It's always a good plan to visit this place, love the weather and the view 👌🏻😁⛰🍃

Beautiful hike, we caught a bit of rain and it was refreshing! I would recommend proper shoes to hike in. We had our baby so we didn't do the Cruz trail, the other two we went on were easy hikes. Very relaxing!
Valerie Delgado Bosso — Google review
The walk to the cross is quite tough, it is very steep in some places. The path was dry when I was there, but it can be muddy, so it is advisable to go, when there hasn't been too much rain.
Markus — Google review
Excellent place with beautiful views to take pictures. Would be good if someone open any restaurant nearby, if you go there you will be on your own and your map, there is no signals in the road, you need go and explore or take a guided tour.
Marilou Ibasan — Google review
Nice views from the top of the mountain. But we didn't find the other trails, and the maps we saw were very confusing. Not sure you can actually hike anywhere or not.
Renz Calma — Google review
Loved it!! It’s a very nice place to visit. The views are great. I didn’t do any hiking because the hiking to the Cruz looked very high. The areas are kept clean and is a great to drive by and enjoy! There are cabins to rent!

Beautiful place for hiking..good temperature and astonishing views

Campana A Le Cruz is a challenging hike through a well trod jungle using ropes and rails. Awesome views of the Panama Rivierra.
Vickie Bohaychuk — Google review
Spectacular views of the Chame bay. Some of the oldest mountains in Panama. Lots of birds. There are some easy trails to walk. Others are more challenging, like La cruz trail.
Victor Alvarado TORVIC — Google review
Very nice views, beautiful vegetation. Its a wild adventure if you go and it starts to rain. BUT there were not good signals of the trails. And the administration building can't be easily recognized. Maybe if we had their guide, we would have made it to Cerro La Cruz. I recommend going early, before noon, so you can take your time and enjoy more. If you follow the trails, I think there's no risk of getting lost.
Marisel — Google review
So refreshing up there and great views. Did not do a home as we for there late in the afternoon. Got to see a monkey being chased out of a tree by birds
Darcey Kaspick — Google review
Nice views and weather.... Many plants .. good prices... Also.. sancocho de gallina de patio..at La Montañita... Delicioso....
A moderate hiking trail perfect for families that costs $4 per person. Took my parents in their early 70s and some of the trail was challenging for them, but we grabbed a walking stick and helped them out. Most people would have no issues. The climate is lovely and lots too see. The water is crystal clear and easy to access. A great place to support.
Matthew Rogers — Google review
Really enjoyed this easy 30 minute walk through the forest. Saw many butterflies, lizards and trees on our walk. Heard many birds and frog. Pay the entrance fee in EVACC.
Wendi F — Google review
This nature hike was spectacular!! We took our parents who are in thier 70's & they were able to do the hike. Slightly concerned they would have difficulty, but it was okay. The view and walk was so lovely and its a great hike for families. We saw loads of mushrooms & flora.
Brandy Brown — Google review
We saw one sloth.
The walk was fairly easy and beautiful.
We had a random dog that did the trail with us, we thought it was so cute that he waited for us
Joelle Dubuc — Google review
Check out the last golden frogs before walking the trail! Lots of beautiful vegetation and rushing water on the way to a few square trees in a beautiful clearing. Easy walk with kids!
Laurel Showstack — Google review
It’s a very easy trail! It says 40 minutes but you can do it in 25 🤣
I thought the Rana Dorada was going to be there but they are displayed. However, there was an interview going on after our hike so we couldn’t see the frog🫠. There is an entrance fee and you do the walk alone. Valle has a rainy weather so just take a rain jacket or extra shirt just in case you get wet during the hike.
M. C — Google review
This was a lovely walk through the rain forest , saw birds , ants, butterflies and bugs which was awesome, I'm recovering from a broken ankle and managed to walk it ok, take water ...
Raymond Bennett — Google review
Easy trail for kids and elders. There was a dog that accompied us, acting as our guide. He was very sweet and really kept us on track although the trail is well marked.
Gerrie Dean — Google review
This was a lovely hike. Short and easier than many others in the area. And you can see the local golden frog exhibit.
Alannah Arnold Brown — Google review
Beautiful location. Nice easy walk in mainly shaded area. We saw lots of wildlife including sloths and squirrels. The golden frogs and other species that are on display in the small museum are really interesting and a friendly member of staff talked to us about each one. This is part of a research and breeding programme as most of those you can see are critically endangered. Well worth a visit and the small entry fee. Takes about 45 minutes to walk here from the middle of town or about 20 minutes from the Golden Frog Inn where we stayed.
Robert Lester — Google review
Nice and easy trail in the shadows, quite short and not very spectacular, but it was a nice half an hour walk. If you are lucky - you can see sloths.
Too short for the price though, but it's more like a "donation", so I don't mind.
Eugene Trufanov — Google review
This is an easy hike that could be completed at a leisurely pace in between 30 and 45 minutes. But it's pleasant enough that we easily dragged it out to an hour as we sought sloths. We didn't see any but know others who have. There's a deck with views of the surrounding hills toward the end of the trail that would make a nice place for a picnic. While an easy hike, it is not wheelchair accessible.

