Make sure you do the short Nurim walk which is easy as it is mostly boardwalk or similar. It leads to a fantastic unobstructed view. This is important as where you first arrive on top of Mt Archer, the view is obstructed by trees.

Spent over 2 hours at Mt Archer, which allows you to take in the views of Rockhampton and the Fitzroy River. Fantastic views! Great Boardwalk! The road to the top is tarred. There are picnic tables and bbq’s. There are heaps of Grass Trees (black boys) Great place for a family day out! Staying around for a wonderful sunset is a must!
Linda Higgins — Google review
Nice view but nothing else. Just for a quick walk to take pictures.
Francisco Buitrago — Google review
Excellent lookout; well worth the drive. But don't stop at the "main" area (where the Kiosk bldg is), check out the "Nurim Circuit Elevated Boardwalk" which is about 100m away. But (IMHO) do NOT do the walk to Sliepner Lookout!

We only did a small section of the Zion hike and it was stunning. Really well maintained, beautiful views and vegetation.

Great family outing parkland. Massive Kids playground, BBQ, water zone (very simple) and a good variety of walking tracks available for a stroll or scooter ride. My kids loved it there. Will never go there again in summer though lol
Wang Peter — Google review
The Kershaw Gardens is an amazing playground that provides any childlike inclined person tons of fun from the water play area to the multi story climbing net. Put all of this together with a fully covered play area for protecting the family, this has it all. This feels great for the entire family and i would recommend it for all. Come and play in the park, have a BBQ then spend the afternoon relaxing in the water play. Do not miss !!

Beautiful open spaced Park filled with lots of amenities and seating. Decent amount of car spots available for parking and very easy to access off the main road.
Good weather, good times and good memories to be made here with the family.

Fantastic gardens. Great for kids with many, many things to do from play equipment to bike/scooter paths to explore. Good dog enclosure with agility course plus water play area for younger kids and numerous shelters available to use and possibly book for events or parties. Massive grassed areas to play/lounge or picnic.

Good spot ,fills before sunset. 🏜
A lot of water damage so small flat area and the rest slopes off and muddy. ☔
Still, it IS near town center and its free. 💰
Worth an overnight stay and a wander in town. 👍🏻

We had a lot of fun with this park, we were not quite prepared for the outdoor play but definitely will be next time! Bring your toggs and a towel just in case.

Superb playground for kids which has such a huge variety of interesting challenges. Toilets, cold water showers, Bbqs and plenty of seating. Excellent place with night lighting so you can stay a bit longer in the summer.

My kids loved it. 11 & 9 and they were entertained for over an hour. So much stuff to play on (hamster wheel, 2x zip lines, in ground trampolines, the massive climbing structure and two slides off it.) The water play area was cool too. Only wish the monorail thing was working.
Cory Morris — Google review
Absolutely lovely experience, so calming to walk along and take in the beautiful views. Walkways are extremely well kept, clear and easy to navigate. I wish those electric scooters didn't exist though, so annoying having people riding along the trails, forcing you to step aside for them to speed past, especially on the narrow parts.
Jake Eaton — Google review
Awesome park for the whole family. Huge playground with heaps of different areas for kids. Waterfalls are a nice and relaxing and the walk around the gardens is pleasant.
Lance Walsh — Google review
I thoroughly enjoyed my walk with my two little dogs, enjoying the tranquil combination of the forest, waterfall and quiet entertainment areas. This is definitely a place to visit if you would like to reset your thoughts and appreciate the beauty of life.

Beautiful gardens, a great place to go for a walk or have a picnic. It's amazing to find such a gem so close to the city. Awesome activities for children too.
Recreated town & lumber camp on 11 hectares, with period buildings, a visitor centre & gift shop.
Fantastic place to visit of you're in Rocky. The volunteer staff are very helpful and the $5- entry fee is awesome. There's a lot of past history and you can browse at your own leisure and time. I would highly recommend a visit for history buffs. Keep up the great work.
Jason Wilson — Google review
Had a really great experience at the Rockhampton Heritage Village today! Entry is only $5 and we started with a little tour in an old Jeep with one of the very kind volunteers. After dropping us of, we could make our way through some very well kept buildings and machinery. It was very interesting to see some of the houses that people have actually lived in and the stories behind them. I would definitely recommend stopping by to have a look and chat with the great volunteers there!
Jelmer Sijpkes — Google review
Really enjoyed it, spent 3 hours there soaking up the rich history that every building posses. Even got to meet some of the residents (a few of the horses) It's definitely worth a look for anyone with a love for history.
James Valentine — Google review
What a fantastic place that shows and preserves the way of life of bygone times. We got a ride in a lovely 1925 car and then walked around looking at the various buildings which include a hospital, a school, a church and residential buildings. Only slight negative was the piped music which was never ending and unnecessary.
Peter Eriksen — Google review
For only 5 bucks you get to experience a small bit of Australian history, run by volunteers this is well worth a visit.
Ian Pascall — Google review
Super place. Recommend 100% to visit. So much memorabilia of Rockhampton. The volunteers were so friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable.
Mandy Purdie — Google review
Great place to visit. We spent around 3 hours wondering around. We were fortunate enough to go for a drive through the grounds in one of vehicles. Must see place if in Rockhampton and enjoy your history
Peter Edwards — Google review
We went midweek, it was lovely and quiet.
Could take our time looking at and reading all the different stuff they have on display.
The Donkeys and Shetland ponies came over too see if we had any treats, they only got a scratch on their ears and head.
The magpies lined up for some treats as well at the Cafe, didnt get any, while we enjoyed a cuppa.
Paul Single — Google review
A well presented snapshot of Rockhampton history. The hospital and fire house museums were standouts. The houses, cottages, schoolhouse, blacksmith’s shop, the machinery sheds, carriage shed and motor garage also top class.

The Rockhampton Heritage Village offers an enriching experience at a reasonable $5 entry fee. With incredibly friendly and accommodating staff, this place exudes warmth and authenticity. It comes highly recommended for a visit, providing a captivating journey through history with its well-preserved exhibits and engaging displays.
Rhealistic Adventures — Google review
Awesome heritage village run by volunteers, super friendly, everyone wanting to share their knowledge, so much work has gone into replicating and restoring everything from kitchen ware to buildings to transport through the ages, really well done. Well worth the nominal $5.00 entry fee. Just allow plenty of time, shouldn't be rushed.
Julie O'Brien — Google review
Excellent experience, wish we had more time to spend there
Graeme Clemas — Google review
Incredible place to stroll around so much history, we arrived late in the day but you really need to allow 2-3 hours to see it all
Chris Abbott — Google review
This is a hidden gem of Rockhampton, only $5 to enter and the village is amazing, interesting and educational.
The historic houses feel very true to the era, and the vintage vehicles, clocks, hospital, school , church, firehouse are so fascinating to look at and learn about.
This is a great day out for the family, possibly older kids may enjoy it more as they may have greater appreciation for what they are looking at.
The staff are also super friendly and even dropped us off to the far end of the park so we would have time to look at everything before it closed.
Jacqui Tupara — Google review
Great collection, great history. Especially loved the hospital items and the old cars. We ran out of time. You def. need the whole day to explore. The tickets are very well priced, so if you love history, make this a MUST.
Museum in an 1899 railway station featuring a vintage steam tram & other transport memorabilia.

