Step into this historic inland settlement among the sandstone buildings of Hartley Historic Site, on the western edge of the Blue Mountains near Lithgow. Stay in the newly renovated historic cottages. The village also offers a gallery and tours.
Step back in time within the historic village of Hartley set into the western edge of the beautiful Blue Mountains. Set among pastures, orchards, native plants and nineteenth and twentieth-century cottage gardens, the village’s lovely sandstone buildings preserve an important piece of history: the settlement of inland Australia.
Seventeen buildings tell the story of the village, from the 1837 Greek Revival courthouse to Corneys Garage, built in 1945 of timber and iron. Explore the artefacts and family histories, find out about the region’s past at the visitor centre, or enjoy a picnic in the absolute serenity of historic Hartley.
In recognition of Hartley’s heritage significance, an exciting revitalisation plan is being developed, with improved facilities and new exhibition spaces. There are already a number of fascinating tours and events held at Hartley, so call ahead to get involved.

Is a historic village that exists for more than 150 years. Walk in to the visitors reception to buy ticket $8.80 for adults, this is to access into the heritage court house and the church. Reception will give you access code to unlock the digital lock.
Also, Talisman workshop and gallery is a must to visit, many amazing hand-made art pieces. Not much people in the weekend morning. We spent 1 hour plus to visit here which including little walk to see the river and the granite rock.

Beutifull stop. Not a massive attraction in the sense of say a big museum. But has a charm and timelessness you won't regret enjoying. Views are stunning.

Absolutely love this place to see this historical village where convicts were and to learn a bit of history of your past, you can even check out inside the courthouse and church even ring the church bell, and don't forget about the antique shop where you can get yourself a souvenir.

It's nice enough however would be good if you could go in the buildings they were all locked

It's not too busy out there. You will need to head directly to the visitors reception to get tickets. It was $8.8 for adults, reception will give you access codes to the heritage court house and the church. There's also the Talisman workshop and gallery which was amazing, a bit pricey but there are some affordable souvenirs. The river walk is a must, it was the best part of our visit.

A great place for a quick detour on your way to Bathurst as the Historic Village is just off the highway. We didn't get any tickets but just had a quick wonder around to check out the well preserved Historic buildings. The Riverbank walk is definitely unexpected and quite enjoyable.

A lovely, peaceful self guided tour plus a couple of well marked walks. An excellent spot to stop on a drive west from Sydney, which will be even better once the Post Office Cafe is open again ☺️

Nice little area with 5 remaining colonial houses around. Sadly you can't go in but there are quite a bit to see around. The courthouse and the church. There's also self guide tours available next to the church.

OK for a quick stop along the highway. The Rowsons River walking track was our highlight (particularly the boardwalk section), although you will need good mobility to navigate the steep dirt path at the entry.

The Japanese Bath House offers a serene and rejuvenating experience with its indoor and outdoor hot baths, cold plunge tube, and steam room. Visitors can even book a private bath for added relaxation. The atmosphere is tranquil, perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The staff provides top-tier service and maintains the facility's cleanliness diligently. Guests can also enjoy manicured gardens and stunning views of Lake Lyell while indulging in various baths.
Amazing experience. Service was polite and friendly. We also booked for a massage and it was extremely professional and relaxing. They only allow a certain number of guests in the facility at one time so it was reasonably spacious and peaceful. Everything was explained very thoroughly during the tour upon entry. Would love to come back!

A great concept but with not the best execution. The rules and operational consideration takes priority over guest experience and it is a rule-fest from website, confirmation email to welcome speech. Once inside the site is ok but the farm itself is a mix of farm detritus. Much of the decor is plastic, including the plants and “bamboo” walls. The team are friendly and efficient and the masseuse (es) were excellent. The food is quite good and it is well worth completing the Japanese experience. It was expensive and had the experience been more complete/authentic it would have been a bargain. As it is it was ok but I wouldn’t want to do it again.
Jacques Bergh — Google review
Went there during Easter holidays and paid for a package that includes 3 hours of bath time followed by 1 hour massage / facial.
In my opinion, the place is on the small size, however, they do control the number of people so it’s not extreme crowded.
The place is clean and staff are courteous reminding guest of Japanese etiquette.
What I didn’t like about this place is its disconnection from nature. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about the view over Lake Lyell. That’s fantastic, however, everything you can touch is plastic. The bamboo garden, the pool, the cave, the furniture, even the tea cups.
I was also disappointed when they told us we couldn’t take our own tea in. Food is rather pricy. Facial 5* / massage 3*
The above package for two cost $700 including the view. We think it’s more than what it’s worth.

This is an absolute must to attend if you are a local to Sydney or are visiting. The quality and service provided here is absolutely remarkable. You get a personal guided tour of the entire Sparadise and then encouraged to use all their baths and services during the allocated time. Recommend you to book early when they open (2PM) because you get the place to yourselves, no need to wait for baths to be free and have the peace and tranquility you deserve! At about 4PM onwards it gets absolutely packed and you have people lingering around, sharing baths but if you don’t mind that then go for it! The only downfall of this place is the restaurant, the food is extremely pricey and for standard food court japanese food. They can charge that price because there’s no other food available for kilometres!! They charge $9 for tea pots that literally taste like hot water, absolute rip off. Eat before or after, save yourself the hefty bill. Otherwise a must to visit!
christian — Google review
Brilliant, the service and attention to detail was very high. From the moment you walk in you are treated as if you’re special, the various pools are fantastic and the staff take time to explain everything, the location, overlooking Lyell Lake is breathtaking and the landscaping within the property is brilliant. The only 2 negative comments are that the massage isn’t long enough, you must at least include a 1 hour massage, the other thing is that we bought a voucher for the value of the package at the time, due to COVID we couldn’t go until now so the charged us extra because they have since put their prices up.
Michael Lopez — Google review
We went during a cold and rainy day and it just made the bath more warm and cosy, lots of undercover places to laze around in. 3 hours was enough in my opinion, I'd only recommend you eat before since the food is expensive ($40) they give you free thongs and a waterproof bag. Staff are very nice and attentive. Very intimate and romantic place and traditional, clean. Like you are transported back to Japan.

Just as we expected and more. My partner and I booked the private bath experience and the three hour bath house entry for our anniversary. Well worth the money. It left us feeling rejuvenated, relaxed beyond belief and like we had been truly pampered. What a beautiful experience.

We loved it here! So relaxing and it being a cooler evening made the baths that much more inviting. Plenty of different size and shape baths to choose from so take your time to explore. We were here 3-6pm, so it was mostly daylight but also got to experience the night settle in and their lights come on which was pretty magical too
Alycia Lipovac — Google review
If relaxation/destress is what you're after, then I highly recommend the Japanese Bath House! Located approximately 2 hours from Sydney CBD, this place has a variety of packages to choose from. We opted for the destress package, which includes a 30 minute massage and 3 hour in the public baths.
Bookings are needed as there is a maximum capacity allowed inside, so it is recommended making a booking atleast 3 weeks in advance, to avoid disappointment. I highly recommend making a booking for one of the early slots (around 12 pm), so that you can take it easy without rushing.
There is plenty of parking, and when you enter, you need to leave your shoes on a rack and then walk through a pool of water and at the end of it, you're given a pair of slippers to wear (yours to keep) and welcomed and given an introduction to the bath house. You need to sign a declaration form and then you're given a key to the locker. You can purchase a towel here (about $10), if needed. Each person needs to have a towel of their own. If this is your first time, you would be given a tour of the bath house.
We were then asked to change into our bath robes and then taken for our massage. The massage was followed by a nice hot tea, which has very welcome on a nice cold day. We then went and enjoyed the different onsens which were nice and relaxing (it is recommended that you spend a maximum of 10 minutes in each pool).
Following the time spent in the water you do build up an appetite. There is a restaurant to order meals from (on average a meal would be about $30), which you can sit and enjoy. The portion sizes are fairly decent and quite tasty.
Overall, I would highly recommend it and definitely go again!
Hit a like, if this was helpful 😊

