We love taking our young sons here to explore, hike and play. You typically need to pay an entrance fee as it is a National Park, though you can pay for annual entrance fee. There is ample car parking, though it can get super packed! Toilet block, picnic benches and lots of areas to set up for a lunch. The trails are generally well sign posted. A great spot not too far out of Perth.

Good area for hike and picnic.
Good for bird watching . Occassionaly Kangaroos might greet you too.
Got rest rooms and picnic areas.
Have all different types of hike.

Lovely spot for a picnic or BBQ with the family, play equipment for the kids and lite walking tracks for everyone. The tavern can get a bit crowded and busy around lunchtime so get your kids ice-cream early to avoid a wait.

John Forrest National park is a very good reserve for outing. It is preferred to take drinking water with you. There are some attraction sites including natural falls.

Its a well maintain forest. I like the trails. Love the view and the the story of the place as well. My suggestion is prepare water bottle as you go trail, especially on the hot summer like now. They do have a great picnic area.
porq99 — Google review
A lovely national park with relics from its history preserved alongside new amenities.
Friendly kangaroos that frequent the tavern are a tourist drawcard, but the tavern will be bulldozed soon, to make way for more carpark and a Cafe, I believe.
A Park Pass entry fee is paid per car on entry to the park ($15).
Good walking trails. Public toilets. Plenty of wildlife.
Well worth a visit and an awesome place to take overseas and interstate visitors.

Wow! 😍 My first time here with my family and we loved it! Beautiful scenery and views and the area is massive! We are definitely planning to go back to see more of this place, we only covered around 6kms and I couldn't tell you which trail we did 😅

Great little walk and specifically for the Tunnel. It's an interesting part of WA history that more people should know about. But it's cool how most things built in the late 1800s were linked, from Fremantle to the Perth Mint to this Tunnel, they all played a part in the bigger scheme that was Western Australia at the time.
Go on, go check it out

I love it every time not only for the tranquility but also the exercise plus as a bonus you might see the kangaroo's

A good place to walk, enjoy the view and have a good day of picnic. Be sure to use sunscreen, wear a hat and bring a liter or more of water per person. 😊

Great place for a walk. Lots of different walking options. Flat walks to more off piste walks. Trails are well directed with regular markers, so you can't get lost. Nice picnic areas. Good for families as well as avid walkers.

Great national park full of lovely views, nature and points of historical interest. Some nice spots to have a picnic and BBQ as well, although there are large areas of the park in the natural state with few or no amenities.
Make sure you plan your visit as some of the best spots are only accessible by foot/bike and take a while to get to.

Lovely open space for everyone but pets!
Big space for a stroll, running and surprisingly, even bouldering!
Good for people of all ages.
Don't fancy to move at all? You will still enjoy the picnic and barbecue areas right around the parking spots with occasional kangaroos and spectacular sunsets!

No dogs/pets allowed. Place is good if you want to walk in trail, get inside the tunnel and falls, Good place to spend time with your family and friends. There is picnic area as well.

A beautiful location around 30 mins from Perth providing bbq / picnic facilities, toilets and plenty of parking but be warned, it's $15 entry per car. Make a day if it and get your entry fees worth.
Walking trails of various lengths with waterfalls nearby. Dont forget a hat and sunscreen.
I wouldn't recommend going during rain or extreme heat. Spring and autumn is a great time.
Lesmurdie Falls National Park is known for its beautiful waterfall, hiking trails and stunning views of the Perth skyline. The park is great for a relaxing day out with plenty of trails to explore.
An amazing place to hike and experience nature not too far out of Perth! There are different car parks to access the park and different routes to hike, can take dogs also. The lookout offers great views of the bushland and city in the distance. You can also view the falls from the bottom and climb up the rocks to get close and personal! At the top close to the lookout there are toilets.

Many trails to follow. Dogs on leash allowed. Ideal place to hike on a good day. Not too far from the city. No issue with parking (car park and road side). Good to take your own food and drinks. Beautiful views of the falls and the city.

A place that can be handle well for a beginner level hiker like me - might be a little boring for those high level as less challenging! We start about 11am and finished in an hour about, didn't finish the whole trail as getting hot and a lot flies there ~ we dare not keep open our mouth and talk 😅 (P was keep swiging his hand while walking 😆)
🔅 Thanks to P for fulfilled my wishlist 🙌🙏

Awesome place for a walk. Take sturdy shoes, hat and water .
Not much water flowing but still beautiful.
Burns offs made view to city smoky.
Very different to when I hiked in September with the water flowing majestically and the bush bursting with wild flowers.
Trails this time quite overgrown in some parts.
Angela Bowater — Google review
Try to visit this place after rain to see the real beauty of the Lesmurdie waterfalls. The water falls are seen at their best when the discharge is great just after heavy rain. It is also a nice place for hiking and experiencing the natural beauty of the hills.

Beautiful place for a hike, family picnic. Has a few nice picnic benches to sit and eat and enjoy the view, but no public barbecue around to cook, so carry your food stuff. Public toilets available, but no drinking water. Walking ramp from car park for wheelchair access. There are railings to hold at difficult steep spots to make the hike easier even for slightly older generation and younger kids. Different trail options available. The easiest hike option is less than 700metres and not difficult at all. Ample parking spots as well.

Stunning place to visit. We went sun arvo in Sept.
Limited car parking & signs saying fines for parking on verges.
Limited picnic tables
There were toilets the smell hit you way before you got too close so didn’t venture further! (This was all at the top car park)
The tracks to the main lookout are fairly easy, anything else and you definitely need good walking shoes. Was a mild spring day, definitely need water, sunscreen and hat.
We hiked to the shoulder, to avoid some of the crowds, but think we missed the main path and headed straight down. Was lovely and cool at the bottom. There is another car park at the bottom.
Plenty of water flowing, but have also been in summer when that isn’t the case.
Really enjoyed my day, but was quite busy. Taking the route we did there wasn’t too many people until you got to the main lookouts then it was really busy. But oh the views!!!
Jane Jarvis — Google review
We hiked on Saturday morning from 9.30am onwards - was very cloudy and looked like it was going to rain. But an hour later the sun came out and it was sunny as!
First time here - waterfall was beautiful! Trails easy to walk. Except if you want to climb closer to the foot of the falls (the rocks are quite steep).
Great exercise for me and my friend. Beautiful wildflowers were an added bonus! Will definitely come back again!

Absolutely great place to short hiking & enjoy the view. You can see Perth downtown from far away. The hiking trails is medium difficulty so make sure wearing your shoes. The falls is beautiful & such a rare scene. You can walk down around 15 minutes (slow walk) until the bottom of the falls. Always full at weekend, so recommend come at workdays for more nature scenery

I always love coming out here with my partner. It's a beautiful view of the city and surrounding suburbs. You also see planes flying around Perth and when the sky is clear at night you can see the stars and moon. Out only issue is parking. The place is so popular that it can be hard to get a park. Lots of trails to walk and public restroom available to use. Seating for breaks and picnics are also spotted around the walking paths and there are platforms you can walk to, to check out the view. Always open as there is no closure of the area. Recommend.

Absolutely amazing trails. From easy to hard trails. The views were amazing. We took the Pink trail (the longer one) All our family got through it, from 4 year old through to 55 year old, all non experienced.

It’s always a pleasure come here for hiking, spending some time away from the chaos of the city, listening to the nature elements, watching the flow of the water in the small streams and observe the waterfalls, encounter birds, insects, see the blossoms of plants and flowers. You have different tracking levels sorted by difficult and lengths. Awesome place to exercise your muscles as well as your dog’s one. There are bathrooms and picnic tables or flat area for picnic.
Lily Errante — Google review
Such a nice day to visit the waterfall here. Air is crisp, wild flowers are happily blooming, big stream after some rainy days, and fab view of Perth. Very accessible trails for all family members.
May Swen — Google review
Family hiking and loved it. Not too crowded, and superb views await at the top of the pink trail... We did the purple and pink trails. Waterfalls flowing beautifully and not dried out. Terrain is a bit wet being Autumn, so be wary of where you put your feet as it's slippery. Otherwise, a very nice walk.

A must see if you are in Perth in winter. We had so much rain in the last fortnight and the track was amazing, well maintained and excellent for all ages. What a great Sunday outing.

Lesmurdie Falls offers fantastic views of Perth City as well as boasting fantastic falls with 2 viewing platforms above the water alongside a third on the ground at the foot of the falls.
There is also some fantastic picnic spots close to the falls.
Lake Leschenaultia is a former railway reservoir transformed into a stunning recreational lake, offering a range of activities for visitors. Surrounded by national parks and state forests, including the historic John Forrest National Park, it's an ideal spot for nature lovers. Families can enjoy picnics by the tranquil lake and take advantage of excellent amenities. The crystal-clear waters provide a serene setting for swimming and kayaking, with kayak rentals available for those seeking adventure on the water.
One of Perth's gems for a great day out. Well maintained and shady picnic areas near the lake are a delight.

With plenty of parking and a grass area, pack a picnic and head to Lake Leschenaultia. Good spot for family and friends get together, especially if you have children. There is a barrier in place for swimmers. Outside the barrier seen paddlers on paddle boards and kayaking.

We had the most wonderful time camping with friends. Lake Leschenaultia. It is so convenient when going from Perth for a quick weekend away if you do not want to travel too far. Once you are there it will feel like you are miles from anywhere. We all just felt the relaxation pour over us.

This location was an incredible experience for both our family and friends. We enjoyed an entire day immersed in activities. This is an ideal spot for camping. The kids had a blast swimming, and the highlight was renting a kayak. 30-minute or 1-hour sessions priced at $16 and $26 respectively. Needless to say, we're looking forward to making this a frequent destination.

Beyond beautiful. Great place for a quick dip, to go kayaking, just for a nice walk or even a bike ride! Outdoor BBQ's available, a playground for the kiddos, what more could you want?
Melissa Hague (Ginge) — Google review
Lovely place for a family day out. Pack a picnic or usethe BBQ provided there ( do get busy so may have to wait your turn) dedicated swim area in the fresh water lake but has sand like a beach to enter. Playground is there but the old cafe isn't open anymore so make sure you take own food and drinks. Limited seating is there so go early or take chairs ect.