Archer Park Rail Museum, at $10 per adult, is a treasure trove for train enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Offering convenient amenities like toilets, a small café, and plenty of parking, it's a fantastic destination to immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Rockhampton railways.

Great history of the railway. Museum was well laid out and informative.
Had a ride point the petite choo choo which was a steam tram and the only left that works.
Rainforest Scuba — Google review
The volunteers have really put their all into this place. Beautiful displays and very clever soundscape on the platform with life like models. My kids loved the ride on the tram. A well spent morning in Rockhampton.
Rae C — Google review
Lovely experience! 10$ entry for adults, and spent about 1-1.5 hours there. There was a wonderful volunteer, Alex, that talked with us quite a bit and showed us little things around the museum. Even people doing cleaning stopped and showed us around! Above and beyond.
Jenna Schroeder — Google review
Absolutely fabulous. Well done to all involved. One of the best.
Leigh Halse — Google review
This is a nice museum with amazingly preserved pieces of history. Nearly in the heart of Rockhampton, inside the railway station you will discover how the trains of the area operated over the centuries and what it meant for the growth of the town.
Staff members looking after the place are always smiling and passionate about this important place. Enjoy taking a look at what the inside of the carriages used to be and get a fantastic photo of sitting in the train driver's seat! Lastly, have a ride on the tram cart that travels through the town, lots of fun for the family.

Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is a verdant sanctuary located south of the town that showcases tropical and subtropical rainforest, landscaped gardens, lily-covered lagoons, a Japanese garden and a small zoo with various animal species. Visitors can enjoy a tranquil atmosphere in the Japanese garden and relish local delights at the cafe. The well-maintained zoo houses several animals including koalas, wombats, dingoes and monkeys along with an aviary.
Always amazed to visit here. Love that it's so well kept. Animals all so healthy looking and gardens so well kept. The shop offers great food, with lovely happy staff. Nice souvenirs.
Mandy Purdie — Google review
The day we visited was very hot, so most of the animals were deep in the shade. But fortunately for us they slowly came out when the carers came to give the food . The Merecats , Chimps and Cassowary were my favourites. The family of Chimps played and the baby was sticking straw into the fathers mouth then pulling it out, very playful.
The zoo is a great size.
We don't get up to Rockhampton often but this zoo is a must see. It's free and only asks for donations.
Jane Head — Google review
Please pay a visit you won't regret it. Zoo is free, it's in a lovely scenic setting. It isn't a full zoo but knowing this before we went did not build up our expectations. The chimps were funny to watch and it is worth sticking around for their feeding time and chimp talk at 2.45pm. There are other feeding times for the other animals too. Be sure to pick up a brochure at the entrance to see the feeding times.
Please support the zoo by making a donation to the donation boxes dotted around the zoo.

One of the most amazing gardens you'll see. Some parts of it feels like a rainforest. Some very large trees grow here. The playground is nestled under all these large trees creating natural shade for the all ages of children to play. The playground itself is also amazing!! Definitely worth a visit.
Ken Tran — Google review
This place is definitely worth a visit by anyone looking for a cool spot. Free parking available and plenty of walks available. We went up one end which had the waterfall. This was amazing as there were plenty of turtles and fishes to be seen. There are also amenities and playgrounds at this place. Perfect for all ages and all needs!!!
Chris Chapman — Google review
Very odd bunch of trees. Still loved it. They have a tropical fruit section. Seems a bit unloved in places and has a strange layout. Trees from all over the place! Even arabica coffee is growing. Lots of birds. I even saw two chickens haha, assuming they escaped from close by housing. Not very busy even on a Sunday, most people hang around the playground or the lagoon.
Hannah — Google review
Great botanic gardens to visit. A good variety of exhibits from Japanese gardens to Asian fruit trees, a cenotaph and a lagoon with all kinds of bird life. It’s right next to the Rockhampton Zoo so allow at least a couple of hours if you want to see both. Nice little cafe where you can get a coffee and cake or an ice cream and sit and watch the bird life all around. Lots of Rainbow Lorikeets will come over while you’re eating and probably try to scrounge some food, but feeding them is discouraged.
Glenn Ferguson — Google review
Loved the tropical fruit tree section. Japanese garden has no water due to maintenance. Lots of shade. Kiosk with plenty of shady seating.
Allison Lee — Google review
The kids love to see the koalas, kangaroos, Emu, crocodiles and the apes. We didn't have enough time to walk through the garden and zoo but the little we saw are memorable. Hope to go there some other time.
Bola Awodoye — Google review
A very beautiful place to visit with kids or without for FREE.
The Japanese theme section was pretty calm and relaxing .
All the grounds were maintained properly with lawn being mowed. They do had covered bbq areas and a big play area with lots of equipments for kids to enjoy.
The cafe serves easy quick meals and souvenirs too.
A must visit place while you visit Rockhampton.

Rockhampton Botanic Garden is undeniably beautiful, and I enjoyed strolling through its lush landscapes and diverse plant collections.
The garden's well-designed pathways took me on a delightful journey through a wide variety of plant species, each more stunning than the last. The colorful blooms, lush greenery, and well-tended landscapes made for a picturesque and relaxing experience.
One of my favorite spots was the peaceful lake, where I could sit and unwind while enjoying the natural surroundings. The garden offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Rockhampton Botanic Garden is not only a beautiful place to explore but also an educational one. The informative signs and exhibits provided valuable insights into the diverse plant life, making the visit both enjoyable and enlightening.
However, I must mention that the area housing the bats was a bit of a disappointment.
The overpowering stench from the bat enclosure was a significant drawback to an otherwise pleasant visit. Additionally, I noticed some cleanliness issues in that particular section of the garden.
While I understand that bats are an essential part of the ecosystem, it would be beneficial for the management to address the odor and cleanliness concerns to enhance the overall visitor experience.
Aside from the bats' area, the rest of the garden was well-maintained, and the variety of flora made it a lovely place to explore. The garden's peaceful ambiance and educational exhibits were definite highlights.
I hope the management takes note of the feedback and works towards improving the bat enclosure.

