Very good selection of old historic items of past era's. A nice trip through history seeing how things were done or were made compared to today and how they've changed.

One of the best small museums I've visited anywhere. Actually not so small. It's like the TARDIS, walk through the front door and it goes on and on and on. Our travelling companions were allowed to take their well behaved dog with them. Highly recommended.
Kurt Davy — Google review
This was probably our favourite place to visit in Silverton. There was so much history stored in those walls, we could have spent all day there taking it all in...
Camping and 4WD Downunder — Google review
Good to visit here. It is like a museum where I could see ways of life in the past.
Parichat Belle — Google review
Very inexpensive entry, and a huge collection of antiques and artefacts. While we were expected the museum to be more orientated around Silverton and the Gaol, the museum was mostly a collection of items, rather than information and antiques specific to the gaol. We spent about 45 minutes here, and our dog was allowed to join us all which was great.
Kerbray — Google review
Have been here 3 times and will go back every single time i visit the area! This is a bloody great museum, excellent sized with a tonne of artefacts! And the entry fee is only $7!!!
Even better going on a week day as I got to enjoy the whole place to myself and really explore at my own pace!
Highly recommend to anyone!

If you have kids, you must visit this museum. Lots to see and learn about. The kids (6 and 8) got a lot out of our time here. Even us adults loved our time exploring inside. The musuem is cheap to enter and you'll need 60-90min here to cover everything. Exhibits are well laid out.
Helen Di Domenico — Google review
Great history, not just about the Gaol.
You could easily spend half a day here with the amount of written information, photos, clothing items, machinery and lots, lots more! This museum has a lot.
Well worth the visit.

A very large collection of everything from the Silverton area. You will need plenty of time to get around all that it has to offer.
Had a blast at the Silverton Hotel.
Stayed in accommodation and found it all extremely clean and well appointed with everything you need during your stay.
The staff at the Hotel were awesome providing tourists with heaps of information of what they could do in town.
The food was great… my favourite was the steak. Excellent pub food in a stunning location.
Make sure you check out all the memorabilia the pub has to offer.
Cheers to Peggy and her team for looking after us 👍

A decent pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Dogs were allowed at the seating at the front of the venue only, which was in the shade so ideal. There was much more seating out the back area, but no dogs unfortunately. Food was okay, and good for a quick bite, and served on paper plates when we visited. One of the few places to get food in the area, and it does the job!

Really great pub with coldest beer on a 41 degree day.
Awesome souvenirs in beer garden shop.
Great services. Staff were happy to be in photos and help educate the history of Silverton.

The Hotel is an iconic place in which one must see whilst in Silverton. Interesting to have a look around inside the hotel, with pictures put up around the walls. There is plenty of places to sit, inside and outside. Friendly service. Drinks reasonably prices.

Consider calling ahead for food as kitchen can close around 18:30 if the place is quiet.
We can only base this rating on our experience. As we got there early... this is a small town pub. More support more hours so get out for a beer. We think it's great you are preserving water with the paper plates. Food and pricing is about right for the service we received and being such a remote town. They were accustom to my wife's vegetarian diet. Friendly atmosphere in a building with plenty of character.

Great honest pub grub, wow that hotel has some stories to tell on it's walls! A must visit if you're ever in Silverton.
Camping and 4WD Downunder — Google review
Friendly service from the main attraction in Silverton - air con nice on a hot day - I spent 15 minutes sipping my schooner of Iron Jack beer while browsing the walls and the amusing aphorisms hanging from the ceiling like ‘men are like tiles. Lay them right the first time and you can walk all over them’ - as a man I resemble that remark! I came for bangers and mash for lunch but saw it was only for dinner so we just had a drink only. A nice 30 minute rest and relax.
ultimobile — Google review
Iconic hotel which is a must see when in the area. Good pub food with very generous servings. Pet friendly. Friendly atmosphere. Great photos to look at inside the hotel itself and you may get to see the donkeys out front early in the day. It was very quiet when we went - perhaps because there weren't too many tourists around mid-week. Highly recommend & would definitely return!

Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Their famous hot dogs lived up to the hype.

Great atmosphere, the owners are very welcoming and have always been very funny every time I’ve been here. Silverton itself is a very unique location and the pub is such a good vibe. It’s a must stop if you’re travelling through the Broken Hill area

It’s a great looking pub. Loved the Mad Max paraphernalia about the place.
This was our last stop together before heading home after our big adventure travelling through the Simpson Desert with friends.
The food was disappointingly meh for such an iconic looking pub. It could be so great if they had interesting native food options on the menu!

This is a mess up at Silverton. It’s where the filmed mad max it’s lovely place people are welcoming we bought wine and snacks. There is also the famous donkeys that comes and wants food really nice. Full of old and heritage antiques.

A really wonderful and iconic place to visit. So much to look at and immerse yourself into. Tasty food and drinks too. Staff are super friendly. Highly recommend!

This pub has tremendous character. We visited on a hot, windy evening and were made very welcome. January is a low tourist season so it wasn’t crowded but still a great place to eat. The chef and bartender worked out what gluten free food I could have and my steak and veggies were delicious. Highly recommend.

It's been along time between visits... the last time we had a drinking horse at the bar... inside hasn't changed too much
The Mad Max 2 Museum, located around 20 minutes from Broken Hill in the town of Silverton, is a must-visit for movie enthusiasts. This privately owned museum showcases an extensive collection of costumes, photos, memorabilia, and original vehicles from the post-apocalyptic film series. The owner, a dedicated fan who relocated from the UK to run the museum, has assembled an impressive array of items related to Mad Max 2.
If you are a Mad Max fan, loved the movies and would love to see the vehicles used in the making plus so much memorabilia, then you simply must visit the museum. We loved the whole experience of reliving the moments.
John Gadsdon — Google review
A paradise for die-hard Mad max fans…. Wide range of collection including original /replica of items/vehicles, artefacts and remains from the shoot. Really interesting to see how it has all been preserved so beautifully over the years… highly recommended and must visit at Silverton. Here is something - try to find the morning schedule from a particular day of the shoot displayed from 1983 in the photographs section of the room 😉
Padmaja Bysani — Google review
A lot of items and history collected during the making of mad max 2. The museum is relatively small and the back side is larger where the majority of vehicles were used during the movie. Definetely recommended if you are passionate about

Adrian and Linda are amazingly friendly, welcoming and are really just great people. Had a fantastic chat with them both about everything really. The museum itself has so much memorabilia!!! Highly recommend going out to visit and having a chat with the wonderful hosts 😃

This is a privately owned collection with some items loaned to the owner. There is so much information in here about the movie and how it was made. Tons of photos and replicas of some of the vehicles. The owners are friendly and were very interesting to talk to. It's just one of those places you have to visit.
Mike M — Google review
Very friendly and informative staff. Very reasonable entry fee
And heaps of cool stuff to see, if I had to name one minor flaw it's that there's only one entrance/exit leading up a narrow passageway so getting out of the building once you are finished can be quite inconvenient with all the other people coming in, it's also a bit of a safety concern, I would suggest the owner installed an exit door if possible. We did go first thing in the morning and it was quite busy so I imagine this isn't an issue all the time. Anyway I definitely recommend going here if you're in the area, the amount of things to see here is amazing.
Cody Newton — Google review
One of the highlights of our trip! Loads of Mad Max memorabilia, props & photos - some original, some replicas. Amazing collection & interesting information. Photos not allowed in one section (understandably) but allowed everywhere else. Owners are super friendly and helpful. The museum is also dog friendly so you take your beloved pooches inside with you! Excellent value and a museum not to be missed!
Nina — Google review
Absolutely loved this place. If you're a fan of the movie it is a must to do. Talked to the owner who let my son in for the concession price even though he was clearly over 16 (he is about 2 inches taller than me). Told me how he came out from England and how he set up the museum. He also advised me to go the the Mundi Mundi lookout which I did and enjoyed. My only regret was there wasn't more but what was there was really interesting and enjoyable. The setting was awesome and the fact they shot the movie in that area added to the museum's authenticity. Would highly recommend.
David Godfrey — Google review
A great place to check out in the wastelands if you're a fan of Mad Max 2. With props, scripts, vehicles and lots of behind the scenes photos it's well worth a visit.
But then, if you're a Mad Max fan and you're anywhere near Broken Hill you're gonna check this place out anyway.
Drew Scott — Google review
Definitely paradise for the Mad Max movie fans. Loaded of collection that are well kept in the museum. Worthwhile drive to this town for us.
Matthana Mcinerney — Google review
What an amazing Mad Max collection & memorabilia items they have & at $10.00 an adult you can’t go wrong. Be prepared to have to tilt your head to see all the collection as they really need a bigger space for their whole collection. Would definitely recommend as we loved it being Mad Max fanatics. And of course you have to buy a memento. We purchased the MadMax sign.

Interesting to see all the unique and exclusive paraphernalia from all the different mad max films. You can take photos outside the building and I'm the back section of the vehicles, but nothing inside of the unique items and collectables.