Had an amazing weekend getaway experience for our anniversary!
We chose the night stay package to get to experience all the baths and an hour massage.
Plan on having a meal from the in house menu or an early dinner in Lithgow to return to enjoy the baths at night for a whole other experience!
A must try to escape from the city and enjoy the scenic country side in the comfort of a Japanese bath.
Definitely planning to be back soon 😄

I was very intrigued to how this was going to be, pleasantly surprised. My hubby even enjoyed it ( which was the all reason for going ) I think it’s great for people that have ailments and not recommend for young. As it is a relaxing environment and if you want to sit there and chat your in the wrong place.
I personally loved the hot pool and the cold plunge bath was invigorating mind and body.
I opted out for refreshments there , wheelchair access pretty much everywhere.
And above all service was bang on !!! I’d love to go back soon !!

Best massage I've ever had. And they have the best etiquette. You won't be dissatisfied at the Japanese bath house. They are great for couples , families and friends. They also have a great restaurant where you can eat your lunch or have morning tea. 🩵 This place is a must visit.

Beautiful place for a relaxing bath house experience. Helpful staff that ensure you respect the facilities and patrons alike. Very nice tea room with lunch options. Worth the drive!

Always a great time here at the bath house. Clean facility, good control of the amount of ppl they take daily. Lots of different pools to choose from. My favourite is to finish off the whole experience with the herbal sauna and then go for some yummy food. Food on site is more pricy than a normal restaurant ($35+ for a main like rice or noodles), but quality is very good making it more acceptable. We ordered curry beef rice and the beef is really good quality. Also the pork noodle is so yum too.

I've been a regular here for quite some time, even before they renovated the place. The cleanliness is top-notch and the staff are always professional. I did notice a slight increase in prices during the public holiday, but it wasn't too significant. I would suggest visiting earlier to avoid the crowds.

This place is beautiful and meticulous. Manicured gardens, the service impeccable. Thoroughly clean and have strict hygienic protocol. A large variety of baths set up on the hillside overlooking lake lyell. Had a massage and spend a couple of hours using the facilities. It's pretty pricey but the experience was wonderful, would do it again
Cristina Noordermeer — Google review
Amazing customer service the moment you arrive. We had the private bath experience which was really nice. The staff were always making sure floors weren’t too wet and cleaning the place. We ate afterwards inside where the food was tasty but small portions and fairly overpriced. However, we did go there for the bathhouse experience and not the food so I am not too fussed. The little sleep pods were so useful as the hot water does make you fairly tired fast haha, wish there were more of them around. Would really recommend this for couples or anyone looking to get away for a relaxing experience! I would definitely want to check this place out at night to see the stars!
Nina Nguyen — Google review
Loads of hot baths and pools, herbal sauna was the best. Just missing a really cold plunge.
This place would be ideal during colder months.
Paul Hulak — Google review
Lovely place to relax and have a wonderful hot spring water with multiple different sizes of pools. Cave pool, individual pool, big pool, cold pool, steam herbal sauna.
Remember to book the appointment via email before 6 weeks, pay when you are here. 3 hours cost $190 for 2 people to enjoy their facilities. The driveway is quite dangerous if you drive in dark due to no road light and narrow winding road.
You can bring your own foods or snacks in the car for bag and keep in cabinet as the prices of foods really expensive. You can go out to eat in your car if you feel dizzy or hungry.
Take a short shower before start, need to wear swim suits and bring own big towel or bathrobe to keep you warm when you move around. It is better to bring another towel to use after finished the bath before leaving.
They provided slipper to use and take home after finished, free water proofs bag to carry things with you if needed. There are 2 drinking water stations with paper cups, have one is need to pump quickly for water to comes out. Changing area and rest area have heater to keep us warm.

I had a complete experience at this Bath House. First, the price here is reasonable. You basically get what you pay for. Service is top-tier. All the staff and friendly and nice. They do keep this place very clean. There’s always a person going around mopping. Second, the vibe here is super Zen. You’ll feel relaxed as soon as you step into then place. I’m quite pleased with the settings and the baths. Get massage package as well. I mean how often do you really come here. May as well get then combo! Third, I must say there’s not alot to do after 1 hour. They should really add more temperature zone. However, I still highly recommend this place! You’ll like it.

The car experienced a breakdown in the parking lot during a road trip, leading to feelings of confusion and frustration. Seeking assistance, a visit was made to the Seven Valleys Visitor Information Centre in Lithgow. The staff, including Vicki, Naomi, Bella the dog, and an unidentified owner, provided great comfort and support. They offered guidance on local campsites, recommended places for good food, and suggested interesting attractions while waiting for the car to be fixed.
A wealth of information on Lithgow and surrounds. We received very friendly helpful service and lots of info on what to see and do on our visit. Thanks so much

Our car broke down in the car park whilst on a roadtrip. Feeling a little lost and exasperated, we dropped into the Visitor Centre to collect our thoughts and figure out a plan. Vicki, Naomi, Bella the dog, and her owner (sorry, we didn't catch your name!) put us at ease, sorted us out with a cup of tea and were absolutely wonderful.
We ended up needing to stay in Lithgow overnight and they gave us expert knowledge about local campsites, places to get a good food, and local gems to visit whilst our car was being sorted out. We can't thank them enough!
From being stressed and down, we left with big smiles on our faces and with a love of the lovely little town and its lovely community. Thanks so much, team!

Moved to the region with not much knowledge of what is around locally. Found the information center had a lot of brochures available to take with you for free, all of them organized into categories making it easy to find actives to match your interest. The downstairs area had a small free art exhibition of local art when I last visited, going in with low expectations of it I was surprised at how good the quality of art was and really enjoyed it. One staff member we spoke with was extremely kind and friendly, when asked about a photo on their picture slides she was able to give us all the information about it and how to get their. The staff are highly knowledgeable about the local region and passionate to share it

Museum displaying cars, motorcycles & other memorabilia related to Australia's racing history.
I loved our visit to the museum! While I've been a few times over the years, it had been a while and it was the first time taking my family. I always get a kick out of seeing Australian racing history on display and being able to view up close the race cars (and bikes!) I've grown up with was very cool. The quality of the displays and background information is fantastic and a big thanks to the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Without this museum, some of the greatest race cars in Australia wouldn't be seen by the public. Whether you're a die hard race fan or someone who watches once a year when the Bathurst 1000 is on, the museum is a must do if you get the chance!
Paul Campbell — Google review
A lot of fun to see the cars up close. Aptly priced and great location, if you’re driving up Mt you should definitely consider stopping in here. The location is nice and clean, friendly staff and good memorabilia. I would recommend having the collection coin machine checked however. When I was there it took my money and didn’t slot the coin. Highly recommend.

For those who are into muscle cars, this is a wonderful place to visit, you can buy beautiful souvenirs from there, it's not so expensive. Unisex toilets are available there. There's a dark room where they play videos on 3 walls of the past races, the sound wasn't great, it was fun for kids and for adults as well.
ahmed tarshan — Google review
The NMRM is located at the entrance to the great Mt Panorama race track. It looks like a small building from the front, but has a treasure trove or racing memories and history inside.
Whether it's motorbikes (racing since 1938!) or cars (since 1963), there's something here for you.
As someone who has watched the Bathurst 1000 since the early 70s, this was a real trip down memory lane. It also provided a few surprises looking at the winners of the first seven or eight years of car racing.
All the major winning vehicles are on display (either replicas or restorations) and it's amazing to think about some of the early winners and they cars they drove.
There are also some cars that have participated in the 12hr and 6hr events, as well as many of the major motorcycle races over the years. If you're a speedway fan, there are even some of those on display!
Even if you're not a motor racing fan, this will still be of interest just from a local history aspect.