white cabin with the frogs, El Hato. On property of the Hotel Campestre Behind the swimming pool of the Hotel Campestre, Anton Valley, Panama
Endangered frogs are the star attraction at this zoo, also home to coyotes, jaguars & exotic birds.
I have been coming here for n9re than 8 years and it is great every single time. A must go in El Valle.
Darren Bell — Google review
Decent zoo with some variety of animals. We expected to see some “exotic” animals, but were disappointed by the experience and only spent about 10-15 minutes inside. Animals were kept in relatively small cages and didn’t seem to be taken care of that well.
Bracha Rosenberg — Google review
it was full of trees and nature which I loved but I was missing more exotic animals like monkeys and other's and not almost only birds, they moved the location of the yellow frog so this exhibit is no longer available, in general i had a lot of fun and i will recommend to go if you are zoo lovers like I am.
Lital M — Google review
The habitats are old but the animals are in great condition. The layout is larger than I expected, wear your walking shoes! All this place needs are signs on the plants and it would be a botanical garden too!
l laycock — Google review
Nice atmosphere to wander around on a Sunday but a bit depressing, some cages better than others. Why are the toucans' cages so small? And the pigs? Amphibian exhibition has moved to the Smithsonian in Panama, which is excellent. Worth going for a picnic in the shady trees and some people watching.
Lizzie Sherwood-Smith — Google review
A farm style Zoo, something very unique with beautiful nature! And very affordable.
ag. aliss — Google review
This zoological garden is embedded in a wonderful mountainous landscape. The animals usually have a sufficiently large enclosure. The facility is very well maintained and always worth a visit.
Villa Zabler — Google review
Great location to pass good time with animals. I loved to go there again. A lot of animals to see and a great montain to discover. Good place for all the family.
Olivier Lalande — Google review
We was in the morning and the weather was good for walking and seeing the animals. The price for entrance was 18$ 2 adults and 2 kids. The staff feed the animals at the time wa was there. Also they have plants for sale. We like to walk and see the animals not soo many species to see but nice to visit.
Janina S — Google review
There are a lot of animals in this zoo, but it’s mostly birds. The zoo needs better signs for each station. Also the birds seemed thirsty and dirty, I recommend placing a water system that allows the birds to drink water whenever and play in the water too.
Crystal Veno — Google review
Entrance fee for nationals was $4 and for tourists $6. There is parking place just in front of it. It's a decent zoo with some variety of animals. You have to adjust your expectations though because you will be mostly seeing different types of birds and other feather friends. Just a few 'exotic' animals which is a disappointment, having in mind the rich fauna of Panama with so many species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians. The farm-style of the zoo is a positive thing. The poor maintenance is not. Half of the signs with the names of the animals is barely visible. Animals seem hungry and the guard feeding them seemed even more hungry. Seems like the fee money is going somewhere else because it's definitely not going into the zoo maintenance or the employees.
Danieloncarevic — Google review
Nice place to walk around, many people take pictures because of the landscaping. Sad to see animals in cages.
Claudia Rodriguez — Google review
Terrible place! All animals have very small cells! The signs on animals and birds are very bad; the name of many is barely visible. At the same time, the zoo charges a fee for children aged 1 year, but they cannot make a normal path for a baby stroller. As with anything else, walking here can break all your legs!
7 dollars each for foreigners, 3 for under 12. So amazing butterflies, I would say about 12 or more different species, but the quality of the butterflies is huge, so it's so charming for taking videos. Employees are so friendly and kind. They held an umbrella for us to walk to our car when we are leaving and it was raining. Very appreciated.
Hymer Lin — Google review
Cool place, you will see many butterfly species (15-20), the area is quite small, but they also explain the whole life of butterfly from egg to caterpillar to butterfly. Entrance is $7. It is close to city centre, if you have a spare hour in your schedule, this place will fill in your space.
V?clav Pavl?k — Google review
Our family had a great time here. Incredible butterflies and educational. Staff really put in the effort of showing the butterflies and identifying them.
