Such a magical spot for photos. Every photographer should make the effort to check it out. The angles and light is perfection and late afternoon gives the best effects. I can't wait to go back in the snow. Wow! These photos are just from my phone. The photos of my family from my 5d mk4, are spectacular. it's worth walking to the top to see the view over the mountains.

A must see attraction within the Tumut area. It's a easy drive from Tumut and the drive itself it quiet beautiful. There are forest drives along the way that you may want to explore as well. Just be cautious of the logging trucks as they frequent the same road. Highly recommend this attraction. Also its dog friendly and kid friendly.
Sap Chatterjee — Google review
Incredible place, magical forest and not crowded at all! It’s breathtaking to walk among those pine trees and it’s an amazing photo spot as well!
The sad thing is that they are staring to cut down the trees on the opposite side of the road, but this part is so beautiful that they don’t have plans to touch it.
Maryia Arkhipava — Google review
Was told about this place by a friendly lady at the Information Centre and almost didn't visit. Decided to stop off and found it well worth it. Not too far off the main road, and the size of these trees and their regular arrangement was quite the sight.
Wouldn't go out of your way to get here, but if you're already going past, this is a great place to stop for a quick wander (though keep in mind, it's a forest, so there are no facilities and you'll need to take all your rubbish out with you)

The Captains walk itself is interesting but it is also part of a great park with bbqs, shelters, playground, toilets. Great to amuse the kids whilst you appreciate the cricketing history. I learnt a few things as did my Dad and he knows way more cricket than I do.
Parking is easy right out front.

Great walk displaying all the past to present Australian cricket captain's & the legend Sir Don Bradman.
Brian Clarke — Google review
A must for the cricket enthusiast. A short walk with busts of past Australian cricket captains complete with a little info on each.

Good concept but average facility maintenance for a supposed "must visit" of Cootamundra...thought the Council could at least cut the long grass.
Rob McHenry — Google review
Awesome walking and mountain bike track.
Brian McManus Real Estate — Google review
Unfortunately, the council is doing lots of work at the park, so the grounds are not as good as it could they could be. The busts were very well done, quite close to the subject recommended visit
Richard Murray — Google review
Good idea for a small country town! Also encouraging for cricket fans. It is good to know a few more names and their achievements for Australia and the world of cricket. A nice short walk done in a beautiful park and they have all the basic well maintained amenities nearby!
Nellerichal Sreeju — Google review
If you're a cricket fanatic or someone who just respects the greats of the game, this is for you. It's having some repair work at the moment due to recent floods in the area, but it is still a good place to visit.
Deidre Curry — Google review
While it was great to see all former captains of the Australian Men’s Cricket Teams, it was bitterly disappointed that not one female captain is yet to feature in the walk. Because this walk is NOT called Australian Men’s Captains Walk. There is in fact no mention of gender and yet only one gender is represented here.
We’ve had female test cricket captains for at least 90 years. Why are they not here too?
Louise Walsh — Google review
The park is being redeveloped and it's a bit messy at the moment, but you can still see all the captains. It's going to be great when it's finished
Marie Scott — Google review
Heaven for cricket lovers.. One of the best places I’ve ever visited in my life. Captain’s walk is a beautiful park with all the Australian Test Captains’ sculptures.. their records and stats engraved on each sculpture. Bradman’s Birthplace is about 3 minutes from here. A great historic place. People in Cootamundra are lucky to be part of this heritage. The park consists of bbq, children play area and a beautiful walking path.

A worthwhile stop on the road. Take your time and inspect the old fashioned railway architecture. Even though the bridge was destroyed in a flood, it is still in marvelous shape and gives you an impression about what once was leading technology.
Unfortunately the walkway on the intact part of the bridge is currently closed due to damages in another storm (?)
The bridge can be seen in detail from a lower point of view which can be reached by a little pathway. Don’t forget to check that out.

A piece of history in gundagai. A must see and it needs to be repaired.
Pam Stratford — Google review
Gundagai is a magnificent example of what is great about country Australia and in this case NSW. The town is steeped in history. Beautiful on the eye and warmth for the heart. An authentic piece of Aussie history that has resisted the maul of modernity.
Depicting a famous 1850s bush ballad, this monument shows a dog guarding his owner's tuckerbox.
A great place to stop and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. There are tables to sit and eat or just sit and relax for a bit after taking a break from long drive. The souvenir store is great, with many awesome products, from fridge magnets, crafts to boutique alcoholic beverages. There is also a Cafe there to enjoy a coffee too. Highly recommend this place, when you are on a road trip to stop by. 👍🙂
Xiem Hong — Google review
A nice place to stop either direction during daytime. Little cafe serves nice coffee and fresh sandwiches, the kitchen is closed as well as selling local produce and trinkets. Friendly service from owner, support local small businesses as still struggling after covid.
Grass to lay down on and relax, or table and benches scattered about.
John W Newey — Google review
Such a lovely historical spot to visit. I noticed the old statue to the side, and the new monument has a water fountain around it. Wanted to recreate a photo I took there of a child but couldn't as the old monument no longer has the dog on it and it's been moved onto a larger monument and is surrounded by water.
Beautiful backdrop and location.

My dog and I went to the older and quieter part of the complex to stretch our legs. It was nice to see the cafe/souvenir shop is still operating there.
It's a great spot to have a picnic and purchase treats and/or souvenirs from the shop.
Jaandee Campbell — Google review
Good for a quick stop, folk history and amusing sign. The cafe was shut when we visited. Shame. The dog was smaller than the photos depict.

Lovely shady rest stop. Great shop with lots of gifts and souvenirs. Enjoyed the cherry juice! Friendly staff. Now, there is a Tucker Box to put your own dog on, so you can take pictures, but only if your dog will get up there and sit on it! 😀

Also lovely parklands for you to take a break between all the long drives

Great working museum. The original mail carriage is fascinating. Great examples of diesel locomotives and passenger carriages. $10 entry per person.
Beverley Holmes — Google review
I saw The Dog on the Tuckerbox in the 1980's sometime when driving from Adelaide to Sydney. I think it was in a bit more of a bush setting then. However Australia has changed a lot since then and progress we have. I loved it then and I think it is what we need now, so l believe it has been done well . It is such an Australian icon, and a must see for visitors passing through.
Raelene O'Flaherty — Google review
If needing a rest or a top up of something to eat aswell as a quick look around travelling along the Hume is worth a visit
Darren Borg — Google review
It's an icon because of our Australian history. Some history is presented at the site. There's a dog on the Tucker box statue to take photos of and one for your own dog should you be so inclined. Nice between grass. Some toilets. A bit of dirt to park on which can be unpleasant if the wind gets up. A souvenir shop. Fork and did in in the area. If you've never been it's worth a stop but I would not go to too much trouble. Certainly better than it was 20 years ago.
Bryan McGlade — Google review
Nice place to stop and have a break photo opportunities a little history and plenty of shade . Also small souvenir and refreshments shop there and toilets . Toilets appear to only be open when the shop is .
trevor dixon — Google review
This nostalgia and old bush ballad make this place a nice way to breakup your road trip. There are both Tesla and Chargefox chargers nearby and plenty of fast and not so fast food options within 2min walk of monument. The views of surrounding hills and idealic landscape vista are a great way to calm the mind.

The iconic Dog on the Tucker Box. My second visit, the first being 25 years ago. It's still the same. I love the merry history surrounding it and the numerous poems and songs it is included in. It sits at Five Mile Creek, 5 miles (north) from Gundagai.
There is a mock tuckerbox you can sit your dog on to take a photo.
Lots of parking and easy pull out back onto the highway. There is a turn zone in the middle of the highway, so pull in and out possible in either direction (we had caravan in tow :-)
Jabinda Joey — Google review
Please share some love for the ladies at the Dog on the tuckerbox shop.
They were broken into at about 3am this morning (18/10/2023).
I was looking forward to visiting this shop to buy some presents.
But, it only takes a few to ruin it for the many.
I hope the Police catch the little mongrels who did this.
If you are passing through Gundagai, NSW please just call in and say hi to the ladies who run the place.
Martin Finn — Google review
Pretty cool for some random history of Australia
You also have the dog on the tuckerbox
I wouldn't go too far out of my way to stop in again
Josh Sutto — Google review
Dog on a Tucker Box Gundagai area is an interesting place with a couple of historical Homestead ruins and a couple of old horse draw wagons also so here!
As you turn off the Hume highway near the petrol station, the small road heading to the Tuckerbox, there's road works being done at the moment being (February 2024)...
Unfortunately for us the souvenir / gift store was closed and also I will add there is some tables seating area if you need a rest from driving...
This part below is a copy from the sign in front of the dog statue of most part:
Dog on the Tuckerbox memorial is supposedly based on an
incident that occurred to a teamster named Bill the Bullock on the road to Gundagai in the 1850s. While leading his bullocks team and wagon across a creek five or nine miles from Gundagai,
Bill's wagon became hopelessly bogged in the creek, trying to drag the wagon out of the bog one of his bullocks and then broke the wagon's yoke.
Thereupon, Bill gave up the job and went to have his lunch...
But here, to top off his run of bad luck, he found his dog sitting - or worse - on his tuckerbox...The other bullockies thought the incident a great joke, and one of them supposeally wrote a poem
about it.

