Point Nepean National Park is a beautiful park on the Mornington Peninsula with hiking trails and bike hire. It's also a National Park, which means it has historic forts and a visitor center. The park is especially nice for nature lovers, as you can hike through rugged terrain and see some of the remnants of military buildings and forts.
Point Nepean National Park is wonderfully scenic with many native birds and animals. There is so much to explore in this fascinating historic part of Victoria.
We walked around just a small part of the national park and look forward to coming back again to discover more.
There are many historic buildings and reminders of what was one of the most fortified ports in the Southern Hemisphere.
Allow at least half a day to take in the sights. For example, you could easily spend half an hour in Gunners Cottage soaking up some of the history.
You can also cycle around the large park or take the Point Nepean shuttle bus for part of the journey.
A great place for a picnic too :-)

This is a magnificent spot for people of all ages.
There are so many things to do; walking, bike riding, picnic, kids park or just enjoy the beach. If you like learning a little history, there are sign posts along the way.
The walking is relatively easy, and you can take it at your own pace. 7.6km return to the Fort.
There is also a bus, if you're not up for a long walk. The bus is $12 per adult.
Certainly worth a visit.
Jackie Brown — Google review
Great place to explore. There’s a lot of trails that you could try. They’re also offering $12 for shuttle bus but tbh, walking is a lot better. Great views everywhere, you could explore better and at your own pace. Great for anyone even for families with small children.
Tanya Bins — Google review
The park is worth visiting. The route is quite long (almost 5 km) if you decide to walk from the bike rental station to the forts themselves. You can rent a bike. Beautiful nature surrounds the area. An interesting place is the tent city. You can rent a tent, and the sea is just a stone's throw away from the tent location. The forts themselves didn't make a strong impression. The artillery guns have been dismantled. I think leaving one gun on the platform would add to the experience for both adults and children. Since the structures are not in use, everything is slowly crumbling. I think it would be possible to create some interesting exhibitions inside the fort buildings. In general, my ratings on a five-point scale: nature 5+, forts 4. And yes, when you reach the entrance to the bay, you'll be treated to beautiful views of the ocean.

Plenty of car parks even on busy days. Plenty of area to play sports or for whatever you desire to do.
Beach is close and semi kid safe. Didn't see any sharks anyway.
Toilets, shelter, table and chairs... Great spot.
Bailey Plaisted — Google review
Absolutely beautiful national park with amazing scenery and historic landmarks to explore. The walking track wasn't too difficult and the views along the way were spectacular! Spacious car park and quite a few tables for picnics with toilets available. Highly recommend visiting this park!
John Nguyen — Google review
Huge national park that can only be explored on foot. You gotta park your car and get steppin', toilets are sparse so make sure you go. Lots of information on the ruins around and great sights to see. There's a shuttle bus from the car park by the information centre to the fort on the point but it doesn't run to schedule. Watch out if you think you're going to get the last bus back because it will probably be too full to take you on peak days.
Ashkan — Google review
Beautiful hike for a sunny day!
There are 🚲 (+electric) that can be rented out for the day (I'd recommend booking them prior to the trip, as they are usually unavailable on the day)
Bus is available to pick and drop you off at various points ($8 one way per person)
Many lookouts along the park. Ensure you carry a bottle of water with you.
Rukshi Dominic — Google review
It's a great place to spend a day. You get a lot of places to see, BBQ spots and plenty of relaxing areas. You could hike to check out the fort Nepean which would take about 2-3 hours to complete. There is a shuttle bus as well but the last one is around 4pm.

Point Nepean Portsea Market located at the National Park near the Quarantine Station. A must visit if you are in the area and looking for a gift. There are many stoleholders selling their handmade unique products. While you do your shopping. You can enjoy the view of the sea and the historic buildings.

What a magnificent National Park!! It's a must visit place if you are in Port Sea. No need to pay for parking even though it's a National park, it does get busy as it is very popular. Lots of great tracks, there is wheelchair access tracks as well. You can also take a bike go for a nice ride, it does have a few hills so make sure you take it easy and bring water along. If you have time bring a backpack 🎒 with a picnic and pic a spot to enjoy the scenery. Enjoy I will be definitely going back there soon. PS:There is a bus service if yo get to the end and can't be bothered/tired to walk back.

Fort Nepean is a hidden gem located at the very tip of Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne where you’ll amaze your eyes with those underground tunnels that were used during world war 1 & 2, and the scenic views around. Catch the shuttle from the car park or take a breathtaking walk and thank me later😄❤️
Shyami Anuradha — Google review
I spent the entire morning hiking, and the scenery along the way was absolutely stunning! You can also choose to ride a bike or take a shuttle bus, which costs $12 for a round trip.

Great walking trails! $12 for a shuttle bus but you better walk hun! It’s a wonderful park for families to explore and spring is a great season to go!

Beautiful place for a nice long walk whilst also exploring the old structures and war sites. We also saw lots of surfers right at the peak too catching some decent waves.

Great walk or cycle for people of all ages. The walk down to Fort Nepean is a good one. We cycled today with our 7 and 3 year old and they loved it. There is a shuttle bus between the different sights if you would rather. Pack a picnic as there is no food sales in the park. But plenty of beautiful places to stop for a snack. The history of the site is really interesting.
Janelle Browne — Google review
This is one of the best walking tracks in this area!! All the scenes and landscapes are magnificent and you'd hardly feel like you're doing a physical activity. There's also a bus in between the carport and port napean if you like you can use it. I'll visit again and would recommend this amazing walk to all nature lovers!!

Very accessible, great bike ride on a car-free road out to the point. Good pedestrian shuttle bus and some food and drink outlets closer to the entrance. Rent an e-bike at Gunners Cottage and take a picnic. Lots of lovely walks taking in the rugged coast and beautiful Bay. Toilets at the point, Fort Nepean, and some picnic tables.

Point Nepean National Park is an absolute treasure on the Mornington Peninsula! 🌿 The coastal walk offers an immersive experience in nature, with breathtaking views of Bass Strait and Port Philip Bay.
The historical sites, including Fort Nepean and the gun turrets, provide a fascinating glimpse into Australia’s wartime past. Walking through the coastal bush and arriving at Cheviot Beach was a highlight - the Harold Holt Memorial is a poignant reminder of history.
The park’s accessibility from Melbourne (just a 1.5-hour drive) makes it a perfect day trip destination. The well-maintained trails and informative signage made exploring a breeze.
Don’t forget to bring comfy sportswear, sunscreen, and plenty of water. This adventure is well worth it! 🥾🌞
Overall, Point Nepean National Park is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts, history buffs, and anyone looking for a memorable day out. It’s a place where the beauty of the Australian coastline meets its rich cultural heritage. Can’t wait to return for more exploration! 🚶♂️🌊

What a wonderful National Park. If you are visiting the Mornington Peninsula, this is a must do! If you have a bike, even better (otherwise you need to catch the National Park's shuttle bus or walk). There is an information center, toilets, water outlets, a little coffee station, beautiful views and lots of history. Take your time! There are several walking trails, some are wheel chair accessible. If you are lucky, you can spot wildlife (I found an Echidna).
Tina Schmidt — Google review
This is a great place for a scenic walk - especially when staying down the coast.
Have walked this twice and returned today to run it. Always thoroughly enjoy it.
6km walk / run alternatively can check the bus schedule which goes from the carpark.
Decent amount of parking- best to do this early morning to avoid the heat on a sunny day. Basic bathroom facilities located at carpark.
Ryan Martin — Google review
This is such a beautiful park located in the Mornington peninsula. You can walk, cycle through this amazing landscape or even or take the shuttle bus up to the Fort Nepean. It is about 2-3 km from Gunner’s cottage car park to the Fort Nepean which will take around 40-45 minutes to walk.
Sunscreen, hats, shades are a must if you are visiting this place during a sunny day because there is no much shade on your way to the Fort. We walked to the Fort and on our way back to the car park we came by the shuttle bus. The shuttle is available every 30 minutes.
You can also visit the Quarantine station which was used to quarantine people arriving in Victoria.
I prefer walking or cycling as you can enjoy the panoramic ocean views. One of the must visit places.
Loraine Angammana — Google review
A historically rich site with magnificent views! Great place to walk or cycle. There is a shuttle bus from the quarantine station that takes you to fort nepean for convenience. It is not frequent so check a timetable.
E bikes are available to hire from the quarantine station.

Very nice walking track , also buses for ride are available , view is incredible, I enjoy every time.
You also could biking till end of track and watch the amazing view and little museum.

Very picturesque on a sunny day! Put on lots of sunscreen as there isn't much shade for hiking. Shuttle bus service is available at $12, service closes at around 4pm.
Great walk but this car park is currently inaccessible due to road closures - detour via Western Treatment Plant is a private road with restricted access.
Make sure you park at Weribee Park Mansion instead! Don't waste following a non-existent detour like I did.
Robert Danks — Google review
Lovely river walk where dogs are welcome. No shade but easy path, nice views. Note, the road to the car park is full of large potholes and requires a lot of manoeuvring to avoid. Not unsafe but not everyone would enjoy this road.

There is very limited section where you can take a dog with you, even on leash. Beautiful scenery though.
The Blues Train in Queenscliff, Victoria, offers a unique and enjoyable entertainment and dining experience. Running from August to May, this steam train provides a mini-festival atmosphere with live blues music and themed dining. Guests can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience of dining aboard a moving train while being entertained by blues musicians. The food served on board is also musically themed, adding to the overall experience.
Had the absolute best time ever. Music was amazing and the fact you got to see 4 different acts in the one night was fabulous. Haven't smiled so much in such a long time.
Anne Hamilton — Google review
This was a night I will remember. But the food and eating of our lap were low grade. I don't know why they didn't have more tables. The music and train were so awesome. We left happy. But the start of the night needs a lot of improvement. It might have been better having a meal at the pub before. I felt food was being stretched out. Not enough tables and chairs.???

Great night out for Blues lover. We really enjoyed the night and hospitality from the Blues Train crew. Upon check in, we had some trouble with our ticket, the owner was very kind and flexible to sort out our ticketing problem. Enjoyed the music throughout the journey and definitely recommend for those love music, I will come back again for this experience!
Yoshiki Yamamoto — Google review
I was in a wheel chair and was given my own security guard to help me. I can not talk more highly of Laud and the service the Blues Train gave me to ensure I was safe, taken care of and had a good night.
I would suggest a couple of things.
That the tables in the carriages are cleaned prior to people entering
That the warm foods are kept warmed.
As the meats and veggie options where cold.which was not good when we were the second carriage.
I felt for the people after us.
Also I had arranged with you prior to have a fish option.
It was not available on the night.
We understand that you have a major mozzie problem down there at the moment , so maybe think of spraying the carriages at the beginning of the night.
This suggestions would not stop me recommending The Blues Train.
It is a fabulous night out.
This was not my first visit, I enjoyed it as much or more then my last visit.

A unique way to experience a night out with live entertainment and a meal, thankfully the weather was kind although cold did not rain or lining up for the bar would not have been a pleasant experience. Moving from carriage to carriage at each stop was seamless, would have loved the music brackets to have been longer, just a suggestion eat in one carriage and music in the other 3. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the night thank you.

First time travellers Saturday night!
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed by all the crew! The food was delicious & the atmosphere was awesome. Now to the artists, each carriage was unique but all so incredibly talented & without you guys there wouldn’t be no Blues Train!!
Such a fun night …. Definitely a must do

Been to the Blues Train many times and love it. The music is always great, the food they serve you before you leave is well cooked, tasty, good variety and plenty of it. It's very well organised and thankfully no more drunken yobs you had to put up with many years ago. Everyone has a great time with great Blues music. Do it at least once, and there's a fair chance you'll be back

Great music, food was enjoyable & drinks were good. Although no Chardonnay, or scotch & dry. Had to settle for our second preference in drinks. Fun moving in between the different trains for 4 different music acts. An enjoyable night.

