Screw Auger Falls
Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Small waterfall accessed by multiple trails, popular for swimming, picnics & nature exploration.
Short trail to the falls from the parking lot. Good view from the ledges, but also some spots to get down to the water.
Sheep Davis — Google review
Obstructed views in some regions of the fall, cascades are pretty, short walk from parking area. Primarily boulders and roots to walk on, tread carefully
LaDonna Henslee — Google review
Nice falls to visit for the able bodied. A little more "interesting" for others. We went with a couple older folks based on the handicapped access descriptions. The difficulty came in getting the last few feet to a place that actually sees the falls. I have included those pictures.
The erosion barrier creates an obstacle that may block some from getting to the area immediately over the falls. Please look. The park doesn't really have an Overlook / Observation point.
Many will make it fine, just please be aware.

My family has a cabin built by my great Grand father in New Hampshire that we spend a week at once a year. This is my favorite place to visit while we’re there. Such amazing views and a cool place to hang out at
Fuel The Soul — Google review
Easy parking, short short walk to the falls. Our kids had a blast splashing in the rocks and water. I recommend bringing water shoes. It can be slippery. Spent about an hour exploring and having fun. If you stick to the trail it’s a much shorter activity. Also has picnic tables.
Rachel Krich — Google review
Nice drive to get there. Not much parking. Their is bathrooms. The trails were well kept. The water falls were beautiful. Nice swimming holes.
Jeffrey Parquette — Google review
Nice spot to stop an take a breather. Short walk around the park with nice views of the falls.

Went here in the 90s on a family road trip as a kid and I never forgot it. We didn't hike or do much outdoorsy stuff but I was a fan and wanted more! 30 years later and I've climbed, hiked, and mountaineers all over North America.

Sunday River Bridge
Bridge
Sights & Landmarks
Nice short easy trail from the base of the bridge. The bridge is decommissioned so you can explore without the worry of getting hit. Parking for 5-10 cars. Lots of good spots to take photos of the bridge but also don't underestimate pictures of the river along the trail

A Lovely place to enjoy a walk or a picnic near this picture is covered Bridge.

A quiet trip to the bridge was very scenic and beautiful.

Glad we could walk across, needs a sign or plaque about its history though. Love the history of these old bridges.

Pretty cool architecture for a 150 yr old bridge (1872) over the Sunday River just off the access road to the ski resort.

It has some nice walking trails next to it.

Leaf peeping led my daughter and I here today! She is from Illinois and here for her first time. Near peak color and couldn't have asked for a better day. This is the only Maine bridge she got to see but I made sure she saw it!

A very nice historical stop with interesting architecture. Worth a visit anytime if the year. We were lucky to catch it in the fall and enjoyed our experience on a misty fall day.

Sept. 29, 2021 - Take several minutes to walk into the PAST ! This is 1 of 9 covered bridges in Maine. Most of these old wooden covered bridges were constructed more than a century ago, prior to the use of steel. Sometimes the local town decides to protect and rehab the old covered bridge? This bridge is in reasonable shape, but there’s no historic plaque?
I rate this a solid 4.5 ! Most of the old covered bridges are isolated, and “not utilized“ anymore to carry vehicles. Most folks traveling west to east between ME & NH, stop to see local colorful foliage outside North Bethel & Newry . . . this is a picturesque spot of the Sunday River, complete with a postcard covered bridge !
This Paddleford Truss bridge is 87 feet long, built in 1872, and was closed to vehicular traffic in 1958.

Always one of my favorite places to stop when driving through bethel. My grandfather brought me here as a kid and it's great to now bring my own children. Love looking for really old cravings in the bridge. Lots and lots and lots of bugs though bring extra bug spray.
Nordic skiing & slopes for all levels at a ski resort with summer hikes, biking & chairlift rides.
A fantastic place to ski with friends and family. Great mountain for all levels. Impeccably manicured, tons of trails open, fast lifts with minimal wait. Food was perfect and fast. Lots of room, inside and out to rest. The staff is amazing, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. Plenty of parking with shuttles. My go to slopes only 4 hours from Rhode Island.
Mark McHugh — Google review
One of the most lavish mountains i’ve ever road. The trails were endless and the views were breathtaking. Trails were groomed perfectly and there’s parks for all levels. Would highly recommend.
Charles Bianco — Google review
Amazing resort at a very reasonable price. The had a huge variety of trails and multiple lodges. Would highly recommend whether it's your 1st time or your 100th.
Jesse High — Google review
My favorite ski mountain so far! The staff and people that go here are very welcoming and friendly. Ski patrol is constantly patrolling high peaks ensuring everyone is safe and enjoying the experience. Their terrain parks are 1A, great for all skill levels! I wouldn’t however say it’s a good mountain for beginners. Great for intermediate to expert skiers/ snowboarders. The Foggy Goggle has AMAZING burgers!
Ambar Marchena — Google review
After skiing most major resorts in the US North East Sunday River might take the cake. I was there late March but still decent snow for 50°F. The resort just keeps sprawling and you can go a day or two without hitting the same thing twice easy. Can't wait to go mid season the Glades look amazing. Highly recommend.
Evan Cox — Google review
We love Sunday River, and always stay at the Jordan Hotel so that we can get Coffee Hound cappuccinos every morning at the Northern Lights Cafe. We LOVE this espresso. It makes our vacations here all that much better when we can have a coffee (or three) that we love. Oh, and the skiing is excellent too!
Rob Foley — Google review
Sunday River had opening day, today. All snow was machine-made. This year Sunday Rivers opening day was at the Jordan bowl area. Lalapalooza and another run were open. Jordan 8 was in operation. Skiing was not great but it was good. Machine-made snow was a bit crusty. But, still better than nothing! Go get your turns in before the rain!
Peter Hunter — Google review
We loved Sunday River. We rented equipment and that process was easy and fast. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. It had been warm for a few days so it was a little icy on some of the blue runs that were ungroomed on Friday. We skied again on Sunday and they had groomed everything and the skiing was awesome. This place is so big and spread out it never got crowded. It offers a good variety of skill levels throughout the resort. With at least four lodges we never had a problem finding a place to sit while eating. The food is good but overpriced like all ski resorts. Definitely check this resort out!
Charles Grill — Google review
I loved Sunday river resort! As a beginner skier I was able to get beginner lessons while my friends could go on double diamond paths. Can get very crowded on the weekends starting as early as 8am. Highly recommend staying in one of the resort hotels.
Kavya Nagabhushan — Google review
Great l place! Plethora of fun trails for all experience levels, from a first timer to shred master. Lots of different peaks to explore and places to eat. Loved the up-keep of the place and grooming of trails. All the staff are very pleasant, cheerful and always willing to help. We will definitely be coming here next year!
Olga Kovalysheva — Google review
Love this place! Short lift lines, long, W I D E runs and Bullwinkle's really has a decent food selection. Most runs are blue and green however if you are looking for a challenge, there are blacks as well. The terrain park is well groomed with some good kickers and all the boxes. If you're looking for something you need to try out Jordan bowl! The quad that takes you to the peak is like riding in a limousine. This place is definitely five stars! 😉 🏂⛷️
Jason Kovarik — Google review
Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, with a good range of trails for all levels, and modern (fast) lifts to keep lines down.
Salvatore Albano — Google review
One of the best on the east coast. Definitely #1 for lift service. They have a heated lift and another that's half lift/half gondola! It's amazing. A huge mountain, with a ton of great trails to choose from. We can't wait to come back!
Lily Hager — Google review
My new favorite ski resort.
8 peaks plenty of trails for beginners to advanced.
Beware your local blue trails are like the greens at the top of Sunday river.
Trails are wide and well groomed.
The Igloo at the base of Jordan's Bowl was a cool hangout
Sunday River is awesome
dtune — Google review
If anyone says Sunday River isn’t world class, then they haven’t been!
By far some of the best skiing/snowboarding in New England.
Every run was fantastic— so wide even the greens were fun!
Tons of trails for everyone, at every experience level.
If you’re worried about going, make the trip, you won’t regret it!
Pro tip: get your hotel and Town and Country Inn just over the line in NH. Inexpensive and only 30min away from Sunday river!
Ben Kahan — Google review
It’s a pretty big ski resort in New England. It has different levels of trails for skiers to go skiing. As a beginner, the green trails here is a little bit challenging for me because the mountain is big so the route is long and a little bit steeper. However, I will like to visit here again when I practice more skiing.
Abbey Chang — Google review
My friends and I had a good time here at Sunday River. It's truly a massive mountain and lots to do. If I were to go back I would try to stay for more than one day. The staff were friendly and the facility was clean for the most part. We did go on a more expensive weekend which made it to be $150 per person. This is definitely more than I would like to have paid since it doesn't come with a meal voucher or any discounts. I think that it's definitely not worth going at $150 each but maybe more towards $110. They did have a party going on that weekend but $18 for some redbull and vodka is too much for something that's not a club
Kevin — Google review
What is there to not love about Sunday River ? Spectacular views, great skiing .. they opened up a igloo at the bottom of Jordan .. walk in and have some drinks (which are ridiculousy over priced), techno music playing. .
Their new lifts are amazing 🤩 heated bubble chairs 🤩
Great trip for kids, or adults that just like railroads, this narrow gauge train takes you on a short trip stopping at a scenic spot along the Sandy River as well as a rebuilt railroad house.
The track is about a half a mile long. The train will take you to the end of the line stopping for about 15 minutes giving you time to explore or listen to a brief presentation.
A second 15 minute stop is made on the way back at a the railroad house. In this area are several old railroad cars, cabooses, and old pump cars, one of which can be tried out.
There are short trails along the river to explore and a small building at the end of the line that serves as a nice museum with old railroad photos and artifacts.
Beautiful trip especially in the Fall
Troy Ancona — Google review
A short ride but guides did a wonderful job with the exhibits. Well worth the visit, great for kids.
If you’re looking for the real steam train experience this isn’t it but a nice hour long outing in a beautiful part of Maine. Thanks to all!
Scott Walker — Google review
Even though it was pretty hard to get too, it was still well worth the trip. Had a great time yesterday here with my dad and a friend of his, it was especially amazing learning about the history of this railway before it became what it is today. The staff were really nice to us and they did a great job of giving us the whole tour of the area and explained the whole history of the railway, on the way back, I asked and I got permission from engineer Sharon to ride in the cab of engine #4 all the way back to the depot. I will definitely come back here again in the near future when ever any special events happen, thank you guys especially for letting me ride in the cab as well!
Anthony Nichols — Google review
We took the night train which runs once a year, I believe. It's lit by oil lamps in the beautifully restored coach, which offers quite a unique experience, and really feels like stepping back in time. Partway through the ride, they stopped the train to let us switch to the open air car, where we could lay on our backs and look at the stars while the train moved. The volunteers who make this experience possible are the best, and they are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating.
Sam Shirley — Google review
Interesting place to visit. People very knowledgeable about the railroad. Enjoyable
Michele James — Google review
Such a great spot! The walk is easy for young children and is nice right by the river. The trains are really cool and when they have them running for rides, it's a great time.
Sacha G. — Google review
The whole experience was awesome! From the gentleman selling the tickets ($6 per adult) and working their little shop to the gentleman on the train, they all were very well versed with the train and rail system history. It absolutely is worth your time to check this stop out. You can easily spend just over an hour to most of the day visiting this spot. Completely recommend.

