Sights & Landmarks
The Tunnel of Eupalinos, an ancient underground aqueduct built in the 6th century BCE, is a remarkable feat of engineering. Constructed under the direction of the innovative engineer Evpalinos, this extraordinary landmark spans an impressive 1034 meters. Commissioned by Polycrates to secure sources of drinking water for the bustling metropolis of Pythagorio (then known as Samos), this monumental project involved dangerous excavation work that sadly claimed the lives of numerous laborers.
Amazing! This is a must to do if you are in Samos. 2500 year old tunnel made by hand to transfer water
Kristian Hjelm — Google review
If you are taller than 6 foot (180cm) or just don't like narrow, cramped spaces do not go, it will be a torture! The people who lived 2 millennia ago and have build these marvelous tunnels were much much smaller. On Today's standards you could say it was built by dwarfs.
Thomas Hensel — Google review
Last time I visited the sight was on 2017 with my 6 years old son and it was fantastic. We went the whole route and we returned to the start from the mountain. Yesterday ( 08-07-2023) I revisited the sight with my 11 years old now son. They said that it is not allowed for kids to enter the sight if they are less than 14 years old. Also you can't go through the whole route. They said that it is because of covid registrations. Really? It's like going to Athens and not being able to visit Parthenon. I change my grade to one star and will remain like that until they change it back to normal.
CHANTZARAS Nikolaos — Google review
While being on Samos it is a must see attraction. The tunnel makes an amazing impression if you know its history. You can enter only at certain times (different lengths of routes and prices). Unfortunately now (May 2022) it is not possible to go to the end of the tunnel because of the coronavirus. You should also mind that first meters are very narrow and you have to practically squeeze through, which may be a problem for people with claustrophobia or overweight. The only disadvantage is that the guide only leads the way in the tunnel and do not tell any informations about it, so you have to read everything by yourself.
Klaudia Malinowska — Google review
A remarkable feat of ancient engineering. A place worth seeing, a long, low and tight tunnel with an aqueduct dug a few meters below. A place well prepared for visitors, additionally with a beautiful view of the area. ATTENTION! Children under the age of 14 are not allowed to enter.
Andrzej ?nig?rski — Google review
4 stars because the trip in the tunnel is quite a remarkable experience. The one star missing to 5-star is because there is no guide to explain what you see, why it's like this or any further info that adds up to the experience.
??????? ???????? — Google review
Amazing to view, it would’ve been better if there was more of a guide to describe what was happening, but it is a wonder of the ancient world and worth seeing the engineering is incredibly impressive given it was 2 1/2 thousand years ago
W M — Google review
impressive tunnels. with the exposure it also somehow has something romantic. it is very cold compared to the outside temperature in summer, I recommend a thin jacket for sensitive people.
Nadja Pohl — Google review
Interesting place, good underground walking. It is worthy to visit when you visit Pitagorio town.
Arkadiusz Krztoń — Google review
A helmet and instructions were given to us before we went inside. We took the small route of 250 metres which lasted about 30 minutes (going in and then out). You need to wear non slippery shoes. Do not go in if you are claustrophobic. There is a small entrance very narrow and the tunnel all the way is very dark. If you read the story though, you will be amazed of what you are visiting and was built before 2500 years. A must do when in Samos! Don't miss it.
Ibrahim Matar — Google review
Do NOT go if you are afraid of heights or narrow places. Other than that a masterpiece of ancient engineering that you definitely have to visit! Most of the tours need a scheduled appointment (just call in advance). Tour guide is actually there for safety reasons ( as others have mentioned) so do your homework beforehand. Would really like though that last point to change and that is why I cut one star. Definitely worth visiting!
Strοngylis Dionysios — Google review
Absolutely amazing! 10 euros for 400 meters and back of excitement. The reviewers who said you couldn't go very far (and almost discouraged me) obviously bought the wrong ticket.
Paul Stark — Google review
We paid 10 euro for a 25 minute trip. It was supposed to be 40 minutes. The guide doesn't tell anything about the tunnel. She only escorts you through it. If you have questions better read about this place by yourself. You can also get tickets for 8 euro to see the half of the way.
Kamila Świerska — Google review
Amazing they could built this more than 2000 years ago. Can go 420m into the tunnel which is 1200m long. Also you can find the other entrance at N 37° 42.189', E 026° 55.515'. takes like 35min back and in. Very nice
Jaap Versteeg — Google review
Impressive feat of engineering if you think of how it was dug in the 6th century BC from two sides. The tunnel is 1,036 metres long, and at the rendezvous the closing error in altitude for the two tunnels was only a few millimetres. Take the long tour from the southern entrance which takes you to the rendezvous point and back.
Gerry Boshoff — Google review
I loved it. A place surely not to miss. Considering it happened during the 6th century before Christ means a lot. These guys miss the perfect connection of two different tunnels by 40cm.
Nick Koutsandrias — Google review
The entrance to the tunnel is quite narrow and low, so be prepared to stoop over. The guide is a safety guide, not a tour guide, so make sure to do your reading about the history before you go. It's a fascinating place, well worth the visit. There are 3 different options to visit the tunnel and two of them require advance booking so be sure to check out the website to see which tour best suits you.

