How long is the drive from Raipur to Puri?
The direct drive from Raipur to Puri is 367 mi (590 km), and should have a drive time of 7 hrs 10 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Raipur to Puri, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Bhubaneswar, as well as top places to visit like Nandanvan Jungle Safari, Nava Raipur and Shree Rajiv Lochan Temple, or the ever-popular Atal Park.
Bhubaneswar, a city in eastern India's Odisha state, was once known as Orissa. The old town features several sandstone temples scattered around Bindu Sagar Lake, with the 11th-century Lingaraja Temple among them. At Rajarani Temple's entrance are carvings of the guardians of eight cardinal and ordinal directions. The Odisha State Museum houses Jain artifacts, weaponry, and indigenous pattachitra artwork.

Best stops along Raipur to Puri drive
The top stops along the way from Raipur to Puri (with short detours) are Lingaraj Temple, Nandankanan Zoological Park, and Dhauli Shanti Stupa. Other popular stops include Hirakud Dam, Ghatarani Waterfall, and Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves.
Atal Park, the largest park in Naya Raipur, offers various amenities such as a playground for children, walking paths, a yoga area, a cafeteria and an amphitheater. Unfortunately, the growth of the park was severely impacted by COVID-19. However, now that conditions have normalized again it is important to maintain these facilities as it is an ideal location for families to spend quality time together with their children.

Barren land
कूड़े से भरा हुआ बंजर भूमि।
In starting it used to be a good place and very pretty
BUT NOW IT'S NOTHING BUT BARREN LAND!
Wasteland full of garbage.
As soon as you enter into the park after 20 or 25 steps in the sides you will find its filled with full of garbage

Good ! There are multiple parks and have Musical Fountains. Grass, Flowers, small trees, walking tracks & seating places are available. Gathering level is high on 'Sat-Sun'. Best time to visit in 6-7 AM/PM.

Atal Park, formerly known as Central Park, in New Raipur is a true gem. Sprawling across a vast area, it's a haven for locals and visitors alike, offering something for everyone.
The park is incredibly well-maintained, with dedicated teams ensuring cleanliness and tidiness. You won't find any litter or overgrown patches here, making it a pleasant space to simply stroll and soak in the fresh air.
Kid-Friendly Playground .Parents, rejoice! Atal Park boasts a fantastic playground catering to a wide age range. From swings for toddlers to more daring climbing structures for older kids, there's something to keep every child entertained for hours. And the best part? Broken swings are a thing of the past! Regular maintenance ensures everything is safe and fun.

The Central Garden is now known as Atal Garden. This is a very good place to visit. Children enjoy a lot by wandering here. There is no entry fee. Parking is also wide. You can pre book this place by contacting Atal Nagar Development Authority.

Nice place to spend quality time with family or friends. A lot of space to walk around and amphitheatre is there. Play area for kids is very nice with different types of slides and swings as per age group. Restaurant is there with fast food to full meal on card, food quality is ok but service is poor and is little bit expensive as far as quality is concerned.

Nice park but poor maintenance. There are areas allocated for Yoga, childrens play area, cafeteria, wind mill, lake, amphitheatre and walking-tracks. Covered seating spaces are also available which can be utilised during group-picnic. Presently, maintenance of lake is very poor and lots of grass has grown up on the approach road. Cafeteria is also not functional. There is hardly any visitor on weekdays except for Sunday evening.
Still a good place to visit with small kids (4-15 yrs) for Naya Raipur residents.

Nandanvan Jungle Safari, Nava Raipur
Wildlife and safari park
Outdoor Activities
Zoos
Nandanvan Jungle Safari in Nava Raipur is a manmade sanctuary and zoo offering safari-style tours through open areas with deer, lions, tigers, and bears. The safari bus is fully covered and air-conditioned, providing a comfortable experience for visitors. There's also an option for non-AC buses. The park features a variety of creatures in the zoo area as well. Visitors can enjoy waiting in the hall or spending time at the snacks store while exploring the wildlife closely.
If you are from Chhattisgarh or have come to visit Chhattisgarh from outside, then you must go to Jungle Safari. The fun of traveling with family, with children or with friends is different, in today's hectic life, there is nothing better than this to see wildlife so closely,When you are locked in a cage and the wild animal is roaming in the open forest near you, this moment fills you with excitement. You get to see a lot of birds and animals in the jungle safari zoo too.
Virendra Photography — Google review
I have visited on 26.11.2023. Very unsatisfied with the service as the all the safari had not been visited by the crew as they have said they are closed and the entire tour ended within 30-40 minues. First of all there is no cordination for the safari bus and zoo bus. and after there is no person who can give clear view when bus is coming no help. For the zoo site the condition is worst old people and kids have to go by walking and it is too far from main gate to reach zoo. At least Authorities have to make the arrangements have been made. It is for the VVIP persons. Ohter persons have to face it. I am not very much satisfied with jungle safari.

Definitely Recommended !
Only Monday it's closed
Rest it's very good to be here (I don't know why they don't run AC buses)
You can see every Animal in Safari
Zoo is very big but way made is very comfortable
Staff could have been better
N when I visited the second time cantine was out of service which I think is necessary as it is out of city n it takes 3 to 4 hours to visit this place.

This is a planned Jungle Safari along with a zoo located in Naya Raipur. Earlier the zoo was located in Old City and with the expansion of this zoo, more and more animals are being relocated here. Presently White Tiger, RBT, Asiatic Lion, Leopard, Spotted Dear, Blue Bull, Black buck, Crocodile, Hippo, Otter etc are there. Cage for snakes, Porcupine and various birds are under construction. Overall a good number of animals are there. Inside the zoo, there is a kids park with a canteen nearby where one can get chips, cold drinks, maggi, bread pakoda etc. One can also take hoom cooked food or food which are not wrapped in polythene.
Alongside is located a jungle safari where one can spot wild animals and dears if visit during morning hours or during evening time. During mid-day spotting them may be a challenge.
Entry fee for adults is Rs.50/- for zoo and Rs.100/- for safari. Parking is also available and for four wheelers they charge Rs 50/-.
Overall a good fun place for family and kids.

