The Chateau Comtal, a 12th-century castle situated atop a hill in the medieval walled city of Cite de Carcassonne, has been restored and transformed into a museum. Once the abode of influential feudal lords, this Medieval castle underwent several modifications over time. It was originally built by Bernard Aton on top of a Gallo-Roman structure and comprised two primary buildings along with the massive Pinte watchtower that stood over 30 meters tall.
Absolutely beautiful. There is so much to do. You could spend an entire day just exploring the medieval part of the city. It's hard to find public washrooms but there are many restaurants that offer them. You really feel like you're in a fairytale

Truly an epitome of the medieval history ! It’s a huge chateau, with spectacular views of the city ! The good thing is if you are fond of history, this place offers a relaxed and detailed stroll through the castle! We visited in March on a rainy day, so it was rather isolated which made it that much easier for us😀 if visiting in summer, you can also get a view of the vineyards in distance and it’s incredible !!

It was 14 July that I visited. Some part of castle are close maybe because of fireworks.
Recommend to buy ticket online. You can go straight to checker with priority and no need to wait.

Best views in the Cité. Walk around the inside of the castle walls along the battlements and see inside the famous Château Comtal. This is the heart of the ancient fortress and if you are visiting Carcassonne this is well worth a visit and should not be missed. It takes around 45 minutes to view the interior of the building and then another 30 - 45 minutes to walk 400m along the battlements and through each of the watchtowers along the walls. An incredible walk.
Mr Pickle — Google review
Fantastic place to visit, you can walk around the towers and along the outer walls and find out about the remodelling and restoration work done. It could really do with a better museum though - there was nothing to explain the timeline of the buildings outside of the famous Cathar period.

Amazing place well worth the approx 2 hrs for a visit. Well priced and free under 18. Go early to avoid slow flow and book a ticket in advance.

Really beautiful, renovated castle with parts dating back to the eleventh century. Information provided in French, English and Spanish with audio guides available at extra cost. Stunning views of the city. Not suitable for disabled or older people.

Together with a good friend.

Beautiful castle with a fantastic view. Castle entrance a bit unclear marked on google maps. Certain route to the castle is not allowed. You need a ticket to visit the castle, the advantage is if you are under 26 you can enter for free!
the Castle is immense and has many historical features. From the walls surrounding the castle you can see the entire region and the city of Carcassonne.
Beautiful view.
We had a ticket where the time slot only started 40 minutes later, but the person at the entrance was kind enough to let us in.
Not really recommended for people who can't do stairs well because there are a lot of them! but good for the condition/work out.
All in all fantastic visit! highly recommended!
Bram aka Stitch — Google review
It is such a beautiful ancient castle. Strongly recommended!!! You have enough time to walk through inside and surround places. When you are standing in somewhere this place, you will be thinking what happened in the past here. If you were born in that century, wow! This is a message from people who used to live here at that time. Lol. I really love in those architecture and decorating ideas. I would suggest a one day trip here that you should have at least 3 hours to explore this wonderful castle. Lastly, I really need to be here once more time if I could have that chance.
Please leave or share your thoughts together below for other tourists and your friends.

Really enjoyed walking around this historic sight. Good tour of the Chateau with audio. Plenty to see and surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants.

Gorgeous gorgeous castle. In the four days I was in the city I went to the castle about 5 times. Very pretty from any angle and any side street. And the inside of the castle is stunning. Definitely recommend to visit at any time of the day. I didn’t get a chance to experience it but I was told by a local friend that it presents spectacular sunset views (from the west side of the castle obviously). Great history and amazing architectural structure.

I’ve visited Carcassonne some times but it’s my first visit to it’s Castle, the Château Comtal. The visit was about one hour begun at the main entrance and finished near Basilic Saint-Nazaire. We’ve visited the castle which is empty, it’s museum and had a long walk up and down the long Carcassonne’s inner curtain wall passing sommes towers and chapel. I love the long walk as it offers amazing views of the medieval city of Carcassonne and it’s surrounding. Need to say there are quite a few stairs to go up and down, even some tiny spiral staircases. We’ve learned some amusing facts and legends at the museum. Ticket is 9.5 € / adult, free for under 25 years old ( ressortissants EU). We bought our ticket online to skip the line.

Well worth the visit and entrance price. More popular than I thought it'd be. Wish the night experience was offered during other parts of the year and not only summer. We visited in May and wish we could've seen the walls at night too. But during the day definitely still worth it.
Andrew Todtenkopf — Google review
Hands down one of my favourite castle experiences ever, not only because it was a stunning castle and absolute massive, but because it was less than €10 for entry. This price includes being able to walk along the ramparts which offer unparalleled views towards the mountains and across the city. A must do if in Carcassonne!
Nicole Culbert — Google review
This is the central ring of the castle of the cité (Citadelle) of Carcassonne in France. Extensive and intensive experience. Very well restored, buildings from different eras, some of them older than our own era. Others (most of them) made during the XII century, and some others from the XIV century, and a restoration made during the XIX century. You can walk through the towers perimeter, see them from inside out. Very well documented.
Alfons Gonzalez Perez — Google review
So much history and stonework. Easy parking just before the paid parking. Getting crowded as peak season is approaching
Graeme Debenham — Google review
Comtal Castle is the prime example of a medieval castle within a city. It has been tactifully restored with the rebuilding of roofs and some new brick. It is about 10 euro to enter depending on what category you are However for EU citzens who are 16-25 it is free.
There are information placards throughout with just enough information explaing what a partiuclar wall, turret etc was used for.
Inside the courtyard there are toilets but not drinking water.
The main section will take about 50 minutes with the ramparts walk (that goes around half of the city) took about 30 minutes.
If you buy tickets online you can just walk straight on in.

Very nice place if you want to spend some time in with yourself & even with family. Nice brasserie and restaurants.
Beenay Kumar Boojhowon — Google review
Very nice, fully restored. For 9.50 you get to see inside the castle and walk around the ramparts. I recommend spending another three for the audio guide as you will get a bit more information on the history of the castle and the use of the fortifications. If you don't want to spend that money you can still visit the rest of the medieval city for free.
dim pagia — Google review
An amazingly complete and being restored fortress and chateau
Great place just to walk around and imagine what it must have been like 700 to 1000 years ago
Fabulous architecture.
You can go back many times and still see new things.
To gain access to the ramparts of Cite Medievale, one must purchase admission to the Chateau et Remparts. This keep was constructed for the viscounts of Carcassonne in the 12th century and includes access to other parts of the castle. Although strollers are not permitted, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from this beautiful landmark, which offers some of the best vantage points in Carcassonne.
Super impressive and stunning views. It was worth every penny!

I have mobility issues and knew going in that the stairs would be an adventure for me. However, I also knew that I did not want to miss the opportunity to explore the castle from the ramparts. It provided phenomenal views and was a great experience. There was more to it than I expected, too. I had to spend the next day recovering, but I'm very glad I got to experience it.

Beautiful place, stunning views-the best in Carcassonne. Staff is rude, not very pleasant people.

Super impresive castle!
Cost 9€ and didnt book in advance.
Quite busy though
Long waits and queues for almost everything but its a really good plan to spend a day close to Toulouse
Patrii TM — Google review
Probably a five star out of season, but in the crowds La Cite felt like medieval Disneyland on Easter Saturday. The Ramparts were the best part, but even here it was one long queue around the block. Amazing views, though, and I don't think there's anything else like it in the world. I got some pictures that captured the feel of a medieval castle of the edge of the Pyrenees, even if I felt like a tourist being shoved and jostled while I took them.
Tim P — Google review
My third visit to this castle and it still thrills me, it’s a wonderful place to visit and incredibly well looked after. Allow 2 hours to visit the museum and walk the ramparts. Most of the quality shops are now gone (but try Little Julie for leather goods) so keep your money for places that are not tourist traps.
lisadomino — Google review
Very good visit, but prepare yourselves for a long walk
Very good tip. They dont allow to bring strollers, if you want to take yours you need to leave them unprotected :(
Marcos Trevi?o Rodr?guez — Google review
Love this place, loads of charm and history. Great restaurants and shops can be found inside the city walls
Carl Dawes — Google review
If you are visiting Carcassonne then the old city is a must do on your list. Go into the paid area which is the chateau. You can just get a ticket on the day in the off season but you need to get a ticket online in the summer and select a time. When you are online select the chateau as that has access to the ramparts. The ramparts option has no days to select. It takes about 1.5 hours to walk around and has a lot of steps but it’s worth it to do as you can get great photos. Walking around the outside is alright and we did that on another day and had lunch in one of the many places to eat but if you only have a short time then do the paid chateau visit.
Darren Perera — Google review
Absolutely worth every penny.
The way they have planned the walk of the castle you get to see every part.
Be warned the walk is a full lap plus half of the internal walls... Approx 3.5km according to Google.
MML Reviews — Google review
It's a very impressive fortress with one of the best walls/medieval defence that I have seen so far. Also the view to the surroundings is excellent.
Buuut most of the buildings inside are now tourist shops, restaurants and so on and the whole place is crowded buy tourist even during off-season. I really don't want to see this madness in summer.
Julian Warnke — Google review
They were spectacular. But this week was rather crowded and many tourists were in town, so the atmosphere wasn't that great
Chin Zhi Hui — Google review
Pretty vast, with stunning views and many different towers. Must visit when in town, might be a bit crowded at times so I'd suggest getting tickets online in advance. The process for that is pretty easy. Also, if you take your time and stroll through, you might end up needing 90 minutes instead of the advertised 60. At least that was the case for us.
Jonathan Bekker — Google review
9.50 EUR entry and it was not busy. Highly recommended to visit this historic castle as you walk inside it but note here there are a lot of steps so not easily accessible. You can spend a good hour or two here exploring this castle with great views over Carcassone.
Romantic ruins of an 11th-century Cathar castle perched on a crag with scenic views to the coast.
Terrifying beautiful!
I went during initial spring time and I was mesmerize with the trail that leads to the castle, it looks like taken out of RPG medieval game.
It takes a bit of effort and it is bit dangerous they didn't spent much of the 10 million reform in security (I would say it is not very advisable to take kids here), but the views and atmosphere make it a must see if you are in the region. Next day I went to Carcassonne, but I did prefer this experience, way wilder.
Bottom line I think this was the coolest castle I ever visited although it is just a ruin the views and trail make worth it.