It's really interesting. As a train buff myself, this was a really interesting learning about the history of it. They have some very unique rolling stock and is a must if your in the area, even if your not overly interested in trains, it's fascinating to hear the history of the area.

Interesting rail history of Peterborough. Interesting things to look at and the woman that showed us around had very good technical knowledge. This museum will get even better in time when the roundhouse is included.
Graham Nordling — Google review
We were there for the Sound and Light show. We enjoyed the video of the history about the steam trains in the area. The light show was good also. Hard to get good photos when sitting in the back row. It would have been awesome if some of the viewing was outside of the carriage.
tammy edmonds — Google review
Great collection of historic buildings and rail cars and locomotives. It's a bit sad that nothing is alive any more since they no longer have access to track to run trains. Knowledgeable guide with continuous tour around the site so you can join at any time with little wait. Timing didn't allow us to attend the light and sound show but I have heard it is very good.
Gary Allpike — Google review
The morning tour of this train museum was memorable. The knowledge & information shared by our tour guide was interesting & informative. Suitable for all ages. Thank you Peter for an interesting day. Unfortunately we were unable to do the evening Lights tour as the required number of a minimum of six people was not achieved. There is adequate parking and Public amenities are also available. Should I find myself in Peterborough once again I would surely visit Steamtown train museum again
Shireen Shoaib — Google review
Our son's certainly enjoyed the tour and freedom to go in and out of most of the trains and carriages. The sound and light show however was not really what we expected and unfortunately our children were quite restless throughout the movie and they are usually very captivated by movie. Their attention was lost early on. However for adults the information in the movie was very interesting. The light show is certainly not a Las Vegas show but you watch different coloured lights change to old style train music for a couple of songs.
Very friendly and helpful staff and amazing we could bring our dog to both the tour and the sound and light show.

A neat little trick on the brain. Best to park facing west when you try it for the first time. The road is well graded and you can easily take a non 4wd vehicle down there.
It is sign posted pretty well and only 9km from the bitumen.
Make sure you turn the car off, put the windows down and enjoy the moment.

Really disappointing. While staying in Clare, I drove to Burra to revisit the great heritage places I recall from a visit 40 years ago. (Maybe $100 round trip for car expenses?) Only to be told there is now a charge of $30 plus $50 key deposit to visit these places. I was told the charge is for maintenance. I declined but did go to the miners' dugouts I recalled. The place is littered with broken glass and plastic and other trash that looks like it's been there some time. So I wondered where the maintenance moneys are applied. Anyway, i think $30 to view heritage assets that were previously free is far too excessive. I guess that was a goodbye to Burra.

Very interesting mine site they mined very rich veins of copper for 20 - 30 years in the late 19th century. There are many fascinating relics surrounding the open pit with posted information. We did not go to the Information centre for a key as the fee was a a bit "exy" $30 pp. Maybe worth it if you visit Burra for a few days and you are budding geologist. Burra is one of the coolest towns I have visited we stay in a stone mining cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Self drive tour. Stone work is amazing. Very interesting information of the old mine workings. Go to Tourist inform. ctr and get a key pass for the town sites. Well worth it to get access to all the sites.

Great history with artifacts on how mining was done in Burra.
Did the heritage tour of the town. Remember to visit the visitors centre so that you can get a key to visit various sites and a map.
Tarcisus Ho — Google review
If you go to Burra but don't visit the mine at least once, then it's like not visiting at all. You can access the area free to some point, but to see the rest you need to pick-up the key and pay entry. That also allows you to drive your car a fair way up too without walking.
Carl O'Donoghue — Google review
Wow! So much history! Was the biggest inland town all because of the huge copper mine. It really is massive and you can visualise how busy it must of been back in the day. The town also reflects the beautiful architecture of that period. A great place and a must see!
Chris Martignago — Google review
What a fantastic piece of history has been preserved here. They have completely refurbished one of the old Cornish beam engine houses and there are quite a few signs around that tell you exactly what the buildings were for.. What a shame that the old steam and mechanical workings were not also refurbished.
To get access to the mine workings and buildings you will need to purchase a key from the visitors centre in town that will let you through the locked gates and into locked buildings.
The price per person is $30 with a $50 security deposit on the key. You get the security deposit back when you return the key.
The annoying thing for us was that when we got to the old workings we found that the gates had been left unlocked and there were visitors there that had not purchased a key.
I guess that it was for a good cause but $20 would be a more reasonable price.
All that aside it was very interesting and rewarding to visit the old mine that was one of the first metalliferous mines in the countty. It also played a pivotal role in the development of South Australia.
Peter Johnston — Google review
This is a very good museum, take the tour of the whole town with the key that unlocks all of these sites. Available from the tourist information centre. Burra is a living museum!
Bob Hopkins — Google review
My partner and I did the burra heritage passport. The mines were my favourite of the attractions. Inside facts and the history of the mine can be read on the walls. When we went we unluckily had a dust storm blow over, got dust everywhere. 😂 If you don’t want to pay money to visit the mine ($25 for concession) there is a lookout you can view the mine and you can easily walk to the main mine building from the car park, you’ll just won’t be able to go inside.

This wonderful B&B was highly recommended by friends in the B&B industry and it didn’t disappoint. The building is beautifully restored and the B&B (5 rooms) are all wonderful and generous in size with beautiful furnishings. The Queen size bed was as comfortable as being home. Siting by the log-fire at night was wonderful while reading (didn’t switch the TV on once). We checked in on the actual day of the 150th birthday of the building (by chance) and met several of the wonderful volunteers who were there celebrating the 150th with drinks & nibbles. We highly recommend this superb B&B to any couple.

Wow what an amazing restoration done on a beautiful historical site my hat is off to them and now restoration has been started on a beautiful old train carriage and let me say it's nothing short of incredible art work to restore such beautiful South Australian railways history it is now a bed and breakfast at the station and is a must to stay at especially if you're a railway enthusiast or people that simply love the peace and serenity of the outback towns I personally love this town and go to it quite often and for me this stay is on my up coming to do list as it sure doesn't disappoint even just going to snap photos and take it all in so do your selves a favour and take the trip you won't regret it 😎🙏

Worth a look if you like the mining and railway history. Nicely restored although we've not experienced the B&B
Great and old it gives you an insight into what it was like there. The people that own it are amazing locals and are very welcoming. Take the kids they will love it. So come down and see what it looked like back then.

A great gaol to visit. Not only was it built way back but it only closed down in the 1970s. 3 big cell block wings and a smaller one out back. This gaol gives you a glimpse in life behind bars through a 100 odd years. Love the artifacts found on site along with period clothing. Well worth the look. Make sure you have more then an hour to spend here as it is worth it. Why not take the stairs up the tower to get a birds eye view of the whole jail.
And if you want to stay here why not arrange accommodation with the jail and spend a night or 2. Bring a jacket as it is quite cool inside.
Robert Schmitz — Google review
Stayed a night there... nice clean place... $40pp for touring and staying in the cell. Stayed there with group of friends abd eaxh if us got our own cell to lick in ourselves..
There is full kitchen facility including bbq microwave and fridge.
There is a shop also inside where they sell clothes and toys..
Toilets are clean.
At night time the place gets very spooky which is good!
Our tour guide was really friendly abd we get to know the history behind the gladstone gaol, which was pretty full on
Overall we had a great experience and keen to visit there again

Definitely worth a gander, was only shut in the late 70's,heaps to explore including the central tower up some steps.
8 bucks an adult, the walls are impressive, the cells creepy and thought provoking.
Friendly people looking after the joint.

It was amazing!. If you are into the paranormal this place is the place to go!
Kyra Moulder — Google review
So much more could be done to enhance the experience - e.g. recordings of "prisoners" & their day/treatment. Most objects were behind mesh screens. No evidence of prison clothing (apart from guards), or handiwork of female inmates.

Interesting step back in time. First inmate on his release was presented with a gold watch!

A unique chance to be immerse in a piece of history and a stunning natural surrounding. Bungaree Station is an incredible historical location and it's a great privilege to be able to stay here and explore the property. With a little one in tow it was great fun to feed the animals in the morning - Mark is very kind and knowledgeable - and to wonder through the station to discover its past and history. The Groom's quarters where we stayed was very comfortable for a family - although the furniture is a little bit dated - and it provided everything we needed. The property is just a short drive from Clare and perfect to explore the valley. I'll definitely be coming back!

Staying at Bungaree was a wonderful experience. It’s an amazing place, so peaceful and pretty. Our cottage was private, romantic and comfortable. The historic buildings and the farm were fascinating, and our hosts Vicky and Mark were very welcoming.
We’ll be back!

One fabulous church you allowed to visit
Thanks heaps for having us visit

We stayed here for our grandson's wedding. The venue was amazing, and the Lodge where we stayed was great. If you get a chance, look at the stunning night sky. The reception was in the wool shed after the ceremony on the lawn in front of the homestead. Everything was perfect.

