Old Town Café is highly recommended to anyone who enjoys delectable salads and casseroles. The recent restoration has only enhanced the beauty of this place. Additionally, they have undergone a change in name and menu, now offering delicious Thai cuisine. It is definitely worth trying their excellent food at prices comparable to those found in the old town. The chef's culinary skills are exceptional, as evidenced by the mouthwatering soups and the exquisite duck served on a bed of vegetables.
Very tasty, home-style food at attractive prices

(Translated by Google) A revelation: quiet, slightly in front of the market square, i.e. peaceful, without overcrowding compared to what's happening in the restaurants on the market square, and most importantly, delicious food for reasonable money, with a nice atmosphere and wonderful service. I was there twice during my stay in Zamosc, once alone because I was the only one hungry, the rest ate earlier in the pierogi shop, which I didn't like, and I ate salmon soup and pork chop with fries and salads, I left feeling as full as a meal and everything was fresh and delicious in a few days. again we were wondering what to eat and where, so I took my family to this particular restaurant, everyone left full, we didn't spend a fortune, it was delicious and nice, again I ate salmon soup, I really recommend it, it was a finger licking sensation, and the kids had chicken soup, spaghetti and pancakes, and my wife and everyone had dumplings with groats. satisfied and everyone liked it. If we are ever in Zamość again, we will definitely come for dinner. Greetings ladies from Old Town Cafe

Zamosc is very old city and its City Hall as well which was built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries according to Bernardo Morando’s design.

Quite an impressive city hall. You can go up the stairs to take a better look at the Market Square which is rather colorful and cute and full of cafes. There is a tourist info center on the side of the building that will give you a lot of interesting info. You can also hear the musician playing from the upper part of the building at certain hours. The town itself is very nice and truly worth visiting. By the way, there are a lot of events organized at the Market Square

Zamość Town Hall is a beautiful and well-preserved Renaissance town hall. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the town. It is a large and imposing 16th century building with a richly decorated facade. The interior of the town hall is also impressive, with its high ceilings, grand staircase, and ornate chambers. The beautiful murals and frescoes on the walls are quite impressive. I highly recommend visiting this gem!

Imposing 19th-century fortress ruins featuring a museum & brutalist-style concrete memorial statue.
Was awestruck and simply amazed visiting this place. As I entered, they were playing "the Sacred War", one of the most famous World War II songs, and this was easily one of the most Soviet experiences I ever had in my many stays in former Soviet countries.

if you are in Belarus, be sure to visit this place, the energy of this place is going through the roof. be sure to take a guide to the open part of the memorial complex. history must be known and remembered, and not as it is now fashionable to forget, turn over.

Good museum to give background to the events during WW2 that occurred at the fortress. Some displays are in English, but you can easily get the idea about the artifacts and photographs which have not been translated.
Do not miss the excellent museum shop downstairs. Very reasonable prices on some interesting souvenirs, from coins to old bullets.

I recommend to visit this place if you are fan of military and history of wars. Place is amazing and really really big! I also suggest to visit it with guide because you could hear really great story about everything inside. There is a lot of military and culture accents so remember that you are visitor and you are guest here :)

Church in the fortress is amazing. Don't mind its renovated exterior - just step inside. You'll be surprised. Memorial itself is a great example of soviet monumental memorial complexes.

Here you can experience the greatness and sadness of war simultaneously, nothing much left of the original buildings thanks to those Germans, but the museum and maps of the Fort give a good idea of how large the site actually is. The monuments are imposing as go never forget what happened.

Formerly known as Brest-Litoŭsk Fortress, is a 19th-century fortress in Brest in present-day Belarus. In 1965 the title "Hero Fortress" was given to the fortress to commemorate the defence of the frontier stronghold during the first week of the German-Soviet War of 1941-1945 when Axis forces invaded the Soviet Union with the launch of Operation Barbarossa on June 22, 1941. The title "Hero Fortress" corresponds to the title "Hero City" that the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union awarded to an eventual total of twelve Soviet cities.

The open-air Railway Technology Museum showcases the history of railways through an impressive collection of over 50 locomotives and passenger cars, ranging from a luxurious 1903 Moscow-Brest Express with shower rooms and plush bedrooms to more modest Soviet-era carriages from 1988. I liked that there are no strict rules about the museum. You can touch, climb or visit the trains inside. No cameras or guards make this place very relaxed. Ticket is affordable too. Some of the trains are really old and fancy.

