Hue Historic Citadel, a royal palace located within the expansive walled complex of the forbidden city, is a significant cultural site in Vietnam. The citadel is home to the Hue Royal Traditional Theatre of Arts, where artists perform traditional plays for visitors and local authorities. While many tourists tend to focus on the Imperial City and royal tombs during their visit to Hue, there is much more to explore beyond these major sites.
Would definitely recommend a visit here. Lots of beautiful temples and gardens to see and take pictures of. Lots of history to learn while walking around. The tour offers an audio set before entering as well which is useful when walking around the grounds. You can spend the whole day walking around because it’s so big !

Fantastic place. I loved how quiet it was, meant you could get good photos & not feel rushed through it. It’s not as big as it looks so is quite manageable. The gardens were very beautiful.
Note: If you want to go in the temple you will need to dress modestly, no shorts or strappy tops.

A beautiful place where you can learn a lot about the emperors that lived there during french occupation. Some interesting testimony of the colonial time and nice gardens too

We arrived at 9.50am and left at 11.15am. It is a big compound showing what is left of the Citadel after the war. There is little shelter between buildings, and so it is advisable to bring an umbrella to fend off the sun. It is a historical place, but not overly impressive. A guided tour is recommended to appreciate the history and significance of some of the buildings and rooms.

Stunningly quiet, large ancient palace. Great easy walks around the grounds and visits to several temples dedicated to the nine dynastic emperors. Evidence of the Vietnam war is fairly minimal and the beauty of the gardens is complemented by the bonsai garden

Absolutely Stunning Architecture
Great to walk around the grounds as a tourist admiring the complexity of this historic place.
Lots of culture, history and effort poured into maintaining such importance history of Vietnam.
A MUST SEE WHEN IN HUE
We were here in march, very hot, make sure to wear a hat and Suncream
There are vending machines for cold drinks including water, which was needed
Very wonderful piece of learning here

An amazing place to visit, recommended to anyone in the area. The once imperial home of royalty of Vietnam. It does has some damage from the American war during the 60 - 70s but is still very impressive and is slowly being fully restored to its former glory

The Citadel is a very beautiful place to visit and was much larger than expected. My group spent two hours there and didn’t see all of it. Unfortunately one of the main buildings was closed due to restoration but there was still plenty to see.
There is an arts and crafts shop which was lovely and we had the opportunity to make some incense. They also run workshops there and would recommend checking it out.

Super HUGE. Prepare yourself with walking. Crowded on weekends but it’s ok. Amazing place and a must see if you’re in Hue. Should spare around 3 hrs. The combination tickets with the tombs is cheaper.

A wonderful place in Hue with beautiful architecture, as far as I can tell the main attraction. I loved the mix of restored and unrestored buildings. It’s a huge complex that takes probably 2-3 hours to completely cover. Really wanted to see the shows in the theater but missed them the day we went. Highly recommend a visit here if in Hue!

We had a group tour from Da Nang to her ( 870.000 Vietnam Dong). It took almost 2 hours to arrive. It is a nice place where you can get an idea about the history of Vietnam.Very nice gardens. Most of the buildings have been destroyed during the war. The restoration process is going on.
Özlem TUNÇ DEDE — Google review
Be prepared to spend 2 hours wandering around the huge complex. The buildings are located quite far apart from each other. Signage is relatively poor and directions are often confusing.
A lot of construction work is on-going. Some of the buildings are not as well maintained (roof tiles falling off), with many bullet-ridden walls from the Vietnam War. Still, a beautiful place to visit and one of Vietnam's most important cultural heritage.

I really enjoyed the Royal lake and the gardens. Lots of wonderful bonsai here as well. I spent a little over 2 hours here on a Monday afternoon - was very peaceful and serene walking around, especially near the back away from the main entrance.

Lots of history and things to learn. Pretty places as well. Just be careful as it closes at 5pm, so give yourself enough time (2-3hours minimum) to explore. May be good to take food and drink in with you.

So beautiful. Love the architecture, the tree, the water. It can be very hot during summer though. We visited at perfect weather.

We have visited this on weekdays and there was no rush at all. Weather was too hot and it's become difficult to roam there. Carry umbrella and water. It is nice place to see history. If you are interested to visit historical place then it will require 2 - 3 hours by max to explore this. Ticket price is 200.000 VND per person.

A must see. Hué thanks to the Imperial City and all the Emperors burial sites has some of the most astonishing historical sites in the whole Vietnam.
You need at least a full day or even 2 to visit most of the sites.
I spend 1 day (3h Imperial city and 5h for 3 burial sites, the abandoned water park, a viewpoint with bunkers).
Prices vary but you can buy a combo ticket for the city and 2 or more tombs.

Recommend, just allow for 2-3 hrs + to be able to fit it all in. It's a large area full of various buildings, gardens etc. Very beautiful & majestic understandably. Lots of random buildings but also for eg Royal Theatre that are amazing buildings, & must see's!

The Hue Citadel is a must-see for anyone visiting Hue, Vietnam. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important historical landmarks in the country. The citadel is a sprawling complex of palaces, temples, gardens, and other structures, all surrounded by a massive wall.
I was particularly impressed by the scale and grandeur of the citadel. It is clear that the Nguyen Dynasty, which ruled Vietnam at that time, invested a great deal of time and resources into building and maintaining this impressive complex.
Some of the highlights of the citadel include:
- The Ngo Mon Gate, also known as the Meridian Gate, is the main entrance to the citadel. It is a massive gate with five arches, each of which represents a different social class.
- The Thai Hoa Palace was the throne room of the Nguyen emperors. It is a large and impressive building with a golden roof and intricate carvings.
- The Imperial Garden is a beautiful garden with a variety of flowers, trees, and ponds. It is a great place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
Tips for visiting:
1. The citadel is a large complex, so it is best to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Bring a hat and sunscreen, as it can get quite hot in the sun.
2. There are several restaurants and cafes inside the citadel, but it is also a good idea to bring your own snacks and drinks.
3. There are English-speaking tour guides available, which can be helpful for learning more about the history of the citadel.
4. Allow at least 3-4 hours to visit the entire citadel.
Hanif Noer Rofiq — Google review
A modest sized citadel. It’s interesting to see 19th century Vietnamese architecture. However, most buildings have been destroyed during the war. The ones that remain contain a lot of new interior and exterior refurbishments. So it’s not clear if what we see is modern or old. Still worth a visit to see imperial life.

Very extensive set of well restored temples and royal government buildings. Good interpretive panels in Vietnamese, French, and English. Pretty remarkable given the damage incurred during the French & American wars!

Beautiful place that is well worth the visit. If you’re in town for a day, this should definitely be checked out.
Lots of culture, history and effort poured into maintaining such an importance part of Vietnam. Word of advice: we visited in mid-April and were scorched by the sun so make sure to carry water (there are cafes here too), sunscreen and sunglasses along with a cap to protect against the sun.
Expect to do lots of walking and reading of the various pieces of history scattered about

Nothing much to see with construction sites inside. No shorts are allowed to enter into the temple. Enjoyed to music from this group of ladies. Ticket Price 200,000 VND. The electric bus inside needs to be paid. We, 3 persons, 300,000 VND. Later found out that it was doubled the normal price.

The just place to visit . They keep restoring the buildings to preserve this historic landmark. Be prepared for 2 hours of walking around, bring hat & water. There are a few cafes and public toilets dotted around. You can either get a guide or pay for audio guide. I used self-guided tour on GPSmyCity app.

