Their products are also reasonably priced.
Thank you for the experience!

What a treat! I waited so long to visit and it was so worth the wait! Be sure to book a table over festive seasons as it gets jam packed !!! Amazing food and the wine pairings were out of this world! Build your own pizza and taste more wine downstairs! Amazing ! I will see you again soon!

The staff is so friendly and helpful. The waiters are highly trained and work together as a team. There is also a sweets and juice pairing for the children to enjoy while you sip on a glass of wine.
Scenic route to the winery, everything is worth the drive!

Our favorite this time of the year to roam freely within the vineyard picking our own Hanepoort Grapes, then relaxing in their restaurant for lunch enjoying our favourite Jackalsvlei Muscado wine. Absolutely Priceless...

Wonderful experience in a picturesque setting. To dine here is a must, great food and great wine. Highly recommend their wine pairings on the menu - to die for. Be sure to reserve a table when dining in, reservations not necessary for wine tasting.

Loved it. Lovely secluded and tranquil spot. It was great to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The way the wines are ordered on the tasting list, along with the curated cheese compliments, everything. We will definitely recommend it to all tourists in the area. We loved the beautiful scenery, wine and atmosphere! Great day out! Definitely worth a visit. Very affordable for the experience that you get. Make sure you get the cheese board. The experience was out of this world. Nice way to enjoy a summer day with friends and family.

Jakkalsvlei was a wonderful experience. It is definitely worth the effort to go out of your way to come. The wine tasting was phenomenal not only because of the taste and quality, but also due to the incredible views and tranquil atmosphere. Jade was our waitress and gave amazing advice for which wines to pick from for the tasting. Definitely will come back here. Take yourself a wine bottle to go!

Had an absolute blast at Jakkalsvlei! The moment we walked in the staff made us feel right at home. The waiters were not just professional but also genuinely kind.
I had my first pairing here and all I can say is they've set the bar sky-high for future wine experiences.
The pizzas. Hands down, the best I've ever had.
A regular afternoon out was turned into an unforgettable experiance. Can't wait to do it all over again! 🍕🍷✨

Amazing wine cellar/estate! Beautiful views first of all. The wine and dining experience at the restaurant is top class. Fantastic meals on offer. The wine list and options are amazing. Cosy atmosphere but also opening you up to experience views on nature while having lunch or just enjoying of the best wines around...

What an amazing experience. Loved every moment that I was there. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The moment that you drive into the establishment till the moment you find a parking spot and walk into the restaurant. They offer a wide range of pairing options for each person's preference. What is really amazing is that they offer 2 kids pairings with juice so that they don't feel left out. They have 2 really good in house craft beers. Their food was absolutely delicious. Fresh produce and flavorful. Their wine selection is really good and not badly priced. Worth the drive out and spending a few hours with family and friends.

Venturing slightly off the beaten track is well rewarded at Jakkalsvlei. The exceptional wine selection offers a great variety, and the food is truly amazing. The staff's professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness further enhance the experience, making it a fantastic option for families, even well-equipped for kids.
The overall experience at Jakkalsvlei is wonderful. It's worth making the effort to visit, as the phenomenal wine tasting is complemented by incredible views and a serene atmosphere. Our server was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided excellent advice for selecting wines during the tasting. Without a doubt, I'll be returning and I won't forget to take a bottle of wine home (check pics and videos)
The Highgate Ostrich Show Farm is a popular tourist attraction located in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. The farm specializes in ostrich breeding and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about these long-legged birds through guided tours. In addition, guests can feed the ostriches and even hold a baby ostrich. The farm also has an eatery where visitors can sample delicious ostrich dishes such as filet mignon.
From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. All of the staff were friendly and professional. Our lunch was beautifully plated and delicious. The tour was fascinating, our guide was entertaining and informative. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
David Harrison — Google review
What a great tour! Samantha taught us so much about ostriches and the farm, I would highly recommend it. Not sure if we were just lucky but generally it felt less commercial and the tour group was quite small. Also had lunch in the restaurant and again, can only recommend!
Bianca Ferri — Google review
Our guide Ben was excellent! We enjoyed our tour of the farm, getting to feed the ostriches and hold a baby. The restaurant was also great, the ostrich filet was amazing and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. It's a must stop in the area!

We stopped by here for a couple hours. You can buy some corn sacks to feed to the ostriches (we bought around 20 haha). It was a lot of fun to feed them. Be carefull with hand feeding them, they come picking at you with quite some speed haha. We thought they were very very cute. There is also a possibility to do a tour, to have dinner and there is a little shop.
Sara — Google review
I loved this visit. My husband and I were visiting from New Zealand and I told him I really want to see and hold a baby ostrich so we headed to the farm and wow it was so lovely. We did the tour and it was great learning all the awesome facts about ostriches.

it was amazing!
our guide Jean was amazing! He gave us a lot of Informations however he always tried to make jokes and bring action in. so we are able to remember this for a long long time.
you can also feed the ostriches.
thank you sooo much again!
it was amazing
Michelle Aigner — Google review
Unexpected highlight! The tour is easy to recommend because you do learn a lot about these quirky creatures and the industries surrounding them. A tour starts approx. every 40 minutes all day and they don't need to be strict about group size. If you can't find time for the tour, you can enjoy a great lunch in the restaurant and feed the ostriches (just ask for packs of feed at the till in the gift shop... They cost around 25 rand). The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the shop is full of interesting ostrich products, especially decorated eggs and leather goods.
Graham Barry — Google review
Our guide was very friendly, polite and informative. It was interesting to see everything from incubators to baby ostriches to fully grown. Feeding was also fun. There is a lot of very interesting information shared as well. Would recommend a visit.

There is so much we did not know about Ostriches. The experience is not only educational but also fun and interactive...you get to feed the Ostriches and also hold the babies if you want.
We booked the package with the classic meal. Delicious meals, starter was ostrich carpaccio and a piece of Ostrich steak with the sides for mains and a well deserved dessert.
The tour guide was great and the staff was friendly and hospitable.
Very nice chill area to eat and drink and take beautiful photos

A fantastic morning spent at this ostrich farm. We had an amazing guide called Ben who explained loads of different facts in 3 different languages. He was particularly great with the children and everyone got to feed an ostrich, hold one of the babies and stand on top of their eggs (which can hold over 120kg!)
I knew nothing about the wonderful birds before our visit but it was very interesting to learn about them and see them up close. We enjoyed it immensely.

We enjoyed a great tour led by guide Jean who shared a wealth of information clearly and with great character. Will be back.
The Safari Ostrich Farm is a family-owned farm that offers guided tractor tours, a gift shop and cafe. The farm is 1,800 hectares large and features many ostriches. The tour guide was informative and friendly with the kids, teaching them about the Ostriches while also having fun. The staff were all welcoming and helpful, making it an enjoyable experience for everyone. The facilities were clean and there were no issues with the park whatsoever.
I could not have had more fun with my kids at any other place. Our tour guide Stefan was so informative and friendly, engaging with the kids and laughing along and teaching us so much. Staff are SO friendly and welcoming, they are so amazing and helpful. Facilities are very clean, not a thing out of place, prices are very reasonable and all in all, Worth it ! Defiantly a place you would take your kids and family.

This was our second trip to Oudshoorn and an Ostrich farm. Our experience at Safari was much better than our previous trip. The ostrich tour and feeding was great with a very knowledgeable and fun guide. Had a quick bite to eat at the restaurant. Food was good and very well priced.

It is a really nice place. We went on a tractor tour around the farm and saw lots of ostriches and even some emus. The guide was knowledgable about the farm and the animals which are on it. We saw ostriches which had recently laid some eggs and the ostriches were attempting to sit on them. We also saw eggs in incubators too and the guide told us all about why they usually go into them. We also had lunch while here and the food was very tasty. The waitresses were very friendly and good with dietary requirements.

A nice experience, the ride amongst the ostriches was informative and interesting. We were fortunate to see a mother and her eggs. The shop for curios was pricey but that's expected as they're targeting the overseas market. An overall good experience.

Absolutely loved our experience with these funny ostriches!! We had such a giggle as they reached inside our safari truck and ate the food from our hand. The staff are also very friendly and it was a very informative and educational tour. The leather shop has beautiful items to buy. Definitely recommend going to Safari Ostrich Farm.

We went on a guided tour to Ostrich Farm. It was very informative. They offer lunch or dinner at the end of the tour (optional) . We tried ostrich stake, but they have other options. These birds are so huge, some are friendly and very curious birds.
They have a small museum about ostriches and families who have run the ostrich farm for decades.
Lapsy Kevreki — Google review
So fun and such wonderful birds, they were quite majestic to look at too and my gosh are they tall, I'm 6' and they were almost a feet or more taller than me, but it was fun, also remember to buy a bucket of ostrich feed to feed while your riding across the farm its worth it and is very cheap too around 5 rands so all 4 of us bought one and it made even more memorable

Did the tractor and walking tour - book online at their website for 20% off! Knowledgeable guide, fun activity, lovely place.
Comes with a restaurant serving ostrich meat, a shop with ostrich egg lamps (bought one), and the hourly tours!

The hour tour was very informative and you have a chance to touch, hear and feed the ostriches. They showed the different types of Ostriches and the chicks and which were bred for what function. Did you know an ostriches brain is a bit bigger than a golf ball?

Loved the tour guide and all the insights and info shared. Always good to be educated rather than assume we understand. Got to encounter a cheetah too, most beautiful experience, up close. Lots of interesting animals to see and read about. The ranch is also well run with very friendly staff. A must visit if you're in the area.

Fantastic place - make sure you take the guided tour of around 75 minutes it is worth it. Nice cafe. We paid extra for a "meet the animals" experience. We chose cheetah ; note that meeting cheetah cubs is extra. We saw all the animals advertised except a hiding leopard. You get very close to animals especially with the walkway over the big cat enclosures

Second visit to this venue, still in awe of how passionate this place is about the animals in their care and the conservation efforts of the team. The food was lovely.
We paid for a cheetah encounter which was incredible. We had a good safety briefing, disinfected our shoes and cleaned our hands. We had some great photo opportunities!
Lots of photos of the big cats over the boardwalk. The snake section was small but good. Meerkats super cute!
Loved the crocs - gutted it was out of season so couldn't do the dive.
We would definitely go again!

