The Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk is a scenic path that takes you past beautiful beaches, cliffs and parks. It's a great way to spend an afternoon if you're looking for something different from the beachfronts.
One of best iconic coastal walks to do in Sydney whether you're a tourist or local..The starting point is in Bondi Beach near the Iceberg Dining Room and Bar.
It's one of my happy place to go to , just to relax and chill after a busy week at work. It's a relatively easy walk to do and do not require much fitness. However there are some sections with a slight incline and steps. This walk allows you to take a swim at a few beaches on the way, with toilet facilities at all beaches. Will take about 2 to 3 hours depending on your stops, but we did it in 1.5 hours.
Highly recommended

Highly, highly recommend this walk as it was the highlight of our trip to Sydney. On a beautiful day (72F), we took our time wondering the long trail and stopping at the various beaches of different sizes along the way. I'm not sure how long it would be if you just walked it straight, but we started at Coogee and ended at Bondi probably 2 and change hours later because we stopped to take pictures so many times.

Spectacular views at every corner along the 2 hours walk from Coogee to Bondi. I went two times during my recent stay in Sydney, once in the morning and once during sunset hours, both truly amazing.
Apart from the beautiful nature, it’s great to see how locals spend their free time here, surfing / fishing/ chilling on the beaches/ bbq / dog walking / family bonding … make me jealous : )
No doubt to say that Sydney is one of the best places to live in the world!

We started the coastal walk from Bondi at 7.30am. Fantastic views on this coastal walk. We went with three other families and kids. Kids enjoyed the walk. My 4 year old can't walk on up hill path so I had to carry him on my back. We had a coffee break in between at Bronte Beach. We finished at Coogee around 11am for Lunch. Overall it was a fantastic walk and I would love to come back.

Some really stunning views while walking on this trail. It seems long on paper but time really flies when you’re walking and taking in the view.
I would recommend starting the trail from coogee in the morning and reaching Bondi just in time for lunch there.
Ryan Adrian — Google review
Everytime we get guests come and stay with us, I always recommend they do this walk before leaving Sydney. It's a must. Lovely views, beautiful little bays and beaches along the way. Make sure you have a pair of good walking shoes as there are lots of steps up and down.
Helen Di Domenico — Google review
One of the things to do whilst in Sydney. The walk takes approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours, including photography and toilet stops (located at beaches along the way). It's a very scenic trail and not too difficult for young and old, although there are some steep steps along the way. You may get slightly wet from sea spray on blustery days.
Zeph — Google review
We went on a Sunday, started mid morning in Coogee and got to Bondi around noon. It was an easy enough trail and breathtaking! Parts of the trail are uneven and there are a lot of stairs. A few places were a tad narrow and passing people was a bit of a challenge. Overall it is a must do! The trails are fairly well marked and easy to follow the directions.

Amazing! Highly recommend doing this if you’re able l. Beautiful views and scenery. It was not packed when we went, which was at the beginning of August. You get to see a lot, take in a nice walk, and meet great people. We received a recommendation from a local to go to Iceberg’s restaurant at the Bondi Beach end of the walk and we were SO glad we did it!

After numerous recommendations, my friends and I decided to embark on this coastal walk. It's a well-maintained and secure trail, suitable for all ages. The path is family-friendly and offers several water spots for a quick refill. The scenic views along the way are breathtaking, and we concluded our journey with a refreshing dip in the ocean at Coogee. The area also boasts fantastic restaurants where we enjoyed a delicious meal. We're already planning to do this walk again, and it's a definite must-experience!

We took the train and bus from Sydney to Coogee and enjoyed the walk from there to Bondi - absolutely beautiful route with lots of great beaches and views! We had our baby with us in a hiking carrier which was perfect - you can’t do the walk with a stroller. If you are in Sydney we would definitely recommend taking this walk!
Mette Wrang Andersen — Google review
Scenic walk and loads of places to stop in-between. We walked with our 8 year old and she enjoyed the dips in water too. Has steep steps to cover in the walk.

Incredible walk in the summer with ups and down. Walk goes through a cemetery that is in a very special place! Highly recommend the walk but does require you to be in good shape. Being by the coast also offers a really nice breeze so it doesn’t get too hot.
Chris V — Google review
Lovely way to explore the coast! We started at South Coogee and it took us about 3+ hours at a leisurely pace. We saw lotsa surfers catching the waves, day trippers and swimmers and bathers in the pools. There are soft serve and coffee trucks at the larger bays/beaches but plenty of drinking water and bathrooms all along the walk.
Shuwen Koh — Google review
Done this walk a handful of time and it’s stunning every time. Lots of places to stop along the way and enjoy the view and take breaks, even take dips along the smaller beaches.
I recommend starting early or in the evening to catch the sunset. It can get a bit busy on weekends along the path, but you meet some nice people and furry friends.
I appreciate how many toilets are available and changing spots if you’re changing into bathers. Also, water refill stations that are handy.
I did the walk in Birkenstocks and made it fine. If you’re jogging or going non-stop I would recommend some good shoes as there are some bits with gravel and hills.

THIS IS A MUST!! I only had 1.5 days of freedom during a work trip to Sydney from the states and so many locals recommended this walk and I can see why. Please prioritize this on your trip to Sydney. You don't need to be super active but it's about 3.5-4 miles and does have stairs. Great way to get steps in before a long flight and see some of the most breathtaking views.
Shannon Lamb — Google review
Breathtaking views. I normally walk in the daytime and the views are amazing as always.
Today, I went out in the evening and I could see the stars clearly and even the beautiful sunset rays. It was a great experience to walk in the evening but had to use the flashlight sometimes just to avoid any trips or falls as some of the areas do not provide light. I prefer doing the walk in the daytime but evening experience was kind of a good thing as well. Enjoy the spectacular views on the way, everyone!

We took a bus to Bondi Beach Iceberg Club and began our walk to Coogee at 8am. It was a sunny day and sun was already hot. Wear lots of sunscreen and a hat. The view was spectacular just as others have said. This is a moderate hike so if the walker is in a decent fitness level, it should be fine. There are many steps up and down throughout the trail. Bring water bottles and there will be water stations to refill as well as lots of benches to sit, rest and enjoy the view. Highly recommend it.
Check out my review of Coogee Bay! Wow wow wow

A cliff top coastal walk, the Bondi to Coogee walk extends for six km in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The walk features stunning views, beaches, parks, cliffs, bays and rock pools. The beaches and parks offer a place to rest, swim or a chance to eat at one of the cafes, hotels, restaurants or takeaways. Most beaches offer picnic shelters, play areas, kiosks, toilets and change-rooms, Tamarama, Bronte, Coogee and Maroubra have free electric barbecues. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is a medium grade urban walk but there are some steep gradient paths and several staircases along the track. There are rest stops with great views and seating along the coast. It takes about two hours to complete the Bondi to Coogee Beach section of the walk and another hour and a half if you choose to continue to Maroubra. Although an urban walk the Bondi to Coogee walk is open to the elements, please make sure you wear comfy shoes, bring a hat, sunglasses, sun screen, water and in colder weather wear appropriate clothing.

The Bondi Coastal Walk was truly awesome! Walking from Bondi to Coogee was one of the best activities I did in Sydney. It's amazing how people in Sydney can hit the beach in just 30 minutes from CBD!
Starting early in the morning was smart. With the sun behind us, walking was easier, and we didn't have to squint. The views were stunning, and it was super fun. I'll definitely come back!
After the walk we actually took the uber back to Bondi since we have cafes that we wanna visit.

A great walk with great sites to see. Use google maps because the path the take changes and is not always well marked. The part of the path near Coogee is less crowded. The part of the path near Bondi is more crowded. There are a few shops with free toilets along the path. There are free stations to fill up your water bottles along the way.

Awesome place. No words to express the feelings. If you are visiting Sydney, this place is a must watch spot. It is peaceful and vibrant. There are pictures of Jesus's story on the walls and many worship places within the cathedral. It's really breathtaking. Even the walk towards the Cathedral, you can see a great fountain with characters of biblical references. We visited during the Christmas New Year period, and therefore, we also got to see the Christmas decorations and crib.

Today St Mary’s Cathedral is one of Australia’s most beautiful and significant buildings but it did not happen overnight. The Cathedral evolved through a long and patient timeline following a fire which destroyed the first St Mary’s Cathedral in 1865.
It took close to 100 years to finally complete St Marys with the first stage constructed between 1866 and 1900 and stage two between 1912 and 1928

Pretty scenic and serene cathedral. The architecture is beautiful, with many of the embellishments you'd come to expect from a place of worship in a major Western city.
Enjoy the moments of silence inside if it's not during mass.

Are you Catholic? Well, it doesn't matter anyway because this cathedral is absolutely stunning and can be appreciated by everyone.
Everything from the stained glass windows to the various prayer stations it just is super extravagant. I wished I would have been able to hear the organ because it is an absolute sight to see.
This is totally worth visiting if you're in the city and is not far off from the Opera House. Walk through the botanical gardens to get there from the Opera House and you'll treat yourself even more.

Nestled amidst the bustling streets of Sydney, St Mary's Cathedral emerged as a haven of peace and serenity. The grandeur of its Gothic architecture took my breath away. The intricate sandstone facade, adorned with spires reaching towards the sky, instantly transported me to a bygone era.
Stepping inside, I was enveloped by a sense of awe. The soaring ceilings, bathed in the warm glow of stained glass windows, cast a kaleidoscope of colors onto the polished stone floor. The air hummed with a quiet reverence, a stark contrast to the urban cacophony outside.
As I wandered through the cathedral, I was struck by the intricate details - the delicate carvings, the life-sized statues of saints, and the grand altar. Each element whispered stories of faith, devotion, and artistry. I found myself drawn to a quiet corner, where I sat for a while, simply soaking in the atmosphere.
While I'm not Catholic myself, St Mary's Cathedral offered a unique space for reflection and introspection. It transcended religious affiliation, serving as a testament to the power of human devotion and the beauty of artistic expression. Whether you're a visitor seeking cultural immersion or a local yearning for a moment of solace, St Mary's Cathedral is a place that will leave a lasting impression.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales, established in 1897, is a prominent public exhibition located in Sydney, Australia. Housed in a classical-style building founded in 1871, this gallery showcases contemporary, modern and indigenous art collections. The interior is spacious and features a diverse range of Australian artwork. With its free admission to the general display area, visitors can explore various projects and exhibitions encompassing Australian, European and Asian art styles.
An outstanding gallery, truly the mainstay of Sydney’s art scene. The remodelling of their classic rooms is a must see once fully reopened, and the Archibald always attracts significant talent and some truly breathtaking portraits.
Also don’t sleep on the free exhibits downstairs - oftentimes there are some understated and lesser-known (read: not mainstream enough for the average/passive consumers of art) artists displaying real killer stuff.

Stunning buildings inside and outside, masterfully curated collections that span many genres and cultures. Aboriginal art in North Gallery among very best contemporary art I've seen anywhere. Very beautiful art gallery with a range of art types ans styles to admire. The new building has a new room called The Tank which is very dark but necessary to enjoy the performance videos. One of my favourite places in Sydney. After a couple of delays, I finally saw the Louise Bourgeois “Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day?” exhibit. A must-see exhibit! The Day: every single piece spoke to me on some level that I totally was not prepared to feel. The Night: so-called anchor pieces from The Day were integral parts of this darker side of the exhibit. The Night hit me in a very different way though also emotionally. What an incredible exhibit.
Art Gallery of NSW has so many events and exhibits happening all the time, and many are free so everyone can experience and enjoy artworks. The grounds and surrounding areas are beautiful and well maintained. The Gallery also is a wonderful place to sit and look and absorb alone or with your peeps. There are a couple of choices inside and nearby to have a bite to eat and drink, and I’ve seen some people and school children eating their morning/afternoon tea outside near the most incredible giant sculptures. A phenomenal place for all ages!

Accessible for the public, good places for anyone who wants to know about history and art. You may get some inspiration and insight from it. They got two buildings and an excessive exhibition with a vast range of themes. Spent 3-4 hours if you only select a few artworks to have a detailed look at. The information is detailed about each artwork, the artist, and the history or possible meanings behind the creation. Got cafes inside each building, which allow you to get refreshments and rest yourself. Seats are available around the whole gallery, which is nice. Impressed by galleries related to Aboriginal people and LGBT+, one with artworks created by high school students during Covid-19. I went when Wednesday since they will have longed opening hours.