The Jungle Safari in Nava Raipur is so amazing. Its a place you must visit if you happen to be in Raipur.
It is less than an hour from Raipur, but still you feel in a totally different world surrounded by Nature. You will be thrilled to watch a variety of wild life in the natural habitat. The entire place is well maintained. And I particularly liked the tour guide who was knowledgeable and passionate about conservation of wild life.
Kids and adult both loved the place.

It's worth the money.
It ia a man made sanctuary and zoo just in the corner of nava-raipur. It's an zoo-cum-safari. We booked zoo+safari. Didn't cost us much. There is a waiting hall where you can wait for your turn to come. There is a snacks store to spend time. It's worth the time and money. The safari bus is fully covered and air-conditioned. You can get non-ac bus also. And we're lucky enough to see tiger and lion closely
And lastly the zoo has many type of creatures. If you want, you can go.
FINAL VERDICT:
1. Safari is must.
2. Zoo is optional.
Nishikant Kerketta — Google review
Viewing of animals in jungle safari was too good. Never before seen animals from so near distance but vehicle service was poorest. We find only 2 bus was running for the safari and people there were more than 150 and at a time only 18-20 peoples per bus for a round of 40 mins. So waited long time to board the bus i.e more than 2 hrs.
Manab Sarkar — Google review
Great experience might be the best if the vicinity of the animals are maintained more and some cages are empty but there are no notice about it you have to spend so much time to find out that those are empty cells.
Ritik Mohite — Google review
Good place to explore the wildlife with family and friends. There are two options, you can take the jungle safari or visit the zoo or you can take both. We couldn't make it to jungle safari, for that make sure to book tickets earlier from counter or you can book online. They still need some improvement inside the jungle for animals and visitors perspective.👍🏻🫡

Great place to visit with family. You can eaily spend 3-4 hours here.
Safari costs ₹100/ticket and takes almost 30 mins. You can easily spot 🐻 🦌and 🦁and 🐅🐯 if you are lucky.
Zoo costs ₹50/ticket and you can easily spot White Tiger, Lion, Tiger, Deers, Rhino 🦏 , python etc in captivity. Takes 2.5 hours to fully explore.
Zoo also has canteen and children's park.
Rishabh Shukla — Google review
The place is good but completely unmanaged and unorganized, especially the safari. In spite of booking online tickets for 1 pm safari, they provide tokens and keep you waiting for hours. There are no vehicles running to keep the crowd organized. AC vehicles are non functional, and no drivers are available. It's just the greenery and zoo which can be enjoyed a bit.

The Rajiv Lochan Temple is a stunning representation of Hindu culture, exuding an atmosphere of tranquility. The temple premises house various other temples, and visitors have the option to stay in Rajim and avail food facilities. The administration is dedicated to enhancing the overall development of the temple, which is commendable. Amenities such as washrooms and parking are conveniently available, while roadside food stalls offer nourishment.
Well Maintained Temple.
People can enjoy great family time and have fun in shallow waters.
Laxman Bridge is also opened now. A great addition for tourist.

I visited this place with family few days before shivratri when Puni Fare was running. Very crowded place. It's a Vishnu temple with multiple mini temples inside.
After parking your vehicle you need to walk around 500 MTR to go to this temple. After this you can visit Kuleshwar Mahadev temple that is in between the sangam. Around 4.5 kms walk from Rajeev lochan temple.

History. There are two stone inscriptions, one of Vilasatunga of Nala dynasty and the other of Kalachuri feudatory ruler Jagapaladeva dated to 1145 AD. fixed on the mandapa wall. The Kalachuri inscriotion refers to the construction of a Rama temple at Rajim and donation of village Salmaliya by the feudal ruler Jagapaladeva for the temple.
According to the Nala inscription king Vilasatunga had constructed a magnificent and splendid temple at Rajim in honour of his deceased son, so that his immortal deeds can be remember. The inscription is Paleographically assigned to C. 700 - 725 AD.
Details: This west facing brick built edifice dedicated to lord Vishnu known as ' Rajiv Lochana' is placed at the centre of a large panchayatana temple complex on a high platform is approachable through two flight of steps from the north and south side. Other important temples within the precinct are Rajeswar temple, Daneswar temple, Jagannath temple and temple dedicated to Rajim Telin Bhakti Mata besides the Naraha templ. Marasina temple Bedtinath temple and Vamana terrile athe TOu cores of the courtyard.

The beautiful display of our Hindu culture, in the colour of peace. There are lots of other temples too in the campus. (Note: Staying and food facilities available in Rajim if visitors want to stay.). Administration is looking into the development which is quite nice and appreciable. Facilities like washroom and parking is there, food stalls are there at the side of road. One can go by own vehicle or by bus ( till the rajim entry gate, from there visitors have to walk or book a auto). Nice and clean venue, and it literally feels like a religious place which is very nice experience but the Prasad system has affected by corporate effect. Campus opens into the Lakshman Jhoola bridge.

I don't have any other option otherwise I would give 100 stars not five for this temple I found the foundation date of this temple more attractive. It is very difficult to describe this temple in my own words because this temple should have been more famous for its carvings, take care of this temple, I did not like it much. This is an important inscription of the Kalachuri period. Its purpose is to announce the construction of Ram temple in Rajim by Panchhans Kulranjak Rajmal Kulamaltilak Jagpal Dev and the donation of Shalmalia village for God's offering. The article is in Sanskrit language and Devanagari script. It begins with 'Om Namo Narayanaya' and its date is Wednesday on the Sthastami day of Magha month Shukla Paksha of Kalachuri Samvat 896. Samant Jagpal Dev, subordinate to the Kalchuri kings of Kosala, was the master of exemplary self-qualities. Along with being a promoter of true religion, ethical, great warrior, he was the one who provided the fruits of religion, meaning and work to his subjects. He made remarkable achievements in the territorial expansion of Kalchuri Empire by conquering Vivar Bhumi, Bihara Desh, Dandor, Komomandal, Tamnar, Rath Teran, Talhari Mandal, Sarharagad, Mechka-Sihawa, Bhramardesh Kantar, Kusum Bhog, Kanda Dongar, Kakray etc.