Loved this place! So many views of old buildings. Learnt the history as well. You can easily enter this place. Plenty of tickets to buy there (not required to buy online). However, please approach their staff prior to purchasing. As the bundled packages shown are for other places other than this Hue Citadel. Meaning you need to travel to another place via car.

Exploring the Hue Historic Citadel was an unforgettable journey back in time. The sprawling complex, with its majestic palaces, grand temples, and imposing walls, offers a vivid glimpse into Vietnam's royal past. The intricate details and the serene gardens within the citadel provided a peaceful respite from the bustling city. It's a testament to the cultural richness and architectural prowess of the Nguyen Dynasty. A visit here is essential for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Vietnam's history and heritage.
Vinh Moc Tunnel Museum is a remarkable complex of tunnels that served as a refuge for over 90 families during the Vietnam War. This underground village, located in Dong Ha, was not only used as bomb shelters but also housed a school, hospital, and theater. The tunnels are well-preserved and offer visitors an immersive experience into the lives of the people who sought shelter there. Exploring the tunnels can be surprising and hiring a tour guide is recommended for those unfamiliar with directions.
These tunnels are fascinating and whilst date the Museum brings it to life. It’s included as part of the ticket.

Annam Tour is a reputable travel agency that provides exceptional tour services. Their knowledgeable and fluent English-speaking guide, Mr Vu, specializes in military history and is highly recommended for enthusiasts. Clients have had a fantastic time on their tours with Annam Tour and express their gratitude for the great experience provided by Mr Vu. This travel agency has been praised for its outstanding service and professionalism, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to explore Vietnam's rich cultural heritage.
Mr. Vu is an excellent tour guide. We did a day trip from Hue to the DMZ and tunnels. Even though our background knowledge about the vietnam war was limited, he took the time to explain everything in detail and did not get tired of answering our many questions. His tablet with extra pictures was a big help, since the museums are a bit basic. His car, a Ford SUV, was in very good shape and comfy. His driving was very smooth and safe, even for European standards.

We had an amazing private tour with Vu. After we arrived in Dong Ha, Vu very kindly gave up his day off to bring us on our tour. We learned so much about how the war in Vietnam impacted people living in the DMZ. Vu brought us to the Vinh Moc Tunnells which are an amazing piece of history and architecture. Vu has great English I would highly recommend him to anyone wishing to do a tour of the DMZ.
J B — Google review
We recommend Annam Tour. Mr Vu is a fantastic guide having fluent English and deep knowledge about the DMZ and the war itself. He makes that your imagination brings you to the times of war. With Mr Vu each hill and square of the DMZ has its own history. In addition, Mr Vu shows historical photos on a tablet which is an added value. Finally, he uses a good quality car which is an advantage over other tours. For sure worth the price.

The siege at Khe Sahn was one of the abiding memories of my childhood and I've wanted to visit for the last 50 years at least.
Arriving here after a two day motorbike ride from Danang felt like making a dream into reality so that I was able to pay homage to the young Marines who fought and died here. If they'd been able to see the future and see Vietnam as it is today, would they have volunteered their lives so cheaply?

It's nice seeing war relics off last century still in standing. If you wanna feel small, stand next to these steel giants and be in awed.
Sitting on top of a hill, it's mind niggling with the amount of trees around that this place was used as a airport during the Vietnam War.

Small museum and only few exhibits but interesting to see and learn about the war, albeit everything is totally biased, described from North Vietnam point of view (liberation army, the shining winner), and the South Vietnam & US are the enemy, which in the end is 'helpless' and 'in agony').
Don't try the coffee at the entrance, it is 20k and I had much better coffee for half the money!

This could be a very interesting place to visit in order to understand some major episodes of the Vietnam War. But unfortunately, the poor maintenance of the museum and the lack of historical content around the relics/ pictures/.. doesn't really make it worth the detour, or at least not without a private tour guide. It is considered that the Stupa shelters the most ancient Buddha's relics in the northeast of Thailand
This Stupa of 57 meters high is made of composite material. The Wat is highly frequented and respected by Thai people. It is considered as representing the essence of buddhism and an architectural wonder, with laotian influence.

A beautiful a wonderful monument to show a large part of the culture of Thai and Issan Buddhism. The reason for a 4 star is the pure amount of "sellers" of photos. Firstly this is a very large complex with many different areas. Parking is best found on the Western side. Parking in the complex is not allowed. Secondly allow many hours to visit as there a hundreds of Buddha statues in every form and colour, and worship places. Thirdly don't get lost - get a map and mark off the areas you have been and where you want to go.
Apart from many tourists and worshipers, there are many Monks available at places around the Temples and places of worship. Some speak good English.
The complex is very well maintained, clean and tidy. There are many sitting and walking areas through shaded areas. Feel safe here because there are police walking the area.

The Ho Kaeo Mukdahan is a heritage tower standing at 215-feet tall, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the area from its glass viewing deck. The ascent to the top involves roughly 250 steps until the rondel and another 50 steps until the dome. Although the elevator was out of operation, climbing up was worth it for the stunning panoramic view over Mukdahan and Laos across the river.

So it is not bad but you'll get a better view at the buddha statue nearby. The elevator was not working so that's also kind of a tough walk up. The top floor was also in works with nothing special but the sacredness of the statue is good reason for devotees to come. Free

Visiting the tower is worth a visit for a panoramic view of the Mekong River and countryside. There’s also some information of historical sites to see. On the main floor are some old artifacts and historical information. (80 baht for foreigners/ 50 baht for Thais.)
Sadly, old vacant buildings, debris and garbage surrounds the outside perimeter of the grounds which should be removed.

Wat Phra That Choeng Chum Woriwihan is a popular and significant temple located in the heart of Sakol Nakhon. It boasts a stunning gold-tipped stupa that houses the footprints of various Buddha incarnations, making it a must-visit for those interested in Buddhism. The temple is meticulously maintained and resembles more of a museum than an active place of worship. Phra That Choeng Chum is a major and sacred religious monument on the eastern side of Sakhon Nakhon in the grounds of Phra That Choeng Chum temple. The structure is rectangular and made with mortar and bricks reaching a height of 24 meters. If you look carefully at a ten-satang coin, you will see it featured on the reverse side.
Sakhon Nakhon was a major city in the Khmer Empire of Khotraboon, and its glory days were between the 12th and 16th centuries. Today the city of Sakhon Nakhon does not hold much for the tourist but Wat Phra That Choeng Chum Worrawiharn is well worth inspection.
Close to the vast Nong Han Lake in Sakhon Nakhon, Wat Phra That Choeng Chum was originally a 10th century Khmer monastery. Today the temple is highly revered as it is believed that the four incarnations of the Buddha came to this location and pressed their footprint in the soil here. The chedi was built to cover the footprints of the four Buddha's.
The temple derives its name from the Phra That Choeng Chum Chedi and is an important pilgrimage site for Thai Buddhists plus a magnet for the local population. In addition to the Chedi are several other attractive buildings, including a wooden temple that is under construction at the time of writing (27 March 2016) which sits inside an octagonal pond.
There are the standard Naga snakes, temple guardians in the form of Chinese style lions, gold leaf decoration everywhere and a couple of attractive floral arrangements that utilise some traditional Thai carts. The majority of what is on view is inside a reasonably large compound which is kept very neat and tidy, but there is more to see outside the main compound where there is a car park and market.
When we arrived, we were treated to a traditional Thai dance by 75 ladies, presumably from Sakhon Nakhon. It looked as though it was a rehearsal for a later festival as they were dressed very casually. Once they had finished their dance they were incredibly friendly and inquisitive about this ferang that was wondering around the compound which I found a little surprising but pleasing at the same time. Seeing a ferang is especially rare in this part of Issan as a number of ex-pats have settled down here with their Thai lady.
Because the temple grounds are particularly impressive it can be quite easy to forget that there are further sights inside some of the buildings. While there is nothing exceptional about the interiors they are worth a look.
For a person that enjoys unique architecture, this Buddhist temple is complex in its design and massive. Unfortunately when you walk all around the grounds and inside the 3 levels, you realize it is not completed yet. It is sad to see the structures already deteriorating from neglect ( maintenance is usually not considered in Thai buildings… allow it to fall apart, then build new😓) I couldn’t help but think of the millions and millions of dollars that could have gone towards helping the needy, sick, & improve one’s education. ) Let’s hope this wat is some day completed and maintained. 🙏
( btw… I’d be happy to pay 100 baht entrance fee in order to have the spot lights on inside in order to admire the intricate details of the interior.)

The Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol or the Great, Victorious and Auspicious Pagoda is one of the largest Chedi's ( pagoda ) in Thailand. It is located on the grounds of the Wat Pha Namthip Thep Prasit Vararam, a temple complex in Roi Et province in rural North Eastern Thailand. This huge chedi is 101 meters long, 101 meters wide and 101 metres high and was built on a plot measuring 101 Rai, which is about 40 acres. The number 101 comes from the name of the province it is located in, Roi Et, which means 101 in Thai. The Chedi, which is also known as Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkhon is highly revered in Roi Et province, since relics of the Buddha are contained in the top of the pagoda. The fairly new chedi was designed by the Department of Fine Arts, and was built to serve as a centre of learning for Buddhist monks. The very elegantly shaped chedi is painted in white colour and very elaborately decorated in golden coloured artwork in modern style. Surrounding the chedi are eight smaller pagodas. The finial on top of the chedi is made of 60 kilos of pure gold. The Chedi and temple are located on top of Nam Yoi cliff, from where you will have a wonderful view of the surrounding rural area.
How to get to Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol; ~
The Phra Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol in the Wat Pha Namthip Thep Prasit Vararam temple complex is located in Nong Phok district, some 80 kilometres from Roi Et town. Getting to the Chedi by public transportation from Roi Et town could be a hassle, by far the most convenient and comfortable option is to hire an air conditioned car with driver to take you there. Most hotels will be able to arrange one for you. Agree on the price before leaving.
Admission & opening hours The Chedi is open daily from 6 am until 5 pm. Entrance fee is 20 Baht per person.
Roi Et is one of the provinces orChangwats of Thailand, located in the North East of Thailand. Neighbouring Provinces are Kalasin, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Sisaket, Surin and Maha Sarakham.
The Name Roi Et translates to 101, which refers to the original 11 satellite cities around the main city as well as the 11 city gates. To express the importance of the city the number was exaggerated.
Most part of the province is covered by plains about 130-160 metres above sea level, drained by the Chi River. In the north of the province are the hills of the Phu Phan mountain range, with the Yang River as the major river. In the south is the Mun River, which also forms the boundary to the province of Surin. At the mouth of the Chi River, where it enters the Mun River, a big flooded basin provides a good rice farming area.
The area of the province was already settled during the times of the Khmer empire as several ruins show. However, the main history of the province began when Lao people from Champasak settled near Suwannaphum during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. King Taksin moved the city to its present site, then called

Very beautiful Buddhist Temple, that sit on a mountainside, it’s has a great views of all the surrounding area. The main temple itself has 4 levels and a roof top. Access to these level can be done by the stairs or elevator but the main roof top can only be access by stairs (these stairs can be scary).

One of the better Thai temple exoeriences by far. The wall around the proprty is great for picturesque views and panaromic shots. The air was crisp and fresh just after a recent rain. The grounds of the tempke have plenty of realky interesting features like the golden monks lined up along the inside wall or the multihead serpeants at the entrance. Incredible terraced level temple inside with several levels of budhas to pray and a death defying spiral staircase to the top with valuable trinkets, crystal balls and a faint glimpse into your future.
Highly recommended.

This is one of our favorite places to bring visitors. We also come on a very regular basis for the coconut ice cream -served in a coconut with all you can scoop sprinkles and peanuts. These shops also have coconut water - which is so very necessary in the heat of Thailand. It’s also a great place to stop for any shopping you might need to do. Lots of local wood products, skirts, musical instruments, and local t-shirts, as well. All sorts of local snacks can be found here too.
Of course the chedi itself is amazing. It’s still a work in progress, but it is stunning! It is handicap friendly most of the time, but the last two times I was there the elevator was broken.
My favorite part is the wall that surrounds the chedi. It’s a gorgeous walk in the morning. The view over the valley is stunning. There are also bathrooms right in the wall, so you don’t have to go far!

วัดผาน้ำทิพย์เทพประสิทธิ์วนาราม, Nong Phok, Nong Phok District, Roi Et 45210, Thailand
The Sirindhorn Museum is a natural history exhibition featuring locally discovered dinosaur fossils and informative panels geared towards children. The museum surprised visitors with its spacious layout and detailed information provided in both English and Thai. Despite some broken interactive displays, kids thoroughly enjoyed the visit which could easily last up to two hours. The museum is larger than nearby Phu Wiang and even offers access to the actual dig site just 200m away.
The museum and the dig site are all in the grounds of the temple. The museum has a large carpark. I have read that fossil bones were first found here in 1994 by a monk from the temple after several days of heavy rain had washed lots of soil away. The museum is very professional and most things are well presented in Thai and English - highly recommended 👌

Indeed a nice museum giving good information about dinosaur. The locally found parts should be exposed more clearly.
During my visit, numerous school classes were running through the museum, and I got the impression that the kids did not have too much interest.
A place with double pricing does not get more than one star.
Jukka Schärlund — Google review
If I were between the ages of 7-11, you probably couldn’t get me out of that place. For children, it’s likely a place of wonder and discovery, far beyond the printed books in my old school library. The museum was founded in 1995 by HRH Princess Sirindhorn who visited and also established the Phu Kum Khao Dinosaur Museum. Later, they even named a local dinosaur after her.
This is a highly recommended attraction, not only for Thai school children, but for Western tourists, as the exhibits are clearly written in uncomplicated Thai and English. While geared for education, adults can pick something up as well.
We had a great time. A jewel of Kalasin Province!
Mark Cogan — Google review
Surprising bigger than I thought, well laid out, lots of detailed information in both English and Thai. My kids really love it, but too bad many of the interactive displays are broken.
If your kids really love dinosaurs, you can probably spend a hour or two easily. This museum is much bigger than the other one nearby at Phu Wiang, much more to see. You can walk up to the actual dig site about 200m away.
The are expanding and adding another building and exhibition up front which should be finished early next year.
Cost of entrance is 40.00 Baht for an adult, and free for kids, well worth it.