I was overwhelmed with the amount of art. I went to the South building. I couldn't find the North building. I was pleasantly happy to have free entry and free cloaking. There were multiple galleries with different types/themes of art. My favorite was the aboriginal and art by LGBTQ+ artists. I was not prepared with the amount of time necessary to view all of the museum. I advise at least 2 - 3 hours. Actually, you could go every day for an hour for several weeks to truly appreciate the art.

They really captured the morbid passion of her work in the space. I also really appreciate the amount of cafes, bathrooms, and gift shops. And such a variety of work on display! Could easily spend a whole day exploring :)

If you just want to visit one museum in Sydney you should pick this one. There’s a large and diverse collection to be found from different eras. There are some big pieces that are really worth looking at. The building itself is also great. You walk easily into the botanical garden next to the museum. Had a great afternoon even that the weather wasn’t great.
Admission is free except from the special collection.

If you love art, the art gallery is a must visit. Much of the gallery is free to access, with only special exhibitions requiring a paid ticket. The free section is separated into different themes and eras, and is a great showcase with an emphasis on Australian artists across more than one floor. The works of art include paintings, sculptures and other objects, photographs and film.
There's also a couple of sit down food restaurants/cafes, a gift shop, and great restroom as well as hand sanitising facilities. Staff are also friendly and helpful.

The Art Gallery's new installations in their North building are phenomenal and definitely not something to sleep on. All floors had intriguing and beautiful art pieces, so I highly recommend you try and see everything the building had to offer. I recommend making an effort to view "The Tank" as it was incredibly breathtaking and am outstanding experience.
The gift shop near the entrance is also a wonder as it has wonderful merchandise of some of my favourite art pieces. Staff members were all also incredibly nice and accommodating.

First time I have visited the Art Gallery of NSW and it is amazing. There is something for everyone to enjoy no matter what your taste is.
I particularly enjoyed the Australian art section.
There is a lot of art to see, so you’ll need to allow plenty of time.

I recently photographed a wonderful wedding at the Art Gallery of New South Wales and it was awesome.
We were able to walk through the art gallery after hours and do some wedding photos of the couple. It was closed to the public so we had the place to ourselves which was great.
The wedding reception took place in the restaurant which was modern and sophisticated. Overall it was a wonderful wedding and a great experience.

I visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales recently, and it was an outstanding experience. One of the highlights was the free entry, which made it accessible to everyone. What impressed me even more was the absence of long queues during my visit, allowing me to explore the gallery without any hassle.
Inside, I found a treasure trove of historical paintings and sculptures. The collection was truly remarkable, featuring works that spanned various artistic movements and time periods. It was a journey through art history, from classic masterpieces to contemporary creations.
The diversity of the artworks on display made this gallery a very interesting place to visit. Whether you're an art enthusiast or just looking for a culturally enriching experience, the Art Gallery of New South Wales has something for everyone. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Sydney, as it offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of art, and the fact that it's free is a wonderful bonus.

So amazing, lots to look at and most of it is free entry. Definitely a great day out. Would recommend a couple of hours as there is a lot to look at.
They have a great collection of Australian artworks as well as a rotation of international art.
The surrounding botanical gardens are also a lovely walk.

It is worth planning a few hours for this place. Personally, I am very pleased with the visit. The atmosphere is wonderful and friendly, I was greeted at the door and given short instructions about current exhibitions.
There are many levels and the thematic range is diverse. That's why I'm convinced that everyone will find something interesting.
The new building/wing includes modern and interactive installations, which I liked the most.
I am adding this place to my favourites and looking forward to visit it again.

What a precious time (ideally hours) and an experience art lovers can have in this gorgeous gallery inside and out. A monumental beauty leads to a treasure trove of various art genres, from pre-classical to modern. I can’t have enough of this place where I saw the Kandinsky exhibition this time, plus an extra time to see the Art Express works, among others. I come here almost every half year or so. Maybe I should just set up a tent nearby for easy revisits.

Great place with amazing artworks. You don't need to buy tickets unless you're seeing a special exhibition(which I didn't do). There's a souvenirs shop there and a Cafe away from the artworks.

Lovely experience, amazing art by Vasily Kandinsky and Louise Bourgeois. The gallery as a whole is a great space, love the new North building especially the tank. We try two of restaurants both nice friendly venues. Simple menu but reasonably priced, quick and efficient service. I have been to the gallery before and will go back in the future. I recommend buying your tickets before you go online if you can, you will avoid waiting and most likely get a good deal.

I'm in love with the new wing of the NSW Art Gallery. It's spacious and bright, with lovely views to the outdoors, exciting visiting exhibitions and a great gift shop.
I think you love it (me!) because it's beautiful to walk around in, or you hate it (heaps of other people) because it feels like it's a bit empty and doesn't have the 'super famous, classic' art. 🎨 Well, it's free to visit, so it's really no big deal if you go, decide it's not for you, and then leave.
If you're a tourist visiting Sydney, it's super easy to pop by on your way to the Royal Botanic Gardens or Mrs. Macquarie's Chair. It's very accessible and a nice opportunity to see Australian art.
The more 'classic' work is in the old building. Have a browse, have fun.

Went to the Art Gallery of NSW just to experience the gallery, which in my view was a fantastic gallery and beautiful artistic exhibition space. As it happened there was free entry to the Louise Bourjeois exhibition, a talented lady but mad as a box of frogs spring to mind, but then all great artists need a touch of madness to take us down a path less trodden.
She said "Set out with something to say and not with the vague desire to say something." But unfortunately or fortunately I wasn't in her world and therefore did not know what she was saying.
She also said "I Have Been to Hell and Back, And Let Me Tell You, It was Wonderful " which may give you an idea into her mental state.

Lovely experience, amazing art by Vasily Kandinsky and Louise Bourgeois. The exquisite exhibitions were quite remarkable. Since setting my naked eye upon the superb artistic production, I have been dearly astonished in the most splendid of ways. Amazing gallery! I really enjoyed it! I did it as a solo day out and would really recommend it! The place is huge and has got such a vast collection of art from renaissance art to contemporary to Asian art, aboriginal art, it’s really got something for everyone! If you like to take in the art work and read all of the descriptions of the piece, I would recommend allowing yourself about 4-5 hours! Would definitely go again! The entrance to the gallery is free and there was no que! There were two exhibitions on that were paid entry and I saw the Kandinsky one which I believe was $35, very reasonable for such a large collection of Kandinskys works! But other than that completely free!

Amazing experience at the Louise Bourgeois - Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day
exhibition. The new North Building is spacious and moved well from the well-lit rooms of ‘Day’, on lower level 2 to the darkened terrain of ‘Night’, downstairs in the Tank. There was more than 120 works, including many never seen before in Australia, among them The Destruction of the Father 1974 and Crouching Spider 2003. Highly recommend.

The Royal Botanic Gardens is a park in Sydney that contains more than 7,500 species of plants from all around the world. Many of these plants are native to Australia, and some of the collections contain ancient trees or flora that date back hundreds of millions of years. This was the best guided tour I think I've ever been on. Our guide was perfectly enthusiastic, not over the top and explained things so well. The headphone system is brilliant and worked great. The first presentation/film was so well produced and entertaining.
I loved the entire thing. We got a moment in the symphony hall with the orchestra playing and it was so powerful. The whole venue is glorious. The architecture and story behind it is fascinating. Can't go wrong with this amazing opportunity.

Fell in love with it. Must visit. What a wonderful place on the Sydney Harbor. The Sydney Opera House is the symbol of modern Australia. Only put in 5star for architectural purposes. Unfortunately much of the venue was barricaded off but it is a unique and beautiful building. Go to Sydney museum for full history as the architect was not invited to the opening. Great building which all Australians should be proud of.

What is there not to love about the Opera House. I attended the Australian Chamber Orchestra performance and set second row to the right. The performance was moving. I marveled at the opportunity to hear instruments from hundreds of years ago. A magical moment. You can feel the history and the artistry as you walk in. The views from the balcony are spectacular.

As a visitor to Sydney, it was thrilling to see the iconic Opera House, and to enter the building to enjoy a show was very exciting.
The vibe around and in the historical building adds to the excitement.
Restaurants and bars were busy, not easy to find a place to sit for a drink, but simply walking around and soaking in the atmosphere while taking obligatory pictures of the building as night settled in, along with views of the tower bridge and ferries in the bay, is a fun way to start the evening.
Lots of stairs, but also wheelchair friendly.
Inside the Opera House, staff are efficient and helpful, and we were ushered to the correct door based on our seats. No videography/photography allowed inside.
If you come all the way to Sydney from elsewhere in the world, make sure to plan for a show at the amazing Opera House.

The Sydney Opera House is one of the most iconic landmarks in Sydney and an architectural masterpiece. The location is stunning, situated on the waterfront of Sydney Harbour with stunning views of the city skyline and the harbour bridge. But beyond just being a beautiful building, the Opera House is also a great place to chill and hang out.
The outdoor terrace areas offer a relaxed atmosphere where you can sit and take in the view or enjoy a drink with friends. The indoor bars and cafes provide a cozy and inviting atmosphere to relax and enjoy a coffee or light meal. The atmosphere is always buzzing, with a mix of tourists and locals, giving the Opera House a vibrant energy.
Additionally, there are plenty of events and performances that take place at the Opera House, ranging from classical music to contemporary theatre and dance performances. It's a great place to catch a show and take in some culture. Overall, the Sydney Opera House is a must-visit for anyone visiting Sydney, and a great spot to hang out and enjoy the stunning views and lively atmosphere.

Nice beach for surfing. Can get crowded. Not suitable for kids swimming as it can get rough. If I'm being honest it's a bit overrated. Not bad but gets more hype than it deserves given that Australia has really countless spectacular beaches that don't get a mention.

As an Australian, (I live in Melbourne however) This beach is really nice! Definitely worth seeing at-least once in your lifetime. Can get crowded so it’s definitely not an every day beach, but lovely to walk along and take in the serenity. Just be aware there are other beaches in Australia, and although this is probably one of the most popular ones, there are a lot more that I would say are more beautiful and less crowded!

Took the 333 bus to Bondi Beach. Crowded beach but space to lay. Recommend reapplying the sunscreen. Lifeguards were busy the entire time having people swimming away from the rip currents. At times, the waves crashed on you about every 8- 10 seconds. You should be a really good swimmer if you go out to where the waves crash.

Bondi Beach, nestled in the vibrant coastal suburb of Bondi in NSW, Australia, is a sun-soaked haven that encapsulates the Aussie beach culture. Renowned for its golden sands and impressive waves, it attracts surfers, sunbathers, and tourists alike. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk offers breathtaking views, while the buzzing Campbell Parade is lined with trendy shops and eateries. The beach's lively atmosphere is infectious, but it can get crowded during peak times. Lifeguard patrols ensure safety, making it suitable for families. An incredible big beach. Lots of blue bottles on the beach today. The one criticism is the lack of ramps to get around and see the sites. Lots of stairs.
Taronga Zoo Sydney is one of the world's largest zoos and home to over 340 different species of animals. The zoo has panoramic views over the iconic Sydney Harbour and offers a range of activities including daily bird and seal shows as well as keeper-led Wild Australia Experience and VIP Aussie Gold Tours.
Bird enclosure / exhibits are the real standouts of this zoo. Bug exhibit needs significant work (would love to see a butterfly enclosure similar to Melbourne's). Seal show is good. Recommend looking at the exhibit times on the map (which you can opt to collect from a stand just inside the entry) as these are impressive. Also recommend booking online so you can ride the skyline up to the zoo's entrance (if you take the ferry). For those wondering the views of the city from this zoo are excellent and the lines for tickets move quickly!

Incredible spot overlooking the harbour. Booked in advance, scanned QR code on entry. Very easy and waiting time was not too long.
Easily navigable zoo, with plenty of interesting enclosures. Lots of kids (as you would expect) but plenty of ways to avoid the crowds when you can. Not too hilly or difficult to get around.
Food options very limited, but easy to go through the park in 2-3 hours, and hop on the ferry back to Circular Quay for other food options.