Very interesting property not far from Clare. Pretty, well-equipped cottage (no dishwasher.) There is a self-guided walk around the estate which was really interesting. We also had the chance to feed a few orphaned (pet) kangaroo, wallaby and deer. A lovely stay.

Amazing place to stay. Wonderful hosts. Caring and knowledgable about their area. We were looked after and felt very special. Thank you to Vicki and the team. Lots to do on the station. Great photo opportunities and history buffs will love it

There are not enough superlatives to describe Bungaree station.
The gardens and historical buildings, the accommodation and walking trails are simply stunning.
An opportunity not to be missed for weddings and other events.

Gorgeous setting and grounds, walks to enjoy and history to explore and learn. Rooms are comfortable and interesting. Breakfast included to cook in your room. A must visit in the Clare Valley.
Don Woodhouse — Google review
Wonderfully rustic but still conveniently close to Clare. We stayed in the Swaggies’ Hut. Uncluttered but well-appointed, with a modern interior and bathroom (cleverly built into a water tank). Spotlessly clean. Vicky & Mark were wonderful hosts. Highly recommended.
Went expecting to get a coffee and have a quick walk A$18 C$10. Stayed over an hour for the puzzles, games and quiz throughout the garden and maze. Had a great time.
Kirsty Malpass — Google review
It's a great place for kids and there are a few things to do here, other than the maze. There are life size board games, including chess, Jenga and checkers. There are tables to eat at, plus some coffee and food options. Souvenirs are available. I just feel the admission price is quite steep, at $15 per adult (price correct as of Jan '22). I get that they have high overheads and maintenance, but the maze is not that difficult for an adult and can be completed in about 10-15 mins. Also, for the same price, you can visit Martindale Hall which is a 5 minute drive away and has much more to see. (If you do decide to visit Mintaro Maze and Martindale Hall, keep your receipts, as you get a $1 or $2 discount if you visit both places, but you need to ask for it)..
Craigee Mac — Google review
This was probably the best maze I've been to in Australia. A good sized maze that isn't trivial and lots of puzzles and games outside to do as well. 100% recommend this place for a visit.
Bevan Coleman — Google review
Completely overpriced for what is a small maze. $18 adult $10 per kid. $10 per person would be more than ample or at least include scones and jam with an adult ticket. I wanted to get scones too but after spending $56 to enter the maze, I couldn't justify it. Only worth going if they adjust the prices
Shannon Nowakowski — Google review
Absolutely worth the money.
Such a cool place for the family and lots to do other than the maze itself.
Mick M — Google review
I felt like a child once again in this place. If you love riddles and make-believe worlds, you will find this place so much fun!
Rahul Rao — Google review
For the entry fee I am not sure if really worth it. Kids enjoyed but not really enjoyed by our group.

This was so much fun and a little frustrating too. I nearly found all the things you are challenged to find on the property
Karen Prior — Google review
Make you get you get here before 4pm.
Looks like fun. Lovely gardens.
Kayne (Kano La La) — Google review
Be aware is not free, 18 dollars person person. The maze is not that big you can do it all in 15 minutes. It is really nice garden and very well taken care. It is a tourist spot so they can charge anything but once you done you will never go back.
Janaina Carvalho Lopes — Google review
An amazing place for "kids" of all ages from 1 to 101 yo. Just loved it. Thank you so much to the Morris family for creating such a place to visit on a fun day out.
Mark Fraser — Google review
We enjoyed a lot taking photos in the pretty garden and solving little quizzes & games. Nice touristic place !
Soy K — Google review
Exciting and fun, we ordered food and coffee first before the maze challenge, then spend more time playing their table games; it was really entertaining. We jumped in every table to try a variety of games, good to let your mind and boredom release even a while. Forget about the entrance fee, free your mind and have fun and let the challenge begin.
jean lazaro — Google review
This time, called in for coffee (delicious) Travellers at a nearby table recommended scones (warm, with homemade jam and real cream). Generously served. Not disappointed!
Thanks, Mintaro!
Bronwyn Lucas — Google review
Worth a visit for the whole family or the romantic couple date. There is plenty to keep everyone entertained.
Entry fee applicable at the cafe before entry to the grounds.
The maze & premises is smaller than anticipated so don’t fear, the little ones won’t get lost.
Cafe offers good coffee & adult refreshments, lucky dips ($8) for the kids, plenty of games outdoors aside the maze to keep the kids entertained.
We even spotted rabbits on the grounds which was a pleasant surprise for the little ones.
Keep your receipt of entry as if you will receive discount entry fee to Martindale Hall.
Martindale Hall is an impressive Georgian-style manor situated 3km south of Mintaro. Constructed in 1880 for Edmund Bowman Jnr, a young pastoralist who unfortunately lost the family fortune due to drought and plummeting wool prices, the hall boasts extensive grounds, period furniture, and an ornate stairway made of blackwood. It also houses a Mintaro-slate billiard table and a lavish smoking room that resembles a museum.
Magnificent building, beautiful rooms and furnished on a grand scale. Great you can walk around the whole place and see it as it was. A must visit attraction $18 P/Adult.
Alex Draper — Google review
Lots of history on this fascinating building and it's surrounding, The people who lived and worked there, The town of Mintaro. great place to visit. The movie hanging rock was filmed there to. Recommend visiting on your travels.

This home is magnificent! You really feel your self step back into the late 1800s Australia. There is a fee to get in but it's worth it and I'm sure all the proceeds go to the upkeep of the home.
Russell Payne — Google review
It gives you a glimpse of how rich people lived back in time and you seem to be transported to their era. Many people have complained about the fees; true that the fee could be little less like $10 pp but it’s still worth it. I truly enjoyed my trip.

Both kids and adults loved wandering and exploring
Fantastic history that we are lucky to be able to explore

Exploring Martindale Hall is like being transported to Europe!
It has been beautifully maintained and restored with priceless treasures still on display. The grandeur is an oddity especially considering how isolate the estate would have been at its construction. We arrived at opening on a Sunday morning and had the place to explore for ourselves. Have been wanting to visit for ages and recommend that you do also!
David Maddison — Google review
This place ! Wow .. The volunteers who maintain the statuesque Martindale Hall are wonderful !
The quality of restoration, their dedication, their obvious hard work.. just wow I don't know how they keep it looking new .
And the ceilings... Devine ! To the person or people who maintain them and paint the ceiling roses, personally I say thank you for your time so I can enjoy them.
The love, care and passion for Martindale Hall is to be recognised and commended.
And friendly, it was a pleasure to be able to chat and learn so much about its history.
We went on a weekend just after New Year's Day it was quiet and peaceful, we had the hall to ourselves!! Which was a truly unique experience.. if you want to avoid crowds, go then !
Their is carparking a very short walk to the hall, toilets and steps too the main entrance.

Very interesting part of South Australian history. And where they filmed " Picnic at Hanging Rock " many years ago.

Beautiful old house with incredible history and very well maintained. $18 entry but you are keeping history alive! Just outside of the historic town of Mintaro and well worth the visit.

A truly remarkable piece of history. Do your research before your visit and enjoy.
We spent at least a few hours here. Really enjoyed learning about the past.
I’d love some better access and some guided tour options with more access to other areas.
It’s great that it has been preserved.
Kayne (Kano La La) — Google review
$18 pp and $10 child entry is overpriced. No option for a family ticket. There was only one other car there on a Saturday in school holidays. I wonder why🤪 make it more affordable. So we just admired the building from the outside
Shannon Nowakowski — Google review
Really liked the walk around. $18 per person is way too steep in my opinion. Should be $10. Also lack of signage on what's what, not sure if they do guided tours but that would be great to add context.
Mo Tee — Google review
Before you go is worth it to watch the movie "picnic at the hanging rock" the movie is an Australian classic and it was filmed here. The place is beautiful very well maintained and with a great story behind. 18 dollars to enter , plenty of parking. Opens at 10am
This is a highlight. The wines, especially the older reds, were fabulous. There is a small tasting fee. Make sure you spend time exploring the grounds, historic and beautiful.

Sevenhill Cellars.
Source: Sevenhill Cellar website's History.
"While the origins of Sevenhill Cellars date back to the mid-nineteenth century, its roots run much deeper and go all the way back to the 16th century when a young Spanish courtier called Inigo, eventually swapped a life of violence for one dedicated to helping others and co-founded the religious order we know today as the Jesuits.
He mistakenly thought the Latin translation of his name was Ignatius and hundreds of years later, the more well-known St Ignatius has stuck fast."
As you walk through the cellar you will be transported to Inigo's época.
Don't miss this visit and a great wine.

This is a non profit winery runner by professionals but owned by the Jesuits. It is just a short ride from the bike trail so definitely a must. Great wine! But most of all beautiful grounds. The church is close by too and has lots of history worth it to visit!

It was 30 minutes till closing time but still they gave me a chance to try for a wine tasting, still they got energy to entertain me. It was a quick one, even though still happy and excited to go home and sip with my Sevenhill Reisling wine😊Be back next time for more longer time.

Honestly the wine wasn't personally my cup of tea (apart from the Inigo Reisling) however the service was great and the venue is wonderful.