Capricorn Caves is a well-liked destination that features an intricate network of underground limestone caverns, including a natural cathedral. The site is located 24km north of Rockhampton near the town of Caves and offers visitors a unique auditory and visual experience. A popular one-hour tour involves listening to classical music while admiring cave coral, stalactites, fig-tree roots, and possibly spotting insectivorous bats.
Stayed overnight at the nice campground and did the Explorer Tour the next morning. Everyone had lots of fun, including the children and teenagers. The tour guide was knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic. We saw an owl and bats. The caves were interesting and the tour just difficult enough to really be exciting for the kids and teens. Winding through sometimes narrow and sometimes low passages, the Explorer Tour was tricky for the grown-ups but well worth it.
Gayatri Aegerter — Google review
We did the Cathedral tour and it was well worth the visit. The information on the history and the animals in the reception area was very informative. The tour was excellent well worth the cost. The music played in the cathedral was absolutely beautiful. I found it very moving. We had a really enjoyable time. Highly recommend a visit when in the area.

We had such an epic experience with Capricorn Caves. Our Adventure Tour Guide Hudson was so supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable about the caves. We were very nervous after looking at the first tunnel & Hudson explained to us exactly what to expect - we were still nervous but she made us believe we could do it. There was no fuss if a tunnel was too small, an alternative was offered. I'm so happy we got to experience the beauty & fun of the caves. Hudson is a legend & anyone on her tours is in for a great time!
Bryony Black — Google review
I visited the caves, it was about 30 minutes and the guide was friendly and informative. I would recommend to come here if you have never been to a cave before. I would return with others if they had not been here. The cave walk was easy, a few stairs and the option to exit via the 'adventure' route. Its not hard but if you are on the bigger side or have a problem bending then it might be tricky. I barely squeezed through, the average healthy person would have no issues, unless you are claustrophobic.
Benjamin Webster — Google review
The tour was great and some information was supplied in german for my parents. We were able to get a free entry ticket with a companion card which wasn’t accepted anywhere else on our trip yet. Nice little selection of local made gifts. Friendly staff and nice food in the cafe.
This was our second time visiting and it was still interesting. Bummer we didn’t hear the bats anymore from 3 years ago but a tourist took a picture with flash and the bats disappeared. If you visit, please try to think about the wildlife.
Carolin Millar — Google review
What a great hidden little gem. We had an excellent guided tour that was easy to walk through, so not difficult for kids or the elderly. You do need to be able to walk well on I ever surfaces and climb and descend stairs though. Our guide was fabulous. They also do provide more challenging tours if desired as well.
Mike Martin — Google review
Wow, what an adventure! My partner and I stopped in Rocky and saw the caves as something to do nearby. Don't miss it! They're very impressive, and I've visited a view caves all over the world. We booked the Adventure ticket - 2h of intense (and I mean intense) exploration of the caves. Awesome tour guide, beautiful caves, and an amazing feeling of accomplishment after. Loved it!
Eike Bernhard — Google review
We went on the 90 mins Explorer tour. Our guide Drew provided us with great commentary about the caves, history and the nature surroundings. He did a great job with entertaining both kids and adults. And He helped us take some awesome photos. Our daughter really enjoyed the "crawling" part, it was so fun. Would definitely recommend to friends to visit.
Lishuo Xue — Google review
Our tour guide was Amber. She was so informative. You can tell she loves her job and the caves. We wish we did a longer tour. We weren’t sure what to expect so we chose the cathedral tour as we had small children with us. Highly recommend visiting the caves.

Wow, what an experience!! We did the 2 hour cave adventurer tour with Issie (the best guide ever!!) We were climbing through holes barely bigger than our bodies and saw some incredible sights. We had no idea what to expect before doing the tour and our minds were absolutely blown! It is certainly a workout and wear clothes that you don’t care about getting dirty. Prepare to get out of your comfort zone and definitely ask for Issie as your guide. She is so informative and absolutely loves her job! Such a good time and she gives the best encouragement.

Our tour guide was knowledgable and explained a lot of interesting facts and information about the history of the caves. The group tour was limited in what you can do however we still got to enter and be in awe of the various cave rooms. Definitely a must do if you're passing through the area. If you're a hiker or enjoy movement make time to do the adventure tour where you get to climb through caves.

The Caves accommodation is faultless. Clean tidy and well maintained.
We did the Adventure Tour with Drew as our guide. He was knowledgeable, engaging and full of passion about the caves and its wildlife. Beautiful and stunning caves.

We stayed a night in a cabin for two and in the morning did the explorer (medium difficulty) tour. Cabin was clean and comfortable with all the amenities and the tour was a lot of fun (quite challenging and a bit slippery after all the rain, but helpful and knowledgeable guide). Definitely worth a few hour stop on your way north or south.
Naomi Dempsey — Google review
Our tour guide James was great! We learned so many new things about geology of the area, the caves, forest and animals. The explorer tour is a great intermediate one, with some adventurous spots to go past. We also camped there, nice tranquil area with good amenities. About 20min drive from shops.
Elisa Cancilleri — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! I had a last minute change to plans and they were great about rescheduling to the next day. The guides are very informative and the tours are heaps of fun. I’ve gone back and done all three tours and loved crawling through the caves and experiencing the place like I haven’t been able to at any other caves.
Meggles C — Google review
Definitely worth a stop! We had the basic tour and it took around 45min. It was $90 for a family of 4. The tour guide was really good, entertaining and knew a lot. A really magical part was when at the cathedral cave he turned off all the lights and we sat in complete darkness and listened to Hallelujah song with excellent acoustics.
Egle Didvalyte — Google review
We did the Cathedral tour with 2 kids and a baby. Highly, highly recommend it. Great value for money, the staff enjoy their jobs and you can see that. They clicked well with the kids and really know their stuff. Will definitely be back to do the other tours available.
Could do with a bit more signage on the way out.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time here, our guide was very informative. In the Cathedral cave he turned the lights off for a bit and was playing Hallelujah, as the lights slowly came on again! The acoustics were absolutely amazing…. Magical!

The caves are amazing and we had an awesome adventure Tour including crawling through the caves. The Management / reception was not super friendly. They don't provide showers nor facilities to change or clothes for the experience as pictured in their Videos.
Keep that in mind and you will have an amazing adventure!

This was a lovely quiet place to stay. The cabin was very spacious & clean. A lovely deck with a bbq & a friendly bush turkey. There was also a short walk through the bush. We took the Cathedral Cave tour while there. The entrance to this cave was just like a movie set. Just stunning. Our guide Rory was very knowledgeable & enthusiastic. We saw some bats & their sound was just like running water in the back of the cave. Seated in the pews in the Cathedral Cave as the lights dimmed & the sound of “ Hallelujah “ played was just so beautiful. Thank you to everyone at the caves for their hospitality. Well worth a stopover.

