Iconic Australian beach with the best sands, waves and lifeguards! Always swim between the flags here if you can’t swim (it’s so busy you might not get saved in time), plenty of space to sunbathe, quite safe to leave your belongings if you go there on your own, and heaps of awesome eateries around…

Worth a visit. I stay bang opposite a beach but still a visit to Bondi beach was in my list & it was worth the trip. There are a number of shops across the beach to pick up a quick bite or to get some souvenirs.
Mohamed Adil — Google review
I made the mistake of thinking that a day trip was enough to visit Bondi Beach. I should have planned to stay a few days because the place is beautiful and it requires time just to sit at the beach and enjoy. Beautiful.
Nelson — Google review
We came here on the annual kites day, The weather was very good, the sea water was crystal clear, and there were many large and small kites flying in the sky. I stared at a colorful catfish kite for a long time, personally it was my favourite, I hoped that the whale kite would finally fly in the day. It struggled for a long time.

Beautiful beach 🏖️ , awesome view, open type paid parking space, clear water 💦 , fine sand, clean environment, best for surfing 🏄 , green field nearby and available for picnic 🧺 , public toilet ready, pub and bar available nearby, not suitable to bring young kids due to big wave 🌊 , dog friendly beaches, and free standing type public shower 🚿 and bidet available nearby. Thank you Australia 🇦🇺 tourism!🫶🏻❤️🌈
Jasonz Chong — Google review
This is a very famous beach and I thought, it would be clear why when we went there.
No, it is not clear.
Other beaches seem much nicer.
This is just a lot of people, many cars, busy roads, boring stores and the day we visited the waves were so small that even the surfers could not show what they can.
Find one of the others for a more real experience of a Sydney beach.
Jens Peter Olesen — Google review
Love coming to this beach it’s really nice heaps of people but it’s really nice to come at night very peaceful don’t recommend to swim at night but
Joe Borsellino — Google review
Bondi is one of the most popular beach in Sydney. This is really a good beach with great view. It has a nice long walking trail to walk, sit and rest. It is really a great place for refreshment. The place can be crowded depending upon the day of the week. Also, finding parking can be very difficult. However, I will definitely visit this place again.
Mohammad Naimur Rahman — Google review
One of my favourite beaches in Sydney. It does get crowded most of the times but still great. There’s a park with good views, bbqs, public toilets, cafes and restaurant right in front of the beach. 30 minutes from the cbd by bus.
Ignacio Banos — Google review
Big beautiful beach for swimming and surfing. Skate board park, playground, water fountain, and picnic tables. The only downside is not enough parking.
C Yager — Google review
As much as popular tourists spot, there are thousands of visitors at the beach, the most fascinating scenery is before sunset and sea-side walk. Also the place is easily purchase grocery and lots of tasty restaurants.
옹유진 — Google review
Iconic stretch of sand in Sydney's East with great surf and waves. Easily accessible by public transport via the 333 bus from Bondi Junction, Circular Quay or the CBD in general. Respectful lifeguards who will inform you off any potential rips as well.
Justin Yau — Google review
This is definitely the most beautiful and best beach I have ever experienced in my life. The beautiful sea and sunshine are such a wonderful day.
Hsiaoyun Amemiya — Google review
Beautiful beach, very busy and the waves are huge but we had such a good time. Got to see the Bondi Beach Lifeguards in action, they are very vigilant and make sure to keep everyone safe.👌🌊🛟📣
joanne_ gls — Google review
Beautiful beach, always clean, big and spacious, easy to get there via public transport.
Parking is a little mental, try and avoid if possible (unless you get there really early!).
Waves are pretty crazy but aslong as you stay within the flags you’ll be sweet.
Always amazing sun rises and sunsets :)
Louise Jones — Google review
Sydney’s iconic Bondi beach. It is usually overcrowded but no doubt it’s a beautiful beach. It’s a must visit for Sydneysiders and visitors but the sea can be rough so always follow lifeguards warnings. Lots of shops, cafes and restaurants in the area.
Big grassy area for picnics and metered parking along the esplanade available but can be difficult to secure on weekends.
Niki Vasiliadis — Google review
A perfect beach for fishing, walking on the sands before the crowds.
Perfect in winter, summer, spring or Autumn. Or just sitting on the beach
Jack Bateman — Google review
Great place to visit. It’s known to be a very touristy area but it’s definitely worth a visit. Very picturesque
Dimitrios Sofianopoulos — Google review
One of the wellknown beaches in Sydney.
It's great for swimming, surfing, bars, and sunrises, and there are
a lot of parking. You could go here by bus easily as well.
SO — Google review
I went there on weekday and it wasn’t crowded. The endless horizon looked like the edge of the earth that corroborated the fact that Earth is round. The wave, the water, the sand, the beach and the surrounding was blending all in all to exude amazing vibe and ambiance. People were surfing and it was fun to watch em all. It’s beautiful there. Huge beach space that can contain hundreds of visitors. Will definitely visit it again.
Puskar Rai — Google review
Great place to relax and chill. You can enjoy the views from all around this place. Has all the facilities like shower, restrooms and restaurants in close proximity. Can get crowded during weekends and be bit difficult to find the parking close by.
Sravanthi Dharanipragada — Google review
Nice beach for surfing. Can get crowded. Not suitable for kids swimming as it can get rough. If I'm being honest it's a bit overrated. Not bad but gets more hype than it deserves given that Australia has really countless spectacular beaches that don't get a mention.
Ahmed Metwally — Google review
As an Australian, (I live in Melbourne however) This beach is really nice! Definitely worth seeing at-least once in your lifetime. Can get crowded so it’s definitely not an every day beach, but lovely to walk along and take in the serenity. Just be aware there are other beaches in Australia, and although this is probably one of the most popular ones, there are a lot more that I would say are more beautiful and less crowded!
google reviewer — Google review
Took the 333 bus to Bondi Beach. Crowded beach but space to lay. Recommend reapplying the sunscreen. Lifeguards were busy the entire time having people swimming away from the rip currents. At times, the waves crashed on you about every 8- 10 seconds. You should be a really good swimmer if you go out to where the waves crash.
De De — Google review
Love it! A beautiful one stop beach with excellent facilities all around from shopping to food, cafes, accommodation, everything! Absolute pleasure to see and enjoy!
Kosta Kambo — Google review
Lots of people are saying that Bondi Beach is overrated and mainstream, but they know nothing. It’s such a nice place and it has a great vibe all around it, from the sand, the waves, the views, the shops around to all the people that come and just chill out or working out. It’s just an amazing place to hang out
Vaan Christian Mogool — Google review
Ok I live here and I’m bias but for me Bondi Beach is magical. The beach is divine, different every day and the village has everything you need. It can be peaceful and serene, or buzzing and vibrant. I couldn’t ask for a better place to live.
Natasha King — Google review
Went there in the evening, didn’t manage to experience the peak or massive crowd as shown in other review/photos.
Long sandy beach. Nice place to have a stroll.
#relax
Can walk slightly uphill to enjoy the cliff view!
P/S: If you are going with public transport, you can take bus 333 to Bondi Beach.

Bondi Beach, nestled in the vibrant coastal suburb of Bondi in NSW, Australia, is a sun-soaked haven that encapsulates the Aussie beach culture. Renowned for its golden sands and impressive waves, it attracts surfers, sunbathers, and tourists alike. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk offers breathtaking views, while the buzzing Campbell Parade is lined with trendy shops and eateries. The beach's lively atmosphere is infectious, but it can get crowded during peak times. Lifeguard patrols ensure safety, making it suitable for families. Bondi Beach epitomizes the quintessential Australian beach experience, blending natural beauty, water activities, and a laid-back coastal vibe.
ajleeblog — Google review
An incredible big beach. Lots of blue bottles on the beach today. The one criticism is the lack of ramps to get around and see the sites. Lots of stairs.
Taronga Zoo Sydney is one of the world's largest zoos and home to over 340 different species of animals. The zoo has panoramic views over the iconic Sydney Harbour and offers a range of activities including daily bird and seal shows as well as keeper-led Wild Australia Experience and VIP Aussie Gold Tours.
Bird enclosure / exhibits are the real standouts of this zoo. Bug exhibit needs significant work (would love to see a butterfly enclosure similar to Melbourne's). Seal show is good. Recommend looking at the exhibit times on the map (which you can opt to collect from a stand just inside the entry) as these are impressive. Also recommend booking online so you can ride the skyline up to the zoo's entrance (if you take the ferry). For those wondering the views of the city from this zoo are excellent and the lines for tickets move quickly!
Chris Newnham — Google review
Incredible spot overlooking the harbour. Booked in advance, scanned QR code on entry. Very easy and waiting time was not too long.
Easily navigable zoo, with plenty of interesting enclosures. Lots of kids (as you would expect) but plenty of ways to avoid the crowds when you can. Not too hilly or difficult to get around.
Food options very limited, but easy to go through the park in 2-3 hours, and hop on the ferry back to Circular Quay for other food options.
Jamie Coates — Google review
The over all experience was great. Beautiful ferry ride across the bay, amazing bird show and plenty to see. Put your walking shoes on because it's on a cliff. Lots of steep paths and steps. Great for exercise. Some of the larger animals have quite small enclosures Was the only downside.
Caroline Hobbs — Google review
Last visited 28 December 2022 so thought I'd share a review on here. Fabulous zoo!! Far better than any zoo's in NZ. Cost is only NZ$50 (or about AU$44) and that included the gondola. Return ferry to Circular Quay - public transport is dirt cheap (Opal) compared with NZ. Bird and Seal Show is wonderful. Though the seal show line is super long, we still managed to get a seat for the first time at the front. It'll be great if this zoo could order heaps of size L t-shirts for men and a variety especially for the summer holidays. Good thing we visited before they closed the gondola for renovations. Weather was beautiful. A day trip well worth it. We'll be back in Syd end of this year (late December) for a solid 2 weeks. With plans to visit the Gold Coast for the 1st time, end of next year (end of 2024)... AL from New Zealand.
Alastair Wanoa — Google review
A great space designed for kids and adults both to see animals. The slopes are quite steep so recommend to reach the top and walk down the slope. It's little tricky for older people who have limited walking ease. The bird and seal shows are really great and love the way they are delivered. It does have 2 ways to see the zoo and one should decide which path to follow.

