Ecological park
Outdoor Activities
Family-friendly ecopark with a safari-style zoo & feeding area, plus a zip line & camel rides.
Great little zoo sandwiched in some beautiful mountains. Fascinating mix of animals along with pony and camel rides. Also has a safari area too but I didn't go to that. Unfortunately the gift shop closes 30 min before closing to missed going to it.

Are only few options for lunch and the hens and roosters are always waiting for you to feed them, is a quick visit due to the entertainment options

Beutiful place to enjoy with your kids
Aida Miguelito — Google review
We stopped there after not being able to go up to the Grutas de García, since the cable car wasn’t working.
To our surprise Xenpal was very entertaining.
Our 4 year old niece had a lot of fun feeding the animals. The safari tour on our own car was also fun with a black lama’s face inside the car begging for carrots.
leebelulaz — Google review
It's ok. Don't go into the xafari, it's an extra cost, you risk your car (horrible terrain and horned animals) and you can see/find the same a imals that are inside the park. The park complex was ok. it's a mini zoo but you can pet and feed the animals, kids had fun .
Makkuro Law — Google review
Terrible for the animals. Does anyone that leaves these positive reviews even care one tiny bit about the animals there? The zebra in the barren enclosure, the camel forced to give people rides all day, the caged primates, etc..? Apparently not because it’s all about their fun for the day! Not the years of misery the animals endure. This is not their home, this is not a sanctuary, it’s a money making, profiting business. The animals are there to make that tourist money. Great job tourists! Go do something else on your vacation instead of contributing to the exploitation of animals. Please!
Devon Benton — Google review
This is a beautifully kept place where you get to see wildlife. It's fun, nurturing and the staff is quite knowledgeable and they walk you through the different areas of Xenpal. Massively fun place for kids and adults! Definitely a site that you need to go to see wildlife at its finest. Loved it!!! 🦌🦒🦃

If your in the area (or not) it would totally be worth your detour or planned stop to admire this one of its kind collage in Monterrey Mexico. This was incredibly breathtaking. We really enjoyed walking around this park and admire the gorgeous Neptune statues. You won't be disappointed.

When I visited here a couple years ago, I was stunned at how beautiful this was. If anything, I'd hope they continue to maintain it and even clean up the sides of the fountain.
Wish I got to take more photos of it with a better camera, but hopefully I'll be back another time.

The museum features a collection of artifacts and photographs from the history of Monterrey and surrounding areas. It is open Monday through Saturday 9am to 4pm, and Sunday 1pm to 3pm. There is a small fee to enter. The views from the museum are amazing, and it's a great place to relax and take in all the city has to offer.
Beautiful and incredibly peaceful place to sit and look over the city of Monterrey. Clean and safe. All the busyness goes away and you can sit, tour, view the museum, walk around. Priceless.

What an awesome building - Small fee to enter. Awesome Views and lots of history for you to view inside this awesome structure. You will spend about 30 minutes inside this facility
Fernando Morales — Google review
It is a very nice place, but unfortunately, most of Monterey's history appears to have been erased. There is very little content in the museum regarding the Spanish conquistadors. Likewise, this is apparently the only building, apart from the cathedral, left from that era.
Niel Landeg — Google review
It was an amazing walk going up the hill. Great views all around. The museum had some interesting specimens.
Ervin Eliud — Google review
There are two ways to get up to the museum. One was closed because of street repairs, but the other was open. However, there were no signs indicating that possibility

This is a nice museum that displays history of the local people and events in the late 1700's to mid 1800's. The displays show art, culture, religion, and military history. There is no charge to visit. If you enjoy Mexican history, this is a good choice.