My partner and I booked onto the adventure tour, we really did not know what to expect but were absolutely blown away by our experience. We had booked in for the 19th but unfortunately due to an accident on the Bruce highway, were unable to make it in time, but they were happy to give us a refund. We still wanted to do the tour so they booked us in for the next day! For the tour, there was 5 of us in total which was a perfect number of people to keep the tour moving and ensure health and safety. Our guide, Hudson, was absolutely fantastic. She was so engaging, knowledgeable about all aspects of the caves and clearly a skilled caver. We are both beginners but felt very safe in her hands. It certainly was a work out but we were rewarded by seeing interesting nature, historical facts and gorgeous views. It was also very good to know that the costs of the tour helps fund the important conservation work that is carried out on the property.

Our family (2 adults, 3 kids under 12yrs) visited in September 2023. We did the 2hr Family Adventure tour. The kids loved it! “Amazing!” “Adrenaline rush.” “A little bit scary, but fun.” Our guide Candice was great. There were some small holes we had to commando crawl through. I'd recommend wearing older clothes, perhaps something to cover your knees.
Dan Mueller — Google review
We did the 90-min Explorer Tour and that was just perfect (we were so glad we didn't settle on the 45-min Cathedral Tour). It was only slightly challenging, with a bit of ducking down and using hands to help get up and down certain places. Best to wear non slippery shoes as it can get slippery down there during the rainy season. Jackson was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. Looks like he's found his vocation in life as his passion for the caves and speleology definitely rubbed off. I highly recommend this tour (I'm also glad we didn't do the 2-hr Adventurer Tour as that would have involved crawling on all fours in tighter spaces).
Lorraine Hétu Manifold — Google review
What a fantastic experience, cannot recommend this enough. We signed up for the adventurer tour and it fully lived up to its name. We went with the expectation of just venturing deeply into the caves, but this offered so much more. Expect to crawl, climb and squeeze your way through passages you don’t think you’ll fit through (only if you want to)!
Our tour guide Beth was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and personable, and the perfect guide to this brilliant adventure tour. We learned about the bats and the rock formations as well as a bit of history of the discovery of the caves. This is all whilst pushing yourself through these caves into the different passages/rooms.
Don’t wear clothes you care about, including shoes. It had rained the day before our trip so there were lots of puddles and mud. Luckily we were prepared and felt like it added to the experience but just a bit of warning to people planning to do this!
I think this is such good value for money for the experience we had, and will definitely be recommending to people we know. Thanks again.

We didn’t stay but we did a guided tour of the caves. I have had two knee replacements and still healing but I had no trouble. Paths and steps very accessible. Amazing tour. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and mindful of everyone’s level of experience. It was great learning about the geology and natural history of the area, and the caves are beautiful. The only thing I can think of to improve the experience is adding the significance of the caves to the traditional people of the land.

We were lucky to have Sarah both of our tours the Cathedral and Explorer. She is very informative and our 2 girls had the best time up the front with her. So happy I pushed my self out of my comfort zone to experience the complete package, even though I was covered in mid by the end.
Well worth the visit.
We will be back when the girls are older to do the Adventurer tour.

What an experience! Once in a lifetime opportunity to see such an ancient and beautiful natural masterpiece. Hudson the tour guide was incredible and made the experience one to never forget.
Very friendly staff at this tourist destination. This location includes ample parking, seating for either own or purchased food and drink, and relaxing after a hard day of thunder egg hunting. Would recommend getting in early to beat the line for cutting the eggs. Some of the gems in the shop are a bit over priced, but there is some nice pieces to choose from outside.

A great morning fossicking for thunder eggs. The owner was very knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. It's good value for money, great fun and price included having the thunder eggs cut. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic day fossicking for just $30 per adult. The road from the highway to the tourist park was a bit rough, but it was definitely worth it. We definitely enjoyed the impressive display of rocks. A must visit if you are in rockhampton

Very clean facilities, stunning views.
The family and staff running the park were very friendly and helpful.
The fossicking was enjoyable and suitable for all ages and abilities.
Pricing was good and overall we had a great weekend.

Had a lot of fun, could easily have spent the whole day here. The owner was really informative and showed us how to search for thunder eggs. I would recommend going on a dry day as it makes it a lot easier to find thunder eggs in the dirt, but we went on a really rainy day and still found some amazing gemstones with beautiful colours! The owners were really happy to help and cut open the eggs, well worth the experience.

Great bush camp. Lovely owners. Had a fantastic stay, found plenty of thunder eggs. Will definitely be staying on my return trip. Easy digging.

Great place to come and search for thunder stones and Jasper. Plenty of help and advice from the friendly staff. After you have finished they check you bag of finds and even cut a few for you. All equipment needed provided.we had some nice ones cut that we found. If possible I would go during the week as it's much quieter than the weekend. We stayed over night in a powered caravan site $25 for 2 adults. Beautiful sunsets.

What a great place to dig in the dirt. Beautiful location with plenty of space. Basic amenities but who cares when it's do cheap to camp and you can look for pretty rocks anywhere you walk. At $30 the fossicking experience is definitely worth doing. I found some nice thunder eggs snd they cut about 6 for me. Very happy what I found.
Paula — Google review
Our family stayed here for one night and had a fantastic time. Site was powered, with a beautiful outlook and gorgeous sunset views and staying there meant we had time out of the heat of the day to go fossicking.
Don was extremely kind and patient with our son and took the time to explain what to look for and carefully go over what he'd found to see if there was anything worth keeping.
We went home with a few Thunder eggs to remember our time there and a beautiful piece of rainforest jasper to display in our home from the lovely shop. Next time we would stay a night or two longer to really soak up the atmosphere.

Unfortunately I had limited time out here. What I saw was a beautiful array of thunder eggs, petrified woods and a great assortment of stones. Am hoping to get back I ut here and do some fossicing.

Had a lovely 2 night stay here with camper trailer. Powered site, very close to water tap and washing machine, clean toilets, clean showers, had a great time fossicking for thunder eggs (which they cut in the shop right next to the site :) ) Owners are absolutely lovely and on top of everything. Would 100% recommend, especially for rock enthusiasts👍

A really nice place to stay. The showers are are basic but Hot. Toilets are roomy and clean. Not a lot of available spaces so booking is a good idea. None of the above is why you stay here. You've come for the Thunder Eggs. Fossickin is very easy. They literally bring up the raw dirt for you to sift through. They provide all the tools and are more than willing to offer all the advice you need. You will get a few free cuts of your stones and will have to pay for any more you want cut. We will be back next year

Great history about coal and the mines. The old machineries on display were very interesting. Unless you live near the mines, you don't really think of how big these machines are.
If anyone is in the area, it's a must to stop over and have a quick go through the museum / info area.