A good exposition, worth seeing for sure. However, we enjoyed a very similar museum in Baranovichy much more. In Baranovichy they treat their visitors much more warmly, and when we went there a couple of years ago there was a wonderful guide, who was very passionate about his job and who told us a great many of interesting things about engines and let us try a lot aff technical stuff for ourselves. In the Brest museum there were no excursions available at the time, so we had to make do with the very short- spoken plaques beside the exhibits.
Nadzeya Z — Google review
It a good place to see old locomotives and trains. But most of them are locked, as for me, the best ones. A little bit disappointed because of that but still it's a good and cheap museum in case you love trains.

Wildlife reserve with walking paths & opportunities to view bison, wolves & elk in natural habitat.
Amazing place to experience nature
?ukasz Piwowarski — Google review
Entrance costs 20 zlotys. Inside there are several interesting museum exhibits telling about the history, life and structure of bison.
But the main part, of course, is outside. There are about a dozen enclosures inhabited by different animals: bison, elk, deer, wolves, lynxes, wild boars... Unfortunately, you almost certainly will not be able to see them all - the animals are hiding in the depths of the enclosure. But large animals (bison) can be clearly seen and photographed.
In general, you can walk around the entire reserve in about 30 minutes. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth paying 20 zlotys for this, but it seems to me that in any case this is the most interesting thing in the Polish Białowieża Forest.
Igor Omarov — Google review
Getting to see the bisons was the highlight. Don't think I have ever seen one live, so that was pretty cool. The rest are just standard animals found throughout Europe. Information about the creatures available in English. A tip is to make sure to get here early. As I was leaving is when the hords of people started to arrive.
Tiago G — Google review
The tickets cost 20zl (regular entry), the facility is nice, 6 can walk around and see everything in more or less 40 mins.
It seems to be a fun place to take kids. As an adult, I had an odd feeling of visiting a zoo rather than a reserve, but the animals seem to be very well treated.
The cafeteria was not working when I was there, but there were 2 vending machines.
Overall a nice place to visit.

Białowieża National Park Bison Demonstration Reserve is situated on the road connecting Białowieża with Hajnówka.
In the reserve, in conditions close to natural, there are bison, Polish Tarpan horses, elk, red deer, roe deer, wild boars, bison (a cross between a bison and domestic cattle), wolves and a lynx. The demonstration reserve is a significant tourist attraction, it also serves the natural education of schoolchildren visiting Białowieża.
Some history:
For the restitution of the European bison in Poland in natural conditions was the establishment in 1929 of a zoo for these animals.
The successful development of bison restitution breeding in Białowieża after World War II allowed for the transition to free breeding. In the Polish part of the Białowieża Forest, the first bison were released into the wild in 1952, and the first calf was born in the wild in 1957. In the period 1952-1966, 38 bison were released into the wild from breeding reserves. From 1967, the release of new pieces ceased

This is an amazing place. Just to dive into the atmosphere, the best way to get there is to walk from Żebra Żubra path starting in Białowieża. This place is unique. You have plenty of wild animals living in a semi-wild environment. With a bit of a luck you can even pet the deer (beware of the male, he is jealous). There are multi-language info tables next to the animals. A big parking spot outside. Responsible restrictions due to covid. Ticket price was 10 PLN per person, bought from ticket machine.
Seeing the place is a must if you are nearby. Highly recommended.

Mir Castle is a 16th-century fortification located on a 27-hectare property. The castle has been recently renovated and converted into a museum featuring displays about the life and times of the Radziwills. Inside, visitors can find beautifully restored interiors with over 120 items to learn about through an audioguide. The castle also houses an eatery and souvenir shop. Its reflection in an adjoining pond creates a magnificent sight similar to that of Disney's castles.
Mir Castle in Grodno region is one of the most important tourist attractions in Belarus, an outstanding 16th-century fortification and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It was an absolutely fabulous experience. My 9-year-old daughter enjoyed it the most. An absolute must when you are in Belarus. The pharmacist went out of her way to help me and speak english.

This is a really interesting castle for anyone! I am really happy I decided to go to the castle and learn more about the history of the region. It was well worth getting the audio guide! Their is too much stuff to simply read and get through.
The curators did an amazing job allowing people to go through the different towers of the castle and having people explore the castle. It was really fun to climb through the different stairs and levels.
Beware for the tall people the stairs were made for smaller men!