Stopped on way back from Albury NSW, a great stop to see and take a break. Brought back memories from when I was a kid, and our caravan trip, back in the late 50s early 60s with Mum, Dad and Sister. You can pull off and get back on highway with no trouble, and the area is big and plenty of room to unwind. There is food, and the little store has different nik naks to buy. Also an antique shop for a look around, not sure if connected to the store with the food. The second photo taken from ladies, so had to take photo, interesting info, gave me laugh. Iconic tourist attraction, worth the stop.

One of the best info centres we have been to many times. Lovely friendly staff, very helpful, very knowledgeable and lovely to talk to. Great gifts and info and souvenirs. Tumut is a beautiful town .
Loved the experience.. If ever one wants to start appreciating the minute details of limestone caves and the various geological formations (surprise surprise - there are more than 2!!), Geoff is your guy to learn it from. Stupendous guide, who enriches your tour experience by a thousand times! Highly recommended, for everyone.. Oh, and the location is also beautiful!
Pratyush Sahay — Google review
My family and I have twice visited these caves. Although they are small, they provide one of the best learning experiences of any cave system I have visited in both Australia and South Africa. That's because Geoff takes his time to explain to his customers what they are about to see in the cave, and how to have the best experience once inside the cave.
I really like how children (and adults) can touch the different rock specimens and taste the water, in addition to exploring in a relatively safe environment. Once they leave the caves they have a firm impression of how valuable and precious caves are.
Geoff is an excellent presenter and adds a bit of humour, but also drama to the occasion - like switching off the lights, and making us aware of how our eyes adapt to the dark.
One of the best features of the cave is that you get to sit down, which means that the caves are brilliantly accessible to less mobile people, including people with disabilities.
Geoff was particularly patient and kind to my adult son who has multiple sclerosis, giving him time to reach the caves and to fully participate in the experience.
The excursion is well-priced.
The information Geoff provides to his customers before they arrive at the caves is extremely helpful as the location is isolated and there are facts one should know before making the trip.
The approach to the caves is breathtaking and makes the long journey worthwhile.
A great initiative, and one which we all thoroughly enjoyed!
I classify this experience as educational. However, if you are a thrill-seeker you need to visit any of the larger, more challenging caves Australia has to offer.
Lauren Howard — Google review
The cave was beautiful and it was amazing to look around. The tour guide was knowledgeable and passed on some great, and interesting information. The reason for the lower score is because of how chauvinistic he was. There were sooo many sexist jokes and he was quite condescending - while I’m sure it was intended harmlessly, it’s 2021 and I expected better. At the beginning one of the participants decided she was not comfortable going down through the steep, narrow entry and, although she said had paid and made it clear she would not be seeking a refund but was terribly scared so wouldn’t go, he pressured her for a good 15 mins while we all sat at the bottom waiting for him to stop badgering her. She was audibly upset. When he finally came down he said “usually I can get women to do what I want, but the charm didn’t work this time”. 🙄🙄🙄
Jess Hall — Google review
Worth a visit. Not so commercialised as some of the more well known caves. Guide was knowledgable but not too flash with his time keeping. I wouldn't go with a young family as the tour was way too long.
Sarah Stewart — Google review
Best cave experience ever, don’t go if you’re looking for a quick walk though. That’s not Geoff’s style. He’s very passionate about what he does that must be respected. Not only was he punctual, he was also hilarious. A+ communication

We visited today and had a great time, there were a few other families and we arrived a little latter than anticipated but the guide was very accommodating. Cave is fantastic and very easy to get around in with only a few steps, they even do music events and weddings in the cave.
Amenities were nice and clean as well.
Matthew Robinson — Google review
We had no idea what to expect as we just followed the road signs to the cave. When we arrived the tour was about to start so we quickly got tickets. An incredible experience. The best part was the tour guide. Geoff was witty, knowledgeable, approachable and engaging. Geoff explained things so well and took his time. He was the best part of the tour for sure. We will definitely go again just to have some more banter with Geoff.

Wonderful trip!Magnificent scenery and Geoff is quite informative and taught us a lot about the cave and the history.

Very impressive experience. The tour guide is funny and knowledgeable. But the atmosphere during the touring was more like a geology class,
The tour guide Jeff is more suitable as a university professor than a tour guide.
Recommen to go if you really interesting in cave and geology.
Remember to bring a jacket, really cold inside.

I recently did a tour with my family. I was expecting that there might be one or two small underground caves and I would have been impressed with that. However, there is a HUGE network of caves and they are STUNNING. The tour guide, Geoff, is very knowledgeable and personable and ran the tour in a way that really made you pay attention to and appreciate the amazing formations. The whole experience went for about 2.5 hours and there was plenty of time to enjoy the caves. Excellent value. Family friendly. Highly recommend.
Bee Elle — Google review
The caves were beautiful and worth seeing. Unfortunately the guide talked to us for an hour prior to going in and then we were seated for 40 min inside the cave prior to being able to look around. The guide was very knowledgeable, however did not "read" the room and was purely focused on delivering the information that he wanted rather than being guided by customers. The experience was only advertised as an hour and it threw out our day and other people's completely out. He became very difficult when we said that we needed to leave and was extremely controlling! Such a shame as the cave is beautiful. Toilets were not working either and clearly had not been for some time.
Rachel Douglass — Google review
When there's more reviews of the tour guide than the caves, you know your on to something.
Well, Geoff is testament- they don't make em like they used to. What an absolute pleasure, we absolutely loved our time there. He was witty, intelligent and knowledgeable- but his enthusiasm shone through second to none.
Great experience 👍 plus the caves were magnificent

Not sure what all the fuss about Geoff is so don't let that put you off. He was great and shared a lot of knowledge. It's old fashioned. Yes times have changed but not everyone has so just deal with it and don't blame him. Wee Jasper is a stunning town one of the most beautiful locations out here. Very happy to see strong adherence to Co-Vid safety for all.
Absolutely fabulous wines and the vineyards are so close which just adds to the amazing experience.
The service is friendly, open and honest.
There is no selling pressure here as the wines speak for themselves. We bought 2019 Viogner 2018 O'riada Shiraz 2018 Shiraz Viogner all up 6 bottles.
This is a must for wine lovers both new and experienced.

A superb wine tasting experience - a must stop place if you are in the Yass Valley area. Very nicely set up with outdoor seating overlooking the vineyards, our host Harry was simply outstanding. Quite poetic that it overlooks Canberra and the Government that strangles the life out of people through red tape, corruption, and "consultation". This icon is an accurate representation of Australian politics.

Long-running place featuring charming miniature buildings in a scenic landscaped park with a cafe.
Great place to visit.
Manicured garden is absolutely top notch.
Replicated buildings from around the world are an absolute delight.
Train joy ride was bit of a wait since train tickets purchased for the right time is not when the train joy ride happens.
Worth purchasing tickets prior to getting there.
Does get a little crowded over the weekend so come hydrated.
Worth the trip down.

We visited on a Sunday and it was not crowded. Very well kept gardens with miniature buildings. There is an international section that features replicas of famous buildings from around the world. Our personal favourite was the international place as there were so many infamous structures that looked so cool with this interpretation. The fact sheets about the facts of the country was really cool. A must come to if you're coming to Canberra!

Train ride needs advance booking.
Found place slightly pricey for the home style were sponsored by someone else.
Fun place..but seriously need to either work on more features for the price or make fun rides available!!

We visited this place for the first time this Easter holidays and I must say it’s a fantastic place . Specially for the kids as they loved how the miniature figures and different symbolic monuments of different nations have been built . Amazing piece of work. A lot of effort has gone into each and every monument over the years. Ticket prices are reasonable . If you are taking your grand parents make sure to ask for the senior tickets as they are cheaper . They had a train ride which is quite fun for the kids.