Scott H — Google review
Great place to visit. The staff and your was superb. They really love their butterflies and take good care of them. Was like a family experience to go around the farm and learn from the owner. I highly recommend this visit.
Errol Robateau — Google review
We also went to Butterfly Haven 🦋 This little place are actually heaven for this beautiful species. That was a wonderful experience to have them so close to us and we get to see their beautiful shapes and colors.
We learn a lot about this local species, how they survive from predators and their metamorphosis.
The keepers are very knowledgeable even though some of them have no college education at all. The place is run by these biologists, lovers of butterflies and insects.
I loved the fact that they transmitted their knowledge to their helpers.
That was very impressive.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
GoGoTaxi OfSanford — Google review
If you like 🦋 Butterflies Haven is the place for you. I loved the visit so much. You can enter the casa butterfly and all the butterflies flying freely around and you can spot and discover the different typs. Was so fun - just do it and thank me laters.
Nathalie Reichmuth — Google review
I’ve never been around so many butterflies. The staff was friendly and explained a little bit about each butterfly and their process. It is small and in our opinion a bit expensive for what you get. But I would recommend it
Sara Frank — Google review
It was pouring down rain for our visit BUT all of the staff were very friendly and hospitable. The one girl who showed us around told us that her English wasn't the strongest, however, she explained things very well about the caterpillars/ butterflies presented. There was a nice variety of butterflies that were seen, some even landed on my friends. It's a small space and due to the rain, our feet did get a little wet but if you wear the proper shoes it won't be an issue.
Brea O. — Google review
Definitely worth a visit! The price is relatively high for the area at $7 (for foreigners). There are so many butterflies. And the staff is knowledgeable.
Ino Haasbroek — Google review
It's called Butterfly Haven, as it is a safe haven for these animals, but it wouldn't be wrong to call it Butterfly hEaven, as it is heaven for butterfly lovers and anyone curious to see the beautiful animals up close. The entrance fee is 5 to 7 dollars per adults, depending on your residency, and includes a tour of 10-15 minutes with one of the guides. You can skip it, if you so wish, but you'd be missing out, as it is very informative about the different species of butterfly and they point out small things you wouldn't be able to see on your own, like butterfly eggs laid on leaves. There are over one thousand butterflies in two separate spaces, so that they can separate the ones that wouldn't "go along" with the others and safeguard also old and weaker butterflies. All can feast on sugar water and sliced mature tropical fruits, which are vey rich in sugar and which the butterflies love especially when they are starting to go and ferment. It is also a rather unique possibility of taking pictures of butterflies from so up close, be it with a camera or even with your smartphone. Highly recommended.
Niccolo' Bertoldi — Google review
Nice place with hundreds of butterflies all around you. The guide tells you a little about the different species of butterfly and also lets you touch the caterpillars at the end.
A bit pricey ($7 for foreigners) for entrance when the whole thing takes about 30 min to get through.
estelle vonk — Google review
Nice experience. Small place but big enough to garner appreciation for the butterflies. Good, friendly staff. Worth the price of admission.
Jeff Redford — Google review
Great place to visit in El Valle, run by enthusiasts and professionals. Hundreds of butterflies to see, variety of species. Don’t miss the place, definetely worth seeing all the butterfly beauty!
Martina Gregorek — Google review
Great quick stop to experience something different, many species of butterflies and a quick lesson on their life cycle. You get to see also how they raise them in this environment.
Entry price around $5 per person (not to high, but it supports their work)
Rolo G — Google review
So fun and worth the money! A well setup experience and lots of butterflies!
Jonathan Cybulski — Google review
Came in May 2023 with my sis. We had a lovely time. The young lady helping us, stayed with us for a good 15 minutes, explaining the different stages of the butterflies, the type of butterflies available here and the difference between each of them.
Very informative, and friendly staff. The owner showed me some plants and even send me off with a piece of a species I did not know I needed. 🥰