What a fantastic place to visit! We visited Taronga Zoo for the first time on a holiday to Sydney for our toddler's birthday, and we all had an amazing day. We took the direct ferry from Circular Keys and got there early and, despite being school holidays, it didn't feel too busy within the zoo.
The views of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are spectacular.
The enclosures all appeared well maintained and there are lots of encounters and interactions available to purchase. We bought tickets for the giraffe feeding which was fun!
There was quite a bit of construction going on to improve the park but it didn't affect us.
We spent over 4 hours there but could have easily spent longer if our daughter wasn't tired out.
We'll definitely go back again!
Yasmine — Google review
Definitely 5 stars!!! Amazing zoo with huge amount of animals, who looks very happy and healthy, clean fur and playful animals.
We saw koalas, giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers , penguins and many more spices. Large area , and on a hill. A lot of walking. Takes a full day to explore and enjoy in full.
We got there by ferry as well as returned back to a circle quay in 10 min each way. That was very convenient, as well as we were able to see Harbor , Bridge and architectural side of Sydney from a water side.
Highly recommend to visit, especially if you are visiting with kids!!!
Nadezda Musatova — Google review
A lovely zoo with amazing Sydney city & harbour views. Can be accessed by bus, car & ferry & we went ferry both ways (short trip from Circular Quay). Buses available from ferry up hill to main entry. There is also an entry at bottom near ferry.
Lots of animals including Australian- opportunity for koala photos & walking amongst kangaroos & emus.
Sadly chairlift not working, with other issues with up escalators & also 1 lift. Meant additional walking.
Food is very average in food court - $40 for a couple of chicken meals & an ice-cream. Could buy drinks incl alcohol.
Various ticket options - cheaper to buy online. Cashless zoo now.
Always worth a visit.
Peter E — Google review
I loved this zoo. It is so well set out. The animals appear to be happy and content and in good condition. It's set on a hill but has lifts and escalators to help those of us who are aging or not so fit ! Good toilets and food outlets and a lovely well stocked reasonably priced shop. Easy to get to by the local ferries.
Lesley Tweddle — Google review
First time to come here.
Come with my kids, this is a great place to see so many animals.
Kids must be so happy to be here.
The zoo is so big. We can walk around the whole area to see so many kind of animals.
I suggest to buy tickets in advance through their official website to get discount.
Veliska — Google review
An amazing day spent with my 3 teenage girls around the park.
During Covid times, we are encouraged to book tickets online. We used Dine & discover voucher to enter. The parking was a flat rate. Using a car is cheaper when you are a group of more than 4.
The park is for all ages.. The seal show was amazing and very informative..
It took us around 4 hours to go all around. It is good to go as early as 10 and take 6 hours not to rush..
I think it is a great zoo with a great team of workers spread all over the place to make the visit memorable.
It is important to wear comfortable shoes due to the amount of walking to be done.
Dima Istambouli — Google review
One of the best zoo’s I’ve visited over the years! The timing of our trip was perfect! When a koala bear sleeps 20 hours a day, how lucky can you get when you can see the Koala climbing the tree.
I’m additional, all of the animals were lively and actively moving around in their environment.
The animal exhibits were very close, making it easier to see the animals.
If you make the trip, take the bus to the zoo and return back to the city via ferry for the scenic views of the bridge and opera house.
Marshall Azar — Google review
Visited in the rain, so some of the animals used to warmer environments seemed quite unhappy. The seal show was very impressive, and the animals seem to have very good care taken of them in this zoo. The experience was well priced, including travelling to the zoo from the city via ferry.
Ilar — Google review
A great day at the zoo: huge diversity of animals, clean and ethical enclosures, informative shows and keeper talks, and gorgeous views of the harbour and city.
However, a word of warning, while it is technically accessible, the hills/stairs can get pretty steep.
Discount when buying tickets online, and you can just head to the gate with the QR code.
Helen Lee — Google review
Be aware the zoo might be a bit larger than you think and the experience might get a little bit overwhelming.
...and there's A LOT of children. 😁
Apart from that, I got a very natural feeling here, tasteful enclosures, some animals even weren't asleep during my visit.
Nothing to think about, go there, enjoy, a must visit while in Sydney.
Such a shame the Sky safari is no longer available thought.
Pavel Vajner — Google review
Amazing Zoo and fantastic staff! We did the Koala and Dingo Encounters, and I can't recommend enough! Throughout the park, you get up close to so many animals, several walking in your path or even hanging out right above you. And the views of the Harbor aren't too bad either.
Karma Stardust — Google review
It was my first visit in the last 10 years. Absolutely a great zoo with amazing skyline of Sydney.
The animals looked healthy and a great place for anyone either kids or adults.
Loved the concept of rainforest walk with birds, so that birds are not in small cages.
It was nice to see giraffe, elephant, lion and much more.
The staff were super friendly and helpful.
There are maps at many different spots for those who get lost like me.
Good food at cafe.
The shelter areas were best since we also took some food from to have it at the park.
I would definitely recommend this zoo and visit again sometime in the future.
Dartion Nag — Google review
A great day out for young and old, singles or groups. So many animals to see and enclosures offer great viewing opportunities. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The views of Sydney are spectacular too. So lucky to have this on offer so close to the heart of Sydney. Highly recommend a day out here!
Jessica Robinson — Google review
We went for the view of Sydney and that didn’t disappoint. Ferry trip was lovely, quick and cheap. There was a huge queue for the gondola ride so we got the bus. Which was full and not Covid friendly!
I had been to the zoo in the late 80s when a relative of mine worked there. Not much has changed. Except it’s. wry expensive to get it. $51 to be exact. And the prices for coffee and snacks were steep.
It did look a bit tired and in need of some dollars spent on upgrades. I live in Adelaide and apart from the view our zoo is faring better.
However it was a pleasant day and we got our steps up and the view is beautiful.
Mouse Croghan — Google review
Well-designed and lovely zoo. The Wildlife Retreat is where we stayed, so getting to the zoo was simple. Amazing displays. Big zoo, but not overpowering like some can be. Cashless. Numerous displays of Australian animals may be located all across the zoo. They have amazing viewing spots that let you get close-up and personal. From Circular Quay, using the ferry and bus is simple.
Evelyn Clark — Google review
Wonderful experience at the Wildlife Retreat. Staff were great and overall running was smooth and they provided extra touches that made it feel so special for my boyfriend and I who were there to celebrate his birthday. The guided tours were informative and getting to see the animals close up was pretty cool (for a non-animal lover myself).
Buffet breakfast was my personal highlight - quality of food and serve was great with views to match. Plus having access to the zoo on the from the day you check in to the day you check out is a great bonus.
Highly recommend if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion.
Cindy Ma — Google review
First time at Taronga Zoo and I am impressed by it’s great variety of attractions. Plenty of kids friendly trails and activities so it will be perfect for families to visit. There are also a few areas under construction at the moment since they are relocating some of the exhibits.
It took us around 4-5 hours to walk through the entire zoo which is a decent size considering it being so close to city. Make sure to allocate time to catch some of the animal talks/shows or their feeding time. It wasn’t too busy even for a weekend. Parking was easy to find ($22 flat rate) and close to no line up for entry.
Michelle Leung — Google review
More than a simple zoo. Elegant, well designed with color identification of the trails to follow. Varied fauna and flora integrated into very beautiful settings. It even has an area with marine animals typical of the area. Many activities for the little ones and numerous support services. Easy to access from central Sydney by bus or ferry. Highly recommended. One morning or one afternoon are needed, at least, for sure.
Pedro M. — Google review
Spent the afternoon casually strolling through the Taronga Zoo. It’s an easy ferry ride away from Circular Quay making it a good way to burn up time on vacation in Sydney.
Clean, well maintained, and laid out with an easy walking flow from one themed area to another. I never felt like I was being rushed or missing anything.
My favorite aspects were the walk through aviaries that let you get up close to many of the birds in residence and the focus on the welfare of the animals in their charge.
Unlike any zoo I’ve been too before, Taronga Zoo has preserved some of their oldest building, defunct buildings as educational exhibits of how zoos kept animals in the past and how it different it is today.
Sean Wally (JQLSpec Garage) — Google review
Huge and fun place for kids and kids at heart. love that there are many animals to see and a lot of resting areas too. The structure of the zoo where you have to go up and downhill made it a little bit more challenging for older people to go around but still fun though. it a very nice view of the harbour bridge and the ferry ride made it even more exciting for guests from other states and overseas too.
Foodie Luwee — Google review
No wait if you buy the tickets in advance.
Free parking if you try to find one just a couple of meters away on the street.
Great location and wonderful experience.
They stopped cable car unfortunately last year on Tuesday 31 January 2023 but they are planning to return in next year 2025- which means bit of uphill walk for now.
Lots and varieties of Animals. Loved seeing Giraffes and Zebras, Lions, Chimpanzees, Tigers. NRMA members gets discounted tickets purchased online- Two benefits, no wait in the queue and you pay less.
Overall you need at-least 3 hours and around 3.5-4 hours if you have babies / kids.
If its very hot summer, chances are few animals might take shelter and you may or may not see them at all. so, weather is very important. Best thing is, Taronga Zoo is open 365 days of the year. Family-friendly and kids love it. Pram and wheelchair friendly. at certain places, they also have lifts.
Ishan Mehta — Google review
The Taronga zoo I one of the best zoo in the world I have ever been too. You have to take a fairy ride from Sydney to get to the zoo. I highly recommend buying a ticket ahead of time the zoo you could be there all day. There’s so many things to look at. You can also buy a ticket ($12) to get up close and personal with the koala bears and that is a must. It’s like the zoo is on its own island and has a great view looking back at Sydney.
Emily Paige — Google review
Animal experience was good
Food courts were super crowds but they had few vegetarian options which is good.
Ticketing experience was not so good- only family price was 105 but they were giving it for 118. And when I asked for entertainment book offer then she used the individual ticket price rather than the family price.
Ankur Goyal — Google review
Awesome views from the Zoo of Sydney Harbour & Bridge. Taronga Zoo has awesome up close enclosures to view all the animals as well. It's really easy to get to by the Ferry. Had an awesome day. Do yourself a favour & visit. The views across the harbour to the city are worth it on their own & the animals are a bonus 😀 Just do it!! P.S. Buy your tickets online & save yourself a few bucks. Enjoy
Mark Eekelschot — Google review
A large sprawling zoo, built on a coastal hillside. Excellent variety of animals, lots of walking involved (start at the top/main entrance rather than the ferry entrance and work your way down if you tire easily). The walk through aviaries were particularly immersive. Keeper talks are available, included in the admission fee, some feeding times are advised, others can be chanced upon. Fantastic example of a non for profit zoo.
Claire Ten Bohmer — Google review
Was more than a little disappointed at a number of exhibits at the zoo today. Having not been in a few years I was please to see it was clean and had many changes.
No skyway chair lift. Closed with a promise of a future replacement. Surely that could have been better planned.
Koala exhibit. How many million was spent on that. And all to see ONE single solitary koala. Not that it was really visible. But 1 koala.
Tiger exhibit. A few million more spent there no doubt. And again a long trek with the promise of tigers. Yep ONE tiger again. 🐅
I guess it beats all those enclosures where no animals could be seen.
The bird talk was almost as great as I remember. But sadly the best thing I saw at the zoo were the views of Sydney. It's great but not what the zoo is all about.
Add to that toilets that were the second worst I have encountered (second only to a highway rest area near shanghai). And this applies to the toilets near the entrance and the elevators. Come On Taronga!!
There's great potential but it just missed the mark.
Matt Justaddwata — Google review
Best place spend with kids, be early in the morning to watch maximum shows in the zoo. Seal show, bird show must watch. Carry food, the quality of food is average inside the zoo. Cap and sun glass to protect from sun. Rain forest walk will be joyful as well.
SivaPrakash Mohan — Google review
Great Sydney day out. Zoo is well kept staff are informative. Good selection of food. Buy tickets online in advance, even on the morning of the trip, you will save a minimum of 10%. Then donate the savings to the Zoo, and choose an animal of your choice. Everyone wins.
Greg Nicholls — Google review
Had a great experience at Taronga Zoo with our little one. Located in a beautiful location and home to a wide range of animals. We were able to complete most but not all animal encounters.
The bird show and seal show are a must see as the kids really enjoyed it. You can plan for an entire day and add the encounters and shows that you would like to visit on their app. Maps are also provided.
There are a few cafes spread out within the zoo for quick bites and ice-creams.
It’s a must visit with kids of all ages.
Kanika Mathur — Google review
We spent about 2hrs here walking round most if not all of the animals. There are plenty of trees and seats around the park which great because it was 25 degrees and very sunny.
Instead of getting the bus we made the 4 minute walk up the hill to the south entrance. There are steps and then escalators to the right.
The cost to enter is about AU$50 which is not cheap but there is a lot to see. If you have kids be sure to go to the petting zoo to see the Alpacas and the goats.

Taronga Zoo Sydney offers a captivating wildlife experience with stunning views of the harbor. The well-maintained exhibits showcase a diverse range of animals, from iconic Australian species to exotic creatures. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident, making it an enriching visit for all ages. The Sky Safari cable car enhances the experience, providing breathtaking panoramas. Educational talks and close-up encounters with animals add value, fostering a deeper connection to wildlife. The layout is well-planned, offering a seamless journey through different ecosystems. However, ticket prices are relatively high. Overall, Taronga Zoo Sydney is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts seeking an immersive and educational adventure.

We had an amazing experience at this zoo in Sydney, which we consider the best ever. The variety of animals is impressive. The koala area is a must-see, and the well-designed layout offers different sections for animal viewing, along with beautiful skyline views of the city. It's highly recommended, especially for families with kids. We spent six hours exploring everything, including fantastic bird and seal shows, and the zoo also provides stunning views of Sydney Harbour. On-site parking is plentiful, and the spacious, modern animal enclosures are in excellent condition. A must-visit for anyone in Sydney for a few days.
The Manly-to-Spit Bridge Coastal Walk is a well-maintained, scenic trail that meanders its way along the coast of Sydney. It's popular for its peaceful coastal views and tranquil surroundings, making it an ideal spot for a day hike.
The walk was relaxing and good. There are many restrooms along the way. You can either choose to go through the beach (along the sea) or take the path above the beach. The view was amazing and there are good resting points (sitting benches in the lookout).
The road was a bit muddy due to the rain yesterday so beware of that.

Recommended by a local while we rode the ferry in to Manly. Manly to Spit bridge walk has some beautiful views and an opportunities to discover some of the off grid beaches and coves. I particularly liked walking to the point where you have beautiful views of Sydney also the opening of the bay it’s about 10 km starting from the Wharf in Manly, but I just did up and back for about 10 km. My understanding is you can walk the whole way and catch a bus in to Sydney. But I wanted to take the ferry back.

Relaxing walk along the coast. Breathtaking views of turquoise ocean. Easy grade walk.

Beautiful walk along the coast. Includes quite a few steps and stairs so great for exercise. The views of the harbour from within the park are priceless (on a lovely spring day)

The best walking track to do in Sydney surrounded by nature and beautiful paths. I have been four times and never disappointed. If you can go on sunny days you will see the most wonderful color of the sea, the views are great and if you are lucky you will see some animals along the way.