I was not sure whether this would be worth visiting but it was FABULOUS! It’s quite big and the miniature houses were delightful and the elaborate little people playing cricket, fishing, farming etc were charming. You kept noticing something new. It was very clever. And as a massive garden lover, I thought the real plants and flowers were worth the price of admission alone. I thought some of the beds of tulips and pansies would have rivalled floriade. Just superb.

The buildings detail was amazing coupled with the well maintained gardens made for enjoyable walk around the grounds. The simple interaction with the model's to move was a great touch. Loved the trains.

It’s been over 20 years since I have been back to Cockington Green Gardens. It was a magical place to revisit especially with our young children. Easy paths that were accessible pushing our stroller.
We also enjoyed our morning tea inside the cafe where we had scones and tea. The scones were too doughy but the tea and service were excellent. Everyone was friendly and accomodating from the people at the shop right at the front of the venue and the cafe and the caretakers roaming around the gardens. Parking was easy but then again we got there as they opened at 9:30am. Lots of places to sit down and bring your own lunch/picnic too. And you can also hire a stroller for free too on site. Quirky and fun miniature displays and our kids got a real kick out of all the displays that had the sensor motion capabilities. They also enjoyed seeing the little train and train track in the international display area.

This delightful place just gets better and better over the years. The perfect miniature English village scenes are now just a part of the show. There are also miniature landmarks or characteristic buildings from dozens of countries. The steam train rides are great for kids and there are also some life size Velociraptor dinosaurs in the bushes. The absolute highlight for me is the exquisitely tended miniature lawns and trees - perfect bonsai plants to match the miniature buildings and people. I have recently got into 3D photography and Cockington Green Gardens is a 3D photographer's paradise. Each shot can be made to look like a drone shot over a real village or landmark.
For anyone with a sense of whimsy and charm, this attraction is a must see.

Lovely little outing for an hour or so.
The miniature gardens are a delight and fun, can be muddy when wet, train ride operates sporadically.
We had scones but we’ve had better, not enough jam, cream from a can. Scones seemed store brought not homemade.
Value for money, I’m torn. It’s short but a unique experience.

We went on a 20° sunny day and it was beautiful! More than expected, amazing staff and I have to say it was quite the experience.
Knowing that all the models were made on site blows my mind and I absolutely loved the way everything was set up.
I will definitely be re visiting because I didn’t know there was a train ride that does a lap of the Gardens! My highest recommendation for anyone and any age!

Amazed by the different types architecture all over the world. A little bit disappointed that i did not see China there.
The flower and trees feel a bit lack of maintenance maybe due to the covid. The train is fun but maybe not really for adults.
I would recommended the place for people have little kids. Will not really for repeat visiting if not live locally here. But it is fun for at least ones.
The average cost is $21pp. We spend a bit over 1 hour here.

Nice place to visit if in Canberra, site is open paths are wide and spacious, few interactive displays with sounds and moving trains, there is a train that does loop of site which is nice ride around. As this was winter some of the park was closed off for renovations. Cafe on site. Tourist gift shop also available. Would be a place to take your kids if you had a free day. Also has a picnic and garden area available.

Unique, engaging and entertaining for the whole family. A bit pricey if you are visiting once but the 12 month pass may be a better value if you are planning to visit multiple times. The staff was very helpful. We really enjoyed the international displays.

This was the first time visiting the garden. We went on 23° sunny day and it was beautiful day. Very well maintained and must see attraction of Canberra when you come for a visit. Real care has been taken to make everything look so authentic. I am so glad that we decided to stop by this attraction when heading to Canberra coming from Sydney. There's something about this place which is magical and brings me back to being a kid. The miniature village exhibits were great and highly detailed. Whoever created the displays definitely has a sense of humor. The amount of detail in the miniature models and the touches of humour that makes you look twice at the displays to ensure nothing is missed. The garden also has popular structures from different countries which are cool. Kids should enjoy more, however it's for all age. The garden was surrounded by a very colourful display of flowers. There is also a train ride for the children and a gift shop. There is train, it takes a very small round of the place but it is twice in $3. Ample parking in front. We spent almost 2 hours to go through the entire garden. A lovely place to visit. Highly recommended!
Tip: Book tickets online to get better deal.

I came here with my family and I’ve got to be honest it’s not my thing. I think miniatures are a bit silly but I can’t fault the place much. The garden is well manicured and the miniatures are interesting and there’s a few cute/funny jokes along the way if you look hard enough. I was disappointed with the scones at the cafe because they were under cooked but I can’t fault the staff working there or at the gift shops. They were all lovely and very friendly.
Catherine Francis — Google review
The price is a bit much but if you are into trains or sculpture work it's worth it. They give you a map to look around the place. Easy to find and good parking.
Personally I found it to be a bit boring. I thought it would be more of a garden but instead it most 95% sculptures.
The sculpture work is incredible their is no doubt of that but most was random or repeat items.
The Cafe was pretty nice with brilliant Scones and tea. The train was unavailable 😕
The place really isn't that big which was disappointing. The best part of the sculpture garden was the international part.
Probably good for kids or old people but not really engaging.

The Australian National Botanic Gardens is a peaceful and diverse garden with an assortment of indigenous flora, footpaths and a café. The gardens offer stunning views of the harbor and city skyline, making it an ideal spot for picnics or leisurely walks on the free self-guided tour. Despite some ongoing maintenance that has resulted in minor path closures, the garden remains a must-visit destination that surpasses other botanical gardens like those found in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.
Such a nice place for inspiring, informing and connecting people with the Australian flora!
The Australian National Botanic Gardens maintains a scientific collection of native plants from all parts of Australia. The plants are displayed for the enjoyment and education of visitors and are used for research into plant classification and biology. A herbarium of preserved plant specimens is closely associated with the living collection.
The Gardens also cultivate plants threatened in the wild. This helps protect them against extinction and provides information which might assist reintroduction to their natural habitat.

We visited Australian National Botanic Gardens on a weekday. It has lots of flowering plants, trees and nice walking paths. We also saw many iguanas. We had lunch at the Pollen cafe which was almost full house. There is also an interesting bookshop. We enjoyed our visit here.

A great day of adventure with my little ones. Lots of 'secret' paths to discover. So many interesting plants to see and learn about. We had a great time. Easy parking and paths are very well signed. Toilets are easy to find but may be a walk if you're in the further parts of the gardens.

They have lots of parking which is about 4 dollars an hour. Their is a visitor centre. A large Cafe. They have a rainforest area. A large lawn, a walk to the summit, a rock garden, lots of local animals such as birds and lizards.
Not really good for kids, no parks or interactive things to do. Most of it is shaded. Currently a lot of it is under construction.
Would recommend for the view, Cafe and or picnic.

Beautiful Botanic Gardens within few kilometres from Canberra city centre.
Bus tour was good which cost us $8 per person for adult and if you have kids $5 per kid. Old lady driver had vast knowledge of flora and fauna of botanic gardens. This garden has all the plants and trees available around the Australia.
Little dense rain forest and red botanic garden are the highlight of this garden.
Lots of kids activities during the school holidays.
Parking: Paid
Entry: Free

A small botanical gardens compared to many. It has a circuit that takes roughly 45 minutes. There is a good cafe there which is popular for breakfast by the locals and visitors. Due to its size it’s good for parents with young children. Not a spectacular garden and for travellers really keen on gardens I suggest the Everglades in Leura, in the Blue Mountains and Sydney’s Botanical garden.
Good bathrooms and easy parking. Very helpful staff.

It is a lovely big place to walk around in. Activities for children. The bridges lead to cool and vibrant colours to see. Cafe was booked out to sit down and eat. Got a takeaway and walked around. I did not find a bin so I had to carry my rubbish around. Maybe I missed the bins. Go for a visit with your friends and children and family. 😊

Impressive collection of Australian native plants displayed in collections by distribution, classification, ecological vegetation class etc. Great for plant enthusiasts and also anyone wanting quiet time in nature.
I spent 2 days in Canberra from interstate and went there both days. There is so much to see! Highlights for me included the rainforest gully from temperate Tasmanian through NSW and Qld, the banksia garden and the red centre garden. The cafe and bookshop are great too, and there was an exhibition on so I bought some beautiful botanical art cards. I'm thoroughly impressed by and appreciative of these gardens! I'll be back!

A great overview of Australia botanical habitats. The eucalyptus lawn is rich with the scent of the gum trees and the arid garden looks like you are in the red centre of the country with spinifex and Sturt desert peas. My favourite is the rainforest, amazingly captured in cool, dry Canberra and a magical place to walk through. Keep an eye out for the lizards, basking in the sun or swimming in the ponds.