Just happen to stumble across this place yesterday and decided to check it out. So glad we did. Such a nice spot, you can feed the goats (tons of babies🤗) theres a cute play area for the little ones, ice cream shack serving locally made ice cream and a nice little farm store with local/fresh meats, veggies etc. Highly recommend visiting and supporting local agriculture! Cant wait to come back.

Me and my husband went here for the corn maze and it was fantastic. Not easy and not just for kids. They do have tons of activities for kids. This place has more going on than most. Shop has a good selection of stuff. I love any farm that sells their own meat. We grabbed some of their stuff ice cream. Delicious. Highly recommend.

Awesome spot for the freshest produce, you cut flowers, sweet goats, local jams etc.
So much fun! The sleds are truly great, and the GPS is a really nice feature. If you are an experienced rider, this place is definitely for you. Absolutely no hassle at all, quick to get you out on the trails, and the self guide is legit. Between the paper map and the GPS, it's really hard to get lost. I will say that the intersections aren't all marked, and the writings on the signs is worn off an a lot of them, but that's not the fault of Northeast. No worries either with fuel, we did 65 miles in 4 hours and only burned a half a tank! Checking back in was super smooth, just return your helmet, get your name checked off and head out. We will definitely be back, it was so easy and a blast! Staff were all good too, very efficient.
Cory Stone — Google review
I must say this place is well worth it. The staff were absolutely amazing. From the time we arrived till the time we were leaving. If you go make sure you show up early it really helps the process. The snowmobiles were in perfect condition. The trails were well marked and easy to follow. The snow machines had a gps screen built right into it and was super helpful. I can’t thank the staff enough for making the whole experience just amazing and unforgettable.

Pretty strict cancelation policy, but there's plenty of communication about it, so can't fault them for it, just know that they will stick to it. We had 4/7 of our party back out the day before the reservation and bad news for them, they couldn't get their money back. Good news for the rest of us, is they threw in an extra hour of time for the rest of us! Really nice and not something they had to do, but really appreciated it. Check in is easy and modern. Plenty of helmets in different sizes, so it was easy to find one that fit. My sled was fast, fun and reliable. Had an awesome time, I absolutely recommend renting here. Every person we interacted with was helpful and friendly, absolutely no complaints.

So much fun. I'd highly recommend it. My wife & I took a Friday afternoon off and took a ride. The trail map and directions were fine. The staff was great etc. Can't wait to do it again.

It was awesome riding all day with these snowmobiles - friendly staff, got us oriented and out on the trails real quick!
Will M — Google review
I personally can't recommend. They really need to update the video they make you watch. There were things I never would have done had they not told you to do so in the video. There were also MANY safety issues and instructions that were missing from the video. After watching the video there were no employees there as to what to instruct you on what or where to go next and if you are new or a first timer there was no one there to make sure you were getting the appropriate head gear size. Another huge safety issue. Also the trails are not very well marked. We were not the only ones to complain about this while on the trails many others got lost or just kept going in circles. We would not use this group again and if hadn't become lost and had to ask locals who also told us the ski mobile map we were given was inadequate would have went right back. ( Telling us to call them if we got lost before we went out was a joke when your out in the woods alone with no cell service). No refund or credit given for out outing being ruined.
Joseph M — Google review
Rented snowmobiles here with my dad and his friend. We did the 3 hour self guided tour and it was the perfect adventure! These snowmobiles are brand new beasts like they are so powerful. You can tell how dangerous they are so we spent some time learning to control them and then let loose! I hit 95mph on a groomed straightaway - what a rush! I had so much fun and was smiling all day exploring the scenic trails through the woods and ripping through the fields. 10/10 would recommend for adventure/thrill/excitement/fun during the winter.
My only feedback:
-Tried to do the 3 hour loop trail they showed us and got lost multiple times due to poor trail markings of the F intersections.
-I wish they showed us how to use the touch screen GPS or plugged in that route for us.
-2 or 3 times we came to a road crossing and had no idea where the trail picked up on the other side - it would have been nice to know to ride the side of the road left or right a little and then cross.
Thank you!

We had an Amazing experience at the Fryeburg, ME location.
The staff were courteous, friendly and helpful; Especially John, who explained us the rules and demonstrated how to maneuver the Snowmobile.
John also drove us out till the trails and made sure we were all steady and comfortable using the Snowmobile.
The trails are breathtakingly beautiful with picturesque views. We had the option of taking a 2 hour, 4 hour, or 8 hour trail. We chose the 4 hour trail which we finished in about 3.5 hours. The trails are well marked with wide paths, making it easy to navigate. But, be careful not to drive too fast as curvy turns might appear suddenly.
The snowmobiles are in perfectly new condition and can reach speeds of 70 MPH. They are professionally equipped with a small heater which blows warm air on the hands. We loved that feature very much!
We had a wonderful time and are definitely planning to return next winter!!

I had reservations and by the time I got there, most of the snowmobile suits my size were gone. Definitely not handicapped friendly. Definitely get the insurance because the slightest repair is outrageously expensive. Had a great time but some trails are so sharp the machine tips over. This trip was in February 2017.
Storied resort offering day & night skiing, plus on-mountain lodging & eateries including a pub.
The night skiing was great. Parking is easy and so was getting passes. There is a ticket window right out front. Night pass on Monday was $32 including the card. Mountain uses an RFID card system so once you get the card you can reload it online for even speedier starts.
Lines were very short for the lifts. Summit lift very rarely stopped and we were able to get 16 runs in about 4.5 hours with a short 20 minute break for food.
Great mix of easier and harder terrains. The groomers went out around 430 to provide a nice surface for night skiers. Was not expecting that but a pleasant surprise.
Sam Richardson — Google review
Nice but narrow trails. Decent vertical drop. It would be a very challenging ride in icy conditions, but we went when it was sticky spring snow. The vistas are gorgeous. The lines were very short and the mountain was easy to navigate via the lifts. We parked at the East lodge. It was closed, but there were no cars so we were 25 feet from the car to the lift.
Ryan Soucy — Google review
BIG CHANGES are already apparent at Pleasant Mountain. There is more man made snow on the trails than I have ever seen before. The trails are also wider now and snow cats are doing an even better job of making the surface perfect.
I visited last Sunday and the conditions were excellent from first run to last. Despite the cars being parked well down the road, we didn't wait at any line for too long.
I am very thankful to the previous ownership for making improvements every year and keeping the place open, but I think the changes up there are going to be overwhelmingly positive. I hope they expand the terrain and the season.
If you have had a bad experience in the past, now is the time to give this amazing little mountain another chance!
If you are headed to the mountain the SkiHot ski shop is worth a visit. Either up the road on 302 or at the mountain this ski shop knows what's up. Stylish, affordable apparel, amazing logo gear, great skis and the most knowledgeable staff around.

Favorite slope in the area. I love night skiing and this is the place to do it. Plus, $25 for skiing 3:30-close Monday nights is hard to beat. Plus plus, you can get a “night skiing season pass” for $250. I call that a deal! ♪( ´θ`)ノEspecially compared to the prices of nearby mountains.
Some other benefits of the mountain include, modern RFID lift ticket scanners, a wonderful cafeteria with delicious food that seems to have been made with love and incredible views from the top. I’m a sucker for seeing water of any sort while skiing.
I’ve brought a few skeptics to Shawnee.. I mean Pleasant, and converted them with ease. Not the biggest slope around, but it seems to be the most loved.

Great Mountain, great conditions, great food, awesome night skiing, and reasonable prices!! My only issue, despite several calls, messages, and emails is that it took over 30 days to get our refund back after the mountain was shut down one day due to inclement weather. Other than that, it's one of my favorite mountains to ski and would recommend it to anyone!!
Corey Gagnier — Google review
This is a great small ski hill. It's not trying to be big, so it doesn't have that feeling, you can ski the whole place in a day. Cons are small hill, longer lines on weekends, slow lifts that stop a lot but briefly. The Parkes are small but rewarding. Overall great for new skiers and day trips from nearby.
Dawson Cormier — Google review
I’ve been to this place before when it was still Shawnee peak. Back then it was amazing and it still is amazing. The only differences I noticed is the brand changing. And the grassy spots on the trails. Still I had an amazing experience. The only problem was that there was a lingering cigarette smell when I was on the ski lift. The ski quality was amazing and the chairlift speed was decent except for when it slowed down a little bit. Other than that this was an amazing experience for me. Would come here again to ski!

