We thoroughly enjoyed this park. Very inexpensive 3.20 euros, gorgeous views, a visitor center, the flowers were simply splendid & seeing the crabs dive into their holes was funny & fascinating. Would love to go back some day.

We went on a rainy day and were very surprised how interesting it was. The trail takes you through nice countryside and to some interesting traditional things like mills and pumps. There is lots of good information all in Portuguese and English. The place is clean and well looked after. If you are interested in bird watching it is fantastic. The man on reception was very helpful and friendly
Pat and Alan Baxter — Google review
It's a nice natural area with lot of bird life. You can follow trail or dirt roads all around the airport from Faro city to Faro beach. Be care not to go too late as the is little or no light after sunset.
Anette Larsen — Google review
Absolutely beautiful area. We did a safari segway tour which was so much fun. Saw some amazing birds and learnt about the flora and fauna. Well worth a visit.

Nice place to wander around in nature. Not so well-marked so it's easy to get lost.

Beautiful views, lovely walk, lots of wildlife and the smell of pine trees 🌲 🌳 😀 ❤️
Emily Cook — Google review
It was spectacular we saw amazing wildlife such as: Flamingos, Chameleons, Spoonbills and Egrets! I recommend taking a picnic and binoculars on a hot day because you might want to sit and watch the nature go by while eating lunch. Definitely recommend! One issue is that it’s very close to Faro Airport which means your constantly disrupted by planes flying in (this is in season where the planes will be flying in and out if out of season you’ll probably have a better chance to see wildlife!

Very easy flat hike. Good area to do some birding if it's not too crowded, recommend going on weekdays
Eric S — Google review
It was a lovely walk with a defined path. The water mill was lovely as was the egrets nesting island tucked behind the Roman pools.I think the amount of birds and wildlife you see depends upon season and time of day
Eve Harris — Google review
Beautiful area for bird watching. Each season has its own variety of birds to be spotted. Go along with a solar boat, the guide knows what birds can be expected to see.
Fred Modderman — Google review
A beautiful park that's home to a huge variety of wildlife and has some of the best sunsets I've ever seen.
Depending on the time of year the tide will usually be in during the morning, then out until the evening, so be careful not to get caught out walking in the marshes. Otherwise there are plenty of permanent paths so that you can walk around the little salt lakes and admire the wildlife.
Look out for flamingos and other types of birds if you visit!
Tiff W — Google review
Good place to enjoy nature and watch birds. A good 4x4 is definitely needed to enjoy most little corners. No facilities around so be aware of that.

The Ria Formosa lagoon is one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal.
The Ria Formosa nature park is a Ramsar wetland site.
Dirt trails and an excellent broadwalk.
Educational signs along the walk.
Access to the beach.
Worth a visit

Very nicely preserved place. Fresh air, lots of things to see, from plants to birds.
Would be nice to enforce people respecting the rules of not walking on the dunes and not throwing trash.
Very nice welcome also from the reception
Culatra Island is a 6km-long inhabited island that can be accessed by ferry. It boasts a lighthouse, beaches, and a lagoon. One option to explore the island is through a guided tour of the national park that includes stops at both Ilha Deserta and Ilha da Culatra sandbar-islands for 25. For those on a budget, there's an option to visit only Ilha Deserta for just 10.
Great experience. Traditional fisherman industry island with typical villages, casas and restaurants from snacks to top Portuguese couisine. Prices for all pockets. 2 broadwalks. One to the main Atlantic beach where at the end you will find a beach bar or cross the lagoon when the tide is out and walk on the north side to the island's tip where a small deep chanel seperates Culatra from Ilha Armona. An Ultra natural and protected area. Some of the tour boats take day trippers there for idilac paddling and canoeing. (See Captain Steve Tours). Remember Keep to paths not dunes. On this side....There is a lonely tree near a small broadwalk. Planted by a tiny seed and tendered regularly by a German who settled on the island and built a house on the lagoon from waste and flotsam. Died 2022 .. his casa is still there but sadly vandalised and much of his loved art work that decorated his casa gone. From the Atlantic beach you can walk to the village Farol where the lighthouse is and catch the ferry back to Olhao.

Beautiful, authentic island with not very much tourism - and that in combination with the fishermen and their families living there is what makes it so unique and beautiful. Take a walk, enjoy really fresh fish, the long besutiful beaches and respect the families living there. Enjoy a calm small island.
blåckfisk _office — Google review
The beach here is off the track and worth the trek. Getting onto the island took an hour by ferry from Olhao. Once you make the seemingly unending 20 min walk, you step onto a beautiful beach. Clear, cold waters, lots of waves. Has one beach kiosk and could do with an extra toilet.
Michelle-Allyson Oworu — Google review
Beautiful white sand island only accessible by ferry from Olhão. The beaches on the Atlantic side are impressive but the water is cold and waves can get rough but where it's more sheltered its wonderful. Dont miss out on exploring the lagoons and interior of the island, it's fun with the kids. Then grab a beer in one of the bars while waiting for the ferry back to Olhão.
Nick Moore — Google review
Unique island with beautiful endless beaches. Small village with typical houses and a few nice eateries serving generally good and fresh seafood.
We recommend going on an easy stroll from Culatra to Farol, about half an hour along the beach. Just beautiful.
Clement Lefebure — Google review
Loved it here and walked miles along beautiful beaches. Very pretty village with everything you need shops bars food at very reasonable price's.
Nathan Russell — Google review
Quiet little fishing village . Lots of interesting things to photograph
Matthew Hughes — Google review
Very nice place to visit with an awesome beach on the coast towards south. To reach there you need catch the regular ferry (30min) and after that walk for about 15 min but it worths the effort to see the natural beauty of Algarve. On the first saturday of august there is the big event that is the island party day with a big night show with a lot of popular music. On August, every saturday there is a similar but smaller party.

The Catholic cathedral dating back to the 13th century is a beautiful sight in Faro. The Igreja de Se courtyard and surrounding orange trees are a lovely addition to an otherwise modern old town. At the heart of the city, the Se cathedral is a must-see for visitors to Faro. On top of the clock tower there are wonderful views of Faro and the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
Quite nice to visit. You have access to the cathedral, the upper level with a museum where you can see the cathedral from above, then a garden with a sun clock and 2 small chapels (including one with bones but not very well preserved) and the rooftop. The view from the rooftop are very nice, and you can see the bells.
Sarah Zup — Google review
Faro’s cathedral is a beautiful, tranquil place, a strange but enticing mixture of styles after being looted and damaged in an earthquake over the centuries. It costs €5 for the whole complex. The church is full of interesting features, from tiled chapels to opulent altarpieces, and it is certainly worth the short climb to the upper choir to see the organ up close. There is also a small museum upstairs, plus an external altarpiece made of bones. Climbing the tower gives unsurpassed views of the town and surrounding area, although beware as the first set of steps are steep and badly worn. Usefully, there are also toilet facilities on site.

Very nice cathedral with a beautiful coventry,... If you're visiting Faro it's a must-see.
You can also go at the top of the tower to have a beautiful view on Faro.

Lovely Cathederal dating back to 1498. The Cathederal was undergoing essential refurbishment works so we couldn't see the full spenders this Cathederal has to offer. Wonderful view of Faroe from the top of the tower and a big thumbs up to the guy in the ticket office, great sence of humour. 👍👍😃

Entrance with the view from the tower 3.50 euro. Nice and well maintained. Visit recommend

From outside, there is nothing special about this cathedral. The interior though is a different story. There is so much art and history to make the place a must see if you are in the area. After that, going up the tower is the icing on the cake. Great views all around that stretch from the old town to the ocean.
Tariq Lahyani — Google review
Absolutely stunning cathedral, filled with artistic sculptures and works of art. Your ticket also gets you access to the Tower (great views of Faro), a museum and their bone chapel.
Megan P — Google review
A great view of the unique landscape of the Ria Formosa Natural Park! Church and exhibition were also not bad, but for us rather secondary. 5€ each person is a bit too much.
Justin Babilon — Google review

For €5, it's a lovely little experience with an amazing view. Definitely not for anyone with poor mobility as there are a lot of steps, especially if you want to head up the tower
Kerrianne O'Mahoney — Google review
This Cathedral building was started in 1251, two years after the Christian Reconquest of Faro from the Muslim Moors. It has undergone several renovations and additions since, the last major changes made after the earthquakes in 1722 and 1755. A rather sad historical fact is that in 1596 the city of Faro and the Cathedral were sacked and burned by the English troops of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, on their way back from the capture of Cádiz.
The altars and the various chapels are marvelously decorated and carved, some with tiled walls with biblical illustrations. The entrance ticket (€2.00 for the over 65s) also gives access to the tower, from where there is great views of the town, the waterfront and the airport. As we stood there, a white stork flew past on its way to its nest on the roof of one of the nearby buildings.
Across the inner courtyard there is a small bone chapel with skulls (mostly broken) built into the walls.
T Hartberg — Google review
Entrance to the territory of the museum-cathedral costs 5 €. a very beautiful observation deck, there were practically no people.
but the spyglass doesn't work, the money just gets stuck!

it's quite old building historically and unique, beautiful from outside/inside. The Tickets is quite fair/cheap, and you can explore inside and outside of it (you can climb on the cathedral tower as well to be able to see the best view from up top. And to take Great/memorable pictures of it plus there is some nice and old cathedral bells. from up top of the tower you can see in almost 360 viewing huge amount of the "Faro City" and all around the cathedral. Definitely worth to explore and check it.

