Grand stone framework of a centuries-old monastery site built on a bend in the Moselle River.
Nice ruins. Was here in December/January 2021/2022 and it was closed (can't go inside the ruins) so don't know if it's open normally or not but it looks nice and the path to go there is either doable by car, foot or bike. Last 200m or so is a dirt road so not advisable by car or city bike (mountain bike would be fine I think).
Would definitely go there after hiking the Calmont route or visiting Bremm/Eller.

A beautiful and old ruin. With a nice place to swim

The ruin itself does not provide a lot. Just by being there it adds to the greatness of the big Mosel bend
Dominik Schweizer — Google review
It is bit difficult to enter the monastery, as there is an iron fence in the gates. It is possible for moderately athletic people to climb over the fence. In the summer, lizards can be spotted in large numbers behind the main ruins. Nice for a walk.

Even though I did not enter the ruin, we went down to the river to swim in it. Nice view, great place to hang out

What is there to say? An interesting ruined monestry.
You can test everything with paying 20euro for the glass. The manager was very attentive and explained a lot about the wine.

Great experience, self service tasting of endless Mosel wines for 18 Euros. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Fargo DonWargo — Google review
The wine museum was closed indefinitely, but we were able to explore the wine cellar. The tasting was $20+ euros with access to over 300 wines, which seemed worth it even though we originally went for the museum. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff and most wines were stocked. Would definitely recommend!

I was here last time 2 years ago. It was a super concept, for 18 euros a lot of wine to taste. Last year we went to this place but the tasting was not possible due to COVID. I can not find if the tasting is at the moment possible again. Somebody some info for me?
John Jaspers — Google review
My wife and I stop in every once in a while when we go to Bernkastel-Kues. Honestly a great deal on their wines and the ability to taste test before hand is a fine experience. We've even brought friends. Polite service everytime we've stopped by.
Travis Norris — Google review
You can taste everything and then buy what you like. And they have more than a hundred local wines with useful info. Nothing in English, though. Anyway, I ended up buying 12 bottles and a few of them where quite special. Highly recommended!

Awesome experience, great prices!
The Truth — Google review
A superb discovery where you can help yourself to taste over 100 local wines from small to large producers at your own pace for €18 (or less if you have a Bernkastel guest pass). Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff (who very kindly spoke good English!) who were very helpful and not at all pushy to sell. You can then either buy a glass and enjoy there with a warm Pretzel, or purchase to take with you, all excellent value. A great way to introduce yourself to a wide range of Mosel wines.
Dan Ma — Google review
Unaccommodating and inflexible staff. Came 2.5 hours before closing and wouldn’t do a tasting or serve a drink, despite the fact we were only in this region for one day told us to come back another time. Won’t be going again.
C R — Google review
Be sure to pay a visit to the impressive cellar. A good selection of Mosel wines can be bought. The wine guide was very enthusiastic. Prices for the wines are about the same as on the domains. Highly recommended for wine lovers!
Kristof Van der Haegen — Google review
Being an adult in the modern world is hard, but sometimes you pay a flat price to be let loose in a cellar with full access to over 100 German wines, and things seem OK for a while.
Our wry and hilariously intractable host demonstrated the Good and Proper way to taste wine in impeccably German fashion, then jotted down a few of his favorite wines before setting us free to taste on our own. It was an overwhelming amount of freedom, and my only regret is not coming earlier in the day to allow more time for tasting. We couldn't resist buying a few bottles, and they were all very reasonably priced. This is a fantastic way to give your palate a good starting map of Mosel wine, and I would happily come back for Round 2.
Located in Bernkastel, Weingut Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler is a renowned winery offering a cultural immersion into the heart and soul of Moselle winemaking. Visitors can enjoy a one-hour wine tasting experience led by knowledgeable sommeliers, providing insights into different varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir.
Very good options of quality wine! A lovely lady provided us a lovely degustation and tour around! Very nice experience, we left with 4 cases of wine and we will be back ! ;)

We were welcomed by Monika, a kind lady who knows her wine! She gave us tastings of their Trockens, as we prefer the dry rheislings. It was a lovely visit and we were happy to buy a few bottles.

(Translated by Google) Today we were with ten people (all
around 50 years old) for wine tasting. We had barely entered the building when it said: €19 per person. We have to do it now, otherwise it will be chaotic later.
Now we know why we are cashing in straight away. Nobody would want to pay for it afterwards.
There were 5 different wines for tasting. Everyone was given a small sip of wine. In homeopathic doses. Tap water to neutralize. Dry little pieces of bread. There were also 50 other guests there with us. Totally overcrowded. A lady to pour for everyone. Seemed overwhelmed. It was very loud due to the large number of guests.
Conclusion: Not recommended! Rip off!

5 verschiedene Weine gab es zur Verkostung. Jeder bekam einen kleinen Schluck Wein eingeschenkt. In homöopathischer Dosis. Leitungswasser zum neutralisieren. Trockene kleine Brotstückchen. This museum was one of the most beautiful I have seen. There was a lot to learn about how they carved all the stones and gems and who invented it.
There are really beautiful stones and statues of creatures (as you can see in the pictures).
The employees are very nice and helped you if needed. There are a lot of cool things you can buy in the store!
This is a really good place to go if you love stones, gems and statues!

The Felsenkirche, a small church with a rich history, is nestled within the face of a rocky hill. Its exterior stands out amidst the rocks, while the entrance can be found through a cave-like tunnel. The interior of the church is also carved into the rock, creating an awe-inspiring sight. Perched above the city of Idar-Oberstein, this hidden gem boasts a cross made from precious stones, showcasing the town's renowned craftsmanship.
If you like history and ancient buildings this is a great place to go, a church that at the very beginning of the construction it was a castle.
When you are inside you are able to see how some of the walls are just rock of the mountain.
Very interesting place with an amazing story. We had an excellent guide that explained every single corner of the place.
The tour was made in German and one of our friends translated in to English. I didn’t ask if they offer a tour in English but I think it should be possible.
The best way to go inside is to order a tour, is nothing expensive but you need to consider that is at least for 8 people.

Amazing church carved directly into the rock face. A bit of a walk to get to it. A small spring is inside. Interesting story behind this church. Beautiful view from inside and above. Castle ruin nearby. No parking at the church but plenty in the village. Well worth the trip if you are in the area.

Church build inside the rocky hill. The exterior of the church stands out of the rocks, but the entrance is through a cavelike tunnel and also the interior is build into the rocks. Amazing place! Beautiful over the city. As Idar-Oberstein is famous for its precious stones, of course the church has a cross made of these. Seeing how few reviews and pictures this place has, it's a hidden gem.

