Small beautiful beach that contains a popular restaurant with small hotel in the form of cabins. This is ideal for people who want to enjoy a beach with the option of food and huts with seats and tables directly on the sand.
It is not a secluded beach devoid of life. Along your walk on the sand you will pass by the restaurant, huts and modern residences.
One of the best things you can do is stay overnight in one of the cabins. They are directly on the sand. The hotel has security guards at night. That could explain why my night time walks have felt safe even when wondering into the dark areas of the beach.
All my times here have been very pleasant without any incidences. Most of the visitors are families and not rowdy teenagers.
The parking lots are part of the restaurant. But don't feel obligated to buy anything there. Simply walk through the facilities and onto the sand.

Beautiful beach, warm water, uncrowded on a Wednesday. Nearby restaurants have huts (ranchos) you can rent for the day. The drive from Panama City is long, but a straight smooth shot on the Pan American highway. Worth a day trip.

Beautiful wide beach with white sand and a good selection of restaurants

Great beach with a few nice restaurants
Randy Vanderklok — Google review
Beautiful, clean beach. The water was clear even with a strong riptide, which they say usually only happens once a year. It was empty on a Monday. We were not charged to enter or park. We did tip the “bien cuidado” on the way out.

Nice beach, but sometimes a but dirty
Miriam Pretorius — Google review
We stayed at a nearby resort hotel. But Santa Clara beach is small quiet, with white sand, and the simple amenities such as showers, washrooms and hatched roof huts.
No loud music .... just the tranquil sound of waves on the beach. There is also a great seafood restaurant nearby.
Only challenge is you need to drive there.

Great beach! Peaceful place. Restaurant, shower, toilets. Best around Panama city.

Very nice, clean and civilized place. Beach with a paid entrance and rentable sunshades, restaurant with a sea view, mini-hotel, lots of water entertainment
Goblin Alchemist — Google review
Quite a nice beach to have a great day! You just need to go in a good season. The only thing is that during holidays the prices for renting their spots are higher. They usually charge $10 but during holidays, they may go up to $20

Cubita Tours was the best thing that came from the Cubita project.
It was a brilliant idea of.Fabian Obrist. It's still the best tour company in the Azuero Peninsula.
They provide an opportunity for visitors to easily see local places that show the cultural heritage of Panama.

I have mixed reviews on this. It was great for stop and highly regarded among the locals. Lot of people have weddings in other celebrations here. I was just not thrilled with the room. It was very small and very limited in amenities. However the public areas are really fantastic! Great pool and live music and great drinks!

(Translated by Google) Hotel is nice, they must work on staff, in the room the balcony door had a defect due to lack of maintenance, it rained and the water began to get in, we had to use the towels, requested extra towels and they never arrived.
There is no hot water
At breakfast, it was requested that the toast be replaced by puff pastry, there was no puff pastry, well, an omelette and carimañola were requested and that they be charged extra if necessary.... with what did the breakfast come? With cold toast .... and on top of that it became an argument with the staff ... in the end we ended up going out to buy breakfast elsewhere.

Absolutely amazing place to stay when on vacation! The area around it and even the views while staying on the property were amazing. Bouquete is an amazing little town as well. Tons of fun activities to participate in!
Antdevv — Google review
This is my 3rd time staying here and this Hotel is definitely not what it used to be. They use to have a great selection during breakfast since it was "buffet style", now they serve you and there's not much to choose from. I asked one of the servers why was that and her response was because "Covid" even though we went in June 2022! The bar only had one person working who didn't seem very motivated or happy. Rosita the lady at the front desk was absolutely helpful and speaks great English so if you don't speak spanish no worries Rosita will definitely assist. The food at the restaurant is not good, there are many other restaurants in Chitre to choose from. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds so I guess there's that.

This hotel is like a resort. Gorgeous property. An older hotel, but all the modern conveniences. Fun pool.

Overall very beautiful, you are paying mostly for the the common areas as the room is not a big deal. Restaurant was very good.

Good hotel to stay, pool, bar and restaurante, good service. Pet friendly but has a expensive daily rate if you stay long. US26 a day by pet.
Robinson Araya — Google review
The hotel is very good in every way except ... it is beside a farm that has a rooster that is very loud at 4:30 am.
Therefore bring ear-plugs.

An approximately 388 year old colonial church. Beautiful architecture and wood art inside.
Miguel Villanueva — Google review
389 year old colonial church in a mountain village. Wonderful interior with baroque details and raised pulpit not seen in most of the churches.
Quiet and non touristy environment allows for slow and relaxed visit that can be completed by local visit to nearby waterfall and cheese shops nearby.
Manuel Nunez — Google review
Does not respect opening times clearly published on a sign in front of the church, wasting people's time who made a detour to come here. People in the city hall opposite unhelpful. Clearly tourism isn't important for this town.

FANTASTIC equestrian experience in the mountains of Santa Fe, Panama! This ride is one not to miss when visiting Panama. My friend and I booked 3 full days riding and had an incredible and diverse adventure. We rode through a local cattle farm, explored a cave, crested mountain peaks with stunning vistas of surrounding valleys, and rode through lush jungle to a refreshing dip in a waterfall. Lizzie's horses are smart, surefooted, forward moving, and incredibly soft and responsive. Lizzie herself is wonderful! It was a blast riding with her and getting to know her and the life she has made in Panama. Her tour is super well organized and offers an authentic experience in Santa Fe. This ride was the highlight of our trip to Panama! DO NOT MISS IT!
Catherine Hart — Google review
Lizzie and her horses are amazing. Perfect for kids and all riders to enjoy Santa Fe. Highly recommend.
Allison Hudgins — Google review
This Panama ride is a hidden gem! For so many reasons. Amazing hospitality and customer service. Lizzie was an outstanding guide and host and delightful to spend time with. Lovely horses and varied scenery. Crossing the rivers was a fun challenge. Swimming with the horses and galloping up the dirt roads were also highlights. It felt like a truly local experience. Santa Fe, Panama is a little off the beaten path. You get to experience a taste of life in the countryside in Panama. Great combination of adventure and relaxation. When I wasn’t riding, I was taking in the beautiful mountain views from the patio outside my hotel room. The hotel had delicious food and a beautiful garden full of tropical flowers. I saw small parrots and a hummingbird.
Claire Cantrell — Google review
The waterfall hike is extremely difficult if it has been raining. Ask lots of questions ahead of time so you have the right expectations about the waterfall hike. The trail is all signed so you do not really need a guide since other picking some fruit off the trees along the way, there is not much to the hike other than seeing the waterfall. You can do it yourself and save yourself the $45 per person.
Shelly Mike Reynolds — Google review
I had an amazing day with Lizzie and José. It was the best way to discover different landscape of Santa Fe and the National park.
Lizzie was so helpful since I WhatsApp her until I went back to my hotel.
José was an amazing guide and really knowledgeable.
The horses are really healthy.
And we enjoy the perfect lunch at the organic Farm of Maria.
Everything was perfect. I will definitely recommend it and I hope to be able to come back.
kony bonnet — Google review
Amazing experience definitely worth it when in Santa Fe! The price might make you consider at first, but it is a unique possibility to explore the beautiful mountains around the town and you can 100% see that it will be invested right back into the animals. Lizzie is a friendly and outgoing guide, her horses were calm, patient and great to handle even for an inexperienced rider. Her dog Max was always there ready to show us the right way. 🤠

Lizzie and Martin are wonderful hosts and know the area so well. They care for their horses so well and the horses are all lovely to ride and perfectly suited for the area. Highly recommend Junglecat Panama if you're visiting Santa Fe
Karen King — Google review
We did an amazing Tour with Lizzy, Capitano and Floresita in February in the Santa Fe jungle. The horses are so calm and beautiful. Lizzy explained a lot about Life in Panama and she always made sure we are save. We visited waterfalls and a cave, which was very interesting. 100% recommendation. Thank you, Lizzy

Elizabeth was an excellent guide, very friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and helpful to me as an almost horse riding novice. She led my husband and I on a 3-hour horseback ride and then we had lunch afterwards which was included. The ride was beautiful. She took us across three rivers and we were up and down the valleys surrounding Santa Fe, Panama. The horses were extremely gentle and well cared for. I was nervous about galloping but my husband got to gallop his horse in a couple of areas. I highly recommend JungleCat for wonderful horseback riding in Santa Fe. They also have kayak excursions to the Caribbean coast. If we had more time that would have been fun to do. Elizabeth and her husband Martin are very engaging people.
Deanne Funkhouser — Google review
What a truly wonderful experience - I loved every minute of it: gorgeous trails, stunning views, easy going horses and Elizabeth just being the perfect guide to make you feel safe and happy throughout. Highly recommend!
Lea Huber — Google review
Elizabeth is a wonderful horse tour guide through the small and beautiful Santa Fe! While many outlets let their horses starve almost, these horses are well fed and kept. Since she speaks English, the tour is a bit more accessible than some. The tour is possible even if you are a beginner in good general fitness. If you are lucky, you get horses like Capitan, an awesome and easy going horse. Mantequila can be a bit more challenging, but is super fast if you get the chance to run with the horses on a wide field. If you come by cacao trees, there might be a chance to try the fresh unprocessed fruit. Stay away from other tourist traps like Mitzila in El Valle and come here instead!
R H — Google review
I've ridden many times in the past and the experience I had in Santa Fe with Junglecat was, by far, the best.
The horses are well trained, very friendly and very sturdy and safe.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the scenic surroundings of beautiful the beautiful Santa Fe mountains (our route included riding through different parts of the town and with the horses through the river as well as great gallops along the trail).
I was impressed by the professionalism in our experience and at the same time the ability of the staff to be flexible.
I very much recommend this experience for anyone who would like to have the best authentic mountain horseback riding experience (suitable for large groups, small groups, and families alike).
We will DEFINITELY make an effort to come back and redo our awesome riding experience with Junglecat.