The over all experience was great. Beautiful ferry ride across the bay, amazing bird show and plenty to see. Put your walking shoes on because it's on a cliff. Lots of steep paths and steps. Great for exercise. Some of the larger animals have quite small enclosures Was the only downside.

Last visited 28 December 2022 so thought I'd share a review on here. Fabulous zoo!! Far better than any zoo's in NZ. Cost is only NZ$50 (or about AU$44) and that included the gondola. Return ferry to Circular Quay - public transport is dirt cheap (Opal) compared with NZ. Bird and Seal Show is wonderful. Though the seal show line is super long, we still managed to get a seat for the first time at the front. It'll be great if this zoo could order heaps of size L t-shirts for men and a variety especially for the summer holidays. Good thing we visited before they closed the gondola for renovations. Weather was beautiful. A day trip well worth it. We'll be back in Syd end of this year (late December) for a solid 2 weeks. With plans to visit the Gold Coast for the 1st time, end of next year (end of 2024)... AL from New Zealand.

A great space designed for kids and adults both to see animals. The slopes are quite steep so recommend to reach the top and walk down the slope. It's little tricky for older people who have limited walking ease. The bird and seal shows are really great and love the way they are delivered. It does have 2 ways to see the zoo and one should decide which path to follow.

What a fantastic place to visit! We visited Taronga Zoo for the first time on a holiday to Sydney for our toddler's birthday, and we all had an amazing day. We took the direct ferry from Circular Keys and got there early and, despite being school holidays, it didn't feel too busy within the zoo.
The views of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are spectacular.
The enclosures all appeared well maintained and there are lots of encounters and interactions available to purchase. We bought tickets for the giraffe feeding which was fun!
There was quite a bit of construction going on to improve the park but it didn't affect us.
We spent over 4 hours there but could have easily spent longer if our daughter wasn't tired out.
We'll definitely go back again!

We got there by ferry as well as returned back to a circle quay in 10 min each way. That was very convenient, as well as we were able to see Harbor , Bridge and architectural side of Sydney from a water side.
Highly recommend to visit, especially if you are visiting with kids!!!

A lovely zoo with amazing Sydney city & harbour views. Can be accessed by bus, car & ferry & we went ferry both ways (short trip from Circular Quay). Buses available from ferry up hill to main entry. There is also an entry at bottom near ferry.
Lots of animals including Australian- opportunity for koala photos & walking amongst kangaroos & emus.
Sadly chairlift not working, with other issues with up escalators & also 1 lift. Meant additional walking.
Food is very average in food court - $40 for a couple of chicken meals & an ice-cream. Could buy drinks incl alcohol.
Various ticket options - cheaper to buy online. Cashless zoo now.
Always worth a visit.

I loved this zoo. It is so well set out. The animals appear to be happy and content and in good condition. It's set on a hill but has lifts and escalators to help those of us who are aging or not so fit ! Good toilets and food outlets and a lovely well stocked reasonably priced shop. Easy to get to by the local ferries.

First time to come here.
Come with my kids, this is a great place to see so many animals.
Kids must be so happy to be here.
The zoo is so big. We can walk around the whole area to see so many kind of animals.
I suggest to buy tickets in advance through their official website to get discount.

An amazing day spent with my 3 teenage girls around the park.
During Covid times, we are encouraged to book tickets online. We used Dine & discover voucher to enter. The parking was a flat rate. Using a car is cheaper when you are a group of more than 4.
The park is for all ages.. The seal show was amazing and very informative..
It took us around 4 hours to go all around. It is good to go as early as 10 and take 6 hours not to rush..
I think it is a great zoo with a great team of workers spread all over the place to make the visit memorable.
It is important to wear comfortable shoes due to the amount of walking to be done.

One of the best zoo’s I’ve visited over the years! The timing of our trip was perfect! When a koala bear sleeps 20 hours a day, how lucky can you get when you can see the Koala climbing the tree.
I’m additional, all of the animals were lively and actively moving around in their environment.
The animal exhibits were very close, making it easier to see the animals.
If you make the trip, take the bus to the zoo and return back to the city via ferry for the scenic views of the bridge and opera house.
Marshall Azar — Google review
Visited in the rain, so some of the animals used to warmer environments seemed quite unhappy. The seal show was very impressive, and the animals seem to have very good care taken of them in this zoo. The experience was well priced, including travelling to the zoo from the city via ferry.

A great day at the zoo: huge diversity of animals, clean and ethical enclosures, informative shows and keeper talks, and gorgeous views of the harbour and city.
However, a word of warning, while it is technically accessible, the hills/stairs can get pretty steep.
Discount when buying tickets online, and you can just head to the gate with the QR code.

Be aware the zoo might be a bit larger than you think and the experience might get a little bit overwhelming.
...and there's A LOT of children. 😁
Apart from that, I got a very natural feeling here, tasteful enclosures, some animals even weren't asleep during my visit.
Nothing to think about, go there, enjoy, a must visit while in Sydney.
Such a shame the Sky safari is no longer available thought.

Amazing Zoo and fantastic staff! We did the Koala and Dingo Encounters, and I can't recommend enough! Throughout the park, you get up close to so many animals, several walking in your path or even hanging out right above you. And the views of the Harbor aren't too bad either.

It was my first visit in the last 10 years. Absolutely a great zoo with amazing skyline of Sydney.
The animals looked healthy and a great place for anyone either kids or adults.
Loved the concept of rainforest walk with birds, so that birds are not in small cages.
It was nice to see giraffe, elephant, lion and much more.
The staff were super friendly and helpful.
There are maps at many different spots for those who get lost like me.
Good food at cafe.
The shelter areas were best since we also took some food from to have it at the park.
I would definitely recommend this zoo and visit again sometime in the future.

A great day out for young and old, singles or groups. So many animals to see and enclosures offer great viewing opportunities. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The views of Sydney are spectacular too. So lucky to have this on offer so close to the heart of Sydney. Highly recommend a day out here!

We went for the view of Sydney and that didn’t disappoint. Ferry trip was lovely, quick and cheap. There was a huge queue for the gondola ride so we got the bus. Which was full and not Covid friendly!
I had been to the zoo in the late 80s when a relative of mine worked there. Not much has changed. Except it’s. wry expensive to get it. $51 to be exact. And the prices for coffee and snacks were steep.
It did look a bit tired and in need of some dollars spent on upgrades. I live in Adelaide and apart from the view our zoo is faring better.
However it was a pleasant day and we got our steps up and the view is beautiful.

Well-designed and lovely zoo. The Wildlife Retreat is where we stayed, so getting to the zoo was simple. Amazing displays. Big zoo, but not overpowering like some can be. Cashless. Numerous displays of Australian animals may be located all across the zoo. They have amazing viewing spots that let you get close-up and personal. From Circular Quay, using the ferry and bus is simple.

Wonderful experience at the Wildlife Retreat. Staff were great and overall running was smooth and they provided extra touches that made it feel so special for my boyfriend and I who were there to celebrate his birthday. The guided tours were informative and getting to see the animals close up was pretty cool (for a non-animal lover myself).
Buffet breakfast was my personal highlight - quality of food and serve was great with views to match. Plus having access to the zoo on the from the day you check in to the day you check out is a great bonus.
Highly recommend if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion.

First time at Taronga Zoo and I am impressed by it’s great variety of attractions. Plenty of kids friendly trails and activities so it will be perfect for families to visit. There are also a few areas under construction at the moment since they are relocating some of the exhibits.
It took us around 4-5 hours to walk through the entire zoo which is a decent size considering it being so close to city. Make sure to allocate time to catch some of the animal talks/shows or their feeding time. It wasn’t too busy even for a weekend. Parking was easy to find ($22 flat rate) and close to no line up for entry.

More than a simple zoo. Elegant, well designed with color identification of the trails to follow. Varied fauna and flora integrated into very beautiful settings. It even has an area with marine animals typical of the area. Many activities for the little ones and numerous support services. Easy to access from central Sydney by bus or ferry. Highly recommended. One morning or one afternoon are needed, at least, for sure.

Spent the afternoon casually strolling through the Taronga Zoo. It’s an easy ferry ride away from Circular Quay making it a good way to burn up time on vacation in Sydney.
Clean, well maintained, and laid out with an easy walking flow from one themed area to another. I never felt like I was being rushed or missing anything.
My favorite aspects were the walk through aviaries that let you get up close to many of the birds in residence and the focus on the welfare of the animals in their charge.
Unlike any zoo I’ve been too before, Taronga Zoo has preserved some of their oldest building, defunct buildings as educational exhibits of how zoos kept animals in the past and how it different it is today.
Sean Wally (JQLSpec Garage) — Google review
Huge and fun place for kids and kids at heart. love that there are many animals to see and a lot of resting areas too. The structure of the zoo where you have to go up and downhill made it a little bit more challenging for older people to go around but still fun though. it a very nice view of the harbour bridge and the ferry ride made it even more exciting for guests from other states and overseas too.

No wait if you buy the tickets in advance.
Free parking if you try to find one just a couple of meters away on the street.
Great location and wonderful experience.
They stopped cable car unfortunately last year on Tuesday 31 January 2023 but they are planning to return in next year 2025- which means bit of uphill walk for now.
Lots and varieties of Animals. Loved seeing Giraffes and Zebras, Lions, Chimpanzees, Tigers. NRMA members gets discounted tickets purchased online- Two benefits, no wait in the queue and you pay less.
Overall you need at-least 3 hours and around 3.5-4 hours if you have babies / kids.
If its very hot summer, chances are few animals might take shelter and you may or may not see them at all. so, weather is very important. Best thing is, Taronga Zoo is open 365 days of the year. Family-friendly and kids love it. Pram and wheelchair friendly. at certain places, they also have lifts.

The Taronga zoo I one of the best zoo in the world I have ever been too. You have to take a fairy ride from Sydney to get to the zoo. I highly recommend buying a ticket ahead of time the zoo you could be there all day. There’s so many things to look at. You can also buy a ticket ($12) to get up close and personal with the koala bears and that is a must. It’s like the zoo is on its own island and has a great view looking back at Sydney.

Animal experience was good
Food courts were super crowds but they had few vegetarian options which is good.
Ticketing experience was not so good- only family price was 105 but they were giving it for 118. And when I asked for entertainment book offer then she used the individual ticket price rather than the family price.

Awesome views from the Zoo of Sydney Harbour & Bridge. Taronga Zoo has awesome up close enclosures to view all the animals as well. It's really easy to get to by the Ferry. Had an awesome day. Do yourself a favour & visit. The views across the harbour to the city are worth it on their own & the animals are a bonus 😀 Just do it!! P.S. Buy your tickets online & save yourself a few bucks. Enjoy

A large sprawling zoo, built on a coastal hillside. Excellent variety of animals, lots of walking involved (start at the top/main entrance rather than the ferry entrance and work your way down if you tire easily). The walk through aviaries were particularly immersive. Keeper talks are available, included in the admission fee, some feeding times are advised, others can be chanced upon. Fantastic example of a non for profit zoo.
Claire Ten Bohmer — Google review
Was more than a little disappointed at a number of exhibits at the zoo today. Having not been in a few years I was please to see it was clean and had many changes.
No skyway chair lift. Closed with a promise of a future replacement. Surely that could have been better planned.
Koala exhibit. How many million was spent on that. And all to see ONE single solitary koala. Not that it was really visible. But 1 koala.
Tiger exhibit. A few million more spent there no doubt. And again a long trek with the promise of tigers. Yep ONE tiger again. 🐅
I guess it beats all those enclosures where no animals could be seen.
The bird talk was almost as great as I remember. But sadly the best thing I saw at the zoo were the views of Sydney. It's great but not what the zoo is all about.
Add to that toilets that were the second worst I have encountered (second only to a highway rest area near shanghai). And this applies to the toilets near the entrance and the elevators. Come On Taronga!!
There's great potential but it just missed the mark.

Best place spend with kids, be early in the morning to watch maximum shows in the zoo. Seal show, bird show must watch. Carry food, the quality of food is average inside the zoo. Cap and sun glass to protect from sun. Rain forest walk will be joyful as well.

