Pub
Station Sutton Coldfield is a traditional establishment that stands out for its unique and quirky elements. This classic pub offers an array of original events, such as comedy nights and live music, which add to its distinctive charm. Situated in the north of Birmingham, this area is renowned for its abundance of second-hand shops where bargains can be found.
Really nice pub, I’d highly recommend this place. There was lots of live music and the food was amazing

Decent local pub next to train stop. Great for sport. Food wasn’t awesome but filled a hole and good enough, and good value with the drink deal.

We had bottomless brunch here after new year and it was fantastic value! Service was very attentive and the food was delicious, big portions also. You could level up your drinks for an extra £5 which was worth out of you like cocktails or spirits. Staff are lovely, the pub is what a pub should look like and the food is amazing. Fantastic value, highly recommended. Thank you team for looking after us so well 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Lovely little pub, wasn't too busy so you could still get a seat. Outside seating as well if you prefer. Friendly staff. Would definitely go again

I thought i would pop in The Station as last year summer I had a nice bit of lunch and a pint. I entered The Station and was greeted by a young women , I asked if there were doing lunch as it was just gone 12 , she replied yes . I then looked for a menu and decided on what I was going to choose .The lunch offer was £9 but I could not see the drink I wanted on the list of drinks with my order, i asked the young women if the mango cider i wanted was part of the £9 lunch offer? she replied yes after deciding what to choose with for lunch i was then charged £15 ... I then asked why this was , the women told me that the drink i ordered in actual fact was not part of the offer. I was a bit annoyed not being told this but thought leave it ,but really £6 difference because the drink was not on the menu !! I then went to a table as the barmaid said she would bring my drink over, during this time the barmaid spilt some of the drink on my table, which went on another chair and floor , i didn't mind this but I thought she would have come back and wipe the table and chair away. After this another women came to my table with cutlery after putting the cutlery down it only came to me how filthy the table was , I didn't say nothing at the time as i thought the women may come back and wipe the table before my meal, unfortunately this did not happen and I looked around to for a more cleaner table but people were starting to come in for I assume lunches as well I waited about 15 minutes for my meal which looked ok but the fries were over cooked, re cooked or just a cheap form of frie served. Really disappointed in not only the poor service i received especially with last years visit being positive experience.

Recently moved to Sutton Coldfield, stumbled across this venue right next to the station. Amazing pub for sports and has a DJ on the weekends. The staff are super friendly here, so I will definitely be coming back!

Visited lunchtime. Food was really good, shame about the hot drinks. The coffee machine had not long been turned on so couldn't get a coffee when we arrived. Managed to order coffee with the meal but they had run out of milk by the time we wanted to order another coffee about an hour or so later so only one of us could have a rather muddy cup of coffee. A bit disappointing to say the least as we both enjoyed our food.

Limited menu with Good Food, at a fair price, including Chicken Wings & Vegan Cauliflower Wings, which are excellent. Has live entertainment inside, & has a stage outside at the back. Wednesday nights has live entertainment, & Andy Bennett formerly of Ocean Colour Scene performs alternate Wednesday nights. Well worth a visit to watch Andy Bennett & a Bucket of Wings.

We had the best time ever today! Thank you so much for making our day special! The food was unreal and I couldn’t eat it all I had a pizza and it was better than dominoes! And the waitress that was looking after us Niamh asked me if I wanted to take the rest of it home and she arranged that! She was so attentive to us and to the other people that were there to experience their day. We will definitely be coming back soon and Niamh needs to be recognised for her outstanding service! Thank you again

Been Coming to the station every week for at least 15 year now! the selection of beers and spirits are great especially the hazy Jane guava (do not get rid!) and the staff are always friendly especially Joel! Definitely my favourite Sutton pub

Pretty dope venue not gonna lie. Like, it may be pricey but you're paying for quality. And when it comes to service, forget about it! This whole team absolutely smashes it. They look after all their customers with efficiency, ease and with a smile. Their speed of service is unmatched in this industry. The staff at The Station re-define the pub and hospitality experience and set the bar while they're at it. The food looks good, tastes good and I should know because I eat a lot of it. The atmosphere is chill. Could do with a face lift but it yields an authentic and old timey charm that will do for now, until the inevitable and exciting changes it could make. In summary: The Station Pub is the best venue in Sutton Coldfield. Objectively. The staff? Best team in Birmingham. Objectively. Tom should be proud.

The burgers were good, however the mac and cheese side was outrageous, they charged me £4 pounds for no more than 3 scoops of mac and cheese.