It’s one of the 5 ‘sons of Carcassonne’ - the great ancient castles near the amazing city. This one is in the best condition and is at the most height within its ‘brothers’. Very interesting place to have a look.

Absolutely stunning views as you walk to the Fortress. It’s amazing how they built these places! It just takes you back! One of my favourite places that I’ve been to ❤️
sally ewing — Google review
Interesting site with beautiful views. Most of what you see is build by king Louis the sacred, not by the Kathares (because he destroyed it, and rebuild it), still interesting. The audio-guide is of very bad quality; trying to be nice for children as well as for adults. The result is horrible and not nice for the both. Not much information either, and the english as well as the german version is very bad to understand as a not native speaker of both of those languages. So read it from a book or internet or whatever.

Great “Cathar” castle with phenomenal views of the surrounding countryside
Joel Rosen — Google review
Another spectacular Cathar castle vying for the top spot. Almost 3 castles in one, this place is amazing and offers equally mega views to Queribus. A little more wild and be careful placing your feet this one is definitely worth the climb. Loved it!
Dave Brown — Google review
It is a ruined castle at a peak. Requires a short hike to reach the ruins. There is a staircase to climb to the summit of the ruins where you can see 360 degrees around you on a clear sunny day.
Krishani Dinali Perera — Google review
Ah nice little historical tourist trap. The drive up is a workout for your car and bike. make sure your cooling works. Its a ruin and cost 7 euro to enter. After entering its about a 1.5km hike on a small rocky path which i don't think is suitable for people with knee or health issues.
Moronic Smurf — Google review
Great castle on top of a mountain with spectacular views all around. It is a bit of a hike up so you get your cardio as well!
Ivan Vrabie — Google review
Nice place. Beautiful views from the ruins of the medieval castle. Be ready for a 15 minutes hike over a narrow and rocky trail to get to the castle from the visiting center. In summer take water.

So worth the climb for the stunning views. Skip the audio guide and make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring a water bottle. Toilets available near the entrance and there are vending machines with cold drinks at the welcome center.

Les Orgues d'Ille sur Tet is a natural wonder featuring tall pillars of white sandy rock sculpted by water erosion, creating a unique and enchanting landscape often referred to as "Fairy Chimneys." The site offers striking views and is an ideal spot for a leisurely walk. Visitors can explore the constantly changing rock formations while learning about their natural history through educational signs. Although the area can get hot in the summer, it's worth visiting for its breathtaking beauty.
Doesn't taken too long, but absolutely worth every minute!

Great site: Stunning what beauty natural erosion processes can create! If you are around there a must-see. A bit hot in the summer (drink a bit beforehand or take a bottle of water if visiting between June and August), but just a short walk a little incline upwards from the parking lot. Very educational signs that explain the natural history, friendly staff.

We visited with my family, and although our visit was short, the place was still magnificent. We paid €60 for four tickets for a 20-30 minute visit. To be honest, I have visited a much better grotto (Jeita Grotto) in Lebanon for a much cheaper price. I recommend that they reduce the price to €5. It is definitely not worth €15 per person

Very nice to visit. Impressive gallery. Just not used to getting asked tips for a 45eur family ticket of 3. Please pay your employees (which I assume you do as custom in EU) and don't go US style as it will make everything increasingly more expensive

A wonderful self paced tour with audio guide provides an excellent look into the making of the cave and its history. Wide open cavern is god if you do t like small spaces. Allow 1-1.5 hours from parking to driving away. Hiking path above the caves is a good contrast. Below along the main road is the small town with some restaurants.

Amazing cave, it has one big hall which is enormous and full of crystal formations. We went for the underground river tour, it takes over three hours and you should be in good physical condition since the tour starts and ends at the top of the aforementioned gigantic hall but the river is in 200 meters deep - which means lots of stairs and climbing. It's absolutely worth it though! It's really quiet down there and eerily beautiful, you can really feel it's millions of years old. Our guide was helpful, funny and gave detailed information about the cave - all in French. Bring good shoes and an extra pair to change into when you're done, you're gonna walk in knee deep water and you're gonna love it!

Surrounded my beautiful scenery. You can also book to go caving and canoeing with experts which looked brilliant, but not my thing.

Great experience on the subterranean River activity. Our guide Romain was amazing, very knowledgeable. A morning well spent in an awe inspiring setting.

💯 percent worth the drive up into the hills for an hour exploring in this awesome cavern. Caving for the normal person, on an easy route, great audio guide, and amazing views.

This was a great experience, 400 million year old cave. Good set up with audio guide and all numbered. Recommend this on your visit to this area.

Amazing, site. 3rd or 4th time I've done the tour. Lovely and cool on a hot day. Great host, tour audio-guide available in multiple languages. It's a must see.

An awesome underground cavern, well worth a visit. Very well organised and a handy recorded guide is included to give you clear explanations of the rock formations and history of the caves. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, high in the hills.
Red-brick fortress built to guard the French/Spanish border, open for guided or unaccompanied tours.
We arrived quite late during the day and since neither of us spoke french very well and another tour just started one of the tourguides, a very nice lady, just did a spontaneous tour in English.
We would like to rate the Fortress experience a 5 star rating, but the lady really knocked it out of the park and created a special moment for us.
Thank you for the tour and the nice chats.

A huge fortress, powerful walls, and an incredible number of different routes inside. The guide speaks a mixture of French and Spanish, but surprisingly, you understand everything. The services of a guide are included in the ticket price and it is definitely worth joining the tour, since you can only get to the upper floor with a guide. I recommend it!

What a beautiful place! I went on my motorcycle from Spain with little time , so i couldn't see it in full, but what I saw I loved. I'll be back with more time.
They asked for a Covid passport.

Quite breathtaking in its size and majesty. Huge thick walls and a fascinating history. The trebuchet and cannons on display are really interesting and we had the place to ourselves. Our 10 year old loved the games area which was a welcome distraction.

A very nice team with competent people who understood my disability and made the guided tour manageable. The castle is full of stories, beautiful, and the museum is absolutely interesting. Go there without doubt. (Guided tour might not be in English but many indications are written, and guide sheet available too)

Fantastic day out for a sunny or rainy day. It is one of the largest and most impressive castles I have been to. There are loads of interactive games and animations for the children to enjoy.
This castle is truly impressive and now offers translated guides and material in English and Spanish as well as French.
There is a tour in French which is definitely worthwhile even if you don’t understand the language.
€8 per adult and kids go free which is a bargain for the experience. A multi language audio guide would make it a five star experience.

The visit exceeded my expectation. Very well laid out and presented exhibitions and some audio visuals. Brought the history to life. Most information in French English and Spanish. Free parking. Highly recommended.

A masterpiece of European military architecture and exceptionally well preserved. Absolutely worth a visit when in the area. Admission is € 8 ( 2023). The keep is only accessible with a guided visit (in French), but you can roam the inner courtyard freely.

A revelation of a fortress! Not quite medieval, still not the modern fortresses of the 16th century, it guarded for a long time the Spanish-French border. A lot of defensive architecture innovations, all in an uniform style and still very well kept. The guide was most entertaining (in French). Great play room for kids.

Amazing place very well preserved. Very big building from 1000 B.C. that shows us an important part of the European History. The individual tour is not guided,It is just for groups. In this case more parts of the fortress are available for visitation. Parking is free , but small. Tickets for tour with fair price ( 8 EUR).

Such an awesome place to visit. I wish I knew French as the tour is French only speaking. Lower part of the fortress can be visited without a guide but the upper part of the fortress is guided tour only and I highly recommend it.
The Réserve Africaine de Sigean is a safari park and zoo that features African animals such as lions, gnus, and rhinos in both drive-through and walk-through areas. Visitors can observe these savanna animals in expansive enclosures that are well maintained. It is an ideal location for a day trip where visitors can enjoy lunch at one of the several snack bars available. The Sigean zoo is also dog friendly, making it accessible to pet owners looking for an exciting wildlife experience.
This is a great day out and they are dog friendly. The animals enclosures are big and are very well kept. They have several snack bars to get some lunch. We will definitely visit again

Very nice place, cool idea! You can have a "Safari" with your own car / camping car, driving around (queueing in August) among exotic animals wandering free!
After that, there is a walking only area with many others animals and attractions for children.
The whole route takes 4-5 hours -ish. Water available inside the park.
The only con is related to the safari part, if you go in August (or during high season) you will probably queue a lot waiting for people to take pictures of the animals.

Absolutely amazing! We went on a day trip from Spain to visit the reserve. The kids had a great time and the animals look very well taken care of. Well done to all staff for such an amazing job. 👏🏻👏🏻 I would say the bathrooms were dirty, maybe a little more care will be appreciated by the visitors.
Anisia Pienaar — Google review
It is ok for the less price.
We had a bad luck with a weather but still we managed to pass there a half of the day.
We liked the first driving part. It was interesting, animals were walking really close and that what you could name “safari”.
But, unfortunately, this part was short and the rest of the park was more close to a typical zoo. To compare zoo of Valencia and Barcelona, I liked more: more animals and better territory. A lot of zones were empty….
The restaurant of the park is not expensive but not tasty at all, in IKEA you could eat much better. The souvenir shop is incredibly expensive, 25 euros for the small animal toy looks ridicules.
To conclude, it is a good option if the price was double less, it doesn’t cost its price at all. And there are a lot of picnic zones on the open air where better to take something really tasty and enjoy your lunch.
Daria Iemelianova — Google review
Visited again in July 2023. A huge territory for a car ride and a walking tour. WC are free, there are restaurants where you can get a snack or have a full lunch. During my first visit the part of the reserve was closed because of the bird flu. This time I could discover their collection of birds, it's impressive.