Nice-looking, moderately renovated castle. There is a hotel inside, so you can spend a night as well. The castle is not so big and there is not a lot of interesting things around it, bug the view is great
Alexey Subach — Google review
Interesting renovated castle in Belarus, good for a day trip. Kids will love the uneven steps and small passageways that take you to the top of the towers, older adults less so .
Good exhibitions on the history of the castle, including its time as a concentration camp for Jews who were almost all sadly massacred.
Rather bizarrely you can stay here overnight as a small hotel has opened in one small area. It certainly would be an experience, but one I am happy to miss :-)

This castle complex was by far my favorite tourist attraction in Belarus. It has been meticulously restored and the ticket covers entry to all aspects of the complex including the museum and cathedral. The signage was good and the personnel were friendly. The nearby Radziwill castle could learn about customer service from this castle. You could spend as much time as you like here and enjoy the beautiful parks surrounding the complex. I recommend at least one night in Mir to see the castle illuminated at night, at sunrise and at sunset. If I had known you can book a room in the castle I would have done that!

Restaurant Check — Google review
(Translated by Google) The place is interesting, a large well-groomed territory, many locations, the opportunity to buy souvenirs and have a bite to eat. But work with groups of tourists is organized disgustingly. I consider the situation when the group arrives at the agreed time (!) and waits for the start of the tour under the gate for 2-3 hours under the sun, in the dust in the middle of the field, where there is no opportunity to sit down, I consider it unacceptable. People sat down on the grass and stumps. They explained that more than 70 groups / buses arrived on the same day, and such a long wait is connected with this. Excuse me, but if the capacity is not so great, if there are not enough guides, if you are not able to provide the declared services, then why do you record so many groups for one day? Thank you that there is at least a toilet and the opportunity to buy water outside the perimeter.
Last year, we did not encounter such a problem, and yesterday's trip discouraged the desire to visit the park as part of a group. I advise you to take individual tickets without the services of a guide. Or take blankets with you so that you can sit down while waiting not on the bare grass. I also advise you to take alcohol and some snacks from home - the prices there are 2 times higher.

We recommend everyone to visit this place and plunge foreign guests into the history of our land.
Special thanks for such a warm welcome and accommodation of bikers in the lower parking lot and the opportunity to leave helmets at the box office.
We hope that by the next time there will be a designated place with drinking water in the park.

Every year the complex becomes more and more interesting. Its main advantage is people: enthusiasts involved in their work, mini-guides in thematic sections (pharmacy, dressing shop, weaving, collegium, etc.). An amazing restaurant that offers the best flasks in Belarus in my opinion! Definitely "recommended" for tasting!!!
Of the minuses:
1) everything is as before - access roads !!!
2) a seller-guide in a cheese factory/bakery: yes, we are not the first time and we come here purposefully for kravt bread/goat cheese, and, perhaps, we are already recognized/remembered, but... still about one of the most interesting locations complex, you should say a few words, offer to taste the products, and not the ubiquitous principle "no naseru, no dzyakui ...
Great weather, a sea of positive energy and a boost of energy for the new week - that's why the overall impression is 5 points out of 5!

I can't even rate this place by 1 star. Our friends recommended it to us as a great place to spend the weekend.
What was our disappointment when we were not allowed in. The reason was the little puppy we were holding in our arms.

The Church of Saints Simon and Helena in Minsk is a striking redbrick Neo-Romanesque Catholic church that stands out amidst the white buildings. Erected in 1910 to honor Simon, a disciple of Jesus also known as the "Red Church", this landmark offers daily masses and hosts various events. The beautiful architecture, located near Independence Square, makes it a must-see attraction for tourists. Additionally, visitors can admire the religious paintings at the choir inside the church.
Church of Saints Simon and Helena also known as the Red Church is a Roman Catholic church on Independence Square in Minsk, Belarus.
This neo-Romanesque church was designed by Polish architects Tomasz Pajzderski and Władysław Marconi. The cornerstone was laid in 1905 and the church was completed in 1910.
Okay yesterday I watched a number of old ladies go to every religious statue and pray. They would pray and move to the next one. There was 5 or 6 on just one side.
Kind of makes me think your having another God!

A beautiful church with a sad story, as it was apparently built to commemorate a son and daughter who died at a green age and who had shared with their parents having dreamt of a church just like the one that can be admired today.
The comparatively new (1910) church building - like so many religious buildings in the territories of the former Soviet Union - then went through a change of purpose, being used as a cinema for most of the Soviet period, and reverting to its original use only under newly-independent Belarus.