The Coffin Works museum in Birmingham is a fascinating place that explores the history and process of creating final resting places. You'll learn about the famous Newman Brothers, who were the last coffin makers to work from here. You can also see examples of their work, as well as explore the factory itself.
"they don't care how much you know until they know how much you care" Chris is an outstanding guide. In depth knowledge of the history of coffin making and the environmental factors which changed funerals from the World Wars to then increasing cremations, and the introduction of plastics instead of brass fittings. His emphasis was to tell the stories of the people who worked there, and how he brought them to life was fantastic. He also was considerate of the two young children in the group and at the conclusion of the tour offered them sweets from the gift shop, which after they left I saw him pay out of his own pocket so the museum received all the money. There isn't much in way of many coffins at the museum, it's more focused on the brass fittings production and clothing involved in shrouds for the deceased bodies. Constructive criticism would be the showing of photos from the guides book was too quick when shown to the group to focus on the photo. Would highly recommend anyone to spend 90mins here with the tour itself lasting just over an hour. Really interesting to know the company Newman Brothers were involved for the funerals of Winston Churchill and the Monarchy.

I have wanted to visit for a while so was excited to finally visit. The gift shop is really cute and has nice items to buy. I was worried that we would be in and out of the museum in ten minutes as it didn't look very big. However, there are room guides in every room and they are so knowledgeable and know so much. It was truly fascinating and I learned so much. The volunteers really make it special and we had Mark, Adam, Patricia and Cornelius who were brilliant. I definitely recommend a visit. It cost £8 and it was completely worth it. We ended up being in there for over two hours. Thank you for making such a wonderful experience.

Every single staff member/ volunteer was so animated and passionate about the museum and even the industry. It was lovely to talk to people who share similar views on death and knowledge of the industry. The building also looked so beautiful on the sunny day.

I definitely need to show my respect to Joyce and Chirs. To be a respected woman, Joyce saved the building and memories to build this museum. And Chirs, our fantastic guide today, made the experience of museum visiting come to an unexpected memory. Even though I know nothing about the British and Birmingham history, he helped me travel back—so much thanks.

I totally enjoyed it learning about this industry of Newman's brothers and bought their guide book. They sell the finishing for the coffin but it is Not a museum for coffin. Love that they were able to preserve all the machinery and some still working till this day. I didnt know much about this industry and it have widen my knowledge. It is quite a small place (with roughly 5-6 areas) hence wont take long to tour around.

Absolutely wonderful place to visit. It was really interesting and the tour was really fun. The guy who took us around, Billy, really knew his stuff and made it hugely enjoyable. I found it fascinating and would highly recommend people check it out! I did have to wait for the tour, but this was my fault as I didn't check when they ran, but it was fine as I just grabbed a cuppa at their lovely little cafe.

Attended the candlelit tour last night, led by the wonderful Billy Connolly. It was absolutely fascinating, and gave us a real insight into the history of the ‘City of 1000 Trades’ as well as into the cultural history around the rites and rituals of death and dying. Highly recommended!

A really interesting insight into the coffin making business as well as a snapshot into life as a worker from the 1800s to when the factory closed in the 1990s. Fascinating place which is well worth visiting

A great heritage spot in central Birmingham. Our tour guide both shared the machinery and trade of the coffin works. But much more so, the social histories of those who worked there over it's 100 years of business. Top notch! If you enjoy the Birmingham Back to Backs, this is a must.

Thanks to the Heritage week I joined a 30min tour at the Coffin Works. The staff was warm and welcoming. The tour guide took us through the history of the building and showed us machines. Great heritage of Birmingham although I am not sure I would recommend it to someone not into the topic/Birmingham history

I finally visited The Coffin Works after years of intending to, drawn in by its consistently excellent online reviews. Despite having worked next door years ago, I never found the time until now - a particularly important occasion as I visited on a loved one's death anniversary. The receptionist (whose name I didn't get - sorry!) warmly welcomed me, guiding me to the courtyard where I met Pat. We shared a heartfelt conversation about grief and loss, and she shared her experiences of volunteering at the museum. Later, I joined Mark and another volunteer for a guided tour. Mark's charisma and engaging storytelling kept me captivated throughout, making what could have been a morbid and even squeamish tour incredibly fun and enjoyable. I'm eager to return with friends to explore the various events and workshops taking place at The Coffin Works, and to simply relax in the beautifully preserved courtyard. A highlight was visiting the shroud room - a time capsule preserving the tools and artifacts of the past, including handwritten tea-run lists from the women who worked there. Mark's anecdote about a visitor recognising herself in an old photo underscored the relevance of this history to us today. It's vital to support and preserve such places, ensuring the rich history of West Midlands' working people endures. A huge thanks to the entire staff team for their warmth and kindness.

