Arcata Community Forest is a serene 790-acre redwood forest located near Arcata and Eureka. It boasts an extensive trail network, picturesque scenery, and towering redwoods that create a peaceful ambiance. Visitors can easily get lost in the forest due to several paths; hence it's crucial to mark your starting point before venturing out.
A few photos from my hike through the park. This is a beautiful park, less then 200m in and you feel like you are in the deep redwood forests far from civilization. Just make sure to mark starting point. There are several paths and easy to miss your start point…I learned the hard way!😂

Gorgeous little forest in the middle of Arcata, CA. The trails are well maintained, and admission is free. The forest is clean, and dogs are allowed. Mountain bikers are also welcome. There is a small parking lot in the entrance of the forest, but beware, there are only 6 spots. Other than that, you will need to park in the streets nearby. I highly recommend this forest to anyone that loves nature and outdoors activities.

What a gem! All I had to do was download the pdf map and follow the well-marked trails. The forest is beautiful, tranquil, challenging with its hills (my favorite part), and the locals are friendly and helpful. I felt very safe hiking alone. I will definitely be back. Thank you Arcata!

Absolutely stunning hiking around here. A local recommended it to me and I couldn’t be more grateful to explore this gem of a place. The trails were so peaceful and serene, it was absolutely breathtaking, and I would love to return just to hike here given the chance! One of the photos I took here has been my phone lock screen for a few months now :•) honestly couldn’t recommend more highly!!

This is a tremendous place to visit and hike through. Whether you stay in the redwood forest or hike back into the non redwood areas, it is a vast and beautiful place to spend some time. Please keep your dogs on the leash. If I have to, so do you.

So beautiful, I love coming here and exploring. They do have a map you can download, I highly recommend it as the markers are spaced far apart and it's easy to get in a different trail.

We were in the redwoods for over a week up here in Humboldt county and this was the first place we came because it’s so easily accessible from the street! So glad we did! A great way to start being blown away by giant trees and get in a hike without being too hike-y. Since we were tired from traveling we only did one trail loop but there is plenty more to see - I’m sure one could happily explore this park for a whole day ☺️

The great Arcata community forest!!!! If these trees could speak they would tell many a tale of 6 foot long 2lb joints of Humboldt s finest weed being smoked at the 420 festival that used to happen annually here, or of the numerous drum circles that used to happen in the meadow complete with beautiful hippies dancing with hula hoops and the occasional summertime school bus migration passing thru.
In the late '80s and early '90s, this place was a west coast hippy paradise, and people actually went deep into the forest at night and camped back there for months at a time.
As happens with many a paradise, a few unconscious people ruined it all by leaving piles of unsightly trash, litter, and empty bottles of old crow effectively infuriating hikers and the arcata city council to the point where they hired a park ranger and thus begins the legacy of ranger bob.
Now good old ranger Bob took his job of harassing hippys very seriously and when he was not handing out citations for camping he could be found with binoculars hiding in the bush's making sure those dime bags of the devil's lettuce were not being sold or consumed without him getting his share. As a 215 patient himself, it has been rumored that on his mantle at home, there lies a $2000 artistic hand-blown glass bong confiscated from a well-to-do visitor to the redwood park.
The city does a great job of maintaining the park's trails keeping them clean and maintaining the cool little playground for kids here. There is a sweet downhill mountain bike track that has a great flow to it, a basketball half-court, some bathrooms, and a small place to grill food. Enjoy this magical place with respect, PLEASE, as it is one of the most beautiful places on sol-3 (earth). ♥️🌲

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Great day for outside chill time. Vendors selling their handmade masterpieces. Nice vibe
On the walking path, however... there were two small little rods of steel sticking straight up about 1 inch out of ground. My wife kicked them and almost fell. No warnings, cones, etc...to notify the public of danger. Could trip someone!

We really enjoy walking thru the forest. We try to do every time we go over to the coast. It's a beautiful forest, with a wide (closed to traffic) road to walk on, or many trails through the forest. It was raining when we walked through, which is a different experience. I recommend it.

This is a fabulous park in the middle of a very unassuming area, especially for it being free!
Many great trails and much larger than you’d expect! The signage isn’t great, but it’s not terribly difficult to navigate if you deviate from your original trail.
Trails were neat and well groomed, not too muddy despite lots of rain.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a quick hike along beautiful trees!
Blue Lake Casino & Hotel is a convenient lodging option that offers free Wi-Fi and an outdoor pool. In addition to the casino, there are several dining options available on site. RV parking is offered for free, but guests must spend money at the casino to take advantage of this deal and stays are limited to three days with no tent spaces available. The rooms are clean and spacious, with mini-suites featuring relaxing jacuzzi/tub/shower combos.
I never give 5 stars for a review ....but they deserve it. The floor cleaning staff is excellent, no smoking policy makes for a great atmosphere, the wait staff is really friendly and the slots are not locked down much! The place just looks clean..I worked in the hospitality business for years and preformed hundreds of inspections..if you want to know a facilities policies on cleanliness and customer service always check out the bathrooms first....first impressions.😀

I visited all 3 local casinos. This is the only one we go to now. Reasons are excellent customer service . Player club ..valets..servers bartenders etc go out of their way to assist you. The manager rocks and listens to any concerns you have. Its a very welcoming place with the exception of 1 snarky security guard (common in that line of work though) everyone is outstanding. we eat here once a week the food and service really good. Check out the sushi. Yum. The games are loose lately and I have been winning . I would love to see a slot tournament here and a couple of rooms set aside for people with pets or doggy day care. So many of us cant leave them at home. But overall this place feels good. Like home.

We had our wedding at the Sapphire Palace inside Blue Lake Casino and the Blue Lake Casino team did an amazing job! The group sales event manager Sabrina was amazing, she was very helpful, detailed, and accommodating. The venue was decorated very beautifully. They took care of the set up, tear down, catering, and bar. It was so nice to have everything in house, it really helped alleviate a lot of stress for me and my husband. It was also nice to be able to walk straight from our wedding to our hotel room at Blue Lake Casino (they just did renovations to their hotel and the new hotel rooms are very nice!) Thank you so much Blue Lake Casino for helping fulfill our vision for our special day!

We parked our RV here twice in the last 8 days. It was our first stop on the way to our vacation and our last stop in the way home. The front desk concierge was extremely polite and helpful. We drove our RV over to the lot and parked in a spot. The spots are tight not making much room for slide outs. If someone was parked next to us we would have not been able to use our slide our or open the door but there are plenty of spots so we didn’t need to be next to anyone. They did say they have security patrolling at night but just be aware that there is quite a few homeless that walk through the RV lot. However we did not have any issues. Overall would stay here again.

I've been to this casino twice, and came back because my first experience was so good. Now I've won more than I started with 2 out of 3 times at blackjack. Standard minimum bet is $5, and some mornings you can get a minimum bet as low as $1.
I don't play slots much and lost everything I planned to bet with on slots in about 5 minutes. Smoking is only allowed in a designated area with some slot machines, which is nice as someone who doesn't smoke.
The food has always been good. I had dinner twice, and the Sunday brunch buffet and it all tasted good. It wasn't cheap, but still worth it.
I may have gone in the off season, but the rooms were reasonably priced. They're always clean and everything was remodeled and you can tell. The TVs in the room let you connect from your phone, so you can stream anything you have on your phone.
They have a minifridge and a makeup stand. A microwave would've been nice. My two complaints are that the beds have super hard mattresses, and there's no fans for steam in the bathrooms.
If you plan to stay the night, bring earplugs to sleep with. Some people are up late and others are up early and you can hear it. Normal hotel stuff.
Matt G. — Google review
Great rooms and service. Wish it would have had free breakfast. $75 pet fee is high... most people charge $25-50... thought there was a view but there was not. For the price, I would probably go somewhere else... Oh and slots were not hitting according to others or me after losing $60...

The Blue Lake Casino Hotel in Northern California offers an exceptional experience for guests, starting with ample parking space that ensures convenience from the moment of arrival. Although I have not visited the casino, the front desk service is exemplary, providing a warm welcome and efficient check-in, setting the tone for a pleasant stay. Accommodations are comfortable and spacious, featuring quality beds that guarantee a good night’s sleep, and the bathrooms are modern, clean, and well-lit, enhancing overall comfort and satisfaction. From the cleanliness to the attentive service, this hotel clearly prioritizes guest comfort and satisfaction, making it a great choice for travelers in the area. Close to Eureka, CA.

Didn't stay but attempted dinner there tonight...Alice's restaurant closed without notice except printed sign saying lack of staff. Only option was overly fried chicken tenders, tots, fries, burger etc served in the bar only. Felt for the bartender, she was pouring drinks, taking food orders and running back & forth to the kitchen for fried food orders with smile on her face and kindness to the customers....what a let down for memorial weekend celebration days

The rooms were clean and newly renovated. Friendly and helpful staff. Both restaurants on site were delicious and prices were reasonable. Just a short drive off the 101, this was a great place to stay to enjoy activities from Eureka to Trinidad.

This is my second review! Because of the earthquake we wanted a hot meal, so we went to the Casino. We did not have electricity and had no idea when it would be restored, off to find a place for dinner. Alice's Restaurant in the Casino used to be our favorite place to eat. We have been in Texas for almost two years and apparently Alice's is under new management. Not only is this place way too costly it's food was unpleasant. We both ordered a hamburger and fries, both came cold and after asking for hamburger to be cooked thoroughly it was delivered medium rare. We told the waitress that we were not happy about this meal being so cold and she explained that it was just put up in the window, she did return the meals to the kitchen. Problem solved NO...We now had fries that were as crisp as potato chips. The bun was a bit warm, however, the hamburger was still 🥶 cold. We had watched the waitress conversing with other people and not paying attention to another couple who had asked for a check but had to wait over 20 minutes to receive it. After paying for a cup of coffee at $3 a cup we asked for another refill but one of the checkers had to bring it to us. Quite frankly people should never have to ask for a refill of coffee. Returning to this restaurant would be an embarrassment. If the waitress didn't like her tip too bad she got one dollar and ninety-cents more than the penny I wanted to leave her. Perhaps a ill cooked meal wasn't the waitresses fault but someone should manage this place better! I haven't been a person who leaves bad reviews but some times it is necessary.

The hotel part was was amazing. But the casino was a little sketchy. I got 21 in black and was busy celebrating and didn't realize till the next turn that I never got my chips. I told the lady and she just ignored me. I never had this happen to me at a casino. So unprofessional. Never gambling here again.

It's an RV parking area that you can stay the night at. Does have potable water but the dump station was padlocked. It would have been nice to use. Gas station is conveniently 100 yards away...which is nice.

Last minute decision to stay here, but it ended up being a good one. Room prices are reasonable, about the same or cheaper than the motel 6 or holiday express.. but so much nicer.
It's definitely a recommended stay. Casino, heated pool, hot tub. Good on-site restaurants are reasonably priced.

This is the second time we have stayed here and I’m just amazed at how wonderful the rooms are!! The beds are so comfortable. We just got engaged at clam beach which is super close to blue lake casino. I can’t wait until we stay there again

This is just a review of the casino not the hotel. It's quite large for a casino that is not located in Tahoe or Reno or Vegas. Lots of very new fun exciting slot machines. Also the old style which is also fun. Slots are looser than the casino about 30 miles South just off Highway 101. The people who wander around and offer drinks are quite nice. Extremely nice.

Stayed at Blue Lake Casino Hotel for a week. We've visited and stayed at a lot of casinos between Biloxi, MS and Reno, NV. Blue Lake Casino Hotel is by far the best! Every staff member we encountered whether at check in, walking through the hotel, or on the casino floor was incredibly friendly. The room was fantastic and spacious. Best sleep we've gotten while traveling. Ever! Very quiet in the hotel, never heard anyone coming or going. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for an amazing get away!

Clean big rooms. The mini-suite has a jacuzzi/tub/shower that was very relaxing. Staff was kind and brought requested items to the room. I'll definitely stay again but would recommend checking Expedia etc prior to booking directly through the hotel .

I started at the hotel. Very friendly staff, bed was amazing, veiw was amazing.
In shower vegan shampoo, conditioner and soap. I went to the restaurant inside the casino and got a burger that was so delicious I ate every bit in one setting and was so full I was asleep at 8pm didn't wake up until the next day which kind of was a bummer because I intended to gamble but it was some great sleep.

Room was amazing. Modern and clean. friendly staff. Was great for my overnight stay through town and I didn’t have to walk through the casino to get to it which was a plus.

The security is not as bad as Bear River casino, it needs more food choices, but for the most part the staff is good. If you're going to see a concert, beware of the light show. They have lasers and bright lights in your eyes
Erik Monan — Google review
Nice with lots of slots but none that paid me diddly. Good variety of background music no self serve drink stations gotta wait for servers to come around to get free coffee or soft drink or buy alcohol the bar is good sized with live music n dance floor on weekends. Players club card takes 3 tries before machine accepts it is a bit annoying.
Gas station / store next door tight slots there too but gas prices are competitive and save by paying cash.
Wade Scott — Google review
I've been to a few casinos that were not much to write home about, so I didn't really have high expectations. That being said, we were very impressed with the room. It was one of the nicest hotel rooms we've stayed in. It looks newly remodeled and is very sleek and modern. The bed was spacious and comfortable and the room was nice and quiet. Only thing missing was a microwave. The staff was very friendly and we appreciated that they are dog friendly. Lots of slots to choose from and we had hours of fun playing. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was the restaurant service for breakfast. One of the worst service experiences. No bar tenders until 10 so if you want a bloody mary or such don't bother going until after then (a little shocking for a casino but okay). Our waitress was pretty bad though, and the woman that I'm assuming was the manager had to take care of us multiple times as we sat waiting for our waitress to quit dinking around. Food was bland and we ended up not eating a lot of it. We ate dinner at the same restaurant the night before and had good service and good food. So hopefully the restaurant can get their breakfast crew on the same page because it was bad.

Alice's restaurant, food fair. Entree portions small. Bar access next to restaurant. Free parking, may have to walk or wheelchair a distance to entrance. Hotel next door to casino and restaurant. Casino employee always opens door for you.people nice and willing to help.