A must-see even for non-history minded tourists.
Museum already rightfully glows in reviews. Ditto to that.
I'll add two specific points of appreciation that perhaps seldom get recognized.
First, HUGE thank you for English! Well-written, proper English. It's not an afterthought, it's a first-class citizen throughout, and that makes museum accessible to mainstream audience.
Second, thank you for so beautifully presenting less sexy, nuts & bolts hardware that doesn't usually get attention. Corrugated steel chambers, bridge layers, trench diggers, reinforced vehicle maintenance structures. And you don't just have these items sitting out back unlabeled, you've taken care to identify what they are and what they do. Wow.
One request next time placards are revamped: Please add year & location of manufacture if possible.
Thank you for so competently preserving this important history.

The unique historical and cultural complex of the Great Patriotic War. Be sure to come with the kids! Very interesting. You can take an excursion, which guides in the form of soldiers and officers from the Second World War will conduct for you. And you can bypass everything yourself. Fortifications remained - trenches, bunkers of those times, weapons from which, by the way, you can shoot for a nominal fee. There is also a technique of the post-war and Soviet period. On holidays, performances in the open. And in the local souvenir shop you can buy home souvenirs.

The Island of Tears is a memorial located in the center of Visrochi, dedicated to fallen Belarusian soldiers who lost their lives during the war. It is an artificial island connected to the shore by a bridge, featuring long-standing monuments and a large bronze memorial. The offerings presented by relatives of the deceased are solemn and respectful, adding to the atmosphere of remembrance. The island also features a statue of a crying child that evokes feelings of longing for those who have passed away.
A heartbreaking memorial site for the soldiers who died in the war in Afghanistan.

While I've been here, I felt sad , this place is a man made island attached to the historic Trinity district of Minsk by a footbridge, dedicated to the soldiers who perished in the conflict involving Soviet forces in Afghanistan .Built at the end of the war in 1988, the island's focal point is a small chapel surrounded by statues of those who were left to mourn the dead - widows, mothers, sisters. Inside the names of over 700 Belarusian soldiers who died in the war are inscribed. You'll also find a statue of a young guardian angel who continues to literally shed tears for those lost in violent conflict worldwide.

Very moving monument - quite intense to visit as then one can almost feel the emotions that the statues of widows, mothers, sisters and daughters transmit. Very important to remember that not all is glory in the death of a soldier - and to remember all he left behind.
David H — Google review
This is a memorial for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Soviet war with Afghanistan. The war lasted for nine years and the Soviets eventually lost. Hundreds of soldiers died in the skirmishes and this monument seeks to commemorate them. It is located on an island created in the Svislach river. The main structure here is shaped like a chapel and is open on all sides. Surrounding this monument are statues of women and children in mourning, said to represent the families of the soldiers who died. Inside the monument, the names of the martyrs are engraved in the walls. This is one of the few monuments in the world that was built in a country that lost the war commemorated by the structure. There is a statue of a crying guardian angel in the memorial complex that is said to be disheartened as it failed to protect the Belarusian soldiers. If you look closely, you will see water dripping down from the figure’s eyes into the pool below. Overall the atmosphere here is quite serious and nostalgic, but it is worth a visit to spend some quite time in Minsk.

One must see place in Minsk. A memorial for Belarussian soldiers who were died or hurt during Russian war with Afghanistan. It's a man-made island on the river, across Trinity Hill. There's a tiny chapel. The island can be visited free of charge.
The island is like a little park, with willow trees, flowers, greenery, and benches. Lovely.
It underwent a major renovation when we're there.
Keluarga Pelancong — Google review
In rememberance of the fallen soldiers, the wounded and the handicapped in Afghanistan this monument is erected in 1996. It started ten years ago as more than eight hundred Belarusian soldiers died in Afghanistan and the berieved mothers cry is symbolically represented here. On the niche of the stone boulder the icon of Blessed Mother Mary and Child Jesus is depicted. This island is artificially created in the Svisloch river. This is monument that cries for ending all armed conflicts.

It is difficult to describe the atmosphere and all the feelings when you are among these monuments of human cruelty. A special sensation is causing by the bells ringing for the deads.
At the same time there is some kind of harmony here.

The first thing you need to do is go to the museum (kind of unnoticeable on the far left of the parking lot) and buy a $2 book that gives the history and significance of all of the memorials (book is in English and Russian). There is a museum that shows photos of past memorials and photos of construction of present ones. It also has stories and photos of survivors from Khatyn and other villages--only in Russian though.
The whole complex is very harrowing, but so worthwhile. Very well done in typical Soviet style (concrete).