Precioso lugar. Muy amables. Solo falló la pesca.
We had some wonderful horse rides and some really nice horses. Usually when you go on a trail ride you’re stuck on a horse that won’t do anything but walk behind the horse in front of it and this was not that! We got to gallop along the beach and it was incredible!
Lize also does a great job with the yoga. Truly a great experience.

We took the beach horse ride tour and it was fabulous! Gama is an excellent guide and even though we had very little prior horse riding experience we had no problems and found it easy to ride. Gama also provided local history along the tour and gave us some time to explore the beach and river midway through the tour.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone with any level of horse riding experience!!!
LJ Smiley — Google review
My friend and I loved every moment of the horse riding trip with Gama. The scenery was beautiful, through long grass, down to the mangroves, up to viewpoints where you could see for miles. We learnt lots along the way about medicinal plants traditionally used and how to ride western style - something completely new to us. The horses were perfectly behaved, we had so much fun and didn’t want it to end! Gama and Lize are great people, super friendly and helpful and made sure that the ride was well adapted to our interests and horse riding level even as experienced riders. Thank you!

We had an amazing experience with the Indigenous Tribe Tour. Our guide had a personal connection with the members of the Indigenous family which allowed us to really see their way of life in a manner that was not exploiting. It was fascinating for my kids as well to see how people live outside of a first world, modern society. Highly recommended and an experience I will remember for many years.

A truly excellent experience. Both the beach and the nature ride have a lot to offer. The horses are expertly trained and both Gama and Lisa are wonderful people. I will definitely return.

This is the third time we go for a ride with Gama and we will certainly come back. The horses are very well behaving so you feel really safe and of course Gama is there all the time . Gama knows everything about Panamas ; plants, animals and landscape so it’s very interesting.
We love the tour on the beach of course but you must try the tour in the landscape behind on Gamas family’s property because you will have another experience and some breathtaking views.
Many thanks to Gama and also to Lisa , his wife who does the booking and takes care of you before and after the ride. Sanna and Thierry

What an incredible experience. Gama has some beautiful horses- healthy and loved! They trust their humans and take you on the ride of a lifetime. Gama has so much to offer - he knows the land and what lives on it and offers an unforgettable experience. Muchas gracias Gama y Lisa- I can’t wait for my next ride!

My daughter really enjoyed the horse riding tour with Gama. Even though she can't speak Spanish, Gama still managed to explain a lot. She is an advanced rider but has never rode Western style before, she usually does dressage. She really enjoyed galloping on the beach and learned a few great skills. I would definitely recommend going on this tour with Gama, advanced or beginner.
Annemarie van den Brekel — Google review
We had a really good time while horseback riding with Gama. Even though we were inexperienced riders we felt safe the whole time and were very well looked after. Gama is a very knowledgeable guide and has a lot to tell about the beautiful landscape. The horses are exceptionally well trained and cared for. We can highly recommend booking a tour with Cocaleca!
My friend and I fished with Come fish Panama, January 2023 for four days. The guys put us on the fish every day all day, rooster fish, red snappers, Cubera snappers, tuna, bonito, African pompano, mahi… perfect gear, clean boats, good lunches, and cold drinks and fruit in the afternoon. Captain and mate went above and beyond. We will be back!

First class accommodations, boat and crew. We wanted to catch Rooster fish and the crew put us on them. Kerry is a great host and our trip was a memory we will never forget. Thanks again for the hospitality and great fishing.

Kerry is an interesting person ask him about the Zonian experience. My wife, and friends have fished with Come Fish Panama at least five different times. Each trip offers a unique experience. The Captain and mate work and work to ensure you have a quality and successful trip. Fishing the Hannibal Bank is amazing, with an incredibly fertile upwelling with Islands nearby. In shore fishing for Rooster fish trolling around volcanic pinnacles is both beautiful, relaxing and fulfilling. If you are tired of fishing, the Captain can take you to a white sand island for a swim. Truly memorable fishing and great lodging. Brent Simon

A remarkable sportfishing adventure with Come Fish Panama. Our group enjoyed 5 days of fishing. Catching all sorts of species which include Marlin, Pacific Sail, Roosterfish, and other fish as well. A 5-star lodge with wonderful food in which we enjoyed each dinner evening. 2 swimming pools at the lodge is a bonus I might add, which we totally enjoyed! Amazing Sport Fishing trip with Come Fish Panama. The lodge is beautiful and the staff was incredible- had fresh Tuna, Wahoo and Lobster for dinner. Crew on the vessel were amazing caught Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, Bluefin Trevally and Blue Marlin's were the icing on the cake (800 and 650 Lbs.). Just incredible a must GO for anyone looking to saltwater sport fish- Our trip was in Aug. as we booked late into the season but well worth it. Thank you CFP and we will definitely look forward to our return.

Panama is an annual destination for my wife and I. Seven consecutive years of amazing tropical fishing. I have fished two operations during this time, and I am pleased to say that the last 4 have been with ComeFishPanama. I am positive that I have found the only source I need to take advantage of the amazing fishery in the gulf of Chiriqui. The other operation was good, but Kerry Leggett's operation has proven to be the best. From top-notch boats and crew, to amazing resort-style accommodations and food, it's a real treat to fish with ComeFishPanama! One of the things that really stand out is Kerry Leggett himself. Very professional and customer service oriented, Kerry will do his best to provide you the fishing experience of your dreams. As far as the fishing goes, of course its amazing. And all the operations down there in the Gulf of Chiriqui fish the same water, for the most part. What it really boils down to at the end of the day for me is expert, motivated boat crews that work hard to put the boat on fish and great food and accommodations. The Bocas Del Mar Resort provides a perfect jumping off point, with luxury accommodations, gourmet food and good customer service. Five Star on all levels! The fishing is 5 star, too! Check out the photos from many epic days of fishing with ComeFishPanama. Highly recommended. You will be stoked with the ComeFishPanama experience.

Eh if you enjoy beaches with no activities or events you'll probably like it. I wasn't expecting the tour I did to leave us there for 2 hours (20 minutes is usually my max before I get bored at beaches), otherwise I would have brought a book and more snacks. Or even a trash bag to pick up after those who don't care about the environment. Highly recommend that if you also get easily bored on beaches. Water is blue and pretty, but very warm.

The beauty of this place is unmatched. The true definition of paradise. The water is warm the views are breathtaking. This is a place you can just sit and relax and enjoy what nature has created in all it's glory. If you are in Bocas Del Toro this Island is a must see. Most places on the main island offer tours but I would recommend taking a private tour as it gives to the privilege of enjoying this beautiful place with your family.
Matthew Kelly — Google review
We were a bit underwhelmed with the tour they sell all over the island (dolphin bay, sloth island, snorkeling, lunch, Zapatilla island, Hollywood/star fish). They will let you go, even when the weather is horrible. We cancelled the first trip due to the bad weather. The next day we went but we did not see any dolphins nor star fish (you won’t go to the actual beach but are suppose to spot them from the boat) due to the water conditions. Due to the water conditions, we also couldn’t snorkle. The lunch was awful (18 dollars for a fried fish from the freezer - ridiculous). We did see some sloths but since they stay high up in the tree and you cannot go on that island since the island is private property, you see them from a great distance. The island Zapatilla itself is nice but expect to be there with 20 other boats and therefore 400 other visitors. To be honest, it’s neither worth your money nor your time.

This island was really beautiful. A must if you are in Bocas. We went with a tour and spent about 2 hours there, but would suggest doing it for a while day. Make sure to bring food and water with you.
We got fresh pipas (green coconuts) from one of the local person and they were just delicious. Really, really worth it.
The walk around the island takes about 35 min if you do not stop. There are some trails inside the island forest as well. You can snorkel and swim in most of the beaches, so bring some gear with you.

If you ever dreamed of being on a white sand, clear blue water deserted Island.. this is the place to go. There are no people, no washrooms, no amenities. You can literally swim in the warm ocean, lay on the sand and take a nap, walk around the island and watch pelicans dive for fish. It is so peaceful. When we were there (a group of 4), there was maybe 3 other people visiting. It is a protected set of islands for sea turtles, so some times of the year you aren't allowed to visit.

Gorgeous pristine soft sand. Warm blue clear sea water perfect for swimming. Calm seas. Need to go by Tour boat from Bocas town.