Fantastic tour! My friends and family laughed when I told them I had booked this but it was worth the visit. The moment we stepped in the door, the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the topic. The items/equipment in the museum have been preserved fantastically. I would highly recommend to any visitors to Birmingham and to the staff: keep up the great work!

What a marvellous place, which perfectly captures exactly what a museum should be - welcoming, educational, and truly engrossing. It was amazing to see the workshops and offices so beautifully preserved, like real time capsules. All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming, and clearly take great pride in their work. Extra special thanks to Cornelius who demonstrated the drop stamp with incredible skill - I would have happily listened to him talk about the history of the workshop all day. Thank you so much for such a lovely afternoon. I am already planning my next visit!

The absolute highlight of my trip to Birmingham!!! The staff were spectacular and so informative about the coffin making process and I am so glad i decided to come and see this!! I would highly recommend the coffin works to anyone visiting Birmingham, and make sure to do the guided tour for the full experience!! Thanks for a great experience and I couldn't have asked for a better excursion to go on for my birthday!!

We had a wonderful guided tour of the Newman Brother’s legacy from Billy. We were shown the intricacies of the Newman Company’s craftsmen and the hardship endured by workers who were paid by the piece. With the occasional pun and playful questionnaire, Billy kept the crowd entertained throughout the course of the tour. If you’re visiting Birmingham and want to experience its cultural history, this place should definitely be on your list!

The Pen Museum is an interesting place that allows visitors to experience the legacy of Birminghams steel pen trade and learn about traditional methods of writing with pens. The museum contains an extensive collection of pens, machinery, and objects related to the city's pen production. It is also interesting to learn about the history of the thousands of workers who were employed in the industry, many of whom were women.
We visited the Pen Museum today and we loved it! It's a small museum but it has something for everyone. It is especially good if you have an interest in history. There are 3 rooms. The first one has a large collection of pens, pen nibs and other related objects. There are also lots and lots of interesting facts related to the history of pen making. They have a little quiz to complete if you are interested. In the second room you have the opportunity to watch a short video about the history of pens and then you can even have a go at making a pen nib yourself using a variety of machines! The third room has a few typewriters and a small table with some activities for children. You can have a go at calligraphy or typewriting if you want. The volunteers are all very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming so I hope you enjoy the museum as much as we did!

It's a great use of an afternoon, the staff are knowledgeable and can answer questions. You can go round at your own pace. It's interesting, you get to experience making your own nib following the process with the press equipment used in the past. It has a nice little gift shop

10 stars out of 5! As someone who admires calligrapher, I have been fond of pen, ink, quill, parchment, letter paper, envelopes, wax, seals and anything related to writing since I was a child. Before coming to Birmingham this time, I was looking forward to this place the most. The museum was built across the street from a pen factory whose early pens were sold to Disney. The first room is devoted to art made with nibs, with magnifying glasses for a closer look at the nibs; The second room is not only for displaying more nibs, pens, inks, pens cases, stamps, ink bottles etc, but also to introduce the making of the nib. The guide will take the visitors to operate the equipments for making the nib. Although you can't use it without burning the nib yourself, they will give you a free fine nib. The third room displays not only nibs, but also pen holders, ink containers, nib cases, and old typewriters which allows you to type. In addition, the museum also has calligraphy classes, which can be booked online. Love this museum, definitely one of the most unique and interesting I've seen in Birmingham.

So interesting to learn more about Birmingham's history, and what a massive contribution to pens worldwide! Fabulous seeing the range of nibs and really enjoyed making our own on original machines, courtesy of Larry. Would recommend a visit!