Great Sydney day out. Zoo is well kept staff are informative. Good selection of food. Buy tickets online in advance, even on the morning of the trip, you will save a minimum of 10%. Then donate the savings to the Zoo, and choose an animal of your choice. Everyone wins.

Had a great experience at Taronga Zoo with our little one. Located in a beautiful location and home to a wide range of animals. We were able to complete most but not all animal encounters.
The bird show and seal show are a must see as the kids really enjoyed it. You can plan for an entire day and add the encounters and shows that you would like to visit on their app. Maps are also provided.
There are a few cafes spread out within the zoo for quick bites and ice-creams.
It’s a must visit with kids of all ages.
Kanika Mathur — Google review
We spent about 2hrs here walking round most if not all of the animals. There are plenty of trees and seats around the park which great because it was 25 degrees and very sunny.
Instead of getting the bus we made the 4 minute walk up the hill to the south entrance. There are steps and then escalators to the right.
The cost to enter is about AU$50 which is not cheap but there is a lot to see. If you have kids be sure to go to the petting zoo to see the Alpacas and the goats.

Taronga Zoo Sydney offers a captivating wildlife experience with stunning views of the harbor. The well-maintained exhibits showcase a diverse range of animals, from iconic Australian species to exotic creatures. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident, making it an enriching visit for all ages. The Sky Safari cable car enhances the experience, providing breathtaking panoramas. Educational talks and close-up encounters with animals add value, fostering a deeper connection to wildlife. The layout is well-planned, offering a seamless journey through different ecosystems. However, ticket prices are relatively high. Overall, Taronga Zoo Sydney is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts seeking an immersive and educational adventure.

We had an amazing experience at this zoo in Sydney, which we consider the best ever. The variety of animals is impressive. The koala area is a must-see, and the well-designed layout offers different sections for animal viewing, along with beautiful skyline views of the city. It's highly recommended, especially for families with kids. We spent six hours exploring everything, including fantastic bird and seal shows, and the zoo also provides stunning views of Sydney Harbour. On-site parking is plentiful, and the spacious, modern animal enclosures are in excellent condition. A must-visit for anyone in Sydney for a few days.
Manly Beach is a huge sand beach in Sydney with many shops and restaurants. It is a popular surfing spot and is great for relaxation.
My favourite place to visit when in Sydney. We lived above a restaurant on the Corso for 6 months whilst our house was being built up on the Central Coast. I loved going to and from work in Sydney on the Ferry and Hydrofoil. It's a lovely trip. The beach is gorgeous, full of people walking, walking their dogs along the pathway or roller skating/skate boarding etc. Or just sitting with an ice cream and enjoying the sun and surf. It has a lovely, warm vibe which feels way better than its snobby sister beach, Bondi. A must visit when in Sydney.

A really beautiful beach to pay a visit to. I came on the Ferry from Circular Quay which just adds to the day in my opinion. You can’t beat a ferry ride on the Sydney Harbour. The walk from the wharf to the beach is great too and there’s several places you can have an ice cream or gelato and you can’t beat the selection of places to have a nice lunch. You can also get takeout and eat at one of many tables along the beach. There’s good toilet facilities also. Just sit and people watch. Definitely a spot to visit in Sydney.

Taking a ferry to Manly is a delightful way to travel, and there's a special vibe to Manly's beaches in early autumn.
Next to the swimming pool at the northern end of the beach, you can climb up a small cliff. At the very top, there's a small cave ,which is a minor attraction. It's not particularly magical, but worth checking out.

Manly Beach is a popular destination known for its beautiful beaches, great surf, and lively atmosphere. However, on my recent visit, I noticed that the town itself was a bit dirty and littered in some areas. Despite this, the beach itself was clean and the water was clear and inviting. The promenade is a great spot for a walk or a run, and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The surf was great and the people were friendly and welcoming. Overall, I still enjoyed my time at Manly Beach but it would be better if the town is kept cleaner for the visitors.

Manly is just as good, but Bondi gets all the praise and recognition. I rode the quick ferry to the harbour. Manly has a fairly laid-back atmosphere. When I went in May, the weather was chilly and windy, but it didn't stop hundreds of people from going to the beach. There are numerous restaurants and pubs in the area, all of which are hip and modern.

For me the most beautiful beach in the Sydney area. The broad promenade with the iconic pines und the beach with a surf school and many beach volleyball fields are perfect for sports or relaxing. The wooden pavilions are signs of Manly beach history as the place to be for the 1900s high society. Manly beach is my absolute favorite also in comparison to Bondi beach.

Tony was a fantastic teacher and made for such an enjoyable morning of our holiday. He helped us get up to speed on SUP and gave us all the hot tips for having the most fun and the best experience. His boards were great quality, and his AVSUP truck adds to the vibe. Being located at Clareville Beach makes it a perfect location, and Tony even had tea & coffee ready to go for us when we got off the boards.
If you’re asking yourself whether or not to spend some time with Tony and his boards, the answer is YES!

Great time! My friend and I came together and got basically a private lesson because we were the only ones. Tony spent about 30min to show us the basics until we were confident enough and then sent us on our way. Took some pictures for us too! and afterwards sat down for a lovely chat over tea/coffee that he had brought with him. He had great recommendations for food and hikes in the area.

Avalon SUP is the best experience, both for value and fun! I have been on a SUP only twice before and could only stand up, but within 1 hour Tony had taught me 4 manoeuvres that I can now use on my own with confidence. I look forward to my next session and will definitely re-book with Avalon SUP!

We had a great time at Tony’s Stand Up Paddle experience. Tony is a great host, and instructor, he taught us the very effective basics such as paddling, turning and how not to fall off (keep looking up and straight forward!). After the 15 minute lesson he left us to our own devices and we paddled up the coast, spotting a number of jellyfish en route.
We were on the water for about 1 hour in total, and managed to make the most of our experience. After the lesson, Tony offered us a free coffee or tea, and it was nice to relax and reflect on learning a new hobby. I would recommend bringing/applying lots of sun cream as you are exposed on the water. Also, leave valuables in your bag/car - I naively envisioned I wouldn’t fall in, but a rogue wave caught me off guard, and now Pittswater has my sunglasses.
Overall, apart from Sunglass loss, a cracking experience. 10/10, cheers Tony!

I had struggled years ago to even stand up on a paddle board so was not expecting to even achieve that. Tony was patient and after selecting the right board I was able to stand up! And not only that I was soon paddling around Clareville Beach. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. And Tony even had tea and coffee for us and time for sit down and a chat! Our family took a visiting work colleague from overseas on the 9-12 tour and it was a most enjoyable morning. Even though I've lived in Sydney my whole life, this was a perspective I've never had before. Enjoying a quiet, empty, picturesque beach and bush track like that, you'd think you were miles from anywhere. The views at the top were as beautiful as any in the world. Our children are 7 and 10, and if you're taking children, you can expect they will help paddle intermittently and take breaks, so it'd be good if they are with an adult capable of doing the majority of the work. Our guest enjoyed the experience very much, as did we all. Thanks to our guide, Stu!

Palm Beach is a locality situated in the Northern Beaches subdivision of Sydney, which is positioned in New South Wales, Australia. It lies approximately 41 kilometers to the north of Sydney's central business district and belongs to the administration of the Northern Beaches Council.
Highly recommended.
Ferry from Central Coast to palm beach, zero traffic and at least 30 minutes faster each way. Ride takes about 30 minutes. Relax and take in the views. If only a frequent user fares are paid for on the ferry, staff will come around when seated. Staff were friendly and polite. The water can become a little choppy but the ferry's ride is pretty good through it. We saw thousands of jelly fish from the rooftop but only under clear skies also roof top has no shade so sun protection is advised and trends to get a bit breezy so hats need to be secure.

Regularly late, non-existent customer service, broken down ferries and without notice or just slow. For $26.50 a 20m ride I expect better. I appreciate for holiday makers this is a fun adventure but for commuters this is practically extortion with no public or private competition Fantasy runs a monopoly.
As always disappointed in the government and councils for lack of infrastructure

Terrible experience with staff, reservations, captain. The lowest of customer service.
I had pre planned with the company to use their service to transfer my newly purchased road bike from Sydney to the Central Coast. Everything was agreed to, arranged and confirmed. I drove the bike up over 3 hours from Sydney's Inner West to Palm Beach.
Upon arriving at the Ferry wharf the captain/skipper (Ben) was rude, unhelpful, arrogant and had zero sense of the term customer service.
After 10 minutes of discussion I was advised I couldnt use the ferry service as the tide was too low to offboard my roadbike on the other side. Which is fine, no one can control the tide.
However what blew me away was that none of this had been advised during the correspondence with head office and reservations the week before. I was rudely told I had to wait at Palm Beach for 4 hours to be able to board the last ferry of the day. Further to that, there was zero accountability from the company about this, and the lack of customer service from the onboard staff was appalling. No sympathy, no apology for the confusion, no offer of resolution....nothing.
When I was finally able to board, I was offered no assistance in securing the bike onboard, even though I was told the staff would be updated to have straps so it could be safely secured as it was transported. Im sure a safety hazzard for not only myself, the bike, but also other passengers on board.
As someone who has worked in the travel and tourism industry for most of my adult life, I have never encountered arrogance and customer service like this.
Will not use again.

Travelling from northern beaches to Ettalong, this is 100x better than trains and buses. It is a bit pricey hence one less star. It shaves around an hour off a trip and much nicer than train.

Lovely trip from Palm Beach to Ettalong and back. I recommend this as an activity if you’re visiting the area and looking for something to do. I was lucky enough to capture these rainbows after a thunderstorm while waiting for the return ferry in the afternoon. Thanks Fanatasea

Wildlife sanctuary with a visitor center & Aboriginal sites offering guided tours & animal feedings.
Awesome place for families to enjoy animal encounters. We went on a Sunday afternoon, not too many visitors, no wait to buy entry tickets. Rangers shared a lot of info and fun facts about animals, everyone there was super friendly. Learn more on their website about open hours, entry ticket packages and presentation times. There's petting zoo for younger kids. Please come support this wonderful sanctuary! They take NSW Discover vouchers. Gift shop has nice merchandise.

I am so glad I finally took my family here.. This is a very calming and enjoyable place to enjoy bush walking and animals in the most natural and easy going way. We brought our own food, tho could of purchased some as well. My children aged (7&9yrs) loved walking among so many kangaroos, wallabies and emus. The most calm and relaxed animals I’ve seen so far. It was so amazing practicing and learning how to throw a boomerang, listening to the dingo talk, holding a snake and feeding the alpaca, Guinea pigs and goats in the petting zoo area. The “walk about sanctuary” is the best way to get the kids loving our Australian surroundings open every day.

Wonderful and well maintained sanctuary ideal for a day outing from Sydney. The animals are well looked after and staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Kangaroos and emus roam about in the open while the visitors get to pat them and click a pic or two. The ticket includes a packet of feed for the farm animals. A very good experience to visit with kids.
Food: One could do take outs for a picnic in the sanctuary or alternatively, the visitor centre does some stock sandwiches, instant noodles and other snacks for light meals.

LOVE this place! Highly recommended must go!
We got so close to the animals and the emus, kangaroos and wallabies are tame and free-roaming. It was an amazing experience.
First time I got to see tasmanian devils active during the day! Feeding time. The keepers are obviously passionate about these beautiful native animals and wildlife conservation.
Bush walks (relatively easy and short) with aboriginal engravings and hand prints from 4000 years ago. Included in entry fee. Really cool!
Tip: Attend the keeper talks/animal feedings.
Beautiful place. Will go again!

Awesome place to spend time with animals. We spent 4.5 hours in here seeing friendly animals, throwing boomerang and hiking. It was easy walking track around 1hr to Mt White lookout with sandstone caves and Aboriginal engravings on the way. Just be careful when going up to the lookout as it was no signs there and you might get lost.

A really great time for the family. We’ll worth a visit.
Loved that it wasn’t very busy, so didn’t need to keep too close an eye on the kids.
The zoo keepers were amazing and really interacted with us one on one.

A fantastic place to visit. You can comfortably see the majority of the park and it's animals in a bit over an hour, but you could very easily spend a whole day there too. Some animals freely roam the park while others are safely kept out of reach of visitors.
The day I visited with my children, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
I highly recommend Walkabout Wildlife Park to all ages.