I was there in 1977 man it has changed before it was just a small room with about 6-8 benches and a small alter. Bare walls just like a cave I love it
Ricardo Murphy — Google review
Nice place built on a cliff side but mediocre on the inside . . The cool thing is that the entrance is through a tunnel built into the mountain
From the people running the visitor centre to the guys conducting the tour, it was excellent.
The walk up to the entrance is quite arduous for us oldies and then you have to walk down wet stairs, to get to the tunnels.
The tour takes quite a while and is a fair bit of walking. Loud noises abound as some of the ventilation and engines still work, and they are demonstrated!
Super interesting, a unique experience.
The English tour was at 1500, French and German language tours are also available.
Gary Sawyer — Google review
I highly recommend the guided tour, it lasts about 3 hours. It will take you inside and down to see all the different spaces: ammunition storage, barracks, kitchens...
Tours leave either around 10 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon, so check in advance to know when there will be one in your language. Wear comfortable shoes and consider bringing a sweater and jacket as it can get cold inside the tunnels (even during the summer). There is free parking.

Amazing glimpse into the Magniot Line fortifications - the bunker system is incredibly well preserved and huge in scope! The 3 hour tour is great value at 12 euros, although if you want it in English you have to book ahead (I jumped on a German tour but knowing some WW2 background helped me understand most of it through context). Bring something to keep you or kids warm as it's about 9 Celsius in the bunker and you quickly chill!
Info in English is essentially nonexistent, but to see some of the above-ground structures and tank/infantry defences you'll need to follow the red and green trails (no charge). I just drove slightly north and parked on the E85 road which has easier access - you can't miss the tank defences!
All-in-all a great attraction and great value - I highly recommended the tour.

Very interesting for military history buffs, or even engineers. Knowledgeable guide, but call/email ahead if you want an English tour. I did, and it went very well.

Simsershof is a gross ouvrage of the Maginot line near Bitche. It was one of the largest built to provide artillery support for the surrounding petite ouvrages of that extraordinary defensive work. It held the big guns and was very extensive. It's combat blocks were linked by an elaborate electric tramway system. Tours are guided and cost 10eu. The tour begins with a 10minute multi screen presentation, mostly old newsreels, which give a historical background to the fort. The tour itself takes in only the accommodation and munitions storage areas of the site. I gained the impression from several websites that you could visit a combat block via the tramway but this was not the case, so it was a bit disappointing.
The guide was knowledgeable enough but not particularly enthusiastic and did little to explain the actual way the fort was used in battle. A much better understanding of this can be gained by visiting nearby fort Casso. There is a concession available for visiting both.
The fort itself is in an indifferent state of preservation with water leaking in and corrosion and rust on many surfaces. It is dank and looks its age. The elevator doesnt work so its 160 steps down from the entrance to the ground floor, although the exit is on the ground level. I cant understand why they did this as having both entrance and exit on the ground level would make the ouvrage more accessible for mobility impared visitors. Perhaps this is a possibility on reguest. So would fixing the lift and getting a tramway working.
The air filtration and generating systems are working however and the guide activated them to demonstrate the racket the poor soldiers would have endured. The kitchens catered for about 900 soldiers and were impressive, as was a typical menue. Beef in endless variations, plus wine and champagne for a treat.
Simserhof makes up for its shortcomings with its sheer size. A visitor will gain an appreciation of the extraordinary scale of the defensive enterprise, the Maginot line, and the immense expense in its construction.
One should wear warm clothes however as the temperature 30m underground is about 13 ° all year round.

You have a film in the beginning about the history of the maginot line after 15 min I went on the tour. The tour gide I had was very nice and gave all the information that was to give which was nice too. Also bring a jacket I forgot 😂

Imposing 17th-century citadel with a chapel & a museum focusing on the 1870 Franco-Prussian war.
The impressive fortress is clearly medieval. I am very sorry that I could not come during working hours to enter the fort, but there is a better side to the visit. When you get to the entrance, you have a path around the entire fortress and from all sides you can see the city of Bitsch, a very nice and pleasant view of the city. The only thing I can tell you is to warm up because there is a strong and sharp wind. The parking lot is huge and can accommodate a lot of guests. The visit was superb.

I am not always a fan of movies trying to be historically accurate, but I have to admit that the one you follow during the visit of the citadelle is pretty well made. Learning about the war of 1870 - which even French schools barely touch on - was very interesting. And the views from the citadel are pretty interesting. Don't miss the orientation table above the coffee and souvenir shop.

Definitely worth a visit. Look’s nothing from outside but the tunnels are fantastic and you learn all about the Franco Prussian war in an interesting and well filmed way. We were there for 2 hours when really we should have been moving on but it was so good.

Visiting this cute little French city has been on our list for sometime now. 📃
We stopped at the 📍Citadel of Bitche 🇫🇷 and really enjoyed exploring the very well kept underground fortress. Numerous stops along the underground tour boasted videos depicting the war between France and Germany. One of the coolest parts were the headphones that came with the self guided tour. When you get to a certain location, they are activated and will begin giving you a history of the area you are currently in. Really neat!

We didn't go in to the Citadel, but there was a lovely walk around the walls with glorious views over the town.

Very historical and well kept. The entrance fee includes an audio tour of the Citadel. Be warned the underground video tour contains some graphic images (including nudity and blood). It was really cool to watch and learn about the history. Audio guides came in English, French, and German.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Wave pools & the 190m-long Master Blaster water slide, plus a wild river with tropical vegetation.
What a fantastic place for families with kids! The indoor pool is amazing. Temperature is around 30C or 87F, so is the water. The pool is under a huge glass dome with palm trees inside. There are several pool areas and slides. The indoor pool connects to an outside area, where you can have fun under waterfalls, simulated currents, etc. Every 30 minutes, they make artificial waves in the main indoor pool. There is a separate pool for toddlers with sand. And another water playground with water cannons for kids. Supermarket, bars, restaurants are all located in the same building where the pool area is. Traffic is closed for motorized vehicles within the park. You either walk, bike, or use the golf carts available for rent to get from your cabin to the pool, restaurant, etc. There are also several outdoor playgrounds scattered over the park and one building features cool indoor playgrounds. Also available: tennis court, pony rides, adventure park, and a lot more. Awesome park!

Visited on a friday after noon, there are 4 medium slides, 1 small, kids area, "body rafting slid" swimming pool, wave pool, jacuzzi and kids area. We had fun, we felt it was expensive comparing similar experiences, paid 145 euro for 3 persons. There was unpleasant small in the dressing area. It was written they are planning shut down for renovations from april, maybe this will improve the overall expriance

A bit busy, no signs in English all in french and German. Have preferred the aqua mundo in Bois aux daims and de vosemeren
Gareth Woodward — Google review
A very important point! The staff does not adequately monitor the condition of the equipment in the water park. To explain, the tubing for sliding down the enclosed water slide is poorly inflated and does not secure the rider. During my slide, my deflated tube caused me to flip over and be covered by the tube. I hit my cheekbone on the bottom of the slide and suffered a back muscle strain. This is a real health hazard!
Alexey Grekov — Google review
The water throughout is simply way too cold to stay in there for longer than 15 minutes. People are complaining all over, and the waterpark is full of shivering kids.
Mario Domisse — Google review
The water park with its green house construction is amazing. The water is at 29degrees Celsius, which is great. The water slides are very good as well. A great experience was the “River”. Probably the aqua mundo is the best feature of the park.
In the Main building there are NO places to sit and relax or wait. The only sits are the ones at the restaurants.
Avoid Saturday and Sunday if you want to enjoy. Too many people during the weekend.
Modified in my second visit.