As first-time visitors to Pleasant Mountain Ski Resort, we were thrilled with our experience! From the moment we arrived, the process was seamless and inviting. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the first-time ski lessons. Instructors Taylor, Matt, and Ethan were nothing short of amazing. Their patience and skill in teaching beginners like us were exceptional. They made the learning process enjoyable and less intimidating, ensuring we were comfortable and confident on the slopes.
The equipment rental process was equally impressive. It was smooth and well-organized, allowing us to get on the slopes quickly. The staff at the rental center were knowledgeable and helpful, ensuring we had the right gear for our skill level and the conditions.
Overall, Pleasant Mountain Ski Resort provided a fantastic experience for us as first-timers. The combination of top-notch instruction and efficient services made our ski trip memorable and enjoyable. We highly recommend this resort to anyone, especially beginners looking to learn skiing in a supportive and fun environment.

The staff is polite and friendly, and patient with people who are new to skiing. This is a great location to take a lesson and learn to ski or snowboard. The mountain has an assortment of slopes with a variety of different difficulties ranging from very easy runs for beginners to double black diamond runs that would be challenging for anyone.
The views from the top of the mountain are fantastic and on a clear day you can see Mount Washington. The night skiing is fun and runs later on Monday nights.
The rental skis seem reasonably priced and decently comfortable, but I would recommend bringing your own if possible.

We had a wonderful time on our sunset tour! My partner and I have no riding experience, but our guide was super kind and patient with us. She made us feel safe and secure and helped give us an unforgettable experience! The horses we rode, Midnight and Autumn, did an awesome job as well! They were very calm and sweet and you could tell they were well loved. I highly recommend Carousel Farms :)

My daughter and I had a nice mellow hour long trail ride. Clara, our guide, was very pleasant. The horses were very well mannered and trails were a nice balance of fields and woods.
There was supposed to be a 6% savings if you paid cash. I did offer to pay cash twice for the remaining balance but I was told she had my card right there on file both times so I said fine so my card was charged. I didn't feel like she wanted to bother with it.

We went on the private ride this past weekend. It was wonderful. The staff was courteous and friendly. The horses were gentle and well mannered. The scenery was beautiful. Our niece had a great experience for her first ever trail ride. Will definitely return if we are ever back in the area.

We were a group of first time riders and we really enjoyed ourselves. The horses knew what to do (haha, or didn't want to do... as the one older horse wanted to avoid the mud.) It was a memorable experience and our guide was a wonderful instructor. Thank you!

Great experience! We did the 1 hour beginners ride and the scenery was stunning! It was specifically Columbus Day weekend, so weather and foliage was ideal. I had the pleasure of riding Autumn, full of sass but so calm and patient - gorgeous horse. Great guide, great views, highly recommend if you’re looking for a leisurely activity while staying near Sebago Lake Region. Definitely something I’d love to do again!

The experience was better than I ever expected. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, patient, and made sure we had the experience we wanted. She even took the time to take a picture of us with the horses . The horses were friendly and each one of their personalities showed through out the ride and the scenery was beautiful .

Tiffany, the owner (also our trail guide), was great. She took me, my husband and son on a scenic trail ride that we'll likely remember for years to come. She helped us feel comfortable and even took beautiful pictures of the three of us with our camera. My son, age 13, and husband has never ridden before. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as did I.

It was not fun, we wanted more, the lady made us feel like we were in school . We wanted to experience it we want to conversation scenery, fun it wasn’t free that was our money. We’re on vacation and it felt like she just kept yelling at us if we made a mistake so we were all stressed out stressed out and enjoy it too much

This was my 11 year old daughters first time riding . We did the beginner riding session and it was great. The location and scenery was beautiful. Our guide Sarah was amazing! The only thing I think that would have pushed it to 5 stars would be if the horses were allowed to trot , if only for a minute. But besides that we loved it and plan on going back.
State park on the shore of Maine's deepest lake, offering sandy beaches, fishing, boating & camping.
This state park is a jewel. Campsites are spacious, level, and within a well maintain forest environment.
The beach and swimming area is great for children and adults alike.
Restroom/Showers were clean and well cared for. Sebago Lake is gorgeous and the roadways and sites around the lake are an added pleasure to a visit here.

We visited in the fall and enjoyed seeing the changing foliage. The lake and the scenery were spectacular. Most of the park activities had ceased for the season but it was apparent they have many activities and amenities during the summer and would be great fun during the warmer months.

The bathrooms were disgusting as well as the showers. There weren’t many accommodations especially for the high price and the campsites were very close together. I will say the beach was very nice and had a good location.

Very beautiful and peaceful! We should have waited a couple more weeks to see the trees turn but still definitely beautiful. Hiking was amazing and the weather was perfect! I will be back!

A must-visit for anyone visiting Maine, or that lives here. You can spend hours wandering around the grounds checking out the impressive trees and wildlife. If you get bored in the trees (how could you?!) just head on over to the beach! Seriously, you'll go from heavy woods to wide open lake. Just breathtaking 😍

We loved Sebago Lake, but one thing we all don’t like is waiting so long to get in. Last Sunday(July 23,2023) we were waiting about one hour and half to get in the lake. :(

Excellent location and pristine lake for a reasonable cost. We camped after Labor Day so lots of open spaces, but we are sure this place is packed in season. The RV sites had electric and water. The dump and trash stations were on your way out of the camping area. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. We loved the location, we had ducks walking around our chairs at the beach (probably expecting crumbs of bread). We wish we had less rain because the lake looked ideal for swimming and water activities.

Great hiking trails with amazing views of the Songo River and Sebago Lake. Well marked trails and maps at all intersections make very family friendly. Beautiful area!

The beach is paradise. The water is crystal clear. The campsites are packed together. There is zero privacy. The bathrooms are clean. It is a family atmosphere with a great playground, volleyball, tether ball and corn hole. My children and grandchildren love it and go every year.

Beautiful campgrounds. I only wish the sites weren't so close together. They can accommodate a good amount of people. The bathrooms were clean and taken care of. A separate place to do your dishes. You can get primitive sites for tents or almost full hookups. No black water, but there is a dump station. There are a lot of dumpsters for all your trash over by the dump station.
Kelly Jones — Google review
Loved the location and access to the lake/beach, and the state park and campgrounds had all the amenities - clean bathrooms, showers (with hot water!) - but a couple of negatives: 1) the camp sites are way too close to each other and there is no privacy between sites, 2) due to the proximity to other campsites, if your neighbors are chain smokers then you will spend the duration of your stay inhaling their smoke (why can’t smoking be prohibited in a state park?!), 3) firewood is $10/bundle at the ranger’s station, but they don’t give you the highest quality wood so you may want to buy elsewhere nearby. Otherwise, a great location to bring your family camping and enjoy all the activities that the lake has to offer.

Best campground I've been to in Maine: sandy beaches, beautiful views, hiking trails, amphitheater, nature center, clean bathrooms & showers, play grounds, volley ball, boat launch, well maintained.

I absolutely LOVE this campground. It's so clean and well managed. The MAINE Rangers do such a great job as stewards of their beautiful land. The lake is clean, the showers are hot and the memories made each year with my family are priceless. We will continue to come back every year.

A gem of a park on an enormous lake. Best way in is to hike or boat to clean trash free beaches. One can easily raft there from the Crooked river at many road and trail access points with great stops along the way. My only caution would be to watch for unleashed dogs on the trails. "He's friendly" is not a very reassuring comment if a dog is running towards you. The comment always reveals the fact that the owner does not have control of his animal.
Modest lakefront resort with relaxed accommodations, a golf course & marina, plus a bar & eatery.
Super clean, family friendly, Maine resort. We haven't stayed overnight on the resort but we got to enjoy some of it's beauty with friends who are with the Freedom Boat Club. Ample parking, phenomenal lakefront beach, playground, water pad, and lunch at The Landing / Beach Pavilion was very enjoyable. Live music started just as we were leaving. Would definitely return.

Been going for 30+ years; kid to adult.. We had reservations and paid deposit for 2022 back in summer 2021. Surprisingly they canceled on us (5 months away) because they are upgrading our site to a rental for more $$. Only offered the rental at a discount of 2500(3 times what we paid) or a different full RV site at almost double. umm.. no.. Breach of contact, but not worth the hassle. Place and culture has changed a lot since Cove Community took over. Its more of an outdoor association than a family resort with fun activities and entertainment. Sadly, seems an end of an era..

Excellent camping resort. Courteous staff, activities are plentiful, and the beach on the lake is a nice spot. Not overcrowded and perfect for swimming. Also used the marina to rent a boat. Rates, staff and accessibility were all great. Will return for a future visit.

I wish I could give it 0 stars. This place has turned what WAS a 5 star resort to a 0 star resort for family vacations. My family has been going for 35+ years and this year they have taken everything away that has made it so great and not listening their customers frustrations. I know reviews won’t stop people from going but for those that do go just KNOW that whatever your experience was/is, it would have been 1000x better 5 years ago. Imagine that. Not worth the money you will spend. Go elsewhere.

Used to love coming here as a kid. Have so many memories. Cove Communities bought the property in 2017/2018 and took the fun out of the place by removing basically everything that used to made this place great. It’s a shame knowing that I’ll never get to experience that again.

Awesome place just wish I could go in and look at the place because I haven't seen it since I was a kid I haven't been there and just wanted to see what it looked like was hoping I could go into the resort and just see what it looks like in case I ever want to rent something there or camp there.

This place is fantastic for families! Plenty for the kids to do in a safe environment. 3 beaches, a beautiful golf course, entertainment and even an inflatable water park for the kids! Great for the whole family. Plenty of restraunts on site and around, close to Portland and the coast for day trips and equidistant to the white mountains, hiking, and trails galore!

The Point Sebago we know and love is back. Due to Covid and new management, there were a few "dark years" of lessened activities
However, this year a full activity schedule and themed weekends are back, including... The coveted "I won it" t-shirts.

