Having stopped at Coolamon to visit the cheese factory, we walked past the Fire Museum and decided to poke our head in… well what a fantastic museum. Located in the former fire station, the museum houses a wide collection of fire memorabilia.
The owner is knowledgeable and will talk through what the equipment is and how it was used. If you are ever near by, then stop in and discover some Australian history!
Andrew Gatley — Google review
Definitely worth a visit. Chris gave us a detailed look at the rich history of fire fighting. While most of the collection was Australian there was a mix of memorabilia from around the world.
Tom Cook — Google review
A great destination to visit for the locals who love fire trucks. There's such a great variety of fire engines and equipment to look at, both old and new. The kids and elderly will probably love it too! 🚒🔥🚒
Kevin Burgackler — Google review
Extremely friendly host. An absolutely staggering array of fire-fighting memorabilia from all around the would. An absolute must-see if you’re driving through this district.

What a fantastic display of fire brigade memorabilia. Chris has done a great job collecting and displaying a lot of rare and current items. Well worth a visit.

A great museum in a small country town. The guy looking after it is an ex firefighter and has a heap of information... very interesting and worth a stop

This museum is one of the best curated collections that I have ever seen. Congratulations to Chris the owner. Many thanks for sharing all your wonderful stories with us. You are a wealth of knowledge and experience. Many Thanks again, Greg and Debbie Ellis.
Plenty of room , shade, good set up. Good painting

Nice place to stop for a photo. The art is amazing but it isn't worth it to go here just for the photo, especially if you live far away.

What wonderful surroundings, sites and amenities. Very friendly & helpful people.
My only disappointment is not knowing that ALL the amenities are Unisex, no option. Felt a bit uneasy having a shower in the block.

Great silo art done on 3 connecting silos looks great in my opinion
Markle Te — Google review
The silos are very easy to access and perfect for photographing. Weethalle is a very very small town with only a few businesses present. The old train station is no longer being used and is sadly falling into disrepair. Lovely little old closed bank building here as well. I did not see any businesses open when I went so unable to give any feedback on them. Well worth the silo art trip

Such lovely well done art on this silo

Super cool artwork representing the Aussie outback work and life style in the middle of no where. Perfect to enlighten your day up on a long summer day. We came across so many silios and wish they all had artwork. They add a whole lot of meaning to the country life for a random visitor like me.

Amazing place with a huge Olympic size pool as well as a recreation pool and splash areas for you kids and toddlers. We loved this place so much.
When you’re not swimming you can relax in the shade on the grass and just take in the nearby river and bush land. Entrance is unbelievably affordable at just $4 for the whole day and I believe pensioners and people not swimming are only charged $2.
The really hot weather is coming soon, and we’ll be back!

What an amazing day trip to have ☺️
Pools a plenty, lots of play areas for little ones. Affordable canteen and entry fees. You can take a picnic if you want or use the BBQ facilities.
Staff were all so lovely and happy to chat to this "tourist" who had a million questions. Wheelchair accessible pools too.

Looks AMAZING! We wanted to swim some laps, but it's closed until 5th October, so disappointed

I like this park. Friendly park owners and staff you get a guided tour to your site. Nice grass under foot it’s also nice and green. Amenities are clean same for the camp kitchen. There is a swimming pool within a few metres walk but not connected to the park.

Great set up.
Lots of shade, variety of seating and coin operated BBQ facilities.
Slides are 50 cents a go and you buy slide ride tickets in lots of five.
Thoroughly recommend a visit if you have kids, although it is great for the big ones as well as there were adults swimming laps in the 50m pool while we were there to.
A Web — Google review
What an absolute gem! My family and I came for a day out and it's safe to say everyone gave it a glowing review. We were fortunate there was barely anyone there, the lifeguard told me it gets pretty packed over school holidays + Saturdays/Sundays in January. The toddler pool and splash pad are great. There is a gradually deepening wading pool that goes to 1.2m I think, along with huge, deep lap pool. The three slides are AMAZING. The purple and orange one was lots of fun, full of twists and turns. There are two speed racers which only opened for a bit of the day as the crowd was too small, but lots of fun too. There are lovely toilets with showers and a changing area. BBQs and a kiosk selling hot chips, chicken nuggets, lollies, ice creams etc. There is ample shaded seating with picnic tables. Entry is $4 per person, kids under 4 (?) free. The slides are additional, we paid $10 for 20 slides - you can share them, they can be used on multiple visits. The hot chip cup is $3. This is SO reasonably priced and so much fun. We'll definitely be back over Summer!!
Jessica McInerney — Google review
Great pools and waterslides, although not very long, you will find them either terrifying, exciting, or both at once😂 Great easygoing staff (lifeguards). BBQ and picnic areas. Awesome toddler friendly water park. Cheap entry. Drop in for a refreshing dip in their pristine pools and make a day of it.
Peter Harriott — Google review
A great place to cool off with lots of pools, slides, activity area and a Cafe. Entry doesn't break the bank and the staff are helpful and friendly. There is lots of parking and don't forget there are barbecues here too.
Martin Brown — Google review
It's nice place to hang out there, with awesome rides and swimming pools.
Akshay patel — Google review
The Lake Talbot complex is an absolute gem. The pools and seating/grassed areas are spotlessly clean and well maintained.
Staff are polite and well attentive to the safety of the swimmers.
Entry and water slide pricing is very reasonable. No, it's cheap!
Finding somewhere to park can be tricky on the busy days.
A hiking trail with views leads to this shelter inhabited from the late 1920s to1952 by a recluse.
Great place to visit and learn a bit about the Italian immigration to the area. It is not always easy to follow the numbered walk as some numbers have been pulled off and the walk defined dirt paths do tend to deviate all over the place. If it is cool enough you could walk from the Junction all the way up. Obviously used by mbs as well by the track evidence. Some amazing scenery as well as views. Be mindful of grass seeds, rotten things. Dog friendly, some climbing, paths narrow, watch for broken glass as obviously a local drinking spot, bins at carpark
Jacqueline Leorke — Google review
I really liked it... a lot of the negative reviews probably want pristine trails, and boardwalks so they don't have to get dirt on their shoes or burrs in their socks.... It's a really interesting little rocky outcrops with multiple trails throughout, they are a bit rough, and there is a bit of rock scrambling to do, and the single-track trails are in places very primitive, and some along the bottom of the cliff faces are almost indiscernible after it's been rainy (as the grasses and plants have grown). But it's very close to Griffith which is in view from almost all vantage points, so there is no way you will get lost.
I walked from the Quest hotel in town, up Boonah St, and followed the trails parallel to Rememberance Dr, up along the ridge, following the trails across the top (next to Scenic Dr) until the Hermit's Cave. You have many trails, and lookouts that you come across, and then there are primitive rock stairs that go down to the Hermit's Cave and bottom of the cliffs. There are a smaller trail along the bottom of the cliff, which is a bit harder to follow, but for the less adventurous there is a new wider graded trail/dirt road a bit further down the hill towards town that also travels all the way along back to where you start.
It was a real gem! a total surprise that it was this close to town, I have been to Griffith before and never new there was a great hike SO close! pretty easy to do if you are of moderate fitness, and 2-3 hrs to spare! highly recommend!
Tim Dennis — Google review
Found this experience interesting but sad to see this man's hard work now.. overgrow, graffiti and rubbish scattered amongst his pristine home.
Signs are all pulled off in area's.
Volunteers and a working bee from the council would make this site more appealing than the false pictures on the website.
Angela Jayne Temponi — Google review
Would suggest reading the Wikipedia entry about the hermit before coming up. The signage and paths are not well-maintained and there is rubbish around. But if you know the story of the hermit it is still an interesting place to visit, and there are good views of Griffith. We parked on Scenic Drive and walked down the stairs to the cave. Not tricky for fit people but kids / elderly people should be careful with unsteady ground and some shifting rocks.
James B — Google review
Good place for a little trail walk and climb over some rocks. Great look out over Griffith the hub of NSW food bowl.
Jonathan Dearing — Google review
Could be a great local attraction but unfortunately, has not been maintained. We enjoyed checking out the view and exploring the site but faded signage and syringes and rubbish lying around took away from the experience. Hopefully council or whoever is responsible can give it a bit of a tidy up for future visitors.
Tim Drough — Google review
Griffith residents and council should be very ashamed of this place!! To say it's disgusting would be too nice! There is broken glass everywhere so looks like the locals or local yobbos use it as a hurling place. Unless you are a mountain goat 🐐 with boots on Dont even bother!! Such a shame as it could be a great tourist spot with loads of TLC and maybe some sort of surveillance . Very disappointed Griffith. One star is too many for rating
Linda Eyles — Google review
What a weird and wonderful place to visit in the hills along the Griffith scenic route.
Learn about the home made in the caves, walk through them to see how Hermit lived back in the eay 1900's.
Views are great from carpark. The 1.2kn walk is moderate, and signage warns of dangers when wet, and steep areas.
I did the extended walk of 5km, which walked top, along the bottom, & back along road to carpark.
Worth visiting if visiting Griffith.
Raelene G — Google review
Well worth a visit but you need to do a little research on Wiki “Hermit’s Cave” first so it is more meaningful. Learn about Valerie Ricetti first. Path is a little overgrown and some rubbish had blown in from locals who park up there. Info centre in town will give you a map that is helpful.
Bryce McLean — Google review
I started the trail at Hermits Cave car park. It is an easy walk although the trail is not marked well and I lost it on more than one occasion and eventually just continued bush bashing back to the top however I missed many of the points of interest. No big deal as your orientation is easy to where one is so you will not get lost. There are numbered markers but the info pamphlet from the tourist info kiosk in town does not include what they are in reference too.
I would have given this trail over 4 stars if the trail was clearly defined which it was not and the place is not used as a dumping ground for the public to scatter rubbish. I was disgusted and disappointed with the degree of rubbish here to the point that I cut the walk short halfway in. It appears to be coming from the cliff tops where people toss it over the edge.
The saving grace was the trail along the ridge line on my return which is parallel to Scenic Drive. This section was a very easy walk with Rock hopping, stunning outcrops and fabulous views.
Ian Sykes — Google review
Very interesting. Very overgrown and un doable track when we visited in mid Feb.
tommyjordan1988 — Google review
This is not your normal site to visit. It's a hiking trail to visit a few landmarks. You can't spend money. You can't get a drink. Bring good shoes. Don't fall.
Brad Horne — Google review
A good place to glimpse some history of the area. Signage helps you find the cave and chapel and there is a walk - not for the faint hearted or clumsy of foot though - lots of stone steps to negotiate. Worth a visit.
Martin Brown — Google review
It was different place to visit. Such a pity people have to deface it. The Griffith Shire needs to get up there and give it a clean, especially get rid of the German Swastika from the roof of the cave.
OurWanderingWays — Google review
Could be an excellent tourist attraction. The story is fascinating unfortunately it has not been maintained. Not well sign posted. The paths are overgrown and are hard to distinguish. Listed as one of the towns main attractions it was disappointing to see the lack of interest by council to give this place its proper due.
Some amazing rock formations and good views of the town
Elizabeth Scalzo — Google review
Great place to visit if interested in having a look at the entire Griffith town from above. Its a relaxing place on the outskirts of the town not too far from pioneer park museum. It can be too dark in the night time as there are no street lights and driving should be cautious due to the kangaroos casually roaming around the roads. The sunset and sunrise view from here looks and is totally worth it.
This was the residing place of Vileri Ricetti during 1930-1950s. It has about a 1km of walking trail and some features like rock shelters to look at.