We enjoyed our experience at this park. It’s quite rare you get to do a self-drive safari, especially in the middle of Europe. So, this is a once in a lifetime experience. There were lots of animals to see and the park is really well organised. Just that we keep in the super peak period and the self-drive was super slow from heavy traffic (tourists stopping to take photos). I would recommend to come as early as you can to avoid the traffic.
Nishanth S P — Google review
We fell in love with this reserve! We loved the idea that you get to see real predators through the window of your car at a pace you feel comfortable with. It was truly unique. Even though it was really hot (more than 30 degrees C), we saw all animals, even the lazy lions, and bears. There were also plenty of bovine animals walking freely and not being intimidated by the cars passing by. This part of the park took about an hour and a half. The rest of the park, which is accessible on foot, is a good 4-hour walk.
The sanitary parts were well-maintained and eating inside the park is not expensive, as one might expect. Also, there are proper indications throughout the entire park so you can never get lost. There are mist shower systems situated in several places to keep you cool. Last but not least, there are many taps with drinkable water (if you bring your dog, there are taps suited at about 30 cm above the ground, which are perfect for small dogs). Definitely recommend to all families and animal lovers!

I worked in Perpignan for a while so i visited what i could in the area :).
Been here with my fiancee, and didn't regret it at all. Was a pleasant day,not too warm, not too cold.
First part you travel in your car, we saw some black bears, some herbivorous animals like zebras, ostrichs and others. Than some Liones, actually one lion and some lionesses . Than we had a 4 hours walk , no rush and it was ok. Like a bigger zoo, animals with more space to run and play. No elephants or tigers, but for a walk in nature is a good place to go. The food is not the best and somehow expensive for what they offer. It is usually crowded, even if i went there outside the busy hours they say :).
After all it's a nice experience, worth going. This only if you haven't been in an actually Africa safari, than this will look like childish :).
adrian mircea — Google review
All in all this was a beautiful experience. We arrived reasonably early within the week (Monday, 9.30am) and it actually worked out really well. It wasn't too full, you can slowly drive through the Safari and it is an absolutely unique experience! Beware that the Lion part of the Safari opens at 10am, so we did have to wait for a moment before we could enter.
The Staff is super friendly and speaks English as well.
The Walkable Part of the Park is also really nice, with a lot of shade on the walkways and places to stop to eat/use the toilet etc. The enclosures seemed really nice to me, the animals weren't pacing and seemed really relaxed in general. There are some peacocks roaming around as well, which is pretty cool too.
All in all this was a great experience, and considering you can spend your entire day here and see all these beautiful animals this was definitely money well spent. I would always recommend!
Jennifer Schneider Díaz — Google review
That’s a huge park with very respectful and friendly way of treating animals. There is enough space for them as I can see. It doesn’t feel like a zoo. It’s more a window to a wildlife sanctuary. Even in winter you can find a restaurant to have some food. Meanwhile the infrastructure is really nice and well planned. There are parking, rest rooms, shops - everything that you may need after a long trip to this place. For sure this experience is worth it.
Kirill Maksimkin — Google review
Love this place. Seeing the animals as you drive was great then another whole part to walk.. need at least 3 hours if not more.. we went early amd was not to hot.. the hotter it get the more the animal stay in the shade. Also saw the flimgos being feed at 2pm was great so close . My 3 year old loved it.. but got tired on the walk part
June Murphy — Google review
The place is amazing. You can see alot of animals roam free. I highly recommend checking the feeding times of the animals, because that is the best time to visit them. You often see animals directly on the road. Be aware that the food isn't anything special at the place.
Venelin Dimitrov — Google review
We went in April 2023, in the morning. You should book in advance and you’re given an entry time (tolerance of 15-30 minutes if I remember correctly) - the website has all the info:
There are 2 parts. One visited inside the car (wild animals):
The wild animals were moving freely, but very visible since the food is next to the road where the cars circulate.
The animals looked “happy”, although bears and lions were sleeping (maybe their natural way).
The second part:
The park which can be visited on foot is very big, things distance apart, so be ready to use your shoes 😊
The restaurant has several options, including healthy ones. There are several coffee and ice cream shops around the park, with snacks, etc.
Regarding activities here (feeding animals, etc), there were not too many, nor information was very clear/ helpful. This is something to improve in my opinion.
I understand it’s intended to simulate a natural habitat , so I like that this is respected
Sandra Ventura Lopes — Google review
Best zoo/animal reserve experience that we’ve ever been to. The animals look healthy and happy with plenty of room to roam. This is what a zoo should be like. The staff is friendly and the experience itself was amazing. Definitely recommend even if it’s out of your way. Well worth the trip and would love to go back.
Zachary Huisman — Google review
The visit started out with a very long 40 minutes car queue to enter. We had already purchased our tickets, as requested in their website, but we noticed most cars hadn't. Hence the wait.
The first part of the tour is through the outer spaces were animals are free in the environment and visitors must be in their cars, with windows closed. To our astonishment, people lowered the car windows, offered food to animals, screamed at the animals and some even got out of their cars to photograph them. NO ONE FROM THE PARK DID ANYTHING. We were amazed.
Besides, the bears area had 3 bears only; we could only see 2 rhinoceros and lions were lying down in a space limited by an electric wire (over 10 meters away from the road)
Afterwards, we did the walking tour. We expected many more species and animals, larger spaces for them, but no. Animals are caged in spaces that evidently don't allow them to run or exercise as they would in the wild (so it feels more like a zoo than to a reservation).
The Vivarium doesn't have many species either.
It is a nice experience for kids, but we expected a lot more for the entrance fee.
Restaurants and snack bars are available in the walking area of the park, but food IS EXPENSIVE! And quality is not great. But I must say that fries were awesome!
The Saint-Just-et-Saint-Pasteur Cathedral in Narbonne, France was constructed between 1272 and 1340, but was never fully completed. It boasts a transept and a lofty choir that stands at 40 meters high. The cathedral is one of the tallest buildings in France and dominates Narbonne's old district.
Been coming to Narbonne for over 10 years and this was my first visit to the Cathedral. How beautiful and a credit to all those that are responsible for its upkeep.
Thank you.

Cathédrale Saint-Just et Saint-Pasteur is a beautiful cathedral with breathtaking stained glass windows, elegant chandeliers, intricate tapestries, and captivating paintings. The stone-sculpted chapel and massive organ add to its grandeur. Entry is free, making it a must-visit attraction in Narbonne. Don't miss the opportunity to explore this magnificent cathedral if you're in the area.

Wow, don't miss this on your visit it's Even worth a dedicated visit if you love old style architecture it dates from the 12 century a top tip is there are two sides to the main building visit the derelict ruins first then the main area afterwards, and when inside don't miss all the other areas in the cathedral.

This is one of the fascinating buildings, either incomplete (as in this case), or in ruins, that demonstrate, better than a completed edifice, the original plan of the builders. Here we have a complete choir with chapels containing a selection of works of art. Do not miss the cloister with its bizarre selection of gargoyles and pinnacles.

Impressive Cathedral located in the heart of the city. From the outside, you can notice it has a Gothic-tyle and has a beautiful tall bell tower. Inside, the Cathedral is even more beautiful, with stunning stained-glass windows and elaborate decorations. The organ is huge simply amazing. The staff is friendly and informative, and they're happy to answer any questions you may have. Definitely a must-see attraction in Narbonne.

While waiting for our train in Narbonne we decided to walk around and take a visit to the cathedral - we are so glad we did. There is so much history here and it is so grand for its age and location.

Les 9 Écluses de Fonseranes is a popular tourist destination that features a series of canal locks consisting of 9 flights. Visitors can witness the fascinating operation of the locks and enjoy stunning views of Beziers. The location also boasts an interactive cinema and restaurant at its visitor center. While there may be little shade, it offers an interesting experience for children with great toilets and a store available on site. A short walk away lies a water bridge, similar to those in photos.
Wonderful place to visit, kept very clean. You can picnic and there are boat rides and the little train comes too. Restaurant/bar at the top of the hill.
(7 of the 9 original locks remain functional).

A beautiful walk along the canal du midi leads you to the locks. There is a great cafe which you can watch the boats going through the locks and enjoy a delicious glass of wine! The tourist train leaves from here and for €8 it’s well worth the trip as it weaves through the streets of Béziers.

Nice locks, the best thing was the tourist train into Béziers. You can easily access and park here, then take the tourist train into the center of the city. Béziers is busy and brutal to drive into for a visit, using the tourist train from here made it easy to also see the centre of town

We took our Dutch barge through on our own with no other boats and what an experience ! After coming down the mighty Rhône…and through the Étang in quite windy weather, this was absolutely the highlight of the journey. It was amazing. Lauren the lock keeper was so helpful with information. All in all it was an unforgettable moment to pass through these locks of historical engineering built by men and women hundreds of years ago. Allows boats to be raised 21.5m (71ft) over a distance of 300m (980ft).

The Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire is a stunning 13th-century Roman Catholic church located on the site of a previous structure. It offers breathtaking panoramic views from its entrance, where visitors can find an employee offering tours (though not affiliated with the church). While the surrounding businesses and area may be somewhat quiet and in need of renovation, the cathedral itself provides incredible vistas of Languedoc from its high vantage point. Inside, one will find impressive architecture and decor.
A beautiful cathedral. It is even possible to climb the bell tower for free.
Worth a visit!