Amazing place to bring the kiddies. Slushies and candies at the store to give them their daily dose of sugar. The animals are absolutely gorgeous, very well taken care of. We got there at about 9:00, which was just around feeding time for the lions, cheetahs, and the tiger. The birds were so cute and tame, we bought some necter at the shop in small little shot glasses and you and feed them and they come flying towards you and sit on you to drinks the nectar. Definitely recommend getting a quick bite at the Turtle restaurant. The food was scrumptious, and the waitress who helped us was delightful. They have guided tours, which you can attend where they take you through the snake and reptile part of the zoo, which was very interesting. Both the kiddies and the adults will love the guided tours as well as the other animals that they have( one animal of your choice) that you can go feed and pet( you have to pay extra). An absolute delightful experience. 10/10 would go again💯👌

The chance to see so many and different animals, in such a nice environment is incredible. The fact that they protect and help endangered species multiply, makes all of it worth it more than everything. Every ticket you pay and every special ticket you buy, supports their cause.
It is a must see and family friendly.

Rural farm visit with ostrich feeding & petting, incubator tours & a chance to see chicks in season.
We went around 8am the morning. We had the best experience ever. We had a briefing on the ostriches and their life cycles. Then we went to meet the ostriches. First we met the dwarf ostriches which I never knew existed. The kids could feed them and we went right into their cage. Then we met Betsie the Ostrich. After her we went for the massages with the younger ostriches. The kids loved the total experience. After that, we ended by standing on the ostriches’ eggs. Overall a great experience with our guide, Gerrie. The kids left both with an Ostrich plushie we bought, naming them Betsie and Stoffie. They also have the cutest magnets of the ostriches there.

The tour costed R140 for an adult and lasted 35 minutes. The first half of the tour is a lecture on ostriches in a small lecture room, as well as showing the breeding cabinets which are only for display and not in use. The last half the guide showed some ostriches in pens, including feeding them and stepping on some eggs. The guide is very knowledgeable in his field and could answer all our questions. The tour felt way overpriced for what we got, and I would rather pay a little bit more next time and go to a working ostrich farm.
Rikus Swanepoel — Google review
A very nice guide explained everything to us and gave us an insight into the world of ostriches.
Take your time and look at it, it takes about 30 minutes
Erwin Kock — Google review
We recently did this tour and it was really fun. It lasts around 35-40 minutes. First you learn some interesting details about ostriches and then you get to meet some of them from really close distance. The highlight of the tour is the feeding activity where you get to hold a bucket of food and then 4-5 ostriches come and eat from the bucket. All in all recommended!!!
Konstantinos Karmiris — Google review
Underwhelming to be honest, small ostrich population, expected there to be far more. Knowledgeable and informative guide taking us round. Staff barely cracked a smile, and particularly as we had lunch there too, little or no interaction from them.

Due to having guided tours you may need to wait a few minutes before being allowed to enter. However this is well worth it as the guides are very knowledgeable and you get the chance to feed the ostriches, including feeding multiple ones from a bucket and one on its own directly from your hand. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would love to go again in the future.

Awesome I was there 20 years ago, and saw Adam and Eve.
Our guide was so funny and made our trip ine to remember.
The Cango Caves, a popular and historic network of caverns with large mineral formations, requires all visitors to take guided tours. Located in Oudtshoorn, a well-known Western Cape destination due to its ostrich farms, the caves offer stunning scenery and an informative tour led by friendly and knowledgeable guides. Although there is significant walking involved in the tour, visitors can enjoy the breathtaking views along the way while learning about the cave's history and geological features.
Had a lovely experience. The guide was well informed and friendly. The tour was fun, even though there was lots of walking involved. The breathtaking scenery took your mind completely off the exercise and humidity. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone.

Be ready for enchantment and magic as you enter into one of South Africa's oldest caves. Breathtaking beauty of well preserved ancient limestone rock formations. The tour is an hour long and the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to the preservation of this much loved cave. Take the whole family to visit. This is an incredible experience. My tour group love it, and I absolutely loved it too. My first visit here was about 30 years ago and I'm so happy I was able to visit again. Loved it!!

We were slightly late to join our group, but we had a great experience with our guide. There are 4 sections inside the caves and huge stalagmites and stalactites all around the place. The lighting makes it look even more attractive. Our guide sang a local folklore at the end and it was great too. The drive was a light tough, it’s way on the outskirts. Recommend this to anyone who’s interested to check out something new and exciting

We visited very recently with my family the Cango Caves and we did the Adventure tour. We had a blast, the kids loved it. The adventure tour is not for the fainted-hearted. You get to slide through some really narrow passes and it gives you full experience of caving. Our guide was very knowledgeable and kind and made us feel at ease throughout the full tour. If you are not claustrophobic you should definitely try this out, highly recommended.

What a breath taking experience! The caves are wondorous, the guides are knowledgeable and friendly, the education tour is very well done although a little old, the gift shop is beautiful and well stocked. The grounds are very neatly kept, and the bathrooms clean

This was an amazing experience. We had a great time . Seeing Caves like this was astonishing. The drum room were my favorite. Definitely a must do . We did the heritage tour . The adventure tour are for thrill seekers ...

A wonderful experience of this national heritage. The whole set up to the tour is excellent and efficient. I was highly impressed by the reception building and facilities they were clean and very well maintained. The caves are a true wonder and we were blown away by the history and the story of how they were discovered. Our guide was excellent. Funny and knowledgeable. I would suggest taking a bottle of water on the tour and due to COVID we were unable to book the Adventure tour which takes you through the much tighter and smaller chambers. Booking is essential if you want to get in and the tours leave every hour on the hour between 8-4pm.

Spectacular caves! We did the regular one hour Heritage tour which includes 5 chambers. The first two were amazing, one giant chamber where they used to hold concert for 1.500 people. The second one is just spectacular. The other three did not add too much.
Guides were nice, helpful and all the knowledge.

A nostalgic visit having last been there 35 years ago. We took our 14yr old son who LOVED his Adventure tour with guide Johnifer. We did the heritage tour and it was every bit as awesome as I can remember. We had too many centimetres put on over the years to do the adventure tour 🤭

Much improved from my last visit in the 90's... Now it's still a world class destination, with facilities to meet international expectations. Gift shop is not overpriced, food options are good, and the actual cave tours are highly informative and entertaining. Our guide spoke multiple languages and entertained our small group with her extensive knowledge about the cave system and its history.
Can really recommend a visit. it seems normally tour pre-bookings are not needed, but the process is fast and simple for when it gets busy.

A visit to the caves never disappoints… our guide was wonderful and peppered his information with humour.
The tour of 1 hour was the perfect length for kids to enjoy, remain engaged and pay attention!
Well worth the visit
Just remember NOT to climb on the cave walls and bridal chamber ! They can be damaged !!!

What an incredible experience. Our guide was engaging and funny. He had so many great insights to share. The Caves itself was phenomenal. The kids never got bored. They enjoyed every moment. We hope to go back and do the adventure tour sometime soon.

I have been to caves all over the world, and this one had some beautiful formations in large, open rooms. The Heritage tour was simple and easy, but way too many people were booked on the tour. It's definitely worth seeing.

The Cango caves are about 30 km outside the quaint town of Oudtshoorn. You have to book tickets online. Alistair was our guide and well knowledgeable. We did the Heritage tour which can be done with a low fitness level. Caves are well maintained with paved walkways. Price was R150 per adult and R100 for children. Bring your own food and drink since the curio shops are closed. Toilets are clean. Park at level 1 or 2, to be near the entrance.
Valerie Combrink — Google review
A wonderful experience. It is a pity that tourists broke off some of the formations in the cave. Luckily there is a bit more control at the moment. There used to be concerts in the cave, and people wandered around, breaking off formations to sell as souvenirs. They are doing everything they can to preserve these beautiful, unique caves. You can choose the leisurely hour tour or the more adventurous tour, where you have to crawl through very narrow spaces. It is a good idea to test if you will fit through the narrow spaces before you go on the tour. They've provided some wooden areas to try out before you go on your tour

Mesmerising Beauty! Must visit and not to be missed. Jaw Dropping Beauty! It's SA's oldest tourist attraction. They have guided tours. Hence, it's knowledgeable. Umbrellas aren't allowed inside. Carry torch if possible. Avoid using a camera while climbing steps in order to avoid falls.
There are narrow steps inside caves that make the journey more adventurous.
The guided tour is so well explained and tends to make us fall back in olden days.
Temperatures inside are 18 to 19 degrees.
Outside the cave is picturesque view not to be missed out.
Special thanks to our Guide Carlin, who made it more interesting with facts and was very witty.

The caves are magical. It is recognised as a heritage site and it was used by the first people way back when. The tour guide is very well informed and she made the tour fun. There are great photo opportunities. The adventure tour requires a reasonable fitness level and involves crawling, crouching, tight spaces and sliding.

We had a great experience at this place. Each session goes after an hour. We had to wait for about 30 minutes before the next session. We went shopping around to kill the time. The shops have nice things and are reasonably priced to accommodate both locals and tourists.
Our session took 90 minutes. By the time we were done, I was finished, and the water shop was situated right at the exit door to refresh. The tour was quite amazing and the tour guide was quite amazing, especially with kids. This is a great place, and I would recommend anyone visiting Oudtshoorn to make sure they visit.

Wow wow wow. Beautiful. Our guide was amazing and really helped us through the more challenging parts of the Adventure Tour. Cannot recommend it enough. Food at the restaurant is also excellent. Would go back anyday.

Excellent tour around these spectacular Caves. We did the Adventurous Tour, and as we were the only two it was pretty much a private tour. The standard tour is not challenging whereas the Adventurous Tour certainly is. Not for the claustrophobic, unsupple, over-tall, or those of a large build - there are some tight squeezes.
Restaurant, shop and plenty of car parking.
Friendly and helpful guides and other personnel.
Geoff Buck — Google review
An excellent attraction and worth the travel to Oudtshoorn to visit.
It's got a lot of historical value and the guides give a lot of explanations through the tour of the caves.
They do have some restaurants within the building so you can have a meal before or after your tour of the caves.
Joey R — Google review
Been to the caves twice now and appreciated the experience a lot more on my second visit as an adult. Beautiful and interesting to learn about their formation and it’s history. Not much else was available on our visit… no food court, gift shop or coffee areas as it was all under renovation. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
Aarti Dellwaria — Google review
We did the adventure tour, it was something spectacular to see and do, what a great experience!
Pre-Booking is essential!
I didn't get a response on their email so I just phoned to make a booking.
My two children of 8 and 12 did the adventure tour with us, they could do it, just needed a helping hand here and there to climb through the "Devil's Chimney" and the "Postbox".
In the Reception area there's a box where you can climb through to see if you will fit through the narrow pieces in the cave, I recommend doing that before you buy tickets.
Highly recommend visiting here, their restaurant has really delicious food and it's not expensive at all, would have been great if they had air-conditioning though but at least they had a fan.