Point Sebago has tremendous potential. Location is awesome. Facilities are good. Food is edible. Staff certainly tries. They seam to be disconnected with management. For $400 a night and being charged at every turn they could do better. Entertainment is horrible. It’s sporadic in the qualities not great. It’s common to hear people complain about whoever’s running the entertainment should be fired !!!!!!! A $50 Bluetooth speaker isn’t entertainment…….
Jay Davis — Google review
We drove home from our Maine vacation a day early. Point Sebago Resort has great marketing materials, really good resort amenities and poor accommodations. Our 2 bedroom cottage was an old mobile home that was crammed next to another one. Decks & fire pits are in the front yards across from each other. About 10 feet apart from each other-not at all conducive to a quiet evening in nature. The bottom deck stair was broken, the lock required a lot of wiggling, the beds creaked every time you moved and the futon cover was gross. Oh, and there were several missing screens so you could not open the windows.
Also, cell service was horrible and internet worked only in the middle of the night.
Too many people. Hundreds of cottages and campsites!
The inability to reserve kayaks and canoes was disappointing. The young woman who was taking reservations at the marina needs some serious customer service skills training.
Not coming back here to stay-expensive for a disappointing experience.
Maine, on the other hand, is glorious!

This is season 7 for us at PS and there was a change in ownership around 2018. Slowly the thing that made this place amazing were whittled away and COVID simply made it even faster.
Fast forward to today 2023 and I’m excited to report that the place is almost back to the way it was 5 years ago with the exception of Chippy’s Camp (old timers will remember.)
The activities calendar is full like it always was, the activities staff all seem to be having fun with the kids, (shout out to Tim!) and the live music at the bar and the beach stage have been great!
The restaurant was renovated last year, the store a couple years ago, and the addition of the snack and ice cream walk up windows are awesome and very convenient when on the beach.
I would recommend perhaps some sort of movie time where adults could go to the live music or happy hour while the children are watching a movie this would be a great idea IMHO for those who have younger kids who can’t play by themselves, but would give the parents some time to enjoy some adult amenities.
Overall it seems the new manager is actually listening to the customers and is being PS back almost completely to its original form, great job!

Each cabin has it’s pros and cons. the beach is wonderful and the accessibility to get around is wonderful. I wish there were more kid programs, especially for smaller kids - under 5. It’s an expensive holiday for a week, but it is nice having everything there.
There is a shop to grab things like ice, snacks, etc, but it’s very expensive. For example, two pool noodles were $22, where as any other store would be like $5 each.
If you go, rent the golf cart. You won’t regret it!
We had a great time!! It was both of our first time watching something. It's been MANY years since I was in a play and he did the lights for one. It was nice to be on the other side and just sit and enjoy. We will be returning for a different performance in the future. Plus the ticket price is not much for what we saw.

Soooo... Went to see M for Murder. Great play! Fabulous actors etc... The theater is small, cozy and intimate. The seating is standard theater seats. Bathrooms in first floor only, there is an elevator. The seats were purchased were not the seats we sat in... Our balcony seats had absolutely no full view of the stage... And if it weren't for the fact that there were other seats that weren't being sat in, which we moved to, we would have missed half the play as we could only see half the stage. Glad we moved... Do NOT sit in seats to the right of the theater in the balcony... You'll miss the whole thing!

Fine summer theater, great production of As You Like It. Just don't expect Broadway caliber acting or super stars. Prefer to leave Shakespeare to the Stratford Theatre near Toronto, see revivals of 20th century plays like the Shaw in Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, or road productions of newer plays. $35 for senior tickets, nice. Great cozy old building.

Decided to go see Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol with my boyfriend. We were excited and optimistic about the show. Once we looked over the playbill we realized it was a one man show. We figured it was ether going to be amazing or let down. The play started off decent. About 20 minutes in it became hard to fallow as he kept talking to himself as many characters along with narrating the story. When it came to intermission we and many others decided to leave. Overall it was not a great experience and not worth the money. However the building itself was quite beautiful.
Amazing service in a super cool location. My only disappointment came when I realized it wasn’t closer to home. Definitely worth a stop. Those fiddleheads were epic!

A very popular local choice. You're going to find the place buzzing most times with a foundation of loyal locals. This place is on the Maine Beer Trail so, if you're here for craft brews you'll need to check this place out. It's unique, beer is good, food is pretty good. Atmosphere is good.

Randomly chose this Brewery to try when we were hungry and in the area. The parking lot was a little ways from the entrance but there were instructions on how to find the brewery that made it easy to locate on foot. The beer selection we chose was a nice variety. They had flights of 5 at an affordable price. The food was excellent. The staff was friendly. The environment itself was exactly what one would expect from the setting of a nicely renovated mill space. Highly recommend the dill wings and some dirty fries. They were the most delicious of all the flavors. My favorite beer was either the State Parks or the Coastal Haze IPA. Staycationland was very drinkable. There was a lot of room inside the brewery and the staff was all friendly and helpful. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the mood for a beer adventure!

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could just for ambiance! Walking up to it was most impressive. It's situated next to a beautiful water feature. Going inside did not disappoint. The entrance is unique and so are some things about the building.
The beers are good. I had a flight and of all 5 beers there wasn't really one that I didn't like.
The fried Brussel sprouts are good and taste a bit like kale chips, I'd definitely get that again. Wednesday is wing night with 1.00 wings which we happened upon and glad we did as the wings are big and delicious. The dry rubs are where it's at for the flavor/sauce options in my opinion.
The staff was friendly kind of.
I plan to go back

I'm kind of hoping we came in on an off day, but I'm giving this place 5 stars anyway for the bartender Kira and the beer selection. We loved the beer and the whole place is amazing, but the food was really underwhelming. We'll definitely be back and try again though, we really enjoyed ourselves.

The restaurant had some pretty good vibes and the inside it’s very cool looking. The entrance up to the front door is very different than a normal restaurant. Their beer is great.....
Visited here last Saturday afternoon (12/3) and found the place about half-full with people dining. There was room at the bar for myself and 2 guests, but apparently we picked the wrong side as we were quickly asked to move to the complete opposite side, no big deal, we just didn't see open stools over there. Once sat, the 3 of us were given 1 drink menu and 1 food menu. When asked what we wanted to drink, I had to ask for a drink menu myself as the only one was being shared by my company. So they bring us an additional drink menu, but for reasons unknown, take away our food menu. We also at this point asked about beer flight options. We were told no flights are available, as they did not have enough flight glasses for us. Less than half the tables were occupied and there was still plenty of room at the bar. But not enough flight glasses.... Ok. We order a regular size beer each. When those were brought, we were asked if we would like to order any food. We had to remind them that they took away our only food menu when they brought the 2nd beer menu. We got the food menus back and ordered some apps..The artichoke dip and a soft pretzel specifically, and those were both fantastic! We did order another round each, as the beer list had quite a few different things that all read as tasty. I only had time for my 2, and payed my tab. I didn't catch it at the time (and in hindsight feel silly about it), but the bartender failed to return my debit card when I signed the receipt! I had to return back to the restaurant from the parking lot to get my damn card back!
Very weird experience that afternoon, and in complete contrast to a prior visit in time myself, and what other people I know who have been there had experienced.
Like I started with though, their beer is great. The "Icestorm of '98" had an awesome citrus haze to it, and the "Firestack IPA" kinda had an amber thing going with Mosaic hops. I'm also a fan of their "Coastal Haze" IPA, and am suddenly thankful I can find that retailed in a lot of local stores.

Awesome look into the past. What happened at the Bates Mill in the 1800's? Why did little kids do the most dangerous jobs? Also a new section dedicated to the 2023 tragedy in Lewiston. All in my backyard!

This is a perfect place to go to if you homeschool or just want to know about the Bates Mill history. The fee is definitely affordable (I believe at 5 dollars per head, 4 for Seniors and Students) and the staff is very friendly.
I went today but ended up getting there a little too close to closing time so my son and I ended up checking out the 1st floor but what we saw was very interesting and informative. Next time we go, we'll have to check out both floors. ^_^
Hiking trails, various bird species & a stone fire pit in a nature preserve with woods & meadows.
Excellent spot. Easy but varied and well marked and maintained trails. There is variation in the length of the trails so you can do an easy, short walk if preferred. There are also enough trails to support a second visit, which I plan on doing. From one spot you can see the eastern edge of the white mountains.
There is a nice stream running through the place. The stone benches and fire places are visually interesting. It's always nice to be in nature and this place doesn't disappoint. The fact that it is just minutes away from downtown Lewiston is quite nice.
Note:
No dogs are allowed per the sanctuary rules.
The park closes at 8pm and does have a gate.

Tons of walking trails and bird watching opportunities here!! The trails all connect in one big loop with plenty to see. Red trail and Orange trails pass by old foundations and streams. Green trail ends at Whale Rock, a giant boulder looking out over a clearing by the power lines. The trail continues down past two old stone fireplaces before looping back to the parking lot.

A lovely place for hiking that's moderately inclined and has wide pathways that easily accommodate for multiple hikers, it's easy to pass hikers coming from the opposite direction without having to stand off to the side. There are numerous interconnected trails that are well marked, easy to navigate, and well kept. There were only a few areas that got a little squishy from the rain, but nothing that wasn't easily avoidable.
It's a nice and quiet area with benches throughout for resting and plenty of beautiful sights to capture on camera.
I also appreciate that dogs aren't allowed into the sanctuary as oftentimes it makes it harder to pass other people and can make it less tranquil. It also prevents the birds from getting disturbed.
Overall, it's a great place to hike that's a step up from easy, flat trails and offers plenty for sightseeing and exploring.

This place is fabulous! The trails are clearly marked and the trail map is easy to follow. You don't need super rugged hiking boots in the warmer weather but it is a best to wear a decent pair of shoes. In the fall/winter you will need boots/snowshoes. This is not a place for strollers or wheelchairs. The spring does cross some of the trails but it is easy to get across it. There are all sorts of benches to relax on throughout the sanctuary. The tallest point in Lewiston is here and you can also view Mt. Washington when it's not cloudy.

Nestled just outside the Freeport town lines, Bradbury Mountain State Park is a charming Maine destination offering a variety of outdoor activities. Despite its modest height, the summit provides stunning views of Casco Bay, especially during the vibrant fall season. With over 20 miles of trails catering to hikers, horseback riders, bikers, and snowmobilers, visitors can immerse themselves in nature's embrace.