Beautiful cathedral with pretty panoramic views from the entrance. There's a table with an employee set up in the entrance to arrange tours, though not linked with the church, which I found kind of surprising, as I was seeking for info from the church. The surrounding businesses and area are fine for service, though it's a kind a sleepy and rundown town.

Anyways still a must if you visit Béziers.

Lovely Catholic cathedral in Carcassonne. Excellent stained glass windows and religious iconography. The only downside is that, as with the rest of Carcassonne, it can get very crowded with tourists and guided tours. If at all possible try to visit early in the day before the crowds get there.

So happy that they make all of the Cathedral (including the tower and cloisters) open to the public at no charge. The staff in the information booth are very nice and did their best to answer our questions. The view from the tower balcony is wonderful, in all directions. In such a small city, the altar and stained glass were exceptional. A "must see" sight in Béziers. We're going back on Sunday to hear the 17th century organ.
Aqualand Cap D'Agde is a waterpark with slides that swirl and plunge from great heights. Swimmers can have lots of fun racing each other on the playgrounds and splash pads around the park. The enormous pool is a place to just relax and soak up the French sun. Green lawn extends throughout, and you'll see sunbathers lounging anywhere, to take in the magnificent view.
Came here August 2019, Fairly over priced at €28 each. However between my party of 10 lads we had a right laugh, barely any queues and the rides were pretty awesome. Almost like reliving your youth haha. Locker and key situation is a bit daft but suppose not everything is perfect. If your in the area definitely worth a trip hence my 5star. And the waffles are to die for!!.

Reopening after covid, the restart went well.
A lot of people, sometimes long queue that makes people a bit excited; though this is acceptable. However the swimming pool was not super clean due to tree leaves falling down;
We had fun, restrictions on age could be harder on certain games that are quite challenging for young crowd.
Possible to eat onsite which is great but food quality is like McDonald’s.
Very noisy area as a lot of kids yell there :) this aqualand is very close to the beach so you would probably use it when the weather is not great, but actually it is also crowded when the weather is good. A bit outage the games still satisfies the youngest.

I imagine that this would have been a higher review if we'd been outside of Summer holiday time, but unfortunately the queues were ridiculous and we only went on two rides. The fast track system means that anyone in the normal queue has little chance of moving forwards - surely there's a compromise? Food outlets were ok, toilets were grim, lifeguards were attentive. Would consider going again at a less busy time and would definitely need fast track to make it worth while.

We take a picnic lunch with us as our girls are coeliac, and we have never seen any gf food available. We would recommend investing in a fast pass!
Carole Seddon — Google review
We went mid August. It was unpleasant all round. There were long queues getting in; once in, queues for the rides of 45m to 1hr whilst standing in the full sun; an inefficient system for the lockers; and general over-crowding. We left feeling like the owners cared more about making money than offering a great customer experience. On the plus side, there is a good selection of rides.
James Butterworth — Google review
Was a bit wary about going to the park as there have been some bad reviews, but generally this is similar to many of the other parks I've been to. Everything costs money, from the 25 euro entry, to the pictures with the parrot dude, to the rental on the sunlounger, most of which is optional (you can lay a towel out on the grass for example).
The place is popular, so be aware that you will have to queue upwards of 30 minutes for the better rides. Each ride has two queues, one to collect a mat or inflatable, and then another on the steps to the ride entrance. 20 euros or so gets you a VIP fast pass, and given that the day will cost you over €120 (for a family of 4) it kinda makes sense to invest. You skip the first queue, but not the second, but could save you well over an hour across a busy day.
A meal (think lightning fast McDonalds) will set you back €15, but it's decent quality fast food.
We spent 5 hours or so in the park, and really enjoyed it.
Be aware that they have a strict policy about baggy shorts and cotton t-shirts that can't be worn on the rides (lycra Ts are fine)..
Doogie K — Google review
Overcrowded during my visit. Slides are ok, but waiting 30-45 minutes for a slide took the fun out of it. The children's pool water was not heated like the other pools were. Some pools were also full of leaves and dirt.

We went for the first time with the family in June. The kids absolutely loved it which, lets face it, is the main thing. I think the ticket price was ok for a full days entertainment. We got stung for a bit extra for using the sun beds. It does state the charge on the bed but I’ll be honest I didn’t notice. June was good as it wasn’t too busy. We will go again probably, but off season. Thanks

Overall a nice museum for every kid who loves dinosaurs. I would have rated it higher if it weren't for two things: everything was only in French, so it definitely was NOT international visitors friendly. It would have been nice if the signs and explanations were in English too. And it had a little weird to me opening hours - works only from 14:00 to 17:00.
Actually we liked the exposition for the evolution of humans better (part of this museum too). Really well presented and explained, made our visit worth it even if only for this part. Only, well, again... I wish they made the effort to make it a little bit more accessible for the international visitors like us.

Good life size dino's in a forest park. With a lot of information, but mostly in french. Our son of 4 had a fantastic time. Do bring your own food as there is no restaurant.

Brilliant little place to visit. Tickets a little on the ££ side but great to see if you have ones who love Dinosaurs. The only problem the heat under the canopy of the trees meant there was a few too many bugs around and we all got bit a lot.

Romanesque-style Benedictine abbey established in 804 CE, part of a UNESCO-listed pilgrim route.
A beautiful town to see. You just have to expect how many people there will be during the season!

A very simple yet charming and peaceful place. The cloisters were a joy to walk through to get out of the heat and crowds and be in a quiet yet awe-inspiring space. A wonderful spot to stop for a breather!

A very cool abbey. I'm not kidding you. It's freezing on the inside of it for some strange reason. Out of all of the churches that I visited so far on this trip, this one definitely has a creepy vibe in parts of it. That's not necessarily a negative though. It has a living history you can feel. It's absolutely stunning to photograph. I highly recommend it to people who enjoy photography.

Wonderful, peaceful and contemplative. A must stop if you are in the region. The village surrounding the abbey is beautiful and worth a visit. Picturesque is the best word to describe the village. The cloister is very pleasant. Plan on a least an hour for a visit. See the museum and the library. The crypt is a little austere, so you might consider skipping it.

I love this place. Walking around the town makes you relive history. The medieval architecture is stunning. An important stop on the Camino de Santiago. The scallop shells lead the way. A must stop if you are in the Languedoc area.
French Mex — Google review
This small picturesque village is an extremely important point of the Camino.
The narrow streets, the falls, the great restaurants anthe uphill wineyard will pay off for any drive or walk it may take.
Spend some time on the main square. Buy goat cheese. Walk. Breath.
The atmosphere here is so calming, so relaxing.
i will return one day while I will do the Camino...

Even with the drought still an excellent canoeing experience. Did the 9km track but if you’re up to it I would recommend doing the 13km trip. Nice amount of rapids to be had with lots of spots to sit along side the river and have a swim. Staff of Le Moulin is excellent, finish point has a nice restaurant to enjoy an ice cream or cold soda pop. There is also a photo you can buy of you going down the river rapids which is quite fun.
Would highly recommend if your in the area and the weather permits it.

Excellent! Beautiful and organized. We've been multiple times. Last time by bus from Montpellier and everyone was very helpful. They left us on the way back at the bus stop.

Great staff, good kayaking even though the water was a bit low. You have choice between 6km or 13km under 4hrs
Hugues — Google review
Beautiful scenery and route! You can see the fishes swimming and enjoy the amazing nature around you. So for that it’s great. There were some points though that detract from a perfect score. We had a day of overcast, so in the morning we called and our camping group was told that the weather would be fine and the rain would be gone soon etcetera etcetera. However, it rained all day (quite heavily as well.) I know they cannot control the weather of course, but If they just were honest we would’ve come another day and the operation would still earn its money. We did the 13KM route which for me and my wife was way too intense so we fell over twice, lost our slippers, and left with many bruises and a wet suit. 3/10 would not recommend. It’s fine if you are sporty or good at kayaking, but we are not, so I advice anyone else to inform themselves beforehand and for the operation to ask people if they are sure about taking the long route. We would’ve had a way more pleasant day if we just did the shorter 9K route. Apart from that, nice people that operated the day we were there, decent pricing and good atmosphere at the finish.

Top place. Friendly and smily professionals. Pleasure to deal with.
The 13 km ride is fun all away down to the last meter. Better to have done few weeks of canoe beforehand or to be willing to wet your shirt quickly...
Safety is top priority there to make this experience a truly good time.
Nice canoes and good quality hardware provided.
Will do again.

Highly recommended for all. You can enjoy the beauty of South of France with this Kayaking experience. Superb location to start the kayaking. Very friendly and helpful staffs. Highly skilled instructors. All the kayaks are in very good condition. From starting point to end point you can enjoy the nature with happy open heart. Lot of foreigners are doing kayaking here. The river is suitable for adults and children too. You can enjoy alone, with friends and family too. Don't take any valuables with you. No jewels or rings. You may loose it in water. My friend lost her diamond ring when we were doing kayaking. Little sad but we can't do anything. One towel, lot of water to drink, juice, sandwiches, one t shirt, shorts or pants, underwears to change in the end of kayaking. End point small restaurant is there. Highly recommended. Five star rating 😂😁😀

Pl. de la Comédie is a public square located in the heart of Montpellier, France. This spacious area is surrounded by many notable buildings and landmarks, such as the opera house, the fountain of the Three Graces, and numerous cafes and restaurants. It serves as a popular gathering place for tourists and locals alike to relax or take part in various events throughout the year.
The Montpellier Zoological Park in France is a massive zoo with more than 1100 animals and 128 species. It's completely free, which is awesome, and it has an amazing Amazonian greenhouse. The park could use some more funding, but all in all its a great place to visit.
This place is a hidden gem..right in the middle of a bustling city this amazing zoo hosts a variety of different animals. Ideal for younger children and well signposted. It’s free to visit which makes it even more special. Definitely will try to make it here again!