Planetarium Alfa is a popular science museum with interactive exhibits about planets and stars. The aviary is also a fun place to visit, and there is an IMAX theater for showings of movies with stunning visuals. The property is clean and the staff are friendly. Adults cost MX$120 per visit.
This is a must seen place if you are visiting Monterrey, the museum is great and there are many things to see, specially for kids.
There is an IMAX theater, a museum for kids where you you can see dinosaurs, interactive things to do and many other stuffs.
Also there are ducks and turkeys, they can be feeded and in some cases can be thought.
There are several open areas and also there is a place call the ' El jardín de la ciencia' or the ' science garden' where the kids can interact and learn many things related with phisics.
Pablo Gutierrez — Google review
Originally this place was home of one of the most important business in Monterrey history, he gave this place as a donation for city culture, therefore seems to be privately administrated, the place is well kept, offers science games for kids, museum, a variety of exhibitions from science, art, history and of course the main thing, Cosmos, Universe, a huge Imax screen that makes you feel you are inside the film, films which are around 45 mins in style of Discovery or NatGeo. This place is a must and has been a seeder of culture for several generations. Offers indoors and outdoors attractions, cafe, souvenirs and a small zoo. Oh I almost forget, there is also an observatory with profesional powerful telescope.
Jerry Gold — Google review
Great place to visit for those interested in the planets and stars, but also for those that love peacocks. The birds are beautiful and there are many male and females on site. Several of the females were tending to their eggs or newly hatched chicks. Ducks with chicks were also fun to watch. There are good exhibits inside and out. Just inside the main building are saltwater fish tanks with and array of sea life. The planetarium show was on extreme weather and was interesting. Adequate restroom facilities. Clean property. Cost for adults is MX$120.

I'll never travel to Guanajuato without this trip planner again
This ecological park is a beautiful place to explore nature trails and mountainside observatory. The park is filled with lush vegetation, mountainous terrain, and abundant wildlife. It's perfect for hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, or simply relax in the serene surroundings. The visitor center has maps and information on the various trails throughout the park. There are also restaurants and cafes in the town of Chipinque which makes it a great place to spend a day or two exploring the area.
"Chipinque Ecological Park offers a wonderful hiking experience amidst breathtaking scenery. It's truly the best place to unwind and connect with nature. Whether you're seeking serene views or a challenging hike, Chipinque has it all. Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in tranquility."

My son who is in a wheelchair had a bear encounter and the bear got so close that he even though of petting him but wisely decided not to do it. Good thing he didn't get nervous and was very calm while the bear was sniffing him. You can see my son in the photo and the bear at that point hunting for food in the trash. By the way I was in another area of the premises while the bear was close to him and probably was better because I would have run towards the bear to try to scare him an who knows what other outcome we would have had.

TRAVEL TIP: Buy your tickets online ahead of time…otherwise struggle to get wifi there to buy them online and waste a lot of time as the transaction struggles to go through. ($80 for 1 person or 2 for $140)
The park is beautiful and well-taken care of. Lots of trails and clean bathrooms and playgrounds for kids. We saw deer and coati.

A great place to experience the beauty of the great outdoors. The goal is to hike up a few miles to get to the top of Chipinque, or if you are not feeling that adventurous you can drive very slowly to the top. The views are incredible and they have multiple stops equipped with bathroom facilities and benches to rest before you continue on. Even though you are in the middle of Monterrey you feel like you are out in the wilderness. Very challenging and very enjoyable!

This is an amazing place but it needs to be taking care of, we found so much trash and the locals have a weird vibe... not welcoming at all, that might be the reason why we were seeing so much trash but it's a beautiful place make us sad and upset that was so dirty, we picked up 3 bags people were looking at us weird, they were a lot of drunk driving in 4whellers people, not my kind of fun but please be safe if you come visit but honestly was worth the drive.

Great place to visit as a tourist. You can easily drive here from Monterrey, just beware, the last 15 minutes there are uphill and it's not a great road (stray dogs, lots of businesses with parked cars, huge trucks destroying the roads, narrow spaces).
It's nothing incredibly difficult but something to consider.
They sell snacks there, souvenirs, Mexican crafts, they have a donkey you can ride horses and carts pulled by horses to get go the waterfall, but you can more than easily walk, nothing complicated and very little stairs.
Buy your ticket online ahead, then have strict control rules to avoid crowds during the pandemic.
They also have a zipline and bungee jumping if you are into extreme sports.