Very over rated, very much out dated. I mean the bike board ain't been updated since 1982. Non interactive especially the children's ay ground. They expect people to have a bbq in the picnic ground. The play ground is no good for children, no shade and quite frankly they could have at least made the ay ground an interesting, interactive kids area. One day they may get the idea of what a museum should be. There is much better out there but it depends on where or what you actually want to travel to.

Great place if you enjoy V8 Supercars. Although there are a few GT cars and open wheel cars. One thing to note is that the model cars for sale in the gift shop are pricey.

So good to be back at this track this year. As always the racing runs like clockwork. I think the experience this year is better than any of the previous ones I've been to. And there have been a mixed bunch of 'creative' people up on the mountain..

This place is a hidden heaven. The top of the mountain at Mount Panorama is a great spot to just sit and chill if you are around. Although many peeps were jogging on the whole track which was quite impressive as its approx. 6 kms (inclined) but the whole place had a great vibe honestly.
And and and, you get to watch bunch of Kangaroos just roaming around the area too.
Will surely go there again soon, hopefully to watch a race on this amazing track.

Mount Panorama, the words instantly bring the roaring of supercars charging up the mountain and that same buzz of excitement is what you feel as you drive onto the circuit (even at 60km).
A motor racing iconic location, stunning scenery and views all around.
Will I be back, absolutely.

Have a drive around this iconic circuit.
The bends coming off the top of the mountain are very steep and very sharp. Amazing how fast a supercar gets through this bit.
Then go around the other way, remember it's 60kph and two way traffic, but it shows how sterp and windy the track is
Timm Anderson — Google review
A truly amazing experience to be able to experience driving like a pro, however the speed limit is only 60km.
The views from the mountain is stunning and you can even park your car and have a walk at the top of the mountain.
Totally free, but just make sure you stick to the speed limit as cops just come out from no where.
Kim Nguy — Google review
One of the most iconic race track in the world. The panoramic views at the top of the mountain are surreal, and there are plenty of opportunities for decent pictures with no fence obstructing the race cars around the track. Great atmosphere too during the Bathurst 12 Hours.

Mount Panorama motor car racing circuit is up there with the best in the world. The size makes it great for action all the time, but the elevation of the Mount is amazing, something you will never see on TV until you are here. You can drive around too but ONLY at the speed limit LOL.

If you've never driven the track before, you definitely should try and get on a manufacturer's driving experience or professional drivers training day.

The Bathurst 12 hour race is an amazing weekend!

Opened in 1890, this Victorian park offers a bandstand & fountain, plus a begonia house & duck pond.
Lovely park for picnics and the ever changing trees and flowering shrubs and plants are very pretty. View the ducks and turtles in the Spencer fountain. Follow the paths that weave around through the park.
In the park you will find a lovely little enclosed fernery with a cute little path to walk around and the Begonia House with a stunning display of beautiful colourful Begonias.

This is bat park. You will see hundreds of bats on each and every tree in this park. Ok for short visit but not recommended.

Lovely area. Very pretty with the changing leaves. Great old buildings.

Beautiful park with a really adventurous feel and some pretty rad wildlife. I am a huge fan of bats and there's dozens of fruit bats lining the tops of the trees. Wonderful gardens and a really great picnic spot idea.
Ghost Sale — Google review
A very well-maintained park that has clean grass, and lots of shade. Surprisingly, the pond has large ducks and does not smell bad. The park is also conveniently located to other key areas of town. Great to take kids into, or have an evening walk.
John Wang — Google review
Such a beautiful park with some lovely flowers and a nice duck pond. And that's without even visiting the fernery (it was closed by the time we got there). I wish there were more places like this.
Nancy Khuu — Google review
Jan-22: a lot nicer now, the park seems very well maintained. Some areas still closed due to covid
Jul-20: During covid, parts of the park are closed... It was mid July when we went, and I think autumn would be the best time to visit.
Karl Chong — Google review
What a beautiful park in the heart of Bathurst! The pond has HEAPS of ducks and as we went for an early evening stroll through the park we spotted a huge number of bats hanging in the giant pine trees above! Those giant pines are so impressive, and are almost 130 years old!
There is a beautiful large fountain and historic rotunda. The grass is well kept, lush and green with plenty of open space for a picnic or a stroll.
Public Toilet block on site as well.

1876 school-turned-museum with a renowned collection of fossils, minerals & dinosaur skeletons.
A great little museum with lovely staff. I would recommend between 15 minutes to 1 hour for most. Their gift shop is also a one stop shop for dinosaur themed gifts.
Micci Hatch — Google review
Good place to visit especially with kids. Lot's of collection of minerals and fossil along with its history. Kids were very excited to see dinosaur skeleton. There was 4 questions for kids with answers hidden in the museum and they received a free gift after submitting the paper at the reception. Small place but overall worth visiting atleast once.

Excellent museum for crystal lovers… you can see different collection of crystals.. worth visit if you are lover of fossils and crystals…unless you can avoid…car parking is available on road side… for us it took 40 mins to spend time in Museum… ideally took 1 hour approximately…

Great place especially for those with kids intrested in rocks and fossils. The collection of minerals is amazing. The TRex pet section is a wonderful for young and not so young. The youn man at the desk is a credit to the museum

It's just like you were told as a kid ..you get to see dinosaurs and ancient animals . It's the last few days you can use your discover NSW vouchers and see something really marvelous. It's not a huge building so you will definitely have time to go through and read and really get to know about the artefacts. You enter through the gift shop into a sea of sparkling crystals..amethyst amber's and others crystals.. so many you could spend the day admiring nature's jewellery.. you walk through into the other room to be greeted by two huge dinosaur cast from original bone casts and recreated for display. Walking along the room you could experience walking through the meta million years of evolution from early signs of organisms to herds of hearing like unknown species to creatures and insects crystallized into tree wax to form into amber's .. you can see actual dinosaur bones and eggs too and find out types of fishes whose species are yet in named.. don't forget the mystery drawers of fossils. Once you have taken in all that you get to walk out of through the gift shop where if you want you can actually carry a fossilised history dating back to millions of years back home with you. .. it's really an experience.

Wow what an amazing place! It has an AMAZING minerals exhibition with so much information and laid out so amazingly! Then you step through to the fossil and dinosaur exhibition and you're in for another surprise. So many fantastic fossils laid out in chronological order with so much ieasy to understand and labelled information. To top this off, a fantastic T-Rex skeleton along with a few others. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Bathurst. Or even better, get.pass for all three excellent museums here in Bathurst and see them all! Minerals and Dinosaur, Train and Mt Panorama museums..(It's actually cheaper to get a pass for all three)

An informative museum set inside an old school in Bathurst. Describes the major classes of minerals and links it to the development of fossils and Earth's geologic history. The ticket price is $15 and the detailed and informative displays are well worth an hour or so of your time.

The Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum - Home of the Somerville Collection is located in the city of Bathurst in regional New South Wales Australia and was opened in July 2004. The collection is housed in a group of heritage buildings, the old 1874 public school buildings, in the centre of the city. Nearly 2000 specimens are on display from the internationally renowned Somerville Collection. There is an entry fee of $15 per adult. The main attraction for tourists and enthusiasts is the 10 ½ metre long and 4-metre high Tyrannosaurus rex (T.Rex) skeleton.