Calm place. Visitors have to buy ticket/pass for Rs. 25. Best time to visit is in the evenings before sunset due to the place being hot. The temple has been excavated and restored. Good place to hang out with kids. There is also an excavated site opposite to the temple main gate. There aren't any guides available so no one to explain the historical importance of the temple.

Sirpur is amongst the place of temples and it has ancient temples. This Lakshman Mandir is among the ancient temples of India and is situated on the Lord Ram Van Gaman Path the way which was used by Bhagwan Ram, Mata Sita aur Lakshman ji and the architecture is excellent. It also has 3 musium just behind the temple and all have lots of old idols, shiv lings and other pillars found in archeological surveys. The ticket is Rs. 20 for both the places and one can buy it on the counter or by scanning the bar code available near the counter. There is a big garden here to enjoy nature and get relaxed. One should visit this place while going to Barnawapara.

It's a really nice place to see the monuments which has been built 1000-1000 years ago. The sculptures are awesome and can enjoy very cool & silent time there. A must visit place once in a while.

Very spacious premise having the historical temple, a small museum and large gardens with good arrangements to sit and soak the beauty. All the incarnation of lord Vishnu are made on the sides of the entry gate. Four of these are in good shape. On the top of the door you can notice the lord laying on Sheshnag.
Not many food or eatry options so either bring something along or have it on the way to Sirpur. The place would take 30 to 60 mins.

Marvel of Indian sculpture, a time tested witness to the ages of rich culture and history, Laxman Temple and the surroundings of the district Mahasamund of Chhattisgarh are a treasure sort of thing for people with interest in ancient India. Dating back to 625-650 AD, the Laxman Temple in Sirpur chattisgarh is one of the most famous structures in the city. It is believed to be one of the best examples of brick temples in India and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The intricate carvings on the exterior of the temple make it special. These designs include Lord Vishnu, Krishna Leela symbols, Vaishnava Dwarpal, and pictures bearing resemblance to the famous erotic work as in the Khajuraho Temple. The mandapa which originally bore stone pillars is now in ruins. The archaeological remains in and around Sirpur consists of both Hindu and Buddhist monuments in the form of temples and monasteries. Among them, the most well preserved magnificent temple is the east facing Lakshmana temple built by Vasata, the mother of Mahasivagupta Balarjuna in 7th century AD.
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this brick temple stands on a high massive platform accessible by steps in the north and the south. The plan of the temple consists of a garbagriha, antarala and a mandapa. The mandapa now in ruins was originally upheld by stone pillars in rows. The exquisitely carved doorframe depicts figures of Seshasayi Vishnu along with his other incarnations. This temple is one among the best examples of brick temples of ancient India.
It’s only and only one bricks carving temple in India. Amazing and wonderful. Worth visiting place.

Riverside spot for bathing around a forest waterfall, with a Hindu temple, shops & food stalls.
Great place, good location, awesome scenery. The waterfall is beautiful and there are also small complexes of temples. Visit during monsoon season only. On other seasons the waterfall remains dry. Please be careful if you want to bathe in there,as there are always some accidents happening.

Going there after rainy season is not worthy because you can't see any waterfall after rainy season if you only want to visit temple then it's good but if you want to explore a new place for enjoyment then it's not good.. There is a forest but it's not too good and you can't go inside because in that forest wild animals live. My overall experience isn't good.

You won't get any mobile network here, again its the best for social fasting but please be prepared for emergencies.
You can order Food from their canteen but the cost is a bit at the higher side (also not much food options available outside).
Check post for Jungle Safari is only half kilometer ahead (Timings: 6 to 8 AM, 8 to 10 AM & 3 to 5 PM).

It's a treat to nature lovers. Loved watching wild herbivores animals roaming freely in wild during the first reunion of college friends..
There are checkposts for entering in the sanctuary
Accommodation is available at Bar Nawapara that could be booked online ranges from dormitory to machaan and heritage cottages.. Rush days at weekends..
For safari they charge around 1700-1800 for vehicle and entry fee. Polythene packages are not allowed. It's better to go for safari during evening slots.
Food is good charged Rs200 per meal and advance intimation is required.
Be aware that at present the uninterrupted mobile network is lacking and one needs to stay at some specific locations to catch the network that too works for Jio and Idea.
Within the safari visit a beautiful Ghost tree, also called Naked lady of the forest (Sterculia urens), source of karaya gum is present and adds more scenic beauty...

This is one of the lesser explored Wildlife sanctuaries situated in Baloda Bazar District of Chhattisgarh. It's 150 Kms from Raipur and 25 Kms from Pithora.
Attraction - Bear, Peacock, Gaur, Deer, Leopard.
Cost - Gypsy (Small)-1500, Gypsy (Big)- 2000, Guide charges - 500.
Open timing during Winter - 6 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 6 PM
Summer - 8 AM to 12 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM
One major issue here is there will be no mobile network. There are no mobile towers.
Rajeev Patel — Google review
They offer safari only in buffer zone. We saw deer, monkey and peacocks only but overall experience was clam & peaceful as we did our safari during sunset.
Open Gypsy costed us 1300 + 200 for the guide+25 per person for safari booking.During peak days, it's better to book online in advance.
To enter the sanctuary there are many gates. One can choose the gate as per location.
If you are coming from raipur, you can reach patewa highway and take 25kms unmetalled road to the nearest gate or if you can drive little extra for good roads you can choose to go till pithora and enter from bhalu gate.
There will be no mobile network near to sanctuary.

Chandi Mata Temple is situated in village – Ghunchapali of district Mahasamund, development block Bagbahra. Which is at a distance of 40 km from the district headquarters. This Chandi Mata Temple of Mother Adishakti was known for Tantrokta Siddhi. Where only Tantrik and Aghoris used to come and go. Chandi Mata Temple was opened to the public around 1950-51.
Surrounded by many small hills, this temple of Chandi Mata has a very picturesque view. Passing between two hills before reaching Chandi Mata Temple provides an unforgettable experience.
Bears along with their families come to Maa Adishakti Chandi Mata Temple every day between noon and evening to have darshan of Mata Ji. To see this, the number of devotees increases significantly in the evening.