I've been to some cathedrals in my time and for some reason this one blew me away. It's not excessively large or grand or intricate but something about it had me in awe for my whole visit. Man on the desk was very nice and the view from the top was incredible.

I recommend it as a must if you are in the Algarve. You arrive by a small ferry in just over 5 minutes or by taxi-boat. The first leaves you in the busiest area and the taxi at the far end.
Fine white sand. You can find areas where you are practically alone and choose whether you bathe in the inland estuary or in the open sea. Be careful with the currents of the estuary because they are deceiving.
To catch the ferry you make a long queue when buying the ticket and they are also quite dry and unpleasant at the ticket office.
Better this island than the best known of Saint Lucia
The beach Praia da Rocha Baixinha is a long golden sand beach located in the east of Falesia Beach, close to Vilamoura. The beach has many swimming spots and a lifeguard service. It's well known for its nickname Praia dos Tomates because of the tomato plants growing by one of the entrances.

Really beautiful clean beach. Miles and miles of beautiful sand. Plenty of cafes along the beach when you need a break. Sea quite shallow but be careful of the strong currents. A good place to try out surfing if you are a beginner as waves not too big. Keep walking along the beach and there are water sports and para sailing activities.

Marina de Vilamoura is a popular tourist destination with an array of shops, dining options and bars situated along the waterfront. Visitors can relish in the sophisticated atmosphere created by hotels, restaurants and bars lining the marina. Lovely marina, calm and relaxing. Worth a visit. Spent 4 days here for a quick get away. Visited end of February and weather was comfortable enough to wear jeans and a t-shirt with sun block still a must. Can imagine it to be busy in high season.

The tranquil and picturesque Praia da Oura is located on the Algarve coast, close to Albufeira and the popular bars and restaurants of The Strip. This peaceful beachfront cove is perfect for swimming, sunbathing or just relaxing in a stunning setting.

A 2 minute walk from our hotel. Sunbeds are comfy, but get here early to secure one! Bars and restaurants are handy for food and drink. A nice gentle slope into the sea with no rocks to navigate. Had a fantastic day here and the afternoon sun is beautiful.

Very long and beautiful beach. We came here in early March with the beach a lot less populated then during the summer. The water is cooler, but not unbearable. The rhythm of the waves is absolutely soothing in the early morning when the only other things to hear are occasional footsteps and the seagulls calling out from above.
The cafes and restaurants have decent food and drinks. Go through them and along the boardwalk to access the beach. The rocks around the beach are beautiful as well, there are some trails, but do be careful on or around them in case loose stones give way and bonk your head or cause you to lose footing.
Phillip Lucas — Google review
Clean beach plenty of things to do for children paddle boat hire body board hire ect is reasonably priced affordable for families with children as you can hire 4 person boats which leaves a few penny's extra for a meal on the sea front. The restaurant prices don't change much from other ones as you come down the main strip. You can stroll alone the cliffs to a smaller quiet beach.
Tay Xpert — Google review
Beautiful beach! It's small but there are enough beds and spots available, golden sand, there are quite big waves and the water is clear and refreshingly cold and right at the beach are restaurants and shops.
For me this was the best and most beautiful beach in albufeira! Perfect spot for a day at the beach and would recommend visiting atleast once.
For people seeking more adventure you can alsl walk a path on the cliffs so basicly it has it all here.

At the early morning, it’s almost empty making it a nice place to exercise or just relaxing. After 10am it’s more crowded, but still a good beach to go.
They have a lot of services at the beach and the restaurants around it are also very good.

Beach was very nice with caves and sometimes the waves are very strong. The jet ski ride was very safe as the people been dropped off on a boat with lifeguards to the jet sky in the sea and stays in the boat until they come back from the jet ski. Also pictures available for 20 euro taken by the lifeguards on the boat. Parachute was not that fun as it's like flying a kite in the sea, doesn't go much high and controlled by a rope by the lifeguards in the boat. But it's safe

Nice beach but very small and filled with tourists so I'd recommend other, bigger beaches. Inner city, Praia do Peneco is a much better alternative.

I really liked this beach . It’s a bit hilly to get down to it from the streets. You could pay for a tut tut to take you down or up for €10 each way. A few places to eat and an ice cream . There are sun beds and parasols to hire. Lovely Sandy beach. You can walk into the sea but then a sudden drop so be-careful with children . The waves are very strong and can take you off your feet. My husband was just in the sea and lost his glasses due to freak wave being bigger than he expected. Never got them back. It’s a very picturesque spot but be careful.
The beach has clear, shallow waters and is perfect for a lazy day by the sea. Fisherman tend their nets and boats right on the beach, giving it a quaint charm. At night, it is stunningly beautiful with the fishing boats visible at one end of the beach.
Amazing, beautiful, clean beach. Friendly employees where you can rent a beach chair for €7,50 per person for a whole day. Toilet/beach restaurant super close by.

Fantastic quiet beach but bare in mind I visited in late December (Christmas week). The entire week it was so peaceful, quiet and not many people around at all. An introverts dream 🥰🙌🏼 There was no sunbeds, umbrellas, rubbish or screaming humans - just peace 👌🏼✨ the beach was just fantastic and the views were amazing. Beautiful waves all around, ideal to just sit and read a book 📖 lovely sunsets at night too. Really picturesque. Christmas Day was the only time I seen the beach busy even at that it wasn’t overcrowded just Portuguese people with all their kids. Overall, highly recommend if you want somewhere peaceful to go.

This is a beautiful beach. It was always full as many other people thought the same. Where we were there were bars, restaurants and shops just of the beach...when the tides out you can walk for miles along it from 1 end the the other. You can also climb up on top of the cliffs where there are little trails that take you along the beach, and the views are amazing.

We visited this beach in the week and there were only a few people here, not too busy so that was a nice surprise. We also went on a hike after and the paths are 5/5 couldn’t recommend more if you’re going to this area, definitely go on a few hikes! It’s so worth it! And then we went to the nearby town which was a bit more touristy so we had lunch and got an Uber back to our hotel. The waters were clean yet had a lot of moss floating around which was a strange texture yet natural though. Very clean, has cafe and toilets but you have to eat at the cafe to use the toilets as they provide you a code to get in, overall very nice though.

I do not understand why people insist on piling up on top of each other at the entrance to the beaches. If you move down towards the right there are lovely spots around the sea stacks and cliffs with public toilet facilities at the restaurant at that end of the beach. Beautiful spot

Nice little beach with restaurants and cafe‘s. We were her in April and there weren‘t too many people here. There is also a nice lookout spot at one end of the beach.

Beautiful beach with some fantastic bars and restaurants. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon. Nice and quiet away from the bustling neighbouring towns. Would highly recommend.

First beach we visited in algarve. Small boulevard'ish area but if you step onto the beach and see the vieuw that opens up left and right youll love it. Theres some nice low level exploration possible, not really actual climbing. But still so nice with all the little pools that are shaped in the rocks with lowtide. Good beach for tanning also, clean.