It's one of my kids favorite spots to hike and play. A quick hike to a beautiful granite summit, a perfect spot for a surprise proposal! Close to Freeport! Bring bug spray and plan on hiking close to dawn or sunset to avoid crowds.

Love this park. The summit trail is a nice short 15-ish minute hike and is great for young hikers who can't do a whole mountain yet. The other trails are great as well and give you longer pathes to follow.

Bradbury Mountain offered a nice quick hike. The terrain and elevation gain wasn't bad. There were also a bunch of colorful mushrooms. My friend and I foubd mushrooms of every color. I would definitely do this again. It killed a few hours, including travel. It was wonderful seeing all the leashed dogs and people doing what they are asked to.
We tried many places and Snells had the best-looking plants. Friendly people too.

I'm having a great time picking apples at the farm for the very first time. So sweet, juicy, crunchy, and yummy apples. Also I bought some fresh veggies in their store as well. It's super delicious. It was so fresh and tasty.

I ordered flowers from Snell Family Farm for my wedding and they were absolutely perfect! I ordered my bridal bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, and 5 DIY buckets. Everything was beautiful! The DIY buckets were full of beautiful wildflowers as well as greenery that were perfect for all the centerpiece and arbor decorations. I cannot recommend Snell Family Farm more for event florals!

Are the only apples you got Macintosh. I want moldy brown and squishy apples. What I do with them is none of your business. Ok fine I'll tell you, I smash them up, and cover my body with the remnants. It smells like death but is the only thing that can get the flag up the pole. And let's just say, I'll be farting apple sauce for the next 5 days. So as I was saying these apples are to fresh thanks alot.

The Desert of Maine, once a quirky roadside attraction, has been transformed into an engaging destination by its new owners. This 40-acre area features a unique blend of glacial silt and thriving vegetation, offering an unusual sight. Despite its name, it's not a true desert and receives abundant rainfall. The property provides educational tours with informative signage explaining the ecological history of the area.
A really nice campground near the desert - campsite was wooded and private. Fun games available to play - playground size jenga, corn hole and connect four. Nicely renovated showers (small) and nice bathrooms. A sink to wash dishes and a convenient kiosk to buy firewood and snacks/beverages. There was a digital
Check in check out also. Camp guests can access the desert before and after tourist hours - short hikes near the campground. Interesting site - unusual history! A kids playground is open and also they have a nice gift shop - great gifts for kids. Staff were helpful. No one on site was available but they answer calls promptly. We enjoyed our stay - much nicer than state campground on the rest of our trip.

A very unique attraction! The playground is a nice start. We then entered the desert. While it isn’t actually a desert, it is a lot of sand left by a glacier. All the trees and the house under sand are very interesting. The Dino dig area is very cool! We found a few teeth and then buried them again for the next person. The gemstone area is a very cool labyrinth and you are allowed to take home your 3 favorite stones. There is also a swirling slide. We went on the story walk which tells us about how the desert was made. We took a quick picture in the car then made our way to the front. Overall, we had an excellent experience!

Our family really enjoyed our second trip to the Desert of Maine. Great spot for our kids to around. It was a hot day but there was plenty of shade along the mile walk to make it not overbearing. We brought a stroller but they also had some there for you to use.
Our oldest LOVES the mini golf!

The visit was for a fun company outing. We started with the train tour of the facility. Then we broke into teams for mini golf excitement. A great time was had by all.
The new owners are investing in beautiful upgrades throughout the facility.
The ecological portion of the tour was most educational.

What an interesting place! We weren't exactly sure what to make of this when we found this online, but glad we have ventured this way to check this out. We spent about 2 hours exploring the area, including the deserts, various trails, gemstone park, gift shop, playground, barn and cafe. The trail is self-guided, with various information signs along the main desert path, and lots of places and take neat photos. There is a cost to get in, children are a little bit less than adults, I believe we spent about $50 for two adults and two school aged children. The employees were very nice, one even provided some additional information as we were walking and exploring the trails. The center appears to be adding new areas to the compound, such as a mini-golf course to and Pavilion which will be done in the next year according to the nice employee at the welcome center. Glad we decided to check this place out! Now when we play the game Two Truths and One Lie, we can add visiting a desert in Maine to our truths.

Awesome little spot with some history. You could spend about 2 hours here if you play mini golf and read all the signs. They have a fossil digging experience for the kids which is under construction but still very cool. There is also a tree house like structure with covered "bridge" with a slide and a hobbit house to check out. Unfortunately the building was closed and I'm assuming that's where the sand museum was and the gift shop. Pretty disappointing as it was a long drive to get here. Desert itself was $16 and mini golf was $10. Would recommend if you're passing by!

The desert of Maine is a fun adventure for the family! We went there on weekend and although it was a little bit busy there wasn't a line to get in. The gift shop is pretty cute as soon as you walk in and you also get a map of the area to find some cool little spots to go hike around.
If you're just in it for the hike I would say it takes about an hour especially if you're taking your time and taking a lot of pictures and if you're digging for some gems. I would say it's a lot of fun with kids there is a little playground right at the front near the restrooms and also a nice kitchen area where you can eat at some picnic tables. They also have mini golf now so you can easily spend a couple of hours there on a weekend.
There's also a fossil digging area but we didn't stop in this time. The forest area toward the right side of the desert is really beautiful and a great place for photography and some relics of the past to explore. In addition it's very educational with a lot of signposts to go over why Maine even has a desert.
All in all it was a fun experience and we go there pretty much every year.

Amazing light hiking trails, show case such a diverse natural environment. Beautiful in the desert and the wooded areas. Activity centers for kids of all ages. Strongly recommend visiting, especially as they're expanding the attraction list. Look forward to seeing more historic and environmental themed exhibits in the future. Wonderful, polite, professional, and enthusiastic staff.
Restrooms were very clean and accessible for all abilities and ages. Current owners are doing an exceptional job planning their future.

We loved the cozy A Frame cabin with beautiful grounds! The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable night sleep with a pretty view. The air conditioner/heating unit was perfect for the space. The bathroom and shower were a short walk and incredibly clean. The campgrounds were peaceful and relaxing. Loved the kiosk store where we bought everything we needed for the fire pit. The cabin was missing a coffee pot, but Doug was quick to respond that they are being replaced. He went above and beyond for us by delivering a full pot of coffee to our doorstep in the morning, which was greatly appreciated. This was our first trip to Maine and we would definitely stay again!

We will surely come back to stay in this magnificent campground. We love that the it is well maintained. The A frame cabin that we stayed was big enough for two people. The room has a fridge, a kettle (with some coffee, tea and creamer) and an AC which was badly needed during the two muggy nights that we stayed. The 3 bathrooms and restrooms were clean and easily accessible. We also like that the distance between the cabins are far enough to maintain privacy. This place is such a gem and we look forward to our future glamping!

This was a great stop. We arrived at about 10:30 on Wednesday. Students are still in school, but we had this place mostly to ourselves.
We were so pleased with our experience here we are absolutely glad we did it. This is the perfect place to take your kids and help them blow off steam there's a playground area as well as plenty to do!
Tickets were 18 each. One thing that I absolutely loved was that they had strollers in wheelchairs that were able to be used for people who needed access to them. This ensures the park is available to everyone. Maps are available with ticket. There are also local events and shows to see.
We were pleased with our food that we ordered from The Oasis and would recommend the chips and of course Blueberry Soda!!

I’ve been coming to Freeport with my family for many years. And we always overplayed to stay at the boring old Hilton down the road from LLbean and it’s fine but when me and my girlfriend were looking for a more ago and fun option to stay up in Freeport for a few nights we stumbled across This campground. When we saw their beautiful cabins we knew we had to try it out. The nightly rate was really good for the quality of the cabin we got. And the staff is super nice and they are always checking in via email to make sure your stay is going well. After that first trip when we were planning our trip again this year we knew we had to go back this campground. This time we stayed in the larger cabin and it was really nice the atmosphere was amazing and this was honestly one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I have even gone as far as to recommend it to my family and friends and I have even started planning a trip for next year to stay again with my family. I plan on making this trip a regular trip and I want desert of Maine to be a part of it every time.

It's an interesting place. There is a journey in the desert with lots of information pertaining to how the desert came from. There are fun activities for the kiddos like gem village and dig site. There is a nice park with a wooden playground and there is a mini putt course. The train was out of order, which my kids were sad about, but it still was fun.

Great experience for kids. We spent all day there. Got there at noon. The train isnt that great because it doesn't give a tour announcement just goes in a big circle. No horn. No smoke.
Great little trails to hike and the fossil dig is awesome, gemstone village is great! We didn't get to do the storybook Trail or whatever it's called. We went to playground. Then we went to mini-golf by then it was 5p. It was expensive! We had 4 people 2 kids 2 adults ended up being $100. We did the combo desert and mini golf. There is also a great playground in the front and in gemstone village. I would not wear sandals unless you like sand in your feet. We wore hiking boots!

Super cute for little kids, we did a field trip with our homeschool co-op. We took a train ride, did the fossil dig, and gem find/ maze. Allagash Brewing Company, located in Portland, is a well-known Belgian-style beer producer that offers guided tours for visitors. The brewery features a taproom and gift shop that showcases rustic-industrial decor. Allagash has played a significant role in the craft beer movement in Portland and serves as an incubator for other breweries in the area. The brewery's flagship beer, Allagash White, has become popular across the country among IPA lovers.
Simply one of the iconic breweries in the American ethos. The venue is currently under renovations. But the all-outdoors setting works well to harness Maine's long spring season. As far as the beer, which they have plenty on tap (fresh), their Allagash White is the Alpha and the Omega. Any true beer lover will agree that this is a special place.

While in the Portland area we decided to make the specific effort to visit Allagash and were not disappointed! The space was large with tons of outdoor seating (didn't see indoor seating available) with multiple areas to grab a beer. The variety on tap was very impressive with plenty of options to choose from.
Food was available via food truck on site which was delicious, and the beers we got were all exceptional. The specialty bottles only available at the brewery were a treat as well.
Highly recommend!