C. la Planta 14, Anton Valley, Coclé Province, Panama
I went to the Valle de Antón with my brother and his family and we stopped by the Serpentario Maravillas Tropicales.
They help wounded animals and then take them back to the wild. But some of them get to stay for the survival issues.
We learn a lot about some local species.
I never held a snake in my hand until this trip…
I met Lola, the Boa constrictor.
Her history makes me so sad and I get to appreciate a beautiful specimen.
Her owner got married and her husband made her give Lola up because it was him or Lola. Jirk!
Luckily she took her to this great little place and that's her new home. She was so soft and meek 🐍
GoGoTaxi OfSanford — Google review
The meeting was very informative; a guide accompanied us throughout the tour. The tour was conducted in Spanish, but our guide spoke slowly and ensured that we understood everything he said since we are not perfectly bilingual. He knew all the animals very well and answered all our questions accurately. The animals were very beautiful, and my favorite was the little monkey. There was nobody else but us, and we had a great time. Worth visiting.
Emile Rondeau — Google review
Place charges non nationals $4.50 per person. We were only there 10 minutes as it appeared half closed as there was building work ongoing and there was very little to see. Very little information was displayed about the animals and so we didn't know whether any of the animals were due to be released into the wild or not. We were not offered a guide.
Jane Hughes — Google review
Although this is a locally run capture and release facility which is highly appreciate some of the cages, especially the one for the birds are way too small.
I think you need to talk Spanish to truly appreciate the work of the caretakers!
Variety of snakes that are on exhibit are very interesting.
Panos Karagiannis — Google review
Doing good things for snakes and turtle rescue.
But....
Not kind or humane to the mammals (shockingly horrible maintenance for the rabbits) and the birds. Disappointing.
Cleaning cages and throwing some greens doesn't cost anything. You need to better stewards of the caged animals.
Sue Saarks — Google review
This place is an interesting experience if you speak Spanish fluently. If not, don't bother going. You'll see a couple of animals in cages which are way too small and dirty. Only the snakes have signs. The saddest part were the rabbits in extremely filthy conditions.
Heike Edam — Google review
This is a very loveless place, the hold rabbits on iron grid, they have no space. It is really bad. Everything is dirty and they don't care of the animals. The price for foreign
people is 4.50 for adults.
Peter Lentner — Google review
This is a wild animal refuge. They have a bunch of snakes some of which are not native to Panama but are gifts as the guide says.
You get a guide that explains all in Spanish with very little English available.
All in all it is a nice little zoo to visit and worth the walk from the center of El Valle
Martijn van Manen — Google review
The snakes we're nice to see.
But they also have small animals in small cages. Which i didn't expect and didn't like
Joelle Dubuc — Google review
Very small but worth the visit. Love the option to touch some of the animals. It is interesting that they only capture and release. If they aren’t able to release they find the animals new home.
Of course it is all a non profit organization so donations are appreciated.
Reyna Alfaro-Joya — Google review
We had so much fun here! It is super worth the trip. I think you may need to bring a Spanish speaker with you to understand the tour, but maybe they have an English speaker there that we didn't meet.
Jesse Aughenbaugh — Google review
The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to answer every question my sons asked. He was very patient and gave them all the information they desired. They even allowed us to hold one of the pythons. This place focuses on rehabilitation and rereleasing animals, which makes it unique from visiting a zoo.