Amazing, highly reccommend !
Parc is very beautiful and you can spend all day in Aquapark. There are some original activities such as climing wall over water and the Crazy river!
If you take a daily pass (without accommodation, you can also visit the farm and indoor amazing playground for free)
Sebastien Rabaud — Google review
Overall, it's not half bad. This Aqua Mundo is located in what is reportedly the largest Centre Parcs village. You definitely get that feeling from time to time here. We stayed for a week and the first few days were OK. The pool was busy but not crowded however by midweek it was very busy. The main/wave pool was like people soup, not much option for actual swimming and the rides were packed, even witnessing a couple of people being stretchered off from the rapids. Talking of rides, when it's busy, the queues were very long with waits of 15 minutes not uncommon and on a couple of occasions the rides were closed early, leading to disappointment.
Talking of disappointment, the pool isn't open all day so even though there is a poolside cafe it closes with the pool for 1.5 hours over lunch meaning you also need to plan your morning or early afternoon around the pool times if you want to get in for more than 1 hour. Finally, getting in and out. It's bedlam there are so many people and not enough changing areas and even if you do want to leave the pool at that time, you can't as you have to pass through a cubicle.
Finally, security. The park has a modern bracelet system for accessing your villa and storing activity tickets which also works as a locker key. Issue is, they don't always work and while the locker looks shut, it can pop back open. We fell foul of that and the result was the loss of all my daughters clothes, so we made sure to be extra vigilant after that.
Sounds negative but it was mostly OK, just want to share the "real" experience. Bigger is not always better.
Yuri — Google review
2.5⭐️ - For bigger children this might be a lot of fun, but for smaller kids (and parents) it‘s way too crowded and cold. The pool for small children is colder than the main pool. Why?!
Most importantly, for the amount of cottages they have in this park, the adventure pool area needs to be much much larger. It’s so incredibly crowded that there is literally no place to relax (even for a minute) as a parent or to not be trampled on in the pool.

The tourist attraction known as the Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane is a boat-lift that was constructed to replace 17 locks on the Marne-Rhine canal. It allows canal barges to be lifted up an incline, providing a unique and impressive experience for visitors. The attraction offers a cruise down the incline and along the lower level canal before returning back up the incline. Visitors should note that language barriers are not an issue, as guides are often multilingual.

Fortified castle with a tumultuous history, perched upon rocks overlooking the Alsace Plain.
On top of a hill next to Saverne you can find the ruins of a castle, built on top of a rock, that may remind you of the Colorado region. The climb to the top can be made by stairs, however it is recommended to pay attention to the risks of this activity and if you're having kids, to keep them close and under attention. If you don't like heights better admire from the ground.
You also have a restaurant next so you can enjoy a drink, meal or cafe.
The "drawback" is that the only thing you will see there are the ruins and the nice views, not more.

Sitting on a large red stone rock this castle gives us a glimpse at the engineering that's was involved in building massive structures in difficult conditions about 1,000 years ago. I always imagine how it felt centuries ago to stand up there and see the Strasbourg cathedral in the distance. Wow.
And you may want to give a try to the restaurant Là Haut right in the middle of the castle. Foods great, people are welcoming, views are breathtaking.

Great view,
Non typical castle build on rocks. Magnificent view on forest around and city on bottom.
Free entry, restaurant in, free toilet, free parking.
Must see if you around this place. Unfortunately common fog in early winter may block the view for neighbors.

Food was good, just enough though. Maybe i was unlucky with the portion since the person in the next table have ordered the same dish but the portion was much bigger. The stuff was polite but very stressed. Of course it was very busy period.

Very beautiful place and an ideal way to start beautiful hikes. The restaurant is a bit out of touch in the castle, but it can be a plus of course if you are hungry :-).
We lacked a bit of history on the place. There were some information panels, but overall there is not a real way to grasp the full story.

A lot of ruined castles around in Alsace. This one is relatively easy to get to and the views from it are great. No entry fee! There is a restaurant here too if you want a small drink or bite.

A well restored castle that is easy to explore on your own. All the signs with information on the exhibits are in English too. Even though we went at what Google said was the busiest time of day, the castle wasn’t crowded and there was parking easily available along the road leading up to the castle. There is also an amazing view from the castle so try to go when it isn’t too cloudy.

A magnificent old castle overlooking the plains of Alsace. The walking through the forest leading to the castle is so pleasant! Will go back if having an opportunity.
A nice little garden to calm down. Lots of benches to sit down and enjoy nature. You can buy some local goods at the store or have a drink. It was rather dry during my visit. Still well worth the trip.

The Royal Palace is a must-visit event that offers an impressive show, likened to the grandeur of the Moulin Rouge in Paris but with a larger stage and more affordable prices. The performances are captivating, featuring fantastic artists that provide top-notch entertainment. While some visitors found the food to be good but not exceptional, the overall experience of the show is highly recommended. Guests have expressed their enjoyment and satisfaction with the incredible performances and great value for money at this amazing venue.
Close to Strasbourg, 30km drive, surprisingly a real international class cabaret, outstanding spectacle!
I recommend to have dinner before at Le Versailles Restaurant, one of their 2 located in the complex, nice menu.
And the last part of the night, joining the final party at The Lounge, night club dedicated only to the guests of the cabaret!
A real outstanding evening!!

Very nice show. Very impressive.
The only small draw back was the food - it was good but not quite at the expectations.
However, I recommend you to see the show, it really worths it.

One of the events you should visit onces in a lifetime. Compare the shows with the Moulin Rouge in Paris but with bigger stage and olso important, less expensive. 5 euro for a Crement d´alsace rosé! The Moulin Rouge is of corse the original, and if you prefer more nudity then you should try the Crazy Horse in Paris.

Very suprising great evening. Coincidently went there as being our interim stopover to our planned highlight of our vacation. Instead this has become our highlight. + The restaurant, the show and the lounge are well organised. The chefs, the staff and the artists work hard and efficient.
- Concerning the show, I have noticed lately a transition from adult cabaret towards a general audience musical.
Radu Rotaru — Google review
Famous cabaret show, offers a complete evening and night of entertainment.
We had a great dinner in the restaurant Versailles, very kitch decorations but good food and decent wines. Don't go there for a quiet dinner for 2 though, everybody is cramped on large tables. There is live music and possibilities to dance.
The show was amazing (Flamboyant) with the acrobatic tours, the dancing nice and the singing ok.
The lounge club is a very nice way to finish the evening since there is nothing else to do in the region. Service is quick and friendly, music is not too loud, still possible to have a conversation, and the dance floor was quickly filled with hits from seventies up to today.