Booked this last minute on a road trip and what a suprise. The rooms are spotless and had a nice high end feel for a decent price . The staff is super friendly and helpful. Got the freebies with their gambling card and absolutely had a blast. Note: the casino is split with 70% being non smoking which we really appreciated.
J Roberts — Google review
When it first opened I feel it was much better, but they've kept it pretty good fro the most part. I have had a few very bad experiences here though and that's why they don't get five stars from me. I will suggest that you lock your hotel room door with the top lock that no one can open from the outside because I've had them break into my room while I was sleeping and go through my stuff more than once. Ive also accidentally left my purse at the wave lounge after karaoke one night and they straight dumped it out and went through EVERYTHING, rather than just look for an ID and hold it for me. They are always trying to bust you for something, as in trying to find something illegal on you so be very aware. The security is always trying to get a promotion and /or a raise or something and they'll stop at nothing to get it including violate your constitutional rights even though they aren't supposed to do that even on a rancheria/reservation! And their food situation after 9 or 10 pm is completely absent now, whereas they used to have the Lily Pad Cafe which served great food and drinks 24/7. And I feel like they changed Alice's to where it kinda sucks now. They used to have buffets, like the lunch buffet which has the most beautiful salad bar and it had everything you could want. Then they had a dinner buffet too and it was pretty spectacular too?! I miss the way it was . The food was way better and you could choose what you wanted. Now it's only a small substandard menu with Cisco stuff rather than local fare, and the prices are a bit ridiculous for what you receive. Sunday is the only day that's worth going to in my opinion, but I haven't been in a few years because of the changes. They used to have the best karaoke, and slots, but they've made so many changes and took Away many of the paying machines so I go less frequently. The motel is even different but not necessarily better in my opinion. Still, they are nice rooms and the pool and hot tub are a plus. It's worth going at least once to see how you like it and make your own decision on how you feel about it. The beds are very comfortable and it's always very clean. Kid friendly. Not sure about pets. If you get a room on the north east side you can watch the sun rise and the moon rise. Definitely worth asking for a room facing that direction. Lots of different things to do in Blue Lake throughout the year and some great shows at the Sapphire Palace worth checking out. Would recommend to a friend. 4 out of 5 stars.

My husband and I are staying here right now. My husband just called the front desk at 1:30 a.m. to try and resolve an issue of ten drunk people outside our door having a party. Security came up and let them still hang out. We had to call two more times. All the while EMT's are trying to get in a room next door because one of their party friends is unresponsive. Security confirmed some of the people are not even staying here. We called down a fourth time and the security officer knocks on our door and yells at my husband for calling the front desk and says he will implement a 24-hour exclusion. Really!? We will be punished for trying to sleep at 2AM??? They didn't offer us another room or anything like that. They were not even trying to be nice to us. That is not how you treat your customers.
We will be speaking with the management in the morning. The wannabe security guard cannot even control his own emotions. DO NOT STAY HERE! PERIOD!

The rooms are the best thing about this place. They are very clean with modern-day appliances and comfort. The restaurants leave much to be desired as its just fried food. The casino its self is small but well stocked with modern games. The down side is the absolutely disgusting cigarette smell its overwhelming and nasty.
Trinidad State Beach is a lovely sandy coastline situated in Humboldt County, California, which offers access to the Trinidad Head hiking trail. The beach is pet-friendly and features impressive rock formations. While it may not be the largest beach around, it remains a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The area offers excellent opportunities for surfing and taking beautiful photos.
Such a beautiful place. Amazing hiking beach and caves. Highly recommend seeing it if you ever get the chance.

This beach is my home away from home. Being spiritual and believing we have other lives in different forms simultaneously, this part of the ocean brings me peace and love. I feel the deep connection every time I’m there and get sad when I leave. It is a priority of mine to visit often as it is only a three hour drive for me. Peace and love to all of you who visit.

It's very pretty here. The views are great. Lots of parking. There are two sides. One side has a pier, a restaurant, and a little sheltered cove. The other is a large beach.
Very windy. Even with warm temps. Bring a coat.

Make sure you take the correct trail down. The wrong trail isn't for the faint of heart, even if it is a lot of fun. The correct trail has a steep incline up, so keep that in mind if bringing children. Stunning beach, with beautiful blue water, lots of sand and rocks and even some sea glass. Lots to see and do for such a little beach.

Well this beach is nice but not the largest. There a lot of people here at this beach, but beautiful just the same. The parking lot wasn't the best being flooded and muddy, but the view at the top of the trail was worth it. Hiked to the cross which was a steep muddy climb. But at the top we saw such a great view of the ocean and even spotted some whales.

Located 25 miles north of Eureka, California, Sue-Meg State Park is nestled in the midst of the coast redwood region. The park offers a diverse array of tree species including coastal redwoods, hemlock, fir, and Sitka spruce. Visitors can also enjoy sandy beaches and sheer cliffs that overlook the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. The park's pristine meadows are adorned with wildflowers that create a picturesque setting for nature lovers to explore.
We just stopped for a quick view from Patrick’s Point. The view was fabulous. We parked and walked a very short distance (.2 mile?) to the viewpoint. You have a great view of Wedding rock from here. We didn’t have time to explore, but we think the trail to wedding rock was from the same parking lot.

Some of the facilities can definitely use maintenance, like the stairs. The showers could be updated, to have working lighting and more consistent hot water.
The park is utterly beautiful though. It's fantastic that they went with a rename last year to respect the native people's indigenous to the area.

Formerly known as Patrick’s Point State Park. Sue-Meg State Park is a lovely state park located on the coast of Humboldt County north of Trinidad. My friends wanted to visit Agate Beach so park by the trailhead. The hike down to beach wasn’t bad. The trail is fairly easy but remember that you do have to hike back up to the parking lot. The beach is vast. It was a nice place to walk around and look at the cliffs and look for pretty rocks. We eventually just laid down by the beach and listened to the large waves crash. There other places to visit in the park but we didn’t have enough time. I would definitely go back again and explore the other side of the park.
Thomas Joseph Perez — Google review
A large part of the park was closed for storm clean up and repairs however there were still more trails that we could manage in one day. We saw 2 whales close to shore from the rim trail as well as other amazing vistas. After a picnic lunch we hiked down to Agate Beach to collect rocks (no patience to ferret out agates). Some of the trails are steep and a little slippery. We utilized our walking sticks (we are seniors ;)). There was no attendant at the entrance booth and the info center does not have cash, so make sure that you have the appropriate money for the entrance fee.

Friends who live nearby treated us to a camping night while we were traveling and wow this park has it all. Wedding Rock and Agate beach are so close. The camping ground was quiet at night. The restrooms were adequate and we really loved hearing the waves as we slept. I'd love to go back asap and enjoy this park more. So much we didn't get to explore as we were only there one night.

We stayed at the campground and explored the park. It's quite large and very pretty. Our campsite was just ok. It was surrounded with blackberry bushes, no hook-ups but was level and quiet. We really enjoyed the Wedding Rock trail and look outs. Beautiful sunset and views. It's worth going down to and climbing Wedding Rock. It's so beautiful. We rode our bikes around the park, which is quite large. A beautiful and fun place to explore!

Great place to picnic and learn about the Yurok Native Traditions and Culture! Different trails throughout the park with great ocean and wildlife viewing. There are plenty of clean restrooms scattered around the park and several overnight campsites with easy online reservation instructions. $ 8-day use fee if you just want to hang out for the day. I stay or visit this park every time I'm on the Northern California Coast!

Absolutely loved this park. At first I didn't want to stop due to other well-known stops along my route. I'M GLAD I DID. It's $8 for a day pass for the park. Money well spent. Lots of fun for families and great photo opps for the solo traveler. This is a must-stop.

The costal walk has some really nice views of the ocean. It's not a place for checking out redwoods, like Redwood National Park (20 min north) and Jedediah Smith (60+ min north) but gives a nice view of some of the other flora and fauna in the area.
Brad Helmer — Google review
Beautiful park, the Redwood trees are magical and extraordinary. The ocean view is magnificent. I couldn't believe the treasures I found, the banana slugs were everywhere and quite intriguing. The intensity of the ocean waves blew me away. The cliff line along the mountain side told a powerful story as well as the ocean. It's a wonderful and quiet get away in a foggy mysterious and powerful place. Camping is $35 a night, sights are clean. Each one unique and beautiful. I had a lovely and enlightening moment in time here. I hope to one day be back again.

Sue-Meg State Park made for a great stay... Lovely views, helpful staff and camp host, lots of places to walk and explore while you stay there.
Take the guided tour of the village... It's a wonderful way to learn about the longer history of the area and gain a better appreciation of it and the people who have lived so long in the area.
The cabins are clean, dry, and warm. If staying there, consider that there is no broom, tables/chairs, or mattress/cushion on the beds. You may want to pack those for yourself if you'd use them.

*Patrick's Point - very pretty
*Wedding Rock - pretty cliffs
Both have short dirt paths with a little bit of climbing. Not everyone will find this comfortable or accessible.
*Sue-Meg Village - The best. Just as I remember it as a kid. These homes and grounds are amazing and still maintained by the Yurok.
You can go inside most of the homes through the hole. The interiors are amazing. That said, not everyone will be able to climb into the hole and therefore really miss out! Kids will fit for sure, and smaller, flexible adults who don't mind getting a bit dirty.
If you can, go inside, you'll be amazed at how roomy it is inside.
I could and would live there now.
There are picnic tables and large areas for school or family groups.
The place is well maintained, there are restrooms and plenty of parking. There are trails shooting off from the village.
There are bears and mountain lions in the are, like every other part of the forests on the coast.

Nice little park but for $8 not sure it is worth it. Save your money and go down to the national park that has used your federal dollars to enhance the park, maintain the trails, keep the restrooms in good repair, keep the roads in good or better repair and generally create a nice environment to recreate in.
None of the campgrounds have water or electric or sewer but the sites are usually spacious and private. Restrooms were usually clean but we did find a few times that they were dirty and packed supplies that you might assume would be there.
In Sept the park was never crowded and ready to find solitude of you wanted some.

The park is beautiful but annoying you can't take dogs on the trails or beaches. You can walk with them on the road but on busy weekends that's not very relaxing as cars pass you. You can enter for free if you walk or bike.

Absolutely loved this place. Trinidad, California. We loved eating at Seascape Restaurant. And we loved eating at Trinidad Eatery also. Close enough for a 3 day weekend. Beautiful enough to stay for a week. Plenty of places to go and things to do.

I always hate leaving reviews for places like this because I feel like they're a small hidden gem that should be kept secret. I don't want it to become next on the list of places that gets "loved to death" and suddenly you need a reservation to get in. But if I dont share how cool they are then they can't stay open. This is a pretty tiny state park but it has some spectacular views of the coast. If I were local to the area I could see coming here to watch the sunset or take a quiet stroll through the trails. It was quiet when we went, not crowded and very lovely. It was the perfect end to a longer day of hiking in other nearby parks.

This is a beautiful park, but the campground needs a lot of work! The only level spots are designated handicap. We tried for almost an hour and a half to get level in two different sites before we gave up. The second site we tried was big enough, but had several deep pits in the parking area and was full of mud after a lot of rain in the area. We finally parked in the handicapped spot after 5pm (after asking the park host if this was ok - it was in February and not very busy). We had originally planned to stay two nights, but left after only one. The park ranger, Ash, was as helpful as she could be but told us that we could only change sites once. She was very apologetic the next morning when she saw the condition of the two sites we had tried to park in. The park website indicates that RVs up to 31’ are allowed, but that should really be downgraded to 20’.
The Lady Bird Johnson Grove Trail is a scenic pathway spanning 1.4 miles through an upland redwood grove. This trail pays homage to the former First Lady's commitment to the environment. It features a loop towards the end and is considered easy for people of all ages due to its relatively flat terrain. Families can complete it in around half an hour, but many choose to take their time and absorb the majestic surroundings of this magical environment.
A perfect family hike. The trail is an easy one-mile loop through the grove along an old logging road. Our family could have easily completed the loop in a half hour, but we took our time meandering among the majestic trees, and enjoying this magical environment. At the time of our visit, my wife was in a walking boot, and she had no trouble with the trail.

Highly recommended. If you only have time for ONE trail to experience the magnificent of coastal redwood forest, do this one. Tall original growth coastal redwoods on top, tan oaks as lower canopy, with magnificent native Rhododendron just above your head and lush carpet of ferns spreading on and on. Easy access to the parking lot by small vehicles, trails are relatively wide and flat but can be very muddy since this area is constantly enclosed by thick fogs. And, no pets.

Cool trail and bridge, but I would probably head to the Prarie creek elk reserve due to more available parking spaces and the variety of sites. This area is a mixed stand of second growth and old growth with very cool burn scars to look at.

Every visitor should take this short stroll among the Old Growth Redwoods that inspired the founding of the National Park. The enormity of these giant redwood trees is truly humbling and the experience will bring tears to your eyes. So quiet, so peaceful, and so awe inspiring.

Such a beautiful grove that includes Old Growth. I did the short 1.5 mile loop and it was a well maintained trail with plenty of sights to see. What I enjoy about this grove is that the road to get here is inaccessible for buses and RVs so you don't get the humongous crowds you'd get at the other groves.

Easy 1.5 mile trail, mostly flat. Good for families with small children and a "warm up" for more experienced hikers. Large redwoods. Interactive ( app) trail, but I chose not to use the electronics here.

Great to visit if you want to go to Redwood but not do any hiking or anything too physical . The parking lot gets full but people come and go quite frequently. It's an easy walk (normal shoes are fine) and you can certainly find yourself in a totally silent section. Well worth a visit and I spent about an hour here.

This was the first hike we took in the Redwoods- I can see why it tops almost every top hikes list you find online for the area! We hiked it in the rain — it was level and easy, great no matter the weather. Be sure to wear waterproof boots if you do catch a rainy day!

