Nice short easy trail from the base of the bridge. The bridge is decommissioned so you can explore without the worry of getting hit. Parking for 5-10 cars. Lots of good spots to take photos of the bridge but also don't underestimate pictures of the river along the trail

A Lovely place to enjoy a walk or a picnic near this picture is covered Bridge.
James Knick (Jay) — Google review
A quiet trip to the bridge was very scenic and beautiful.

Glad we could walk across, needs a sign or plaque about its history though. Love the history of these old bridges.
J&K Paints&Pixels — Google review
Pretty cool architecture for a 150 yr old bridge (1872) over the Sunday River just off the access road to the ski resort.
Andrew Barcham — Google review
It has some nice walking trails next to it.

Leaf peeping led my daughter and I here today! She is from Illinois and here for her first time. Near peak color and couldn't have asked for a better day. This is the only Maine bridge she got to see but I made sure she saw it!
STARSD — Google review
A very nice historical stop with interesting architecture. Worth a visit anytime if the year. We were lucky to catch it in the fall and enjoyed our experience on a misty fall day.

Sept. 29, 2021 - Take several minutes to walk into the PAST ! This is 1 of 9 covered bridges in Maine. Most of these old wooden covered bridges were constructed more than a century ago, prior to the use of steel. Sometimes the local town decides to protect and rehab the old covered bridge? This bridge is in reasonable shape, but there’s no historic plaque?
I rate this a solid 4.5 ! Most of the old covered bridges are isolated, and “not utilized“ anymore to carry vehicles. Most folks traveling west to east between ME & NH, stop to see local colorful foliage outside North Bethel & Newry . . . this is a picturesque spot of the Sunday River, complete with a postcard covered bridge !
This Paddleford Truss bridge is 87 feet long, built in 1872, and was closed to vehicular traffic in 1958.

Always one of my favorite places to stop when driving through bethel. My grandfather brought me here as a kid and it's great to now bring my own children. Love looking for really old cravings in the bridge. Lots and lots and lots of bugs though bring extra bug spray.
Nordic skiing & slopes for all levels at a ski resort with summer hikes, biking & chairlift rides.
A fantastic place to ski with friends and family. Great mountain for all levels. Impeccably manicured, tons of trails open, fast lifts with minimal wait. Food was perfect and fast. Lots of room, inside and out to rest. The staff is amazing, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Plenty of parking with shuttles. My go to slopes only 4 hours from Rhode Island.
Mark McHugh — Google review
One of the most lavish mountains i’ve ever road. The trails were endless and the views were breathtaking. Trails were groomed perfectly and there’s parks for all levels. Would highly recommend.
Charles Bianco — Google review
Amazing resort at a very reasonable price. The had a huge variety of trails and multiple lodges. Would highly recommend whether it's your 1st time or your 100th.
Jesse High — Google review
My favorite ski mountain so far! The staff and people that go here are very welcoming and friendly. Ski patrol is constantly patrolling high peaks ensuring everyone is safe and enjoying the experience. Their terrain parks are 1A, great for all skill levels! I wouldn’t however say it’s a good mountain for beginners. Great for intermediate to expert skiers/ snowboarders. The Foggy Goggle has AMAZING burgers!
Ambar Marchena — Google review
After skiing most major resorts in the US North East Sunday River might take the cake. I was there late March but still decent snow for 50°F. The resort just keeps sprawling and you can go a day or two without hitting the same thing twice easy. Can't wait to go mid season the Glades look amazing. Highly recommend.
Evan Cox — Google review
We love Sunday River, and always stay at the Jordan Hotel so that we can get Coffee Hound cappuccinos every morning at the Northern Lights Cafe. We LOVE this espresso. It makes our vacations here all that much better when we can have a coffee (or three) that we love. Oh, and the skiing is excellent too!
Rob Foley — Google review
Sunday River had opening day, today. All snow was machine-made. This year Sunday Rivers opening day was at the Jordan bowl area. Lalapalooza and another run were open. Jordan 8 was in operation. Skiing was not great but it was good. Machine-made snow was a bit crusty. But, still better than nothing! Go get your turns in before the rain!
Peter Hunter — Google review
We loved Sunday River. We rented equipment and that process was easy and fast. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It had been warm for a few days so it was a little icy on some of the blue runs that were ungroomed on Friday. We skied again on Sunday and they had groomed everything and the skiing was awesome. This place is so big and spread out it never got crowded. It offers a good variety of skill levels throughout the resort. With at least four lodges we never had a problem finding a place to sit while eating. The food is good but overpriced like all ski resorts. Definitely check this resort out!
Charles Grill — Google review
I loved Sunday river resort! As a beginner skier I was able to get beginner lessons while my friends could go on double diamond paths. Can get very crowded on the weekends starting as early as 8am. Highly recommend staying in one of the resort hotels.
Kavya Nagabhushan — Google review
Great l place! Plethora of fun trails for all experience levels, from a first timer to shred master. Lots of different peaks to explore and places to eat. Loved the up-keep of the place and grooming of trails. All the staff are very pleasant, cheerful and always willing to help. We will definitely be coming here next year!
Olga Kovalysheva — Google review
Love this place! Short lift lines, long, W I D E runs and Bullwinkle's really has a decent food selection. Most runs are blue and green however if you are looking for a challenge, there are blacks as well. The terrain park is well groomed with some good kickers and all the boxes. If you're looking for something you need to try out Jordan bowl! The quad that takes you to the peak is like riding in a limousine. This place is definitely five stars! 😉 🏂⛷️
Jason Kovarik — Google review
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, with a good range of trails for all levels, and modern (fast) lifts to keep lines down.
Salvatore Albano — Google review
One of the best on the east coast. Definitely #1 for lift service. They have a heated lift and another that's half lift/half gondola! It's amazing. A huge mountain, with a ton of great trails to choose from. We can't wait to come back!
Lily Hager — Google review
My new favorite ski resort.
8 peaks plenty of trails for beginners to advanced.
Beware your local blue trails are like the greens at the top of Sunday river.
Trails are wide and well groomed.
The Igloo at the base of Jordan's Bowl was a cool hangout
Sunday River is awesome
dtune — Google review
If anyone says Sunday River isn’t world class, then they haven’t been!
By far some of the best skiing/snowboarding in New England.
Every run was fantastic— so wide even the greens were fun!
Tons of trails for everyone, at every experience level.
If you’re worried about going, make the trip, you won’t regret it!
Pro tip: get your hotel and Town and Country Inn just over the line in NH. Inexpensive and only 30min away from Sunday river!
Ben Kahan — Google review
It’s a pretty big ski resort in New England. It has different levels of trails for skiers to go skiing. As a beginner, the green trails here is a little bit challenging for me because the mountain is big so the route is long and a little bit steeper. However, I will like to visit here again when I practice more skiing.
Abbey Chang — Google review
My friends and I had a good time here at Sunday River. It's truly a massive mountain and lots to do. If I were to go back I would try to stay for more than one day. The staff were friendly and the facility was clean for the most part. We did go on a more expensive weekend which made it to be $150 per person. This is definitely more than I would like to have paid since it doesn't come with a meal voucher or any discounts. I think that it's definitely not worth going at $150 each but maybe more towards $110. They did have a party going on that weekend but $18 for some redbull and vodka is too much for something that's not a club
Kevin — Google review
What is there to not love about Sunday River ? Spectacular views, great skiing .. they opened up a igloo at the bottom of Jordan .. walk in and have some drinks (which are ridiculousy over priced), techno music playing. .
Their new lifts are amazing 🤩 heated bubble chairs 🤩

Nature & Parks
Expansive, scenic park, with cross-country skiing & hiking trails, plus hunting & fishing.
We checked out screw auger falls and moose cave today. Absolutely well worth the trip just to see the falls. Photos don't do it justice. Definitely stop by moose cave if you're in the area. Just a small little half loop but still cool 😊
Nicole Stafford — Google review
Hiked the eyebrow trail; unforgettable. Fun and technically challenging hike that had our group taking in the sights, working up a sweat and enjoying the fresh mountain air.
Mackenzie Myrick — Google review
This is an absolutely gorgeous area with amazing waterfalls. The granite bolders and ledges allow you to walk right out to the water, letting you get up close and personal with the magnificence of the river and falls. This stop is worth your time and effort to get there.
Dagny Monette — Google review
Not much information (for an outsider) on what’s around and to see to help plan a visit effectively.
Moose cave was the ‘longest’ walk, interesting, good pathway with lots of wooden stairs.
Mother Falls pretty unimpressive but nice.
Screw Agnew (name may be incorrect) was the nicest with just a short walk.
Catherine Shawarby — Google review
Amazing place. So many trails, waterfalls & caves to explore & visit. Well taken care of. Clean & inviting.
Elie Elkhoury — Google review
Absolutely amazing place to visit any time of the year. Plenty to explore and Screw Auger Falls is such a beautiful display of the raw powers Mother Nature and Father Time possess
Paul Roe — Google review
Super beautiful, especially during the fall season. Not particularly busy this time of year, which made it even better. I'd recommend water proof shoes or boots for hiking as the ground was quite squishy, and mushy.
Kyle Green — Google review
Grafton Notch State Park is an absolutely stunning part of Maine. My family has been visiting for many years and we always enjoy our time there. The state park sits along the Bear River, and the Appalachian Trail. It is a beautiful spot for hiking, picnicking, just relaxing and Moose and Bird watching.
Danielle Brown-Marshall — Google review
Easy to get to the waterfalls. Very nice area. Handicap accessible path to the small fall. Not difficult to access if you have limited mobility. We went in the rain and the water was shallow in many areas so my daughter enjoyed walking on the rocks and dipping her feet in. Would not recommend as a swimming area in the rain but on a calm day would be nice.
Jenna Moon — Google review
beautiful park, nice outhouses, treacherous climb (looking at you eyebrow). make sure you understand what you are signing up for if you venture to eyebrow (check all trails) ... was raining the day we went, didnt really want to slide across the rock at the top.
Kim Gick — Google review
Clean and hidden away from tourists, this is one of my favorite places to drive to. The drive out is beautiful, and the park has a nice little walking path with great water features. There's plenty of nearby hiking trails if that's more your speed.
Peter Paradis — Google review
The park is always so beautiful! Any chance you are able to visit, it is a must. Wonderful views, hikes, waterfalls, and wildlife.
Z P — Google review
(Grafton Notch/Screw Auger Falls) This is a really cool place! We didn't have any expectations, only that it's "worth a look around" by some friends. Past the walkable "slot" in the enormous boulder, there is a waterfall/pool with gorgeous variations of color in the rocks under the clear water. Then we continued down the path, which was fairly moderate with some tree roots and boulders. Lots of colorful mushrooms types to investigate, and beautiful views the entire way of the river and the gorge below us. GREAT way to spend a couple hours!
Thank you for the wonderful memories that'll last us a lifetime. I hadn't been in a decade or two however it was just as exhilarating as it was then. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny and ensured our safety throughout the entire trip.

Have rafted with these guys multiple times over the past several years, and they never disappoint! Having rafted both out west and all over New England, raft guides can sometimes be hit or miss. However, the one thing that consistently sets ELC apart from other companies is how personable and fun the guides make each trip. They are very professional and know their stuff - always felt very safe on each trip. Plus, if you have extra time, their self-guided ropes course is a blast.
Christopher Rutt — Google review
These guys are real professionals. We went on their Rapid River trip last year, and communication before the trip was excellent. They really made sure everyone in the group had a great time. We were pleased that their headquarters in Errol was close to the river and that there was little down time. We enjoyed our trip so much that we are in the process of booking another rafting trip AND a ropes course adventure with them this summer!
M L — Google review
Wow I had an absolute blast! The river has ok rapids for new people to experience it for the first time. The staff was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Our raft guide made sure we were having fun, and they provided the proper gear needed. We did the full day which included a nice little break and they fed us lunch.
Anthony Connell — Google review
GREAT!
Wife and I have gone on several trips with these guys and they're awesome! We love rafting and nothing beats northern New England. The guys at ELC are always fun!. We've tried some other outfits in the past and we felt like they didn't know the best places or were kind of sketchy safety wise but, since finding ELC, we won't call anyone else, they even organized a big group trip for us last summer with some friends and it was the best weekend of the summer, Totally recommend!
Dan Bannister — Google review
White Water Rafting at ELC was the most fun I have had in years! Jim was our guide and he was AMAZING. We expressed to him that we wanted adventure, so he made our trip down the river the roughest he could (but safe, obviously). We are already planning another trip!
Storied resort offering day & night skiing, plus on-mountain lodging & eateries including a pub.
The night skiing was great. Parking is easy and so was getting passes. There is a ticket window right out front. Night pass on Monday was $32 including the card. Mountain uses an RFID card system so once you get the card you can reload it online for even speedier starts.
Lines were very short for the lifts. Summit lift very rarely stopped and we were able to get 16 runs in about 4.5 hours with a short 20 minute break for food.
Great mix of easier and harder terrains. The groomers went out around 430 to provide a nice surface for night skiers. Was not expecting that but a pleasant surprise.
Sam Richardson — Google review
Nice but narrow trails. Decent vertical drop. It would be a very challenging ride in icy conditions, but we went when it was sticky spring snow. The vistas are gorgeous. The lines were very short and the mountain was easy to navigate via the lifts. We parked at the East lodge. It was closed, but there were no cars so we were 25 feet from the car to the lift.
Ryan Soucy — Google review
BIG CHANGES are already apparent at Pleasant Mountain. There is more man made snow on the trails than I have ever seen before. The trails are also wider now and snow cats are doing an even better job of making the surface perfect.
I visited last Sunday and the conditions were excellent from first run to last. Despite the cars being parked well down the road, we didn't wait at any line for too long.
I am very thankful to the previous ownership for making improvements every year and keeping the place open, but I think the changes up there are going to be overwhelmingly positive. I hope they expand the terrain and the season.
If you have had a bad experience in the past, now is the time to give this amazing little mountain another chance!
If you are headed to the mountain the SkiHot ski shop is worth a visit. Either up the road on 302 or at the mountain this ski shop knows what's up. Stylish, affordable apparel, amazing logo gear, great skis and the most knowledgeable staff around.
Asa Bearse — Google review
I loved everything about this area and adventure. This was my 1st mountain/snow experience since childhood. The nostalgia was unreal. Each slope has its on own unique trail to follow based on your skill level. I would recommend this ski/snowboarding area to anyone around
DaVon Pridgen — Google review
Amazing spring day at this ski area. Close to the coast and plenty of fun terrain for all abilities.
Myles Keating — Google review
Favorite slope in the area. I love night skiing and this is the place to do it. Plus, $25 for skiing 3:30-close Monday nights is hard to beat. Plus plus, you can get a “night skiing season pass” for $250. I call that a deal! ♪( ´θ`)ノEspecially compared to the prices of nearby mountains.
Some other benefits of the mountain include, modern RFID lift ticket scanners, a wonderful cafeteria with delicious food that seems to have been made with love and incredible views from the top. I’m a sucker for seeing water of any sort while skiing.
I’ve brought a few skeptics to Shawnee.. I mean Pleasant, and converted them with ease. Not the biggest slope around, but it seems to be the most loved.
chipdipler — Google review
Great Mountain, great conditions, great food, awesome night skiing, and reasonable prices!! My only issue, despite several calls, messages, and emails is that it took over 30 days to get our refund back after the mountain was shut down one day due to inclement weather. Other than that, it's one of my favorite mountains to ski and would recommend it to anyone!!
Corey Gagnier — Google review
This is a great small ski hill. It's not trying to be big, so it doesn't have that feeling, you can ski the whole place in a day. Cons are small hill, longer lines on weekends, slow lifts that stop a lot but briefly. The Parkes are small but rewarding. Overall great for new skiers and day trips from nearby.
Dawson Cormier — Google review
I’ve been to this place before when it was still Shawnee peak. Back then it was amazing and it still is amazing. The only differences I noticed is the brand changing. And the grassy spots on the trails. Still I had an amazing experience. The only problem was that there was a lingering cigarette smell when I was on the ski lift. The ski quality was amazing and the chairlift speed was decent except for when it slowed down a little bit. Other than that this was an amazing experience for me. Would come here again to ski!