Beautiful place with a long history and great customer service. Cycled 5 km along the Riesling trail to get there which was fun. We did wine tasting, bought a bottle of red wine and some souvenirs. Would love to visit again.
If it's your first time in a while, riding a push bike without gears along this path, it's an enduring adventure. When I originally Google maps the Rattler Trail, Undalya to Riverton, it said mainly flat. I don't know if they were referring to the path or physical inclines 😳🤣😭💪🚵♀️ the endorphin release is totes worth what used to be the old rattler railway track. Stick to the track, the brown snake are out!

Interesting walking or cycling trail around the Clare valley towns. Can visit wineries, shops etc as well.
Had a brilliant experience at Henschke. Aside from knowing how to make some of the worlds best wine they know how to look after guests extremely well also. Right from the moment we walked in the door Olivia made us feel very welcome and gave us an excellent tasting experience. Paying the extra for the 'Henschke Distinguished' tasting is worth every cent. This is a must do if exploring the SA wine region. Well done Olivia and team Henschke
Alexander W — Google review
Henschke was our first stop and was by far the best tasting experience over the weekend. The wines are outstanding. The space was lovely and our guide (I think her name was Jodie) was wonderful. The tasting was over an hour so make sure you have time to really enjoy the experience.
Accessibility: easy ramp access and both high top tables and lower tables. The accessible bathroom was one of the nicest I’ve come across and certainly was the nicest over the weekend. Parking lot is not gravel so thumbs up 👍 from me.

The hill of grace tour was unbelievable and is a must do! From the very beginning Ashleigh was caring, informative and delved into the Henschke family history.. it was beautiful to be able to visit our favourite winery and experience all the best that the winery has to offer. We were lucky to meet Stephen and Prue who are amazing human beings and was awesome to hear about all the innovative things they have done to produce exceptional wines over the years. What a way to celebrate our honeymoon! Thank you for a memorable experience.

My friend and I had the most magical wine tasting experience here today. Jody was extremely knowledgeable about the Henschke story and the wines. Thank you for a great afternoon - such a beautiful and historic cellar door experience.
Tai Martin — Google review
Henschke was one of the most visually pleasing cellar doors we've been to! The tasting room looked amazing with a cellar behind glass doors. The pitched roof and exposed beams were really astetically pleasing. Just being in there made is feel very bougie!
The server was very informative and gave us detailed explanations about each wine we tasted. She was engaging and answered all the questions we asked her! She really knows her stuff!
If you are visiting Barossa valley, it is definately worth the extra 20 minute drive to visit Henschke!
Benedict Hoo — Google review
You can't go wrong with Henschke!
Admittedly, I was a little concerned that, due to the reputation and price point of Henschke, that there could be a lot of pretentiousness. I am so thrilled to say that was not the case at all.
Classy - yes! But so friendly, so knowledgeable, so welcoming! Kerry gave us a history lesson on each wine, adding to the love that I already had for the wines.
The wines speak for themselves, but the experience of going to the tasting room should not be skipped... You won't be disappointed!

I was here with my wife and good friends from California who are avid wine drinkers.
We tasted some of the best wines during our wine tasting session.
Service was friendly, warm and caring.
We also learnt about the history of the winery from the beginnings to the present sixth generation.
We will definitely be back if we are in Adelaide.
Thanks for an informative and beautiful experience.

Nice wine and setting. But our tasting moved pretty slowly and could have been wrapped up 20-30mins quicker IMO. If you love a relaxed pace of tasting and are not in any rush, you'll be fine. But knowing we had partners with kids watching the clock, moving along would have been appreciated. Wasn't bowled over by the wines compared to some others tasted on the day (and since).

Fabulous wines, cellar door and cellar door experience!
We popped in today to do a tasting and had a fabulous experience. The cellar door was redone a couple of years ago and really is a standout. Excellent service. Enlightening tasting session with Kerry who was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable with winery/Henschke family history and their wines.
Visited this winery on Saturday. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. I really enjoyed the wine tasting and all the explanations and informations provided by our host. Beautiful setting, which reminded me of the south of France. Beautiful garden outside with nice group tables and a fire pit. We were only 2 so we sat inside which was really nice too, with comfy seats and love the decoration and the paintings on the walls, very stylish. The wine was really good and we ended up purchasing a few bottles to take home. They do platters as well (but I believe you have to book in advance for that) I will have to come back to try the regional platters with the wine. Also it can be a bit cold there especially when all the french windows doors are opened and all the wind stream is circulating in the main room so make sure you wear a good coat so you can fully enjoy winter time outside/inside.

Delicious wines and really amazing platter ($45 regional one). Keeley (our host) was fantastic, greeting us with warmth and even brought a water bowl and treats out for the doggos right away. She was very new to the job but already confident and very friendly in her approach. We enjoyed all the wines we tried and found it hard to pick what to buy. Highly recommend!

Last stop on our day around the Barossa and what a wonderful way to wrap up our day. This smallish winery has some of the nicest reds and at reasonable prices. It was like sitting in someone's professionally designed inside-outside from overlooking their vineyards. We were well attended by a young man who explained the various wines we tasted and their origins. We purchased 6 of a kind and received a discount and free shipping home. Murray Street winery is a real gem; definitely include this place on your tastings and visit list in the Barossa.

Visited here 5 years ago after extensively visiting vineyard cellar doors. At Murray Street they seat you and bring the wine to you. After 5 years they are still doing this and instead of chasing tastings around the wine country, this is a great experience. This is an exceptional "slow down and smell the roses" sort of place..oh and left with a few bottles

The tasting plate was perfect for two people over a tasting each 🥂

Again not really a winery person but this place was very enjoyable. We were in a function room so didn’t get to enjoy the whole place but the buildings and outside areas were very beautiful and well done with lots of sitting areas with shade around the place.
The service was good, everyone we dealt with was very nice and a made us feel comfortable.
The wines we tasted were some of the better ones I’ve had. The charcuterie board was good but had pretty “fancy” examples of each type of food so not for someone that’s not adventurous with food. Would like to see more cracker options but that’s being picky.
Parking was good. The address on maps seemed to be up the road from where it was but heck if you made it that far you should have the ability to find it.
Would definitely go again

Excellent service and knowledge advice by staff. Platter for lunch was fabulous. Wine tasting (reds) was inspiring and eye opening. The philosophy of Murray street wines has evoked a wider palette for us. Had intended to buy a bottle or two and only left after spending $600 😊

Chateau Tanunda is a historic 19th-century winery in Barossa, with guided tours and tastings. The estate boasts beautiful gardens and a cricket oval, making it an ideal spot for a picnic. Its rich history dates back to the 1840s when Prussians first migrated to the Barossa. Visitors can enjoy scenic routes from Tanunda to Angaston via Bethany, offering stunning valley views.
A great way to learn about a part of Barossa history. Good selection of wines to taste. We had a lovely lady (ex air cabin crew) look after us and tell us about each wine. Chateau Tanunda is well worth a visit. Plenty of parking available.

Was ok, but I had high hope and perhaps was expecting a little more. My experience felt more like of a tourist stop then the personal, memorable and fun wine stops that I’ve previously had.
The grounds are magnificent and the cellar door/tasting area looks grand, but it’s letdown by the lacklustre staff. No greetings upon arrival. The wines however were amazing and enjoyable.

A nice winery in Barossa Valley. This winery was larger than I expected. They have a lot of barrels inside which makes you feel you are coming to a winery. The quality of wine is also good. They provide red sparkling wine which was rare to me. This winery is located southern part of the Valley, so I would recommend you to start with this winery when you come from Adelaide to explore Barossa Valley.

We did a wine tasting with Alex, he was knowledgeable and enthusiastic while explaining the wine selections.

Nice building and beautiful cellar door but our experience wasn’t the best. We pre booked the “Old vine expressions tasting experience” and the person who was serving us didn’t know much about their wines. We didn’t learn anything from it. The friendly cellar door team offered us some back vintages to taste after we asked a few questions, good wines but we expected a better experience with knowledge and understanding. The lady serving us gave us the tastings notes to read but I can do that at home. Hope you can train your team, especially if someone pay $50 per a wine tasting. Thanks for understand

We enjoyed the wine tasting experience at Chateau, the customer service was exceptional particularly when I made a huge mistake of booking the wrong day but they still managed to squeeze us in. Then we enjoyed some more wines outside with our pup under the beautiful day and beautiful views.

Firstly the whole chateau is just beautiful and well maintained. Very friendly staff working there. Lastly the wines produced by them are 5 stars! Highly recommended to visit when in Barossa. By the way we were served by Vickie who is such a friendly person!

A beautiful building, fantastic interior. We had been looking forward to this visit for some time, yet the tasting left us a bit underwhelmed. So pay more for a higher quality wine tasting, also the customer service was a bit drab which also took away from the experience & excitement of our purchases.

We did a wine making experience here for a corporate event and it was the best experience I have had at a winery to date. The staff were great to deal with and the food at the long lunch was fantastic. I could not recommend this any more.