Our group of 4 enjoyed a Saturday night Blues Train experience. It was a very cold night but fortunately we did not have to wait long to board our carriage. While we waited our turn to be called to the buffet meal, we were able to purchase our drinks for the first part of the evening. There are some negatives about this experience and one is that we could not bring our own water on board and had to pay $5 for a bottle of water. I didn't mind that there was no BYO for alcoholic drinks but think the policy on water should change. The buffet had more than enough food for everyone. It's quite a crowd, 208 passengers if fully booked which it was that night. The food is fairly average - good quality but certainly not fine dining. Although you could go back for seconds, I did not feel inclined to eat more. The quality of the wine available was OK. Eventually the train was underway and we spent the next 3.5 hours enjoying 4 different blues entertainers. Each was quite different but all exceptionally enjoyable. The 2 bands really got the passengers energised and there was a lot of dancing and singing in the carriages that had room for this. During the second act that we enjoyed, there was one person who appeared to have drunk too much and was spoiling the experience for others who wanted to enjoy the music or dance without interference. At the next station break that individual disappeared and I hope that it was management security that took the initiative to remove him. So there were some negatives but I have to rate the total experience as a 5/5 - it is really unique and a fun time. My taste in music is broad but I could enjoy the focus on blues.

A fun night out! 4 carraiges, 4 blues acts and good vibes! Other passengers were up for a chat, food was good, buffet style, drinks to purchase and you can buy your own ice bucket to carry your drinks around with you for the night. If you like a party you can get up and dance as the train rolls on, which is a great time, or you can sit back and enjoy the music. We stayed at the Vue Grande just a short walk to the train and enjoyed a lazy breakfast in Queenscliff the next morning. Perfect for a date night or take some friends down for a fabulous fun weekend away! Highly recommend The Blues Train.
Mary Whitehead — Google review
How could you NOT have a brilliant time! Friendly staff, a crowd who are ready to have fun and enjoy the music. The musicians were terrific, each had their own story and own style and clearly loved performing for us. Post covid, this brought a lot of carefree fun back into a night out.
Dee Houlihan — Google review
If you love the blues, this is a five star experience waiting for you.
I recommend doing this when it is daylight savings so you get to enjoy the views of the water until late into the night. It got dark pretty early on our trip which was a shame. But the views we enjoyed when it was light were pretty exceptional!
Dancing whilst moving in an old red rattler is quite the experience. Highly recommend for the giggle value. Not many danced in our carriage.
Moving between the four carriages at every platform is fun.
It would be a perfect way to party if you could fill a carriage with your friends.
It would also be great if there were more food options available at each platform rather than just alcohol. Desert on the platforms in between performances would be good as there is a lot of milling around on the platform in between gigs.
By the time we got home at 12:30am we were all so hungry and sat up having a late night snack. Not something I ever do but we danced all night and worked up quite the appetite.
BYO metal bucket for transporting your drinks is a good idea to keep your drinks from toppling over. Regulars buy a Blues Train metal bucket which they bring with them.
You can’t take any drinks out of the venue so keep that in mind when you buy drinks. Or the other option is if you are happy to swill at the gates before you exit. 🥴
BYO munchies is something I would recommend for when you are sitting around listening to music.
The night we did the Blues train there was a restaurant train on another line. We went past it on our way then got stuck when the restaurant train broke down blocking us from returning to Queenscliff.
I really felt for the musicians who had to perform extended sets. In our carriage we had the lone musician so it was much harder for him being on his own. But he did a great job of keeping us entertained.
So it was a much later night than anticipated as we got back one hour later than normal. But it was a good fun time!
Make a weekend of it and stay somewhere local. Highly recommend for an indulgent weekend away.
We needed an extra ticket for the night so do make use of their ticket exchange platform if you need to buy or sell tix. We luckily got a call on the morning of the event and secured an extra ticket. The event was sold out otherwise.

What a truly unique and magical tour! Imagine jumping aboard a vintage steam train and being gently rocked through the spectacular scenes of Swan Bay, rolling greens of Suma Park and the Bellarine Rail Trail, all while listening to incredible acts of blues music! Move through four different carriages with three stops along the way for refreshments and amenities, allowing you to see four different stand-out performances! Not to mention a beautiful dinner at the station prior to departure. Grab your mates and book your tickets, this is a night not to be missed!🚂🕺💃🏼🎉

What a groovy night. Staff were genuinely happy and friendly on a reasonably fresh evening in late April.
The line-up was smooth as we paid extra to be boarded first. The food was great and plentiful; a help-yourself style set on the platform before all the music begun. They even offered seconds.
Toilet/smokers stops every 30mins.
If anything, there was a lengthy wait between finishing our food and taking off. This might have been down to everyone being fed, so nothing too bothersome. To counter that, it would have been good to have had some blues background music playing while we were waiting to move, just to get right into the vibe - maybe the train isn't equipped with a system. There was a warm energy in the carriage, so music would have been ideal before the live tunes kicked in.
Nevertheless, I highly recommend the experience, as I have to everyone I've told since. I would suggest to go outside of daylight savings to get the ambience of the lights against the darkness outside.
Great job, Blues Train. See you next year!

A night to remember..Take a group of good friends and go and book yourselves onto the Blues Train..It's the most fun, enjoyable, wonderful night of music, food and entertainment. From the food, to all the sweetest staff waving you goodbye at the station, to the excellent top class musicians who are just brilliant to the joyous atmosphere of all whom you inevitably end up getting to know and share the fun with, it's the best night out that I guarantee will leave a smile on your face for days.
They even cater for vegetarians or any other special dietary needs, and not just boring alternatives, but actually tasteful and delicious options that you'll enjoy.
I bought the Gold Class ticket for myself and my two friends whose birthday's it was.. They have decided it's their best present ever...and I think so too.

Do not book carriage B to begin with very very poor set up you get your meal and sit back in the carriage with a tray on your lap to eat it was very difficult in a little seat to eat and so squashy you can't hold your drinks and eat I unfortunately lost my meal it slipped of the tray onto the floor luckily I wasn't hungry
Every other carriage had tables to eat your meal at
*Food they where very scabby with the chicken and beef brisket.
But the music was fabulous all musicians where good you get to experience all 4 carriages
Which is great

Great venue for live blues music, 4 carriages, pulled by a steam train, each with a different band. You swap carriages at the different stops to see the next band. Great meal, great staff. If you are looking for an amazing and different music and dining experience, then you need to book into The Blues Train.

The Public should be aware that it is cash only, no tickets or advance purchase and there is no cashier, you sign in with photo ID and hand cash to the guide. That being said you should know you cannot walk around and explore on your own as it is supposed to very a working defence facility (did not see any defence personelle, only 1 civvie security guard and it was deadly quiet). Be aware that this "tour" is very hands off, lecture style, so quite boring for children. There is nothing for them to do but sit or stand and listen.
The very elderly contracted tour guide was struggling to engage her audience, struggling to get around with her walking stick and struggling with her hearing. She often went on tangents of personal anecdotes and didn't know how to captivate or enthrall an audience. It was like getting a lesson from an old 1950s school teacher. She was very out of touch with relating to the younger generations, bless her heart, she wasn't even nice, very bossy. It was extremely uninteresting and dull. We left 1.5 hours into it to avoid appearing rude, I should have run 5 minutes into it but they literally locked us in and we were strictly instructed not to leave and not to leave the group. This was the most boring experience of my life. The town is boring as bat* too so couldn't even redeem the 45 minute trip to make the whole thing worth it. We just packed up and drove home in disappointed silence.
Didn't learn much, the photos shared were tattered, uninteresting, out of focus, and pulled from her handbag. She did say other tour guides do tours in January when the defence contracts more guides due to tourist demand - maybe others do it professionally and with greater interest and other things to see/touch/experience? Honestly, we just strolled slowly beside old love and heard about old buildings without going inside or exploring anything in any depth. You've got to stay together as a group and vaguely walk around a small area. The tour wasn't on time and didn't start until 25 minutes past 11 instead of 11. There were two signs at the front gate with two different costs. One says children $8 and the other $10. Adults $20, a family $35. For a completely passive experience it should be free - you get nothing interactive or engaging for your money. Hopefully Tourism Vic acquires the facility and turns it into something viable and worth visiting. There is one male and one female toilet, (no baby change facilities) you may only access at the time the guide says. It was very strict - seemingly weird as not a soul was around to 'disrupt' or 'interfere with defence activities'. I cannot stress enough how dreary this was.

Very interesting place, our tour guide was both informative and funny telling us facts regarding the fort and some funny things that have taken place there. Please be advised there are NO public toilets available inside the fort, there are however toilets available just outside. Apart from this I would highly recommend this place for a visit.

The views were brilliant even on an overcast day. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. My four year old boy enjoyed seeing all the buildings and guns. A fun experience was watching a container ship make the turn out of the bay as it illustrated the use of the lighthouses. Highly recommended to spend some time here!

Really enjoyed the FortQueenscliffMuseum your. Well run and learnt a lot about the fort and the area.
The staff were great, very knowledgeable and friendly.
I think it's more geared to adults and learning about history. Not too sure if kids or teenagers would enjoy.

A perfect spot for lunch with family or friends that kids will also enjoy. The food is well priced and of an excellent standard. The wines are their own and while I only tried the Chardonnay I can highly recommend it. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. Seating options allow for both indoor and outdoor depending on your preference and no matter where you're seated there are beautiful scenic views of the farm and the bay with Queenscliff in the distance. If farm animals interest you then be sure to say hello to the alpacas in the paddock. Basil's farm was a great day out and we'll definitely come again next time we're in the Bellarine.

Lovely dining experience - good menu. I only tried the chardonnay but rated it quite highly as did my friends. A good selection of food we tried the squid, lamb, pasta, tiger prawns, ravioli, cured salmon and chat potatoes just to mention a few of the dishes. Everybody said they enjoyed their dishes. Staff were polite and car parking plentiful. Lovely gardens for those that enjoy a stroll. We attended on a sunny day and the view is terrific. Will be back.

What a beautiful place for lunch with fantastic friends.
The service was perfect. Our waitress was friendly & knowledgeable.
We had a tasting plate to share, yes we couldn’t fit it all in!! My only “complaint” (more a suggestion really), is that the salmon fritter was a bit dry, felt like it needed a sauce.
Our friend had the Sri Lankan Curry - she’s Sri Lankan & was immediately transported back there. Her partner had the beef ribs, he was very impressed.
The wander through the veggie & herb gardens was a wonderful end to our meal.
The view was just what we needed.
So relaxing.
Highly recommended.

Amazing place with great food and beautiful views of the water and farmland.
The staff were so lovely and going for a walk around the gardens after lunch was just a peaceful experience.
The wines they make are small batch and high quality and absolutely worth every cent.
We had the duck and the beef for lunch - both amazing meals, and I am sure everything on the menu would be fantastic!

Service excellent, staff are attentive and most accommodating, friendly and smiles all round. Beautiful location and surroundings, just wonderful. The meals were very tasty, but most expensive, my lamb was cooked to perfection I have to say. We had a very enjoyable and gastronomic time.
Thank you.

Delicious and sophisticated, on the sweet side. If you don't like your meal sweet, check the menu before going. The food is incredible, light and unusual. Desserts were scrumptious.
There aren't many choices on the menu. And there's a daily special.
The atmosphere is beautiful: live music, amazing view and the cottage is charming. Staff was lovely and helpful. We didn't wait much for the food.
Booking online is recommended: it was fully booked on a Sunday for lunch.

In my opinion, you will not find a better place to wine and dine on the Bellarine. Our recent experience at basils was beyond outstanding, every aspect from the food to the service to the ambience and stunning location and outlook.
While other establishments that have other wise been in our top five have dropped the ball, Basils continues to be at the top of their game.
It was my birthday, and someone mentioned that to one of the waiters, and they brought out a special happy birthday chocolate plaque with our desserts, it was so thoughtful!!
And this is why you need to book weeks in advance - we will be back!!

Basil has a unique and wonderful atmosphere, although these days, it doesn’t match the quality of the food. A year ago, we went to the farm, and my family and I had a great experience—excellent food and service. Recently, we came back, and it wasn’t the same. The food experience was definitely the worst part. Very pretentious plates with no flavor, just some attempt at good presentation—this, along with the actual cost of the meals, made the whole experience very poor. The pasta was overcooked, and the ingredients weren't fresh. The Maryland chicken was extra dry, just to name a couple of dishes. I think the whole experience at the farm has changed so much over the past year, and it's just a bummer because the location is such an epic spot, but the food doesn't reflect that. Unfortunately, I've removed this restaurant from my top places.

We had a great lunch at Basil's Farm. The food was delicious and the surroundings are beautiful. Nice place to go on a Winter Sunday. Highly recommend.