Not sure what to expect, but wow they rainforest trail is sensational, and seeing so many different plant species was brilliant. The gardens are well laid out and access is easy for anyone to navigate. There was a sign saying, Don't forget to breath, and do you know something, the air was so clean and clear, it would be making you well just walking through the plants, trees and shrubs on the trails, perfect.

The rainforest area is a beautiful and cool area to walk through in summer. Just watch your footing with snakes! The bird life is amazing!
The desert area is the red centre piece of Botanical Gardens...
The Cafe at the entrance is a great place to grad a drink or a feed if you had forgotten to pick them in...
Also a great spot to take the kids and have a picnic and relax with good views...

Botanical gardens of Canberra - beautiful gardens. Well maintained with a quality cafe and great coffee. Plenty of paid parking ($4ish an hour) which goes to maintaining the gardens. Signposting can be improved off the main track, but if you stick to the “main route” you see more the gardens.

The Australian War Memorial in Canberra is a stunning example of art-deco architecture and serves as a visual representation of the nation's gratitude for military sacrifice. This shrine was built to commemorate the 'war to end all wars', even though World War II had already broken out by the time it opened in 1941. The attached museum is exceptionally well-designed and covers Australia's military history comprehensively.
A fantastic Museum and war memorial. Would highly recommend attending if you are visiting Canberra. It is free to the public but you do need to go onto the website a book a time due to covid restrictions.

Honouring the fallen men & women! Incredible place to be. Lots of history and knowledge of the past at this place. One side is the memorial while other is the Army museum which is worth seeing. You will get 2hr window to visit which in my opinion is not enough to see WWI, WWII, Modern Warfare and other sections. Would recommend you book two sessions so you can see everything and soak in all. Love being there!

One of the best places to visit in Canberra, especially for young ones that are interested in military vehicles. Make sure you ask where to park if you want to go around and see the large outdoor vehicles as they are not part of the main exhibit. Still free to access, but it's a lot easier if you drive around the back and park.

You get a real sense of our nation here. I haven't been here since I was a child and wished I'd come sooner. If you think you may be able to visit, then you should it's worth while. There is a last post ceremony at 4:45pm that is also worth catching.

Massive place! Easy to get lost, really need a couple of days in here to see it all. We had a guided tour and our tour guide was a wonderful guy and very knowledgeable and friendly, was more than happy to take me back to the shrine of the unknown soldier and the hall of remembrance as I was late arriving and missed the start of the tour. There were a lot of building works going on when we visited unfortunately so the lift for my partner was out of service as she was in a wheelchair while we were visiting, they did have a mechanical stair crawler for wheelchairs but was very slow.
Would love to come back and spend more time next time

The War Memorial is a great way to remember the fallen and learn about the wars Australia was in. WWI, WWII, Vietnam war, Korean war and many more are included. There are countless artifacts and bits of information which tell visitors about Australia's part in the wars mentioned above. Unfortunately when I visited it was under renovation, although when it is done I will come again and see all the War Memorial has to offer.

One of the most stunning and striking places in all of Australia, the feeling are overwhelmingly sad but great to see the tribute and remembering those that sacrifice their lives for us from the ANZACS to the allies, nurses and anyone that fought in the war for Australia and New Zealand. The information and displays are incredible and intensely detailed, well preserved war artefacts and items belonging to all sides of the conflict and representing all the different divisions of war, the designs and layout is so well illustrated and easy to navigate for any ages and physical abilities. Plenty of helpful and friendly staff to assist you, group tours are free, the iconic poppy on the plaques for the fallen are must do and something from yourself to contribute and be apart of the memorial. I’ve already said a lot about this place, it’s a must visit at least once in your life time either you’re an Aussie/Kiwi or visiting the area, it’s FREE ENTRY and the views from the memorial are breathtaking looking onto Anzac Parade and Australian Parliament House (new and old), you can easily walk there and bus there, parking is available onsite and enjoy a relaxing coffee at their cafe with a whole lot of interesting information surrounding it. This place is literally for anyone absolutely no excuses not to visit doesn’t matter if you’re 8 or 88 years old!

Great as usual but currently being enlarged so a lot of construction work going on. The guide said that at present only about 5% of their collection is on display so they desperately needed more space. Should be well worth the wait.

A classic lookout for the Canberra experience. Gives you a very good line-up of the War Memorial and Parliament House along with the surrounding hills. We did not stay for the sunset, but I would imagine this would be quite good.

After an incredibly disappointing trip up to the Black Mountain lookout to get a view over Canberra (every single vantage point was so overgrown with trees that there was nowhere clear) we decided to try Mt Ainslie. Well was THAT a good move! More lovely views than you could poke a stick at! Paths and steps to different spots. Would perhaps suggest that arm rails might be handy on the stone steps. I get around just fine: but it’s amazing how vulnerable you feel without something to hang onto when you’re on such hard, uneven surfaces. Public areas tidy and well maintained: ample parking.

The only disappointment was the absence of public toilets at such an iconic public place when we were there with a bus full of school students. That’s an oversight that local government needs to address,

Obviously, Mt Ainslie is one of the recommended places to visit when you are in Canberra. If you want to enjoy the entire city, definitely here is the view... Stunning views of the Australian Capital are waiting for you to explore and take pics.

Really great place to get a birds eye view of Canberra. Good amount of car parking spots available, and there was also a small bus selling Ice Cream and other assorted snacks.

The best time to Visit is early in the morning or during sunset. We loved the spot. If you don't have time to look around Canberra on a one day trip you can head to the Ainslie lookout for the best view of Canberra ( The nation's Capital).

Wow, this is my second visit to CBR, and can't believe this isn't the first place people recommend to visit. Aim for 10 min before sunset plus 1hour after. Take some snacks and just observe how the world change around you. With an amazing view.
One of the best experiences, except sunset on Table Mountain South Africa

Iconic view of the Parliamentary Triangle and the city generally. The lookout has been renamed for Marion Mahony Griffin. Good information boards here too so you can see how far the vision for Canberra changed from the original concept.
Martin Witchard — Google review
It's not just a scenic lookout but offers a panoramic view of Canberra where you can see the Parliament House, American Memorial, Lake, and mountain ranges, among others.
Just a short drive from the city centre.
Mera Savage — Google review
The views over Canberra are great from here. Parking is available and the road is well signposted. The only negative is the ice-cream truck blaring music in this scenic area. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Canberra.

This is an amazing estate with excellent food. Having dined around midday on a Saturday, the staff were kind, the service fast, and the food had generous portions with great quality.
The building itself was within a rustic vineyard, nestled in the hills, with an outlook of Lake George (which had water in it at the time of our dining!)
We had smiles all around after our time here, and we thank Lerida Estate for their hospitality. :)

Very pleasant lunch - indeed the squid was a great entree. The views are stunning and lovely to see so much water in Lake George. Main / salads were also fresh & lovely - though lamb & duck were a bit over cooked.

We loved out visit to Lerida Estate Winery. Absolute beautiful place to visit and the team were great. Highly recommend stopping here if you're driving past. Our wine tasting host, Jacka, was very great. He was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed their lunch, except me. I unfortunately ordered the Pork Belly, which I usually love, but it was like eating shoe-leather. Whoever cooked it doesn't know how. Such a shame.

Excellent food, the squid was amazing! All entrees were great, mains just as good. The staff were so friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We will be back!

A gem of a place to drop in for lunch and do some wine tasting. We spent a couple of hours here and had a great time. Alex was amazing at talking us through our tastings. And lunch was light and fresh and super tasty. Highly recommend the calamari. They offer some unique wines and the view out over the vineyards and Lake George offers great photo opportunities.

We had the pleasure of attending a wine tasting session yesterday, and it was an absolute delight! The venue was breathtaking, providing a picturesque backdrop to savor some incredible wines. The staff's warm and welcoming demeanor enhanced the experience, making it both enjoyable and informative. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a wonderful blend of excellent wines and a hospitable atmosphere.

I've driven passed this place a million times and never gone in, what a hidden gem this place is.
It's just off the highway but feels like you're up at the Hunter or Mudgee with the vineyard vista with Lake George in the background.
The food is well prepared and delicious, attentive staff and some great wine.
We will definitely be stopping over again!

Booked in a lunch for our 10 year anniversary of dating to propose, and the day couldn't have been more perfect. The view, the food, the wine and the weather all lined up just for our special day. The staff went out of their way to make it even more memorable for the both of us and we're extremely grateful. We are already planning a return to this fantastic spot.

A really pleasant winery to visit for a long lunch or lazy afternoon away from Canberra. Not too far to drive. Wonderful and friendly staff. Food is absolutely fantastic. Whilst I don’t drink, the reports from my friends about the wine was that it is amazing. Highly recommended this place.