The Castle of Fleckenstein is a medieval fortress located on a striking rock formation, offering guided tours and various activities. It's an ideal destination for families, with ample parking and easy access to the welcome center where you can purchase tickets, souvenirs, and enjoy refreshments. Visitors can opt for the kids challenge trail or explore the castle ruins at their own pace. The site is also kid-friendly, providing information brochures in English and German.
Very neat castle with great views. The walk to the castle is rather easy, but walking around the castle would be difficult if you have mobility issues. The cost to get in was only 5 euro and the food at the cafe was great. I highly recommend visiting this castle.
Justin O — Google review
Great 360 views! The castle fortress is in ruins (well kept) but there are some panels explaining life in a castle like this and some information on the history of the Fleckenstein family, who ruled over it some centuries ago. Beware the darkest parts inside and the narrow staircases (use your smartphone's lantern). Good value for money. There's also a kids area - recommended.

Excellent place to visit! Kid and family friendly—this is a place you’ll be sad you missed if you’re visiting the area. There’s ample parking for whatever sized vehicle you’ve got. My minivan had no problems. From there, it’s a short hike to the welcome center—tickets, souvenirs, sitting area, and cafe. Fair priced and quick service! Then, you either go on the kid’s challenge trail OR head directly to the ruins. Visiting the ruins is included in the cost of the kids challenge trail. For my family of 5 (with a 4, 6, and 8 year old), we did the kids challenge trail. It engages the kids as the parents get to soak in the views, and it teaches everyone the history of the area. This ends up taking you on a nature hike thru the woods, and up to the actual ruins. The ruins are amazing—you can feel the history, and are granted some spectacular views. My kids loved it, and my wife and I noted how easy it was to get there, spend a day, and never think twice about much. It’s about an hour and a half from the Kaiserslautern area. The staff speaks German, French, and a fair bit of English. 100% recommend this place!
Will Thompson — Google review
A good place to go with kids. It cost 5 euro, 3 euro for teens and we enjoyed looking around the castle. You can get information brochure in English as well as German.
Emma — Google review
What a place. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with one other adult and my three kids ages 5,3, and 1.5 years. I wore the baby and the other two walked (with some shoulder riding from parking lot for the 3yo). We entered the parking lot at the first entrance, not realizing (or stopping to read the sign) that you can drive all the way to the end of it and be a few minutes walk closer to the trail entrance. Once at the end of the parking lot, or after the sharp turn in the road after the beginning of the lot, you’ll see a trail in the woods that runs parallel to the road (which is at this point restricted to buses or staff only). The trail took us about 10 minutes and has some cool stuff about mining to see along the way. It might have been stroller accessible for an offroading stroller, but we didn’t bring one as there is no way to use it in the castle. Once you get to the information center, you’re in a small little courtyard of sorts, with the ticket and gift shop on the left, a restaurant at the far end, a kids feature on the right (an additional fee that we didn’t purchase), and bathrooms at the entrance on the right. We purchased tickets for us adults as the kids were free (€10 total I believe) and set off to the castle, which took another 5-10 minutes of walking. Once you’re at the castle, there are tons of staircases, both paved and uneven stony ones, in and out of the castle, to explore. It feels like you could get lost in such a good way, with secret staircases and little rooms hidden off the side of halls and stairs. There are fun stories for the kids to follow about someone named Hugo discovering the ruins, and they do a great job with sighs explaining what areas were used for and images showing how it might have been used. The best part of the castle, though, is the top, where it feels like you’re in a castle in the sky. Mind blowing to thing of how they made this castle so long ago, so high on this rock formation. The views are spectacular, even if all you see is forest and other rock formations. There are apparently a few other castles in the area, presumably on a hiking route, but we didn’t have enough time or energy to continue explaining. After the castle, we had ice cream at the cafe and bought toys for the kids at the store (I was pleasantly surprised at the prices). Most of the food was pre prepared quiches and wurst and whatnot which we didn’t want. Overall, this was an amazing afternoon trip that took about 2-3 hours total, for us with about 20 minutes of walking in shade on a forest path with tons of stair climbing once in the castle, for a very reasonable price for adults.

Very nice visitors center and cafeteria... Very cool ruined Schloss with an interesting history. Had a neat set up for the kids, an interactive tour from one section of the ruins to the next. Ruins are part of a large Forrest preserve with hiking trails that lead to several other castles. 👌
Trifels' Castle is an 11th-century fortress situated on the highest of three sandstone bluffs overlooking Annweiler, Germany. The castle, built with red sandstone, offers a permanent reproduction exhibition of crown jewels. It holds significant historical importance and provides stunning views of the surrounding area. Trifels' Castle can be reached through a beautiful walk amidst nature and is nearly deserted these days making parking uncomplicated.
Amazing views! And very interesting castle, definitely worth the effort getting up the hill!

A great place to visit, especially these days. Nearly deserted there is no problem with parking. Came here today for a "quick stop" after visiting the Historische Walddusche with my three kids ages 6,4 , and 2 years. I had seen signs on the way there and recognized the name from my "lower priority" list of things to see while here in Germany, and figured we'd check it out since we were in the area. I wish I had known was a great castle this was, otherwise I would have left much more than the 1 hour we had before it closed at 6pm on this August weekday afternoon. We parked at the dedicated parking lot near Barbarossa and a food kiosk (which was closing when we got there at 4:30); there was also a "playground" along the "steep" path to the castle, which consisted of a single slide). I put my youngest in a baby carrier and had the older two walk. The man running the kiosk suggested I take the longer but less steep route behind the barricade for cars, which I did. This walk took about 15 minutes walking at a decent pace (once I put the 4 year old on my shoulders) and was a little over 1km. We ended up taking the "steeper" path on the way back, which was about 800 km and honestly didn't seem that steep; I'd likely choose to do that for the ascent if we were do to it again. Both were gravel paths clear of any roots or large rocks and would likely be possible for a heavy duty stroller, if you don't mind pushing one uphill. The path is largely shaded, thankfully, and has a couple of benches along the way as well as a viewpoint with a telescope to pay to use.
The castle itself is the perfect balance between ruin and restoration. You can tell which parts are restored, which is always nice. The exterior is BEAUTIFUL in terms of magnificence of the structure and the 360* amazing views from many places (top of the castle, top of a tower, front of the castle atop the rock formation, etc). The interior is perfectly understated - the restored walls and accents and minimal decor and furnishings do a great job of allowing you the opportunity to enjoy its splendor without being distracted by reproduction furniture and art. There is a beautiful display of reproduced items such as a crown and sword and scepter. There are SO MANY STAIRCASES, most of which are redundant (I think there were really only 2-3 end points that they all lead to), all safe and sturdy and well lit with googd handles. The tops of the towers and all viewpoints had solid high walls that my kids couldn't climb over or fall through. There was a room with an educational (I assume, as it was in German) video to watch about the castle with ample seating. There were free bathrooms on the exterior at the base of the castle, as well as a few picnic tables. The castle kasse had souvenir coins but NO FOOD OR DRINKS OR ICE CREAM. It was inexpensive (kids were free, I was 4.50 euro).
Overall, this is a BEAUTIFUL well balanced (between ruin and restoration) castle that is somewhat easily accessed (with at least 10 minutes of walking uphill on a gravel path) from a dedicated parking lot, which itself has two food and drink options. I wish I had left more than an hour to explore, though we did manage to see the whole thing in about 45 minutes walking as fast as I could corral the kids. Bring good shoes and cash, and food if you don't plan on eating at the parking lot restaurant options.