Good environment and a beautiful place to chill. Just that the lamb and duck that we ordered is dry (feels like it's pre-cooked beforehand and reheat again when someone orders). The cheese platter is amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The little farm is pretty, but I didn't expect most of the veggies and fruits is dying. Better get it trimmed.

We had a fantastic afternoon at Basil's Farm. Such a picturesque relaxing setting and a garden table was perfect on a beautiful weather day. Also really great outdoors if you have kids. They have a sandpit with toys to keep the little ones entertained. Tip..when booking ask for a table next to it so you can keep an eye on the kids while eating.
All our food was super tasty and delicious. Our group tried the mussels (amazing), satay chicken, squid and pork belly as well as multiple desserts...we could not fault a thing. Service was first class.

Pretty winery and lovely view. Food ok. Suggestion - get a floor mat outside your entrance door to the cafe/restaurant - not very pleasant seeing muddy shoe prints on the floor and in the bathrooms. It was raining that day.
Volunteer-run garden featuring an arboretum, lake, BBQ shelters, plant nursery & guided tours.
A nice place in Melton. A lot of diverse plants and bushes. The lake is beautiful. Some work still in progress. An area with Australian fruits can be a good addition which will produce food for birds and animals of this garden. Tracks are well maintained but there are garbages and dumps near the border with freeways which should be cleaned and better watched.
Kallol Sinha — Google review
Has potential, need management to manage and to make it beautiful, there is space ,and different kind of trees and flowers. But from very first view from entrance to the end, I had the very clear feeling when I saw it first, it looked deserted, and abandoned, may be work is still in progress, when I visit with my family for fun time or family time, it made me sad rather than refreshing . I don’t know if I will ever visit back there again.

Nice place to visit for fresh air and a day out. Wouldn't call it a botanic garden as such though, rather a nice park with nice lake, some interesting wildlife and good easy walk paths with good spots for rest and picnic/bbq.
Also great for Pokemon go players with lots of Pokemon gyms and pokestops!

The diversity of plants selection are well look after, but some projects still progressing in this garden. It is very good place for kids and families, where includes seating facilities and playgrounds. People are allowed to bring some grains to feeding ducks, swan and other birds near the pond.

A beautiful Botanical garden, amazing range of plants, flowers and trees with identification plaques, large water source, wonderful bird life and frogs too. Great walking tracks and generally a very tranquil place to visit. Compared to what it was before, life has been given to this space.

Didn't think there will be botanical garden tucked away in a residential area but there it was. Kids had a great time looking at the bird life and nature. Enjoyed the nature based play area. Plenty to explore and walk around.
Just a note to be careful not to run near the playarea as there is alot of sand and gravel as one of the kids fell.

I wish I could give 10 stars. This place is stunning, the volunteers have created a living work of art. It is beautiful, peaceful, diverse, mentally stimulating and inspiring in equal measure. It is my favourite place in Melton. Thank you to the volunteers who work so hard for all of Melton.
Nature area drawing daytrippers with hiking paths, climbing terrain, picnic spots & swimming holes.
Came here relatively early on a Sunday. Took the kids (5&6yo)
We ventured along the short circuit. The signs are easy enough to follow.
The area is absolutely beautiful and the terrain is easy. Some parts are up hill but nothing a picky bag or shoulder ride can’t fix for small legs.
I’d suggest starting anti clockwise, the entrance is through a gate just before the car park. However the bathrooms at the picnic car park are clockwise.
The bathrooms are long drops.
Definitely worth being snacks and enough hydration even on cooler days.
Sturdy footwear is required but sneakers will suffice.
Simi Batterham — Google review
Brilliant walk/trail. I suggest a certain level of fitness for the proper circuit walk however most people should be able to complete this walk. Bring plenty of hydration because it can be a 3.5 hour walk due to elevation etc, for the leisurely walkers. Can't speak for the short walk as we were too tired after the main circuit walk.
The rope climbing and minor rock face climbing was definitely fun! Can't recommend that enough!
Highly recommend! It's fun!

Absolutely wow! It was so beautiful, even saw a wallaby. As a beginner, the trail wasnt too difficult. I loved all of the spots (needle beach, western lookout, the old farm, etc). 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Absolutely breathtaking views! Went on a hike with my team at Werribee Gorge National Park and we were blown away by the stunning scenery. The picnic area halfway through was a perfect spot to recharge and enjoy some snacks. The 9km hike in 2.5 hrs was quite strenuous, but the experience was definitely worth it. Highly recommend for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a rewarding challenge amidst nature's beauty.
Ushan Lokuge — Google review
It is a really fun trail. The rock crossing with the rope area is legendary fun. For most avid hiker, you wouldn’t need to use the rope. If you are bringing your younger children along, just guide them across it. Tell them it’s fun and watch them conquer the rock!
The climb can be a bit intense at some section but it doesn’t go on for too far.
I did 2 consecutive laps of the Werribee Gorge Circuit , clockwise and anticlockwise. Wasn’t that tiring and really enjoyed it.
Have fun!
Evo Tan (EVO) — Google review
This is a beautiful place with a long circuit walk that would take anywhere from 3-5 hours depending how fast you’d like to finish. Average speed with frequent rest will take around 3.5 hrs.
Accessible by any vehicle type.
Close to town if you need supplies.
Toilet available.
No drinking water.
Space available for camping.
No fire allowed.
You need to take enough supplies of drinking water and snacks if you’re doing the long walk.
It’s is a challenging track especially if water level is high (around May to Sep) as some rock face climbing is needed.
I would say a 6-7 out of 10.
Reza Ghulami — Google review
Challenging circuit walk for the inexperienced hiker but it's doable, and invigorating when achieved.
Beautiful, picturesque bushland. We saw Bunjil the eagle gliding through the warm air currents. Also saw a red lorikeet, a wallaby, a platypus ducking under the water, and a small lizard.
Long drop for toilet at the start of quarry picnic ground.
Mary Tobin — Google review
Visited Werribee Gorge state park recently and the walking tracks surprised me. We went for the short circuit walk and a part of the long circuit walk. The views are breaking and so are locations. Make sure you have trail shoes with you as the tracks are very steep or slant with smooth to gravel tracks.
SagaR Roy — Google review
We did the Short Circuit walk, which took us about 90 minutes and 6.22 kms. The views were amazing, the walk was amazing (sometimes challenging with the hills). We saw some kangaroos, wallabies and a llama. We aren't fit or unfit, but at certain times it was a challenge for us. But it was a rewarding challenge to see the views, wildlife and how far we walked. Definitely need good hiking shoes, water and long clothing for summer and snakes. The small problem we had was that there was limited signage, we weren't always sure we were following the short circuit path. About halfway we thought we had taken a wrong turn but there were some stairs hidden by some trees. If you have some spare time, the weather is good and you are comfortable walking for 90+minutes and 60 degrees inclined hills then I would recommend Werribee Gorge State Park. There are other walks you can do, which are longer and incorporate some of the Short circuit path. There are drop toilets along the way, but go before you start walking. We didn't see any playgrounds, the conditions aren't easy so not suitable for kids. Where we parked there was one picnic table, but that was it. There may be others around that we didn't see.

Werribee Gorge circuit hike has to be my favourite day hikes from Melbourne. About an hour from the CBD. The track is well maintained, the circuit is (from memory) about 10km and it’s just a lot of fun! Not dog friendly and, be warned, a little bit of traversing rock! I’ve seen kids do it or even parents carrying kids across too. Just thinking it wouldn’t be possible for those with walking aids etc.
Alana Chrisomalidis — Google review
Beautiful hike - both a short and long circuit option. The hike says allow 4.5hours for the longer circuit, however we completed in around 2 hours and aren't experienced hikers. The entrance to the park doesn't have much signage, so google maps is key to finding your way.
Olivia Treg — Google review
This hike is an enchanting adventure that beckons the intrepid soul. As the sun casts its warm glow upon the rugged cliffs and meandering river, every step through the trail unveils a mesmerizing tapestry of lush greenery and towering rock formations. With each ascent, the air becomes crisp and invigorating, while the panoramic vistas reward the weary traveler with awe-inspiring views that stir the soul. The rhythmic symphony of birdsong and the gentle rustle of leaves serenade the hiker, providing a harmonious soundtrack to the tranquil serenity that envelops this hidden gem. Werribee Gorge is a haven where time slows down, allowing one to reconnect with nature's magnificence and find solace in the untamed wilderness.

My friends and I walked the short circuit here (~5km). I would say it’s an intermediate-level hike. It was a good challenge for us occasional hikers. Took us 2 hours to complete with a good amount of huffin’ n’ puffin’.
Lots of pretty views, including mountains, trees and rivers! Lots of beautiful insects too, like butterflies, pill bugs and gigantic ants! I was particularly surprised about the great phone reception up in the mountains!
We truly had such a wonderful time :-)

Nice easy hike with a section of about 50m with a cable to climb past the rocks. Highly recommend. 10km not difficult. Saw a few red kangaroos. Nice nature walk, disappointing that people leave their rubbish….. take it with you its not that hard! Some toilets there.

Amazing place for novice trekkers like me. Some large kangaroos up in the island reserve. The tiny beach is amazing. Water is sweet though its not fit for consumption without a filter.

Decided to give this place a try after hearing about it from a colleague.
Sufficient parking, sufficient signage.
We did the 10km trail that day. Took us 2 hours 20 min, with brief stops to take a break after the inclines and photos.
There are two sections that were midly challenging, where you need to scale the side of rocks. Cables are installed in places where absolutely required. If you're reasonably fit you shouldn't have a problem.
Gorgeous views, peaceful hike throughout.

While the park looks not well maintained we had good time walking the trail. The rocks, tree roots, dirt and fallen brunches gives the park different challenges. The air is fresh and I could smell the natural aroma. There are markers all around. Strawberry farms in Bacchus Marsh are only 15mins drive from the park.
Terefe Ejigu (Enjera) — Google review
As a beginner, I would say it wasn't that difficult trail. However, it was sure quite challenging for some people, especially with the additional 'rock climbing'. Nice scenery. Recommended to take the long circuit for more adventurous!
The Friends of Geelong Botanic Gardens is a non-profit organization that maintains a botanical garden full of diverse flora arranged according to climatic zones. It features a temperature-controlled room for tropical plants and provides educational programs regularly. While it does not offer much green space for picnics, there is plenty of outdoor space available with two car parks on the entrance side.

First visit to this botanical garden. It is a compact but full of variety of flora in this garden. Most of plants, flowers and shrubs cam be found here. However, as i m not a botanist, i may be wrong. Surely, it is dilligently arranged based by climatic zone. It also has temperature controlled room for tropical one. Tho, it has less green area to sit down and picnic inside the garden but outside, it has plenty room. 2 car parks on the side of enterance door.
Surely it is recommended for anyone including for relaxation and learning even just jogging.

Beautiful, well kept botanical gardens with lots of small paths and areas to sneak off to and see the beautiful birds and butterflies that are attracted to the area. I would advise picking up the map so you can check out the special plants that are there - I can't remember exactly, but there's a good number of heritage listed trees that are worth seeing just because you may find it hard to see them elsewhere! A giant redwood (Sequoia) is one of the areas, which is definitely worth seeing as well as a plant that looks like it's being chained to the ground - I don't remember what it's called but it looks impressive and I've definitely never seen one before!
A bonus is that entrance is free and there is a small outdoor cafe that I assume is open seasonally (?) - sadly it wasn't open when I was visiting. It also wasn't crowded when I visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. With its location so close to the waterfront, it's worth visiting if you're in the area to take a break or just to see the butterflies!

Eastern Beach Reserve is a historical recreational area dating back to the 1930s. It features an enclosed seawater pool, diving towers, and a promenade. The reserve offers ample parking space for visitors, and the giant wheel provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding areas. There are numerous restaurants near the beach, making it an ideal location for a day trip with plenty of food options. The family-friendly beach is not overly crowded with clean water and cool temperatures.
Great beach for the family. Not too crowded and lots of parking along the beach. The ferris wheel is good, friendly staff and operator, the ride was longer than expected. Not too hot inside the ride despite sunny weather. Good views from above. The beach was clean and water was cool. Overall a nice family beach.