Amazing place with Very Spiritual Vibe. The Temple is situated over a small mountain which you can reach directly via road or From the Backside of the temple. While going from the backside there is a little struggle in walking uphill and steep slope. We went from the backside and it was quite adventurous for us. Once you get to a little height you see a beautiful panoramic view of the Mountains around you. We missed the main attraction of this place which is "Bears" Yes this is the place where bears come to the temple Every evening for little snacks. Thrilling yeah!
The best advice is to come here at Sunset Timing where you can enjoy both sunset and Bear Feeding activity.

Samaleswari Temple is a Hindu temple in Sambalpur, Odisha, India, dedicated to the goddess known as 'Samaleswari', also known among the natives as samalei maa, meaning Mother Samaleswari. Shree Shree Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Sambalpur, is a strong religious force in western part of Odisha and Chhattisgarh state of India. On the bank of the river Mahanadi, the mother goddess Samaleswari is worshipped from ancient times as Jagatjanani, Adishakti, Mahalaxmi and Mahasaraswati, and is the mother of the universe. After Lord Jagannath, she is the only Goddess in Odisha who is the presiding deity of such a large region including the complete Western Odisha, parts of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The region in which the temple is situated has a rich cultural heritage. Sambalpur region is popularly known as Hirakhanda from ancient times. Ptolemy has described the place as Sambalaka, according to Tavernir, the French explorer, and Edward Gibbon, the English historian, diamonds were exported to Rome from Sambalpur.

The temple felt far better and more peaceful than any other temple in Odisha, the priests weren't that demanding and white temple is beautiful inside out, tho I still don't know much about the place and the gods inside, I'd have been better if it had more information about it written around. Since the temple is under renovation hopefully there'd be.

There are two shows in the evening. One, on the temple, describes the story of maa samaleswari. Second one, which is light and sound show involving fountain water in an open area about sambalpur & samaleswari maa. Both shows are organised in an internal of 15 minutes alternatively from 6PM to 7:30PM.

One can reach this location from Dam road which needs almost 1 km walk on walkway build on Dams' backwater? There is other way too, vehicle can reach very close to Mandir.
This 2nd option I liked because it's is fully surrounded by rice farms - it was a pleasant journey.
I found very little food options at the location.

One of the best temple of Nayagarh. Beautiful temple. Neat and Clean place. No so much crowded so you can see the amazing temple peacefully. Temple is based in river side so you can enjoy the river view also. The architecture of this temple is just wow. You need to walk almost 100 steps to reach the temple. Parking fee is Rs. 20.
You can take lunch in the temple. Price for lunch is Rs. 80.
There is also a museum just side of the temple near the river side. Ticket price is Rs. 10 for museum. You will understand the history of making Nilamadhaba Temple in the museum.

Visited temple with my wife, Beautiful temple. Amazing location. Great history as well.
Temple adminstration can see the loot happening there from common people but are not doing anything about it.
Temple priests are very nagging, asking money for everything.
I would suggest to stay away from the temple priest for any kind of help, they will tell you that they are not going to ask you for any money but at the end you ll end up paying lot from the pocket.

Reached the place with so many complications. No proper arrangements for water or food. No parking spaces. All the behaviour of staff and priests is so bad. Everyone is in the aim of looting people. The temple is now fully renovated, but the staff behaviour should be improved.

The place where it all started, the place where the fate of Odisha got new beginning, Place of origin our Lord Jagannath. Sad to see the place in the condition it is now, but better late than never the government have sanctioned the glorification of the place. Can't wait to see the temple of Nilamadhava again!!!

If you are plan to visit this place please keep few things in mind -
Cons. -
1) Most horrible part is there is no public toilet or any toilet available neither in the vicinity of the temple nor in the entire area of kantilo.
2) From any tourist spot like puri or bhubaneswar this will take 3 hours atleast to reach, Please note that road is quite bumpy.
3) Pandas are very demanding and misleading at times. Sometimes this will make you doubt whether this is a business place or place of worship.
4) There is no proper arrangement for reaching this place.
Pros.-
1) Location of the mandir is in a good scenic place. Mandir is built on top of a small hill and from there one can see picturseque view of Mahanadi and 'sangam' of 3 rivers.
2) Number of devotees are not that much. So, one don't need to worry about crowd unlike Jagannath Mandir.
3) You may try the lunch offered by the mandir authority there which is good. Rate of this bhog per person is 100 rs as of 2024 and sumptuous.

I am delighted to have had the opportunity to visit the extraordinary Nilamadhaba Temple. This ancient temple, nestled amidst the lush greenery of its surroundings, exudes an aura of tranquility and spirituality that is truly unparalleled. As I stepped foot into the temple premises, I was immediately captivated by its grandeur and the sense of reverence that permeated the air.
The architecture of the Nilamadhaba Temple is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region. The intricate carvings on the walls and pillars depict mythological stories and divine beings, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the artisans who built this magnificent structure. Every nook and cranny of the temple seemed to hold a hidden treasure, inviting me to explore further and unravel the secrets of its past.
Inside the temple, I was greeted by the soothing chants of the priests and the fragrance of incense, creating an atmosphere of serenity and devotion. The main sanctum, adorned with vibrant flowers and adorned with precious jewels, housed the divine idol of Lord Nilamadhaba, the presiding deity of the temple. The sight of the deity, resplendent in all its glory, filled my heart with a sense of awe and reverence.
As I participated in the rituals and observed the devotees offering their prayers, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of peace and spiritual connection. The energy within the temple was palpable, as if the divine presence itself was embracing each and every visitor with its benevolence. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the power and beauty of faith.
The joyous faces of the devotees further enriched my visit, leaving an indelible mark on my memory.
The experience had touched my soul and left me with a renewed sense of purpose and gratitude. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have visited this extraordinary temple and to have been a part of its divine aura. The Nilamadhaba Temple will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I hope to return one day to bask in its divine presence once again.