This place is breathtaking. Lots of picture opportunities and great spots to cookout and have fun with friends and family. Stay well hydrated in the summer, it gets really HOT! Also, be careful not to pay some locals for unofficial parking. They’ll try to charge you $50 MXN or $40 MXN, when in reality the official park parking only charges you $30 MXN plus the entrance fee. Just keep driving until you see the official Cola De Caballo parking sign.

Museo del Desierto is a modern natural history museum located in Saltillo, showcasing various exhibits on the Chihuahuense Desert and its formation due to sea currents. Visitors can find dinosaur skeletons, fossils, live animals such as reptiles and gray wolves, prairie dogs and a botanical garden with over 400 cactus species. This top attraction provides an enjoyable day out for families to explore the history of Saltillo while learning about geology, paleontology and biology.
It is a nice place to visit, has many information that is share with videos, text, pictures, etc.
ait is a long walk, it could be tiring for some people, but is very nice.
Also, at the end of the walk, you can buy some souvenirs.

In comparison to many other museums in other much advanced and bigger cities the visit is really well on advised. Not only is informative but fun too. The zoo part not a big one but the history museum is really nice.
I don't know much Spanish but there are audio guides in English.
The 3d experience is a fun thought but needs quality improvement.

Excellent way to spend the day! I was really blown away by the size and scope of this location: museum, green house, zoo, mercado, snack bar, and a dinosaur area. It was PACKED when we went, but it was a public holiday. I don’t know how it is on a normal weekend or weekday. They had an audio tour that was available in English and Spanish. Excellent place to get away. The kids loved it and so did I. We went on a nice cool day and the animals were very active on the zoo part. The museum is a lot bigger than I thought and spent around 3-4 hours there. The place is very well maintained

Huge place and a must see if you are in the Saltillo area. I was pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of this museum. While the main attraction seems to be fossil exhibits they have some history exhibits as well. The added bonus of a small zoo was surprising too. Very nice place overall, a bit crowded and lacks any real lunch options but other than that it’s a great place to visit.

I was not expecting such an amazing museum, I had doubts with the museum title and the day I went was about 90 degrees outside so I was not very thrilled about it but when I go there and I saw what it really was , I can definitely say everything was worth it , they have a lot to offer.

Beautifully designed and full of so much detail. I'm glad I took the time to bring the family out here to visit this museum. The place is bigger than it looks so bring snacks or visit the dining area inside. It took us almost 3 hours to walk through and enjoy it.

The Museo de Las Aves de México is an exceptional museum showcasing a diverse collection of Mexican bird specimens, accompanied by exhibits that delve into their natural habitats and conservation efforts. The displays are incredibly realistic, with some featuring actual live birds. The knowledgeable children's guides add to the overall educational experience. Additionally, the museum itself holds historical significance and boasts an exquisite ensemble. As one of Mexico's top ten museums, it exemplifies contemporary museography and even offers convenient parking.
It was really informative and fun! Full of history and represent the passion of one man. It has a very rare specimen, a White Peacock! It's must to visit place in Saltillo.

Very nice museum, lots of things to see and learn. The content of the gallery in itself was plentiful. If you expect to see living birds, this may not be it (only had 3 living samples outdoors). Would strongly encourage you to pay a visit if you are in town.

Amazing collection of birds. Takes you through the evolution of dinosaurs into birds and many species of both extinct and living birds. The space itself is dignified and beautiful. Hummingbirds feast in the courtyard amd it is a great spot for birding.

It Is impossible, not to extend a fantastic opinion in regards to this place. The exhibits are all life like, some of them are real life. Plus the kids guides are all very knowledgeable about the place. Not forgetting that the hall is in itself a very historic place you should ask for the ensemble... exquisite !!!
Homero Jimenez — Google review
This is the most impressive collection and commentary on birds in any country we have ever had the immense pleasure of visiting. If this was the only highlight of Saltillo, it would still be highly worthwhile to visit. The museum is utmost in professionalism, with interactive screens that provide information on the hundreds of birds. But the real highlight is how stuffed representatives of the birds are situated in simulated ecosystems. Even the rocks are made to look like the real thing. The birds are even given a semblance of character: some look out curiously, others aggressively, and others lovingly at their tiny offspring.
This museum is very highly recommended, for families, bird amateurs but also for avian experts. A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

The Ogarrio Tunel is kind of creepy cause as you ho through there are these wooden frames that hold up the cieling and it doesn't look safe at all but it's the only way for tourists to get to the other side. One time I went over the tunnel with my Chevrolet Tracker 4x4 and we had to fix the old road . It was an experience I will never forget.