I arrived at 5pm. It was a bit late for tastings Evan though the fellow that served us did give us 2 tastings of Chardonnay & Semillon. They were very nice. $70 a bottle to buy.
I felt like it was not a good idea being there. This was my first experience with wineries not being welcoming. I could have been a hot shot female.

A terrific experience!!! We organised a birthday celebration at this awesome venue!!
Jane and her team were absolutely amazing! They went above and beyond to make our party absolutely amazing. Every guest who came from interstate was blown away by the ambiance, the scenery and the quality of the wines! The sparkling red is to die for!!!
Loved it! It’s been a month and the effect the venue had on us hasn’t worn off! Will definitely visit again! Thanks so much Jane and team!

If you’re only going to go to one winery in Barrosa, this is the one! They don’t call it Icon of the Barrosa for nothing. I’ve been to wineries throughout Napa and the central coast in California and in other states. I’d rank Chateau Tanunda right alongside the best of those. The grounds are beautiful and the wines were all very enjoyable. Larry took care of us during our tasting and did an exceptional job. He was personable and full of relevant information. Don’t miss this one!

Ian was a phenomenal host! We had the Chateau Tananda classics and got plenty extra tasting wine offered to us. They are very generous. Stellar service, we managed to get a proper tour of the building as well. Stunning location, this venue is a must see when in the Barossa. These guys also have the best port I ever tasted! Highly recommend 👌

We went for a tasting. The atmosphere was nice. I liked that there were many tasting menu options, so you can have a different experience every time you go. We were also offered different wines its nice move . Also, when you buy wine, they do not charge any money for the tasting.

Excellent place. It’s 75 km from CBD. Wine was tasty. They have 100/150 year old wine. You need prior booking before you go there. Place was so crowded even on a week day. Staff were super friendly. Lot of parking available at site.

It felt like we are at ground zero of Barossa’s wine book. The tasting selection was stunning. My family and I had a grand time there. I’m a big fan of Shiraz and was glad to learn that CT vineyard has created world winning Shirazes. I cheekily took two bottles back home to Melbourne.
Vickie (our wine specialist) was outstanding! Someone give her a raise, she is passionate and knowledgeable and made us feel right at home!!
Absolute pleasure! Will be back!!!

Very nice experience. So much fun and lovely ride with two amazing, friendly and patient instructors.
It is a great chance to explore the area and learn about the history of how and when the area started to look like this.

Awesome time, took a little while to get my confidence but once i got used to it, they were so much fun. They allow you 15 minutes before the full hour tour for training and to allow you to get used to the Segway. They then take you for a tour of the winery finishing up out in the vineyards where you can really open up the segways and admire some of awesome views at the top of the hill overlooking seppeltsfield, they also allow you about 15 minutes of free time where you can have some fun within reason!!!. The tour guide was really friendly and knowledgeable as well

This tour is a must-see item on any itinerary in the Barossa. We were already very excited before we went, but it exceed our expectations even more. Shane and Ben were excellent tour guides, blending the perfect mix of historical facts about the property and getting the most fun out of the ride. There's no better way to tour

My wife and I planned a trip to the Barossa for a few nights. When we arrived in the Barossa this was the very first thing we did hoping that it would kick start a great time and we were not disappointed! In fact the segway experience exceeded our expectations. Doing the experience at Seppeltsfield is such a great way to kick start any trip to the Barossa! Not only are the Segways thoroughly enjoyable but the tour operators Shane and Jonathan were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.
Coming from NSW we didn't know what to expect visiting the Barossa but the Segway tour really highlighted what the region was about which is more than just wineries but also great history. We learnt a lot about the incredible history at Seppeltsfield and the area and during the tour had some great photo opportunities within the vineyard itself and also a few great photos with some of the heritage listed buildings (all which you cannot see at Seppeltsfield unless you do the Segway tour).
Thank you Shane and Jonathan for allowing us to have a great time and being so friendly and considerate! As customers we really felt valued from your excellent custer service. You both helped us feel at ease to operate the Segways and we had an absolute blast! Overall you helped make our trip enjoyable and one to remember!

Long-running wine estate offering an airy tasting room, tours, a restaurant & a picnic area.
A brilliant experience from start to finish. We had the last tasting of the day which we thoroughly enjoyed. Following that the gentleman who was speaking with us about the winery was telling us about the 100 year old tasting and year of birth tasting which we hadn't booked. After a bit of pleading they took us to do both which was thoroughly appreciated and well worth every dollar. This is one of the few places in Australia where you can experice history that goes back further than the last century. Top marks to team Seppeltsfield and appreciate you bending the rules a bit to accommodate our request it made our day 😀

Our first stop of the day, Nice lovely grounds of Seppeltsfield . When we stepped into the vineyard, it seems like we are transported back in time, Spanish villas and buildings. Lovely to soak in the sun outdoor with a bottle of wine. Their forte is in fortified wines. Did a tasting flight and got to choose 6 wines from the list. Nothing exceptional caught my palate but really enjoyed the grounds.

Seppeltsfield is one of most scenic vineyard in Barossa Valley. It is so green, beautiful architecture, well maintained gardens and it so serene. The staff are really welcoming and have a great knowledge about their wine. Now this part of the review can be personal since what you like can be subjective. Most of us who had their wine, we thought they were average and slightly over priced. I am definitely huge fan or their fortified wines and have bought 3 bottles but I could not bring myself to buy their other ones.
Robert L — Google review
Great stop for a quick port tasting. Stopped off for an hour at this beautiful location. A quick peruse of the art gallery was followed by a helpful member of staff being able to arrange a shorter version of their normal wine tasting to focus on their fortified wines. David was extremely welcoming and knowledgable (especially as it was only his second day!) After trying four of their fortified wines, we moved onto their skincare barn and had a great time trying out their products in their huge sink. A quick coffee from their coffee shop and we had to hit the road.
Would highly recommend for a visit, even if you don’t give the wine tasting a go!
For info, the wine tasting was free if you bought some wine. Otherwise, it was advertised at $15 per person (which gave you at least 8 wines… we only tried their 4 fortified wines so don’t quote me!). They also offer a tasting of their 100 year old port for $100!

Our group of 6 did the Centenary Tour, which was a superb multi sensory immersive experience. We tasted the fortified (port) from our birth years, as well as the 1922 centenary port. We loved the history narrative provided by our fabulous host David. All set among the picturesque settings of the Seppeltsfield grounds. This was a really fabulous experience- thoroughly recommend! Lunch at Fino was also lovely.

If you’re going to do one vineyard in the Barossa it would have to be Seppeltsfield. Beautiful grounds showcasing the history of this vineyard since 1855! Lovely to take stroll around, check out the architecture of the beautiful heritage buildings, do a wine tasting, have lunch & browse a couple of art studios & gift stores. Loved the Tawny tasting & cellar tour - definitely worth it.

We went here July 10th, 2023. It was a Monday. We went to other places prior to this so by the time we came here, it was closed. But they were kind enough to allow us to take a look around and take photos. I love their gift shop where they sell beauty products made with natural ingredients. You can even try them on. They have samples. If not for the limit on my luggage, I would've bought so many products. They're all so good! I ended up buying their olive oil soap (you won't need to use lotion if you bathe using this), and 2 lip balms. I would put the lip balm on some of my lines and they seem to disappear. Amazing!
Overall, this place is amazing for tours and stuff. If you're visiting Adelaide, make sure to visit this place. 👍👍

Seppeltsfield is the very first winery that I had the pleasure of visiting in the Barossa Valley, and it represents everything the Barossa has to offer. From the moment you step out of your car in the parking lot until you step back into your car, you are greeted with beautiful sights, sounds, smells, tastes and interactions. The grounds are lovely. We were lucky enough to visit on a beautiful day, so was able to enjoy everything that the grounds had to offer. Inside the winery, they offer tastings at their unique pod stations. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of the wines, and do their very best to match you with the wines they think you will like. I really loved everything about Seppeltsfield.

Rockford Wines is a historic stone building that offers sales and tastings of locally made wines, as well as sauces and chutneys. The winery features traditionally made, small-range wines, including reds from smaller labels like Teusner, Langmeil, Kalleske, and others. Visitors can witness the wine-making process and even see grape vines being shoveled into an antique grape de-vining machine. The staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the wines they offer.
My father-in-law recommended this Vineyard to us! It did not disappoint! It was very interesting to see the process of creating the wine. We were lucky enough to arrive at a time where grape vines were being shoveled into an antique grape de-vining machine. (if that's what it's called)
The server (Brett) was very informative and shared many interesting facts about the vineyard and the wine making process.
We left with 7 bottles of wine! (Yes the wine was that good)
We can't wait to visit here again one day!

Absolutely fantastic, unique and wonderful winery. Kris ran us through a free tasting of their 10 wines. She did a fantastic job and was very knowledgeable, friendly and kind.
The winery itself was beautiful, we were there in May so couldn’t see everything functioning. However, come from on Feb-April and you will see it all in full working order. It’s incredible. The old buildings and autum leaves were INCREIDBLE.
All their wine was delicious and we ended up buying a few bottles!