Great area, quiet, no Stags or Hens, just small quiet beach with a few nice restaurants and bars.
Aquashow Park Hotel is a contemporary resort situated in a bustling location, offering spacious and modern accommodations. It is a 4-star family hotel that boasts unlimited free access to the Aquashow Park water park, which includes thrilling rides and attractions. The hotel's prime location near Quarteira beach and Vilamoura town provides guests with easy access to other local tourist destinations.
Probably one of the best water parks in Portugal. It’s not large but has enough to get the adrenaline pumping. The place is well laid out, don’t have to walk long distances to access any of the water rides. It’s clean, the water quality is well maintained and the lawns are well groomed for you to lie down and relax after between rides or just to sun bathe. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. One can rent a locker for a deposit of 10€ (5€ will be refunded after you return the key) for your belongings. Try and book online tickets for convenience and discounts. If you are bored of beaches and want an adrenaline rush give this place a try. 😊

This is about Aquashow not the hotel but google are a bit Dumb ! So we came in mid January! We live nearby but had never been before, the big outdoor park is closed from about November till March , however the inside pools and soft play area are great for families ! Some things are height restricted but our 3 years old could do everything in the soft play and absolutely loved it, perfect for a cold or rainy day ! Let’s talk cost, adults are free in the soft play 10 euros each for the kids , for one hour, beer and snacks available for adults ! I’m told but gets busy in the holidays but was quiet when we arrived . I’ll review the wet area separately but the soft play is 5 stars (out of season)

Quality hotel, quality food and staff are really friendly.
Stayed here for a week and would come back again, especially with the entrance to the water park next to it.
Is a bit far from the centre but you can catch a bus easily.
Main swimming pool could be with being a bit deeper.

Me and my family had a wonderful stay here at the Aquashow park hotel, as we have stayed here a few times over the past few years and we couldn’t recommend it enough. The rooms and the rest of the hotel are so modern and clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking to stay here.

It was a great experience at the hotel simply because of the staff. Every individual was very helpful with everything specially Milla. Though the water park was closed when we were there, we used the indoor pool which is small but does the job. Outside pool is big enough but only for summers. Food was great with plenty of options. Breakfast had many choices. The only trouble is the location but still not bad. It is quite close to vilamoura beach and closest train 🚆 station is 5 minutes drive away. Overall I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Will definitely go back.

Yes yes yes yes!!! Worth every cent. I tried everything - massage, fishies, all saunas and the cold water dip - absolutely amazing! We went there end of December, less crowded (actually, very few people) - it made the visit absolutely perfect :) we will be coming back in summer, to trial the outdoor slides.

Great place to stay with a family. Location is slightly awkward and you will need to get taxis or ubers but other than that it is a brilliant hotel and has excellent service. Cannot fault the staff at all. And the hotel is very clean and kept very well. Rooms were very spacious too and beds very comfortable.

Perfect family hotel, quite in terms of partying, plenty things to do for children. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside I d say about the food, very little options specially breakfast. Rooms are clean and bright, location is great, I would recommend to get a car if you want to go to Quarteira city there is a lot of restaurants near by the Marina. I would stay again for sure in this hotel. Hotel is close enough to city Quarteira, it's a bit of walking distance and there is now walk path which is pitty. Otherwise you could walk to Quarteira for sure.

Fantastic hotel with truly outstanding service, rooms and food… highlight of our trip to Portugal was stopping in this hotel for 1 night with tickets to the aqua park included.
Dinner menu was a surprise, expected to be held to ransom by the prices, but actually very reasonable and the food was good. Breakfast was a buffet and was included in our stay, suffice to say I ate about three peoples worth of food and then sank to the bottom of the wave pool next door :)

It started great, which a great female colleague at reception, explaining everything. The room had unstable hot and cold wate, but it wasn’t deal breaking as the reception agreed to change my room.
The most frustrating part is that Igor from reception asked me for cash to rental equipment for hotel activities, rather than using my credit card associated with the stay. One comes to the hotel wallet free for vacations, and the reception employee ask the visitor to travel 5 minutes under the harsh sun to go to the ATM to get cash and only then enjoy the hotel.
That shouldn’t be que standard of service that this place ambitious. If it is, I’m not coming back again.

Don't go in August, most slides/rides involve a queue of 1hr - 1.5hrs.
Its a good water park, but you won't get to go on everything and will spend most of the day queueing. Some of the red/hard slides are a bit lame. Left feeling we hadn't got our money's worth. The staff make a decent effort to keep things moving, but there's just too many people.
There are massive queues to get in at 10am, everyone wants to get there promptly. Despite being open till 7pm, everything starts to shut down at 6pm, so the queues can empty. At no point in the day does it get quieter.
The changing rooms are pathetically small. There's plenty of grass to put towels down on to sit, but most of it is damp/wet even away from rides (to be fair it needs to be watered otherwise it would be a dry dust bowl), and you'll spend most of the day in a queue anyway.

Spent quite a bit here i guess it may of been the wrong time not sure if it's hotels of travel agent but both promoting outdoor water when it was closed. Gym was closed. Hotel don't even bother respond to your emails. As for the location it is very remote nothing is walking distance you will have to take bus or taxi. I recommend using Bolt it's cheaper and efficient. Good for kids but go in the right time check website and whomever your booking with.
Indoor water park is good cost a bit but a lot to do there.
To the hotel if you read this can you look in to my emails about lost property. Not worth much but has sentimental value.

Wow amazing got here when it was super sunny but not too busy so got on everything several times rapid! All the rides are awesome and surprisingly super fast and colourful too many too describe and on the rides I left my phone in the lockers which you rent for €5 and they have a €5 deposit that you get back if you take back the key etc but they are sk worth it. The food is great even the burgers but eat outside they do better food like chicken on the grill 😁 didn't do the animal shows but seen them passing on the water coaster they look good also the water coaster... amazing goes on for ages! Deffo recommend for all ages take plenty of suncream it's not got a lot of shade also beach shoes the ground is super hot! You can buy a waterproof cover for your phone for €6 worth it! Amazing time!! Recommend to all ages 100%

June 2023 - stayed at the Aquashow Hotel and visited the water park too for 4 days. We were a group of 15 family members who had flown in from various corners of the world to spend time together as a family.
The hotel is a standard 3 star - check in was smooth and there were some stars who went above and beyond - the restaurant and bar manager in particular: unfortunately the hotel didn’t provide some of the amenities we have come to expect as standard with most hotels around the world:
The room cleaning was poor and basic. Loo rolls were not replenished voluntarily - had to ask. No water fountains and lack of drinking water provision even in the restaurants - this is especially poor practice in this day and age! No body cream provided. No tea, coffee, hot water facilities in the rooms. Mini fridges didn’t work in some of the rooms. Shower screens were leaky and left the bathroom floor in puddles. Blocked sink - was resolved but would expect housekeeping staff to have flagged this to the maintenance team and not a guest having to request this!
And while the breakfast was very good and catered for most options - dinner was repetitive and not particularly appealing - choices were poor. Distinct lack of veg options and no labelling of foods. Same pizza option - margarita every single day! How difficult is it for a hotel to provide drinking water in the reception area for guests?
Location wise the hotel and water park are not ideal for much else. OK for a short stay of 2/3 days.

Superb family friendly hotel. Pleasant staff / decent food/ clean / wonderful kids club workers. Oh and Hugo (barman from the pool bar) makes the best cocktails in the algarve, no joke. ***Only important suggestion would be the placement of 2 lifeguards to oversee the indoor/outdoor pools***

I have only ever used the indoor parqinho. Best place to take your kids, but you need to lower the prices of your indoor parqinho.
There are so many people who would come here every day just to have an hour without their overly energized child not driving them crazy. Create a membership for locals, even a punchcard with a free visit after 5. I personally know 100 dads that would agree. It may not be fairly priced for local Portuguese (€10/E per hour), but the experience the children have in this amazing indoor park cannot be matched by other parqinho.

Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, spacious bedrooms with balconies overlooking the poolside or the waterpark next to it
The meals were lovely, good choices at the breakfast buffe. Customer service was excellent from the reception to the staff at the bar and the restaurant.
Indoor pool with jacuzzi and outdoor pool for adults and children.
Discounts for guests to use at the waterpark.
The waterpark is a separate building from the hotel. It's beside the hotel but not in the hotel. About 3 minutes walk.
We went off-peak and on a weekday, so no issues with crowd or queues.
We had a lovely stay, comfy beds and pillows, well laid out bathroom, enjoyable meals and drinks. We would love to visit again.
Enjoyable experience.

I thoroughly enjoy Aquashow, the park and the Hotel. There is something new everytime we visit, and my family has made it a yearly tradition to visit. The staff don’t bother, the cleaning room staff are pleasant and the activities at night in the hotel are entertaining for families, there is karaoke, games, bingo, etc.
The breakfast buffet is always delicious and enjoyable, just as the snacks are at the bar.
The outdoor pool is fantastic, as is the indoor one and the jacuzzi. It’s diverse and fun. For kids there is also a small playground near the pool. I cannot comment on the spa, but it looks pleasing.
The view from the hotel to the park from the room is always a bonus and beautiful at night.

The staff here were great and nothing was to much trouble for them and they were fantastic with our children. The rooms were immaculate and pristine. The breakfast was your usual buffet type and was great. The bar snacks were wholesome and very reasonable in price, I would recommend the lasagne I had it more than once very tasty.