This is an ok hotel in Real de Catorce, the rooms are clean, hot water, beds not very comfortable, no tv, internet very, very slow. They do not accept credit cards. This hotel is one of a few that have a garage to keep your car in, which that was the reason for me to stay in this hotel. Very close to the plaza and stores. Overall I think this hotel and town is perfect for people that wants to get away from the city and wants a little peace in their lives.

It's like going back in time hundreds of year. Real de 14 is a magical town with amazing vibes hard to leave from. If you ever come don't forget to stop by the "la esquina chata" coffee for a cup of coffee and a piece of a delicious pay. Also the small shops that sell gorditas and quesadillas in front the main plaza are a great option to grab a quick bite.

Plaza Hidalgo is a remarkable destination, where one can relax and marvel at the splendid craftsmanship of nature. This enchanting spot allows visitors to mingle with friendly locals and encounter the vibrant tales of the town from enthusiastic children who may even serenade you. Additionally, it offers an array of delectable cuisine, lively musical performances, and exhibits by talented regional artists. Moreover, for those seeking solace from negative energies, there are cleansing and therapeutic rituals readily available.
Is a magical place where you can just sit down and observe the gorgeous creation of God, and get to know many nice people and if you stay for a while you can listen the story of the town by some kids that will even sing for you, you can also enjoy delicious food around and live music and local artists... If you feel like getting rid off some bad vibes you can get a cleaning/healing ritual right there... So much to see in such a little place, but is totally worth it!

Real de Catorce is a village in the central Mexican state of San Luis Potosí. Set on a desert plateau in the Sierra de Catorce range, it was a prosperous colonial silver mining hub. Access to the village is via the long Ogarrio Tunnel, which passes through the surrounding peaks. The 18th-century Parish of the Immaculate Conception church houses the shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi, a popular pilgrimage site.

Amazing place!!! I strongly recommend hiking instead of horse riding. It's very rocky though, 1.2 km approximately from Real de Catorce but, if you're lucky and it's not very difficult, you may be there alone, and on that way you'll enjoy it more. I saw the horses tours when I was there and they let you walk around for 20 min maybe, and always with the guide, it's not the best way to enjoy the place. There are plenty of spots to take cool pics and if you go alone it's better to explore. There's a mine inside which you can enter.

There is a tale told of a man that would doctor the minors that got sick during their mining excavations. He passed away and he becomes ordained into a saint San Francisco De Asis.
A statue of him is erected and stories are told that his spirit comes out to heal the minors.
Also there is a spirit woman that appears along the road but she vanishes quickly.

Beautiful scenic ruins of a 17-18th century silver mine. The horse ride to it is 30-40min, on a steep windy mountain trail.
Huasteca Potosina Tours offer specific English-speaking tours at 10 am and 3 pm, which can be purchased online in advance. The place is described as magical, with stunning waterfalls and mesmerizing blue rivers that make it a must-visit for a couple of days. It's recommended to have your own transportation due to high season crowds. The area is hot and humid with mosquitoes, so bringing repellent is advised.
A magical place to visit! The waterfalls and the amazing blue water of the rivers are really something’s special!
Make sure to plan to stay for a couple of days. It’s best to have your own transportation as it gets crowded at the beautiful spots in high season judging from the photos. I was there in mid October 2022 and had some of the places almost for myself in the mornings
The place is hot and humid and hat quite some mosquitoes when I was there so make sure to bring your repellent along.