Fantastic opportunity for speed dating with animals and hiring a ranger for an hour. Kathy was amazing, she is very knowledgeable and passionate about animals and we managed to pat and learn about 7 animals within an hour. Will definitely come again and bring our guests.

Great day trip from Sydney if you know what to expect. They are much smaller than Taronga of course, but we wanted to avoid the massive crowds and give my parents visiting from overseas a nice up-close look at some local creatures. Did not disappoint! All the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The short bushwalks to the indigenous carvings were also a nice diversion. If you’re not looking for elephants and giraffes, this would be a great place to bring young kids as well, as you’re almost guaranteed to be able to pat the free-ranging kangaroos.

I have visited this place twice in last 7 months. Amazing place for family. Kangaroo, emu, all farm animals. Kids will enjoy lot. We can feed for farm animal. Also kola & reptiles can watch. Bush walk and night stay is available.

Here you can feed few animal and touch them as per instruction
Prons :
Not much crowded.
Able to feed & touch the animal.
Animal are really there like wild.
Sanctuary caretaker are really amazing and helpful.
Cons :
Not easily accessible via public transport.
Not much hot food option for lunch.
Fees feel bit on higher side. If they reduce fees or give some complementary option like food or anything then it will be better deal for visitor.

Lots of free roaming animals so you can get closer than you would be able to anywhere else. Staff are fantastic too!
Definitely worth the visit!

Nice wild zoo, if we could call it in this way.
The range of different spices is wide. The organization is good. The closeness little bit less, but unfortunately we are in the wild nature.
The only sad things is that 50% of the animals are sleeping and hiding during the day and you can’t really see them.
It worth the visit.

Really great spot just off the highway.
The animal loop can take anywhere from 30 mins to a couple of hours depending on whether you time it right with some of the talks, and if you factor in doing the aboriginal walk / hike you could easily spend all day here which makes the price a bargain (not so much if you're in and out in an hour!).
We managed to navigate most of the animal loop with a pram, but you definitely couldn't do it with a wheelchair.

Mr 7 has wanted for a long time to go out at night to look for animals so I had a search online and found Australia Walkabout Park Wildlife Sanctuary in Calga (not far from the Reptile Park). How I didn’t know about this place before is beyond me as I thought we’d been to every animal experience within 1hr of Sydney at least 2 or 3 times. 🤣 The owners, with assistance of local aboriginal people, saved this amazing site from being turned into a quarry and it is now a heritage site. You can book for their sunset tour which first takes you around to see the dingo feeding, pat a koala, see the birds (one that makes a sound IDENTICAL to an old telephone ring), see the Servals. You then start the walk around the huge park and they talk about the significant plants and one of the best parts is seeing the 4000+ year-old aboriginal carvings and hand stencils. We spotted some Wallaroos and Bandicoots in the dark and then they take you to the Tassie Devils to play tug-o-war with their dinner. The night finishes with a camp fire and roasting marshmallows. Mr 7 LOVED it and was asking to go back the next day before we even left. Money well spent and it helps them help the animals. Our guides Luke and Brendan were great and really knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience Emmu, peacocks, kangaroos all are like pet animals. You can touch and can walk with them. Peacock dance has no words to explain.

It was amazing
Not huge but truly fun and different.
We got to play with the kangaroos and emus feed farm animals and have a Bush walk and a picnic in the wild take your snacks,
Only avoid on really hot days not much shade available
Popular zoo with many species of reptiles, free-roaming kangaroos, shows & hands-on experiences.
It's a good place to see and know about Australian native animals. All the tasks are great giving his info about the animals.
From planning your day perspective you can visit in the morning and go with each talk or other option to visit in the afternoon as all the talks repeat in the second half. You can finish everything in half a day.
Better to carry food as the cafe gets busy during weekend lunch hours. There is wheelchair access everywhere and they had maintained the toilets well. Alligator and crocodile talks were the best for me. The play area for kids is good too.

We stopped by the Reptile park on the way back to Sydney from Hunter Valley and boy were happy we did the the stop by! Kids simply loved to see so many reptiles, Snakes, Alligator, Turtles, Lizards and many more. Also, the shows were entertaining and informative.
Tips:
- Reach early like by 10am. There are regular shows every 30 min and they are fun and educational as the host explains you everything in detail.
- For photos, would suggest to take package where you can take photos with all four, Python, Alligator, Koala and Owl. Since they allow all family members to be in photo it turns out to be cheaper and fun.

We love regularly visiting the Reptile Park with our young kids. We have annual passes otherwise I think it's too expensive for a single visit as we don't tend to stay that long! Our favourite things there are patting the free roaming kangaroos, looking for koalas, the platypus, turtles and alligators and watching the reptile show. The playground if fun too! My kids are too scared of the reptile and spider exhibits as it's dark with scary noises.
It's super quiet during the week when it's not school holidays (unless you are there at the same time as a school group or tourist bus!)
We always bring our picnic to save buying food there, but their chips are good. The staff are always super friendly too and the animals look well looked-after.

An amazing reptile park.. with displays that get you close to the animals as well as highly educational talks and displays.

Also great playground for the little ones to have a play on and keep active

This place was enjoyable and educational.
The live demonstrations, particularly those featuring venomous snakes and imposing crocodiles, are executed with a high degree of professionalism and respect for the animals, providing visitors with a thrilling yet educational experience.
The fun experience with the kangaroo especially was the best.

This is one of the great escape spots located just around an hour drive from Sydney. The Kangaroos here are lovely and kids can have fun time feeding them. The alligators here amazing and the number of them that are maintained well in a water body with in park is amazing to watch. The tortoise that we saw was over 100 years and looks so healthy and stunning. There are variety of birds and reptiles here. A place that kids would love and a must visit spot indeed

Great zoo to see some impressive reptiles as well as some other Australian animals.
Definitely recommend it for a day out with the family.
Make sure you plan your day to see the reptile show and Elvis the crocodile being fed. Ranger Mick is very entertaining while giving some interesting facts about the animals.
The only disappointing thing was the cafe didn't have the best selection of food available. I would recommend packing some lunch or snacks for the day.

Truly wonderful! The man who does the snake and crocodile show is passionate, knowledgeable and funny! The reptile park is a pioneer in anti venom and deserves your support. Not to mention the kids LOVE it and you see such a good range of Australian animals. We bring anyone who visits us here and they all love it.

This is a great place. On top of the entrance fee, we payed for a pass to hold a Python, a baby alligator, baby Tasmanian Devils & pat a Koala plus have our photos taken with them. That made the visit worthwhile.
When we went, the kangaroo enclosure was closed due to maintenance.
It was a decent price compared with other zoo prices. We brought tickets online.
It was the week after the school holidays so no too crowded or busy so we went straight in without a line to stand in. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable.
We would recommend a visit.

We are yearly pass holders and have been quite a few times. Each time we find something new and interesting. This time we discovered Aussie Ark and also Eric's walk. They took us to different areas of the Reptile Park we haven't seen before.

Absolutely brilliant day out. It's a good thing to contribute to because they also do important conservation work, I loved seeing the turtle conservation ark. The talks are really informative especially the one with the snakes. Lizzie the wombat was adorable and the keepers all do such an excellent job keeping the animals happy and constantly topping up the koalas trees/leaves. You came easily spend 3 hours looking round here.

Knowing of my interest in wildlife, Australian friends that I was visiting recommended a visit to the Australian Reptile Park. After viewing the options, we decided on taking the "Behind the Scenes" tour as well as a non-guided tour of the park.
First, I'll say the reptile park wasn't just reptiles, but a collection of animals of all types unique to Australia, even some non-native species. Wallabies, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, koalas, platypuses, wombats, etc. in well-designed cages complimented the turtles, snakes, lizards, spiders, etc. on display. The park is well laid out and a map is furnished even though it is easy to navigate from exhibit to exhibit.
The self-paced, self-guided tour allowing us to get fairly close to these unique animals was fascinating enough to more than justify the admission charge. The Behind the Scenes tour was expensive, but also well worth the price. In a group of 4, we saw one of Australia's very poisonous snakes and a deadly spider milked, fed alligators and a cassowary, held a non- poisonous snake and lizards, and stroked a little koala's fur. The guide who accompanied us was an encyclopedia of knowledge about every creature we saw, as well as being very as being very personable and considerate. (I'm a slow walker due to arthritis.)
This visit was absolutely the highlight of my stay in Australia. A visit to the park is recommended for anyone who would like to see a snapshot of Australia's unique, amazing wild life in a well designed, comfortable environment. The Behind the Scenes tour is an amazing opportunity to actually interact with some of the animals and to learn about the park's anti-venom program for poisonous snake and spider bites.

Great experience at the reptile park, there was a good picnic area and playground with shade and amazing range of wildlife such as birds, frogs, lizards, alligator, crocodile, koala, wallaby and many more. My favourite was seeing the frogs, they looked so beautiful with their gem like, metallic colouring. It had a forest like area and well maintained with wheelchair friendly paths. The reception building maybe needs updating and a lick of paint, tickets are a little expensive for me personally, otherwise perfect place for all people old and young.

Beautiful family day out spent at Australian Reptile Park.
Clean and spacious environment for animals
Plenty of grass areas and seating for picnic lunch or morning tea.
Animals all looked healthy and both staff and animals seemed more than happy to be there.
Tasmanian devil full of life then collapsed chilling in sunshine. Kangaroos all happy to see you with small bags of food to give. Platypus was easy to find and was extremely active, cute and chubby.
Spent over 3 hours with grandson 4 years and family. Relaxed in lovely quiet environment for morning tea . Great time of Arrival 9am decided upon. Cost probably a little expensive for a family, but can see your monies have been well used keeping this Park beautiful and animals loved.
and just a nice one hour drive north out of city hustle and bustle.

The Australian Reptile Park was a great experience for our little one. It’s a great way to spend the day together as a family.
A number of animals form a part of the park including crocodiles, platypus, Koalas, Wallaby, Monitor lizards, Snakes etc. However, I did feel that the enclosures for some of the animals were smaller than expected and hopefully the reptile park will provide larger spaces for these wild animals.
If you are planning to visit, it’s better to pack a picnic than buy from the snack shop as most of the food items are expensive.
However, it was a good day visit from Sydney and provided a lot of insights into the world of reptiles.
Terrigal Beach is a popular city beach known for its calm surf conditions, making it perfect for swimming, boating, and scuba diving. The picturesque cove is surrounded by a boardwalk that leads to Terrigal Lagoon and Wamberal Beach on one side and Terrigal Haven on the other. The area is bustling with boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants that cater to visitors looking for a relaxing day in the sunshine.

One of the best beaches on the Central Coast of NSW— gorgeous clear water clean powder-like sand with a blue sky canopy surrounded by green hills!
There’s plenty of Cafes, restaurants hotels that serve fine dining and or fast food.
Very popular location with friendly atmosphere, great for families, couples for romances or family get togethers.
We have enjoyed coffee & seafood lunch at most of the eateries in Terrigal — all delicious and prices to suit your budget.
Parking can be challenging on public holidays but drive around and you’ll eventually snag a parking spot especially in the Haven.

We learned scuba diving in Terrigal Haven.

Hands down one of the best beaches in Central coast. It has amazing cafes and I enjoyed seeing people surf. Good place for dog walking. It however is crowded on weekends.

In a land full of beaches, I confess this is my favourite (but there is so much more to discover). The beach is close to a community park, lots of local coffee shops and restaurants. This all comes at a cost, as development is making this popular community over crowded with weekenders from the surrounding towns (or cities). The beach offered small waves for the novice surfer, and fine golden sand for the casual sun bather. There were plenty of dogs running around as well. Lots of activities at this beach for everyone.

Fun afternoon. Positives. Friendly staff. Lots to see and do. The little animal and reptile shows were really well done, informative and fun. The cafe had good food (Japanese salad was next level). Negatives. Over priced. Train safari was fun but a let down because it was too fast and you couldn't get out to go closer to the Lions. Place was all muddy from the rain and needed more paths and gravel. The mazes were very lackluster.