A very interesting museum, and the staff member was absolutely incredible and explained everything so well. We had our pictures taken in the jeep and watched a short 20 minute documentary too. They were very accomodating and allowed our dog into the museum too which was great. Lots to read on the information boards too, and plenty of artefacts around the museum. A great cafe next door too, and highly recommended to visit!

A great place to visit. The museum staff were very friendly and so willing to help. The information in the museum is well presented and there are some great video presentations. Allow plenty of time to see everything especially the bunker. The cafe is open Thursday to Sunday and they have excellent tea and coffee. The main meals are delicious and well presented.

Beautiful place. Educational and lovely staff willing to educate you on all the facets of the lake and where the boats used to land.
War history Education. So much to see and do.
Has a lovely park outside for the children. The only thing I would like would be a cafe. It's missing and I'd say we'll needed.

History of the Catalans flying aircraft, there is a large model inside the building along with other artifacts relating to world war 2 , also check out the underground bunker that was used in the war, recommend this museum highly.

Well worth a visit. Do make sure you have about 2 hours to see it properly. From watching the video after a brief chat, to viewing the exhibits and the bunker at the end. The Flying Boat Museum explained how Lake Boga became an important part of WW2 and some things that we are not taught in Australian History at school

This a must look at. There is a lot of history. Staff are super friendly. Naz can't help you enough. He shows true passion for his job. The bunker is worth a look. Give yourself a couple of hours. If you like reading maybe an extra hour or so. Highly recommend. 10/10

What a brilliant surprise it was to find this fabulous museum! I'm an aircraft nut from teenage years & was over the moon to see the restored Catalina plus all the other brilliant aviation (& other) memorabilia.
Lake Boga was a WW2 secret & also a modern day secret as we had never heard its story. So glad we visited & we'll be spreading the word!

This is an excellent museum..a úst visit!! Lyn personally welcomed us and showed us in. The displays are informative and numerous. Can't fault it. The facilities are great as is the gift shop. Naz happily advised the best photo angles for the perfect photo on the jeep and of the Catalina. His sense of humour, sales skills and infectious laugh topped off the visit.😄 We walked out smarter and smiling. Thank you for making this such an enjoyable experience,

Nightly show using water, lights, lasers & sound to tell the story of the Little Murray River.
I have read many a review and had doubted visiting but all I can say is YOU MUST VISIT. What an amazing experience and to learn about the local history, have a ride on the paddlesteamer, horse and cart and old time car. Nick the Blacksmith was absolutely AMAZING 👏 😍 and the kids loved their personalised horse shoes. The kids even made butter and had it smothered on fresh made damper. Thank you so much for a truly wonderful visit.

We did this over 2 days and it was fantastic. First day looked around the settlement, which was all interesting. Second day we did the PYAP paddle boat cruise and the light show that night. It is all very informative, interactive and kids would enjoy themselves also. Well worth looking into it all.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience for both young and old. The admission ticket allows you to visit over two consecutive days, however around three hours was plenty of time to cover pretty much everything. We didn't do the paddle steamer or light show but have heard good reports. We particularly enjoyed the photo studio where you can dress up in old clothes for $10 per person or $25 for families and take photos with your own mobile phone or get the volunteer to take some for you. There is an old car from the 1920's that you can have a free ride in as well as go and watch real butter being made both of these experiences were gems. - Hamish John Appleby

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. A few hours roaming the settlement then a trip on the Pyap. Followed by Heartbeat The next night. The only thing I would to suggest is that once a year they clean the sealed exhibits. I don't think that has been done since they were set up. Otherwise very enjoyable.

Fabulous place to visit.
I totally enjoyed it,especially the ride with Joe the Draught horse !
Very informative.
The light show at night was really spectacular and surpassed my thoughts on it . Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Totally recommend this place .

Park itself was good but the laser show at night was absolutely brilliant. Saw the Mallee show and disappointed we couldn't see the other option the next night but were only there for one night. It is a must see attraction and very reasonably priced to do a multi ticket option, we did the day, night, boat ticket at $81 each...
Lee — Google review
The laser light show is quite short, The lighting effects are very good but the millions of years evolution and aboriginal dream time myths were unnecessary, too long and actually totally contradicted each other.
Nothing about the Murray in drought times, tiny bit about the weirs and locks. Only brief mention of the railways effect on the River trade.
Peter Stokes — Google review
Superb tourist attraction, great for kids to become more aware of a time where there were no devices, or even e look electricity.
Staff were excellent, very friendly.
Do yourself a favour and take the 2 day option, the paddle boat, and the Heartbeatnight show.
You won't be disappointed
Graeme Brown — Google review
A great day. I recommend allowing a full day. You don't need to, but if you want to have a good look at everything and go on the paddle steamer then I would definitely pencil in for a full day. I also recommend coming back for the night laser/water show.

Very quiet as was a weekday, our ticket included rides on the horse drawn carriage and vintage car. Not all shops were open but still had a good time.

Wonderful recreation of Swan Hill's early life, with heaps of exhibits explaining life in the time. The ride on the Pyap was a highlight, as was the evening light show.
Sean O'Keefe — Google review
Iv you are heading to Swan Hill or simply passing through, make the Pioneer Village a definite stop over.
Not only are the buildings real, but there has been so much added. So you feel like people live and work there.
On top of this are the paddleboats Gem and Pyap, with river cruises available on the Pyap.
There are plenty of lawns overlooking the Murray under dappled shade from the well kept trees as well.
The village has ample parking, and is wheelchair access throughout.
10/10

Such a relaxing, fun and educational place. All the staff were fantastic and helpful, special mention to the guys running the car, horse rides, blacksmithing and gentleman named Aure.... working in the front office. We had a great 2 days seeing the settlement, light shows and paddle boat ride. Would recommend doing all of them, well worth visit to Swanhill.
David Hillsberry — Google review
The Pioneer Settlement in Swan Hill is an amazing place. However, some reviews say that it is lifeless and the staff is rude. But that is not the case. It seems they just didn't find the right people. When I visited with my dad and brothers, we took a ride on the PS Pyap and then spent some time exploring the settlement.
The staff were very enthusiastic about their jobs and eager to show the younger generations how people used to entertain themselves in the past. They were happy to answer most questions and initiate conversations with visitors, particularly the volunteers in some of the stores. One staff member named Terry, who demonstrated rope making and butter making, helped us and let us try making rope and butter ourselves (and it tasted great).
If you visit the music store (#16 on the map), the volunteers might play the pianos for you and show you how a few things work, if you ask nicely. Just be careful when they move to the barrel organ, as it can be quite loud.
The industrial area is also worth checking out, as it showcases the development of many things we take for granted today, such as cars and houses.
The Heart Beat of the Murray is a light show that provides insight into the history of the Murray River and the Aboriginal people. The show includes a lot of flashing lights, so those who have epilepsy should avoid it. Other than that, the bubbles, smoke, water, and fire effects are beautiful and don't need any improvement. However, adding another bubble machine above the crowd could enhance the immersive experience.
Overall, the Pioneer Settlement is a great place to visit and provides a glimpse into life before technology. It's definitely worth the price and is only a 4 to 5-minute walk from the BIG4 caravan park. I had no issues during my visit and would rate it 5 stars.
Tjport576 — Google review
This is the first pioneer Settlement open air museum in this country & somehow ended up being lesser known than Sovereign Hill in Ballarat.
Definitely a must visit🏆👍🏼! Exceeded my expectations esp. the 30 mins Heartbeat of the Murray Laser & Light show projected on the Murray River which starts at 9 or 9.30 pm in summer. I did this the night before & the Pioneer Settlement & PS Pyap Paddlesteamer cruise the next day with an early start. Too much to squeeze all in on the one day. Multipass Tix (concession available) is the best way to go.
The Settlement showcases life & occupations of early colonial settlement in 1850s in this Mallee (arid-dry-red earth) region. Most of the buildings are relocated & restored buildings, historic agricultural equipments, wagons & carriages, household & occupational items in the actual setting. Intriguing to walk through the pre-fabricated cast iron house relocated from Sth Melb as I never got round to checking this out in its original site. Free rides on the horse carriage or vintage car driven by friendly volunteers who will give an overview of the buildings.
There is a lot of info to read & appreciate & all of it is absorbing if you are into history & reality. I did see a few overseas visitors walking around quickly with not much of interest. If you want Disney style make believe entertainment, you are definitely in the wrong place & country..!
Staff & volunteers are very helpful & obliging. Pretty quiet on weekdays but picks up on Fri & weekends. The Paddlesteamer PS Pyap runs only once at 2.30 pm on weekdays & twice on weekends. Byo lunch or there is a Cafe & excellent Spoons Riverside restaurant.
Swan Hill has a small population & volunteers esp. those who can demonstrate the bygone era trades are hard to find. Jim the Woodturner is a real vintage gem! So it is nothing short of amazing that this pioneer Settlement has been ongoing since 1966. Would be really good to have a guided tour & hopefully the gardens are more reflective of the period & better landscaped.
There are more interactive pioneering activities on weekends. On the day of my visit Friday - volunteer Blacksmith & Woodturner were on duty & very obliging with demo. The General Store & Draper are actual retail shops - I bought some hand made items. Check website for activities if you want to plan your day. A layout map will be given to you at the entry desk & this area has a limited gift shop & ice-creams.
It is not far from Swan Hill train station & town centre - just over one km. However, due to lack of foresight & town planning - there is no direct walkway over the train line. So you have to take the longer downhill route to walk here. Or get a taxi or sporadic bus. Plenty of parking across from entrance. As I got to Swan Hill by train - I walked & it was a real pain to walk back uphill after the night time Heartbeat of Murray Laser show. It is not well lit nor is there a proper footpath until you get to connecting Grey St...!

I cannot speak highly enough of this place. The whole experience is outstanding, so enjoyable. I really want to thank the elderly volunteers, they are so friendly & helpful. I really hope that there will be someone to fill their shoes down the track. Without them it will not be the same. The 2 day pass was very generous. I drove back from where I was staying at Barham to dress up again and take another ride in the 1925 Dodge. Max is a wonderful man & driver. I had different people on each day and they were all fantastic.

So there's two, and the entrance is a tad confusing. Don't take the one right next to the train track, or the one next to the house next to the tracks. Take the one after opposite the park. I had a good sit and enjoyed my pie from the pub.

Local couple Geoff and Merrilyn Horman are depicted in this work by Melbourne artist Rone. Unfortunately the work is faded and poor Merrilyn isn't at all visible. Meals and accommodation available at the Minapre Hotel which also boasts a milk bar and coffee shop. Nearby is the Stockman's Hut Gallery which charges $5 admission and this includes complimentary tea or coffee. The gallery and grounds make up for the disappointment of the silo art.