From the top of Eastern Beach, one can appreciate the beauty of Geelong from a perspective that is both awe-inspiring and panoramic. The view from this vantage point is truly splendid.
What sets Eastern Beach apart is the tranquility it exudes. The surroundings are calm and cool, making it an oasis of serenity amidst the bustling city. Unlike some places, it is notably free from excessive noise.
It's also worth noting that the people who frequent Eastern Beach are genuine and friendly, which adds to the overall appeal of this wonderful destination. All in all, Eastern Beach is a hidden gem where one can experience the beauty of nature and the warmth of genuine human interactions.

Great summary of Australia's wool industry. Especially liked the kitchen space they created. It was like walking into your grandmothers kitchen and seeing all the pots, pans, stove, cutlery, storage containers and chairs all there right from the 50's. Has some other exhibitions are it which at the time we were there was a nature photo exhibition and a great light show.

A fun few hours of activities in here. There are interactive art exhibits for kids to play with on the top level for a limited time. The place itself is quite educational for those who wish to learn more about the history of wool industry in Victoria and its relationship with indigenous Australians. Takes around 1 to 1.5 hours in there.

Been here twice, have no idea that as a Deakin student, it’s free entry but if it’s from another campus it’s not. So when I came first time, I paid with a student rate. Then, when I came second time with friends, they paid and I didn’t not. Regardless, two times coming, two different experiences especially with diverse art exhibition projects they do on the first floor. I love history so definitely I will definitely say yes to coming back and having another visit!

Must visit! Apparently Geelong was one of the top producers of wool, this museum showcased the process of making the wool and history of Geelong wool. There is also a dedicated floor showcasing the best photography across the whole world. Particularly loved the 🌻 image. The entry is only $8 for adults and takes about an hour to see the whole museum’s. There’s also a cute little shop where you can the purchase some souvenirs too.

A well maintained museum which takes you through the history of Geelong’s wool making and weaving.
We were very happy to see it, and know about a piece of Australian history. We spent around 45min which is ok.
Note:
There are children play area where parents can leave their young ones (under own super vision of course). Lego blocks and a TV is there for them to enjoy.

Quite an interesting showcase of the wool industry in the state of Victoria.
Would be nice if they explain more on the different types of sheep.

If you’re in Geelong this is a gem to go and see. The museum takes you through the entire history of the CJ Dennys & Co Woolstore from its beginning, through to shearing machinery, living quarters, processing, and auctioning of the wool. The fit outs are so good that it feels like you are among the shearers. It’s a great family day out.

Visited this fascinating museum dedicated to the wool industry. They showcase old equipment and materials alongside insightful video documentaries. Currently, there's a stunning Wild Life Photography Exhibition on the top floor until May 2024. The staff is friendly, and they offer free entry for concessions; otherwise, it's $12. They also have cozy wool clothing in the souvenir shop!

Interesting museum where you can learn about the history and significance of wool to the country. The main museum is free, but it was also worth paying a few bucks to check the We The Makers exhibit that featured fantastic fashion pieces.

A great museum dedicated to the Australian wool industry from the sheep farmer to the textile worker.
Interesting insight to the now almost disappeared Australian textile industry.
Staff are friendly and welcoming s as is the entry price is quite reasonable.
Was privileged to be given an explanation of how the carpet making machine worked by Mick who then went on to give us a working demonstration.
We put aside a half an hour for our visit, spent two hours.

Fantastic museum to spend 2 to 3 hours depending on your interests.
I went specifically for the wildlife photography (which is every year) but also very much enjoyed learning about the historical wool industry.
The Australian National Surfing Museum in Torquay, Victoria is a renowned museum that showcases exhibits on the history of surfing and beach culture. It is considered to be the largest and most significant center for surfing heritage globally. The museum gives visitors a unique experience of surf culture that will stay with them for long. Among its highlights include the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame, which honors remarkable individuals who have made significant contributions to the sport.

The history of surf is nicely explained. You have a family ticket (2a 3c) at AUD25. The silver surfer or the board where you can try to surf are not there anymore. They could do the museum amore interactive for the children. V

Please do yourself a favour and if you're in the area pay the $25.00 family pass and take the kids through the amazing local history (and beyond) of the surfing revolution as it hit the shores of the Victorian Surf Coast. We thoroughly enjoyed it but beware of the souvenir shop all my loose change disappeared very quick, haha!

This is a well presented timeline of the surfing history. I enjoyed walking around. Respectful entry price and would recommend this museum to everyone any age. One small disappointment was to see the McCoy boards in a dark corner, not to be noticed.

One of the pitstops for the surfing 🌊 pilgrimage.
A very well done 👍 museum showcasing various surfboards as they evolved through the ages, detailing how shape and length have continuously innovated and modified. Museum 🖼️ also includes artworks, posters and anecdotes from local surfers, which definitely sheds light 🕯️ on why Australia has become a surf-crazy nation.
If you like surfing, expect to spend well more than an hour here.

Stopped in on a weekend away. I was really impressed with the items in the collection and didn't realise surfing was such an old craft. I learned a lot about the history of surfing, the evolution of the boards and the technology that goes into making a great board. We spent about 1.5 hours in the museum but there us a 90 minute feature film that shows in the theatre, so allow more time if you want to watch the whole thing.

Could have sat here for hours watching the footage - it really draws you in. Some really good content and itmes on display.

We loved it. It's a small museum but full of history. I really recommend going and spending a couple of hours watching all the surf boards, surf suites, etc reading the history behind each item.
Fairy Park is a charming amusement park with whimsical and fairytale-themed attractions, including animatronic scenes and model trains. The park provides an excellent experience for children under the age of three who can enjoy pushing buttons, watching animated scenes, and listening to stories. Additionally, the playground at the bottom of the hill is fantastic and can keep kids entertained for hours. The admission fee of $22 for adults offers value for money as kids under three get in free.
My 2.5yr old had a ball! She loved to push the buttons, watch the animated scenes and listen to the stories. Playground at the bottom is awesome and kids could easily spend hours there.
Couple of thoughts.
Definitely value for money at $22 an adult and kids under 3 free.
Probably 1.5hrs watching the scenes and climbing to the top, more time at the playground.
Food options are good, $10 fish and chips was yum and value.
Go at 10am, super quiet then but by 11 it was packed.
Only one place to go to the toilet, at the bottom of the hill, so keep that in mind as you take your kids up to the top.
All in all a great day had
Luke Williams — Google review
We took our 7 year old granddaughter and she really enjoyed the Fairy Park. The displays are traditional and a bit old school but well maintained, as is the whole park. $26 per adult $14 for children over 2 years old. No family passes make it expensive if you have a couple of children.
Highly recommend taking your own food. The options available aren’t overly expensive but no fresh health options, only greasy nuggets and frozen chips, rubbery calamari, wedges etc.
It doesn’t take too long to make your way around the entire park but there’s no shade so plan accordingly on a hot day.
Heaps of parking and ice creams to end the day and a great playground.
Tracey Turner-Mann — Google review
I went here when I was in primary school and I am now nearly 40. The main thing I remembered about this place was a wall with holes in it and that was the first thing I saw when entering the playground.
This is a fantastic theme park that takes you back to the 80s. Some health & safety things do need to be updated but I think that is what makes it fun. One thing though is if your child is under 3 make sure you take a pram with you cos there are some really steep hills in the park.
Can't wait to take my son again once he is a little older. Thanks for the memories.

What a cute place! My boys had a blast and loved pushing the buttons and listen to the stories. And at the Cafe we ordered Chicken Schnitzels and fries which surprisingly was great. I absolutely recommend this place if you have kids.
-Lots of parking space.
-The view from the top was beautiful.
-This place is in the middle of nowhere and road to it is a bit rough but is worth going there at least once.

What a fun place to visit with the family! Our 6 year old loved every bit of it, and so did we. There are many picnic tables for you to enjoy a meal or snack at, if you want to carry your own food. We hope to visit again soon.

A really wonderful, unique experience especially for young children and adults alike who love the classic stories like Snowhite, Jack and the beanstalk, Goldilocks, The three little pigs etc.. There are lots of things to see and take photos with. The view up the top is amazing! It really feels like you are in a Fairytale😁 But they only open on school holidays. I wish they were open even just once a week or weekends😀 and also you can only purchase tickets on site and not online.. If you go in the afternoon, the foodshop is not available..

Great fun for my 3 year old daughter!! We came quite late around 3 pm so there weren't that many people. I think you can spend at least a good one hour if you press all the buttons and listen to the stories. At the end there is also an outdoor playground!! Be mindful that most of the exhibits are outdoor so check weather beforehand.
Edwar Kartio — Google review
A great concept set amongst beautiful countryside. My 3yo was initially a bit freaked out but soon was fascinated by the different fairy tale displays. The layout of the park is also fun to navigate, however it goes steeply uphill and the paths are narrow so you wouldn't want to have a big bulky pram. In our opinion, at $66 for 2 adults and a 3yo (baby was free) it was too expensive. Everything could do with an update (especially the playground, safety-wise) although the displays do have a vintage charm. The playground area I imagine would be fantastic for older primary aged children, not suitable for younger kids. We spent almost 2 hours there.
Lesa Groves — Google review
It was surely an amazing place to visit with kids. 3hours are enough to explore the entire park. The views are eye-catching and the puppets are fantastic. Only thing that I didn't like is the stories are not recited completely. Rest no issues 👍👏

Amazing visit! Took my 2 Grandchildren. As the park was established in the 1950's era, the attractions are in amazing condition and the park is very well cared for. One point though, if you are not a huge walker or like your walkways to have an incline, might not be somewhere that you would list as a favourite. Overall experience 5 out of 5. Simply magical!

We couldn’t book tickets online, as they don’t have that option as of 2023. We paid at the entry and it was quick & smooth. Kids loved the place. There was also a big playground with many options and kids enjoyed it. We can easily spend half-a-day to one day here. The views from the top were beautiful. It will be great if they renovate the place as the place looked a bit old. Thanks.

It's a shame you are not allowed to BBQ anymore, or even picnic 😯 so we had to take our lunch home to eat.

And late fees you are charged if you leave past 4:30 😬 $100 😵💫 see attached photo

I contacted ahead & my 2 dogs and I were warmly welcomed by Rufus & his humans. I wanted to source local wines & produce, as Christmas gifts and was well rewarded. Preservative free jams, chutneys & relishes, fresh water & balsamic soaked olives & wines sold by the vigneron and his family. The aspect of the Cellar Door is as luscious as the 2017 & 2019 vintage wines ranging from a definitive cold climate Sauvignon Blanc to straight Shiraz or Shiraz blends. Buy 1 dozen, get 1 bottle free - perfect for Christmas giving.

Local to us and we are embarrassed that we drive past twice a day. All that changed today with a stunning flight of wine tasting. Every wine is a winner for a different reason and we couldn't leave without a mixed box of Oscar and Sophia. We'll be back soon with some friends and family for a feed too. Lovely people, amazing setting and a great regional secret. Thank you for the great afternoon.

If they conduct business as horrible as the guy driving the Ute that has their company's logo on it, then I suggest going to another place. The man has absolutely no awareness while driving and nearly hit me while I was walking on the PEDESTRIAN crossing at Woolworths Geelong West, and kept on driving. Disgusting and not a good look for the business.

We had a relaxing birthday celebration here. The setting was beautiful, the roses made a lovely backdrop for photos. The wine tasting was spread out over the afternoon along with the food which resulted in us staggering out carrying our favourite wines. The Cab Franc was a favourite with us all. The small children spent the afternoon running and playing in between platters of food. A bit of a drive but well worth the trip. Be prepared not to rush, sit back, relax and enjoy the wine and scenery.

Wine tasting is a really unique experience here. Family winery with names of children and Granny ❤️ that.
Winery with a clean conscience and no preservatives. And you can feel the taste difference. Reminded me of Swan valley Boutique wine experience.
Loved it and is going to be the first of many trips ahead.

Great wine set amongst the most beautiful scenery, topped off with a genuine and kind host (and dog). I visited here with a group of girls last Saturday and loved it. Tim has a great knack for making wine and sharing his love for the whole process, evidenced by him naming the wines after his children. If you love a homely, genuine vibe in a setting where the owner helps you to connect with the land's history and unique wine varieties - give this place a go. The quality of the wine is top notch, isn't mass produced and is affordably priced!
The Saint George River drains into the Bass Strait underneath this clifftop viewpoint.