I took my older grandson for our annual 'nanni day'. He is 8 years old. We had a fabulous time at the Exotic Reptile Encounter with Keeper Brock. He gave my grandson so much interesting information about the animals we saw.
The farm and fun park were really enjoyable - especially as we were not overcrowded.
The maze was so much fun, particularly as we both got lost in it!! 🤣🤣

We had vouchers left over from Covid that were kept at the front desk for us to use at a later date. The staff were extremely accommodating when we asked to use them almost a year and a half later as we forgot about them. We had a wonderful time. The park was well kept and spread out. The kids loved seeing all the animals and running around the mazes. The highlight of the day however, was the train ride. The kids loved it so much and seeing all the zoo animals.

My son and I had a wonderful day attending the breakfast with the koalas. We had one day booked and something outside of my control happened, and the staff even checked we were okay and did everything to make sure we could attend on another day. The day itself was great value, nice and peaceful being there before the park officially opened. A good variety of food for the breakfast, followed by an educational talk about the koalas, and then we could meet them and have a photo. Then, we had the rest of the day to enjoy the park which was included in the package price. We will return again. A lovely vibe, wonderful staff and a lovely place to be. Thank you Amazement Farm & Fun Park.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit with nilly 3 year old. Petting zoo, pony ride (additional $8), teacup ride & mini Ferris wheel were perfect for her age, the operator for the rides was absolutely lovely. We also did a koala photo which was an additional $15 & was adorable to pat the koala & take a picture, keepers were also really lovely. The lions, camels & ostrich are accessible on the train which was great fun. We also met a wombat & gigantic python in the keeper talks. Loved the play equipment, did the maze, all in all I really couldn’t believe this gem was so close to home. Highly recommend for a fun day out with little ones.

Breakfast with the Koalas, Amazement Farm and Fun Park
We chose this event to celebrate our (adult) daughter's birthday and attended as a group of 6. We were seated on the cafe balcony, overlooking the gorgeous park. A delicious buffet style breakfast with plenty of choice including fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, mini quiches, croissants, mini muffins and condiments was provided, and there was definitely plenty of lovely food. Tea, coffee, juice and water were also unlimited and good quality. Cafe staff were friendly and welcoming.
The baby koalas arrived with their keepers, who gave an informative talk about these gorgeous animals. We were then invited up to pat them and have unlimited photo opportunity and to talk with the keepers.
A very relaxed and enjoyable experience, which was generous in time and very educational. This experience is totally about education, conservation and animal welfare.
Once the experience was over, we were welcome to spend time exploring the park, attending informative talks and taking a train ride past the gorgeous lions, tortoise, deer and to feed the camels and emu’s. The butterfly house was a great experience - where else can you hold a butterfly or relive the memories of collecting silk worms as a kid!
I would thoroughly recommend this for all ages. This park is modern, clean and all the animals look well cared for and healthy. A really pleasant place to spend a day.

Worth the trip from Sydney! Always something to look at or something going on. The place is constantly improving with more plans underway. Train ride included in entry and if it's too full and needs another train ride, they sometimes bring an animal out for education while you wait. Grab a feed bag, so many animals to feed. A lot to learn with a wide range of animals to read about and watch.

Pelicans flock to this waterfront spot for a daily feeding show given by a professional staff.
This is aleways the best place to hangout. Shallow river nearby ocean is picturesque. Pelicans are the scenic beauty of this place and weather is fantastically beautiful out there.

There's no feeding any more but still easy to spot a good pelican crowd

3.30pm on weekends and daily during school holidays. Donations are encouraged for these volunteers pay for the fish, vet costs and wildlife rehabilitation themselves.
Very educational and informative. Nice show if one is in the area. Too many kids in the playground and around. Nice for families.
Free parking in the multi storey carpark nearby.

This is a good place for Pelican feeding. Very good for kids. Good park, rides, fountain and much more. I went there couple of years ago. Beautiful view and crystal clear water. For me, it is one time must visit place, but I will not go the next time.
Kavita Mandhyan — Google review
We had a chance encounter with the pelicans and then waited around for a show entailing a brief history about pelicans followed by bird feeding. This actually happens everyday at 3:30 and anyone can watch it for free. Was lovely watching the birds.
Anwesha Sen Gupta — Google review
I arrived here 4.30pm, I still saw some Pelican rest besides the water.
ANNIE LIN — Google review
I was too early for the pelican feeding. I've witnessed the pelican feeding previously. It is an event, entertaining and educational. Please go and witness it.
For those early risers watching the sunset as I did this morning, at the pelican feeding theatre precinct, it is so calming and peaceful as you move into a new day. So much fun for family's in the area.

Pelican feeding is awesome. I enjoyed it
If I have a chance I will go again. It starts 3:30 pm every day. They are cute and smart. The nonprofit organization is the organizer of this even and the do really well. They get donation from people and protect pelicans. The funny part of the show was that the volunteer lady knows the name of the pelicans!!
The place is a good location for kids and families and tourists.
Cheers

Great information on local marine life very educational and great knowledge. And to help untangle 2 pelicans from fishing lines and hooks during the talk was amazing. Great job guys.

Worth to check it out if you are nearby. Sometimes it gets boring when the lady kept pretending to throw fish in order to attract more pelicans to come over.

The pelican show is definitely back on for 2023. Currently operating weekends and weekdays in school holidays at 3:30pm.

A driver's drive, beautiful road, and best to have both hands on the steering...for the majority of the drive😉.
Wolombi is a beautiful, quaint little village, unspoilt and extremely friendly people. Awesome general store, church, great museum, wonderful art gallery showcasing original work with a rich aboriginal history - stop by and say hello to Lynn, lovely lady with a genuine passion for the arts. You'll find her sat in the gallery working on beautiful painting! Awesome place to spend a weekend or an ideal stop before delving into wine country!

First time I’ve reviewed a road but feel compelled to tell everyone about this scenic drive from Sydney to Hunter Valley- much better than the highway. Great places to stop along the way as well- I recommend Saddles and Wollombi Tavern.
Sam Armstrong — Google review
Nice scenic stretch of road! We drove this as a little detour between Sydney and Newcastle and I thought it was well worth it. We had a little stopover in the old town of Wollombi, where you can have a little walk and the kids can play.

It was awesome... We have been traveling to hunter valley from last 5 years but never took this route... We loved it... No traffic.... Just that you will have to be aware as there are lot of biked in this route.. So be careful while driving.... It's a very scenic route and you will come across lot of small beautiful towns and Cafe..

Tourist Drive 33, Sydney to Hunter Valley
Great alternative to driving up the highway is to take Tourist Drive 33 through some really nice farmland and towns. There are a few places to stop such as Thompsons Bridge, Trading Post (for coffee or a drink in the rustic terrace, then just walk around), then there is the town of Wollombi, where you have a variety of cafes, a pub (where they were playing 2-up on Anzac Day), and restaurants including Myrtle & Stone which has a good selection of meals and great service, with 2 wrap around balconies and garden terrace out back.

I love this drive with all the small rustics villages/ country beauty. The landscape always changes, so I keep on coming back.
Popular for weddings, this traditional beacon built in 1903 offers lodging & scenic ocean views.
The tour is well worth the admission. Very interesting building providing great views at the top. Our guide was very well informed and was able to answer our questions.
One note for other visitors - get your tickets at the top in the gift 'stable' as you can't buy them at the lighthouse itself and you will have to walk all the way back to the start to get them.
Michael Niemz — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit. It's an easy walk from the parking to the lighthouse and then down the steps to the rocky shore. There are little pockets of water so the kids can splash around. Absolutely gorgeous.
There is a cafe nearby so grab a coffee and enjoy the views.

We went on a tour of lighthouse, worth every cent. $10 adults, $5 kid. Staff were amazing. Our tour guide Rhonda was awesome. We went on Saturday 24-6-2023. Beautiful day for it. I definitely recommend going, and paying the very little cost to go in and see it. Worth it. Thankyou 😊

Beautiful spot to watch the sunrise or sunset, with views of the ocean almost 360°.
The local wildlife is bountiful and the plants are lush.
The views are beautiful and the surrounding nature walks are stunning, with a walking track up the hill.
Great lighthouse tour, the local tour guides are amazing and 10/10 would recommend.

Norah Head Lighthouse, a picturesque destination just a brief drive from Sydney, offers a delightful blend of historical significance and breathtaking vistas. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a team of dedicated volunteers, including a gentleman whose wealth of knowledge about the lighthouse and its surroundings added a personal touch to the experience. He regaled us with tales of his impressive feat of ascending the lighthouse eight times in a single day, a testament to his passion for the site.
Ascending to the apex of the lighthouse rewarded me with unparalleled panoramic views, showcasing the azure expanse of the Pacific Ocean juxtaposed against the rugged coastline. From this elevated vantage point, The Entrance revealed itself as a charming enclave, beckoning visitors with its idyllic beaches and vibrant atmosphere.
Norah Head Lighthouse transcends mere tourist attraction status; it stands as a living testament to history, meticulously preserved by a dedicated team of individuals. For travelers venturing to The Entrance, a visit to this iconic landmark is indispensable. Prepare to be enthralled by its beauty and enriched by its storied past.

This place is one of the best destinations you don’t want to miss when visiting Central Coast.
Its a historic and a unique lighthouse surrounded by the beautiful beaches.
There’s a lot of places to visit while staying in the nearest holiday park around.

What a beautiful spot! The lighthouse and the walk to the beach was wonderful. There was a lot of interesting history to see and read about. It was icy cold and blowing a gale when we visited but it was still very enjoyable. The beach and rocks are amazing.

Great light house and the tour. It's worth it. You get a majestic view of the beautiful nature in the surroundings. The guide was good giving us information about the olden day light house management and details.

We had an informative tour guide, it was short and sweet. Walked up 96 stairs, 3 sublevels and the outside view from the top was spectacular. Totally recommend. For our family of 8 we were given a discount and paid $40 for a wholesome experience.
Would definitely go back again.

Great lighthouse and location, the grounds around it are always clean, walking track down to the beach and views are also spectacular. Plenty of seating areas and lookouts.
The also hold a tour of the lighthouse, you can walk up to the top and learn about the history of it all for about $10 - $15
Takes about 20 minutes but worth doing if you are there
Josh Sutto — Google review
A great landmark to visit, when we were visiting a rainbow just appeared on the ocean. Parking was sufficient at the time but when the weather is good or when it's summer you might struggle to find a spot. Most spots seemed to be taken up by people fishing off the rocks below as it wasn't that busy at the lighthouse itself.
Arnie Thoma — Google review
Great photo taking location with lighthouse, headland, ocean views, beautiful sunset and sunrise spot, car parking nearby and a nice comfortable walk to the points of interest.
There are paid lighthouse tours if you wish to go inside the lighthouse.
Malcolm Kirwan — Google review
Beautiful and serene spot to listen to the waves from the top and then go down to the beach to watch the waves spurting out from between the flat rocks. The tour allows you to go to the top of the lighthouse and gives you an interesting perspective about how things used to be done in the lighthouse more than 100 years ago. Geoff was a fantastic tour guide. Tip: book accommodation at the rustic lighthouse keeper cottage for an overnight stay to take in the experience. Avoid wedding/ band days for the stays
prashanth nair — Google review
Nice lighthouse surrounded by accessible rocks via stairs down the cliff edge. Open grass spaces around the lighthouse to allow for a break or picnic, plenty of lookout spots and things to see
Jess Perkins — Google review
This is no doubt a best highlight of our trip to Central Coast. It's a perfect place to chill out.
We went once and then went back again the next day. The following day was more of a picnic to enjoy the rock pool and beach and enjoy the coastal and rock walk.
This place has a number of benches to enjoy the meal. I must say benches were spotless cleaned.
The place was nice busy with ample parking spaces. No booking is required as this place is walk-in for public.
Light house is mesmerising. I used to use it as a navigation way point during my sea time onboard commercial and passenger ships.
The place gives you a very warm feeling inside which only sailor can understand.
Love this place ❤️.
You all enjoy your time there.
Abid Iqbal — Google review
We came here at night, after driving pass and seeing the huge beams of light passing by. The lighthouse was a beauty to look at, and it was amazing to see it in action at night, illuminating the majority of the beach. We were also able to see the lights of the ships in the distance, and saw some lovely scenery of the beaches below. They had guided tours for the inside of the lighthouse, which we didn't go, but it looked interesting. I would recommend going at night to see it in action, and we enjoyed the history lessons on plaques. Loved the experience!