Our family recently had the pleasure of spending a delightful day at Lake Leschenaultia, and we can't stop raving about this hidden gem in WA. From the tranquil lake to the excellent amenities, Lake Leschenaultia proved to be a fantastic destination for a family outing.
The star of the show was undoubtedly Lake Leschenaultia itself. The crystal-clear waters created a serene ambiance, and we spent quality time swimming and enjoying the breathtaking natural surroundings. The lake's family-friendly atmosphere made it an ideal spot for both relaxation and recreation.
The camping facilities at Lake Leschenaultia were top-notch. The spacious and well-maintained camping areas provided a comfortable retreat, and we were impressed by the cleanliness of the amenities. The proximity to facilities such as toilets and showers added to the overall convenience of our camping experience.
Parking at Lake Leschenaultia was hassle-free and well-organized. The ample parking space made it easy for us to unload our belongings and set up for the day. It's evident that the organizers have taken care to ensure that visitors have a seamless experience from the moment they arrive.
The bathing facilities by the lake were a welcome addition. Clean and well-maintained, these facilities enhanced our overall comfort during our visit. The thoughtful amenities underscored the dedication of the management to providing visitors with a positive and enjoyable experience.
In summary, Lake Leschenaultia is a true gem in WA 6556, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty and excellent amenities. Whether you're seeking a relaxing day by the lake or a camping adventure, Lake Leschenaultia has it all. Our family had an unforgettable experience, and we highly recommend Lake Leschenaultia to anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway. We can't wait to return to this little slice of paradise!

Lake Leschenaultia is such a great place with lots of activity options.
Come for a bbq, swim in the dam, kayaking, walking/hiking and mountain biking. There is plenty of space for the whole family to come down for a bbq and pretty alright public toilet.
We came for the mountain biking this time. You can ride around the driving as an introduction to riding and the head over to the actual trails. They are green and blue tracks that are all pretty fun. Make sure to ride to your ability.
Rockingham Beach is a picturesque and tranquil beach located in the coastal town of Rockingham. The clear waters, white sand, and lush landscaping make it a great spot for swimming, as well as sunbathing and relaxing. There are also plenty of amenities available including toilets, changing facilities, cafes and playgrounds.
Rockingham beaches are so underrated!!
Stunning coloured, clear and calm waters. We even had two dolphins swimming around us for about half an hour! They weren’t bothered by any of us - they were just doing their thing, rounding up their lunch!
(Plenty of bait fish, flathead and even sea mullet in the shallows).
Big long jetty you can walk out and jump off if you wish. The added bonus of a walkway from out deep so you don’t have to swim back to shore to get back up again.
Pontoon to swim to just past the drop-off. Kids loved it!

Love this beach in winter and the summer. The kids love being here. And it's a nice calm beach for kids to swim at.

Lovely space, very relaxing and nice environment :) love the walk along the beach.
redloop82 — Google review
It was quite a nice and very long beach to stroll around. We started around the pier and walked through Churchill Park and back along the beach. The sand was quite fine so it was nice to walk along it. The views of the sea were interesting since it looked like a port area with plenty of large ships and cranes. The beach was quite clean so it was quite pleasant. It was surprising to see a yacht on shore and it looked like it had shipwrecked there. It was something you don't see every day.
There were also a few newish looking developments on the edge of the beach to sit and sunbathe or play on the play area on the Boardwalk/Pier side of the beach.
Benedict Uy — Google review
A beautiful family beach. There are extensive parks overlooking the ocean, providing shaded areas for picnics, along with a few bbq's and picnic tables. There are a number of play grounds for the little ones, a couple of toliet blocks, lots of parking and across the road from the beach there are several different restaurants and cafes including the classic fish and chip shop and a lolly shop for the kids. There's pathways all along the edge of the park over looking the beach, perfect for taking a stroll with the pram or a run with your dog. The beach itself is gorgeous white sand and the water is fairly shallow for some way, so it's wonderful for young children. I do recommend bringing some sort of sun shade if you intend to sit on the beach for any length of time as there's no shade structures available.
Tammy Wormall — Google review
Plenty of parking lots, still clean, shady, beautiful, Shallow waters for a long way - perfect for bubs and toddlers - much better than any other beach in Perth for beginner SUPs too, plenty of showers, toilets, pram and wheelchair friendly, restaurants/cafes/fish n chips and icecream.
Even better at sunset when quieter. Weekend mornings best to come early if you need to book a bbq or gazebo. Popular for parties hangouts.
The only thing that needs improving is a water bottle refill station at the Ship park end (there is one nearer jetty), as the newfangled water fountains are just awful for filling bottles with, even tho they look sleek.
Isobel Chong — Google review
Me and my friends had a chill day at here. It was beautiful and so relax. You could take a nap besides the beach. One day we got to see the jellyfish and manta ray swim past too which was amazing.

Place is beautiful. You can eat with your family or group of friends here. You can grill, or have barbeque, can swim in the beach. Enjoyed the view it's very relaxing. Sunset is breathtaking.

Absolutely hands down the best foreshore in Perth, in all honesty one of the best spots in the world.
Come down and have a lazy stroll on the beach relax and let the kids swim in the knee high water. Have a bite to eat at some great restaurants and watch the sun set and listen to the birds. Plenty of green grass and lovely trees. Long walking trails, good people mainly families.
Jayson Francis — Google review
Went to go to the Omeo wreck but couldn't find a parking spot. So after driving around for what seemed forever, we decided to take the kids to the beach, and omg what a fantastic day we had. Loved being able to get a park, quick walk to beach and we enjoyed our canoeing, surfing and met friends. Was the best day for us all. We will be definitely back.
Rebecca Hobbs — Google review
Gently shelving sandy beach perfect for children, a pier for fishing or jumping off into deep water and cafes with colourful sun shades make this a really attractive beach. Plenty of sitting areas if you just want to stop and gaze out to sea.
Janine Domaille — Google review
Love this beach!
Every time I come here there's a new addition, I haven't been in a while so I was happy to see the pontoons way out deep but still an easy swim as my 10 year old made the distance with only a little bit of help.
The beach is lovely and clean, there's some shade up on the grass but communal shade down on the sand would be a nice addition as it's easy to spend the entire day here.
The water stays shallow for a long time and the waves are minimal, there's no rocks, but there are a few jellyfish. Out of a crowd of 10 people, 2 of them got stung. So not many, but still present.
Heaps of places to eat within a two minute walk across the road. The fish and chip place was a little lacking in flavour, Nick's place is the best if you're looking for a kebab. Baskin Robbins is always packed with people but they get the ice creams out quick. And the kids love the big playground at the end of the day when we're done swimming.
The bus runs late, 8:52pm was the last bus on a Saturday so we didn't have to worry about leaving early.
Probably my favourite beach in Perth.

The Community Festival was ok I liked the enormous lulu characters and I liked the Y
outh music competition, and the judges were fair. The stage Sound man was terrible. He could have made a difference to the young musicans 3 minutes of fame, and he really needed a second person to assist him. I was a bit annoyed at parents not controlling their kids Numerous times kids aged around 5 to 10 year olds were bad, there were some that were trying to take the money out of the unattended gold coin tub numerous times, throwing frisbees at the stage at the TV monitor , throwing their balls around at the table, hitting us with them, I told them off of course, forcing some oler people shift tables, and their parents were watching.. Wow! Most food trucks were expensive, but that's up to you.

Favourite spot to be on days off. Had a picnic with the family and kids love the water. Fish and chips for lunch along with our own snacks. Lots of space to lay your mats or picnic chairs. Those visiting Rockingham, ought to spend a day at this beach. Plenty of cafes and restos for you to choose from. For halal food, there is a kebab store nearby too!

Penguin Island is a nature lovers haven and showcase of natural wonders. The island features little penguins, pelicans, dolphins and other animals while being located south of Perth.
A perfect spot for day trip. Short ferry ride to the island with a nice picnic area. Swimming, snorkeling, fishing, relaxing and there is a 30 mins guided tour. Clean toilets but no rubbish bins on the island. There is also a e-locker ($8 for medium or $12 for large).
Don Yeh — Google review
Canoeing to the Penguin island felt like a nice little adventure for us. We've been guided by Rivergod to do canoeing from Sealion island to Penguin island. It was on December, not too hot and a bit windy. It was a perfect day for us as the guide gave us all the information about the island and the animals there. I would recommend to get yourself a guide if you want to go with your family. Otherwise, visiting by yourself and relax will be fun too.
Kagumi Parasya — Google review
A bit of a con really. You’d expect to see Penguins on an island called penguin island right? Apparently not as you’ve virtually no chance of seeing any……in the wild anyway. Had a good boat tour and the guide was excellent but seamed a little embarrassed when I questioned her about the complete absence of penguins.
Dominic Patton — Google review
Decided to not take the ferry, and had a very fun walk over through the ocean. Make sure to plan ahead and check the tide as it was around chest height. Unfortunately, I recommend people to not visit the island as the population of penguins has dropped from 2,000 to under 200 in just the last couple years due to tourism. Staff there were upset that conservation efforts weren’t started sooner. The island was full of birds, but I didn’t see any penguins. This time of year is also nesting season which can cause stress to the birds.

There is no penguins to see here so if you come looking for penguins you are gonna be disappointed however it has very nice views and other wildlife to enjoy, a pity our cruise was cancelled was really looking forward to that

Nice destination for a day trip, swimming, hiking with kids, tips: avoid seagulls nests and must not miss the last ferry from the island :)
Sanjib Roy — Google review
Husband and I paid $25 each for a five minute ferry ride to Penguin Island and didn't see a single penguin. I went to this island many years ago and saw some penguins in their burrows and in the Discovery Centre. But with the Discovery Centre now closed and the penguins out fishing during the day, we were very disappointed that we could not show our toddler any penguins at all. I think that it is very rude to charge people $25 for a trip to an island where they know that we won't see any penguins. I think it would be better if they just closed the island completely - let the penguins be in their natural habitat without the tourists, and stop ripping customers off.
Katrina C. — Google review
No there is no more penguins, doesn’t not worth the tickets only if you want more sea gulls

Visited to go snorkelling 🤿
Went to the spot recommended and it was so shallow and full of dirt, nothing beautiful to see.
Saw some clear fish which was good, full of birds and their poo, stinky. The team were super friendly and helpful though.
Emily Hibberd — Google review
Should be called smelly seagull Island…
The staff are incredible and the snorkelling is fun, however they definitely do not have penguins hanging out till night time when you’re not allowed to go. I feel they should be more transparent about this, however no one would go if they actually told tourist that they shut the indoor penguin viewing area.
If you want to go to see and smell the seagulls then this is the island for you. If you think you’ll see any penguins then go to Tazzy.