Cango Caves R328 Cango Valley, Oudtshoorn, 6625, South Africa
Swartberg Pass, a 19th-century mountain road, offers a relatively short and easy ride through the spectacular Van Rhyns Pass into Nieuwoudtville. The area is known for its seasonal bulb displays and offers accommodation at Papkuilsfontein farm. A detour to Protea Motors, Oorlogskloof valley's waterfall, and a Quiver Tree forest is a must-do.
An absolutely stunning part of South Africa with the most mind blowing scenery you have ever seen. It is located in the Western Cape.
The pass is a gravel road built between 1883 and 1888 by Thomas Bain, son of the famous Andrew Geddes Bain who built Bain's Kloof Pass.
The closest town is Prince Albert, which is located 25km North of the peak of the pass.
Prince Albert is about an 11 hour drive from Johannesburg and about 4,5 hours from George.
I would advise driving up the pass in an offroad vehicle - 4x4 or dirt bike. If you decide to cycle up and down, I recommend a mountain bike, the route is manageable on a gravel bike but the descent to Prince Albert is rough and technical.
The pass has 2 sides. The first is the route from Prince Albert side. This side is rough and very rutted. Going up or down this side of the pass is tricky and technical. There are many switchbacks on this side of the route. The second side is from the Cango Caves. This side of the pass is breathtaking. The gravel road is great and pretty much smooth. There aren't too many switchbacks either.
Prinesh Reddy — Google review
Stunning views + great experience. Highly recommend a 4x4 or at least some kind of SUV. Streets are hard to drive so be careful.
Once in a lifetime experience! It was awesome but little dangerous in some parts which we would not have thought of before.
Curtis Coenen — Google review
An incredible pass that is definitely worth making a detour for. The views are out of this world. Take your time and give yourself time to stop and take in the views from the various viewpoints.
Neil Vannett — Google review
If I could give more stars, I would have. A “must do” if you want to experience God’s beauty. The gravel road is good - take it slowly and soak in the beauty. Look out for the Black Eagle’s nest, soon after you have entered the pass from Prince Albert side and where the stream runs below. It’s on the left, high up between the crevices. No eagles nesting right now.
Tami Backhouse — Google review
Stunning road up the pass. Was great with the electric Mountain bikes.

A really cool experience driving all the way to the top. It can be done in a smaller car, just take your time and remember to enjoy the views when you can.

Shane Nefdt (Bikerman_ZA) — Google review
This was my 4th or 5th time going over the pass. I traveled alone this time and it was a spiritual experience.
The road is a little bumpy in very few places.
I recommend this journey highly.

The Swartberg Pass (over the Swartberg Mountain range) is a beautiful drive! If you can - do it! It isn't paved so can be pretty dicey in places with large potholes.
It's semi-arid so lacking in large vegetation but still stunning with its unique geology and topography, so much so that much of the area is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lots of animals around to see too from snakes to lizards to monkeys.
We took the pass from Oudtshoorn in the south right up to Prince Albert in the north and really enjoyed the adventure. Also really enjoyed both those places too!
Daniel Egan — Google review
This road is a wonderful example of South Africa’s spectacular mountain passes, an inspiring engineering feat offering incredible sweeping views, hair-raising blind curves and stop drop offs. It is passable in a sedan if you drive slowly; we had no trouble at all on this gravel road in our little Suzuki Swift.
Marsha Russell — Google review
So glad that i have had the opportunity to lay eyes on this beautiful pass... a must for every South African wanting to experience the beauty our country has to offer!
Charvet Terblanche — Google review
This masterpiece of the best pass/road builder, Thomas Bain's, has now the status of a national monument. Enjoy the breathtaking view in any directions and leave only your footprints and/or tyres prints.
Leave ample time if you plan to drive this awesome pass. Stop regularly and the camera should not stop filming/clicking.
When we drove it, the road conditions where in a fairly good shape.
Yes in some places the gradient is quite steep but could be negotiated in any normal saloon car. This could change if it rains or even snows.
My suggestion is, enquire the condition before driving this magnificent pass.

What a freek of nature. Nature at it's best. A gravel road that must be taken head-on and done with gloves. The best driving experience and something that must be experience. Not a very relaxing drive, but the sceneries make up for the efforts. All in al it is a pleasant and a lifetime experience. Enjoy your drive
Pass along the N12 national road that runs through a gorge in the Swartberg mountains
The best route to George from Gauteng is through Meiringspoort in the Karoo.

I loved driving on this road and seeing the incredible landscape it crosses! This paved road is easy to get to from Oudtshoorn. The rock layers look like a movie set for an Indians Jones movie. We also LOVED Meiringspoort Falls, right off the road at the parking area. Be ready to pay a little bit — it’s so worth it!

One cannot simply pass without visiting this treasure! A brief walk of about a kilometer takes you from plentiful parking lots to the falls.
The parking lots are stunningly kept and public toilet facilities are available.
The entire area is stunningly beautiful and clearly a lot of effort goes into keeping this place that way.
If you are an adrenaline junkie, the rock jumping at this location is fantastic!
Thank you for keeping this attraction so stunningly beautiful and FREE.

Great little stop over in the Meiringspoort pass. Just a short walk from the road there is a excellent pool with clear water. A few smaller pools below to swim in. It is VERY slippery on the green moss and a slip and fall is a real threat if you have kids or an elderly person. But with the right shoes an reight attitude this was a great day out

What a lovely breath-taking scenery. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of water but still the nature and scenery is well breath-taking. To drive through is and will always be a great experience and a pleasure, just to look at the nature and lovely mountains and seroundings. Something that only GOD could create. Enjoy your visit.

The waterfall is not such a far walk from the parking area. You can see this place is being maintained well with railings and steps to make the walk easier. If you feel like taking a dive in the cool water, you can do that. There is also no fee you need to pay going to the waterfall.

A short hike is all it takes to this place of beauty. The stunning pool below the waterfall had many splashing about. The water was cool and refreshing on a hot day. It has a little room at the bottom that shows the history of the pass. And it's all free!

A friend suggested I take a detour from the N1 to Capetown and pass through Meiringspoort Warerfall. And boy oh boy was it worth it! As you approach the gorge along the N12 you suddenly disappear in between the sandstone walls on either side of the road you instantly feel so at peace. The windy road that leads to the waterfall is so breath taking and serene. Some of the rock formations have created balancing roocks that look like the sandstone has been carved by hand.
When you arrive at the waterfall site, Its a very short hike from the car park to the actual waterfall, small kids and even pensioners can manage it easily. The entire park is very clean and tidy as well.
The water in the plunge pool is ice cold, but what an experience being there!
Edward Katerere — Google review
Only a short walk to the waterfall, just a short incline at the start, but even the unfit person can do. Just hold on to the railing as the rocks can be slippery. There are toilet facilities and it is kept clean all day. There are baboons around in the parking area,so be careful . Saw one trying to get into another persons car when she opened her back door....Well worth the stop!

During our travels, we passed through Meiringspoort and was taken back by the beauty of the road leading through the mountains. Awestruck is the only word that comes to mind, and I dont think it does the pass any justice.
When there, stop at the waterfall, take a short walk into the mountain, and enjoy the waterfall.
Sam Theron — Google review
Beautiful place to visit. A bit of a walk into the mountain to see the waterfall, but quite save with rails to hold on to. You can swim in the natural pool under the waterfal. You do not have to be extremely fit to see the place! Nice clean toilets.
Adele Duvenage — Google review
Spectacular drive on Route 62. The rockery on either side of the road looks so magnificant. Stop at the sign with the waterfall, the other stops have clean toilets and a table to eat but no access to the falls. It's a short walk, for persons with limited mobility rather have a walking aid and take a slow walk. The rocks around the falls can be slippery, shoes with a grip are preferable. Swimming is not allowed, but some people did take dip. There is no entry fee and no access control to the falls.
zainub jooma — Google review
Wow, such a short walk for such a great sight! The steps lead up, along the mountainside a short ways, then onto water worn rocks, opening up to the waterfall. The rocks on the last little bit before the waterfall are slippery, and I can imagine it would be tricky to navigate when wet.

A family dairy business in Prince Albert. We were offered a cheese tasting. Such lovely service. Thank you Clive. The cheese was delicious. Especially the milder ones like the mozzarella and the Royal Mild.
Lovely artisanal bits on offer like dish clothes, soaps and stuffed toys. Just beware that the milk and dairy products are unpasteurized.

Very disappointed with this place. Was expecting to visit a working cheese factory but nothing available to see on the day because we were supposed to have made reservations in advance ( only once we got there) - never saw anything written about advance booking. It just seemed to be a locals shop for off the farm milk etc.

Karoo National Park, located just outside Beaufort West in South Africa, is a stunning destination offering rugged landscapes and unique wildlife. Established in 1979, the park is part of the Great Karoo ecosystem and boasts breathtaking semi-desert scenery with Nuweveld Mountains as its backdrop.
Photographs cannot do justice to this spectacular landscape. A different experience to the KNP as animals are scarce, this Park is clean and well run. We stayed at Afsaal cottage in the Park, totally off-grid with a water hole in front of the cottage, it was an amazing experience. Afsaal cottage is well thought out, however if, like me, your idea of a torch is your iPhone, this may be too rustic for you.

We spent 4 days in the park and did something different everyday. Kids had a ball playing in the pool. You could see some of the animals from the cottages. Our guide Jan gave us an amazing safari drive. Overall everyone was super friendly. The breakfast was the only underwhelming thing but the staff in the restaurant where great. Loved the idea of the picnic spot and second pool being part of the self drive safari.