I am disappointed with the Sirindhorn Museum after our recent visit with a university group. We took the time to call and made prior arrangements, specifically mentioning that we were composed of international and thai students studying in Thailand wishing to visit the museum. We were informed that the entrance would be free for students and we only needed to issue a formal letter from the university. We provided the necessary documents.
However, upon arrival, we were told to pay the full adult foreigner price. It was a complete disregard for the prior arrangements we had made and this was not communicated to us. Not even a discount was provided.
This experience left us feeling misled and frustrated. We traveled for almost 6 hours only to be met with such a situation. So this was extremely disappointing.

The proverbial 'must-do' when one is staying in Kalasin province, is to skip out of the city centre and head to Non Buri (about a half hour drive from the downtown / CBD) to check out the amazing Srindorn Musuem. Plenty to see and experience here, with appeal to patrons both young and old. Ample car parking, friendly staff and interesting, well put together modern interactive, as well as ancient archaeological displays. Definitely a must-see tourist attraction (see my YouTube), in the area.

They keep improving this place, it is now a world class museum. It is well worth coming here. The detailed exhibitions are in two languages and it is very extensive. The spacious layout of the museum makes it easy to walk around and get close to the exhibitions.

Khon Kaen walking street is a vibrant market that offers a more relaxed and authentic Thai-style shopping experience compared to other touristy markets. The festive atmosphere is enhanced by Chinese lanterns adorning the entire market, where local sellers offer handmade items like photo frames, t-shirts, handbags, and postcards. The market features separate zones for consumer products and seasonal food, with fair prices and a diverse range of goods.

Wat Nong Wang (วัดหนองแวง) is Khon Kaen city’s biggest, most important temple, and also its one must-see tourist attraction. It was founded in 1789, the same year the city was settled, though there are no old buildings left. It became a royal temple in 1984. About 55 monks and 225 novices live here.
It’s ordinary in most regards, except for the stunning nine-story Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon, a stupa unlike any other in Thailand. Many of the links below take you to other articles explaining the art in detail.
Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon
The ground floor is open 6am-5pm and floors 2-9 are open 8am-4.30pm.
Phra Mahathat Kaen Nakhon stupa was built to celebrate both the king’s golden jubilee (celebration of 50 years on the throne) and the two hundredth birthday of Khon Kaen city. It is 50m long on the side and 80m tall and has nine floors because he was King Rama 9. Construction was started in 1990 and it was inaugurated in 1996.
The idea for the stupa came from the highly respected Luang Paw Koon Kantigo, the then abbot. The design was inspired by the Eiffel Tower and the Shwedagon Pagoda, both of which he saw while travelling. The most important of the abbot’s ideas, however, is the stupa’s curved shape, chosen to be that made by a hanging fishing net – called a catenary curve in physics.
People’s ashes are kept in the stupas at each of the four corners and the naga-topped wall around the stupa. Before construction, when this area was still rice field, a naga came to tell a high-ranking monk in a dream that there was a naga breathing hole where the stupa was going to be built. So, the stupa was built about 10m from the original intended location and these naga were incorporated into the design.
The shape of the top part of the stupa was inspired by Phra That Kham Kaen stupa (notice the redented corners) north of the city and has a golden-colored vine pattern similar to that on the very important Phra That Phanom stupa in Nakhon Phanom province.
Ground Floor
The temple’s center of activity is the stupa’s ground floor, which has a Buddha relic inside a chamber with a nine-spired roof. Next to it is a life-like resin statue of Luang Paw Koon Kantigo, the previous abbot (Unusual, because these are normally made after an abbot has died, but this one was put here many years before.), and in the back is a copy of the Chinnarat Buddha (from Phitsanulok); two copies of Phra Kaew (the Emerald Buddha), one green and one orange; and a baby Buddha. They are facing west, rather than the usual east, because the original Chinnarat Buddha also faces west.
Along the northern wall is a table with 108 alms bowls (for donating 108 coins) and another full of daily Buddhas. The number 108 was important in ancient India and so it is found in many Buddhist stories, most importantly the 108 signs of perfection to show that he was the Buddha – this is also why there are often 108 symbols on the soles of many large Buddha footprints.

One of my favourite Temples in Thailand and definitely in the city of Khon Kaen. This Temple is a Khon Kaen land mark and tourist destination. It hosts 9 levels each with artworks, artefacts, shrines, and information much like a museum. Each level represents the ascension to enlightenment and there is a 360 degree view of the surrounding city on every level. The ground floor is the main floor where locals come to greet the monks and pray. I really like this Temple because of its beautiful architecture and surrounding grounds, the view of the city from each level, the artworks, artefacts and information scattered all around. Artworks include paintings that depict traditional every day Thai life, correct behaviour as taught by the scriptures as well as the story of the life of the The Buddha carved into the doors and window shutters. It is easy to spend a whole day here getting lost wandering around discovering new area's while viewing the surrounding city from one of the best vantage points in Khon Kaen.

This circuit in Buriram, Thailand is a very special track and presents all sorts of challenges to the riders, from very hot temperatures to pouring rain in the blink of an eye. We really enjoyed this years MotoGP. One or two issues that we encountered were, the lack of product for riders, I wanted a BB33 shirt, cap or flag...nothing. Also the prices were ridiculously expensive and very prohibitive, but the biggest problem for us was the inability of the organisers to erect stands which were effective....on qualifying day we were on the permanent stand which was no problem however on race day, in order to be closer to the action, we were on the temporary stand. Due to the design of the canvas roof of this stand, which was littered with holes, this presented little shelter against the rain when it came and boy did it pour...we were soaked.

The Phimai Historical Park is a rectangular temple complex filled with intricate carvings and stone sculptures. It is an impressive Khmer ruin located in Thailand, known for its grand scale and detailed designs. Built as a Mahayana Buddhist temple, it features carvings of Hindu deities and design elements similar to those found in Angkor Wat.
This place was stunning!
I remain amazed - after visiting ancient ruins in other countries - how much of this complex was accessible to the public. There’s not really anything off limits, and only the normal rules binding visitors to decency in a holy site.
The structures are all incredible, and the details truly ornate. Plan at least a couple of hours to wander and soak it all in.
There is a higher density of visitors here than some of the other sites we’ve visited, but for good reason.
It’s an amazing feat of human engineering, and something worth witnessing first-hand.

I would recommend Phimai Historical Park to anyone interested in history, culture, or architecture. It is a truly impressive site that is well worth a visit.
Specific comments about your suggestions:
The parking is very limited. I would recommend parking at the main entrance and walking to the temple. The walk is about 10 minutes and is a great way to get a feel for the park.
The entrance fee is 20 baht per person for Thai nationals and 100 baht per person for foreigners.
The museum on site is a great place to learn more about the park and the Khmer people. It is well worth a visit if you have time.

Historical park, set in the town of Phimai (Prasat Hin Phimai) is definitely worth a visit. You can experience the remains of a Khmer style temple without having to leave Thailand. I have been to Angkor Wat (in Cambodia), and the similarities are amazing. This is considered the largest Khmer temple in all of Thailand.
Great attraction to visit if you are exploring north eastern provinces. There are strange shapes of rocks to see and study. You can see the beautiful sunset here and also this is a very nice place for camping.

I walked around the area it was so beautiful and it’s not so far from the camping site about 1-2 km away from there. There are so many shapes of rock. It is so amazing to see such “andscape. I recommend to go there in the morning or late afternoon when the weather is not so hot. There are also some pavilions that you can take a rest and have a picnic there.