I decided to book the 4 day pack. It was perfect. Amazing price (about $350). This included the hotel quinta mar (which was a great place), included the breakfast tickets to eat at the hotel (actual big plates of food, not just your low continental breakfast), also included a meal at the end of the day after every tour (every place the guides take you is amazing food), the entrance fee for every "park" you book, transportation in comfy vans with ac (they pick you up and drop you off at the hotel), and all this on top of amazing guides that's know it all.
Our guides were Pepe (he went above and beyond, our favorite), Juan (went beyond and was awesome), David (amazing and super friendly), and Wilbur? (He also was great). Then the person that helped me get the process done, Tania, she was amazing and helpful through the whole process.
For paying the 20% down, I just went to an oxxo and did the transfer. It was super easy and tool like 3 min. Don't feel sketch about it.

The Centro de las Artes San Luis Potosí is an art center located in a restored 19th-century gaol. The complex houses a museum in the former cells as well as sculpture displays. Visitors can enjoy the constant fresh breeze while exploring the many different areas of the center. This beautifully transformed former prison is a must-see for anyone interested in art and history.

From the videos and reviews that I have seen and read, they make little justice. First, the place is ENORMOUS. You really can't capture it until you see it for yourself. From outside one can't tell. There's many patios and places to explore. Everything is kept extremely clean, quiet, serene, just beautiful. To top it all a fresh clean breeze runs constantly. And this is just the outside. We have visited a couple of times for wine tasting and lunch. The vineyard is wonderful, some of the wines are very nice, in particular the Pago de Vega and Nebiollo, and the food is always great and freshly prepared. The reason for one star review is their sommelier. He does the wine tasting and presentation. He is moody, seemingly uninterested in his job and guests, and comes across as arrogant. He doesn't tell anything about the winery and their wine making process unless asked and then is annoyed with the questions. We don't understand that they allow a person with his arrogance and disinterest being the ambassador of the brand towards the guests.

We enjoyed a wine tasting plus charcuterie board. My husband choose the 5 premium reds. I choose regular tasting which included red table wine and 1 dry white. By far the red premium wines were excellent. I enjoyed the syrah the best. I also enjoyed the seared tuna tostada. Oscar, our host spoke English and gave us much information about the winery and what we were drinking. A very memorable experience. Recommend making a reservation.

I am a person that has traveled the world in search of great food and wine. I was very excited about exploring the emerging Mexican Wine market and hoping San Miguel, Mexico was on the path to being a real player in the wine world. Let's put aside the quality of the wine, because that is subjective to the individual. My complaint is with the winery, staff and experience. We were the only 2 people there. There must have been at least 7 winery staff floating around. We paid for a very expensive tasting with a paired charcuterie board. I'm talking above Napa Valley wineries tasting prices expensive in the middle of nowhere, Mexico. They poured us a few wines and threw down a plate of cheese and basically left. No interaction, not conversation, NO EXPERIENCE! I ask to speak with the manager and they came back to say he was busy and couldn't talk to us. Do not waste $100 in taxis driving out from San Miguel for this winery. Not to mention the wines were below average at best.
Tammy Jo Long — Google review
My girlfriend and I went to to experience the wine, knowing it’s very young and our expecatations where low . Saying that we where expecting a service! Nope.. it was the worst service I have ever experienced , over rated with service… our wine testing consisted of a 3 to 5 second with there so called wine connoisseur. Magnificent architecture! You can see bullet holes from a long time ago engraved in the front of the building. The inside is incredible and the design of this place is breath taking. So much history to be learned from this place. This is where Mexico fought for its independence long ago. This beautiful church stands tall among the local buildings. Please keep an eye out for the intricate details found on the front facade, which are made of cantera. Construction first began in 1712, and three centuries later it still remains as a prime example of baroque churrigueresque style. Upon entering the facilities, gaze up to the ceiling and you will discover a taste of centuries past.

It was amazing to visit the house of my favorite Mariachi singer and composer! They charge $60 pesos per person.

A little crowded, never the Less a good place to visit and see how the homes and people used to live. Good place to learn some history and the cover is friendly.

This museum is easy to find, is filled with a lot of JAJ artifacts, and has a good little gift shop at the end. We bought a copy of the big mural.

Lovely place with great detail about the life and successful about this singer and author. You can spend one or two hours with a guide or only read all the details about him because the museum it's very well document. Also you can see a exclusive oil painting of Octavio Ocampo very impressive.