It’s wonderful pool here, the water is crystal clear and the staffs are really kind and hospitality.
Really enjoyed here and the ticket price is affordable as well (only $5 for adults)
kindly remind that here won’t open during winter around May to September.
JunHao Zhan — Google review
The Best training pool in Australia better than Southport Cairns and Scarborough in Perth. Salt water filters no harsh chlorine smells when you get out. But the most disappointing thing is they close it from Mid May to Mid August. It’s now June 26th and it is 31 degrees it’s hot and a swim in the pool would be nice. I am sure many locals would love to train and swim laps every day over the winter months.
Time to seriously Re consider opening up the pool in winter. If you agree please write to the local council and request to have the pool open up over winter so we can exercise and enjoy the sunshine in winter time.
Let’s open up the pool asap

Open September to March, Emerald has the kind of public outdoor pool complex that would be the envy of most towns.
The Emerald Aquatic Centre is packed with facilities, including a 50m international standard pool, a 25m heated pool, a shaded splashpad for little ones and a slide complex with three superb waterslides of varying speeds.
The entire centre was overhauled in the 2010s and, complete with shaded grassy space for picnics, presents a first-rate day out for families.
Ankit Patel — Google review
I recently visited the public pool and unfortunately had a negative experience with one of the staff members. The old man was impolite and seemed to have a negative attitude. It felt like he was being rude and crossing boundaries from small talk. Additionally, he didn't seem to be welcoming, as there was no smile. No wonder there are a lot negative reviews on google map that refer to the staff's attitude, which is concerning.
It's disappointing to have such an experience at a place that is supposed to be welcoming to all. I hope that the management will take steps to address these concerns and ensure that all staff members provide a respectful and friendly environment for all patrons.
Erika Ran — Google review
The old man needs to be welcoming and respectful. He is treating us in a very bad manner, even if we already paid the fees. Unfortunately, they are the only pool in town. Also, they are not listening to any complaints because they are the only pool in town. Accept it or go away.
sameh anwar — Google review
Beautiful 50 meter pool! So clean it puts other facilities to shame. Splash park, 25 meter pool, and water slides open at specified times. Includes a Cafe. Wonderful facility!
Myra VanOrnum Deyden — Google review
Well-maintained facilities but some of the staff could do with an attitude check. And I'm saying that based on experiences I've had daily over the past few weeks. On top of that, while I respect the rule that even non-swimmers pay entry, it would be easier to stomach if the 'kitchen' functioned much during the week (for those of us just accompanying our kids or families during hours of swimming), and if the fountain area and the spa were actually functioning at all. Not to mention the lack of life guards most days. Oh, and the 2% surcharge on card payments (even for payments for extended passes), without warning, is just another con. Pity it's the only place of its kind for miles. But own maybe that's the problem to begin with!
Rich Lindie — Google review
I hate public pools, always too noisy and too busy, but that's not this place's fault. What is their fault is that when I do get reluctantly brought along here by my friends there is never any hot food available despite all relevant signage indicating there is. The water slides are also currently broken because they literally cannot afford to maintain them. In dire need of more council funding in my opinion. Added an extra star because the milkshakes at the canteen are to die for. All in all, mixed feelings about this place so 2/5 stars.
CJ Gissel — Google review
Excellent place to spend a day with family or friends to escape the heat. The beautifully kept lawn is great for relaxing on when outside of the pool. There are also 4 barbecue hotplates available for the public.
Founded in 1987, these botanic gardens on 42 hectares offer playgrounds, picnic facilities & trails.
Awesome, clean, well laid out & easy paths to walk around. Amazing sculptures in area's. Plenty of picnic spots with seat's & grass. Bonus it's all dog friendly. Our 2 loved exploring here. Thanks Emerald 😊

candyrox 1 — Google review
What a boring, nothing to see Botanic Garden. Bad indication, unclear direction on the site. There is a dead rose garden. A rain forest incredibly full of bat, the bat garden alone would deserve 5 stars it is impressive. But for the overall park, poorly manages, not clean, full of dead plants and the dirtyness, that only deserved the 1 star. Haven't taken any pictures other than the entrance sign. The Brisbane botanical garden is far superior. We even haven't been able to find the centerpiece of the garden. Is it still there or is it just poor signage? Not worth the detour unless you are a Bruce Wayne relative.

Fantastic experience at Pats Gems! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and showed us the best way to find sapphires! We parked our caravan out the front and bought two buckets. Bobby dazzlers has been under new management since my last visit. The new owners are very welcoming and knowledgeable. Bookings are recommended to tour the underground mine as the tour is popular and spots fill fast.

Amazing experience. A must do for ALL ages. Age appropriate activities as well. The Tour guide’s passion spoke volumes and the patience with the kids was worth much more than the cost. Cap the tour off with the history and stories given by the team and the bucket of fossicking mud to finish the trip off. Great way to spend hours or the whole day.

Spent 2 days here. First day did the underground mine tour and sifted through a bucket of wash and found a lovely blue sapphire. Staff very helpful and will guide you through the process. Today we did the morning walk to the river and dig your own wash tour. It was awesome and yes we found a 44.5ct sapphire. Highly recommend this. Great food and friendly, helpful staff and owner. Came away happy indeed!

We had a great time and learned quite a bit from Jason on our first fossicking tour. It was a good value for money but if you have a group like we did just be warned a lot of buckets of wash to sort through equals a few hours. This would have been okay but we had a three and six year old with us and their attention span was over in an hour.
I don’t know which side of the bed some of the previous reviewers got out of. Keith, the tour guide was great. A bit of a rough diamond but very helpfull, friendly & informative. We managed to find 15 stones with 4 being suitable for cutting. This is our second outing with Keith & all going well it won’t be our last. GREAT DAY!
Mark Taylor — Google review
If you want the chance at finding a good sapphire then you want to make a booking to go out with Kieth here!
My partner and I visited Rubyvale for my birthday with the goal of finding a special stone together, the fossicking tour with Kieth was hard but rewarding work and definitely the way to go about our goal! We went out twice in a row! Kieth is cheeky, dry and fantastic company as well as extremely knowledgable.
Be prepared to earn your stones on the pick and shovel as you go at your own pace- my partner and I were very determined but found the process extremely rewarding. Our finds were made all that more exciting as we earned them with our aching bones and blistered hands.
We absolutely loved this authentic experience, and we will surely be back to do it all over again as soon as life allows.
Dave in the shop is also a fantastic help, he offers honest feedback regarding your gem findings and a great price to cut any of your winners. They also offer a number of great cast options to set your gems when the job is done. As well as hold a beautiful selection of ready made pieces or loose gems to set should you be unsuccessful fossicking for your own. Please give these guys a visit!