Amazing gem along the WA coast. 6 minutes from Shoalwater, Rockingham.
Swimming, snorkeling, trail walking along pristine beach.
If course watching the penguins in the discovery centre. Sadly their numbers in the wild dwindled from 2000 to 150 & the centre will close mid year. You could walk around the island in one hour.
In summary: Highly recommended.
Ahmed Metwally — Google review
Beautiful island. We saw a few penguins and a sea lion in the wild. Lots of lizards and other bird species breeding on the island.
There is a ferry out to the island, however we did a kayaking day trip with Rivergods kayaking tours to both Penguin and Seal Islands. What an amazing day! Highly recommend seeing the islands this way.

We signed up for the Sea Kayak tour of Penguin and Seal Island and it was such a good experience from start to finish! Jimmy is such a nice person and a great guide. He explained everything so thoroughly so that even as a beginner you could feel safe and understand how to control your kayak, what to do in an emergency etc. We got to see seals, a pod of dolphins swimming close by and got to go snorkelling later on too - with all the gear provided. Jimmy also provided a really yummy lunch for us. Couldn’t fault it - was such a good experience that I highly recommend. Will most likely be back to do a snorkelling tour with them :)

Was awesome. Jimmy was great.
We were lucky to have the tour to ourselves (my sister and I) and he tailored it to us. The brunch was better than expected as well with a lovely, yummy spread.
We were so lucky as dolphins came right up to us!
Just a great day.

Wild sealions, superb snorkelling in a tucked away location, and the kind of up-close views of the islands in Shoalwater Bay that you can only get from a sea kayak. Our knowledgeable guide knew all the best spots and kept us entertained with stories of the elusive pelican colony. This was our Christmas present to our teen/young adult kids this year and was 100% worth it. Especially as it came with a healthy lunch I didn't have to make.

Thank you to Veronika and Jimmy! It was a truly memorable day out at Rockingham. Veronika was so kind to follow up with us on a change of date due to bad weather when we missed the email. Jimmy brought us out to sea and back in one piece! During which he shared with us stories of the islands and the various biodiversity. Up close and personal with the sealions and birds! Well worth!

Could not recommend highly enough! We were lucky enough to be the only two people booked on the tour a couple of weeks ago, and we had the best day! We kayaked to Seal Island and were so excited to have the seals come right up to our kayaks, swimming around us and jumping up out of the water. Magical! We then kayaked around Penguin Island and saw the penguin feeding, which was great. We had a guided walk of the island, seeing beautiful views, learning about the caves and the wildlife. The picnic lunch served for us was delicious and filling. We then had an easy kayak back to our starting point. It was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to WA!!

Had an amazing day, could not recommend this enough! Jimmy provided everything we needed and was extremely considerate and informative. The lunch was well prepared and delicious. The kayaking was very fun and the walking tour was beautiful. You could really tell that Jimmy cares about the area and wildlife. Highly recommend.

we had a great experience with Jimmy taking us around the islands. got lucky and had some separate kayaks stop at Seal Island which got the sea lions interested and had them play around the boats for a while! picnic lunch on Penguin Island was really good! very glad we did this instead of the boat cruise!
Perth Observatory is a non-profit educational center that functions as both a historical research observatory and a working laboratory. It accommodates visitors of all ages and offers various day and night activities, which require pre-booking for Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The guided public tours are impressive, as reported by some visitors who have been there.
Great family outing in the hills. Affordable and enjoyable. Volunteers are very welcoming and full of knowledge and history of the Observatory. Granted 400k per year for the next 4 years, thanks to our State Government, to hopefully inspire students from all over

Went here on New Years Eve. Amazing experience. They have a lot of big telescopes and domes, nice museum and pictures. Highly recommend. Really clear sky’s so great views through the telescopes.

Absolutely loved the Halloween 🎃 star gazing adventure, despite being lightly cloudy we still saw Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus. The volunteer staff were very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Can't wait to use my cloudy night discount for a return visit. Some young kids in my group had audibly awesome night! Thanks to all the volunteers again!!

Awesome place day and night! Interesting museum and shop. We were lucky to be part of a group who camped overnight. Nice walk through area during the day observing the wildflowers and reading the information signs outside the various buildings. At night there is a golf buggy to drive you up to the various observatories. We opted to walk. We got a chance to see Saturn, the moon and various star clusters. It was a full moon which was great but difficult to see some stars as the moon was too bright. The volunteers were very knowledgeable. Afterwards we had a BBQ, great music and sat around a camp fire. Great experience! 👍👍👍

Been twice on night tour, volunteers are friendly and enthusiastic about what they are sharing. Clouded tour and clear sky tour were both really good and worth doing. We went with a 12 yr old, 16 yr old and an 88 yr old and they all had fun. The few ladder steps were still ok for nan as long as we helped guide and support her.

Fantastic experience. We visited and joined the Perth Winter Nights tour. Doors opened at 7 and we could take a look around the museum and gift shop. Tour started at 730 with the volunteer guides walking us through the museum before we headed up to the domes where we viewed several celestial objects..
Really amazing experience.. Look out for the Emu in the sky!
Unfortunately I don't have more pictures.. Would have loved to take some at the domes, but it was dark (can't see stars if it isn't dark!) and the phone light would kill my night vision 😅

I did the day tour here and had a great time! All the volunteers were lovely and our tour guide Patrick was very informative about the history behind the telescopes. Another volunteer Bryn? (forget exact name sorry) showed us the sun through a telescope, which was cool as. I've seen a lot through a telescope in the past but never the sun :) Definitely recommend this place for a visit!

Recently did an evening on the green lecture on Black Holes by Dr Adelle Goodwin. Great evening and a fascinating lecture about these enigmatic celestial objects. Great job by the volunteers to put this together and open the doors on the history of the observatory and the many displays. I learnt something new thank you. If you're looking for something different and curious about our universe try the Perth Observatory a great window to our night sky.

We did the night tour. Little cloudy our night, but the volunteers worked around it. Love the passion of the volunteers. Their museum is great. I loved the old clocks, great history. The precision of these machines is almost inhuman. Picture of the shortt time piece

We had the BEST night here!!! We saw many different types of star, nebulae, the moon... it was absolutely amazing! The staff and volunteers were incredible - very knowledgeable, entertaining, and so passionate about the universe! We will be back for the gas giants tour and Star Wars night FOR SURE. Thank you all so much. You really made it an unforgettable experience.

We were awestruck by the night sky filled with stars visible by the naked eye. It took us to a different realm when looking through the different telescopes. It is heartening to know that the volunteer guide have deep knowledge in astronomy. We also enjoyed buying Perth Observatory souvenirs. We will never get the experience back home.

The Mundaring Weir, constructed in the early 20th century, offers visitors a chance to explore a dam with multiple amenities such as picnic shelters, BBQ grills, and playgrounds. Additionally, interpretive exhibits provide insight into its history. The surrounding area boasts numerous short walking trails and is also the starting point of Australia's famed Bibbulmun Track which stretches all the way to Albany on the south coast.
A project once made fun of now stands as one of the most important places in WA history. When Nature's beauty and man's creativity gets merged, wonders get created .Such a wonder was built between 1898-1903 for the purpose of transporting water to the Easter Goldfields of Kalgoorile.
The dam is now under the Water Corporation of WA and their website provides information about the dam details such as facilities,Opening hours , direction etc.
https://www.watercorporation.com.au/About-us/Visiting-our-dams/Mundaring-Weir
The No1 Pump Station is a great place to learn about the incredible early engineering technology that they had used to pump water nearly 600km from Mundaring Weir to the Goldfields.
This place is really a must see and one of the beautiful places to know more about heritage, to take wonderful pictures of scenery and even spend time with family or friend groups.
https://youtu.be/c3O16ZOH0Eg
The place have picnic areas, public toilets and walking trails.
This project once called as "Scheme Of Madness" was designed by Thomas Crowley Hodgson and was brought to life by an Engineer in Chief C.Y.O'Connor.
At present day the weir supplies water to the Eastern Goldfields and Agricultural region. The walking trail experience throug the Weir , lawns and gardens are really a great experience to get to the historical importance of this place.
The Mundaring Weir now forms a part of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme or The Golden Pipeline.

DOGS ARE PROHIBITED 🚫
Perhaps it should read:
DOGS ARE PROHIBITED
$200 ON THE SPOT FINE.
We would have loved to walk our fur-baby here, but because of the warning sign, my husband sat in the park while I walked across the weir and to other scenic spots.
Sadly, I had to caution a few dog owners who didn’t notice the sign(sic). Perhaps add a $200 fine on the spot and people will notice?
There are several areas you can walk your dogs on leash in the area, not far away. I pointed it out to a lady and she was thankful.
If you walk your dog from the other end of the weir, where there isn’t a warning sign, you could get away with it, because you can access the bridge and get to the main entrance.
Place the same signboards where you are seriously concerned about, dear Shire.
Are you serious about it or not, dear Shire?
Trim the branches over the sign board at the main entrance which is actually blocking part of it.
It's supposedly a high surveillance designation, but apparently dogs being walked across the weir where our drinking water comes from, has gone unnoticed.

The Mundaring dam is a top local attraction and just 15 minutes from the Mundaring town site. There are panoramic photo opportunities during a crossing of the dam wall. On one side is the picturesque reservoir and on the other the heritage pumping station with its tall chimney stack. A less explored area can be discovered at the far end of the dam wall (coming from Mundaring Weir Road). A steepish descent, down a series of steps (with handrail) to the base of the dam wall, leads visitors to the pumping station (100m). A tranquil place surrounds the museum with a few rest benches under some shady trees. There is also an interesting electronic meter that turns over / counts - every time 1000 litres of dam water is used in Kalgoorlie (located nearby the pumping station museum).
The Mundaring Weir park area is extensive and perfect for BBQ's with a number of designated areas complete with stove tops. There is an abundance of majestic trees (many varieties). A natural habitat for birdlife and the perfect place for a relaxing stroll. A few friendly kangaroos are always out and about.