Prompts to Atonia (sorry if I butchered your name), who was extremely helpful in guiding us to finding best wine that suited to each of our tastes. Aside from the interesting back stories of each bottles, the brewing processes were also explained in a simple yet fun way.

This is possibly my favorite place in the world. 10 minutes from Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley, down a narrow dirt country road, is Jacobs Creek Retreat. Nothing to do with the famous Winery, this is a little piece of French Chateau in the heart of South Australia. Each native stone room is part of the original faming houses and have been superbly restored. The entire place would sleep no more than 20 people.
The grounds and rooms are an incredibly hard to achieve combination of Australian native wildness and manicured to within an inch of its life, French Chateau. The luxury os each room is undertated and yet still reflects the more than 150 year old frontier history of the location.
If you ever want to holiday in the Barossa, this is absolutely the place to stay.

The actual place is great.. really loved it. The pool area and gardens were beautiful. However, there was a mix up with apartments which meant I paid over $200 more than required. The establishment said they would pay me back. That was 4 Jan 22 and still waiting. Keep saying they are going to do it and never did. Very disappointing and unprofessional which is a shame.

A perfect spot for a nice romantic getaway. We stayed in the Cedar suite and honestly could've happily spent the whole time in the amazing spa bath. Gardens are wonderful to walk through and the complimentary touches really just make it feel special. Communication with staff was great, Jerry was happy to answer any questions we had. Having chromecast for the TV was a big bonus as well, we rarely left our room except to dine out. Literally the only complaint we could have is that we couldn't seem to get the shower to stay at a stable temperature, but when you've got that amazing spa why bother using the shower 😜 I hope we'll have the chance to stay here again

Loved the huge spa, the window next to our spa was great, we loved being able to open that up and have some cooler fresh air around us while we soaked in the hot tub, was nice to have the candles there too. Bed also comfortable and lovely. Room fixtures and character was gorgeous. Thank you Jerry for being friendly and helpful & the sparkling wine, cheese platter, fresh muffins etc, YUM. It must've been really hard for a family of four to live in this 500-year-old tree, which was hollowed by a lightning strike. Shows the resilience of early European settlers.

The Herbig Tree! An intriguing place to visit while in Barossa Valley in South Australia. Between 300 to 500 years old and in Springton not too far from Angastan. I have been advised by locals in Tanunda a family lived in this tree.

Interesting history of the Herbig family and still tracing/tracking their descendants online which I think is a nice little idea. Good to stop to check out if you’re passing Springton in between wineries.
All started when Friedrich Herbig called a hollowed tree on Peramangk’s land home and his family life began.

Fredrich Herbig married Caroline Rattey in 1858. There was no land available in the area when they married, let alone a residence, so they lived in the giant Red Gum. They were in a stone house by 1864 along with their growing family. It is worth the stop to to see the tree and surrounding features. An amazing example of fortitude and resilience!!

It is wonderful that this historic tree has been so well looked after and maintained after so many years. It makes a fun and interesting stop on a drive around the area and the information plaques are very well made and cared for. Easy to find as it is just on the side of the main road with a large area you can park in with more information and maps next to it as well as information inside the tree about the Herbig family who lived in the tree for 5 years (until after 2 of their 16 children were born).
Claire Page — Google review
The history behind it is amazing.
Still wondering how they lived in it.
There’s nothing much to see after that. So, from Adelaide, if you plan to continue on from the tree, it’s worth it, otherwise it’s just too long a trip.
There should be some more touristic things to do.
Not a single person in sight.
Lolitha Mendonca — Google review
Magnificent! The tree is an estimated 300 to 500 years old.
It is well worth the visit, but only if you are passing by.
Trevene Leonard — Google review
A 500 years old tree, you must see it!
Firstly used as a shelter for aboriginal people, this tree became famous after Herbig family used it as a house.
This hollow tree trunk provided a 'home' for Friedrich and Caroline Herbig and two of their 16 children until 1860 at Springton.
Historic Herbig Tree is located on the main road in Springton, situated in the eastern Barossa Valley, about 60 kilometres north east of Adelaide.
The Big Rocking Horse is a popular tourist attraction in Gumeracha, located just outside of the city. Lovely place. Gift shop is fantastic many wooden toys from spinning tops, doll cradles, trucks, rocking horses & much more. Choice of food is great & beautiful little spots around to sit & eat. Situated in bushland which is perfect. Highly recommend 👏👍😉

A great little gem to visit. Nice scenic drive. Cute wooden toys for sale. Nice sized animal enclosure to feed some goats, llamas, ducks, peacocks, an emu (who didn't want to take any food lol) and some wallabies to name a few. Give yourself about 1.5 - 2hrs here.
Also has a Cafe if you don't bring your own picnic. Heaps of parking, even for buses.
To climb the wooden horse, be ready to climb ladders. We mistakenly thought it was stairs all the way. It's not.

We had a great time, the goats are very cheeky and cute, the kangaroos were great. We had a fun time looking at all the cool items in the shop and got some lunch in the cafe. Of course we climbed to the top. The kids had a great day out, and the new owners have made some wonderful improvements, we can't wait to have a chance to go back again.

The toy factory museum was amazing, It takes you to your childhood memor, I hope they keep the place open. There is a small animal zoo, the entrance is very cheap. There is a toilet and some food available on the site, and the parking is big. We also had a peacock 🦚 in the parking by our car. The young boy in the reception was super friendly and is doing a great job.

We were here on Sunday (23/07/2023). This is a place where kids and adults both can have a good time. The Big Rocking Horse claims to be the world's biggest of the sort! You can pay $2.00 to climb to the top of the Big Rocking Horse and get a certificate!! There is a small wild life park with a $4.00 entrance fee! Animal food bags you can buy for $2.00 each. There are a small range of animals but still good enough for a quick visit and to take photos with the animals and feed them. Snowy the Goat can be cheeky! There are Peacocks, Ducks, Wallabies, Kangaroos, Australian Alpacas, Goats and Emu. Not to forget the talking parrot! When we went to the park it started to rain so we had to go to the warm and welcoming cafe! Great service! Chips and gravy were so yummy on a cold and rainy day and the coffees/ chai latte were so good. Perfect temperature! When the rain stopped they let us go back to the park using the same ticket! All the staff at the souvenir shop, park and the cafe were so helpful and friendly! Souvenir shop got lot of interesting hand crafted toys and board games and a variety of souvenirs. A must visit place on the way to Barossa!

Great location for a family day out , or even a causal couples date. Heaps to do from climbing the rocking horse. A lovely cafe to sit for a meal or beverage, or you can even go in to admire the wildlife animals , fun to feed them for only $2 a bag of food which is plenty for the furry friends to enjoy you. They even have a great toy shop you can grab yourself a little momentum or purchase a hand made wooden toy 🧸
Lovely destination to seriously suit all ages and groups.
Equip with plenty of seating area and even a play space for the kids that is fully fenced.

A great find for smaller children, but best to go early to avoid the crowds. Our kids enjoyed getting up close to the goats, roos, peacocks, alpacas and ducks.
The Cafe served good food at very affordable prices but be prepared to wait.
Staff were very friendly.

The atmosphere is so relaxing, food mouthwatering deliciousness & can walk upclose with alot of Australian animals, they sell bags of animal food so you can feed them too. Fantastic wood items & other items, great prices. Ample parking,

Absolutely love this place and it has a little farm with animals that the kids can feed. Ive Been visiting here since I was a little kid and would recommend it to anyone

An amazing place for the whole family to have fun, especially for the kids on weekends. The big rocking horse is quite scary for some adults because of its height but interesting for kids.
There is a toy factory and souvenir area with lots of pretty items. I have bought some magnetic and finger puppets as they're so cute.
The relatively airy cafe and bakery even sell ice cream and fairy floss. A simple zoo with gentle and friendly animals helps the kids get closer to nature. There is a small playground for children as well, with tables and chairs for everyone to rest in or a small picnic.
The parking lot is quite spacious and airy. The toilet is not so bright but clean enough.
Thanks!

It was a bit outdated , yet we had a lot of fun here.
$2 entry each to climb right to the top of the rocking horse , not advised for kids under 4 as the climb is up and down ladders. My 5 year old managed but was scary to watch from under her. However you also receive a certificate to say you climbed it. ( Great value for money.)
Also $ 2 entry each into the petting zoo and $2 for a bag of food to feed the animals .
Kangaroos , Goats , Llamas, Sheep and Peacocks !
We did this on a $10 budget for myself and one child.
Great value for money and some amazing pictures.
There is an on-site Cafe also the Toy factory which you go into to get to the animals.

This is a wonderful experience for the whole family. The Giant Rocking Horse is very impressive.
The toy shop is absolutely amazing with the locally crafted woodwork pieces. A true skill.
It was lovely to walk among the deer, goats, alpaca, etc, and feed them.
This is a highly recommended place to stop and visit.