The museum is a great place for an adventure, either by yourself or with our family. They have a great history of minerals and geology throughout Australia, an excellent section of fossils and skeletons in the dinosaur section, and a very awesome and informative video on the changes of earths geological history. If you want to spend 1-2 hrs over there it's a best place. 15min drive from Lithgow 2790, 50min from Bathurst 2795.
Saw many people free camping as well as in caravan here. Fishing is also another significant thing you can do here.
Unklike other parks you can drive as far as you want so in summer, rain you can change your plan whenever you like.
Strongly recommended to people who want to go near nature and serenity.

Very nice area with a vibrant house. The owner family still lives there and the people still work there as part of daily errands. So many exciting heritage and nostalgic items around the house and nice car collection.

We did the garden self-tour only, which was fine as there are plaques full of information.
Largest Scottish thistles that I have seen!
It must be very hard to maintain the original very extensive gardens without considerable funding. Gardens seem to need a more singular vision, and are in danger of becoming a mishmash of enthusiasms.
Peacocks were an unexpected highlight of this walk for me!
Siobhan Mc Inerney — Google review
Beautiful old house. Very cluttered inside feels like there is too much stuff inside not relevant to a house of that age. The owners were welcoming and are fixing the place themselves so doesn't seem to have government funding support etc. Small entry fee $15. Beautiful gardens

This place is full of amazingly gorgeous historical items from around the globe the house itself is an architectural wonder. They are always improving, renovating and restoring. Currently underway are renovations to include a cafe which will be wonderful. Also fingers crossed that the guide book with details of many of the objects will be finished soon. Looking forward to reading more about the house history and contents Christopher 😁

We visited the house during Easter holiday.
The entrance fee is $15 each and there are lots to look around.
Very beautiful garden and antiques in the house.
Highly recommended to visit!

The house has very interesting furniture but has dead animals skins. Other then that they can be suitable for animal lovers because of a cat named Wilson, a turtle called Henry/Hank, an unnamed tabby and many, many peacocks in the garden. Perfect for history lovers too! Sometimes, you can just have a look around the garden outside. There is a church, an antique store and many more! Also, you don't need a guided tour because there is many signs of information inside and out.

A beautiful mansion built in the mid 19th century. I was fortunate to visit on the annual Scottish Day. It was fabulous with lone pipers, a pipe band, singers and dancers.
The house itself is fascinating and nearly every room was open.
I will visit again.

This magnificent estate is well worth a visit. So much to see in so many painstakingly restored rooms. From the massive ballroom to the hundreds of authentic furniture pieces and a bewildering number of fireplaces. The grounds are also a sight to behold with all the lawns, gardens, stables, blacksmith quarters and other outbuildings. Friendly and helpful staff to answer all questions on the history of the place. Highly recommend at least a three hour visit.
Al Packer — Google review
This was cool, but a bit strange.
The house and historic furnishings and trinkets were lovely, and it was interesting to look around and imagine what life would've been like. It wasn't busy at all, and we were at our leisure to wander around at our own pace without getting in anyone's way.
The number of rooms and winding staircases and windows and balconies is just beyond anything we build today.
Although the renovations have been underway for literally half a century, they seem very haphazard and even the bits that are open to the public have extension leads running everywhere, visible fire extinguishers, filyhy patched carpet etc, and no information about what the room was used for, how it would've been decorated etc.
Every flat surface in the house is crammed with mis-matched bric-a-brac with no information about what it is or how it relates to the house. E.g. a Chinese vase is shoved next to an African wood carving, next to an ancient arrowhead, with some old glass water bottles stacked nearby.
Every wall is covered with random pictures and pieces of artwork, from military scenes to yachts to nude sketches to flower tapestries to family photos. Again there is no information about their time period, where they came from, how they were acquired, or how they relate to the house.
Yet there is a full A4 page dedicated to the pet turtle, and one for the yabby as well.
The gardens are not really maintained and are just "there"; not set out with seating to sit and enjoy. You can wander among the out-buildings, but none of them are open to look at and most of them have junk stacked under the verandahs etc.
The grounds do have some interesting and detailed information about the white settlers, the building of the house, the women who occupied it during WWII etc.
Overall, it's an interesting historical experience. There is plenty to see, and the family has obviously put a lot of love and hard work into it, but it feels haphazard and directionless.
Talia Kent — Google review
Abercrombie House is a magnificent looking house. The construction is a tribute to the builders of the time, as well as those who selected the materials for the building.
As the house is now occupied, not all of the rooms are accessible, but the house is so big, and there are so many rooms to visit, that this hardly matters.
We did find that the house was overly cluttered with souvenirs and mementos from the various family's travels and there was no pattern or theme to all the items in the house. It seems to be a random collection of items from around the world. It was a little more difficult to appreciate the inside of the house, the pictures of those who have lived or connected to the various residents of the home or how the house was home to various families in the time it has stood.
It's still well worth visiting for a glimpse into the early years of life in Bathurst and surrounds. The grounds of the home are beautiful and tell the story of how the more well to do lived in the past.
Abercrombie house is about 10 minutes or so from the centre of Bathurst, hidden away from the main highways and even the local roads.
Rick Power — Google review
Great to see a part of history is still here. Happy to pay the entry fee to contribute to restoration. The house definitely needs more maintenance and cleaning. The rooms open to public needs a lot of tidying up so it wouldn't feel like it's just random stuff piled up here and there. I understand that this would require lots of hard work and not to mention $$$. Funny to see the Christmas decos in July.
Jenny Hao — Google review
A time capsule sitting on the green.
The attention to details of the building's original design is amazing. The occupants of the great mansion over the years brought culture from around the globe back into their rooms and further enriched the visiting experience.
A recommended attraction on the outskirts of Bathurst.
One of the newer wineries in Orange, but boasting a very interesting range of whites. The 2013 Arneis was our favourite: a complex and floral wine with notes of pear.

Visited this place on Easter Sat'day at 12pm...there was one car in the visitor car park so we were pleasantly surprised it was not busy so potentially we could do a wine tasting...we were wrong. My husband went into ask if it was dog friendly only to be told no. He then looked down at the floor and saw a dog walking around? The lady obviously noted how awkward her response was and then asked what breed our dog was - Pug, following which she said it was fine. We walked in (we have two pugs) to a much anxious lady who was obviously distressed with her decision to let us in and made us feel very uncomfortable saying that we weren't allowed to stay in the main room but we're welcome outside although we couldn't so any wine tasting there. I mentioned that is what we were there for only for her to say no because I had a dog. I said 'so it's not dog friendly' to which she replied saying we couldnt do wine tasting as we didn't have a booking. I asked if they had availability, she replied she did but said because I hadn't booked, I couldn't do it?! We were the only people there alongside another couple who were in the middle of wine tasting, so she wasn't run off her feet. She made us feel awful in front of others as if we had had done something wrong. Awfully rude lady...

From the moment we met our guide Kristie at our meeting place in Lithgow to when we were dropped back 3 hours later we had the most interesting and adventurous experience!
Kristie confidently drove us down the (very) steep alternate road built after the original Wolgan Rd was severely damaged by landslides. Once down into the valley we were delighted to see a great variety of birds whilst Kristie shared her extensive knowledge not only of the birds but the whole valley including its geological history.
Morning tea was very special with locally baked cake, fruit and expresso coffee – all whilst standing in a paddock under the beautiful gums of the valley.
I would highly recommend Wolgan Valley Eco Tours and look forward to our next adventure with Kristie!