A wonderful place to visit on the Perth Hills, having the state’s one of the most important engineering structures, access to the weir overseeing the idyllic C Y O’ Connor lake, plenty of walk trails and benches through the greenery of wild flowers and trees. Large number of gas top barbecue facilities along with separate toilets for male, female, disabled on both sides (west and east) of the weir. Several water fountains nicely positioned, offering quick rehydration and a splash on the face on a hot day. We were lucky enough to have been greeted by a family of kangaroos in the bush to the east of the rose garden. The viewing area to the south of the C Y O’Connor Memorial offers a splendid view of the both sides of the weir. One caution; be aware of mosquitoes and flies in the afternoon.

A quite and nice place for picnic and walk with family.
This Perth-based park is home to more than 100 koalas and is great place to see them in their natural habitat. In addition, the park also houses talking parrots.
Loved it! Great place to walk around and feed Australian animals! As soon as we got there we saw young emus being fed. We were followed around by peacocks that wanted to be fed and they took the food right out of our hands. None of the animals were overbearing, they mostly let you come to them. All in all a wonderful day out.

Wonderful place with peacocks, emus and birds roaming freely as we walk. Co-existence is something we all can learn here. We all can coexist in the wonderful world without harming each other with peace and harmony. It's a wonderful park with varied species and is a treat for kids and elders both. There is a mini train which takes you around and it's a fun ride not to be missed. Besides Koala, you can see kangaroos, deer and many other species.

Positives
Can see animals really close up
Animals appear to be looked after
Constructive feedback
It would be nice to have a larger fenced off area to eat lunch or have a break. We attended the park on a Saturday and the small area with tables and chairs was full
More shade would be good
Food pellets for the animals would be beneficial rather than popcorn
Much much larger areas for the birds - it was sad to see them unable to fly at all
Negatives
There was unfortunately a dead animal in one of the rear fenced off shelters, some type of large bird
As the animals roam free there is a lot of poop around - recommend wearing appropriate foot wear!

Relatively small park. Some good animals there though some areas of improvement needed, such as the cocktail Aviaries.
$15 per adult. Took us a while to be served and we could have walked through without paying.
Some 🦕 models/statues not meant to be climbed on and some unfenced water, so child supervision is definitely required, but interesting to look at.
Animals are relatively friendly, do not go if you don't like Emus or Peacocks around you.
Engaging for an hour-ish depending on your group.

Please don’t support business that think is acceptable to keep birds forever in cages like this. The material that this cages are made are poor and old, this gets extremely hot!! Like very hot! And the birds can’t go anywhere else. Also, the birds don’t have any room to a little bit of fly. It is heartbreaking.
They have been living in this conditions for over 3 years. Just seating in the hot all day.
Surely a “Wild Park” would have a little bit of money to buy decent cages made by appropriate metal and with physical enrichment? Looks like they just don’t care.

Can be a nice day out for kids, couples and families. $4 for a small pack of animals feed popcorn is a bit expensive, but it goes to maintain the park, so all good.
You get to see koalas, kangaroos, emus, Wombat, Echidnas, crocodiles, Ponies & more.
You probably need to hold tight to kids as emus all over the place moving freely, but they are definitely friendly and not aggressive.
Place looks like it needs more funding for maintenance and upgrading. Hopefully comes from state government and people also continue to visit. It deserves to stay on.
All in all, I liked it.

Had a day out at Cohuna Wildlife Park with my 2 year old grandson. We went on a week day before the school holidays started, so it was fairly quiet, which I was happy for. My grandson loves all animals but finds dinosaurs interesting at the moment.
The dinosaur statues they have in the park are great displays for some of the younger children.
The Wallaby and Kangaroo enclosure is nice to walk through. The park has two crocodiles, which like to laze by the pool in their enclosure. The park also has roaming Emus, which are friendly enough. If you plan on staying for most of the day, make sure you bring your own food.

Took my elderly client here we were both very disappointed the park was dirty, lots of empty enclosures. enclosures were dirty, Cockatoos were in small cages. The lady at the front desk was too busy gas bagging out the back to even worry about us we rang the bell 5 times. Didn't give us any information about the place when we walked in. Only gave 2 star because koalas were the only good thing there.

We stayed three nights [Superior Marina View - Two Bedrooms]. It was reasonably affordable. The room was quite narrow, so we shifted a few things to pop a cot and bassinet in. The windows are double-glazed - we couldn't hear any outside noise once the doors were shut. The room was fitted with an air-conditioning unit, dishwasher, washer and dryer. The apartment is certainly not new, but it was incredibly clean. The balcony is huge considering the size of the inside area. The location is great - a short stroll to the main strip in town and a few steps away from cafes and restaurants. We will certainly consider staying here again. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

A great place to stay that's right in the heart of everything with plenty of food and drink options nearby.
The only issue we had during our stay was the temperature of the bedrooms. The apartment only has one split system air conditioner in the main living area and with the summer heat the cold air only went into the bedroom directly opposite the A/C. The other bedroom further away was very warm & made getting a good nights sleep difficult.
Each room needs either its own split system air-conditioner or a celing fan.

Stayed three nights over the long weekend Feb/Mar 2014 in a two room apartment with marina view. (Single rooms not available.) Price was over $380 a night but that might have been due to long weekend rates.
Nice view from large balcony. Comfortable bed, reasonable bathroom and adequate kitchen facilities with a handful of tea bags and sachets of instant coffee.
Carpet in serious need of replacement - past being able to fix with cleaning. Bedside clock didn't work, wall clock didn't work, TV remote batteries almost dead. Long walk from fume filled underground carpark to our room with luggage a nuisance (which though can't be helped is still worth taking into account).
Being right above pubs, clubs and restaurants, the noise of the "wildlife" lasted long into the night, if not from below from people on other balconies. One could have the balcony door open or some quiet, but not both.
Occasionally fumes from boat engines in the marina also chased us off the balcony.
All that aside, it was in easy walking distant to everything along the Mandurah foreshore, and a good location to visit nearby towns and attractions.
We wouldn't stay there again, but did appreciate the view of the marina - even seeing a dolphin casually searching for food.

NOT worth the money!! NOT family friendly!!!! We have paid $299 p/night for a tired run down room. The carpets are stained, one of the bedrooms blinds don't keep the light out (no good for kids), lifts are slow (one set of buttons don't work in the lift), the living space is tiny!! We paid extra to have the balcony space but that doesn't make up for the tiny interior with oversized furniture that is poorly placed that you are likely to trip on something. To top it off at 6am a neighbouring apartments alarm went off, then midday as we are putting our young kids down for a nap they decided to test the fire alarm of these apartments....then at 7pm as we are putting the kids to bed for the night the fire alarm goes off for a full evacuation! The firemen came and said the alarm was set off because of the restaurant kitchens below the apartments tripping the system, and its a common problem. Seriously regretting spending our money here. Should have used it on an escape to the Crown instead!

This place is in a wonderful position, but unfortunately that also means it is noisy. They have thought of everything in the two bedroom apartments but unfortunately the carpet is so disgustingly stained that it puts a damper on the appearance. Also attention to details should be observed by housekeeping, found a few
small issues with cleaning and they did not leave any coffee for us just tea. My big issue is the bins in the courtyard they should not be there for customers to see and smell.
Like I said amazing views great position just needs a few things tweaked but not somewhere you would go for quiet.

Good solid apartments we've stayed in a few times now. They're close to everything, and our room was clean and neat. Balcony facing the harbour is a great place to soak up the view. It can get a little noisy because of the restaurants/pubs underneath, so we recommend staying on the higher floors if you prefer a quieter stay.

We stayed in the Dolphin Quay apartments , but through Airbnb room 218, at Easter 2024 we were charged $450 per night 4 nights, for this privately owned unit, we had booked out at least 10 other rooms as a group booking each through the Dolphin Quays, average price $185 or night . We also paid $90 cleaning charge.
Well there was lip stick all over 2 glasses, 1 roll of toilet paper in both toilets, no soap or shampoo, 2 squirts of dishwashing liquid,
So just be careful and check your pricing when booking these apartments especially the ones that are privately owned , i spoke to the owner Jose and he said his pricing was the same as the normal room charge. Not true!, never offered a refund of the cleaning cost $90 as we had to wash all the dishes ist, also buy toilet paper. So not a good experience , cheaper at the Perth Casino per night to stay and 10 star in comparison , sadly disappointed . And ripped off. Do your research , should have stayed in the Chalets across the road.

Very picturesque setting with plenty of grassed shady areas to have a picnic lunch would definitely recommend for a low cost family outing. Amenities still being built but there's temporary ones available
The Serpentine National Park is home to the beautiful Serpentine Falls, a popular spot for swimming and picnicking. The falls are located just under an hours drive south of Perth. The park also includes ancient forest and wetland, as well as Western Grey Kangaroos and stunning wildflowers in spring.
The Most wonderful spot for picnic and fresh water swimming. Be mindful of other people and strictly no diving and climbing on the rock.
Safe for all swimmers if you take safety precautions and be careful.
Plenty of walking trials for novice and experienced hikers. It’s a favorite place for family picnic and hiking.
There is entrance fee for adults and closure and non permit if the spot is full. So drive early to make sure you get the chance to experience this stunning natural wonder.

We paid $17 for entrance. It’s $17 per a vehicle. We were met by a friendly lady that explained where we could park and how long the walks took. This is a lovely day out for everyone. There is something for everyone. Prams and wheelchairs are able to get to the falls via a paved footpath. There were a number of people in wheelchairs having picnics on the grass area. There are several other walks, I would not recommend doing these with young/small children. The ground was very slippery due to loose gravel and rocks. Unfortunately a number of little ones fell over. I strongly recommend packing a picnic and enjoying it here. I didn’t and we really wished we had. Take plenty of water. Will definitely do this again.

Beautiful spot. Great hike up to the top. Probably better to go when the rains hit more as the waterfall was quite little.
Kangaroos come right up to you and are so placid. But please do not feed them.

A nice spot to spend relaxing time with your loved one/ones. We went here during our 2 nights stay at Tasman Holiday Park, which only 5 mins away. We didnt plan to swim, just checked on the falls then had a good walk with scenic view and ended up with some ice cream from the ice cream-van near the parking area.