Great trail with more old-growth redwoods (including one in the parking lot that gives you a complete view of its height). The trail is a 1.5-mile loop through the Grove; Berry Glen Trail continues for 3.5 miles, one way, to Elk Meadow Day Use Area. The trail is easy to moderate. Berry Glen Trail steeply descends 1,200 feet to Elk Meadow.
In 1969 President Nixon dedicated this grove to former First Lady, Lady Bird Johnson, for all of her conservation and environmental work. The dedication plaque for Lady Bird Johnson Grove can be seen about half a mile down the trail. She came to the site in November 1968 to help dedicate Redwood National Park. She returned in August 1969 to be honored by Richard Nixon.

This trail is magical. I recommend going early in the morning when the sun shines through the most in the trees.
The path is generally very flat and not too long but there are so many beautiful trees to see. It's a nice little escape in the redwoods! Very much worth a stop!

Beautiful scenery, absolutely stunning.
Get there early as the parking gets taken up pretty quickly.
It's about a 30ish min hike depending on your speed.
There're are two bathrooms, plenty of 5g signal since there is virtual tours.
Highly recommend and I'd go back there again.

I went to the Tall Trees Grove, Grove of the Titans, and many other smaller groves across the greater Redwood area and this is my favorite. There is a paved parking area and a nice bridge over Bald Hills Road to get to the grove. There are restrooms and interpretive signs as well. There are some very impressive trees here and a high concentration of Redwoods.

In my opinion, this is one of the most magical rainforests on earth. I came at the perfect time. Fog in this grove is wild.
This has been one of my favorite places since I was kid. I can't say enough about this beauty and the photos speak for themselves.
*The drive up to the grove is very steep and long for such an incline. My car did not like it much, so be warned. The parking lot is small and in high demand. I was lucky when I arrived at 10am, because it was almost full. When I left at noon, people were circling.
There are restrooms in the parking lot. The paths are wide, smooth and well maintained.
This is a short walk with a gentle slope/grade. Depending on your level of mobility, I would say this is pretty accessible compared to most outdoor parks of this sort.
**PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
This is a national park and prestine. Read the signs, follow the rules. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED!
Have some respect for this forest. And if you can't do that, I don't know why you're here, but do it for visitors who want an uninterrupted visit.
There are thousands of parks that allow dogs, go there. Dogs bark. Dogs poop. Dog dig holes and kick up dirt. Dogs pee. Dogs fight with other dogs if other disrespectal visitors are present. Owners are audibly scolding undisciplined dogs.
Leave your dogs at home or in the car.
Enjoy the time you visit, don't take it for granted. We don't know how long this will exist.
To wrap it up, I highly recommend anyone and everyone to venture off 101 and experience this magnificent wonder of the world. It's the best presentation of the redwoods that Northern California is known for.

Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is a vast natural sanctuary located in Humboldt County, California. It features 75 miles of trails, campgrounds, and a visitor center surrounded by old-growth Coast Redwood trees. The park has many attractions, including Fern Canyon and Gold Bluffs Beach. The stunning Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway winds its way through the park, showcasing the spectacular redwoods and lush ferns that make up the landscape.
First, it’s free! Did I mention that it’s free to go!
Anyways moving on!
We weathered out two days in Crescent city so we could finally visit the redwoods. It was Coltrane‘s first time seeing this type of forest and as always I was completely unprepared for this stunning beauty and he loved it!
Definitely make a stop and see the “big tree!”

Prairie Creek Redwoods is host to miles and miles of amazing trails through groves of giants, pristine beaches, prairies full of elk, and unique sites like Fern Canyon. Some areas are reservation only, such as the Tall Trees Grove, and Fern Canyon Parking (This can be accessed on foot from the visitor center via a 5 mile trail). Elk are around the visitor center and prairie area. The twelve mile James Irvine Loop is a great way to experience all the majesty of the park. Parking is limited.

Spent about 6 hours hiking about 10 miles around Prairie Creek. It was easy hiking surrounded by beautiful trees. There were a lot of people around the station when it opened but it was pretty easy to find trails that weren’t very busy. Having only one day to spend in the redwoods, we spent all day here and felt like there was enough to enjoy without having to drive to different parks.

American Arbor Day
With a little love and support, this little sprout at Prairie Creek Redwood State Park in California has a big future ahead of it. It has the potential to one day be the tallest tree on the planet, or at least close to it. Its ‘big brother,’ Hyperion, currently holds the record at 380 feet. They’re giant sequoias, aka giant redwood trees. They often grow upwards of 300 feet tall and can live for thousands of years. They’re heroes of nature, affecting the weather and climate, while housing and protecting other plants and animals. But all of this little sprout’s potential is at risk because the giant sequoia is an endangered species. Fewer than 80,000 of them remain. That’s why today is an important day for it and all trees.
That’s right, today is Arbor Day, the day where we stop a moment to think about the trees (and hopefully even plant a few). The first American Arbor Day occurred 150 years ago, when an estimated one million trees were planted in Nebraska in 1872. This year, America’s Arbor Day Foundation is celebrating its 50th year of dedication to tree planting. They’ve planted over 350 million of them over the years, but the mission never ends. Trees are vital to the health of our planet, which means they're important for our own health as well. Why not do a little to make the future a better place and take a moment to nurture or plant a new tree today?

We drove through the Prairie Creek State Park while on the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway and it was definitely worth it! It was about a 30-minute detour on our road trip, but you get some awesome views of the redwoods and there are several pullouts on the road that showcase specific trees. We really liked the Goose Pen tree. If you are in the area on a road trip, definitely get on the Newton B. Drury Parkway to see some giant old trees!

Prairie Creek is absolutely magical!!! It is so green and lush. And the trail we took leading to the Fern Trail was not difficult. I heard that the Fern Trail requires walking in water a little higher than ankle deep. So bring waterproof boots or sandals and an extra pair of socks. So excited to do that trail the next time!! Have fun and enjoy the quiet, colorful beauty of nature!!! 💚🌲

We came here on the last day of our trip in mid March and we're so glad we did. You definitely get a sense of being deeper in the forest than on the Jedediah Smith trails. We took the big Prairie Creek trailhead that's down and across the road from the visitor center. What a cool hike into the woods! Can't say enough about how stunning these trees are. Saw a few small elk by the visitor center, but none with antlers. I advise getting a map from the visitor center as that definitely helped us. The trail splits in multiple sections.

Just so beautiful. Well maintained trails, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful rangers. Prarie Creek is part of Redwoods state and National Parks and in my opinion has some of the best trails because you have access to beach and woods. In all honesty, whichever parks you visit will take your breath away.

This is a must see while traveling through the Redwoods. Don't miss the opportunity to pull over and walk one of the trails. You don't have to walk 10 miles, even just walk 200 yards into the forest, breathe deeply, look up a lot and appreciate the magnitude of the "giants". Look down on "carpeted" forest floor and notice the boughs, the colors and maybe even a salamander!

It is the southernmost part of a collection of state and federally administered lands under the Redwood National & State Parks umbrella. The park offers several options for hiking, including Lady Bird Johnson Grove with its kid-friendly 1-mile loop trail or Tall Trees Grove for secluded serenity.
Came to look at the trees to find a wedding/photo venue. The park ranger at the info center was knowledgeable and pleasant. Everything was nice.

Being among these ancient trees truly feels amazing. It's almost like going back in time to when these redwoods covered most of America at one point. Redwood National and State Parks will always be one of my favorite places on the planet. Pay to park, camp, or get a yearly pass and hike the easy, well maintained trails. In the spring and summer be wary of poison oak off of the trails, but if you stick the to the trails and leave leaves of three alone you shouldn't get it. This is a great location for camping with family and friends and day trips, but my favorite use of these magnificent parks is meeting my clients here for photoshoots that look like they came from a storybook!

Absolutely breathtaking!!! No picture or video could ever do this place justice. While driving through this place you will see that they are indeed massive. It’s not until you get out and do some trails that you realize the trees get so much bigger deeper in the forest. It’s dead quiet which really makes it peaceful. I really did love it here and can’t wait to come back and see more trails. It is damp inside the forest so be ready for that. It really makes you think about how small you are in this world. Its also makes you realize how terrible humans have been to cut down such enormous trees for money. So do yourself a favor and take a hike through this ancient forest and fall in love with it!

Figuring out the Redwoods was confusing. I didn't understand that it was four separate parks, all next to each, other until I got there and started exploring in person. Once you get the lay of the land, however, it is a pretty straightforward experience. Nestled within the USA, the Redwood Forest beckons with its great charm. As I wandered through the woods, the towering redwoods stood tall, casting a serene atmosphere. Their grandness is somewhat humbling, a reminder of nature's quiet strength.
Walking along the well-marked trails, the forest's peaceful ambiance gave me goosebumps. The filtered sunlight created a gentle play of light and shadows, enhancing the sense of calm. The air was crisp and carried the earthy scent of the forest floor.
During my visit, the forest felt like a secluded haven. Away from the urban bustle, it's a place to unwind and relax. The sounds of birds and rustling leaves provided a soothing backdrop, creating a harmonious escape.
While the Redwood Forest may not be the most flamboyant attraction, its understated beauty is its true charm. It's a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with nature. If you're seeking a quiet retreat amidst these towering giants, this forest offers a serene haven to experience the tranquility of the great out doors.

This place makes you feel like you are in Jurassic park. These trees are absolutely humongous and make me feel so tiny in comparison. There are so many great areas to take pictures and videos as well as many trails/hikes along the road. I love how green and fertile everything is around the Red Woods.
Massive redwood tree & tourist attraction with a drive-thru tunnel carved out of its trunk.
I see some reviews saying it is free. It is NOT free, but it was just $5. It may have no one at the booth and it is a trust system that you pay into the slot. I only had one other group in front of me and so was able to enjoy it at my leisure. A great tree and pretty much something you *must* do in the Redwoods - drive through at least ONE tree.

I'm not sure why we had such a hard time finding this place, but there are obvious signs on the road to direct you there. Only $5 and worth it for the fun of squeezing your car through the tree. We did it a few times since we were the only ones up there and had a blast taking photos. If it's busy, skip the detour. But if traffic is light, it's worth a stop!

I really loved the tranquility of this place. We did end up going on a perfect day thou, it was raining and thundering. On mother's day we were getting ready to check out from our hotel in smith river, when we got a call from my aunt. She asked us where we were and I told her we are exploring Klamath. Her first question was if we toured through the tree, and I was like no. She sounded way more excited than I was at that hour if the day. So when I googled and found this place was so super close to us, I decided it definitely was gonna be my 1st stop.
As we drive on the empty road in hail and heavy rain, wipers going up and down, thanks to the big sign which said tour thru trees exit here, I was able to know where exactly iam going. An empty check in cabin stood in front of us with a sign that deposit $5 in the slot as the person has gone somewhere for some errands.
We started making our way up the park on a narrow road. The moment I was surrounded by so much greenery, I was lost in the beauty of my surroundings. This is usually the place I YouTube when I want to put peaceful music in my living room. And here I was watching this place in real life. We entered the parking lot where a big tree stood right before us. No one in sight probably because of the weather which made us very lucky. I do have a jeep compass so it was a very tight fit to pass thru the tree but I did make it. I just stood there admiring that place before we hit the road . It's truly a gem. Now my pictures may not look like it was taken in rain but it was taken in rain, not even drizzle.
I can't believe that one part of California is so serene. Coming from sf bay area all we see is the dry dry and dry. I close my eyes and I still picture this place. If it was not for the pictures I'd definitely think it was a dream. Anyway I hope you all like my story coz it truly came from my heart. Pliz do visit them. Happy journey

There is an entry fee. Wasn’t really busy when we came. We waited for one vehicle that got there before us. The road was a bit narrow on the way to it. It was a challenge to drive our large van through but it fit! With the mirrors turned in tho 😅. Just one giant tree but it was fun trying to get it through. Glad it wasn’t busy it would been a wait if you get 4-5 large vehicles trying to get through.

There is a small turn going in or coming out depending on which direction you're going into the tree. I believe I would have trouble with that so I didn't go through. The height and width would have been fine. Loved all the flowering bushes on the way in.

Bring cash!! This place is small, and a short visit and for us, worth the $5. It was a bucket list experience for us at the Redwoods and an inexpensive activity. The kids thought it was super cool too!

The wife and I stopped by on our trip thru the area. Pretty cool little side stop. We arrived early in the morning and were the only ones there. The tree itself is neat and capable of being driven thru. We have a smaller mid sized SUV and it was a tight fit.

This huge tree has had the center section removed, allowing small vehicles to pass through. Amazingly, the tree seems to be alive and thriving even though a large portion of the trunk has been cut out.

Amazing and unique experience. They charge a little fees to enter to area and enjoy this tree view.
New and fun experience on the Klamath River. Went about 45 miles up river and explored the scenery and wildlife along the banks of the river. Throw in quite a few 360° turns and full stop brake checks and fun was had by the entire family. Very knowledgeable boat guide.

It was a very fun trip. The Captain was very knowledgeable about the area. Lots of wild life to see along the river. I would recommend this to anyone who likes boats, history or wild life.

This was such a great trip! The Klamath river is beautiful, and the staff really made it an experience to remember. We saw lots of wildlife (loved seeing all the eagles and bears), and if you watched for a while, the fish would jump right out of the water. The captain was such a great host, and I appreciated his knowledge and respect of the local tribe.

Well organized tour! From time of check in, briefing, interpretive tour along the way, scary at first when they turn the boat around, but is super safe and lots of FUN!
Would definitely recommend it to visitors and locals alike.
If you are looking for adventure and unique experience on the Klamath, this is it!
Been wanting to do it for years living in Humboldt and finally did it since I had family visiting.
*maybe a recommendation is to offer a slight discount for locals of Del Norte & Trinity Co

We actually took the redwood canoe tour and it was one of the most memorable trips I’ve had in a long time! I learned so much about the Yurok culture and the distraction that is happening to the Klamath River. I think everyone should take this tour to learn how horribly the Yurok tribe has been treated. This trip was truly eye-opening

We had a blast on the boat! But the best part was the staffs help when we were delayed due to fires and road construction. They just shifted our trip to the next morning... No hassles or questions, just help. Such a nice change.
The Trees of Mystery is a picturesque destination that showcases chainsaw tree sculptures, an aerial tramway, and a 35-foot Paul Bunyan statue. Visitors can explore interpretive trails through the Giant Redwoods and discover unusual tree formations along the Trail of Mysterious Trees. The area is also home to different types of redwood trees, providing visitors with a beautiful experience as they wander through the scenic trail.
Such a fun place! It's been there since 1931 and in talking to my mom, both my grandparents and great grandparents had been there. Lots of neat history here, and the trees are amazing! I would have paid the entrance fee just for the suspended walkways alone. Takes about 2-3 hours to see everything at a slower pace and taking photos, so you don't need to plan to spend the whole day here. There are lots of free trailheads to add to your adventure, but we really felt this one was worth paying for.