We did the mine tour recently. Found some other mining tours to be more informative. Tour took 40 minutes, to be honest in my opinion not worth the money. There is no family price. The young lady that did the tour was friendly but was clearly on a script. The lady at the store selling the tickets could have been friendlier. Lots of signs around the place that use negative wording, not very welcoming. A local recommended to do the Bobby Dazzler tour instead, but that is closed now, so don’t have the experience with that tour.

Interesting underground mine tour. Not too far off the highway. We bought tickets when we arrived however in busier times it may be best to pre-book. Tours operate hourly at quarter past the hour.
Staff went out of their way to offer information about the area and were very friendly.
Coffee shop on site as well ☕.

There's not much to do driving the Great Inland Way, so we were happy to make a small d- tour to visit this place. We didn't do the mine tour, but bought a big bag (€35) with stones, gems and and to see if we can find sapphire in there.
The friendly lady showed our kids how to do it. Explained how we could recognise sapphire and off we went.
This activity was such a fun family activity. We all worked together and managed to find sapphire. You can bring your findings into the shop and there staff will sort out which ones are the real deal.
You can start the mining part anytime during opening hours. It costs €35 for the big bag and €25 for the small one without any extra costs.
If you'd like to do the tour, the sign is only held every 15 minutes past.

Had a fantastic time with the family at this tourism experience at Rubyvale.
We did the mine tour, which was excellent. One of my kids did get claustrophobic and had to head up earlier, but the guide was brilliant and really accommodating.
Paying to do the fossicking was worth the expense. One bucket was more than enough for an hour of fun. Be sure to take your funds inside, the team will tell you if you found any sapphires! The kids found way more little gems then expected, they used their spending money to buy a bag of fossicking rocks to take home 🤣
My only comment would be that this provider does not use an online booking system, so correspondence was via email, would have liked to pay in full before arrival. But a small issue.
Again that you to the Miners Heritage Team on a fantastic experience.

What a great tour and activity to break up the trip from the desert to the sea. Informative guides take you well beneath the surface in tunnels to explore the previous working mine. The bats were the stars of the show and you must do the bucket to fossic through looking for a star sapphire.

Fantastic tour with all you’d expect of it. Our guide was local, a great storyteller with plenty up her sleeve, interesting explanations about all of it and good with kids too — not mine, I’m just a traveler, but there were families with young kids that didn’t have too much patience nor interest.

The Tree of Knowledge is a $5-million contemporary art installation located outside a train station. It is an upside-down milk crate-shaped structure that looks stunning at night when the wooden wind chimes allow dappled light to filter through. The tree itself is a preserved version of the original eucalyptus where striking shearers met during the 1891 strike.
You could stand here and just take it in for a very long time. It's a beautifully done memorial. It's worth going at night too, to see it lit up!

Great location to stop in Barcaldine to learn about local and Labor Party history. There is a walking trail (urban) with other informative stops and placards with a toy piano for kids. The tree itself is very large, with a structure that lights up at night. However, all things considered, not much to do here. Would highly recommend the Railway Hotel, Pauline (owner operator) is THE BEST!
Jaiden Patel — Google review
A beautiful memorial that I think looks it’s best at night time with the green lights lighting up the canopy. Definitely worth a look after dark. Lots of information boards along the street explaining Barcaldine’s history.

Got to show the kids some real history of the tree of knowledge, they loved it and are sad the tree was killed, they got to see it for really and the enclosure made for it, such a brilliant piece of history for the family and the country of Australia. Well done to the council for maintaining it so well.
Glynn Nielsen — Google review
An amazing view to the history that formed a political party. I won’t spoil it, check it out! The contributors to this magic sculpture and protection of the tree, need applauding. The entire area is filled with modern reflections on historical events, that while not necessarily great by todays standards, certainly shaped our country.
Brad Cooper — Google review
An amazing bit of sculpture, once you realise what it actually represents (the shape of the tree before some demented individual poisoned it in 2016 & killed it).
Interesting history in relation to its links with the Australian labour & union movements and, especially, the Shearers Strike of 1891.

Aomething cool to learn as we travel around Qld.. a pretty good stop and stretch your legs while you can walk around and read on the history.

Incredibly beautiful memorial placed at this site. The information panels cover the history of the strike and the development of the Labor movement and the construction of the monument itself.

Barcaldine is a beautiful little town with the Tree of Knowledge in the middle of the main street. An integral part of Australian History. Definately worth seeing . Free parking along street and toilets close by. It's on flat surface so accessible for everyone

It's a great part of Australia's history and is part of our genetic make up.
But was surprised it is at the train station entrance. Also the main street is full of pubs - typical.

Nice place to stop for some Australian history. Toilets and water close by and right at the train stop. Tables covered by trees very close and made a great place for a lunch stop out of the heat and sun.
This would have to be the best Australian heritage centre I have ever visited, the amount of history held here from all over Queensland and Australia is astronomical, from local history to major Australian history, was so much fun for the family, and even spotted my wife in the museum, kids had alot of fun and even has a playground for them, the staff are so lovely and made the tour so pleasurable. Thank you very much to the staff today. We will be back for sure.

Very interesting look into the history of the outback. Displays are well done and set out nicely over 5.5 acres. Lovely park area. We thought it was worth the admission fee of $20. Allow 1.5 - 2hrs to have a good look.
There's also a spacious coffee shop if you're just looking for somewhere to stop for a break.
Veronica L — Google review
Really worth the 2.5 hrs spent here!
You walk through early century original train carriages, police station, school buildings furnished with all the early school slates and memorabilia of the era.
Ots is a really large group of buildings surrounding a shady lake setting with seating.
Watch video of people and stories back in time of the shearing strike and origins of the labour party.
A new entry to the Heritage Museum is just about finished in the main street.

Friendly staff and great museum with interesting displays. Set in different buildings some of which are air conditioned around a lovely lake. The cafe looked amazing but unfortunately we didn’t have time to stay and eat. Not too expensive and well worth the price.

The Australian Workers Heritage Centre which is the only national attraction dedicated to celebrating the extraordinary legacy of working Australians. The Centre is spread across over two hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding a tranquil billabong, which presents exhibits capturing the spirit our nation's workers. Including the Story of the Great Shearer’s Strike 1891, 'Working Women' Project, a 'One Teacher School', 'Working for Health' exhibition, 'Kunwarara' Railway Station and the original Australian Workers Union Hall plus the original Celebrations Theatre from the Bicentennial Tour.
Add this to your adventure list, you won’t be disappointed.

A comprehensive look at an important part of Australia's social and political history. We stumbled on this almost by accident. It should be marketed more widely. Great value and something for all age groups. The grounds are worth the visit.
I was expecting this to be a boring display but holy smokes it’s interesting and fun and you can still see some working fan blades on the machines. Thoughtful benches and picnic tables throughout the short walk and a pub nearby if you need a beer to steady you after witnessing the glory of the machines.