Teddy’s Lookout in Victoria, along the Great Ocean Road, is indeed a beautiful spot to pause and admire the breathtaking water views. The vista overlooking the ocean is truly magnificent, offering a tranquil respite amidst the natural beauty of the region.
While the view is undeniably stunning, it may not hold the same level of uniqueness or novelty as some other landmarks along the Great Ocean Road. Nevertheless, it’s definitely worth stopping for a few minutes to soak in the scenery and capture some memorable photos before continuing your journey.
Overall, Teddy’s Lookout is a worthwhile stop for anyone traveling along the Great Ocean Road, providing a scenic backdrop that perfectly encapsulates the allure of this iconic coastal route.

Just refreshing sights, if you are lucky to have a clear sky, this place will make you smile for sure. Photos don’t do justice to what awaits your eyes. Nice pit stop in Lorne, if you are doing Great ocean drive from Melbourne side. Few minutes walk from car park. Visited on a weekend and had nominal crowd. Kids friendly, mostly flat walkways. Ample parking spots. Roofed area, just incase if it rains. Sign boarding with info. Must visit, if you are in Lorne.
Sandy stretch popular for surfing, home to a restaurant pavilion & wellness center.
Lorne has a nice long beach, a couple of toilet blocks and outside showers to rinse. Plenty of parking but can get super busy on hot weekends and holidays.
Fairly reliable surf and safe swimming near the life saving club when the flags are out. You can walk along the coast up to the pier via either the beach or walking track. About 1km.

Erskine Falls, located in the heart of Lorne, is a well-known 30-meter waterfall surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. Visitors can enjoy scenic views from two lookout points, with the option to descend 222 steps for a closer look at the cascading water from the lower Erskine Falls lookout. The falls offer an idyllic escape with tranquil atmosphere and opportunities for both relaxation and adventurous hikes amidst stunning scenery.
A definite visit if in the area!
Erskine Falls has two viewing platforms (a high and low), a river trail and open to get up close to the falls.
The lower viewing platform is via a 220m steep decent, so be prepared for the walk back up.
The upper viewing platform is an easy 80m flatish walk.
🚗 Small car park and there is no parking restrictions on the road shoulder on the way in.
Local guide tips:
-Come in the afternoon to avoid crowds and easier to get a park.
-Wear water shoes if you have them.

Recently visited Erskine Falls and was mesmerized by its beauty and tranquility. The falls cascade down a steep cliff in three tiers, with a deep pool of water at the bottom. The viewing platform at the top of the falls provides an incredible view of the falls and the lush greenery of the Otway National Park. The walk down to the bottom of the falls is easy, and the pool of water is perfect for swimming and relaxing. The area around the falls is full of wildlife. The falls are also a great spot for photography, with its unique vantage point and the stunning scenery. I highly recommend visiting Erskine Falls if you're ever in the area. It's a truly spectacular sight and a great way to spend an afternoon and make sure to wear appropriate shoes.

As you descend down the winding road towards the car park, the fresh air and rich oxygen fills your lungs. It only gets better when you walk the remainder of the way down to the bottom of the waterfall via the descending steps. Also the natural stone steps are a good upgrade over the previous wooden ones which were rotting away into the mud and causing a slippery slope.
ahmet turkmen — Google review
The hike is around 24km and is a good mix of track and river crossings. Will need to have correct clothing and footwear as you will need to duck, possibly crawl under some trees as well as walk long fallen trees used as a way of crossing some sections not to mention slippery rocks. Great hike and plenty of spots to take photos. If the hiking track isn't your thing you can always park at the Erskine Falls car park and walk 5 minutes down to the viewing platform.

For those who say The Great Ocean Road is only about a drive along the beautiful ocean, please visit this Erskine Falls..
Lovely location.. 👌
Beautiful drive.. easy and more than enough free parking spaces available..
Only 220m walking trail downhill to reach the hidden spot.. definitely worth a visit.. coming back up is pretty challenging despite the short distance..
Those who need assistance, the upper lookout point which is hardly 80m downhill is also not bad..
Don't miss this serene beauty..

My faves of the waterfalls/river walks in the area... beautiful and the river walk looks amazing! We only the first 10 mins... the full walk is a grade 4, 3 hour one way hike, so decided we'd come back for it, but if you love to explore, this is one for you... it's not an easy track, but has multiple river crossings and a fun track with rocks and tree roots to clamber over.
Pack good hiking shoes and water if doing the walk!

Get ready to climb approx 244 steps after viewing the magnificent view of Erskine falls. It's fun to go close to the waterfall but you have to be very careful. Very slippery surface. Make sure you don't fall down. Rare mobile reception so enjoys the beauty of nature. Spend at least an hour and relax

The falls is in Lorne. On the way to Great Ocean Road. The waterfalls was quite scenic and there are 2 view points one from the top and the other from the bottom . There is no entry fees and all public facilities are available here. There were steps for the view point and the steps were slippery

Beautiful!! We went on a bit of a rainy day during a weekday so it was a bit quieter, absolute feeling of peace and serenity and you could hear the rain, waterfall and birds. The lower lookout was closed due to stairs being unsafe, but the upper still provided a wonderful view.

Erskine Falls, though not the largest waterfall, offers a stunning natural setting that's absolutely worth a visit. Parking your car and taking an easy 5-minute walk will lead you to the upper viewing platform. For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, you can venture further down to the lower platform. Be prepared for damp conditions, so wearing sneakers is advisable. The parking lot here is relatively small, so finding a spot during peak seasons can be a challenge.

Beautiful waterfall visited by many. Fairly steep descent down a flight of steps to reach the viewing platform. From the viewing platform, most people will step across a series of rocks over the water to get right to the base of the waterfall for a close-up view. The climb back up the steps to the carpark can be challenge.

Erskine Falls is one of many waterfalls I visited in Victoria.
A short diversion from the Great Ocean Road and around 15 minutes from Lorne. Parking close to the 30metre cascade, or have fun as part of a long walk via lush rainforest.
The lookout point has scenic views and it is recommended to visit with your family.
Easy to walk in but was crowded when we went there.
Abe Ayoubi — Google review
Amazing falls with steps down to two look outs, higher lookout about 40 steps down and lower lookout about 230 steps down. Steepish descent down to Car park with plenty of spaces. There's a warning that coaches shouldn't go down. Can climb over some rocks to cross over shallows to get to the waterfalls. Absolutely worth it!

Warned about the bus loads of people at busy times, we headed to the falls at 5:30pm and had the place to ourselves. There are some steps down to the top platform, but the best views come from the lower viewing area, just you have to climb the 100s of steps back up. There are a few benches to rest weary feet.

This is located in Great Otway National Park and you can visit on your way to Port Campbell. We visited here on our way to 12 Apostles. The waterfall is beautiful and it's very short walk to see the fall. The pathway that leads near to the fall is closed. But you can see the beauty of the fall from far away after a very short walk. Don't miss this waterfall and add to your list to Great Ocean Road road trip.
Ravindi Kavmini — Google review
The lookout is just a 2 minute walk down a few flights of steps, good for a quick stop to admire the sight and sound of the waterfall. The trip to the waterfall itself would be a 4km hike and good if you wanted to spend a longer time there

220m down from carpark to ground level falls. A fairly easy walk for families and most abilities.
Haven't visited here for a while, and it's just as beautiful as I remembered. Highly recommend if you are in the area, make the trip up there. Loved it.

This probably is one of the best spots to visit when doing a trip to the great Ocean road. The place is breathtakingly beautiful, calm and stunning !! It is a bit of a hike but the path is easy with stairs all the way pretty much. Don't miss this place on your next trip to great Ocean road if you haven't been here.

Erskine Falls in Lorne is a stunning waterfall, nestled in lush greenery. It's accessible via a well-maintained track, though the descent can be a bit steep with a lot of steps, so be prepared for a bit of a workout on the way back up. The waterfall itself is beautiful, especially after rainfall, and there's a viewing platform for a great view. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers. Overall, it's a peaceful and scenic spot worth visiting if you're in the Lorne area.

A great fairly easy way to see a tree fern lined gorge and beautiful water fall.
There are well maintained level steps down to the base of the falls with seats to catch your breath making it accessible for most people.
Thoroughly recommend

Beautiful hike. Careful on the one headed to Lorne. Slippery rocks when crossing the river and definite need for solid hiking boots with good grip. Arrive early for a more empty track. Was very busy when we left at midday with the carpark bursting a fair way up the road.

Erskine falls are one of the best waterfalls in Victoria. The falls are easily accessible and there is sufficient parking available. The first view point is not far away from the parking but the view isn't great. The next one is about 150m down and it is worth going there. It might be a bit hard to come back up for people requiring assistance. There is railing and a few benches on the steps.
Raj M — Google review
The waterfall didn't have much water flowing, but the atmosphere was still serene and calming. The steps leading to the base of the falls were a bit of a trek, but worth it for the beautiful surroundings. However, beyond the initial sight, it seemed less maintained. Overall, it was a good experience.
Kinkini Gamage — Google review
Beautiful place, super easy parking and easy walk down/ up. It has two look out points one where you don’t need to walk down any steps. You can walk up close to the waterfall and even walk down the opposite way and just explore down stream. Definitely a place worth going to!
Sophie Lee — Google review
Nice place for tourists. You can play in water too. Visit in comfortable clothes and importantly in comfortable footwear as steps are bit steep and slippery. And if you want to go just below the fall then you will need good shoes with grip.

Mesmerising place and I loved it. I would say a must to do place for tourist if you are in Melbourne.. Loved each and every spots.. I covered 12 apostles in helicopter - wonderful ride, you should choose the front row.. to get the maximum wonderful view. I took tour bus with small group since that is economical and I am a single traveller, if not taking a car is good option. When you start from Melbourne you should take the left side seat of the bus to see the scenic ocean view in travel or of you are more of a mountain person, take seat on right side. But I would say Melbourne to 12 apostles take left seat and return take right side seat.

This is a 100km plus multi day walk, which you can do in stages, as there are pick up points with road access along the way. Fantastic beaches and wild rugged coastline, plus beautiful tall eucalyptus forests. You can do it all yourself or get one of the many tourist operators to assist with transport, food and accommodation.

Absolutely incredible walk. We did four days worth and every day was different. The camp sites has drop toilets and are well spaced. Parts of the walk can be very steep, and there is a decent amount of sand walking to be aware of. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to see the hidden places you would normally miss.

A great walk for experienced hikers, it's not too challenging if you plan carefully and avoid the river crossings when the tide is high.
Probably not for new hikers as you do need to carry 8 days of food which can be heavy, but it's unique for hike of this length in that you are never too far from a bailout point if something goes wrong.

Marriner's Lookout is a must-visit spot along the Great Ocean Road, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Apollo Bay, the hinterland, and the ocean. It's a short ten-minute walk from the car park to reach this hilltop viewpoint. The lookout was generously donated by a private family for all to enjoy. The hike up is surrounded by beautiful trees and lush greenery, making it an enjoyable experience.

Thanks to their contribution so we all can enjoy such a nice hike and beautiful view. 10 mins hike from the parking area you can enjoy the breathtaking view of Apollo city and the whole costal area leading to Lorne. Enjoy so much of the view and the wind… the walk up greeted by beautiful grown trees and lush of green. Came here in winter time and believe spring time would be even beautiful as flower would be blossoming I think..!

We enjoyed this short, easy walk - about 10 mins along a clear path in good condition - to the top of the hill which overlooks Apollo Bay. There is no viewing platform. The path ends as a grassed area is reached. From this grassy patch, there are panoramic views across the bay and beyond.

For anyone passing through the Great Ocean Road, don't miss Marriner's Lookout! It's the highest point in Apollo Bay, offering panoramic views of the entire town, the Great Ocean Road, and the coastline beyond. There's free parking, but spaces are limited. Great place for beers, ciders and pizzas. Need I say more? The wood fired pizzas are made with lots of love, the owner is friendly and talked about the Italian wood fired oven in detail. This is a short, easy, stunning walk in the cool temperate rainforest of the Otway Ranges. The paths and walkways are well maintained and the signage is interesting and informative. Of particular significance are the hollow tree and the Mountain Ash. We were lucky to spot a Yellow Robin. It was a tranquil and peaceful stroll. As we returned to the car park, a very noisy group, talking at the top of their voices, were starting the loop. We were thankful to be leaving!