Awesome place to visit! I believe it's like $20 for entrance. Love the views & all the crazy trees! 🌳 Went with friends & family, had a blast walking around & taking the gondola to the top. Trail down vs going back on gondola is a 6 a best between 1-10 for difficulty. If you're completely out of shape, not recommend trail back down from gondola. Great sights from heights to looking up. Crazy nature! Reminds me of the mystery spot but much bigger for a place! I would recommend visiting. The weather up north is so much fresh & colder compared to being from the bay. Had an exciting time.

What an amazing experience in the redwoods. Loved the sky trail, if you are looking for some adventure and experience how truly giant and majestic redwoods are then definitely do this sky trail. Even the gondola ride was perfect. The view on the ridge on the top is breathless. Overall really worth the ticket for all the experience.

A wonderful experience. I had read an article b about this place, and it completely lived up to the expectations.
We really enjoyed the sky tram, which gives you great views of the forest below.
The sky walk in the canopy of the trees is definitely an experience. If you are at all motion sick, this may not be the best idea or be prepared for the swaying when you and others walk. The spiral staircase is also not for the faint of heart on the walk. Both of those are inclusive of the price and can be experienced more than once.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tall tale section, and it was wonderful to be able to listen to the story on the podium and see all the wonderful wood carvings.
The gift shop is fairly encompassing and has lots to offer, including one of my favorites getting a pressed penny. The pressed penny here is $1.
I also enjoyed the Native American Museum that is inside of the gift shop. It was organized by regional sections.

This is a great experience for families. Good price for a beautiful walk in the woods & gondola ride to a magnificent view. Kids can learn a lot about these majestic trees that are hundreds of years old & impervious to pests. The trail down from the gondola is a very steep walk, so not recommended for families or anyone that is not in shape to hold themselves back on steep, slippery downhills but it is very beautiful & quiet.

I saw only one bathroom in the woods which is only when you take the sky trail to the top ...but that too was not working so make sure visit before you go. I had the most amazing time, I can just sit there, close my eyes and listen to the trees for hours. Unfortunately the time and rain did not let me but I made the most of my time. Talking about the trees, these trees are not called giants for no reason. Iam just amazed walking surrounded by these beautiful piece of art. Overhead rope bridges so you actually are up in the trees themselves instead of just down by the bases. Lots of interesting signage telling you lots of history.

Ocean World is a privately-owned aquarium in Crescent City that offers an exciting and educational experience for visitors. Originally opened in 1964, it now houses undersea habitats within more than half a million gallons of aquarium space. The attraction features guided tours, touch-and-feel tide pools, and fascinating information about the aquatic inhabitants. Visitors can enjoy unique experiences such as shark petting and performances by resident seals and sea lions.
It’s a pretty short tour but it’s cute and fun for what it is! I would recommend it specially for little kids. You get to touch different kinds of fish and even a shark which was cool because the shark swam over to me and stopped so I could pet her the hole time. The tour ends with a really awesome sea lion show. Some of the tricks and acting skills these animals have is impressive and funny so be ready for a good time. I’d definitely come back and experience this again. The gift store was okay nothing you haven’t already seen somewhere else.

It's a nice little tour through the aquarium and the seal show is terrific. My kids absolutely love it. The gift shop is full of trinkets. The only things I wish could be different is that there is no reasonable access to physically disabled people. They do offer a screen to watch the tour from upstairs but it's not the same as in person. Also they kind of rush you through a little too quick. It would be great to have more free access to enjoy just watching the fish and seal lions at leisure. Admission price isn't bad at all though, so it's worth it as long as you're able to walk down fairly steep stairs. There are ample photo ops throughout the whole aquarium. You also get to pet a shark.

My family and I went here for the first time. I gotta admit, this place exceeded my expectations by a long shot. The tour was great. You get to watch seals and sea lions do some fun tricks. Watch sharks, rock fish, sturgeon and lots of other animals in their giant aquariums. You get to touch and hold tide pool animals. And one of the coolest things I've ever done, pet a shark. The ladies who run the tour are friendly, knowledgeable and will answer all questions. Would definitely recommend to anyone

Fun starfish tank, a shark tank that you can pet the sharks! The seal show was a kick to watch! Would definitely go again!

Unique small group sized tour with knowledgeable guide. The almost private seal and sea lion show is a much better experience than those at amusement parks. And the petting pool to feel one of the fiah was an unexpected surprise.

A quaint little aquarium experience. They have a four part tour: the first part includes a photo opportunity and a touch and feel tide pool experience. The second part includes a walk downstairs ( there is not an elevator) to the underground aquarium viewing experience. Then, back upstairs to the shark petting portion with another photo opportunity. Last, we walk outside to a covered walkway surrounding a pool where the seals and sea lions give a spectacular performance. All in all, the tour was about 45 minutes. Such a fun place! The sea lions were so cute. The kids had a great time and touching the starfish was so interesting!

This is a great place to visit with the kids. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly and made sure everyone had time to enjoy the various exhibits. Lots of picture opportunities and the gift shop is sure to please all.

Let me tell you, the staff at Ocean World were simply amazing! They were so knowledgeable and eager to share their expertise with us. We decided to take the guided tour, and let me tell you, it is an absolute must-do! It was beyond incredible. We had the chance to pet starfish, play with sea urchins, and can you believe it, we even had the opportunity to pet sharks! It was such an exhilarating experience.
The entire place was filled with plenty of photo-worthy moments, and we made sure to capture every single one. The gift shop was also great, offering a wide range of souvenirs and memorabilia. What really impressed us was how friendly and welcoming everyone was. The atmosphere was so enjoyable, and the facility itself was spotlessly clean.
Finding Ocean World was a breeze, as it's conveniently located just off the main road. Trust me, it's a must-visit when you're in Crescent City.

Tanks were dirty and obscured views of the animals. Too many animals per tank. The ‘touching’ aspect of the tour doesn’t take into account animal welfare with some animals in the tide pool showing injuries from previous guests. The ‘petting’ shark sits in an empty pool for 3 days before it gets rotated out. The seal and lion pool was too small for the number of animals, and the sea lions had some inflamed eyes from the grime. Was rushed through the tour without any time to really look at anything either. Didn’t learn ANYTHING from the tour itself. NOT ADA accessible. Felt cheap, tacky and dirty. Disappointed in myself for going.
Cora, the sea lion, had an impressive group of learned behaviors and that was pleasant to see. Pity such an intelligent group of animals has to live in such a small aquarium.
You get what you pay for! :)

At this time of year, we had our own private tour of the aquarium, including seal & sea lion show. And you get to pat a shark. Fantastic! Best little aquarium in the state.
Dense groves of massive, old-growth redwoods, 20 miles of trails & a campground with cabins.
If you want to be humbled, this is where you go. Incredibly amazing drive through a forest of redwoods! If you drive thru here and feel nothing... then you're dead inside. This is one of those places that make you feel like you just feel into a journey to the center of the earth scene. Gorgeous!

I'm fifty and this was my first trip to see the redwoods. I hugged these trees, literally. And spent my time there in awe. Such giants.
The park and facilities were clean and well kept. The trails and campgrounds were very nice, though I felt like a dinosaur might appear on the path of that primeval forest at any moment.
The park's proximity to both the coast and lovely Smith River makes it even better, Highly recommend!

27 years later and I’m finally visiting the redwoods. It brought goosebumps to see how large these redwood giants are. The beauty here does not compare to anything I’ve seen in my life. The best part about it was how me and my boyfriend were the only ones on a trail and we did not see a soul. It allowed us to enjoy our time here more since it was not busy.

This National Park is absolutely mind-blowing! I was lucky enough to explore this incredible place with my granddaughter, and let me tell you, she was completely blown away by the sheer size of the redwoods. We had an absolute blast hiking through the picturesque trails, and the best part was meeting so many fascinating people from all corners of the globe. It was such a rejuvenating experience – while everyone else was roasting in the scorching sun, we were basking in the cool shade of the towering trees. The intoxicating scent of the redwoods permeating the air was truly something special. And let me tell you about the water – it was so crystal clear that it created an illusion of shallowness, allowing us to see every individual rock at the bottom. Unbelievable!

How anyone can rate this place less than 5 is beyond me.
It’s like being in a forested cathedral, just unbelievable.
Highly recommend the Fern Canyon hike. Definitely head up to redwood park and see the Grove of the Titans.
Get out a thesaurus: amazing, spectacular, phenomenal, unbelievable…

This park is home to some amazing trees! Walking among these ancient giants makes you feel small and temporary. The dense forest is a joy to walk through, exploring not only the large and small trees, but also creeks that wind through the forest and create their own beauty as well. The well maintained trails allow you to explore without too much effort and is an easy walk from the parking for families and children. Prepare to be awed by the majesty of the Jedediah Smith Redwoods Park - it’s unforgettable!

Great experience! It was a rainy day but still loved waking through the forest. We picked a short trail right off Walker Rd. It was an easy trail and we still got to experience the Redwoods!

What a majestic area! Absolutely beautiful! The trees are unbelievable and there are trails everywhere! We walked out into the woods and some of the ferns were as tall as we were. We did see a variety of different mushrooms of different colors that were very interesting. Nice long hikes and the beautiful ocean is right there for lots of shelling and long walks as well. Can’t say enough about the beauty of the redwoods.

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park offers driving, walking, hiking, kayaking, & camping opportunities to enjoy the beauty of old growth redwoods and the Smith River. We enjoyed the River Beach and Nature Trails right from the campground. We drove on Howland Hill Rd to hike Stout Grove, Grove of the Titans and Boy Scout Tree Trail. Beautiful.

Redwoods are big, tall, beautiful and distinct. Jedediah Smith Redwoods park is a part of Redwoods National Park ecosystem and needles to say it is absolutely Free to visit unlike many other National Parks. You don’t even have to make reservations! Parking is somewhat limited, especially at the Boy Scout Tree Trail, I would say about 10 cars are able to find spots. We did not have a map of trails and still were able to hike. You will meet other people on trails and if any questions just ask:) Same Boy Scout Tree Trail confused us, when we entered it was written 2.8 miles distance but be aware it’s a distance to the tree so double it for the entire hike (5.6 miles a trail). That trail in particular is somewhat difficult, steps up and down and wet dirt, especially if you hiking after it was raining and no pavement. Other trails much shorter there are some not even a 1 mile hikes. Restrooms are at every trail so no need to panic:) Closest place to grab some snacks probably Crescent city (approx 10-12 miles away).

The Grove of Titans trail was the perfect length and experience for our group. We took our time and took lots of photos, so took a good hour or more from the trailhead to the "Heart of the Forest", but it could be done in about 20 mins. If you're going here however, you shouldn't rush! It's amazing! I'll let the pics speak for themselves.
Gregory Brown — Google review
We only got to do 2 of the several trails, Simpson Reed trail and Grove of Titans. We also did the driving trail. Just those 3 took us over 3 hours to do and we were kind of rushing. It was cold, damp and slippery so be prepared properly to watch the weather and wear the right shoes. Elderly or disabled will probably have a hard time on the Grove of Titans as the path up is steep. The trees are incredible. I wish people would respect nature and not carve in them, dead or alive. It would be amazing to come back and spend and entire day. We saw no animals just some snails and slugs. Oh, driving into the Grove of Titans is very snug one way road so drive carefully.

An absolutely wonderful place to visit with the family! My visit was with a group of adults but I wish I had my littles ones with me that day. The Redwoods are breathtaking and with such a short hike, they would have loved to explore all the nooks and crannies of the place. There’s access to a waterway to enjoy. Small creeks and larger river access is there. Everyone around us seemed to be just as happy to explore the grounds. It’s a gem to visit!

Wow! What an amazing forest! I was there at the beginning of January and everything was so green and lush! I am hooked and will be going back! God sure made us a beautiful playground!! Birds were singing, very few people, hiked on a great trail for about 8 miles, and no rain. Definitely drive thru if you are unable to hike!

I took so many photos, we were there almost all day. We went on the trails and drove the 6 miles on Howland Hill Road, you’ll be on a glorious back road through lovely Redwoods. The trees are huge. This can be a bit rough but not with potholes or anything (I have been on allot worse. You don’t want to take a vehicle over 21 feet. There is trees very close together. The road is only made to drive one vehicle so you must move over when another vehicle approaches. Bring a lunch, hiking shoes and have a great time. No dogs allowed on all trails they do allow on some: so be prepared.

Absolutely one of our favorite spots to stop! No day fee at a few pullout spots along the road. The campground area has one but worth it for the swimming area! I'll never get over how massive these trees are and can only imagine the root systems. This spot had a 1 mile loop on flat and easy ground.

We traveled from Oregon down to California stopping along all the redwoods we could, this was the first park we visited, and it was by far the best one. Perfectly quiet, not overly crowded or touristy. This park is the perfect old growth forest, purely serene and beautiful.

Majestic! Nature is absolutely amazing. Trees that are so huge that everything else seems so small. Some are over 2,000 years old and the base more than 20 feet around. The Smith River follows the path of the trees. Amazing! Highly recommend.

Just amazing! The wonder of Mother Nature! Please leave your dogs home or in the car because while these trees are majestic, they also need protecting. (And dogs aren’t allowed…ahem…don’t be those people!) Go and see these before another fire threatens them.