Looks like stone henge. You can walk around the area which takes around 15-30 minutes to walk and take photos. Car park and toilet available. This area is outside national park vicinity so it is free to park and look around.

Thao Suranari Monument, also known as Ya Mo Memorial Park, is a beautifully maintained and historically significant site in Nakornratchasima province. The central square features an impressive statue of Khun Ying Mo, a legendary heroine who played a crucial role in liberating the country from invaders. Ornate gates and a long reflecting pool enhance the atmosphere of the park, making it an ideal location for family outings or romantic dates.
Nice feel, festive during Ya Mo fest ....enjoyed strolling and tasting the street food.

A nice tourist area but please walk carefully as many holes and trip hazards on the walkway ( check my photo of the wheelchair ramp 😂) - don't even try to cross the road as it's a really dangerous thing to try - pedestrian crossings are just paint on the roads that nobody stops for - ever 😮
Some great local shops and coffee shops/ restaurants in this area 👌

Interesting monument. It will be very crowded since it fits right on the street. Parking is almost difficult to do it's better to use a taxi to the monument and dropping you off and picking you up after you finish business way with Ya Mo.

The Wat Ban Rai is an elaborate and vibrant temple complex featuring a stunning elephant mosaic shrine situated in a man-made lake. The shrine is adorned with over 20 million pieces of enameled tiles, showcasing depictions from Buddhism's sacred texts. Visitors can climb to the rooftop where they will find statues of Buddha and Luang Pho Khun. The temple offers spiritual solace for all and provides easy access for visitors.
Beautiful architecture, sculptures, and paintings. The chapel building is in Thai traditional style with quite unique ceramic decoration on the outside. Its shrine is a very large elephant building decorated with ceramic mosaics, reminiscent of Gaudi style, starting with a 19-head nagas bridge. Within the shrine, several sculptures and paintings are there. Six large masterpiece paintings are on its first floor showing major events in Siddhartha Gautama's life and his ministry. This is a must-see if you come to Korat.

Spiritual place, easy to come to. 3 stories high, 1 story being underground, surrounded by pod and great landscape view from the top. Lifts did not though. Might be hard for older people to climb to the top by the stairs.

In the centre of a man made pond, stands an elephant-liked ceramic shrine alongside an, by no means ordinary, wat—or temple. The shrine is beautifully decorated with enameled tiles. On the roof top, to where you are able to walk up, are the statue of a walking Buddha and that of Luang Pho Khun. Surrounding the building one finds depictions of Buddhism's sacred texts. The shrine is Asia's largest ceramic mosaic shrine with more than 20 million pieces of mosaic.

Beautiful Buddhist temple tribute to the monk "Khoon" who led to develop this temple and neighborhood.
There are several buildings, they are museums.
There are a bunch of donation boxes around the area, and a lot of lottery sellers.
There is also a Gashapon for amulet coins in a building there.

A beautiful temple 🛕 and a beautiful place. In touch with today's modern world, and with the wisdom of the past. If you want, you can learn a lot in just one visit to this temple. To learn humility, respect, understanding and love. from the scene in the temple, you can also see the dangers of modern times. I wish everyone to find themselves. To live in the present. To understand their values and role in the earthly life. Love, peace, and understanding to everyone.

I have attempting to visit this temple for a few years now but various obstacles got in our way - including a pandemic I’m supposed to believe.
On arriving I was surprised to see very few tourists or Thai for that matter 🤔 maybe 6 cars in the large carpark.
As most places I am getting used to, there are more sellers of food and trinkets than there are customers - how do they survive ?
The temple museum was really interesting and nicely chilled so we wandered round quite slowly 👌 Unfortunately if you don’t have a Thai partner you won’t understand what is on display so pretty much makes the visit to the museum pointless. Strange that not a word of English anywhere- I understand I am the foreigner here but I’m just thinking of increasing visits perhaps.
Now to the main elephant temple itself - breathtaking to look at from the outside and plenty of photo opportunity- unfortunately of the 4 floors normally to be viewed only 1 was open today ( annoying) the staff were away on other duties I’m told. Anyway I live an hour away so I can return I suppose.
To summarize: It’s a great place to visit but phone first to check it’s all open 🙏🏻

Jim Thompson Farm is an ideal destination for families, showcasing picturesque flower fields that are meticulously landscaped. Visitors can also witness demonstrations of silk production and explore a charming Isaan-style village, which provides a glimpse into traditional Thai culture. The farm offers plenty of engaging activities to keep both adults and children entertained all day long. If you're someone who loves Instagram-worthy locations, this place is definitely worth a visit.
This farm is amazing. Not only beautiful flowers and rice fields you can take photos with, you can also learn the way of life of Northeastern 'Esan' Thai people. This place exhibits about the Thai rices and silks. You can learn the silkworm's circle of life and how people got the silk thread from the silkworm's cocoons.

Khao Yai National Park, Thailand's oldest national park, is a favorite weekend getaway for Bangkok residents seeking cooler temperatures. The park is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, macaques, gibbons, and stunning hornbill species. Visitors can explore hiking and biking trails to discover the park's rich biodiversity and may spot rare bird species like Silver Pheasant and Eared Pitta.
Absolutely not to be missed! There is a lot of ground to cover, so allow a full day or more. You really need transport if you intend to see the whole park in one day. It's a great place to take children and the night safari is a must. Its beautiful in all weather, but be prepared and bring sensible layers and shoes.

Take your time to enjoy the nature and please help to keep the place clean ♥️

I have always wanted to go for the night safari and finally did at the end of March 2024. I booked the night safari truck in the afternoon at the visitor center and was told to standby at 6:30pm.
Our guide was looked like a student volunteer who only knew a few words in English. As the evening, fell we started our drive through the park.
However, I was rather disappointed. I did not have the expectation that the guide would explain too much about the park, as I knew this was not common in Thailand's national parks. The guide often just serves as someone who spots the animals simply by virtue of being there every day. However, this girl seems under experienced even in terms of animal spotting. We did see some sambar deers, a night jay, hedgehogs, a prairie-dog like animal and tons of monkeys and while any western visitor might be delighted, I have to say that as someone permanently living in South East Asia, these animals are not all that difficult to spot even in your own neighbourhood. At where I lived in Singapore, hornbills came to my window and I saw macaques every weekend when walking in the park.
I cannot help but compare the experience with Kui Buri, where it was far easier to spot elephants and guars were also aplenty. Of course having a knowledgeable guide who introduces the background of the park can always enrich experience. That was however not the case, and the experience was rather flat.
The Thong Somboon Club is a relaxed resort with a Wild West theme that offers event space, horseback rides, a cafe, zipline and log ride. It's situated in the scenic Khao Yai region and provides an abundance of fun activities for families and friends to enjoy. This is one the best places in Khao Yai to chill and have fun. When i went there.. 200 baht for ticket with 1 free ride... 1 pack of popcorns.. And unlimited soft drinks "kfc type"....... Alot of fun activities to do with family and friends.