This was a really fun place to visit, I love that the place is run by volunteers, you can really see the passion. The first room has a lot of great info, a timeline and some really impressive visuals made up of different nibs. You can also get stuck in trying your hand at calligraphy using a whole host of different nibs. The second room had an introduction via a ten minute video, with various people talking about the Birmingham pen nib industry (including some lovely old women who used to work in them, one was particularly endearing to watch) After that, one of the guys showed us step by step how to make a nib, we each got to try it ourselves and ended up with a nib each that we created (in fact, we ended up with three! One we made, one that we just did the final cut on because ours hadn't gone through the hardening process like they need to, and a third because they usually have some hardened ones for people to cut and keep, so instead we got a totally different - fully useable - one for free as well!) In this room there were also loads of fun things to look at, including various different ink wells and bottles. The last room is tucked off to the side, we got shown through and were greeted by the local historian volunteer. He talked us through various things, going off on interesting tangents about other historical Brummies of importance in the process. You could really tell he loved what he did. That's the only downside though, he talked about a bunch of things then said 'ok, now I'll show you the exit' rather than giving us time to actually explore that room. It wasn't until I got home and looked at the map that I realised we completely missed out the typewriter and graphology section (the latter I think would have been really interesting) Now, maybe these two sections weren't open - I do know the site said some things, like the nib process, need specialists in, so when they aren't there you can't do them. But we didn't even get to have a proper look in the cabinets because he stood in front of each when he explained stuff to us so a bunch of it was blocked from view. So all in all a great, niche place to visit if you're interested in pens, calligraphy or even steelworks, but maybe the enthusiastic historian - as great as his insight was - should remember to let the visitors experience the room after he's finished his talk. I grabbed a postcard and nib in the gift shop, both were reasonably priced
Carrie-Anne — Google review
This museum is a pleasant surprise. Located in the Jewellery Quarter it is easy to access. The visit begins in a room that is at the entrance where it is possible to read about the history of pens, since the times when there were hundreds of factories that employed women, men and children. Children operated the machines that required less force and danger. The machines responsible for the different stages of the manufacturing process were operated by women and men. Being a repetitive job was dangerous and they could loss fingers, being burned and many others and other situations. In room 2 you can see these machines and see how they work and watch a video and in room 3 the largest of them all you can see different types of nib and try on your penmanship. Visit and you will see that it is very interesting and you can purchase products at the entrance for your own use or offer.

A truly fascinating, informative museum that recognises the importance that Birmingham played, not only the national, but international stage as a manufacturer of pens. Loved the level of information and interaction including manufacturing our own pen nib. The volunteer team are a true credit to the museum. A must visit in Birmingham.

A small museum that opens you up to the life of Birmingham and its industrial production. There are only 3 rooms but I spent two hours in it because it was so interesting! Along the way, you can also create a tip from start to finish with time machines. A must-experience if you are in Birmingham I recommend.

This museum was so much fun! You can make a pen using the equipment there, have a go at calligraphy and use a type writer. There are several outbuildings to see all things pen related. The gift shop has some cheap calligraphy pens and ink. A great place to visit if you have spare time in Birmingham!

A very informative little museum on part of the industrial heritage of Birmingham. The intricacy of the tools to make some of the most beautiful nibs is astounding, when you consider they were all handmade. You even get to make your own nib to bring away. Very reasonably priced, and you get a voucher for 10% off at the pub across the road.

A real gem of a museum, located in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. A wonderful insight into how Birmingham successfully made three quarters of the world’s nib pens. Situated within a former pen factory, we got a hands on experience on how the nibs were manufactured and the tough working conditions of the mainly female workforce. The volunteer staff are absolutely brilliant and we enjoyed having a go at calligraphy and graphology as well. All in all an amazing find, and can’t recommend highly enough that you visit.

Great park clean and tidy . Gets very busy of a weekend and lots of cars . People come with gazebos and chairs and have big get togethers. Lots to do for kids too . £4.50 for parking . The only thing they could do with is more rangers to monitor and enforce rules as there were 2 lots of people having disposable BBQs on the floor scorching grass. No respect for the park or rules . Overall it's a friendly fun day out and plenty of activities to do such as fishing bike riding . Playgrounds . Each the boats feed the ducks .

Acres of water and woodland with water sports including sailing, jet ski, model boating, fishing and wildlife. There is an extensive miniature railway with stations. A cafe near the information centre seems to be open all year. Toilets available and outdoor play areas including an adventure type complex. Fitness and bicycle trails and good coverage of the park with you are here maps. Trails are waymarked throughout the park. Kingsbury Village is accessible via a footbridge over the River Tame and the Kingsbury Village Cafe serves a great value all day breakfast and has a menu with alternative choices.

Had a lovely walk around Kingsbury Water Park, first time visiting. It was clean, no rubbish anywhere, most people that passed said hello which I found lovely, plenty of dog walkers - majority of the dogs on leads and those that weren't on lead were very close to their owners. Beautiful and scenic, with some beautiful wildlife on the lake. Came across the bike hire shop which also sells used bikes at a heavily discounted price. There is a children's park area and a train (not open at time of visiting) I didn't visit it but did see people with hot drinks. I can imagine it's busy here in the height of the season, plenty of open space and picnic areas. There is plenty of parking spaces with a set fee of £3.40 - out of season fee.

Great place to fish and walk. Off season parking £3. Very reasonable with plenty of parking areas. Unfortunately the miniature train wasn't running. Seems very popular with the locals.