As first-time visitors to Pleasant Mountain Ski Resort, we were thrilled with our experience! From the moment we arrived, the process was seamless and inviting. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the first-time ski lessons. Instructors Taylor, Matt, and Ethan were nothing short of amazing. Their patience and skill in teaching beginners like us were exceptional. They made the learning process enjoyable and less intimidating, ensuring we were comfortable and confident on the slopes.
The equipment rental process was equally impressive. It was smooth and well-organized, allowing us to get on the slopes quickly. The staff at the rental center were knowledgeable and helpful, ensuring we had the right gear for our skill level and the conditions.
Overall, Pleasant Mountain Ski Resort provided a fantastic experience for us as first-timers. The combination of top-notch instruction and efficient services made our ski trip memorable and enjoyable. We highly recommend this resort to anyone, especially beginners looking to learn skiing in a supportive and fun environment.

The staff is polite and friendly, and patient with people who are new to skiing. This is a great location to take a lesson and learn to ski or snowboard. The mountain has an assortment of slopes with a variety of different difficulties ranging from very easy runs for beginners to double black diamond runs that would be challenging for anyone.
The views from the top of the mountain are fantastic and on a clear day you can see Mount Washington. The night skiing is fun and runs later on Monday nights.
The rental skis seem reasonably priced and decently comfortable, but I would recommend bringing your own if possible.

What a beautiful place! The food and staff are awesome. I ordered the "Fruity Salad" at Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine today. My husband and I and our granddaughter and her boyfriend, were treated to an awesome meal there. My salad consisted of beautiful fresh greens, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, maple-glazed pecans, goat cheese and poppyseed dressing. It was served with homemade cornbread and orange slices.
The Stone Mountain Arts Center is worth the drive and worth " Googling". Check it out.

What a great experience! We were lucky enough to enjoy a nice concert and a scrumptious meal in the local community. This venue is unique and worth visiting. They have a great collection of performers and the offer a wonderful menu for dinner should you make a reservation. Community or couple seating available. Show up early for good seating however there really aren’t any bad seats in the house. Service was fast, food delicious and the local as well as travelers conversation were very pleasant. A great experience should you get the opportunity.

Such a heavenly spot for good music, food and fun. Was our first time here and will definitely make it a regular stop on our way up the coast! We saw Dar Williams and not only is she a talented song writer and performer but is also quite a presence on stage; her stories behind the song are so nice to hear and she’s also quite hilarious in her retelling of the stories.

Our fist visit to SMAC after hearing friends rave about it. We went on NYE and had a fabulous time. The entry barn was charming, perfectly lit and decorated. Once in the venue we were seated in the balcony for dinner and the show. The food was fantastic (actually there was too much food) The show by Shemekia Copeland was outstanding. The sound level was ideal and due to the closeness of the tables, met some really nice people. From above the main seating area did look a bit crowded. I would definitely recommend going to a show here.

Cranmore Mountain Resort is a kid-friendly ski resort with 56 trails, snowboarding terrain, and a tubing park. The resort has nine lifts that service 57 trails, six restaurants, an indoor tennis court, family fitness room, supervised playroom and more.
This place is perfect for a visit any season. We went there in the summer and returned in the winter, enjoying both visits a lot. In winter, there's more than just skiing: you can go snow tubing, ride the mountain coaster, try the eagle zip line, or even take a turn on the giant swing. For skiing, they've got three lifts and two magic carpets, making it great for any level of skier.
They offer a variety of lessons, including private ones, group classes, and a kids' ski camp. The camp for kids is especially good. It runs from 10 am to 3 pm and includes lunch and snacks. For our kids, the student-to-instructor ratio was 1:1, which was fantastic for learning and fun. We also tried private lessons, which were excellent. The instructors are friendly and make the experience very enjoyable.
Just remember, you need to book the camp and group classes at least 48 hours in advance. However, if you're interested in private lessons, you can sign up for those just 24 hours ahead.

This place is a Marriott disaster....does not live up to Bonvoy standards....just all the little things....no lids for morning coffee, NO gluten free options in restaurant, no lettuce for the one salad available, were given a different room upon check in than promised and paid for, mattress was way to hard and linens were almost corrosive on the skin...will bypass a return here....the scenery was dynamic, that is a given...avoid if possible

One of the best winter adventure of our family at Cranmore Mountain resort. The place was awesome, snow tubing was so fun which our family really enjoyed. The staffs above the slide are always assisting and making sure everyone is safe before letting another batch slide. But the ground staff at the end, a few were not paying much attention of people crossing as tubes comes flying by towards the safety balloon wall.
The rides, all are super enjoyable. Loved the mountain coaster and their staff, always on point with safety and downhill is filled with fun and good scenery. Soaring eagle zip ride was a surprise in the end, nice view of the whole park and mountain at the top and chilling feel going down. The giant swing, which my daughter loved which she rode for many times. Our family had fun, it was memorable for us as our first timers for winter fun activities, it’s a long drives worth and awesome experience. Hope to be back again next year.

A great place for some outdoor activities to do in North Conway! We did not stay overnight at this resort but there were plenty activities to do for all ages. There is a mountain coaster, a giant swing, a tube slide, a bike path, hiking trails, a zip line and a ski lift that brings you to the top of the mountain. On the top of the mountain there is a snack shack with lots of food options to grab a snack or a meal. Plus the view at the top is priceless seeing the whole view of the mountains. We just went during the Fall with all the leaves changing color and the view was incredible. Based on the past experiences I've had, I promise you this is a great place to get outdoors and enjoy the mountains!

Cranmore used to be one of my favorite places on earth. It felt like home. The new lodges to be built were hyped up for years and one of them was built after I moved away three years ago. I was absolutely thrilled to see the new lodge that promised to be absolutely beautiful. No joke, it is the worst ski lodge I've ever stepped foot in. The old lodge was pretty decent with a beautiful fireplace and overall functional, though tight on space. This new lodge is an uncreative shoebox that is already falling apart (the staircase is a complete disaster) and was covered in trash. It looks like a run-down lodge from the 1970s even though it was just built. I feel downright depressed over it (along with many other locals). This isn't the beautiful homely mountain I grew up on anymore. I can only hope the other lodges to be constructed will be better, but seeing that monstrosity has zapped all my hope. I miss you Cranmore 💕 I really hope whoever created this "lodge" can do a better job with the next one and make it actually functional.

Smallish resort - but excellent facilities, great skiing even with some runs/trails closed,
The restaurant/food area is great, toilets spotless, all in a great place for a fun day skiing,

Normally the conditions are very good for skiing and snowboarding, even snow tubing. But as of now, they absolutely suck. I know it will eventually get better conditions. Lots of parking options. Over all, a great place to ski. (Update) The conditions have well improved and have opened almost all there trails.

Had an amazing experience with an instructor named Ray:
One of my friends and I brought our other friend here for his first time on skis (we did not buy coaching). We spent the first half of the day at the bunny hill teaching him the basics and he seemed to be doing well so we went up the far looker's right chairlift after lunch. The terrain proved to be too challenging for someone in his first day on skis, and he was obviously struggling to ski without posing a danger to himself and other skiers. Ray realized this and intercepted us about 1/3 of the way down the trail. Ray gave our friend a short lesson (~8 minutes), teaching him how to turn properly while supporting him in front to make sure his speed was kept under control. My friend improved 10 times as much as he had the entire earlier half of the day in those 8 minutes. I took note of what Ray was doing and was able to replicate it enough to get us safely the rest of the way down the mountain. We returned to the bunny slope for the remainder of the day where my friend was able to make respectable, mostly controlled turns by the end. Just thought that Ray should be recognized for his efforts to keep the mountain safe and his obvious instructing prowess.

Decently priced. Kids loved the mountain coaster, summer tube slide, bungee trampoline and other stuff. Restaurant was a bit pricey.

This place was wonderful . However they have a ton of workers that do nothing at the bottom of the hills. Standing around and talking to each other . Same for the top. My sister in law was sent down tubing without anyone checking that the lane was clear. She crashed into her 5 year old daughter. We were told this was happening a lot.
Outdoor sports center with guided boat trips & mountain hiking, plus cross-country skiing in winter.
Reserved for 2/12/2022 ... I had an incredible time. This is my 4th time up Mt Washington but my first time during the Winter in the snow. Absolutely epic. Our tour guide, Ron, was super knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed hearing his knowledge and stories. If your just thinking about this .... do it. It's worth it for sure.

We had Matt as our guide for the half day kayak. He was so chill and friendly. The lake was perfect for kayaking and the weather turned out great. As Matt said 10 out of 10 day. Great views, wonderful experience!

Oh my goodness, we took a ride to the top and it was absolutely fabulous! The weather was perfect. Our driver was so wonderful. He gave us all kinds of information about things that I just hadn’t considered before that. It was wonderful to learn. And the views are to die…for watch out for the gusty wind because it can knock you over.😉

I worked with Nate to set up a snowshoe tour for our Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Hampshire volunteer advocates. He was super responsive and communicative throughout the entire process. Our guide Kevin was amazing! He took our group through a manageable trail and taught us all about the mountain range, types of trees & the history of Mt. Washington. I highly recommend working with Nate & Kevin - they are wonderful!!

Everything about this trip was awesome. First, we got a snack and sat by the fireplace at the center. Everyone was really friendly. Then we got in our SnowCoach with our guide Mark (Mark was awesome). Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area, weather, and wildlife. He told so many great stories. Going up was a little scary (I'm afraid of heights) but I'm glad I did it because I never knew or realized just how unique the weather is up on top of Mt. Washington. It felt like we were in another part of the world once we got up there. I actually would have liked to stay longer, but we were up there in the middle of February and, needless to say, it was pretty cold. Mark also got some great shots of us while we were up there. I felt comfortable and safe the whole time. I'm already making plans to do it again next winter.
The other thing that was nice about it is the SnowCoaches were the only vehicles on the road (no two-way traffic).

We've enjoyed cross country skiing here but this was our first time renting fat bikes to enjoy the trails. Fantastic! A great way to enjoy the gorgeous backdrop of the Whites even when mother nature isn't yet cooperating with significant snow cover.

My husband and I took the Mt Washington SnowCoach tour and we're so incredibly happy we did. Although we have visited other parts of Mt Washington this is our first time up the auto road and will definitely be back! Our tour guide, Pete was so knowledgeable with the history and very accommodating that he made the trip that much more enjoyable. The weather was your typical Mt Washington winter weather (snowy & windy) which we expected so the views were a bit blurred but still stunning! We enjoyed every minute of our tour, from the ride up to fresh air with fresh snow and feeling like your in a real live snow globe & the ride down, the entire experience was simply magical!
Even the gift shop at the center was great with such nice gifts for purchase and the entire staff was so friendly and nice.
I highly recommend adding this adventure to your NH trip as you will not be disappointed! We will definitely be back & look forward to it!

Paul and Shannon were the Saturday morning stars at the Outfitters Shop. Their humor and expertise are under appreciated as they helped me get my stored-too-long bindings working on my cross country skiis. My pal and I were among the few who ventured out during the morning showers to ski in the valley. I just couldn't get my boots to lock into the bindings. Paul listened (without laughing) to the machinations I tried. Shannon picked up a ski and actually made one quick tug and got the binding to function perfectly. The pair made my morning so I could set off with confidence and ski to the end of the rainbow. Thank you Paul and Shannon.