Paid 399 for 13 activities but did maybe less than 7/8. Flying fox was too slow but the view was ok, the luge had some horizontal road which you need to stand to push like a scooter, the skylift was nice with umbrellas when sunny, the log ride was one of the most fun for my boy, they also had the bumper boat with spray.
Others such as Rodeo didn’t look fun, VR equipment not sensitive didn’t work well, gold panning was ok but gave out little kid prizes like plastic guns to my big boy..
Elderly above 60, I think, do not need to pay and get to do the skylift. Rather fair. Or you could enter and have one activity for 249 baht, and pay extra for single activities at 200.
This place is more for teenagers. You can’t do ATV, go kart, four wheel vehicle under 18/12. My boy almost couldn’t do the luge too, but he was too big to sit with parent 😅 so they finally allowed him to go on his own.

The room my family and I stayed in was horrible. Location was not good for us at all. The park inside had poor activities, even my 8 year old child said it was boring. For breakfast, we had to drive to another location which was inconvenient. What made it worse was the food and service was horrible. A lot of people in the park on the weekend which causes too much waiting. This was a one time visit and not worth going back. Also, not worth the money spent at all.

Upon arrival, despite the timing of closing, one still managed to appreciate the scenic environment and is considering a future visit for a more thorough exploration. There are numerous picturesque spots for photography enthusiasts and sufficient dining options available even after a long drive on the highways. The ranch known as Chokchai Farm offers an extensive array of agrotourism facilities coupled with various entertainment opportunities and food choices. Their homemade chocolate, cheese and fresh milk ice cream stands out as particularly impressive.
We had arrived just as everything was starting to close but still managed to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery around this place and will consider coming back to have a more detailed look around next time. Farm Chokchai is fun and engaging especially if you have kids. We didn't do any of the tours and spent most of our time there just feeding the animals and taking pictures, which was perfectly OK for us. We and our son really enjoyed visiting the farm using the car and walking around.
The admission prices with the own car are 100 baht for each adult and 50 baht for the children.
All the attractions inside the farm space have to be paid separately, as well the food to feed the animals.
Funny the experience to feed the ship that come all around you trying to reach the grass you are holding.
I suggest to try the very nice ice cream that they make with the fresh milk produced in the farm, 52 bath for a cup of 85 g.
Then if like us, after walking around, visiting the museum and the small zoo you will get hungry, do not miss the Hamburger House or the Steak House.

Located in Khao Yai National Park, Haew Narok Waterfall is the largest and highest waterfall in the park. It consists of three tiers and is particularly popular during the rainy season. To reach the viewpoint for this beautiful cascade, visitors must walk approximately 1 kilometer from the main road. The waterfall stands at about 150 meters high and is known for its steepness and strong currents, which add an element of danger to its beauty.
One of the better waterfalls, at least for water drop and volume. Aside from the discriminatory and excessive 500 baht for foreigners to enter the park this is one of the better parks to visit, in part to see the waterfalls and the hike through a wet forest. The walk to the falls takes you down some steep stairs, but it is worth it. Definitely worth a visit, and but for the excessive fees I'd go again. In addition to the falls, just the ride through the park is very nice.

It's a very nice half day driving trip. Driving here will pass through most of the National Park and get great lookout views. Beware the aggressive monkeys at the carpark. Our chips got stolen from the car by one. Walking down the trail is easy. Coming back up is another story.... Take your time and enjoy the view.
Tan Tian-An — Google review
The haew Narok waterfall is a transliteration of the valley of hell waterfall, and that name is tragically too apt, as about three years ago, over twenty elephants perished, (jumping down the ravine), in an effort to save one calf that had fallen.
As a tourist attraction, it's the leading one in Khao Yai.
It's free, there's a pleasant path of, I guess, 500m, ending in about four rather steep sets of steps which lead down to an observation area.
It's fairly impressive, about a 90m drop, I think, and is of course best viewed in the rainy season, albeit it falls all year...

It's difficult to imagine that is startlingly beautiful National Park is only 2 1/2 hours from Bangkok. It's well worth the entrance fee for foreigners of 400thb and there are even campgrounds if you want. If you go about 15 minutes outside the park there's more than enough hotels to satisfy every budget. Haew Narok waterfall has a well equiped parking area so you can grab a snack going in or coming out. Please be sure to pack out and trash as to not spoil this marvelous nature area.

Quite a long walk ...and a bit too steep for small children or old people. But the path is well built and well maintained.
The waterfall itself is big. You cannot go swimming at the pond down there, just to savour the scene.

I recently visited Haew Narok Waterfall and it was a truly breathtaking experience! While it's a bit of a trek to get there - about a 15-minute walk from the entrance along a 1km path - the journey is well worth it.
The stairs to reach the waterfall base are quite steep, so it's important to be prepared and have some stamina. But once you arrive, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of this beautiful waterfall. Even though the water volume was not massive at the time of my visit, the waterfall was still a sight to behold.
The natural beauty of Haew Narok Waterfall is truly mesmerizing, and the sound of the cascading water is incredibly peaceful. It's the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and connect with nature.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Haew Narok Waterfall to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful outdoor experience. Just make sure to bring comfortable shoes and be prepared for a bit of a workout on the stairs!

marc van looy — Google review
Trail was easy to walk on, paved with steps. Hardest part was a steep staircase down to the viewing point, just take it slow. Waterfall was pretty, but likely not as impressive as it would be during rainy season or tail end of it.

Recently, the Thai-Korea Friendship trail was opened. At the end of the trail you can see a nice waterfall.

Beautiful waterfall inside Khao Yai National Park. Closer to park entrance on Prachinburi side.
The waterfall was stunning especially after the rain.
Walking down and up the long stairs could be challenging. But it was worth the effort. Prepare to walk around 20 - 30 minutes each way with steep stairs.
Be careful of leeches especially around the wet area of the track.
Please help keep this beautiful clean by leaving no trash there.
VORASAK — Google review
Even though the deep and scary stairs step in the end of the walk way to the waterfall, but the view and most of the atmosphere is spectacular!!! Literally, not far away to walk. However, I would suggest you not to bring anything with you such as bag pack or any stuff that too much for a quick hiking.
Seven Oilz — Google review
One of the most spectacular natural sights we saw in Thailand. Definitely worth a visit. There is a bit of a hike to get to the waterfal (about 1 to 2 km) but mostly along a well maintained, paved path. There is a very steep staircase at the end, but any able bodied visitor should be able to manage it.

I visited PB Valley Khaoyai Winery for lunch and a tour, which I found to be satisfactory without any flaws. Later, I had dinner and another tour at Monte Winery, where the difference between "good" and "great" was apparent. If you have to choose one winery to visit, I recommend Monte; however, both are unique in their own ways. The grape garden was beautiful to see alongside the wine-making process.
We joined the wine tour and tasting and had a good time. The tour is very interesting, and out of the 3 wines we tried out we liked one. The staff is very nice and they have an English tour. Beautiful scenery all around. We didn't eat there, but considering the very affordable cost of the tour and wine tasting (350B per person) I really recommend this place...