A bit difficult to make out as the colours are similar to the silo and depending on how much sunlight there is. Still worth going to and seeing it.
Absolutely lovely spot to camp for as long as you think you need. Very popular especially at peak times.

What a fantastic find.
Lake Lascelles, is a great place not only for your fur friends, but the whole family. Lake Lascelles is in the town of Hopetoun, in the southern Mallee region.
The towns folk are the friendliest people only to happy to assist in any way.
Make sure it is on your bucket list.

Well worth visiting, this has to be one of my favourite Silo Art’s that I’ve visited so far! It’s my mission to see them all!!! I want to visit the music festival too!

More great artwork.
It makes you wonder how they get everything in proportion on such a large scale.🤔

Good photo opportunities especially if you include the giant Mallee Fowls next door

A fantastic work of art. Patchie is A great place to stay for a few days too. Great pub and pay $15.00 for a night at the pub for a powered site and water at the Caravan Park. So peaceful!

One of the best on the silo at trail. The description of the subject matter is very good and very apt. If you are on 'The Trail' then I think it is a worth while visit despite the kms travelled to get here.

Beautiful stand alone Aussie Farmer. Surronded by a Cactus garden and iron fowl near by. Opposite a small milkbar and toliets.

So worth the drive out there. Stunning artwork and a great little town

This was where I started the trail. The post office opens at 10am on the Saturday. Grab a coffee, the blond shop keeper was so polite and made a killer cup of coffee. There's snake and all sorts of snacks. The colour full toilets across the road was amazingly clean. Be aware, Google does take you around the back for this silo.

I'll never travel to Adelaide without this trip planner again
Brilliant. Lovely bush farm setting. Very spacious sites so it feels like you have the place to yourself, looking out over paddocks and bush.
Great amenities, very clean, heaps of hot water.
Fantastic for kids. Our kids especially enjoyed the hay bale maze and farm tour.
The hosts ate fantastic. Friendly and helpful and clearly love what they do.
Highly recommended!
Michael Harris — Google review
Fantastic accommodation for families. Lovely hosts and facilities. Highly recommended staying here which had all the amenities. Highlight was having the wide open space for the children to safely roam and explore the animals. I don't know why we hadn't considered farm stays earlier. We used this as our getaway and to break up the Adelaide-Melbourne route.
Tray Ra — Google review
Where do we start!?! Our stay was truly AMAZING. The best place we have ever stayed with our children. Pricing was good, staff were fantastic and the facilities were fabulous. We could sit back relax and let the kids run free, all lawns, grass was cared for and well looked after. Kids were never bored with all the free activities. We are already planning our next trip back to stay. Highly recommended to families.
Phil Ratcliff — Google review
Could it get any better? We got in late and our hosts went out of their way to settle us in. The kids went wild checking out all the amazing facilities. ..a maze, camels and emus, a playground. Just fabulous!!

Very different place to stay. A lot better than a caravan park, wide open spaces with shade if needed. Will definitely be back
An absolutely stunning mural. Well worth stopping if you are passing through Coonalpyn.
There are car parks on either side of the road to make life easier for you.
There is a Cafe nearby if you would like some food or a coffee

Such fantastic murals and a great little town to stop over on the way back to Melbourne to stretch your legs. The murals were amazing, huge and breathtaking.

Beautiful silo art in this rural SA town. Amble parking and possible to get great pictures from many angles.
The bakery down the street serves good coffee and pies, and there's public toilets too. Get here early on weekends before the caravans pulls up. It tends to get a little crowded.

Coonalpyn Silo Mural
Visited on 20/6/2019
After leaving Victor Harbor, we arrive at the site of the silos. We park across the road where the Coolnalpyn Uniting Church is, although there is a large dedicated parking area on the same side of the road as the silo.
These 30-metre silos belong to Viterra, and are fully operational. There are 10 silos, arranged in two rows.
They are painted in white, and used as the canvas for the large murals. The aim for the mural project is about "rural renewal through the arts"
The gigantic paintings depict five Coonalpyn Primary School children in various poses.
This is the first time I come across silo art. In my future adventure, I shall make an effort to visit other silo art sites.
Sin Fong Chan — Google review
Very, very impressive silo art and overall an accommodating rest stop. Collectors like me and most other visitors enjoy taking photos as well as just admiring them, so could the people who plan everything, try to not to have 101 bits and pieces in the way so we can get a clean shot? A rubbish bin, a wifi sign, a P sign, 2 "no entry" signs, a "no standing" sign, a pedestrian crossing sign and a "Proud supporter" sign !!!! I know its Street Art and all, but this is an indicator that people just don't think.

Huge paintings on silos along the highway.. go back along the road for 150m and get an original Belgium waffle at the waffle bakery..

Silo Art I hadn’t seen before so a lovely surprise. Pictures of local school children. Town had a real sense of community. Only issue is why do they have big signs blocking some of the art. Apart from that it is wonderful
Angela Bowater — Google review
A beautiful and incredible piece of silo art. It's a wonder how the artist can envision the piece then spend the time creating it for us all to admire. It's a lovely way to take a break from driving. Recommend.

If it is a step back in time you are after. Seeing how Australia was made to what it is today. Seen all the history was a great experience. The history was well presented a must see for all ages. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a great time just walking around have a good look at it all. Well worth the money

If you like old stuff and seeing how people of the past lived you'll enjoy this place. If you're into creative photography you'll like this place. If you're a family looking for entertainment go someplace else to be honest. Costs you $28/adult to go in for a look. I can see that it would have been fantastic at some point but sadly it would seem resources and labour don't permit proper maintenance and the place is deteriorating. A lot of history will soon be lost. It'll be an awesome clearing sale though! Go see it while it survives. Its elderly owner is doing what he can.
Paul Pavlinovich — Google review
It wasn’t too busy or crowded when we stopped by so we didn’t have to wait to enter, although there was a school bus touring and only several others so it wasn’t overly crowded so we got space and time to thoroughly explore the village.
Give yourself at least 2 hours to get through the whole village and soak in all the information.
If you’re a bad hay-fever sufferer ensure to take your antihistamines beforehand.
We didn’t book in advance and paid $60 entry fee for a family (4) that included coffee and cake with an adult entrance. We did a self tour, no time limey, however if you’re wanted a guided tour, book in advance.
Bring your own backpack with drinks & snacks recommended if you have younger kids for the duration of time to explore the grounds.

What a place, please, everyone, you have to support this place as it will close down if we don't. So many interesting things to see, I didn't put half my photos on as I had to leave something as a surprise when you go there. If you have a tiny waistline, you can hire the outfits for $5.00 that they used to were in that era. There is tea and coffee and biscuits for sale and reasonable priced souvenirs for sale.
If you like my ratings, please follow me.

This place is one of a kind in SA, curating all sorts of history and allowing close up inspection / interaction with artefacts.
Unfortunately, it is in a state of decline, with countless rotten wood features, broken glass, termite damage, trip hazards, and spiders nests. Visit while you can, I'd expect it to be bulldozed within 20 years as restoration would cost a huge amount.
It was about 60% run-down exhibits and 40% junk.
A bit costly at $60/family for what you get.
Jarrah Muller — Google review
My toddler and I loved it here and spent a good 3 hrs soaking it all in. My son was particularly interested in the old vehicles. We stopped in the old hall for a snack break too. I'm keen to go back next time I'm up that way.

For my wife & I this was our second visit to this Pioneer Village. It has grown in size since then & still a great display of how life was in the 1800 & 1900’s. In my opinion it’s a bit expensive for what’s there & disappointing it hasn’t been upgraded to accomodate wheelchair access & in fact anyone with bad knees etc will struggle to view a number of the buildings on display, with some paths presenting challengers. If they had Light & Sound displays similar to Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement & Ballarats Sovereign Hill to really bring the place to life would improve it immensely.
I still really enjoy this place & recommend it but it does need a few changers to make it sensational.
Dean Redden — Google review
Great place to walk and around and check out history and how life once was.
Great selection of old buildings, vehicles, machinery and much much more. Well over 100 buildings with a lot accessible. Easily spent 3 hours soaking it all in, owner is lovely and loves a good chat.

Another one of them places we have driven past for years, and decided we might have a look,
We were not left disappointed, place is busting at the seams with old time memorabilia, if you like spending hours walking through places looking at they history of the area, old cars, trucks, etc, this place is a must.
Churches, barns, houses, dentist, doctors, bakery, mechanics, fire station, police station, cemetery,
Trains are just a few out of 100+ shops/houses etc from yesteryear
Well worth the stop, alow 2-4 hours,
Michael Palombieri — Google review
Absolutely love this place! I used to go as a child and now I bring my own children here. They loved the old buildings, history and had fun exploring.
The people who run the place have been there since day 1!!!!
Unique and one of a kind!!!
The donations of buildings and items shows amazing community unity and they are always updating some of them with a fresh bit of paint etc.

While driving towards Adelaide saw in passing expected it to be old vehicle collection. On our return once again saw it pass by but decided to turn back and it was the right decision.
It's amazing recreation of an old town by brining in different old structures from various parts of the country. The recreation was not only structures but also the interiors to create realtime experience of those years. The collection was not limited to structures but the crockery, artifacts, furniture, appliances, vehicles, teams, train coaches and so on including a cemetery. Noel, caretaker and creator of the town was very enthusiastic, he provided information, and history and what one should not miss while walking around.
Overall an unforgettable experience and time we'll spent. Thanks to Noel & Peter.

Amazing Pioneer Town with streets and buildings furnished appropriately to the era. Period music plays as you wander round which adds to the atmosphere. Buildings and contents sourced from all over Australia and brought together to create this experience by the owner Peter Squires who graciously and proudly gave us a short tour as the attraction was about to close when we arrived. Well worth a visit and could easily spend couple of hours exploring.
Mike Wesson — Google review
Take the time to stop and call in, there's such an amazing collection of Australian history there. We spent 5 hours strolling around, don't forget to bring your lunch! I loved the old dance hall and the hotel, the buildings are original and have been moved to the village for your enjoyment. The railway signals and fire engine collection are incredible, not to mention the wooden speedboat collection, the facinating engines, an old Glenelg tram and the iconic Balfours pie cart!!
Caroline Roberts — Google review
Such a good collection of antiques slowly going to ruin :( . It's a good place but has so much more potential to be something terrific it would be great to see someone or something step in and fund it's revival . Could easily be as good as a sovereign hill the basics are all there .