JV2M+JXW, El Valle de Antón, Provincia de Coclé, Panama
If you're the least bit interested in orchids, plants endemic to Panama, or conserving species that are threatened or endangered, you will find this place beautiful and informative. The tour took about half an hour and cost $1 for Panamanian children, $2 for Panamanian adults, and $3 for foreigners (sorry, I don't know if foreign kids cost $1 or $3).
February is not the best time to see lavish displays of orchids - the wet season is best for that - but there were plenty of plants in bloom, some truly unique.
Rod T. — Google review
Nice guided tour just for me, 3USD.
No crowds.
Possible to buy orchids from species they have lots from. Good alternative to illegal collections from the market.
Holger Krauße — Google review
Cute initiative. Sadly there weren’t much orchids blossoming when we were there but we enjoyed our tour
A.E. Schipaanboord — Google review
Fascinating, small orchid garden run by a woman who knows a lot and is happy to speak slowly for mediocre Spanish speakers. Well worth a stop, though it’s hard to find initially.
Jeremiah P-W — Google review
Awesome! The lady working walked us through the garden which was great for extra information.
Ino Haasbroek — Google review
Amazing place. A hidden gem. So much variety of orchids. Around 300 species. Entrance only cost $2. The care takers of this place are very nice.
Nghiem Pham — Google review
Lovely woman who is very knowledgeable about orchids. People complain that the orchids were not in bloom when they visited, that’s not under her control. If you know anything about plants you’ll love this place, well worth the $3.
haggeo romero — Google review
It had tons of different orchids but they all flower at different times. We had a nice guide who explained everything to us. Hard to find
We really enjoyed getting 'muddied up' with very black mineral rich facials and then soaking in thermal pools that apparently contain over 40 different minerals.
Only $8, which was very doable. And we actually walked there from the center of El Valle.
Brian Spain — Google review
The perfect place to relax, rest, disconnect from everyday life. The water is not hot - just warm. But enough to be relieved. There are only two swimming pools and a foot soak bath. Everyone also gets a small mud container for a skin treatment. It's worth it!
Pawel Cieckiewicz — Google review
It's tranquil and the staff members are pleasant. However, the water isn't as warm as I would have liked but it was still nice. I really enjoyed the tuning fork massage.
Michelle Carter — Google review
So relaxing! I felt the effects of the mineral water. While the water is warm, not hot, there are certainly benefits from soaking. The grounds are spacious with huge trees, birds, many plants. It’s down the street from where I live, so I will definitely be going back.
Patty Blue Hayes — Google review
They are open! It is $7 for adults. I wish they had mud pools, but they do give you enough to put on your face!
Angela — Google review
Avoid at all costs. Unless you are fond of lukewarm water brimming with pipe rust. In that case, make sure to also ask for the mud bath, so they can give you a ketchup cup with some mud to spread on your face
Richard Ayudant — Google review
The forest surroundings are very relaxing and beautiful. The mud was fun (included). The pools were small, old, and only luke warm. The minerals gave a brown tint when we were there.
Melani Babi — Google review
NO HOT WATER. We were dooped. It's not worth it. The water is tap water temperature. And the place looks run down. Mildew is growing everywhere. There are tons of leaves that need to be raked. Walked in and walked out without ever taking a dip or using the mud mask. The people in charge need to use the money they collect and clean up the place. The railings of the bridge are broken, and color is chipping. It's a great idea, but poorly executed. $24 for three people to just walk in and walk out. Very disappointed. Two thumbs down.
Rachel Bradley — Google review
The basins are a bit dirty but after 45 min, you feel relaxed.
The entry fee is 8$ and you receive face mud and restaurant discounts of 10%.
Iulia Grecu — Google review
It's a very rustic and basic place. It's smaller than you think. Perhaps my tastes are a bit fancier. The foot thermal spring is cold water, which is refreshing, I suppose, but not thermal. The water is murky in all the pools. The staff are very nice and friendly however.
Chris — Google review
Super fun! I think maybe 7 bucks to get in but make sure to check out the 2 "giant cups" on property. The visit will be what you make it, it's not the Palms Resort but it's fun for the money and the people are very kind.
John G (Johnny Quest) — Google review
Don’t get sucked in! The pretty pictures they show at the gate are nothing like inside. They are brochure lies. The pools are very small. One is basically a bathtub size. The “thermal” water are not warm. Imagine going into a dirty looking, lukewarm pool that’s slightly larger than a bathtub and you’ll get the idea of what this place is like. And if you pay and decide it’s not what you wanted, forget about getting your money back even if you did nothing other than look around. They only want to scam you for your money. Avoid this place. $7 per person may not seem like a lot. You couldn’t pay me to back there.