This place is so amazing. We stayed at the campground and it was a very awe-inspiring place. The rangers were all very knowledgeable and helpful, one even told us about where to see the Salmon Spawning (the bridge on Walker Road) and that was probably one of the coolest things we saw on our trip!

Photos just can’t do it justice. This was one of our favorite hikes on our family trip to the Redwoods State and National Parks - the trees were incredible, and the path was easy and level — perfect for families with littles, seniors, or those needing to take it easy. It took us about 45 minutes, stopping to take lots of photos!

Amazing small grove of old growth redwoods. The short trail starts with a paved walk with a slight decline from the parking area. We explored the area and took a bunch a photos and only chalked up a little over a mile.
There are restrooms at the trail head in the parking area. Good bit of parking, but could fill up fast on a busier day.
Highly recommend this small but stunning grove!

Beautiful old growth redwoods and many downed trees, making for an interesting study. We took the River Trail to Stout Grove and enjoyed the views of the Smith River, but it would take this to a moderate hike (rather than easy) and it’s about two miles round trip. Use the large parking lot (with restrooms!) and the paved trail down to the grove for the easier version.

Sacred. Peaceful. Absolutely soul-stirring. John Muir said, "The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness." You will feel precisely what that means in this place.

I've been here twice now. Once for a bucket list visit, then again recently after moving here, I brought a friend visiting me from FL. I love that I now live in Southern Oregon so I can come visit here often, it's just so peaceful and beautiful. The trees🌲are just amazing, and the Smith River that runs through it is spectacular, the clearest, bluest river I've ever seen.

A large grove nestled in the heart of the redwoods National park. The trails are very wide and easy to navigate. There is an element of free form site seeing as you can walk around, up and over some very large downed redwoods. There is a quick loop that takes you through most of the tails that is .2 miles.
Brett Gottfried — Google review
Ok to be real I didn't explore the end where you park. It was the drive there that I loved. Several places to pull over and explore. Hollowed out redwoods from lightning strikes, trails and the river.
So many hidden gems. So don't go from point A to point B. Play in the middle.
Lisa Fitchpatrick — Google review
Short loop. Really different formations on the trees. Saw a lot of fallen ones which in certain areas made it feel other worldly.

Visited April 1st. Really nice walk through huge trees like everywhere. A bit rain but that seems to make it look all the more cool.
Robb Ehmann — Google review
Someone once told me if you seen one redwood tree you have seen them all. WRONG. Each tree has a unique feature and the immense size of them makes you know how small you really are. The loop trail is worth the time and don't hurry. Times like these are to be savored and enjoyed. Life is too short to hurry through places like this just so you can you was there. You may not have tommorrow to get a second chance to enjoy it today.

I thought the casino was very clean overall. staff is very friendly, the restaurant had really good food, came in a timely manner. the restaurant staff a wonderful job, I stayed at the hotel , the room is very clean, the bathroom is very clean. several of the items in the bathroom were crooked when they were installed by the maintenance guys but you know who cares. the shower was very clean. the shower head was clean . I used to be a maintenance guy so I look for these things. bed was very clean, sheets were clean, they were changed u could tell. everything look to be wiped down and sanitized. the balcony was clean. the only thing that overall that I did not like was the filtration to get the cigarette smoke out of the casino air. I feel as Seven Feathers has a way better filtration system or at least there's does a better job because when I walk in there I don't immediately get hit with a very strong smell of cigarette smoke. you will smell that but to those that are very sensitive about it probably not going to want to be in the casino very long. but other than that it's four stars I'd recommend it to anybody that likes to gamble and wants a clean room and a good meal!

The hotel is super nice! Was pleasantly surprised how well appointed the rooms were. Very roomy, modern, and clean. Has mini fridge and microwave. Has a ChargePoint EV charger, which you pay for, but I’m knocking off one star because even though I’m a hotel guest, and paying for the charging, after 3 hours it charges you $2/hr for parking while charging overnight. The parking lot is pretty much empty or at 50% capacity, no one else using the EV, there are 2 stations with 4 plugs. I don’t think I should have to pay extra for parking when I’m already staying there and paying for the juice. Casino wise there are only TWO tables in the whole place, and only one was open for blackjack. Staff was fine.

Chose this place because of the Casino and it was on the route of a long day on the Pacific Coast Hwy. Room was as advertised and the associates were very nice. The restaurant served decent food but it seemed to be prepackaged type. But it was still tasty. Had a great time at the Casino, actually left with a little more than I started with. Sodas and coffee are free, but alcohol drinks must be purchased at the bar, then you can take them to the Casino.

Best Casino I've been in ever. Why? It's very small but filled with 300 slots and table games. Everything is easy to.get to. Less people then larger casinos and it was great. Very clean. Nice people all around. Free coffee and soda bar was awesome since caffeine ended is my thing. Plenty of parking. A place I'm going back again and again.. Didn't get a room there but I seen them. Even though lost a little had so much fun game play.

I was driving down the beautiful coast line of Southern Oregon, fully enjoying the beauty and feeling blessed. I needed to fuel up and wanted to avoid paying California's higher gas and food prices, so I pulled into the Luck 7 Casino fueling station. What a find!
Beautifully designed and well managed facility. There are a few slots available at the fuel station so we stopped to play after filling up the tank and buying affordable snacks and drinks. We were doing well and made our way to the main casino where the luck continued.
The restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced for the quality of the food.
The entire experience was great, from start to finish.

My husband and I stayed here for our first year wedding anniversary we have been together for 18 years now. I was disappointed that it seemed like everyone else was hitting jackpots but us and the junior suite didn't have a balcony that was weird and super small. We went back down to the front and ended up staying in the prince island suite. That is a beautiful suite with an electric fireplace a sitting area a bedroom and 2 bathrooms it's worth it. The only things it's missing is a nice pho rug in front of the fireplace for a romantic night and a hotel book that tells you everything about their hotel and casino I was shocked they didn't have one with how nice it was there. Every single employee was over the moon amazing and seemed happy to be there. The food was delicious my husband can't stop raving about those tacos I loved the salad bar and the breakfast I don't think I have ever finished my breakfast but I did there. From the front desk afternoon morning night and then morning all the employees were outstandingly fabulous helpful kind and knowledgeable. Thank you to all you hard working people and we very much look forward to our next visit. Please let us hit a jackpot next time.

Thoroughly enjoyed the fresh clean accommodations. While the menu might seem limited, we were amazed with the fresh salad bar. The bleu cheese dressing was the chunkiest I've ever had. The biggest surprise was the Parmesan Halibut. The accompanying sauce was a flavor sensation. And we were attended discreetly as if we had reserved the entire restaurant for ourselves.

I was playing a bonus round on one of the machines when it suddenly switched to regular play at max. The button wouldn't work to stop the game play. I even put my hands in the air as I was looking around for help. Needless to say, it played it all the way to zero. I went to the cashier and told them what had happened. They gave me one of those "yeah right" looks and said they'd call an attendant. They never did. I sat there for about an hour. I finally was approached by a floor supervisor. I told her my issue and she said asked if I used a players card. I told her that I never do. She said that unfortunately they could not help me. I asked if they could review camera footage since there was one directly above me. She told me that they wouldn't be able to see the amounts being played and the angle was all wrong. I could immediately tell she was lying. If the cameras couldn't pick up the image from waist high off the ground while in direct line of sight of the camera, what good is their security footage? That doesn't make guests feel safe.
"Sure we have cameras, but they don't have a clear picture." Does their facial recognition software work properly when people move around? If they can't get a clear picture of a still shot, what hopes that their cameras work well enough when someone says they won a jackpot then the machine gliched and took their winnings?
Any person who was trespassed or blamed for any issue whatsoever with footage from the camera's should ask them to prove it with their footage. Because from a floor supervisor's words, the cameras don't work too well.

We were excited how the room looked when we walked in. It was really big and spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. But there was no blanket and we had go ask for one. The doors in the hotel were very noisy. You could hear them all night long slamming in our wing. The hotel was dog friendly, but you could not go to the casino or the restaurant or leave your dog in your room. There was a smell for 2 days off and on. It just was bad. But overall it was still a great stay.

We had a really lovely evening here. We came in our RV and parked up near some others. We then went to security and registered for free overnight parking (you could stay for up to 3 nights). Security were extremely friendly and laughed when we asked about dress codes and if we were OK (they later checked out the car park). We then wandered around the casino and set aside a small amount of money for some fun. The chashiers were very friendly, the blackjack table staff were also very friendly and showed us the ropes of the game as we had no idea what to do. We won a little and lost some more and had a load of fun. We chatted to one of the players who we then met again the next day in Walmart. It was a really lovely experience and I'd give them all employee of the year awards.

Beach dotted with striking rock formations, bird-watching sites, trails & a campground with yurts.
This is my favorite OR coast campground. I love all the basalt rocks on the shore here. There are 4 beaches, separated by rocky outcroppings. At low tide you can walk around the rocks separating the northernmost beach and it’s neighbor.
The beaches are all different; my favorite is the small Rocky Beach which is the 3rd one counting from north to south. This beach has some sand and a lot of short basalt rocks with sea stars and sea anemones and several enormous basalt rocks just beyond the shore in the water.m
On Beach 2 you can walk around a huge rock at low tide if you don’t mind wading just a bit. On the back side you are between two enormous rocks. There are many sea stars, limpets, barnacles, and sea anemones clinging to the base of those rocks.
Beach 1 is very small unless you wade across the creek which isn’t more than several inches deep, but of course the water is cold.
From the campground there is a trail through the woods to the access for beaches 1 and 2. They also have parking there. Another trail from the campground takes you to beach 3, the Rocky one. And down the entrance road a bit is a trail to beach 4, the southern most one. That beach is very wide and extends well beyond the park. Beaches 1-3 are only accessible from the park. We visit in February, usually, and none of the beaches are crowded, but there are always more than one family there.

Nice well maintained park. The staff were pleasant, the guests were pleasant, the maps they provide were helpful to show us all the trails that are around there. The beach is beautiful with nice big waves. Everyone seems to know it's a good one. There are rarely spots available at this park. We did a random impromptu visit because we happened to notice they had a spot available! I would definitely recommend a visit. It is good to note that it is also a day use park not just a campground. So if they don't have sites available you can still use the day use area.

Beautiful campground, 🚲 allowed. Caution with large trailures backing in to your spot can be tricky. Single Showers, bathrooms for 3 threwout. Full hookup or limited depending on cost, tent sites or trailures in same loops. Good for the price. Wildlife does visit so put trash away don't leave food out. We had a small skunk one night, thankfully our dog slept threw(dogs allowed on leash) or we may have been sprayed. Beautiful greenery and flowers, saw stellar Jay's , Robin's, crows, hummingbirds in July-August.
Short walk downhill to the beach, path needs fixed wear good 👞. Beautiful beach, often shells, stones, drift wood, crabs, sea grass, sometimes starfish visible on rocks to the left. No fires on beach allowed.

Harris Beach has been my favorite beach along the Oregon coast. I have been going there every year since I was 13. I took some of my husband's ashes and left them there. That was our favorite place to go also. We were married for 40 years and went over at least once every year. He asked that I leave part of him there, so I did. It is so beautiful and peaceful there.

The beach was absolutely beautiful. Cool and overcast, perfect beach day. Amenities: overlook, picnic area, bathrooms, outdoor shower & outdoor foot shower and most importantly for us, a handicap ramp for our son. Highly recommend!

I normally tent camp. But I was down for several days for work and needed something a bit more and didn’t want to pay for a hotel. In comes the only available Yurt at Harris Beach State Park.
Nice campground. I have been before. Always as a tenter. But got my hybrid tent/hotel experience this time with a Yurt. New floors. Well maintained. Friendly staff.
Campground and bathrooms and showers were very clean. Really close to Brookings. Great beach access. There is a playground nearby for kids and plenty of hiking near by as well.
Only complaint is the firewood they sell sucks. It is super wet. So. Bring at least one bundle of dry wood if you buy from here. Mix the dry with on site wood to get fire going.

Excellent state park facility with friendly staff, quiet campers, amazing views, and good privacy. The shrubs between sites make the closeness of the camps feel quite secluded. The beach walking is a 10/10! We really enjoyed sun setting over the scenic coast. The water pressure in the showers is incredible too.

Don't hesitate to stop by this place and spend time. Why? Just go and don't worry ,,, I couldn't stay for a long time because there is no RV parking lot, but there are really cool sights in the morning and it will be ecstatic to walk along the beautiful trail. strongly recommend this place

Love this beach! Easy to find, right off the highway, plenty of parking. A little steep incline to get down to the beach but otherwise a very nice beach with beautiful views! The bathroom area even had a little foot washing station to wash the sand off your feet which I thought was really cool.

We finally got to stay here! Such a beautiful part of the Oregon coast! It is January, so pretty wet. But we can see the ocean from our RV. So many trails to walk on. Will definitely return.

Definitely one of my favorite state parks in all of Oregon. The campground is pristine and the short walk to the beach provides some of the most spectacular views on the southern coast!
Sprawling green space with a bandshell for summer concerts, play areas & sports facilities.
Beautiful park with amazing variety of sculptures, flowers, plants, trees, shrubs and succulents. Kids loved the play area, too!

Blast from the past! We totally loved this old school park and playground. Definitely rough around the edges, some broken parts, minimal graffiti which was surprising but awesome. Bathroom was atrocious, no tp, broken stall doors. Park grounds were beautiful, tons of flowers, even saw deer as we ate a picnic. Saw maintenance crew about, seemed active and emptying garbage etc. The awesome retro playground is enough to bring us back, let alone the gorgeous nature areas. Please consider fixing the broken parts on playground! 🙏(Missing tires, too low bark chips, ripped weed barrier, broken music pipes, broken wooden beams.) Otherwise, Wonderful visit and will be back.

Stopped here on the way to another stop. What a beautiful place, of course, it is Winter, not much in bloom. But the Chapel!? Would be an awesome wedding venue. Tried to use the restroom, it was locked. Need to return during Spring. We saw lots of dogs and owners getting in their steps.

We did not plan our trip to coincide with the festival of lights, and we're delighted that it was happening while we were there. This was one of the best community Christmas light displays that we have ever seen, if not the very best!