A great day out at Old Tailem Town today. So much history & can't begin to imagine how many years it has taken the owners to build/create and collect so many pieces from the past for everyone to enjoy. Just went today and little bit dry out. Its a nice scenary and worth to stop for a while. Its difficult to take a picture to refect the pink color of the lake but you can enjoy from your eyes. A good stop along the way to Adelaide!
KYTwins — Google review
The lake wasn't pink due to lack of water. However, it was nice to appreciate nature.
Irene Tan — Google review
Well, it wasn’t pink. Guess we were too late into the summer when we visited. A month earlier would’ve seen some water, which I guess gives the lake its bright pink colour. The water had evaporated when we visited on Jan 20th.
We walked about 200 meters from the road onto the dry lake bed to try to get a good picture, but the soil was pretty damp, so our shoes got really messy. 🙂
There’s very little side-of-the-road parking. Probably for 4-5 cars only. Be careful while getting back on the road since cars are going really fast there and you’ll need to pick up speed really quickly to keep the flow of traffic going.
The drive’s pleasant if the weather’s good.
Rahul Rao — Google review
It's a lake with a pink hue. Pretty far back from the road atm and very thick and sticky mud underfoot this time of year, so probably not worth stopping until it's a bit warmer and the blooms are in full force.
Safely pull off the road on either side, signs saying no vehicles are saying "don't drive past this point" (Don't drive into the mud) not 'don't stop here' lol
James Armstrong — Google review
Pink lake was almost dried up when we stopped by. Still looks light pink, we wanted to get closer to the lake but it was muddy and smelly. Have a water to wash ur shoes.

Pink Lake (historically known as Lake Lochiel) is a small, circular, salty pink lake on the Western Highway just north of Dimboola in Australia. Granville Stapylton, part of the explorer Thomas Mitchell's 1836 expedition into western Victoria, reconnoitered Pink Lake on 20 July 1836.
Location in Victoria
Location Dimboola, Victoria Coordinates 36°25′05″S 141°57′40″E
Type Salt lake Basin
countries Australia
Max. length 2 km (1 mi)
Max. width 2 km (1 mi)
Surface area 45 ha (111 acres)
Surface elevation 250 m (820 ft)
The lake received its name from its distinctive pink colour. The brightness of the hue varies according to the level of rainfall. Until recently it was assumed that red algae created the pink hue; however, recent research reported by Australian Geographic describes the colour as result of a pigment produced by the Salinibacter ruber bacteria. A rest-stop overlooks the lake's basin.
Salt has been harvested from the lake since the 1860s and on average 20 tonnes a year are harvested by the Mount Zero Olive company working in conjunction with the Barengi Gadjin Land Council. Commercial harvesting stopped in the 1970s but was resumed after negotiations between the Victorian State government, the Barengi Gadjin Land Council and the Mount Zero Olive Company in 2009.

Great place to see some natural wonders in our own South Australian outback. Unfortunately it was dry when we'd visited in early January but still the lake bed was pink enough to enjoy
Ish Ahmed — Google review
Passing by on April 25th,
despite its pink signboard, I would still consider it a fake and not as pink as expected
袁明玥 — Google review
Easy to stop and look at the lake as you're driving into the Coorong. The water level seems pretty low at the moment, but still has a good pink colour. It's hard to take a photo of the pink lake because it's so flat, it's much better in person than the photos. Walking on the salt is fun, just be prepared to get your feet wet. I was fine in hiking boots.
Sad to see that people have left toilet paper, wipes and tissues scattered along the carpark. They take years to disintegrate and really spoil the environment.
Hannah B — Google review
Passing by the Pink Lake, the water appears somewhat pink under the evening sunlight. It's likely even more stunning on a sunny summer day. There isn't a large parking area here, so it's a good idea to slow down and prepare for parking in advance.

Beautiful Natural phenomenon - note : the lake appears true pink if it's clear skies and if the water is but more than your ankle height.
On the day we visited it was passing clouds and water level was quite low - even then look the photos for the beauty it beholds !
Guys, don't forget to collect some salt while you are there - it's the best :)

Mannum Dock Museum of River History exceeded my expectations. There were so many interesting exhibitions full of history. We were there for about 2 hours.
I went with my kids aged 8 and 7, they especially loved the interactive museum where they got to sound the whistle, steer the giant wheel and so much more.
The PS Marion house Puddle Steamer was fun to explore seeing the cabins that people slept in and the kids were surprised to learn that people used to smoke inside smoke rooms.
The kids and I played a game where we found items that had been improved/changed over the years. For example the steel iron has now changed to electric irons.

Lots of interesting suveneers and books about the river and the people who have lived all their lives near the river. Also a lot about the 1956 flood.Another is to see the dock itself and all the Pelicans etc wating just below the dock all redy to catch and feed on fish which come through. I've included a picture of the dock.If you bring it up large the Pelicans can be seen. The second photo is the ferry crossing the river at Walkers Flat not far from Mannum.

Pwrfect to spend time with the grandchildren and catch up the local river history.
The museum is 2 floors of interactive displays. The kids loved it. The noise was all part of the experience. They particularly love it when we went out to the backyard and they climbed on board the PSMarion and checked out the wheelhouse and some rooms were open for us to check out. We could even go inside a cabin to see the accommodation!
There was so much more to see and do here, you will really have to see for yourselves.

What a great cruise we had today, from the moment we boarded to disembarking it will be a memorable day. The staff were all happy and did an amazing job serving many guests, the meals were of a good size many choices, a 2 course lunch is included in the tour price, thanks yo the captain for his great commentary along the Murray River,

It was such a lovely experience and a fantastic way to spend 3 hours. The staff are so lovely and helpful.
Really cool getting to see the paddle boat run from the window in the women’s toot.
Even though my fish looked a bit sad it was still actually very yummy which took me by surprise because I wasn’t sure with how it looked but it was perfect and tasted delicious.
I was a little disappointed that the chives were dried and not fresh because that would have been visually pleasing and it would have added to the flavour more.
But overall a great experience!

Did the value Tuesday cruise and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's a nice cruise up and down the Murray with an informative but not incessant commentary.
The lunch exceeded our expectations in quality, flavour and quantity - all efficiently served hot and fresh.
My coeliac/gluten free wife had so many options and raved about her gluten free battered fish - the batter was so light and crispy.
Recommended for a relaxed 3 hours on the mighty Murray.

Our group had a fabulous time on a sunny Sunday afternoon on board the CaptainProud Paddle boat.
All the staff were friendly and welcoming. We sailed on time and had an enjoyable and relaxed afternoon, taking in the spectacular views.
Our lunch was freshly cooked on board, and the grilled fish, home made apple crumble, and fruit salad were all delicious.

This place has always been amazing and it's gotten even better with the new visitors centre. The food is amazing, the tour guides are fantastic and its just an amazing experience seeing the animals not in small tiny cages like you do at your typical zoos. They are looked after so well.

Better to visit in the warmer weather, it's very exposed so getting out and walking in the permitted areas can be chilly if it's windy. Trips are conducted by bus because clearly, as an open range zoo you could end up being lunch for the lions or other carnivores. I was a bit disappointed because the bus was full and with everyone jockeying to get pictures, if the animals were on the opposite of the bus to where one was sitting it because difficult.

Amazing experience from start to end. We did the cheetah experience which also included park entrance. The experience was great, getting up close and personal and learning a lot about how these animals are looked after and the conservation efforts for them.
The park after that was just as good, with easy to navigate facilities and paths and informative guides on the busses and at the animal talks! Excellent all round.

What to say about this beautiful safari experience we had. Definitely once in a lifetime you should visit here. What a beautiful management and lovely staff out there. Without any queue we bought the tickets and went into the beautiful safari bus and we saw so many different animals in this safari
Children had good sight of all the animals and we had fun filled day. We went on Anzac day and it was open. The shop is amazing and lovely cafe inside and outside.

First ever visit, and very impressed. The new buildings are really nice, and I will definitely be back once the accommodation is built. We did the "Lion 360 experience" and it was amazing to get so close to these beautiful big cats. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience. It's a must go place in Australia🇦🇺. The volunteers were very informative. Safari experience was amazing you can see all the exotic animals in the habitat real close. It's like Jurassic park feel when gates open and close.Only negative thing is wait between the buses.
Overall very nice 👍👏😊.

Pretty awesome to see the animals they have there.
I think if you took comfortable shoes and spent the whole day walking to see the animals instead of the bus, you might see the animals more clearly. On the bus they have it's hard to see over people's heads who are in the row over.
On the bus they have a man explaining things about the animals which I found interesting.
The three men who work on the bus were really nice. They even helped with putting my grandson's pram under the bus and taking bk out multiple times.
I enjoyed seeing the monkeys. They have such a big enclosure. It was actually snack time when we went to see them.
You can take your own food and drink as there are picnic tables to sit at if you don't want to buy food there.

Been to the old Monarto zoo, this is a whole new and better experience.
Was a windy hot day but was well worth it.
Level of care shown towards the animals and the environments for them is impressive.

Took our Son and Grandson for the day. The whole family had a fantastic time. Great tours and amazing tour guides. Very knowledgeable and more than happy to answer questions. Price was great. And the kids loved the souvenir shop. We are already planning our next visit.

This place brought me back to nature with an outstanding trail and wildlife environment. Actually we have 2 options : walking or sitting on the bus. I went on the public holiday so have to be in line for such a long time to wait for the bus in each station because if you choose the trail, there are 3 animals you cannot see. Absolutely will come back next time to enjoy a whole trail and revisit my animal friends.

Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Which is exactly what you expect from the largest safari park outside of Africa! There are so many different animals, each with a unique story that your tour guide will run you through as you drive through the park. The guides are knowledgeable and you can tell that they truly care about and have gotten to know the animals. We also saw emu's and an echidna walking around the park! This would be an excellent experience for any animal lover.

Great experience. The volunteers were very informative and enthusiastic. Only negative would be the wait between the buses (it was full from few stops so replacement buses had to be sent to pick up the passengers that were left to wait for the buses). Oh and the walking trails not friendly for prams, or any little ones that have only just started walking as it is uneven.

This was a great day.. The safari is excellent and the staff and volunteers are very helpful and informative. The cafe was fresh and clean with a great variety to order from and the gift shop was excellent in variety and price. I can't wait for the new white Africa exhibition. We will definitely be back....

We LOVE the Monarto Safari Park ♥️ Thank you to the staff for all your hard work and efforts in maintaining the park and keeping the animals healthy and happy.
It's a fantastic place for long weekend walks - a unique opportunity to recharge your batteries while enjoying the scenic views and connecting with fauna!
I recommend walking and only take the bus when you need to. If you are not rushing, then consider you'll need 3-4 hours if walking and not making long stops.
There are two cafes but note they close at around 3pm on weekends.

What an amazing day! I HIGHY RECOMMEND doing the animal experiences. We did the rhino, giraffe and 360 lion. Unfortunately the lions didn't come up to the cage but Monarto zoo re booked us and gave us free zoo access. Seeing the animals in large open spaces was fantastic such a great life for them. I'm 1000% going back and do the giraffe experience again! It is worth spending the extra money! Tour of behind public access was good and informative! Can't wait for the 3 elephants to have their new happier lives at Monarto soon and very much looking forward to staying at the still being built Monarto hotel!
A must see for young or old!

Best to go on a day temperature wise, early to mid 20s.
Staff friendly, bus ride gets awesome views of the animals that you can't see from the platforms. Tour guide very knowledgeable.
Only critique is the first place to view was approx 20-30min walk. Should be closer so everyone is not waiting for a bus straight away.

Monarto Safari Park is a must-visit! The open spaces give the animals plenty of room to roam, creating a truly immersive experience. The variety of wildlife is impressive, and the guided tours offer fascinating insights. It's a fantastic day out for families and animal lovers alike!