Had lunch and a tour here. Its good, nothing to fault. Then we had dinner and tour at Monte. Oh my, then you,ll see the difference between good vs great. If you only have choice of doing 1 of the winery- then i’ll recommend Monte. Otherwise do both, they are difference in each of their own.

did the tour and lunch. there’s 4 time slots for the vineyard tour daily, it’s about an hour. include a visit to the vineyard to see grapes, next to the winery where they make the wine and lastly the tasting. saw the black opal grapes, not the ones that are used for wine. very beautiful. the winery had a very strong wine smell, huge vats used to make wine. and we tasted 3 types of wine at the end.
simple lunch, just a main each and a drink.
Summer C — Google review
We booked the wine tour, which costs 350 bhat per person. They take you around the vineyard with a little cart, show you and explain the making of their 3 different wines, and then at the wine tasting 2 out of 3 wines are actually not local but Australian? I've never in my life been to a vineyard for wine tasting where completely other wines are served than what the winery makes themselves. If I wanted to taste Australian wine in Thailand, I would not go to a local vineyard for it... To top it off, we had not more than 15 minutes to just taste the wines in a rush, because we had to get back to the cart.
I also missed more interaction from the staff during the wine tasting. Questions about what we think, how we like it, and in general how satisfied we were with the tour.
After this experience, we were not in the mood to try the restaurant.

It's ok, food was not that special in the restaurant.
Wine at the wine tasting was so so, the Shiraz was not to my liking, there is a certain smell to it. Rose was decent.
Vineyard tour was fun, but that day was too hot to go outdoor.
Ariena Sariatu — Google review
This vineyard was our first stop from Suvarnabhumi airport and also my very first time to a vineyard + winery, to be honest, the staff there are really nice, but their Shiraz isn’t that great… sorry PB, that’s my own personal experience.. we took some great photos though, the gift has some awesome stuff to take home, we bought the fresh mulberries. Take the wine tour if you are first time, book online a few days before you arrive, the open air buggy has limited capacity, we were there on Jan 22, 2023 and was hot.

Food: 37.5/40, pretty good
Activities: 26/30, ok but a bit hot
Service: 14/15
Decorations: 13.5/15
Total: 91/100. The food is pretty good. There are also some wine activities and a 70 minute tour, which is ok.

The PB Valley Winery tour priced at 350 baht per person for a factory visit and wine tasting left me feeling underwhelmed. While the experience wasn't particularly compelling, especially for the price, it failed to captivate me. Although the winery boasts scenic surroundings and a glimpse into the winemaking process, the value didn't match the cost. I believe a lower price point would make it more reasonable. Overall, the visit offered an average experience. For those seeking a more engaging and worthwhile wine tasting venture, exploring alternative options might be advisable.

Very nice to see the grapes garden. Also to see the wine making process. Grapes and mulberry picking is fun. Very nice restaurants and good quality food. Don't forget to taste the grape juice and wine testing

Great wine, nice sunset view and outdoor seating. Food taste great too. Pirom Supremacy wine is fragrant and fruity. love it. Cheese cake is a bit salty. Crispy pork knuckle is best but better match with the Thai sauce than the mushroom gravy.

PB Valley offers wine tasting tours for which it received awards from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and this winery has won multiple international awards for its excellent.
A wine tasting session at their wine tasting and education center is included as part of the guided tour.
During the tasting session, we were served a glass of white and two glasses of red wine.
Visitors under the legal drinking age (20 and below) and non alcohol drinkers are served with a full glass of 100% PB Valley’s Shiraz grape juice.

Signatures menu is recommended. Each dish take 10-15 mins wait and big portion size. A lot of parking space and gardens. There is wine tour, taking around the farm to visit grape farm, wine factory and tasting wine.

Food was okay. Generic Thai food but service was good. They were attentive and caring. We had a meal there and did the wine tour.
We particularly liked the grape juice they produced. It wasn’t too sweet and felt more intense than most grape juice you can find else where.
The view was spectacular. I really enjoyed the wine tour because of the scenery was super nice! We also got to pick and buy grapes.
I recommend coming for just the view

Awesome experience, we came a bit late but they managed to help us catch up with the tour. Limited time to take photo where they age the wine so take as much as you can, when you can.
Wine testing will serve 3 wines, rose, white and red. They also have non-alcoholic juice for those who can't take alcohol.
The whole place give out of Asia vibe.
Janelie Pizzetulla — Google review
Came here for the wine tour and tasting but was disappointing.
Staff knew little beyond her script and had little comparison between Thai wine and others.
The wine tasting was just limited to 1 glass of rosé, white and red each. Good that they offered cheese and crackers to pair. But little to learn and understand beyond their taste and type.
Perhaps the winery is just too small a scale to have a tour too comprehensive.
Did not try the food, so 5 stars for that.
The vineyard is also beautiful as seen in there pictures.

Winery tour, restaurant and shop. There's activities of winery tour, bicycle around the winery. Lovely place especially evening time with the mountain view and sunset. They have vegetarian menu option but have to ask for it. The shop selling own production wines and collaboration wine. Homemade grape jam, mango jamr and grape juice is a must buy.

Stopped by PB Valley for wine tasting @32°C
Imagine the wine served at this“room temperature”? 😂
Honestly the wine tasted very flat n it is just not nice (to be honest n polite). Not worth the 350 baht.
See the photo for the volume of wines served.
Well they made up by the pretty landscape…

The restaurant manager is a little unfriendly, thus the 3 stars for service. Lol.
Pra Prang Sam Yod is a renowned historic landmark located in Lopburi. It was built by the Khmer in the 13th century as a Buddhist temple using laterite and sandstone, and it features three linked towers. Although it was converted to Shiva worship, King Narai returned it to Buddhism in the 17th century.
Overrun with monkeys, so if you don’t like monkeys don’t bother to go. Love this place, better visit in the morning. The entrance guard will give you a stick for your safety. Some of these monkeys are very curious especially the young ones. The older monkeys are quite chill. You can go inside the temple, although there aren’t much to see inside. The monkeys are barred from going inside the temple

If you want to mess around with the Monkeys this old temple is a good place to visit.
The place is not well maintained but for the price of small entry fee it's worth it.
Plan on spending about 30 minutes here. it's not that big.
Tips:
Keep all your stuff tight was the monkeys would try to take it.
I wouldn't take very small children here as the monkeys can get a little aggressive.
Bring vegetable and fruit if you are looking to feed them. The will swarm you so keep it close.
For the most part the monkeys after the initial curiosity leaves you alone especially the adults.

The ruins of the old khmer temple with hundreds of monkeys around. Very interesting experience. Little monkeys cam try to play with you, climb on you or try to steal your cap. But they are not aggressive. Old Buddha statue outside is really amazing!

Beautiful historic temple complex. However, the visit is only recommended without anything edible, otherwise you will be immediately surrounded by monkeys who want to get hold of your food!

Lopburi landmark... A lot of monkeys inside and outside, need to be careful. Don't wear any small accessories or hold food that could attract to the monkeys. Staff is nice with support and advice. Recommend to go in the morning or evening to enjoy the nice view and better atmosphere.

It's nice.
Parking is done nearby the water at the roundabout and costs 50 Baht. Then its a small walk to the location. Careful though: it's an busy area and there are no crossings.
Lots of monkeys who are taken care of by caretakes. Although they are forward and will approach you they aren't aggressive.
Temple itself is nice and people are using it actively.
Dream. Dare. Discover. (Danny) — Google review
Definitely different. The monkeys OWN this part of town, much to the local shopkeepers chagrin. It is a pretty run-down part of the city. They climbed on our cars and at some point peeled up a couple of trim pieces on the hood. I just popped them back on.
I paid 50 baht to enter the fenced-in temple grounds. The fence is more for people as it doesn't hinder the passage of monkeys one bit.
Lots of baby monkeys that are really cute. I had one tug on my shoe, then run back to mom.
They give you a small bamboo stick with your paid admission, presumably to ward off over-curious primates. Never needed it as the pretty much ignored my.
I probably don't need to visit it again, but I don't regret stopping by.