Very good aqua park. You can stay all day so best to plan for the day. Most people arrive with umbrellas, towels, chairs and blankets. There are lots of green areas to set up your ⛱️ like at the beach. Not much shelter otherwise.
As well as the water slides, wave pools and roller coaster. They put on shows with birds of prey and parrots and reptiles. The birds and animals are also taken around the park for paid photos.
Food from restaurants was reasonably priced for a theme park type environment.
We had a great day. Only problem was the queues were quite long for the bigger rides/slides but we had a great time.

A nice place to stay, a little away from town, but wouldn't be put off by that, download the user app and book those. Into town was about 4.40 euros. The bus one way was over 10. There was 4 of us, so half the price of a round of soft drinks to put it into a bit of context. All nice and clean, we were half board and the breakfast was very good. The water park next was brilliant if a bit busy, but we did go at the very peak!!

This was an amazing tour! The scenery was spectacular! The guide was patient and very knowledgeable! We learned so much about the geology and marine life of the area! Riccardo and Octavio we're outstanding hosts on our kayak tour with them today. Can't thank them enough for the tour of the amazing caves and cliffs along the Algarve coast between Praia grande (Ferragudo) and a few kilometers east. An absolute must tour if your exploring the Algarve region. Even if you have never Kayaked before, they'll take care of you. You'll also learn a lot about the marine life and history of the area.

Such a nice trip to discover part of the beautiful Algarves coast and its caves, and definitely better in a kayak than in a crowded boat! Our guide, the owner, was very nice and super interesting as he shared with us his knowledge of the sea, wildlife, and geology. We were particularly lucky with the weather conditions, but I can only recommend Algarve Freedom Kayak!

Ricardo was a great tour guide, extremely knowledgeable in both Marine Biology and local history. He explained the local Flora, Fauna and Marine Species, and the history of the caves. He took us out and we explored caves and kayaked a good few KMs of the coastline.

Ricardo is an extremely kind and humorous person who enjoys taking care of his guests and always has a funny remark ready. He has extensive knowledge about everything related to the sea and its inhabitants and took a lot of time to tell us all about it. Thanks to our kayaks, we were able to get very close to the caves (or even inside them). Additionally, thanks to a stopover at a beautiful, secluded beach, we were able to explore the area a bit and swim in the waves. Thank you very much, dear Ricardo, and all the best to you!

Great guide! He made the tour really interesting. We were provided with a water proof bag, water proof phone bag along with the kayak and paddles. We stopped at a deserted beach and were given tge chance to try SUP paddle, rackets, balls, snorkeling etc. Really great! And the end we were given the chance to kayak back instead of being pulled by boat which was great. All very well organized and a great experience for all ages.

Very fun experience. Guides have great energy and enthusiasm for the coastal geology and marine life and will make every effort to show you many interesting things when possible.
The guides are also very accommodating and patient when helping first time kayakers.
They set a leisurely pace so don’t be intimidated if you have never done this before.
You are provided with high quality waterproof bags, waterproof phone cases and of course a high quality ocean kayak for the trip.
There are many caves to explore and beaches to see. We stopped briefly on one very beautiful secluded beach for a quick break. The cave tour trip is 3-4hours.
I would 100% recommend booking yourself onto this kayak tour. It’s an amazing coastline to explore and the guides are great!

Amazing experience with Ricardo! He was very knowledgeable and we felt safe with him the entire tour. Our group was quite experienced so we got to tour more caves and go on a private beach. There was a boat following us and we were first towed out that day as the waves were quite high. We travelled here from Lagos and this was the defs the highlight of our trip! Amazing value and it was a great adventure. Note you WILL get wet and only recommend this if you like being on the water. Wear a bathing suit. I have kayaked many times in closed kayaks but this was different with open kayaks and we encountered some waves / swells. 5 stars!!

We had a great experience with Ricardo. Definitely recommend this tour. The value can't be beat. On the day we went, the weather picked up a bit which made it fun for experienced paddlers, but if you are not comfortable in a kayak, you might want to wait for perfect weather as the swells caused problems for some. Ricardo helped them through it, safely and effectively. Ricardo's knowledge of the marine life and the environment is a big plus and the caves are really special. We had a very fun and memorable experience.

Wildwatch Algarve offers an unforgettable experience with professional marine biologists and experienced skippers guiding you to increase your chances of encountering dolphins or whales in their natural habitat. The team is praised for providing a lifetime experience, showcasing the power, elegance, and joy of dolphins in the open sea. Despite weather conditions affecting cave exploration, guests appreciated the full 2.5-hour sea excursion where two pods of dolphins were spotted.
Thanks to the whole team for showing people dolphins in their natural habitat - not captured in an aquarium.
It was a true lifetime experience to watch the dolphins in the open sea - their power, elegance, speed, joy.
Also the trip with the speed boat was super fun.
Thanks to the whole crew - you are all super kind. And also thanks for explaining all the background information around dolphins.
I am glad that people like you take the effort to study this creatures and try to protect them.

Amazing experience. The dolphin photos already speak for themselves. But everything else was amazing as well. When the wind forecast for our original booking was unfavourable, they contacted us long enough in advance, to allow us to join another tour a couple of days earlier. That was the longer caves & dolphins tour, instead of just the dolphin tour that we had originally booked, but they did not charge us anything extra. We were welcomed very warmly before the tour, and afterwards we were treated to tea, coffee, apples and cookies, while we were shown video footage (including underwater shots) from our tour, and one of the staff passionately gave us a lot of additional fascinating information about the dolphins and other wildlife.

We had the most amazing time with wildwatch algarve. We booked the dolphings & caves tour and even though the weather didn't allow us to go into the caves (which was absolutely understandable under these conditions) we wouldn't have changed a thing about the trip. When offered a refund for the caves part of the trip, we refused as it was higher power and we spent the full 2,5h at sea and found two pods of dolphins. We were the only boat and it was a truly magical and peaceful experience out there. The marine biologists of the team were eager to answer all of our questions and even gave us more insights into their work when we arrived back ashore. After doing several trips of this kind in different countries I can honestly say, this one was the best.

Very very nice experience!! My sister and I booked for "wild dolphins" on the website. The welcoming was so warm, and once on the boat the marine biologist explained everything we needed to know (and more) about the cetaceans we were supposed to see (and we saw them!). There was also a rescue dog on the boat. At the end of the tour (we saw striped dolphins and common dolphins), we had a coffee time with a woman (forgot her name, sorry) who showed us some bits of the video of our trip and an interesting and inspiring presentation about whales, their importance in the ocean ecosystem and what we can do in order to preserve them. My sister and I appreciated so much the overall experience and the effort this organisation puts to preserve marine creatures. Strongly recommended!!

Fantastic! We were so lucky to see the dolphins in a ‘feeding frenzy’ along with the gannets plucking the sardines out of the water! The whole experience from start to finish where we could view on video the underwater footage of the dolphins and huge shoals of fish along with brief educational talk. This is a must! Thank you!

Professional team which clearly enjoy the work they are doing. We spotted a group of female common dolphins with a newborn calf. Dear Wildwatch Team,
I would like to sincerely thank you for the wonderful 3-day adventure with the dolphins. After the first outing with you and seeing how beautiful the dolphins are, I couldn't resist buying more tickets for the following days. I think it's fantastic that you treat us to sweets and drinks after returning and analyze our trip, teaching us about these magnificent creatures. I have learned a lot during these 3 trips with you, and I am very grateful for that.
I wish you a fantastic season, and I hope to see you next year!

We had a remarkable experience with the combination sea caves and dolphins.
The trip was well worth it. We were seated in a comfortable 16 seat speed boat and first headed for dolphin watch. After a few miles into the sea we spotted a small group of female dolphins with some newborns . As they were sleepy and also our guide advised not to disturb the new mama’s too much we header further out for dolphins. After a while we found a bigger group of animals that were very awake and played with them for almost 15 minutes. The dolphins loved swimming around, under and next to the boat and 3 had great encounters with them. It was an amazing experience.
After that we headed to the sea caves of Benagil en the cliffs around and did some great sightseeing.
After around 2,5 hours and 64 kilometers we were back in faraguda harbour with some new experiences.
Also during the whole trip a GoPro video is shot (including underwater footage) which is also sent to the participants of the trip (without extra charge).