Monastery
Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Located on a clifftop overlooking the sea and Pythagoreio, Panagia Spiliani Monastery is a historic site with a cave chapel that dates back centuries. This monastery, established in 1586, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Turkish coast and the town below. A peaceful ambiance permeates the large cool cave, which can be reached by descending 95 steps from the entrance. The interior of the tiny church within the cave is adorned with religious icons.
A great place to visit if you are in Pythagorio. You can get there by car, it has plenty of parking spaces, but I recommend a good 20-30 min. hike from the port. It offers a cave that cools you off from the blazing summer sun, a souvenir shop, toilets and a nice belvedere spot to sit down and enjoy the seaview.
Lucian Marin — Google review
When you are in the neighborhood of Pythagoreio you should definitely give this monastery a visit. The atmosphere is really calm and quite. The views over the bay, sea and airport are very nice. The chapel is located in a cave and is really peaceful. I would say a visit is worthwhile when you are in the neighborhood or combined with other sites in the surrounding area. There are two public toilets but one was out of order and the other had no toilet paper. That was quite annoying.
Stephan van der Mel — Google review
There is a cave for prayers, nice views of Pythagoreio city. You can go there dirty road with some incline.
Kamila Katarzyna ?wierska — Google review
The reasons to visit here are the view and the cave. The monastery and chapel are nice too. The view is breathtaking. You can view a large portion of the south side of the island from here. The cave is very impressive. The water from the holy spring runs across the ceiling of the cave, giving it a special atmosphere.
Michiel Essen — Google review
At a distance it looks like a big house. So I decided to go there. And i don't regret that. It's the best view you can get over town, a beautiful building and a wonderful cave.
MakZor — Google review
nice vantage point. there isn't that much to see. the little chapel of God somehow has something creepy about it for my taste. at the same time it's also kind of fascinating. Good shooting-spot
Nadja Pohl — Google review
We walked a 3 mile circuit from our Zorbas Hotel this cool clear morning. The quiet road has a gentle incline, passing a Hellenistic Villa and aqueduct ruins on the way to the 6th C BC Tunnel of Eupalinos. After viewing its opening, we backtracked up to this monastery founded in 1586 which was free to enter. Passing the courtyard tower, we saw the chapel then descended into the beautiful lighted cave-grotto to its pretty blue chapel. Researchers claim it was a place of worship since ancient times. Back outside near the WC at the old supported pine, we found wonderful views to the town castle, the Roman baths and airport. Returning, we stopped to see the Roman theater and its 4th C BC arched cavern behind the stage. Perfect exercise with great scenery and part of the 1992 UNESCO Pythagorein and Heraion of Samos.
Ibrahim Matar — Google review
Beautiful monastery with fantastic views of Pythagoreio. Make sure you check out the church within the cave, which might be the hiding and teaching place of Pythagoras, the famous mathematician from Samos. You can drive to the top or walk from the main town in 30 mins.
Geri Wedlake — Google review
Amazing sight and amazing church in the cave in an amazing location. The atmosphere inside the church is so fascinating and the view of the airport and the sea and Pythagoreio on the outside Mali it a beautiful combination!
ellie pap — Google review
Very beautiful place. Nice view over the ocean and the city of Pythagoreio. I would strongly recommend that you go see this little pearl. Such a lovely view and a little cave where you can light a candle, make a wish and make a prayer if you're into that. It is high above the ocean, be prepared that you'll have to drive at small roads with heavy incline.
foodbymilbo — Google review
Nice place, nice temperatures in the cave. Once you have climbed the hill to the monastery, you then descend 95 steps to the cave dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Παναγία, Panagia, All holy). We are informed that the cave is man made, excavated in ancient times as a quarry for the stone used as building material for the city and its walls. Despite being an artificial grotto, a spring and the remains of an ancient temple discovered here indicate that this was a sacred place in antiquity. It has been suggested that it may have been inhabited by the Samian Sibyl (σίβυλλα, prophetess) Phyto (also referred to as Phemonoe or Foito), and that it was the Cave of Pythagoras (although another cave on Samos also claims this). The water of a pool in the cave, known as the Agiasma (Αγίασμα, Holy Water), is considered to be holy by Christians. A church was built here in Byzantine times, and later a monastery. The cave contains a famous icon of the Virgin believed to have miraculous properties. The cave was used by local people as a place of refuge during times of danger, of which Samos has seen many. Monks no longer live here,.