I had booked the snow coach as part of my wife's birthday gift. It was our first time taking the snow coach up Mt. Washington. We didn't know what to expect, but we heard great things about it. There was a total of 6 passengers in our van and it was very comfortable. Our drivers name was Claude and he was a wonderful guide well versed on the history of Mt. Washington. Fortunately for us the weather conditions were perfect. There was no wind and the temperatures were relatively mild for Mt. Washington. The view of the surrounding mountain peaks and the valley below were breathtaking. If you are in the area I would strongly recommend taking a ride up on Mt. Washington aboard the snow coach.

The Conway Scenic Railroad offers scenic train rides that take you on a journey through the heart of the White Mountains. The railroad is one of the main reasons that North Conway became a tourist destination, and it features restored locomotives and dining cars from the late 1800s.
Loved taking the train here! It was 2 1/2 hours long to one end and back to the train station. Very festive for the holiday season. You can move in between carts if it’s not too crowded. The station is also located in a cute area of coffee shops and small businesses. It
might be best however to take a train in the warmer months so you can see better views of nature throughout the ride. If possible, buy tickets in advance on the website.

A great family adventure that does not take the entire day away! We took the 2 hour tour. It was very scenic and they did a great job with explaining all of the local details along the way. I hope they get the PA system fixed as that made it difficult to hear all the facts. They should think about limiting the age as there were some very frustrating toddlers on out train. We also had to stop twice as 3 other cars lost power a couple times along the way. It’s worth the cost if you like trains and knowing the local history.

If you want to see the best fall foliage with a scenic train route..this is the best one. The tickets are available online I suggest to buy beforehand. Well preserved historic train path. Loved it!

We did the 55 minute ride. I think its worth getting the dome seats - you get a panoramic view of everything. There is some commentary for the first half . They switch the engine sides after the first leg and then they head back. When they switch engine sides, they say its a tradition to switch seat sides. But if you have people like we did who didn't want to switch, its nice to have the dome seats so you still get to see the views on the other side. You can get out and watch them switch the engine if you want - its great if you have kids who love trains. The 55 minute ride is more than enough for kids. Not so exciting for adults but a pleasant experience.
If you buy tickets in advance online (recommended as they sell out), you still have to go in to the ticket office, show you paid, and get a physical ticket for the train (the conductor comes by to punch the tickets).
There is parking by the station. Arrive with time to spare as you may have to wait for a parking spot . If you have kids, let the explore Zeb's across the street (more on that in a separate post)

Great attraction for kids and adults. Scenic views a plenty, but train cars are also a vintage visual treat. Staff and professional and friendly, adding to the authentic train experience. Train cars are clean and well kept. Food and restrooms are available on the train. Trip to Attitash and back is perfect length for young children. Tunnel and bridge crossings keep it interesting and you’re back at the station before even one “are we there yet?”.

The train ride was okay. Personally it's a one and done experience for me. Didn't really see much during my train ride besides a few houses, trees, and the occasional river. There were a few views of the mountain but just short glimpses as the train passed through. If you want to experience riding on a old fashioned locomotive train then this is definitely your experience. For me, it was just okay. I was better off saving the money for a nice lunch and see take in the scenic views on one of the many free trails nearby.

Peaceful ride with my wife.
We decided to do the 2 hour tour as we did not want to take up the whole day. Overall, we were pleased with it.
We were even able to buy some snacks while on board.
Got some great views and even some history and facts about the places as we passed by them.

Riding this train was a bucket list item for me! I grew up an hour south and we vacationed in the area many times over the years. I never got to ride it as a kid so it was extra special for me 5 decades later! We rode up into Crawford Notch and stopped for a few minutes. The views are breathtaking approaching the Notch including the multiple waterfalls in the East side and below Mount Webster. We rolled into Fabyans (Bretton Woods) for a glimpse of the smallest, most dangerous mountain in the world! The trip back down through the Notch and all the way back to North Conway was just beautiful! The price to ride coach was very well worth it.
The staff on board was friendly and helpful. I even got to chat for a moment with our Engineer, Mark. I've got to mention the snack bar. I can't remember the sweet lady's name but I ordered a hot dog but it wasn't ready. She came to my seat to notify me it was ready!
Everyone should ride this train!

Pros:
- 100 year old train makes you feel nostalgic. Think Harry Potter!!
- It's great if you love trains and would like a quick short train ride with scenic beauty outside
- Comfy seating, clean and well maintained especially considering these are a century old
- easy to book online through their website. NOTE that you'd still need to collect your physical train tickets from the counter albeit it was real prompt
Cons:
-The vanilla 56 min tour doesn't cover the mountains
- The prices are steep
Verdict: definitely recommend, but we will be going for the mountaineer ride next fall!

Travellers, this is a lovely and charming ride out of North Conway. It is a family friendly excursion that everyone should enjoy. We had tickets for the second floor sky dome which made the ride extremely enjoyable because the views from the sky dome are fantastic. The guide was very informative and he was interesting. There are two snack cars on the train for easy convenience. Sit back and enjoy ride. Check it out. We recommend.
TLDR - family fun

Was a great experience!! So glad we did it even though the weather was not perfect. The experience of riding in a 50's train was great while seeing NH White Mountains in the fall. It was past peak but still beautiful! The picnic lunch for gluten free was tasty.

We took the mountaineer train ride and it was approximately 4+ hours ride. Great views and you get get to get off the train for about 45mins once you reach up the mountain to take pictures. Keep in mind that you’re able to drive via car to the destination but the train offers a route that give you views that driving will not have access to. We almost missed the train as there were a farmers market that Saturday and parking was hard to find. Regardless, beautiful train ride!
Advice: bring your own drinks and food or you’ll pay a lot of money to buy on train.

We took the mountaineer train ride on October 6th to enjoy the beautiful foliage. It did not disappoint and was probably my wife’s favorite part of our New England trip! We sat in the dome car during our 4-5 hour ride and had a nice relaxing break time. For our ride, there was some bonus excitement from the helicopter that was shooting an IMAX film of the train!

Everyone was professional and polite. Can understand why no food and beverages were allowed on train....folks can be piggy sometimes. Did not like the " constant" narration on the trip up...to Sawyer River.... entirely too much talking from that guy.

What an amazing time visiting on a serendipitous encounter. Literally just stumbled on this incredible place while driving thru. Wish I had known about it before to experience the scenic trains. As a train fan though plenty of time was spent gawking at all the vintage trains and seeing this small station bustling with activity. Staff were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain some of the history. Definitely need to come back to get the full experience.

Took the snow train dome car ride from North Conway to Attitash. There is no stunning scenery at all. You get a few views of rivers as you cross them. Mostly its woods and houses. If you want to see some scenery, drive up Crawford Notch and you can control who you have to listen to on the way. (Our dome car had a prick telling the whole dome where he went fishing, the life history of his twin sons, and all the vacation trips they have done, etc. He was so busy talking the whole time I don't think he even looked outside.)
Everything is well run, and it 'ran' on time. Impossible to hear the station announcement where we were waiting to board because of a load motor running on the train next to us. Not worth the price, and I am a train fan.
The only simulation of the heyday of snow trains, is the boarding. In the heyday, they saw scenery.
It is not possible to look at all the old equipment that is there, in fact, you can't even get onto the platform anymore, until it is boarding time. This is a $10 ride.

On a beautiful February day, we stopped by and met a couple of the engineers, Greg and Jeff, and were treated to a fabulous tour of the train yard, the turntable and shop, and the Pullman car. We heard some history, shared some stories and laughs, and spent some quality time soaking it all in. We really appreciated the time, and now I can hardly wait to actually take a train ride! Thanks & see you soon =)♡

5 hours I’ll never get back. This experience is definitely not for everyone. We were a group ranging from 13-40 and after the 1st hour were begging for it to be over. I completely understand that you can't please everyone but, I have a feeling that most of these good reviews are from people over the age of 60. The staff was nice and the ride was comfortable, though we did sit first class. Not being able to bring your own food and drinks seems unnecessary, especially when the box lunch is pretty terrible. One thing that needs to be addressed is the fact that they MAKE you switch sides. We did our research and ordered our tickets way in advance. We shouldn’t have to accommodate those who did not and waited till the last minute. The ones side of the train is essentially worthless and thus why we slept the last 2 hours back. We will never being doing to again.
Gess G — Google review
We had a good time at the Conway Scenic railroad. We went on the Conway valley train for 55 minutes in the first class coach, Gertrude Emma. The seats face the windows and we found that unique and useful to see the beautiful views. The train ride lasts for 20 minutes, after which the engine shifts to the other end of the train and then returns back the same way. Since we visited on a weekday, we did not purchase the tickets in advance. The woman at the ticket counter was a bit slow with service and we were worried that we would miss the train, so maybe purchasing the tickets online would be better.
Tip: If you get a chance to pick the seats, do pick the ones on the opposite side of the train station for best views.
Parking is available free for 2 hours right outside the station. Restrooms are available in the train in 2 coaches.
It was a fun ride and a good experience, but I felt that it was pretty expensive for what it offers. So this will be a one time visit for us!

Lovely trip
We were in first class but we’re given two chairs to sit on (which were hard and not comfortable) instead of the more cushioned bench seats; our seats were the only two like this so they must have remove a bench for repair.
We ordered box lunches but they were not on the manifest when we arrived so we paid $54 fur two sandwiches, pretty expensive.
I have scored this 4 stars because the scenery was spectacular but they need to improve on the box lunch situation and they should give a first class comfortable seat which we paid for not two hard chairs. Windows on train were dirty so photos did not turn out very good.
Overall a good trip.

I expected a lot more scenery to be visible on a ride that offers a dome car. While there was a lot of snow to be seen, it was no more visible or stunning than seen from the car on the way to the location.
I found the whole experience to be underwhelming - the journey is short, and doesn't get out of the valley to afford the spectacular views that I anticipated.
The operation and ticketing of the train ride is slick and well run, but certainly not worth the price paid for dome-car viewing when the ride is merely a tame meander through woods, homesteads and across rivers, all accessible and visible from Route 16 by car.
Not recommended.
Update: The vendor's response tried to point out that this is marketed as a vintage train ride, yet the word SCENIC in their brochures and the provision of a dome car on a 'pedestrian' route with no elevation is misleading.
I strongly suggest you RE-NAME your enterprise the Conway HISTORIC railroad and remove the word SCENIC.
Dianas Baths is a series of small waterfalls and pools located in one of the most beautiful and secluded spots in the White Mountains. This tourist attraction offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and is perfect for a day out.
Awesome place, many trails and great views. The trail to the waterfalls is just over a half mile. Definitely worth it! Lots of huge boulders for rock hopping. The trail keeps going after you've reached the last waterfall.

Amazing short trail to beautiful waterfalls at any time of year! 100% recommend to anyone in the area. The winter season can be a bit treacherous here due to ice. If you equip yourself accordingly though, the trail isn't so bad and very much worth it. Very good to take some beautiful pictures of nature in the area. Wasn't overcrowded either, though we did go on Christmas Day. Staple of this region and we will continue to visit every year!

I love this place. It is best in late April early May. The walk in is easy with many tall red Pines. Great place to splash around. Can be crowded and parking can be full (none on the road). Also took the steep walk up to Cathedral Ledge nearby. Beautiful views from the top at fenced in viewing area where one can watch the climbers and is accessible by car.

What an incredible creation from Mother Nature. We got there around 9am and it was already busy. It’s not that warm out today so it wasn’t packed like it usually is. We had a blast on all of the levels of the falls. I was under the impression there were only a couple spots to go in. There’s 8-10 levels and places to go in on all of them. Several spots you can slide down and there’s a 10 foot deep plunge hole you can go in. Touristy but definitely worth the trip.

Make sure you plan to go early, there is usually a line of cars waiting to go in and you MUST WAIT for an open parking spot to go in. There is nowhere nearby that you can park and walk in.
Even with the wait this was my second time here and I would love to come back a third time. There is a lot to explore and the different levels of rocks and pools make it a whole experience at each step. Only about a 15 min hike before you get to the falls.

We honestly did not expect much when we visited Diana's baths recently, but we were in for a surprise!! The parking lot was pretty empty on the Tuesday that we visited. There is a $5 parking/entry fee. The multiple level cascading waterfalls is a good 0.6 miles walk away. The path is easy to walk in, with a very small incline. The cascades were so pretty, we kept climbing the rocks to get higher and we kept finding more levels of the falls. Climbing the rocks is pretty tiring but also very safe. We enjoyed this thrilling adventure of finding more waterfalls! There are restrooms located near the parking but they aren't too clean. The nearby Echo Lake State park is worth a visit too!

Visited in February with my daughter and her friend. We were surprised we were able to park in the lot after having driven past the spot a lot of times and seeing cars parked on the main road. Winter hiked in, trail was packed down snow. Wore microspikes and glad we did once we reached the falls as they were frozen and we were able to walk up them, such fun. Short walk in, maybe 15-20 minutes.

This one holds a special place in our hearts as it was one of the very first dates we went on and ultimately where I proposed to my amazing wife. Beyond that, this is one of our favorite places in the White Mountains. Quick 15 minute hike until you reach the base of three falls and about 3/4 of the way up there's a super cool 10 foot deep hole in the rock that the kids LOVE to dunk in. The best spot for little ones and toddlers in my opinion would be near the top. Very calm & shallow water for them to play in, my 3 year old has an absolute blast there 😀

Beautiful place, absolutely worth going. Please make sure to lock your car doors because someone did steal my purse from my car, cover belongings ect. But the place itself is absolutely gorgeous and I will go again regardless that some people are not very nice. There's a couple spots to go in the water and swim so if ones taken up by alot of people just hike up a little more. There's a couple great sitting spots on the rocks for lunch as well as a couple picnic benches by the falls and by the cars. There is a public restroom we did not use by the parking area. It's a short hike to the falls only a few minutes walk. Beautiful waterfalls and overall a really fun place to go. Go early or be prepared to wait in line for parking just as a heads up!