Gorge Wildlife Park is an Australian wildlife park located in the beautiful Blue Mountains. The park hosts a variety of animals such as koalas, wombats, dingoes, kangaroos and wallabies. There are also many rare albino species to be seen.
Such a beautiful wild life park. The animals are clearly loved and cared for and the staff are happy to talk about the animals and share their knowledge.
There is a petting zoo as well, where you can pat goats, baby ostriches, chickens, bunnies and anything else that may be in there at the time.
There is koala holding for a really cheap price and it's so rewarding! There's also free koala patting.

One of my favourite wildlife parks in SA. Been a few times before but we recently went back with our 7 month old bub and they've added new animals which was great. It's not a waste of time to come here since they have lots of wildlife to show, but especially love the camels.

Great Wildlife park off the main touristy track. Easy access from the main road with parking available on the street leading up to the park. The staff were very friendly. Arrive early if you want to get pictures holding a Koala as the spots fill up quickly. Fairly steep incline in some areas which involve a bit of climbing/descending. A great selection of animals given the smaller size of the park. Very well maintained and excellent value for money given the price of other similar sized wildlife parks. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Lovely wildlife park with an interesting array of native and exotic animals. Is definitely a fun day out and I recommend giving it at least half a day to get around and see it all. The only downside is I wish they had a lot more signs/ info for the animals, especially the birds.

Had visited twice since I came to Adelaide and what a wonderful experience ! Got to hold cutest Koala and I forgot all my worries ! Great place to have some vacay time with your kids or family ! Definitely a place for animal lovers !
You can call and book tickets for animal petting and holding sessions before you arrive as you might find them all sold early. Sharing some photos too ! I just love this place !!!

Love this place. The compound is not huge compared to many wildlife parks. Happy that the place is not crazy crowded with tourists. The park is nice and cosy with open spaces for many free roaming animals like the kangaroos, wallabies, peacock and a variety of birds. Highly recommended.

Great wildlife park in the nice rural area. There is a good variety of native animals and birds to watch here. The fun part would be feeding kangaroos, wallabies & camels which could be touched as well. Great coffee and pastries could be taken from the cafe inside the park. Highly recommended if you've got half a day to explore amazing creatures.

Creatures seemed well cared for. As were not fearful, but interactive with me. Wonderful coloured birds & mammals plus more. A total delight.

Awesome place with a fairly wide range of cute and interesting critters, some lovely spots for a picnic and tasty light snacks from the shop if you don't feel like packing your own food.
If you're interested in holding a koala I would recommend visiting earlier in the day as it is very popular and tickets for holding the koala get sold out pretty quickly.
Looking forward to the next visit.

Lovley place, all the workers are friendly and willing to help at a moments notice. All enclosures are well set up for the animals. Wide range of animals and lots of opportunities to feed various different animals. Love coming here and will always take the opportunity to come back.

A great experience overall. The park is close to the city and is a nice drive through the hills. The park itself has a good range of animals in decent habitats. The wall through open areas with kangaroos and wallabies are great as is the chance to pat or hold a koala.
Signage and a 'best path' through the park are lacking a bit. The signage was the most inconvenient, always interested to know more about the animals!

The wildlife park is such a good experience. Completely worth the 30 minute trip that it takes to get there from the city. There is a wide range of animals, both native and foreign species. The park also has lots of spots to sit and take in the wildlife at your own pace.
There is a cafe on the way in and the food is really well priced and very good. We had a hot chips and a hot dog which were both very good.
We also took our son in the pram and all the tracks were fine to use it on. He enjoyed seeing all the animals and I would say the park is for all ages.

The Gorge Conservation Park is an incredible destination! The diversity of animals offer a fantastic opportunity for us to connect with nature. Having drinking water and hand washing facilities conveniently placed throughout the park reflects a thoughtful approach to for comfort and hygiene.
An amazing cafe with reasonable prices is always a bonus and also to relax and enjoy some good food. The availability of picnic spaces and a great outdoor BBQ area adds to the allure of the park, offering us multiple options to enjoy our time outdoors.
Reasonable ticket prices make it accessible and overall, it is a wonderful place to spend time, whether it's for a day out with family, a peaceful picnic, or simply to immerse oneself in nature's beauty.

If you want a reasonably priced day out , then head to this place.
Cost $90 for 2 Adults and 4 kids aged over 3, we took our own lunch/snacks and drinks and spent a good 3.5hrs. Lots of picnic spots, and places to sit along the way for tired legs to take a break or shady spots for a mum to BF.
Toilets were clean, enclosures look beautifully kept.
Only down side is the koala holds sell out quick, so book ahead, but the bonus is you can still have a photo and pat for free.
Can't wait to come back, we saw a mum & son doing a meerkat experience, which is something we would love to do next time.

No place in Adelaide offers such an experience! It was my first time standing so up close to a Koala & even holding her in my hands. It was such a great feeling… While they have more to offer in terms of animals you can meet & feed. Had the opportunity to feed wallabies, kangaroos and even camel. Rest it’s a huge park with many reptiles, birds and other predator species to see. Also the baby penguins & the otter have my heart.

One of the best place I’ve ever been. Animals are very well taken care of and are very well relaxed!
We didn’t book the hug the koala in advance so we missed out. However there is a photo opportunity with the koala for the public so it’s not too bad.

The variety of animals, from kangaroos and koalas to exotic birds, creates an engaging and educational environment. The park's well-maintained enclosures and knowledgeable staff contribute to a memorable visit. The opportunity to interact with some animals, particularly hand-feeding kangaroos, adds a personal touch. It's an ideal destination for families, nature enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a close encounter with Australia's diverse wildlife.

Best Zoo in Adelaide!!
Holding Koala 🐨 for just $10. (11:30am & 2:30pm)
The main part I adore this zoo is that traffic flow is effectively well management. It’s kind of wild but also safe at the same time with different animals. (I thought I were in Jurassic Park for one second!)
Reasonable price with heaps of fun 🤩
This playground is known for its fun slides, bouncy boomerang, basketball court, and BBQ stations. It's a short drive away from the Adelaide CBD and can be enjoyed by kids of all ages.
Nice and big playground off the sea shore housing lots of fun games. There are numbers of swings, slides, half court basketball court, as well as bbq areas. Great place for some fun among the whole family.
Anish Maharjan — Google review
It is by far the best playground we’ve ever went to. It is not just only for kids but also for kids at heart. The kids would love it more because parents can join them in these massive slides. There are variety of slides, rides, and adventure activities. There are slides as high as the mountain, where adventurous kids would love. On the other part of the playground, another set of spiral slides for more thrilling and fun experience. Additionally, for small kids who are still scared to go in the slide, they can opt to play at the kiddie/submarine playground which the kids would love to. They can also play in the sand or in the swing if they want to.
Another plus point is that the park is by the beach, you can go to the pirate ship for a change of scenery or to just take pictures. Just be careful enough especially with little kids during high tide.
There are also a lot of picnic tables, as well as covered ones. Parking and toilet rooms are also adequate for the playground’s visitors. Just make sure to bring sunscreen, water, and food especially this summer. We didn’t see any restaurants or stores that is very near to the playground, so make sure to bring your own food. Also, the playground is not open 24/7, so always make sure to check the website’s update.
Lastly, have fun and create beautiful memories with your kids, family, or friends.

St Kilda Adventure playground is out of this world! It is a massive playground with so many play equipment that can cater to kids and kids at heart. It boasts of the tallest, castle slide which is truly a representation of the St. Kilda Adventure Playground. It has 2 kinds of flying fox a big and small one. Several swings, monkey Bar net equipment, see saw, several slides and a mobility swing. The playground has a huge grassy area and equipment is on soft sandy soil The park is filled with covered seating areas with BBQ facilities. It has a toilet area, water fountain and designated place where you can bring your pets. It also has a beautiful old 3 level wooden ship with wooden cannons looking over the water.which is part of the mangrove trail if you wish to follow the path. The playground has ample parking areas however if it gets full there is a large parking area next to the boat ramp which also is also 24hour campground. Overnight RV parking is $8 non concession and $6 for concession per night. There is a Bait Shop called Tackle and Tucker where you pay your fee, they also serve fish and chips, cold drinks and fishing items. They have a dump point with bore water faucet next to it. The parking lot is flat loose gravel bitumen, quiet and we'll lighted at night. There is a toilet block next to it that locks at night time as well as the boom gates to the jetty.

Absolutely massive playground, something for everyone. There’s slides a plenty, swings, flying foxes, maze, pirate ship, climbing frame and more. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, plenty of cars in carpark but with the park so big it didn’t feel busy.
Even had an all access swing for the disabled

I can't remember how many times my family and friends have been here. This is one of the largest and most impressive playgrounds I have seen in Adelaide. Lovely children are spoiled for fun. Adults have space to exercise, chat and relax. Watching the sunset on the beach is also a plus point for this destination.
Highly recommended.