Loved the experience especially for my son. The safari bus runs every 10 mins, however when we went, there was no waiting for the bus.
Ample parking and cafes inside the park. Can easily spend an entire day inside the park. Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended

An amazing experience especially if you have kids.
The tour guides are wonderful and explain the animals really well. The bus makes it perfect to get around as its 12km of walking. You can still get off the bus at certain points and back on if needed.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Monarto Zoo. The experience is like going on a safari.
We decided to walk to the outpost and catch a bus from there. The person serving at the outpost was extra slow, and it took over 30 minutes to serve us our hot chips.
Additionally, we recommend extra bus services as the buses were full and we couldn't get onto one. We had to line up at one of the bus stops for over 30 minutes before getting on a bus.
Peter A — Google review
This park is relatively new with alot of potential.
You have a choice to either walk the trails of abt 12kms in total, bus it around or use the stops to your advantage. Courtesy buses run every 10mins from certain areas.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit i decided to trade in my daily pass for an annual pass.
Now i can go back and capture the animals at my leisure.
Worth the visit and the price.

Had an awesome day at Monarto beautiful animals the volunteers all very friendly and full of interesting knowledge of the animals and their habitats the bus drivers are all friendly had a nice lunch even with the emu’s company lol. I will return when the elephants enclosure is up and running and they’re building a hotel overlooking the zoo which should be fantastic for tourism in SA. The giraffe feeding and the carnivore display from the zoo keepers were sensational !!

Our family celebrated an 80th birthday here and we cannot fault the food, staff or setting. From our first enquiry, staff were quick to reply and very open to our requests for taking family pics prior to the meal and bringing in our own cake. The meal was paced out well and all were absolutely delicious. All staff were amazingly attentive and didn’t rush us to finish. On a wet wintry day, the slight car park water issues were kindly relayed to us before any potential issues. It was a perfect venue for a birthday celebration and we will definitely be back.

We needed a Langhorne Creek venue that was offering something more substantial than platters and pizzas so we ended up at Lake Breeze Wines. The staff were lovely and the winery is gorgeous! There was plenty of space between tables which was appreciated as we were a large group that had not caught up in a while. The food was excellent. The wine tastings are a must as well.

Friendly, welcoming staff, set in a beautiful venue.
We had a platter for two that was absolutely delicious and filled my self partner and daughter, washed that down with a couple of local beers and a few wines. When it came to settling the bill we where shocked with just how affordable this random lunch stop cost.
I highly recommend stopping in.

Beautiful estate. Staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and inviting. Booked for the "rare and fine" flight and it did not disappoint. Cost of flight was offset when purchasing wine. Another plus side was they can arrange shipping for your purchases (at a cost of course). Definitely worth the trip.

This was a great Winery. Husband enjoyed the detailed information about the trees around the property. Lots of history. Staff were exceptionally pleasant, smiling and happy and willing to assist.
A really lovely setting to just relax over a wine with cheese and crackers. As my husband was driving, the staff kindly provided him with a latte, whilst I tasted the wine. It was a bonus to have the cost of the flight included with the purchase of our wines.
Perhaps on our next visit we may indulge and do a tour.
Thank you Yalumba.

If you're in the area, definitely stop by. I took my partner here for a tasting experience for her 30th birthday and was not disappointed. The hosts were accommodating and professional. The selection of fine wines was nothing but delicious. The picnic they also provided was enjoyed with not a crumb left and the stunning architecture made the experience even better.

Definitely one of the best wineries in the region. Yalumba has a great range of wines for all tastes, and I would recommend their rare & fine tasting. Other than that, we've been told that they have some tours of the winery to visit the factory and learn about the wine production. However, those must be booked in advance so we couldn't make them.

We recently took the 'Yalumba Unlocked' experience. Even though, it was a last mintute booking, they honoured the request and we were given almost a Private tour by Helen. She was amazing at showing us the Cooperage and answering our endless questions. It was a beautiful experience to see the history behind this amazing Family owned Winery. The tour was followed by tasting few of the finest wines accompanied by a tasty cheese platter. Definitely recommend for a more personal experience of the Winery and to get a glimpse of the family's story!

Final stop of the day and in my opinion, the best stop of the day. This is still a family owned business and I understand that it is the largest family owned vineyard in Australia. The grounds are not as vast as Seppeltsfield Winery but does not lose out in terms of the ambience. It gave me the impression of stepping into a home of a landowner with a very nice casual patio and intimate cosy tasting room indoor. Started off with the intent to do two flights - Best of Barossa tasting flight and Yalumba Rare and Fine tasting flight. Started with the Best of Barossa flight and at the end, decided to forgo the other flight as can feel the effects of the Bold Reds and I am the only driver. The Vine Vale Grenache is exceptional. One of the best Grenache I have drank so far. I was expecting something light (my impression of Grenache) but this is plush and bursting with flavors. The Eden Valley Syrah is a typical Shiraz, nothing that surprised me. But the next two - the Paradox as well as the FDR1A Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz blend are really really good. Another two exceptional bottles. Interesting to note that the Grenache and Paradox are from the valley floor (lower grounds of Barossa) whereas the Eden Valley Syrah and FDR1A are from Eden Valley. Accordingly to the sommelier, valley floor wines tends to be more robust and full bodied as it is hot day and night whereas wines from the upper Eden Valley tends to be more delicate and light-medium bodied as the grapes has time to take a breather from the heat at night where the cooler breeze comes in. Very good tasting experience.

We booked the cooperage experience which is amazing, you get to know the process of how to make oak barrels. Kym the cooper is very knowledgable, love how he describes the tools and everything! Daniel is very friendly and knowledgable about the wines, personal fav is the Viognier!

Had the most amazing tour experience at Yalumba Unlocked! As a novice to SA and the amazing cellars that are available, Yalumba was definitely the right choice!
We were met with a glass of our choice prior to the start of the tour. Then our tour guide, the marvellous Tracey, started what was to be an incredible historical journey through the buildings, grounds and the family that is Yalumba.
The cooperage was fascinating and something we previously knew nothing about! I’m still stunned at the length of time it takes to make a barrel! This was followed by a visit to the Signature Cellar containing all the famous Yalumba barrels. The most interesting part of the tour for me was standing in Tanks 11 & 12! Hard to fathom we were standing in what was once a huge concrete tank of wine!!
What better way to finish off the experience than with the best wine tasting ever complimented with a platter filled with all things yum!
The wine selection for the tasting was great! We even got a Tawny at the end to finish it all off!!
The Yalumba Unlocked experience is certainly value for money, as well as being a great touristy adventure.

Absolutely beautiful setting. We had booked an early Father's Day lunch last Saturday. We arrived to see a beautiful table prepared outside as requested. The grandchildren were welcomed by all staff. Everything was so clean and superbly presented. The seafood plate and pizzas were really good. The Dulcie sparkling and red blend Tamblyn complimented our food. Eva and her staff did an outstanding job. We will definitely return. One of our group joined the Wine Club while we were there ... he was so impressed with the quality of their wines
... particularly the reds. 5 stars all round. We really felt welcome and our day was made quite special by all at Bremertons.
Tip ... if you book in advance they will do all they can to be ready to welcome you.

Not dog friendly for those who wish to bring their dog. You can't have your dog at the seated table area outside, only on the lawn, and no barking!!. We weren't alowed to sit on the lawn in the shade with our dog because we were told that we had a table booked, so we had to sit at the table otherwise "walk ins" might think the table is vacant and they are too busy for that. We were also told that the lawn was reserved for another group (the staff yelled at us loudly in front of other customers to MOVE off the lawn because the other group were going to be there soon, no one showed up) This was the plan I overheard the staff saying behind the bar. Even though there was plenty of room, and the kids were happy playing in the shade, we had to move to our seats in the sun without our dog. Not very accommodating.
When standing at the bar to order, I could hear the staff talking loudly about me in an unkind way making me feel awful for even suggesting that we have a nice lunch on the lawn with 6 kids and 3 dogs.
Other customers watched in awe of the situation, and came up to ask if we were actually ok so that says a lot about the treatment from the staff.
We frequent the Langhorne Creek Wine region at least every two months and its not the first time we have been unsatisfied at Bremerton. The other wineries have 5/5 for staff service.

We enjoyed a superb afternoon of wine, gin & food here at Bremerton today. The cellar door area is just lovely, quite a large area all up, with indoor, covered outdoor & lawn options. The staff were all friendly, happy knowledgeable and prompt to serve us. We had the Mediterranean platter, Pâté and a pizza all were so fresh & tasty. They also did a gluten free pizza base with some garlic, oil & salt which was awesome. The Gin flights hit the spot with the ladies and we enjoyed the several wines we tasted (recommend the Sauv Blanc). Would like to have tried more wines but I was designated driver today!, will gladly return.

Probably one of the best known wineries in Langhorne Creek. Their range is incredible, and bespoke wines are amazing. A beautiful outdoor area, which is dog friendly, although we could only do tastings at the bar, so the dog owners remained outside and enjoyed a glass of Sauv in the afternoon sun. Definitely worth another visit!

Neat small market, just out of town that services locals with quality fresh produce…
Certainly not cheap, most items are either more expensive than a store related item, or no cheaper…
Not a lot of choice - but rather a niche range of items.
Whilst very busy and slow, coffee was not good - rather just OK :(
Purchase sourdough bread was great, again not cheap, but certainly worth it.

Another place to give me a reason why I love Barossa Valley. Nice little shops and lovely surroundings. Unlike other farmer's markets, or Sunday market, this market has more shops for small goods and fine food. They still have fresh vegetables and fruit shops, but more shops are focused on fine food. Eleni bakery is a good example. They have fantastic ciabatta and focaccia bread. I regularly drive to this market once a month for their bread from Adelaide. I also love fruit & veg shop, where they sell delicious Riverland fruits. Good coffee and breakfast are available, too. Most shops are indoors, so very handy even if it is raining in winter. Another benefit of this market is the vinyard next to the carpark. You can see beautiful color in Autumn. A great place to visit all year round, and if you are a tourist in the area, don't miss this market out! Remember this market only opened on Saturday morning.

The Big Rocking Horse is a popular tourist attraction in Gumeracha, located just outside of the city. The Horse was built in 1981 and is 18 metres tall, making it one of the tallest wooden structures in the world. What a wonderful few hours spent at the Big Rocking Horse. Nominal fees to climb up the World's Biggest Rocking Horse and to enter the petting zoo. Beautiful fauna and flora small little walk with the kiddos.
We also had lunch at the cafe and enjoyed it. Kids finished mostly everything.
The Toy Factory has really nice wooden stuff and naturally made items. Superb to pick birthday party favour or just something quirky for your home.

Took the family out to their first time at the Big Rocking Horse at Gumeracha.
For $2 per person gains access to climb to the top of the Rocking Horse.
After that we went to the Cafe for lunch. Ordered a hamburger for Barbie and me, and the boys shared chicken nuggets and chips.
Next stop was the wildlife park for $3 per person.
Overall it’s good value and price for a family adventure.

Quite a nice little place to take your family out & about. $2 dollars to enter into the gaint rocking horse, there are many ladders to advance up, and elevate down. So make sure to wear the right shoes, clean cafe, and even a tourist house to buy souvenirs.