This is a very nice place to visit. I've been to other hot springs but none like this. Be prepared as there's a pretty good little hike from the parking lot down to the entrance. But upon entering it's a beautiful little farm right off of the Caldera River. The Hot springs themselves were hot as advertised. We enjoyed our approximately 2 hours stay. There's a small changing room. Make sure to wear your flip-flops around the property. Some people venture down to the river for a cool rinse. Watch your step is there's Rocky terrain all over. This was definitely an adventure to get there and while we were there but worth it. I'd also have someone local take you there as opposed to figuring it out on your own. Recommend.
Chris Guella — Google review
This is not the correct address for entering the hot springs.
All roads are private property and are behind locked gates.
We followed the road to the hydroplant and found the bridge you are meant to enter and it is very much closed!
Nicola Greenaway — Google review
The area has 3 or 4 small hot wells, its out in the middle of no where, if you take transportation they drop you off several miles away and their last pick up is 3:30 pm.
We had a car, and you have to be really careful due to rocky road. We gave some girls who were trying to walk out of area with flip flops to catch bus.
Be nice and if you see people walking back, offer a ride.
The river is great, nice and cold, no crowds. No glass allowed, or liquor.
We brought our pick nick and a flask of wine. Make sure to take all of your garbage with you. On the way to car I picked up cans, plastic tops, beer caps etc. So be nice and help keep it clean.
It's an inexpensive and rewarding trip, if you have a car, or take a tour 4x4 that takes you at least where cars park.
Niurka Espinola — Google review
Very remote hot springs with two hot bath. Very close to the river.
Long drive on a dirt road to get there. 4x4 recommended.
Marcel van den Berg — Google review
t would be advisable to set your expectations as you think of visiting the Caldera Hot Springs.
1. You must have a good car e.g. an SUV or a pick up truck. Certain sections of the road are full of huge pot holes.
2. Be able to walk on rough rocky path for about 1.5KM.
3. Be aware that there are no changing rooms or restrooms or showers.
4. Be ready to share the small warm to hot water holes with others. Not very easy to get into.
5. There are no signs to tell you where to go and you have to walk over uneven paths to figure it out.
6. Lastly be ready to pay a civilian $3 per person and you get NO receipt for it. Not sure if this is legit.
7. Once done with the sit-in you may very carefully walk down to the river and soak in the cold water to clean up.
Below are the directions:
Turn on to route 10 from route 41. Go for about 12KM through the village of Caldera (Via a Caldera) and turn right. You will see a small BLUE sign as per photo saying “POZOS TERMINALES”.
From this turn go about 8KM till you the BLUE sign and turn left. From this turn to the parking lot is about 2KM. From the parking lot to the Hot Springs is about 1.5KM walking over rough stones.

We liked the hot springs but in the end spent more time in the nearby cold River which is clean and fun

GoogleMaps sent us to a private property we couldn't access. Follow the signs!!! 4×4 very recommended. Tough road with big potholes. Take comfy shoes cause you have to hike a bit. The springs themselves are small (3-5 people per pool) but are very hot.
Augusto Hou — Google review
This was a little bit of an adventure to get to. Google maps directed us to a gated farm with signs saying "private property" and we had to backtrack to a turn off with a sign saying hot springs. This took us down a very rough, bumpy dirt road. My parents made it most of the way down the road in their rental car, but I honestly don't recommend trying in anything that small. Then we crosses two bridges (the first across a canal and the second is a suspension bridge). When you've crossed the suspension bridge you are almost there and just have to turn left and drive up a short, really rough road to a small parking area. After that you set off on a 15 minute trek through the jungle until you get to a small farm and pay the owner of the house $3 per person. If you're a tourist you may be thinking "where the heck am I?" because it isn't obviously anything besides a farm, but if you wait for the owner to come out and you pay he'll give you a little tour and instructions and the entire area is quite delightful. We went with my parents and my three kids and everyone really enjoyed their time and the rustic experience, but we had several moments on the way there of wondering if we were going to make it and whether we were headed the right way. Google maps wasn't entirely helpful.
quinn rose — Google review
The road here is mostly paved until you turn off to the springs. I don't recommend sedans or lower vehicles due to the unfinished road. A kind local gave us a ride to the springs and then came to get us after we were finished. The cost is $3 per person to access the hot springs.
Rhaiza G — Google review
The location is a bit secluded, wear sneakers since you must walk like 5 min. The place only has 1 or 2 springs that you really can enjoy. The river is cold and nice, I don't recommend slippers since it is slippery.
Fernando Pineda — Google review
Journey: you leave the main road where there is a big blue sign with a picture of the hot springs and you turn left. It's then a 15 minute careful drive down a non tarmac road where you go over two bridges. Once you're across you head left and go up a steep hill to where another blue sign indicating the car park about 100 m.
After parking, you walk down a steep rocky path across a river and two bridges probably 500 m or 10 minute walk. Once you arrive you are met by the owner who asks for $3 per person.
Hot Springs:
There is two changing huts. The river is lovely and then they have two hot springs Waldorf by stone walls. There were numerous locals who were very friendly and the hot spring we went into was over 40 degrees.
Would recommend if you're in the area and want an adventure.
Andy Jones — Google review
Very raw. We took a cab to the place and with 5 people, we paid $10. It saved us 20 mins of walking and time for not waiting for a bus. It is muddy to get there but with proper shoes, it's not a problem. There's 2 spots. One is bigger could fit approximately 10 to 12 people. the other is smaller it could fit 6 people. You cool off at the river but you cannot go far out since the current is very strong. The place is owned by a local family. It costs $2. The hike there is easy and very fresh and peaceful. You will he hiking on rocks but as I said, with proper shoes, it is manageable.
Dee Waayenberg — Google review
If you are in a sedan DO NOT drive up the hill after the red bridge. We did but our rental surely doesn’t thank us. Amazing natural hot springs on a secluded farm. $3 to get in and completely worth it. No food or water to drink so be sure to bring some if you will stay here a long time

Green Acres Chocolate Farm
Sights & Landmarks
Farms
So, from Bocas Town, you take a water taxi for about 25 minutes and you arrive at this small, thatched-roof dock in the middle of nowhere. You get off your boat, and you're greeted by the owner, Gary, who is a life-long environmental activist. Gary owns 30 acres of jungle on the mainland of Bocas del Toro province and uses it for a bunch of stuff, which includes growing chocolate commercially but also a lot of other things. This tour is Gary walking you around his property for about 3 hours (don't believe the listed time of 2 hours) showing you the various plants and animals that live there and telling you about his various projects. One of those projects is making chocolate, and you do get to see and taste cacao fruits and see how chocolate is made, but his other projects include raising endangered Almendro trees for reforestation projects and working with local native tribes to encourage the growing of native plants for food. We saw so much wildlife on the tour: at least four sloths, wild poison dart frogs, a bullet ant, and several birds. One group of people on our tour brought big binoculars with them and saw a bunch of exotic birds.
Bruce Arthur — Google review
When you are in Bocas, making the trip to Dolphin Bay and onto Green Acres Chocolate Farm, is an excursion worthy to pursue. You will be rewarded for having made the trip not only in seeing how chocolate is made but you will be energetically entertained by the engaging and humorous owner, Gary. He has passion and when someone has passion to share, you feel connected and share in that excitement. In the interactive tour along the trail, you will learn about the Great Green Macaw Restoration Project and the importance of the ecology of its dependence on the mountain almendro tree. Oh, at the end of the tour, there are treats. Yummy treats! Make the effort to get to Green Acres Chocolate Farm.

Quite educative and entertaining trip. Gary is enthusiastic but not an overwhelming host. Together with Stan, they share good knowledge and really make a difference for the local community and environment. The place itself is also very picturesque.

Gary truly has a great heart for the environment! I can only do what I can at home but this man has made it his life passion. He gives the tours through the true rain forest he tries to point out all the wild life as you go through the property. (frogs and sloths plus more) Amazing tour! Amazing property!!!! Must do!
Sheila Chapman — Google review
The best chocolate and jungle tour in the Bocas area if not in Panama.. Gary ( the owner) makes the tour very special and his knowledge of the jungle, plants, cacao and animals is vast! Highly recommend! Not to mention the delicious chocolate you get to taste and buy at the end!
Peter Hejno — Google review
Gary is a character with the kind of passion you witness once in a lifetime. He toured us through his favourite (rare, endangered) trees, the volunteer centre, the cacao roastery & small batch processing facility on-site. His property will have you immersed in the world of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory as you’ll hike up through the trails and he takes his time to point out several uniquely nutritious plants native to Panama, explaining their health benefits & answering all of our questions in his particular humorous way.
We saw more poisonous dart frogs than we could count, along with sloths, hummingbirds & nests filled with tiny speckled eggs that had us all, including Gary in all of his childlike wonder of the natural world, giggling and stopping to really soak in the magic of. You cannot help but feel like a special person when you visit because he subtly curates the tour to visitors’ individual personalities and interests, remembering you by name as a small example of this. The award winning cacao product tastings at the end of the tour are literally *just* the cherry on top.
An absolute must visit to support this non-profit’s work if you’re anywhere in Bocas’ archipelago.
Kinjal Patel (Kinu) — Google review
We arranged a tour of this farm from Tranquilo Bay Eco resort. Other guests were ranting about it. They saw several of the green tree frogs, which I really wanted to see, so we booked a tour. I wasn’t expecting much out of the tour and really did the tour to see frogs.
We did see frogs! But that goal was not as gratifying as learning from Gary and hearing his goals for the environment in Panama. It was a very interesting, informative and inspirational tour which was also a lot of fun.
Both me and my wife loved this tour and would highly recommend it. It would be appropriate for children maybe over 10 or over in my opinion. One of our fellow guests at Tranquilo called the experience “life changing”. Very cool indeed.

Gary gives a great tour. We saw a lot of various plants and trees while learning about the ecology of Panama and some history and challenges from large scale fruit production.
Along the way we also saw a few sloths and black and green poison dart frogs. We could hear howler monkeys but never saw them.
We also learned about cacao and chocolate production and got to sample raw cacao seeds and pure chocolate, along with some chocolate drinks.
Would highly recommend!

Loved Gary, the bluefrogs, the trees (specially the "married almedroeras"), the birds (all and each one of then), his dogs, and most of all his cocoa and the magic they do to turn it to the best chocolate ever. Dont miss it chocolate lovers!