Absolutely awsome trip with this company! Scedueled were 1:45 hours, we went back to the port after 3 hours.
We saw a lot of dolphins (bottlenose and common) and even had sight of a puffin.
Also, the debriefing afterwards was very good: we had coffee and a marine biologist gave us an input about the trip, the species wie saw and answered some questions.
All in all a clear 10/10, I would highly recommend. And for sure, I'll be back again the next time I'm around

Excellent trip for my family to go on, I’d highly recommend if you are in the area to book. From the welcome, knowledge and experience of the staff/owners to knowing that they are there to ultimately help protect the dolphins & other sea life is really wonderful. Total bonus we got a video of the trip included in the price too. I’ll definitely do this again if I’m back on the Algarve.
We did the 3 hour trip, which stops at a cafe (be sure to get a toasted sandwich - they are good) and you visit a really pretty spring. The countryside was amazing and everything smells of eucalyptus. I was a bit apprehensive...but shouldn't have been - it was fine. Not too steep, or sheer drops off the side of the track and it's very professionally run. Dieter and Jo are very friendly and will look after you. They gave us instructions to meet at the fire station in a nearby town, and we're there waiting when we arrived to take us to the start point. Jo was very responsive on email. When get back you can have a beer at their bar. We really enjoyed it.

Very nice people at Hugo's, unfortunately my quad was badly maintained. Mirrors broken and duct taped on, no braking liquid in rear circuit so no rear brakes ... tour was nice but very calm. Drink stop was exceptionally closed... swim in the lake would be even better without leaches... next tim better...

What a great trip! We went on the 2 hour quad bike tour and loved it. 2 of our group had never been on a quad bike before hence the shorter tour. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere. Questions were welcomed and any concerns were quickly addressed.
The tour itself is guided by a very knowledgeable guide who leads the way through a maze of tracks that would have the rest of us lost in minutes. He was happy to stop on request to take photos or break for water but also happy to keep riding too. The scenery was unbelievable! one minute you are on top of a cliff with views over the land and next surrounded by trees in the woods.
If I could offer any advice to people looking at this tour it would be to take the longer tour as the time passes so quickly once you are out. We would have easily managed the 3 hour tour. I can't praise Hugo's quad adventure enough and we will certainly be doing it again.

Amazing, must visit. The drive up the mountain top is worth it by it self. If you drive slowly enough there is lots of balconies/road sides to stop and admire the views. When visiting the mountain in May there was hardly any people.

The ride up there is fun, with decent to good roads, miradouro just below the top and a good parking area on top! On weekdays dyring the day its not crowded, but it can be in weekends. There is also a café and an Artisenal store next to the parking lot. Quite enjoyable too! Make sure you are daring to drive up to the mountain, if comming from the NL and you have never driven hills or mountains it can be quite a challenge, just make sure you dont try to shift up gears to quickly. I never had problems with it but i have seen people struggling with their cars or even (camper) vans.

This is really an amazing view. You can see both the west and south coast and get a great view over the whole area. We were there in august and the temperature was really nice and not cold so no need to dress up during summer.

Often hazy so the views are obscured. But it’s still a place we visit every few years. The coffee was better than I expected.

Amazing place, you can see the whole Algarve. Also many parking spots (which is not always the case in Portugal) Easy road to drive. It's everything what you expect. Just a nice view and quiet peace.
Praia de Monte Clérigo is a picturesque beach located on the western Atlantic coast, just a short drive from Aljezur. Flanked by rocky cliffs, this wide-sand beach offers stunning coastal views and tidal pools. The area also features picnic spots and a legendary site called Fonte das Mentiras.
One of our favorite local beaches! In the low season it is great for taking the dogs for a walk along the beach. It is also family friendly and easy to get to by car.

Great beach. No sunloungers, has lifeguards, disabled facilities, toilets, restaurants nearby and surf hire. Can be very busy with parking an issue. That being said plenty of parking on the roads leading to and from the beach and there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out there towels and umbrellas.

Probably our most favourite beach during our Algarve trip. Fun to watch the surf schools, our fun loved playing in the sea puddles that form, climb on the rocks that are also good wind shelter. Surf rentals as well as restaurants around and enough parking at least for a visit end of May.

Stunning! Not really one beach, but a whole section of coastline at low tide, amazing interesting geological rock formations to fish from, backed by soaring cliffs. Beautiful sand and lots of surfing hire etc in the tiny village which backs the beach. Some good cafes etc You can't really go wrong here for a beach day out!!!

It was definitely our favourite beach among all the beaches around Aljezur we visited. It has great waves for surfers and amazing view from both small hills on both sides of the beach. It never gets too crowded. We spent a week here mid July just when the season started.

This is a stunning beach, with good amenities and a cafe nearby. There a car park that charges, but you can also park along the street. It does get busy so get here early. If you looking for a quiet beach this isn't the one. But, it's got normal roads, parking, and places to eat.

The Castle of Mértola is a medieval fortress that stands proudly atop a hill, offering commanding views of the surrounding landscape. While not the most aesthetically pleasing castle, it is the focal point of Mértola and well worth the trek to reach it. From the river, the town presents a picturesque scene with its stone walls and whitewashed houses culminating in this sturdy stone castle. Visitors can explore this historic site free of charge and soak in its ancient ambiance.
We stumped up on this little beautiful peaceful well maintained town on the way from Spain to Lisbon. The castle is so well maintained with all renovated levels that have wooden and marble stairs and museum floors with a local staff who was extremely nice and knowledgeable to tell us about the town. Everyone who worked here was so nice, proud and educated of their own town. The entry fee is FREE. I'm super impressed with how they very well managed to maintain their history, the whole neighborhood and castle. So much respect for these people and this town. The whole atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxing. We also stopped by a restaurant down the tiny street and the food was so delicious and healthy. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed our visit. The town is fabulous around the castle with cobbled streets and picturesque buildings. It is a bit of a climb to the castle but not too bad. Once there, there is an excavation underway of roman ruins around the castle which is very interesting with plenty of view points. The castle offers fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.
We visited in November and it was free.

The castle of Mértola was impressive And well worth a visit, especially as the town and its restaurants complement the castle that together become a very nice one day trip. The only minus is the lack of a guided tour at the castle. Visited Alhambra last year and without a guide it would not have been as good.

Pulo do Lobo, also known as Jump of the Wolf, is a popular tourist spot located approximately 11 miles (18 kilometers) from Mertola. It is renowned for being one of the most striking sections along the Guadiana River. Legend has it that the narrow stretch got its name because a wolf could leap across it in a single bound. The waterfall itself is quite dramatic, with the waters of the river cascading through a rocky gorge.
All rounded trail is around 6 km. by rocks, by gravel road and small path.
If you like nature and silent places, nice to visit
sugni ignats — Google review
We drove from the West. Quite a long drive along bumpy narrow roads eventually leading to a dirt track for the last 1.5km. Google tries to take you off road but follow the signposts through the village instead. The rock formations are interesting but quite honestly not worth the trip. There is a footpath along the west but on the east side there are boardwalks. No toilet facilities. The water looked polluted with scum and foam. So many nicer places to go to so I don't recommend this one unless you happen to be nearby.

Minus point here is, they have a reat elevator for people who has difficulty in dislocate themselves, but out of order for ages.

The Regional Museum of Beja, also known as the Queen Leonor Museum, is a former Franciscan convent dating back to the 15th century. This Portuguese Baroque building now houses a museum with an impressive collection of historic and artistic works. The interior boasts ornate Gothic and Manueline architecture, including a rococo chapel with golden woodwork from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a marble-inlaid chapel.
Art for art lovers . Baja have it around just walk and you will find

The old church here has an impressive interior, but the rest of the exhibits in the museum tend to be dark and gloomy. None of the information boards have English translations, so much of the explanatory information is lost to non-Portuguese speakers. That said, the entrance fee is very cheap and includes the entrance to another museum.

A beautiful and interesting place to visit - the sad but romantic story of Sister Mariana whose love letters to a French young man named Noel Barton, Chamilly's Marquis were discovered after her death. These letters were world renowned. The church is very intricately carved with much gold leaf used. I enjoyed an excellent salad to finish off the day .

A small regional museum housed in an old convent of Our Lady of the Conception. It is worth a visit, especially if you like late Gotic and Baroque architecture as well as tiles - there are beautiful azulejos everywhere, both blue and white (sometimes also yellow) in the Baroque style and also some late Gothic Moorish looking azulejos. Housing a beautiful marble head of Julius Caesar as well, one of the few made when he was still alive. Friendly staff and hopefully they'll be able to make renovations of the building soon enough, the place deserves some decent care and restoration.