Get out here. It was a great visit. The staff were amicable. The animals were beautiful and the kids were so happy to feed the animals and climb the horse which was awesome. A good stop to stretch the legs and support a local attraction.

Rocking Horse is a truly wonderful picnic place to visit with kids. The presence of a love park adds an extra touch of charm to the surroundings. The calm ambiance creates a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. Additionally, having access to a toy factory adds excitement and entertainment for the children. The staff is incredibly friendly, ensuring a pleasant experience overall.

Plenty of parking, a playground, cafe, toyshop, petting zoo and picnic area. Could use some barbeques and a few extra tables and chairs in their grass area but all in all a good place for a wholesome family outing. Don't let the goats take your bag of feed.

After 5 years and a covid, the number of animals here seemly are not too many as before. But all animals in animal park are too cute and the smell is ok, not bad as i thought. It is only $4 for entrance fee and $2 for animal food. This is a good place to visit, relax and watch cute animals.

Nice spot for a day trip.
Kids love climbing the horse. $2 per entry and you get a certificate that you have climbed the biggest rocking horse in the world.
The cafe there is decent with some regular items. We have some chips and gravy which was good. Recommended to take your food and picnic there.
Plenty of parking available and kids friendly.

Lovely place. Gift shop is fantastic many wooden toys from spinning tops, doll cradles, trucks, rocking horses & much more. Choice of food is great & beautiful little spots around to sit & eat. Situated in bushland which is perfect. Highly recommend 👏👍😉

A great little gem to visit. Nice scenic drive. Cute wooden toys for sale. Nice sized animal enclosure to feed some goats, llamas, ducks, peacocks, an emu (who didn't want to take any food lol) and some wallabies to name a few. Give yourself about 1.5 - 2hrs here.
Also has a Cafe if you don't bring your own picnic. Heaps of parking, even for buses.
To climb the wooden horse, be ready to climb ladders. We mistakenly thought it was stairs all the way. It's not.

We had a great time, the goats are very cheeky and cute, the kangaroos were great. We had a fun time looking at all the cool items in the shop and got some lunch in the cafe. Of course we climbed to the top. The kids had a great day out, and the new owners have made some wonderful improvements, we can't wait to have a chance to go back again.

The toy factory museum was amazing, It takes you to your childhood memor, I hope they keep the place open. There is a small animal zoo, the entrance is very cheap. There is a toilet and some food available on the site, and the parking is big. We also had a peacock 🦚 in the parking by our car. The young boy in the reception was super friendly and is doing a great job.

We were here on Sunday (23/07/2023). This is a place where kids and adults both can have a good time. The Big Rocking Horse claims to be the world's biggest of the sort! You can pay $2.00 to climb to the top of the Big Rocking Horse and get a certificate!! There is a small wild life park with a $4.00 entrance fee! Animal food bags you can buy for $2.00 each. There are a small range of animals but still good enough for a quick visit and to take photos with the animals and feed them. Snowy the Goat can be cheeky! There are Peacocks, Ducks, Wallabies, Kangaroos, Australian Alpacas, Goats and Emu. Not to forget the talking parrot! When we went to the park it started to rain so we had to go to the warm and welcoming cafe! Great service! Chips and gravy were so yummy on a cold and rainy day and the coffees/ chai latte were so good. Perfect temperature! When the rain stopped they let us go back to the park using the same ticket! All the staff at the souvenir shop, park and the cafe were so helpful and friendly! Souvenir shop got lot of interesting hand crafted toys and board games and a variety of souvenirs. A must visit place on the way to Barossa!

Great location for a family day out , or even a causal couples date. Heaps to do from climbing the rocking horse. A lovely cafe to sit for a meal or beverage, or you can even go in to admire the wildlife animals , fun to feed them for only $2 a bag of food which is plenty for the furry friends to enjoy you. They even have a great toy shop you can grab yourself a little momentum or purchase a hand made wooden toy 🧸
Lovely destination to seriously suit all ages and groups.
Equip with plenty of seating area and even a play space for the kids that is fully fenced.

A great find for smaller children, but best to go early to avoid the crowds. Our kids enjoyed getting up close to the goats, roos, peacocks, alpacas and ducks.
The Cafe served good food at very affordable prices but be prepared to wait.
Staff were very friendly.

An amazing place for the whole family to have fun, especially for the kids on weekends. The big rocking horse is quite scary for some adults because of its height but interesting for kids.
There is a toy factory and souvenir area with lots of pretty items. I have bought some magnetic and finger puppets as they're so cute.
The relatively airy cafe and bakery even sell ice cream and fairy floss. A simple zoo with gentle and friendly animals helps the kids get closer to nature. There is a small playground for children as well, with tables and chairs for everyone to rest in or a small picnic.
The parking lot is quite spacious and airy. The toilet is not so bright but clean enough.
Thanks!

It was a bit outdated , yet we had a lot of fun here.
$2 entry each to climb right to the top of the rocking horse , not advised for kids under 4 as the climb is up and down ladders. My 5 year old managed but was scary to watch from under her. However you also receive a certificate to say you climbed it. ( Great value for money.)
Also $ 2 entry each into the petting zoo and $2 for a bag of food to feed the animals .
Kangaroos , Goats , Llamas, Sheep and Peacocks !
We did this on a $10 budget for myself and one child.
Great value for money and some amazing pictures.
There is an on-site Cafe also the Toy factory which you go into to get to the animals.

Prancing Pony Brewery has quickly become a prominent fixture in the local beer scene despite being only 10 years old. The brewery and restaurant, located just off the beaten path, offer visitors a chance to witness the magic behind their acclaimed fire-brewed ales. Recently relocated to a larger shed at 42 Mount Barker Rd, Totness, Prancing Pony continues to draw attention with its exceptional brews.
Popped in for a beer and some snacks. Cool industrial warehouse style brewery, with a few quirky design choices. Really tasty beer and yummy snacks. Introduced Dad to frickles for the first time!! Chicken was delicious too.
Rachael Angley — Google review
Our first visit to Prancing Pony Brewery promised an atmosphere of relaxation and culinary delights. Eager to sample their offerings, we ordered a variety of dishes, including meatball pasta, chicken tacos, and wings to share.
Unfortunately, the meatball pasta left much to be desired. Its taste was off, reminiscent of being reheated in a microwave, with dry meatballs and overcooked, mushy pasta. The chicken tacos fared slightly better but failed to leave a lasting impression.
The shared chicken wings were deemed average, lacking the wow factor we had hoped for. However, amidst the culinary letdowns, the saving grace of the evening was the Dizzy Donkey cider, a refreshing delight that stood out amidst the mediocrity.
As we washed down our meal with a less-than-pleasant cocktail, we couldn't help but regret our menu choices. The aroma of the pizzas being served to nearby tables only intensified our disappointment, as they appeared to be a more promising option.
In conclusion, while Prancing Pony Brewery offers a relaxed atmosphere and some standout beverages like the Dizzy Donkey cider, the food fell short of expectations. With regrets over our menu selections, we can't help but wonder if opting for the pizzas would have provided a more satisfying dining experience.

Prancing Pony is a beautiful brewery with a soul. They have a range from light and easy drinking to hippy and intense, and variations to satisfy almost every beer lovers palette. The service was friendly and while I didn't order any of the wood fired pizzas they looked very yummy!
Also some cows live right next door.

Went for a look see. Heard plenty about the place but never been before. Plenty of beer on tap. I'm a non drinker but my daughter tried out a few glasses. She enjoyed what was on offer. I tried it all as a sip but did nothing for me. It's nothing flash but I'm sure it would be a hoot and a holler on the night. They have quiz night on Wednesday and other things on given nights. It would be worth exploring. We did not eat there, early afternoon , but saw a few with take away and watched the end of the football between magpies and lions. Close game.

This is my new favorite local beer brand expertly brewed near Hahndorf. Friendly staff will help you through a nice selection of German style beers. I love the Helles beer and the Weisse bier is pretty good too. A special edition minikeg makes a great social addition to a festive gathering.

Brilliant food, even better beer, fairly priced, get a bunch of mates, order the wings, and enjoy quiz night on a Wednesday.
The apple cider is very good, made with 100% apple juice. The piper is also very nice.
I got to meet the owners a lovely couple who have made a great place for the local community to hang out.

We are tourists from Singapore, and our AirBnb host recommended Prancing Pony as being kid friendly and with good food.
We loved our afternoon 'tea' here. We had pumpkin soup, fries, and fried chicken fingers, all of which were excellent. The pumpkin soup in particular was outstanding - the pumpkin taste shone through, accentuated with a hint of herbs (parsley?), perfect for a cold and rainy winter's day
I loved the Piper West Coast ale as well - wonderfully hoppy with a delightful long bitter finish.
My kids couldn't stop devouring the fries and chicken fingers, both of which were tender inside and remarkably crispy outside.
Finally, service was prompt, professional, efficient, and always cheerful. Even the staff clearing our wiped-out plates did it with a smile. We regret we never got to know their names (feedback - give them some name tags?)
5 stars for sure, and we will recommend it to friends who pass through the area.

Came in today to celebrate 10 years of Prancing Pony. Was a great atmosphere, local radio outside ( games for the children ) Brilliant singer inside ( did not get his name ) Food was very tasty & plentiful. I had the wings for 1 & side of chips, had to bring some home was more than enough. Great beer as always also brought 4 tins home. Hope to be back in the New Year. Usually manage 1/2 a year but definitely more often, got to try the Pizza too

If you're out for some awesome beers and bites, this is definitely the place to be. Superb ambiance with friendly staff for sure. Many varieties of beer are brewed fresh on site. The best one would be the Indian red ale which has an outstanding flavor profile. Other types of beers like Zeppelin, Hopwork Orange and the Piper stand out closely as really good beers are best enjoyed ice cold. Suitable during the sweltering Australian summer. Chicken wings.. hmmm it really is out of this World. Do choose the honey soy or the spicy Buffalo wings. Finger licking good and the best compliment to the beer. There are many more food items on the menu worth trying as well. Pricing is quite reasonable for an awesome experience. Will definitely visit this place again in the near future.

It’s a wonderful place with a great vibe. Music, good food and crisp cold beer. A wide variety of their own brews. Staff were very friendly and recommended some brews to us.
The family-run farm shop, Beerenberg Farm, sells homemade jams and chutneys as well as strawberry picking in the autumn and winter. The farm is located in the Adelaide Hills and is a great place for kids to pick strawberries.
What a massive upgrade this place had. Love the modernised interior. Everything looks so posh now. They even expanded the ice cream section to include more flavours. Strawberry ice cream was so creamy and still the best. They even do shakes. But it was quite diluted. Strawberry farm for picking is just next door and they have very juicy and sweet strawberries.. Or you can just buy them right off the shelves.

If you like strawberry picking and jams, this is the best place to go. We have been coming here but this time is to get the jam for our families and friends who were just visiting Adelaide. They made a great revamped of the place as they added cafe for customers to enjoy the food and strawberries, made it bigger for the shop too. We loved the different jams like blueberry, strawberry, raspberry, blue honey, apricot and orange marmalade. Very delicious for a reasonable price. Worth it for giving gifts too!