Sri Nilamadhava Temple is a very old and famous temple which is near the bank of Mahanadi in Kantilo, Odisha, India. It is present near to the twin hills with a surrounding forest. A permanent flow of holy water from the feet of Lord Nilamadhava is another attraction of the spot. Lord Siddheswar is also present which is another highlight of the place.
Lord Nilamadhav occupies a central position in the cult of Lord Jagannath. Even now also Lord Nilamadhava shrine is present on the right side of Lakshmi temple in Puri Temple.
all initiated in a small cave in the Brahmadri hills situated on the banks of Mahanadi, which is known as Kantilo of Nayagarh district today. Here, Biswabasu the local Sabara Chief worshipped Kitung, as the God was known in the Sabara dialect. According to the Puranas, the deity was originally worshipped in the form of an Indranila gem image known as “Nilamadhava". The daru murti came much later.Located near the confluence of three rivers Mahanadi, Kuanria and Kusumi. The temple structure is like the Jagannath temple of Puri. It stands on the right bank of Mahanadi. It is called triveni sangam of Odisha. As there is Beni-Madhava in Prayag, so as here Nilamadhava.

Sri Nilamadhava Temple is very old and Lord Vishnu temple which is near to the bank of Mahanadi river. It is present near to the twin hills with a surrounding forest. One thing that the priest are so much greedy they will irritate you asking money. During the Prasad seban(lunch)they divide the people who is giving more money and they will give extra items which is more disappointed because Prasad is same for everyone. Except that everything is good. Boating is available there.

The environment is good & you can't watch the whole place in one day. Also, the washrooms and toilets are very clean to use. The best part is that you will get lost in the beauty of nature. The Nandankanan Zoological Park is an interesting zoo with a wide variety of animals, including white tigers and pangolins. It is located inside a forest, making it a unique kind of zoo.
Not recommended to visit during summer as the area is huge and walking under the sun will be tiring but still we enjoyed our safari and spent some good time here. The Zoo is well maintained and has enough exotic species like the White Tiger, Royal Bengal Tiger, Leopard and Lion.
Zoo also has large variety of crocodiles, reptiles, bears and giraffes.Entry fee is Rs 50/ per person and for safari is Rs 60/- per person. There is a battery-operated vehicle which makes travelling easy within zoo.

One of the best Zoo's of India. Spread in almost 500 acres of land. Very well maintained, spacious and greenery. Different species of Tigers, monkeys, lions and reptiles are found here along with Giraffe, Chimpanzees and birds.
Purified Cold Drinking water and Toilets are available all around the zoo for the comfort of visitors.
Jungle safari and trains are also available for adventures. Electric vehicles for those who can't walk down the zoo specially for senior citizens.
I personally had a lovely experience and would surely recommend this place to visit both for adults and children.

Well worth a visit, just be patient - the entrance to the market square is set back and very busy, but be patient as the real attraction is at the end. It is also very convenient to bring a car with a battery because it is very large. It was amazing to see tigers, white tigers and lions. Tiger safaris are also good and giraffes can also be seen.
Be sure to hire a guide to help you navigate the large zoo. Proof can be obtained once you receive your tickets.
There is a famous white tiger in the zoo and it is worth seeing. Of course, they have ferocious lions and many tigers. Lots of animals - you decide what to see and let the guide know. It takes at least two hours to walk through the zoo at a brisk pace and see all the animals. A must-see attraction! ! !
Overall, my recommendation is - spend time in Nandankanan by yourself and support the conservation efforts. It is a relatively small zoo, especially if you have been to zoos in India or overseas in bigger cities.

Nandankanan Zoological Park is a true paradise for animal lovers and families alike. Spread over vast acres of lush greenery, the park offers a unique opportunity to witness a wide array of exotic and indigenous species in their naturalistic habitats. The zoo's emphasis on animal welfare and conservation is commendable, providing a safe and enriching environment for its inhabitants.
The park's star attraction is undoubtedly the white tiger safari, where visitors can marvel at the majestic and rare white tigers roaming freely in a spacious enclosure. Additionally, the park houses a rich variety of animals, including elephants, lions, giraffes, and a diverse range of bird species.
What sets Nandankanan apart from other zoos is its unique feature of a botanical garden within the premises. The lush gardens add to the serene ambiance and provide an opportunity for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural beauty.
The zoo's dedication to education and awareness is evident through their informative exhibits and regular conservation programs. Visitors can learn about the importance of wildlife protection and the role each individual can play in safeguarding our planet's precious biodiversity.
However, to fully explore the vast expanse of the park, visitors should come prepared with comfortable walking shoes and plenty of water. Some areas might require better signages and directions for convenience.
In conclusion, Nandankanan Zoological Park is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a memorable and educational wildlife experience. Its commitment to conservation, splendid animal exhibits, and serene surroundings make it an enchanting place to connect with nature and wildlife.

The name "Nandankanan" translates to "The Garden of Heaven" in the local Odia languages.
Nandankanan has a beautiful botanical garden with a wide range of plants, making it an ideal place for nature enthusiasts. The zoo is well-equipped with amenities for visitors including a nature interpretation center, an aquarium, a reptile park, and a walk-in aviary.
Visitors can enjoy safari rides in the zoo, including a white tiger safari and a lion safari, to get a closer look at the animals in a more naturalistic setting. We have seen almost all the animals and it’s worth visiting especially with kids. They will definitely have super fun. Even though it needs a long walk it’s worth going for the animals. The animals were also given cute names to call them. The zoo is kept clean and the animals are well taken care off.
Nandankanan Zoological Park is a place where conservation, education, and recreation come together to provide an enriching experience for visitors while contributing significantly to the conservation of endangered species. It is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in wildlife and nature.

I don't really like Zoological gardens but this place was a bit different. This place was clean and the animals looked well fed. We visited this place last in 2015 and it was pretty well maintained. They also had a conducted tour bus to move conveniently inside the zoo and it was mainly for elder people and families with kids.

I recently visited the Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar, my overall experience was superb. This offers a wide range of fascinating animals and birds, making it a delightful destination for nature enthusiasts and families. The well-maintained enclosures and the presence of helpful maps and guides throughout the zoo made the visit enjoyable.
The variety of animals and birds present at Nandankanan is truly impressive. The zoo offers a glimpse into the diverse world of wildlife. The information provided in front of each enclosure helps visitors to know about the animals.
However, amid the visit, I have a sympathy for some of the animals living in enclosures. Although efforts have been made to create suitable habitats, still the birds and animals are confined to cages.
Some of the additional attractions, such as boating, flying cars, and the safari train, were not operational during my visit.