Our birding tour with Kristie was a wonderful experience. She showed us the birds, animals, vegetation and geology of the Wolgan Valley in the Blue Mountains with knowledge and enthusiasm. We will cherish our memory of this trip with you Kristie and remember the Wolgan Valley for the truly unique place it is.

The tour was amazing much more than we expected. Kristie gave an informative commentary with loads of local knowledge and experience.
Some of the highlights were watching the sunrise over the Wolgan Valley, seeing a Regent Honeyeater and the yummy morning tea.
Anne Griffin — Google review
Over the June long weekend Kristie took our family of three (two adults and a 9 year old) on 2 wonderful tours in Wolgan Valley.
We did the bush walk to the Glow Worm tunnel through the beautiful Wollemi National Park on the first day and a bird watching tour on our second day.
Kristie came prepared with torches for the tunnels and binoculars for bird watching. Kristie is knowledgable on all local wildlife, birds and plant species. Her knowledge of the local area and it’s history is second to none.
Kristie took the time to explain the impact of recent weather and the 2019 bushfires have had on the wildlife and fauna of national park. It was very educational and fascinating.
The glow worm tour took us about 7 hours because we were slow walkers taking everything in. This is definitely a walk that should be done with a guide. Some tracks were closed due to land slides and parts of the park are off limits. A guide will ensure you are walking in the safe areas of the park whilst having minimal impact on an environment that’s still recovering from the bushfires.
The bird tour was lots of fun without too much walking. We spotted several local species and helped Kristie document them for records as part of citizen science.
We had a great weekend and would definitely recommend Kristie and Wolgan Valley Eco Tours.

We have walked many tracks around the world but this was one of our best. Kristie was very well planned and thoughtful of all our needs. A beautiful national park to visit. Two main campgrounds which can be booked online. The diggings campground has a drop toilet. No other amenities available. Requires you to be self sufficient (bring your own water) and take your rubbish out.
Requires a 4wd for access. Other side of national park enters Sunny corner state forest and the landmark known as the Pinnacle.

Turon River National Park is a fabulous destination for adventurers with an offroad 4wd vehicle. Your regular car won't make it so bring your truck for this destination. There are abundant secluded camping sites and lots of gold mining history too. Ammenities included picnic tables, fire rings and drop toilets. The river flows clean and clear and good deep swimming holes can be found. Bring the whole family for a camping adventure they will remember.
Wesley Warren — Google review
This is the place for a great escape from the city hustle and bustle. It seems like a million miles away but it is a leisurely couple of hours drive.
There are designated camping areas within the National Park and there is a selection of accommodation choices from Turon Gates eco stay.
They have lots of isolated cabins that can accommodate a variety of numbers of people as well as 'glamping' if that is what you prefer.
Picnic areas down by the Turon River are idyllic.
All in all it is well worth the visit.

This is a must for any serious camper or offroader. This has plenty of campsites with quite a few of them have an area ready for a fire. There are beautiful views of the Turon rivers and plenty of sight seeing and photo opportunities. This is a free camp spot with a toilet. Also, if you need supplies it is only a short drive to Capertee for fuel, food and much more

An important part of Australia's oil shale history.
My wife and I took the tour on the 20/2/2021and found it to be very informative. Our friendly tour guide Graeme meet us at the gates a bit before 5pm on the Saturday evening. We were joined by another couple joining the tour before driving through the gates and following our guide to the original levee bank surrounding the site of the refinery.
Graeme talked about the creation of the oil shale and other geological features of the valley before we walked down the road to the remains of the refinery gates. As we continued along the concrete driveway we stopped at different locations and were given detailed descriptions of each section of the site along with some history relating to each of the areas.
This is a tour I would recommend to anybody. It has so much to offer with stunning views of towering sandstone cliffs surrounding the refinery runes, wildlife of all descriptions and with the afternoon light the opportunity to capture some great photographic images. I also purchased the Glen Davis hard cover book from our guide at the end of the tour which is loaded with information and wonderful images of the past.
I would recommend ringing ahead and confirming you interest in a tour. This way if you are running a little late you won't miss out as you will be expected.

It is ok… not much for look out… we can see some of the mining entrances….road is very rusty… not much car parking.. we spent barely 10 mins

Twilight is the best time to visit this lookout over the gulleys and mines of Hill End. Rough but beautiful country.
Kate O'Neill — Google review
Well worth the effort to drive out to the spot to see the view of the Hill End diggings that Merlin photographed. Despite the road being dirt, you should have no trouble getting out here with a 2WD.
As an added bonus, if you are into geocaching, there is a cache within 50m of the lookout.
Jonathan Auld — Google review
It’s a bit of a dirt track to get the lookout, but the view, and peace and quiet was mind blowing. Watch out if you take the kids, there are no fences!
If you crave tranquility-come to this piece of paradise.

This beautiful spot for taking in a great sunset was just a short drive from our campsite in Hill End. It was quiet place to sit and relax at the end of a day spent exploring the Historic area of Hill End.
Angela Chapman — Google review
Beautiful lookout, just about 2km from the town centre. Perfect for sunrise but not for sunset ❤️
Mera Savage — Google review
Amazing view but the lookout is basically just the edge of a cliff/extremely steep embankment (no fence or rail) with a bench seat and history info board. The ground in the area is very loose and rocky underfoot making you a bit anxious trying to enjoy the view whilst watching your footing and being safe.
Samantha Shipstone — Google review
Great views along the valley from this lookout. A great place for sunrise. The road in is a bit rough and there is only a small turning circle and basically no parking once you arrive at the lookout. Still managed to get the motorhome in though! Less tree blockage than the nearby Split Rock Lookout, so you actually get a better view from here.
Suzanne Goldsmith — Google review
Stunning look out point with secret entrance to loop around 4x4 4WD track. On the way up to Merlins lookout there is a road to the right with "no through road" and if you turn there and go past the commerical shed down a bit you can jump onto a 4x4 track that loops around to the Hill End Tip. You will definitely need a 4WD, unlike the bridle track it's a little more difficult

Spectacular views over the holls contaiming so many mines
Must see exhibition which includes the extraordinary photographic record made during Hill Ends 1870s heyday. Interesting exhibition includes mining displays and short film about town establishment and subsequent State Heritage Listing.

Great place with alot of history in one spot, the owners have done a great job with so many artefacts on display. We will be back. And the kids loved it.
The venue does not have eftpos facilities.

This is the best local information centre I’ve been to. It’s more like a museum and gallery. The collection shows the rich history of Hill End and the technology tastefully brings it all to life. There’s something for all ages. Once you’re done head next door for a coffee at the cosy General Store.

A must place to visit whilst at Hill End. A lot of mining artifacts and provides visitors a historical insight of Hill End. It provides you with an idea how the village was like.
A recommended "must visit" before exploring Hill End.
Hidden gem in a very unassuming place.. entrance doesn’t do it justice but wow. The artefacts and that tunnel is fantastic and an amazing climb out to finish. It’s cash only so be sure to get cash from the Royal Hotel in Hill End

Great place, very interesting and informative! The museum is an absolute treasure trove and if you take the time to read the information above the displays it will take at least an hour or so. The owner has poured his heart and soul into this place and it deserves to be acknowledged and supported.

You could get lost in here for hours.. so much to see and read and the collection of artefacts and information around days gone by is amazing. Well worth a visit. Kids loved the mine and the ladder climb to get out... you can really imagine what it would have been like for the early miners. Fantastic value for $10 and you would be hard pushed to find better.

