Just a snack bar for Tapas but excellent immersion to Spanish culture , a must visit. Fast food Tapas that's the best way to describe it, Loud inside and hectic just Fab really. €4 gets you a beer and 2 small tapas , all the food was tasty and excellent value for money , quickly served like an express train. We enjoyed it and would go again. Not for a romantic meal by the way 😉 The Lemon 🍋 Chicken is a delicious house speciality and we also ordered a larger plate of mixed fried veg Yum enjoy.

It is so loud and crowded! The lemon ckn...barely has a lemon flavor. It was good, tho. The pic shows a creamy lemon sauce on top...that's what i wanted.

Amazingly authentic place. Great traditional atmosphere and the food is fabulous. A drink and two tapas..
Becki Thielen — Google review
Great tapas and great experience. Order a drink and you get a choice of two taps from the menu. At time of writing it was €3.20 for that. Bar staff spoke as much English as I spoke Spanish and while fast paced to serve the burgeoning numbers of locals in for lunch they were helpful. Standing room only and not the place to go if you want a leisurely quiet seat but very good food and beer at a very reasonable price.

This must-visit spot attracts both young and old locals alike.
Amazing food and wine and lovely staff! They seemed to enjoy themselves as much as the guests, so there's a great mood in this place!

We ended up here in the middle of a poor down and could not have landed anywhere better! Great GREAT food, such a cozy spot and the nicest people working there. We ordered the provoleta, the three empanadas and the tacos with pulled pork. Jummmmm! Also, the wine was great and the interior was a breath of fresh air with the cute paintings in the old school building. Definitely recommend!

Best Tapas I had in Spain! A bit on the pricey side, but they cook with food of high quality and it's definitely worth paying a few euros more.

Is the food good, yes. Is it over-priced, absolutely! Also there is no menu or price list. For anyone who wants a meal on a budget, I would not recommend this restaurant!

I gave one star because there’s no other choice ! First as an American visiting Spain , there’s no menu to choose from. their answer is they don’t always get the same fish which is nonsense !!! ! The waiter literally gives you 10 options lowest is about $20 after they put some old bread on the table without you asking for it so that they push you to get the food . Then they rush you while you’re eating they come take plates piece of bread over your head . Now let’s get into the food , you get the fish plain nothing extra with it , no veggies , no salad and no sauce . Calamari was so oily ! For $50 you can definitely enjoy better places . Save yourself your time and your money because it’s not worth it ! I hope most of you reads this review . Don’t let them fool you they charge $2 a head which means whether you like it or not you give them tips without you agreeing to it ! I don’t recommend !!! It’s a shame

This place is a rip off avoid at all costs. They dont speak English except for the owner (few words). There is no menu, you only choose the type of fish and they bring many plates without showing the price or explaining the type of fish. We ended up paying more than 50 euros for things we did not order. Please avoid this place. There are better options nearby!

A spot you definitely shouldn't miss if you're around these parts! Like, actually delicious food and we didn't wait much either. All of the staff was super sweet and even though the seafood is absolutely fantastic I would say the dessert was life changing, really really recommend it, leave an empty spot in your belly for it.

The owner served use and won't let us choose and just brought the most Amazing Fish dishes.

Freshest, most flavourful fish served quickly and professionally. Close to Playa Rinconcillo and easy parking
Victoria Jackson — Google review
Friendly staff and tasty food. They offer a catch of the day, so it guarantees you fresh fish, however no consistent menu. Be prepared to pay a bit more, so if you’re looking for a budget meal this is not the place for you.

Restaurant
The restaurant Restaurante la Carbonería in Algeciras was the first choice for two sisters who arrived early and were warmly greeted by Juan. As they enjoyed their time there, they indulged in pleasant conversation and wine while waiting for their meal. The restaurant's intimate atmosphere allowed them to have a unique experience as the only tourists surrounded by locals. Restaurante la Carbonería may be small, but its delicious tapas and exceptional service made it a memorable dining destination.
Amazing tapas for lunch. It was all delightful and delicious. Staff friendly and accommodating.

Not bad for my first meal experience in Spain.... I tried the smothered eggs and very much enjoyed the meal. Our own difficulties in explaining what we wanted to the server were resolved with her help. She found us a very passable red wine so we had another glass. I forgot to take a photo of my food until after I had already eaten a few bites..... SORRY! But a good experience overall!
Samuel Trapp — Google review
We arrived at the restaurant very early and so my 2 sisters and I were the first guests. Juan greeted us with brimming smile. The restaurant was not busy yet so his attention was focused on us. We had so much fun exchanging jokes while sipping our wine. We were served with some bread and olives first while waiting for the kitchen to be ready. Like I said, we arrived very early. Anyway, Algeciras is not your typical tourist place. So we were the only tourists at that time, and being with the local guests was an amazing experience. Restaurant la Carboneria is small but serving delish foods. Their tapas were one of a kind, the tenderloin we ordered was excellent. Staff are super friendly and attentive. I recommend you to dine at Restaurant la Carboneria when you happen to visit Algeciras.

Wide range of tapas (ignore English menu which does not have most of info) which was tasty. House red was great. Great value for money.

Varied choice (not only meat as you could imply from the name). Nice and tasty tapas/dishes. Relaxed and cool atmosphere just spoiled by a rather pushy barman/waiter.

I ordered beef medium done and it was delivered on my plate 1.5 hrs. later still alive muuuuu. Maybe that was misunderstanding but it was first and last time for me here.