Great, short hike to Dianas baths. I highly recommend wearing snow spikes at this time of year as the entire trail is extremely icy. I personally didn’t have any so I just hiked it in timberlands but I did slip a lot and had to walk off the path in some places where it was more snowy and less icy. The people who had snow spikes seemed to have no issue walking the hike at all. The waterfall itself was beautiful!

Took us under 10 minutes to walk in, and parking was wonderfully easy, and it's a $5 honorary pay system. (They accept park passes too)
The falls were beautiful, lots of rocks to climb on, and it's deep enough to swim if you want to.
I recommend going before 12, otherwise there's a good flow of people hiking around the falls, but nothing crazy.

💦What a treat it was to discover this short hike to a gorgeous waterfall right outside of North Conway.
🥾The walk was just over a half mile, and some areas of the path will be muddy (but nothing you can’t get around). Once you reach the falls, you can walk the rocks/path to go further upstream. The views are gorgeous!
💰There is a $5 cash only fee to park your car, and you obtain the pass at a table that uses the honor system (but it is a well-spent five bucks!)
🩱You may want to wear your swim suit, but remember that the mountain water is cold!🥶

Very pretty place. Well maintained trail, which is a short walk from parking. The falls and the rocky surroundings are very pretty. $5 parking. And there is enough space for like 20+ cars. They have a machine for parking payment, which accepts cards and not cash. The parking ticket can be used at other places in and around Kancamagus Highway as well. Parking can be purchased online as well, but with sketchy reception around the area, it's best to get the ticket from the machine.

Great spot to visit with family and kids. Easy “hike” which is more like a short natural walk…about 15-20 min if I recall. Lots of waterfalls and places to play in the water (frigid but refreshing). There is limited parking - so suggest getting there early or you’ll have to wait for someone to leave before you can park…it does get quite busy, but otherwise it was great. Parking is $5 per vehicle (cash or credit card).

My favorite short hike. It's crazy busy in the summer. I prefer to go in the winter when it's less busy. You will want to wear micro spikes once there is snow as it tends to get very icy. Snowshoes are another good option. Spring is when the most water flows but it's good all year long.

This is a beautiful spot to visit in the majestic White Mountain National Forest - near North Conway. Once the parking area is full, cars cue up just outside the entrance on the shoulder of the road; our wait was not long on a weekday. Parking is $5.
The lower portion of the 0.6 mile trail is generally flat with a slight incline. The upper portion requires climbing on rocks and tree roots to reach the levels of the waterfalls. Restrooms are basic, so Clorox wipes are essential and toilet paper is recommended in any national park.

Beautiful! Lovely little hike. (Stroller friendly for the first portion). Then we carried my son up the rocks which my older kids loved doing and playing in the smaller pools of water. We went later in the day and it wasn't too crowded. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

The Mount Washington Cog Railway offers visitors a chance to experience a scenic ride to the top of the mountain on historic steam trains or biodiesel locomotives. The attraction operates seasonally and was first conceived in 1858 when Sylvester Marsh requested permission from the state legislature to build a railway up Mt. Washington. One politician opposed the idea at that time.
First time visitors in our group. We did the opening day of the skyline run. The weather didn't exactly cooperate with rain and snow showers but the staff made it fun. We dressed in layers and brought warm gear. The train car has a little heat to take the chill off but it's not always enclosed. The front door was open for the guide to watch the tracks on the way up. She had to duck down at one point due to winds, however we felt safe the whole time. On the way back down you stop for treats and photos on your own. The kids loved roasting marshmallows and the adults enjoyed the atmosphere as well as beverages. Special cookies were also fresh and tasty.
Trains do not have bathrooms, just not that type of train car. They do have plenty of restrooms at the base station and a portable restroom at the mid-mountain stop on the way back down.
Becareful at the mid-mountain stop if it's snowed. Once compact down the snow is slippery and it is an incline.
They will have a photographer take a picture of your part and turn it into a small magnet for $15 at the end of your trip. Nice gift shop and a little room with history of the rail line also included.

Great experience at the Cog Railway! We chose an afternoon reservation so it would be warmer at the summit. Everything ran on schedule. It took an hour to chug up the side and we enjoyed all the stories and statistics about the train. The time at the top was good, a little over an hour.... coming down at 5pm was great in the setting sun for pictures. We reserved the front seats which was exciting going up... the twin reverses the seats so we were in the back coming down. Really had a great afternoon!

We took the coal fired steam powered Cog Railway to the top of Mount Washington. Very nice small museum at the bottom which is great to go through before you climb. Our brakeman, Eric, who was also our guide was extremely informative and open to respionding to questions. He explained the engineering of the Cog as well as provided facts about the engine and the railcar. We had to take on water on the way up as we had used our water supply. He also drew our attention to specific sites. Very interesting! Much diversity in the landscape and foliage as we climbed the mountain. Unfortunately, we met clouds at the top. Visibility was only a few miles. Still a great experience! We saw some young hikers who said it took them over 3 hours of hard hiking to climb to the top and were taking the Cog back down. Suggest bringing warm clothes as it is chilly at the top!

This was such an amazing experience! The weather is a huge factor, but we had perfect weather. Prepare for the summit to be much colder and more windy than the base. If traveling during the summer, bring a windbreaker and an extra layer. Take water. The summit dries you out. The train is a great experience for people of all ages, including children.

Super fun train ride. We went in the winter so it only goes part of the way up, I think a third of the way. Staff was really friendly and the person that was in the car with us told lots of stories. I don't recommend buying the prepared food that you can pay extra for. It's really only a hot dog that you put on a stick at a bonfire. Bring your own food or they have a cafe you can buy food at before you leave. They do have complementary coffee and hot chocolate which is nice. Beautiful views. Fun ride.

From the lady on the ticket desk to the people who worked the rails this was an amazing New Hampshire experience! We have seen some beautiful views on our travels but the view from the peak of Mount Washington is phenomenal!! (Check the weather before your trip.) We had clear blue skies and could see Maine. The other tip would be you can enjoy an ice cream in shorts in +60f at the bottom take suitable clothing for the top otherwise you will be ice at the top. Temperature was +40f but with the wind chill made it a lot colder. Make time for the museum at the base station. Check with staff if the building at the summit is open. Enjoy!

I visited this place in the last week of December and honestly totally blown away of the spectacular view. I was doubtful that is it worth almost 50 bucks for a 15 minutes ride and now I can wholeheartedly guarantee in a perfect snowing December day it's more than worth it. The view from the station will blow your mind away, looks like a winter wonderland while snowing! The coaches are heated and the drivers are incredibly informative and fun. I'm doing the 3 hour full trip next may hopefully. There are heated rooms in the station, restroom, small fire and milk chocolate. The three layer facility is pristine. Loved it.

Honestly, a very cool experience. We were able to go all the way to the top of Mount Washington. It was crazy foggy up there, so you didn't have much visibility, but still really neat. Tom was an excellent guide, it's about a 45 minute trip up. He was a joy to listen to. My only reservation is the price. As of June, 2023, it was $74 per person to go up on the cog railway. My future father-in-law bought the tickets for the whole family. If its a good weather day, I would recommend it.

We did the cog train up to mount Washington. Train conductor/brakeman was very informative while going up the mountain. Very scenic views. Once up top we had an hour to look around before we had to take a specific train back down. While on the observation deck my wife and I and the twin toddlers each in a carrier on our backs felt the force of 50 mph wind which was incredibly strong & cold.

It was a wonderful experience with great views all the way. Book the tickets in advance and select the three seats side, which has great views. There was one stretch that was too steep and a bit scary. Otherwise, the train ride was an enjoyable experience. The train doesn't go more than 5mph, so you don't feel the altitude difference until you see the mile marker. Big kudos to the track/brake men who carefully handle the train while entertaining the passengers as well. It will be good to have a bug spray, as the area around the rocks at the top has bugs and insects. You get to spend only an hour on top, which I think is way too little for the price you pay. But overall, we enjoyed the trip and glad that we made it!

Travellers, what a fun family adventure. This is a great a activity for the entire family. We were lucky and we had beautiful weather. The views are fantastic! The cog train is very charming! The drivers informative and keep lively conversation and and fun fact stories for the entire ride. We went halfway up the mountain because we went I. The winter. The train runs all year and goes to the top the rest of the year. At the top there was coffee, hot chocolate, and marshmallows to toast in the fireplaces that were set up. A wonderful family trip. Check it out. We recommend.
TLDR- great family fun

Cute but overpriced. 15-20 minute ride up (in Winter you only go about a third of the way up). Then about half an hour to sit around some fires and have a hot drink, enjoy the view, then a 15-20 minute ride down. Because of the way the windows are positioned, it's hard to really get a good view on the way up or down. And the guy drones on in a monotone the whole time. Fun to do with friends; alone I wouldn't bother. Oh, and there's a kinda corny kinda fun fake moose on the way up.

What a cool experience. Everyone was knowledgeable, professional and kind.
We booked the trip up the mountain about a week prior, and the weather looked good. A few days prior, with the weather not looking favorable, I called and left them a message at their base station. Faith called me back, and we were able to move our trip to the next day with a small fee. I'm very happy with how accommodating, and helpful she was.
We met Joe outside while waiting for our train to get ready, and we were asking about the engine. We were invited up to the cab, and given a rough rundown on the engine and controls. He knows the trains quite well. Thank you!
The ride up to the top was nice. We sat on the right side, with 2 seats. The seats were a tight fit.
The top was great also. Clear skies made for some amazing views. It was a little early in the year so nothing was open at the top, aside from a train car with self served coffee and hot cocoa. They were out of hot water for the cocoa.
The way down was nice too. The seats flipped so you're facing down the mountain. I was able to see that some second of track need more work than others.
At the bottom we stopped into the gift shop and the small museum they have set up. The museum was nice and informative.
I was not a fan of the gift shop. The items felt cheap, and overly expensive. One item, a moose themed bottle opener, had "Cog Railway" written on it with a sharpie.
Overall a great experience. I recommend this to everyone at least once.

Socked in with rain, fog, and 40 mph wind but cog ride was great and with decent views. Museum very good, people great. I was lucky the last time in perfect weather so this time in ugly, cold, wet stuff was more the real Mt. Oh my-historic!

We've been here a bunch of times, and every time seems better than the prior. The kiddos loved it! For two of them it was their first time on a train so it was extra special. To knit pick, I'll love for all the engines to still be stem powered, but I understand times have changed. That's why this won't affect my rating. I will add some advice for all future cog railway travelers. Try and book the stem engine times. You won't regret the nostalgic feelings of the first trip to the summit of Mt. Washington back in 1866.

Was very hesitant to take this tour as I am afraid of heights. The staff was extremely friendly and engaging...even funny..made me relax and enjoy the ride. I sat in the middle so I was able to ignore the one section that was super high off the ground. Only lasted for a minute or 2 and then we were close to the ground again. They are all very professional and good at what they do which made me feel comfortable too. Not bad at all!
Please make sure to check the weather before you book your trip! Cloud cover can put a damper on visibility. We had some clouds move through but got very lucky!
Great experience, glad I went!

It was an AWESOME experience. It was smoky due to the Canadian fires, but the close views were still absolutely gorgeous! We saw a couple of hikers on the way to the summit. We had Tim giving us all the information on the way up and Fred on the way down from the summit. They were very funny and very informative. I'll be coming again next year!

Buy tickets in advance online to get a good seat on the cog. For the winter trip up, it only goes up half way, right under 4000ft and the ride is about 15mins each way. You do stay at the station for about 25 minutes, before coming back down.

We rode the cog steam train. It was pretty awesome! Great views, awesome tour guide and excellent brake man going down the very steep mountain. Views at the top, above the clouds were beautiful. Thankful for the observatory at the top. Small museum, store, concessions, restroom and post office!

Surreal experience! Highly recommend if you visit the White Mountains area. It is hard to believe that they open all year long, except holidays, even in the snowy conditions! We came here during the first snow of the season around Nov 10th. The drive to go up to the station during was a little challenge with wet snow conditions along the narrow roads leading up to the stations. Large parking lot in the area and a beautiful view! The ticketing station located on the lower level. Very friendly staff manning the ticketing station. During the winter, the train go for only about 15 minutes and they stop at some areas where you can do marshmallow roasting by the fire pit and they provide hot coffee. You have to buy the package if you want to do roasting by the fire pit. It cost an extra $12 that includes hotdogs and buns and marshmallow and some snacks. There is also a large souvenir shop nearby the ticketing section and large dining area where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view by the windows overlooking mountains. Really great experience!

Great train ride to the top of beautiful Mount Washington. Fall colors are beautiful around the station and in the drive to the station. It is best to buy tickets in advance. Regular train costs around 85, which I felt is a bit pricey, but the experience is worth it.
There are multiple ways to get to the top of Mount Washington. You can drive to the top, you can hike and obviously you can take the train. Train is a unique experience, but if you love hiking, this is one of the best places to do it.
The train ride to the top takes around 45 minutes. The guide was very informative. The views at the top are mind-blowing. We get an hour at the top to explore around. Return back ride is what I enjoyed the most with really nice views looking from top moving down.
The train is slow, and kids' excitement goes away after a few minutes of the start of the trip, but they were exited in the return journey for sure.

Loved every bit of it, amazing experience.
Guide was great , good sitting area and amazing views.
We had booked Steam engine but as is broke on that day, we had to get on biodiesel. Management was kind enough to refund the extra paid $10 difference per ticket.
Some info -
-It’s around 3 hours of excursion. About 1 hr to go up on the mountain, 1 hour you can spend at observatory & 1 hour to come down. (Including little bit of waiting and on/off boarding time)
- There are two type of rails - Biodiesel & Steam.
-It takes you to ~6.2k ft up on the mountain & views are spectacular.
- It will be little colder & windy up there, so jacket/beanie advisable.
- There is motor road as well to go up which seems curvy and or you can experience railway.
- I advise to book tickets early online as slots get full during season.