Beerenberg is just beautiful. They have thought of everything in their renovations. The variety of products is extensive. The young lady who served our breakfast and then later provided us with tastings was friendly, knowledgeable and obliging. Breakfast was lovely although I wasn't a fan of the shortcrust pastry on the pie. My husband's rosti looked so good too. Can wait to come back with family.

This is a beautifully designed, and well appointed destination.
I'm so glad that we have something this worthy of a visit, not far from the city of Adelaide! I was wowed, thoroughly impressed by the renovations, since I was here last, while the cafe was under construction.
We spent an idyllic half a day here.
We started off with breakfast, then had our coffees, and desserts. Their house made ice creams and waffles, were a hit with the kids, and the plating really impressed me.
The kids had a lovely time picking strawberries. If intending to pick strawberries, definitely try to visit before the weather gets too warm.
After having our fill with the strawberries we picked by hand, we had lunch in the cafe.
The pies we tried, are touted to be made from the sauces, available for sale in store. They were bursting with flavour, A must try.
The staff were very polite, and helpful. They really made me feel at home.
I am sure SA is proud, to have such a quality establishment, that will be a pleasure for both tourists and locals.
Especially those with kids, who are looking for a lovely, fuss free, activity to entertain the little ones, for the school holidays.
I'm looking forward to come back again for the food, if not for the sweet freshly picked strawberries! 🍓
Well done, to the staff at Beerenberg!

It's part of the history how Adelaide started. 129 days' of sea voyage with 199 seasick German, led by a captain who needed to ask around on how to get there. Pleased to see the Paech family's success. The choc-coated strawberry is my top choice, truly delicious

Plenty of parking and a very well organised and beautiful experience.
We loved the scone with the botanical jams (we bought back the strawberry and rose) and the beef pie with beerenberg sauce was delicious. The teas are loose leaf and worked a treat with the scone.
You can buy the 30g mini jam jars for 90cents each... what a steal. I packed them into my socks for carry on purposes.
Would highly recommend visiting.

This is a tricky one. This is a place that you want to give a good review to as it has a lot of hype and it’s a cool place to visit.
The shop was good and it’s good to see all of the products that you can get. We bought some jams that you don’t see in the shops. So that’s positive.
However, the food and the dining experience let it down. The menu options are limited, there were no real dietary options and the food just didn’t taste as good as it sounds on paper.
It is also so busy, so expect a wait for a table.
On a positive, the staff were friendly and good to deal with. We will probably give this place a second try to see if this was just a bad day.

So. Much. Fun! The kids had such a great time picking strawberries and contests as to who could find the biggest! A lot has changed since I was last here and I love the new spacious cafe and gift shop. The food was great! We stopped at a playground on our way home so some of our strawberries were a bit squished, but just made some jam!

🍓🌿 Delightful Family Outing🌿🍓
If you're seeking a memorable outing that combines wholesome fun with delicious rewards, look no further than the Beerenberg strawberry farm. Nestled amidst picturesque Hahndorf German village, this farm offers an enchanting experience for families and friends alike. The $5 entry fee is a steal for the joy it brings. 🍓 Abundant, Juicy Strawberries!!! The star of the show, of course, are the strawberries themselves. Shiny, plump, and bursting with flavor, these strawberries are a testament to nature's bounty. At $11.99 per kilo, they're not just affordable but also an excellent value for their quality.
👩🌾 The best part? You get to be a part of the harvest! Pick your own strawberries straight from the bushes, with the freedom to indulge in a few along the way. It's an interactive experience that fosters a deeper connection with the food we eat.
After working up an appetite, head over to the on-site café for a delightful treat. Indulge in creamy, refreshing ice cream that perfectly complements the sweetness of the strawberries. It's the cherry on top of an already perfect outing.
👧👦 can have Kid-Friendly Fun here! our visit to the strawberry farm was an experience to cherish. It's more than just picking strawberries; it's about creating lasting memories with loved ones, savoring the simple joys of life, and appreciating the wonders of nature. We'll definitely be back for more berry bliss!

At first we didnt know this place, we stopped by just because we saw so many people picking something. So we stopped by and it was strawberry.
4 of us decided to go in and pick our own strawberry and it was the most sweet strawberry i ever eat. OMG it was really sweet like sweeeeett.
We end up bought 3kg strawberry for $12 per kg. 1 kg finished the same day, the other 1kg was not that sweet after over night. Dunno why. But we will come back again here, they have really nice and helpful staff.

Beautiful vineyard, great service. What I don't like is the wine tasting experience is more like restaurant dine in. $12 for a standard restaurant serve size wine to taste, i.e a bit of wine for three types. $20 for a small cheese plater to share.

This winery was the first stop on our tour and set the bar extremely high. My parents and I joined a tour where we could pick our own stops and we were all so pleased we chose Hanhdorf Hill. Vishal was passionate and knowledgeable and looked after us fabulously. We bought most of our wine from here and had the pleasure of watching a little of the grapes being harvested before Vishal very kindly brought us in some grapes to try with the matching wine.
We paired our wine flights with a cheese platter which was just the right size to leave room for more wine!
Do not pass this place up! The views are gorgeous and the wine even better.

My husband and I had our first experience of tasting chocolate with wine and it was incredible. The choco vino experience starts with a very knowledgable explanation about each piece of chocolate (milk to dark chocolate) and the combination of it with the chosen wine. One of Australia's most renowned landscape painters, Hans Heysen, lived and worked his magic at this historic home in Hahndorf. It contains many original works of art which have been lovingly preserved and are open to visitors between 10am and 4pm.

Hans Heysen was one of Australia's premier landscape artists and the tour of his home, his art studio, and his works was informative and uplifting. Volunteers led the tour and the opportunity to see where Hans and his family lived was enjoyable. Nora, Hans' daughter, an accomplished artist herself was well represented in the tour. It is a great way to spend a couple of hours. Book ahead to ensure your place on the tour.

WHAT A GORGEOUS EXPERIENCE! Honestly, this was an experience, not just a place to visit. We did NOT go into the home, but we paid the $5/person to walk the acres and acres of grounds. The "artist's walk" is definitely worth it, if you love nature, wide open spaces and sunshine! We then had coffees and scones with jam and cream at the Cafe. The CUTEST, most serene Cafe in the Hills, for sure! Emily the manager is just delightful. The atmosphere feels clean and inviting. Best scones I've had in Adelaide so far! We will definitely be back, even if just for the Cafe.

Worth the fully guided tour for the background info on all items. My only beef was that it was such a large group of equally interested visitors, that it was difficult to get into some of the smaller rooms all at the same time.
Great examples of both Hans & Nora's works, meandering grounds and a lovely little Cafe.

Visited here with some friends and took the artist's walk. This walk is a bit over 4 kms of undulating terrain. You get a good insight into where the painter lived and worked.

A very interesting tour of a culturally important location that was enthusiastically presented. The gardens were also a lovely place to relax beforehand.

Mother’s Day High Tea
Today my sister & I took our 93 year old Mother to a High Tea at The Cedars. We had the most beautiful of days. The event was held in the dining room of Hans Heysen house. It was set up so elegantly with lovely tea cups and every detail was covered, right down to the bubbles, the delicious sandwiches, petit fours, tea and coffee. As we are mothers, lovely Tory presented us with an array of beautiful posies from the garden. It was such a delightful experience…everyone serving us were just amazing. After the High Tea, we wandered through the gift shop and then we had a pot of tea & coffee at the Cottage Cafe…. Our day was so special…. Thank you to Tory and her team at The Cedars, it was such a wonderful day!

This is a magnificent place to visit.
What a talented and gifted man.
His daughter was just as good.
The history here is excellent.
The views are beautiful.
It's definitely worth the short drive to Verdun.
I truly recommend to go here for the tour.

Definitely worth a visit. Lots of original art, plus you can immerse yourself in the home and studio off this celebrated artist

I knew nothing of Hans Heysen except I knew I loved his paintings. The knowledge imparted by the guide, Celeste, was comprehensive and filled in all the gaps in my knowledge. The garden, in mid winter was beautiful, and the tea room was perfect. Tea on a china cup and saucer that matched topped off a wonderful morning. I will return.

Our visit to the Cedars was the highlight of our South Australian visit. Beautiful house and gardens, incredible art and history and delightful tearoom. Our guide was enthusiastic and personable and she made the history of the home really come to life.

Book both the guided tour and Devonshire Tea ahead of the visit! You receive a warm welcome, great tour guide, and you know you are experiencing wonderfully preserved, living Australian history....where that history was made ..... and lived. Fabulous!

Have to admit this visit wasn’t my choice but I was so glad I went. I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely an experience it was!
Such a loyally preserved capture of time by the very knowledgeable volunteers who keep this artist’s home, studio & family memories alive. Well worth your time but I strongly suggest booking in advance for the tour.

Unexpected discovery…hidden in the heart of Adelaide Hills. Enjoyed the historic tour, art masterpieces on display and the garden. Lovely way to spend an autumn morning, with a cuppa coffee amidst the lush landscape

We had a wonderful time exploring and learning about the talented artist, Hans Heysen and his daughter, Nora. Our tour guide brought it all to life, with intimate stories about the family. It is truly a South Australian treasure which is well worth a visit.

Delightful tour and lunch on a beautiful but very busy day. The volunteers were rushed off their feet but did a fantastic job under difficult circumstances. Beautiful house, interesting studios and lovely lunch/coffee.

Thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour through Heysen's studio and the family home. We had a bite to eat at the Cafe beforehand, and the quality and presentation of food was impressive. Will definitely be back to showcase this little gem to our overseas or interstate visitors!

One of those places you pass by your whole life without ever stopping at. So I finally did !
A beautiful property preserved to capture a fascinating family. Both Hans and his daughter have galleries on display. The tour covers the studio on the hill and also the family home. Guides are very friendly and knowledgeable.
I recommend buying tickets on their website which includes the option for a gorgeous afternoon tea with scones afterwards.
Take the time stop for a visit next time you visit Hahndorf.
Well worth the effort!

A great place to visit if you want to learn more about one of Australia's most notable artists. Our lovely tour guides were very sweet and made the tour so enjoyable and knowledgeable. There's also a nice little Cafe off to the side which was really nice.

We booked an 11am tour on line and after a short wait we were taken on the over one hour tour through the Heysen property, including the Studio and their house. Our guide, Robyn, was pleasant and informative, explaining the life of Hans Heysen and his daughter Nora through their paintings. This place is well worth a visit if you come to Hahndorf.

Hans Haysen - The Cedars has a very historic background for South Australian art culture particularly.
I strongly recommend 60 minutes guided tour ($22 Adult entry ticket) if you are interested and have time. This guided tour gives you access to studio and house internal visits with special access to art collections.
You can still visit the garden around the house ($5 entry) or do a self guided tours ($17) with access to some additional facilities.
Local cafe at this domain is also nice to spent time with natural environment around for such a mindfulness experience.
Great day out with family, friends, or even just on your own! Super easy to get to if you're staying in Victor Harbor or surrounding areas. We loved all the Australian animals! The kangaroos are super friendly and we could have spent the whole day feeding them, and a friend from the UK was very excited to pat a koala for the first time. Gorgeous little gift shop too. All around a good day out.
Kodi Jackson — Google review
We enjoyed our visit here. Kangaroos are everywhere, they just roam around freely and can buy pellets from the shop to feed them. Koala experience is included in the entry fee which is great. Highly recommended for families with kids. The staff were also polite and friendly.