Dolphin Bay was hands down the best part of our whole trip to Panama. What a stunning property, lovely hosts and amazing food. We had the best time exploring the property to see the wildlife (so many sloths!) and going out on tours with Brian to snorkel and see dolphins.
Highly recommend giving yourself more time here than you thought! And don't bother doing day trips from Bocas if you're headed to dolphin bay- you'll see more with Brian & Amy anyway!
Thanks Brian & Amy for the wonderful stay.

Its hard to know where to start as this place exceeded all our expectations and we had a wonderful stay. Brian and Amy are totally passionate and committed to how they run Dolphin Bay and we instantly felt welcome and at home. We also appreciated their integration with the local & wider community & the staff are the loveliest friendliest people you could hope to meet.
The location tucked away amongst the mangroves was breathtaking and peaceful. I don’t want to give too much away as discovering the wonders of this place is half the fun but there is plenty to do with calm water, boat trips, kayaking, snorkelling on the colourful reefs, dolphin watching (which was wonderful), exploring the various islands or just enjoying the vibrant grounds with its abundant wildlife. Brian's passion for ecology & conservation and the works they are doing to restore the surrounding jungle into a thriving habitat makes his guided walk fascinating. The efforts he is putting in to encouraging the local frog population was particularly colourful!
It was lovely meeting the different guests and we enjoying sharing meals… if you haven’t already read in other reviews the food here is exceptional, the fresh tuna streaks was one of my favourites! We also shared boat trips with the other guests which was fun.
Our bed in the Bay Room was super comfy and the overhead fans a delight…having chatted to other guest all the rooms have the same and the rooms were refreshed daily which was lovely.
If your thinking about staying here just book. We stayed for a week and it was one of the highlights for us over a six week trip….we really hope to return sometime!! Many, many thanks Brian, Amy and team :-)

We had a wonderful experience during our stay at Dolphin Bay last December. We got to explore the area guided by Brian and see frogs, toucans, sloths, hummingbirds and all kinds of tropical plants. We got inspired by all the reforestation work that the DB team is doing and how they’ve been able to bring so much life back. Amy made sure we had wonderful food and drinks every day. If you enjoy having your morning coffee while watching dolphins play or go snorkeling in pristine coral reefs this is the place for you. We can’t wait to be back to Panama and especially this piece of paradise.

We had a wonderful stay at Dolphin Bay Hideaway. We were picked up by boat in Bocas Town and the journey there was already an experience. As soon as we arrived at the Dolphin Hideaway, we immediately felt like we were in paradise. The accommodation is in the middle of nature with a beautiful bay. Amy and Brian are very warm and helpful hosts. We loved Amy's drinks and food and also went on various trips with Brian. We went snorkeling, visited the Blue Coconut, enjoyed the beautiful Red Frog Beach and went on an exciting hike in the jungle. Our time at Dolphin Bay Hideaway was truly unique and we will never forget it. Thank you and we can't wait to come back!

Brian, Amy and their team of staff are the best hosts you could ask for. Brian knows the best snorkeling spots and you are sure to encounter lots of dolphin sightings. Be sure to take them up on the guided jungle tour, and ensure you don’t rush your stay. Everything from a punctual pick up on Bocas to a stress free on time drop off at the end was great.

Nestled along the serene Dolphin Bay on Isla Cristobal, Dolphin Bay Hideaway is a haven of coziness and hospitality. Brian and Amy, the sensational hosts, welcomed us warmly, eager to share their experiences and the beauty of their home.
Our days were filled with extraordinary adventures - standup paddling amidst playful dolphins left us in awe of nature's wonders. Brian's guided jungle walk was an educational delight, unveiling the secrets of the forest with its diverse flora and fauna.
The convenience of a nearby snorkeling spot, just a short boat ride away, added another layer of exploration to our stay. The culinary experience here was a highlight, courtesy of Amy and her skilled cooking partner, serving up delectable dishes that left us eagerly anticipating each meal.
For those yearning for a quieter escape in Bocas del Toro, Dolphin Bay Hideaway is an unparalleled recommendation. With its captivating surroundings, engaging hosts, thrilling activities, and exceptional culinary delights, it's a retreat that promises tranquility and cherished memories.

We planned staying 2 nights but liked it so much we extended. The place itself is beautiful and feels resourceful, there are countless possibilities to do (kayak, SUP, snorkel for free, and the nature hike with Brian is seriously amazing, we learned so much!)
The food was great and the staff is super nice too. And you get all of that while watching dolphins from the veranda, we saw them every day! Plus all the birds and animals in the beautiful garden.
We got a little sick while there and Brian and Amy took great care of us and were so kind. Thank you again for everything!

Outstanding owners and staff. We have been helped every step of the way. Individual approach, so much personal attention given to us. We felt very special and taken care off. Various tours offered so you never get bored. Amazing food and drinks. You find yourself in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by pure nature, which turns out to be an exact place you should have been.
As you are so far from civilization, you should realize the only way to get there is with water taxi, so you can not be that independent traveler. Fortunately, Dolphin Bay has kayaks and their own boats to take you any direction if asked.
Brian and Amy our respect for all that you're doing, hope to see you again!

A gem 💎 for those who want to relax, explore, and enjoy nature.
Amy and Brian are your hosts and they work very hard to ensure your stay is a memorable one.
The excusions on and around the property are well worth it. Do the jungle tour to get a better appreciation of the forests in this part of panama. The snorkelling in the bay is also a highlight.
When it comes to meals, don't sleep in or you'll miss one of the best breakfasts. Likewise, the evening meal is a treat after a busy day hiking or snorkelling.
Remember, this is off grid living, so respect the water and electrical rules so everyone can share this little piece of paradise.
We'll be back to stay here next time we're in panama, and so should you.

We felt right at home with Amy and Brian and met a lot of nice people. The two do excellent work for nature. Brian really knows a lot about the animal and plant world and can teach you a lot. The accommodation is beautiful, the food is soooo delicious. I love dolphins and have seen a lot thanks to Brian. It was just perfect!
The Lost Waterfalls, also known as Las Tres Cascadas, is a jungle hiking destination that features three waterfalls with natural pools and an abundance of wildlife like quetzals and snakes. The trails are well-marked and easy to follow, making for a pleasant hike. However, visitors should note that the park closes at 4pm and there is a $10 per person entrance fee, which may be considered expensive for a Latin American hiking experience.
Great hike. Very good waterfalls. The only reason I say very good and not downright amazing is more just because of my waterfall experience. Travelling a lot in Costa Rica and really around the world I have been to a ton of waterfalls. These I would not list as the best but they are beautiful and it is a great hike. I love the beginning of it where you get views of the valley and some farming on the mountains. Also the large pine trees
Jason Stein — Google review
These waterfalls are so beautiful and pristine! The hike is steep, but worth it! If your in good shape, it’s very easy. If not, I could see it being difficult. There is a very steep section you have to use a rope to get up and down.

Beautiful hike with 3 waterfalls. We ended up parking our car at the entrance near the pipeline trail and walking about 0.6 miles on the road to the right of the pipeline trail to the entrance of the lost waterfalls trail. This part was paved and mostly uphill, but there is parking close to the entrance of the lost waterfalls too. Entrance fee was $10 per person but was worth it and felt like the trails were well maintained.
From someone who lives normally at zero elevation, the hike was difficult but manageable for someone who is in shape. It took us 3.5 hours to complete including stopping at each waterfall and swimming in 2 of the waterfalls. Waterfall 2&3 can be swam in, water was cold but worth the experience to swim. It is cooler on this hike as it is very shaded from the trees and higher elevation than in Boquete. Areas of the hike are steep with some of the portions with ropes to assist getting up and down. Overall, I recommend this hike, we had fun!
Serenna Schantz — Google review
That is an amazing trek, not the easiest one and for good hiking shoes only, but absolutely worth the effort! You do not need a guide for this one (if you have own transport to bring you to the starting point). The path to the 1st waterfall is rather easy, the difficulty increasing with each waterfall. We lived it!
Lena M — Google review
Just so everyone knows it is 10 dollars per person. We've done a lot of hiking in our lives and one of the reasons we enjoy it is because it is cheap. However they do have to do a bit of trail maintenance and the lady we paid mentioned that a lot of the money goes back to local preservation and indigenous communities. It is a slippery trail so wear good shoes. Lots of uphill/downhill.
Tiara C — Google review
Nice waterfalls. You can easily take a bus here for 2.5 dollars and then hike up. Entry is 10 dollars. If you wanna swim, be aware that you can only swim in waterfalls 2 and 3. It's a nice hike, not that exhausting. Some parts there are ropes, so you don't fall climbing up or down.
Jasper Weber — Google review
Nice hike, trails are easy to follow. Lots of signage. It closes at 4pm, so plan accordingly. The hike took about an hour one way to falls #2, obviously this depends on your health, fitness level, and the weather (it was dry). Note the hike will cost you $10 per person to enter, so quite expensive considering your in Latin America for a hike. Parking is on the street and is limited. The person at the gate house where you pay was very friendly and helpful.

2/3 waterfalls reached. It has spectular views. From the moment you leace your car nearby and star hiking, there is something to look at. It was lke $8 per person to enter the trail. It is well maintained so I guess its fine but we didnt know this beforehand. Good shoes are recommended because theres a lot of loose rock and mud. Maybe bring an extra pair of pants if youre gonna dip in the first waterfall and then continue to the third one. It is very cold. I have to go again and complete the trail.