Wonderful Christmas festival/ light show over the holidays at Azalea park! Really impressive! Lights were Everywhere, covering so many trees and bushes along the walking paths and very BEAUTIFUL!!! Several winter and family friendly themes, sectioned out by many, many Brookings sponsered businesses. *A beautiful Nativity scene, A Very Large Christmas tree with holographic light show and holiday music...lit up Angels, ice skaters, butterflies, Reindeer, etc.etc. Free hot cocoa and cookies too! Great Joy, and dog friendly to boot! Loved it!

Quriky for sure. Beautiful, unexpected wedding venue. The trail is actually a frisbee golf course, but hey, still a nice path. Lots of memorial benches and stones, so clearly folks want to spend their eternity’s there. 🥰

We visited the park for the holiday lights festival. 3 millions lights for the entire setup I believe. It was great to see but a bit too crowded for my liking. It is dog friendly so I loved that! Just a tip that the entrance fee is $6 cash and $2 for the glasses. Parking on site is free and plenty of street parking too.

Sometimes, when creative people post things online in a creative attractive way, it gets people like me to take a visit and see what the poster is posting, in real life. And the light show at Azalea park in Brookings, OR was one of those posts, there haven't been that many, but the digital creator for this place (online), did a pretty good job! 🌟
So off I went on another solo road trip into Brookings, OR! The best way to travel these days, solo! And it was wonderful, freeing, alive, fun, and just a little scary going around the slightly wet and slippery mountain on the winding roads. Yet it was still good! I arrived a little early to try to visit the town, not get lost and have something warm and filling to eat < the eating part didn't go so well. :(
Night fell pretty quick and off to the light show I went. $3 entry fee and free parking, the parking lot is a little small, but lucky me it wasn't very crowded :) and it wasn't very cold either! It was so grand. Lights everywhere, colorful glorious lights, twinkling, shimmering, glowing, festive happy music playing in the background, easy smooth walkways and pathways to walk along and of course. well lit! Moving and still displays, themed and generic ones, places to sit and rest, as well as the "Kodak Moment" spots.
Benches tucked away amongst the trees to sit and take in the festive feeling and mood of the night's event. An awe-inspiring feel. Just a good overall feeling of peace, joy and freedom! A good warm feeling. Thanx to the creative poster on Instagram, for making the adventure interesting!

A very well maintained and beautiful park. Lovely old-growth rhododendron and azalea. Nice walking trails meander through the park with benches to sit and rest or just relax. The playground looks awesome! Good parking and restrooms.

My visit to Azalea was nothing short of magical. It truly brought back some of the wonderment of childhood. The Christmas lights they display during the holiday season are amazing. The hot apple cider and cookies help, too.

Beautiful city park with lots of open space to enjoy. Awesome kidtown! Very well maintained fields. Would give 5 stars but the restrooms are deplorable. Can't even lock the one stall in the women's restroom by the playground. Which is the only restroom available year round during all hours.

Nice little park with room for kids to play and parents to walk out sit and relax. Could have used more seating in the shade, but we were there on a warm day.
The park has lots of amenities like basketball courts, ball fields, the Kid Town play structures a gazebo and off course, the Capella structure that is pretty amazing. Just wish we could have gone inside but from the vandalism in other parts of the park, I can see what they have to keep it locked up!
They also have restrooms and lots of grassy areas.

The Christmas lights were gorgeous but the crowds were crazy. They needed to make the sidewalk one way.

This forested coastal park with a trail & beaches offers picnicking, fishing & hiking.
Absolutely worth the 6 hour drive! As an elopement photographer, this location is perfect for anyone wanting a unique location to elope! There is a bit of hiking involved, but on a sunny day, it's not hard to hike down too.

This section of the Oregon coast is worth the time to explore. Each pullout offers new, fantastic views of rugged coastlines, rock arches, land bridges, and coastal forests. There is a multitude of trails to explore as well. One of the best stretches of 101.

Made multiple stops throughout the park and thoroughly enjoyed each one of them. Some have moderate hikes so be mindful of what you’re getting yourself into. What goes down must come back up. We can’t wait to come back and see more!

Would not recommend. We went to the natural bridge and definitely not worth the 6 hour drive. Can’t get anywhere near the actual area just on a look out landing super high up. Even hiking down it’s extremely muddy and dangerous right at a cliffs edge with nothing but ocean hundreds of feet down to your death. We took about 3 different trails and none lead us closer just a maze through overgrown prickly bushes and mud that felt like quick sand. Also it you type in “Samuel H boardman in your GPS it does NOT take you directly to the natural bridge you have to keep driving for quite some time before you find it and still that wasn’t easy. Would not have drove this far if I had seen a review like this I would have know what to expect.

Shows up as Secret Beach also on maps. It's parking on the side of the road, so no real indication it's a park. Moderate hike down past a cute waterfall to a little more treacherous descent to a beautiful beach that has a great swim area. Poison oak everywhere so be aware.

My daughter hiked the Oregon Coast Trail from Coos Bay to Brookings. I met her most days and hiked 4-7 miles each day with her. I hiked most of the trail with her through the Samuel H Boardman Corridor. The OCT trail does not appear to be heavily traveled, was not well-marked, and not well-maintained, but is beautiful!
So glad we made this stop. Within a few minutes of arriving, Gary arrived and gave us a very thorough history, along with many personal stories. Much of the museum is maintained by volunteers (former jumpers, or their family), so its small but passionate. We stayed for ~1.5 hours, with a small gift store selection at the end of the tour with a donation box.

The base has a long history of Smokejumpers. Started in 1943, the museum covers the history of the Smokejumpers who parachuted into remote areas of National Forest to extinguish fires caused by lightning. Their lives, their dedication, their gear and smoke planes are highlighted in this museum. "Rob" gave us a wonderful and insight tour into the lives of a smokejumper.

An amazing experience, one you should not miss!! The courage and bravery of these remarkable people are only surpassed by their level of expertise and knowledge of these elite teams of warriors! Take the time to see this incredible place!

Saw this on the map whilst on a road trip - it was right off the highway & we decided to turn in.
What a great little museum - I never knew about smoke jumpers until this very visit! Plenty of photos & actual kits & equip to see. Wish I had more time there!
We just wondered around for self-guided tour but the volunteer (former smoke jumper) was more than happy to guide/answer questions/share his experience.
Admission is free, they have souvenirs on sale & a donation box. Do donate if you can & support this place of great historical value (I'm not from the USA & loved it!)

We were initially a bit skeptical because there were no attendants and only a sign on the door saying to call Gary (we came in the middle of a Tuesday).
I'm so glad I did. He showed up quickly and walked our party of three around the whole site. Gary was a Smokejumper at this base and provided amazing insight and some awesome stories about his time there. He was able to tell us about personal stories relating to many of the photos and items which we would never have learned otherwise.
I would have been happy with this visit if we had paid $20, but for a completely free guided tour from someone with first-hand experience, this is a must-go. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you are at all interested in history.

What a brilliant SEASONAL hidden gem!!! It’s a must-do stop on the Redwood Highway, just south of the small town of Cave Junction. I believe they’re only open seasonally between April-November, so check before you stop in. The tours are given by the retired Smoke-Jumpers themselves....the stories, the experiences, the knowledge to be shared is overwhelming. Truly a must see and hear experience. Many of the jumpers were also in Vietnam, giving a whole new perspective on life. Parking is abundant. Tours are FREE, but please make a donation in hopes to keep this museum open!!

They have guided tours by men who were smoke jumpers back in the '60s. That was pretty cool. He said they have to bring the buildings back to the condition they were in the '60's. They had to change window back to single pane and lay the office out the same way it was. They have a photo to help them get it there. They have put a lot of work into it.
I gave it a 4 star because they were having a meeting in one of the biggest room with all the photos. The meeting was about whether to shut the place down or not.

Very cool and educational. It is absolutely worth going off for! No one was there when we arrived but we called the number on the door then Dan showed up within 5 minutes and gave us the tour. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We will definitely stop next time we are in the area.

We organized a group of seven friends to take the tour. Gary, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the facility. It was interesting to learn how important and effective the Siskiyou Smoke Jumper facility was in stoping HUNDREDS of fires before they became out of control conflagrations. The museum is very hands-on. You will walk through the parachute sewing and packing rooms, see the suits worn by the jumpers and see equipment they used. Gary explained the process of selecting a landing site and how the crew would judge the wind and other conditions before jumping from the plane. You will get an understanding of the extreme and dangerous conditions the jumpers worked in. Often times the jumpers would work in pairs and after jumping onto a fire site and working for hours to extinguish it, the jumpers had to pack it all out by foot, the terrain was too rugged for vehicles. They would gather all the equipment, roll up their parachutes and any other items that were dropped to them and load all this onto backpacks often weighing 150 pounds. The hike out usually involved an overnight in the woods and often took several days. The pilots would fly over the hikers to check on their safety and drop food to them if necessary.
Very good experience, very informative. I highly recommend visiting the Siskiyou Smokejumper Museum at the airport (3S4) just south of Cave Junction.

Wonderful and important local museum with national significance. Located at the sisk you smoke jumpers base in Cave Junction that was stupidly closed in the early 80s, the information there and all the amazing pictures and equipment on display truly show how important this base was and why it shouldn't have been closed as well as how crucial smokejumpers are to keeping our forests safe and our lungs safe from smoke. Please visit this place. It's primarily former jumpers that acquired the buildings and the land lease and keep it going. Donations welcome, but even if you can't donate please go and learn!

Awesome educational experience. We really enjoyed the tour by Gary. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. It was a great experience. I would love to go back.
There are a lot of really pretty cats. The park isn't doing tours right now so we looked around by ourselves but the handlers(?) were walking around and available to answer questions. And each cat has a plaque by it with a lot of interesting information. A lot of the smaller cats just look like housecats, but as the lady put it, "the smaller the more vicious". Definitely don't try to pet any of them! But you can tell they're very well taken care of.
Katie Martin — Google review
A great deal! It was 18$ and the park itself isn’t very large (~.25 mile loop). We were able to get extremely close to the cats and you have the option to join the guided tour where the staff member feeds and talks about the different cats. I would recommend hopping on the guided tour which may take about 1.5 hours total, but this was you’ll see the cats that would be sleeping otherwise.
The also had some cute otters!
Daphney Stanford — Google review
Very clean, well maintained, flat, and great for older people. Wheelchairs were available to use for free. The cats looked good and seemed to enjoy interacting with the handlers. As much as I hate to see these animals in cages, none of them come from the wild. Some are endangered, and none of them can survive in the wild. They are an active breeding facility, and the animal enclosures are clean.

Definitely go on the tour! The guide has snacks to make the kitties come closer for a better look. Very informative too. We got to see some very rare cats that, unfortunately, will probably go extinct in the near future.
They also have otters, porcupines, and free roaming peacocks!

My family has enjoyed the park twice now. Eight years ago a mother was in labor and we got to see her offspring this time. The staff is very knowledgeable and genuinely care about all the cats. You can tell they are well cared for. I will be back to see them again.

Loved walking around an environment where you can get close enough to really see each amazing animal in a calm environment. Very informative about each animals habitat. They have tours where they tell you about the animals in the park, friendly staff they have a souvenir shop a small snack bar.

Great place to visit if you like watching big and small cats (small in size... but they'll still eat your face if you get too close).
They have constant tours going that lead visitors through the park to show all animals and give lots of details. I've learned a lot!
The tour guide carries a pouch with pieces of meat to get the attention of each animal and to get them closer to the public to show themselves in full glory. Wonderful, majestic animals, all in their own right!
After the tour, you can walk around freely to revisit the animals or join the next group to do it all over again.
This place is good for 2 to 4 hours of exploring.

We really enjoyed how close we got to these cats. Take the guided tour, so much info and the cats know they'll get a treat so they come close. The cats seem very happy, which is a plus.

Took my daughter and girlfriend to see the cats. It was a really good experience, pretty worth the cost of admission. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide variety of cats as well as some other animals. My only complaint was when we bought 58 dollars worth of souvenirs and gave the cashier $60 and he said thank you have a nice day and never offered me change...
Kush Zombie — Google review
Amazing to see these animals so close. The tigers didn’t care for me much and I would have been eaten at least three times of the fence wasn’t there. According to the guides, they don’t like men, tall men, bald men, men with facial hair, etc. I check all of those boxes. They explained it’s a dominant thing. You can tell the employees have a real love for the cats and the facility was very clean and the animals were well fed. A Carol Baskin look alike, dressed in 5 different cat prints, was in the tour and the leopard wanted to eat her. All in all it was a great time for me and my daughter. I’ve never been so close to such massive cats. Literally two feet away.

Honestly one of the best "zoo" experiences I have had. With any private zoo or safari, I always have my reservations, however Great Cats was excellent. We arrived at opening and joined the tour. At each stop they explained in depth about the cat and fed them a little breakfast. The up close interaction by the keeper with the animal really allowed us to see them move and interact. The keeper was very knowledgeable and answered all questions they kids and adults had. The 1.5 hour experience was outstanding. On top of this, the park is a participant in breeding programs and rescue. Highly recommended for anyone who loves cats of all types.

Very well taken care of cats. We've been to many zoo's, safaris, and other amusements that involve animals and none have even remotely compared to The Great Cats of the World regarding care, atmosphere, staff, and happy seeming animals. So grateful we drove by, by chace, and decided to stop. We will come back. Thank you.

We traveled from British Columbia Canada to see this amazing place the manager definitely made the experience a positive one the wealth of information that was given was outstanding. I definitely learned some new things about our bigger feline friends and was very impressed with how the place was kept all animals had plenty of space to do what they liked and were never forced to come close or do their cute tricks when we come back to town I'll definitely like to visit again I highly recommend a visit if you've never visited and make sure to get a guided tour as it makes all the difference!
Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve is a fascinating destination for those interested in geology and outdoor exploration. The caves are composed of intricate marble formations, which create huge underground caverns that can be explored through guided tours. The tour lasts about an hour and a half, during which visitors can witness unique calcite formations and learn from knowledgeable guides. It's important to bring warm clothing during the tour as the temperature inside the cave is around 44 degrees Fahrenheit.
Loved It! Climbing down into the caves was awesome! Like only seen in the movies. Even if the park is closed and the main cave is closed, there are still other open caves to explore and a beyond piece full beautiful hike. Please bring a change of cloths and shoes if going in the caves as a rare fungus from in the caves can harm the natural habitat. Aside from that, have a great time!