Allagash white has been my all time favorite beer for many years now. It has been on my bucket list to visit their brewery for quite a while. We planned for Memorial Day of 2022 but Covid got in the way. We planned an end of summer road trip and I’m happy to say we made it up here in august. The brewery has been the nicest one we have been too. The grounds are awesome and thoughtfully laid out. Their on site food truck is amazing, as well as the selection of beers on tap. The people were so awesome (as are most of the people in Portland). Had a few brews…bought some swag and bud a fond farewell. Even my kids had a great time! So happy I was finally able to make the trip. It did not disappoint

If I could give this place 100/5 stars, I would. We went straight here after landing in Maine, the staff were so kind and let us store our small roller bags in the staff area while we were there. This was our favorite brewery of the many we tried during our week long Maine trip. The vibes were on point. The beer was exceptional. There was a food truck inside the outdoor area serving up delicious lobster rolls, pretzels, salads, chowder, and brats. We did not get to try any of the other breweries in the area but we were sure glad we picked this one as the experience overall was positive. They check i.d.'s upon entrance. There are many different options on where to stand and sit. There is a warm tented environment as well as a variety of seating arrangements from high tops to private feeling tables that can fit small groups. I would very easily come back here again.

We came all the way across the country to try Allagash in person. We enjoyed two of their beers, one of them was a limited time saison and the other was the sour with honey berries. We liked the various types of seating available. When we went, it was nice and quiet and enjoyed a simple lunch in one of the private booths. We wished there was more merchandise to choose from though.
Just a note to visitors that they stamp your hand after they check each person’s ID, which was kinda new for us and unexpected.

Another good stop on our vacation to Maine. Allagash is an afternoon visit for us, there are 2 other small breweries in the immediate walking area. It’s nice to have a few samples, sit down and have a beer. Enjoy some good food from the vendor outside and just enjoy the day. No dedicated women’s bathrooms, his/hers in a general area. Great place to stop in and have a brew from a great brewery.
Laid-back shopping destination featuring a variety of outlet stores, craft boutiques & eateries.

So I got to check out a bunch of jewelry and eventually we made our way to LL Bean outlet store.
The parking for this outlet is in the basement. There is a parking garage there that you can use for free and it has an elevator that will bring you right into the plaza. The plaza also has bathrooms.

Not a good variety of stores. Maybe if the town were willing to modernize, it's stores they would draw in better business. I see adjacent towns with much more foot traffic because they cater to all not just wealthy Freeport people. This place used to be worth peoples time now it's a ghost town. Also stop letting llbean control everything. They have gone way downhill.

So we visited in late May on a Thursday and so being slightly "off season" may impact your experience.
We stopped to visit a few outlet shops and had no issues before lunch finding free parking.
I did notice some store fronts for some outlets had been closed. It is probably due to the shift to online shopping during the pandemic. Some retailers are shifting where customers can find their best deals and selections.
As expected, Freeport is beautiful and clean and, as a friend, would say a nice place for some "retail therapy "

Maine Beer Company is a popular spot in Freeport, Maine, offering American-style ales in their tasting room with views into the production facility. The brewery also features craft pizza options, including the favorite Ebb Tide pizza with lamb, tomatoes, feta, and more. With a variety of beers on tap and a limited selection of food items like pizza and salads available, it's an excellent place to enjoy drinks and delicious bites.
Stopped in while visiting from Delaware. This was a bucket list visit stop and it lived up to expectations. Maine Beer Co. is a fairly simple place. They repeatedly have the same options which they focus on perfectly. The result is some truly excellent beer. They also focus on sustainability which is awesome. They have pizza available as well. If you are deciding what to get, Dinner, and Second Dinner are the best options in my opinion.

Decided to try out Maine Beer Company while in the area shopping and on the way to a few other breweries. The space inside was beautiful with tons of seating and food available on site as well.
In terms of beer, everything we tried was of course top notch, however I will say the variety could be improved. If you love IPAs and other similar brews, you'll love the options available. I will also say that if you're expecting a conventional brewery vibe, you will be surprised. The atmosphere was much closer to an airy upscale restaurant.
Fun time overall, likely wouldn't make a specific trip to visit again.

Very cool experience! The young, hipster crowd vibe was very evident, yet the music was classic 80s, making the place inclusive of a larger demographic. They even accommodated us without a reservation on a busy Sunday afternoon. Service was quick and friendly. Fire-grilled pizzas with avant guard toppings (as well as traditional) were excellent and if your spouse is a beer drinker but you're not, they do have wine and seltzer choices on the menu. Overall, a great outing!

A spot we had marked to visit for some time and Maine Beer Company did not disappoint. Really cool building with both indoor, outdoor, and outdoor covered seating. Dogs welcome in the outdoor and outdoor covered areas which was great! They even have dog bowls available for your 4 legged friend. Food was great, selections from salads, light brewery style apps, and pizzas. Recommend the new corn and chorizo pizza - 10/10. Beer is fantastic - not the cheapest beer but certainly for the beer aficionado that appreciates a good locally made beer. Will return. Reservations recommended!!
Side note - we visited towing a 35’ fifth wheel camper. Across from the brewery there is a park and ride where we were able to park and walk across the street. Do not recommend pulling into the brewery with a trailer.

Iconic. Absolutely worth going out of your way or making a special trip. The beers are SO CAREFULLY and lovingly made. I had a Pilsner that was bright, light and full of flavor with a the most crisp and clean finish. The pizza was delightful — crispy crust, well-made marinara, just-melted (and not gummy!) mozzarella, topped with fruity olive oil. Kid and dog friendly, and just PLEASANT. Large, cavernous space with lots of seating inside and lesser outside. A large artsy fountain (mettalic tree-bush?) completes the shopping mall food court vibe. They have a unique system here, you have to be seated by the host and they note your table number on the menu they give you.
Its self-serve counter service to order beer, food and if you want food you need to know your table number so they can bring it to you. Beer selections were adequate and the pizzas are tasty although pricey. A $12 12" cheese clocks in at 15+ somehow? If you just want a more chill beer session there is a first-come area in the upper, outside tent.

A bit of a hike outside of Portland , but we’ll worth the drive just to see one of the most stunning brewery taproom / restaurant you’ll visit on the east coast. However, for how large this operation is and for isolated local… I was expecting more options on the tap list (about six unique beers were available). Dress is casual to weekend formal.

During the summer of 2014 we made our first of many visits to Maine Beer Company. They had a small pizza oven in the front of their parking lot. Picnic tables were placed between it and the brewery. A small retail operation was located in their brewery. Peeper and their award winning Lunch were most popular. While “Doing what’s right”, and maintaining their values, the Maine Beer Company has expanded and grown into a premier brewery with a variety of excellent beers and knowledgeable employees. Excellent place to eat, drink and be merry. The beer was great; my party had one four-beer flight and one full beer and all were enjoyable. They serve wine and a variety of Maine sodas as well as offer free water stations. We only had a soft pretzel, which was delicious, and several parties around us had pizzas that looked really good.
The place was clean and well maintained. The first floor had bigger tables to accommodate larger groups. It was spacious and the right level of loud to bring kids in.
A huge bonus is their sustainability and climate-oriented approach. They have clearly marked compost and recycling bins alongside the trash. They also do not accept tips for the staff but you can donate your tip amount to the environmental non-profits.

I truly fell in love with this brewery. I've been to a couple of them and this one has been the most unique one by far. The pizza is exquisite, but we can't forget about the beer - balanced to perfection. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and there's awesome merch as well!

This place was recommended by a fellow brewery guest at another brewery and this did not disappoint! The ambiance of this brewery was like none we’ve ever experienced on the West Coast. Visiting this place just for the vibe alone is worth it. The food took quite a while to arrive from the moment we ordered (approx 30 min for 1 pizza) but it was really good! We had the pork and apple pizza which was unique for us but well balanced. The beer was good but not the best we’ve ever had. However, I’d still recommend this place for visitors to the area who enjoy beer. I’d also suggest eating on the second floor!

I’ve been eating here for a while and the pizza is always crazy good, the salads slap, and the beer is probably the best in Maine. Anyway, they had this mortadella sandwhich on the menu today and they knocked it out of the park. The perfect mix between spicy and savoy. They use a pizza dough for the bread too 🤯. Just when I thought this brewery couldn’t get any better, they deliver again!
Here’s a pic of what’s left after I ate the first HALF:

Had lunch (the pizza) and Dinner (the DIPA) and was 100 percent satisfied with both. The pizza and cheesy bread (more like a cheese pizza) are so delicious. The beer is fresh, tasty, and top notch.

Lovely tasting place for beer. Also have wine and local soft drinks. Has limited but delicious menu with pizza, salad and snacks with nice large pretzels.
Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park is a 200-acre natural haven located in Freeport, Maine. Donated to the town 50 years ago, it boasts woodland, estuary, and rocky coast landscapes. The park offers guided nature walks and is renowned for osprey-watching on Googins Island during the summer nesting season. Visitors can explore miles of trails, with the Casco Bay trail being a favorite due to its stunning ocean and island views.
Lots of easy trails that were great with a dog. Beautiful views of Casco Bay, overall a very peaceful place. Informative signs throughout with info on the history, wildlife, etc.

This was my first time visiting Wolfe's Neck Woods.
It is a very nice place with many different trails to choose from.
I hiked 2.5 miles around the shores
As you can see from the photos that I provided, It is quite beautiful.
It is Dog friendly as long as you take care of any deposits your pet might like to leave.
I talked with several people along the way who stated that it is one of their most favorite places to visit.
Yes! They do have facilities incase you were wondering.

Impeccably maintained family park with wheelchair friendly walking path, picnic area with grills, a mowed play field and breathtaking fresh and salt water views. Water access challenging to some less nimble older folk but I saw small children and adults of all ages traversing. Geology is fascinating if you're into it and the combination of river and ocean environments makes it a great nature walk. Dont miss nesting osprey just off shore. Pack up the kids and the charcoal and make a day for this exceptional place.