North Pole-themed fun park with rides, water features & shows plus elves, reindeer & Kris Kringle.
Every family should go at least once especially with your children. The park is clean the staff is friendly and there is a lot to see and do even though by today's standards it's a smaller park. The pizza and ice cream we had was great but the real food star was the mini donuts, which were eaten before I even thought to take a picture. On a hot day the newly expanded water park was great and even though it was busy it didn't feel crowded. Overall I highly recommend going. Fun for all ages. And Christmas lovers.

Went today for a birthday party and as cold as it was it was amazing. The kids were able to get a gingerbread man/woman and decorate it, they were able to ride all the rides but no water. My youngest was just barely tall enough to do all the rides which was amazing she was so happy to be able to ride everything. She loved to drive the cars, the log ride, Himalaya, the chimney etc. The food was amazing and my friend was able to rent a cabana for her daughters birthday party and we were able to have alone time. The only downfall of your planning a big party at the cabana is make sure you have a lot of help bringing things in as they won't allow you to park next to the cabana gate to just bring in gift ....plan ahead.(oh ya and the flowers are beautiful)

Just wow! We visited Santa’s Village during one of their June promotions, where all of the food and concessions were included in your ticket entrance price. I don’t think I need to tell any parents how amazing that is when you have three kids under the age of 11 the weather was a little bit chilly, but overall pleasant all of the rides in the amusement park I really geared towards the younger crowd of under 14 years old. They have a great variety ranging from small roller coasters to very slow kids rides that my four year-old was able to handle with no problem or fear at all. All the rides are based on height and both my nine and 10 year old were able to ride on all the rides, I believe the minimum requirement for the largest ride was around 48 inches tall. The facility itself is absolutely gorgeous. They made sure to keep as many natural trees up while they built the park. The buildings are very clean and the entire park is very well kept and tidy. The staff was super friendly and always there to help you with a smile whenever you needed it I highly recommend when you go there to immediately go to the elf workshop to get your kids their badge there are ticket punching elves located throughout the amusement park, and if your child is able to punch all of or most of the holes, they will be able to turn it in for a certificate of completion and a keychain at the end. It also serves as a very good way to get your kids to move along in the park as they search for these elves. We go to New Hampshire every year around the same time and I can’t imagine us not making Santas village a regular place to visit until my kids get to the point where they feel. The rides are a little too young for them.

This November we visited Santa's Village in NH for the second time and it did not disappoint! The park is well-maintained and is staffed by some of the kindest people you will meet! We have two children with special needs and we found the park easy to navigate, full of age-appropriate rides, and it is not over-stimulating which is always a concern of ours. It's hard to not get excited about the holidays when you visit! We had so much fun that we stayed from the time it opened until the time it closed. The only suggestion I would offer is more vegan and vegetarian food options and more coffee stands for tired parents! We will be back!

We brought our five year old here for her birthday and it was perfect. She was able to ride almost everything. The lines weren't overly terrible. The staff was super nice and friendly. We have been home for two weeks and she is still telling strangers all about our trip!
They have a alphabet scavenger hunt that kids can stamp a card and she loved doing that on her own. They have swing play areas through out that helped break up standing in lines. The water park has a lot of options for all ages and was a lot of fun.

I've heard about this place for years but wow, such a great time! Park is immaculate. Staff is fantastic. We went beginning of October and it was perfect, hardly any lines and the foliage was awesome.
My kids are 3 and 6 and both could go on every ride. The rides are fun even for adults and we spent a full day to go on everything.
Thanks to the park for creating a memory I'll keep forever.
FYI. Best rides are the sledding ride and log flume. Being the 1st of October I thought I'd be drenched and freezing on the flume ride but only a little splash. I couldn't have asked for a better day. It was about 60° out.

Santa's Village is one of those bucket-list places you have to experience with your child before TikTok bereave their innocence. The first thing I noticed is that the grounds are kept exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The majority of rides are for the smaller ones, but there are a handful of rides that you or your teenagers will also enjoy. Overall, it is a fun experience that you and yours will never forget.

They nailed it! Family fun is what they promote and it really was enjoyable. FANTASTIC STAFF! I think the pricing from start to finish was reasonable and there was a lot of enjoyable activities. We had a great day at their Christmastime event. The staff was so friendly and everything was open, well besides the water park since it is winter. Snowed all day beautifully and yet the grounds crew kept up good work of keeping everything from being slippery. Proud to recommend going there!

One of our favorite places to take the kids, the park is laid out well with lots interactive Christmas themes. Always a small crowd and low wait times for attractions. The water park is a huge plus if your there in a hot day, it’s been expanded since the last time we were there. The water is not heated, so expect to be refreshed! We’ll be back again.

My family enjoyed this amusement Park more than we’d anticipated we would! We found it very well run: well staffed by friendly, trained individuals, short lines, efficient and reasonably priced dining and gift options.
We visited on my son’s birthday. Read on their site that they give kids a ‘gift’ on their birthdays, so I filled out the form two days in advance of our visit, and my son was given a personalized sticker at a shop when we arrived as well as a gift bag containing a personalized ornament when we visited with Santa. Such a lovely gesture from the park!

An incredibly fun, full day family experience! We arrived right when the park opened and stayed until 15 mins to close. It was pretty busy, almost too busy, but there always seemed to be shade to rest in or a picnic table to eat at. Some rides had super short lines, others were pretty long - so you have to weigh your options. Our toddler was able to ride most rides comfortably with an adult. The Elf University's punch card was a great, interactive seek-and-find activity as we made our way through the park. Everything was clean and well landscaped - I didn't even realize the penguins were trash cans until halfway through the day. Like most other families we used the water park at the end of the day to cool off and relax. I appreciated the free parking, complimentary strollers (for tired toddler legs, and the option to bring in your own food and drinks. We'd come back!

This is a great family place in the White Mountains. There is so much attention to detail here for Christmas. Everywhere you look, there are beautiful lights that shine in the cold night air. The park is so clean from the grounds to the bathrooms. The rides are great for children and many for adults also. Santa, of course, was in high demand in December and is so real looking. There are real raindeer in the Raindeer barn.
There is a new roller coaster opening next year being built. While viewing the large lights show musical tree (This is a must-see at night), we could see the waterpark which was closed. We will plan for a summertime visit as it looks supper fun. Everyone was having a great time, and smiles were everywhere.

Went on a weekday when the forecast was calling for heavy rain all day—it didn’t rain til we were ready to leave around 4pm. I have young children and they were able to go on nearly every ride. Sweet and small with Christmas music playing throughout the park. My preschooler loved the Elf University (visit as soon as you enter) where you receive a punch card and punch out letters of the alphabet at different Elves throughout the park (this seemed to keep older kids engaged as well). We weren’t prepared for the water park area but it was very clean and fun on a hot day. All of the ride attendants were older and seemed like they had worked there for years. Everyone was super friendly and the park had pretty flowers and cute little shops throughout the park. Lots of picnic tables so visitors could bring their own lunches etc. If you have upper elementary children or children who like high thrill rides, this is not the park for you. If you love Christmas then dress up in your holiday duds and enjoy a sweet day of simple fun with your family.

I have loved this place for my entire life. I took my son there when he was younger, and we still visit now. Beautifully maintained throughout the years, with a lovely and welcoming staff each and every time we visit. I have been impressed with the improvements and additions over the years. Every time I visit, I am impressed like it is my fist visit all over again. This place is great for young and old alike. There are rides that have height requirements, so I would encourage looking at the website for more information. All this said, it is ALWAYS worth the time and money to visit. This is my all time favorite place to visit, and it has been for decades, literally.

The family and I had gone up to the white mountains in New Hampshire for vacation, and during our time, we paid a stop to Santa's Village. This place holds a special spot in the childhood of my girlfriend and I, and so we wanted to have the kids experience it as well. Getting in was easy. Ticket prices were more than affordable, and there was more than enough parking. There were plenty of staff on hand to accommodate the crowd, which wasn't bad at all. I recommend getting there in the morning as well as purchasing tickets in advance. The rides and food options were great, and the park was clean and well kept. There were a few rides that had wait times that looked to be caused by the way they were managed as opposed to having large crowds, but all in all, we had a great time and will definitely go back.

Been here a few times. Kids are approaching 3 and 4th grade so we are aging out. Park is very clean and well run. Pizza is excellent. Big water slides were closed at the water park due to an unfortunate structure related issue, which was a disappointment but I get it. Flume also closed while we were in line due to a switch issue which also was bad. But overall it’s a good time.
One thing I noticed was that the park cleared out as the afternoon went on (we rolled in with everyone else at 9. ) So we did a lot more rides on the PM side and hit the water park on the earlier side.
This is the last year of one of their roller coasters. Also pizza is great. Great all around. The NH State Police Trooper doing the detail outside is awesome and was very friendly to the kids crossing.

Great family park, a very happy place! They did many improvements and additions over the years. Added the water park and improved the Great Humbug Adventure. (I got 238,000 points and was so proud of myself, until I found out the record is over 700,000 🤯😂).
The boat ride and a couple small rollercoasters are great and just a right level for me and those who are afraid of big falls and crazy rollercoasters, but still want to experience it.
The ticket price is very reasonable, also keep in mind that they can be purchased only online.
You don't need to pay anything extra for any ride or the water park once you are admitted to the park.
The food is very good! I highly recommend to try pizza, it is always great there!
All photos from July 2023. Around 3 pm many people with little kids left and we had the park to ourselves 😅
We just love coming back, even the kids are all grown up now. Actually, the kids ask to go back. 🤭
We all (the grown up kids and adults) participated in the Elf University, which gives you a task to find all 26 letters of the alphabet and to punch holes through your personal card. If you complete it, you get your personal Diploma and a prize (a cute key chain). We do it each time, so much fun.
Highly recommend for all! 🤩👍

Why not tap into the actors talent and put on a musical which is always enjoyable ! Money and time wasted!!
NH-112, also known as the Kancamagus Highway, is a picturesque route that traverses through White Mountain National Forest and attracts many tourists who enjoy viewing fall foliage. Though it may not be the quickest way to the White Mountains compared to Interstate 93, this scenic highway offers a more appealing experience. With its winding roads and breathtaking views of nature, NH-112 is a popular destination for leaf peepers looking for an enjoyable drive through beautiful scenery.

Nicely maintained mountain with really nice trails. My biggest complaint is that the lifts stop CONSTANTLY. I don't think I've gone up a lift without it stopping all season. They really need to encourage inexperienced skiers to stay on the beginner lifts because it's makes it more stressful for everyone else when people (especially young kids) are constantly falling when getting on and off the lifts.

The elevator was not working. Our room window would not open. The TV volume did not work. They provided soap that was 1"x2''x.25". The front desk was terse and sometimes not available. A house keeper name Trinity was the only helpful person. Breakfast was good. The gym pool was great.

1/25/24 first time here. What a nice mountain! I rode all over and it was lots of fun. Good grooming, nice parks, trees are fun (got in one section even thou it was low snow) .
Friendly people here too.
Lots to explore. I look forward to returning.

Pretty cool resort! Love the retro surface lifts. I wish they had some longer cruisers that were groomed up the day I was there. The bar is awesome aesthetically. The service at the bar was mediocre. Couple of other areas of the lodge could definitely use some updating. The interior stairs are definitely in rough shape. Ski shop is impressive!

Great skiing and breathtaking views. Challenging mix of trails. The rental shop, cafeteria, and ticket counter were all staffed by friendly, welcoming people. The T-bar at the summit is very popular with my kids as well as the nearby summit lodge. The new 6-seater bubble lift is awesome.

Not happy about the crowds on weekends. They do not cap # of tickets sold. We were on indie pass. Blue and advance terrain got skied out quickly due to crowds. Could not try the new 6 person chair because of the 45 min wait. Will return on a weekday.

The snow was aamazing. The chairlift was super fancy and was also reliable. The chairlift holders did their job perfectly by holding the chair back just as t enough. I eould recommend if you are in the area.

Very nice place to ride. Lots of trail options, nice lift, and expected amenities like on site restaurant, shop, etc.
My only complaint is there is no lift to the summit, just a t-bar. I'm a snowboarder and I'm not ending up on tiktoc when I catch an edge 🤣

Love it here! There’s something at WV for everyone. I’m visiting from Michigan and will definitely be coming back. Friendly staff, clean facilities, lots of parking available. We loved the lodge at the top of the hill as we brought up lunch up and enjoyed a beer with a view. Cant recommend WV enough!

I have just started back up and been mostly going with my two young kids (2.5 & 4). I love it.
I think it is a great spot for the whole family, but specifically for small children I love that the beginners area is off to the side, not getting crazy crowds but still close to the lodge— meaning you can whisk the kids in quickly for hot coco-potty breaks.
There is a special drop off spot near the kid academy, which allows you to put your equipment right near the magic carpet. This makes it easier to drop off stuff then get kids ready in the lodge and just walk without equipment over to the carpet.

Great day of skiing on March 25th! Waterville Valley is very-well maintained and an awesome place to ski!
Matthew Taylor — Google review
I consider this mountain to be a great value. It's still got the local mountain feel but with modern high speed chairs. The snow making is excellent and they do a nice job grooming where grooming is needed and leaving things as is for those of us that like that sort of thing.
Today I was getting in one of those precious, late season days of skiing and just before I arrived my tire pressure warning light went off. Argh!!! Skiing needed to happen so after confirming which tire was the problem I headed up to the lodge with all of our gear. After acquiring tickets I asked someone at customer service about possibly topping off my tire at the end of the day if they had a portable compressor to do so. At the same time a guest offered to help me if the folks at Waterville couldn't and even provided me with her cell phone number. Ultimately, the Waterville maintenance crew was able to help me out but knowing that between the Waterville staff and the Waterville guests, that everything was going to be fine allowed for an awesome day of skiing where I wasn't worrying about anything. My gratitude goes out to the Waterville staff and to Hillary who offered to help out a complete stranger in need. Lots of good people at Waterville.