The imposing 11th-century cathedral, marked by dual spires, boasts an impressive pipe organ. The centerpiece of attraction is the elaborate dome of the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk, showcasing masterful statues that exemplify exquisite craftsmanship. Conveniently located in the city's old town, this breathtaking place serves as a cultural heritage site with a rich history. The magnificent sound of the organ playing Bach adds to its allure.
If I'm to use one word alone to describe this place, that will be "breathtaking". I don't remember crying in a cathedral while travelling abroad before, because I see them as cultural heritage and that's it, but my God, the sound of the organ in this cathedral is magnificent. Parks
Dvortsovyy Park is an extensive lakefront recreational area that showcases lush botanical gardens, a charming amphitheater, and sprawling grass lawns perfect for picnics. The park boasts an array of plant life, including vibrant daffodils blooming in the bushes. Although some areas may have been under reconstruction during visits, the overall beauty and tranquility of the park remain intact. Visitors can also enjoy boat rides on the serene lake.
Absolutely love the park. Been there twice with 1.5 years interval and both visits revived my mind and body. Royal landscape designers did know how to do their job.

(Translated by Google) The park is beautiful. We spent several hours in it, not the first time, and not the last. We live nearby. But! I was surprised by the uncut, even neglected lawn, with bald patches of dandelions. I’m not talking about the lawn throughout the park, but where it usually was ideally. The park is not friendly to visitors. Entrance is 150 rubles and there are also paid toilets. 30 rubles each. The toilets themselves are not ideal; there is not much water in the tap or paper to wipe your hands. In a cafe where I bought tea and coffee several times, the saleswoman literally told everyone, why are there so many of you... And this was on Saturday, when in reality there were not many people. Ducks, swans, carps, pigeons and mice are beautiful.

(Translated by Google) Nice beautiful park. A great place to take a walk with children. The park is quite clean. The area is large, so it will take a whole day to get around it. The Gatchina Palace itself is also very beautiful - it’s worth visiting. And be sure to visit your own garden. Huge carps swim in the Carp Pond) In the park there are tame squirrels - they run up to get the nuts themselves. The only negative is that admission is usually free, but on children’s day they made it paid, thank you for at least letting the children in just like that. Well, the lake is not cleaned - it’s dirty. I understand that money is needed to maintain the park; perhaps the management should think about paying a minimum entrance fee on weekends (as in the Central Park of Culture and Culture), and not on Children’s Day.

(Translated by Google) The park is beautiful, but when we were there, many locations were under reconstruction. We wanted to visit the palace, but the site says verbatim - You can take an excursion to the palace without excursion service 👀👀👀.
And so, everything is clean, comfortable, I really liked the meadow of grass and daffodils bloom in bushes).

Gatchina Palace, one of the largest and most opulent 18th century palace & gardens in Russia, has a museum with fine art, antiquities, and weaponry. It is located near Saint Petersburg.
Very nicely restored new rooms. Audio guide is recommended. Trip down stairs to the passage is fun especially for the children.

So impressive with this palace. I went there on autumn 2017. Outside in the morning was so quiet and no signs for tourists where is entrance but Russian pointed over there. Ticket price is 350 rubles for adults. There are 3 floor and 1 basement. Museum keepers was so nice and always try to tell history of this place even my Russian skill is fair.

The huge palace of Emperor Paul just started to turn into a museum. For a long time there was a naval school. Now museums are much smaller than a quarter of the building, but restoration work is underway. A special impression is left by the private chambers and the office of Emperor Alexander 3. Small rooms and low ceilings contrast sharply with the luxury of the rest of the building.

The Great Gatchina Palace is a palace in Gatchina, Leningrad Oblast, Russia. It was built from 1766 to 1781 by Antonio Rinaldi for Count Grigori Grigoryevich Orlov, who was a favourite of Catherine the Great, in Gatchina, a suburb of the royal capital Saint Petersburg. The Gatchina Palace combines classical architecture and themes of a medieval castle with ornate interiors typical of Russian classicism, located on a hill in central Gatchina next to Lake Serebryany. The Gatchina Palace became one of the favourite residences of the Russian Imperial Family, and during the 19th century was an important site of Russian politics. Since the February Revolution in 1917 it has been a museum and public park, and received UNESCO World Heritage Site status in 1990.

“When Russian Tzar is fishing, Europe can wait” was said here more than hundred years ago. Lot of stories connected with this place. If you sick and tired from Spb maybe you have a royal blood, go to Gatchina like true Tzars did)

Empress gave this palace to her lover who killed her husband, the emperor. When lover died she gave the palace to her son, who hated her and loved his killed Emperor father. Son became the emperor himself and build a brand new palace-castle where he was killed by his men.
Do you still need the GoT if you have real history of Russian Empire?

A very beautiful place. A bit underrated. Tourists skip this destination.