We camped for one night. The chalets were fully booked. The ablutions were always clean. Seems too few showers and toilets for the entire camp but that is my view. There is a communal kitchen with 2 plate stoves, microwave, deep freezer as well as constant hot water. There is a coin operated washing machine and dryer. Experienced that there were never enough toilet paper so I suggest to take your own as a back up. The resort is well maintained and clean. The cafeteria is well stocked and staff were very helpful and pleasant. There is a restaurant as well for all to use. Roads are in excellent condition. I witnessed the Rangers spotting rubble and stopping to go and pick it up.

Great experience. Reception was warm and easy to process. Chalet was ready with everything in working order, not like Kruger National Park. Self drive routes well marked. Saw quite a few of the wild animals. Fossil route well maintained and marked. Interpretive centre with good displays of the history of the area and park.

For most visitors the Karoo National Park seems to be a one or two night stop over on the way to, or from , Cape Town. The accommodation is not luxurious but quite comfortable and has everything you need to self cater. Breakfast is included in the price and the evening meals are tasty, satisfying, but basic. These are at an extra cost and the majority of visitors enjoy their evening own braai. The chairs in the restaurant are terribly uncomfortable which is one downside.
We were fortunate to experience a Karoo thunderstorm and real downpour from the heavens. This is an exception, as it’s usually constant sunshine. There’s an excellent fossil trail to follow, a self guided hike, and a longer hike which is guided and can be booked. Close to the campsite is an excellent museum.

What a beautiful place. Such a convenient stop driving from the Westcoast back to Gauteng.
Bird and animal life in abundance. A big pool to cool down in on hot days. Little shop that stocks most of what you may need for a braai, breakfast or toiletries. But Beaufort West is quite close and a short drive should you need something in town.
The chalets are cool, well equipped and maintained with all the basic cutlery and kitchen ware you may need. Nice porch with chairs and table to relax and drink in the beauty of the surrounds.
The restaurant is a must, with awesome staff and delicious food.
An absolute paradise for birders.
Roads in the park are well maintained and a pleasant experience.
Will definitely visit again

Beautiful clean Chalets and stunning environment with very interesting species... my only complaint is the staff drive too fast in the Reserve and make it unpleasant for the high paying guests..

Such a beautiful place. Peaceful.
Typical national parks accommodation. Friendly staff. Loved our stay here.
Home to many endangered species, this park offers a variety of accommodations, plus flyfishing.
We recently visited Mokala National Park for the first time, and I cannot believe how under-rated the park is. It is one of the most tranquil parks with such incredible serenity and beauty. We are regular Kruger Park visitors and Mokala can easily be compared to Northern Kruger’s peace and tranquillity. The diversity of wildlife, birdlife and habitats were breathtaking. We stayed at Mosu lodge (and even though the restaurant is no longer in existence) the camp was lovely with very warm and friendly staff. We will without a doubt be returning to this gem of a park.

What an excellent park a gem which is underutilised. The campsite has only 6 stands which is very nice. The private ablution is spacious it is only the roof at the breakfast nook that need some extension if it rain, which we had a lot. The park will see us again in the near future.

We enjoyed the game watching very much! The picnic areas are clean and neat, and the toilets were clean, had toilet paper and running water.
Accommodation at Mosu Lodge was good. Beds are comfortable and there are enough blankes to stay warm at night, and the units have aircons. Kitchens are well equiped. There is a generator, so loadshedding is not a problem.
Marry Purcell — Google review
What a gem we've discovered! We were referred by a friend and can't thank her enough... We thoroughly enjoyed each moment of our comfortable stay at Mosu Lodge and our extremely rewarding game drive at Mokala National Park. Our unit was situated close to the water hole and we could sit and watch game coming to drink water - until late. The unit was a comfortable, well-equipped and an impeccable home-away-from-home.
Animals are plenty - and the variety impressive. The staff excelled and we need to mention the most accommodating Receptionist - if I recall correctly, her name is Emma. She was just so helpful - even provided us with an power extension to keep our fridge running in our vehicle. Parking at reception and having to use miniature trolley's/trailers to transport luggage to the units, were new to us :-) At least we had some exercise! The only 'draw-back' would be the bad condition of the corrugated road one has to travel - but the superb destination justifies the drive. We will most definitely be back to this very, very special park...

Brilliant National Park! Book the Motswedi Tree Top Cottage for a romantic and excellent stay. We didn't even need to go on a game drive as the animals came to us...
Vanessa Raath — Google review
This is a beautiful park with a lot of wildlife. We drove from the Lilydale gate and immediately saw various animals on the short drive to Lilydale rest camp. From Lilydale to Mosu rest camp is about an hour's drive, so be sure to have time when visiting the park. Will recommend spending about two days in the park to truly experience it.

Wow, what a great nature reserve and museum. Great monuments and a really good video of the battle. I really thought this was worthwhile.
Nick Dempers — Google review
The journey to the battlefield is on an unmade road approx 10-15km. There is a small cafe and a museum on the site, also a short film detailing the battle. Along with lots more information.
Bob Rouse — Google review
A very small but well kept museum in the middle of the greater Magersfontein Site . It's a military museum so it's packed with the details of the many battles and all the key individuals and parties involved in these battles .
There is also a little Cafe that serves good food and much needed cold beverages.
Mzo Hlanjwa — Google review
This is a fascinating South African battlefield site, with enough to see to even keep those not interested in battlefields entertained. Unfortunately the site is terribly managed. After driving 10 kilometers on a badly maintained gravel road, the lady at the gate turned us away because we did not have cash. Apparently the card machine was broken, and she would not let us go pass because her "boss was checking on her via the surveillance cameras". So you have electricity to check on your employees, but nothing to help tourists? Bad customer service. After driving back to Modderfontein, to draw money at the world's dirtiest ATM, we were met with contempt at the gate. The lady at the gate did not have change for the R100.00 we just had to drive 20 kilometres to obtain. When we reached the restaurant, we were welcomed with a sign that said they accepted no credit cards. How is it possible for any business to STILL not accept cards or even Snapscan in the year 2022??? The lady at the restaurant was as useless (only more rude) than the one at the gate. We were presented with a little pamphlet and nothing else. No information, no tips as to how to navigate the site - just a cold stare. The site itself is massive, perfect for shorter hikes. However, the signage is terrible and we got lost with our small vehicle on some dodgy roads. There is great potential here, and the history of the highland brigades is genuinely a moving story. However, the disinterested staff make this an unpleasant experience.

One of the only places in Bloemfontein that is still so well maintained. This museum, gallery and park is gorgeous. The gallery always had incredible exhibitions and you can take a hike too.

the place is really beautiful for picnics and relaxing days, i wish they had more art to show. overall it's a very friendly place
Mapaseka Ralehana — Google review
The place is worth visiting. To appreciate the work of others and unwind outside, while enjoying the view of outside sculptures and the feeling of outdoors. The place could really use a restaurant or at least a cafe because, after exploring different parts of the museum personally I was worn out and needed a drink or something sweet to recharge.
What I've noticed about the museum is that they give people an opportunity showcase their craft, if that is not the reason then I suppose they can do better because some pieces weren't all that if you understand what I mean.
The best highlight for me was the section for blind people, yes if you have a blind friend(s) or a family member who appreciates art, then allow them to tag along!
Fyi: there are cats and the ones at the back love attention #smiles

Entrance used to be for free. Now its R10 per vehicle. I really dont mind as I know they need to keep the maintenance up on the garden. No where there was signs up that visiting the gardens has changed from free to paying. Only at the gate at arrival. So what about the people that come to visit that knows entrance are free? But...
What upset me the most I wasn't even allowed to use the bathroom when visiting there. (Yes I did pay the R10 to visit the place) Plus I am a expecting mother.

The Big Hole in Kimberley is a massive diamond mine pit that was dug by hand in the 1800s. It has a storied past and is now a world-class tourist destination thanks to the R50 million investment from De Beers. Visiting the site offers an honest impression of the mining industry's checkered history in Kimberley.
Great experience and awesome view of the Big Hole. There is also a restaurant with live music on site. At the entrance is also a Vintage Tram and for R10 they take you for n 15min ride. Kids loved it.
You can also choose to take a tour with guide or explore on your own.

I was visit big hole 7 years ago, but recently visit I can see there is a lot of improvement and upgrade.
Big Hole is considered one of the deepest man-made hole in the world. The price for entrance is very fair, I really enjoyed the view on the platform, you can see the big hole in different angles and see the city of Kimberley.
20 minute short movie will give you brief history of diamond mining.
I am highly recommend this historical place. There is a guide tour if you need to understand more depth history. After the tour, there are some curio shops and a restaurant at the visitor center.

This is still an 'unbelievable' sight to see. Ensure to opt for the full package which includes the tour. The amount of information is not overwhelming and for those that would like to know more can spend time reading all the information in the museum.

David, our host - was well informed, spoke with great enthusiasm and kept our attention - though he didn't need to. The place is remarkable. the legends, stories, history and facts are mind blowing.
It is very warm in Kimberley - so come prepared. The people are super friendly (challenge to you PE!) - it's very clean, COVID protocols are still in place and very safe.
I swear - if this delightful town had a beach - it'd be paradise.
Thank you Kimberley Dave!

It was a great experience! Anyone who is even mildly fascinated with history would really love the tour and 20-minute movie that teaches you more about the historical significance of this place! I would highly recommend going towards the earlier after because they closed up earlier at some kept points of the tour from 4-5 and have an alternate route that isn't quite the same experience as it would be normally. Still a great experience, though either way!

What an informative and rich experience , we attended the last tour which was at 3pm , the tour included a 20 min video of the history of Kimberly and Diamonds, thereafter a informative guided tour to the big hole and the under ground mines , and finally the volt. The tour guide David was amazing...
Unfortunately the tram was not working however we did enjoy a lovely stroll through the old town...
You can indulge in a mini photo shoot at old prison cells, the photographer is the sweetest....

We didn't have time to tour the entire mine. We paid R70 per person to only see the hole. You get a blue wrist ticket, which shows that you are restricted to the hole(the actual hole) area only. I think it's about R140 per person to tour the entire mine on the surface and underground. There are museums, gift shops and a coffee shop. Remember to wear comfortable shoes..