My wife and I visited recently knowing what to expect, but still were surprised. Within 3 minutes of exiting my vehicle, I was mugged and robbed by a monkey. We learned a few things which will help all visitors. Keep all bags inside of a backpack. Especially plastic bags. If it is in your hand, it will be forcibly removed from your possession. Second tip. As you walk past the monkeys, or if they are stalking you, simply show them both of your open hands. As soon as they see they are empty, they will walk away and turn their attention elsewhere. Don’t get me wrong though, we had a lot of fun. Getting here can be an issue though as there were no tours out of Bangkok. We hired a private driver for the day who drove us there and back for 6,000 baht.

Enjoyable experience with the monkeys. They are everywhere. The entrance fee cost 50 thb for foreign and 10 thb for local visitors. We were each given a stick as a precaution against the monkeys. The monkeys were very well behaved, minding their own business, as we walked around the temple grounds. The young monkeys got curious and three of them worked together to pull away my son's stick. After their successful raid, the young monkeys threw the stick on the floor and walked away. Nice place to see the monkeys up close. We spend about 30 min here.

It was quite an experience to go there. There were a lot of monkeys around the place and they just did their own business. Once you pay for the ticket, staff will give you a stick, just carry it with you and you'll be fine with monkeys.
Most of them just did their things only 1 or two that might want to bother you so all u need to do is knock the stick on the floor as a sign that this is your boundary : Get Out!

Entry 10 baht for Thais 50 baht for foreigners. Entry comes with stick to fend off monkeys but pretty sure they've learnt not to fear them. Monkeys at the temple and around the One came and grabs the stick and needed to be swung off in the air. The inside of the temple has lots of (sleeping) bats and a strong smell. area overrun the town. Feeding monkeya is discouraged (despite the people calling you to sell food/ feed them) as it's what causes the monkey overpopulation problem in the old town.

Best known as the Monkey Temple
This will not disappoint, there are Monkey's everywhere.
Easy to get to by train, your self guided tour around the temple comes with a stick.
I found I had just as much delight standing in town watching the monkeys run a muck 😁
Well worth a visit.

Beautiful architecture surrounded by crowd of monkeys 😬 Entrance costs 50 TB for foreigners, with tickets you will also receive a stick for self defence from monkeys)) we didn’t use it, fortunately, but anyway. There were 2-3 stuff guys who controlled the situation with monkeys. Our experience was pretty calm and we felt more or less safe at this place, but maybe just because we did not came close to monkeys and didn’t try to communicate with them 🐒 You also can come inside the temple and see some ancient pieces, painted wooden ceiling with a bunch of bats))) and look closer to monkeys through the grating on the windows.

Love this place! Feed the monkeys yogurt. So good for healthy gut bacteria 🥰
If they climb on you, just pull and push em off when you get sick of them. If they bite you, you're probably gonna be fine. They're actually pretty well monitored, vaccinated, and neutered. But get a cheap rabies shot just in case, if you are bitten. Super easy in Thailand.
I got bit, didn't break the skin, didn't hurt. They're just naughty children mostly. SO CUTE!

This is a beautiful ancient temple with the added twist of being inhabited by a troop of monkeys (and some bats).
We entered and paid our admission, at which point we were handed sticks (just in case) and advised that we were allowed to enter the temple.
I’m always struck by the size and complexity of these structures, especially given their age. This one is not different.
As we wandered around and then within, we had many different interactions with our animal friends. We suffered no assaults or attempted robberies from our little friends, though I did observe them attack a guy on a scooter, causing him to fall over while on it. 😵💫
This was a really cool visit, and something I’m happy I was able to do!

The main sight for Lop Buri which is what you came for. A bit of a shock to find that it is quite small and in the middle of town.
You get a stick to hold which discourages the bolder monkeys but do not carry tempting plastic bags. We went near feeding time when many dashed off for easier pickings.
Otherwise you can also find them scattered about the nearby streets.

A small but important ancient site right by the train station. Upon buying the entrance ticket, you'll be offered a stick to ward of the monkeys, but you probably won't need it - the monkeys were very peaceful. The Khmer style temple can be explore in a matter of minutes; the real fun comes from watching the monkeys climb, play, and jump around the temple. The temple can be entered to get some shade or to get away from the monkeys. It was pretty quiet when I went on a Saturday morning, no other visitors. Staff and security guard are very friendly.

It's a great historical 700 years old temple right in the heart of lipburi city, which is approximately 150 killometers away from Bangkok.
The temple is still looking great despite it's old age and many long tailed monkeys climb on it all the time.
The temple is open to the public daily and entry for Thai people only 10 Bhatt and forginers is 50 Bhatt.
However, I advise all the visitors to lopburi, from my own experience, to be careful when you deal with the monkeys and hide your mobile phone, glasses, hats, and your bag from them because they can easily grab it from you and run away like a bullet.

This destination offers a truly unique experience, characterized by the presence of hundreds of free-roaming monkeys. The opportunity to interact closely and even touch these animals adds a remarkable dimension to the visit. I highly recommend this place for those seeking an encounter with wildlife in a setting that allows for such direct interaction. It’s a memorable and distinctive experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
The ancient remains of King Narai's Palace, constructed in the 17th century with assistance from French and Italian engineers, offer a sight to behold. The palace initially served to receive foreign dignitaries and includes elephant stables, storage buildings, wells, and banquet halls accessible via a well-maintained path. Within the 7-hectare historical site is an excellent museum that showcases temple artifacts rather than European ones.
It is well worth a visit to the museum and ruins of king Narai ancient palace. Peaceful and quiet. The park is well maintained and clean. The museum is air conditioned, well organized and quite educational. No parking inside the palace, though. So it’s a little problematic finding street parking near the place.

The price for a foreigner is 150 baht. It has one of the best museums I've visited in Thailand. It takes you through all the historical eras clearly and in just the right amount of detail. The artifacts are impressive and relevant to the material. Nearly everything has been translated to English (and it's good English). I would recommend coming here first before visiting the other sites so you have some context about what you are seeing.

Very well worth the 30 baht entry for Thais. Parking available at the front of the museum for free. The Museum provides a lot of interesting history from the stone age and particularly concentrated during the height of lopburi influence (11th & 17th century). Lots of important artefacts that belong in much bigger museums. The palace grounds are not covered and can get very hot but still an interesting walk through the ruins. Ticket can be bought as combo with other lopburi attractions. Be wary of monkeys around on the roads outside during the late afternoons.

Some are completely intact, others are in partial ruins. It was nice to stroll through the palace and take many panoramic photos. King Narai's palace, though in ruins,is now being showcase in a commemoration for the great ayutthaya king from 10 feb 2023. I managed to visit it on the eve of the opening day in the night. The crowd was thin, as the set up is still in progress. It was a memorable night out for photographers as many were there to soak in the glamorous lights. The thin crowd is the last ingredient to capture the splendor of the exhibits. The street food vendors surrounding the ruins of the palace were not in full house as well and it was great to be able to walk through and sampling the real thai food and korean fòod in thai style. Many thais were dressed in their traditional costume for the occasion and these costumes were also on sale along the street next to the complex. I heard that the bedroom of King Narai will be open for viewing as well. There were bamboo mats at certain locations placed for visitors to walk along. It the dressing up of the ruins that has brought out it's glory