So damn relaxing place.
Couldnt go inside the lighthouse as it closes always around 3:00 pm and we reached late.
But the place was worth it to make good memories.
Below the lighthouse, just a 5 min walk you can go near the sea and enjoy the view of the beautiful ocean.
I will visit this place again next time.

Had such a lovely time here!! Got there at about 10:30am and went in for a guided tour. Our tour guide was so lovely and knew so much about the lighthouse. Watagans National Park is a serene rainforest reserve offering campsites, trails, and Gap Creek Falls. The park boasts areas with aboriginal art and tranquil forest expanses lined with ferns. Visitors can expect to hear beautiful bird calls and witness an array of wildlife. Access may require an AWD due to potholes in the unmaintained areas recommended only for experienced 4WD drivers.
Stunning place with endless locations to explore. So many beautiful lookouts and plenty of wildlife

Lovely place for getting away from city stresses. Whether riding a mount bike, going for dirt road adventures, camping or even overnight hiking, this would be one of your best destinations.
No drama for parking or entry fees as both are free. No time limits. Next to state forests where you can collect fire wood and enjoy being in nature with your beloved dog; sounds very pleasant old fashion style.
My last visit was fun with a bunch of friends (on the way back to Sydney) for a short 7km hike and enjoying a wonderful view at Monkey Face Lookout.
This area is my regular-visiting destination for my spiritual times.

Super relaxing and lovely forest 🌳
Full of different trees, plants, insects and more.
Lovely place to go for a walk and listen the cicadas and waterfall.
Is a bit complicated to go down the waterfall so is a track full of trees in the middle and big stones.
Ideal for meditation or yoga if you like it and also was some people doing some climbing with a rope there too.

Beautiful place, going to the Falls is a must visit. You will love this place after visiting the Falls and spending some time there. You won't really be able to swim as the water is shallow. The path to reach the Falls will take about 45 min but worth the pain. NO PAIN NO GAIN. Some steep steps down, any kids should be watched on by a parent as getting down and coming back up is a hard journey. ❤❤. You will love the falls

Amazing Australian forest. Make sure to bring some mosquitos repelent b3cause you will definitely need one. Very humid environment. If you go down the waterfall treck you will have a refreshing reward at the end.
Juan Fanesi — Google review
If you can visit on a weekday - it's alot quieter. Beautiful forest areas, some with fern lined roads. Lots of beautiful bird calls.
Mostly need an AWD for access as there's often lots of potholes and some are quite deep. Wouldn't recommend a sedan in most parts.
If a road says unmaintained - it is only for the seasoned 4WD drivers.
Must take own food, water & drinks. Take away your own rubbish. Remember insect repellant & be prepared for leeches in damp areas.
Be sure to check your maps before entering the park as there may be no service in some areas.
Beautiful beach, not “too” busy even at the weekends. Nice place to walk the dogs further up the beach away from swimming area, and some good parking behind the cemetery for quick access down ti the beach

Caves Beach is a region situated on the Swansea peninsula, located between Lake Macquarie and the Pacific Ocean in Greater Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Lake Macquarie local government area. The name 'Caves Beach' has been given to this locality owing to a substantial amount of caves present along its shoreline.
The Blackbutt Nature Reserve is a 182 hectare reserve in the suburbs of Newcastle, Australia that features walking trails, playgrounds and picnic shelters with free electric barbecues. The main attraction at the reserve are the animals living there, including koalas, emus, wallabies, wombats and peacocks. The boardwalks make it easy to take kids on walks around the enclosures and see these animals up close.
We’re big native animal fans and this is a great, free park with great access to native animals. There’s paid parking but access to the park is free.
We loved the emus, wombats, kangaroos and bird exhibits. The staff are friendly and there’s a great picnic and grass area with barbecues and play equipment to bring the family. We spent about an hour there and would recommend it to anyone in or visiting Newcastle.
Adam Hendry — Google review
Beautiful place unfortunately no regulations, so lots of screaming kids disturbing the poor animals. Would love to see more signs or see parents teach their kids to be quiet. A few of these animals are nocturnal... Do better! Worth a visit regardless.

Lovely place for kids to see and enjoy Aussie animals. Plenty to do and see, could be an all day activity, if you bring a picnic lunch or cook a bbq. Busy on weekends, but quiet during the week. There is a playground there too. The boardwalk where you can view the animals opens at 10am. It’s $13 per day for parking (or $4 per hour).

No entry fee, car park $8 for 2 hours. Absolutely loved it, it wasn't too busy being a week day and we took our time in every single enclosure. Animals seem very well looked after. My favourite was the wombat with the bonus of seeing them first outside eating and then at the end of the tour in their "tunnels" sleeping! Great experience, would definitely recommend.

What a great area, always drove past to/from work but never knew what it was. Great for kids parties, large grass area, playground and BBQ areas. Parking is $14 for the day but entry to see animals is free so well worth it. Also lots of bushwalks, get amongst it!

A nice place to hangout for picnic or small parties. Kids will love the place as there is a small walking trail, which goes through a lot of wildlife like owls, lizards, peacocks, birds of various kinds on display.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a free native wildlife display. The birds were amazing and were so close. The peacocks were particularly enjoyable. We've never seen such big ones! They were not afraid to come quite close to us and put on a lovely display of their feathers. We wished we could have gone on a longer walk as they looked good but my father was not feeling well. They have very good toilet facilities, the kiosk was open until 3pm and the lady who runs it I'd very friendly. Would love to go back

Visited on a weekday, so not busy at all and very easy to find a car park. Good amenity facilities and great playground and picnic area. Absolutely a great place to spend some quality time with your kids and family. Highly recommend, will come again!

Good place to take the whole family with play ground, walking trails, electric barbecues, park benches and tables, paid under cover shelter and even a kiosk (closed when we visited on a Tuesday). Nicely maintained and kept clean. Entry is free but there are parking metres out in the parking lot with minum fee of $5. There's a duck pond located just after the well maintained lawn near the entrance with peacocks and wild turkeys roaming the grounds even out in the car park area. In the enclosed animal enclosures there are wallabies, kangaroos and emus.
Nitro Cars — Google review
The last time I had been here was close to a decade ago. The amount of effort put in to upgrade the facilities and cleanup the water quality in the main pond is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for eating a takeaway lunch or just quiet contemplation during the week. Not so quiet on weekends or holidays.
Steve Dad — Google review
What a huge and wonderful place for family barbecues and picnics and areas to play.
The animal enclosure was such a surprise...
Sadly, we were let down by the absence and clarity of signage for walking. We would come to the t junction and sign showing 2 directions not 3 and placed in a funny spot.
We have hiked many parks and we were dismayed to get lost at this one and walked right outside onto the main road to get back to our car.
Meg Emerton — Google review
Came across this wonderful reserve today and so glad we did. It's beautifully maintained, with many walking tracks, sheltered seating areas, alongside BBQ areas, clean restrooms & various shelters that you can book in advance. The well constructed walkways take you amongst the trees, where you can see an amazing variety of animals. At the pond, we stopped and were thrilled to see many tortoises, trying to camouflage themselves amongst the underwater habitat. There is also a well constructed playground with lots of tactile activities for the kids.
A perfect spot for the whole family! 🙂🙂🙂

Really lovely peaceful place to go if you just want a brief outing, want to stretch your legs and have a low key animal spotting experience.
Louise Hambly — Google review
A wonderful place to visit. Beautiful scenery, wildlife and overall facilities. The only issue is paid parking which at $4 an hour is pretty pricey. As well as that the meters don't work. So unless you're prepared to put another app on your phone, it's a problem. Ok so I'm a Little bit tainted because when our kids were young it was always free to come here and I have many happy memories from those years. Difficult for people struggling with the current cost of living issues to now bring kids out for some fun and adventure in the bush when Newcastle Council is money grabbing with metered parking.
Michael Rogers — Google review
Really good spot, fun for the whole family. Got to see some amazing peacocks and emus which was really cool. The opening times could be a bit earlier, overall it was a solid walking track. It was peaceful and quite pretty, you can see things such as Rosellas, Cockatoos, Peacocks, Wallaby’s, Emus and more. Good place :)

Great variety of native animals (koalas, emus, kangaroos, a wide variety of birds etc). Amazing that this is free entry - many other reserves would charge for such a collection of animals.

The Newcastle Memorial Walk is a pathway that overlooks the cliffs of Strzelecki Headland with amazing views of the ocean. The pathway is made up of steel sculptures that commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Australian soldiers who fought in World War I.
Nice view from the elevated path. Spectacular view of the sea, beach, city. If you get a chance check the rain approaching over the sea.

Popular little spot to visit. Especially in school holidays. Had to park a couple of streets away and walk up the hill to it. Great views and beautiful place to walk though. Worth having to park far away.

Great scenic walk high up along the cliff. Park at the top can be limited. If you can walk up, plenty of carparka by the beach side

Beautiful scenic walk along the coast.
The only down side and not advertised is that there are stairs after about 450 Meters of starting and prams cannot go beyond that.
A big disappointment but never the less beautiful walk.

Fantastic walk along the cliff tops. Excellent views to sea (pun intended)
The wind was so strong today it ripped my wig off. If I don’t get it back there will be hell to pay.

If you’re visiting Newcastle, you should check out this beautiful coastal walk which showcases this stunning coast line, plenty of water stations and views along the way. Can get steep at some points along can get busy so pick your times. I would recommend early morning.

Park your car here, you can walk on both sides, one side is the city view and the other is the sea view, you must come here to enjoy this view, you can walk up to the other end to see the sea.
Great place to take pictures for your girl.
It is very easy to park here, there is a small parking lot and there are many places on the road.

The walk is wonderful , the ocean view is so impressive, the waves are so big and I can see rainbow. Also spot some dolphins in distance. Highly recommended

Stunning bit of coastline! 🌊 There are some stairs, but it's worth it.
This walk reminds me of the Bondi to Manly walk in Sydney near Dover Heights, epic cliff views that spill out onto a beach.
Great history info along the Anzac Bridge. And have a coffee at Swell at the end! ☕

Easy walk with spectacular views. If you park in the carpark walk up the pathway to get to the top then finish the walk down the stairs.

Beautiful and short walk to take in the views of the ocean and the city. We got there at sundown and it was a beautiful sight to see the city lights. Highly recommend.

Visited there on a bright sunny day. Awesome sea view - full of mist, cold breeze.

Nice walk, if you’re in Newcastle you should definitely make time to fit this in and enjoy the sea breeze why walking along the boardwalk. If you have time you can also head down to the beach and explore some of the nearby cafes etc

Nice walk from Scott St, slightly hilly.
Amazing views.
Shepherds Hill cottage sits on top of the hill with historical battlement lookout perched on edge of cliff.
Parking out front if coming by car and apparently close to start of Memorial Walk which I will do for another day.
Sadly graffiti on the outpost stops this pristine site from being 5 star.

I had the privilege of visiting the "New Castle Memorial Walk" in NSW, Australia, and it left a profound impression. The breathtaking coastal views from this soaring bridge were absolutely captivating, providing a poignant backdrop to the memorial's significance. The walk itself is a testament to the region's rich history and the sacrifices of those who served. The well-maintained pathway, informative plaques, and serene ambiance made it a moving and educational experience. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty, history, and reflection, and it stands as a poignant tribute to the past.

Nice walk with photos and information on the Anzac memorial. I did the entire coastal walk from Nobbys Lighthouse down to Merewether beach - most of the walk has fantastic views, similar to most other coastal walks on the NSW coast. Highly recommend this walk.