Wolfe's Neck State Park is fabulous! It's very easy to get to, the drive through the Freeport countryside is very scenic. I really like this park; it's a very relaxing walk through the woods. There are several tree varieties, and many different types of fungi as well. Some of the trees are quite large, and I hope others appreciate them as much as I do. There are paths down to the water's edge, where you can walk along the rocky shoreline. Plenty of people bring their dogs, and there are places along the trails to sit on wooden benches. There's a small island across from some benches that is home to an Osprey nest, where you can observe Ospreys when they are in the area. A few places on the trail have steps carved out of stones, but I wouldn't call the majority of the trails strenuous. It is a popular place to visit. I believe there is a public restroom, but I haven't used it so I'm not sure if it has plumbing or is a vault toilet.
Update: the restroom is plumbed, but I also saw an outhouse for use during the off-season.

Woodland and coastal trails though the park. So far I think this is a very best park from the Portland Maines area. Clams sells are near the campground area

This is one of our favorite places to get a nice walk through the woods as well as see and smell the ocean. Trails are great for hiking and there are quite a few stone stair-like areas and wooden bridges.

This is definitely worth a visit. It's a gorgeous drive to get there. Friendly ranger. Easy parking and restrooms. The hikes are short and extremely well marked, but there are maps too. We took a few trails and spent about an hour on the beach, exploring and climbing on the rocks.
Lisa Whelpley — Google review
Really nice, family-friendly park! The larger loop around allows several overlooks of the water and has stairs down to the shore where you can scamper over rocks and see an Osprey nest (in the summer). Trails are very well marked and flat, and if you do most of the trails you can hit approx. 4 miles. Looking forward to visiting this one each season!
Jenny McKee — Google review
Great park to hike through! Very family friendly and tons of great views of both the river and through the forest. Dog friendly on leash and trails are easy to navigate and clean! Highly reccomend for anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful hiking with great views. Not terribly challenging, so even our 4 year old could do it independently. Lots of choices for different routes. Can go right down to the beach and explore too.

Wow ! This is one of my favorite state parks so far ! Absolutely stunning views!
There are two relatively large parking areas. Lot 1 and lot 2.
There is a bathroom outhouse next to lot 2.
I did the North Loop, to White Pines Trail, to Casco Bay trail along the coastline and then did the full Harraseeket trail. I loved all portions. The Casco Bay views were fantastic.
None of the trails are difficult by any means. Mostly flat-ish trails with some winding paths here and there. There are also interactive signs describing the geology and the ecosystem in the area. Very informative.
Plenty of people with their dogs and their kids walking around so it is very friendly for these activities.
It was a beautiful mostly sunny day when I went and there weren’t many muddy areas. Just a few spots here and there.
There is also a large field by lot 2.
Picnic areas and picnic tables are scattered throughout.

Very beautiful place to catch a sunset. I visited with my family and we enjoyed the short handicapped accessible trail to get to two very nice look out points. I wish we had more time there but they close at 7:30. The water was nice to see and it was a good look at the rocky shores of Maine. It was quite there as well.

Even on a rainy and overcast day, this park is fantastic! The trails are well maintained and well marked. There is also a good amount of placards and scenic areas for photographs. It's also very close to downtown Freeport, so if you're new to the area there are many great restaurants and shops not too far away! Definitely don't pass up this park!

I really enjoyed this beautiful park. When you get down to the water there are so many beautiful places to admire. Whether it be from the ocean, the rock formation or the birds that take home to that area. The people were very friendly and many of them had dogs walking with them. It was a great park to go alone or with your family.

Went to walk with the dogs. Had a great time. Found a little beach off one of the little side trails and the pup got to swim and dry off on the walk back to the lot. Small entrance fee but it was free for Maine residents the day we went.
The Eastern Promenade in Portland is a notable road that provides access to a 68-acre public park with waterfront promenade, playgrounds, sports fields and picnic areas. The historic park offers stunning views of the city harbor and Casco Bay, making it an ideal location for walking, running or enjoying recreational activities such as tennis matches and beach days. The 2.
Beautiful view at sunset!

Great place, always draws a big crowd. Even today when the wind was biting cold. One can just imagine the history that has played at this location over the decades past. A fort, a lighthouse, several islands, an old bean factory all visible. Not mention the awe of the ocean. I’m going to keep this review going with repeat visits in the future.

The Portland Museum of Art, established in 1882, is an acclaimed museum that houses more than 18,000 fine and decorative art pieces dating back to the 1700s. Its collections feature American and European paintings along with other media such as pottery, furniture, and sculptures. The museum has a significant collection of works by renowned American artists like Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Andrew Wyeth, Louise Nevelson among others.
Beautiful art exhibits and plenty of room to walk around. There were places to sit all over, which was nice. The museum has restrooms in the basement level which was a little inconvenient but it was fine. A lovely clean museum, I enjoyed it. Only took a few hours to see everything so I didn't feel like I was missing out.

Four floors of 🎨 artwork you can approach and study. History cards are next to the paintings, vases, sculptures, antiques and other items. It gives you information ℹ️ not only about the art but a little insight to the artist as well. Monet, Picasso,Kandinsky and many other artists' artwork being accessible was thrilling!
I liked how the building was set up to use the lighting inside. The large windows added to my enjoyment because I could take a break and look out on the city 🏙️ and watch the activity. I wonder 🤔 how the inside would have looked on a bright 🌞 sunny ☀️ day?
There is a garden with artwork outside. A cafe with plenty of seating is available. The bathroom was in good condition. A gift shop with books 📚 on art 🎨 and an elevator 🛗 for the handicapped is also available. Security was constantly walking around.
I was limited on time to study everything due to the time I could purchase for parking 🅿️. Two hours is enough time to see 🙈 everything but not to read everything and watch the lectures on the flat screens.
I want to return in the spring 🌱 or early summer! I am recommending a visit to everyone!

Got in for free on a Friday which was great. I love this museum, while it’s not my favorite, I find it an enjoyable experience. A little short compared to what I’m used to, but it always has some interesting medium’s on display for its special exhibits. It is also a little bit to vertical and I wish it was more spaced out but that’s personal preference.

Portland museum of art is beautifully set with strong collections from classic to modern and a nice cafe which offers a yummy blueberry hand held pie. It’s not too big to enjoy in a few hours. Love the gay pride window too. Great way to spend a rainy few hours. Very worthwhile.

I came here with my family all the way from NYC. This is a pretty small art museum. You can finish browsing the entire place (4 floors) in 45-60 minutes. A few artworks have caught my eyes and got me staring. If you enjoy art a lot, check out this place. It's a nice spacious area but I wish there were more to see for the $15-18 entry fee.

Nice little art museum. Most of the work from artist who live/d in Maine. I visited mainly to see the Hommer works but enjoyed the modern video installation even more, how beautiful and meaningful. In the sculpture garden my favorite was a person made with cage and rocks, just brought a feeling of a person being held down by the weight of the world we are in.

This museum was a delight to visit! We had middling expectations and were blown away. It had a fantastic collection of compelling art. It was well designed and well laid out. It had helpful and personable staff. I cannot recommend this enough. My friend calls it fantastic and that it has zero problems. Also! They're working very hard to make it physically accessible. There's frequent seating as well as portable stools and seats. It has an elevator and a wheelchair lift for smaller stairs.

This museum happened to be free on the rainy Saturday we went in June. I really loved the powerful way the art, crafts & decorative objects were juxtaposed in each room of the permanent collection (Passages in Americn Art). The Elizabeth Columbo exhibition, Mythologies, was also wonderful!

This museum's Free Friday is the best venue around. Admittance is free in the afternoon for everyone. My girlfriend and I happened to visit while grad students from Julliard were giving a classical music presentation and performance. The music contributed greatly to the atmosphere of the museum. For this reason, I give the museum 5 stars.
As for the museum as a whole: everyone has different tastes in art, so I won't judge the museum purely on my own artistic preference. The museum features a wide variety of mediums and styles; there were plenty of pictures, abstract art, and impressionist/realist paintings--our favorites--situated in logical traffic lanes for easy viewing. Pleased to see some Homer, Degas, and Whistler in little old Portland, Maine. It was clean and well maintained. Great date night.
Josh M — Google review
For the price we expected it to be much bigger, I was surprised how small it was unless we missed half the museum.
It’s modern and clean and elevators to help you access other floors. But not the best museum I’ve been too, felt like they could do alot more with the space.
But it’s nice to spend 45-60 mins in

The Art Museum of Portland, Maine was a great experience in local and international art.
There were many Winslow Homer originals on display. There were many Winslow Homer originals on display. He was an American painter, best known for his marine subjects. He is considered one of the best American painters of the 19th century.
I was taken by the mastery of the paintings throughout my tour, and I snapped some close-ups to show the details.
There are also fantastic sculptures, models, and other various forms of art exhibited in different rooms.
If you are looking for a break, there is a café at the basement level that sells adult beverages and snacks with some limited seating.
If you are in Portland, ME and love art, make sure to put the Portland Museum of art on your itinerary.

It has a few great masterpieces that I really enjoyed. For my taste - a little too much of modern art. Would love to see more of older art (at least as temporary exhibits), photo exhibitions.
The German exhibit was excellent and intense. Recommend to visit at least once!
The Old Port is an enchanting historical area filled with brick buildings and cobblestone streets. You can find various clothing boutiques, gourmet food stores, and souvenir shops here. Additionally, it’s a popular destination for nightlife enthusiasts as bars, breweries, and cocktail lounges attract young crowds. The dining scene is lively too; you'll come across stylish New American restaurants serving up delicious food alongside traditional seafood spots by the waterfront.
The Morse-Libby House, also known as the Victoria Mansion, is a 19th-century Italian villa-style home located in Portland. It was built between 1858-60 by the renowned architect Henry Austin and served as a summer residence for Ruggles Sylvester Morse, a prominent New Orleans hotel tycoon.
What a beautiful museum and so wonderfully decorated for the Christmas season. The staff had so many interesting stories and information about the location, I cannot wait to see it again in the warmer months for a new view. I Highly recommend visiting the Victoria Mansion.