Smaller than expected...but I can definitely see why it lasted so long. It's location is amazing, and the views offered once atop the castle are breathtaking. P.s. sorry for the bad pictures 😏

We went there mostly to hike the forest of the area, however the rich history of the castle was a welcome delighting element which adds not only to the landscape, but to the overall experience of the Anweilerer-Burgenweg. A reasonable detour to the Hohenberg put the tour just over 18 km, and added great views and some more adventurous trails to the tour.
Augusto Granados — Google review
A grand palace on top of the hill providing a beautiful view of the towns surrounding it and the valleys formed by the sister hills. The trek up to it is refreshing. There is a small entry fee. You can get a student discount as well. There's a mini show inside depicting the history of the castle.
Would definitely recommend if you're in the vicinity of Karlsruhe.
Struthof, also known as the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp, is a significant historical site as it is the only Nazi concentration camp located on present-day French territory. The original buildings and displays provide a chilling insight into the horror of the Second World War. Visitors are taken back in time to understand what prisoners endured during that dark period. The place has been renovated, but it still retains its historical significance.
The place takes back in the time.
It makes you feel what prisoners have gone through during those time.
Of course the place is renovated and hence, you see new paint and all.
But I guess it is due to the old construction.
It took us approx 2.5 hours to see all.
Personal Guide is available but only in french. However you can get audio guide in almost all European languages and in English as well.

In the main area where you buy your tickets all the written text is English German and French this changes instantly in the main museum building where the most information is. barely anything translated to English no mention of an audio guide. the place is impressive tho you can't really see much apart from the watchtowers, fences, a gallow and the direction table. the gas chamber is offsite and free to visit. you can drive up with the car if you dont want to walk, there is a trilingual member of staff to talk to.

I'm don't like this place. How can you like it. There's no tribute or criticism. We can never forget. I am, however, glad that this Struthof exists. My mother once said, there is no understanding of evil like this because to understand it may yield an excuse for evil. If you google Struthof you can find stories that describe the pictures I've posted.
Go to this historic place. Go there. Support the effort to never forget. There is so much more than what i've shared.

Well worth a visit, but come in time ! We arrived at 3pm and ended the visit at 5:30pm, without wasting time. Great brochure in French describing the fort and its main characteristics'. Beautiful point of view over the valley and hills the fort is overlooking. A big thank to the team and association that is managing this place, and a special thank to the person who talked endlessly with us about the fort, its history, and answering our many questions !

First, if you follow the GPS it will make you pass in the forest, very small road and hard to drive.a lot of holes. If I have one advice try to take the highway even if u will pay. But its worth it to do, everybody is nice, its very well kept and fun fact there was no fight in this bunker. A big part of the visit its underground. You can see how they use to live.

I visited spontaneously Fort Mutzig and surprisingly I was able to join a guided tour. you have to experience the place personally. no pictures or video can leave such a deep impression as the real thing. I was also lucky that a very nice lady with fantastic knowledge easily gave a lot of background information in three languages.
Peter Warden — Google review
There wasn't an English speaking tour guide available, but they did offer a very good tour aid written in English, and we managed to join a French Tour that had only just started. The areas for exhibit are in remarkable good condition.
BEWARE: the very first steep tunnel you need to take can be VERY SLIPPERY! The tour guide told us this, but without my husband to translate, I would have bowled over the rest of our group behind me. There are plain bricks to either side of the smooth pavers in the middle of the path (this makes sense when you see it), WALK ON THE PLAIN BRICKS! Future slanted tunnels were far less likely to be so treacherous, but it's sound advice for the whole thing as the tunnels often have water leaking in, and we went on a dry, sunny day.
TAKE A SWEATER! It can be quite cold in the tunnels, you'll be going on a subterranean tour! Only a sweater, though, as there is plenty of walking, and as you make your way back towards the exit, you begin to feel quite warm.
DO NOT WANDER OFF! Only 10% of the tunnels have been converted to a public exhibit. The remaining 90% belongs to the ACTIVE MILITARY INSTALLATION on the site! I didn't test those boundaries, but it probably doesn't end well should you find your way to someone working there.
Overall, it's an amazing view of turn of the century innovation. No bunkers had been built like this, and these were the first to employ electricity allowing many capabilities never before dreamed of in the sort.

These fortifications are a brilliant example of German ingenuity. Places at a very strategic position,. The impenetrable bunkers in the Bas-Rhin department of France were built by Germany at the end of the 19th century to defend Strasbourg. The French now keep this heritage in pristine condition and are more than willing tot explain everything,

Absolutely beautiful visit, it is a great time passer on a very hot day since most of the visit is underground. Count at least 2h, very nice guides explaining the history, and one of the largest underground complex you can actually visit. Obviously the bunkers have been stripped of most of the hardware and it is ww1 technically so not as interesting as a ww2 bunker, but i would definitely recommend a visit if you are into this kind of place.
You can also walk around unattended at your own pace, and Dogs are allowed!

Our trip to this fortress was a real surprise for the entire family. On beforehand we had no real expectations but the visit was well worth it.
Parking space was plentiful and staff behind the counter was friendly and helpful. We did the full round trip in the part of the fortress that is open for the public. It took indeed around 1.5 hours as the lady at the desk already told us. Also a good tip from here was to take a sweater or jacket with you inside the fortress because it can be very cold inside. We received a printed guide in English because all written information in the fortress is in french.
We really liked to see the living accommodations of the soldiers and the working scale models of the big guns defending the fortress. The kids were also impressed by the old guns they could touch. All in all well worth a visit!

Impressively large. Almost the entire tour takes place underground, so bring a shirt to keep warm. The long tunnels are a sight to behold.
Laurids Binderup — Google review
This state-of-the-art subterranean fortress was a marvel of 1890s engineering: it had electricity, recycled water supplies, generators, powered ventilation, supplies for three months for 7000 troops, and even prototype tanks.
By the time WWI broke out, it was technologically redundant, and was never defended in battle.
It's a fascinating location, well-worth visiting. Check the website for information beforehand, as the site is usually only accessible with a volunteer guide.