Great to do as part of the Welch Dickey loop which is around 8 miles. One of my favorite hikes in the white mountains. It has some very steep slopes that might be difficult to traverse in wet or icy weather and can be very hot with little shade in the summer. The views are spectacular.

A very nice hike, but it can get very crowded if the weather is nice. Dogs are welcome if they are on a leash.

Beautiful and easy hike! Amazing views for how accessible it is.
Natural gorge hiking area with a visitor center, covered bridge & mountain & waterfall views.
The flume gorge is an easier hike with amazing views. The wolf’s den requires getting a little dirty, but it’s a fun little detour. The bugs weren’t bad and the trail was super easy to follow. Seating and rain shelters accessible throughout the trail, which makes it more inclusive to age/ability compare to other hikes. Lots of postings that identify nature and history as you move through the trail. I’ll definitely be back!

A natural scenic stroll through the woods in the peak of fall colors is nothing more than amazing. You learn to appreciate nature more and enjoy it with enjoy it with breath of fresh air. It was a short hike, an approximate 2 mile loop. There are multiple things to view in the short hike that are simply amazing....my favorite is a retreat growing on a glacial rock. My only reason for raking off a star and not giving it a 5 star is the $18 I had to pay with many other hikes that are right around a reasonable distance that are as beautiful and totally free.
Nischinth Sadhak — Google review
One of the best park walks in the US. Trails are well maintained and obvious. Benches to sit on and rain shelters along the way. The gorge is the highlight of the hike where you get to walk on a pathway literally 5 ft along the falls. Plenty of photo opportunities. Only negatives are that it can get busy on weekends and there is a cost ~$20.
Benjamin Sautter — Google review
Such a beautiful place. Lots of uphill walking and downhill. The downhill can do a havoc on your ankles. Unpaved trails. I'm a little bit afraid of heights but this wasn't so bad. Be careful with young children since there are parts of the walk that are steep areas. Being from Florida I could feel the elevation level in my breathing. Save $3.00 on tickets by prepurchasing online and reserve a time slot. Tickets are normally $21 a person. There is no cell service in the area. There was a rain storm the day before so the gorge had rushing water and it was beautiful. We went end of July so it's a bit hit outside so we went on their first time slot which is 9 a.m. to beat the heat.

What an impressive location. We were taken away by the waterfalls, the rock formations and the quality of the trail. You have to pay to enter but it is definitely worth it. The trail is a loop and lasts around an hour and half. The visitor centre has restrooms, a cafeteria and a gift shop.
nuric — Google review
Been here many times. Everyone should see it. It is seasonal. The visitor's center was closed but you still could do limited hiking for free. The hike is about an hour I think. It is a beatiful, narrow gorge with some great waterfalls. The walkways and steps are relatively new and as easy as possible. It has it's own micro-climate; very cool on a warm day.
Randy Klonowski — Google review
You need to have been here yesterday! This trial has a lot of stairs, But for those with troubled knees they have benches/seats/overlooks throughout so if you need a rest you can. It took about 3hours for my family to walk. The trail is well used so it isn’t a dense wilderness track, no hiking shoes required. I walked it comfortably in my Vans. Unfortunately I don’t believe they have wheelchair access as the gorge is steep naturally.
No dogs allowed on the trail.
I hope you all come and love this beautiful place!!!
*****they have the cleanest bathrooms I’ve seen on a trail.

Amazing! All that needs to be said. Family had a great time hiking the beautiful scenery. Lots of drastic elevation changes. Bring water. One restroom along the first quarter of the trail. Nothing after. Highly recommend!

This is a beauty of a hike!! Nothing crazy but just nature at its best!! Amazing views of the waterfalls!! Also pregnant women safe!! Highly recommend this if you haven’t already!! The best part that is not nature related is the relatively well priced souvenirs at the gift shop .. the staff who work there are sooo friendly and the food is great too!! We had a slice of pizza and a burger and it was delicious!! Well made!!

The flume was about the same as I remembered from thirty five years ago which is what we like- we don’t want to see nature changed by man! The day we went it was pouring which was even nicer, much less human traffic through a natural wonder ❤️we understand and respect the need to maintain trails, but it would be really nice if there was a naturalist or teacher discount recognized; $99 for four children and an adult, although this natural gem is absolutely wonderful, is a bit steep on a family budget for a relatively short hike- glad we went, really enjoyed the short little jaunt of a couple hours with less human traffic 😉

Definitely a must visit place if you are in this area. Flume gorge is a nice trail boasting some beautiful scenery and waterfalls. The trail is well maintained, but definitely not a leisure stroll. It can be regarded as an easy to moderate hike, but definitely doable. There are enough rest areas built. In all you may need around 1-1.5 hours to complete the trail. Waterfalls and lush greenery are just amazing. Due to rush, there are chances that tickets may not be available, so it's better to be early or reserve in advance

A little strenuous of a walk but not terrible. Some of the path is pretty steep. But very much a worthwhile walk. Beautiful nature scenery.

This is a "must see" portion of the White Mountains. The 2 mile loop is hilly but doable. You may take as long as you would like to walk it. We were constantly stopping to take in the views as we found new things everywhere we looked. This is a state park which charges for you to walk the path to the Gorge and it is worth it. I recommend buying tickets online in advance to save some money.
Andrew Kassouf — Google review
A great hike of about 2 miles more or less. The trail is wide and nicely groomed. Waterfalls, pools and covered bridges along the way. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. We took our time and stopped frequently to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Coral Ouellette — Google review
A great workout indeed. It ranges from stairs, to going up and down steep hills. I don't recommend bringing your children if they need a carrier or a stroller with all the stairs. A lot of the trails were closed off today, so maybe those ones are more accessible. I enjoyed the trail we were on and the sound of the river plus the birds chirping! It was wonderful! Cutest little gift shop, such friendly park rangers, they do have a cafe in the visitor center as well.
Liz Avelar — Google review
This place of mother nature is beautiful. I walked counterclockwise around the trail and was able to see Wolfes Den, and pool and waterfalls before the rest of the crowd. The only challenge was the platforms towards the beginning of the trail where it was narrow and hard to have two way traffic. The sound of water, the walkway, the way the water had cut through the rocks to create the current formations are amazing. I would recommend going there early to beat the crowd.
Sovanna Pouv — Google review
Really a geriatric and family friendly hiking area to enjoy the gorge. They give you a leaflet of instruction upon entering. Onsite ticket purchase has an additional $3 fee and tickets are limited i guess to 300 per day. Parking space is way too ample. If you enjoy the view and have picture and video taken you then it would take you around 2 hrs to finish but if not then about an hour and 15 for moderate pace.

This was such an amazing place. We had so much fun. It was a little hard for my husband in some areas since he wears a leg brace. He dad his walking pole, so that helped. The staff at the information counter was the best. They were so funny and great to talk to. The gift shop was full of great souvenirs and snacks. The bathrooms were clean. It took us about 2 hours to do the 2 miles since I kept stopping to take pictures. Don't miss this if you are in the area and if you aren't, try to add this to your trip.
Donna Smith — Google review
There is so much to see here. Trail is 2 miles long and took us about an hour and a half to walk. Path is a nice gravel walkway and boardwalk. Restrooms are at the entrance and about a quarter of the way in. In the main building they have a gift shop, cafe (pizza and ice cream were good) and info about the history of the gorge.
*If you are going in October, buy tickets online before you arrive.

Excellent moderate 2 mile walk on gravel, well maintained trails. Some steep uphills and downhills. Boardwalk contains a good number of stairs. There are many benches along the route that are strategically placed. Beautiful views especially in Autumn when the leaves are changing. Buy tickets online before coming. Tickets are more expensive at the ticket booth and there is very spotty cell service in the parking lot.

Super easy to navigate and there is an obvious trail for the entire loop. Gorgeous views but VERY touristy! We went as soon as they opened on a weekday and it was packed. A good outdoor walk with cool history but I don’t know that I’d say it’s worth the $20 or $30 per person for a state park.

Even though I fell and injured both my hand and knees, I still feel an immense sense of happiness because this is a path worth trail. It takes around 1.5hours for round trip. Exploring the Flume made me appreciate the beauty of nature even more. I couldn't help but take numerous photos to capture the memories. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a photographer, or simply someone seeking a peaceful escape, The Flume is a must-visit destination. It's a place where you can reconnect with the wonders of the natural world and leave with a deep sense of appreciation for our planet.

Gorgeous and meticulously cared for park. The hike was relatively easy and fun. Our little one especially enjoyed the Wolf's Den where he crawled through the "cave" of boulders. We were here in late September which was not terribly busy.

Exceeded expectations. This is a very beautiful walk and not very strenuous. There is a well-maintained boardwalk system for most of the trail. While I wouldn't consider it fully accessible, it should be doable for most fitness levels. We took less than a couple of hours at a relaxed pace to do the full loop, stopping for many photos along the way. Two covered bridges along the trail make for great photo ops.
Swimming, skiing, hiking, canoeing & history inside a mountain pass with a scenic aerial tramway.
What a beautiful park! Even in the winter the terrain and water features of this par. The trails are very well maintained with rain shelters and benches for resting and enjoying the views.

This park is a beauty. There are so many things to do here and one might get too overwhelmed. I suggest the following places:
1. Visit Mt. Washington - There are 3 ways to reach the top: Guided Tours, Cog railway, or your own car. Guided tours are 2 hours from base to base so, it might feel a bit rushed. Visiting with your own car is adventurous - roads get narrower sometimes, and there is no railing, it is a bit challenging but if you're up for it, then definitely do try. It's worth the experience. Cog railway is plain beautiful, you get to enjoy the scenic views without any effort - If driving up with your car is overwhelming, this is definitely the best option.
2. Take a train - Conway Scenic. They do these guided tours and it's just fun in the train. They have trains starting almost every hour until 1 I guess. I'm not sure, but you can check their website.
3. Take the Cannon Mountain tramway at Franconia Notch State Park - it's just fun and has breathtaking views. After taking the tramway, you'll have to hike a little - it's a very small hike probably less than 5 minutes. then, you'll reach a building that's 3 stories high. Take the stairs and you'll reach the top. - That's where it has all those views, They say that on a clear day you can even see Canada.
From there, definitely do visit Flume Gorge. Funny story, when we were thinking of visiting places for fall colors, we saw a beautiful scenic water falls sliding across our TV in Fire TV wallpapers, the title said "Avalanche Waterfalls" but when we visited this state park, we couldn't find it. Nobody knew those waterfalls, google maps took us to Flume Gorge and from the pictures hanging outside the Flume Gorge, we realized it's the same. Unfortunately we visited after the closing hour and couldn't see those waterfalls. But I heard it's definitely worth visiting.
All in all, NH is a beauty. Always call before visiting these places as they might close during extreme weathers.

One of the most beautiful Parks in New England, and the country. Just a drive through on the parkway is amazing. Get out! There is hiking, from easy all the way up to strenuous. Skiing is right here. Take a gondola for a birds eye view (and less work). Don't pass up The Flume! A great and moderately easy 1 to 1/2 hour hike through a moist and rocky cleft into the mountains. (Seasonal) Any time of the year is the best time to visit.

Absolutely lovely view. Worth the steep 25 min hike at Artist’s bluff view point . Don’t need any hiking gear but wasn’t the easiest hike either. A local told us it’s the best view in New Hampshire and we thought so too. It’s mindblowing. Echo Lake Beach is a must if you want to swim. It has an amazing view. Also has a bunch of other trails like Flume Gorge and Lafayette. Flume gorge was really good although not sure it was worth 18$. You could go in the evening hours for free.

As over 6,000 Google reviews attest, this park provides a most enjoyable experience. A ride on the tram and an easy stroll on the Rim Trail trail to the observation tower at the summit, are near mandatory White Mountain must dos, sure to please.

We saw The Old Man of the Mountain years ago. It was sad to hear that the face had crumbled, but we went back to look. There are metal sculptures that simulate what it looked like if you stand in the right place. It is a lovely park.

This is a beautiful and unconventional state park. For one, a highway runs through the park and is the one road that gets you from place to place. We stayed at the campground and didn't find the highway noise bothersome in terms of sleep, but it does drown out nature sounds. Never heard a bird or bug the whole time.
The Basin Cascade trail was fun and gorgeous. We skipped the Flume Gorge because I'm morally opposed to paying $18/person to go on a 2 mile hike and stand in single file line the whole time. Besides, we had visited Watkins Glen State Park in New York the prior week (the hike in NY is free) and the Flume hike looked very similar.
We also did some biking on the Franconia Notch bike path. My recommendation is to bike uphill (northbound) first, so you can cruise downhill back to your car. Be sure to stop at the Old Man Historic Site which was more interesting than we expected. It is at Profile Lake, which is beautiful with crystal clear water (we saw several crawdads/crayfish in the water).

Franconia Notch State Park is absolutely stunning. Ive been there twice. The first time was this past June where we did some hiking up Artist Bluff and most recently Oct 13,14, and 15 2023. We waited until autumn to go see the Flume Gorge and I am so happy we did. We also saw the Basin and Old Man in the Mountain. The Flume Gorge was spectacular( No dogs allowed at this part) . While I am not one for paying to see nature I am really happy I did. This beautiful part of the park was my favorite part of Franconia Notch State Park and Im happy my money went towards it. Some may feel the cost is a bit steep but I am glads to have spent my money on such a beautiful attraction.
The Basin is a short hike with some water falls and chutes in a beautiful natural wooded area. You are allowed to walk out on the rocks but be careful if the rocks are wet. The Basin is Dog friendly.
The Old man in the mountain memorial was a cool added bonus to,. I never saw the actual old man but to see its memorial was fun in own way.

Gorgeous stop on my "see America tour." The Cannon Mountain Tram was a wonderful ride up the mountain and the view from the top, amazing! The hikes around the rim and to the tower made the price worthwhile. If I had more time in the area, there is much to do. Next time!