Excellent museum, extensive collection of interesting historical artefacts, informative video and self guided mine walk.
Nevill Inglis — Google review
We recently had the pleasure of experiencing an unexpected surprise visit to History Hill which turned out to be a fascinating journey through Australian and Gold history, even incorporating some Chinese aspects. The museum was a treasure trove of artifacts, exhibits, displays and rooms showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The museum also had an extensive collection of gold nuggets, coins, and other artifacts, highlighting the importance of gold in shaping Australia's economy and history. The exhibits provided a fascinating insight into the lives of the prospectors and the impact that the gold rush had on the Australian landscape and economy.
The museum had several exhibits that showcased the contributions of the Chinese miners, including their innovative mining techniques and their cultural traditions. It was eye-opening to see how the Chinese culture had influenced the development of the mining industry in Australia, and how they had adapted to life in a new and unfamiliar land.
Our unexpected visit to this local museum was an unforgettable experience. I was impressed by the breadth and depth of the exhibits, and the interactive displays made the history come alive.
We highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in Australian history, mining, or just looking for a fascinating and educational day out. Although it is looking a bit tired and dated, it is well worth going! But remember TAKE CASH! $10 per adult! But absolutely worth it! Seriously though, take cash. The whole town operates on cash (or gold if you're lucky enough to find it!).

Museum is nice and more entertaining than expected, even though there is lots of old junk like in many other similar places. I like that kind of stuff though and it has it's charm. Going through the mine is a true highlight, with several stretches of vertical steps at the other end. Definitely must visit in the area.

Unfortunately this location appears a little run down. There is definitely a lot of potential and some very interesting history to look at. I don't think this place is for everyone. It is a cash only entry so if you are intending on visiting then make sure you visit ATM prior.

Very interesting museum with amazing collections. The underground mine is exciting. The highlight is the ladder at the end of the mine.

Very interesting display of history, with an amazing mine which was built by hand. Even the teenagers had fun exploring History Hill. Definalty will return, due to the owners lovely demeanor and knowledge. Cash only but it is a country location and should be expected.

Great collection of artifacts and memorabilia. Could easily spend a couple of hours here. Clean amenities and nice views of the surrounding mining area. Bring light lunch and picnic in the grounds after your tour. The owner is a nice eccentric fella. Will recommend this place to everyone.

Great place to go and explore some history.
Some very cool items to look at my son loved looking at all the old artefacts and guns the mine was cool to go though.
The owner was lovely to talk to

A great museum that's chokka block full of fun facts, a mine !, dust, interesting artifacts and bric a brac. If you have school age children (or a school group) the main museum building looks like it was designed just for you. Though we are much older ... we enjoyed it too. 😁
Amazing steam engines you cannot find anywhere else in Australia. And all working! Sydney Power House museum does not compare if you are interested steam era. If you are even a bit interested in old engineering stuff or interested in history this is a must visit.
The kayak and equipment were in excellent condition, and the instructions provided beforehand ensured a smooth experience. The tour itself was conducted with genuine passion, combining both kayaking and an exploration of the area’s rich history.
If you’re someone who appreciates both the thrill of kayaking and a deeper understanding of the environment, I highly recommend supporting this tour.

The perfect way to enjoy these peaceful, pristine waters. Paddling by banks of rushes and towering rock walls was the best of natural relaxants, topping up our reserves of awe at the natural world. If you fancy drifting past electric-blue dragonflies while a duck calls in the distance, this could be for you. John and Cindy are welcoming and full of knowledge of both the spot and the wider region.

Absolutely loved this location. Did a day hike up to one of the peaks. Not difficult but good boots are recommended. Views are gorgeous but plenty of water is a must; it got quite hot climbing up on the rocks, not many trees up there! Staying in Mudgee, worth the trip out!

This is a beautiful hidden gem. No reservations mean that you can come last minute to enjoy the amazing wildlife and stunning scenery. You must go out on the water; bring your own or hire a kayak or paddleboard by the hour. Oh and bring an inflatable if you don't want to miss out on the fun! There are a few stunning bushwalks that take you over to the rock pagodas and to the dam. There are some Aboriginal rock art sites and creatures from lyrebirds to goannas to wallabies.
Facilities are basic, but that's why you're camping! There's no tap so bring plenty of water in with you. Perfect for families, the sites are level and there's firewood provided. Bring cash to pay your site fees and kayak rental.

Richard will transport you to France and back with an amazing tasting experience. Over two hours you’ll learn about the history of the vineyard, sample wines that resemble many of the famous French regions and know what the best food pairing are. It was hard to not walk out with a couple boxes of your favourites.

Amanda took us through a wonderful tasting and we learned so much about wine and how it is made and the Dr Beaurepaire story. We were glad to have taken the time out to visit this beautiful vineyard.
Kara Ramsay — Google review
I recently visited a winery that felt like it was plucked straight out of a heartwarming movie. Owned by Richard and his lovely family for 26 years, this charming place rests on rich limestone soil, imbuing their wines with unique character.
The family's warmth and hospitality were truly the highlight of my visit. Richard, Janette, Annabelle, Katie, Will, all contribute to making this winery a homely and welcoming spot. Annabelle, a lively presence, brings a delightful energy that resonates throughout the vineyard.
Each wine here tells a story, notably named after each family member. The 'Annabelle' stood out with its subtle yet profound flavors – a testament to the meticulous care put into every bottle.
What really fascinated me was their innovative use of laser technology as a bird deterrent – a futuristic touch in this rustic setting. It's not every day you see a vineyard embracing such novel methods to protect their precious grapes!
In summary, this family-run winery is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates fine wine, heartfelt hospitality, and a touch of technological ingenuity. A hidden gem that’s well worth the journey!

This winery is a definite to put on your must do list. Make sure you book first to get the most of your experience. It starts with a wonderful scenic drive through their vineyard, where you can get an appreciation of the passion and hard work that has gone into their single estate family vineyard. You'll be met at the door by the friendly family dogs, with garden views forever and then welcomed into the cellar door - usually by a member of the family. They definitely do things differently here to any winery you've been to before, so make sure you've booked an experience and you'll be guided through the unique French style wines grown on the estate. The family will share their passion and knowledge with you, it's an excellent experience for those wishing to learn more about wine. We were blown away by the superb wine, joined the wine club and now look forward to each delivery with much anticipation. You must go!

What a pleasant experience we had at De Beaurepaire Wines! Popped in and were greeted with two friendly faces. We took the self guided flight and sat at the lawn bar overlooking the beautiful surrounds. Walked away with a few bottles of fine French wine that left a lasting impression. Highly recommend the 'Aviatrix' Cabernet-Shiraz, you won't find another like it!

We had a spectacular taste at this first-rate winery with the owner, Richard. He takes you on a wonderful journey from France to Rylestone, explaining how the wines came to fruition. His depth of knowledge is impressive. When the taste is over, you can kick back with a bottle and cheese plate in their garden area which is thoroughly enjoyable. Well worth a visit if you’re in the Mudgee region. Highly recommended.

A fantastic experience. The wonderful tasting across their extraordinary range was all the more enjoyable with Richard's fun, informative commentary on wine, wine regions and the context and evolution of this winery. My partner and I had the pleasure of visiting De Beaurepaire Wines recently and it was one of the best experiences we’ve had. We booked the Voyage du vin experience and it was amazing! Richard was so welcoming and knowledgeable, it was really interesting to learn all about each wine we tasted and the terroir, it really feels like you’re sitting in France the whole time! The lawn area and surroundings are so picturesque and we enjoyed some cheese and wine in the sun afterwards. We left with a box of elegant wines and a great experience that I cannot recommend more!