A huge territory with free entrance, arranged picnic areas, interesting information about the species next to the aviaries. A bus stop just in front of the zoo. But the most of the territory is closed ( 05.08.2022), so there's no much to see. Coming to the zoo to see about 10 species was disappointing.
Iryna Konovalova — Google review
We last visited in 2018, and it's so sad to see the collection much reduced due to financial constraints. It's a wonderful zoo to visit, free, plenty of nice walkways in woodland settings. Coming from a zoo industry background it's a shame to see it in its current state and can only imagine it will get smaller over time.
We probably won't visit again due to the limited collection held now. I feel for the keepers who have seen their animals sent to other zoos. Go of you're in Montpelier, as it's still a nice walk around, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
Phill Greenwell — Google review
Amazing zoo with lots of the big animals, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras. It's also good that only one side of each enclosure has a viewing area leaving a quieter area for the animals. It's also totally free!
The Train à Vapeur des Cévennes offers a delightful experience for travelers in Anduze. Visitors can explore the charming churches and authentic architecture of the town before embarking on a scenic ride aboard the steam locomotive through the picturesque valley of the Gardon River towards St. Jean du Gard. The journey includes breathtaking views of river banks and tunnels, with an option to visit Europe's largest bamboo park, Bambouseraie.

Out best place to experience the ride with steam train 🚂 engine, we took several time this ride, usually return tickets. The drive in this region by the side of the river banks, it is priceless. But in Anduze this is just 16 € per person per ride for return ticket. We usually take the last wagon so we can enjoy seeing the train in the turn in her full beauty. The train station has a free parking and nice staff who also speaks English. The train station is clean and with a lot of souvenirs.

Fantastic steam train and end of day diesel also a classic. Word of caution, some of the carriages are open which is very good except when the train leaves Anduze station there is a 900 Mtr tunnel and the engine is pulling hard, lots of soot.
One very nice touch In vulnerable dry periods the steam loco spays water over bank side flora that is at risk of ignition. If in the area ride it well worth the return fare.

Seaquarium is a state-of-the-art marine life center that boasts 200 species of sea creatures including sharks, rays and seals bred on site as part of their protection program. The aquarium offers visitors an opportunity to witness and interact with a variety of sea animals such as baby sharks which can be touched. It has well-maintained tanks, toys, and awareness programs for visitors to learn about the different species. One of the highlights is the interesting story about monk seals.
We had an amazing time, and despite visiting on Easter Sunday, it did not feel crowded. There is lots to see, an almost endless variety of creatures, and loads of information in both French and English. We were lucky enough to catch the seal show, which is at random times to ensure that they do not fall into a routine and get bored. The tunnel, the big tank, all amazing. Buggies and wheelchairs were all well catered for with ramps and lifts. There was even an egg hunt as it was Easter day!

Lovley aquarium with loads of exhibitions, and nice to have it catered for with English signage also. Reasonably priced. Seal viewing area lovley inparticular to just watch them. Had no idea times they were fed though :(
Highlight of the holiday was getting to stroke the sharks!
But it was super crowded initally, especially, sure people spread out as you explore (eventually), but initially it was over whelming the amount of people and prams and bags squeezed into small spaces... Was ready to leave and im not especially claustrophobic either.

It's a nice place to spend time with kids or anyone who's interested in underwater life. For 16€ for an adult, you can see sharks, rays, huge turtles, different fish, other sea creatures and seals. The place is full of information about sea life, endangered species, water pollution puzzles for curious minds. The day I visited the seaquarium, there was a quest for children : they got a task at the entrance and had to look for clues around the aquarium. So their time there wasn't just wondering around and watching fish. There's a parking next to it and a few places to eat. The photos I post can't show the real beauty of the place, so go and check it yourself 🤗

Great Aquarium for a 2-hour visit! Plenty of activities for kids, clean and tidy aquariums. The fish look healthy and well taken care of. The entrance fees are reasonable for what you can see and do. There are some booths for pictures, an area where you can touch mini-sharks (highly recommended, really cool experience also for kids as they cannot bite). Overall a nice experience and time well spent! Really educative especially with regards to sensibilisation to waste in the oceans.

The aquariums were very beautiful. Especially the sharktunnel was our favourite place. We went there at about 13h and it was not too busy. But after an hour it became very busy and afterwards there was a long line to enter. Very happy we were out, because while it became busier it felt very crammed. We went with our littles ones (4y old and 1y old) and it was just right for them. Although, I find the price a tiny bit too expensive for how old the place looks. I hope they can renovate it bit by bit too make the place better.

We have visited Bambouseraie twice, once in the spring and in the summer. I love the way this park opens up with new flora in the different seasons. You can spend your whole day here, hiding from the hot sun of the Cevennen or enjoy it during a rainy day, watching all the droplets in the lakes and on the colourful flowers. Definitely a must visit if you are in this region!
Salin d’Aigues-Mortes is a renowned producer of high-quality sea salt in France. The company is situated in the heart of Camargue, where it uses traditional methods to harvest and process its salt. Their products are well-known for their unique flavor and texture, which come from the natural minerals present in the sea water used during production.
All the guided tours were booked, so I went for an unguided tour by foot, and did not regret it. The place is stunning, exactly as in the pictures, there were some flamingos and it was also possible to climb over a salt hill to admire the landscape. Exploring the saline at your own peace is perfect if you want to fully immerso in the atosphere and are a photography lover.
Bring a hat, some sunscreen, comfortable shoes and some water and you will be good to go for a magical walk.
Only cons are that the saline is located outside the city (you will need to walk 25/30 minutes to get there), and the explanation in the trail are in French language only.

Expensive, especially the walk part which is only like 2 euros less than the train. Otherwise it's a lovely outing.
Must book the train in advance ! Even though on their website they say you can buy tickets directly there, lots of people get there and can't buy any because all trips are full ! The kids were very disappointed about that.

Very disappointed. Could not book tickets online during the holiday period. No explanation why. After a 2 and a half hour drive with our American guests, we arrive at 12:30 to buy tickets for the 3:15 train tour. The ticket office was closed for lunch, which of course was not mentioned on the website. We left to visit Aigues Mortes. On the website it says to be there 15 minutes before the tour so we arrived well before 3 to buy tickets. On arrival, tickets sold out. The response was that we could buy tickets for tomorrow. This was not possible as it was a 5-hour return trip. When I stated that we had been there early to buy tickets, the woman said that the opening times were posted on the door, which is of course a big help when you are already there. Extremely disappointed and embarrassed as I am someone who plans well in advance. Not a great experience for our guests. The information signs are also riddled with spelling errors which is an embarrassment for the establishment. Please do better.

Here two pieces of advice for anybody trying to visit:
1) Buy your tickets online!!!
If you are already there, do not make the line, check first if they have any tickets left for the day. If not, leave the place and book on-line.
Otherwise you will make a long line to buy tickets... only available for next couple of days (which they will tell you only by the time it is finally your turn).
2) If you're already on-site and planning to buy for coming days, check weather forecast, as you can be sure they will CANCEL everything at the minimum threat of rain/including few drops.
Hence, closed everywhere except by the souvenir store of course...
Hope this will help you to save time and money.

Nice place to discover. However if you don’t speak any French don’t visit. Everything is in French (incl tour) and small museum during the tour. So besides the the nice views during the train ride, we did not understand anything. Please add at least English options :)

NO TICKETS REFUND
We bought tickets online, thinking that we had to book in advance during off-peak periods. We were unable to travel due to illness and had no way to change, exchange or cancel our tickets either online or by phone, even though this is not listed on the website.
When I finally managed to contact someone by email I was told that any ticket purchased on the internet cannot be refunded.
You have to go to the ticket office in France, which is very practical for a tourist site during Covid period! We lost 30Eur, really i can’t recommend this site to anyone traveling

They do not have tours in English or any other language. Only French! I guess us non French speakers are not welcome. It does not state on the website that the tour is only in French. However a star given for the nice scenery and the little information leaflet I was given in English. Bring mosquito repellent too as there were a few tiger mosquitos about and a bottle of water - it's quite pricey in the shop.

5 star for the instagram worthy photos. 1 star for the terrible and arrogant customer service. During peak season, you can not drive your car you will have to take their train, it cost 13 euros as of June 2023. Train tickets get sold out in advance, highly recommend booking train ticket online in advance. Train will take around 1 hour with several stops, however most of the stops are ok for photos but not great. The train tour is given in French only, they do not speak English at all. In fact all the cashiers and staff don’t speak English or pretend don’t speak any English at all.
If you miss your train or early, you can not get on early or get on late, you miss it you lose it.
The train ticket does not include walk in.. where you have to purchase that for additional 9 euros per person.
To get the best photo, better to walk in and explore on your feet. The spot where you can see the castle provides the best location for photo.
However I don’t recommend taking the train .
Walk in is available at the automatic gate , the ticket is good for one entrance and one exit. You will also get one yellow vest as well.
You can try to get on the train and get off /explore on foot. Walk back to the gate and wait for the next train to leave and exit with the crowd.
The lake will shine pink when it’s sunny only, so do not come on rainy or cloudy days. Come either during morning or afternoon.
If you travel by foot, bring sunscreen, water and maybe a hat. There is no shade at all

The trip on the little train was brilliant. Now I’ve read reviews by English people saying it was bad because there was no translation but I say embrace the opportunity to just listen to some French and appreciate the views which are spectacular! The driver of the train tells you stuff and is clearly passionate about salt! You stop to look around a little museum and another stop to climb a mound of salt for spectacular views! If anything it is worth it just for this. Saw flamingos and hummingbird moths and dragonflies flew alongside and through the train. If you have a big proper job camera, probably don’t even think about using this as you are rattling all over the place. Use your phone and save your big camera for the top of the salt mound.