It would be nice if ANAM continued to improve and implement other types of initiatives such as recycling, stories for children with bonfires, tours, among others. It is a beautiful place with a lot of potential.

The place has a cool temperature that probably drops a couple of degrees at night and in the surrounding area (where ANAM is) you can find a river and waterfalls.
Excellent to go with the family.
In the artificial lagoon area it is quite rustic. bathrooms can be found on the ANAM side

Small beautiful beach that contains a popular restaurant with small hotel in the form of cabins. This is ideal for people who want to enjoy a beach with the option of food and huts with seats and tables directly on the sand.
It is not a secluded beach devoid of life. Along your walk on the sand you will pass by the restaurant, huts and modern residences.
One of the best things you can do is stay overnight in one of the cabins. They are directly on the sand. The hotel has security guards at night. That could explain why my night time walks have felt safe even when wondering into the dark areas of the beach.
All my times here have been very pleasant without any incidences. Most of the visitors are families and not rowdy teenagers.
The parking lots are part of the restaurant. But don't feel obligated to buy anything there. Simply walk through the facilities and onto the sand.
Panama George — Google review
Beautiful beach, warm water, uncrowded on a Wednesday. Nearby restaurants have huts (ranchos) you can rent for the day. The drive from Panama City is long, but a straight smooth shot on the Pan American highway. Worth a day trip.

Beautiful, clean beach. The water was clear even with a strong riptide, which they say usually only happens once a year. It was empty on a Monday. We were not charged to enter or park. We did tip the “bien cuidado” on the way out.

We stayed at a nearby resort hotel. But Santa Clara beach is small quiet, with white sand, and the simple amenities such as showers, washrooms and hatched roof huts.
No loud music .... just the tranquil sound of waves on the beach. There is also a great seafood restaurant nearby.
Only challenge is you need to drive there.

Michael Nash — Google review
Course has nice layout. Greens could use a little work. Golf carts need updating. Overall nice course.
Scott Rabine — Google review
This course is maintained in decent conditions throughout the year. It is very dry during the "summer" months, which means more roll that brings the many OB and hazards into play if you are not accurate. The greens roll firm but well - keep that in mind with approach shots as they will release a bit if your shots are not descending into the green at a steep enough angle.
A challenging but entertaining layout nestled in the Costa Blanca residential development. One of the better courses in the country
Anthony McKenzie — Google review
Great golf course. Didn't bring my clubs during this trip, but most definitely should have. I could have played this course every day. Well worth the money and to rent clubs was only something like $10.. and they were Taylormades.. so not too shabby.
Great course, and I can't wait to play it again.

389 year old colonial church in a mountain village. Wonderful interior with baroque details and raised pulpit not seen in most of the churches.
Quiet and non touristy environment allows for slow and relaxed visit that can be completed by local visit to nearby waterfall and cheese shops nearby.

(Translated by Google) Hotel is nice, they must work on staff, in the room the balcony door had a defect due to lack of maintenance, it rained and the water began to get in, we had to use the towels, requested extra towels and they never arrived.
There is no hot water
At breakfast, it was requested that the toast be replaced by puff pastry, there was no puff pastry, well, an omelette and carimañola were requested and that they be charged extra if necessary.... with what did the breakfast come? With cold toast .... and on top of that it became an argument with the staff ... in the end we ended up going out to buy breakfast elsewhere.

This is my 3rd time staying here and this Hotel is definitely not what it used to be. They use to have a great selection during breakfast since it was "buffet style", now they serve you and there's not much to choose from. I asked one of the servers why was that and her response was because "Covid" even though we went in June 2022! The bar only had one person working who didn't seem very motivated or happy. Rosita the lady at the front desk was absolutely helpful and speaks great English so if you don't speak spanish no worries Rosita will definitely assist. The food at the restaurant is not good, there are many other restaurants in Chitre to choose from. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds so I guess there's that.

Awesome reef sand beach with well taken care environment. No alcohol is allowed in the island and there are no restrooms. So pack your fruit, snacks, water and snorkeling gear. Also extra sunblock lotion for the twice as aggressive sun reflection because of the type of sand. Passport or cedula registration is required to board a boat and enter the island.