Some cool old machinery

It's free to visit and makes for a good rest stop. Selection of machinery, old gun display including WWII weapons, bottle collection and other assortment of items. When we visited we were the only ones there. The most interesting machines there were the converted WWII tanks which were modified for earthmoving.

so many different machines to look at, and a mile long so good to take some time and walk to the end.
Worth the drive out, excellent 360° views, bit of a step climb up and the trail is a bit hard to follow but worth it. Had the place to ourselves the whole time we were there.

My wife and I drove out for a look. What a great drive out and walk up the hill. Lovely clear day and the view was brilliant.
Steve Drabble — Google review
This historical lookout is only a short distance from Longreach and we’ll worth the drive especially if you time it for sunset. The road is dirt but good dirt easily accessible for conventional vehicles if it hasn’t rained to much. The climb up is pretty easy, don’t mind the flys there just par of the outback experience. Make sure you research the story of captain starlight.
Jason Adams (Jase) — Google review
Amazing place where you can really get in touch with nature. I was there in the evening, so going back to Longreach it was getting dark and the kangaroos were really active. Really good experience.
Tobias Gemmer — Google review
Captain Starlights Lookout is one of my favourite places to watch the sunset over Outback Queensland. Depending on road and weather conditions, it is usually around a 40 minute drive (in a 4x4) to Captain Starlights Lookout from Longreach; and then a short walk to the top. 10/10 worth the drive if you have a spare evening. Flys can be a bit hectic in the warmer months (as can be expected in the bush) but sunset views are the best. Exercise caution when driving out there around dusk/dawn, there are unfenced cattle paddocks as well as roos, emus, pigs, birds etc that you may cross paths with along the way. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone passing through the region.
Anna White — Google review
The view from the top is nice but there is no indication of walking trails. Getting to see wild animals ( goat, wild pig, cattle, emu) is Made it worth driving through the dirt road.

Awesome experience of sundown over the Queensland plains. Road in is reasonable, outlook is stunning. Lots of kangaroo that are happy to leap in front of homeward bound vehicles in the dark. Take great care.

This lookout is located about a 48km drive, each way, along a dirt road. I wouldn't attempt it if it's wet unless you have a 4wd. We drove out there in dry conditions is our Impreza sedan with no problems. Took about 45mins each way, plus time at the lookout so allow plenty of time if you're going. We saw cattle, kangaroos and emus wandering around. Worth a visit.
Michael Jackson — Google review
We had a brilliant evening out here. Watched sunset and then climbed down before it was too dark for sensational night sky viewing. The rains have meant an overgrown and washed out track up and down the peak, so it was a bit treacherous, but this will sort itself out as tourist season progresses. The road is easy in a 4WD, but you need to be very aware of abundant wildlife and cows in peak condition on the way home.
Marianne Cullen — Google review
Amazing views of sunset. Is dirt road to get out there but easy drive. Not suitable for elderly or injured people to climb.
Renai Gardner — Google review
Out west you don’t need to get high to see a lot. It’s literally 30m straight up. Feels like a whole lot more but it’s a great view. Why your there keep on heading through to Muttaburra and do some exploring there as well.

We booked a hipcamp farm stay under the big hay shed, it was full with 7 vans on the first night very pleasant chatting with other campers, a nice small group. Very quiet after most of them left the next morning. Lots of land to walk or ride your bike around. Price includes power and they now have bathroom facilities with flushing toilets & showers.

Outback Dan is the best tour guide we have ever experienced, his family & homestead are absolutely delightful. Enjoying a homemade dinner in their shearing shed at sunset is a must DO! Top place to stay. Not fancy but definitely worth it for the quiet and open paddock outlook
Nathan Ackling — Google review
The marketing pictures and the description of the camp and facilities are not what is advertised. The camping location is one section of the front paddock, the camp is a Hay Shed and your site in the Hay Shed at best is 2 metres wide x 8 metres long and your camping neighbour is a meter away, and there’s one toilet.
There are MUCH better camp sites in Ilfracombe and Longreach!

In September 2021, we drove to Longreach and opted to do a five day Tour with Outback Aussie Tours. Visiting Camden Park and meeting the Walker family, was the highlight for me. Outback Dan boarded our small bus as we entered the property and we drove to ‘the hill’ where Outback Dan’s Mum had set up drinks for us as we watched the sunset. Along the way Dan described various aspects of the property and we saw Mum pig with several piglets. He also offered us a job cleaning his 55,000 solar panels. 😀 We were made to feel very much a part of this lovely family who like others in the area, have suffered the effects of a 10 yr drought. It’s a tough life but they have diversified to keep the property going. It has been in the family for five generations. Sadly they had been forced to sell another property.
After sunset we moved to the Shearing Shed where Brooke (Outback Dan’s wife) had prepared an amazing meal for us. White tablecloths, chandeliers and all. After dinner Dan took us outside for some stargazing and an opportunity to try whip cracking. The Walker family are very special and we were all made to feel part of their lives. It was a very memorable evening. Just wishing we could get back there again soon. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful supplier to work with! Outback Dan and his amazing family are always so willing and welcoming to all of our guests who visit Longreach. The station tour is so informative and really gives an amazing insight into life on the land. The tour is complimented by the delicious home cooked meal that is provided. A visit to Camden Park Station is a must when visiting Longreach!

The Walker family (the owners) give you the tour. They tell you about their lives and history of the place. Great country hospitality! Very nice historic home, with a large living room. Queen Elizabeth II visited this home. (I say that to show the importance of the family and the home at that time, I think it was around 1970, not celebrity adulation for the Queen.) One of my favourite activities in Longreach.
Frank — Google review
Dan and his wife Brooke are lovely people and gave a great tour of their homestead and put on lunch
We paid in excess of $250 to more or less have a peek inside their homestead and a cold meat lunch.
It had been raining so we couldn't get up to the shearing shed, however I was led to believe there appears more to the tour online that what occurred. Their website says artesian bore and springs, lookout shearing shed and working cattle and sheep station. This is not the case. When I asked Dan about the sheep and shearing, he said there hasn't been sheep in the property for years and years.
We turned up on the bus, drove to the solar panels, hoped off, looked inside their ball room and dining room and had lunch and left.
I feel it was false advertising and quite unjust for the money paid considering it would be $12.00 lunch.
By reading the reviews it seems dinner is a better option than lunch (we weren't given the option to book dinner)
The Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame & Outback Heritage Centre is a state-of-the-art museum that pays tribute to the outback heritage. The building boasts an impressive multiarched design and features five galleries with interactive touch-screen displays. Visitors can explore the Aboriginal culture, European exploration, pioneers and pastoralists, life in the outback, and the stockman's gallery. The museum is well-maintained and modernized with friendly staff members.
Loved the visit. Lovely big clean air-conditioned building with so so much history. Friendly staff, so happy and helpful. Made the visit even more worthwhile. Great Cafe and shop. Manicured Gardens. It's a really interesting tourist attraction. I mostly enjoyed the headphone aspect and the stories told, it allows everyone to go at their own pace and take in the history. Loved it. We walked through today and we there for over three hours. From the huge wide screen documentary at the beginning and right through the complete hall, it was very well set out, flowed well and was very informative with amazing sculptures and displays. The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame & Outback Heritage Centre depicts the lives and history of early bush custodians of Australia paying tribute to pioneers of the Australian outback. The centre is also dedicated to Australian stockmen who have shown bravery and courage. It does this through cinematic experience, self-guided tour with interactive personal audio devices and live shows.
The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre is an incorporated, self-funding not-for-profit company which operates without on-going government assistance. Money for the running and maintenance is provided from admissions, sales of souvenirs, catering, membership subscriptions, sponsorships and donations. So, add it to your adventure list to keep the dream alive, you’ll be glad you did.