Fortification built in the 1930s as part of the Maginot Line defenses, with guided tours for groups.
If you have any interest in military history, this is a must-visit!
You can easily spend two hours walking through these tunnels, reading about all the ways the French defended Alsace from the Germans.
Bring good walking shoes. You may also get cold underground, even if in the summer.

Really, really big bunker. Be prepared for a long and cold walk. And for being humbled and impressed by the giant engineering endeavour that took place here.
Lots of signs in French, German and English give a good idea of what it was like in the bunker during the war.
If you want to do at least one bunker in the area, do this one.

This is a must see for history buffs. Saved by super friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable people like Noah who we meet at one of the cannon turrets. I highly recommend descending into the bowels of the earth to experience what it was like to defend France in 1940. Walk the 1000s of metres of tunnels connecting where the men lived to where they fought. Lessons from Verdun incorporated into a model and impregnable fortress.
This amazing piece of engineering still stands today restored to how it was when the undefeated garrison of Schoenenbourg were ordered to leave the fort in July 1940 a week after Armistice.
We pay our respects to those brave men who stood fast during those difficult times.

Maginot Line Fort Schoenenbourg
Hunspach France
How cool is it to explore this facility.
Yes it is cool and damp to me.
Bring a jacket!
" An unforgettable visit 30 m underground along 3-km long tunnels to understand the operations of a large ouvrage of the Maginot Line, built to protect us from attacks. "
The fort at Schoenenbourg, the most important Maginot Line fortification in Alsace, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It comprises 8 blocks for 650 men. You can tour the barracks, the kitchens, the command post, the generating plant, see gun positions, retractable gun turrets, magazines for the ammunition. Documents on the history of the Maginot Line and on military life in a fort are on display.
Doug Cosenzo — Google review
Well preserved and unbelievably extensive, it's an underground town. The artifacts are amazing, power generators, air scrubbers, guns, shells and a turret with the lifting mechanism to visit via a 1km tunnel. Be aware, it's a bit chilly. There is a lot of walking to do which may cause problems for children and the elderly/infirm. Documentation and descriptions are good. Also a good pub/restaurant for lunch in the nearby village if you arrive before opening time !

Stunning and well worth a visit. The Maginot defence is a line of concrete fortifications (inc underground), obstacles and weapon installations built by France in the 1930s to deter invasion by Germany. Consequently, the Germans invaded through Netherlands and Belgium in 1940, passing it to the north. The use therefore of the Line failed as it was supposed to be fully extended further towards the west to avoid such an occurrence, was finally scaled back in response to demands from Belgium.
Constructed on the French side of its borders with Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium, the line did not extend to the English Channel.
The Maginot Line was invulnerable to aerial bombings and tank fire; it featured underground railways as a backup. It also had state-of-the-art living conditions for garrisoned troops, supplying air conditioning and eating areas.
However, the French line was weak near the Ardennes - a rough terrain, seen as an unlikely invasion route of German forces; if it were traversed, it would be done at a slow rate that would allow the French time to bring up reserves and counterattacks. However the German invasion exploited this weak point - a rapid advance through the forest and across the River Meuse encircled much of the Allied forces, resulting in a sizeable force having to be evacuated at Dunkirk and leaving the troops to the south unable to mount an effective resistance to the German invasion of France.

The place is amazing and it is a witness to some history, I have only read in books about. The Fort is a huge underground structure with kilometers of underground tunnels and facilities. The team that maintains it is continuously working and the results are apparent. Would recommend to anyone with even remote interest of new history.
Note: the temperature in the underground tunnels is pretty much constant, which means cold in the summer. Make sure you have a jacket when entering.

We didn't have a guide but there were 2 people stationed within that were very knowledgeable for any questions we had. Lots of easy, flat walking. Even the kids who don't have alot of interest in this type of thing enjoyed it. Tickets are purchased on site.

Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is a 12th-century mountain fortress that has been restored with an artillery platform, medieval garden and royal rooms. The ruins of this beautiful castle were gifted to the German emperor Wilhelm II in 1901 by the town of Selestat. Visitors should reserve tickets online in advance as picnics are not allowed inside and there is only a small cafeteria available. The tour includes many stairs distributed across different levels but offers breathtaking views.
Castliest of the castles. Really well laid out tour of the chateau with some amazing views as well. Though they warn of a lot of steps, they come in smallish chunks as you tour different levels, so don't let the stairs count scare you off.

This is a medieval castle which has a unique history where the ownership has changed between Germany and France. You get to see a lot of rooms on your visit and spectacular scenery of the surrounding hills. Prepare to climb lots of steps. I liked seeing the stained glass windows. There's information cards in each of the rooms. Unfortunately there were no audio guides left on the day we visited, which was a bank holiday weekend. I would advise to get there early because the parking is on street and limited. You might end up walking far to reach the castle. But it's certainly worth a visit.

No handicap access. Must be able to walk up and down hills and steps. No elevator access. Other than that, it's a great place to visit!! We had a beautiful day, 19C degrees and blue skies. The castle/fortress is beautiful and well described by the audio guide. It took us about 2 hours to go through. Don't skip the gift shop! It has unique gifts and we received a coupon for 2 drinks & pastries when we spent over 100€. Look at the photos to understand the beautiful and all these walls contain. Doors open at 9:15am and close at 6om.

Overpriced for its worth. Not sure why everyone says it's worth a visit. You can get the best views overlooking the city without even entering the castle. The castle overall was just okay. Keep in mind that there is no open area on top for photos. You can only take photos from the windows.
There is a small cafe on the side. A good plan would be to drive up top and just relax at the cafe and enjoy the views.
Parking: Lots and lots of parking spots along the mountain. We were unsure and parked quite a bit far away when we saw a parking spot. But there were many more that we saw while we walked up.

A beautiful castle, allows access with the car and you can enter it's yard for free, but of you want to go up the castle, you'd have to get a ticket and go up 300 stairs.
We skipped the stairs as we were with a baby, but we didn't regret it - the view is breathtaking and the castle itself leaves you in awe.
I was surprised we could access all the way into the castle with our baby stroller, we don't really feel comfortable with the baby carrier, so if you're looking for a castle that's easily accessible, this is a great place to visit.
Also, there's a small café and gift shop before going up the castle and they have a great coffee with whipped cream on top.
We highly recommend this one!