Great little spot for a quick wine as you’re passing through the area. It’s a low key winery, nothing fancy or pretentious. It’s family friendly, with lots of kids around.
The outdoor area could do with a revamp.
Adam Zed — Google review
Dropped in on our way home to Sydney from Thredbo, we thought we’d just have a look but ended up doing a lovely tasting of all the wines on offer. Our host was Theo who was very friendly, helpful and had some great information and thoughts on the wines on tasting as well as their other reserve wines. The location and tasting room is lovely and the restaurant looks great. There’s a charge per person for tastings but it’s fully refundable on any wine purchases. They really do have some lovely and interesting wines especially the estate Chardonnay, Shiraz and a particularly good Syrah. We were there late on a non school holiday Monday and it was nice an quiet for us but it can get quite busy on weekends.

Sophisticated gallery offering high-end wood art & furniture, plus a cafe with classic meals & wine.
One of the most amazing galleries you will ever visit. A must to visit!
Milos Masar — Google review
I recently visited the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery and found it to be a truly remarkable experience.
The quality of the craftsmanship on display is nothing short of excellent, with a diverse range of items ranging from practical furniture to intricate artworks. It's clear that each piece was meticulously curated, showcasing not only the inherent beauty of the wood but also the exceptional talent of the artisans.
The gallery itself is thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to navigate and appreciate each item. I also found the staff to be incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work, which added an extra layer to the experience.
The onsite café was a pleasant surprise. It provided an opportunity to sit back and reflect on the artworks over a good cup of coffee. The service was prompt, and the food was well prepared.
In conclusion, the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery is more than just a gallery; it's a testament to the beauty of woodcraft and an inspiring space for creative thought.

I rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves them. Utterly amazing woodworking! From exquisite small boxes to large cabinets draw the eye for a closer look. Kinda out of the way in Bungendore 20km North on Canberra off the Federal Highway... but a must visit if you are anywhere in the area.

We bought 2 beautiful pens and a case from here for our wedding. Some muppet managed to break one and when we took it back they replaced it for us which we really didn’t think was necessary (we were hoping to maybe get a discount on a replacement). Very kind of them and will be keeping them in mind for future purchases

An outstanding gallery, of great quality!
We were driving through town, mid-week, and decided to stop for a walk around.

The leather shop and morning tea at the Cafe also enjoyable!

One of the best Wood Work Galleries that we have seen and been to in a very long time.
The pieces of art are amazing.
Sculptures are beautiful.
Tables, chairs, lamps for your home
Smaller pieces like banksia holders and some beautiful pens which are outstanding.
There is something there for everyone.
It's a definite must see.
Easy parking.

Just devine. Have visited many times over the last 20 years and I'm always left feeling better for it. The craft is awesome, with many stunning and practical pieces, from one of a kind pieces of furniture to kitchen gadgets. I visited this time to buy my son a jewelry/trinket/memory box for his 16th birthday.

If your looking for STUNNING wood work, this is the place for you!
Wow! The skills shown by the artists here are first class. The works are incredible. From small boxes to a large bed, there is something here to please the timber work enthusiast.
If you want to purchase a beautiful piece to take home, prices range from about $10 for a book mark up to $10,000 for some pieces of furniture.
There are also drawing and paintings as well as wood works.

IKEA FANS:- STAY AWAY.

Exquisite design, engineering and sheer skill in displaying the very best in modern, Australian, Crafted furniture for all. Thick pieces of solid, native wood, carved and polished that will be cherished for generations. You have to get here to See and FEEL the quality of real wood and polish, in a building that really should be listed: even the floors are of polished wood. Take your slippers. The big Merino is in the corner of Hume and, Sowerby St, Goulburn NSW. Nicknamed "Rambo" by locals, the Big Merino contains a gift shop on the ground floor and a wool display on the second floor which it was closed at the time I visited the Rambo, not sure about the reason. The Big Merino, built in 1985. Standing 15.2 meters high, 18 meters long and weighing 97 tones at the time of construction. The complex was opened on September 20 1985. Normally it is not busy but the date I visited it was long weekend and school holidays which made it extremely busy.
Lots of restaurants and cafe nearby to dine in.
I loved the gift shop in the ground floor. The gift shop was full of good quality made in Australia specifically made in Goulburn items. I liked the wild Australian animals made with wool section.

Definitely worth a visit.
An Australian treasure located at the southern end of Goulburn.
There is a big merino gift shop attached to him and from inside the gift shop you can access stairs which take you up inside the sculpture, which is actually hollow. At the top you can look out of his eyes over the town. On the way up, each level is full of the wool industries history.
Great gift shop with lovely staff.
Free parking.
Wheelchair accessible parking and entry
No toilet but you will find yourself right next to the servo which has toilets.

We visited this landmark which is located at a rest stop where there are petrol stations and cafes. It is a very tall Merino sheep statue indeed and great for a photo momento.

Man, this is one big concrete sheep. I think it's concrete; I confess I didn't go up and eyeball it or touch it. If it is concrete, it is actually a pretty darn impressive sculpture, not merely for it's size but also it's visage. It's... a merino. The gift shop underneath it's behind is stocked with woollen items galore. I am a hankie guy and needed hankies and they had none (I know, I know, you don't get woollen hankies, Paul, and I know this, I was just... hoping because they do sell cloth items). Friendly lady serving me while another shopper admired handbags.

The park has something for everyone!
- a great playground for children
- magnificent gardens with hundreds of plants flowering
- large, huge & unique trees
- picnic tables & chairs
- public toilets
- pathway around the park… be mindful of some of the large tree roots have lifted small sections of the path ie if you have mobility issues and/or a mobility aid

Lovely park in the heart of Goulburn opposite the main street and Goulburn Soldiers Club. Lots of nice walking paths, toilets available and 45 degree angle parking. Nice playground for kids aged 2-10 with ample shade and benches. Playground has swings, seesaws, slides, train structure and a few climbing pieces. There is also a small greenhouse you can visit in the middle of the park.
Constructed to honor the fighting men of WWI, this monument also houses a museum of the military.
Great views over the wetlands and Goulburn. The new museum is situated in a small garden of rosemary and native plants - very nicely laid out.
Interesting to see some of the explanations on the training facilities that were in Goulburn before the young guys got sent off to meet their fate in First World War. This senseless loss partly explains why the town has a memorial and museum on such an excellent piece of real estate rather than a hotel or church.

Museum and tower were all closed up at 11am today, during school holidays, which was rather disappointing. We found out when we arrived and a printed notice was up, after we'd looked on Google maps and found it should be open.
Good views from the base of the tower but we would have liked to see inside.
There are a couple of information signs outside to look at. One talks about Aboriginal history but seemed like more of a political statement.
A few walking tracks seem to exist around the hills coming off the road.
Accessible parking.
Edit: we returned and got a view from the top. The guy had just locked the door at 3:55 but opened it up again for us for 5 minutes which was great.

I would highly recommend visiting on a day when the winds are not so bad,as parts were closed which was totally understandable due to safety.
We will go back as we never got down to the falls, however the trails we walked were great.
• Plenty of parking
• I would suggest visiting the Fitzroy Falls visitor centre in the National Park for advice regardless of your fitness level and check the National Parks website for all alerts and relevant information.
• And obviously pack the appropriate gear before heading off and wear the appropriate footwear !

Fairy Bower falls is a short, easy walk not far from the township of Bundanoon. The walk is mostly flat with a decline on the way there and some stairs throughout. The falls themselves are very close by the trail, making this a trail that should only be done in dry weather.

Stunning place to visit! We had booked for lunch and had the most exquisite experience there. Loads of charm sitting amongst the books, near a stunning stone fireplace. This newly purpose built barn venue is packed with attention to detail that instantly immerses you into a great relaxing mood. Great wines and food to simply die for. We had the blue swimmer crab linguini with chilli and garlic and it has become one of the most memorable dishes I've ever had. I cannot recommend this venue enough! It's a must visit!

Unfortunately we didn't get to eat or have coffee here, as it was fully booked. There were no Reserved notices on the tables though which caused a moment of confusion for all.
The range of books is similar to the Oxford St location, I was actually expecting a fair bit more of the book barn. Overall though it's a very lovely location, and I always enjoy browsing at a Berkelouw.

I want more place like this! Beautiful country setting, a barn full of books and great food.
Initially I thought there’s a café there, not aware it’s a full fledged restaurant. We were told the dinning space is more like a cafe setting in the morning.
I wish there are more casual sitting space through the day just for coffee/snacks and book browsing.