Visited in the morning at 11am. It was perfect and there are printed fun facts at multiple spots that provide interesting facts of certain plants and trees.
The walk wasn’t particularly difficult but may be a challenge for those with kids and elderly. The ground can be slippery at certain times when wet. And if it rains there is not much shelter so do check the weather before you go.

After a whole day in the sun, walking around great ocean road lookouts, I never thought I had the energy to take a walk. About half way between Melbourne and 12 Apostles, this is a perfect stop to stretch your legs and have a wonderful hike in nature. Free to access, there are quite enough parking spots. The hike is a little under one kilometre and does not require any special gear, basically a walk in the park. Huge trees all around and lots of typical Australian vegetation. Didn't see much wildlife except some birds but the watch for meat eating snails not to step on.
If you take The Great Ocean Road don't miss this stop.

Such a beautiful, serene and atmospheric nature trail! I loved listening to the sounds of the birds and the creek as I walked through the moody trees!
Though we visited on a warm day, the temperature was quite cool here due to the shadiness of the trees and evapotranspiration.
Suitable for beginners. The trail is mostly flat with a few slopes. It took us 15-20 minutes to complete it at a leisurely pace (not a long trail at all).
Ample parking available.

Come for the trees but do not expect good customer service. The establishment does a good job at demonstrating how customer service should not be done.
Not friendly nor helpful in making sure that you will want to visit again. The negative google reviews and the establishment's response are reflection of that. They simply do not care.
The experience was memorable for sure, but not in a pleasant way because of the service. Considering how far it is to travel to get there and for the price, you'd expect decent friendliness or hospitality.

The tree top was realy great, the long walk to get to the start and return was a bit much for old people. There were lots of seats along the way to rest, which was a saving grace. Well worth a visit.

Amazing treetop walk, the walk took about an hour and a half with stops to read the information signs and also climb the tower for great views of the rainforest canopy. This is a great place to visit with the family, it's a pretty easy walk for younger kids or older members of the family. Bring a drink! The climb to the top of the tower can be challenging if you're not used to stairs so be prepared. The view is definitely worth it though. I would not recommend the climb if you are scared of heights! The tower does swat in the breeze and can be very unsettling if heights are a problem for you. If you are good with heights then I would recommend the cantilever, this little gem was not advertised but my kids loved it!
Sean Jacobs — Google review
If you are afraid of heights you won't like the treetop walk as it is very high and moves in the wind some. Nearly all the park is pram accessible though there are steep parts. You can hit the highlights in about 1-1.5hrs though 2 hrs would probably be better so you can take breaks if you need. Note the car park is 300m from the entrance so make sure you have everything before you leave your car and you calculate that in your visit time. There is no cell service in the area, but they do offer free Wifi at the entrance. Make sure you know opening hours too as they are closed part of the week. It's a nice park but not a must see unless you really want to be high in the trees. There are multiple trails nearby that give you that same rainforest feel for free (minus the treetop experience). The tower near the back of the park is very high up. Overall price is fairly low so we enjoyed it.
Greg Travassos — Google review
An awesome nature walk with a really fantastic view of the forest. The walkway provides such a unique sight of the forest that I haven't seen elsewhere. Although the soft swaying of the walkway and tower on a windy day can certainly make anyone nervous of height a bit angsty. The cantilever is especially daunting due to the more pronounced swaying.
Overall a fantastic spot for a day trip. Would highly recommend.

Second time coming here and it just keeps getting better. The first time coming here I was more interested about walking within the trees. But this time, reading the mini information boards along the walk I ended up learning so much. It's definitely a great place to come, but I would highly suggest coming when it first opens, because it gets busy really fast. Lastly, wear runners.

You can truly grasp the sheer size of the surrounding nature and how big and tall the trees really are when you go close to the top.
Make sure you book your tickets online in advance.
Also the entrance is a 300-meters walk from the car park so don't forget to bring all the necessary items.

I got my tickets on a 40% off sale with a different site so that made the trip well worth it (myself and 2 kids). Quite a lot of walking involved, from the Carpark to the visitor centre and then getting to the tree top walk, the enchanted forest was an excellent addition for the kids. My 6 year old loved the activity book and had fun finding all the letters in the forest to unscramble the word and get a little prize.
The tree top walk itself is also nice. I wouldn’t say it’s anything spectacular if you’re a regular hiker, it’s just a nice different experience and family friendly, still worth going. And if you’re not a regular hiker then it’s definitely worth going. At the price I got the tickets for though I am more than happy with the experience and it was a nice little adventure for the kids.
There’s also plenty of signage letting you know how far you still have to go to the tower or back to the visitor centre which is great if you have little ones that are running low on energy.
Overall, a nice experience and family friendly.

This turned out to be much more than expected. Went only for Treetop walk. Thought it will be small walk but gladly the treetop walk had good length and the tower made it even better. Pretty safe for kids and Pram can go easily. Great views from the top. Also a big shout out to lovely bloke in their team who gave us a Buggy ride back to the centre as we were the last to leave the spot and had kids with us.

Walked in on a weekday afternoon and one from our group jumped on the zipline tour. Expensive but a unique experience. Walk through the forest is impressive. It is a fair loop ...probably 4-5kms and the walk back is uphill. Cafe and food facilities at entrance...coffee wasn't great. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful - especially the guys running the zip line.

We were greeted by Craig and he made sure we have a perfect and lasting experience
We did the three walk and the zip line and we will totally recommend this for you and your family

Large cafe facilities available, but not enough staff to operate it.
Grab and go food options were a disappointment too only one vegan option; of old over coked falafels, swimming in a pool of hummus and a tiny bit of rocket.
My wife and kids had chicken sandwiches and wrap and no one was able to finish it. They were also disappointed.
There was plants of tables and chairs available and bins too, but no signs on bins so general waste and recycling was all mixed together.
I wish I could have left a better review, I was hoping for a better experience.

I will definitely recommend this place. The air is so fresh to breathe, the greenery, the raindrops and the birds chirping its just a place like heaven; very mesmerising for the soul. If you are a nature lover this is a place for you.
The reception staff Gauranga was very welcoming and friendly who offered us the buggy drop off and pick up for the nature walk(it was raining the whole time). Clare was very rude and unprofessional throughout my experience
thats the only reason I would give 4 stars for this place. She was least interested in her job and treated us like she was doing us a favour by being at the desk. (She didn’t send the buggy while we called on the number and she was very rude while assisting us during the tree surfing trial and was not happy with Gauranga assisting 4 people on the buggy even when it was safe to do so)
I tried the tea surfing and would really appreciate the patience and guidance from Libby. She was so helpful 🥰
Tree surfing was good and the whole experience was well supported.
The cafe here was less than average I would say. It’s worth watching the view outside the window at the cafe on the premise(could see heaps of different birds and flora and fauna)
Food is below average:-I got the sweet chilli wrap which was too salty, the fruit salad was good, chai latte was nothing out of the ordinary.
Highly recommend the walk .You would love the freshness in the air and nature at its best 🥰

Good place for a scenic walk and to look at some really tall trees. Being that high up is a treat! @$27 per person for the tree top walk, it's a bit pricy, but good for a one time experience

Clifftop 1800s beacon, now solar-powered, with restored heritage buildings & a viewing platform.
This is an amazing place to visit!
We spent well over 2 hours walking around, exploring and learning about the history of the site. More than just a lighthouse with different buildings and displays to look at. You can climb to the top of the Lighthouse without having to book a time slot and the views are magnificent.
Had a nice coffee outside the café overlooking the Lighthouse, it was a really beautiful spot!
The staff were friendly, very Covid safe and knew a lot about the history and the area.
It was well worth the entry fee - we will definitely come back again with the family.

Entrance fee is AUD$20 per adult and we spent about 90min wandering around the site learning about its history.
The place is well maintained and there are timed guided tours as well if one is interested. They also provide complimentary sunblock at the entrance.
The highlight was climbing the lighthouse which gave us a beautiful view of the coast.
There’s a nice cafe that sells a variety of baked goods. We had the scone with clotted cream and jam and it was fabulous!

This place is beautiful. Of course the views are great, but the grounds are also nice.
It's a little bit pricey to enter, and a bit of a drive to get there, but I think it's worth it, especially if you are travelling and are curious about the history, wanting to see a great view and some animals too!
Lots of history here, from WW2, and the history of the lighthouse and it's inhabitants.
If you're lucky, you'll see some whales.
The cafe is nice also, and those scones, cream and jam are just delicious.
Saw a koala on the way in and a wallaby with a joey, which was very cute.

A fantastic tourist attraction along the Great Ocean Road, I spent a couple of hours here exploring the interesting history and the absolutely stunning scenery. Well worth the entry price and there is a lovely small cafe on site for a coffee and a bite to eat. There are several walking paths near to the entrance if you want to explore further.

I actually really enjoyed my visit and it was worth the money to go in. Some amazing views from the lighthouse and we were lucky enough to see whales.
Some really lovely staff inside the park.
I’m marking down a few stars though for the girl that worked at the front desk, her attitude was really stinking, I would suggest she is not well suited to working in a tourist facing job with that horrible attitude. Maybe she was having a bad day but was a sour note at the start of an otherwise very enjoyable visit

Excellent location to spend a few hours. It is a well managed and clean location with staff at appropriate location. The artefacts have kept well for few generations. This is one lighthouse you are able to climb to the operational room. The views from the lighthouse are pretty good. There is a price to enter the location, so be aware before you make the trip.

Great. Allow over an hour to see this. The 20 minute talk was very informative - many thanks to the Cape Otways guides. The lighthouse was great. And the coffee and scones were to die for. I would recommend this place. Also this is an excellent place to spot koalas on the way in and out. The entry fee was more than reasonable. I think I am still full from the scones.

An enjoyable few hours walking around the historic sight. A climb up the lighthouse is well worth the effort. The historic talk was very informative if you're unfamiliar with the history of the area.

Second time going here. Came with a friend that had not been before. There is an entry fee to get in, $20 for an adult ticket. Bring a rain coat and warm jacket, can be cold and windy obviously being right on the coast. Beautiful view from top of lighthouse with friendly knowledgeable guide. You can explore the grounds too but at the time we went (July 2023) some parts of the grounds was closed. You can go into the old homestead and have a look around. There is also accommodation here, would be a nice spot to stay in the winter!

A must see along the Great Ocean Road! We stopped by today and visited the whole site. They did a fantastic Job, preserving everything. The lighthouse is very interesting, but so is the Telegraph station. For the immigrants, it was the first bit of Australia that they saw, and it was also the point on the mainland, Connecting to Tasmania! I was fascinated by the old technology and the condition they were in. Very educative!

Beautiful place with great views and a very old lighthouse! The lighthouse was really cute! You can go up to take a look but beware of the super strong winds. There is an entrance fee for this attraction and you should expect to spend about 1-3 hours here. A cafe is available inside too. It was raining a little when we were there.
Celestine — Google review
Small drive off the main road on a narrow road where people love to stop and stand in the middle to see koalas in trees! Lighthouse itself is closed after the earthquake and entrance fee was reduced because of this. Entry should be cheaper if you are 'self guiding'. Perhaps charge a premium for guided tours and lighthouse climb? Lots of history to read. Service at the cafe was good and food was fresh. Carpark is tiny, we were there on a weekday and it was fairly quiet...there was already a few vans there - would be a nightmare in busy times. If you are there for the views, there are plenty just as good along the Great Ocean Road...and they are free.
Matt Brennan — Google review
This is a great slice of the early history of the Shipwreck Coast. The lighthouse is an amazing building, considering it was erected nearly 175 years ago. The site buildings, of which there many, are all in great condition and add to the overall story of the site. At the end of the visit I found that I didn't even begrudge the $20 entry fee, which I had initially thought was a bit steep.
Bruce Hamilton — Google review
Interesting drive in, and lots of history here. Allow at least an hour, more if you want to sample the delicious scones at the cafe. If all you want is the picture, you’ll need to consider whether the entrance price is worth it.