Convent is actually a Pousada Hotel. But you can explore the convent's massive rooms by just walking in. Lovely calm impressive building. Good as a hotel too with good swimming pool.
Beja Castle, a reconstructed 13th-century stone fortress situated on a hill in the heart of Beja, is a prominent and emblematic monument. The castle boasts an impressive wall surrounding the old city and features architectural styles such as Manueline, Gothic, Mannerist, and Romanesque. Its most notable feature is the nearly 40-meter high keep, which offers stunning views from the highest viewpoint in the region.

We visited this castle and were able to park almost next to the city walls. The castle entrance was a few minutes walk away, following the line of the walls through parkland.
Entry to the castle is free and you can walk part of the castle walls. It is a small castle and there are no buildings inside but the tower is both visible for miles and allows you to see for miles! It is well restored and you can climbed the 180 odd steps to the roof, passing through three rooms with vaulted ceilings to get there.

Beja Castle
Time spent: 40 min
Price: 2 EUR - Tower
Car Parking: behind the Castle/Se
Bike parking: not available
Castelo de Beja is a medieval castle in Beja. The first types of walls were built [4th century] on the Beja's hill during the Roman Empire [Pax Julia]. Part of the Roman arch ("Évora Gate") dated from this general construction in the Roman provinces. The city was very important and a lot of things inside the castle were changed or improved by Visigoths, Moors, and Portuguese rulers.
The region was reconquered in 1159 by the forces of King Afonso Henriques. In 1253, King D. Afonso III began work on reconstructing the fortress. King D. Dinis ordered the construction of the keep tower in 1310. At the beginning of the 16th century, King D. Manuel I began a project to improve the fortification, that possibly included the construction of the vaulted ceiling in the keep tower. In 1790, part of the fortifications were demolished to construct the new church.
The castle was secondly [after the period of Reconquista] used during the 19 century. against the army of Napoleon.
You can enter the castle for free (and the local museum also), but the price to visit the tower is 2 EUR [or 1 EUR for students].
[!]Take into consideration that the schedules of the castle and the tower are different. The castle: 9:30-12:30/14-18. The tower: 9:30-12:00/14:00-18:00. The last entrance into the tower is 30 min before it is closed.

The ruins are well preserved, perhaps the support structures could be renovated as they don't seem to offer much security; the explanatory plaques next to the ruins are informative and very detailed... they could show the ruins as they originally were.
The space needs some investment, particularly with regard to the paths as they are full of herbs and the whole space in the subject 'gardening' is poorly maintained.
The service is excellent, very helpful and friendly.
We loved the guided tour by the feline of the place!!!

O espaço precisa de algum investimento, nomeadamente no que toca aoa caminhos pois estão cheios de ervas e todo o espaço no assunto 'jardinagem' está pouco cuidado.

Anyone with any interest in Roman times should visit this site. The main building is a monument to someone's vanity. The site is fairly large. Information is limited but enough to explain what can be seen. Simão the cat was on hand to keep order. Modern scaffolding is used to support some of the structure which at first sight is a little off putting. However, the wooden framework under the arches is almost the same as would have been used by the builders. If it's wet, take suitable shoes. The grass is quite long in places.

Amazing remains of a Roman villa in the middle of rural Alentejo. Happened to be in the area, and a quick Google search found this place just north of Beja. It is worth the drive and small entrance fee (€3). Has a temple, bath complex, and vaulted cellars. The best preserved areas were repurposed as a medieval church, decorated with frescoes from the 17th century. Visited on a Saturday morning and there were very few people there. If you visit in summer, be prepared for the sun and heat.
Bryan Fant — Google review
While checking vineyards, on a wine trip in the south of Portugal, I stopped by the Roman ruins.
The staff, incredibly pleasant and accommodating, played me an in-depth introductory film in the site’s auditorium.
I was then taken to the ruins themselves, were I was strongly mesmerised with imposing structures and fascinated by the overall backdrop, the pathway, and the landscape design. The ruins were so much more than I had anticipated.
Amazing Roman buildings from the first to fourth centuries still stand robust and majestic in the landscape.
Following the path, and the inner structure check, full explanations were available.
I highly recommend it; it was a fantastic experience overall.

Our experience was simply unforgettable. The cellars were quite impressive. But the best part--you have to do this--was having lunch at their restaurant. What a wonderful tasting menu! They change it every time, though, because they use only the freshest available. And speaking of freshness, we had THE best tomato salad ever. Very high up on the mountain is this nice castle that we went to. A lot of it is sightseeing, but you really get to see all of the old buildings and etc. It seems like they were fixing things up or remodeling things, which is a good thing. Otherwise, there's not much else to do but as always very cool!

I loved the view. This castle has 4 towers and each of them has a different view. The town and the sea were my favorite. I was a bit scare of the stairs tho so I hope they change them. We were the only visitors there so we managed to take many photos. Actually the whole town was amazing. There are human sized figures everywhere that symbolize the history of this town. Free entry to the castle grounds and walking about the structure is mostly unrestricted, which lets you get a better feel of the castle building and what it would've been like in the past. The actual inside building in the main tower was blocked off although it didn't take away much from the entire experience. Amazing views from all sides of the castle. Small description board at the entrance is all you get in the way of information, although the view is likely what people are most interested in.

An attractive small whitewashed town with an information centre just inside the gates. Plenty of small carparks up at the town level so you don't have to climb the hill in the heat. A free castle at the end of the village where the centre was converted into a bull ring many years ago. You need to take care on some of the walls but not too bad as there are also metal steps.

Simple castle with free access with a stunning view on Monsaraz and the surrounding area, dominant the lake. Be careful because some passages and stairs are not secured and very safe.

After seeing Marvao castle just a few days earlier I was a little disappointed. The views from the castle are fantastic, but the castle itself has been transformed into a bull fighting ring and it is not very big, there is not much to see. I enjoyed walking around the town more than visiting the castle.

The Chapel of Bones in Évora, housed within the Church of St. Francis, is a peculiar tourist spot adorned with the skeletal remains of more than 5,000 monks. These bones were exhumed from nearby cemeteries to create space for additional burials. The walls of this small 16th-century chapel are lined with skulls and body parts in an eerie display that fascinates visitors.
Sure, it’s a little macabre, but the history and uniqueness is worth the trip. The story about why the bones were used, the poem within, and the inscription above the door are beautiful. It’s a fairly small room, especially considering it’s supposedly made up of 5,000 corpses, and most people were in-and-out in less than 5 minutes. The entrance fee is €5, cash or card, and includes some other artifacts, a nativity museum upstairs, and a nice view of the town from the balcony.

A Unique and Thought-Provoking Experience.
Capela dos Os Capela dos Ossos, also known as the Chapel of Bones, is a truly captivating and thought-provoking site. The chapel, adorned with human bones and skulls, offers a glimpse into the fascinating history and mortality of humanity. The atmosphere inside is solemn and eerie, yet it serves as a powerful reminder of our own impermanence. The intricate bone displays and macabre architecture make for a hauntingly beautiful sight. While it may not be for the faint of heart, Capela dos Ossos is an extraordinary and unforgettable attraction, providing a unique perspective on life and death. Highly recommended for those seeking an unconventional and contemplative experience.

The Chapel of Bones itself is very small. It is a single room where most people will spend 5 minutes. It's fascinating and a grim reminder of everyone's mortality.
For the entrance fee, this chapel alone wouldn't be worth it, but the fee also allows access to other areas and displays throughout the church, including hundreds of nativity scenes from around the world, and a small museum with artifacts. My family and I spent an hour or two in these other areas, and we felt it was very much worthwhile for both the time and the entrance fee.
Jeff Eng — Google review
I was expecting something bigger to be honest. The price is a bit high for something that takes you 5min to see. You have access to a small museum though, to the rooftop of the church and to temporary exhibitions (it was the nativity represented around the world when I visited).
Ticket is 5e for adults, 3.5 for students. You can pay by card only from 10e.

A simply amazing place in Évora! Definitely, a must on the list of any traveler. The chapel is beyond impressive and it's unique. The pictures speak for themselves. If you have an issue with seeing bones and death, heads up, there are also mummies exposed there and there are bones all over the walls.

What a interesting place to visit. Literally a chapel built with the remains of thousands plastered into the walls a a memorial to how short life is. History shows a church founded by the Franciscans in 1200. The nativity’s from around the world were a sight to see.

It is an interesting place to visit in Evora, it definitely is something different I have not seen anywhere else. The Chapel of Bones is a small chapel built with bones and skulls on the columns and on the walls all around.
Visiting the Chapel gives a good reminder about the fact that everything is temporary and the explanations in the chapel help give more context about it.
When we visited there were also two mummies of a dad and a son. Included in the ticket you also have an exhibition about the Nativity around the world.
Overall I would say that this is an interesting site and definitely if you are in Evora I would recommend stopping by.