It was a nice cave to visit and very easy. The roads are being repaired. You need to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled ticket time. Drop off your party way past the parking lot at the visitors center. Google may route to the gate entrance, it's 6 miles past this to the parking lot
It's pitifully small compared to caves back east. Mostly a local attraction.
They have a nice trail continuing in a loop up the mountain with some small canes after you are done with the tour.

The tour was informative. The rock formations in the caves were awesome. I would like to take the candle cave tour sometime. I would also like to stay at the Chateau after they reopen it and hike some of the trails around the caves. After you finish the tour, take the longer trail back to the Visitor Center. The views are spectacular.

I was on a retro tour of my youth and revisited the site after a couple decades. I was pleased to see the place was largely the same as when I was a kid. The lodge where my family and I stayed was closed, but the pool in the back that used to house a breakfast cafe was still accessable, though the ghosts of breakfasts past were all that remained of my memory of the place. Tour was informative, path was user friendly for the most part and even in clostrophbic conditions I still felt fairly uncaged. Wouldn't recommend sandals tho... definitely bring a hoodie

It was an amazing tour. Inside the cave it was about 44 degrees, so be sure to bring a jacket. The tour was about 1 hour and 30 mins and it was truly worth it. The guide we have was very knowledgeable about the caves and went into detail about the formations. There are some low areas (45 inches at the lowest) and some pretty steep stairs. It is very amazing though, I would definitely recommend it.

So if you have experience with other caves, you might not be impressed but otherwise this was a good experience. Heck the road up was half the fun. The cave is illuminated and the 1 mile trip is pretty well laid out and even the 523 stairs weren't too bad though some can be slippery. At 90 minutes, I still would have liked it to be a bit longer to get more pictures. Our guide, Tyler did a fine job telling us the story and history of the cave.

I loved the Oregon caves! It was a magical experience!
I visited on a Saturday in July. My companion and I hadn’t reserved a tour. We ended up calling the Illinois Valley Visitor Center - they gave us a heads up about available tours and timings. So, we drove to the Illinois Valley Visitor center (which is on the way to the main Oregon Caves visitor center from where the tours start) to make reservations for the discovery tour. You can purchase the tour tickets here and then proceed to the caves.
Since self-guided tours are not permitted(and for good reason), do plan for and get reservations in advance if you can!
The route from the Illinois Valley visitor center to the caves is only 15-20 miles - but takes an hour due to the uphill winding road.
The caves themselves were awesome!! The stalagmites, stalactites, columns, draperies, bacon ribbons, etc. were so beautiful! The tour itself was super informative too! A shout out to the rangers here - they were awesome and shared very interesting geological information throughout the tour. My favorite parts of the tour were the ghost room, lost paradise and the part where the ranger turned off the lights to give a feel of how dark it truly is down there!! 😅
While we didn’t have time to explore other trails in here, the whole Siskiyou forest around looked gorgeous!!

A very interesting hike with a decent amount of history behind the caves. My tour guide was very knowledgeable and considerate while leading the group through the caves.
I will admit I was a little disappointed by how constructed (flat platforms, grated walkways, and spotlight lighting throughout) the cave was; having explored other less frequented caves before I enjoy the natural/rugged atmosphere of caves but I understand the reason for the construction to make it more accessible as a national park, just not as much my cup of tea.
Regardless a really unique and interesting experience, at ~$20 per person, that is very easily accessible by anyone regardless of age. (Light stooping required for taller individuals, and ~500 stairs total over the whole 1 mile tour.) Plenty of flushing bathrooms at both the lower parking lot (1M 1F) and at the visitor center (1M 1F).

This was an incredible experience! Well worth the drive up to the cave site. It was unique, fascinating, and a little bit spooky (but there are lights throughout the whole system, so if you don't want it to be dark the guide can adjust). Our guide was so friendly and told cool facts and stories about the caves, let us stop and appreciate the weird and wonderful finds along the way, and let us see things with various lighting. The distance wasn't an issue, as we stopped many times along the route. There's even a side exit if needed. We also left the cave and headed up to the view point on the way back to the visitors center and it was such a gorgeous view.

It’s a long windy road to get here. I’m in a 22’ skoolie and it was a bit white knuckle, but worth it. The campground south of here is amazing (NP not hookups but quiet and beautiful), but know there is not shade (that lasts for more than an hour) in this parking lot for furry friends, and it gets HOT. Tour is around 2 hours, I’ve done a lot of cave tours, and loved it. Be sure to get tickets because they do sells out quickly (in the summer).

Had a kinda unnecessarily long but very cool tour through the caves on the discovery tour. It took longer because there were people in our group who were purposefully move as slow as possible through the cave. Really neat formations throughout.

1/2 hour from highway— the tour took over an hour inside a chilly cave— only 13 people per tour, no clothing from other Cave can be worn due to spreadable diseases
The Visitor Center explains conditions inside the Cave…. Must be able to crouch down and Waddle Walk short distances
In wet slippery conditions
Over 500 steep steps up and down
Inside the cave. Not recommended for young children or anyone with claustrophobia — bring a jacket!

What an interesting adventure to the Oregon caves. I would recommend the cave tour which was $10 for an adult and $6 for a child. You'll learn a lot. If you get a small group consider yourself lucky! It's 44 degrees inside the cave. Pants are beneficial but you can buy them in the gift store near the museum if you forget yours. Kids sweat pants are $30! I went with shorts and a hoody.... I survived! The drive up the mountain goes all the way to the end of the road so you can't get lost. Just go straight. You can buy a tour ticket right in the office/ museum but you might have to wait a bit incase the tours are already full. Small hikes are available, there's a swinging bench near a little pond it's a nice spot to snack and relax. There's a small interactive museum for kids, coloring station. You can get your junior ranger badge if you pass the test as well. Have a great adventure and watch your head! 500 steps and a 16% vertical grade incline at the end so hiking boots are beneficial if you want to be more prepared.
Went on a scavenger hunt for lavender farms and began with this one. The owner was super friendly and there was a lot of nice products available for purchase. This was the best farm I went to during the first day of the lavender festival, and they set the bar high. Strolling through endless rows of lavender with bees buzzing around on an 80° day with a gentle sprinkle of rain really set a relaxing tone. There is very limited to no phone service within half an hour of this area, so make sure to have your GPS loaded in advance.

The English Lavender Farm is just getting blooming and by the sounds of it will be at full bloom at the beginning of July. We loved getting photos in the fields and shopped in their charming little shop where we enjoyed lavender lemonade and the most delicious toasted sugar shortbread. Such an enchanting place.
Every third weekend in June and mid-July they have the Southern Oregon Lavender Festival where they have a food truck out and they do wreath making workshops among other fun events. A favorite summer thing to do!

Great stop, for locals or tourists. My first visit was on a festival day. It was quite busy and packed. They do a nice job trying to control traffic. Someone hit a parked car and the staff found the vehicle owner. There was a nice selection of vendors and the live music was was terrific. I went again on a Monday, it was much calmer. The smell of lavender inside the shop is sublime. Prices are reasonable and the selection of items is plentiful and fun. Sam, son of the owners was quite friendly and helpful. The field of lavender is a great photo backdrop. And the kids love the ice cream.

Lovely place, well worth the drive. Great place to relax and enjoy some lavender strawberry lemonade. Bet you won't leave without buying a homemade lavendar goodie or having a nice chat with the owners!

Excellent way to unwind on a Sunday afternoon. I happened up here during the lavender festival and got the most wonderful blueberry lavender sangria and a bruschetta salad while listening to live music. Then proceeded to commune with the bees about how lovely the lavender flowers were. Fantastic way to start any week!

Super friendly staff... Owners are active in supporting the community. It's a lovely place worth the drive out to spend some time chilling out in such lovely surrounds. I do recommend bring out water and such if it's hot.

5 star but not because of the wine. When the best bottle is a champagne imported from spain for $17 (good price) Wine 3 star, location having champagne at the river 6 star and tapas plate with rogue cheeses 5 star

It is a beautiful location, just gorgeous, with a wonderful seating area right by the river. The wines are delicious, the food is very good. Basically, it is the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon sipping rosé, and the kids can just play with rocks by the river. There is a lot of room to accommodate bigger groups, and the scenery is really top notch. So peaceful. Now also with live music on Thursdays.

This winery is fantastic! The wines are scrumptious, from the port to the white wines. The fig jam is insanely good, the charcuterie is to die for, and the coconut soup is a rare treat. It's just a wonderful winery. The staff are gracious and charming. They also sell cute kitschy items and we wanted one of everything! They have both inside and outside seating plus seating down by the river. Masks no longer required!!

I didn't take many pictures but this place is a gem in grants pass. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. They have a pond with lots of different ducks and you can buy food to give them. Great place to bring kids or if you are an animal lover.

These folks were AMAZING. The animals had safe and natural habitats. They seemed to be comfortable and some even happy to be on display. The crow had a little rehersed hence she would do and even said "hello." She made a big racket when you tried to walk away. The otters were FANTASTIC!

Was absolutely amazing I take my daughter there at least once a month:) I love what they do there and I love seeing the animals, my daughter is three so she doesn't have the attention span for the lessons or anything yet but I try and learn what I can when I can, about 16$ for an adult and 4 and under are free, or you can buy a membership for a year (which I'll do if I ever an extra 90$ in one go) ...

Went Monday for my daughter birthday her favorite animal is otters 🦦 and I was so excited they had artistic otters that you can book so we did. Was really cool to get to see them work with trainers and see them up close. Luke and Mitch were so cute. I definitely recommend booking this. After we were done with that we walked around and checked out the other animals. Fun family activity.

This is such an amazing and beautiful place. Everything about it is, including their mission purpose.
Please give yourself at least several hours to enjoy walking about, seeing the animals, and learning. You will be glad you did and probably want more time, or to return soon.
They are community supported too so please be sure to show them how much you love the place and things being done. They always need volunteers, as well as donations to keep doing such important and invaluable work.

Great facility! Great cause! Petting zoo… good variety of birds mammals and reptiles they’re caring for. Highly recommend purchasing the guided tour - better for bigger kids and adults. Not rushed and very informative. Volunteers and contributions are crucial to meeting the facility’s goals.

Edit: I used to enjoy this place, especially when they were changing for the better with acquisition of otters, discovery farm, and new experiences for everyone. There were positive changes, and people would visit after YEARS of not being there to say it was completely different and exciting. Now, however, the board of directors (mainly the new President) alienated the staff, managers, and volunteers who were positively impacting the establishment and they all left. As a volunteer who created their museum of conservation, I no longer feel like this is a safe and exciting learning environment for the public.

The habitats for the animals were very natural and open. Staff was so caring and friendly, willing to answer all my questions about the animals I had, and I got to see a very kind staff member explain Nubs' eye medicine as she did it. I really love seeing the animal's names and stories alongside the facts about them as well even though so many of the stories are heartbreaking to read. Thank you for the experience and I look forward to coming again!

Everyone needs to stop supporting this business. ..its no longer going to be a rehabilitation center... all new people took over and the main guy thinks that animals don't feel pain. He has been giving orders to euthanize anything brought in with its eyes still closed and thinks its humane to euthanize by putting baby squirrels in the freezer to freeze to death instead of doing it the correct t way. . I HAVE FRIENDS THAT QUIT AFTER 14 YEARS FUE TO THIS NEW IN HUMANE PRACTICE. AND NOBODY SHOULD CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS PLACE
Ronni Yates — Google review
The fact that there have been multiple mass staff walkouts really speaks for itself. The most recent being around 30 staff members (almost all of the employees), along with many wonderful long term volunteers. For these people, chosing to leave the animals they care about was incredibly difficult, but when the exectutives are making decisions that negatively impact both the welfare of these animals and the employees, they were ultimately left with no choice.
Consider reaching out to Badger Run instead if you find a sick, injured, or orphaned animal.
Abbie Lyon — Google review
Been there a bunch of times but this was probably the best time when we went last week. They brought out quite a few different animals that we hadn't been able to see up close before. It is definitely worth the trip.
Kevin Gambucci — Google review
Best place to educate kids and see all up close. Well taken care of and lived. Will be back!
Rosemary M — Google review
They are more about profits than helping rehabilitate animals, some animals and more than 30+ staff have suffered with new management. And current owners believe animals don't feel pain. Which is referenced when an underweight squirrel was put into a freezer to be euthanized. The reference was brought up over a discussion over this situation going public on social media, current owners daughter admitted this about animals not feeling pain and it was learned by her father. She did remove her comment about admitting it, staff/owners were blocking the public from asking questions about a lot of the situations going on over there with new management. More than questionable when volunteers and staff that have been there for so many years are fired or walk off due to the environment and treatment of animals.

We had a blast! The info sessions and meet and greets every 1/2 hour were very informative. They host events for Mother’s Day and other times throughout the year that look so much fun! Local facility treating local animals and helping keep the wild in the wild.
3 of us booked a full day rafting trip with Morrisons Rogue Wilderness. They offered the options to use the inflatable kayaks (duckies) or riding a raft with others. We had a great time. Our guide, Mika (I hope that’s how he writes his name-sorry 🤭) and all the other guides are super fun guys to be on a trip with. They will walk or raft :) that extra mile for you and your family, friends so you have an outstanding experience on the river. They know the river very well and you feel totally comfortable and safe with them -even with younger kids. Especially if you are a first timer we highly recommend them so you have a great experience with professionals! We had so much fun! Thank you for it!

We are 100% doing this trip again soon… Guides were all (5) amazing, lodges were warm and inviting and the food was fantastic. Tip of the hat to Morrison Lodge staff and Chef Matt, this young man is an excellent chef. You’ll understand why I’ve called him out after your first experience. Our river guide Andrew Serda… Best I’ve had on any of the many (Oregon, Alaska, Calif.) river trips I’ve had over the past 40 years. Never felt more safe and on the fish, like we did w/ Andrew.