There’s a large collection of interesting coffee table books. Great for picking up gifts. The food is outstanding.

Beautiful new and used book shop with attached restaurant on a lovely winery estate. Coffee was takeaway only when I visited which may be because they were prepping for lunch service and are usually fully booked.

Absolutely beautiful building and a wide range of 2nd hand books.
Food is very average but it has a lovely atmosphere. Wine was average too unfortunately.
It's ashame the food wasn't better.
Highly recommend making a booking for a table.

The fries we ordered were worse than MacDonalds. The pork bao buns were awesome. The pav looked stunning but extremely subtle in flavors.
Staff not very friendly
The place looked great plenty of books.
Not somewhere I would return too.

Family-run vintage & antiques market & a quaint tea room in a renovated building.
A must-see if you’re in Bowral. This isn’t an ordinary antiques store - where a lot of average items is haphazardly piled around, and you have to hunt for things worth buying. Here, everything is artfully and tastefully arranged, and of high quality. Even if you don’t intend to buy anything, it’s worth a walk through, like a museum.
It’s also massive! It just kept going.
Simon Hill — Google review
Amazing vintage items available for purchase. A wonderful little slice of throwback memorabilia. Really enjoyed spending the morning there. Want to go back when the tea cafe opens back up.

Whilst I didn't actually find anything to buy here, I had a great time looking at everything! Very interesting place and you can spend quite a while here looking around. I enjoyed how nicely everything was presented.
The staff were very friendly too!

Yes, five stars for the tea room tucked away in Dirty Janes. Try a high tea, we couldn’t fit the morsels of delight in. Instead we indulged in a masala chai and I had a large hot chocolate (the sweetness is delicious). And two warm, soft scones with strawberry jam and thick cream (with vanilla). It’s a tiny treasure. And remind yourself to take your time and breathe in the fragrant tea aromas.

What a great place! It's filled with "rooms" full of unusual, bygone era and quirky things. A great atmosphere and something for everyone.

I have never been to an antique store that looked so good. Everything was ordered, clean and cared for. I love the concept of a department store for antiques. Great variety and customer service. We also found some really, really nice things that we wanted to buy! We settled on something small and a gift for a family member.

Lots of cool old stuff and a bit of nice handmade stuff too. Very nicely staged. Staff were pleasant.
There is no longer a cafe here but there is apparently one nearby.

This cafe is tucked inside a large antique shop that looks like they have multiple vendors (like a little market place). It is famous in the Bowral area.
The cafe itself is cosy, full of charm, character, with antiques everywhere.
The food was pleasant and the scones were beautiful (not dry or like paste).
The service was professional and polite with an air of the service you might expect from a bnb.
This is a must visit for out of towners.

Such a beautiful experience. We did a bit of shopping and at the end felt like some tea and scones-we hadn’t made a reservation but the beautiful staff were so kind and welcoming. As soon as a table became available they whipped in to action to clean it and get things ready.
The food was absolutely beautiful and the staff were so lovely and accommodating!

A few weeks ago we travelled to Bowral for the day. We live in Wollongong so not to far.
Beautiful day and we shopped for hours.
We stopped at Dirty Janes for lunch.
We missed the lunchtime rush. Served very quickly by friendly staff. We had burgers, so tasty. Definitely a good choice for both of us

Wow! I've never seen a bigger antique / thrift shop before. It has a variety of things which everyone can enjoy including antique, local products, jewellery, clothing, furniture as well as plants! They sell both brand new and used items in different shops. They also have staff roaming around if you have any questions about any item. However sometimes it's hard to get information if they aren't familiar with an item especially when the owners of a specific shop aren't there.
They also have a Cafe anjacent to the shops where you can get a nice coffee or food in the middle of browsing. Food was a little bit expensive and average but coffee was good and location is convenient.
I will be happy to come back again some time.

Looking for some upmarket second hand gear? How about something unique or hand made? From clothing, to antiques, records/vinyl LPs, jewellery through to lamps and furniture. It's all here.
There are enough variety to keep even the blokes interested and happy.
The products are quality and the prices are set to match.
There are several cafes nearby if you need to take a break in-between.
The staff are friendly and will package your purchases very well so they don't get damaged in transit. The service is impeccable.

Such a unique experience it’s part of the Dirty Janes tradition. I’m sad to see the old tea rooms gone. I like the shops they are great worth a look but I will now have to go elsewhere to eat.

Very nice place to visit particularly for sportspersons & specially for a person who played or plays the game of cricket. A thrilling experience to visit the place, to see all the content and to a place where a legend like Sir Don took birth, spent his childhood and played cricket at the adjacent oval cricket ground. Very impressed.

Great cricket museum, wonderful tribute to D Bradman. Loved the "Greats" portraits, however was very disappointed with the way they were displayed. I couldn't stand back and admire them as you would a large painting. I feel the artist has been disrespected. Please don't let this stop you visiting though.

The Bradman Museum is a cricket lover’s feast of history and nostalgia. Along with the amazing collection of old cricket equipment, photographs and video from the Bradman days, there is plenty of informative displays and memorabilia from every other era to entertain visitors of all ages. This is all situated in the centre of Bowral beside the beautiful old ground where the legend all began.

I'm a cricket fan and love the history of cricket. This museum was amazing. It exceeded my expectations. Next time I will spend 3 hours here and read everything that was accompanying the displays. It was an epic feeling to look at the actual bat Bradman used to make his first century against England. They had a ton of memorabilia from important cricket events. It was just so enjoyable.
The staff members were lovely. They are cricket fans as well and you can enjoy a nice chat with them.
The location is perfect at Bradman Oval. Wow. I can't believe that's where Bradman started playing. Make sure you visit his childhood home across the Rd when you go there.
Looking forward to coming again. Thanks a lot

What a fantastic museum! Can easily spend hours wandering, reading, learning and being amazed at the artifacts, paintings, memorabilia and information. Beautifully laid out and endless information to educate all ages. We loved every minute, wished we had longer to take in the videos and audios. Museum of Australian aviation with aircraft, artifacts & viewing platforms in a hangar-style space.
As a big naval aviation fan I was really looking forward to coming here and it did not disappoint! There was tons to see lots of memorabilia from ww1-now and everything in-between! Aswell as a plethora of aircraft especially helicopters, I really enjoyed seeing the sea fury and venom but unfortunately the main aircraft I came to see (A4 Skyhawk) is currently moved elsewhere. The reception staff are friendly and let you do your own thing and look around and the gift shop has plenty of awesome things! The simulator was also super fun, but the best part of all is that entry to see all this is completely free!! Definitely recommend to anyone interested traveling by the area!

Really cool place with a bunch of aircraft placed in chronological order. It tells you facts about the aircraft as well as stories of people who've flown in them. Entry is free as well and it was not congested. Restrooms available and everything was clean.

A great place to visit to see historical Australian Navy aircraft of both fixed wing and rotary.
There are many boards with detailed information about the aircraft, their use and the shops they were carried on. There are cut aways of engines and weapons.
The Huey helicopter flight simulator is run and educational allowing one to experience flying that aircraft.
There is a gift shop also.

A great place for history and military history enthusiasts! Especially kids! It is a place if you love to see real size war planes from World war to unmanned planes in display! The helicopter flying simulation was a real hands on experience of flying... My son loved it. It is free to all, accessible easily from princesss highway and some good collection of planes, scaled models of warships, gigantic parts of ships, old artifacts and videos of those times. If all this is of your interest, do definitely visit... Kids will love it...

DON'T MISS A VISIT TO THIS IMPORTANT MUSEUM.
Cassandra on reception is fantastic very helpful and pleasant.
Displays were a bit dissapointing with a lot missing and others in the process of being moved,
I'm sure it will be great again when new displays are finished.
The facility really needs to have a cafe and refreshments DOWNSTAIRS AT (GROUND LEVEL).
During our many visits, I've never seen the cafe open and the steep stairs makes access impossible for many patrons.
Presentation of the displays is excellent and very professional, WELL DONE.
PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SMALL LOCAL BUSINESSES.

The museum has changed quite a lot since our last visit (back in the 1990s). Have always been impressed with aircraft and more so by naval aviators, so it is always good to read their stories and look at the aircraft that they flew.
Our visit was on a warm Saturday morning, earlier in February 2023. Entry is free, however you can make a donation on entry.
Easy to walk around on the ground level, although I didn't see a lift to the upper level for those who are less mobile... there may be one there, but I didn't notice it.