Victoria Mansion was an ideal visit for any lover of art and history. The Mansion has amazing architecture and extraordinary interiors with hand-painted walls. The Morse family owned the house and made a fortune operating luxury hotels, they were also very active participant in the slave economy. This Mansion holds alot of history and you get to experience that history first hand. The ticket prices were reasonable ( I recommend buying tickets online) and they had a guide in every room to explain all the details of that room. I highly recommend the tour, I highly recommend buying tickets online and mask are required.

A really fun experience exploring a piece of history that reflects 'The Gilded Age'. It is amazing to see the conservation work that has taken place over the years to restore what was at this property back to its height, from both restoring paintings and rooms from the soot and weather damage, as well as having pieces of original furniture return to the property and their original rooms. It was great to go during the winter season and see this year's Christmas displays in each room. I'd absolutely recommend a visit from all ages alike! Great for kids from 1 to 92, as the good old Christmas classic says.

This place is absolutely stunning. Especially during the holidays. It takes an hour or two to get through and as off 2021 only 2 stories are open. But that being said it's still so worth visiting. And it's affordable too.

If you enjoy history, art or visiting historical places, this is a must! It’s a beautiful piece of history and artwork and the ornate detail the original owner had is amazing. Very ahead of his time and extremely ostentatious.
Located right in downtown Portland. Parking is a bit limited, so arrive early to find a parking spot which is limited to street parking only. We visit on August 19, 2022 and had 3 adults in our party and adult tickets are $17. They still require you to wear a mask at this time, we did not have ours as most of Portland does not require them, but the mansion staff kindly provided us with some at the time we purchased our tickets.
We were the last group of the day. Our tour guide was very pleasant and informative. She guided through the house and answered every question we had. We did run into two other groups, which must’ve been groups that started before us since we were the last one for the day. Even though we were the last group to start, we finished our tour much earlier than the other two groups that started before us and were the same size as ours. Our tour was completed in about 30-35 minutes, which was fine but my party would have enjoyed being able to look at the rooms a bit more. My husband joked that we got the expedited tour. We were allowed to take photographs but we had to keep the flash off. Also, it was very important not to touch anything including doors. They were currently working on restoration in the foyer area. The time and extent of detail it takes to do that is just unfathomable to me and just makes you appreciate it that much more. Overall it was a wonderful time spent exploring.

What a wonderful old historic mansion in the heart of Portland, Maine. Staff was very informative. When I went it was quiet, there were only two tour groups and they were both small, so we all got to move about to see everything, it did not feel crowded. The only thing I could think of was 'guilded age' - every part of the home was so opulent.

I Love old homes! This house has wonderful character. They are in the process of revitalizing it, so it's a work in progress. I would have liked to hear more history of the home and previous owners. But, the craftsmanship of the hand painted wallpaper, plaster mouldings, and wood work were incredible. Several of the finishes in the house were very unique and different from anything I have seen. I absolutely loved the imported porcelain sinks and matching accessories!
The entrance fees were a little pricey, especially considering it was in various stages of revitalization.
I was surprised to find the cost significantly higher than the prices listed online and in the printed brochures.
This home is not handicap accessible. Only the first floor is available by elevator (it was broken), to see the upper floors you would be given an iPad to view the rooms. But, no discount for the handicapped ticket.
We were visiting from a cruise ship and decided to walk from the pier. The town and shops on the way were lovely. But, the walkways were not wheelchair friendly, so some of our group couldn't join us and had to return to the pier.

Such a nice place to visit! The house is breath taking from outside and inside. The tour guides are knowledgeable and really sweet to talk with. It definitely was worth the visit. The only thing I would like is if they gave us a couple minutes to take pictures individually or with our group at least on the stairs inside and right on the exit. Because the groups are small up to 8 people, ours was 5 a couple and 3 of us, so definitely had time for a couple quick pics. Unfortunately we didn’t have time for that at all but the rest of the tour was definitely worth it.

The Bath Freight Shed is an incredibly fascinating place to visit. One can explore and even ascend the vessel as it undergoes repairs, providing a unique opportunity for engagement. It is highly recommended to take a moment to stop by and demonstrate support for this remarkable endeavor. Moreover, during the winter months, there is a charming indoor market featuring local farmers' produce. The establishment itself boasts a rich and captivating past that adds to its allure.

The Maine Maritime Museum offers historical artifacts, demonstrations, and cruises that showcase the Kennebec River's shipbuilding tradition. The museum features paintings, models, and interactive exhibits that tell the story of seafaring over 400 years. Additionally, visitors can witness a working wooden-boat shipyard in the on-site Percy & Small Shipyard that is preserved by the museum. Outdoor exhibits related to shipbuilding require appropriate attire for viewing.
This was an amazing museum to see the history and documentation on Shipbuilding in Maine. Many model ships, lighthouse exhibit, engine works, plus you have all the original buildings that were used to plan, fabricate, and build ships. It was a real eye opener for lobster fishing is a dedicated building. As well as the had a remarkable painters exhibit, Arthur Beaumont. His watercolors are breathtaking. Allow plenty of time to explore as there is much to see and walk too. Strollers would be fine outdoors with ease. Wheelchairs if not motorized may have some difficulties in areas.

We did the museum tour, which I think is a good thing to do BEFORE going around and looking at the rest of the museum. It was helpful to start with an understanding of the history of the business and shipyard.
The preservation of the buildings all these years is remarkable, and kids should have plenty of entertainment during their visit.
There are lots of smaller indoor exhibits, like the lobstering exhibit that are interesting for learning about the modern fishing industries.

We should have gotten an earlier start…so much fabulousness to take in! We spent a little time inside the main building and then it was time to take the boat trip up the Kennebec past the Bath shipyard with two guides keeping us informed of the history of shipbuilding in Bath and pointing out what we were seeing around us…wonderfully done by these guides. After docking we did visit 2 of the original buildings on site and plan to return later in the week to continue taking in all the exhibits. It is a first class museum!

We were in Bath, ME in October. It was a side trip which my friend resisted. "Shipbuilding!?? Blah, Boring". However, I was driving so she literally "came along for the ride". Blah, boring couldn't be further from the truth.
Bath, ME had a very important role in building ships, perfecting design. There are over 20,000 items in this collection. You get an education in what's involved in building a ship. There are also Guided Tours, boat tour on the river, many demonstrations. Wooden shipbuilding is fundamental to this area of Maine. Maine has more to offer than just spectacular Parks, Lobster & Fall Colors. Bath offers another perspective on this stunning state.
Interesting town too with some great restaurants.

The Maine Maritime Museum is an amazing, unexpected pleasure and is definitely worth a stop on any trip to Bath. I'm guessing if you live in Bath, this is a must for anyone who has kids or loves boats as well. This is a nice sized campus with a main museum building with a bunch of exhibits and a bunch of other buildings which take you through the process of building a schooner. November of 2022 is free admission which was a very nice surprise, but even regular admission is worth the price (this is one of the few museums left on earth where kids up to high school age can actually get in free!) The staff is amazingly nice and knowledgeable. The location is basically perfect with a wonderful setting right on the river. This is a museum that is someplace I'll never forget and it is well worth a visit!

It is a perfect museum to visit if you are remotely interested in maritime history or that of Maine's. Great exhibits throughout the property that are engaging for visitors.

Excellent museum. Very informative, and situated right on the river. Some of exhibits on shipbuilding are outside so dress appropriately. In the parking lot there is a little building that has a film about Bath Iron Works. It's very cool and a must see.

We had an amazing experience on the Autumn Lights Cruise! We capstoned our honeymoon with this experience. We did book ahead of time, and we’re thankful we did as it appears to have been full. Although we did not partake, there were light snacks and refreshments (including coffee) available for purchase.
The crew were kind, friendly, and informative. They shared local history, landmarks (of course focusing on the river lighthouses), and wildlife. We feel very fortunate that we were able to see 2 eagles, countless seals, and many other waterfowl! The seals were so cute popping up and checking out what us tourists were doing! The fog rolled in and we were worried it would ruin our views but actually cast a really cool vantage point over the river!
This hopefully a helpful tip - our cruise docked and we left the museum around 5:45 so we just recommend accounting for a little leeway around the 5:30 end of cruise if you’re making dinner reservations. We didn’t have dinner booked until 7:20 so we weren’t in a rush!
We talked about doing another tour with them on subsequent trips to Maine! Thank you so much!

This was the BEST! The museum is wonderful, hands on and interactive. Great for ages 2-102! The outdoor displays, buildings and cruise were incredibly fun and educational! Can't wait to go back!

Very interesting. The downside was that, despite opening at 9:30am, there were a number of things not yet open (or operational), like the Donnell house (opened at 11am) and many of the video monitors.

The Maine Maritime Museum was so much more than I expected. There are 6 working buildings on 3 or 4 acres that are in daily use building, restoring and displaying historical boats. Includes a blacksmith shop, sail loft, carpentry shop, boat displays the list goes on. The main museum is an incredible display of maritime history, historical pictures, ship parts, maritime stories, maritime trailblazers and the building and use of ships for centuries. You don't have to love ships to love this museum. A ticket allows 2 days to see everything... and you'll need it.. AND there are cruises that show the Kenebec River and historical points of interest.

Super friendly, super knowledgeable folks cruising you along the Kennebec River showing off lighthouses, wildlife (bald eagles) and the Bath Iron Works. Very cool museum as well. Recommended during a visit to Bath.

This museum is a gem for adults and children, would recommend visiting when out buildings are open for touring.

A must-see on the Maine coast. The main building has thoughtful, informative exhibits, well-placed to make the most of a small-medium space. It's artful as well, with rotating displays. The curators are obviously talented. There are also a half dozen out buildings with lots of info about shipyard functions, a 2-story Lobsterman museum, and even a playground. The two best parts are the full size minimalist statue of the tall ship, Wyoming (be sure to take the free tour or listen to it on an app), and the boat tour of the harbor (extra $$, but worth it). Use the very clean bathrooms or have some refreshments on the on-premesis food and snack shack. A nice way to spend an informative and delightful short afternoon. Plenty of parking. Gift shop is very good.