If you want to grasp the essence of City which sparkles this is the must see hidden gem in it's roughness☺️...My childhood playground 💝First time with my in-laws after the mine museum has been revamped. What an awesome experience my feet on that platform over looking the Big hole and the city afar...finally able to see with a naked eye where the enterances sit on the hole of which woman and children took shelter in during #The seige of Kimberley.Pity I just could not purchase a ticket from the first tram driver💔so I took a pic at the office step where they used to be sold with him in my heart and all my memories which have became a part of this well known tourist destination💛Iam still very proud to say that he was my Dad(Mr V.B.Williams) and sadly passed on due to illness five years ago.Kindly in memory I will share his picture surely this post will touch the hearts of those he was able to so many years ago,may he continue to rest in perfect peace🙏🏼Informative tour guide(David) great demonstration of historic tools and verbal explanations on most of the important events which lead to the mines existence in detail you kept the group enlightened and it was awesome to participate in little drills making us experience what it was like being a child, woman, man in that era... keeping us all eager and safe leading us down the mine shaft and up again ...to see what lead had to the Kimberley Gold Rush🤭Well done and thumbs up to a lovely experience, personally I enjoyed the mine shaft...chlaustrophobia has been cured🤣👏🏼👍🏼History has been re written 💯
I just wonder where the well is...I couldn't make a wish💰 at only thing that bothered me...the one people use to drop coins in behind where the 🚆 train use to be...I might have missed it situated elsewhere in the perimeter of the museum.

The Big Hole, Kimberley, is a place to visit when interested in the history of diamond mining in South Africa. Starting in the 1867 when a 15 year old picked up a shiny pebble along the banks of Orange River. The diamond rush that followed, with several fortune seekers around the world flocking to Kimberley to dig for diamonds. The Big Hole is considered one of the deepest man-made hole in the world. The history of diamond mining is entwined to the political events that shaped the South Africa we know today.
A visit to The Big Hole is worth a while as it also features a timeline of key events in the history of South Africa and the world in relation to mining.

So sad, just a shell of what it was 20 odd years ago. Saddest part was not being able to let my daughter find some gems in those panning stations they had before. There is a restaurant area to the left of the main entrance but it is not advertised very well. The little cafe inside isn’t worth eating a big meal at. Some old ladies inside the main tourist shop still holding the fort. Glad I went.
Absolutely an amazing place!!!!! Would recommend it to everyone. They are friendly, helpful and go the extra mile to make your experience something you will never forget!! Amazing people, delicious food and incredible interactions with these amazing animals!!

The place is great, specially for animal lovers. Perfect for a location event, has play area for kids as well. I didn't like the food prepared for us but that might just be a preference issue. The road going to the place is very bad, people going there would benefit if they use off road cars.

We had the amazing privilege today of a Private Tour around Bagamoya Lion Sanctuary with the owner Botha.
An unssuming man with a law degree.. His passion for his animals radiates and soon as you meet him.
The Sanctuary is a safe haven for rescued animals, which means it's a NO KILL shelter, he looks after them as though they were his own children, with such passion and enthusiasm.
His knowledge about each and every animal is unbelievable. He can tell you before you enter into the cages which animal will take a liking to you and which you might not. His two Cubs that you are allowed to play with I have no words to describe. Well behaved and lil bit naughty but at end of the day just want to be loved.
Botha, it was and honour to meet and spend the day with you learning about these animals and I am truly humbled by the work that you and your wife do for them everyday. From the lil Cubs, to the teenagers to the older Lions as well as the Cheethas, Leopardas and Caracals.
We cant wait to come and see you guys again with the progress you have made on the bird sanctuary, as well as well as all the other plans you mentioned today to me.
My sister was in her element for her birthday and for that I thank you.. I cannot think of another present that will beat this one. I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you soon again
This is a highly recommended Private tour with a 15/10 from me.... this far outcede my expectations and you can see by the photos.

The Sun City Resort offers refined accommodations with access to outdoor pools, two water parks, and various dining options. The staff is friendly and respectful, ensuring a pleasant stay. The Valley of Waves offers an enjoyable experience for guests. The breakfast is exquisite and the service excellent. Cabanas are used as a base for guests and offer more than adequate rooms with numerous channels on the big screen television. Shuttle vehicles make getting around the resort easy, making it hard to leave this wonderful destination.
We used Cabanas as our base. What a lovely surprise. The staff were fantastic. Although only breakfast is offered (05h30 to 11h30), it was comprehensive enough to last you through 24 hours. It was incredibly quiet when we went during school holidays. Probably because the general entrance fee for Sun City has increased dramatically, now R395 per adult. It includes R80 meal voucher and access to The Valley of the Waves but compared to the R80 entrance fee a couple of years ago… still lovely place and first time we saw the Lost City which was amazing. The casino was very small and limited. Also very quiet.

Stayed at the Cabanas. Beautiful room at the lakeside. Just a little note though carry your own shampoo. They still provide soap and shower gel but not the shampoo.
The air conditioning in the Casino was either off or not working, so it was really uncomfortable. I guess that worked in our favour as we were forced to spend a lot less time in the Casino.

Check what events are hosted before booking!!
I absolutely love the Palace. It’s one of my favourite places on earth! African splendour at its finest. The staff is exceptional! The service is the best!!
BUT please check if any events are hosted at Sun City before booking and coming here!
I am currently lying in a beautiful pool facing room and the music playing at another hotel/Valley of Waves has been disturbing for 3 nights!! My toddler just woke up screaming as it’s sounds like WW3 with fireworks going off!! As The Palace sits on the hill, everything can be heard and seen from here.
Relaxing at the Palace Pool was a disaster today. People drunk, smoking and some women lying with bare breasts hanging out for all to see. AT THE PALACE!! The smell of weed made us so sick, our whole family (which we brought here for their first time) had to pack up and leave!!!
This is our 3rd time here THIS YEAR ALONE in 2023. We have been regular guests since Feb 2021.
It’s disgusting that this type of behaviour is allowed at The Palace. Can Sin (yes sin not sun) City please not allow these events’ guests to book at the Palace? We decided to leave the Palace grounds to have dinner somewhere else and one of the Palace guests drove around in his Lamborghini, kids in the car and drinking straight Jagermeister out of the bottle while driving.
What is happening to this place?!
I truly feel sorry for staff working here as I also witnessed them being harassed by these guests.
We will be coming again in Feb 2024. As regular Palace guests, I hope this will not happen again

A Stellar Five-Star Experience at Sun City Resort
My recent visit to Sun City Resort left me utterly impressed and thoroughly satisfied, deserving nothing less than a glowing five-star review. Nestled in the heart of South Africa's North West province, this iconic destination offers a blend of luxury, entertainment, and adventure that surpassed all expectations.
Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the resort's grandeur and beauty. The lush tropical gardens, shimmering pools, and stunning architecture created an atmosphere of relaxation and indulgence. The warm welcome from the staff further enhanced the experience, making me feel like a valued guest from the moment I stepped foot on the property.
Accommodation at Sun City Resort is nothing short of luxurious. I had the pleasure of staying in one of their beautifully appointed rooms, complete with modern amenities and elegant furnishings. Whether lounging on the plush bedding, soaking in the bathtub, or admiring the views from the private balcony, every moment spent in my room was pure bliss.
One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible variety of entertainment options available at Sun City Resort. From world-class casinos and vibrant nightlife to thrilling water parks and championship golf courses, there was never a dull moment. Whether I was seeking relaxation or adventure, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Fine dining options are not good which is surprising in view of everything else on offer. Most are fast food orientated, ideal for families but not those adults with. a more discerning palette. Don't get me wrong it's ll edible but disappointing.

We were staying specifically at Cabanas and shared photos of some views. Overall, we had a good time, thank you. I do think the rooms for that price is fairly standard. The view is however stunning. There are areas of maintenance like all places. The music by the pool is extremely loud.
Sun City was great. We love the central part of the restaurants and grateful that Spur has a play area for little kids. The arcade is also super clean. Well done! We were very quick in by the Valley of Waves, where we enjoyed the Lazy River and child Adventure area.

The resort is absolutely beautiful it has great room service. It is child friendly, and it does not allow pets to make this resort absolutely amazing because it is quite accommodating to most people it might upset pet owners who like taking their pets with them on vacation, but i notice this rule is protect everyone and make sure they all have a five star experience because you can not control animals a hundred percent so them not being prohibited from the establishment was a good the resort is a perfect place for a to take a holiday
It has all kinds of entertainment for different kinds of people and for such a beautiful place its prices are quite affordable

The shuttle services take long but I loved the feature.
There is genuinely a lot of fun stuff to do.
We booked in the Cabana’s and the staff there is unfriendly. Almost as if they being forced to serve us & not helpful at all.
On arrival the lady at reception didn’t not want to give us a porter for our luggage. We literally had to call someone who just came back from assisting another family to help us take our luggage down to our rooms.
There was no hot water!
We kept complaining, and all they could tell us is that they going to refer it to maintenance but nothing was ever resolved.
How terrible is it to be swimming all day and not being able to take a hot shower after a full day of activities.
When we went up to eat breakfast, the woman who was checking our cards was so disrespectful and failed to assist us, baring in mind that I was with my 90 year old granny.
The management at the Cabana’s really need to step up their service delivery

We were received by friendly people, the general vibe was exuberant. The breakfast was delicious. Lots to do, a wide variety of restaurants. The premises around Sun City are very beautiful you can go for long relaxing strolls and swims. A real go-to place for a quick break away.

They have heated pools now.
Stayed at the Sun Vacation Club.
It's a home away from home with all the amenities in your accommodation.
Excellent service from the cleaning staff.
Plenty of activities for all ages.

It depends where you booked your accommodation. My first visit was at the Cascade it was excellent but now booked SOHO.
SOHO accommodation is not as clean as expected. The bathroom and toilet were not clean. Needs improvement, though I complained little was done to clean up the place to my satisfaction.
Ordered room service the food was not so good.
The conference room was very cold even though we requested several times to adjust it, it was still the same.
The food at the conference centre was top class and the service was excellent they know how to cater for large groups.
Bathrooms at the conference centre were very clean and well kept throughout the duration.
SOHO Breakfast was also excellent and service exceptional excellent.