Lovely time at Kingsbury despite the rain. We took the train (a half journey) and walked back. Love the greenery and wandering around the woody part of the park. The train workers appear to be very very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do which made the experience all the more enjoyable. Would definitely ride the train again.
Keisha Burton — Google review
I would highly recommend the miniature train ride. Only £3 per person, approximately 10 minutes and great fun. In total contrast the cafe can't cope on a busy day. At least 30 minute wait and then not worth waiting for. We gave up and came home. Take your own food and plan a whole day (picnic etc). There's a play park and rides for children.

Lots of wildlife to see. Bit muddy when we went but it was late September. The dog loved the walk around the lakes. A beautiful Autumnal day. Had coffee and bacon butties from the cafe before we left for home.

Great place for a day out, and it's definitely busier over the weekend. £4.95 all-day parking, however, as we've been there only half day gave away our ticket on the way out. Picking tables, areas to hide in the shadow, and camp-van spaces. The toilets are not very clear nor the changing babies unit. The mini railway was an excellent experience (especially for the little one) -£2.5/ ticket (under 2 goes free). Overall recommended 👌

Wonderful atmosphere. Quality well cooked meal. We had the fish cooked to perfection

During our work team dinner at this restaurant, we were impressed by the beautiful setting and decor, though the food did not quite match up to the ambiance. Our server was pleasant and pointed out the daily specials, but we opted for other menu items instead. Unfortunately, there was a mix-up with our orders; my colleague's vegetarian pizza came with ham, and my ham pizza was vegetarian. When we pointed this out, it seemed they dashed the ham on top of my pizza and on my colleague’s one they removed the ham, they didn’t prepare fresh ones, as the corrected pizzas returned suspiciously quickly. Additionally, as an Italian, I found the use of cheddar cheese on pizza rather unconventional. Overall, the experience was decent the food didn’t take long to come.

It was nearly a 5 star experience. Great service, great place, excellent food But £10 for 4 glasses of blackcurrant cordial is effing daylight robbery. So that was their tip wiped out. Perfect other than that!

Service is good, food is nice and it came pretty quick. Everything was fresh. Very nice deco inside especially with the pasta table all looking fancy.

Good food and we all had a lovely evening. Service was adequate but they were busy so not overly attentive. However when we came to settle the bill they overlooked the deposit that was paid and when reminded of this fact we were made to feel that this was our fault? Came away with misgivings about their booking process! This is likely to affect any return visit.

2nd time here, and the staff remembered us and even our specific request for green chillies the first time we visited. 1st time we visited we had their pizza, which was good. But this time we ordered of their main food selection of pasta and chicken and it was 👌 I'd say it was better than their pizza. Would definitely recommend and we will be going back again Big portions and you get your monies worth of food

One of our favourite restaurant's to eat, every body that works there go out of their way to make sure you have a fantastic time, the service is outstanding, the food is possibly the best in the area at affordable prices! Never disappoints...

We popped in spontaneously and although the restaurant was full with a vibrant atmosphere we were kindly offered to wait at the bar for a table downstairs but opted to sit outside in the covered area where lovely soft blankets are supplied. We skipped straight to mains and ordered bread and olives while we waited, olives arrived, no bread. Food was really quick, hot and delicious, well flavoured and good portions. We had pizza, garlic bread, fries, and a couple of pasta dishes, everyone enjoyed the food, we opted for a couple of desserts, profiteroles and crespele which were equally delicious. Can we discuss the fact that they bring drinks that haven't been ordered? I have mentioned it to two people since my visit and both said it happened to them too which makes me question integrity. Reading the reviews I agree with the comments about waiting staff being quite pushy with specials and starters. Although the staff all seem lovely and charming I do believe it is a way to upsell as bringing another round of drinks it's a bit awkward to refuse them & recommending the special and not knowing the price until you get the bill (overpriced in my opinion) is just not what I expect. I do feel for the industry with the after effects of covid but I feel these strategies highlighted by lots of reviewers is not ethical especially in the current climate, some people may be on a budget, maybe a set menu would be a great idea?

Have lost count, how many times, I’ve dined, at Pizza By Goli, Sutton Coldfield… Started eating here, back in 2000 & in October 2003, brought a lovely Italian Senorina here, on our first date, hoping to impress her… Something must have worked, because, 20 years later, we’re still together & still dining here… Had a really nice meal here, in October (for the 20th Anniversary of our ‘First Date’) and have had 2 lovely meals, here this week; just before Christmas ❤️❤️❤️ & they make the best ‘Garlic Bread!’