This is a must see for anyone interested in the development of rural Australia. I saw it first decades ago. Now, with headsets that sense the viewers location, a smartphone screen gives choices of subjects that match where you are. Two things that set this apart from most museums are the quiet and the intentional simplicity. Even kids on museum treasure hunts don't distract when they are engaged and listening over the headsets

Amazing museum with lots of interesting exhibits. Generous how they used a headset for the tour instead of a tour guide, it allowed you to take as much time at each exhibit as you liked. Nice cafe and gift shop. Had a whip making station where you watched somebody make a whip which was amazing.

Great hospitality from Rosemary and her husband, while our family placed our grandparents on the memorial wall. I also enjoyed all the stories and memorabilia there. They have individual audio to choose the stories and linger as long as wanted with all areas i learned so much. The experience with the new technology I've never seen before is truly innovative. We travelled 18 hours to be here and it did not disappoint.

Wow.. we planned on just doing the self guided tour of the museum but decided on the full experience at the last minute. And it was worth every cent. We toured the museum for about 2 hours, then watched a movie about the stock horse that were sent to war. Then we watched the live show which gives a comprehensive overview of training horses and dogs who work the livestock. We loved it..
Qantas Founders Museum showcases the history of Qantas Airways with various displays, including artifacts, aircraft replicas and interpretive exhibits. One of its highlights is a life-size replica of the Avro 504K, which was the first airplane owned by Qantas. The museum also features interactive multimedia that tells the story of the airline's development over time. Outside, visitors can see a retired Boeing 747-200B Jumbo Jet and other airplanes up close.
Very informative. It's fascinating to learn the history of Qantas. The problems faced by pioneers of air travel. The light show on the evening is a must see. Three cheers for the wonderful staff and guides. Since, it's a community based operation,I think everyone should get out there and support the effort. 👍🙏

Loved this place, did a premium tour, was fantastic. We had tour guide Bryce, his story telling made the tour what it was, only wished I did the bigger tour…. The only way to get into where the planes are is to do a tour, I think we’ll worth the extra cost. The only suggestion I have, is to print a book with detailed pictures of the aircraft under the hanger along with the story of each aircraft as per what Bryce told us, and this book only offered to those that did the tour! I’ll be back when I retire and become a grey nomad.

Absolutely worth a visit to the Qantas Founders Museum.
The Museum offers a wide variety of museum Pieces which is great for everyone. There is a flight simulator for Kids and Adults Alike, with interactive tables and electronic audio features to guide you through the museum. Each piece has its own individual explanation.
The entire museum is incredibly detailed. Even the Carpet has a story behind it!
The Air Park tour and Luminescent Longreach are definitely the most best and most cost effective tours. Air Park tour allows you to enter into 4 aircraft however Our Tour Group did not enter the DC3. The Boeing 747 is the signature piece, with the Air Park tour allowing access into Both Decks and the Cockpit.
Luminescent Longreach is a 28 minute show that really is great. A light show is projected onto the side of the Boeing 747, with other small sections projected onto the 707, Super Constellation and DC3. Just a warning though, the Luminescent show does have flashing lights and fake smoke which may cause issues for some.
There is also the McGinnes Restaurant which serves a variety of food with large portions. However, on the restaurant the Cleaning of tables could be alot faster.

Visited june, so people on route to big red bash and on school holidays etc were in Longreach. Very busy! Great history of QANTAS. Expensive for what it is. You would still visit though. Consider online booking as wing walks etc sell out quick. Watch the videos, it saves a lot of reading. They missed an opportunity, the toilets should mirror airline loo doors and the front entry could open like an aircraft hatch.

NOT funded by Qantas at all. Non for profit. The money spent by us the tourist is what keeps this amazing adventure going. The indoor museum by day, plus you can purchase tickets for the guided tour by Drew. And the Luminescence show at night with Drew and Rory.

Great place to learn about the history of the aviation industry of Australia. Start up from scratch to the worldwide airline and become a national airline. Keep in mind that If you buy the premium economy tickets, it doesn't include the wing walk. Also allow yourself at the museum at least 1.30 hrs. before the airpark tour start.
PS. Book your ticket in advance as it quite busy during school holidays

Such a great way to learn about our aviation history. I recommend doing the wing walk and cockpit experience. You learn just that bit extra then the standard tour (which by itself was pretty awesome), and when will you get another chance to stand on the wing of a jumbo? Our guide, Bryce, is a walking encyclopaedia of aviation and made the tour very enjoyable for all. Lunch in the restaurant was delicious.

The Qantas museum was awesome and it’s definitely worth paying the money to do the guided tour of the planes out the back. Hamish was our guide who was awesome and incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. We got to go into all of the planes and it was great to hear all about their history. We didn’t book in advance as it was off peak when we visited but apparently this is definitely a requirement during peak season.

Thoroughly enjoyed our tour with John who was very informative and provided some laughs along the way. Very interesting to learn so much about the planes that they have on site. We particularly loved being able to sit in the cockpit and to do the wing walk.
Only disappointment was we ran out of time to finish in the museum.
Also have some great memorabilia for purchase.

I highly recommend a visit and tour of this museum. We started with a good, reasonably priced breakfast and then spent the next hour and a half with our guide, John. He has a wealth of knowledge, was able to answer all our questions, and was a pleasure during the tour. We took the 'premium economy' tour and over the next 90 minutes learned about the birth of Quantas airlines, looked at numerous planes that played a role in Australia 's aircraft industry, and walked through several of the larger ones. All in all a very good tour.

Super unfriendly and unhelpful lady that served me. Out of all the info centres I have been to, would be one of the most unfriendly so far on the trip!
Hopefully you were just having a bad day! ✌️🙌