Loved it because if the wonderful natural phenomenon of red water. Very very beautiful sight. We went in by foot (without a guide) and payed approximately 8€ each. A few tips:
Come in late afternoon for the most redness, but before 16.30 (because they stop letting people in here)
Bring sun lotion, something to drink and good walking shoes. There is zero shade and zero spots to sit down in there. If you want to go a full circuit it'll take a long time. We walked inwards for like 30 minutes and back out again the way we came.

Not bad, but maybe is better the tour with bike if you enjoy taking pictures. Train is a bit the same after 30 min despite the tour takes to a salt mountain and the guide explains the salt production.

We did the train ride tour. Beautiful views, very friendly driver and very interesting. I only wish that the information on the train was also in English. If you are going there and have a bike you’re in luck since you can bike wherever you want and stop for pictures wherever you want.
The Ornithological Park Pont de Gau, located north of the city of Marseille, is a premier spot for birdwatchers. The reserve has trails for walking and biking, as well as viewing platforms with excellent views of the wetlands and marshes where pink flamingos and herons live. Other migratory and seasonal birds can also be spotted here. There is a care center for sick or injured birds as well.
A beautiful morning spent marveling at countless flamingoes and other bird life in the natural marshland habitats. Do come with zoom camera or binoculars! Also remember to get your ticket stamped so that you can do re-entry if wanting to come again after lunch. Overall a must do if you’re in the area

Really nice park where you can observe lots of animals, mostly birds like flamingos, for only 7.50 euros per person and 5 euros for children! You can also rent some binoculars for 5 euros which I recommend because you will be able to observe a lot more animals like the beavers and the nutrias who are a bit shy.
By visiting this park you will walk quite a lot: there are two parts one of 3 km and the other about 4.5 km but it's a really nice walk in between all the animals!
Unfortunately the information boards that explain the different animals are only in french.

That’s a great place which is interesting both for adults and kids as well as professionals photographers and ornithologists. You can see lots of various birds and animals there. Also there is additional information about their life and behaviour explaining some aspects and factors about these amazing creatures.

Fantastic place, absolutely worth to visit! You can observe in nature many kinds of birds (sleeping pink flamingos were the best!) and water animals like beavers. Having a good quality full frame digital camera with telephoto lens might be a huge benefit. We spent there around 3 hours but you can see the most spectacar views within the first hour so it's worth to visit even if you have more limited time.

So well done. Far more than just flamingos and oversized rodents - the walking routes and viewpoints are quite magical on a sunny afternoon. You can leave when you want, so do stay for the sunset if you wish, but make sure you have a good pair of binoculars.

We came upon this hidden gem while driving from Montpellier to Arles. Totally unexpected, what a lovely surprise it was. The amount of flamingos were astounding. The park was nicely maintained in a natural setting. Wonderful experience.

Lots of flamingos, great views, you can rent binoculars for 5 or 9 euros (2 different tiers) for some up close bird viewing

Just WOW!
A beautiful reserve with excellent walks, guides and seating giving you every chance to watch flamingos, gulls, egrets and herons amongst the wetlands and islands, as well as the occasional coypu.
Immaculately kept, with no rubbish.
We met staff watching nests who let us use their monoculars.
Only €7.50 for an adult.
You can take your own picnic, and a basic cafe serves drinks (cash only).
Although entrance closes at 6pm you can stay til "dusk" and still get out through turnstile.
Bike racks both inside and out.
Toilets basic but functional.
Well worth a visit 🙂👍🏻

I was sceptical at first. What is so amazing about watching a few birds? But I have to admit I really enjoyed it! Totally recommend the park! And the path through the park is very pretty!

26€ for a family of 4. spent about 2 hrs here and bought our own lunch. there was a restaurant in site to buy a simple lunch for very affordable prices. the flamingos were stunning in their natural habitat. lots of photo opportunities. lots of information boards in french and English. parking directly outside for free but during summer it gets full so park along the road.

This place is amazing and a heaven for bird enthusiasts and common men alike. The birds here are used to seeing people and aren't afraid of them.
If you are an avid birder then they have an extended path with bird hides to do some proper birding.
We went there in mid Feb, which isn't exactly the birding season of the region but we still saw plenty of birds, resident and winter migrators alike.
Some of the hides weren't properly maintained, like we had a bush growing in front of a hide which cast a shadow in all of my pics 🫤

We drove 45 minutes to get there and it was worth every minute incredible! Great for Bird Photography. I only took one photo with my iPhone at our picnic spot, apparently Google maps and reviews don’t like photos taken with the canon R5

One of my first natural parks, truly an emotion! I will not have seen all the species contained in this gigantic park but only being able to see how much fauna still lives in nature (obviously controlled) and thrives in this way. I had really never seen flamingos before and this visit really amazed me.There are routes suitable for families and for the more adventurous who want to discover the whole natural park, there are numerous truly appreciated lookout posts. I truly recommend it to anyone🤩🤩

Very nice bird park that is nicely set up to balance the good of the birds along with getting nice views. There are two walking areas with paths and we took the shorter one which was about a mile and a half. This is clearly the flamingo season and there were hundreds of them everywhere. It was beautiful. A very nice stop and handy to Arles.

Charming Park: Crowds of flamingos are just around the corner, cool educational content to learn more about these amazing birds. Flamingos undoubtedly attract the main attention, but there are a huge number of other birds in the park - storks, cranes, etc. Excellent walking routes, equipped places for recreation and picnics.

RD 570 Lieu dit Pont de Gau, 13460 Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France
The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer is a Romanesque pilgrimage site dating back several centuries. The church is known for its ancient well and beautiful terrace, which provides a panoramic view but can be slippery in places. Visitors should exercise caution when going up or down the port side roof. The church also hosts an interesting annual Gypsy procession on May 24th and 25th, featuring music, dance and a statue of Black Maria.
Beautiful little church that honors the memory of Saints Marie and also Sara, allows you to go up and see all of Saintes Marie de la mer, a really nice place. Inside then there are all the ex votos of past centuries that are remembered in the showcases. The story that encloses the well of baptism inside the church is interesting, which was the only source of fresh water for the whole city in the past.
J_Gogo — Google review
Small but a beautiful church - the terrasse is a must visit which might not be accessible for babies and senior people. The panoramic view on the terrasse is great but needs to be careful because the roof (the port side) is slippery when getting down.

Impressive, free entrance. The only place worth visiting in Saint-Maries-de-la-Mer, in my opinion.

Lovely church from outside. Inside nothing to see... Around the church there are a lot of restaurant... for tourist...

Really nice church! You can visit the top of the church and it is very cheap! You can get the tickets at the entry before you go up the stairs.(make sure not to go too late in the evening because it gets quite crowded, on the other hand you will be able to see a beautiful sun set so it's for you to decide.) Once arrived at the top you can enjoy a stunning view over the town! Make sure you bring your camera :). Once you finished the roof tour you can go back down and enjoy the inside of the church. The entry for the inside of the church is free and very nice too but make sure you don't go when they are having a ceremony.

The historical landmark Jardin de La Fontaine is a public park located in Nimes. It is a beautifully landscaped garden with Roman ruins and botanic gardens, as well as ponds and sculptures. The park offers stunning views of the city below.
This park in Nîmes is really beautiful, the trees give it a cool breeze. From the park you have a clear and lovely view of the town. It is so breath-taking just to visit the place. I would go back there countless times. I was with friends so, The more the Merrier...but you can do it solo.

A sublime park that climbs the hillside until it meets the tower Magne at the summit. The views, sculptures and Roman architecture around the source are all fantastic. Plenty of places to sit and relax with a picnic or sunbathe. Small children's parks are placed throughout with a miniature carousel by the main entrance. It's well maintained and naturally very green, with a mixture of more exotic plants and trees added for variety. The source is also surrounded by various fountains and water features keeping the air cool and fresh. A must visit for all ages!

The Amphitheatre of Nîmes retains much of the ancient Roman architecture and features regular concerts and events. It is a popular venue for gigs and events, with an auditorium that seats 24,000 people.
A very well preserved and presented Roman Gladiatorial arena. The supplied interactive audio guide is well made and intuitive to use. The staff are friendly and helpful. You can visit the arena almost in its entirety, with gladiator and matador costume rooms available beneath the podiums. An escape game is also available with hidden riddles and challenges to find and complete around the arena. Descriptive information panels are posted around the arena in multiple languages. If this wasn't your main reason for visiting Nîmes, it should at least be your second. 5/5 must visit.

An outstanding Roman arena undergoing a lot of restoration work. Entry was 10 euros though there are family tickets as well. There is an option to have audio commentary once you are inside. Toilets are on site. There is a bar but only open for events. The exit is through the gift shop which doesn't appear to be too expensive.

There was a queue to buy tickets but it moved fast. We spent almost hours walking around while listening to the interesting narration of the audi guide; about the history of the amphitheatre and it's purpose. The visit was totally worth it.

Stunning on the outside, but the inside is not worth a visit if you’ve been to Verona or Rome. It’s mainly scaffolding with tribunes for shows. So nothing majorly nice to look at and not photogenic either. You can save yourself the 10 Euro entry fee per adult.
If you go though, make sure to get the combo ticket that also only costs 10 Euros and allows also entry to the Tour Magne.

The Amphitheatre of Nîmes is a sight to behold. Standing at an impressive 21 metres tall, the intact colleseum immerses you into ancient Nîmes.
The restoration projects that have been ongoing for some 10 years have made a lot of significant and beautiful refurbishments that only enhance the Amphitheatre. While I appreciate the remaining half in the authentic, as it was, way.
The "City of the Gods" show was spectacular and a pleasure for all, too.
Make sure you book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

No other words than amazing. It's said to be the best preserved Roman amphitheater and after visiting a few I have to agree. If you are in the area I highly recommend visiting. On my visit the amphitheater was set for a concert and I'm still happy to have seen its beautiful. I visited on a saturday and it was not busy

Big and beautiful ancient arena, now turn into a concert hall.
Looking outside is much more interesting and grand. But inside pretty much full of tool, concert equipments.
The audio is interesting to explain about the place and you can visit only half of the arena, due to under construction.