What a lovely place to eat. We went on a Friday evening and I'm glad we booked as it was busy at 6.30pm. I had the lasagna and garlic bread with cheese which was the size of a pizza so definitely for sharing. The food was amazing. I've never had lasagna like it, it was delicious. The restaurant itself is very welcoming and the staff were courteous and friendly. Will definitely go again

Visited last night and despite our party turning up 30mins late still squeezed us in. I believe another table for 2 moved in order for this to happen, huge thanks to them and the staff. The food and service was exceptional why the meatballs aren’t on the regular menu I don’t know, heavenly and the chocolate heart dessert (valentines special) was to die for. Keep doing what you’re doing Goli’s amazing!

20/04/24 - Our family of 13 gathered to celebrate our lovely Matriach's 85th birthday. All our meals were served quickly with smiles and politeness by the waitresses (except for one waiter who was a lil grumpy). The food was well cooked and very very nice indeed. A happy and cheerful atmosphere 😊 Thank you Goli

Went for a birthday meal at 6.00pm on a Saturday and hugely regret choosing here and would not recommend at all. The whole restaurant was absolute chaos. They have packed far too many tables/chairs in there which seems greedy and ruins any authentic or relaxed environment. The restaurant was so noisy I couldn’t even hear relatives at the other end of the 6 person table. You basically had other parties elbows on your table. They had tucked a table right behind my chair so I couldn’t move in and out and I am 5 months pregnant which they could see. To get to the toilet you have to maneuver around a ridiculous and unsafe minimal space. At one point staff were lifting chairs over our heads and table to rearrange another table, it was absolutely ridiculous with no thought whatsoever for our dining experience. Staff couldn’t even reach the table properly to put food down and were asking us to take it out of their hands. Whilst there seemed to be an endless amount of staff working, they were all incredibly flustered and rushed each service. Food was average (too much oil on everything), didn’t order dessert as we wanted to leave as soon as possible. Went home with a headache and will not be returning. I would suggest saving money by not having so many unnecessary staff on at once to reduce the number of tables, to ensure guests can enjoy what a traditional ‘going out for a family meal’ experience should be.

They also provide a mezze menu, which presents customers with a choice of 21 distinct small plate selections. Very nice Greek restaurant with big sized portions. Would have given this place a 5 star but one of the servers was a bit moody whenever we asked for anything. Other than that I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Attended here for a Christmas meal on the 23rd December 2021 the staff were friendly and polite. We ordered a meze feast which contained a variety dishes the pork skewers came out uncooked they were raw. After making the waitress aware they offered to reheat the pork but by this time we were really put off eating anything else and we did ask for some more bread instead to which we were told we would be additionally charged. When desserts came out we were asked if we wanted to take them home with us instead of eating in the restaurant it felt like we were being pushed out. They offered no discount or complimentary dishes and paid full price for a meal we didnt eat i feel really sad i had this experience after reading all the good reviews

This was my first visit to this particular restaurant. I quite like the restaurants within Sutton Coldfield but I absolutely will not be returning here. The positives: The initial member of staff who served us was really lovely, an asset to the restaurant, nice atmosphere and prawn starter was nice. The rest: Waiting on starters. We had to wait for pitta bread to come out because they were planning on bringing it out at the same time as the cooked starter. I had to suggest to just bring the pitta bread out as we been had been waiting a long time. It then took a very long time for our mains to come out. Our mains were not good, and we tried to give it ago but both of us barely touched it. It had taken so long to come out, the last thing we wanted to do was immediately complain only then to just be further waiting for new dishes. At the end, I had said everything else had been great bar the mains and the owner of the restaurant refused to take this into account and revise the bill. Why? ‘It’s policy to change your meal when you’re initially asked how the food is’ make this policy clear from the start. Also we were asked how the food was quite early on, at bare minimum, I had to give my main a go especially as it took so long to come out but in the end I left a plate full of food. Where is the policy for late food by the way? I told two staff members and literally did nothing about it. Only the third staff member acknowledged this. I am absolutely all for championing great service and great food but it wasn’t and was dealt with terribly. Unfortunately, won’t be returning and do not recommend.

Nice atmosphere, and beautiful interior and decor. However we just sat at our table for what felt like forever and never got served so we just left. The restaurant only had 5,6 tables of folk and only 1 set of folk eating so was a bit strange. Maybe we'll get better service next time!!

A wonderful place. There is a great atmosphere inside and it is very nicely decorated. The food is fantastic! Their menu states how much effort they put into sourcing their ingredients and I feel it really comes through in how good the food is. Don’t miss out!