5 stars for the hike, 1 star for how poorly the trail is maintained at some points and the entrance fee (10 dollars per person is absurd - especially considering the condition of the trail). The hike takes 15 minutes up to the entrance and then 1 hour back and forth so in total between 2-2,5 hours. Wear proper hiking shoes and be prepared to get very muddy. The waterfalls are gorgeous and the views are well worth the effort

Medium to Hard Hike. I am 62 with improving knees and I was able to do it. I used a guide Jose who was awsome. There is a rope part which was helpful to have a guide. Any one who is injured free and young should have no problem. Very slipper and muddy worst in the winter I was told. Hiking pole was helpful. Drink lots of water eat breakfast or lunch before you go

My partner and I decided to do this hike on our own and we did not regret it! There are a lot of reviews complaining about the $10 entry fee but the property managers maintain the trail and the experience at the waterfalls is breathtaking! I do think you need to be comfortable with hiking over rocks and slippery terrain. Would do it again in hotter weather!

Inflation takes its toll, right now you got to pay 10 bucks each to enter the private property. Apart from this annoyment we enjoyed the hike to the three cascades a lot. The paths wind cleverly through the rising terrain and they are partly secured by wooden steps. At some point you have to use ropes to manage the steep climbs - a challenging task, especially in the rain. You will get rewarded by nice views into the rainforest and on the three cascades, which don't break any records but are beautiful to look at and provide an opportunity for swimming if you can tolerate cold water.

Nice but way more demanding than described in official tours. The waterfalls are nice but even I as a non hiker have seen some on comparable level

Wonderful hike with beautiful views. Challenging at times. Muddy. Bring plenty of water and take your time. It took me, my wife, 9yr old and 12 yr daughters about 3 hours to get there and back. We did plenty of stops to take videos, pictures, and catch our breath.

I think the path up to the entrance cabin was the toughest part because it's steep. You cross a bridge that only monkeys are allowed to jump across, humans have to walk. There's some chickens, colorful flowers, and view of the volcano (covered in clouds when we went).
We went on a relatively dry day and got a bit muddy. You might get more muddy if there was more rain. None of us slipped once!
There's lots of railings and ropes to help going up and downhill. I think the paths look harder than they actually are, but it is uphill and downhill the whole time. Took us 2.5 hours roundtrip.
My favorite was waterfall #2! It was $10 entry and they have a toilet with a sink you can use before and/or after the hike. No door for the bathroom but you get a good view of the volcano while on the toilet 😂 The trail stops allowing entry at 3pm, so don't arrive too late!
Playa Bluff is a secluded beach that's well-known for its strong waves, making it a popular spot for surfing. The beach is surrounded by trees and offers picturesque views. However, the sand can be sticky and the currents are quite powerful, so swimming isn't recommended. To get to town, catch one of the regular buses from Bar and Hotel Island Plantation - schedules are available at the bar.
Nice beach with sticky sand and large waves. Rip curls and waves make swimming difficult. The bus into town goes regularly from the Bar and Hotel Island Plantation. Ask for the schedule at the bar. Last busses go at 4 and at 6 p. m.

I truly enjoyed my stay here but especially because of a sweet and wonderful host named Melissa. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable for our stay. She provided me with aloe vera as there was no store near by to help with my sun burnt skin. My friend Ken loved this place just as much. Also, Carlos who took care of the grounds was super helpful and kind. We’ll definitely be returning and sending our friends and family here. Ps. the restaurant just a stones throw away had the best bbq pulled pork sandwich and fish! Pps. Respect the water and killer waves. That’s why only 4 stars. Not a friendly swim. I swam in the pool which was kept at a perfect temp and was fairly free of debris.

Beautiful beach even when the waves are crashing the shoreline. The raw power of the sea makes you feel small.
There are rips here, so you must be careful when entering the water. Definitely not recommended when the wind is blowing. The day we visited, the waves were 10ft (3m) plus in height. Nope, we didn't swim, just took in the beauty of nature. Beach was very clean.
Some restaurants in the area like Oasis but check their times as they vary.
It's a rough road, and a taxi will take up to 30 mins to get there. Price as of Jan 2023 is $15 for the cab each way. Can be biked, and there are many on this route.
Well worth the trip to see this beach ⛱️

This isnt a calm beach where you can go for a dip. These waves will drag you around. But if you like that and are careful enough then you will like it. Good thing is theres a lot of shade for you to sit or lay. and relax. Theres one restaurant i didnt get to go but it is futher up the coast. 5/5 would go again. IG harry_quinn_

Basically beautiful beach and comfi shadow situation, but (currently) you can’t really go into the water because the massive waves are live threatening.. bathing is not really possible

The beach was big and perfect to relax in the shadows of the plams.

Do not take buses to or from here. They are not reliable. Locals say they rarely and randomly appear. Taxis $5 each are more dependable. Popular place for bodyboarding. Not really for safe swimming but walkable. Swim up the trail at la piscina.

Absolutely amazing trail trough the jungle including bridges, crossing a river and hiking up the "Mirador"! U don't need a guide, only if you want to see special birds and other animals. I recommend starting really early from boquete and hiking up to the Mirador. Don't trust the distances on the signs! 😂 We returned from the viewing point to the ranger station in boquete and saved us the long trip in the bus from Cerro punta to David. This version of the hike takes you around 5h.
But it's absolutely worth it!!
Constantin — Google review
Great hike with nice ranger. It's quite a tough climb going up from the Boquete side. Most tours go the other way around. We did just go up to the lookout point and then back... Took us about 7 hours.
Ricardo Schluter — Google review
One of the most popular Hiking trail in Boquete area, we did it in rain season (AUGUST) and we where just by our own the complete morning. Also we had to plan a scheduled return for avoiding the rain storm and when reaching the Mirador we only where able to see foog. Nevertheless, the trail itself through ghe jungle is espectacular, the last big ramp until the mirador only for sporty people! 40 min up monster steps through the jungle hill! Whe just heard them from the distance but if you are lucky you can see the Howlers and Qutzales here.
Inigo Parra — Google review
Very nice trail through the middle of the jungle. The path is easy to find but you should be aware that you hike literally inside the jungle and without data service. But there a signs giving you a feeling of distance and that you are walking right. We took the path till the Mirador and then headed back. It took us about 4 hours. The last bit up the Mirador is very tough and you'll need to be fit as it takes you around 45 minutes more or less very steep uphill. I really liked the trail itself, however the view from the Mirador isn't THAT stunning. If you like hiking you should do the trail anyway.

We had a really nice walk here. The trail is easy to follow and along the way you can find some Quetzales, you have to be a bit lucky though. They are high up in the trees and difficult to spot. The ranger told us from Boquete that there is no entrance fee, which was nice. Also, busses/taxi’s don’t stop frequently at this place, you should walk down 20 minutes to the ‘lost waterfall hike’ and catch a bus there.

Wow wow wow.
We saw female quetzal (despite being out of season), woodpeckers, parrots and even chlorophonias, as well as red tailed hawks and many others.
The plants are amazing, too.
Volcán Barú, the largest volcano in Panama, offers a challenging yet rewarding hiking experience for those in good physical condition. The journey to the summit can be made by car for a breathtaking sunrise view, but be prepared for a rough and adventurous ride. Hiking to the top is described as long and demanding, with some sections offering relief for tired legs. It's recommended to start the hike at midnight to reach the summit around 5 am, allowing time for breaks along the way.
Me and my group went up the trail by car. They picked up early in the am. By 4am we started the journey. Bumpy all the the way but very comfortable thanks to Mr Florian and their cars. Couple of big V8 cars that would climb up and down the rock with ease. The top was freezing, I underestimated it. From the antenas you must hike up to the cross. It is a 4/5 dangerous little hike. Doesn’t take long but you should be very very careful. At the end, it worth it. The view, the sunrise, standing tall above all majestic Panama.
Harry Quinn — Google review
Took 6 hours up, 3.5 hours down. Started exactly at midnight and made it to the viewpoint with the cross at exactly 6am. We took a few 1-5 minute water/snack/stargazing breaks on the way up and a ~10 minute snack break both ways. Took a short break to add layers at the camping spot across the red metal shed on the way up.
The top is freezing! I wore fleece lined pants under my hiking pants. 2 pairs of merino wool socks (1 pair ankle and other knee length). Long sleeve hiking top and a rain coat (mine is thicker than the tiny foldable ones though). I added a fleece zip-up
The last bit of ascent from the red metal shed to the cross at the top was the hardest part for me (took about an hour). Also, the paved sections are deceivingly steep! Closer to the cross viewpoint get ready for some rock climbing after the stairs.
Uphill is always most difficult for me because breathing is heavier. But this hike offered much relief in between the steepest parts (a few sections were 30 minutes of straight uphill where I stopped a few seconds for water and breath a few times), with FLAT sections and some downhill bits on the way up... These downhill bits then became uphill bits on the way down, but thankfully going downhill only had 3 sections that were uphill, and only 1 of those was strenuous for only 10 minutes.
Up top we got some nice views for sunrise. Saw the Atlantic coast, but I didn't find that interesting personally. I liked the views of the nearby mountains and valleys better! Also there were some distant storms, so seeing the lightning flashes between the sunrise-colored clouds was my favorite!
The clouds followed us over the viewpoint and down the volcano, so we didn't get many views of town on the way down, only up which is just the lights. The last km we were rained on heavy.
We took the $6 shuttle there and paid $3 per person for the taxi back to town. My legs were noticeably sore starting from the last hour of the hike, into the taxi, and the next few days. I brought 3 liters of water and drank a little more than 2 liters of it.