Hampden Bridge is a suspension bridge from the 19th century with a single lane for vehicles, made of wood and situated in Kangaroo Valley. Its construction resembles that of an English castle, complete with picturesque turrets and arches. The sandstone material adds to its beauty and has become a popular spot for photography. Additionally, there is a nearby small town where visitors can enjoy lunch. Overall, Hampden Bridge is worth the drive to see this stunning piece of architecture firsthand.
This picturesque bridge in Kangaroo Valley is straight out of ye olde England. Beautiful sandstone construction with turrets and arches you could be entering an English Castle. Worth the drive to see the bridge and you can get down to the river and get some really brilliant photographs.

One of the most beautiful sandstone bridges I’ve seen. It has a nice viewing area from which you can get a good look at the bridge and the lovely river below. Traffic isn’t too fast over the bridge so it’s somewhat pedestrian friendly too. A great piece of history

Lovely stop off point for us this afternoon. Broke up the long 3hr journey back to Sydney. Stretched our legs with a walk down under the bridge by the stream and had a paddle in the water. Next time perhaps if we have more time rent a kayak ($60) and spend a couple of hours exploring down stream. Great location just outside Kangaroo Valley.

What an amazing bridge. We took the time to drive across, stroll the beautiful walking paths beneath and of course gain a picture or two.

I was really surprised how nice the town is and the bridge is a lovely piece of local history to see. The river below it is very pretty with sand banks and high sand stone cliffs. The pioneer village is just the other side if it too and worth a look

You can swim in the river, but the water is cold and there is a current. The bridge is suspended with a wooden deck, cars pass through it one at a time, and there is a lane for pedestrians.

The only surviving wooden 19th-century suspension bridge in Australia, and it's completely original. What a great piece of history!
Traffic across this bridge is one-lane, and there's a small pedestrian path (not a lot of room). It's easy to walk to from the town of Kangaroo Valley (footpaths along the way)
❗ I've included pictures of the signage, great history!

Beautiful old stone bridge a short walk or drive from Kangaroo Valley town centre. You can walk across the bridge just be careful to walk to the side and watch for traffic. Hidden adventure here for older kids!
Turned up after reading the reviews expecting a nice time but less excitement with teens.
However there are two "walks" that are much more adventurous than a paved path as you climb up through rock crevices, into caves, up and down ladders and it was great! Although not animal related it is a great extra to this entry. Definitely come wearing good shoes. Everyone loved it. Not suitable for small kids so perhaps why this hadn't been mentioned in other reviews.
The zookeeper chats were all fun and we all enjoyed getting to touch various animals.
Really worth a visit.

Amazing!! My son and I loved it. The instructors Ella and Joe were great and so friendly and helpful. They made my son, who was a bit wary of heights (9 years old) feel so at ease and completed stages of the course I don't think he would have if they weren't there. Check in was so easy as well as we had booked online. We will definitely be going again.

Lovely family zoo. Make the effort to attend one of the animal shows so you get an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the animals.....touch, hold and even have personal photos with the animals for $10 each animal or $30 for photos with 4 different animals. We had family photos with a baby alligator, koala, python snake and a small possum.

We were so lucky to find this place. No one around us knew this place and I wasn’t so sure about it. It was amazing!
Not too big and not too small for my kids, the age btw 5 and 10yo. The entry fee was reasonable plus we were able to use discovery vouchers. Some of parts were under construction but still a lot to see. It will be even more fun for tree top adventurers.

I loved that unlike other zoos this one is not over crowded, a vast number of animals and a beautiful location next to the lake.

What a great Zoo. Such beautiful surroundings for the many animals. Wonderful koala, snake and lizard encounter. But make sure you take plenty of $1 coins to feed the tiny monkeys a nut. I visit this shop weekly. The shop's name describes the best what the shop is. The delicatessen section staff is most helpful to cut and pack the way you need it to be done and the variety of product excels the variety of major chain stores. If you visit just once - you will visit again and again.
I was not impressed with the take-away fish and chips section that opened a year ago or so. Having the fresh produce fish is a bonus lost in the tasteless way it is prepared/cooked.

So last Sunday 9/7/23 I was in nowra fresh fish & meat market.
I brought nearly $200 worth of seafood and red meat.
I got 1kg of “apparently fresh Australian prawns” they weren’t fresh at all!!!!!
We have been in the meat industry for nearly 30yrs and when we got home, we peeled and tried your tasteless caulky prawns… they went straight into the bin.
How many times have they been frozen then thawed… I wonder!
They were disgusting and we’ll never be back
And we use to deliver lambs to you guys!

I use both your stores because if the freshness and the variety I love good quality food the only disappointment is that there is no meat packs anymore. I understand the economy is bad but I personally would not mind an increase in the price to still have this pack available

4 stars to the meat market. Usually get all their fish and meat from there as it's always fresh. Unfortunately getting squid from there wasn't fresh. When I got home I seen the sticker label it said product of China. I thought this store was for local or at least Australian meat and seafood. We cooked it anyway and it was disgusting. We have caught our own before so we know what fresh and quality taste like. We spat it out. It was so mooshy. we even tried to over cook it a bit to he sure it was the quality. Very disappointed in not knowing it was from China as it didnt state behind the glass on display before i got it. For the squid options, definitely ask first where it's from first. Very upset the rest will be going to the dog Unfortunately :( but I do highly recommend this place for all other options. Especially the fresh fruit and veg market just below them.

I'm a regular down here. Such a magnificent place to visit. The great train hall has a very large amount of locos & cars. The indoor display is very good.
The local food & drink options are plentiful. The museum's cafe serves a selection of hot and cold food, and the nearby cafes & eateries are well worth a look
If visiting when an event is running (eg Thomas Day Out), it can get very busy. Otherwise, the crowds are minimal, making for a relaxing outing.

A Wonderful collection of trains, new and old to look at and appreciate. My group is here for the “Day Out with Thomas”. We got to go on the Steam Train ride which I have done before and always enjoyed. It cost $35 which I think is reasonable. There’s good toilet facilities. The only thing is a member of our group couldn’t go on train ride because he was in a wheelchair which was a pity. Overall it was great visit and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, especially for the children.

Good for the entire family. My son (5) loved it. There is a little train ride for free on the grounds, train play equipment and picnic area. Wear appropriate shoes as there is a lot of walking. Interesting to learn about the trains. There is a small Cafe on site but also food to buy across the road.

What a wonderful place to go for train lovers or children on the autism spectrum who love trains. This particular week was the Thomas and friends show. It's a beautiful place located in a lovely town and set out over a large area with a lot of train carriages to walk through and see the changes over the years. Plenty of parking, lots of bathroom facilities and nice Cafe. A lovely train ride on an old steam train and very friendly, helpful staff. A very enjoyable experience.

Fantastic and well laid out. Wonderful to see the Comet, Australia's first air conditioned diesel train, and the prototype electric double deck power car C3804. Staff were polite and helpful. Great area for kids to entertain themselves. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Had a great Easter Sunday with a steam train trip from central tithe NSW Rail Museum Aston Thirlmere. After the 1.5 hour trip through southwest Sydney we arrived at the museum and had a leisurely stroll through the extensive collection of historical steam trains and related rolling stock. Everything form the first engine over the harbour bridge to the carriage used by the Queen on her first visit to Australia. Good cafe and shop plus plenty for the kids to do. Also close to nearby cafes and the local pub.

Never knew this place existed. A definite must if you love trains. History is amazing to see how far we've evolved from the simple steam engines to the monster diesel power engines! Loved the tour and the small running train is always fun for the kids. 🚂🚂😁👍👍

The museum is very well layed out and has a great display of rail history. Original prison, postal, mortuary and luxury train carriages can be viewed. Also enjoyed the ride on the steam train! Very nice day out with the family, staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about trains.

Went for the 'Day out with Thomas' experience at the train museum. Absolutely loved it. So well organised. Lots of activities included in your tickets - mini train tides, rides on toby, jumping castles, painting and play areas. My son loves Thomas and he had the best day. Lots of clean toilets and baby change facilities too. The food options could be slightly better, but no significant concerns. Next time maybe I'll pack something from home 😊 100% recommended if your little ones love trains.

I work for Sydney Trains and this museum is mind blowing and very educational. I have a fascination now for Steam trains and I walked in feeling like a massive kid. Will definitely visit again, next time round definitely going on a ride on the trains. 😁🙌🚂

What an incredible little adventure at the NSW Rail Museum! The train collection is absolutely mind-blowing, and the history that surrounds it all is just fascinating. It's a perfect outing with your loved ones.
And guess what? The entry fee is just 15 bucks, but let me tell you, every single cent is money well spent. It's like stepping back in time, a real blast from the past. Such an eye-opening experience, and it really makes you appreciate how far technology has come since the last century.🚂🕰️👨👩👧👦

What a wonderful day for children and adults. So many historical wonderful trains to see. Train rides, lots of activities for the kids. Good facilities, staff were friendly and helpful. A great day out.