A popular place that dominates northern New Hampshire. Don’t go hiking in the white mountains without proper gear. Every year unprepared hikers die from exposure. Weather changes quickly and proper gear essential.

I have fond memories of this place going all the way back to my very young childhood. I love it very much here. The whole park has early 1960s "highway culture" type vibes that I've always found very pleasant. It makes me think of a time I never got to experience in person, but a feeling that lingers in state parks and ever decreasing roadside stopovers around the country. It's very clean and well maintained. Very beautiful place. The bathrooms at the stops tend to close in the early evening, so don't rely on their definite availability.

This was our first visit to Littleton NH. We wanted to see the downtown area and do the river walk as we are active walkers and like to search out new venues. It was a mid-May 85 degree day and was quite pleasant day for a new experience. After eating at Gold Pizza and visiting Chutter's candy we enjoyed our walk along the river. The covered bridge was interesting ang long. The walk was enjoyable with the river running swiftly. Several benches allowed us to enjoy the river even more.

Located over the Ammonusuc and seconds from Main Street by way of public stairs. A paved pathway down a semi steep incline leads to the beautiful, covered footbridge. The bridge overlooks the scenic and popular-to-locals "flat rock" area of the river. Swimming or wading is allowed at your own risk. Always anticipated by the community, both young and old alone surely will marvel at the bright orange pumpkins arranged a top the flat-rocks to be admired. As dusk sets in, a myriad of spooky, silly, simple and intricate Jack-o'-lanterns which are donated, designed and displayed by local participants come alive with fiery toothy and toothless grins and scary faces which appear to be "floating" and marching slow and menacingly toward their "death'. Exiting the bridge to the right reveals a neatly planned, and thought out responsibility aside a traditional
mowed field great for picnics and frisbee tossing. A gravel and earthen path tip toes it's way across our the ground. Night stands await your current reading project

I think what’s most disappointing is that Burke Mountain touts their gratefulness for our Military and their families with a Military skis free! ….. except holidays which guess what? That’s when our active military comes home to do fun things with their families. So thanks for nothing but an insulting 10% off which is roughly $6. My Marine deserves a better perk. Secondly the lack of trails open makes this resort a low 2.

I’ve been skiing at Burke for three years now. As someone who isn’t a pro at skiing, I love this mountain. There are a couple of negatives, but first what I love.
The mountain is easy to navigate, with just two lifts, a magic carpet, a T-Bar, and J-Bar. Trails are clearly marked, and mapped out.
All that staff I have dealt with are very friendly, and the ski coaches are great. Anyone in the Ski-Patrol/ medic group there are amazing, and very understanding.
I’ve never had a problem with the lifts being shut down, as some other comments mentioned.
A couple of negatives.
The food, like any other ski mountain, will basically break the bank if you know what I mean. It’s to be expected, but the food is NOT worth the price.
The bathrooms at the mid-Burke lodge are deplorable. Guessing not too many people go there because the hotel is right there, but I was shocked to see how disgusting they were.
Overall, it’s a great place for families and avid skiers, but also for beginners.

Burke Mountain is a great mountain in Northern Vermont. We came up go visit our girl at college and ski with family. We rented a great place and skied for 2 days. They have all levels of ski from beginners with covered magic carpet, J bar, and multiple large fast chair lifts. Not super crowded and enjoyed our visit!! They also have mountain bike trails , paragliding and other spring/summer activities also.

Burke is our happiest place ❤️ amazing skiing for this who like a challenge hut it also offers beginner terrain on the lower half. Small enough to let the kiddos roam free but as large as you want to make it with never ending tree trails, fun rollercoaster kid runs and friends all over the place. Like any small mountain we have some quirks but the community, fun, safety and killer skiing makes it the best around! (Oh and you will have more runs by 10am than you have all day at "the bigger mountains"

I've skied Burke 5 times this year. Each time the grooming is nonexistent. Last time, the conditions were so bad that you couldn't do Willoughby at all, and Dippers was almost as bad. Well when you have as few trails as Burke, they should be better kept up with.

Came here for the first time on their closing day/eclipse party and have to say, I’m a big fan of this mountain. It’s east coast skiing for sure but the mountain carries this relaxed and friendly atmosphere to it that you just don’t see that often anymore. Skiing closing day was slushy and warm but that’s to be expected; and I was still happy to hop around and explore. I don’t think any east coast mountain will ever compare to the west but Burke is high on the charts for me for one of my favorite east coast ski areas.

I love it. I highly recommend going here if you are a beginner. They have smaller trails that are very easy and they also have harder ones. The only reason it is not 5 stares is the fact that cookies cost 3.00$

Great skiing, love this mountain. Lower ski are is the best beginner area of any mountain I’ve skied, and the upper area has plenty of challenging trails for intermediate/experts. Upper lodge should be demolished

My lesson with Adrianne was awesome!! I am a definite beginner and she broke everything down for me so I really understood. I’m already looking at weekends I can go again this season to reinforce what she taught me. Staff everywhere was helpful and kind.
Seasonal ravine park for hiking, caving & gemstone mining amid boardwalks, mountain & river scenery.
This was such a cool place to visit! It has over 1,000 stairs meandering through the canopy forest and spectacular views of the gorge and caves. The caves were fun to check out, especially the one with the waterfall in it! Some caves were so small & could only fit a small child through. In 2014 they added more boardwalk area to lengthen your hike. At the end they have a pterodactyl sized bird nest that you can make hilarious videos and photos in! We had a blast visiting!

We had some doubtful impressions after this trip. The entrance tickets are $26 per person at the site, and $22 online. I had to buy tickets online for our big family of 5. + The attraction is a hike, full of stairs which go up and down permanently. Just want to mention-1100 steps, be aware! After 3 days, my legs are back to normal :). The hike was not difficult, but exhausting, as it was a very hot day, and we were all wet sweating. I have seen many old people there. So if they can do, you can do it too. The views are nice, but not so breathtaking like at Flume Gorge. I would say, that this attraction is a twin brother of Flume Gorge, but Flume is much better, not so expensive like Lost River, and has more interesting things to see and explore. There are restrooms at visitor center and a giftshop. Our thought and impression was, that we had a walk in the forest for more than $100, they could have given us at least one magnet as a gift, not to fill so ripped off:).

We’ll maintained grounds and wooden walkway. The gorges are beautiful as are the surrounding nature and caves. Some of the caves are more open than others not requiring much effort to explore while for others you need to get on your belly and crawl so be sure to dress appropriately (pants and shoes recommended). However, you need not worry if exploring the caves is not for you, the trail allows you to either pass through or around each of the caves.

We got here when they opened in the morning. It was cold, but once you got down in the Gorge, it was warmer. What a great place to visit. You are climbing up and down around 1,000 steps. This is definitely not for anyone who has walking issues. My husband wears a leg brace and was able to use the handrails. He did fine, but if you need a wheelchair, then you probably couldn't do this. They have a nice gift shop, a place to get some beverages, and a great staff. We loved the caves, but I only went in a few. The suspension bridge was fun, and the bird nest was cool for pictures. The tree house was nice to visit.

What a beautiful place! I would definitely recommend visiting. Just a note- their caves tend to be quite tight (some not really fit for adult sizes). And be prepared to either get down on your knees or stomach in them where it is wet. But the waterfalls are so pretty and the path is all on a boardwalk.
Michelle Hedin — Google review
Simply one of the most stunning places we've been here in NH. Amazed at the insane amount of boardwalk that takes you through lush forest and deep into the gorge. Most of the caves are adult accessible, you'd better be prepared to crawl and climb a bit. Our teenagers went through every single cave and passage, but you can bypass any of them if you want/need. Highly recommend for all ages, take your time and hit all the boardwalk areas to find all the lookout spots, Smitty's Den, and the big bird nest. Staff was super friendly, facilities were super clean, and a nice gift shop too.

When I got here and saw that the parking lot was empty, I knew it was going to be the start to a good day. Usually, this place is pretty busy, so to have the whole place to myself is pretty rare. With nothing but the sounds of running water and birds chirping, I took a walk along the boardwalk trail through the gorge. There are a few waterfalls along the way and several caves that have tight paths that lead you through them. Unfortunately, due to all the melting runoff water from the surrounding mountains, a few of the paths were closed because of flooding. It was nice to be able to take my time walking around and take some pictures of this place without having random people in the pictures.

Such a fun place to visit! I went on a weekend, but it wasn’t too crowded. The caves were super fun to squeeze through but some of them were definitely a bit tight if you’re claustrophobic. Even if you don’t go in the caves, it’s a great trail with some beautiful viewpoints. I highly recommend checking out this place!

This place is cool. The waterfalls, gorge, caves and views. Beautiful wooden walkways leading up and down the gorge. Chances to explore numerous caves along the path. Scenic overlook locations. A chance for kids to pan for gems is great. Bring shoes with grip if your going in the caves. Staff are great and friendly. The whole family loved it. Highly recommend. Well worth the price.

Wonderful to walk through all the wooden walkways, and squeeze through little caves in the boulders. We all had a blast! Pre-ordered timed tickets, not crowded, go at your own pace. My son loved lemon squeezer/dungeon went through 3 times in a row. Got the t-shirt at the gift shop. Very well cared for, beautiful grounds. Fun place! We have already recommended to family&friends.

We had so much fun! Wasn't even planning on going here, we were headed home from a vacation and saw this place and decided to stop. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Great staff, great views, great time.

This was a very fun park. Yes there were a lot of stairs going down but I really don't remember the ones going up. The caves were fun and enjoyable for the kids. Most were too narrow and tight for older adults. But I had a great time watching the fun on the kids faces as the explored. It's definitely a park I would recommend. The views were stunning.

Was a wet day and we were considering rescheduling, so glad we didn't!
Bought a couple of cheap poncho's from the gift store and literally had the hike to ourselves 😁
Incredible surroundings and trail is a bit of a workout but very easy to traverse due to the walkways and stairs.
Will just add some photos, easier than text

Me and my group of 6 went this past weekend and had a great time! I've been to the Flume Gorge in New Hampshire as well and this was way better! We went through a few caves which were really cool! Some we didn't do because it was rainy when we went and we were not dressed appropriately to crawl on the ground. Overall it was so beautiful and definitely worth $24, you felt like you were some where tropical!
ELOCIN RUZAM — Google review
WOW! An absolute treasure in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Breath taking views and caves to climb and crawl through. While adventurous it is also accessible. You can easily bypass any cave you don't feel comfortable taking on. We also really appreciated that many of the caves had a wooden boardwalk running through them. It made it so much more comfortable when it came time to crawl on our hands, knees, or even belly. It was such a wonderful time, not to be missed!!!
Nick Scott — Google review
Warning - not for those who are uncomfortable climbing or descending over 1,000 wooden stairs. To enter/exit most of the caves you will have to crouch, crawl on your hands and knees.

It’s a pretty good hike throughout! The flume gorge is impressive to walk through. The park rangers at the entrance were so fun to talk to, knowledgeable and kind. Pretty nice views of Franconia Range within the hike as well.
The line moved quick, you can walk it as fast or slow as you’d like.

Dog Mountain, Home of Stephen Huneck Gallery is a captivating spot located 2 miles east of St Johnsbury, Vermont. It celebrates the legacy of artist Stephen Huneck with an entire gallery devoted to his whimsical dog-themed artwork and an adjacent chapel designed by Huneck to honor the bond between humans and animals. The property spans 150 acres and is a leash-free zone where dogs can roam freely on trails, fields, and pools.
We had found this on America's Roadside Attractions and it was on our way so we figured we would stop in. The best decision I've made in a long time. It was beautiful, touching and made me wish I had brought pictures of all my deceased doggies. It's a profound place of worship for the dogs in our life that have given us unconditional love. I couldn't help but cry with sadness at the loss and joy that so many people had loved their pups. The pictures show the incredible amount of pictures as they cover the walls and begin to climb up towards the domed ceiling. It's a great way to honor and grieve your loyal hound.

Beautiful place, dogs are not only welcome, but cherished here. Great for a walk. The gallery and shop has a great selection of artwork, souvenirs and original things for you and your dog. The chapel is one of a kind. This place is definitely worth a visit!

Took my border collie here for my birthday. It made me really happy to see him playing with the other dogs. It's beautiful on the mountain in the Spring. There are tulips, green grass, ponds, farm buildings, and hiking trails, lotsa forest surroundings. The chapel is special. Dog owners who's dogs passed away have left personal note messages to their loved one. Pretty amazing little chapel with stained glass and you could spend a good hour in there just reading the messages. I hear they do lotsa events there and concerts too for owners and their pets. One of my favorite places in the area to visit.

I have driven by the signs for 3 years, finally went in due to a family dog passing. I loved it. First thing I saw was 2 dogs running into and out of the chapel. Walking trails, gallery and the chapel itself was amazing.
Worth coming. Stated be careful on the road. Drive slowly.

We were moved to tears when we stepped foot into the chapel. So much love (and sadness) in there. It's a beautiful tribute to pets that have passed. The trails were great and not too difficult for our youngest (3yo) to navigate. There were ripe berries along the path, that the kids were picking and eating. We got to meet lots of dogs and people. Gift shop/ gallery was beautiful. Staff was friendly. Overall a fun time.

Special place to honor the bond between human and dog. Do stop if you are anywhere near. Great gift shop and museum. Grounds and nice, set up on a hill. The Dog Chapel is prettyneat. Think of a bar in Key West with the walls and ceiling covered with pinned dollar bills. Dog Chapel is like that but with photos of dogs that have passed on. Obviously dog friendly, no leash law. Trails to hike and always other people with their dogs visiting.

Special, magical place that honors dogs and everything good about them. We enjoy Stephen Huneck’s art so much, we purchase it as gifts whenever we can. We’ve wanted to visit Dog Mountain for years, and when we finally had the chance to travel to Vermont, it was our first stop.