A must visit in Rylstone, near Mudgee. De Beaurepaire family was friendly and welcoming. Richard took us on a trip to France. His knowledge and passion for wine made this cellar door tasting a truly unique experience. Best Pinot noir ever tasted in NSW. It is not a surprise that they won best small cellar door award. Definitely recommend.

The most beautiful French style wine in Australia. Amanda ran our Tours tasting which provided an overview of the range of wines produced by the vineyard. We were delighted by how informative she was not only about the wine we were trying but also the science behind planting various grape varieties, producing different styles of wine and so forth. Genuinely my favourite vineyard thus far. They also have the most polite puppers who greeted us as we walked in.

Richard wowed us with his knowledge at our Vigneron experience and the masterclass! We had a truly incredible time and are grateful to have enjoyed the elegant and delicious De Beaurepaire wines. The winery itself is gorgeous and family friendly, and their two pups Sasha and Scotch are just lovely.💕
A welcoming and great winery with some of the best views! Tastings are $10pp for your choice of a curated selection and refundable upon purchases. Make sure to grab a picnic mat to sit outside and soak in the amazing views. Will definitely return when we’re in the area.

One of the most enjoyable cellar door experiences in all of Australia:
The winemaker takes the tastings and is knowledgeable without being pretentious
The view is amazing
You can have a glass of wine on the hill after the tasting
They remove the tasting charge off if you buy a bottle of wine (like cellars doors used to do before Covid!!!)
It was the Easter weekend and they had a live acoustic artist and locale chef come in to make amazing seafood casual lunch options.
We loved every single wine we tried (but that’s up to personal preference).

Great little spot for an explore … don’t let a rainy/drizzly day put you off cos being in the gully, amongst the ferns as the water trickled down the walls and low flow streams wandered amongst the rocks really made it!
Really worthwhile walk with the odd rock to hop or fallen tree to climb over so need to be ready and able for that - kids of all ages would love it as would most active walkers.
Excellent views from the top as well to show the gully from above … and plan for a stop in Rylstone after … although we didn’t pick a good moment midweek to get a mid-afternoon coffee …
Go explore though!

Amazing walk through a shady fern covered gorge, followed by a board walk swampy area then another valley floor - all quite unusual & would not be out of place in a hobbit movie - then a long climb on the stairs before rounding the bend to a much drier climate & rocky surrounds for amazing views of the valley below. Definitely worth the trip!

Great wine and great food. We shared an antipasto platter that was made up from local produce. The 2 best wines for us were the Moscato and the Merlot. Being a wedding photographer and working at Burnbrae often, I knew I needed to get married here!
We chose Burnbrae, Not just because of their incredible wine and beer but because of the versatility. We really envisioned a wedding that was fully outside under the fairy lights and they didn’t disappoint! The fact that it also has an amazing wet weather option really made our decision final.
Dotty and the Burnbrae team were amazing to work with and made our wedding so much fun.
Nothing was ever an issue for Dotty and she was so helpful in every aspect of our day.
She literally made our wedding dreams come to life. All of our guests are still talking about how good the day was. We are so glad to have booked Burnbrae and it will always have a special place in our hearts.

Went to Bunbrae Estate over the Easter weekend and they were just over booked. Wedding of our dreams!!
We can't recommend highly enough having your wedding at Burnbrae.
We knew from the moment we got engaged that we wanted to book a venue in Mudgee that "felt like home", as though we were hosting everyone in the comfort and welcome of our own backyard and that is exactly the atmosphere that Dottie, Trine and everyone at Burnbrae gave us from the start.
Our guests haven't stopped raving about how happy the day was, and that is was "so us", which was executed due to the kindness and effort Burnbrae puts into executing the day how you envision it, with the utmost authenticity.
Thank you all, we look forward to popping in many more times to come to keep enjoying the delicious wines and good atmosphere!

Great shop, awesome tastings and lots of great products. Worth a visit.
Best winery out of the 10 we went to on our trip. The abundant tasting platter which matched with the wines was a nice touch which elevated the experience. Along with the great customer service and in-depth information, the entire experience was amazing. The wines were fantastic too, of course.

Wow I have no words to describe this place. Tony owns and runs this place and he is just so lovely. We did a tasting with complimentary food pairing and it was beyond our imagination. I've tried wines from all over Australia (literally) and this place was spectacular. Thank you Tony for introducing an avid red wine drinker to Chardonnay. I can't wait for my next wine delivery!!

We had the most amazing experience at Short Sheep! They were very accommodating and thoughtful with a tasting platter with matching snacks for every wine we tasted.
I would highly recommend this winery to anyone visiting Mudgee, it will not disappoint.

We came here two days in a row! We did the camp fire with wine tasting, toasted Marshmallows, Mulled wine and a delicious beef hot pot with baked potato for... only $30 per person!!! Such an amazing experience! The owners Sue and Tony were super friendly and full of life! We came back the next day to buy a few bottles their delicious wine. We also got to mingle with the resident cats (Truffles) and Ayra the Maremma 😊 If in the area I highly recommend you go in for a tasting!

What an absolutely delightful experience! Tony is so knowledgeable and passionate, and provides an experience very far from a simple 'wine tasting'.
We will definitely be back!

Lovely service, couple-owned winery who really took care of us. They have an intimate wine tasting experience with tasting platter to match during COVID. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Mudgee for the first time.

We visited this small winery and stayed in their accommodation back in 2015. Lovely couple who ran it and lovely time. Wines were good then. We just had a 2013 Syrah and the wine has become better with age, very smooth. Worth the wait to have this bottle. If you are in Mudgee this small winery is one that should be on your list.

Sue and Tony were the perfect hosts - from looking after my elderly parents to saving the day by retrieving my bouquet I left behind on my wedding day! Waking up to the glorious views of vines, sheep and surrounding hills helped make our time in Mudgee for our wedding special. Thank you Sue and Tony! David and Tracey 4-10-2018

Food pairing with wines was absolutely amazing! Takes you through a flavour bomb on both the wine and food front. How the flavours intertwine and the wine changes once combined is something else! Thanks Tony, legend

This was one of our favourite wineries/experiences in Mudgee. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner. We had an amazing tasting with some pairing bites to eat. The owner clearly cares and is passionate about the wine he produces. The wine was amazing, as was the experience of the wine tasting. We left there buying a few bottles of wine and we will definitely be keeping an eye out for what they do in the future.
The wine tasting was such a lovely experience from start to finish, customer service was also fantastic and the staff really took the time to explain the wines to us. Their selection tasted great and the winery grounds were absolutely beautiful on a summer's day. Easily the most beautiful winery in Mudgee and a must visit for a any visitors in the area.

We had a wonderful afternoon and would thoroughly recommend.
We did the Deluxe Picnic Hamper and added some wines on the day. All very easy to order online; though they were very well organised so you could do in-person. Food was delicious and very generous portions - good value for money.
Lots of beautiful gardens to wander and seating is spaced out to enjoy the scenes.

We had a wonderful day with our child and dog, we couldn't have felt more welcome. The two of us enjoyed the 6-course evening meal from start to finish. Unbeatably friendly and attentive service, top quality on the plate and a great atmosphere. The icing on the cake was that I was even allowed to take a bouquet of my favorite tea home with me. What a great place!

We had our wedding at Lowe’s and had the most wonderful day, better than we imagined. Emily and all the staff were friendly, professional, helpful, accomodating and we are so grateful for how they helped us reschedule our wedding and navigate covid. The food and wine are excellent and the photos are stunning! Our guests had a great time
Thank you for making our day a success we could not be happier!