Serpentine Falls Walk Trail at Serpentine National Park is a hidden gem just an hour's drive from Perth. The trail is easily accessible from the carpark and offers a delightful stroll through the natural beauty of Western Australia. The option to venture to the top and admire the cascade from the viewing platform adds an extra layer of adventure to the experience. It's a perfect day trip for anyone looking to escape the city and immerse themselves in nature. Highly recommend!

Beautiful water fall, only a 5 minute walk from the car park. If you want to enjoy the national park make sure to pack hiking gear, a lot of the trails have unsteady ground.
Great place to re centre and relax, some beautiful views too. You can take your car in for $15 or just walk from the gates.

Inside Serpentine Falls Nation Park, about an hours drive south of Perth, Serpentine Falls are one of West Australia's many Falls and well worth a visit to take on the unique beauty of the bushland they are located within. Just a short walk from the near by car park these falls can be viewed from a lower viewing area or you can take the longer walk along the path and trail up to the top and taking views for high up. If you do decide to walk the trail make sure you are wearing good walking shoes and be prepared to walk up hill. I'd also strongly advise you to have water with you too. I feel the walk is definitely worth the views. Go early and take you time, stop and rest at the top to enjoy the scenery.

Great place to visit only 45 minutes from Perth BBQ area, great walks, and we were watching a heron fishing at the waterfalls. Very tame kangaroos only negative point massive stainless steel around falls does not blend in to environment could be done better, something more natural and blending in to the beautiful environment……

Such a beautiful spot, definitely worth a visit. Try to get there early, as it gets very busy after 10am. Next time I'll take my bathers and have a swim. $17 entrance fee.

Well maintained with BBQ picnic ground and clean toilets. The Fall is not stunning but dam water is clean and is suitable for swimming. Like the Big Old Trees tho

The falls and swimming area do look amazing. However on the day we went there was no swimming allowed, this is due to the amoeba meningitis in the water when it gets over a certain temperature. Also the frustrating thing is we still felt we had to pay $17 for entry, when swimming isn’t available I don’t feel there is much else to see in the park, especially when it’s so hot, so wish we hadn’t made the journey from Perth and wasted our $17.

Considering you have to pay 17$ to get in with your car it was not really worth it. Nice to see some kangaroos around the picnic area but the falls itself didn't impress me a lot, mainly a hangout spot for the locals it seemed.

A nice hike, if you are around Perth and looking for an outdoor activity! Just make sure to respect the timing of the closing park!

An hour trip from Perth, this spot will definitely astonish you with plenty of space for carpark inc. spots for picnic/BBQ or a day trip to enjoy one or two trials leading right into the national park.
We were unfortunate as the rain got in before we did, ruining our day. Nonetheless, we did manage to capture some memories and cherish the nature.
Fees apply for entry, though well worth the effort 👌
Zoo & animal sanctuary offering hands-on encounters with its residents.
This place has lots of different Australian wildlife but mostly birds in aviaries. A great place for young kids with some areas to pet and feed the animals. This is the first place I've seen a wombat as they are never seen at Perth zoo. The zoo is well maintained and kept quite clean too.

We had a great day here, friendly staff and friendly animals.
It's not a fancy place if that's what your looking for buts it's got a fantastic selection of birds, animals, insects, etc for the price it's worth it. Got to hold a snake and a lizard at no extra charge. The animal handler was so lovely and full of information. Our favourite was the walk through kookaburras enclosure, what beautiful birds they are.
Finished with an icecream and buying a soft toy from the huge selection in store again at a good price. Of course it was a kookaburra 🥰 make sure you go when it's not to sunny so the animals are out, thanks for a great day.

Such an amazing zoo!! The amount of hands on experience they offer, the variety of animals and the time that all staff take to talk with you is incredible!
The personalised care all the keepers so clearly have for the animals and educating others is amazing!
Shoutout to keeper Alex, for taking his time to chat with us about the squirrel gliders and other animals around the zoo. His passion for all the animals within the zoo really shows. Highly recommend going for a day out to Redz zoo!

We came here on a Friday, and there are so many animals to see! They’re well taken care of and the keepers (specifically Alex) are extremely knowledgeable and will answer any questions in detail. We had a great time with 3 animal encounters. Very friendly, just bring your own lunch 😊

We had a wonderful time here on boxing day. It was very hot but we were well prepared for the heat and were offered an icy treat whilst we walked through. I would like to especially mention Lily who was so attentive to us when we walked in and was so patient with the 3 children we had, she let each of us hold a snake and then also brought out a lizard. She was so lovely and kind and really gave the children a great experience before we had even entered the animals. We did a walk through and fed some animals the goats especially were a hoot.

Took our 17mth old Grandson here this morning.
Admission charge i considered to be a bit steep at $23 per Adult.
A variety of wildlife to be seen, flying foxes, Tasmania Tiger, wallabies etc
Including a patting pen to feed and pat the Kangaroos.
Walk in caged area's also, to interact with bird life etc.
Snacks, drinks and Icecream available.
Seating / Tables throughout in designated area's.
Hand sanitisers and Aerogard available at entrance.
Or take your fly veil / swatter, flies were over friendly today.

The male black cockatoo in the bird aviary was very tame and friendly. He flew over and landed on my sons shoulder and stayed there for ages. My son loved it, was a great experience. We also did the birds of the night encounter and we got to hand feed the owls and get close up photos with them. They also had a employee with a snake and a lizard that you can pet and hold. The only thing that would improve the experience is if they had more food available so you can have lunch there. At the moment they have icecream and chips and softdrink. A coffee machine would be great. They have free coffee but I found the unhomoginised milk didn't mix well. Will definitely go back again.

Great variety of Australian animals from Tasmanian Devils to colourful birds. Lots of hands on experiences.

The conservation park is such a good experience overall, it is a wonderful place to spend time, whether it's for a day out with family, a peaceful picnic, or simply to immerse oneself in nature's beauty and sounds. The park also has lots of spots to sit and take in the wildlife at your own pace. The park is nice and cosy with open spaces for many free roaming animals like the kangaroos, wallabies, peacock and a variety of birds. Make sure to catch some of the keeper talks they were a really interesting insight into the animals natural history. This centre serves to protect endangered and vulnerable species and promote education and awareness. We went on a hot day, but there is a good deal of shade, so we did not let that deter us from exploring the whole park. Ranger Red is a larger than life naturalist was great talking to him,

Better experience than any zoo I've been to. For such an underspoken zoo, it's extremely dense with a lot to do. We spent too much time in the walk in aviary alone, the birds are very very friendly and chipper.
We spent time here not due to a big and expensive park, but just because there is that much to do. Not to underplay the lack of other facilities; the bathroom and catering is lacking, but the zoo itself is great.

It was a really great experience being able to see alot of Australian native animals, especially for the price.

We had so much fun on a family outing here! Great variety of animals, birds, and reptiles, but what made the day amazing was talking to the zookeepers and learning about the animals and their care. Everyone was so informative and passionate about the animals!
We booked the koala experience and I was interested in the wombat experience too but learned the wombat booking is only available to book the day before and happens first thing in the morning! Highly recommend, so memorable and fun.

Highly recommend for toddlers and young kids! The animal encounters were amazing! Highlights were feeding the birds 🐦🕊️ and holding the snake 🐍..very cool! Kangaroos 🦘 were actually eating food too and active for once! Super friendly staff 🙂 easy to get around, not too much walking and all the enclosures are close by, not spread out too much.
Pathways are a bit narrow so beach wagons are a bit tricky to manuver. No onsite cafe (just icecream and drinks fridge).

What an awesome zoo. Very natural and all the animals looked well looked after. Great price and great family experience.
Had an amazing dinner in the club car tonight. Service was very prompt and volunteer staff were absolutely friendly.
Food was so delicious I polished the apple crumble then realized I forgot to take a photo. Complimentary port (quite tasty) with the cheese platter was the cream on the top.
Thanks Hotham Railway for an unforgettable evening.

Wasn't overly exciting experience. Caught Forrest Train. My 5 year old son was excited for first 20min. It was a 2 hour ride through bush with a 20min stop for a bush walk. One of the most underwhelming experiences I have ever had. And the diesel fumes had a few watery eyes and a few noses being covered. Was told to go back when fire ban was over and ride the steam train because much better.
Mick Inferrera — Google review
I wouldn't recommend this.
OK let's start from the beginning.
The seats are quite small and uncomfortable, and because they pack the trains you'll be pretty squashed in.
They could do with some cushions or something because you'll feel every single bump.
It's a diesel train.....
It's not environmentally friendly and it smokes.... A lot.
You'll be breathing fumes the entire trip.
There were quite a few nauseus people on the train, including myself.
I really hope they get an electric version at some point.
Or at least sort out the exhaust system.
We did the Forest Train with the walk at the end,
The walk at the end is very rushed, so you don't actually have time to enjoy it.
They could do with putting some tables and chairs in this spot too for the elderly,
It's pet friendly which is nice, but because the train gets packed your pooch won't have a lot of room, our dog was also not feeling great with the fumes. Poor bugger.
If I was a tourist I'd probably do it to say I've done it, but I wouldn't recommend this to any locals.
Maybe in spring when the wildflowers are out? But the rest of the year there isn't much to see.
Tin Ship (Tinny) — Google review
A great experience for kids and the whole family. Tickets for the train ride can be purchased online or on the day itself before departure. Cafe is available. The whole place is spacious, perfect for kids to run around.

Lovely old timey feel, amazing views, and generally a lovely trip. However, allocated seating would have been better for the 40 dollars per person admission, I felt like we were shoved on a poverty bus and left to find our own seats. I went for the visit on my birthday and would have liked to sit with my husband instead, were rows apart.

We had a great time on the steam train. I thought my children would get bored being on the train for 2 hours, but they loved just staring out the window and waving to people we passed by.

Wonderful experience and great service, enjoyed the ride with family and kids. You can bring your pets (on leash). There is optional hiking for about 20 mins so consider dressing like that if you want to do that adventure. Every time you hear train horn that means something and you better look a round to see.
The only negative I would mention was poor public adress system as the one in train doesn't work and the driver was holding a handheld microphonic speaker which wasn't enough to hear.

It was a 2hours ride with an amazing view of the landscape. The steam train departs and arrive to the station on time. The staff are super friendly and they reassure the passengers that everything is going to be okay. There is a snack shop on board the train where you can get chips, beer and some beverages on board. Very beautiful experience and this is our 2nd time here. Its amazing.