This was my first whitewater rafting experience! I tagged along with some friends on a 3 day, 2 night rafting trip and was not disappointed. The food was fantastic, and they took care of everything for us. This is the way to relax! Our guide was Greg, and he was very experienced, friendly, and helpful. Going through Blossom Bar was probably the most intense part for me, but Greg navigated us through it with ease. All the other guides were amazing as well: Rip, Mackenzie, Marcus (who did an amazing job on the meat!), Christian, and Nick. I highly recommend booking a trip and hope to return in the not so distant future! Thank you Morrison's for a fantastic adventure and experience!

We recently did a half day trip on the Rogue. The outfit served a nice lunch before departure at their scenic lodge. The guides were very seasoned and knowledgeable about every nook in the river. Our rafting trip with Morrisons Rogue Wilderness Adventures was nothing short of extraordinary! From the start, the team at Morrisons left no stone unturned to ensure that our adventure was impeccably planned and executed. Whether you're an experienced rafter or a first-timer, they cater to every need.
Our guide Ryan was the perfect blend of knowledgeable, attentive, humorous, and cautious. He lead 2 other rafts at the same time. His love for and knowledge of the Rogue River made the trip all the more fun.
The rapids were perfectly suited for beginners, and the option to solo kayak added an exciting touch of challenge for those seeking it. I definitely made use of it and highly recommend it. Our children, aged 6 and 9, had the time of their lives! Watching their faces light up with joy and excitement was truly priceless.
We saw Ospreys soaring above us and turtles on the shores. We jumped into the river for swim breaks multiple times. The provided lunch was not only delicious, but also thoughtfully prepared, adding to our memorable day. The chocolate chip cookies were.. yeah amazing.
The full day of rafting was filled with moments of thrill, laughter, fun, and filled with awesome surrounding natural beauty.
Our experience with Morrisons Rogue Wilderness Adventures was outstanding and one we will cherish forever. If you are looking for a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty, look no further than a rafting trip down the scenic Rogue River with this excellent crew. My husband and I just finished a raft supported hiking trip of the wild and scenic part of the Rogue river. It exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail and the care and comfort of the guests was perfect. I was worried about hiking such a long stretch and the ability to get in the rafts and hit the water multiple times a day made it so much more enjoyable for me. Our trip leader Sorin and her guides Marcus and Maynard were so welcoming and friendly we felt like family. I highly recommend this company - their care and customer service we’re second to none.

This was my first time river rafting. It was soo much fun! The lunch to start us off was awesome! Great quality food and it felt like home. Our guide Rip was awesome! He made us feel safe and he was soo much fun! He talked and interacted with us and made the trip extra fun! Having the inflatable kayak available to us made it even more fun! I loved it soo much! This experience made me want to book another one with bigger rapids! There was one downfall to the trip. There was a lead guide, named Don or something like that. He was soo rude! Our group fell behind and once we caught up to him he reprimanded our guide in front of everyone! Asking him if he knew how to row and everything ! Saying our guide made it unsafe for everyone. Which is totally not true. This lead guide made his raft and ours feel soo uncomfortable. That was soo unprofessional. He kept making comments to our guide and under his breath that were just so uncalled for and not professional. I would love to book another raft with you all but am hesitant because if that guide is there I won’t book it. I still gave a 5 star because everything except for that lead guide, was amazing ! Thank you!

Our guides, Brent and Soren, made for a wonderful trip. Kind and courteous, they both tended to all our needs despite none of us being sandwich people. Soren allowed us all to row to our hearts content. Highly recommend Morrison’s!
Always on our short list of businesses to visit when we are in town (from Michigan). We had the opportunity to share this experience with our 3 kids this time, and they LOVED it. The artists are always welcoming, informative, and perhaps unintentionally always have made it inspirational for a first timer. Stop in if you are in town and explore, learn and make a purchase 😁. Help keep this artistic trade thriving.

We saw an ad for the Glass Forge in a hotel booklet and decided to spontaneously add it to our coastal hwy trip and we're So glad we did.
Watching the artisans at work, transforming 2000°F glass into stunning pieces of art right in front of you is incredible! From start to on the shelf is an 18 hour process for a multi-color globe, and you can see and feel the dedication to this art in all the people who work there.
The prices are quite reasonable and the staff amazing! On a personal note: we happened in on a rough day for us as parents (a child with a medical emergency and trying to coordinate care away from home), and the way they treated us was extraordinary. I can not recommend them enough and can assure you, we will make sure to add The Glass Forge to our S. Oregon every chance we get as well encourage others to visit as well.

I stopped after the farmer's market and was lucky enough to see one of the artists in the studio creating a beautiful glass piece. I spent about 1.5 hours this morning. Watching them blow glass and telling me all about it. I got to look around the show case and go into the actual working area and it was amazing!! When I was there, they were making all sorts of things. There was a martini glass, shot glass, ornaments, all sorts of things. It was so amazing and all the guys there were fantastic and very helpful.
I even made an appointment to go and make something next month with a dear friend.

Highly recommended!!! They make the glass art on the spot. The showroom has lots of cool pieces you can buy from. If you buy a simple piece, they'll let you take part in making it on the spot, which was very cool. It does take a night for the glass to cool off, so you have to pick it up the next morning. They can also ship it to your home if you don't have the extra day. The staff was all super kind! We will definitely visit again.

This by far was one of the best days out. We cannot say thank you enough to the staff for making our family day so fun. From start to finish they were amazing. We called ahead and made a reservation for our larger group. They explained everything, we all got to make a glass piece. They told us the history, explained how it all works. It was So much fun. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a activity that is off the beaten path, easy for all ages, pretty and easy. Our pieces were even done on time, and all was flawless. Thank you Glass Forge Gallery and studio!
What an incredible experience! We chose the Thrill Seeker to get a good mixture of both the kayak and raft, and both really gave completely different experiences so I'm glad we opted for the full day to fit in both. All the tour guides were amazing, but Disney really made our trip exceptional and so much fun. This was our first time kayaking and rafting on the river and she really helped get us confident and comfortable on the water from the start. She went over verbally what to expect with each set of rapids and how we were going to handle them to help us mentally prepare. She truly knows how to guide and work with a group of completely random people to help make them a team. She also, without hesitation, helped rescue a lone kayaker's kayak from the class 4 rapids and then offered to help get him back to the boat ramp since he had just lost his paddle and belongings. She just went the extra mile with every aspect of today's trip and we can't say enough about how wonderful it was! I will say, another group really struggled because they were NOT listening to their guide and completely talked over her the whole time, so please listen! They know what they're doing if you give them a chance to help you. Thank you Orange Torpedo for the absolutely fantastic day! We will DEFINITELY be coming back for more!

Great trip with Orange Torpedo. We did the half day Salmon River, which was a perfect escape from a hot summer day. Excellent guide - Jackie. There were a number of rafting companies on the river and we noticed Orange Torpedo didn't load up their boats with as many passengers as the other companies. I don't know if this is normal, but it made it more fun to not be crowded in. The only con, their ground transportation is a bit shaky (aka old vehicles), but didn't present a problem.

Excellent adventure. This is a full day of intense rapids and whitewater. A total blast. But be warned, you need whitewater kayaking and rafting experience before going on this trip!! this is not a relaxing flat water experience...it is 6-7 hours of rapids one after the other...
gorgeous clean clear river, very cold water....be sure to wear a wet suit or splash gear. Our guides were total professionals. Well-spoken, great personalities, funny, informative.
Derek was some incredible eye-candy. I had to pick my jaw off the ground a few times.
lots of flipping over and falling out of the kayaks...so be prepared....
this outfitter was one of my favorites...I wished in retrospect I would have hired them for other river trips instead of Row and Ouzel and Western....
the only suggestion was that lunch needs to be taken up a few notches....deli meat sandwiches should be elevated to something nicer...not quite enough food for all of us....the guides did not have enough to eat after we all ate. More protein is needed for everyone
going to do this trip again!

What a wonderful experience! We did a 4 day trip on the Rogue River with OTT. They were fun, safe, informative and accommodating. OTT's guides can explain the history and geology of the river and pointed out many plants, birds and wildlife found on the river. Popping my white waters for the very first time doing a 1 day trip on the North Umpqua River with an amazing group of guides for my birthday weekend. We had a group of 7 and split up into 2 rafts.
Dietz the Team Lead was simple and informative when it came to SAFETY FIRST! Teaching us what to do and not to do before hopping onto the river. One of our friend sprained their ankle and was in his raft and every now and then would jokingly pray before we hit a few gnarly rapids. Of course he one handedly guided them like a pro and our trooper friend survived without a scratch.
Derek our guide was super friendly and totally not an introvert with his humorous jokes and informative "falling rock" and "leaver rocks". Take is easy on the birds though, okay 🤣
Lunch was provided and prepped by the team at the lunch spot midway into the trip.
Absolute favorite part was riding the bull embracing the Amazon Queen!! Least favorite part was ending the day...whomp whomp whomp.
Overall, the experience was 5 🌟 because all the guides including Becca and Lauren were buttkickin awesome and knowledgeable from start to finish!! 10/10 would have to do this again, thank you all so much!

Nice campground next to the river with very nice paved bike paths connecting to the surrounding communities. Grass was a bit overgrown and needed to be mowed. My site's RV sewer drain was plugged but the staff promptly responded and hired a contractor who fixed it. Campground is also next to the freeway but the traffic blended into the background so didn't bother me.

The front gate wasn’t staffed the entire time we were there. Understaffed and/or COVID, I suppose. We had reserved online so we just went to our sites. A ranger arrived about an hour later to check us in. We asked if she would trim a tree that was rubbing against our motorhome, and she said “maybe if we have time”. They never did trim it so after a couple of days we did it ourselves! This was our first time here, and it was not a good impression. There is no screening of who’s coming in or what they are driving. We saw many people sleeping in their cars with piles of junk and trash laying around. Several times there were three or more cars in one site. There were a lot of very old campers and lots of tents. Another RVer we talked to said it had really gone downhill since the last time they were here. The rangers did kick someone out who was being a scary nuisance to us and others. In 8 years of travel, this is one of the few parks where we have felt unsafe. The sites and roads are paved which is a positive. Trees need trimming on all the roads. We saw very few, if any, sites that were level. Most of the longest sites (including ours) have a curve near the front which makes it interesting to park an un-bendable motorhome. Many sites are also awkward to back into due to the angle and trees. There is nice spacing between sites and tall trees that offer some shade. Grass is optional and is losing the battle to dirt and sticky weeds. There are many, many ankle breaker holes dug by ground squirrels and gophers. We even lucky enough to have a broken water sprinkler that we had to cover to avoid tripping over it. Each site comes with a coveted, tired picnic table. The campground is right by I-5 so there is constant traffic noise regardless of your site. The restrooms and showers are old and need a good cleaning. They did have toilet paper and paper towels. There is no WI FII. Verizon was 4g 4 bars. Satellite is possible in some sites. If you are towing, it is best to unhook your vehicle in the amphitheater parking lot or you will block the road at your site. We visited some of the wineries and breweries. It was very smoky when we were there so didn’t do any outdoor activities. Definitely left a bad taste in our mouths!

The only reason i don't give this park,is the proximity to I-5. The road noise will become white noise. So i have to say also with tinnitus and even hearing ringing constantly that i can still hear road traffic. No reason not come and enjoy this place. Happy 4th of July.

It is a very nice park lots of staff all over the place keeping maintenance up. I did wish there were more trees, seemed a little bare between the yurts and even the camping and RV areas could have used a lot more trees between the sites. Over all alot of fun.
There is a nice paved trail that goes from Gold Hill to Rouge River. You can bike , walk, scooter 🛴 or skateboard it. Had a wonderful time.

Nice park, not so much If you are into quiet. The proximity to Interstate 5 makes for a somewhat noisy environment. But the views are stupendous. Good spot to overnight.

We were on a 10 hr road trip with 2 medium-sized dogs. This rest area portion was mid way and a welcome relief for dogs. The large, fenced-in doggy area was awesome. We had lunch on the picnic table located inside doggy area. Walking trail along the river had gorgeous views.

An excellent place to unwind by the Rogue River. Yurts are in their own small loop separate from the rest of the campground. Stunning views of the mountains. Stayed a couple nights in yurt #09. Surrounded by towering trees it was truly an experience. A few things to note: this part of Oregon has lots of creepy crawlies. This includes the campground. A fair amount of spiders, bugs, mosquitoes (during the warmer months) and for the dog lovers, ticks. We did pick up a couple ticks just from walking on the paved path. The yurts are fairly close to I5 so you do get some traffic noise, but it’s nothing excessive by any means. The restrooms and showers were clean and plenty of hot water. Showers accessible by door code and had no issue using them at any time of the day or night. Park staff seemed to be friendly. Firewood is available for $5 a bundle in every loop. I can’t speak for all of the yurts, however #A09 had a strange tile floor. Like the type you see in elementary schools. It was a little off putting as it seemed so out of place, but the yurt was comfortable and had a second small table which was great for playing card games on. Yurts seemed well spaced and quiet. Further in, the loops for RVs seemed pretty tight not leaving anything for privacy or peace and quiet. Appeared to be fairly crowded. Would definitely recommend if you are passing through or just want a little adventure.

Just amazing. The river , the quiet campers, the old oak trees. Camping spots are good. Good job Oregon. ! Loved it!

We stayed in site D21 with full hookups. It's close to the bathrooms and showers near the E sites. It's also walkable to the river. The only con is they don't offer wifi. If you like to watch Netflix before going to bed like me, download before you arrive.

Incredibly clean bathrooms and showers! Beautiful grounds and a friendly campsite host. Right off the interstate, so you will hear traffic, but it’s not bad.

Very nice pathway to ride. At the southern end it becomes a little boring on the straightaway section. I would ride from the bridge to the biggest marijuana farm you've seen and then turn around😎. The river is beautiful for sure, great place to chill out and relax.