A must visit if you love trains! It’s a well maintained museum with lots of trains and vintage artefacts on display, but I recommend spending more time in the workshop area because you can go inside a few carriages and take photos of the interiors :)
I really enjoyed the 45-min steam train ride (included in the ticket). We visited the museum during non-school holidays and the staff was kind enough to give us our own seating area because the carriage is not full.
They have a cafe inside the museum if you want to have snacks and coffee. I recommend their hot pies, they’re quite tasty.

Our visits to the train museum are always a delight, especially for our kids who never tire of watching and riding the steam trains. The staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful, adding to the overall experience. We highly recommend it to fellow train enthusiasts for an unforgettable experience.

Great museum for any train and locomotive enthusiasts. Lots of displays of new and old trains within the museum with their history.
The museum is great for toddlers and kids who will find it fascinating and exciting to explore different eras.
The entry ticket is $15/person for adults and free for kids. There is also a train ride included, however since we visited during the Christmas holidays, the train rides were not available.

The NSW Rail Museum offers a nostalgic journey through time, allowing visitors to relive cherished memories while gaining insights into the rich history of trains. It's a captivating experience that seamlessly blends the past with the present. The museum not only preserves the legacy of old trains but also serves as a testament to the NSW government's commitment to providing educational opportunities for everyone. A visit to this museum is a delightful exploration of our railway heritage, making it a must-see for enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

We visited for the Thomas the Tank Engine event 🚂
I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. The organisation was the best we've come across in NSW. There were many helpful, friendly and fun staff working. Everything was a breeze. So many great activities put on for kids including several bouncy castles & play areas. Plus all the facilities you could need.
Our 2 year old loved every minute of it, including exploring all the beautiful old trains in the museum.
We really loved how so many people in the town had put balloons out along the train journey for the kids.
The steam train ride (on Donald) was a highlight!
Can very highly recommend, we'll definitely be back!!
Information center with guides to hiking in a rainforest reserve home to lyrebirds & wallabies.
Fantastic walk!
You pay for parking but not national park entry.
Very easy walk, raised path the entire way.
If you're after something adventurous this is not the one, but a lovely easy walk with great signage of fun facts about the surrounding flora

A very well-maintained and lovely rainforest centre! Saw lots of birds and wild a few wild animals there. The waterfall track was closed yesterday when I was there. The loop track is very easy to follow but is a bit too short (or might be because that I’m a fast walker…). Good option for a family trip but not recommended if you’re planning to spend a whole day there.

Recently I visited the Minnamurra rainforest with friends and was happy I did. We arrived at 9am and after a short wait due to maintenance works we set off on roughly a 4.2 kilometre walk, all on decking, mostly with handrails. The sheer peace and tranquility was amazing. Information plaques lined the route with history of the area, along with information on flaura and fauna. We saw several Lyrebirds along the way going about their daily routine, as well as other birdlife. The whole experience was great and the forest was incredible. There are several places where you are able sit and rest, as there are medium grade climbs, along with viewing platforms overlooking natural scenery. Arriving at the top you are presented with a 25 metre waterfall and breathtaking natural beauty. After some pics and enjoying the area we began our descent. It was an enjoyable time indeed. The park opens at 9 am, has parking and entry for $12. Exit is through the gift shop where many different products are available. Overall a worthwhile experience.

We had a wonderful afternoon at Minnamurra Rainforest.
When we first arrived there was quite a lot of traffic backed up. The carpark was full but as each car departed a car was allowed to proceed. We waited about 15 minutes. The wait was certainly worth it. The weather was beautiful. The walk to the waterfall was steep at times, there were seats along the way for rest stops, and the views were amazing. The walk was suggested to take 2 hr return but it only took us just over an hour.
After the walk we bought a coffee from the visitors centre and retrieved our picnic lunch from the car. There is a lovely picnic area with plenty of picnic tables that was surprisingly empty.
The visitors centre sold a variety of souvenirs, snacks, ice-creams and drinks.
Parking is $12 per car.

Beautiful experience. The Lyrebird Walk on boardwalks is stunning, with a couple of suspension bridges adding to the fun. Part of the walk is easy and wheelchair accessible but as the climb becomes moderately steeper a moderate level of fitness is required

This is a beautiful area where you can arrive, park and go through a metal walking track through a rainforest area. Parking cost $12 . You can pay at the visitor centre and display the ticket at your car. The visitor centre provides some tourist item and some snacks. No coffee shop is available. So if you want to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea you have to bring it with you. Toilets are available and they are clean. We did the loop walk as it was the only open track. However we couldn't loop around as at the end it was closed and we had to go all the way back. The walk was exceptionally relaxing and nice. The track to the waterfall was closed due to falling rocks. Not suitable for little kids as they will be tired and also they may fall as not all the tracks have rails.

Great walk and beautiful part of our country.
Note however that it is a VERY uphill climb to get to the falls. The first 10 minutes or so are flat, and then for the next 30 mins or so it’s a steep climb all the rest of the way, so an above average level of fitness is required. Make sure you take water and snacks to enjoy at the waterfall!

Very beautiful and amazing nature of sounds! The walk was brilliant and so much greenery! We spotted the lyrebird! And such a fresh breathe of air! 🌹😍🤩💐. We got our pass so no need to pay for our tickets!

Once you enter the entrance you will get the feeling of entering the rain forest.
The place is well maintained and clean. The paths are well laid and secured. There are two walks a short looped walk and a longer hike to the waterfall. The loop is an easy walk compared to the other, which is steep and is about 4km two way and could take about 1.5 to 2 hours to and fro depending on ones fit level.
There is ample parking and the toilet is there. The cafe is closed but you can get some soft drinks in the visitor centre. Beware that the visitor centre closes at 4pm and the gates are shut at 5pm. You will have to call their emergency number to get out which attracts a fee.

Superb place for a walk through nature. Unfortunately the Minnamurra Falls walk was closed and the Lyrebird loop walk is no longer a loop as part of the path is under construction so you would have to walk back. The paths are elevated and easy to walk but not very wheelchair friendly as there are many steep descends and uphill climbs. The picnic area is very well maintained with lots of charm with its moss covered floor and the sound of flowing water. There is plenty of tables, benches, BBQ area, and sinks for all your picnic needs. The toilets were clean too. The gift shop has souvenirs, and sell some ice cream and drinks too. Parking fee is $12 unless you have the annual pass for national parks.

Paved walkways which are easy to walk on the lyrebird walk but going to waterfall has steep climbing and downhill walking. Nice picnic area. Lot of paid parking slots but can get busy on public holidays.

We visited during the week so there were hardly any people around just plenty of birds and singing lyrebird was truely amazing experience. Currently part of the loop walk is closed but you can walk all the way up to Minnamurra falls cca hour and half away. Walk is steep but all the way you have either boardwalk or paved pathway and there are plenty of benches if you need to rest and catch your breath. You can still do loop walk with two hanging bridges as that is easier walk along the river and then walk back to the information office. As others mentioned there is no cafe but we anyway came to walk and enjoy nature not to drink a coffee. There is a toilet and plenty of parking

Make sure you are fit, as this isnt for those that arent up for a steep 2 1/2 hour return walk. I was disappointed with the waterfall, seeing we had not had the rain, so it was very dry. We did see some black parrots and a few Liar birds on the walk. $12 for parking but free entry to the rainforest. Remember to go to the toilet before you start and take water with you.

A beautiful spot to go for a rainforest walk with well-kept pathways and sturdy rails for most of the walk.
Beware of the Giant Stinging Trees and don't pick up their fallen leaves - take care with small children.
The waterfall on the lyrebird loop is lovely do I imagine the waterfall track is even more beautiful.
The paths follow the river so there's always water nearby.
The national park pass is better value of you're going to go to NSW national parks except Kosciusko park, more than five times over a year.
Some steps and some steep areas but wheelchair accessible until a few minutes in st which point you could sit for a while or return to the cafe.
Well signposted.
We saw a lyrebird right near the visitor centre in the garden, scratching around.

Fresh air and a good walk which has a path...the walk to the waterfall is a bit more steep. The entry is $12 for a car...the park closes at 4.00 pm...it requires a good few hours to get around. A really great walk to add to your holiday itinerary that can be complimented with the national parks audio guides app. Although some parts of the track are a little steep, its defiantly worth it for the beautiful waterfall at the end.