Not recommended for children who are too young. This is a chapel with bones from 5000 people adorning the walls and columns. Part of the museum tour with ticket cost Euro 6.
A unique experience.

It was unique and very interesting chapel. Tickets were cheap. We didn't wait as it was empty. I'm not sure if it's the same during weekends. The only problem is that it's too far from Lisbon so you must have s car to get there.

Everywhere there is written that’s an unmissable spot and.. couldn’t agree more! The inscription at the entrance gives already chills. And the interiors are really ground for reflection about life and death. Beautiful in a creepy way. Definitely take the time to go and visit it.

The Capela dos Ossos is one of the most visited places in Evora. For me, It was a mix of feelings, scary and impressive. It was built by Franciscan monks. An estimated 5,000 corpses were exhumed to decorate the walls of the chapel. The bones, which came from ordinary people who were buried in Évora's medieval cemeteries, were arranged by the Franciscans in a variety of patterns

Expected more but it’s different then anything I have ever seen. I can’t believe they actually used human bones in the making of this chapel. Some of the artifacts like the picture of the cup are over 1,000 years old. The history in these old countries never ceases to amaze me.

The ticket cost around 6 euros per person including the museum and the Chapel of Bones. It's quite an experience to see the master mind of architecture of the chapel using real human bones. (If you are a sensitive person, it might be overwhelming).
The museum contains valuable historic paintings and statues of the Catholic church history.

Apart from the bone chapel - which is interesting enough - the rest of the museum has a very cheerful nativity exposition which is really enjoyable. The terrace also has a nice view over Evora. The adjacent church is beautiful (free entrance).

A provoking chapel with bones and skulls all over the walls and pillars. This is an encredible place and is really thought provoking. Besides skulls and bones on the walls there are also two mummies in the chapel. The roof of the chapel is also beautifully decorated. The entrance to the Chapel of Bones and the museum is just 6 euros and is well worth it, there was practically no wait for the tickets. When we visited it was a bit busy but at some times calm. Besides this you also have access to the museum with Christian paintings/religious art and many nativity scenes.

The Chapel of Bones, Evora Portugal is a truly unique and fascinating spot, unlike any other religious building you are likely to encounter. Imagine stepping into a small chapel, every surface intricately decorated with thousands of human bones and sculls. Sculls stare down from the vault above, femurs form arches and ribs line the walls crating a macabre yet oddly beautiful mosaic. Visiting the Chapel of Bones is a thought provoking experience. It’s a powerful reminder of our own mortality and encourages contemplation on life, death, and the eternal cycle of existence.

An amazingly interesting site! The bone chapel is just a small part of the entire property. I believe it was €10, which for us, was worth it! It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before!! We purchased tickets on site and there was no wait during a weekend at in June.

One of my favourite monuments in Portugal, a grim yet beautiful reminder of our mortality. The entry includes visiting the museum, which is also reccomend for both its historic religious pieces and their collection of nativity scenes from all over

Amazing experience coming to see the chapel of the bones. A bit macabre for sure, but the Franciscan monks in the 16th century thought this was appropriate since the local cemeteries were being reclaimed and they were trying to save the bones.
Praça do Giraldo is a serene and peaceful paved square that boasts a stunning fountain from the 1500s, charming terraced cafes, and striking Gothic-style buildings. The architecture in this area is truly remarkable, with unique designs that capture the eye's attention. From other reviews we were expecting these Roman Baths to be difficult to find but once you have identified the building - the town hall - the receptionist pointed us in the direction of the baths and gave us an explanatory leaflet that was in English as well as Portuguese. The baths are interesting as much for their situation in the middle of the building, you can see offices through windows around them, as for the construction of the baths. The bath is a 9 m circular bath with steps like a jacuzzi and there are some remains from the furnace too. It isn't worth going out of your way for but if you are passing Monday to Friday in office hours then pop in and see.

I strongly recommend paying these a visit. They are located in the town hall and I suggest having a look around and picking up a free guide pamphlet. They are free to see and are quite interesting.
Be aware that there is a limited amount on show and limited information to take in, so expect only a 10 minute visit.

Built in 1746, this renowned Catholic cathedral in Évora offers stunning city vistas from its tower. The Cathedral of Évora, which took over a century to complete, showcases an amalgamation of architectural styles including Romantic, Gothic, and Baroque. Noteworthy features on the frontage include two grand medieval towers and an impressive portal adorned with exquisite sculptures of apostles.
The price is 3.50euro for the tower and the cathedral (there’s no student ticket and only cash). The view is really nice on the roof but you need to climb some very steep stairs. I will recommend to visit this place and enjoy the view. Also inside the cathedral is also beautiful.

You have different tickets going from 3 to 5 euros depending on which part you wanna visit. I visited the cloister (lower and upper level), the cathedral, and the rooftop. It give nice views on the city but the cathedral has nothing really exceptional. I would still recommend to do it if you are visiting Evora.

View is amazing since you have a full view of Evora. Tickets were cheap. The stairs were too narrow. There's only one tower where you can use the stairs to go up and down. You won't be able to go upstairs while someone else is coming downstairs. There're many souvenirs machines where you insert money or pay by visa to get a coin where the cathedral is printed on it. I liked my silver coin a lot. I also liked that there's a passage that makes you feel like you're at Hogwarts

Loved it. HINTS-Give yourself time to see it all - they start turning off the lights in the Treasury 15-20 mins before closing. You are expected to be OUT by closing time. Also, there are many narrow stairs and some very steep spiral staircase. Keep in mind that people have to go up and down some of the same sections so it can get backed up waiting for slow people or just waiting for your turn.
Great views.

Cathedral is a very nice place to visit!! Of course you have to pay 4€ (student price) to get in put the view from the roof top totally worth it. The museum was not something special but the church and the court yard are beautiful!!

Great architecture. Amazing views. Religious art and relics on display in the treasury is not impressive to me, but it also speaks of the power of believing and the business that goes with it.

A visit to this cathedral is a must when visiting Evora. While the cathedral is nice, ir's not something extrordinary. Instead a visit to the roof is an adventure on itself as the winding stairs go up and diwn at the same tome, but can only acompany either of that. Wriggling to get through is the only option.
Atop thd view of the old city is great.
Second stop was the cloister where you also can ascend to that roof. This time it's oneway only. The view from this roof at the cathedral is amazing.

Must see in Evora! For 4.5 eur/person you get to see the tower/roof/terraces/cloister/church/museum - all impressive, you can spend at least 1h here. And the views from above are beautiful. I found it more interesting and complex to visit than the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos in Belem/Lisbon.

The largest medieval cathedral in Portugal.
You can visit the gothic cloister and climb to the terrace, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama over the entire city of Évora, since the Cathedral is located at its highest point.

Somewhat modest if compared with other cathedrals throughout Europe, it is, nonetheless, very interesting and worth a visit, with the bonus of offering great views around from its rooftop.
Jorge Bernardo — Google review
This cathedral is an impressive monument of religious architecture. It is the biggest medieval church in Portugal. It was built in the age of transition from romanic to gothic style, compleyely in stone. Additions during later centuries, in different style, gave it a unique appearence. It stands in a small hill, that is a short walk from the central Praca do Giraldo, through atmospheric old Evora building. It is recommend to climb the stairway and go to the roof from where you can admire the whole city. It is well worth the stenuous ascent and the ticket of the visit.

The Evora Roman Temple is a religious and archaeological site in Évora, Portugal that was built in honor of Augustus, the first Roman Emperor. The ruins date back to the 2nd or 3rd century AD and are among the best-preserved Roman monuments in Portugal. Some archaeologists believe it may have been dedicated to Julius Caesar.
Beautiful temple ruins in a gorgeous park. Could not recommend it more!

While it's very impressive to see the remains of this ancient temple still standing 2,000 years after it was built, there's not much to it. It's just this structure. Don't get me wrong, I love the town of Evora. It is adorable, but the temple alone is not that impressive.
Ken Weary — Google review
Very iconic but, in total honesty, not much is left of it. Can't match other Roman ruins of bigger dimension and better preserved. Still, a powerful landmark in a lovely ancient city.
Jorge Bernardo — Google review
Beautiful ruins of the Roman temple which are located close to the city centre and Evora Cathedral. There is a small outside cafe near to it if you would like to relax nearby.
What is missing? History and story behind this monument. There is a small board with information that it was built about 2,000 years ago and most probably was dedicated to the Roman goddess Diana. But these few details are not enough to submerge yourself more into this city thousands of years ago and feel it’s atmosphere. I think there could have been more information on how the city looked like back then, what was the life like, who were the citizens? Why the Cathedral was built so close to the Temple? Unfortunately, I stayed with too many unanswered questions (leaving me a bit annoyed and unsatisfied because I couldn’t find more information online 🤓)

The ruins are very beautiful and makes you think about our culture and heritage a lot. There's a park around it and also a little café which pairs up nicely, you can stop for a refreshing drink and enjoy the view. Nothing really that much to see since the ruins are pretty high and you can't get that close up, but overall a nice place for some pics.