We went went for this and honestly you should time your visit when there is a historical tour talk which is at about 11 am, 2 pm and 4 pm. We visited on 8 Aug 2023 and there was a fantastic guide doing the 11 am tour and he gave a really in-depth history of the nautical routes that gave rise to Cape Otway and how it helped Australia flourish to what it is today. We forgot the name of the guide but he was great! Wanted to post here to give a shout out to him. Without the context, it’s still a nice sight at the lighthouse
Alex Ng — Google review
Only went to the lighthouse with the $19.5 entry ticket. Worth-going as the lighthouse is renewed and opened for visitors to enter, able to enjoy the view from the top of the house. Guidelines of visiting are provided in both the ticket office and lighthouse. Environments are great, everything is comfortable. Might visit again and have a overnight stay.
Julia Lam — Google review
Historic place to visit. It is a bit pricey though to go and see a lighthouse! If I knew it was a paid entry, we probably wouldn’t have bothered.
The car park is a nightmare! Toilets available. A cafe sits next to the lighthouse where you can stop for lunch. Picnic area is nice.
The light station houses have nicely displayed information to see as you walk through. Overall, a good stop in just a bit expensive in my opinion.
Jess Cain — Google review
There are so many things to say about this place.
- We paid $25 for a family trip and spent less than 10 minutes there. The lighthouse was closer and so was as the area surrounding it so all we paid to see the ocean which we’ve been seeing for the past hour or so.
- There was nothing to see.
- There was nothing to do.
I think you can see what we are getting at. Also, note that there were so many flies that we had to run back to the car.
The only interesting thing were the information boards and decent view of the ocean but even then I think it’s because of the time we got there and the sky looked pretty.
Overall, it would’ve been nice if there was something to see other than the sign which told us to stop and leave as there was a mercury spill.
Demonnix — Google review
Well worth the curvy, narrow drive at times from Warrnambool ( about 90+ min). Paid admission only to enter the grounds - currently discounted from $20 to $10 ( Feb 2024) due to closure of entering the lighthouse. Lovely grounds to walk on. Impressive lighthouse and the view. Great food at the cafe too.
grant johnson — Google review
A lovely walk around this area. It is a fully paid, enclosed area so expect that when you arrive. You currently can't climb the lighthouse due to what we were told was a mercury spillage so a discount to the park was offered to compensate. A very interesting time was had with the kids with the pirate who does small group shows.
Amanda Conradie — Google review
We were super excited about the possibility of seeing Australia's oldest lighthouse, even with the warnings that we couldn't go inside it... (NO ACCESS TO LIGHTHOUSE
Due to a recent earthquake and mercury spill, there is NO ENTRY to the interior of the Lighthouse).
So we paid $10/each , okay cheaper the original price is $19.5 then now you need to $10..
But when you get there you can't get even close there, you're only 50m from the lighthouse and you can't see anything and the other arboindigenas attraction was also closed.
Maybe there should be more clear in the signs that you can't even get close the lighthouse.

The location is not far from the available parking area which is quite spacious. It was amazing to see 12 apostles and London Bridge from above. The cost is quite pricy at AUD 165 for a 16 minutes by helicopter, but It’s still rationable.

Didn’t book but lucky enough to have a ride in 20 minutes. Staff are friendly and informative.
First time on a helicopter ride. Took the 16 minutes ride. Spectacular view from it. Pilot shared information about the rocks and coastline.
Few things to note:
- 2 minutes walk from the car park
- walk in possible but may need to wait
- you will get a mini boarding pass that kids will love it

A great scenic flight. We left at 1106. As mentioned elsewhere, try for a front seat or the right hand side of the rear. The position of the sun will influence the quality of your photos. The one below is looking through the front whilst the second one is from the left hand side on the return leg. This is a quick way to see much of the noteworthy sections of the 12 Apostles area.

It's an unforgettable experience one must have at an iconic site.
We took the first 9AM 🚁 flight with the bright sky and low tourist traffic on ground. This turned out to be the best decision. Saw the helicopter being brought out from the hangar and serviced, which was also nice to watch.
The ground staff are nice and the pilot guided us throughout the 16 minutes flight from the names of the islet rocks, migration pattern of birds to the history of Port Campbell town.

Get the best of both worlds seeing Victoria's breathtaking attraction.
This was a tick off our Bucket List and we will most certainly be returning again.
Great service provided by the crew. The team worked well with coordinating, providing safety advice/procedures and history on the iconic Rocks.
A big thank you to the team and a shout out to Callum for the smoothest flight and landing. We learnt quite a bit on the flight to appreciate Victoria's natural beauty.
Tips:
- Pre book your tickets online as time slots get taken quickly.
- Arrive 20 minutes earlier for parking and to line up (we went on a Monday and drove 1 loop around the carpark).
- Wear appropriate shoes and clothes to get in and out of the helicopter. Leave your scarves, hats or any loose items behind or in the car (It's quite windy on ground).
- My last and important tip is to put your phone down while you're up in the air. This was one of my biggest regrets being stuck to my phone and not taking in the views. So enjoy these photos 😉
Until the next flight x

This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had in Australia. While I understand that the staff managing helicopter seats may work long hours, and would like to have the perfect number of passengers in each flight, particularly during the holiday season, it doesn't excuse being rude to customers who prefer not to be split into different helicopters. On the 30th of March, around 5:45 PM, I was part of a group of three friends. Initially, the person in charge approached us politely, suggesting we consider flying in separate helicopters as they had three available, each with a single front seat, allegedly offering a better view (which isn't actually the case)and skipping the line. They didn't have any single riders, and it would have been convenient for them if we had taken different helicopters to fill those seats. We opted to fly together, but our decision led to the staff member becoming incredibly disrespectful towards us.
When it was finally our turn to fly, we were fortunate to be paired with another group of four. The other family was very happy to sit in the back to remain together, and we were happy to take the front seats. However, the staff member rudely claimed it was not possible, stating that if we had wanted to have the privilege of fly in the front seat, we should have accepted his offer earlier. Now, only one of us could fly in the front. Naturally, the family of four was also displeased because somehow they were also punished because of our decision to remain together.
Despite the staff member's extreme rudeness and even being physically pushed out of the line to make room for other customers, both groups, after hours of waiting, chose to fly separately and then file a complaint. The flying experience itself met our expectations, with both the pilot and the other staff members displaying professionalism.
We were among the last groups of the day and were rushing to return to Melbourne, which prevented us from filing a complaint at that time. But, frankly, the encounter with this particular staff member (who was coordinating passengers on the 30th of March at 5:45 PM) was appalling.

The Twelve Apostles, located in Princetown VIC, is a must-see destination along the Great Ocean Road. This marine national park features breathtaking limestone stacks rising from the Southern Ocean, offering a rugged and stunning view of the Australian coast. Visitors can explore this geologically significant site and make lasting memories. The area also offers a visitor centre with amenities like parking and toilets.
Beautiful place, has an information Centre with a small cafe, good parking (can be crowded - take care of you are directed to the small road that leads to the helipad. you will experience 7km of gravel road and 12 km of detour in total). We were there early and enjoyed the view from the platform. The path to the platform is nice and easy, you will need 5minutes maybe. They have a coin press, which is excellent as we are collecting those from all over the world. No parking or entry fee

This is the most memorable trip in Australia. I drove 3 hours+ to get there. The view is stunning and it was very cold due to the rain.
I would have enjoyed it so much more if the weather was good.
As one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, it’s definitely a must to visit. You won’t regret it.
For drivers who aren’t very experience; i will recommend to you to take the internal road to here. As for the more experienced and adventurous drivers, take the great ocean and scenic road there.
Oh man. I really hoped it didn’t rain that day, as there were several locations I’ve yet to visit when I was there.
Be sure to be warmly dressed when going there on winter, as the wind is super chilling and strong.

The destination of many a Great Ocean Road trip, it certainly leaves you in awe. The way each Apostle juts out of the ocean, standing majestically as the waves ebb and flow, the dusky hues of the sunset add the perfect glow to your experience.
I took the time to do the small trek from the 12 Apostles center to Gibson's steps and if you're physically able to and have the time, you will not be disappointed. Two apostles sit there, towering above the shore, a domineering presence. The walk down at Gibson's was pleasant in the morning, not too many people at such a scenic spot. I spent 45 minutes just hanging out.
The entire Great Ocean Road trip was wonderful and worth doing if you like long coastal rides, beach towns, and seeing some of mother nature's best. Enjoy! Light and aloha!

One of Melbourne's top attractions, I visited in April when the weather was warm with a few clouds, creating a beautiful backdrop. The 12 Apostles along Victoria's Great Ocean Road stand as majestic formations, sculpted by nature's relentless forces. Carved from limestone over centuries, they rise defiantly from the Southern Ocean, a testament to time's enduring artistry. At sunrise or sunset, their silhouettes against the horizon evoke a sense of awe, while the turquoise waters below add to the spectacle. Visitors can't help but be entranced by the sheer beauty of these rugged sentinels, a reminder of nature's power and grace. The Twelve Apostles Lookout is not only a significant natural landmark but also a symbol of Australia’s natural beauty, drawing millions of visitors each year to marvel at its grandeur and splendor.
Originally, there were twelve stacks, hence the name, but due to natural erosion over time, only seven of them remain. These towering limestone formations are an iconic sight and a testament to the power of nature’s forces.

Beautiful scenic location, my friends and I came out here as the ultimate destination for our full day road trip from Melbourne. Highly recommend it if you love natural scenery and coastlines. Hurry hurry there are only eight of the original 12 Apostles still standing 😁 what an amazing site to see. I met at AM7:30 at meeting point in Melbourne and departed by tour bus, stopping at several famous places along the way, and were lucky to see koalas at the one of stopping point.
Since it was such a long distance, I had lunch at Apollo Bay (the guide recommended a few famous places. 1 hour stopping).
I were lucky to have nice weather and sunshine, but it was very windy place.
It's a great place to take pictures of your life, but there were so many people that it wasn't easy to take pictures comfortably.
Arrived in Melbourne at 8:20 PM and spent the day as is, but it was not a disappointing day.

It took me 4 hours to get there through Grand Pacific Drive from Melbourne. The drive itself was long but pleasant. The drive offered some beautiful landscapes, making the journey enjoyable despite its length.
However, upon reaching the destination, I quickly realized that the location was in the middle of nowhere. Especially after a tiring 4-hour journey you would expect some good food in a nearby village or town. But there were none.
The view was decent but it wasn’t spectacular enough to compensate for the lack of places to eat or even just rest or chill.
For me, the inconveniences outweighed the positives. I would not consider visiting this place again.
Three star is just for the Grand Pacific Drive.

We visited this place on a bus tour from Melbourne for a day.
Highly recommended either by a bus tour or by driving. A beautiful piece of nature.
It is really a breathtaking sight to behold. One of my go to places in Australia .

A must do when you are in Australia. I did it on a bus tour out of Melbourne for the day. It was wonderful. The scenery is stunning and the water beautiful. Would love to have spent the day going to all the outlooks but the bus stopped at three good ones. Highly recommend you find some way to the Twelve Apostles, either by driving yourself or taking a tour.

So beautiful!! Plenty of parking, and a cute gift shop we didn't expect. The walk says it's 30 minutes return, but it's much shorter. It took us maybe 5 minutes to get to the viewing platform, and 5 minutes to walk back. It's accessible for wheelchairs, too.

Visiting the 12 Apostles in Victoria is a breathtaking experience that everyone should have on their travel bucket list. The dramatic limestone stacks rising majestically from the Southern Ocean create a truly awe-inspiring sight. The coastal scenery is stunning, with rugged cliffs and the turquoise sea providing a perfect backdrop for these natural wonders.
The site is particularly spectacular at sunrise and sunset, when the golden light casts a magical glow over the landscape. The boardwalks and viewing platforms are well-maintained, allowing for excellent vantage points without detracting from the natural beauty.
The surrounding area also offers plenty to explore, including the scenic Great Ocean Road and nearby attractions like Loch Ard Gorge. The visitor center provides informative displays about the history and geology of the Apostles, enhancing the overall experience.
In summary, the 12 Apostles are a must-see destination that showcases the raw, untamed beauty of Australia's coastline. It's a place where nature's grandeur is on full display, leaving visitors with memories that will last a lifetime.

Beautiful natural landscape and quintessential Australian attraction. You must stop here if driving along the Great Ocean Road. Free entry to the viewing platform, which can get busy but if you wait a little it usually clears enough to get some good photos. Plenty of parking, decent toilet facilities, little cafe which makes good coffee and sells cold drinks and souvenirs. They seem to be building a new viewing platform which will look east.

Beautiful views that have very easy walking paths to get to. They have bathrooms at the visitor center, and the parking is free. It is great to see some local wildlife and experience the crisp ocean air.