Great walking track, it took 2.5h, 10km, to get to Manly, starting point was Spit bridge.
Beautiful lookouts in your way, but there are steps, up and down in the way too, just be mindful about it in case you have difficulty with steps and uphill, downhill.

**This map location is a duplicate of the Spit to Manly walk and the Manly to Spit Bushwalk** Obviously, they're all the same walk, but have acquired different map listings.
This is a must-do in Sydney. This forms part of the Bondi to Manly walk, and I highly recommend you do the whole thing (in stages). I don't know if there's anywhere else in the world where you can be so close to bush and beach, and still just a ferry ride away from the CBD.
⛱️ Beaches and views galore! Plenty of spots to have a dip if you choose, in many beaches not easily accessed by car.
☕ If you're looking for a coffee, Contarf is your main spot after Manly and until you cross the Spit.
🚻 There are toilets spaced pretty evenly along the route, all marked on Google Maps. The longest stretch without one is Clontarf to Dobroyd.
💦 There are bubblers about as often as toilets, but I recommend brining a bottle/spare, especially if it's hot.
🚶♀️ There are a fair few stairs. I think anyone who does a bit of walking should be able to manage, there are plenty of spots to just pause and have a rest. Remember, everyone gets out of breath on these stairs, don't take it personally!
❗ There are some amazing pieces of history: from Aboriginal engravings (Grotto point) to where Prince Alfred was nearly assassinated (Clontarf) to the first contact site between the First Fleet and the Gayamaygal people (just south of Manly).
✨ Enjoy this gem of Sydney! ✨

It's a pretty long trial for the people who don't prefer long walks and enjoy short trials. I honestly enjoy every step of this trial and the view that I was able to encounter was so beautiful and exquisite. It's not that busy so you can walk on your pace viewing the scenery all around. I absolutely recommend this trial.

The Manly to Spit Bridge Coastal Walk is a delightful bush walk that meanders along the coastline, offering stunning views of the beach and ocean.
The trail is generally easy to walk, although there are some slippery sections to be cautious of. It's a must-visit for nature lovers seeking a scenic and enjoyable coastal walk.

We did this walk last week, on a beautifully sunny day ( before the rain arrived a few days later!) . It was something we’d wanted to do for years but, for various reasons, it hadn’t happened. This trip to Sydney we made it a priority - we are getting older, not younger! The walk took us longer than the 3 hours lots of reviews gave, but we took our time, stopped to admire the continually changes views and landscape, take photos etc- also stopped for coffees and delicious muffins at Clontarf beach kiosk! Be prepared for steps (up as well as down!!) and some rocky patches, but overall not a difficult walk for anyone who is reasonably fit. We were so glad we finally did that walk - a highlight of our trip to Sydney.

My first coastal walk in Sydney and it was amazing. I was really surprised by amount of nature within the city and how well its marked and guided. Combine it with walk around Manly and the day is covered!
Łukasz Halicki — Google review
One of the classic Sydney walks and well worth the effort. About 10km long, commencing at Spit Bridge and finishing at Manly Wharf. A grade3 track that is unsuitable for prams etc and dogs are prohibited in the National Park areas including Dobroyd Head. Some indigenous rock art, great views of the harbour and other areas make the walk well worth it. Pack lots of drinking water.. cafes at either end.

Reef Beach Track, Balgowlah Heights NSW 2093, Australia
Shelly Beach is located in east coast of Australia, facing west. This beach has a large reef that protects it from the heavy ocean swells, making it a quiet and perfect place for a picnic or gentle swim.
Beautiful beach and water, went for a snorkel but swell too high and too crowded so didn’t see many fishes!
Daniel Tan — Google review
beautiful beach with shells. The beach is covered in shells, as the name implies. The protected coral reef is well-known for snorkelling. The beach was incredibly touristy and busy.
The Shelly Headland Higher Lookout is a must-see; it's considerably prettier than the beach itself. affords a wonderful view of the waves and the ocean and is quieter. This is right next to the parking spot.
Enam Kabir — Google review
While Manly beach is at the open sea with high waves (therefore popular with the surfers), Shelly beach is in an small bay/ cove and protected from the waves. That’s why it’s popular with kids and families.
You can easily swim here, lots of people also snorkel.
The only annoying thing: it’s full of these pheasant birds….or are they turkeys???
Adnan Kukic (AK292) — Google review
One of the best diving spots in Sydney, Shelly Beach boasts magical life underwater. From a range of octopus, squid and a variety of sea brims. Wobbies, Port Jackson’s and lots of fish swimming around.
Great to dive on both side - edge of the rocks on the left of the beach and also the pathway on the left hand side.
Petko Petkov — Google review
Good place for snorkeling.
A lot of fishes even near beach.
And place is really peaceful even if there are too many people in a beach.
This place is not far from Manly beach but character is totally different. Manly is kind of major and popular one so many people visit here but this place is a bit minor but for me, it looks like unique such like hidden jam.
If you have a equipment for snorkeling, do not miss this place!!

One of my favourite Sydney beaches absolutely beautiful place to have a picnic and a swim 🏊♂️ or just to relax and chill out, excellent for the children, no big waves 😀 and small enough for you to keep a eye on out for your friends, you can't miss them and your friends will find you easily on this small beautiful beach

A lovely afternoon spent on Shelly Beach. Good fun to snorkel around with enough wildlife to keep you interested.
Public changing rooms and toilets are clean, and quite new.
Lots of what look like some kind of turkey wandering around.
Owen Tully — Google review
Nice spot for a shore dive. Only downside is the trek from the carpark down to the beach with gear. You need to sit for a moment to catch your breath before heading down to the water for a dive. You'll see lots of fish, a few wobbegong sharks and the odd stingray too.
Helen Di Domenico — Google review
Shelly Beach is in the Cabbage Tree Bay Reserve, a protected marine area near North Head and Fairy Bower (home of one of our favourite ocean pools). Walk past the brush turkeys and the legions of scuba divers suiting up to arrive at the beach itself, a rare west-facing one that’s small and pretty and looks back towards Manly and Fairy Bower.
But Sartre was right. Hell is other people. Even at 9.30am in the morning there was a lot of them, making it hard to enjoy a paddle around or snorkel while dodging the traffic all around.
The many ocean swimmers were particularly, er, assertive, insisting on claiming right of way for their straight lines in an otherwise organic environment. Like trying to make lap lanes in the sea. It felt very north shore and colonial. They also frighten away the fish as the churn through snorkelers.
Under the water there were a lot of fish of various sizes and species, plus our favourites the squid… but the southern edge in particular was marred by a lot of human detritus, from plastics to bits of scuba and snorkeling kit, revealing an environment under pressure from our presence. The northern perimeter was much cleaner, but not particularly relaxing thanks to the overcrowding we were only adding to.
It does have showers, toilets and a cafe along with free electric barbeques, plus a fancier dining and bar option, The Boat House. It’s part of a chain of identically branded and named places you’ll find dotted up to the privileged beaches.
Shelly Beach has expensive pay and display ticketed carpark, which does have some pretty good views of Shelly Headland and is only a short walk away from the beach… but we wouldn’t go back.

A tropical hideaway cove, reminiscent of Phuket. Lovely!! Some very nice cafes, but parking impossible in the summer. However it's got a really nice beach/rockface pathway 15 minutes walk from Manly beach.

A beautiful beach and an excellent walk connecting it to Manly.
The beach gets insanely busy, but during off peak times is a lovely place to relax and has a couple of cafes right next to it.
Due to it being a cove, most of the waves are pretty small, but some bigger ones do sneak through.
Good amateur snorkelling to be done here.
Excellent for sunrise, with lots of people out running, walking, swimming, rowing, surfing and snorkelling.
Parking is available close by, but is limited and expensive.

There is a cafe nearby also. Nice little walk further up to look out at the cliffs.

I recommend coming early if you’re parking. Parking is a bit expensive but if you’re only staying couple hours it’s worth it. Easy walk to and from manly beach.
Manly Beach is a huge sand beach in Sydney with many shops and restaurants. It is a popular surfing spot and is great for relaxation.
My favourite place to visit when in Sydney. We lived above a restaurant on the Corso for 6 months whilst our house was being built up on the Central Coast. I loved going to and from work in Sydney on the Ferry and Hydrofoil. It's a lovely trip. The beach is gorgeous, full of people walking, walking their dogs along the pathway or roller skating/skate boarding etc. Or just sitting with an ice cream and enjoying the sun and surf. It has a lovely, warm vibe which feels way better than its snobby sister beach, Bondi. A must visit when in Sydney.

A really beautiful beach to pay a visit to. I came on the Ferry from Circular Quay which just adds to the day in my opinion. You can’t beat a ferry ride on the Sydney Harbour. The walk from the wharf to the beach is great too and there’s several places you can have an ice cream or gelato and you can’t beat the selection of places to have a nice lunch. You can also get takeout and eat at one of many tables along the beach. There’s good toilet facilities also. Just sit and people watch. Definitely a spot to visit in Sydney.

Taking a ferry to Manly is a delightful way to travel, and there's a special vibe to Manly's beaches in early autumn.
Next to the swimming pool at the northern end of the beach, you can climb up a small cliff. At the very top, there's a small cave ,which is a minor attraction. It's not particularly magical, but worth checking out.

Manly Beach is a popular destination known for its beautiful beaches, great surf, and lively atmosphere. However, on my recent visit, I noticed that the town itself was a bit dirty and littered in some areas. Despite this, the beach itself was clean and the water was clear and inviting. The promenade is a great spot for a walk or a run, and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. The surf was great and the people were friendly and welcoming. Overall, I still enjoyed my time at Manly Beach but it would be better if the town is kept cleaner for the visitors.

Manly is just as good, but Bondi gets all the praise and recognition. I rode the quick ferry to the harbour. Manly has a fairly laid-back atmosphere. When I went in May, the weather was chilly and windy, but it didn't stop hundreds of people from going to the beach. There are numerous restaurants and pubs in the area, all of which are hip and modern.

For me the most beautiful beach in the Sydney area. The broad promenade with the iconic pines und the beach with a surf school and many beach volleyball fields are perfect for sports or relaxing. The wooden pavilions are signs of Manly beach history as the place to be for the 1900s high society. Manly beach is my absolute favorite also in comparison to Bondi beach.

We went for the sunrise kayaking experience at 6am. Such a beautiful experience. Stu was an excellent instructor and took many pics of our adventures for all of us. Saw stingrays and jellyfishes on our way. We also went for a mini hike up to Pride rock. As a non-swimmer and a beginner, I was apprehensive for kayaking. Our family took a visiting work colleague from overseas on the 9-12 tour and it was a most enjoyable morning. Even though I've lived in Sydney my whole life, this was a perspective I've never had before. Enjoying a quiet, empty, picturesque beach and bush track like that, you'd think you were miles from anywhere. The views at the top were as beautiful as any in the world. Our children are 7 and 10, and if you're taking children, you can expect they will help paddle intermittently and take breaks, so it'd be good if they are with an adult capable of doing the majority of the work. Our guest enjoyed the experience very much, as did we all. Thanks to our guide, Stu!

Australian Reptile Park

Wildlife park
Popular zoo with many species of reptiles, free-roaming kangaroos, shows & hands-on experiences.
It's a good place to see and know about Australian native animals. All the tasks are great giving his info about the animals.
From planning your day perspective you can visit in the morning and go with each talk or other option to visit in the afternoon as all the talks repeat in the second half. You can finish everything in half a day.
Better to carry food as the cafe gets busy during weekend lunch hours. There is wheelchair access everywhere and they had maintained the toilets well. Alligator and crocodile talks were the best for me. The play area for kids is good too.

We stopped by the Reptile park on the way back to Sydney from Hunter Valley and boy were happy we did the the stop by! Kids simply loved to see so many reptiles, Snakes, Alligator, Turtles, Lizards and many more. Also, the shows were entertaining and informative.
Tips:
- Reach early like by 10am. There are regular shows every 30 min and they are fun and educational as the host explains you everything in detail.
- For photos, would suggest to take package where you can take photos with all four, Python, Alligator, Koala and Owl. Since they allow all family members to be in photo it turns out to be cheaper and fun.

We love regularly visiting the Reptile Park with our young kids. We have annual passes otherwise I think it's too expensive for a single visit as we don't tend to stay that long! Our favourite things there are patting the free roaming kangaroos, looking for koalas, the platypus, turtles and alligators and watching the reptile show. The playground if fun too! My kids are too scared of the reptile and spider exhibits as it's dark with scary noises.
It's super quiet during the week when it's not school holidays (unless you are there at the same time as a school group or tourist bus!)
We always bring our picnic to save buying food there, but their chips are good. The staff are always super friendly too and the animals look well looked-after.