Very good castle on the great view spot. Unfortunately, not too many decorations were saved inside the castle.
Also, due to many narrow paths inside and many people be prepared to wait for some time to walk around. Maybe letting people inside by small groups would solve the issue of chaotic movement

Up on the heights of Orschwiller, the outline of this imposing building can be seen from far across the plain. Visitors can't come to Alsace without paying a visit to one of its most popular monuments, which offers an outstanding view and in clear weather you can sometimes see the Alps.
When visitors enter the Castle of Haut-Kœnigsbourg through its main gate, they embark on a journey back into the Middle Ages... Its courtyard, forge, mill, spiral staircases, drawbridges, arms room, keep and canons are constant reminders of the original purpose of this mountaintop fortress.
Built in the 12th century, over the years it belonged to a series of illustrious owners. It was Emperor William II who decided to restore it.
It was used as a film location for the film "La Grande Illusion", but also "Les aventures d'Arsène Lupin" by Jacques Becker, not to mention a number of scenes from the film "Agent trouble" by Jean-Pierre Mocky.
Its unique atmosphere has fascinated many artists. Come along and discover the charm of this amazing Alsatian site for yourself...
Nearby, visitors can also visit the Volerie des Aigles (Eagle Park) and the Montagne des Singes (Monkey Mountain).

A beautiful place mostly from the outside. The inside is also interesting but can be visited in an hour. The views of the top towers are amazing though and certainly are worth checking out. There are many staircases so not a very easy to visit castle for older people or people with disabilities. And it's not expensive (7 euros for students.) Enjoy!

(Translated by Google) The very pretty station, well, the old part, is hidden behind a horrendous modernist façade...
The connections between tracks are well marked and signposted, and the trains are generally accessible. There are tables and chargers, shops of all kinds and fast food.
The 3 stars comes from the fact that, at night they close the station, it is filled with drunk beggars (this is the fault of security, but above all of the city itself).
It is the second time that we have to spend the night there, and it is impossible, we have to walk around the city at dawn.

3. Panoramic view from above.
4.Free toilet.
The downside is that the old architecture inside has been removed, so the inside of the dam feels a bit empty.

Beautiful view of the towers and the Cathedral. You can go upstairs up until 5pm I think.

This is quite a relaxing place to enjoy in Strasbourg. Although it’s quite a historical dam, defense system built in the 17th century, and a short walk from the busier La Petit France, this area is a bit quieter and perfect for a stroll or sitting down on the benches and enjoying the serenity surrounding this area. There are several cafes and restaurants nearby as well. You could also take the boat rides along the river Ill (if you had the time) that goes around this area.

Barrage Vauban in Strasbourg (France) is an amazing site to explore European history from the 12th-15th century, mesmerizing old style designed homes, enjoying the markets full of souvenirs and taste the food from across the World. Had a great time during our visit here. There is also a big Cathedral here, one of the highest in France

Great sights, almost in the heart of Strasbourg. From here you have a great view of the city and the water canals. It's also an important link across the river. Entrance is free of charge.
Petite France, a bustling tourist center in the city, is renowned for its well-preserved half-timbered homes like the Tanners' House that was constructed in 1572. The area's cobblestone streets and canals add to its charm. Barrage Vauban, a covered bridge and dam from the 17th century, has a terrace which offers breathtaking views of the surroundings.
The Cathedral of Strasbourg is a beautiful, gothic edifice built in 1187 to 1439 with a 16th-century astronomical clock and rose window. It is considered the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874 and still the sixth tallest church today. The walls of the cathedral keep a 1000-year history of luck and disappointment, victorious victories and unforgivable defeats.
What a wonderful cathedral!! The clock inside is really neat. I loved the nativity scenes and I'm so glad they were still up when we went in January. We climbed up the tower, which was a highlight of our entire vacation!

This is a must see location if you are within 100 miles. Strasbourg the old city is just incredible for old buildings and interesting sites. The Cathedral is very impressive from the outside and the inside is just Great. The altar and the backdrop are very well done. The stained glass is amazing as well. I walked to the top of the Cathedral and highly recommend doing this if you can. Great views and interesting views of the Cathedral as you climb.

Very impressive building! Inside pretty dark and some part is still in renovation. The clock on the right side worth to see. I enjoyed visiting it. The most spectacular was illumination show, special lights and music at night. Wow!

Very impressive cathedral. Specially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting.cathedral is very big. Inside always prayers are going on.
recommend to visit at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.
Infront of cathedral many shop having so many instruments and also live paintings will be going on.

Exceptional views, beautiful architecture, in my eyes it is a must to visit during your stay in Strasbourg. Ticket is absolutely worth it, considering the effort to climb the way up. Inside the cathedral entry is free. The size, area, mosaics made me deeply think how much time and effort it took to create and build this miracle. Miraculous❤️..

Absolutely beautiful! There is an amazing clock in the back right corner that does a little something every 15 minutes. It’s not amazing but it’s cute and fun to see if you’re around. The gift shop was great and some good finds for good prices. The nativity scene inside was absolutely gorgeous!

This was a beautiful cathedral in a beautiful city. Had such a great time. There is a little train right outside that you can take for 8 euro that will give you a tour of the petite France area.

Came over from offenburg Germany. It was a short drive. It was on a French holiday so I think it was extra busy. The cathedral was very pretty. You could walk around on your own. There was no English translations quite. If you get an app on your phone you can just shine it on the signs and it'll read it in English for you. It was a recording picking on every now and then to ask us to shush. Although I don't think we were being loud, the crowd was in the church at that time.

Behold the awe-inspiring Strasbourg Cathedral 🏰✨ A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, this iconic symbol in France stands tall with centuries of history. From its intricate facade to the panoramic views from the tower, every detail whispers tales of resilience and grandeur.

I have seen many Gothic cathedrals. But I was amazed by the beauty and grandeur of Strasbourg Cathedral. Its size is impressive, its stained glass windows lead to ecstasy. This is a masterpiece of medieval Gothic architecture.

I was surprised to discover that this is also a beautiful cathedral. It is not that far from the one in Paris. The line to get in (on the left of the front side) is for free but can get very long. The line for going up to the tower (on the right side) has a cost. Definitely recommended!

Fantastic place, great both inside and outside. Definitely one of the most beautiful cathedral where I've been. Stunning view when you see it between narrow streets.
Acoustics inside also very nice.
Definitely worth to visit.

Very impressive cathedral. It is breathtaking to look up and realize how small we are. It is a very historical cathedral and 142 m high. It is for free to go up the stairs. The view has to be amazing. Unfortunately the queue on weekends especially sundays is too long. But the city has a very nice atmosphere. I liked and enjoyed it a lot.

The cathedral is breathtaking from every angle, with stained glass, spires, and intricate designs living every inch of the building. You won’t find yourself bored when visiting here. I waited for maybe a minute to get inside and did not have to pay. Niece inside you are free to walk around within the designated areas. If you are feeling in the mood, you can buy and light a candle in the cathedral. There is also two gift shops!

Absolutely beautiful but at the same time has to make you question the money and power of the church. It is a beautiful sight but the people could benefit in so many more ways than the enormous expense building.

Very impressive cathedral especially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting. I highly recommend visiting again at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.