A nicely setup zoo. It is located on a plot land with trees and scrubs that seem well equipped to accommodate a zoo. There are the usual animals, but we visited this zoo, especially to ser the indian and white tigers. It was mid day, so they were hiding or not very active. The animals were given a good sized cages with enough space to walk and run. Nevertheless, we managed to see some and take photos.
Apart from the zoo, they also have an area that they call Safari. The animals are given a much larger area to live in, and in order to see the animals, you board a bus that drives you through the different safari zones. The drivers were in a hurry to drive you around, which did not allow everybody to make photos or to observe the animals adequately.

The zoo is well maintained with good variety of wild animals and birds. The zoo has a number of Royal Bengal Tigers, White Tigers, Leopards, Lions, Giraffe, range of reptiles and crocs in reptile world, nocturnal animals and many more The zoo also facilitates safari experience (though safari world is not very big in size). You can book your your entry tickets online to enjoy hassle-free check in. Electric vehicles are available on chargeable basis. Overall a great place to enjoy wildlife.

For me, visiting this zoo leads to a good day! There is a different parking spot for the vehicle and it is charged. You need to buy tickets and show them at the entrance gate to get an entry, also you'll encounter a large crowd at the ticket counters. Tickets for individuals as well as for the safari guide are available. Since it consists of so much of diversities that are put together, that includes various animals, birds, and reptiles; you'll not find it boring at all to explore this place with your friends and family. The environment provided to the respective creatures somehow mimics their natural habitat or the wild, as well as their basic needs, are being fulfilled. The creatures where they are enclosed are quite as natural as that of the wild including a room-like space.

Wide variety of animals and birds. The animals are also well taken care of and healthy. E-tempos help to travel the big zoo which is really nice. Would recommend to carry plenty of water beforehand as there are very few places where water is available once inside the zoo.

Our recent visit to Nandankanan left us feeling quite disappointed. While we were excited to spend a day with our family exploring the park, our experience fell short of our expectations.
The park's layout and organization seemed confusing, making it challenging to navigate from one exhibit to another. We found the signage to be inadequate, leaving us unsure about which direction to go and which animals were in each area. This led to some frustration and wasted time as we tried to find our way around.
Another letdown was the condition of some of the animal enclosures. It was disheartening to see a few enclosures that appeared cramped and in need of maintenance. The animals' well-being should be a top priority, and we were concerned about their living conditions in certain areas of the park.
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the park was a concern. We noticed litter in some sections, which detracted from the overall experience and the natural beauty of the surroundings.
On a positive note, there were a few exhibits that were well-maintained and offered an interesting glimpse into different species. However, these positive aspects were overshadowed by the overall lackluster experience we had during our visit.
NOTE: Scammers alert- DON'T BUY GUIDE TICKET FROM OUTSIDE AS IT'S A SCAM, THEY WILL QUOTE A PRICE OF RS.800/640...BUT IF YOU CHECK THE ACTUAL PRICE INSIDE THE PARK IT'S QUITE CHEAPER.

Nandankanan Zoological Park offers an incredible opportunity to witness a diverse range of animals in a captivating setting. This zoo experience is truly thrilling and filled with delightful encounters.
Visiting Nandankanan Zoological Park was an unforgettable adventure. The park is home to a wide variety of animals, and seeing them up close was an exhilarating experience. From majestic tigers and graceful elephants to playful primates and colorful birds, the zoo showcases an impressive collection of wildlife.
The well-maintained enclosures provide a comfortable habitat for the animals, and the park's commitment to conservation and animal welfare is commendable. It's heartening to see the efforts put into ensuring the animals' well-being.
The park's layout is well-designed, allowing visitors to explore different sections and discover various species. The informative signage and knowledgeable staff further enhance the experience by providing interesting facts and insights about the animals.
Nandankanan Zoological Park also offers additional attractions such as the White Tiger Safari and the Lion Safari, which provide a unique opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitats.
Overall, Nandankanan Zoological Park offers an exciting and educational experience for all ages. It's a must-visit destination for animal lovers, providing a chance to appreciate the beauty and diversity of wildlife in a well-maintained and enriching environment.

Worth visiting, have patience— At the entry it feels very down market place and crowded , but you need to have patience as the real attraction is at the end. Take battery car as it is very big and really easy if you take battery car. It is great to see Tiger , white tiger, lion. Tiger safari was also very good, Giraffe also you can see.

A really decent zoo, on its way to become a quite unique zoo. The varieties and quantities of animals they have is not that impressive compared to other famous zoos I've visited. But it is fairly entertaining. They even have battery cars for the elderly who can't walk.
One special point about them is that they have an area where they have separate division for types of animals. Like bear, tigers, lion they all live in a real mini forest made for them and we enter it through a bus. Loved the concept.

Here the ticket for adults is ₹ 40 and for children up to 12 years, it is ₹ 10. Without a ticket, you will not be allowed inside and the voting area here is very dirty. We had reached before time so we were able to see some and see everything. The park closes at 5:00 pm. It was very nice to send the staff here.

Government maintenance is lacking here. Consider hiring a guide; otherwise, you'll just be looking at animals with no context. Guide rates are ₹250 per hour for groups under 10 and ₹300 per hour for over 10 people. Even with a guide, opt for an e-vehicle ticket for a less tiring and comprehensive zoo experience. Instead of a counter ticket, scan for an e-ticket outside the ticket building. Guides may ask ₹500; show them the government rates on the website to negotiate. E-vehicle tickets may have queues but are worth it. Unfortunately we didn't get safari tickets due to crowd. The tour takes 1.30-2 hours; carry a water bottle and eat beforehand as outside food isn't allowed. Remember your cap and goggles after 11 am. The diverse animal collection is fascinating with a guide. Closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly.