It was very stressful as it took a long time to board, it was also very crowded in the train itself. I was not able to sit with my family so all the fun was not pleasant. The seats were also small and very uncomfortable. It was very loud and also had an unpleasant squeaking sound!
Very nice setup, friendly staff and all the amenities for exploring the area.

So happy to have visited this are and the Dam a few Kms away from here. We Picnicked at the Dam and were very happy to visit this area with its railway museum. The staff in the little stores and station were most helpful. The toilet area here was kept clean. A plus point for an electric vehicle owner is there is one charging point. We hadn't found any emu's, kangaroos, long neck tortoise or koalas so we improvised at the Dam picnic area. (See my picture)

I am riding the Munda Biddi and posted my food here. Was calling to find out about accommodation and it turns out the place had a fire next door so closed at 1 but Kellie was happy to return to give me my parcel and even sold me a gas canister for which she had to open the till. She had also sent me a text message of accommodation options. When I left the centre she let me out of the closest door to point out the hotel and held the tapes up for me to get under. Hard to find better service than that A+

We skipped the green course and completed the blue and red before venturing onto the extreme black! That one was challenging but a lot of fun.
It was absolutely pouring rain when we did this and still had a lot of fun so don't let the weather put you off.
Would definitely visit again and hopefully soon!

We had our 3 and 6 year old for their junior challenge. The obstacles are set realistically for my children and both had great fun that day. For a price you can stay for 2 hours and unlimited times of attempt.
The staff that assisted with us is absolutely friendly and amazing, putting the harness on my 3 year old were a little anxious but he was very good to interact with my boys and make them feel very comfortable.
We will return with adults next time as we challenge ourselves with the adult obstacles.
The only lost of star is early in the morning the toilet stinks with urine around the bowl and no toilet roll. Otherwise it was rather perfect!

This was our first time at any tree top climb and we were unsure what to expect.
But the whole experience was fantastic, the climbing had great variation of challenges from fun to extreme and pushing the limits
We had two kids that both did varying levels of difficulty.
The set up meant that we didn’t need to worry about when the eldest when he took off once confident with the harness system, as you can not be exposed to a fall.
Our 13yr was old completed the extreme course, being 13 gave the advantage as it was far more difficult than it looked.
All of Staff were super friendly, and were always around if anyone needed assistance.
The whole set up was far more scenic than expected, the courses left the bush in a natural state, so gave a true bush experience
I have convinced my kids to do this again, as I didn’t get to do all the climbs, mainly because we did some twice as were fun
Highly recommended experience for the family.
The photos do not do the course justice or really show the height, but give some idea

The location and crew are great! So are the different tracks. Not enough time, managed only 2 tracks, 2.5 hours, because of supervising the younger kids. Family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids 21, 11 and 5. Price is a bit high, 270 AUD...

Such a good experience for adults and kids. Only two of us, in our 30s and had heaps of fun! Red to black routes are the most challangeing and the ultimate black was genuinely hard and a good challange. Monkey bars 20m up!
The routes, infrastructure, obstacles, equipment and staff were all 5 star...everything was top notch and felt super safe. Instructors did an excellent job at clearly communicating eveything and making you feel welcome. Sorry I have forgot the names but 08th April 2022 11am you know who you are.
Ohh it's hard to plan this but if you are behind 5 kids on a red run it may take a while waiting so try plan your time and routes if you can.
Some pointers. You can't take anything up with you for health and safety like phones etc as they would be a distraction or drop hazard, on-site lockers are provided to store valuables. No food on site. Get there at minimum 15min early. We had plenty of time to do 4-5 routes. You do need some strength to complete the courses, it can be hard work!
I don't write heaps of reviews but this place was 5 star.

Friendly staff and attentive to make sure we know how to maneuver around.
Done with 11yo boy and 13 yo girl, we gone through the basic green and blue track, and also also a blue track filled with almost 7-8 ziplines. Making one feel like being a tarzan.
Seeing time almost up so wanted to try the Black track but staff recommended me to go with the red since it was my first time. Red was kind of tricky as compared to previous 2 colours, lucky i did not choose the black.
Overall experience was great, first of a kind for me.

Well worth the journey, the kids had a great time on the junior course. It was a real confidence boost as they got to grips with the different elements and by the third go around, could manage it all themselves (ages 5 & 6).
Update: 6 years later the kids are 11 & 12, had a brilliant time, managed their first red course and we all loved the blue run that was zip line after zip line. Even on a warm day (32) it was nice and cool in the trees, shady with a light breeze. The staff were very friendly again, genuinely nice, helped the kids relax. The 2.5 hours went so quick, was glad we brought some sandwiches. Was thinking about camping here there's some nice looking sites next to here. But even with the 1.5 hour drive from Perth and back, we thought it was well worth it.

Had a wonderful time with my 8 year old daughter. Unfortunately it was a very hot day so we did not stay as long as anticipated but the staff were wonderful by allowing us extended breaks (and therefore extended time on our booking if we needed it). Our trainer was Shaun and he was very welcoming and clear in his instructions, providing us with all the safety details and skills we needed to have a safe and fulfilling experience. The courses themselves are fun and challenging; it is clear safety is a top priority ensuring we were anchored to a rope at all times. We will definitely be back when it is much cooler to finish off the courses we didn't get around to. Highly recommend this experience.

Excellent experience to see local endangered and regionally extant marsupials! The guides are super knowledgeable and the pace of tour is perfect for education and immersing in their behavior. Super cute little mammals!
Matt Daw — Google review
Amazing experience! The lady who ran it was fantastic... she was so informative, so passionate and answered all my questions. Meeting the animals was so so fun, the bilbies jumping after us were a highlight! I would recommend this experience whole heartedly to anyone visiting the area!
The only problem for us was the children on the tour being so loud and disruptive, meaning we couldn't hear the presentation at the beginning and worse, they scared off the animals ☹️ The lady running the tour did a fantastic job of 'parenting' the children kindly but firmly whilst the parents did nothing, even when a child threw a stick at an animal! Please don't bring your children unless they are polite, respectful of nature and can be quiet!

It was amazing. Our guide was lovely and knowledgeable. We got to see so many cool animals even though it had rained a little.

Loved the tour. Knowledgeable guide & beautiful setting for getting a peek at some wonderful nocturnal animals.
If you have young children & on the night they're not happy, please don't bring them. The cries are enough to scare or keep the animals away. Thankfully we were in different group but sorry for those who weren't.

We absolutely loved this nocturnal tour were we got to see endangered native Australian wildlife in a natural setting. Incredible the work they are doing to rehabilitate and restock native animals.
christian howard — Google review
Sensational experience. A splendid chance to see the native australian noctural marsupials feeding which is otherwise almost impossible to see. They have two large enclosed areas that are filled with a variety of marsupials which are fed during the nocturnal tour. It is a very nice sight to watch them feed and hop around. You will be very close to the animals and they will be observed under torch light. Not good for infants as staying quiet during the tour is essential. A good weekend tour from Perth

Excellent experience. Learnt so much and was amazing to see Malas, Woylies, Boodies, Quendas and a Bilby in real life! A really fun night and well worth it!
Quick stopover on our way to the airport in Perth. Very lovely place to take a break. They make fantastic food! We had the American burger and the Thai salad. Both surprisingly good and of great quality.
Very spacious grounds to take your break and relax. Great and quick service overall. Loved it here.

We stopped here on the way to Albany and on the way back, along with many others getting away during the Christmas holidays. Despite being so busy the food was delivered quickly and they also have an online menu so you can order without having to line up. We ordered a burger, a regular sandwich, fish and a brisket reuben sandwich - the burger, sandwich and fish were all nice but the brisket Reuben was a bit dry. I’m sure the kitchen staff had their work cut out for them over this busy period though! There are nice facilities, including a lawn and sand pit for the kids, so it’s a great place to stop for lunch.

A welcome stop on the route between Perth and the South Coast. Large location with restaurant/cafe and shops selling local and other handicraft. Kids burgers were very ordinary. Ruben was fantastic, so too the breakfast wrap. Was crowded and warm inside (late December). Service friendly but somewhat slow. Somewhat expensive (though generally good portion sizes).

Very enjoyable lunch and next time I will tap and order my meal! The Thai Beef Salad was delicious and filling. They have vegetarian option like vegetarian burgers and a vegetable slice. Good service and friendly, helpful staff.

We made a stop for lunch at this place on our drive back to Perth. I was informed the pies here are really good and was looking forward to tasting them. Since it was a national holiday, the place was already full with hungry customers when we pulled in. We queue to place our order and the food arrived not long after that. We can see that the number of pies in the display counter were diminishing rapidly and wondered if we will get to sample any. We ordered the chicken and leek pie and I quite like it. I also had the classic BLT sandwich and find the bacon was generously provided. There are a lot of other shops here as well such as a clothing store, a shoe store and a shop selling souvenirs. Customers can also choose to sit outside and there is a children's playpen as well.

We enjoyed the pies and sausage rolls from the ww cafe. Their service is quick. Have lots of seating area and clean toilets. A few shops to look around in the building and I'm glad we stopped by this place to stretch our legs.

Absolutely amazing place, with friendly service, great atmosphere, good quality cost efficient food + coffee. The cafe also caters to EV users with 3 x 250kw TESLA Superchargers that are all CCS1 type chargers but can be easily accessed with a subscription if you download the Tesla app! Bring your adapters for the highest charging speeds you’ll get in the area!

This is a coffee shop with many things and surprisingly they roasted coffee beans right in their store.
There are many’s choices on the menu and specials . We bought one bag of beans and a cup of flat white.
The coffee is good and they have special coffee menus quite interesting.
Highly recommended this coffee!

The area is very well cleaned and maintained, the America and BLT sandwiches are delicious, the downfall was the chips, the taste and texture was not nice but was hot on arrival. The venue itself was quite warm at the time of the visit, there was no air being circulated or air-conditioning. The ice coffee looked amazing and the dishes handed out were well presented and the staff were friendly at the tills and service when receiving the food.

Stopped in for a coffee while driving to Perth. Big place with lots of little shops inside. They were closing when we got there so didn’t get to see the full selection of things. Overall seems like a nice place to stop. They have a drive thru for coffee which is nice and a little play area in the back so you can let the kids play for a bit while the parent take a break.
Very nice and green park with a small lake and new big playground.
The big Ram is impressive.