Santuario de Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco, often referred to as the Sistine Chapel of Mexico, is a must-see destination. The church's ceiling paintings may not be as grand as those in the Sistine Chapel, but they are still captivating. The site also features a store selling treats made by nuns, including the famous "Nun Farts" cookies and candies.
Don’t really care too much about the church, but the food outside the church is so good. Highly recommend.

An absolutely marvelous that definitely deserves to be a part of 2 UNESCO world heritage sites. Entry is free and there's a small gift stall. There are only really 2 main halls for you to enter so it's not that big, but it's worth visiting. Uber is available.

It was pretty neat. It probably takes longer to get to than to see, but it was worth the trip.
I caught the bus from de Luz and animas in San Miguel at 9:30am and got to the Sanctuary minutes before it opened at 10. After spending about a half hour seeing the place (there was only one room to see), I only waited a couple minutes at the bus stop to head back to San Miguel.
Admission was free, but you can make a donation.

This church is known as the Sistine Chapel of Mexico. The paintings on the ceiling aren’t quite as impressive as the Sistine Chapel, but they are still interesting to see. They have a store attached that sells cookies and candies made by the nuns. The most famous are called “Pedos de Monja” which translates as “Nun Farts”. We haven’t tried them yet, but I am hoping they don’t taste 😂anything like I’m imagining they do

In case there’s no guide to “overhear” let me tell you: the paintings are not “frescoes” as the ceiling was plastered years before it was painted. It has been re-painted, finished 5 years ago, so the colors are bright. The store beside it benefits the church so buy something! They have bakery items too - the granola is superb! I wish I could go back and get more!

The most awe-inspiring 3D-sculptured story of Jesus, told across multiple larger-than-life statutes. This place vibrates with sacred energy.

Worth the quick 15-20 minute drive out of San Miguel. Entry is free, the halls and side halls are amazing, no wonder they call it the Sistine chapel of Mexico!

Galeria Atotonilco is a must-visit for avid collectors of Mexican folk art and history. The museum boasts an incredible display of authentic Mexican talent, showcasing centuries of religious art and local artisanal treasures. Visitors can expect to be immersed in the varied and beautiful interpretations of Mexican talent while exploring the gallery. The collection highlights the abundance of artisanal work present in Mexico, offering a glimpse into the country's rich artistic heritage.
If you are at all interested in the work of Mexico"s ceramic and fabric artisans, this is definitely the place to visit. The pieces are from all across the nation and while some are similar to what you can find elsewhere in SMA, much is absolutely unique to here. Whether you plan to buy or you're just looking, definitely drop in when in the area!

Located in the countryside you will not believe this incredible home and gallery. You will find antiques, folk art and the work of talented artists from Mexico. We recommend making an appointment before venturing there.

I'm giving it two stars because I like the Gallery, but their shipping service La Union Packing and Shipping delivered an item that I bought there to LA completely shattered. While the shipping service refunded the value of the item, they did not refund the shipping costs for an item that is no longer usable.

What a beautiful experience walking around this gallery. It is full of treasure and it highlights very well how much artisanat is present in Mexico and how talented the artisans are. It was a pleasure saying art from artists we also met during our Oaxaca trip. On top, the owner are really friendly.

After walking for 30 minutes in the sun, the gallery was closed—-not a soul in sight. Sign on the road and all internet sites show the place is open daily from 11-4. Frankly, it looked abandoned as there was no art to be seen through the windows.

Mind blowing array of high quality works of art in well organized and easy to navigate groups by artist. Many artists are from remote, poorer areas of Mexico and this venue provides "bread on the table and shoes for the children". If you're in San Miguel, this should be on your list.

We were there over a year ago. We are from Oklahoma, but avid collectors of Mexican folk art (and history) for many decades, and thought this an incredible display. Have always traveled to all parts of this wonderful country of Mexico, and supported many local artists, but I must say that this was an amazing “museum” and collection of Mexican authentic talent which is one of the worlds most varied and beautiful interpretations of local talent and centuries of such incredible religious art.