Beautiful and wonderful place,The zoo is so well maintained and clean...best to spend time with family and make young bloods(children) learn new things, Ticket price is ₹50/head. I would suggest you to book tickets online just ₹1 extra per head. It's worth it for that price and I would definitely recommend to visit.. You can do boating here.. Even there is a ropeway which costs ₹120/ head. . There are variety of creatures.... There are battery auto's by which can have a tour of nandankanan.. But I prefer you to take a walk ... Because it will give you time to take pictures , have time to see animals 🐵🐔🐷

Since my initial visit to this zoo in 2010, it has, I believe, seen significant development. However, there may yet be a need for improvement in areas such as cleanliness and visitor transportation throughout the zoo. These days, animals are far healthier. The unfathomable amount of individuals that visit Nandankana astounds me. It's a good location, after all, and well worth the money and time you spend. You and your family will have a great time. Making a reservation in advance gives you additional benefits when you visit the zoo.

The caves are located atop a hill, and visitors need to climb a flight of stairs to reach them. Once inside the caves, visitors can marvel at the intricate carvings and sculptures that adorn the walls and ceilings. The caves are filled with intricate carvings of animals, birds, and other mythical creatures, as well as statues of the Jain Tirthankaras.
Overall, the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Hills are a must-visit location for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. I visited the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves with my family last week and I was amazed by the historical and religious significance of these ancient rock-cut caves. The caves are located on two adjacent hills, which offer a panoramic view of the city of Bhubaneswar. The caves are well-maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India and have informative signboards and guides to explain the history and architecture of the caves.
The caves are believed to be built during the 1st century BCE by King Kharavela of the Mahameghavahana dynasty for the Jain monks. The caves have beautiful carvings and sculptures depicting various scenes from Jainism, Buddhism and Hinduism. Some of the notable caves are Hathi Gumpha, which has a 17-line inscription of King Kharavela's achievements; Ranigumpha, which is a double-storeyed monastery with a courtyard; Ananta Gumpha, which has images of snakes, elephants and lions; and Ganesha Gumpha, which has a figure of Lord Ganesha on the doorway.
The caves are open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day and have a nominal entry fee of Rs. 15 for Indians and Rs. 200 for foreigners. There is also a fee of Rs. 25 for video cameras. The caves can be reached by bus, auto-rickshaw or taxi from Bhubaneswar. The best time to visit the caves is during the winter season when the weather is pleasant and comfortable.
I would highly recommend visiting the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves to anyone who is interested in exploring the rich cultural heritage of Odisha. The caves are a testimony to the artistic and religious diversity of ancient India and offer a glimpse into the life and beliefs of the Jain monks. The caves are also a great place to enjoy some peace and tranquility amidst nature. I would rate the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves 5 out of 5 stars for their historical, architectural and spiritual value.
Regards

The historic places to visit with family. Both are different. One is free & other is chargeable to enter. Have to be careful while climbing especially old age people. At the common entrance there are alot of monkeys thief. Be careful with them. They may snatch your purse or any handbag. They do it because people feed them so they don't fear people. They expect people to feed them of not they will snatch the purse or bag in search of food. Sometimes people lost their costlier belonging if they have any jewellery or mobile in purse of they snatch it they run away so chances that you may loss the belonging. Be alert.

Nestled in the Old City, Cuttack Odisha, on the confluence of River Mahanadi, Mother Chandi is the main deity who is looking after and protecting this Premier Capital of Odisha .This powerful black stone deity is the ruler of Cuttack and a living goddess.
According to legend, the present piece of land, where the holy temple is located, was lying fallow before. Late Sri Hansa Panda, who happens to be the Purohit of the then King of Kanika, experienced a strange unusual feeling within himself. Surprisingly on the same night, The Goddess "Chandika" appeared in his dream and requested him to take her out of the land.
The image of the deity is older than the temple. It is believed that she was the family deity of the Gajapati Empire in the medieval age, due to Islamic invaders' attacks she was buried while the kings migrated to Puri. This temple was established in 1946.

The arati timing of this temple is 6:30 PM. The shoe stand price is 5/- per footwear. The mandira bhog is 100/- and one deep is 20/-. The holy place is a bit pricey so better take your own puja essentials from home. The vibe is very positive and powerful here so make sure you have cleansed your brain before entering the temple or else you'll not be able to understand the feel I'm talking about. Remember to leave space in front of the lion to see maa during the arati. That's what you need to know for visiting the temple.

The Odisha State Maritime Museum in Cuttack is dedicated to showcasing the region's maritime heritage. Visitors can view various ship equipment, such as compasses and maps, as well as model boats and exhibits on boat-making processes. The museum also features an aquarium and a 4D cinema that synchronizes seat movements with video footage for an immersive experience. Admission prices are reasonable, with parking available for two-wheelers at a small fee.
This place is all time fresh. I visited place years back with as my school visit on behalf of the heritage club. After that i visited yesterday and everything was so fresh. One won't feel age bias on the basis of the 4K show or the mirramaze the aquarium or everything over there. I loved every little detail of that place. One must visit once if ever visited Cuttack.

It's a fun place for kids and equally good for youngsters and adults to hang out. Unlike usual boring museums, it's a place that provides lots of other means to spend time with family and there is something for everyone. Along with the maritime history of Odisha, it also has a beautiful aquarium, a mirror maze, a 4D movie hall and a well maintained park. There is a small cafeteria with limited snacks options and a small souvenir shop too. But the cleanliness and response of staff could be improved.

A very good example of the architecture and design skills of our history.
One important point: Since this is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the rush on Mondays is very high. So, it is better to go very early in order to have a darshan.

I was blessed to visit this wonder on Akshaya Tritiya. There is no entry fee. Mobiles are not allowed. Ideal time to visit here is mornings and evenings to avoid the heat.

Great architecture, the main deity is almost at below ground level unlike other Shiva Lingas. There are many small temples inside housing many different Shiva Lingas.
I loved the temple architecture. The only deterrent are the one who does Pooja (Brahmins). They are money hungry, creating constant sounds like put 300-500 on the deity to get blessings. Offer 10 rupees on the foot to get what you need etc.
I would like to hear from them Om namashivaya chants or mantras which create more positive energy.
You are supposed to leave your mobile outside the temple which is a welcome move. If govt does some renovation of dilapidated structures through ASI it will be even great.
Let's make our heritage and religious beliefs even better.