What can you say, the ram is big, fluffy, and impressive. Worth the stop if you're driving through town.

Quite possibly the biggest ram you will ever see. Trust me. It's big.
With nothing else to see in Wagin you won't need to be here long.

Great place to stop for a break, there is plenty of parking, well maintained toilets and a new playground in the parkland.
There's a big lake with some BIG koi fish, but the main attraction is the giant ram, he's very well maintained and huge!

A great place to spend a couple of hours. This is a fascinating history of the local farming community. The displays are really well done and arranged by topic context in this free museum. An unexpected treat.

It's a good place to stop by and relax. We came on a public holiday (Queen's Birthday), it was not busy, and everything was open. There's an outdoor rose maze garden, a gift shop, cafe, and museum.

I've been wanting to stop here and take my time for years, but am always so rushed. This place is just beautiful. Local history covering yesteryear, shearing, flora, fauna plus the visitor centre, Cafe next door. A gorgeous display of freshly picked (with pickers license) wildflowers and native orchids that smelled divine. A really interesting stop and browse and well worth it.

It was an unexpected stop as we travelled from Albany to Perth. But it gave our journey home an extra experience which we greatly appreciated - it is a special place which we intend to come back to and spend more time there in order to do it justice 🙂

Very insightful museum. Particularly liked the maze outside, which showcases the stories of three women from Kojonup, a Noongar, an English, and an Italian. Stories of mistrust and segregation.

The Kodja place is an absolute must visit! It acknowledges and shares the important stories, history and culture of local Noongar people. Displays are educational and interactive to keep children engaged. Staff are so amazingly welcoming and helpful too.

We were looking for somewhere to lunch and had Gilbert's recommended by locals in the Porongarups. Almost didn't do the extra 15 minute drive north of Mt Barker. But the five of us were very delighted by the wines and the lovely tasting board of local products. Thoroughly recommend stopping off for lunch there, do some wine tasting and head off with a couple of wines under your arm.

One of the best wineries in Australia. The Riesling and Shiraz are absolutely incredible. Definitely worth driving here to sample not only the wine but food and the warm and friendly hospitality.
Nick Hodge — Google review
On a recent trip to the area we visited on a quiet Monday for lunch - Clinton offered the best cellar door experience of all our Great Southern venues that we visited. His knowledge and enthusiasm to discuss the history of their family winery is great, and that's exactly why cellar door visits are so important to the local wine industry. Highly recommend the '19 Cabernet and their excellent Rieslings. Nice food too!

We must have gone on a really ‘bad’ day. The food was probably the lowest quality we’ve had anywhere. Dry chicken and a few pieces of sweet potato on a bed of greens. A lack of creativity and quality left us feeling ripped off. I’d be embarrassed to serve the food to anyone in my own kitchen.
We note that 86+ of the reviews are over two years old with many 5,6 years!! If you doubt my review and that’s what this resource is here for, go there yourself and find out. The place needs an intervention. Perhaps this will prompt one. We had visited before, years ago, and it’s gone way downhill from then.
If you provide a straw that is shorter than a glass, imagine what the food is like!
We’ve eaten in many establishments all over the country and the world. Still the worst we have experienced.

Fun inexpensive place to pet a range of cute animals. The boisterous goats jumping up on stuff are the most fun. But they are very boisterous. And for the less adventurous there are plenty of other gentler animals to pet in other seperate pens.
Kai McKenna — Google review
Such an amazing place!! So, so interactive and all the animals were super friendly and really well taken care of!! HOWEVER, I do have one concern: the guinea pigs. there are so, so many guinea pigs in one cage that keep breeding and don’t look too healthy. the girls (especially the pregnant ones) seem super stressed, could be fixed by separating boys and girls 🤷♀️ 🤷♀️ hope they fix this soon. other than that, everything was super great and it’s a place for everyone who loves animals!!

The only downfall was the ferrets in the box, visually it wasn't nice seeing one of them biting the back of the necks of other ferrets. A farm hand would have been nice to address this too at the time. Baby Joey's in the cafe area available to hold.
Cute little goats 👌🏽😍

Denmark Cuddle Animal Farm is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the picturesque Danish countryside, and my recent visit left me with unforgettable memories of a day well spent. This charming animal sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of adorable animals while hand-feeding them, making it a must-visit for animal lovers of all ages.
From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the farm's tranquil atmosphere. Surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery, Denmark Cuddle Animal Farm provides a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. It's the perfect place to unwind and connect with nature.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the chance to hand-feed the animals. The farm is home to a diverse collection of creatures, including friendly goats, curious sheep, and even a few mischievous ponies. Armed with a bucket of specially prepared animal feed, I set off on a delightful adventure of interaction and bonding.
Approaching the animals, I was amazed at how gentle and approachable they were. With a little patience and a lot of love, I found myself making new furry and feathered friends. The feeling of a goat nibbling at my hand as it munched on the feed was both heartwarming and humbling. It's a unique experience that allows you to forge a real connection with these creatures.
The farm's staff played an essential role in enhancing my visit. Their knowledge and passion for the animals shone through as they shared interesting facts and stories about each resident. It was evident that the welfare of the animals was a top priority, and their dedication to their well-being was commendable.
In addition to the hands-on animal encounters, Denmark Cuddle Animal Farm also offers a range of activities for visitors, including guided tours and picnic areas where you can enjoy a meal amidst the serene surroundings. It's an ideal destination for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for a peaceful day out.
Overall, my visit to Denmark Cuddle Animal Farm was a delightful experience that left me with cherished memories. The opportunity to hand-feed the animals was a truly heartwarming and educational adventure. I highly recommend this hidden oasis to anyone looking to escape the city and connect with nature while making furry friends along the way.

Such a great experience here today! We were at Plantagenet for a wine tasting and for lunch and the staff cleverly suggested we split the tasting to before and after lunch which worked really well and meant we could both try all the wines we wished to, without worrying about driving after as we had delicious food to soak it all up with 🙌
And it was delicious! I highly recommend the Beef Bourguignon with garlic bread 👩🍳💋 But everything looked yummy 🤤

Defiantly recommend! Had a wonderful wine tasting, sampling the wines from sparkling, whites, reds and finishing with a desert wine. Which each sample the friendly staff member tells you about the wine, including where it is from and answers any questions, such as what cheese would be best paired with the particular wine. The wines were very
nice, one of the best sparkling wines I have tasted. They are known for their Chardonnay but are talented with a variety of wines. Favourites included the Sparkling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz & the desert Resiling. The winery itself is on a spectacularly property and has a beautiful design and decor, with seating inside and out and picnic tables across the grass. Absolutely beautiful winery, I came in after a long day exploring the south coast looking less than presentable (it was very hot), but the service was amazing! I was seated and given a full selection of wines to taste, the gentleman serving me was extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
I ended up purchasing a bottle of red and grabbed an espresso for the road, both were fantastic.
Next time I'm down south I'll definitely come back to spend a bit more time there.
Well worth going!

Was told it was a lovely place to have a wine however the service we received was tiresome. It is a stunning venue however we were made to feel ‘lucky’ to even be there. We were understanding and accommodating asking if they were too busy however there were not many people in the building and they were more concentrated on a next day event. Really disappointing. Took an hour and a half to go through a tasting. Sterile vibe.

Personally my partner and I didn't enjoy the sit down tasting. I guess it's more about the experience than the wine as the staff just poured a small taste then went to another table without telling us anything about the wine. It took too long and we just ended up leaving. It's a nice venue with great views but the wines weren't as good as others in the area and the staff were a bit rude. I wouldn't go back.

Visiting Singlefile Winery in Denmark over the Easter weekend was an unforgettable experience, thanks in no small part to Simone's outstanding service and extensive wine knowledge. From the moment we arrived, Simone made us feel welcomed while also being very knowledgeable about the winery's offerings.

Why did we take so long over all our annual Denmark holidays to get to Single File? That is our only regret after a WONDERFUL wine tasting on Saturday morning. To combine a sunny morning with a beautiful, impeccably kept venue, warm and genuinely friendly welcome, our own charming hostess to take us through the free wine tasting seated at a table (rather than standing by the counter) ..........it all felt a bit special and yet it was so relaxed. There was no pressure to buy but the wines were so good we certainly did and now look forward to adding Single File to our standard itinerary for future annual April Denmark holidays. Please keep everything at the high standard we experienced!!
1,099-m. peak in Stirling Range National Park featuring a popular hike with dramatic views.
Did you actually go to the Stirling Ranges if you didn’t complete Bluff Knoll? What an amazing hike! It does have a lot of steps, steep sections and you do need to watch out for the weather as it gets quite windy up there but just follow the warning signs. The views are spectacular and we saw many people of all ages doing this hike. Just give it a go; take your time and follow the path. There is heaps of parking at the base, but we left our caravan at the caravan park! There is a NP fee to get in.

Took nearly 2 hours to hit the peak. It’s class 4 hiking. Steep and lots of stairs. If you are beginner or not used to do hiking, def take more time to get up there. Recommend to bring heaps of water, snacks and a jacket, pretty cold up there.

Definitely a worthwhile hike. Aim to be at the top in the early morning as it can have the best views.

Epic, epic and epic! Bluff Knoll is no walk in the park, but worth the 3km up and 3km down for amazing views of the region. Bring plenty of water and some snacks and be careful near the edge. Someone had to get airlifted out while we were there. Once at Bluff Knoll, you can continue on for the Stirling Ridge Range Walk (bucketlist worthy - but some serious hiking/navigating experience is necessary).

Unquestionably Incredible. An ideal location for hiking. Don't put your faith on the weather; always be ready for it. Because of its unpredictability, the weather can change in the blink of an eye. In addition, the hike is not as simple as you might anticipate, but it is unquestionably well worth the effort. Lovely and soothing in every way.