It is still a magical place. Unfortunately no one informed us that our visit would be during the "Sun City Takeover".
Drunk and promiscuous people everywhere. Not conducive to a relaxing family weekend. I emplore Sun City management to inform families when booking over the "Sun City Takeover." The choice/ info would have been nice.

It was beautiful and quiet. The rooms were cleaned every day, which was great. The shuttles moved around often and efficiently. This made it easier to move around the resort with children.

Rooms in the palace need a upgrade. Service was good but had no kids facilities or activities on site which is not acceptable at this price point. A full kids program and safe environment near their parents with trained minders is desperately needed to make it a acceptable destination and give parents a proper break.

Beautiful experience. Beautiful scenery. Enough for every age group to do. Fun activities. Would have been a 5 star however the roads going to the place were horrible. And 6/8 people we travelled with ended up getting sick either with a tummy bug or viral bug. Not sure if it might be the water (pools or at the valley)or the food but that was definitely the down side to our trip.

Rooms: 4 stars - Stayed at the Cascades. The rooms are a bit old, but still comfortable. Had a problem with the shower, but it was fixed quickly without any fuss.
Service: 5 stars - The staff are brilliant, always helpful and sorted out my issue fast.
Location: 5 stars - The resort is surrounded by beautiful nature. Just a heads-up, the roads leading to the resort have lots of potholes.
Food and Fun: There's a great choice of places to eat and lots of fun stuff to do, but some cost extra.
Overall: Sun City's a bit old and some things, like the Sky Train, don't work. But they're working on making it better all the time. It's a great place that's well worth a visit.

Service isn't the problem, sun city staff trying their hardest to keep clients happy but can't even get a drink at 4am in the morning when gambling, because of their rules and regulations. It's a resort why wait till the weekend, only 24 hrs then very disappointed birthday girl.

Overall, my experience at Sun City was nothing short of extraordinary. From the luxurious accommodations to the unforgettable pool experience, every aspect of my stay exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Sun City to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway!!
The Valley of Waves is an exciting water park that features a lazy river, thrilling slides, wave pool and children's area with lifeguards. It offers a wonderful experience for families looking for fun outings. Visitors are advised to try out every water slide, and they can keep their small valuables safe by renting lockers (cash only) or umbrellas. Payment at the park is made using cards only when purchasing snacks or food.
Best place for family, kids love the waves.
It is very clean. There is Steers and Brew Monkey if you need something to eat or drink.
NB: no alcohol allowed on the beach there are designated area.
If you forgot your towel don't worry they have a rental shop where you can rent clean towels and lockers, Lots of entertainment and fun

I found the location to be quite delightful and rejuvenating. My family and I were able to experience all of the available rides and particularly enjoyed the lazy river.
It's worth noting that when renting a locker, only cash is accepted. The Family locker is priced at R350 including a R100 refundable deposit and the standard locker is R250 also with refundable deposit.
We left most of our belongings in the beach area and were pleased to find them untouched upon our departure.
I would like to extend my appreciation to the lifeguards on duty for their diligence and commitment to ensuring the safety of all guests.

Great place. We had so much fun. I just wish there could be a heated pool for the young ones. The water does get to be a bit cold at times. Other than that we had fun. The life guards by the slides where so helpful. Also it should be noted that visiting during weekdays is best as it gets crowded over the weekend.

Amazing fun, the wave pool was so nice, but I went in the wrong month 😂, the water was freezing but it was still fun nonetheless nice Ambience and I like the sand they used too, gave it a nice artificial realistic beach kinda vibe too and the slides too were really fun

Absolutely Gorgeous! It never disappoints. Went with Friends last year and Family this and it still had the same effect. Totally enjoyed my day visit and will certainly be making it a norm yearly. Totally worth the visit without a doubt! Oh I love the greenery too!

Valley of the waves was one of the fun sites that I visited on my trip to the Sun City resort in South Africa.
It has the beach feel with animals crafted from rock/mud and some satisfying sound playing subtly in the background.
It's an amazing place to visit with friends and family.
There's a lot to eat and drink too.
Different water bodies and a pool that I believe has artificial waves.
Overall, it's an experience that I would love to have again!

R450 entrance fee is steep and food is expensive. No food or drinks may be taken in.
It’s a most enjoyable day though! Sand is quite rough but the wave is good fun and the water slides are excellent - from gentle to blow your hair back!!

Best place to be anytime of the year. Feels like you on an island 🏝 There's a bar, some restaurants, zip line, slides, tube floats and more. It's just a vibe.

Wonderful Experience!!! Enjoyed every moment at the valley of the waves. Ensure you try out every body and tube water slide. Highly recommended for a fun family outing, Safe lockers available for small valuables, also beach umbrella's available to rent... ensure you carry Cash and your Cards regarding for payment as to rent a locker/umbrella cash is required and to purchase general snacks or food cards only are used for payment. Another tip would be to have a water proof action camera to capture your fun moments in the water riding some waves or trying out the water slides.

When the sun is out and you want to play as a family, this is the place to go. Sun City truly is a world within a city. So much to do; Valley of Waves, water slides, water skiing, quad biking, garden walks, etc. Bit pricey for a day visit though (R450 for adults and R350 for children up to 12years old in October 2022). The fee did include about R80 per person food voucher that can be used in the restaurants. Lots of parking available.

Loved, loved, loved 🥰 this place. One of the best man-made beaches I have seen. It’s well thought through with the ancient/ lost city feel. We loved the maze though the bridge was a bit too wobbly for those with height issues. Not sure about the cement floor at the valley of waves because our girls kept scraping their hands, elbows and all. We didn’t want to leave. The waves were intermittent at some points though.

We had a wonderful day! Feet were painful. Some steps at the super tube rides lost its surface.from.erosion through the years. The beach sand felt like pebbles under our soles at the end of the day. Most of the shops were closed as well as the beach bar.
Wish we knew about the hiking trails earlier on and that you don't particularly need hiking equipment to follow the trails. We discovered the Royal Baths, which we never saw, and some other parts we never knew existed.
We also missed out o the actual waves. We found ourselves always out of the water when it came. Wish there was a timetable of some.sorts so we can know. Even though it is said every 90 minutes, it felt longer.
Anita Nel — Google review
Spent a few hours here with my family at the water park and due to low season we were able to ride the slides to our hearts content. No lines. The wave pool was fun. The entrance to Valley of the waves is really spectacular. There are lots of dining options before you go into the Valley of the Waves. They will give you a stamp to go in and out. Definitely worth visiting.

Amazing, fun for the whole family, whether you are old or young, you are guaranteed to enjoy. There is a variety of water activities, from the waves at the main beach to water slides and much more.
There are various food outlets, including vendors, so there is no need to leave the premises if you want to enjoy a snack or meal after or before swimming.
They do, however, only accept card payments and not physical cash.

Great fun for the whole family.
The main feature is the huge wave pool, but there are plenty of water slides and other attractions, as well as access to the Sun City entertainment centre.
The huge wave pool is surrounded by a large forest with plenty of trails to explore.
An absolute must see.

A great day out for family entertainment, it provides something for all ages.
Various rides for the adrenaline junkies through to relaxing rides for the whole family.
The wave pool provides for a sense of the sea hundreds of kilometres from the Indian Ocean.
Can get really busy so recommend visiting during the week.
Bruser NZ — Google review
Was a great day out for both kids and adults. Would recommend investing in wet shoes as the ground gets super hot as you walking between rides. It was crowded when we visited as it was during the festive season, was a manageable crowd. If you come during busy season, arrive early to get a spot that allows for shade or be prepared to rent umbrellas during the hot season. Prices for food are a tad exorbitant (expected), you do however get a voucher (below R100) when you buy a ticket so that ar least helps with meals and snacks. Book ahead of time during peak season as tickets sell out rather quickly. Would definitely go back, perhaps during quiet time. Waiting time for the rides was actually not long, also depending which ride you want to get on. Wave pool was a favorite all-round, everyone was friendly and helpful...even played water volleyball as people waited for the big waves.

Pilanesberg National Park is a vast game reserve spanning over 550 square kilometers and home to more than 7000 animals. The park is situated in an eroded alkaline crater between the Kalahari and wet lowveld vegetation, providing a picturesque setting for viewing South African wildlife such as lions and buffaloes. Originally designed as a weekend escape for city dwellers, Pilanesberg remains a popular destination for day-trippers seeking to explore the park's natural beauty.
My second trip and really worth the trip, beautiful landscapes and saw many different animals. There are lookout points with clean toilets which is the only place permitted to get out of your vehicle due to the wild animals. I can't wait to go again.

My partner and I had such a good time (self-drive) at the park although it took us hours to see anything but at the end patience worked in our favour. I am definitely going back for a game drive. I just wish some of the roads can be fixed and the toilets inside the park be cleaned regularly.

Beautiful quite game reserve with some great game and stunning birds. A reasonable drive from Joburg with upmarket accommodations just outside the park. Only major negative is that the roads can be worse for wear which can be tough especially on the dirt roads in a car.

I would recommend it to everyone; the experience was great. we were a group of 9. We saw lots of elephants and both black and white rhinos, along with rhinos. The restaurant area is so cool because you still get a good view to spot animals.
Bring drinks for the drive, but water is provided, which i am absolutely grateful for as it was kept cold in the cooler.

Beautiful park with endless animal sightings. Had a very close encounter with elephants which was amazing! It's rich in bird life and we were lucky enough to spot so many animals only the leopard remained elusive. Lunch was nice, had a tasty ostrich burger while still enjoying wildlife from the resturant! This park is definitely worth visiting its truly a gem

The scenery is breathtaking and patience rewards the game viewer. There is however an air of neglect regarding maintenance and standards at the facilities. How different the reserve would be if some thought was applied to making the experience more tourist friendly. More effective management would make the place more desirable and more people would visit and more money would be spent.

Thank you very much to my colleagues for arranging this trip before I return to my home country. Pilanesberg is a very worthwhile park to visit, where you can see animals such as elephants, giraffes, and zebras. You can enter the park in an off-road vehicle, and many animals pass by. You can observe up close, which is really an exciting experience.

Brilliant national park! Pilanesberg has clean restrooms at all the bird hides, all the roads are in a fine condition after all the rain (they are currently fixing potholes), the animals are beautiful and healthy.
It is well priced for day visitors.