This is a great place. On top of the entrance fee, we payed for a pass to hold a Python, a baby alligator, baby Tasmanian Devils & pat a Koala plus have our photos taken with them. That made the visit worthwhile.
When we went, the kangaroo enclosure was closed due to maintenance.
It was a decent price compared with other zoo prices. We brought tickets online.

Knowing of my interest in wildlife, Australian friends that I was visiting recommended a visit to the Australian Reptile Park. After viewing the options, we decided on taking the "Behind the Scenes" tour as well as a non-guided tour of the park.
First, I'll say the reptile park wasn't just reptiles, but a collection of animals of all types unique to Australia, even some non-native species. Wallabies, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, koalas, platypuses, wombats, etc. in well-designed cages complimented the turtles, snakes, lizards, spiders, etc. on display. The park is well laid out and a map is furnished even though it is easy to navigate from exhibit to exhibit.
The self-paced, self-guided tour allowing us to get fairly close to these unique animals was fascinating enough to more than justify the admission charge. The Behind the Scenes tour was expensive, but also well worth the price. In a group of 4, we saw one of Australia's very poisonous snakes and a deadly spider milked, fed alligators and a cassowary, held a non- poisonous snake and lizards, and stroked a little koala's fur. The guide who accompanied us was an encyclopedia of knowledge about every creature we saw, as well as being very as being very personable and considerate. (I'm a slow walker due to arthritis.)
This visit was absolutely the highlight of my stay in Australia. A visit to the park is recommended for anyone who would like to see a snapshot of Australia's unique, amazing wild life in a well designed, comfortable environment. The Behind the Scenes tour is an amazing opportunity to actually interact with some of the animals and to learn about the park's anti-venom program for poisonous snake and spider bites.

Great experience at the reptile park, there was a good picnic area and playground with shade and amazing range of wildlife such as birds, frogs, lizards, alligator, crocodile, koala, wallaby and many more. My favourite was seeing the frogs, they looked so beautiful with their gem like, metallic colouring. It had a forest like area and well maintained with wheelchair friendly paths. The Australian Reptile Park was a great experience for our little one. It’s a great way to spend the day together as a family.
A number of animals form a part of the park including crocodiles, platypus, Koalas, Wallaby, Monitor lizards, Snakes etc. However, I did feel that the enclosures for some of the animals were smaller than expected and hopefully the reptile park will provide larger spaces for these wild animals.
If you are planning to visit, it’s better to pack a picnic than buy from the snack shop as most of the food items are expensive.
However, it was a good day visit from Sydney and provided a lot of insights into the world of reptiles.
Terrigal Beach is a popular city beach known for its calm surf conditions, making it perfect for swimming, boating, and scuba diving. The picturesque cove is surrounded by a boardwalk that leads to Terrigal Lagoon and Wamberal Beach on one side and Terrigal Haven on the other. The area is bustling with boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants that cater to visitors looking for a relaxing day in the sunshine.
Awesome beach... with cool atmosphere, highly recommended for a relaxing, can have sea baths, parking available, many restaurants to have foods. Crowded, but not in beach.

One of the best beaches on the Central Coast of NSW— gorgeous clear water clean powder-like sand with a blue sky canopy surrounded by green hills!
There’s plenty of Cafes, restaurants hotels that serve fine dining and or fast food.
Very popular location with friendly atmosphere, great for families, couples for romances or family get togethers.
We have enjoyed coffee & seafood lunch at most of the eateries in Terrigal — all delicious and prices to suit your budget.
Parking can be challenging on public holidays but drive around and you’ll eventually snag a parking spot especially in the Haven.
Terrigal Skillon has impressive views of wamberal and Avoca beach.
We learned scuba diving in Terrigal Haven.
Terrigal is hard to beat- recommended!

Hands down one of the best beaches in Central coast. It has amazing cafes and I enjoyed seeing people surf. Good place for dog walking. It however is crowded on weekends.
Eric Gromberger — Google review
In a land full of beaches, I confess this is my favourite (but there is so much more to discover). The beach is close to a community park, lots of local coffee shops and restaurants. This all comes at a cost, as development is making this popular community over crowded with weekenders from the surrounding towns (or cities). The beach offered small waves for the novice surfer, and fine golden sand for the casual sun bather. There were plenty of dogs running around as well. Lots of activities at this beach for everyone.

Lovely Fish n Chips lunch @ the Terrigal Beach Fish n Chips shop.
Love the Fish n chips here; has been a favourite of the family for years; fish fresh n tasty always n batter just as light n not oily😋👌 very reasonably priced compared to Sydney prices…
Always polite courteous n efficient service.
Bonus! Remember to order the Seniors F n C if you qualify!!😁😜

Terrigal Beach was amazing, nice water and awesome waves. Some negatives are that it is quite hard to find parking, lot of people and the toilets were quite small. Otherwise, it is quite nice and you will have a very enjoyable time.

This is a good place for Pelican feeding. Very good for kids. Good park, rides, fountain and much more. I went there couple of years ago. Beautiful view and crystal clear water. For me, it is one time must visit place, but I will not go the next time.

We had a chance encounter with the pelicans and then waited around for a show entailing a brief history about pelicans followed by bird feeding. This actually happens everyday at 3:30 and anyone can watch it for free. Was lovely watching the birds.

I was too early for the pelican feeding. I've witnessed the pelican feeding previously. It is an event, entertaining and educational. Please go and witness it.
For those early risers watching the sunset as I did this morning, at the pelican feeding theatre precinct, it is so calming and peaceful as you move into a new day. So much fun for family's in the area.

If I have a chance I will go again. It starts 3:30 pm every day. They are cute and smart. The nonprofit organization is the organizer of this even and the do really well. They get donation from people and protect pelicans. The funny part of the show was that the volunteer lady knows the name of the pelicans!!
The place is a good location for kids and families and tourists.

The tour is well worth the admission. Very interesting building providing great views at the top. Our guide was very well informed and was able to answer our questions.
One note for other visitors - get your tickets at the top in the gift 'stable' as you can't buy them at the lighthouse itself and you will have to walk all the way back to the start to get them.

Such a beautiful place to visit. It's an easy walk from the parking to the lighthouse and then down the steps to the rocky shore. There are little pockets of water so the kids can splash around. Absolutely gorgeous.
There is a cafe nearby so grab a coffee and enjoy the views.

Norah Head Lighthouse, a picturesque destination just a brief drive from Sydney, offers a delightful blend of historical significance and breathtaking vistas. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a team of dedicated volunteers, including a gentleman whose wealth of knowledge about the lighthouse and its surroundings added a personal touch to the experience. He regaled us with tales of his impressive feat of ascending the lighthouse eight times in a single day, a testament to his passion for the site.
Ascending to the apex of the lighthouse rewarded me with unparalleled panoramic views, showcasing the azure expanse of the Pacific Ocean juxtaposed against the rugged coastline. From this elevated vantage point, The Entrance revealed itself as a charming enclave, beckoning visitors with its idyllic beaches and vibrant atmosphere.
Norah Head Lighthouse transcends mere tourist attraction status; it stands as a living testament to history, meticulously preserved by a dedicated team of individuals. For travelers venturing to The Entrance, a visit to this iconic landmark is indispensable. Prepare to be enthralled by its beauty and enriched by its storied past.

A great landmark to visit, when we were visiting a rainbow just appeared on the ocean. Parking was sufficient at the time but when the weather is good or when it's summer you might struggle to find a spot. Most spots seemed to be taken up by people fishing off the rocks below as it wasn't that busy at the lighthouse itself.
Arnie Thoma — Google review
Great photo taking location with lighthouse, headland, ocean views, beautiful sunset and sunrise spot, car parking nearby and a nice comfortable walk to the points of interest.
There are paid lighthouse tours if you wish to go inside the lighthouse.
Malcolm Kirwan — Google review
Beautiful and serene spot to listen to the waves from the top and then go down to the beach to watch the waves spurting out from between the flat rocks. The tour allows you to go to the top of the lighthouse and gives you an interesting perspective about how things used to be done in the lighthouse more than 100 years ago. Geoff was a fantastic tour guide. Tip: book accommodation at the rustic lighthouse keeper cottage for an overnight stay to take in the experience. Avoid wedding/ band days for the stays

This is no doubt a best highlight of our trip to Central Coast. It's a perfect place to chill out.
We went once and then went back again the next day. The following day was more of a picnic to enjoy the rock pool and beach and enjoy the coastal and rock walk.
This place has a number of benches to enjoy the meal. I must say benches were spotless cleaned.
The place was nice busy with ample parking spaces. No booking is required as this place is walk-in for public.
Light house is mesmerising. I used to use it as a navigation way point during my sea time onboard commercial and passenger ships.
The place gives you a very warm feeling inside which only sailor can understand.
Love this place ❤️.

We came here at night, after driving pass and seeing the huge beams of light passing by. The lighthouse was a beauty to look at, and it was amazing to see it in action at night, illuminating the majority of the beach. We were also able to see the lights of the ships in the distance, and saw some lovely scenery of the beaches below. They had guided tours for the inside of the lighthouse, which we didn't go, but it looked interesting. I would recommend going at night to see it in action, and we enjoyed the history lessons on plaques. Loved the experience!

So damn relaxing place.
Couldnt go inside the lighthouse as it closes always around 3:00 pm and we reached late.
But the place was worth it to make good memories.
Below the lighthouse, just a 5 min walk you can go near the sea and enjoy the view of the beautiful ocean.
I will visit this place again next time.

Caves Beach is a region situated on the Swansea peninsula, located between Lake Macquarie and the Pacific Ocean in Greater Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Lake Macquarie local government area. The name 'Caves Beach' has been given to this locality owing to a substantial amount of caves present along its shoreline.
The Blackbutt Nature Reserve is a 182 hectare reserve in the suburbs of Newcastle, Australia that features walking trails, playgrounds and picnic shelters with free electric barbecues. The main attraction at the reserve are the animals living there, including koalas, emus, wallabies, wombats and peacocks. The boardwalks make it easy to take kids on walks around the enclosures and see these animals up close.
We’re big native animal fans and this is a great, free park with great access to native animals. There’s paid parking but access to the park is free.
We loved the emus, wombats, kangaroos and bird exhibits. The staff are friendly and there’s a great picnic and grass area with barbecues and play equipment to bring the family. We spent about an hour there and would recommend it to anyone in or visiting Newcastle.

Beautiful place unfortunately no regulations, so lots of screaming kids disturbing the poor animals. Would love to see more signs or see parents teach their kids to be quiet. A few of these animals are nocturnal... Do better! Worth a visit regardless.

Lovely place for kids to see and enjoy Aussie animals. Plenty to do and see, could be an all day activity, if you bring a picnic lunch or cook a bbq. Busy on weekends, but quiet during the week. There is a playground there too. The boardwalk where you can view the animals opens at 10am. It’s $13 per day for parking (or $4 per hour).

No entry fee, car park $8 for 2 hours. Absolutely loved it, it wasn't too busy being a week day and we took our time in every single enclosure. Animals seem very well looked after. My favourite was the wombat with the bonus of seeing them first outside eating and then at the end of the tour in their "tunnels" sleeping! Great experience, would definitely recommend.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a free native wildlife display. The birds were amazing and were so close. The peacocks were particularly enjoyable. We've never seen such big ones! They were not afraid to come quite close to us and put on a lovely display of their feathers. We wished we could have gone on a longer walk as they looked good but my father was not feeling well. They have very good toilet facilities, the kiosk was open until 3pm and the lady who runs it I'd very friendly. Would love to go back

Good place to take the whole family with play ground, walking trails, electric barbecues, park benches and tables, paid under cover shelter and even a kiosk (closed when we visited on a Tuesday). Nicely maintained and kept clean. Entry is free but there are parking metres out in the parking lot with minum fee of $5. There's a duck pond located just after the well maintained lawn near the entrance with peacocks and wild turkeys roaming the grounds even out in the car park area. In the enclosed animal enclosures there are wallabies, kangaroos and emus.

The last time I had been here was close to a decade ago. The amount of effort put in to upgrade the facilities and cleanup the water quality in the main pond is phenomenal. Highly recommend this place for eating a takeaway lunch or just quiet contemplation during the week. Not so quiet on weekends or holidays.

What a huge and wonderful place for family barbecues and picnics and areas to play.
The animal enclosure was such a surprise...
Sadly, we were let down by the absence and clarity of signage for walking. We would come to the t junction and sign showing 2 directions not 3 and placed in a funny spot.
We have hiked many parks and we were dismayed to get lost at this one and walked right outside onto the main road to get back to our car.