The highest and the beautiful peak in WA. Amasing sceneries and very well built path up from the skirt up to the top of the peak. I enjoyed the 4 hour climbing and descending with friends.
Mehdi Memarian — Google review
Bluff Knoll is a challenging hike - a test of one’s stamina but it’s highly doable, one just need lots of determination.
When they saw the mountain from afar, my 62 year old husband and 25 year old son had some doubts if they could really make it to the top - taking into account that we’d also just walked up to Castle Rock that morning itself.
Those doubts quickly dissipated when we met another family at the base… the two children younger than 10 years had just ‘conquered’ the mountain. Mid way up, we met another family with young children coming down in high spirits.
Having said that, walking (I say ‘walking’ bec technically it’s not a climb…) up the seemingly endless steps can be arduous and is not for those with mobility issues, fear of heights, medical conditions and infant children who need to be carried (unless you’re Hercules).
If possible, choose to go on a sunny day so that you can see the panoramic views that stretches as far as the eyes can see.
On the day we went, the weather was erratic… cloudy, heavy rain, sunny, windy… luckily during our actual hike itself, it was just sunny and windy… it would be difficult and perhaps dangerous to walk when it’s raining bec it can get slippery. Best to wear sturdy hiking boots with a good grip. A hiking stick would help too. No hiking stick? No worries, just pick up a long solid fallen branch like what my husband did.
It is very windy up at the summit so you’ll be thankful for wearing a wind breaker.
The total time we took to go up and down including a 20/30mins break on the submit is around 3 hrs 45mins.
Remember - this is not a race.
And it’s not all about the destination.
It’ll be good to stop once in a while to enjoy the views.
If you’re there in Spring, there’re plenty of pretty wild flowers along the way to admire too.
To fuel up before our hike, we had intended to have lunch at the Bluff Knoll cafe that is located at the corner of the road. But it was not open (even though Google says it was). Stranded on seemingly no man’s land, our stomachs growling, we decided to try our luck at a petrol station some way down the road.
Amelup Service Station.
It saved our day. Thank God it was open!
A petrol station in the middle of nowhere, frozen in time, looking like it popped out from the 70’s, served very very delicious burgers… it turned out to be an unforgettable experience like our walk up and down Bluff Knoll…

Be prepared for stairs and the way down is brutal on the knees and the legs in general (absolutely wish they had a cable car or zip line down) but the view is worth it and the experience is surreal! This is one of those experiences where you swear you won’t ever repeat but 6 months down you can’t wait to do it again!
Make sure to bring a warm jacket and good shoes and a walking stick if you prefer, it’ll help you loads!

Not for unfit old farts. Constant up hill for over 3Ks and mostly high steps. The view from the top is great and worth the effort if you are able. We took 5 hours to complete the round trek but had an hour or more at the summit. Take water and wear sturdy footwear. Good luck and enjoy.

Bluff Knoll was an adventure to remember! It's one of the highest peaks in WA, and the climb up can be pretty challenging, but oh boy, the views from the top are just unbeatable. You're looking out over the Stirling Range, and on a clear day, the panorama is nothing short of breathtaking. The trail itself is well-maintained, with some steep sections that really get your heart pumping.

Absolutely amazing. Perfect place to hike near Perth city. Do not trust the weather be prepared for it. Weather is so unpredictable , changes in a blink of eye. And , the hike is not that easy how you expect, but it’s absolutely worth it. Would definitely recommend you to visit here . So lovely and relaxing.

Wow. Amazing. My wife and Ì did the climb for the first time. It took us 4 hours return, it was challenging but an amazing experience. We didn't rush and spent 30 mins at the summit taking in the breathtaking views. It's 6km - 6.5km return, 1.1km high. We are in our early 50's. Go for it and experience this amazing gem.

Not an easy climb, took 5 hours in all being not in the best fitness condition. Stairs and more stairs, get a trekking pole to assist. Views from the top are stunning if not obstructed by clouds. Best time to do this trek is in winter without the heat and flies. Along the way is a really nice natural waterfall. Bring windbreakers as wind can be very very strong near the top.

What an amazing experience! I would thoroughly recommend the early morning hike. A 2:45 wake up was definitely worth it for the view.

Beautiful location, lovely wine and friendly service. If the lumberjack cake is in the menu please try it. It’s delicious.

Passed this place on the way to the Granite Skywalk and took the opportunity to pop in to sample the wines on offer. Had a warm welcome from the host Eugene who guided us through his selection of wines. I enjoyed the Shiraz and the tawny port. Tastings are free, but if you don't buy a bottle, please put a donation in the charity tin.
Steve Blackmore — Google review
My second visit to Ironwood. It's a pleasant place and you can have a light lunch or antipasto platter to enjoy their wine. However, it is not reasonable when you pay for your 4 bottles of wine and coffee together and then when in the car park, you have a woman running after you indicating you haven't paid for your coffee, Moreover, the husband who took my money also said I hadn't paid. I have my bank records to show I paid. This was not the only instance with my party where there was unreasonable treatment of customers. Tax avoidance bring a product of their business practice.

Breathtaking view, super friendly and knowledgeable owner, irresistible cheese cake (love the lime jam inside and coconut topping), very suit with Chardonnay. Love the icecream with M&M. ♥️😋

Beautiful winery and great wine. Not the friendliest service as we were not able to order eats even though the winery was closing an hour and a half later. If we could have enjoyed a platter with the wine it would have been amazing!

Great service, reasonably priced and enjoyed the wines.
Ancient granite domes laced with paths & nature trails, plus picnic areas & a viewing platform.
Beautiful hike and scenery. Clean toilets and plenty of picnic tables and even a BBQ at the bottom.

Moderate difficulty grade walks with lots of wild flowers and birdslife. Views at the top of the peak are rewarding. The BBQs and compost toilets are very clean. The trail is well marked and the stairs are new. It's the perfect place rejuvenate.
Some arts are very steep so appropiate shoes is a must. At parts the trail is very narrow so you'd have to walk behind each other.

Beautiful place for a forest walk! It has descriptions of the difficulty level and expected time taken for each of the trails which was very helpful! We took the easy trail and there was plenty of seats available along the way. Bring a picnic and enjoy the serenity 😊

We went to the granite sky walk, it was about 4.7km and we were able to complete it within 1.5 hrs. It was a bit of an uphill climb all the way up, so be prepared with suitable shoes and have some water with you.
When you are in the granite rock there are hand trails bolted into the rock, they make it easy to climb up. It is pretty easy to climb and the views up there are absolutely amazing 😍

I love the Porongurups! I came here as a tiny child in 1957 and knew it felt special. That was 64 years ago. I have lived on our family property in the Porongurups for the last 20 years running our accommodation called Thorns Mountain Retreats. Every day I kiss the ground and say thank you for being able to live in this amazing place and to share it with others. There is magic in the forest, rocks and peaks here. Its a place to be free!
We are right next to the National Park so it means our guests can walk just 50 metres and then wander and climb to many of the peaks from here. Pretty special.
Look us up!
Here are some pics of our property and some secret spots nearby.

So much to see and experience in this part of WA. A delight if you love 5-10km hikes with some challenging elevation. I tracked in December and found the temperature to be still fairly mild but suspect it would be best to visit in spring or Autumn to avoid heat extremes.

Stunning view from the Granite Skywalk. Amazing just thinking about how the Skywalk was built.
The Granite Skywalk is a popular attraction located on top of Castle Rock, accessible via a challenging 2km hike and rock scramble. The walkway offers breathtaking panoramic views and is situated at an altitude of 670m. The path can be difficult at times, with narrow granite steps that can become slippery after rain. However, the stunning vistas from the top make it all worth it.
This is a must do if you are near Albany…. 35 min drive. However, it is not easy. We are 73 and pretty fit and made it ok, but the last part at the boulders is a challenge. You need to scramble over sections and climb ladders to the view. But so worth it at the top late in the day as the sun softens on the landscape.
The walk up is 2km….easy but all up! Down was easier.
NB there are National Park fees to pay at the car park….$15 per car or $10 seniors.
Gary Rowe — Google review
For us it was an average to hard hike, (but we dont generally hike)it is 2.5km there and 2.5km back and 670m high...it seemed to go on and on.The path is challenging, and at times slippery after rain, being dirt and granite steps, sometimes narrow as well. Once arriving at top the views are awesome though and you feel you have a accomplished feel. At the top you can choose to go to the next level,...for the very fit and experienced hiker. Where good shoes and a walking stick is your best friend ..
Frank Liz Yates — Google review
Lots of rocky steps. I saw people of varying fitness levels and ages on the climb. There is a lower viewing point just below the skywalk for all that may not be able to clamber over the large boulders to get to the ladder. Its a reasonably steep hike. I would advise to do in cooler months in dry weather, as in not on a rainy day. If you’re struggling take a rest and keep going if you can, it’s an amazing feat.
Wendy Gathercole — Google review
An awesome little up and back hike with a cool skywalk and rock structures at the end. It's a slight incline the whole way up, around an hour or so. You'll spend at least 30 minutes up there before a walk down the same trail.
Geoffrey Rouse — Google review
Very nice hike up to the top.
It feels really hot going up as there no air, a lot of shade but it still feels hot. Make sure you carry enough water with you.
Just finishing the works to build some steps, makes it much easier.
It took 45 min to go up and staid 15 min near the granite rock + about 30 min to go back to the car park
Maud Cappelle — Google review
This is a great hike with stunning views at the top. We started at around 10:30am and returned by around 1pm, i would recommend going as early as you can, the heat made it unbearable. The walk up is a consistent steep incline.
Be warned its really not for the faint hearted, the climb at the end can be difficult to maneuver and certainly a struggle if you don't like heights.
I'm in my 20's and I saw many people of different ages so it's definitely doable and worth the try!!
Approx length was just over 4k
Don't forget to pay for your Park Pass, there is a Meter in the carpark, it's $15 per car for a day pass

One of the most spectacular views in south WA!
Pay close attention to the hike instructions though. We managed to get up and back in 1h 30 but it does say allow longer. It’s very elevated and strenuous and the scramble up to the top is tricky (virtually hands and knees in places!) View was 100% worth it and with the added bonus of being the only people up there.

Great place to visit. It's roughly a 2km walk from the car park. Stop at the top as you enter, buy your visitors pass then go & park. Otherwise when it's busy, you have to walk up & back from the bottom car park.
The walk is quite a challenge, it's all steps & pretty much all up hill. Good shoes, plenty of water & you'll make it. Just allow yourself plenty of time both ways.

A hell of a walk up there if you are a bit u fit like me, but totally worth it. You get to see some great views and interesting rock formations and some of the wildlife say hello too. Take plenty of water with you as here is nowhere to refill at the top and there are no toilet facilities at the top either. There is a national park entry fee which you pay at the machine in the car park.