It’s a beautiful winery well set up and also well organised with regards to the way they do their tastings: we were a walk in and had a great 90 minutes of walking around the various spots for our wine tasting and some food to nibble on.
The wine tasting host is fun and engaging. Bought a couple of their wines too. Excellent start to a mudgee experience

The testing experience here was great. Brian was nice & friendly host . They have ranges of vegan wines. The location was perfect & beautiful set up. I liked the picnic area & the garden , beautiful estate. Nice to get beautiful weather for photos opportunities. The wines are not my type but overall experience was great. I recommend anyone who visit Mudgee .

We went to Lowe's after reading a review for dog friendly wineries.
We arrived on a Sunday late morning the staff were amazing and helpful the wine was fantastic they asked a preference of our wine and adjusted the tasting for us and I'm fairly certain we were given more options than was offered on the $15 tasting menu with included a small cheese and baguette slices board and happily spent up on wine before we left would definitely go back and next book as weekends can get busy we were lucky to walk in it was a quiet day we stayed for close to 2 hours enjoying the view and wine

Breathtakingly beautiful winery. Every direction of the winery has stunning views. The service is friendly and informative. The wines are some of the best in the region. A definite must if you're in the area.

Hands down one of the best wine tasting experiences we've ever had. Truly entertaining, delicious and you get a real feel that everyone that works here wants to share their passion with you. I know you only say you're the 2nd best in the area but we went to the competition (it was pants).

We joined my brother & his wife at Zin House for lunch! 😋 We had our own private room which was great. A bit pricey for what you get but it was a great experience. We finished off at Lowe Cellar where David Lowe sat us for a last minute wine tasting even though they were closing. We enjoyed the hospitality, David made the time to chat with us even though there was a wedding in their vineyard that day and they were so busy! 🙏😍

Lowe Family Wine is a beautiful vineyard. They have a large property with lots of seating areas and a lake. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. On the property there is also a chapel and some emus.

WOW! What a pleasure to have stumbled across this family owned winery. This is my first go in Australia and I’ve got to say, this wine exceeded anything else I’ve tasted while traveling the last few months.
The warm welcomes, education on process, generosity in tastings, phenomenal flavor profiles, and especially fun energy from the entire staff, I couldn’t be happier I visited. Left with a couple bottles, the Cabernet Franc has herbaceous rich notes that we are eager to pair with a delicious steak dinner soon. Never had a Cab like it. What an impression, I’ve made sure to keep this place in my winery references for other friends! Thank you!

We had a lovely experience on Australia Day at Lowe Wines. As club members we were about to bring a few friends for a complimentary tasting and we were even treated to a behind the scenes tasting straight from the barrels!
Thank you so much Brian and David!

I have visited and tested more than 15 wineries in NSW, but this one is the worst. We booked our slot three days before going there. They told us to wait outside until they had free tables, and we waited for almost an hour. Then they asked us to wait for an additional 40 minutes or make an online payment for a bottle. Frustrated, we left without experiencing any wine tasting and ended up paying an extra $10 for the bottle. We came all the way from Sydney for this, and it completely wasted and ruined our journey that day. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Robert Stein Winery & Vineyard is a picturesque winery in Mudgee that boasts of a tasting shop, picnic area and vintage motorbike museum. The winery has won several awards for its exquisite wines such as Reisling. Despite some wineries being closed during Christmas holidays, Robert Stein Winery & Vineyard remained open for wine tasting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their wines which makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Visitors can purchase good quality wines after the tasting session.
Best cellar door we tried in Mudgee. All the wines had distinct flavours and lived up to their reputation and tasting notes. Anita was very friendly and accommodating and made the whole family feel welcomed. Favourite was the Sparkling Pinot Noir and Shiraz Riesling.

Since we went in Christmas holidays. Most wineries were closed. On a friend’s recommendation we had gone here for a wine tasting. The restaurant was shut but we did the wine tasting. Staff is friendly, attentive and had good knowledge about the wines. We bought few good wines after the tasting. They have won awards for few of their wines like Reisling. If you are in Mudgee. This winery is a must try. They also have a vintage motorbike museum .

We stopped for a bit of wine tasting today at the Robert Stein winery, and what a delight that turned out to be. The wine was delicious and Jeff who served us was wonderful! He explained each wine beautifully and made us laugh ! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you for the beautiful wine, and Jeff, for the great banter!! We will be back tomorrow for lunch 👏👏

My wife and I visited Robert Stein winery twice over the past weekend. Not only was the wine absolutely fantastic but the service we received from Anita was easily the stand out of our whole trip. Her knowledge of the wines we tasted and the welcoming way she looked after us was second to none. Well done Robert Stein winery on finding someone as good as this.

Fantastic wine tasting today! Anita was so friendly and knowledgeable about the wines we tasted, food pairings and the business. The history of the winery, the working farm and produce from the Berkshire pigs such as prosciutto and truffle salami. Can highly recommend.

A must visit to this award winning winery and the hospitality of the staff. Sarah the manager was looking after us and her honesty, candidness and hospitality really was enchanting. She made our visit fun, was engaging and really listed to what we wanted to taste. An absolute pleasure and thank you for the fun afternoon.

What a great place to sit, chill and contemplate which Riesling is best… From the moment Sarah greeted us at the start, we knew our experience was going to be first class. Then Geoff took it to another level! His attentiveness and knowledge of the wines and the region really elevated our tasting experience - enough for us to walk away with a bottle of their flagship 2017 Reserve Riesling. Thanks for making our visit special.

Extended family attended the annual footcrush at Robert Stein winery and had a blast.
Afterwards, we sampled some of their award winning wines at the cellar door whilst enjoying a chacuterie board of small goods produced from the farm .
We were definitely not disappointed and will add it as an annual pilgrimage to catch up with siblings.

Lovely winery with lovely hosts. Only vineyard I've found that has a 2020 vintage red due to bushfires. Actually had a very unique smokiness. Definitely a great place to visit

Great little place, we had a wine tasting ($10 pp) which allows you to choose 6 of thier wines for a flavour flave.
We also got the cheese board platter thing, there were 2 options, big ($40) and small ($20). We got the small which had a nice little assortment of goodies on there to nibble at.
Some standouts for us with the wine were the organic Shiraz and dry resling. They did have a number of decent other ones in the selection too.
They also have a cool little motorbike museum out the back as well that has a decent collection of vintage motor bikes, war memorabilia and licence plates...
Worth a visit when travelling through.

Sensational wines and lovely hosts. They welcomed our large group even without a booking and we had 3 dogs which they were more than happy to accommodate us.
Cj — Google review
Pretty good wines, cute dogs but unwelcoming service. Host there seems interested in hosting only select customers, not sure why. Left without completing the wine tasting as we didn't want to spend anymore time being ignored. A positive is that the host seemed to acknowledge this shortcoming and waived the tasting fee.
So visit at your own risk and hope that you are considered important enough to be attended to.

Great selection of reds and whites. Some really interesting wines like their sparkling Shiraz which was new and refreshing. I tasted my favourite ever white wine being their half dry Riesling. Amazing atmosphere and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend to anyone come here for wine tasting in the Mudgee area. I will be back!

4.5 stars.!
Well positioned half way up a shallow hill with lovely views. A few v.good wines and one magnificent Riesling/ 2016 (sadly out of our price range).
Our "Kellnerin" provided good info... & with a sense of humour. Early start is the trick:)
Stein organic small goods (Chilli salami =brilliant) were our favourite of the day and we took a good bundle home...100% recommend.
The Motorbike museum was a great addition.
Vielen Dank für einen Schönen tag Schmeckend.

Lovely tasting plate which we shared and wine. The outlook lovely but there was only 1 staff member who was so busy trying to do everything. Could have had atleast 1 more staff working to cater for the customers.