Came across this wonderful reserve today and so glad we did. It's beautifully maintained, with many walking tracks, sheltered seating areas, alongside BBQ areas, clean restrooms & various shelters that you can book in advance. The well constructed walkways take you amongst the trees, where you can see an amazing variety of animals. At the pond, we stopped and were thrilled to see many tortoises, trying to camouflage themselves amongst the underwater habitat. There is also a well constructed playground with lots of tactile activities for the kids.
A perfect spot for the whole family! 🙂🙂🙂

A wonderful place to visit. Beautiful scenery, wildlife and overall facilities. The only issue is paid parking which at $4 an hour is pretty pricey. As well as that the meters don't work. So unless you're prepared to put another app on your phone, it's a problem. Ok so I'm a Little bit tainted because when our kids were young it was always free to come here and I have many happy memories from those years. Difficult for people struggling with the current cost of living issues to now bring kids out for some fun and adventure in the bush when Newcastle Council is money grabbing with metered parking.

I had the privilege of visiting the "New Castle Memorial Walk" in NSW, Australia, and it left a profound impression. The breathtaking coastal views from this soaring bridge were absolutely captivating, providing a poignant backdrop to the memorial's significance. The walk itself is a testament to the region's rich history and the sacrifices of those who served. The well-maintained pathway, informative plaques, and serene ambiance made it a moving and educational experience. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of natural beauty, history, and reflection, and it stands as a poignant tribute to the past.
Madan Kumar Adhikari — Google review
Nice walk with photos and information on the Anzac memorial. I did the entire coastal walk from Nobbys Lighthouse down to Merewether beach - most of the walk has fantastic views, similar to most other coastal walks on the NSW coast. Highly recommend this walk.

Newcastle Memorial Walk is a poignant journey that seamlessly weaves together natural beauty and historical reflection. As you ascend the elevated path along the coastline, the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean unfold, creating a serene backdrop that complements the solemn purpose of the walk.
The memorial plaques that line the pathway serve as poignant reminders of the sacrifices made by Australian soldiers in various conflicts. Each plaque tells a unique story, contributing to the collective narrative of bravery and commitment to duty. The juxtaposition of the serene coastal landscape with the weight of history creates a contemplative atmosphere, inviting visitors to reflect on the profound impact of war.
The architectural design of the walk is not only functional but also harmonizes with the rugged coastal environment. It's a thoughtful integration that enhances the overall experience, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in both nature and history. Sunset transforms the scene, casting a warm glow on the ocean and adding an extra layer of beauty to this already significant memorial.
Whether you're seeking a peaceful stroll, a connection to history, or simply a moment of reflection, the Newcastle Memorial Walk offers a multifaceted experience that resonates with locals and visitors alike. It stands as a living tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who have served, set against the backdrop of Newcastle's stunning coastal vistas.

Located in Newcastle, the Fort Scratchley Museum houses a collection of military history exhibits, including tunnels that take visitors underground to see the fort's artillery and battlements. The museum also features daily cannon firings and regular tours of the grounds.
Beautiful and historic places by the Newcastle coast. Well kept and maintained by the veterans and gives us a nice peep into the history of the area and the fort's significance in maintaining security. The highlight is the cannon firing at the stroke of 1 pm.

I recently visited Fort Scratchley in Newcastle and it definitely did not disappoint. It's a fantastic place to explore and learn about Australia's rich military history. The museum was very impressive, with lots of interesting exhibits and photographs of the past. The fort itself was fascinating to explore, with its turrets, fixed defences and artillery pieces from the 1880s era. It was an educational and enjoyable experience, and I would highly recommend visiting Fort Scratchley to anyone with an interest in Australian military history.

What an absolutely amazing historic place! Must see when in Newcastle! Free to enter the grounds and walk around self-guided but I highly recommend the Tunnels Tour. Around $10 for just over an hour tour. You go down and explore the gun tunnels up to 8m under the ground. It is fairly flat walking but it's a solid hour with really no seating so keep in mind your walking/standing ability. There was a lady with a walking stick and she managed. Also highly recommend being there for 1pm cannon clock firing. I would allow an easy 2.5hrs+ to explore and tour.
Deb Crompton — Google review
A wonderful historic site filled with local history. You can either take a free self guided tour or pay for the tunnel tour like we did and be taken underground by a friendly and knowledgeable guide who will talk about the guns on the site as well as share first hand experience of life at the time. A must for any local and a perfect activity for any tourist. It's easily accessible too from the Light Rail or there is ample onsite parking.

Wonderfully looked after by a dedicated historical society. Tours run several times a day in a set timetable. They go for 60-90 minutes. The chap who took us through was very knowledgeable and made the experience very pleasant and interesting, would highly recommend the tour. The cannon firing is most days at 1pm except when the weather stops them.
Entry is free to the fort and all the display rooms and bits and pieces. To see in the tunnels inside the fort is paid, not all that expensive. A fellow who was in the military had the tour for free as far as I can tell so if you are a service person they must let you in for free.
While there are toilets on site, once you are on the tour you are toilet less for the duration
Although I'm sure they would let you out if you asked

Fort Scratchley shares a fantastic wealth of historic treasures! We did the tour with Wayne and he was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable, passionate and friendly. We got to see the 1pm gun firing, which was very cool! Watching the gun firing is free and the tour is cheap, no need to buy tickets online, but maybe check the tour times. We paid for the tour on the day of and we already knew the time so there was no wait at all! We will definitely be back on one of the dates where they fire more guns. There are heaps of displays and some really unique stuff in the store. All of the staff were super nice, making jokes and just seemed to be really fun people. The views of the surrounding areas and ocean are beautiful too. The fort is awesome and the people make it fun! Highly recommend!!

This Fort is well worth a visit when travelling to Newcastle. There is an underground tour the takes about an hour. The tour concentrates on the armaments and guns that would have been used in the event of enemy attack. None of the guns had ever been used in anger or in difference. The fortification took 18 months to compete. A very big Job with not a lot of machinery available. Be aware that this venue is opened at 10..00am and closes at 04.00pm.
The views from the top are awesome!!!!!

Brilliant, although you used to be able to wonder through the tunnels on your own, but now you have to pay for a tour.. Although the tour was informative and fun, so I don't regret that at all..
Also, you can no longer walk through the trenches above ground.. Which is a shame.

A brilliant way to spend the morning in Newcastle. We visited with 3 kids aged between 6 and 14 and they were all totally enthralled. I would highly recommend the tour of the tunnels and the fort which goes for about 90 minutes. There are also parts of the fort that you can explore by yourself. Make sure to be there at 1pm for the firing of the cannon. The gift shop has some nifty little gifts and memorabilia.

This spot is definitely a highlight. I was greeted by an older gentleman who has worked there for 31 years. He explained everything to me in detail. I was very grateful for his meet and greet and enjoyed this beautiful place afterwards! A must do in Newcastle. Also for whale and dolphin watching.

One of the best historical attractions in the country 1 pm the fire the gun for the harbour based ships to sink time. Volunteers are just so helpful. The grounds are perfect views spectacular and the history is just so well preserved. The shop is limited though not many souvenirs and no warm food not even a pie. But the place it self makes up for that. A most visit and a credit to the people of Newcastle. Well done the volunteers.

I had been wanting to visit Fort Scratchley, I finally did and had an amazing time there. The place has great views, military uniform displays, weapon displays and a great spot to whale watch.
The spot next to the guns gives you almost a 360 view of the city as well as of the lighthouse, nobby's beach and the Newcastle beach.
Place is free to visit, no tickets required. Although the tour of the underground tunnels would require a ticket.
There are toilets available as well.
There is free parking available. The guards are also very accommodating and helpful.

Lovely place with free entrance, great view over the ocean with the chance of spotting some whales.
Also a great view over the beach.
The Fort itself is well maintained, informative display of the history of the area in WWII and the event of firing on a Japanese submarine.
It also has a souvenir shop where you can buy... well... some souvenirs ;-)

Historical part of Newcastle History and well looked after in the hands of the passionate volunteers. The ability to walk the grounds by tour or solo and have an underground tunnel tour means the new generations will come to appreciate the significance of this site. Cold drinks available at the kiosk.
The views of the Harbour are worth the hill climb. Limited parking on site.

I went up on ANZAC day and they did the cannon shooting during the day.
It was a very interesting and if you like history, then be sure to go inside the tunnels.
There's also great panaromic views of Nobby's Beach and views. Definitely a must see attraction when you're up here.

Build in the early 1880s to protect the industrial port of the city soon it became one important defense structure throughout the upcoming major world conflicts like World War II. The entrance is free. You will get to know the history of the Fort by visiting 6 rooms which will take you on a journey from pre- European times to the current day. There are guided tours to the tunnels and you can purchased the tickets at the gift shop. Every day at 1 pm you will get to see a World War I canon being fired. Breathtaking views of the city. Toilets , food and beverage available at the place. The staff is super friendly and helpful.

Took the tunnels tour, Ross was very informative and polite. We turned up just as the tour was going to start at 11:30am and then in time for the firing of the mini cannon demonstration at 1pm.
Great stop, even if you do not take the tour. The view from the top is great, overlooking the beach.
Parking is limited, may have to park further by the beach and walk up, toilets available.

Lovely place to visit. Free entry. Great display items.
We took the tunnel tour, which was only $13.50 per adult. I highly recommend doing this. Our tour guide was lovely and so informative.
Also, amazing views and whale watching spot.
Regards to the volunteers who keep it going for people to see.

I love this place where I learnt more about the purpose of this fort, the war that occurred etc.
One can view the lovely beach and the light house on top of the area. There is so much meaningful history that you can learn from this place. Awesome place to visit with the whole family.
The different rooms are great to venture into and discover more.
Truly an enjoyable visit!

Very well done and informative. Tunnels tour was worth it, Wayne was a great tour guide. They also fire the gun at 1pm everyday.

Random glance while driving in bottom end of Maitland main street - cafe was key word.
Then memories from high school days told me that this was old Maitland tech college.
Refurbished and with modernised interior and extensions.
Great cafe. Easy parking areas behind building.

The MRAG is as rich in its display as it is with warm accommodating staff. I was welcomed by Ms Belinda and gave me information about the current exhibits and how to go about my way around the galleries. The collections were all dazzling and amazing. I loved the Portraits the most as well as the miniature displays. I definitely would visit again every time I come to Maitland. Inspiring and entertaining!

MRAG is one of my favourite galleries to visit, and not merely because it's so close to home.
The calibre of exhibition is consistently high, and showcases local and national artists, and the space itself is wonderfully inviting. The knitting of old and new architecture works really well.
The gift shop has plenty to offer, and the cafe, Seraphine's is a great place to replenish and muse.
I love that there are interactive elements that make art, and the gallery experience so much fun for kids. My children, now grown, often return to this family and creative space.

Netty. Was. Here. Spark some creative, cultural inspiration here at the MRAG. Perfect for a rain day; or like me escaping the heatwave.
Currently showcasing the Kungka Kunpu (Strong Women) collection reflects inspirational tales of women supporting each other across generations.
I especially enjoyed looking at the little ones artwork in the interactive art room.
Come ponder over art work and sculptures for a optional donation. Grab the MRAG Program to see what you can anticipate throughout the year.

This has to be one of my all time favourite galleries!
Not only do they have fabulous artists exhibiting, it is very much a “people’s gallery” where you feel so incredibly welcomed as soon as you step in the door.
There are a lot of activities that foster engagement and a great gift shop with beautiful handmade items and interesting books (no mass produced stuff!)
The lovely little cafe with great coffee and friendly staff tops it off nicely!

Amazing place, well worth the visit. Cafe and giftshop are a must too. Free entry.
Guided tours, festivals & a cafe at a storied penitentiary that operated from 1848 to 1998.
Visited Maitland Gaol at around midday on a Sunday. Parking easily out the front. Self guided and guided tours also available. We decided on the self guided tour which was $19 for an adult. Estimated to take around 90 minutes (however it is at your own pace so you may be a little quicker or slower) it took us around 2 hours. There is a phone application you can download which gives you history and information on each point of interest with there being around 24 in total. Overall a great experience and definitely worthwhile making a trip for.

Pretty interesting place to visit. You can use your NSW Discover voucher. The self guided experience is good, you do it on your phone after downloading an app. I enjoyed the visit, but I wish they made the direction of the tour clearer, as I got confused on several occasions. Signposting of the tour direction needs to improve, but this place is certainly worth a visit if you are in Maitland.

This was a mix between serious ghost hunt and theatrical horror house.
The atmosphere at night is amazingly solemn and creepy.
We were told some interesting history on the tour. I wish I had done a little more research into the history before the tour so that I could have put myself into the experience more.
Tanya Chapman — Google review
Great location to visit.
Did a self guided audio tour that can be completed with an app on your phone to do it at your own pace, so much to explore.
Went with a small child and there was enough to keep her entertained for the time we were there.
I would like to see in the future more stories of inmates and general history around on posters like in the chapel.
Ample bathroom facilities throughout, if you are sensitive to mould perhaps bring a mask as it is a little bit mouldy (to be expected in a 150 year old historical building)

We really enjoyed our visit to the gaol and would go back again but take the kids. Using an app you get some great commentary but I'd recommend taking headphones 🎧 !!! so that you can listen in peace without having to have your phone on loud speaker 🔊 . Overall an interesting experience and insight into the world of jails.