Pub
Brewhouse & Kitchen - Sutton Coldfield is a unique and quirky independent pub in the West Midlands. It stands out from other pubs by combining beer brewing with delicious dining options. They offer a variety of global dishes that are expertly paired with their own house-brewed beers. With several local venues to choose from, including Lichfield, customers can enjoy a distinctive and memorable dining experience.
Great micro brewery located in Sutton Coldfield. Wide range of beers available and pub also serves great food. We recently tried the Sunday lunch menu which was great value for money. Churros were very very tasty 😋😋😋

Bit of a let down. Searched this place out after looking for somewhere to eat yesterday. First impression is great, beautiful building and an actual in-house brewery. Decent selection of beers and wines, the menu looks really good. Now the downside, if you order from the app or the staff, the wait for drinks is painfully slow! I actually asked if they are short staffed and the girl said no! I understand it’s tricky to staff a Saturday afternoon but long waits for drinks isn’t acceptable. The food is ok, was hoping for much more, but sadly not, pork belly was overdone, crab cakes the crab had run off! The ipa steamed chicken had a nice skin but the sauce was lacking! The steak 🥩 was probably the best of everything, nicely seasoned and tasty. Staffing issues are a big issue for me

We booked for my sons birthday. We booked an early slot as we had young children with us. Children's menu OK & their food arrived first (always good). One fish dish was not cooked properly, but this was rectified very quickly & nicely. It was very quiet when we were there, but atmosphere was ok. Service a little slow at times, but at the same time, we never felt rushed. All in all a very nice meal.

Great place 1st time there. Popped in while passing for a beer or two. Tom was alone behind the bar. He greeted us very politely and was courteous. He explained what beers they make & what is what. We were guided by him in our choices & he was bang on. Tom was pleasant, polite and most helpful. We had no intentions of dinning but did share a Key lime pie that was to die for. The menu was not just pizza & burgers there are a lot of great healthier choices too all reasonably priced. The outside is amazing. Will we go again? YES!!! Only negative we found was there are no litter bins in the garden.

We held a team event here and from the moment we entered everyone had a blast. Started with beer tasting thanks Maddie -until we all found our favourite. Got a selection of the small plate starters to share two meat two veggie and two seafood and wish we ordered more - everything was too delicious. After a lot of laughter and banter with our server Lexy (she really looked after us) we ordered our mains - and wow super delicious. After a few more craft beers we said goodnight to the lovely Lexy and my super contented team headed home. Wonderful place to meet eat and party.

My very first stop in Sutton ever! Dan the day bartender was absolutely amazing. Very honest with his description of the food as well as the recommendations. Came here last night for a birthday meal with my family. We were early so my partner and I sat in the bar, which was really lovely. About 30 minutes later we went through to the dining area, we were the only table sat in there, the last table before us just leaving. When my family arrived, we eventually got our orders taken about 20 minutes later, we also ordered drinks I ordered a sour beer I'd previously brought twice at the bar on the same day, the waitress looked at me like I had two heads, when she came back with my families drinks she said "the bar didn't know what you were on about so do you want to choose something else?" I chose something else and she went to get it, she then came back about 10 minutes later proclaiming she had since found the one I originally asked for, it was in a bottle (it wasn't, it was in a can) the beer wasn't the same as what I'd had before, it wasn't too my taste so I simply didn't drink it. I'd of rather she had brought what I asked for the second time around. As before mentioned, we were the only table in the dining area, it was around 6:30, the service was absolutely diabolical. The waitress was nowhere to be seen for the majority of the time, I'd of rather they asked us to dine in the bar area if we would of gotten better service or this suited them better. She also continually made jokes about her machine having "brain damage" which was pretty poor taste. Her attitude all round generally wasn't great. When asked questions mostly met with a shrug and a pull of the face. The food was okay, but the potatoes tasted quite stale and they were a little cold. My partner and I have visited you a number of times and always had a positive experience but the last one was just awful. I used to be a manager of an independent restaurant and I would be appalled if any of my colleagues there acted that way towards customers. All round just generally poor customer service which is a real shame. I would be understanding if it were busy, but it wasn't even in the bar. I must say though the gent that served us in the bar area was really friendly and helpful.

The food was delicious, we had burgers, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment for me personally (as a wheelchair user) was the Disabled Toilet, it is way too small and the door too narrow, the handle on the inside of the door also restricts the width of the doorway once open. Shame because there is an accessible ramp and disabled car park space at the front of the building but loo needs some changes please.

We were excited to visit the Brewhouse and Kitchen for the first time having read such good reviews. We decided to book for a very late lunch at 4pm due to one family member’s travel plans and to take advantage of the Sunday to Thursday late afternoon special offer of glasses of wine for £4.50. At that time of day the restaurant was quiet but we stood by the reception area to be seated for some time before we were attended to. Service was slow and we were informed that the drinks special was not available on Sundays, only Monday to Thursday. We didn’t argue at the time but when I checked later, the advert clearly states Sun-Thurs from 4pm. Another server took over and service did improve. Everybody had a different meal but we all agreed that they were all very average except for the roast beef which was quite good. Very disappointing and we definitely won’t be returning.