Beautiful and amazon Arena, dated s. I D.C. so almost 2000 years and still splendurous and astonishing. Now under big renovation but still can visit this historical monument. Specially recommended to take photos during sunset time but also night time.

Nimes amphitheatre is another beautiful example of Roman architecture. It was built around 100 AD and is well-preserved today. It was once used for gladiator fights and still hosts various events such as bullfights, concerts and other events. While smaller than the Colosseum in Rome, I was still amazed by the size and design of the arena. I highly recommend going all the way to the top level to enjoy great views of Nimes and the amphitheatre itself.

Very cool Roman amphitheater with a comprehensive audio guide (several languages available) that is more interesting and entertaining than most. Just be sure to bring a photo ID. Very friendly employees here as well who speak English. We didn’t buy tickets in advance but it wasn’t too busy and there was virtually no wait.
Lots of concerts/festivals during the summer so unfortunately the middle of the arena was set up with a stage and sound booth etc. - a unique location if you’re attending a concert here but still worth a visit if you’re not.
Joycelin Wong — Google review
The Arena is in really good shape. However, a day before we visited it there was a concert inside, so we had a ”pleasure” to see all the construction related to it - that made a negative impact on our experience. Besides, there was a strong smell of urine on the ground floor.
Despite the above, a place with great history, well preserved, definitely worth seeing.
Maciej Żebrok — Google review
One of the most preserved roman amphitheatres / arenas I have ever seen. The tickets are also affordable and you get an audio guide with it by default. There is also a good souvenir shop at the exit of the arena. Definitely recommended place to visit.

The amphitheater is a beautiful and historic Roman arena that will inspire any intrepid traveller with an interest in Roman history.
There is an audioguide available for anyone interested in learning more about the history of the arena and is a worthwhile addition when looking around the amphitheater.
At the exit of the arena there is a shop where people can buy souvenirs.
There is a combination ticket available to buy that also includes access to the Maison Carrée and the Tour Magne, I’d recommend buying it if you’re interested in site seeing Nîmes.
I’d definitely recommend visiting the Amphitheater of Nîmes.
Simon Jones — Google review
It’s definitely worth buying the combo ticket to visit the Maison Carrée” and the museum, though we didn’t have time to visit the latter. The arena is very well preserved and a pleasure to visit. It’s still hosting many types of events. A must see in the region, definitely recommended.

The Nîmes Amphitheatre is an incredible testament to Roman engineering and architecture. This well-preserved arena is not only an important historical site but also a venue for concerts and events today. Walking through its corridors and seating areas transports you back in time, evoking the grandeur of ancient gladiatorial contests. The scale and preservation of this amphitheater are truly awe-inspiring, making it a must-visit attraction in Nîmes. Venturing into the Aven d'Orgnac cave is a captivating experience that I highly recommend. Nestled within the earth, this natural wonder is not only a visual feast but also a testament to the beauty of our planet's history.
The cave, while awe-inspiring, does carry the chill of the deep underground, so remember to bring a warm jacket and gloves to stay comfortable.
The light show within the cave is nothing short of magical, illuminating the ancient formations in a dance of shadows and light that is sure to leave you enchanted. It's important to note that the cave can only be explored through a guided tour. However, due to its popularity, tours can get fully booked, so you might have to wait for the next available session.

Great visit! You go down a stairway in a tunnel, to arrive at the cave. Beautiful structure, very well organized and preserved. The tour lasts about 1h, hour and 15. At the end you are taken back up in an elevator. The museum is also very good.

Spectacular caves with an easy walking tour and lift back up to the top. We went with 3 kids aged 3-9 who aren't really into caves and geography etc but enjoyed it enough for it to have been worth it. Lots of reviews say how cold it is - I'd recommend jumpers for kids but i was fine in tshirt and shorts. There's a nice gift shop - a cooperative with local products but we found the attached museum a bit dry. Overall a memorable family trip but better for a couple of hours trip rather than a whole day.

I do recommend at least half a day to go and visit the area as it's a bit off the beaten trails.
Fun for all the family the cave is a nice 12°C / 53.6 °F all year around so do bring something warm. With 90 to 100 % humidity inside the floor is wet so do mind that also.
If you want a tour in english, I think it would be best to let them know in advance especially if you have a large group as not all the staff can speak english there.
Do book your tickets online as it's more convenient.

2240 Route de, L'Aven, 07150 Orgnac-l'Aven, France
This museum showcases a collection of artifacts from the Roman era to the 6th century, with a focus on the area's ancient architecture. The museum is designed by architect Henri Ciriani in a stark modern style, contrasting sharply with its contents. Among the many artifacts on display are sarcophagi from both Roman and later Christian eras.
A modern museum with lots to see. Very helpful and friendly staff, no problem with just English. The barge is especially worth to look a bit closer on. The only let down was that many signs of the exhibits are in French only... Google lens works well but is a bit tiring in the long run.

Fascinating display highlighting the history of Arles from the Late Neolithic through the decline of the Romans. So many New discoveries just in this century like the 30 m barge uncovered after a flood in the Rhône in 2002. Most descriptions are not in English so I would suggest getting the auto guide which was excellent. Loved the open and spacious building layout conducive to letting your eye lead you to the next interesting exhibit. I did not find the large area of sarcophagus at the end very interesting but the tiles were. Great bargain with the Arles monument and museum pass, Take “A” bus for 1 euro from George Clemenceau Boulevard.

Many amazing objects displayed, sadly only 10% with English text explained, the rest French.
We took the English audio guide, which was a disaster. An old woman with a shaky British accent, talking very old fashioned...it was painful to hear. Her text was also so unexciting. There are only 19 tracks, but like +1000 objects are displayed in the museum. Better not to use it at all and just look around.
The boat is the masterpiece of the museum, for that 4 stars

Amazing museum where the galo Roman history seems in motion again. You will discover what was life behind the legacy of the magnificent monuments of this important Roman city and country side. Facing the facts that life was not so different from ours and how sofisticted and organized the roman world was (fluvial transportation and outstanding restauration to highlight as you will see). Because somewhere, we are all the barbarian heirs of that glorious civilization which has been able for centuries to integrate the best of all their comptempory world (Greek, Egyptian, Celtics, Persian, Iberian, African etc.) and unify all those people for the glory of what Rome was simbolizing to all. A real achievement that no other nation or empire has been able to realize since...

One of the best ancient museums in the south of France. The place is rich at unique historical exhibits including a huge original boat which was found on the bottom of the lake nearby. Located just outside the old city of Arles...about a 15 minute walk from the edge of the city or a 4 minute drive...this is a spacious and modern museum focusing on the Roman history of Arles. While the show case is the old freight barge recently unearthed and proudly displayed I found the models representing the important structures within Arles to be more fascinating as it gave a sense of scale and perspective.
The museum does not take a lot of time to walk through, about 30-45 minutes and if you are into Roman history than it is certainly a worthwhile visit.
PARKING: There is small lot on site (about 40 spots) + an additional lot up the street (less than 5 minute walk) for another 65 spots. If during peak season and you had already found a parking spot in the city, I would think it would be better to walk from the city than to attempt finding a parking spot.

An interesting museum going into the background of the Romans. Probably one to two hours of wandering. Some amazing mosaics from floors of villas along with a wooden boat that was actually pulled up from the bottom of the Rhône. A bit tuned towards French but enough English for us to understand. The Pont du Gard is a remarkable aqueduct bridge that was constructed by the Romans in the 1st century AD. It spans over three well-preserved arched tiers and stands as one of the most well-preserved ancient infrastructures found in Europe. The structure boasts an impressive level of symmetry, with rhythmic repetition of arches that exude strength and nobility. Its status as a World Heritage Site attests to its historical significance and architectural beauty.

The Pont du Gard is an architectural masterpiece that truly captivates with its fascinating design. Its majestic arches, meticulously constructed by the ancient Romans, stand as a testament to their engineering prowess. The bridge's blend of form and function is simply awe-inspiring.
Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, the Pont du Gard offers stunning scenery that enhances the overall experience. The gentle flow of the river beneath the bridge adds to the tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax and soak in the surroundings.
One of the notable aspects of this site is its commitment to cleanliness and environmental preservation. The Pont du Gard is remarkably well-maintained, ensuring that visitors can appreciate its historical and natural charm without distraction.
The crystal-clear waters of the river that runs beneath the bridge are a sight to behold, and the opportunity to swim or simply dip your toes in this pristine river is a refreshing bonus.
I left the Pont du Gard with a deep sense of wonder and a promise to myself that I would revisit this extraordinary place someday. Roman aqueduct, museum and Mediterranean gardens. This historic site is on the UNESCO world heritage list and is a location where you could spend all day or just an hour to see the basics of the site. It is an affordable adventure for the entire family.

Another lovely Roman project still in good shape! We arrived quite late but still have fantastic time here. We have to deep in the tempting water as well . Warm and clean with rocky beaches and rocky bed (water shoes helped children). Sadly we leaving soon and can't come back for more this year! I don't think the all day parking charge is expensive at all €9!
You can't please everyone! Coffee /ice-cream and snacks on site also clean toilets! Highly recommended!

Just amazing. Unbelievable architecture for it's time. Really impressive seeing it up close. €9 for parking but then free to visit the site. Worth seeing from above viewpoints, down on the riverbed, and take the walk across to the other side. Take your swimmers for a cool off dip after!