I came here years ago to watch a prison movie in the exercise yard but only just recently did a self guided tour. It is done through an app which is easy to navigate, but make sure you bring some earphones. Not sure what those without a smart phone would use if they don't do a guided tour. I would love to go back to do a ghost/night tour. Very cold so make sure to rug up in winter.

After living in the city now for 30 years and passing this historic treasure SO many times, I have finally had a tour. I enjoyed it. Although only a partial tour with many more available, to see the conditions prisoners had to endure, and contributions to Australian and local history is amazing. Local or not, a visit is essential. It is well maintained and operated by our council and friendly and knowledgeable staff

What a waste of money. We did the night tour. Young children crying and wanting to leave. People with torches in your face. Nothing too exciting or interesting. People filming for a paranormal experience with fake noises in the background.

Good old country jail, worth a weekend visit. I took the self guided audio tour, which took me around 2.5 hours to visit all the exhibit areas, listen to all the accompanying tracks and really immerse myself in the whole thing. The entire place is very well maintained and was not too crowded, though a pair of headphones is recommended. While there, I saw one of the guided tours where the tour guide was animatedly explaining the history behind one of the exhibits; I liked her passionate presentation and will definitely book myself in on one of those tours for the next visit. Parking was not an issue and the town itself had quite a few dining options, so overall it was a good day out for the family. The only thing that can be improved a bit is the map they provided for the self guided tour. Even though all the exhibit areas were well marked, following the route sequentially based on the map was pretty challenging, at least to me on my first visit.
Located in the RAAF Base Fighterworld, this museum provides a hands-on experience with some of Australia's most famous fighter jets. The museum also includes a Spitfire replica and Hawker Hunter jet.
We went to fighter world and met some of the most passionate people working there. The exhibits are well maintained and allowed to be viewed close up. We also got very very lucky at 11am where the F35 did an airshow

Excellent displays of Australian fighter jet heritage, including the F-111, F/A-18, Mirage, Meteor and Vampire. The detailed information about aircraft, weapons and systems, including radars, engines and ejection seats go far beyond other static displays, making Fighter World really interesting from a technical perspective. Just don't expect to see an F-35 there (yet)!

Very affordable family activity. Prices in the gift shop also seemed reasonable. It was cool to see some military aviation history from Australia up close and the kids had fun climbing in the cockpits they have on display. We were lucky whilst there the F-35's were training and got a great view from the viewing platform, seeing them land and taxi around.

A great place for anyone that likes aviation or history. It's exactly what it says it is, jets in a hangar. If you go expecting more than that's on you. It's more about soaking up the history than flashy things to do. Has a cafe for a bite to eat and if you're lucky and time it well, can see the planes at the RAAF take off/land. The staff are knowledgeable and lovely.

Walked in and my favourite right there. F111. Great aircraft displays from generations of Australian air power. Really helpful volunteer guides. Best on runway action I've ever seen with 14 F35's and 4 trainer jets all lining up and taking off in spectacular fashion. 1 was a US Marine F35 demonstrating folding wings. Interlaced with commercial aircraft movements. Great value for family ticket. Highly recommend.

Veteran legends work in the museum
At the fighter plane museum, I was greeted by a gentlemen upon entry and later on learnt that he is a Air Force veteran that lived a legendary life just like ‘Top Gun’. If you ask, he has fascinating stories to share about his Air Force days. I could spend all day listening to him talk about him serving the Vietnam War, his role as a flight instructor, the friends he lost in action, and all things related to the planes. The people working in the museum are extremely knowledgeable and respectable. They are the real treasure here.

Fighter world is a fantastic place to bring the kids as well as any aircraft history buffs. It sports a select range of aircraft significant to the RAAF's history including the controversial F111 and model of the CAC Boomerang, important vehicles some other museums try and sweep under the rug.

Fighter World has some absolute legends of the RAAF - highlights are the F-111, F/A-18, Sabre and Mirage. Was great to see the weapons systems outside the Mirage and F/A-18 so you could see how it worked and was maintained. I appreciate seeing interiors components on display as reference for making models. We visited Fighter World during the 2023 air base open day, so the photos I've shared are probably a bit busier than usual!

Fantastic museum with great staff, great little cafe and the opportunity to chat with an ex-fighter pilot was an amazing experience. Also brilliant to have an almost constant air show going on outside with F35’s taking off and landing right in front of the observation deck. Oakvale Wildlife Park is a 25-acre attraction that offers an array of fun activities for all ages. Visitors can interact with animals such as kangaroos and koalas by feeding them. Apart from the wildlife, there are other adventures to explore like tractor rides, reptiles, and birds. Additionally, the water play area is perfect for cooling down on hot days with its big splash bucket suitable for everyone. The park is well-maintained with plenty of green grass and not too dusty.
One of the best places to visit if your in Port Stephens or on your way out as a day trip. It works out perfectly if your check out is 10am as the shows start around 10:45am so plenty of time to make it. The grounds are well looked after and the animals look well cared for. Grab a feed bag or two as this will give you more up close and personal attention from the baby farm animals that roam the park and the kangaroos. There is a couple of camels too, which are very friendly. The splash park is an awesome addition to the park. A great place to cool off after walking around and the kids didn’t want to leave. There is a cafe for snacks and sandwiches but they have no problem with you bringing in a packed lunch. Great value for the day and definitely something we would like to experience again. We were here in February just after the school holidays and the crowds just right. Great park, great staff great experience!! They also accept discover vouchers which is a bonus 👍🏽

Friendly and informative staff, we went on a weekday so it wasn’t too busy or crowded. It’s a medium sized park so there isn’t too much walking to do but there is still plenty of animals to say hello to. The staff seems passionate about the animals and they seem very well taken care of. We even got to hop on the last tractor ride of the day that takes you around the park and the lady who drove the tractor gave plenty of information and facts about the animals as we drove by. You can feed the animals and purchase food for them $2 a bag which is plenty!

It’s a great weekend gateway for the whole family. The best part is kids love to feed animals with their hands and touch them as well. And there is a compact splash 💦 pad for kids. If you forget to bring your own costume, you can buy it from there to instead shop.
Price wise is also reasonable -

Loved this place , absolutely fascinating. I never knew I could have Soo much fun with animals and get all up close and personal with them. I could feed the baby lambs and goats and baby cows and Fully Grown Camels 🐪🐪🐪. There were plenty of wild ducks, wallabys and kangaroos who weren't afraid of humans and were happy to be fed and petted. I also milked the cow and it was amazing. The highlight would probably be the tractor ride which I recommend everyone to do at the start of their trip as it gives a full view of the park and what it has to offer. There were also koalas, snakes, alligators, lizards and all you'd expect Australian fauna to offer. My favourite animal was the CAMEL. They are such confident and dominating creatures who are 100% sure that humans will feed them.

Oakvale Farm is a delightful blend of wildlife sanctuary and children's park. Beyond the interactive experience of patting and feeding animals, the park features diverse play zones, including a water park tailored for kids. Their on-site restaurant offers a variety of both cold and hot dishes, from sandwiches to burgers, all complemented by coffee brewed from Red Parrot Coffee Beans.
An engaging tractor ride offers a cruisy tour around the park. A standout attraction for me was the Southern Cassowary—a truly captivating and unique bird. With ample free parking available, anticipate spending more time here than initially planned. It's an experience both kids and parents are sure to cherish.

Great day out. We drove up from Gosford and it was worth the drive. Staff were all very nice and friendly. The cafe food was reasonably priced. My kids loved bottle feeding the goats. Animals had plenty of space to roam, and seemed happy enough. My kids absolutely loved the splash pad and was great on a 32 degree day. Tractor ride was great. Would definitely recommend. Only downside was some enclosures (koala) etc, had high fences but no little steps or viewing windows for little kids to see them. Apart from that, had a fabulous day and will be coming back for sure.

Too expensive for what it is. This is more like a animal farm than wildlife park. The kids will enjoy the interaction with the farm animals and feeding the lambs. We felt the lamb were left hungry to make sure they come to the people at feeding time. The animals seems to be quite used to interacting with people, so they are pretty safe for the kids to interact with. Overall, not the best value for your buck.

Super easy to get to and plenty of parking. The park itself is well looked after and has plenty of different animals to see and feed. It was really nice to have the experience of feeding larger animals and getting up close to them. They are all very well looked after and have spacious enclosures. We really enjoyed the croc talk and feed time, super interesting to see them in action and learn about different animals.
I would absolutely go back again!
Gan Gan Lookout is a popular viewpoint that provides wide-ranging vistas of Nelson Bay and its surroundings. It can be accessed by car, and the lookout points are conveniently located just 10 meters from where you park. The views from this prominent location are stunning, making it a great spot to take in the beauty of Port Stephens.
View from the top. Nelson bay and Anna bay coastal line view. Let you immerse you in the thought of how beautiful your mother nature is.
Two look outs one on the top of the hill other one being just on the side of the carpark.

The views were great! Seemed to be inundated with bugs resembling horse flies when we were there. Not sure if that was temporary but we didn’t stay long to see if they were going to bite us.

Convenient lookout accessible via car all the way up. Beautiful 180 degrees views from there.

Lovely views from both viewpoints of the north and south. The north side is especially beautiful.
Only downside is the small car park, given how popular it is. Can be a bit hectic when busy!

Nice lookout for getting a good view of most of Port Stephens, but something we'll probably skip next time. We went there on an Easter Weekend and parking was just too problematic. I hope there would be like an overflow parking before the steep and narrow parts of the drive uphill. Just to give an option to those who are willing to go for a longer walk.

Drive up Lily Hill Road to a small car park underneath the radio transmission tower and walk up a small safe concrete path (slightly upslope) to Gan Gan Hill Lookout.

There are some very pretty views to be had here, provided you continue to the top and don't stop after the view by the car park like we almost did! But bear in mind that the viewing area is quite small, as is the car park. Also there's some kind of power station jammed in the middle of the place which certainly harms the aesthetics.

Gan Gan lookout point is awesome. You can see so much of the bay from here. Definitely worth checking out. Only about 10mins from Nelson Bay

Mesmerising panoramic views almost near 360 view recommend to visit during or just before sunset. Parking is very limited probably 10 slots or so. Who loves hiking can walk up the hill but cautious of passing vehicles.

Fantastic lookout you just have to visit. You can see for miles down towards Newcastle. There are 2 viewing platforms so make sure you see both. Most people only look from one not realising there is another one the other side of the phone towers. Both offer the best views. Only a short drive up the mountain

This place will definitely blow your mind with serenity at it's best. You'll get to see desert, mountain, sea, river and greenery at the same time from here. It's one of the best places as well to watch sunset. Love this place. No matter how many times I visit this place, everytime it offers a relaxing environment.

A must visit, offers breathtaking bird view of Port Stephens. Limited parking at the end of the driveway (Bay FM towers). The drive, be careful and slow driving uphill/downhill due to limited paved surface and hairpin blind spot. Lily hill lookout is just on the other side of the parking lot, don’t be fooled by map ;-)
Terry Wang — Google review
Suitable drive for vehicles only not caravans or motorhomes.
A short walk to the 2 viewing areas provide beautiful views.
The are no areas to picnic at this location.

Lovely views, looks so much more beautiful in person than what the pictures show. Definetly should come and check it out if you’re in the area!
Gan Gan Lookout is a hidden gem with panoramic views of Port Stephens. The scenery is absolutely stunning, making it a must-visit spot for nature lovers and photographers. A peaceful escape with breathtaking vistas.

If you want to take sunset photos, this place is amazing. I arrived there at 5.10pm and walked though the small pathway next to electricity towers to the lookout. (There are two lookout points, the one at the parking area can not see sunset, has to walk though the small path. Don't get confused) :)
We love the marina. It really gives our town a lively beating heart with loads of good restaurants on offer as you wander around.
Great place to:
Buy some fresh fish
Go fishing along the breakwater
Let the kids play and run around
Grab the best ice cream in town
Enjoy a meal
Go on an excursion on the water
Have a bbq overlooking the Marina
… or just sit and relax
We watch the NYE fireworks here and the atmosphere is really festive with lots going on. Will do the same next year.

A clean and modern venue with a variety of shops. The shops that are there are OK, but there are a lot of vacant ones, and the restaurants are mostly a bit too fancy for kids to eat at. Parking is a bit expensive, and can be hard to come by, at times. A nice place to sit down and relax, opposite the sail boats.