I absolutely love this place. If you love safari, I would recommend this place over Kruger National Park any day.
Instead of being faced by ridiculous prices and long drives just to see nothing. You'll find this place booming with wildlife!
You'll have a great chance of seeing the Big 5, and it's close to Sun City if you have an itch to go to the casino!
Reasonable prices, great facilities, and a park that caters to wildlife enthusiasts! What more do you want?
The only thing to be careful with is the overpriced "African" art produced by factories elsewhere being constantly pushed on you at the gates. It's a huge scam for your money so be careful! Rather, support the park by buying inside!

This poor park is in a dire situation, the roads all need to be redone. A fire took out half of the accommodation. There is no signal to pay anything by card at the restaurants etc. They had a drain leak, no electricity for long periods and the campsite ablutions are in a bad state. The wildlife is still there and some good sightings can be achieved.

Beautiful piece of property a short drive from Gabarone.
With a various amounts of wildlife available to see (no lions, however), there are some opportunities to view bigger game and plenty of birds. The drawback is there is a significant amount of undergrowth and heavy brush that makes seeing many of the animals virtually impossible, especially in the warmer parts of the day. It can be hit-or-miss whether you see anything, and we had a "miss" on most of everything. We did drive into the Cheetah encounter- there is only one female at the moment. Nice to see, but not worth the extra.

I visited on a Saturday with five other American exchange students, and we did the Rhino Tracking. After just 30 minutes, our guides spotted rhino tracks and we got out of the truck to track down the rhinos on foot. There were four of them, not far from the road, and we watched/followed them for at least 45 minutes. We had a fantastic experience watching the rhinos, and we felt lucky to have encountered them so early in the day. We then had several hours left of the tour to ride around looking for other wildlife. We saw giraffes, impalas, a kudu, warthog, hippos, and lots of birds. Then there was a very well done picnic by a lake. The whole thing lasted four hours and was easily worth the P800 per person we paid. We will be back for giraffe tracking!

Madikwe Game Reserve is a vast protected area that serves as a habitat for elephants, lions, and cheetahs. It spans 760 sq km of bushveld, savannah grassland and riverine forest on the edge of the Kalahari. Madikwe offers incredible wildlife watching opportunities to spot the Big Five while enjoying luxurious lodging in charming red sand and clay-thorn bushveld surroundings that are free from malaria.
Excellent experience for the whole family. Small differences in species in the East (river) and West part. To explore the other side is a day trip, instead of two at one side. Not a bad idea to move from one lodge to another during your stay to see more animals. Great communication of guides in the park significantly increases chances to see what you look for.

5 Stars - Definitely a must go when you are in South Africa! This is a relatively new park, turned from farmland in 1991 occupying areas as big as around 70% of Hong Kong. It’s not the biggest in South Africa but to be honest who could finish exploring the whole park if you only stay for say a week? The park is less well known than the most famous one but it truly is a hidden gem given its animal variety and the professional rangers/workers/staff. Believe me - the experience of escaping from a huge city and staying at a safari dedicating the time to track animals and just watch them doing the same things repeatedly do provokes a lot of thinking and reflection.

These are the finest three Dikgosi's that I've ever seen... Note that the entrance is on the North side of the square and the guard will ask you if you need information upon entering. You can tell him you do not because there is sufficient information online. There are 6 other statues that describe Botswana's development over the past 200 years. It's a nicely maintained area beside the supreme court complex.

Interesting space and troika of statues commemorating a foundational moment in Botswana's history. The guide at the site is enthusiastic and energetic, and definitely a reason why this was one of the highlights of our weekend in Gaborone. The park is situated in the city's modern business centre, next to some spectacular highrise buildings. Entry was free (for us). The parking was not clear, so we parked at a shopping centre across the street. Google said that the site was 'closed' (on a Saturday) but it was not.

Interesting and significant spot. The statues are very impressive and the history covered is wide. We never used a guide, but apparently the on-site guide is excellent. The Three Dikgosi Monument is an 18-feet tall bronze statue honouring the three dikgosi (chiefs): Khama III, Sebele I, and Bathoen I, who led Botswana to its boipuso (independence). Only in 1966, what was previously known as Bechuanaland became the Republic Of Botswana after eight decades as a British protectorate. The monument is the most visited attraction in the CentralBusinessDistrict (CBD) of Gaborone. Bonus --- a free attraction!

The scenery at this national park is breathtakingly beautiful.
The camp ground and tented units are perfectly laid out to be literally on the doorstep of the wilderness, which means the chances are excellent that beautiful wild animal visitors will literally stroll right by where you are staying.
The clamping tents where we stayed offered plenty of privacy. We felt like we were the only people there.
The roads are pretty good, so you don't need a 4x4, and if you want to go off road, you can arrange a game drive.
The facilities are immaculate, the staff professional, and friendly and the game rangers knowledgeable.
We saw so many animals, including 3 of the big five rhino, lion and my wishlist animal leopard 🐆
I cannot wait to go back and soak up the serenity and wild beauty.

Great park very scenic, we stayed at the camp by the main gate, staff are super friendly and professional the lookout on the mountain is amazing and so is the drive up! The park doesn’t have many roads for its size but we did see good numbers of game of various species. Accommodations was perfect!

The Marakele National Park was a real surprise. It is an amazing place! The landscapes are just breath-taking with the added bonus of being in a Big 5 game reserve.
We visited the National Park two days ago. It rained a lot and the roads were quite muddy and slippery. You definetely need a high clearance vehicle if you visit during the rainy season.
Before entering the reception office you are being asked to go through the screening for Covid-19 at the desk located outside the entrance.
The lady at the reception was friendly and we paid R120 for 2 people. Only cards are accepted.
A very basic map was given to us without unfortunately pointing out that the Picnic site on the map is closed and a new one has been opened on the Tsessebe loop which we didn't see as we almost got stuck driving there.
The Park is divided in 2 sections. The Big 5 are in the furtherest part of the park. You need to drive to a gate, inside the park, press a button for it to open and go through an overpass to enter big 5 territory.
There aren't a lot of roads in the park. The most scenic one is the Lenong Drive that takes you up to 2000m to the Lenong View Point. Views are spectacular and you can also admire the endangered Cape Volture colonies.
You are allowed to walk to the view point, but always be careful as you are in an area where wild animals live.
The road to arrive at the top is quite narrow and steep but paved and tarred.
The Tlopi Tended Camp is also located on this side of the reserve, on a dam.
What we though it is missing is a picnic site on the Big 5 part of the park.
It would have been nice to stop and have a break and have lunch or a coffee not in the car.
We didn't see a lot of game.
But definetely a must to visit.

Very friendly staff and awesome for nature lovers. The Lenong Viewpoint road was in a good condition considering recent rainfall. I highly recommend it for a day trip and just to pass time with family and friends. The picnic spots in the lower reserve area are also neat and tidy. Thumbs up from me 😊👍🏻👍🏻

A friend and I visited the park as Day Visitors from Syringa Sands Game Farm early January 2024. We were at the gate at 6.45 and on our way to the Mbidi loop soon thereafter, excited to hopefully spot some rhino and maybe a lion or two. Little did we expect to see both species together and interacting. The rhino were moving along a gorge, slowly and grazing along the way until they encountered a pride of 7 lion. An amazing sighting with both species standing their ground until eventually the rhino backed out of the gorge. It was a most unusual sighting, just the 2 of us in the car and the animals, simply magnificent.

I have no doubt that Marakele is a beautiful National Park and that Tlopi Tented Camp units are very nice in good weather. Unfortunately we visited in the middle of a stormy weekend, so the wind and rain made our stay very unpleasant and we left a day early. Unit needs a bit of maintenance, tent needs to be tightened up to avoid bashing against the indoor furniture and kitchen needs patching (we had to move the table & chairs into the bedroom section to keep dry). Units are nicely laid out, overlooking a dam, with nice braai setup. Keep all doors closed even when you are there to avoid any monkey issues. Wildlife still amazing and well worth spending time here. Mud roads in first half of park are very interesting in a normal vehicle.

* * * * * review for SanParks Marakele - Tlopi tented camp * * * * *
Stayed in unit ST2/3 (Dabchick)
Camp subject to loadshedding, however a generator was started perfectly on time with minimal interruption to electricity supply.
Unit very well maintained. Warm water. Warm bedding (including electric blanket). Adequately equipped kitchenette for all your needs during your stay. Daily housekeeping service wonderful.
Good cellphone/internet signal (MTN).
Perfect view of the whole dam.
Wind wept through the mountains and shook the tent all night long, but made the whole “tented”experience even more unforgettable.
Suggested additional activity: go and visit the Marakele Animal Sanctuary (on the main road towards Thabazimbi), especially the Lion Mobile.
To all guests overnighting in a nature reserve - a gentle remember:
* switch cellphone to silent mode
* no music/videos
* lower your voice to a whisper
Enjoy and make lots of memories!

Great getaway in the bush. Big variety of game to view at Marakele. Campsites were well covered with trees, ablution facilities were clean and well maintained daily.
Would recommend to visit in the winter when the bush is less dense to view more animals.
Unfortunately no restaurant or shop in the Park. Currently there is a swimming pool under construction that would be great on summer days.

Please warn people that the road up the peak is a single road. I was scared to death. Very dangerous. Saw 1 buffalo of the big 5. Only saw Kudu, Eland, Giraffe, Rooibok. Very poor signage on the roads. It needs to be on every corner with road signs and also on the map. Bathrooms is in poor condition. Other than that the park is beautiful.
sonja lubbe — Google review
Initial rating is five stars because of the sheer beauty of Marakele both at the top and the bottom. Pics posted will illustrate this well. You do need to take your time, stop a lot and drive slowly because this bushveld is very dense. Overall rating will drop to three stars due to the poorly kept roads and the usual Kruger problems: speeding by supply vehicles, poor road surfaces in most areas of the park, litter and people albluting by the side of the road. Staff need people training to handle said issues with park customers. I will continue to recommend the park for at least a once a year visit. We are visiting for last ten years. There should also be more attention by park officials to activities in the park as well as the four by four side type travelling. Track does not have to break vehicles but give drivers a few moments interspersed with some amazing sightings. Bird spotting extremely good in park.

Extremely beautiful. You may not see game like you do in Kruger or other major parks but for true bush lovers you will appreciate it.