Nice outlet for Brewhouse & Kitchen. Served by friendly chatty staff and the real ale / cider I tried was good. Furnished in the B&K style (of course !) with the brewery kit on the right as you enter. Not sure if brewery in operation at time of writing - sometimes ales shared between sites. Nice to chat to a couple of regulars (pictured) we compared notes on the B&K Gloucester Docks ... and other Gloucester pubs ...

Had a lovely dinner last night at Romantica. It's always worth spending a little more for good quality food. While they did have a few fabulous specials on, I decided to go with the lamb chops instead. There are no side dishes with the main meal, one is required to order each item separately. I decided on mushrooms and dauphinoise. The dessert menu looked amazing, but due to the large portions, even though I only ate half, there wasn't any space for a morsel of dessert. I would have preferred a smaller portion. I know some restaurants offer a lady's portion, but in today's society that may no longer be politically correct, however true. The glass of Merlot wasn't a great choice, not for my palate. The staff were friendly and attentive, and children were made to feel welcome. A pleasant dinner.

Perfect spot! For a summers evening or winters… beautiful outdoor terrace area overlooking the lake, with throws and heaters to keep you toasty on colder nights. Food was limited in the terraced area to more ‘boujee pub style’, unfortunately they don’t do Sunday dinners on the terrace area which we didnt understand as we were most looking forward to that? Service was good, table wasn’t cleaned when we arrived but they were busy. Won’t stop us from coming back! Looking forward to a summers evening here! 🌞

Just popped in for drinks during a bike ride. Great location, and views, but I object to an obligatory service charge when the service was mediocre at best. We waited 15 minutes at least to get a drink menu, tried to just order at the bar but they couldn’t take payment. Told by another staff member to ask another of their colleagues to take our order. All very polite, just a bit lacklustre. Brilliant location though.

Came here for my birthday meal over the jubilee weekend and it was all amazing - the food was great and the service was even better We chose them because of the dog friendly aspect and the staff were all very accommodating The only bug bear for us would have been the parking as it was very awkward and a bit annoying to try and sort as it isn’t well kept and for most cars it was just a tight space to get in and out so we ended up parking further out and just walking in

Came here for the first time and the staff upon arrival were extremely helpful and pleasant. Our server Nick had a calming presence and worked quickly considering he was on his own. The manager made us feel uncomfortable with the tone he used to speak to a member of staff for an unnecessary issue while we were being spoken to by them. The food was really tasty and so filling! Excited to see this place this place in the sunshine.

Lovely staff, even the kitchen staff were so friendly when I passed by a couple of them outside and in the restaurant too. The food was delicious. The best pepperoni pizza I've ever tasted and we really enjoyed the lamb rump so much! The cheesecake is divine too. Such a great place!

Home to some of the best almond croissants in the area! Sip and Slice is the perfect place for coffee, pastries and a walk around the lake (approx. 30 minutes stroll) for some fresh air. We meet our group of friends for a catch up doing just that. We have also had hot food from Sip and Slice at lunchtimes, and had a more upmarket dinner at The Bracebridge in the evenings (gets busy, so ideally book ahead), so whatever the day there is something suitable.

Went here for lunch at the Kiosk section. The location of this place is amazing. If you’re driving to this place, it’s a pretty deep drive to the restaurant. There are plenty of parking. You can also hike to this place as it is located inside Sutton Park. The food options for lunch was great. The bathroom facilities are clean. This is an excellent location too. The kiosks me section have seatings too. You definitely want to check this place out! I highly recommend this place for a meal or a tea with a view.

I had high hopes for our lunch here especially as we wanted to support a local independent. Had a table inside the restaurant and the setting is gorgeous but the service felt very tense and cold, the food itself was underwhelming and certainly not value for money. Sadly I wouldn't return.

My hubbie and I went to the bank holiday event as our first visit to the newly opened restaurant under new ownership. The team bent over backwards to ensure everyone had a good time and accommodated our last minute booking changes requested. Great music on the terrace and a lively vibe. Enjoyed a fabulous pizza but unfortunately the cheese burger was not to our taste - being served medium rare was unexpected, though I was advised after that we could ask for it to be well done. The team actively sought and responded positively to feedback on their first event and have identified a number of changes that will make the next event even better. Thanks for a great night, we will definitely be back, and wish the new business all the best and future success.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the recently re-opened Bracebridge. Our fish was cooked to perfection and the dessert was heavenly. Very reasonably priced for a high standard of food and service in a beautiful setting. Staff were friendly and very attentive. We’ll be back!