Beautiful Roman ancient ruine in the middle of the Évora. The history of the monument is also interesting, if was used as a castle tower and later as a slaughter house. The current state of the ruine of the temple is nice. You can see the entrance to the altar. You cannot enter the temple.

The winery Monte da Ravasqueira is a beautiful place to visit with interesting wine-making and tour options. The antique carriages are a nice surprise, and the hosts are friendly and informative. The wine tasting room is beautiful, with a fireplace, hostess who provides delicious lunch, and lovely wines to taste. It's worth visiting if you're in the area!
Ines and Diogo in the Wine tasting shop are excellent guides.
We spent 90 minutes getting introduced to the winery and then tasting several excellent wines.
Then we spent 30 minutes in a very fun and engaging dialog about travel, including several areas of Portugal, Italy, France, parts of the U. S., etc. All delightful. Lovely people.

A wonderfully relaxed tour with old carriages and a vineyard finishing with a wine tasting. The lovely multilingual lady running the tour (whose name I missed unfortunately) was suitably informed on all aspects that I expressed curiosity for. She also recommended the correct restaurants in Arraiolos. I visited in February, so it was quiet and the vineyard itself had no leaves, but it was still very worthwhile.

This estate is a staggering 7,000 plus acres and has been owned by the same family since shorty after WW2. The family is one of the wealthiest in Portugal. This property was their summer estate where they groomed horses for a long time before the current generation decided to turn it into a winery. We arrived by car and found ample parking. We had a wonderful private tour of the estate. Our guide was knowledgeable and allowed us to not only explore the facility to be be educated into the process of turning grapes into wine. We walked from the tasting room to the fermenting facility which from a distance looked like old buildings but were in fact newer building made to look old. Inside we wondered along the gantries and looked down on the large stainless steel vats where the grapes are crushed and the wine starts its first fermenting in large stainless steel tanks. We then explored the storage room where a certain amount of wine destined for a vintage label are stored in oak barrels. We were allowed to have a peek into the bottling room where modern machinery fills and labels the bottles. The fields are labeled with Portuguese Ceramic tile signs that identify the type of grape grown there. Heading back to the tasting room we passed the private residence of the family which is still in use today. Along the way we popped into a building which forms the museum of antique carriages collected over the years by the original owner of the property. Carriages for the 1700 look as they did in the period. They have not been rebuild or reupholstered. The collection is very interesting even if your not into carriages. Just the array of the transportation of the pre-automobile era over the centuries is fascinating. We spent some time in front of a unique and rather large carriage that was once owned by the famous car designer Bugatti himself. From the museum we moved on to the wine tasting. The tasting comes with a fee depending on what you want to taste. In the end we discovered that the wine we liked is only $6 more at home in North America as the price the winery was charging. This was surprising and frankly, disappointing. One would expect the price to far less than the full retail half a world away. In the end we did not buy any wine. However, we decided to try a bottle of their champagne or Spumante as they call it because the can not use the Champagne name. We brought it home and look forward to opening it. The property also has a restaurant which requires a reservation in advance. If your in the area, its worth a tour.

Beautiful property and winery. Out-of-the-ordinary because of the collection of antique carriages that visitors can see on the guided tour. Beautiful wine tasting room, interesting tour of wine-making, delicious lunch – and wine – in yet another beautiful room (with a fireplace), hosted by smiling, friendly Carlos. The estate is beautiful — and impressive! We toured Monte da Ravasqueira in February, so the grapes weren’t growing yet. The vineyards stretch out in all directions and we were led through them to the processing plant, which itself was impressively large. Production wasn’t taking place since it was Sunday, but it was still interesting to see. We also visited the on-site carriage museum, with horse-drawn carriages dating back to the 18th Century. I never thought I’d need to see that, but am surprisingly glad I did! And, finally, we did a wine tasting of six of their excellent (and affordable) wines.

Interesting museum with friendly helpful staff. Ancient roman artifacts are very good but sometimes displayed rather dimly. The hunting weapons collection is superb but not to everyone's taste. The trophy displays not only include some mind-numbling examples of the worst form of the art; but also prove the damage that can be caused by over privileged royal families can do when let loose on African wildlife. If you're in the area well worth the entry fee not just for the collections on display, the excellent view from the ramparts but the fact that in 35 degrees it's deliciously cool within its heavy stone walls ;)

What a beautiful place to visit
Hugo Picciochi — Google review
I love castles in general and have visited a number of them in Portugal. I enjoyed Vila Viçosa. It appears to have been a very large castle at one time, in terms of area, judging by what seems to have been done with the space inside. There is a huge church with cemetery. There are also several small houses and a couple of narrow streets. I have seen cemeteries inside of castles, but not houses and streets.
What is a bit lamentable is that the castle inside the walls has gotten somewhat seedy, and some parts (such as stairs to the castle ramparts or walls are partly broken, although it seems it was repaired at one time [needs a lot of work now]). I still think the castle is a romantic place.
The Paço Ducal de Vila Viçosa, located in the town of Terreiro do Paco de Vila Vicosa, is a 16th century palace and museum with richly decorated rooms that showcase collections from different eras. The building has an interesting facade covered in marble from the region and contains features typical of civil and residential architecture as well as Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical and Qing Chinese porcelain.
The Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa was for many centuries the seat of the house of Braganza. The construction of the current palace began in 1501 and was expanded together with the rising importance of the family, as they grew closer connected to the Royal family of Portugal. During the invasion by Napoleon, the Royal family fled to Brazil and the palace was closed. The last extentions of the palace were done by the last King of Portugal, Don Carlos I. After the revolution of 1910 the palace was again abandoned, only to be opened to the public again in 1984 after restoration works. The interior of the palace is still with the original decorations and is lavishly decorated with Azulejos, frescos, tapesteries, furniture, paintings and porcelain. Although the guided visit is only possible in Portuguese, it do is a must if you visit the region. No photo of the interior are allowed.

The place is certainly beautiful...It has a lot of history...Tours are done in Portuguese...Staff are friendly...However after living 6 years in Portugal and visiting many historical places...I was let down by the tour itself...Too dark to enjoy the articles of history...There is no electricity for guest...but you have wired cameras and smoke detectors, no? There are many other places in Portugal to visit with Luz...I found the tour of Marble a good value and a better return on my investment...Resident Cowboy and supporter of the economy of Portugal since 2016...

Amazing place full of history and art . The visit is well worth the price but you might need to wait a bit so they can have a group between 10-20 people to start the visit.

This is an amazing way to see how the former Portuguese Royal Family lived... the Palace was their full time home before the Noble Family was promoted to Royal Family, several centuries back!
It then became their holiday home!
It is also notable the furniture and tapestries, as well as silk covered walls of the certain rooms, where the wealth of the Portug8ese Empire is reflected.
The tour guides in the Palace privide an excellent description of each room, its use, and some stories of its occupats, which were connected to said rooms, or certain furniture pieces!
It is a window into a world of Privilege, but certainly also helps us undrrstand the Portuguese Culture and Traditions of today, and the Spirit of this great People...
(May I add a political comment: unfortunately, the great Portuguese people have been VERY POORLY represented by its greedy politicians...! In those days, our Leaders kept our people and the interests of the country first!).

You can’t tour alone. We arrived at 12:20 am - hours it is open, but couldn’t go in because it is tour only. Next tour in 2 hours. When we asked where we could have lunch and wait, we got a shrug of the shoulders and a”find something yourself “ response.

We did not make a tour inside because we arrived late. However the exterior is outstanding with the marble finish. The place whole place looks amazing.

It was a grate Palace to be seen. Now they close most of the areas. The entrance is 7 euros but if you want to see the carriage extra 3 euros. I think is not good we go to a place is to see all. Before we pay one only ticket. From the 1st visit pass some years but these experience was bad. We cannot take any photos inside the Palace. Is time the foundation take care of the Palace should improve the experience of the visitors.

Pretty cool Palace, interesting history. Make sure you have a guide that can share the history with you. I wish you could take pictures inside, but you can not.