Dog Mountain is a dream come true for us. We came here to celebrate my puppy, Lily’s birthday! The land itself and trails are lovely. Dogs are allowed to roam freely throughout (except in parking areas, and the gift shop). Lily swam in the pond and made lots of friends. It was her happiest day coming here.
The deeply emotional part of our visit was to the chapel to honor dogs who have passed. Its walls are covered with notes and photos from the families of their loved ones.
Lily and I look forward to continuing to support Dog Mountain. We are so thankful for this beautiful place and the memories we made during our first visit here.

The grounds are beautiful & serene; dogs run off-leash & you can sense their pure enjoyment. The chapel is designed with dog themes, including the weathervane & its a perfect place to see & feel the memorialized tributes of all the beloved furry friends that impacted their families. Although this place brought me to tears, it is a peaceful & soothing setting to sit & reflect.
Also, check out the gift shop with a touch of whimsy featuring artwork, crafts, clothing, etc from local artists, you'll definitely find something - even for cat lovers too. Check out the bathroom even if you don't need to use it!

Have you ever cried after visiting somewhere so magical and genuine? I did, this is a place of unexpected dog pets, peace, and joy. My dogs and I love Dog Mountain! We have been numerous times, even though it's over a four hour drive from us! We finally got to go for one of their summer parties and had an absolute blast! They have lots of area for dogs to run and play and swim and a Chapel dedicated to our passed pets that anyone can add to.

I love it here. I bring my dog to the dog parties every year and he loves it. If I could give a ten star review I would. At the dog parties there are food trucks, a band, a raffle, fun games for the dogs and more.

This spot was so beautiful and peaceful! I visited the gallery and the chapel, as well as walked around the grounds a little. They had trails to hike on that were very well groomed and a nice little pond with benches nearby. The chapel was breathtaking and a bit emotional, the walls are covered in photos and notes to passed pups from visitors. It was very quiet and peaceful while I read some notes, just a really wonderful experience! I want to go back and bring my pup, they would love it!

This place is a GEM in Vermont! My Aunt recommended it and she was so right! Not only is the art and chapel a sight to behold but the nice trail walk is splendid too. We loved seeing all of the love for long lost fur kids. It brought tears to all of our eyes, not for the sadness but the beauty and love. We then walked the trails and as an amateur photographer I could have gone crazy with the views! This is a place to get family pictures, senior or pictures and a wedding would be fabulous at this spot! They have a dog pond to have the dogs swim and play ball too! The trail was easy for the kiddos and full of beautiful views with so many wild flowers. All through the trail was sculptures that truly added to the walk. We were there for about 3 hours and it wasn’t enough to just soak it all in, but we were on a time restriction. We made a donation to enjoy the grounds, based off their suggestions and it was worth every penny. Highly recommend to packing a lunch to have a beautiful picnic at this spot!

This place is great! There is ample grounds for the dogs to roam and play. There are beautiful mountain views as far as the eye can see. One of the best things about Dog Mountain is the Chapel. It is a place to honor and remember man's (or woman's) best friend. The Chapel has thousands of pictures, notes, and cards honoring pets of all breeds. It is a really cool place that is worth checking out if you come to Vermont!

Absolutely an amazing experience for both humans and pets! It has trails u can walk, but I always go for the freedom of allowing your dog to Rome free. No fence or designated places for pets only! The best part is all the happy puppies 🥰

A friend recommended stopping here while we were in the area. Very cool spot. It was raining, so we did not explore the trails, but the Dog Chapel was beautiful and moving. The art gallery was interesting to wander through as well. I would definitely recommend stopping here and wandering this beautiful farm and art gallery, especially if you love dogs.

Great place for a comedy show or a small band, acoustics are not top notch and their equipment seems to be a bit on the older side and needs an update. Concessions are moderately priced. One frustrating part is if you sit close to the stage they do not let you exit through the side door at the front and the staff aren't the nicest about it.

I've only been to two shows there, but both times were really great. The staff was really nice, the actual place was clean and easy to get in and out... parking was a little tricky, but eventually found a spot just down the street, FREE!

Staff were wonderful here but the facility was lacking. The seats were comfortable and had cup holders. Concession was small and moderately priced. The acoustics were poor and it was too warm and stuffy on this cool June evening. They had trouble with the sound system, too, feedback and mikes going out. Restrooms are downstairs and are small (four stalls in the ladies' and one was out of order). The accessible toilet was leaking pretty badly. I'm not sure how accessible this place is otherwise.

Natural history museum with over 30,000 specimens, artifacts & photographs, plus a planetarium.
The building is just as interesting as the many exhibits in this museum! We loved looking at and reading everything and our 3 year old had a blast in the kids science area.

Great small museum off the beaten track. Never been anywhere quite like it… Unapologetically eccentric in the best possible way. With all the original collections including plenty of wild stuffed animals and other eclectic treasures, it really feels like stepping back in time.

Small but detailed museum full to the brim with interesting specimens. The building feels timeless; it’s ornate and warm in a way you don’t see very often in modern buildings. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and I found the price to be reasonable—though I admit, upon first seeing the size of the exhibition hall, I had my doubts about the value. Once I’d run out of time for the day and still had more than half the museum to explore, I felt that I definitely had my money’s worth. I’ll be back to see more another day!

It is worth the bucks if you are into science and history. It is great they also showcase different cultures from the east. Thanks for being open on Labour Day. A remarkable building inside and out. We enjoyed our visit. It's an eclectic collection with many surprises, e.g., a Maori spear and an Egyptian sarcophagus! It's well laid out on two levels, the upper level being gallery style. The interactive displays looked good for kids. Entry fee is modest. Very good value museum. It will be interesting to see the new extension when it's completed. We'll be back.

The Fairbanks Museum is something you have to experience to fully appreciate. With that being said, it's a haven celebrating science, nature, and culture. The collection is priceless, from the carefully positioned birds of Vermont to the beautifully woven Abanaki baskets. There is obvious care and consideration put into every single piece displayed in this museum. I live in Burlington and don't mind taking the beautiful 1.5 hour drive to Saint Johnsbury just to see this museum. The wildflowers of Vermont display, the butterfly garden, and the planetarium are all parts of this museum worth enjoying and visiting. I hope this special place is celebrated for many more years to come. Definitely worth a visit!

This place is gorgeous. From the extensive collection of taxidermy, to the incredible architecture, to the fun and unexpected planetarium show, the Fairbanks is a gem. We went once and it surely wasn’t enough, can’t wait to go back and bring visitors with us. My toddler was a little antsy, but between the animals and the science area, my kid had a great time.

A MUST visit. Great place to take the kids. Lots of interactive displays to entertain them for hours. The pieces in the original museum were very interesting. The highlight of the visit was the planetarium. The presentation was very compelling and the presenter was very enthusiastic and passionate.
The first time I went here was with my parents in 1994 - who instantly found a book on pirates and a pirate with the same last name as us. they have some free books they give away. i got tech support to get my computer back online. The bathrooms in the basement are pleasant and newly renovated. It’s worth taking a trip to the athenaeum when in town. It’s a great place to work on a manuscript and the librarians are helpful. They do have events to look into.
The children's section is newer than the main building. The main level is spectacular with built in wood paneling and old books. I found a kid’s book on the free shelf called 'Piper Reed Navy Brat' in some ways similar to the one I am writing, which was really helpful in studying the content and making comparisons and what to omit since I cannot afford an MFA program.
There are some massive oil portraits that belong in an art gallery on the third floor. There are those green glass lampshades like the classic ones found in banks on the desks on the third floor. The internet connection is fine but the computers are kind of limited which wasn’t a problem because I had my own to use.

This building is gorgeous. It houses the town's library and a small gallery in the back. They like donations for the gallery which is well worth it. $5 a person or $10 for the family. The works are absolutely gorgeous and the Yosemite view is fantastic! The building inside is stunning with wooden spiral staircases. It's a great place to stop in and visit or to actually use as a library if you like. Staff here are friendly and nice a the bathrooms are clean. Definitely worth a stop in if you are in town.

Extraordinary place. A mixture of a library, art gallery, and lecture hall.
Very few places like it on the country and that’s unfortunate.
Self-guided tours of glacial caves formed during the Ice Age plus a rock garden & a nature trail.
This was our second visit and we loved it as much as we did the first time.
Lots of stairs, but pretty easy to climb. There are many tunnels and caves, some very tight and challenging to squeeze through (don't take a backpack with you if you want to fit in all), but a fun experience, for sure!
If you're in good health, athletic, and not claustrophobic, I highly recommend it.
The views on top are amazing. We loved it!

Amazing place for beginning spelunkers! Scenery was breathtaking. Took about 2 hours to go through and fully explore all 9 caves. I could sit on top of the mountains for hours and simply enjoy Mother Nature’s beauty. There is a duck pond and a nature area with ewes to feed and pet ($2 corn in gift shop), a mining gem area and a rock garden to walk through. Grounds are bigger than expected
Be careful in the devils turnpike, the metal steps to exit the cave are deteriorating, jagged and could be a potential hazard! (Last pic)

Beautiful park tucked into a natural forest setting. Not overly commercial. Well maintained. Lovely wooden stairs and metal ladders guide you through a series of exciting cave explorations. Blessedly cool in the caves in August. We went on a Monday and it was great but the very large parking lot was mostly empty. Weekends might get crowded.

Kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and deer (food reasonably priced) before our caving excursion. We went here and to Lost River Gorges and Flume Gorge on the same trip. I appreciated the placards at the Gorges, which provide detail of the area/caves (including indicating the difficulty level and the what to expect within the cave at Lost River). Therefore, I’d recommend Lost River Gorge above the Polar Caves if you are short on time. However, Polar Caves were fun and a good challenge for our family; it was nice to engage in some activity that pushed us out of our comfort zones.

We had a great time feeding the animals, climbing through the caves ECT.
Caves stay cool even in the summer (went in late June). There are bypasses so that those who want to come but aren't interested in squeezing through the caves can join.
We took our kids ages 7, 3, and 1.5 and had fun. It was tricky going through the lemon squeeze.
Great overall!

Very cool place. As a kid I had always gone to lost gorge caves but this place was a little different. I was worried it would be too much of the same thing since we went to lost river the day before, but it was definitely a different experience comparatively. This place is a bunch of ”glacially formed" caves and caverns made from large boulders. The caves seemed longer than lost river and were a different vibe because there was no river running through the area. Very interesting rock formations. You can see that the caves are discovered, and mostly naturally made, however this location seemed to have more human support to make them accessible to the public than lost river. There were areas inside caves that certainly had boulder stairs added inside, which isnt a bad thing at all.... I just noticed that lost river seemed more natural and untouched.

Well worth the trip and price. Can see within 1-2 hours. Ducks and deer at front then nicely done walking path well lit in the darker cave areas. Highly recommend. Good for kiddos too probably 5+ ish

Super amazing! A gorgeous family friendly walk with a range of caves at many levels of difficulty to explore. Incredible wooden stairways and walkways throughout, beautiful nature trails and awe inspiring views. That plus a great gift shop and some cute deer to feed make it a wonderful place to visit. Definitely not a good place for people who can't handle a lot of stairs and walking but besides that great for a wide range of ages.

This place is absolutely magical. My kids were having so much fun scrambling over the rocks and climbing through everything. They had such a blast they got worn out.
While going through the caves I would recommend not having a big bag with you as it will get in the way. Be prepared to scramble and squeeze through some areas. This was my first time back in 32 years and it was still just as amazing.

Beautiful and allegedly one of the longest covered bridges. The red color is striking and looks great over the river below. Bridge does a great job getting you across without getting wet.

Very beautiful and tranquil setting. Got some great pictures of the scenery from the bridge. Would highly recommend seeing this, ESPECIALLY in the fall!!

There was a beautiful waterfall right past the bridge. The town was mostly boarded up, with for sale signs. The oldest red brick country store in New Hampshire, was closed due to covid. I asked the locals, the reply was the owners couldn't find staff to work.

Worth the stop. History as well as historical structures are a gift left by our ancestors.

It was my second visit to the Bath Covered Bridge! And it was so much better than the last, especially with the special spot from the locals. It's a pool under the bridge, perfect for relaxing! It's a can't miss quick scenic stop.

I've been to the bath Covered Bridge a few times and it never disappoints. It's a nice long bridge more so than most covered bridges.
Unlike some covered bridges, Bath is fully functional. So you can drive through from end to end. It is fairly wide but be careful if walking through since you do share the single lane with cars.
The span itself is in quite good condition. I enjoy spending time here. I normally get something to snack on or a coffee at the brick store right at the bridge. Although it seems the brick store has closed. I'm not sure if it's temporary or permanent. So maybe get a coffee before you get there.
I like to just watch the water flow under the bridge and over the small falls. I find it calming. But there are a surprising amount of cars that do travel over the Bath bridge.
A really nice place to stop. For me, it's normally a destination.

Beautiful old covered bridge that we stopped to see on our way up Rt 10 the other day.. it's sad that the general store nearby isn't still open, but it's a great place to get out of the car to stretch your legs!

The construction is fascinating inside. Park on the side away from town to use the paths to get more views.

Stopped here on our way through New Hampshire to check out one of the longest covered bridges in NH and oldest in America. Beautiful structure!
The souvenir penny machine doesn't work near the General Store and the store front is closed.

You have to see it in person to appreciate it's majesty! It's amazing due to its size and its location perched on a waterfall. And the surrounding town is adorable- a great spot to pitstop: beautiful views, a charming but functional general store, an art gallery, and a delicious little restaurant.

Beautiful long bridge off the beaten path. On the South-West end just off River Rd, the is a nice sandy swimming hole below the falls.

One of the prettiest bridges in the area. You can park on the small dirt area and walk down the ATV path to the water. This is where you start tubing.

Nothing much, you can experience driving through a covered bridge. Was not crowded at all when we went