Amazing place. We saw about 20 different fishes and a sea turtle in just 20min of snorkling in front of the beach, then iguanas, pelicans, fragatas, big sea snails and lizards walking in the island. There was enough area with shade for all visitors in the island and toilets. Each trip to the island is registered by the inmigration and port authorities, so very well controlled. We will come back for sure!
Lucía Fernández Montoya — Google review
Clear water. Perfect for snorkeling. The animals are amazing, birds, iguanas and hermit crabs everywhere. You can also do whale watching between the months of August and December.
Just spent six weeks at the Sport Club. Totally delighted. Stayed in the one bedroom apartment. Accommodations were excellent for two or three people.
Breakfast is served every morning from 7:30 to 10:30. Variety on the menu.
Staff is extremely pleasant and very hard-working. Pool is kept impeccable. Terrific common kitchen for those staying in rooms. Spacious property with many fruit trees.
Was everything absolutely perfect during the six weeks? No. But letting the management know what they may not know is the key. The little things that went wrong were fixed immediately.
As for electric outages, that is town wide. Not a reflection on the hotel. They even keep a generator to keep the water running during those times. Internet was very reliable. In fact, a colleague taught her online virtual class twice a week.
Pet friendly and kid friendly. It might be a little noisy around the pool on weekend nights, but those who like to stay up and enjoy it certainly can. That’s what vacations are for!
I think I saw a little cross-section of everything over the six weeks I was there. I would highly recommend.
Yessy, the manager is excellent and very accessible. Can’t ask for much more.
Susan Eckstein — Google review
The place is clean and this is the most important thing. There is a nice pool to....
The room was very very basic...mot even a desk to put a laptop on. The mats were terribly uncomfortable and breakfasts need to be improved. The pancakes were ok but the eggs weren't cooked enough. The price 85$ is not a good price for what you get.
Dikla Navon — Google review
Went for breakfast only in their restaurant, and it was not the best esxperience. The cooking lady did her best to serve me within her reach, but the management needs to improve the service. In more details:
1.they boast to have the best coffee, while I was served normal coffee from a filter machine. I was tasting more milk than coffee.
2. There were 4 options for breakfast which all included omelette or other animal protein. There was no healthy options for vegan/vegetarian. (There was no yogurt, granola with fruits, which I would recommend as a standard option on the menu, and if you want to be really prepared have plant based milk and yogurt, and Tofu based breakfast)
3. Right next to the restaurant is the pool. The pool had a strong green colour and the lady in charge was at that moment checking on the quality of the water and kept rechecking. But that wouldnt assure the guests or me to use that pool and get infected by some strange bacteria. (To the owner: its better to have the pool empty if you can't make sure to have crystal clear and clean water in the pool)
4. The whole place, cabins, roofs, fences, fans, needs maintenance ad they show to have been unattended for a long period of time. Signs of mold on roof, cracked wooden doors, chipped colour from fences, stairs, floors, pool, ceiling fans( bone of them were turned on, insects were all over me, had to specifically ask the lady to turn them on)
All in all the owner needs to get back from his long vacation/ absence and get this place in shape before the season starts in october/november 19

Stephen Macneil — Google review
Overpriced, overrated, outdated - a big disappointment on almost every level. Rooms are spacious but ugly, without amenities (not even a single soap!).
But the main problem, by far, is the cleanliness, or rather the lack of thereof.
Hotel is simply rundown. Water in the swimming pool is almost greener then surrounding vegetation, bathroom (at least mine) had fungus under shower, and hairs in washbasin, and bad linen were so creased and stained that, frankly, I am not sure at all if they were changed after previous guest.
All this is rather sad, because hotel’s infrastructure and location are great. But it visibly and drastically lacks maintenance.
On the brighter side - breakfast was decent with tasty omelette (although toasted bread with margarine instead of butter is a big NO!) and good coffee. And all staff was kind and smiling!

I had a great surf experience with these dudes. I was able to rent various surfboards (short board, long board and a fun shape). They also had a great breakfast. The açaí bowl was delicious. Every morning I was greeted with a smile from the surf dojo crew. Thanks for having me!

Surf Dojo camp was amazing for our kids. They loved it, safety was always present, the kids learned so much and had the best time. We will be back as many times as possible.

The BEST place to learn how to surf or improve your skills. Jacobo is dedicated, super experienced and committed to bring you to the next level. As a beginner myself, he picked up on my faults, broke them down and started al over again with proper technique… it is surf coaching, not surf lessons. 100% recommended

We only came here for breakfast. So, this is not a reflection of their surf lessons which may be great. But, as for food, we ordered a croissant and coffee. The croissant turned out to be covered in mold. They served about 3 ounces of coffee for $4. Didn't even fill half of the glass. Again, probably a great place for surf lessons, but if you're just looking for breakfast in Playa Venao, look elsewhere.

Carmelo is hands down the best teacher on the beach ! This place is magical, especially with families and friends. The equipment they use is top noch ! Definitely my favourite place on the whole beach !
Long white-sand beach, a popular surf break, lined with laid-back resorts & restaurants.
Super nice beach! Great surfing. The local surfers are typical local surfers. They’re not gonna let you paddle out and just get a wave. You will have to hold your own. The beach is nice and the people are friendly. Worth the trip.