Miloslav Kučera — Google review
A very long but very rewarding hike. We started by midnight and arrived at the top at around 5 with small breaks. You’ll find some kilometer signs along the way. The way up includes some parts with no elevation or going down which was a great release for the legs inbetween. With no clouds you can enjoy a beautiful night sky. The higher we got, the colder. I definitely recommend a couple of layers that you can add once you get higher or to the top. The view was amazing. Maybe bring some coffee and your breakfast and enjoy the beautiful sunrise :)
Anna Glissmann — Google review
We came up here with a car for the sunrise. It was the most crazy car ride of our lives. The car was like a boat in the roughest storm an old sailor would face in a long lifetime. You should see some of my photos where I took some of the very rough "road". But at some point, you kinda feel like it's actually fun, like riding a machine in an amusement park but the ride just doesn't seem to end and goes on for hours.
We actually had breakfast at the top with the sunrise and it was quite an experience. The view was very beautiful but it can get really cold. I still can't believe there are people who actually hiked on foot through the night though. The view and the experience at the top was incredible, the ride was rough, and pretty cold up there in general. You should experience it once, but I don't see myself visiting there again even though I would visit Boquete if I was ever in Panama.
Htoo Myat — Google review
The summit is beautiful and the trail is great as well. However, please bear in mind the distance is at least 2km more than advertised, as the calculations are wrong in that terrain. This trail is not easy and people should be in good shape before attempting the climb, specially if one has knee problems please don’t do it.

Make sure the weather is clear when you go there
We couldn’t see any view
We got a guide to go there and got a Jeep to drive back which helped alot
Otherwise This is a hard hike
solmaz hajmohammadi — Google review
The hike to the summit is an extremely long out and back hike. 27+ kilometers combined with a significant altitude gain. Went during a cloudy day so I can't really comment on views. The trail itself is really a 4x4 access road to the radio towers on top. Even though it is a road it is still very steep for much of the hike. The best part of the hike was being able to observe the different climates/forest types as altitude increases. Overall it's a challenging but worthwhile hike.
Upon arrival at 6 AM in Isla Colon, a boat tour was taken at 9 AM to Boca del Drago alongside Starfish Beach and Bird Island. The last few days spent in Panama were primarily on the main island of Bocas del Toro, where walking around, relishing tasty Italian cuisine, taking a trip by boat to Isla Bastimentos, playing in the waves at Red Frog Beach and savoring the nightlife on Isla Colon were some of the activities enjoyed.

Bocas del Toro Province, Panama
I'll never travel to Cahuita without this trip planner again
Starfish Beach, located on Isla Colon in Panama's Bocas del Toro region, boasts a tranquil shoreline and abundant starfish. Visitors to the beach can enjoy the convenience of nearby concession stands offering refreshments and snacks. Boat tours are available for exploring other nearby destinations such as Bird Island and Boca del Drago. This sandy paradise is a popular attraction for tourists visiting Isla Colon, who also enjoy the culinary offerings of local Italian restaurants and nightlife options on the island.
We took the bus next to the park (2.5$) which leaves every 30 minutes or once is full. The ride takes around 50 minutes on a bumpy road ( they are fixing it but it will take some years until it's ready). Once you get off the bus you can walk 15 minutes or take a water taxi (1.5$) to starfish beach. The beach is very nice, the water was calm and there are plenty of starfish to see. We were lucky and saw sloths and dolphins as well. Also we had a very nice lobster for lunch for an affordable price.

Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the horrible bars and restaurants near this beach.
Beach itself was very nice, but all the bars/restaurants take zero responability in taking care of the environment. There was trash everywhere, and loud music to hide the noise of the diesel engines (to provide for electricity) in the background.
All garbage is just being pushed into the wild jungle behind these bars/restaurants. Please don't support this and avoid the beach in it's entirely for as long as this doesn't change.

This beach is beautiful; however there is a lots of garbage behind restaurants, it would be nice if municipality decide to clean it up! Lots of boats, exhaust fumes and loud music. That's unfortunate, If you want to visit better beach, red frog beach is much cleaner and nicer.

It is a place that could pass as paradise on earth. We were there today, Monday and have to say it was busy. Unfortunately, the same story here again, too much tourism and too little structure (to protect everything better) destroys everything. We did see some Starfish but there weren't many. You can also enjoy delicious food and drinks here, but keep in mind that you will be here for at least 3.5 hours (which is long by my standards) and the smell of the waste is unbearable, you can smell it almost everywhere, which is extremely disappointing. Hopefully, efforts will be made to prevent these scenes in the future.
Peter Schampaert — Google review
The beach is crowded by cheap bars and terrible music, nothing compared to the wild experience I was expecting.
You can see few starfish but I would suggest to keep on walking until the bars ends and you can enjoy some pure nature

Playa Estrella isnt the beach you go to just watch starfish. This beach has restaurants across all the beach. Your boat captain will take you to whoever he has arrange a deal with. Food is good enough but restrooms are terrible and the waiting time for the food is even worst. Still, this has to do with the restaurants and not the beach. You can probably arrange to go snorkling for starfish on a more secluded part of the beach.
Harry Quinn — Google review
Very quiet largely unspoilt Caribbean beach with overhanging palms. Most notable however for the huge number of Starfish in the shallows that give the beach its name. Easy snorkelling enables you to see these starfish in only a couple of feet of water with virtually no waves. This said starfish, fascinating as their physiology is, are hardly a fascinating watch, right up there with watching paint dry so not worth a great deal of time.
Steve Seaman — Google review
The beach was very overcrowded when I went there. There wasn't any meter without people and loud music. It does have a nice atmosphere but don't go there if you want some relaxing beach time (at least not on weekends or holidays). Also didn't see any starfish. However, if you do go, make sure to not take the water taxi but walk there from bocas del drago. This was my favorite part of the visit. It's a stunning walk and you pass a lot of private little beaches.

It is so exciting to see starfish at the Starfish Beach! After the bus ride from Bocas del Toro followed by a walk beside the stunning sea from Bocas del Drago, you will be rewarded with a very pretty pristine beach, aqua water and orange starfish. Bring your swimming costume and snorkels!

So very crowded! And with tourist banana boats. Plus, there are jellys.
They told us not to go on a weekend. I read this with so many reviews, and we had our own boat, so we could’ve gone at any time, but it was supposed to be really stormy the next few days and so we decided to go to Starfish Beach on a Sunday. Big mistake. Every bit of the charm was lost as there were giant Tourist banana boats with 10 people each, bouncing along and screaming and yelling and I know they were having fun, but it took the entire beauty of the beach away. There is something pretty awful about a giant motorized boat with a bunch of people on it screaming really loudly that ruins the atmosphere of a tranquil beach. I don’t mind the banana-boat-type-fun loud fast boats. I just think that should be reserved for areas like Myrtle Beach South Carolina or other super populated touristy places. It felt really out of place to have them on Starfish Beach. I’m quite certain the starfishes didn’t appreciate it either. ;)
We did see quite a few starfish, but again, the beach was super crowded. My son was also stung pretty badly by jellyfish! So often when the waters are calm and tranquil that does tend to be jellyfish, so be aware.
I also saw some people handling the starfish, which made me cringe a little bit. You’re really not supposed to be picking them up. Right after my son was stung by the jellyfish we left, so we did not get the chance to explore any of the restaurants our walk down Drago Beach, so it was a bit of a shame.
I’m sure the place is lovely if it was not on a weekend. Just having the really loud motorboat touristy situations was really incongruous with what a beautiful beach it was. Will I go back? Probably not, just because I know that there are jellyfish. But I really did want to go to Drago Beach, which you can walk to from Starfish Beach, and eat at one of the restaurants.
That said, It is a gorgeous beach. I’ve been to so many beaches that look very similar, but are completely deserted, especially because we vacation a great deal on small sailboats, so we go to several deserted beaches. This reminded me of the quality of that type of beach. Beautiful, warm water, sandy beach, but again, just overrun with people and the occasional jellyfish.
Gorgeous setting to have a Geisha coffee direct from their finca! Superb staff, clean, and amazing coffee detail. Road in is a bit slow going and typical Panamanian terrible dirt with holes and rocks. But once there unwind and enjoy the serenity!

Our visit to this place was to see for ourselves this site much talked about. Reports regarding this place are contradictory some say Asian and Africans came here in 600 BC, while others deny this. Here are some pictures from the site which is for a fact that they were unearthed during excavations, but no facts regarding when, where, how? Hope the archeological society takes deeper interest in this place and let the world know the real facts.

I am struggling to leave a fair review because the elderly owner is lovely and eager to share her knowledge. However do take what she (well-meaningly) says with a grain of salt and be sure to contrast her information with published scientific materials. There aren't many artifacts here and those that remain are stored in a pitiful shed. It broke my heart, really. Since this is private property they are free to provide the information and the access that they desire but the place is in dire need of a serious scientific uphaul. They provided cheese and crackers aftet the tour which were amazing. The gardens are nice, but a little wild.
This all had an amateur feel so be warned.

Edna has dedicated her life to preserving a chapter of our shared human history, for which we should all be attentive toward and grateful to learn about. Our ancestors paved the way to building the future we enjoy today, and it is largely thanks to the property owners' kind-hearted efforts that we members of the public have access to this piece of history they have unlocked for us. The passion and altruism that Edna holds is increasingly rare in today's world, prioritizing morality above profits, and legacy above all else. She welcomes you into her home to share with you not only her own family history, but also the history and happenings of both ancient and contemporary cultures, all of which deserve greater attention by Panamanian and foreign visitors alike, than any amount of wealth, entertainment, or self-centered nonsense. Please, I invite you, to put aside your concerns of today, and step back in time to a healthier, fascinating way of being, in an extraordinarily special environment and residence that rests atop the same site as our precious ancestors of Sitio Barriles. Trust me, visiting is worth your while, and I wish the very best to everyone involved. Muchas gracias!