Newcastle Memorial Walk is a poignant journey that seamlessly weaves together natural beauty and historical reflection. As you ascend the elevated path along the coastline, the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean unfold, creating a serene backdrop that complements the solemn purpose of the walk.
The memorial plaques that line the pathway serve as poignant reminders of the sacrifices made by Australian soldiers in various conflicts. Each plaque tells a unique story, contributing to the collective narrative of bravery and commitment to duty. The juxtaposition of the serene coastal landscape with the weight of history creates a contemplative atmosphere, inviting visitors to reflect on the profound impact of war.
The architectural design of the walk is not only functional but also harmonizes with the rugged coastal environment. It's a thoughtful integration that enhances the overall experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in both nature and history. Sunset transforms the scene, casting a warm glow on the ocean and adding an extra layer of beauty to this already significant memorial.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful stroll, a connection to history, or simply a moment of reflection, the Newcastle Memorial Walk offers a multifaceted experience that resonates with locals and visitors alike. It stands as a living tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who have served, set against the backdrop of Newcastle's stunning coastal vistas.

Such a meaningful and beautiful place. The memorial walk oversees not just the rugged coast but the city. What a dignified way to commemorate the contributions of the deserving people.

Beautiful and respectful walk. Bonus was seeing a pod of dolphins. Heaps for parking at the bottom end but you need to climb quite a few stairs. Park at the top end and you go do the majority of the walk and best views without any steps making it accessible. Downside is limited parking close by but there are two disabled parks.
A kid-friendly museum with interactive exhibits related to the area's industrial & natural history. It is housed in three old railway workshop buildings and has got right when it comes to engaging kids. There are special exhibitions regularly that cover everything from coal mining to Newcastle history.
So many beautiful pictures, artifacts and knowledge to learn from. Great place for family, school to have a trip. Free entry for everyone which is awesome as well.
Hermione Le — Google review
The historical section of the museum is quite nice with lots of stories to tell, albeit not that large as it’s all confined to practically one room.
The science section is great for kids as it’s completely interactive and there are lots of activities to choose from.
If you’re going as just adults, you would probably only visit the historical section which can be covered in 20-30 mins so just take not of that. Also the amenities are well kept!
Overall it’s quite an informative museum with lots to learn from, although one small complaint is that some exhibits, such as the automobile, were covered in a heap of dust.

Great way to kill some time productively... The dinosaur section was ticketed but was worth it.. Everything about the history of the city and its backbone industries.. Really helpful museum staff...

This is a must to go if you visit Newcastle. You will learn the history of how the city of steel got its name. The team at the Newcastle history has done a brilliant job in assembling the artifices that brings out the historic evidence of the city. Entrance was free and there was a special Space and science related exhibition which always available at a fee. I highly recommend.

Went there for a work function and what a wonderful setting it is. Beautiful old buildings mixed with some modern tie-ins. Fantastic memorabilia inside as well

Fun little "free" place to spend an hour or two.
You can obviously go through in a hurry in about 20 minutes, but I suggest, take your time, read the plaques, learn from history and enjoy the 9 minute BHP light and sound show.
There are other displays that come through that you can pay for, but the free experience is really good value for money. 😜

What a perfect way to spend an afternoon at the museum with my boy, plenty of things to see and do. He got his hands on all kinds of experiments and we had an amazing time.

Interesting and lovely small museum. I went through all exhibits in about 1.5hrs. Loved the "Motels" exhibit. One of the smaller museums I've visited but we'll worth the visit. Free entry.

Great museum with interactive exhibits and displays with all sorts of interesting science or forces at play ranging from magnetic field interactions to lever systems that allow the user to casually lift a car with one arm.
There was no queue, no wait, and friendly staff were at the door to direct us where we needed to go.
10/10 would visit again.

Cool modern museum in historic building. The miner display was interesting and the light show showing the metal being poured was wild with smoke. Clean bathrooms, tidy displays with good descriptions and good childrens science room.
Alice Moon-Star — Google review
Free museum that’s right in front of the light rail line so extremely convenient.
Not the most exciting for my digital aged kids but that’s hardly a fault of the museum, and it is free after all.
Probably spent about an hour walking through and learning a bit about the history of Newcastle and Australia in general.
There’s also space thing on the side but it costs $15 which we didn’t do.
If you go through another section with the large organ and train, there’s a hidden room which really should have some signage given the kids had the most fun in there. It’s got lots of science gadgets which when the kids discovered, didn’t want to leave. Another hour in here easily as it’s two rooms.
If you are beached out, this is definitely worth a visit.

Great little muesum, i wasn't sure if my two girls would be interested, but i was very pleased that they enjoyed the visit just as much as i did. There is plenty of history about the local area and a hands-on science exhibit to keep the kids interested. With free entry excluding the feature exhibit, it is definitely worth a stop. We found only paid parking around the area but plenty of it. We parked at the foreshore park carpark ($12 all day) closer to the beach as we planned on visiting the beach later on. We caught the light rail from Newcastle Beach Station up to the museum.

As a Novocastrian this was better than I expected having never gone there. Very clean and staff friendly and helpful. Would go again. Kids thought was great. Only lost a star as some exhibits didnt work but overall a great experience.
Just re parking. Be careful to be out before your time runs out. Newcastle Brown Bombers work weekends too $$$$$$!

Took the kids to the Museum. It was free entry for which was a bonus. Loved taking the kids around and seeing some of Newcastle's history. The old Ford was a bonus. I highly recommend as a day out activity. You'll spend a few hours going around and the hands on science exhibit was alot of fun. We will be back to do it again.

As with most museums, it is a great place to learn about the history of the city. I especially loved the information about immigration to Newcastle and the coal mining sector there which seems to have been a big part of the city going back over a century
Located in Newcastle, the Fort Scratchley Museum houses a collection of military history exhibits, including tunnels that take visitors underground to see the fort's artillery and battlements. The museum also features daily cannon firings and regular tours of the grounds.
Beautiful and historic places by the Newcastle coast. Well kept and maintained by the veterans and gives us a nice peep into the history of the area and the fort's significance in maintaining security. The highlight is the cannon firing at the stroke of 1 pm.

I recently visited Fort Scratchley in Newcastle and it definitely did not disappoint. It's a fantastic place to explore and learn about Australia's rich military history. The museum was very impressive, with lots of interesting exhibits and photographs of the past. The fort itself was fascinating to explore, with its turrets, fixed defences and artillery pieces from the 1880s era. It was an educational and enjoyable experience, and I would highly recommend visiting Fort Scratchley to anyone with an interest in Australian military history.

What an absolutely amazing historic place! Must see when in Newcastle! Free to enter the grounds and walk around self-guided but I highly recommend the Tunnels Tour. Around $10 for just over an hour tour. You go down and explore the gun tunnels up to 8m under the ground. It is fairly flat walking but it's a solid hour with really no seating so keep in mind your walking/standing ability. There was a lady with a walking stick and she managed. Also highly recommend being there for 1pm cannon clock firing. I would allow an easy 2.5hrs+ to explore and tour.
Deb Crompton — Google review
A wonderful historic site filled with local history. You can either take a free self guided tour or pay for the tunnel tour like we did and be taken underground by a friendly and knowledgeable guide who will talk about the guns on the site as well as share first hand experience of life at the time. A must for any local and a perfect activity for any tourist. It's easily accessible too from the Light Rail or there is ample onsite parking.

Wonderfully looked after by a dedicated historical society. Tours run several times a day in a set timetable. They go for 60-90 minutes. The chap who took us through was very knowledgeable and made the experience very pleasant and interesting, would highly recommend the tour. The cannon firing is most days at 1pm except when the weather stops them.
Entry is free to the fort and all the display rooms and bits and pieces. To see in the tunnels inside the fort is paid, not all that expensive. A fellow who was in the military had the tour for free as far as I can tell so if you are a service person they must let you in for free.
While there are toilets on site, once you are on the tour you are toilet less for the duration
Although I'm sure they would let you out if you asked

Fort Scratchley shares a fantastic wealth of historic treasures! We did the tour with Wayne and he was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. We got to see the 1pm gun firing, which was very cool! Watching the gun firing is free and the tour is cheap, no need to buy tickets online, but maybe check the tour times. We paid for the tour on the day of and we already knew the time so there was no wait at all! We will definitely be back on one of the dates where they fire more guns. There are heaps of displays and some really unique stuff in the store. All of the staff were super nice, making jokes and just seemed to be really fun people. The views of the surrounding areas and ocean are beautiful too. The fort is awesome and the people make it fun! Highly recommend!!

This Fort is well worth a visit when travelling to Newcastle. There is an underground tour the takes about an hour. The tour concentrates on the armaments and guns that would have been used in the event of enemy attack. None of the guns had ever been used in anger or in difference. The fortification took 18 months to compete. A very big Job with not a lot of machinery available. Be aware that this venue is opened at 10..00am and closes at 04.00pm.
The views from the top are awesome!!!!!

Brilliant, although you used to be able to wonder through the tunnels on your own, but now you have to pay for a tour.. Although the tour was informative and fun, so I don't regret that at all..
Also, you can no longer walk through the trenches above ground.. Which is a shame.

A brilliant way to spend the morning in Newcastle. We visited with 3 kids aged between 6 and 14 and they were all totally enthralled. I would highly recommend the tour of the tunnels and the fort which goes for about 90 minutes. There are also parts of the fort that you can explore by yourself. Make sure to be there at 1pm for the firing of the cannon. The gift shop has some nifty little gifts and memorabilia.

This spot is definitely a highlight. I was greeted by an older gentleman who has worked there for 31 years. He explained everything to me in detail. I was very grateful for his meet and greet and enjoyed this beautiful place afterwards! A must do in Newcastle. Also for whale and dolphin watching.

One of the best historical attractions in the country 1 pm the fire the gun for the harbour based ships to sink time. Volunteers are just so helpful. The grounds are perfect views spectacular and the history is just so well preserved. The shop is limited though not many souvenirs and no warm food not even a pie. But the place it self makes up for that. A most visit and a credit to the people of Newcastle. Well done the volunteers.

I had been wanting to visit Fort Scratchley, I finally did and had an amazing time there. The place has great views, military uniform displays, weapon displays and a great spot to whale watch.
The spot next to the guns gives you almost a 360 view of the city as well as of the lighthouse, nobby's beach and the Newcastle beach.
Place is free to visit, no tickets required. Although the tour of the underground tunnels would require a ticket.
There are toilets available as well.
There is free parking available. The guards are also very accommodating and helpful.

Lovely place with free entrance, great view over the ocean with the chance of spotting some whales.
Also a great view over the beach.
The Fort itself is well maintained, informative display of the history of the area in WWII and the event of firing on a Japanese submarine.
It also has a souvenir shop where you can buy... well... some souvenirs ;-)

Historical part of Newcastle History and well looked after in the hands of the passionate volunteers. The ability to walk the grounds by tour or solo and have an underground tunnel tour means the new generations will come to appreciate the significance of this site. Cold drinks available at the kiosk.
The views of the Harbour are worth the hill climb. Limited parking on site.

I went up on ANZAC day and they did the cannon shooting during the day.
It was a very interesting and if you like history, then be sure to go inside the tunnels.
There's also great panaromic views of Nobby's Beach and views. Definitely a must see attraction when you're up here.

Build in the early 1880s to protect the industrial port of the city soon it became one important defense structure throughout the upcoming major world conflicts like World War II. The entrance is free. You will get to know the history of the Fort by visiting 6 rooms which will take you on a journey from pre- European times to the current day. There are guided tours to the tunnels and you can purchased the tickets at the gift shop. Every day at 1 pm you will get to see a World War I canon being fired. Breathtaking views of the city. Toilets , food and beverage available at the place. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Took the tunnels tour, Ross was very informative and polite. We turned up just as the tour was going to start at 11:30am and then in time for the firing of the mini cannon demonstration at 1pm.
Great stop, even if you do not take the tour. The view from the top is great, overlooking the beach.
Parking is limited, may have to park further by the beach and walk up, toilets available.

Very well done and informative. Tunnels tour was worth it, Wayne was a great tour guide. They also fire the gun at 1pm everyday.
Nobby's Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Newcastle, and for good reason- it has a long, curved shoreline with beautiful ocean baths to enjoy year-round, as well as Nobby's Lighthouse overlooking the water. There are also picnic areas and shelters to relax in, making it a great spot for families. In Summertime, beware of the waves - they can be pretty rough!
One of the best beaches I've been to. It was not crowded. The sand was soft. Fantastic views. We went early in the morning on a Sunday, although there were lots of cars already, we could still find parking. There's essential amenities here.