A wonderful cathedral, truly a work of art in every way. Entrance is free into the church, but a ticket of 8.5 euro to take the stairs up - which you must do, the views are spectacular {approx 300 steps up and 300 down, on a spiral staircase}. The clock at the back is a marvel to behold, from the 16th century. The church area is peaceful, take some time to sit and reflect no matter your religion.

The Cathédrale Notre Dame of Strasbourg is a magnificent cathedral in Strasbourg. It's tall and carries rich architectural heritage of historic France. The outside is full of intricate sculptures and details. Inside, colorful stained glass windows light up the place when the sun is out. You can climb up to the top for amazing views of the city and the ticket costs €8. It's a must-visit if you're in Strasbourg.

Today is a sunny day and it’s a nice opportunity to take photos of The Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg. No fee to enter the Cathedral, only security check on bags.
It’s a Saturday and there were many people around the square. Part of the Cathedral is under renovation, yet we still managed to see the major parts of the building.
A historical building with impressive architecture.
A local friend gave us some tips. The best time To go up to the top of the cathedral is around lunch time. Sensible and perfect idea 👍🏻

Wasn’t a huge fan of Strasbourg overall, but the cathedral is absolutely worthy of the trip; it is imposingly beautiful inside and out. You can see the cathedral from just about anywhere in the city and it’s still difficult to fathom the size of it once you’re upon it. It was stunning.

Beautiful Historic Monument. Probably one of the most beautiful religious cathedral from France.
Specific times to get in
The astronomical clock is impressive and has so many resources and surprises.
The man speaking once in a while on the microphone to ask people to turn the volume down is the one making most of the noise.
Go visit this landmark.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful work of art!! Breathtaking views!!! Well worth the price. If you are afraid of heights do not go on the tower. My daughters had no issues.
Chris Underhill — Google review
The most conspicuous building in Strasbourg. It’s full of beauty and historical charm. There are lots things to see - external decorations, climbing to the top to have a great view of the city, internal decorations and carpets. Finally there is the Astronomical clock inside. The history of the cathedral reflects the history of the city which is breathtaking. In front of the church you can find lots of Noel markets in the holiday season in winter.
This museum is dedicated to the history and culture of Alsace, a region in eastern France. It contains more than 5,000 artifacts and artworks from throughout the region's pre-industrial and early industrial history. Some highlights include displays on Alsatian art, folklore, and rural life, as well as reconstructions of homes and stores from the pre-industrial era.
It's a must visit if you have a couple of hours in Strasbourg. Very well setup museum with good explanation (remember to ask for the audio guide at the ticket desk since they don't hand it out as default).
Explains the history, the architecture, the dress code, the furniture, the stains used in the furniture, the sections of a typical house. The section on religion and especially the part on the exhibition in Nancy is boring

While in Strasbourg I saw this museum that explains the life of alsatians from the past and present. As a French I discovered that I knew almost nothing about them. It was very interesting! Also the museum was well made with some representation of old house and clothes. The staff who welcomed us was so friendly too. Think it’s a nice museum if you want to learn more about the culture of this part of France.

Such an interesting collection of exhibits in a beautifully restored building. The artifacts and scenes of daily life that have been reconstructed are well done and help to show what life was like in the area hundreds of years ago.
The museum is right next to the river and only a few minutes walk from the other sites in old town. We arrived without tickets on a weekend and had no problem getting in immediately.

Visited on the 18th Nov 2021, cold grey afternoon in Strasbourg. Small but compact museum in a traditional Alsatian house with a courtyard.
Its the information about Christmas, Hans Trapp, St Nicholas, Advent calendars that kept me amused.
Great place to get lost in the past times of Alsace.
Murali Krishna Sayana — Google review
Very interesting museum with lots of artifacts providing a vivid glimpse of life in older Alsace. A slight downside was the shortage of audio guides when we arrived. This limited the information to mostly French and German but still provided an interesting experience. Maybe get there early for a guide in English.

Cosy, but rather standard small museum. Good collection, navigation, not overcrowded.
If you are museum fun advise to buy a day ticket and visit half a dozen of nearby museums (mostly near the Cathedral).
Natalia Ischenko — Google review
Very nice museum. Not too crowded during the holidays. There are no elevators and you go up 2 floors. They give a great overview of the Alsace region, culture and people. The museum is mostly trilingual with it's signage in French, English and German. There was no option to buy tickets online.

Great museum, also interesting for children (my 5 year old really enjoyed the "Easter egg hunt" at the museum). It's great to see an old Strasbourg building from the inside and get an appreciation of how the rooms were arranged. I thought the first half of the museum was better than the second half. The second half had perhaps too much about that exhibition in Nancy. It was interesting that part of it was a "museum about a museum" (as the museum was already set up in 1906). Definitely worth a visit, also with children!

I went on the first Sunday of the month (which made it free) and I found it interesting, but had I paid to get in I don’t feel it would have been a good use of money. There is lots of information on how people in the city used to live with 26 set areas you can walk through. If you like very educational museums this may be for you.

Very informative museum by the banks of the river Ill about everything of importance in Alsatian history. Each room is dedicated to a different facet of Alsatian home and business life. It also includes good information about the various religious communities and practices present in Alsace for centuries, first Christianity and Judaism, and then later the split of Christianity into Catholic, Protestant, and Lutheran factions, with Strasbourg also being a center of the Reformation. The museum is spread out over three old houses and many storeys with balconies and courtyards. It was a pleasure to explore it all.

This charming museum features an extensive collection of artifacts, showcasing the region's folklore, crafts, and customs. It's a great museum to get an idea of how the Alsatians were living before. It reminded me of the life that my grandmother was living in Romania. Similar wooden houses, tools. The entrance is 7.50 EUR. If you visit other museums you pay less.

Strasbourg's Parc de l'Orangerie is a large and well-maintained park that is one of the city's most popular attractions. It features flower-lined gardens, a boating lake, playgrounds for children, and various other attractions. It is also home to monuments and sculptures, including the Europe Parliament building.

Lovely park near the city center and next to the European Parliament.

You can also find a café and a bowling alley right next to the car park.

Beautiful space to roam and play with kids. We came here on the hottest day of the summer (100 degrees F* on a June Sunday) and still enjoyed ourselves. We went to the pond, mechanic car kids track, the zoo, the fountain by the manor, and the playground and were sad to leave. Definitely worth a trip here if you’re in the area! Enjoy the storks, as the park is a reservation for them.

One of the most magnificent parks that I have ever been too, if not THE most. The park itself is massive and has so much to offer. Lots of places to picnic, playgrounds, ponds and areas to boat. The flower gardens were my favorite and the storks of course! This is a must if you’re in the area. My only advice is to wear shoes/clothes you feel comfortable getting dirty because the paths aren’t paved, so it can get very dusty especially if there is a bit of wind.
A very lovely evening, drops of rain falling from the black blue sky. Atmosphere is very romantic and we are all friends chilling and enjoying the monuments of Lahr. Today, someone brought bunches of flowers because we are waiting to the Halloween ceremony nowadays.