It's a beautiful landscape. There are many animals incl the Big 5. I was silently looking forward to see rhinoceros unicornis (yes - a unicorn is a rhino with 1 horn, not the rubbish we've been taught), but I only saw rhinoceros dicornis.

We stayed at Tlopi Tented Camp. Our unit was Sunbird. Lovely view of the dam and mountain side.
Kitchenette was equipped with a fridge, microwave and a two plate stove top. There is a braai with a light above.
Room was well kept and lovely shower with hot water.
The views where stunning
We did not have cell phone reception (Vodacom) but that was ok.
The last night we were there, the wind was very strong and did damage the tent poles.
Overall we will go again but I think it will be in early winter months

One of the best places I've ever been to. We claimed the mountains to the view area but it's so scary if you are afraid of hights lol
Rhino conservation project with self-driven or guided wildlife tours, plus cabins & campgrounds.
Wonderful place. I love the commitment to protect these rare and majestic animals which are guarded by the military. The campsites are well-kept and peaceful. Other than Rhinos you can see all kinds of mammals and birds in there. There are also a few Outposts from which you have a view over the sanctuary.

Whilst the game park is great, I would only recommend day visits. Lovely pans and game viewing.
The campsite are beautiful by themselves . We were a campsite 6.. But the ablutions facilities were... Well.. How can I say it diplomatically... Unusable...
The staff was not very friendly nor welcoming. Shop has very very limited supplies even that they are so close to town.

I had the pleasure of spending a day (and overnight) at Khama a few years ago. This was my first true "safari" experience in Africa, and did not disappoint. We saw a wide variety of game on our drive through the sanctuary, including Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Warthog, and various others (including a Dung Beetle!) Our experience turned magical when we entered an enclosed area for viewing birds, and to our delight, stumbled upon a group of beautiful white rhino at extremely close range. What a delight, and what a way to begin my Africa experience. The accommodations were fine, but very hot at night, and you had to wear netting to circumvent the bugs. We had dinner on-site, and the food and service were very good. I highly recommend the visit, and hope to return someday soon.

Campsites are lovely. But do consider that you have to drive through deep sand to get there. A motorhome in our party got stuck. Thank you to the lady who organised that we can camp in the picnic area.
Lourene van Niekerk — Google review
Beautiful camping area with a very large Mokongwa tree in the middle, big enough for 4 vehicles and 9 people to camp comfortably
Unfortunately we just stayed overnight and could not explore the rest of the park, but recommend definitely more than one night stay

We gave it 5 as it’s special seeing the rhinos and we had a lovely drive with T in a beautiful park. Important project protecting rhinos and staff very friendly.
Comfortables beds-had a good night’s rest.
The manager is clearly not supervising his staff as maintenance is needed on the restaurant doors that won’t fully open. Baby pool is green.
Chalet does not have a kitchen.
They provide a good fridge, a sink, excellent hot water and water pressure. Body wash, shower caps also provided.
There is a big restaurant which is fortunate as the chalets need a small hob & microwave. A good destination.

Perfect place to get in touch with Rhinos.
Morning and evening self drives given our family a great chances to spot them with close encounters.
Food served at the Restaurant was fine and reasonable. Family enjoyed.
The Chalet was not that clean and organised. It demands a proper refurbishment. Be prepared for that if planning for a overnight stay.
Giraffes, zebras and warthogs gave us company on the hunt of Rhinos.
Kids enjoyed the bird hide experience during our early morning
We also spotted two species of Vultures feeding on a fresh carcass.

It was very nice to be at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. We stayed there for two nights and did the Rhino walk which was very nice.
Good campsites with Abulution nearly and a lot of space for yourself.
They do have a little shop with some things you maybe need and there is also a restaurant for meals. We went in the Park and did the selfdriving, which was very easy.
Welcoming staff was okay, the rest very friendly.

We had a wonderful experience at the sanctuary - with amazing sightings of animals (it felt like stepping into a wild-life documentary). The camping facilities were rather basic but sufficient for a single/multi night stay (if you come to see animals not to enjoy luxurious accomodation). We used our own tents (the camping site was spacious with a soft sand - comfy for sleeping and during the day protected by a shade from the trees). We had a bit of a walk to the ablution block which was little scary after dark :) do not forget your head torch! There is also quite a few mosquitoes in the bathrooms so you will probably want to be very quick (or bring a repelent). Otherwise the facilities were ok - warm water, flushing toilets. The place also has a swimming pool (which we did not try) and a restaurant where you can enjoy drinks and food. Staff was very welcoming and walked us from the entrance to the restaurant area while we were waiting for the rest of our group to join us (it is not advised to freely walk through the sanctuary because of animals).

Exceptional experience... Camp sites are private, clean and well shaded. Braai wood available at reception and it's great quality. Bring your passport for sign in, and go see the magnificent rhino's. Ablutions need work, especially the toilets and shower heights, easy fixes and Botswana would have a world class destination!

Fabulous experience at a place that celebrates over 30 years of successful rhino conservation! Stayed in a chalet for two nights as a family of three. Went on a morning and afternoon game drive which was led by an incredibly knowledgeable, interesting guide. Saw so many animals including the main attraction- rhinos. Ate at the restaurant four times. Accommodations were clean and basic. Food was lovely. Highly recommend making this out of the way stop a destination.

Lovely camping. Wish each campsite had it's own wash up area and shower. And more sign posts. But the most beautiful scenery and night skies.

We camped here for two nights in late July. The campsite was lovely, with decent ablutions close by (past the cute mongoose family). The guide for our morning and evening game drive was friendly, helpful and very punctual collecting us from our tents. Saw plenty of animals and birds and the rhino, but the evening drive was cold - hadn't realised how cold African winter is! The guide advised us to do an afternoon drive too as it would be warmer and the rhino would be out in the open, and they were! Had a good meal at the restaurant and took advantage of the WiFi! Only disappointment was that the pool was closed - but being winter it was probably only mad English that would have used it!

Beautiful wildlife is plentiful. Endangered species fearsly protected. Campsites were neat and comfortable, but had no electrical point. Loved the abundance of the Makongwa trees. Would love to see a bit more atmosphere at the restaurant and pool area.
Adel Strydom — Google review
Referring to chalets only...Water not always available for showers etc.... Power points aren't all working. 1st world problems yeah...However the food at the restaurant was sensational.
The wildlife was always a few minutes between sights. That's why we go to a place like this. Not much water in the lake unfortunately but still a lot of animals there.

WOW what an epic experience. Saw a rhino within 2 minutes of the game drive. This should be on everyone’s bucket list!! Affordable, fun and once in a lifetime.
The abundance of zebras and game animals is incredible.
Keep your eyes out for the giraffes, hopefully you’ll have a sighting too!
Restaurant is basic but you are in the middle of nowhere so it’s expected.
Campsites are maintained and well kept, extremely spacious.
Lodges/chalets are tidy, neat and comfortable.
You definitely don’t come here for luxury, you come here for the experience of seeing such beautiful animals.
Kudos to the Botswana Military for monitoring the rhinos and doing everything in their power to stop poaching.

Had a one night stop over at Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Well spaced and clean camp sites although the ablutions can do with some repair and upgrade. The staff were very friendly and wildlife especially the rhino population was the highlight!
Kubu Island, located in Botswana, is a surreal and rocky environment filled with baobab trees surrounded by a dry salt lake. The name Kubu refers to the time when hippos lived in the once-inhabited lake. Despite its eerie presence, it remains sacred to local people who built dry stone walls on the island.
The experience was really awesome the guide was also very helpful and informative Mr.Chabaya is the guide name…we went with family the arrangement were good and the tents were clean..The only problem was the Toilet I won’t recommend using the toilet in the area…please carry mosquito spray because there are lots of mosquitoes…Carry a good torch light it gets really dark in the night….to experience the Milky Way I will suggest you to go when there is no moon…to reach the Kubu island we took around 4 to 5 hours because of the off road.. But after reaching thereat the island it was worth it…

Very interested place. Far from any commercial facilities and hard to get to. Interesting nature. Looks like rock with baobabs trees surrounded by salt dry lake (dry in winter). Great for astrophotographers. However you have to accept almost no any facilities- no water, no electricity and very primitive toilets. Not easy to novigate to and while leaving.

Grate place, over populated, toilets in pathethic state like everywhere in Botswana reserves.

Can’t give it anything less than 5 stars. This is now our favorite place to camp. Be self sufficient and you’re set. There is a toilet at each campsite though. But the quietness, stars and beauty makes it perfect

The appeal of this site is the remoteness and quiet African bush. The sunset/sunrise views are magnificent and the panorama of the pan is mind blowing. The pit latrines were disgusting though (I have used much better open pit latrines in Africa) and the place is very run down.

One of the most stunning places I have ever been in my life. If you visit Botswana you need to plan one night at that place. We did not book anything in advance but just made sure we are there at around lunchtime to get one of the camping spots. You are free to choose and most spots are not too close together. The pricing is way too high for what it is, but I guess you also pay for the experience, so it was still worth it. There were also not too many people in the evening which made the experience so special. It may seem far off the usual route and take some more time than just driving down the highway, but the way to Kubu island is an adventure for itself and absolutely stunning. So take your time for the drive there as well. Absolutely worth it, never felt so free than in this place in the middle of nowhere. Ah and it is pretty easy to find the place, just follow the tracks.

Such a beautiful place! We had the best sunset! Don't expect any ablutions, there are just some very basic pit latrines.

Amazing drive from south. Camp sites are primitive, bring everything and don't plan on using the drop latrines. Did hear Jackels early morning hours. Have fun!

Nice camping. No water or showers. Pit-latrines are available but not maintained in a descent condition.
The Makgadikgadi Basin is a vast salt flat, one of the largest in the world, formed from the remains of Lake Makgadikgadi. Its beauty is extraordinary and can be seen from above as a bright white reflection refracting the salt. During dry seasons there is little wildlife, but after rains, numerous animals including flamingos come to drink from the pans that fill with water. The area offers opportunities for overnight tours and family fun holidays in a relaxed atmosphere.
🍃Nature: Extraordinarily beautiful!
The magnitude of this marvel is clearly seen from the sky. There is a bright white reflection just above the earth that refracts the salt. 🤍
These images were taken on a flight to Victoria Falls. The expanse of the pans beneath were seen for almost 12minuets of fly time. 👀