Unfortunately we visited on a rainy day, but the bridge still looks beautiful. If you’re there on a sunny day, take your time and walk the route provided around the bridge. For best pictures, walk a bit farther to get an overview of the bridge.
You can find more information about the bridge at the museum which only costs €6.50.
It can be a bit crowded (we were there on a weekday and there were plenty of people) and you will need to pay €9 for parking.

Very beautiful even after all these years. You can either enjoy the view or go swimming. We paid 9€ for parking, there's a "touist area" with shops and so on, I guess that's necessary, but it didn't really deduct anything from the overall experience.

Wow, amazing, one of the coolest things we saw in Europe. We did not do the guided tour which you need to do if you want to walk the top. We would do that next time, but just hiking near Pont du Gard is awesome.

You think an aqueduct is nothing special? Think again! This is the tallest Roman bridge-aqueduct in the world, standing at 48m high, which dates back over 2000 years.
The whole area is well-maintained and almost like a huge park. It is perfect for a Picknick, a meal on the terrace of the restaurant with a view of the aqueduct a mountain bike tour, a hike or just to chill near the river and have a swim in summer.

It's the most visited site in France and it's a UNESCO World Heritage site, that says something about it.
The parking is charged at 9€ per vehicle and there are no other charges for visiting the site but the museum visit is at additional cost.
The place is quite beautiful and has small hiking paths all around it, you can get some pretty good views of the aqueduct if you venture a little into the woods.

This is one of the coolest things to see. How Roman made things still are around still stuns me and many, not something often seen in the United States. Easy to walk and if you go further down, can get great photos as well as dip you toes in the water on a hot day.

A huge monument that blends into the landscape ... pure poetry. Since Roman times this aqueduct has remained standing and demonstrates its solidity and quality, but the most beautiful thing is how man managed to enhance it and merge it with his interests. The Rhône River is used as a seaside resort where everyone gathers to have fun and enjoy a day of relaxation. I really liked it and it is definitely worth its fame, so why not pay us a visit? 🤩

What an experience! The bridge is such a jaw-dropping piece of architecture, and there is so much to see and do here. You can go swimming and hiking, you can chill and eat with a view, you can buy souvenirs, and you can visit the museum and exhibitions.
Entrance is free of charge (the museum and exhibition cost extra), and parking is 9€ for 24 hours (you could even stay overnight with a caravan or mobile home, if you don’t need any amenities or electricity).
In my opinion a perfect and affordable place for a day out. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Great historic site. Well kept. If you want to enjoy the area and get the most out of it and the walking tracks around, make sure you give yourself plenty of time and get there early. Parking is €9 per vehicle.

The Pont du Gard is truly a marvel to behold, with its gigantic aqueduct showcasing incredible Roman architecture. Seeing it in person is even more awe-inspiring. The sheer scale of the structure is amazing! In addition to its architectural significance, there's also a swimming area nearby, adding to the appeal. However, it's important to note that the area can get scorching hot, so be prepared for the heat when visiting. Overall, experiencing the Pont du Gard is an unforgettable journey back in time and a testament to the ingenuity of ancient engineering.

This aqueduct is gigantic even more so in person. What a great Roman architecture, just amazing! There’s also a swimming area here. It gets scorching hot here so make sure you come down here May or June.

This bridge is legendary, the place is very special. At any time of the day you can feel a fascination and all tourists behave with equal respect and consideration. This is particularly noticeable in the garbage that ends up in the trash can here and not in nature.
Most people approach from the left side because that's where the parking lot is. The bridge takes you to the right side of the river and there is also a nice swimming opportunity there.
What makes the place so fascinating? On the one hand, the history, an enormous construction achievement. On the other hand, the play of colors at all times of the day. All the people start building a small dam out of the stones. Whether 5 years old or over 70 years old.
15 years ago you could still cross the bridge at the very top of the watercourse. This is now blocked. Nevertheless, the climb is worth it because the view of the bridge is unique. Likewise the tunnel above, which also had to be built for the aqueduct.

A must!
Pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of the bridge and its surroundings. Make sure to have some time to sit at the cafe once you cross the bridge to enjoy the view. Went in November with not many tourists and the calm was much appreciated

The Pont du Gard is an impressive testament to ancient engineering, standing majestically over the river below. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's a marvel that connects us directly to the ingenuity of the Romans.
The scenery around the bridge is picturesque, offering panoramic views that are a treat for the eyes and a haven for photographers. The lush greenery and the gently flowing river create a tranquil ambiance that's perfect for a leisurely stroll or a picnic.
I visited on a weekend, and as expected, it was quite bustling with visitors. If you prefer a quieter experience, I'd recommend going before noon when the crowds are thinner.

What a cool place to visit. I only wish we had more time. My husband and I would have liked to have hiked the entire place. We did go up to the bridge and did the steps to the top. I would have liked to have gone on the other side!
The Arles Amphitheatre, which is still in use today for bullfighting and other community events, was originally built in the Roman era as a place to watch gladiator fights and wild animal shows. It's long, oval shape and large capacity makes it an interesting attraction for visitors to the area.
We were looking forward to visit this site since some time. We have watched several YouTube videos about this touristic attraction before we even knew will visit Arles. Overall the place did not disappoint us. The huge structure which dated since almost 2000 years made us appreciate the care of the local authorities to preserve and maintain this important site. We recommend taking the time and sit on one of the benches while imagining what went on the are a many hundreds of years ago. The views from one of the towers is great too.

A truly wonderfully preserved example of an ancient Roman amphitheatre. You can walk around freely and really explore this amazing venue and imagine how the place must have been in the ancient times. Wonderfully preserved and in great condition. If you are lucky you can even visit when they have concerts and other events here.

The Arles Amphitheatre is a remarkably well-preserved Roman building, showcasing the architectural prowess of ancient Rome. Over the last 200 years, it has been meticulously conserved and partially rebuilt, offering visitors a glimpse into its historical significance. While there are many steps to navigate, especially for those wishing to visit the towers, a short climb grants access to the main seating area, where you can soak in the atmosphere of ancient spectacles. It's fascinating to note that the site is still in use for modern events, adding to its allure. An essential visit for fans of Rome and anyone interested in experiencing history come to life.

Very well preserved Roman building. It was conserved and partially rebuilt over last 200 years. There are a LOT of steps, if you want to visit the towers. But a short climb gets you to the main seating area. The site is still in use for modern events. Essential visit for fans of Rome.

This is an excellent example and pne of over 200 Roman amphitheaters throughout Europe. The entry price is very reasonable and on my friday visit there were very few people. Its a must see if you are in the area

90 A.D. is when the Romans built the structure that is still used today. We walked around in the rain and for the most part we stayed dry walking through the arches and hallways.

A reasonably well-preserved place with a hint of modernity. Historical object that is used today with little modification. A beautiful place with a soul, you can feel the history here.

Colosseum's always fascinate me so I enjoyed walking through. Fortunately I didn't have to pay because it was French historical day so that was excellent. If it costs more than €10 and your limited on funds, maybe reconsider because it's still great to see it from the outside as well. But definitely worth checking out if you can.

It’s always impressive to see this kind of architecture even from outside only. The old town surrounding the arena is cute. Tons of cool architecture in the narrow streets.

Visiting the Amphitheatre in Arles is like a trip back through time. While there are other similar relics (think the colosseum in Rome) I doubt any other is as well preserved, as accessible as uncrowded. The morning we were visited there were multiple tour groups (the river cruises docked that morning) but they were tiny given the capacity of the Amphitheatre. Our first visit to a Roman relic of this size and it was amazing - a real trip backwards in time. This alone was worth the trip to Arles. A must see!

Walking around it is enough to get a fine idea and feel for the place. The interior is not as impressive. There are plenty of other things to do and visit in Arles.
If your time is limited, just walk around and keep enjoying the town. There are some great restaurants across the arena to enjoy the view.

Super interesting. They have a map/illustration of how the amphitheatre became a walled city during middle ages. People moved in, built homes, a plaza, a church! The entry points became city doors. Must visit.
There is an amazing little restaurant right outside (sorry, can't remember the name!) but the food was magnificent.
Here is my monkey "Lenin" enjoying the sun!

Not much to see from outside but… a drone makes a difference.
So, our Mini 2 was allowed to fly and here you can see the effect. In theory one can see the spectacle from air, though am not sure how well it is enlightened.
I strongly recommend to come and to see it. And to have „Taureau Camarguais” - regional beef dish with local rice. Delicious and must have.

Ancient Roman ruins almost intact. Gladiators fought for freedom.
Easy to find from the town square with plenty of cafes, small restaurants and some retail outlets.
Toilets 🚻 are found in the square.

The arena at Nîmes is wonderful but the arena at Arles simply knocks it out of the park. What is left after the Arlésiens mined it for stones to build other things is incredibly well preserved. You can climb right up to the top seats and get a wonderful view of the town.

Small entrance out the front, so queue can be long. It’s a massive amphitheater which was cool however not much to see, just going up and around. So you won’t need a lot of time here.
Would be a bit challenging for children and older people with the steps and lack of safety.

The amphitheater in Arles is amazing, as is the city itself. We enjoyed every minute here. Everything in the city has Roman history which I really liked. Any recommendation for visiting Arles, its sights, as well as small wonderful cafes. definitely pay attention to the fact that Van Gogh also lived and worked in this city, so you will be able to find a lot of postcards and other souvenirs with his works, and you can also visit the cafe that Vincent painted.
Genial. Must see and swim in this natural bathtub!

Nice little waterfalls… you can cool down in the rivier a little but the rocks are slippery. There is a parking spot, payment method is confusing as it says no cash only CB but it accepts only visa or master card (no maestro debit).. we ended up paying with coins (?!) which seemed to be still accepted

We've passed yesterday through La Roque sur Ceze and the landscape is beautiful: waterfalls, vineyards.... We didn't have enough time to visit the city, but we'll be coming back soon. Just didn't find a lot of options to eat on the way. And be careful with the narrow bridge to cross when entering the town.