Can’t imagine we almost missed this. I knew this was the must see of the road trip but this was also the only stop where the entrance to it was on the side away from the beach so was quite easy to miss. Thank goodness we decided to go for a bathroom break and only then saw the sign for the walk to the ocean side. Def a can’t miss!

The Twelve Apostles, a stunning natural wonder located along the iconic Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia, leave an indelible impression on visitors. These limestone stacks rise majestically from the Southern Ocean, creating a breathtaking coastal panorama. The juxtaposition of the towering formations against the backdrop of the azure sea is a visual feast.
The apostles' formation is a testament to the relentless forces of erosion shaping the landscape over millions of years. Though only seven stacks remain standing today, the site continues to captivate with its awe-inspiring beauty. Visitors can appreciate the apostles from designated viewing platforms, each providing a unique perspective.
Sunset and sunrise cast a warm glow on the rocks, enhancing the spectacle. The ever-changing hues of the sky create a magical atmosphere, making these times particularly popular for photographers and nature enthusiasts.
While the Twelve Apostles' popularity draws crowds, it's advisable to visit during off-peak hours to fully appreciate the tranquility and grandeur of the site. Overall, this natural marvel stands as a testament to the power of nature and offers an unforgettable experience for anyone fortunate enough to witness its magnificence.

Hurry guys there are only eight of the original 12 Apostles still standing. A beautiful landscape in Australia. You must walk the Gibson Steps down to the beach area as the perspective is completely different. The sand is super soft and this is one of the most pristine beaches you'll ever walk. But don’t forget to ware something long because the wind blows too fast and you will get hurt by hitting small sand particles. This is a must stop when driving along the Great Ocean Road. They also have helicopter tours for a fee.

Port Campbell National Park is a sprawling park that offers an array of coastal experiences including fishing, diving and canoeing. One of the must-do bucket list items in the area is driving along Great Ocean Road, which takes visitors on a scenic route past stunning beaches and historical sites before leading them into the park. Inside Port Campbell National Park, visitors can marvel at natural wonders such as the Twelve Apostles, London Arch, Loch Ard Gorge and The Razorback.
Very pretty when the weather is right!!! If you are visiting 12 apostles, then you should definitely stop by here and enjoy the views. Meantime, take some photos. There are wild animals like snakes in the bushes, so be careful. When I visited here did see a lizard of some sort.

Very good views of the twelve apostles.
It’s generally windy here so it’s advisable to wear some warm clothing. Also snakes are sometimes seen on the paths.
However the views are fantastic.

We walked part of the Great Ocean Walk from the 12 Apostles car park to Prince Town and back. Took us about 3 hrs. Lovely rugged coastline walk. There is a beautiful little section where you walk through a closed in coastal forest with vines hanging from the tree canopy. Very calming. The only issue, in my honest opinion, was the constant 7 to 8 hours of helicopter noise from the local charter company. It was Easter, so not sure if this is normal. We stayed in Port Campbell and heard the engine noise constantly for 3 days.

Great viewing of what is left of 12 apostles. Helicopter tours available, quite pricey.
Centre staff not helpful, toilets clean. Watch out for tiger snakes, as the warning signs are plentiful.

Gorgeous! Simply stunning. Lucky the weather good and I got to enjoy these magnificent views. Totally worth the long hours of travelling here. There was a helicopter ride available at AUD160. Did not try that out, maybe I might come back and try it out for a different perspective and view in future. Lovely sun set views.

Driving back along part of the Great Ocean Road, in an endeavour to see the 12 Apostles... but had no idea just how insane the peak viewing season was (as I've never been before)... drove straight past all the popular viewing platforms and found a wonderful place, windy, but still serene...and only 1 other couple there at the same time. Stunning view!! Sorry about the wind in the videos 😀😃

Port Campbell is a massive park that encompasses the Twelve Apostles, the London Arch, Loch Ard Gorge, the Gibson Steps and the Grotto. All of these attractions are easily navigable, well organised and worth visiting.
These sites are all solid 4 or 5 star attractions, which makes the park itself an easy 5 stars. It's probably one of the coolest places I've been too in Australia.

What an amazing area of the world. Spectacular views and coastline in every direction, and surprisingly also had some picturesque forests in the area. Extremely busy area during the school holiday period. Good food and good atmosphere in the small towns dotting the coast.

This is one of the world's most scenic drives – and its undoubted highlight is the Twelve Apostles, which tower 45 metres above the Southern Ocean.
It’s a great beautiful place to visit since it’s on the great ocean road. Port Campbell National Park is open to the public all year with free admission. Most of the park consists of natural landmarks that are free to drive up to and enjoy the sights. The park is one of Australia's most popular tourist destinations since it's located along the Great Ocean Road.

Only about 3 - 5 apostles left but still stunning on a good day. The Visitor Centre was closed, the toilets were dirty, and staff seemed to care less. It's definitely only worth a 2 minute stop off while passing through. Beautiful but could be so much better.

Must must see when driving along the Great Ocean Road 💞 I suggest going towards sunset, even more amazing looking and way less crowded in high season. You basically will be there all by yourself. Take the Gibson Steps down and walk on some of the softest sand you'll ever find. You can grab a helicopter ride as well and see it from a completely different perspective.

Port Campbell National Park is located along the famous Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Renowned for its stunning coastal scenery, the park is home to iconic landmarks such as the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, and the London Arch. The rugged cliffs, rock formations, and pristine beaches make it a popular destination for nature lovers and tourists.

Being a Victorian, I have visited The Twelve Apostles many many times over the past 60+ years & have always enjoyed the natural beauty of this stunning scenery. It does not matter what the weather is like, it is always a beautiful place to visit.
Loch Ard Gorge is a nature park situated in the coastal region, which offers self-guided walks, viewing platforms and also has a cemetery. It is one of the many picturesque spots on the Great Ocean Road that attracts high levels of tourism without charging any entry fee. A visit to this fantastic place takes around two hours to appreciate its dramatic coastal scenery, including iconic landmarks such as the Twelve Apostles, The Arch and Gibson Steps.
Magical part of the Australian coastline, these photos were taken from an outcrop that you get to from a road that is not marked about 10 min out of Port Campbell. Like the apostles the high cliffs and water inlets make for some amazing photographs and visual memories that will last for a lifetime. With caves all along some accessible and some not, Loch Are Gorge will take a couple of days to really absorb it all.

As part of my Great Ocean Road trip, I visited this place after the Twelve Apostles, and I didn't know what to expect exactly, but I think it impressed me even more than the apostles themselves. It's a beautiful place to see, with spectacular cliffs, and definitely not to be missed if you find yourself nearby. From the parking area, there are three trails of different lengths leading to new lookout points, and each one is worth exploring as they offer excellent views. Don't miss the opportunity to stroll along these trails for a unique perspective of the area. Worth a visit!

A must visit! There are a few stairs but they aren't steep or too many. Unless you have a lot of difficulty with stairs, highly recommend the walk down to enjoy the gorge up close! If not, the view from the top is also amazing! My pics don't do it justice as it was slightly cloudy when I visited.

The view was splendid and the geologic cave was there on the opposite side of the beach. There is an epic behind the name of the location and beach. And the entire history is written on the board. The place is quite busy and the tide is huge, so bathing or playing in the beach is not allowed

Extremely beautiful place. There’s a spectacular view from the top but the view at the bottom is beyond description. You’ve to get down a few steps to enjoy the full view. We went on a rainy day but the steps weren’t slippery or steep. Crystal clear water. Lot of parking spaces available. 3mins drive from 12 apostles. A must visit.

An amazing spot to visit along the great ocean road. If you’ve come all this way to visit the twelve apostles then you must come here. Great views of the gorge from the top but it’s best to experience by going down to the beach itself and just taking it all in. Will come back here every time I’m in the area, great spot.

Loch Ard Gorge is very near to 12 apostles like 5mins drive. Definitely worth watching. This gives more closer view of rock and sea. Three angles you can watch it. You can get down to sea area too but it takes one hr to come back so I skipped this. But if u r on ur own vehicle you can go for the beach. Its mentioned snakes are there near bushes so alert ur kids n stay away from risky places.

Loch Ard Gorge is a true natural wonder and a highlight of the Great Ocean Road. The towering limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, and sandy beach create a picturesque scene. It's a place where you can truly appreciate the power and beauty of nature. The history of the shipwreck that gives the gorge its name adds a layer of intrigue to the site. Walking along the paths and descending to the beach is an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or a history buff, Loch Ard Gorge is a must-visit destination in Victoria.

Loch Ard Gorge is one of the most scenic places to see on the Great Ocean Road; a protected, sandy beach nestled amongst cliffs. You need to go a few steps down and there is this secluded beautiful serene beach. You will love it here. Nature in its glory, waves crashing in. Go during day time like for me it was one of the tourist attractions I went to during my day tour to the great ocean road.
Waves thread their way through the gorge and up onto the beach when the swell is up. And when it’s calm, the inlet turns glassy and turquoise blue. Tour Groups frequent here during the day, time your visit for sunrise or sunset to avoid the crowds.

Great Ocean Road Port Campbell, VIC 3269, Australia
London Bridge, located along the Great Ocean Road, is a natural rock formation that offers stunning coastal views and a glimpse into the area's geological history. Once connected to land by another arch, it now stands as an offshore rock arch with a broken platform. The collapse of part of the bridge in 1990 has added to its scenic features, providing visitors with a unique blend of history and nature.
Worth a stop during sunset!
A lot platforms and a few benches to sit on. Very, very windy but calming.
I had the place to myself again.
It’s in my top 3 spots along the GOR.
Rouven Grossmann — Google review
Remember the song of ‘London Bridge is falling down’ then you’d definitely be right; London Bridge is a limestone archway just offshore that was once connected to the mainland.
The part of the rock formation actually collapsed in January 1990, creating the sheer cliffside that you see today. Thankfully no one was hurt, but two tourists did get stranded on the remaining arch and had to be rescued by helicopter!
The views from the London Bridge lookout over the Arch and the pristine beach below are beautiful and definitely one of our favourite places to see on the Great Ocean Road.

This is one of the last piece in 12 Apostles area but worth to visit to complete the trip of 12 Apostles and surrounds.
Head to the upper western or lower eastern viewing platforms at London Bridge and take in sweeping views of the great Southern Ocean.
Originally a natural archway and tunnel in an impressive offshore rock formation, London Bridge collapsed in 1990 and became a bridge without a middle. Before the collapse, visitors to the site were able to walk across 'the eastern bridge' that stretched across to the mainland.
Disabled access available and plenty of Car Parking spaces available.

Another great sight to see on the Great Ocean road just a short walk from the carpark. It can get very busy during peak times and sunsets here are particularly pleasant, like most areas along the coastline here. Dogs are not allowed here unfortunately (try Bay of Islands instead!). Worthwhile seeing before it collapses further!

Great spot to take in the sight of London bridge. Easy walk to both viewing spots, although the view point closer down towards the beach you’d be best wear some grippy shows as you’ll be walking on some rock at the end which may be slippery if wet.

After visiting 12 apostles, go beyond a little bit, and you'll find this beautiful scenery. The sound of the waves crashing to the rocks is both amazing and deadly at the same time. Best part is that this area is not too busy so you'll get plenty of chance to take great pictures.

Another nature site must be visited after the Twelve Apostles. Worthwhile to visit as it provides a stunning view, how the strong waves are constantly ramping the side of the wall, crashing the rocks.
One of the arch had collasped in 1990. They rock are slowly erroded due to strong wind and sea.

It is a stunning rock formation along the Great Ocean Road. It was once a natural arch but collapsed in 1990, leaving two disconnected pillars. Despite the collapse, it remains a popular tourist spot with breathtaking coastal views and a reminder of the ever-changing nature of landscapes.

Very picturesque place. You definitely won’t regret visiting this place during the Great Ocean Road trip.

Some claimed the same or better than the famous of Twelve Apostles, but just as impressive in our view, the Bay of Islands is a collection of pale limestone stacks buffeted by the heavy waves of the Southern Ocean.
The Bay of Islands is about 25 minutes past the Twelve Apostles, near Peterborough. Let’s known and more peaceful to enjoy the view as less tourist known. They're particularly beautiful at sunset, and there’s a short boardwalk along the coastline where you can take in the best views. With similar scenery to the Apostles yet half the crowds, this is definitely one of the more underrated places to visit along the Great Ocean Road.