D'albora Nelson Bay is just a fantastic marina. Not only is it in one of the most beautiful harbours you'd ever want to visit, it has great cafes and restaurants, a good workshop, lift, excellent facilities and very friendly staff.
I had a longer than expected stop due to mechanical issues, and the place quickly felt like home. It was actually a pleasure to be laid up here

Always a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner...plenty of choices..overlooking marina and boats is a great view...good for kids too...safe beach and playground....downside paid parking courtesy Port Stephens Council...

The marina has a nice mix of shops, restaurants and is pleasantly located. Also some cool activities like giant chess.
I would have rated much more highly but I am grumpy about the fish feeding. We saw this a few years ago. It seemed to have stopped on our visit a year ago. We (well, my daughter) were very excited to see signs saying it was back at 10.30 daily. We turned up at 10.29 one day, to see the final scraps of fish thrown in and the feeder walk away as we arrived. The next day, there was just no show. I mean it's free and all, but hard to get your kids excited about an activity only for it to not run as advertised.

Parking available on Laman Street. You can then walk through the park and get to the shops and restaurants. There are bench’s and tables between the west and east buildings. If you go with your friends, and can’t choose which restaurant works for everyone, you can just choose to picnic and everyone can get take away from wherever they want. There are shades and toilets nearby.

Only a gold coin donation the museum is situated in 3 rooms of the lighthouse cottage. One room consists of some local shipping history, one room is about the gun emplacements and ww2 history and the third about the marine rescue history. There is a gift shop and nearby tea rooms as well. Not very many car parks so you might have to be patient.
Shez H — Google review
Have to visit this place beautiful views and good restaurant and a wonderful souvenir shop.
Hosh Gam — Google review
The history contained in the museum is super interesting, but it's not presented in chronological order (or any other discernible order) and thus feels messy and overwhelming. I was excited to get to walk around the keeper's house but was sorely disappointed.
The lighthouse was... Not there? Not sure if I missed something here, but if I did it's because it's poorly laid out and signposted. There is A LOT of emphasis on the gift shop and tea house and little on anything else.
There is limited parking so you may be faced with a hike up the hill or a wait for a space.
Duncan McArdle — Google review

5A Lighthouse Trail, Nelson Bay NSW 2315, Australia
Tomaree Head is a picturesque peninsula that boasts sandy beaches and hiking trails leading up bushy mountains, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean. The hike is moderately challenging, involving some climbing up stairs, but the well-maintained pathway makes it relatively easy. Along the way, hikers can admire about 1 km of lush vegetation on an elevated walkway while taking in stunning vistas of numerous bays and coves from the summit.
Definitely another must visit at Shoal Bay, in addition to the summit walk. It’s an easy flat walk with ocean breeze and access to the WWII torpedo emplacement & six inch gun emplacement, just be careful navigating through the rocks.
Terry Wang — Google review
About 1 km of very scenic vegetation, elevated walk away. Moderate ability. Some climbing up the stairs. The views were awesome. You can see many bays and coves from the summit. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in this area.
I Q — Google review
Gorgeous short 1km hike to the summit, beautiful 360 views at the top. Lots of stairs near the top, there are a few options to choose a paved path or traditional hiking path. These can be down in sneakers or even summer sandals if you didn’t pack hiking boots. It took me 12 minutes to get to the top, only stopping twice for a quick picture.

Well it's quite a walk up the hill but I took some water and got up to the top and wow what have you if you make the trip up the mountain it is well worth it lot of spots it's quite easy the pathway is a lot better than what it used to be they spend a bit of time fixing up the path I do recommend going up the hill if you have the time the views are excellent from mwh

Myall Lakes National Park is a picturesque area with an abundance of natural beauty and outdoor activities to explore. The park boasts waterfront terrain for fishing, camping, and hiking. Additionally, visitors can experience the historic lighthouse along with its charming cottages. Although access may be limited due to the booking system, it remains a coveted destination due to its stunning beaches and abundant wildlife.
Very clean and well space camping areas, we stayed at Dee's Corner and some of the site away from the road have great shade and are all very close to the lake, water is brackish but clean and clean. Sandy bottom made it easy to walk about.
There is a walking track to the surf beach directly opposite the camp ground, with a pretty easy walk to the beach.
There is 4wd access to the beach there too but you do need a permit.
We had a very enjoyable stay.

Wonderful bush camping spots in Mungo Brush campground, near the water ( where you can see sunsets over the lake)and right next to a section of rainforest, home to 1000's of fruit bats.
Incredible birdwatching as well, including the glorious black and gold regent bowerbird.

Great park - there are camping fees and park entry fees but it's well worth it for the facilities and how beautiful this park is. Bring you're own firewood if there isn't a ban and keep your eye out for dingoes and goannas.
Billabong Zoo Koala & Wildlife Park is a popular tourist spot that offers visitors the opportunity to view, feed, and interact with an array of native and exotic animals. The zoo also features playgrounds and picnic areas for families to enjoy. Despite not being a large zoo, visitors can easily spend roughly six hours there indulging in animal encounters - which are said to be brilliant.
Billabong zoo and wildlife park is beautiful, the lay out of the zoo is very easy to get around...
It's very neat and tidy, all the animals look fantastic...
The only thing missing was eastern grey kangaroos , all staff where friendly and helpful.

Billabong Zoo was a pleasant visit. The Zoo is obviously well cared for and despite being on the small side obviously is well loved. The Gardens are beautiful and must take a lot of work to be cared for.
Obviously all private zoos struggle for money and this is evident at Billabong Zoo as some of the Aviary’s are quite outdated and the encounters basic, would love to see more of a focus on providing unique encounters and more in-depth talks from the Keepers.
Government grant for this Zoo would go a long way I’m sure! Will be very keen to revisit when the night zoo becomes available if well executed.

Absolutely loved the zoo. The wombat enclosure rocks as you can see them in their natural habitat. Shame that the big cats were out of sight but that happens. The raptors were awesome, one of my favourites and of course the little penguins put on a show for us thanks you're amazing

The zoo is a great cost effective day out for the family. The kids park is great as you can burn the little one’s energy off. Just a few things to note, we noticed that the front reception man was lovely to deal with, however it’s evident that he isn’t big on kids as they touch all the toys for sale. His way of expressing to them not to touch should be assessed. Maybe going over and engaging with them he would get a better outcome from them. The front entrance has an entry and an exit only sign but people just head to the exit to enter and it was causing unnecessary communication from the staff to the customer. We think a small gate at the exit that only opens one way would fix that issue for them. The food was great at the cafe. There seems to be a bit of chef verses front of house attitude, the chef seemed to use her position over the juniors. We requested some tartare sauce, we were told $2.50. Now we don’t mind paying for anything but given all we needed was a little bit it was a bit hefty since we just paid $180 in food and drinks. We didn’t even use enough to make it lower than the rim of the ramekin we were supplied. May we suggest that you offer a small portion of sauce or if people would like to pay for a large portion for $2.50. Or ask the customer at the counter if they would like any sauces with the salt and pepper squid? We had the beef brisket burger it was delicious. The onion rings were yummy also. We will be back.

This is a small little zoo in port macquarie, nsw. The zoo is not very big, and it doesn't have alot of animals attraction like other big zoo. But its not too bad, and they do have alot of koalas and kangaroos. I think, I'm sure the kids would love it. But If you happen to be there with your kids and family, be sure to check out the zoo.

Great place to take your time and wander around freely. Had some good fun with some of the bird enclosures that talk back to you! Didn't get to see the crocodile or the Lion, and most of the kangaroos were already well fed by the afternoon. Recommend attending earlier than mid afternoon as the sun was behind most of the animals and made it difficult to see some of them through the glass.

Billabong Zoo Mothers Day Meerkat experience. My girls bought me a Meerkat encounter for Mothers Day. Wow..... they are so cute and adorable. Great experience, just not long enough. Billabong Zoo itself was great.

Great zoo. Medium-sized but has a wide variety of animals, including non-indigenous ones. Staff give regular talks on certain animals - these are very interesting and educational. The animals are clearly well treated and the staff are very knowledgeable and caring about them.
Highlight: personally feeding the kangaroos and wallabies.

Really enjoyed our time here! All up spent roughly 6 hours even though it’s not necessarily a huge zoo. I was lucky enough to do 4 of the animal encounters and they were brilliant. The crowd wasn’t too busy which was perfect (I can’t imagine peak holiday times would be too enjoyable). The vibe from the staff was pretty happy, chill and friendly - I really liked it.
There were a few news areas being built and some things not running which makes sense given Covid but still an awesome time.

Very good zoo, staff takes good care of the animals and has a lot of patience doing their duties. The zoo is clean. (It was hard finding hand sanitisers around the kangaroo's feeding area, but it was pretty hectic on that day) Zoo is kids friendly and family friendly. Overall, we had fun there

This has been our favourite zoo experience in Australia so far! On our first visit, we paid for the red panda experience and definitely do not regret it, the red pandas were so gentle and you can tell they were greatly looked after.

Amazing and most hospitable employees. Shout out to Lionel from reception, Brooke and Mark from Snow Leopard enclosure.
Kangaroo feed can be purchased at three packs for $5. Kangaroos will actively hop to you for the snack!
Animals look healthy, happy and lively - a rare sight in many zoos where animals are usually asleep/looked bored/looked sad.
There are multiple animal talks from morning till about 230pm. Be sure to be there early. Keepers are extremely knowledgeable and are more than happy to answer your questions.
10/10 recommend. No regrets visiting. Went on a weekday with absolutely no crowd, such an enjoyable and peaceful visit. You can purchase tickets in advance or do walk ins.

The Tacking Point Lighthouse is an iconic white cement lighthouse with a keeper's cottage on a rocky headland on the Australian coast. Built in 1879, it is one of Australia's oldest lighthouses and one of its most popular tourist destinations. The air-conditioned accommodation includes a patio with garden views and private parking available on site.
Great spot for overnight parking/camping on car, waking up to see the sunrise straightaway. Nice view for hiking/exercises. Saw lots of people surfing near the beach. Nice Milky Way viewing at night, no light pollution. Good view and landscape for both scenic and portrait photography shots. Lots of birds flying around for spotting.

Historic lighthouse with amazing views. South you can see all the way to Dunbogan including the large mountain called North Brother. Really loved this place, would take a good 2 hours to go round the Sea acres rainforest, the fact that you would get to see some very unique trees, and very old one at that is quite stunning. The board walk is circular and you would live close to pure nature and breath absolutely unspoiled air while being inside. Easy walk and refreshing air with a few wild animals to spot, nice but average view of rainforest. Very short route which is a bit overpriced, they even charge $1 for one paper map after paying for tickets already. Still recommend to have a walk here, but the pricing can be fixed better.
Guapi He — Google review
A lovely short walk on high boardwalks. Well constructed. Gives a fantastic view of rainforest. We didn't see many animals but loved just being in nature and seeing the different trees.
Katie Hughes — Google review
We loved it, enjoyed our time by walking around, captured a blue tongue lizard, a turkey and a goanna.
BUT be aware that they charge $1 for one piece of paper map/ a short introduction of animals, or at least inform customers that it cost $1 before we pay as it’s usually included in the ticket price. To be honest, this $1 paper map selling strategy sucks as people usually don’t mind to pay that $1 if it’s included in the ticket not after paid for the ticket and get charged another $1 for the paper map. Receptionist don’t inform customer either, this is quite rude.

During our visit to Port Macquarie we visited this place. Such a peaceful place. I would love to go back again.
During our walk we got to meet Beautiful volunteer Mary Curtis who is an expertise about rainforest. We are soo glad we got to meet her and chat about the rainforest.
Such a beautiful walk inside the rainforest. So much to learn and see about different flora and fauna. Takes 30-40mins Max to finish. Free entry and plenty of free parking outside the centre.
Wish to come back soon 💜

Lovely place, we didn't see any animals however we were lucky enough to see a powerful owl which was amazing 😊

It was really busy but the staff were lovely and we enjoyed the nice gift shop. The walk itself is only 1.3kms but we really took our time so stayed out an hour, I am sure others can do it in half that. Everything looked a little dry in the forest but lots of places are suffering the same fate. Would recommend if you like nature, but its not a zoo so wildlife is hit and miss

Beautiful scones and coffee and lots of gift ideas , also looking into the rainforest while drinking your coffee!

It's been 20 years since our last visit. The location hasn't changed very much. I had my first chai latte 20 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, I had another this visit and was pleasantly surprised that they were as good then and it was now..

Always a lovely experience here. The boardwalk is great- something new to see each time you visit. On this visit, desk staff pointed out two roosting powerful owls at walk marker 78-79. Our first time seeing them! The cafe and gift shop are also great! I purchased some stuffed animals for my grandchildren and we had some takeaway treats from the cafe: apple pie, strawberry tart, and GF rhubarb muffin(favorite).

Cute walk in the rainforest 🍃The place is modern and well maintained. The walk is super easy and very interesting to see all the different trees etc.