Last week we arranged a visit to the San San Pond Sak wetlands with AAMVECONA. You can easily contact them by email but they only speak Spanish.
We chose to combine the manatee watching with an overnight stay in their bunkhouse, so we could also get to know the sea turtle conservation project. We arrived in the late afternoon and were taken by boat up the creek to the (very basic) bunkhouse. We cooked our own dinner and by 9 pm we were invited by one of the volunteers to join him on his night patrol of the beach to protect the nesting sea turtles from predators and poachers. We walked for three hours along the beach, saw many tracks but unfortunately didn't spot a nesting turtle. Still, it was a special experience to get to know the commitment of the volunteers. A bit disappointed we went to bed but early in the morning we were suddenly woken up by one of the volunteers with the news that some turtle eggs, which they protect behind a fence, had hatched. We could help release the baby turtles and watch them reaching the ocean. An hour later the two of us were brought to the viewing platform by one of the volunteers, where another volunteer had tied banana leaves to trees so they were hanging just above the water. This should attract the manatees but we still needed to be patient. It took more than two hours but eventually two manatees came to feed themselves. For about half an hour we had a perfect view on these amazing, extraordinary creatures.
We are so happy we did this tour and that we could contribute a bit to the great work of AAMVECONA and get to know their passionate volunteers. It helps a lot if your Spanish is good, sometimes we were 'lost in translation'. I'm sure we could have had much more interesting talks with all volunteers if our Spanish was better.

(Translated by Google) A spectacular place to visit and learn about the research they carry out to learn more about leatherback turtles and impressive manatees.
The San San River has a natural sand barrier that prevents the manatees from going out to sea, so they are always inside the river and can be seen from a suitable platform for this purpose. However, you should be prepared to receive bites from mosquitoes and mosquitoes that are abundant in the mangroves.
With TribuGuarumo we also went on a night trail to see leatherback turtles.
San San Pond Sak is definitely a place to go to know, support and learn!

(Translated by Google) A great place for amateur nature watchers. You can see herons, iguanas, sloths and especially manatees. The Mario guide is fine. In the evening you can swim in the Caribbean. The night is in a wooden house, there are mosquito nets in the windows, the beds are cleanly covered, the toilet is functional, the shower is rainwater. We liked it there.

Skvělé místo pro amatérské pozorovatele přírody. Můžete vidět volavky, leguány, lenochody a především kapustňáky.

(Translated by Google) This is a top organization! We saw sloths and manatees and were given an explanation about the sea turtles. When we were on the manatee platform I was even allowed to go in the boat to film the manatees underwater and I was able to see them up close, which was really fantastic! The guides are also very friendly and provide a lot of explanation. Highly recommended!

If you don't speak Spanish there isn't much information because the staff only knows a few words of English, so 1 star deducted. Otherwise everyone is super friendly and helpful, 100% recommend!!!

Playa Punta Uva is a popular beach known for snorkeling, swimming, and scuba diving. The beach boasts of crystal-clear waters and white sand. It is home to a shallow coral reef that attracts tourists from all over the world. The area provides plenty of shade during the day, making it perfect for relaxation and sunbathing. However, caution should be exercised during high season due to strong riptides and waves.
I really liked this beach. It was calm during the week, but busy in the weekends. The water was very clear and there was plenty of shade during the day.

Beautiful beach, definitely the beach to hit if you're looking for a place to camp out on. Beach front parking, you can find your own secluded spot, and the sand is some of the best sand I've felt under my toes! You will certainly not be disappointed with this beach! If you are looking for a place to hang out for the day, that is more private and secluded, this beach is your ticket. It'll be hard to find any locals selling goods, food will require you to either run a few min back into town, or plan to bring something prepared or to cook.

Lovely beach, although riptides and wavy during high season. Good amount of shady spots

Great beach.
Kid friendly and couldn’t see any rips on the day. Not much seaweed and the bottom was sandy.
Minimal vendors or people badgering you.
Kayaks available for hire. Couldn’t see any toilets or places to get snacks / refreshments.
You can also explore the cave / tunnel out at to r point. See description below:
Well worth the walk. Doesn’t take long, perhaps 15 minutes from the beach. Please wear water shoes, runners or other appropriate footwear. Flip flops aren’t going to cut it.
The first part of the walk there is a rope to help you get up because it can be slippery. Then follow the main track, taking the left path when it forks. Follow down to the point that has made a natural tunnel underneath.
To get down to the instagram favourite spot for people, be very careful. It was soooo slippery and you could easily injure yourself.
Once near the cave / tunnel, again, the rocks are still slippery even in the water. The mud on your shoes makes it worse so take the time to clean them in the water before venturing out to snap that selfie.
It’s not very deep when you wade in but there are two currents - one from each side that could easily knock you off balance.
To exit, we didn’t take the same path in, instead heading across the rocks for about 10m then climbing up.
There are two gravesites here as well. Hmmmm.
Take the chance to use other tracks to explore. You have beautiful vistas over another beach and the trees are magnificent. Keep your eyes out for toucans and sloths.

One of the best beaches in that part of Costa Rica. Get there before 10am and you have one of the first picks to back your car right up under some trees on the beach and set up camp. The pretty white fluffy sand and the pretty clear turquoise water that is fairly calm for snorkeling.

Very nice spot. The beach is beautiful and the water was clear ! There’s also a small river on the side if you’re not fan of the waves. Easy to find a spot in the shade too.

We went here on one of our excursions. We had a great long beach ride. The horses were pretty calm. Mine tried to run a little bit. Lol. The views were great along the way on the beach. There was also a dog that followed along with us for the duration of our ride. He just saw us and stayed with us until we got off the horses. He was not owned by the owner of the horses, we asked once we for back. We also had a little.extra bonus by getting off of the beach path and went into a almost farm like, county stroll. There were very few houses, massive trees, beautiful leaves and lush, beautiful green fields. Once we returned to the stable, we were able to wash our hands and what not. While we were waiting for our ride to come we were served a tray of fresh fruit and bottles of water. What a great way to end our day of fun.

Playa Chiquita is a secluded beach offering privacy and beautiful surroundings. The sandy shore is lined with trees and reefs, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. A nearby hotel provides convenient amenities. The water is calm, clear, and warm, making it ideal for aquatic activities like swimming near the coral reefs or going further out into the sea beyond the waves. Playa Chiquita boasts stunning vegetation that allows visitors to find private spots along the beach.
My absolute favorite beach. It is just stunning. The water is very calm and crystal clear so perfect for swimming and snorkeling, and the beach has a lot of beautiful vegetation so you can find your own private spots. Also a nice bar where you can drink fresh pipa juice!

This is a nice beach when the tide is out and the waves on the small side. There are tide pools that you can sit and soak in, while the small waves wash in fresh water every so often. We visited on a higher tide, big wave action day , so the pools were hard to stay in. The seas were very rough and large swell in the water. Lots of covered space under the trees. Good shade.

A beautiful beach on the coast of the Caribbean Sea in the Atlantic Ocean. The coast is lined with palm trees, trees and jungle, in the crowns of the trees you will come across howlers and parrots. The beach is sandy, gentle entry into the ocean, not very strong waves. Very quiet place, if you want to be alone, just walk a little along the beach and find a place without people. An unforgettable experience. Amazing place.

Beautiful calm beach away from the crowds 🏝 the beach is very clean and pretty! The water is transparent but there are rocks in some areas. There was a lot of seaweed in April (I’m not sure whether it is a seasonal thing)

This is an amazing find - a short walk through the rainforest and you’re on this secluded beach! Lovely, clear water and shady palm trees. No infrastructure (toilets, benches, cafes, bins), so obviously bring everything you need with you (and take all your litter with you). Lots of signs warning of rip tides so best not to swim, but there are lots of rock pools to paddle in. The tide seemed to come in quite quickly, so choose where you sit carefully!

Our hotel is close by so decided to visit this place and it takes our hearts. Nice breeze, warm clean weather and all the time waves either big or small ones. Is don’t like the waves you can go swim close to coral riffs of go further into the sea behind the waves.
Overall: very nice and beautiful beach, we always had a great time out there.

I stayed at the Secluded beach resort bungalows(directly across from the Shawandha Lodge) that have direct beach access down a beautiful nature filled path. It was the most beautiful and exciting walk each morning I got up around 6am and I would stroll down the beautiful path and encounter tons of wildlife. Each morning I was surprised by the sights: awesome sloths 🦥 howler monkeys 🙊 spider monkeys 🙉 hummingbirds birds 🐦 butterflies 🦋 a guinea pig like creature, and a small snake 🐍. Not to mention the crystal clear blue ocean and super soft golden sand, amazing coral reefs(but be careful 4 Rip currents). Playa Chaquita had very strong Rip currents that gave me a real scare while I was snorkeling the reefs. Its so easy to let your guard down when mesmerized by the hundreds of exotic fish swimming in schools in between the coral reefs. So many tropical 🐠 I would snorkel for hours on that beach. By the way I was there Oct 12-19th 2022 and the weather was perfect. I would move there in a heartbeat 💓.

Playa chiquita is a small beautiful beach that provides a wonderful setting for morning walks. Sadly a pack of 5 dogs that are known by locals for their viscous attacks on other dogs, cyclists and walkers live nearby just off the beach. This morning while walking alone my wife was bitten in the back of her leg requiring a visit to the local clinic. It is beyond belief that their owners have not been held accountable. If you do go to this beach bring a large stick, watch for groups of dogs, don't let the dogs get between you and the ocean and be particularly careful if you have pets of your own or small children. We are filing a formal complaint. Others should do the same.