Where do I start, this park has everything from epic slides, a castle, shipwreck, toddler playground and much much more.
If you're going for a picnic there aren't a lot of shady spots so be prepared. There were a few tables with shade but they were all reserved by 930am.
It's only 30 minutes from Adelaide CBD so definitely head out.

Wow, what a place. Well maintained and free for the entire family. We picked a good day with not too many people. My daughter absolutely loved it and made new friends. It is a shame that it's a bit out of the way, but I imagine that is why it's not been trashed with graffiti and vandalism.

Oh, where to start!!!!
I'm from interstate. Was recommended to try this place for our kids (9 & 4)
They had the time of their lives. There is no park in my state even remotely like this. I love the huge metal super slides, a lot of places don't have this kind of stuff any more, parents are so 'sue everyone' these days. And the flying fox. So fun. So many big slides, and swings, stuff to climb, jump and swing. The kids WILL SLEEP after this ... do yourself a favour 😄
Roza Richards — Google review
Great place to take the kids out for the day. We even jumped on the Tram and headed to the Tram Museum, which the kids found interesting. The Tram family pass cost $28 for 2 adults and 2 children, entry into the museum was covered in the cost. I liked the fact that the kids could jump on the old Trams and ring the bells, which became a little noisy at one point... but worth it.

Awesome place for the kids. We were there mid-week while travelling and there were no people there so had the place to ourselves.

Firstly, no idea how anyone is rating this lower than 5 stars. This is an absolutely amazing park and playground. It has something for literally everyone.
It may be a little exposed, due to lack of shade cloth or tall trees, but it’s an amazing place for your children to experience.
Take your children here. Seriously.
Consider whatever you may… then just say yes. Do it. You won’t regret it.

Great park for kids specially, the sliding and climbing robe is beautiful. I often had seen beautiful sunset here too. But if you are coming at summer hot day you must put mosquitoes spray cause there are heaps of nasty mosquitoes in the hot day…

Excellent area for all to enjoy and kept very tidy.
Rated 4 stars purely due to missing the original Castle, Maze and Spinning Cage.

The Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is a 97-acre garden with a lake and extensive walking trails. It has a diverse range of flora, including native Australian plants like rhododendrons and magnolias, as well as exotic plants from cool climates. There are also sculptures and artwork throughout the gardens, making it an interesting destination for all ages.
Absolutely stunning!! Such a beautiful place to visit in the Adelaide hills. Parking is a flat rate of $4.
Multiple toilet facilities available.
No cafeteria or kiosk, take your own food & drinks with you.
So many walking paths, some quite steep.
Large Range of trees, flowers, shrubs.
My favourite part is the fern gully.
Multiple bench rest stops located throughout the gardens. It’s lovely how there is a big pond that you can walk around with a bridge crossing alongside it. Very well maintained. Gardens gates close at 4pm on weekdays and 5pm on weekends and public holidays.
We also saw a variety of bird 🦅 life.
The autumn colours could still be seen (April)
Excellent place to hike or wander with family or friends. There were groups of people enjoying picnics, plenty of space for that!

Beautiful & well maintained gardens. Stunning array of native and exotic plants.
I was not expecting to pay for parking. It was only $4 for the day and the machine only takes cards. At the time of this review the bottom toilets are being renovated and there are portable toilets instead. The toilets in the upper carpark are regular toilets.
Many of the trails are very steep and hilly. I would suggest proper walking shoes and carrying water. There are thankfully benches placed all around if you do need a breather or just want to take it in. I would not tackle some of the walks with young children, or anyone who has mobility issues. There are map boards at the entrance. I would suggest taking a photo of this before you head off. I did not feel there were enough signs at different forks in the trails so I ended up at a few dead ends. I did have to follow along on Google maps at some points to not end up lost.
Overall I still had fun. Definitely allow yourself a number of hours to enjoy the park

A beautiful serene place which really come live in Autumn / Fall. The riot of colours is delightful and good weather is just the cherry on top. We celebrate autumn every year by visiting this place , this year we hosted a picnic lunch for 25 people.
It was an immersive experience for everyone and we got some stunning pictures.
The only downside is the parking lots are not enough to cater for the weekend rush and hence lead to congestion and long hike. They need to work on additional parking spaces.

Gorgeous gardens. Lots of shady area to set up picnic. Coffee bus was an awesome addition also. We enjoyed walking around in the breeze and viewing all the scenery. Only annoying thing the road was closed for an ‘event’ which was no where to be seen and we had to lug all our picnic furniture up a steep hill to get into the park. They said the car park was full but when we got to the top there were plenty of free parks. We weren’t happy but didn’t let it ruin our day.

Beautiful landscape. Enjoy the calm breeze with family and friends. Open for public from 10am till 4pm (On Sunday). The rest of the days I'm not sure. I paid $1.30 for 1 hour parking. I think.... plenty of uphill walk, good for exercising or just slow and steady walk.

Such a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic, the change in seasons, good walking tracks, amazing trees and plants, great energy and fresh air. Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is an absolute treasure in the heart of South Australia. If you're a nature lover or simply seeking a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle, this garden is a must-visit.
The moment you step foot inside, you're greeted by a stunning array of native and exotic plants meticulously organized in beautiful landscapes. The well-maintained trails and pathways make it easy to explore the garden, and each turn reveals a new surprise of colors and scents.
The views from the top of the garden are breathtaking, especially when you visit during spring when the flowers are in full bloom. It's a photographer's dream, and every snapshot captures the natural beauty of this place.
The educational displays and signage are informative, providing insights into the unique flora of the region. It's not only a visual feast but also a learning experience for all ages.
Whether you're an avid gardener, a hiking enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the tranquility of nature, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden offers a serene and rejuvenating experience. I could spend hours here, and I plan to return many times in the future. Highly recommended!
Don't miss the chance to visit this botanical haven—it's a true gem of South Australia.

Amazing colours in Autumn! However, I reckon it would be a great place to visit any time of the year. There are a variety of walks - easy to medium. The lower carpark is the best option for the Autumn colours, otherwise you will be walking up hill to return to the upper carpark.
It does get very busy during school holidays and weekends, so I recommend an early start or visiting outside of these periods.
The maximum you need to pay for parking is $4, which is peanuts compared to the price of a cup of coffee these days.

Very nice park. Many options for picnic locations from wide open planes, to smaller clearings for more privacy. The lower car park is better for those that are looking to reach wider picnic areas while the upper car park is for the more private areas. As for sightseeing, there are many beautiful flowers and trees for you to witness. There also some local fauna: bandicoot, swans, ducks, etc.

Impeccably maintained garden which sprawls through the hills of the Mount Lofty ranges. The variety of plant species and themed 'gullies' were outstanding. You can take a short walk or a long hike but be warned as it is very easy to get lost as there are too many paths and not enough signs!

Beautiful gardens even on a grey day (like when we visited).
We walked around the entire gardens and this took about 1 hour. I would recommend taking a photo of the map, or printing one out prior to your visit as we found it a little tricky to work out which way to go.
Parking was free when we visited, as work was being done to the toilets (toilets were not open). Usually parking is paid.
Beautiful spot for a picnic on a sunny day.
The colours in Autumn are amazing (we visited at the end of March and wished we were a few weeks later to see the Autumn colours on show).

Being late April, there were few flowers in bloom, but the magnificent autumn foliage and it's contrast against a clear blue sky more than made up for it.
Miles of walking tracks, maps and seats provided on the way. As the sprinklers were on whilst we were there and with all the fallen leaves on the paths, it was a but treacherous to go down the steeper path sections, but nature is like that..

It's a pretty and peaceful garden to explore. Very spacious with large variety of plants. Nice spot for weddings or picnics. Saw a number of kangaroos roaming about. Admission is free. I would recommend parking in the lower carpark as the upper one is quite steep to get to and is a long way from the main sights.

Beautiful autumn colours. It gets a little busy during autumn weekends and public holidays. So be prepared to park a little further away.

Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is an absolute stunner with gorgeous views that took our breath away! 🌳 However, a heads up to fellow visitors — be ready for a serious workout, especially if you park at the top. The terrain is unexpectedly hilly, making it quite a challenge.
We learned this the hard way, but here's a pro tip: consider parking in the lower areas to catch a beautiful view of the lake. It not only saves you from an uphill trek but also provides a lovely perspective of the surroundings.
The exercise is no joke, and if you're not feeling up to it or aren't prepared for a hilly adventure, take it easy. The beauty of the garden is still accessible from various points, so you can tailor your visit based on your fitness level.
Overall, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, but just be ready to break a sweat if you park at the top!

Absolutely beautifull. We visited in April, on a Sunday. It was very busy but well worth it. The parking at the Upper parking entrance was completely full and the road approaching this entrance is very narrow. Steep decline to the duck pond from here and a tough short hike to get back- brilliant views, peaceful sureoundings and some good excersise.

Lovely garden, limited parking at the lower car park.
We parked at the upper car park and walked down. A must visit place.

Not many prettier places I've been. The most relaxing place to draw and write, but also to hike if you're in the mood for something more strenuous. A great place to visit any time, with anyone. I've spent hours and hours here for an amazing day out