This is presented as a 3 star experience. Great; include this in your visit.
Easy accessibility, including wheelchairs and prams. Reasonable price. Neat store and cafe.
Easy grades on the boardwalk. Good interpretation. 1.4 km. Guided tours available; extended walks along the coast too.
Clean toilets.
This is a national park, no dogs.

Picking your own strawberries, such a fun activity. You get to pick exactly what you want... Want strawberries to eat today? Go for the super red ones. Want some to take back home and eat in a few days time? Get some that are less ripe. A great activity for kids and adults. There is also a cafe here (the scones with strawberry jam are highly recommended) and a store to buy preserves, sauces, chocolate, jams, pickles and other produce, including fresh vine ripened tomatoes.

Definitely worth a visit to pick cherries, tomatoes and have an amazing breakfast in their cafe. They serve lovely scones with a variety . Our little one had a great experience collecting the strawberries. It is safe and very accessible place. We even loved their jams. Definitely worth a visit.

Had great fun picking strawberries, strawberries were absolutely delicious. Shelf Life is very less (maybe a day or two), so if you pick a lot of strawberries like me make sure you finish everything.

We were very lucky to have found this little gem during our visit to Port Macquarie. It was such a fun activity for the whole family. Service is friendly and there’s lots of strawberries to pick your own from. A few things to note if you go here, take a container to transport your strawberries. You can buy a box for a $1 but if I had the opportunity I’d have packed mine in a large plastic container. They sell chocolate sauce near the counter for the strawberries. Note that this one has a hint of Orange oil so if you’re not fan it might not be a great purchase. Not sure if we just grabbed the orange flavour one and if they also offer a clean one.
Lots of jams and chutney to choose from. We will visit again if we come to Port Macquarie.

We had a blast at Ricardoes Tomatoes! After a delicious breakfast of scones and banana bread we collected our buckets and headed out to pick strawberries. The kids were so pleased with themselves when they spied the perfect berry to pick!
The range of sweet and savoury treats was wonderful, we took home an armful of delicious things to try!
The staff were so welcoming and cheerful, so glad we stopped in here after seeing the sign on the highway the day before.

We had loads of fun here and picked some delicious strawberries! It's much more expensive than the supermarket, but it's fresher, it supports a local business, and it's a fun activity to do (especially with little ones)!
Duncan McArdle — Google review
Family had a fabulous time at Ricardo’s picking strawberries!
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like it’s cheaper than Woolworths, but it is a bit of fun to walk around a pick strawberries straight from the plants. Think the normal price is $20 kilo.
There is also a shop at Ricardoes where you can pickup all kinds of produce. We grabbed cherry tomatoes.
That said, would happily pop back again. The strawberries were delicious!!!

Great Strawberries picking time! Best parts: place is undercover, dry (no dirty shoes) and entry is FREE! We picked approx 2 kgs of strawberries (1 small bucket) and bought many strawberry jams to give away (each is $8). There are 4 large sheds to pick up strawberries. There is a shop and restaurant selling various products. Restaurant was too busy so we did not end up eating there (due to covid we are avoiding crowded indoor place). Strawberries were not large (not as large as when you bought at supermarket), but surprisingly very sweet. Very happy with them, fresh and sweet! We are hoping the place would provide more outdoor seating in the future. Overall we had great fun and we will definitely come back again!

Super cute little tomato & strawberry farm. Loved picking our own strawberries and learning how they grow hydroponically. Lots of delicious jams, relishes, sauces and more available in the little store. Our small bowl of strawberries cost quadruple what we pay at home in QLD but that’s the cost of being a tourist. Still worth the visit whilst on holidays.

What a fantastic experience picking our own strawberries. They were without a doubt the beat strawberries Ive ever had. Hubby had a latte and I had a chai latte and they were really nice great coffee and the scones were fabulous. We had date and pumpkin ones. Highly recommend anyone passing through to stop in. We have decided that it will be our go to place whenever we are travelling to and from Sydney now for fresh strawberries as car snacks, and brunch!

Amazing experience here picking our own fresh strawberries. Delicious and tasty produce! We loved the cafe too, great coffee and the yummiest strawberry jam and cream scones. Tomato bruschetta was so good too! We took home Ricardo’s tomato basil chilli jam and soup - incredible!!

Amazing!
Even though we visited at the end of the holidays and the strawberries were scarce we still filled our buckets and had a great time. I bought the small tomato’s and relish and jam also. So many delicious goodies !
Colleen Cook — Google review
Terrific cafe with a great selection. Also, some tomato-based menu items - they looked very good. I didn't enjoy the Greek salad that was served with the calamari. It was mostly lettuce, and proper Greek salads don't have any lettuce. The mushrooms and tomatoes with Turkish bread were fabulous.
They also sell a wide selection of jams, sauces, chutneys as well as tomatoes and strawberries.

Ricardoes strawberry picking experience was fun. We roughly spent about an hour there. It's just under a 20-minute drive from Port Macquarie.
The scones with jam and cream were very tasty. There are 4 different flavours of scones.
Dogs are allowed on the property but not inside the cafe/store/strawberry picking area.

Great coffee, & scones with jam & cream.
Beautiful tomatoes, & strawberries you pick yourself.

Very good experience on hydroponics strawberry picking. Also the lettuce is very sweet and good.
Strawberry is a little bit pricey per kg in the 1st feeling but they don't charge entry fee. It is pretty fair price.
Remember don't pick and try on the spot to support the local business.

The family enjoyed our trip to Ricardo's tomatos to pick our own strawberry's. Afterwards we selected some local produce and had morning tea. Cost for morning tea was $38 for 3 people.

Koala Hospital is a wildlife rehabilitation center located in Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia. The facility offers treatment and rehabilitation for sick and injured koalas as well as research into the plights of these much-loved animals. Koala Hospital is nationally recognised and provides intensive care units and yards for rehabilitation.
Don't miss going here! They get no government funding which is disgusting and don't charge entry! The organisation rely solely on the donations of people. You can sponsor a koala or simply make a donation. They have so many volunteers and they are all doing an amazing job... They're definitely Earth Angels every one of them!
Tresse Heselwood — Google review
It was beautiful to see all the gorgeous koalas. It was very sad though to see the stories of how they became to the hospital. There was a cheeky one or two also. The guides are very informative and the carers are very dedicated. A wonderful place for families. It also has a coffee caravan with delicious food and drinks and gorgeous seating areas.

A wonderful little place doing a fantastic job. It's definitely worth chatting with the staff and volunteers as they are very knowledgeable and passionate. We were there for over an hour because we loved chatting with the staff, otherwise it would have maybe been 20mins. I was very impressed with the gift shop, great selection and at decent prices.

Interesting Hospital for Koalas. Several were seen in the trees rehabilitating. In there own enclosure each one has information on the wire fence regarding injuries. Names for injured Koals are named with the finders first name and area. A new hospital will be built in the near future. Free entry makes this a great place to visit.

We really enjoyed spending an hour here this morning learning about the amazing work the Koala Hospital do and quietly observing the resident koalas. We got a wonderfully warm welcome from the staff who were happy to answer any questions (though the information displayed was so clear and comprehensive that we didn’t have any!). We were amazed that the hospital is free to visit, so we gladly showed our support by buying several items from the well-stocked gift shop.

Plenty of Koalas - you get to read their stories. And see their cuteness.
Staff/volunteers were extremely friendly, walking around and sharing fun facts, and more to each koalas story.
There is a cafe and a gift shop on site.
You can also donate.

This place was awesome, very educational and knowledgeable.
I had a amazing time being that close to a wild rescued koala. And seeing them in there natural state.
These guys do a fantastic job looking after the koalas and trying to rehabilitate and educate us all on how we can help this precious endangered species.
I would highly recommend going to this attraction.
Entry is free but you can donate while you are there which is a beautiful feeling.

Could I give it 6 stars ? Only because it is such a wonderful place to go. Not full of gimmicks or animals doing tricks. Just full of lovely, safe happy Koalas. And full of lovely, friendly and dedicated staff. Mostly volunteers I believe. The stories are heartbreaking but the results heart warming. The staff are so friendly and clearly they love the bears so much. Thank you for your care and loving attention. We loved our visit. Such good work being done for those dear animals.

Great place to visit. Dedicated staff do amazing work. Not government funded, so every donation welcomed. Next door to a heritage old homestead where you can browse through and sit down at the onsite cafe for a scone and a cuppa.

A wonderful spot that is free to enter and where any donations you do give go towards saving more koalas.
Staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful, and loved to be asked questions (and answer them in detail).
There were various koalas, including many in the trees above, but all in all I wouldn't say you'd spend more than 45 minutes here, 1 hour at a push.

Lovely visit
We enjoyed our visit to the furry patients at Port Macquarie's Koala hospital. We spent about half an hour browsing through the displays and watching the koalas in the rehabilitation yards. Entry is free - but donations are gratefully accepted. This would be a great spot to bring the family!!

What a little gem of a place - well worth supporting! (Gets no government funding and relies on donations to survive).
There are so many koalas recovering here, each with their own story. Museum is interesting and the volunteers are so welcoming. Yours run throughout the day. Next door Roto House offers nice walk around and gardens for a picnic.

Definitely worth visiting the koala hospital. What an amazing job all these volunteers are doing helping these precious animals. You guys are amazing!! One of the volunteers gave us a very informative tour around the hospital. It’s wonderful to see that these koalas are being well looked after.

Visitors to Port Macquarie must stop in at the unique attraction that is the Koala hospital.
Take in the long term Koala residents and read their heartbreaking stories as to why they live there. Hear more about Koalas that are being rehabilitated back into the wild.
Sweet little museum offers entertaining ways to learn about this native animal.
Free entry so make a donation or purchase something at gift shop to show your appreciation.

A great place with a very good initiative. Our little one enjoyed her time watching Koalas and we had a nice information session about Koala welfare. It was worth spending in the shop and donating for the cause. Definitely recommend a visit to this place.

Loved coming here to see the Koalas. We came and stayed in the area to look for koalas but never saw any in the wild this stay. Some gorgeous koalas. Some super sad how they got there, like Ella. The small orphaned baby joey koala was super cute too. I would come here again and visit Jade and Ella. Nice little interact stups with koala facts and mini Museum with taxidermy.

It was such a great experience to learn more about koalas, their habits, how to protect & respect them but also meet the ones injured and cared at the hospital by amazing and loving people. The entrance is free so I was really happy to buy some gifts at the shop and contribute to help them in their mission.

It's a very important place to conserve the koala population. The volunteers are doing a great job. The new "koalaseum" next to the hospital is very informative and interesting. This was my 4th visit there. It's a shame that the institution is still running only on donations. The Australian government DOES NOT support the koala hospital. Although that animal is an Aussie icon as well and must be protected like other.

Amazing experience visiting the resident koalas and learning all the facts about koalas in general. We visited first thing in the morning when the koalas are most active. We also had breakfast at the cafe on site which was lovely. Highly recommend this visit

So good to see the Kaolas who are wounded, recovering or for the lifetime being in care. It's definitely important to know that these amazing animals are being cared for. It's definitely worth a visit. Would love to have lent a hand to help, if its possible would love to know.

We love the Koalas, and this little hospital for them at Port Macquarie didn’t disappoint.
Many of the Koalas are being helped to get well enough so as they can be released back into the wild, however, some have been hurt so badly by cars and other injuries that they will
Remain here forever.
But all in all, if you love these cute little furry creatures you’ll love it.
There’s a Cafe and a shop to buy some cute little gifts to help them out along with the donation box.
Alan Gillett — Google review
Lots of koalas visible in the trees and one even pacing up and down eight in front of us. A well run facility with helpful staff willing to tell us the background behind each inhabitant. Fortunately they don't show any badly injured koalas, so it was a positive, uplifting experience. And it's free!!

Great place! They take care of multiple koalas here. You can see the koalas up close. There is a nice informative part at the beginning with some funny "did you know" facts about koalas and other animals. During our visit they were feeding a koala.

Well worth a visit. Set in beautiful grounds, these amazing creatures are nursed and nurtured back into their native environment where possible. Loved my visit here, and was more than happy to buy a few gifts in the shop at the end. The volunteers are more than happy to engage and are very informative.
If you're nearby, please do go!

I love Australian Volunteers culture, the Koala 🐨🐨🐨 Hospital only got 4 paid full time then like 180 volunteers to run the Koala Hospital! We bought few souvenirs and a small donation to support this lovely Koala Hospital. Every day the volunteers will do room service for the Koala and the Koala will be trained and test to ensure they fit for the Wild environment again! For the one injured, then they will be permenate residents at the Koala hospital and enjoy 5 stars service. The Koalas there looks happy to me so I give it a 5 Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

so sweet! much better than a zoo! you can see about 10 koalas and the volunteers will tell you all their stories, you get close to them. entry is free, it’s non profit and on donations afterwards. such a great place!