So far the most beautiful beach we’ve been to in Costa Rica. Good for swimming relaxing and taking really neat pictures. If you walk 10-15 minutes from the parking lot you’ll pretty much have your own private beach. Good for families with little ones. There are some pools that are calm due to coral calming the waves in certain parts which make it good for 4-8 year olds who might not prefer the waves. Our family with little boys enjoyed jumping waves as they came in lots of places where it’s 3ft deep for about 40ft from the edge of the beach.

Definitely do not leave Puerto Viejo without a horse ride through the rain forest and along the beach. I looked into a few different places before choosing Caribe Horse Riding Club. Many of theeir horses are rescue horses and are apparently well treated here. The money they make from the rides helps them to take care of the horses. Our morning guide was Raul, and his assistant Oliver. They were a lot of fun and very informative.

After seeing all of the great reviews I thought maybe I didn't need to leave one. Regardless, my husband and I did the honeymoon ride with a massage and it was the best decision. Thank you Jimmy for everything. We noticed how in tune with the horses you are and how passionately you care for them. Polar was my best friend for a couple of hours. We also had one of the best massages of our lives with Beuaty Rituals after the ride. Thank you Caribe Horse for making our honeymoon special.

We had an amazing afternoon with Raul and his nephew. We rode along the beach and through areas of the jungle.
Raul educated us along the way helping us to find animals in the jungle.
The horses were well behaved despite unleashed dogs along the pathway. They were very easy to ride even for someone like me with very little experience.
Riding along the beach is such a bucket list. Raul accommodated us on a same day request. His horses are well loved and we learned much about his passion and love for Costa Rica as a 4th generation local. Raul is what makes Costa Rica so very special. We appreciated his words of wisdom of the true meaning of Pure Vida! Highly recommend Raul for an amazing experience.

The horse riding tour was excellent! We went on the 2.5hr tour that allowed us to take a ride through the jungle and beach. We were in a group of 4 with little experience and they were extremely helpful with teaching the basics and it helped that the horses were so well trained and knew the route extremely well. Halfway through we were able to take a break, drink some water and talk with the guide about the area. He gave many wonderful opinions on places to eat and other things in the area. He also pointed out wildlife along the journey and always made sure that we knew to duck our heads so we didn’t hit them on a branch. Highly recommend taking a tour, it is well worth the money!!!

Beautiful trail ride weaving between jungle and beach. Sloth sightings thanks to knowledgeable staff. Humble stables, unfortunate there doesn’t seem to be ample outdoor paddocks on the property for horse wellbeing. Happy horses indoors who are clearly well loved by staff. However, one trail staff was clearly unwell, visibly bleeding and suffering during the journey, requiring frequent instructions from lead guide. He was unfit to be able to intervene with horses or clients if needed, and clients were concerned about his mental and physical health. During the ride, one horse seemed to struggle walking unaided, and was thus unfortunately on a lead the whole time. Said horse accidentally tripped and fell on his knees, causing the rider to fall on the ground in the jungle. While this can happen and was not the horse or handlers fault, the guide did not adequately assess the riders well-being before asking her to remount and continue. Was a nice ride overall, however, we recommend reviewing horse welfare, staff welfare, and providing more sensitive pre ride briefings on possible scenarios (what to do if your horse trips, spooks, etc), and post ride check ins if an incident happens.

Playa Cocles is a renowned white sand beach in Costa Rica, famous for its surfing, swimming, and sunbathing offerings. Unlike nearby Salsa Brava, which has perilous breaks for surfers, Playa Cocles offers steep lefts and rights that break on the sandy shore. The ideal time to visit this beach is between December and March when the conditions are favorable. There are fewer vendors here than other beaches in the region, making it a peaceful haven.
This is such an amazing beach with the perfect waves to play in all day long. Boogie board and surfboards are available for rental along with classes. The most beautiful women spend the day here ❤️

This is the beach you should plan to spend most of your time at! The beach is full of people and activities, you can easily find surf lessons, and food can be hard by just walking from the beach! Locals will be wondering through with all kinds of homemade goodies and gifts. Locals definitely prefer to spend their day here, and you can expect to see beach games, surfers, and even fire twirlers at night! This place was our highlight for fun in the sun! The sand bar makes it easy for swimming without going out deep, be weary of the surf as the waves can be rather big and crash on the beach. You will truly enjoy your experience here!

Small surf at this beach or at the time of our visit. Only a few people out surfing. Life guards were present and kept people where they needed to be for safety. This is a big wide open beach with lots of space to spread out and not be on top of other people. Not a lot of shade as there is at many other nearby beaches. Bringing an umbrella or canopy would be an option for helping get out of the direct sunlight.

This beach is an absolute gem for adventure seekers and nature lovers. With its crazy waves, it's a paradise for surfers looking for an adrenaline rush. But that's not all; the beach also offers a breathtaking early morning walk, where the golden sun rises over the horizon, casting a magical glow on the glistening water. And when evening approaches, the sunset view is simply awe-inspiring. The vibrant hues of the sky merge with the crashing waves, creating a picturesque scene that will leave you in awe. Whether you're a surfer or simply seeking natural beauty, this beach has it all

Very long and beautiful beach with easy access to parking and nearby vendors. Might have been just the day we visited but the waves and current were too strong to swim in (even a couple of feet in) and the beach doesn’t offer any shade anywhere close to the water so we ended up leaving and going to another beach with calmer waters for swimming.

Okay beach, very strong current and big waves. Not a place for a lot of swimming.
Take a look at the trees surrounding it, we saw multiple sloths!

Very beautiful beach and huge, just absolutely giant. But there are many sections where it is too dangerous to swim because of the current and other ocean safety hazards. Food stall and board rental stands line the beach, so find one with the right board for you. At night there is music, entertainment and a merry old time. For safety, there are lifeguards all around who are constantly monitoring the beach. There is not a lot of shade, so bring plenty of sunscreen and liquids. Parking is super easy for bikes, cars, or any kind of scooters.

One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to! A must visit in Costa Rica. -but be careful!-
It is a very long, natural kept beach, with beautiful sand, a treeline with natural shadows and a lot of privacy. The water has a clear blue colour, there can be some rough waves and currents though - alright for surfing.
!!BUT THERE ARE THIEVES!!
Please be very careful with your belongings.
A young women right next to us got her bag stolen by a teenage boy. He was coming from the street to the beach, took her bag even though she was laying next to it and then started running to a white old car with a black trunk. As soon as he got in the car the driver drove off. We and a few other people on the beach tried to help her but it happend way to quick. Very sad that stuff like this still happens here, save to say - not for the first time!

Lovely beach with beautiful views. Unfortunately we were here in December and the rip tides made it impossible to swim here, the water was not clear enough for snorkeling and there was no surfing. The sand is fine and shiny with some black sand along the beach. The water entrance was shallow enough that we could go in a bit and play in the waves.
Valentina ch — Google review
Vibes were really great! The vendors that were on the street were nice and friendly.
The beach had many opportunities to rent surfboards or to play volleyball.
Water was cooling for the 30+ degree weather, and the waves were really beaut.
Playa Puerto Viejo, also known as Chino Beach, is a small yet charming soft sand beach located in Puerto Viejo de Talamanca on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica. The beach is lined with palm trees and features natural rock pools that break the waves, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and safe for kids to play. While not suitable for swimming due to shallow waters, the beach offers picturesque views and opportunities for exploration.
Beautiful beach. Not really a swimming beach though. Water only ever gets about 3 feet deep. Fun boat and lots of rock formations which are good for finding fish and crabs. They also had a few swings attached to tree branches on the shore, picnic tables, and lots of shade.

Do you like adventures, believe on pirates and are willing to get out of your comfort zone, if so...Puerto Viejo is the right choice for you.
I had the opportunity to visit this Caribbean coast with great friends who love to do crazy things, meaning climbing on shipwrecks and getting on a swing over the ocean. I did something like that in Cancun Mexico and visited the Bahamas but never ever in my life would have imagined that Costa Rica could offer the same beauty for a much lower price tag.
Puerto Viejo de Talamanca in the province of Limón ( Atlantic Coast) is an old town loaded with shipwrecks alongside the seashore. Each one of them is painted with beautiful graffities which make them extremely attractive for picture taking due to their colorful designs.
There are small stores within the coast town, a public bank and a Mega Super, which is the main supermarket. Prices are pretty affordable. Most inhabitants work in the zone, either in tourism or in the stores. They are beautiful people who won't hesitate on helping you.
The coastline has small beaches, please be aware that this area is underdeveloped, this means you wont find fancy hotels around which is sad for the town in terms of attracting more tourists, but it is great for the environment and the tourists who love to visit natural parks, wildlife refugees and reserves . Quite honestly I have to admit that even though I was born in the pacific coast of Costa Rica, it does not match the beauty of the Atlantic or Caribbean coasts of Limón.
I really hope more people, especially Costa Ricans decide to visit Limón after reading my review, but one thing is for sure, the Americans, Asians and Europeans who I met on this trip were having a blast.

Amazing mountain ranges, lush jungle and forests. High up in the mountains you get to see the páramo or alpine tundra ecosystem. You wouldn't believe such and extense and variable landscape fits in this seamingly tiny country.
These lands are considered to be of essential importance to all of humanity. It is a great place to visit and appreciate this patrimony we can all share and help conserve for future generations. In other regions you can find indigenous communities whete their traditional culture is still practice. They live very far into the jungle. Only your feet will get you there!