We visited the park on Easter Sunday, had really good time. It was nice watching reptiles specially crocodiles and feeding kangaroos. The kangaroos are big but quite friendly. You can pat the koala and hold the snakes too. Nice shop and toilet facilities and hand washing spots.

Such an incredible experience! You get to get up close to so many animals! The kangaroos and emus roam the place freely and will come ask for food. All animals looked well cared for. The chance to pet the koala and python with the Handler's instruction and supervision was amazing. All staff were very friendly and professional. It was the most amazing day!

Love, love, loved this place. Super cute animals. Lovely staff. Fabulous fun patting the koala. All proceeds go towards upkeep of the animals. Fabulous austealian gift shop inside with bits and pieces you won't find elsewhere. I got a lovely soap dish whose design was from a local man

There were many students when we visited this zoo. It's a medium size private zoo. Quite a number of animals in the enclosures. It's one of the nicest and rather a clean zoo with kangaroos, ducks, roaming around freely. The souvenir store sells many beautiful Aborigines artwork like bowl, plates, trays and many more. Ample parking area.

Very impressed with this privately owned park.
Very well priced and presented. Wonderful, friendly kangaroos and good presentation of other Australian animals.
I took my japanese visitors and they loved it too.
Definitely worth visiting, especially with overseas visitors.

Incredible experience with the opportunity to feed kangaroos (many of them) and touch/pet koalas (no holding, in spite of what your cruise your days). Nice, spread out and seems like a very comfortable environment for all the animals and birds. Not at all a "zoo" or captive feel.

Had a great experience at Urimbirra wildlife park during my 2nd weekend Victor Harbour trip. Had close encounter with many Australian wild animals. Animals are treated and taken care very well by the staff. Prices are very reasonable at the shop and entrance fees too. welcoming and friendly staff. Definitely visiting back again.

Great wildlife parks especially if you have young children. Kangaroos are very tame and small children have ease feeding them, my 4yr old loved it.
Also get up close and pat a Koala. You can easily spend 2-4 hours here

Nice little wildlife park with a wide range of native Australian animals. Its more of a couple of hours rather than a day trip. Staff are very friendly and allow you to touch alot of the animals.

Oh my we loved our experience here😍 The kangaroos were overwhelmingly hospitable haha! Very few parks offer experiences to feed animals like it does here. The birds are lovely too especially the macaws, they enjoyed playing with us🥹. Entry was cheap compared to other parks too. Definitely worth a visit in Victoria Harbor!

One of the best animal experiences in SA. Always a great time here and awesome value for money.
Weekdays outside of school holidays are very quiet and perfect for young ones. Grab two bags of feed just in case.

Urimbirra was a great place for the kids to feed the kangaroos! We missed the koala feeding unfortunately but had a good time with the Roos and looking at the limited other animals. Would like to see the return of more animals but was a good day out for the kids. Gift shop had a great range of souvenirs and toys for the kids.

It's a lot bigger than I thought it maybe.
Lots of animals and birds to see.
You can feed the Kangaroos.
You need a good half day to get round and see it all.
Good value.
Nice staff.

What a wonderful wildlife park. Took my mum who's visiting Australia and I'm pretty sure she won't stop smiling for her whole trip. Not loads to see but the roaming kangaroos and the koala encounter keep you occupied for hours. The price is also great for an adult ticket!
Granite Island is a small island with a rocky coastline that can be accessed by causeway. It is popular for its penguins and whale sightings. The walk around the island provides beautiful views, but it might be challenging for some as it involves an invigorating workout. There are places to rest along the way and stops where visitors can take in the picturesque scenery. Horse-drawn carts are also available for those who prefer not to walk from Victor Harbor.
Had the pleasure of visiting Granite Island early one morning, on a beautiful, sunny day.
We crossed the bridge onto the island, before undertaking the full walk around the island. The place was relatively deserted, allowing us to only cross paths with others on a couple of occasions.
The walk itself, which reaches impressive heights in parts, offers grand views of the open ocean and surrounding islands and mainland. The island itself is also pretty cool, displaying some impressively sized boulders, relics of ancient times, as well as an array of flora and fauna.
Overall, the walk is clearly marked and reasonably easy to navigate. There is obviously uneven ground and some climbing/descending, so care needs to be taken, even though the walk isn't excessively challenging.
Additionally, this is open terrain with cliff faces aplenty. Make sure to keep any children under close watch, as there's ample opportunity to venture into dangerous areas.
Overall, we really enjoyed our wander around Granite Island and, if we were locals, would utilise this space on a regular basis.

Beautiful island to explore. Easy walk over to the island or catch a horse drawn tram for a fee. The walking tracks are not to difficult.

I’ve been to Granite Island more times than I can count but it never grows old. It’s often windy. The walk around the island is a decent workout. Beautiful views to be seen all around. It’s a nice walk getting over from Victor harbour or there’s the option of sitting on the horse drawn cart which is $15 per person one way. Haven’t spotted a penguin here in many years. Used to see them a lot around 30 years ago.

Loved it. Great for a spot of dolphin watching and a lovely quiet walk. The horse drawn carriage across the causeway is a treat, or you can walk.

The walk around Granite Island is invigorating. Some of the views are so picturesque! The walk might be long for some, but there are places to sit on the way. There are also signs and stops where you can take in the views.

Lovely little island that is accessible from Victor Harbor town on foot. The walk on the bridge towards the island is enjoyable. The horse-cart is a fun attraction that goes on most days, if not everyday. The small trails around the island are nice and easy to get through. There are some amazing structures to look at during the walk and scenic views for photos. Visiting the island is a must when going to Victor Harbor!

Beautiful island. The walk was reasonable. Some stairs and rocky paths but mostly a fairly easy walk. Nice walk across the bridge to get to the island. Cafe and toilets at the bottom. Island is apparently home to penguins, and also suggests to look out for sea lions, dolphins and whales. We saw none of these animals but still worth the visit.

A lovely walk over on the walk way or you could go by carriage - pulled by Albert!

Beautiful views.
The breakwater was built from granite quarried from the island. There are boulders on display showing the large feldspar crystals and the different xenoliths embedded in the 503 million year old coarse granite.
For entertainment, we watched thrill seeking visitors stepping on the flat rock on the breakwater to get drenched (pictured)

While visiting Victor harbour went for my morning walk to Granite island.
The Victor Harbor Horse Drawn Tramway, known for being one of the last horse-drawn routes worldwide, is a popular tourist attraction offering open-air seating and picturesque views. The tram is pulled by Clydesdale horses that only need to pull around 80kg of weight with the help of rollers on the rails.
I went there around 6pm which is late evening during the autumn. I didn’t see the horse driven cart at all. But you can access this tram path and walk all the way to the island on the next side. A lot of people were doing this. After 5pm, the gate at the bridge is adsived to be kept. So you can open it and go through the bridge even if you find it closed. The bridge is good for some scenic photos.

Beautiful place. We visited on Easter. There were rides and lots of food stalls available. We had a good time. It’s very close to market place. Nice parks with enough sitting arrangements with water and barbecues. We couldn’t do the boat tour or horse tramway, May plan on next visit. A good place to spend time with gamy and friends ❤️❤️

Amazing tourist spot. I would say its a must-go spot for victor harbor. The clydesdale only needs to pull around 80kg weight to get the tram going with the help with the rollers on the rails. They do the job fantastically and the attendants take really good care of them when they are resting. Enjoy the view while you are on the tram and i would recommend walking back, its not far and the view makes it a very enjoyable walk.

The Horse Drawn Tram in Victor Harbor is definitely a must-try experience. The tram is pulled by horses and you can ride it to Granite Island. It's a unique and special experience where you can choose to sit inside the tram or on the open-air top deck and enjoy the seaside views. Tickets are available for one-way or round-trip options, and you can purchase them directly at the ticket center.

What a view. Make sure to put on hiking boots or a good pair of sneakers as best part of the place is 45 min hike around the island. Try to experience the horse cart on the island. The 🍩 place at the front has the best dounuts in the town. Parking might be a problem during the weekend, but there are plenty of off-street parking spaces 360° senic view from the island is the best park.

This is an awesome tram that has been running for a long time. You can go on a return trip to Granite Island or just one way. We decided to walk out over the causeway, have a look around the island and then get the Tram back. It was a lovely ride and we were lucky enough to see a stingray in the waters as we travelled back. The horses are beautiful and they display the names of the horses working each day. Well worth the $15 one way price.

A very unique experience sitting on a double decker tram power by a horse! Amazed to see how strong the horses are and the view from the upper deck was enjoyable. The tram would take you from Victor Harbour to cross over to Granite Island, beyond the end of the bridge. Definitely worth the price and kudos to the hardworking horses!

When in Victor Harbor, take a trip on the horse drawn tram across the causeway to Granite Island. You can purchase tickets to travel one-way or return. There are good pathways around the island suitable for prams or wheelchairs and other foot trails branching off this main route. The island is a great destination for anyone and particularly families with lots of areas for children to explore.

What a lovely way to take a relaxing ride on transport from yesteryear. You buy tickets from the driver. $20 for a return $15 for one way. We walked along the pier, then caught the tram back. Beautiful horses and the drivers absolutely love them. Talking to them throughout the journey and when they were being moved.

First tram is generally at 10:30 from main land. They depart every 40-45 mins (no set timetable as such) up until approx. 3:30pm. purchase tickets from driver (cash and eftpos available)
A must-do if you're in the area if not done before. If you manage to get a tram top seat, you'll enjoy the views out over the ocean as you go over the causeway. Many people taking photos as they walk by. Two of the several horses take turns with shifts during day and they appear well kept.

Great little trip but felt extremely sorry for the horse today as temp was 36 degrees. Thankfully they only did two return trips for the morning before giving the horses the rest of the day off. We walked one way onto island and then got team back, very easy walk...

Well worth it, certainly something the kids will enjoy. I recommend going in the morning as in the afternoon it is very busy. Also you can beat the line by walking over to the island and catching the tram back. Tickets are $15 for adults which includes two kids in the price. Staff are friendly.

Clean and tidy town with a horse drawn tram which takes you over to Granite Island. Dogs can go on the beach here but not over to the island. My dogs met the draft horses that pull the tram.

Nice place to visit, you can take a ride, but some days it doesn't work, so call in advance if it is a game changer for you. If not, you can simply walk around, the most important thing is not to hurry up. Overall really nice place.

Tram ride was great. You can sit up top or inside the carriage if required. If you have children with a pram you can even get it put on board. The tram comes around every 30 minutes or you can walk back from the island if you want too. You get taken to granite island where you can take a walk around the whole island. Some people were fishing. There is also a cafe which serves great coffee.