Another hiatorical place pf Odisha. You can spend a large time here if you have believe in god and spiritual matters. The rocky structure and arts in the wall of the temple are also attractions for tourist. However, there so much issue. You need to keep your shoes and mobile outside the temple. There is no proper place to keep them safely. In summer the floor become too hot.

The Rajarani temple is one of the temples in Khandagiri and it is known for its intricate carvings. The temple was built sometime around the 11th or 12th century and features erotic sculptures of couples and women.
At a distance of 4 km from Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Rajarani Temple is one of the most renowned and the famous temples situated towards north-east of Lingaraja Temple in Bhubaneshwar. Maintained by Archaeological Survey of India, it is one of the must visit tourist places in Bhubaneswar.
Built in 11th century CE, the Rajarani Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is referred in the traditional Sanskrit texts as Indresvara Shiva Temple. The temple is known for its sculptural excellence, profusion of ornaments, exuberant architectural features and multiple scroll work. The present name Rajarani has been derived from the local sandstone used to build it. Rajarani Temple is also called as 'Love Temple', because the temple contains the erotic carvings of women and couples. The temple has a lot of historical importance.
Rajarani Temple is built in the pancha ratha style on a raised platform with two structures, a central shrine called the Vimana with a bada (curvilinear spire) over its roof rising to a height of 18 m and a jagamohana with a pyramidal roof. There is a range of smaller carved spires on the main spire. Amalaka, a stone disk with ridges on the rim, is placed over the tower of the temple. A kalasa surmounts the amalaka as the crowning finial. The plan of the jagamohana is square compared to the rectangular ones present in earlier temples. This temple is the reminiscent of the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple of Khajuraho.
The main sanctum of the temple is devoid of any deity. But there are some obvious features which indicate that the temple has a Shaivite origin. The temple has the presence of Shaiva Dwarapalakas named Prachanda and Chanda. The main attraction of this temple is sculptures of Astadikpalas, the eight temple guards who protects the temple from the different directions. The eight guardians are namely: Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirriti, Varuna, Vayu, Kubera and Ishana.

Well maintained by ASI. It's called temple but their is no Idol and it's empty. Outside architecture is beautiful to see. Inside is bit smelly and few bats are their.
Garden is well maintained. And it's a good location for marriage photography for both bride and groom.
Clean Garden. But during summer time please come with Umbrella or hats because their is less big tree to sit under the shadow during scorching summer.
Entry Fee 25. The architecture of the temple is worth the look.

The red and yellow colored sandstone is referred to as ‘Rajarani’ in the local language. Hence, the temple is named as Rajarani Temple! The history of the Rajarani Temple dates back to the 11th century. It was built by lndraratha, a famous Somavamsi dynasty ruler
This beautiful temple does not have deity or conducts Pujas. There is a strong belief that it has connection to Shiva worship. There is no presiding deity in the shrine, but it is believed that it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The outer structure is so intricately carved with beautiful women. This place is maintained well by ASI. A small entry fee is levied.

Rajarani Temple in Bhubaneswar is a magnificent temple that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Odisha. The temple is located in the city's heart and is a popular tourist attraction. The temple's architecture is stunning, with intricate carvings and beautiful sculptures adorning the walls. The temple is made of red and yellow sandstone, which gives it a unique and vibrant look.
The temple's main attraction is the idol of Lord Brahma, which is believed to be one of the few temples in India dedicated to him. The temple also has several other deities, including Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The temple is surrounded by a beautiful garden, which adds to the overall charm and tranquility of the place. Nice historical place on a hilltop on the outskirts of Bhuvaneshwar. This is near the place where the famous battle of Kalinga took place. The legend is that it is on this hillock that Emperor Ashoka realised the futility of war.
The road uphill ends in a small parking lot surrounded by outlets selling traditional items, food etc...the typical scenario in any tourist spot. Many people also bring along food and have picnics among the woods in the hillside. From this parking lot, there is a short wall up the steps to the Stupa.

**Dhauli Shanti Stupa**: A Tranquil Oasis in Odisha
Perched atop the serene **Dhauli Giri Hills**, the **Shanti Stupa** stands as a testament to peace and transformation. Here, amidst the heart-stirring landscapes of Odisha, ancient bloodshed has metamorphosed into a beacon of tranquility.
**1. Historical Significance:**
Dhauli Giri Hills is believed to be the very spot where the **Kalinga War** unfolded. In 272 B.C., Emperor **Ashoka the Great** witnessed the aftermath of this brutal battle. Horrified by the destruction, he underwent a profound transformation—from a ruthless conqueror to a devoted follower of **Buddhism**. Carvings of an elephant's head and forelegs, India's oldest rock-cut sculpture, mark this sacred site, symbolizing the birth of Buddha and the emergence of Buddhism⁴.
**2. The Shanti Stupa:**
The **Peace Pagoda** crowns the hill, its magnificent architecture adorned with sculpted images of **Lord Buddha**. As you ascend the steps, the symphony of silence envelops you, echoing far beyond the marble edifice. The stupa whispers tales of Ashoka's enlightenment, shaping centuries of Buddhist tradition. From this vantage point, gaze upon the beautiful **Daya River** and the city of **Bhubaneswar** below⁴.
**3. Light and Sound Show:**
Every evening, except Mondays, the hill hosts a mesmerizing **Light and Sound Show**. It weaves together history, spirituality, and the legacy of Ashoka. As the sun sets, the stupa comes alive, narrating the poignant journey from war to peace. The show is a poignant reminder of humanity's capacity for transformation and compassion⁴.
In summary, **Dhauli Shanti Stupa** invites you to pause, reflect, and embrace the serenity that arises from the ashes of conflict. Visit this sacred haven and let its whispers of peace resonate within your soul. 🕊️🙏🏽

Visited during the summer season and it was really really hot.. I would suggest going there during the winter months to enjoy.. Please avoid scorching summers.. The photos are not of the Dhauli Stupa but of the nearby area. One can enjoy this view and even see Daya river from here..

Located at the lap of mountains that's why the scenery of this place is amazing.

Very nice place for early morning and evening visits. It's calm and rich in history. But authorities should not allow visitors to have picnic and gatherings here.