Going to Playa Venao is a no failure trip. Beautiful beach with kilometers to walk, great waves to surf, and the sunsets are just out of this world. The only thing is that youre gonna have to be ready to spend a lot of money. Hostel and food are super expensive. And the little shops around are too. I would go again but I would find a lower season to go. Maybe take advantage of the communal kitchen on some hostels. IG: harry_quinn_

It’s one of my favorite place in the area. There’s a special atmosphere there. It’s very relaxed. You have a variety of small restaurants and the beach is huge & wide. It’s also a little paradise for surfers as it is quite wavy. However, not the best for swimmers, except if you’re lucky enough to stay in a place with a nice pool. Then, it’s paradise! The best place to relax and charge yourself with positive energy!

Sleepy surf town.
Enjoy beach walks at low tide and food and drinks at one of the restaurants during high tide.
Gorgeous views of the surrounding jungle from this horseshoe-shaped beach.

Crowded. ~30-50 people out chasing 1-2' waves. Easy sand bottom. Mostly middle aged Israeli guys of intermediate level. A lot of waves had 3-4 people drop in. Beginners weren't bad, as they avoided the peak and rode closeouts Water was clear and warm. Didn't live up to the hype and drive.

It's grown, mostly for the better, lots of dining options. El sitio for sunset drink and chill dj is a must.

Our experience with Shokogi surf school was above and beyond our expectations. They have the most amazing camp for the kids. The camp included surfing lessons, yoga, arts + crafts, meals, and games. For the older kids the camp included video analysis of their surfing and footvolley. We also did 1:1 surfing lessons with different instructors from Shokogi. The instructors were very patient and knowledgeable. We came with minimal surfing experience and they took us all to the next level of surfing. They made us feel comfortable and safe in different wave/ ocean conditions. The lessons included the best keepsake, photos from the lessons. I highly recommend Shokogi surfing school. It’s great for all levels of surfing. Will definitely return and take more lessons with them. I wish I could give more than 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

For me by far the best surf school I have been to so far! The location it self is really nice but the school and shop are super well organised, well equipped and all of the instructors are careful, attentive and most of all fun. Thanks to Or for the best time and for taking care of me :) I can’t wait to come back soon!!

Awesome team. Super thoughtful, kind and patient. Within a week taught me to go from never having stood on a board to surfing green waves. Couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Our almost 5-year-old son had an amazing time at Shokogi’s Art & Surf Camp! This place isn't just about catching waves, it's about creating an unforgettable experience for kids of all ages and abilities.
Each day there’s a small group surf session with professional instructors that’s adapted to each kids’ level. There’s also art, yoga and other different adventures. Lunch and snacks are included. Our son, initially cautious, was met with endless patience, encouragement, and genuine warmth. It wasn't just about pushing him out on the board – it was about building confidence and creating a love for the ocean. And I’m happy to say that he was standing and actually catching waves by the end!
For me, safety is a top priority and the camp didn’t disappoint. The instructors were all super vigilant in the water while also fostering a sense of fun and independence.
A huge thank you to Eden and the crew for creating an incredible, warm and safe environment for our kids. Every day our son returned home happy and exhausted:)
I highly recommend this camp!

First of all, I want to say a huge thank you to Eden and the lovely staff of Shokogi. We had an amazing experience at the surf camp you set up for the beach kids. Thanks for the huge investment and all the little details. There is nothing more joyful than seeing the child get up with passion and enthusiasm for the new day that awaits him. Thank you very much ❤️

(Translated by Google) Isla Cañas became the Guaurumo Tribe's favorite destination for turtle sightings due to the good treatment we received from the Castillo family that supports us every year.
Only part of the island is protected so that the turtles can lay their eggs, so it is common at night to meet people who are dedicated to collecting the eggs to sell them.
On our last visit, we saw that the community was already organizing to have a nursery and rescue the eggs that remain outside the area protected by the Ministry of the Environment.

(Translated by Google) To get to Isla Caña you must first cross a mangrove. If the tide is low you have to walk for about 15 minutes until you reach the other end of the mangrove and if it is high you can go directly by boat. 1 dollar per person. Bring a beach umbrella because there is no shade to cover you from the sun.