Me ha parecido un lugar muy interesante. Desde lejos parece un santuario en la ladera de la montaña, como otros, pero al llegar encuentras una profunda cueva, impresionante. Y junto al santuario un pino viejo, grandioso... (Translated by Google) I found it a very interesting place. History Museums
The Archaeological Museum of Pythagorion, housed in a contemporary structure, showcases artifacts from nearby archaeological sites and particularly the Heraion. It exhibits rare tombstones and exquisite sculptures from different eras, including the Roman period. Noteworthy pieces are a temple-shaped sarcophagus and a statue depicting Emperor Trajan. The museum's design follows a chronological sequence, guiding visitors through time starting from the 4th millennium BC.
Fortunately they were open for Ohi Day of Greek Independence and bravery. Much about ancient history going back some seven thousand years. A gifted island of great artisans and creative people.

Amazing place.. must visit . Things you can't find In mainland Greece
Aristotle Dimou — Google review
Definitely interesting and well maintained museum with a lot of things to see. Free for up to 25 years old and other categories., 6 euros for the rest. Only problem is that the main exhibit is pottery, which was a little bit all over the place during the ancient times and don’t stand out in comparison with similar sites. Don’t get me wrong still a lot to see. Recommended if you are interested in archeological museums!
Str?ngylis Dionysios — Google review
Interesting museum about the history of Samos based on archaeological founds. A lot of explanatory texts that tell you about the stuff that you can see. We've spent around 1.5 hours there including reading most of the texts.
Pieter Jansen — Google review
The museum and site are on the main road from Samos Town and actually in Pythagorion above the port. The museum has interesting exhibits showing the trading connections of Samos with the mainland, other islands and even Egypt, mostly dating from the main period of the town under Polycrates (533-522BC). The descriptions in English are informative. Outside the Agora and remains of the central town are a compact area with baths workshops housing and the evidence of the later Roman influence with water pipes and other infrastructure. Well worth a visit especially when combined as we did to the tunnel site which is only 2 km from the museum.
Andy Weston — Google review
Very nice museum. Lots of information about the rich history of Samos. Costs only €6.-. A tip, give the visitor space. Staff follows you continuously as if they are attached to you with a rope. Very annoying and even uncomfortable. But all in all very interesting and educational.

Worth visiting as it has some nice pieces on display. Cheap entry fee. Queue is shorter than for the Akropolis. Buy tickets in advance online to get fast track entry...... but don't expect it to be organised, you'll have to push your way to the front and speak to the security staff to enter on the time allocated to your ticket.

Ancient Ruins
The Archaeological Museum at Heraion of Samos showcases artifacts discovered in the vicinity of Heraion and Pythagoreion, two important archaeological sites on the island. This UNESCO World Heritage Site includes the remains of an ancient town and a monumental Ionic temple dedicated to the goddess Hera. The temple, which was never fully completed, dates back to the 8th century BCE but underwent construction until Roman times.
Very interesting to see these structures. If you are in to ancient architecture or history, for sure check it out. If you are into video games as well, be sure to play Assassin's Creed - Odyssey and visit this structure here.
Nick Imming — Google review
The most interesting monument is the column that you can see without entering Heraion. If you are not a fan of archaeology you can skip entering a site, because you can see most of it through fence. The place is historically rich but only a small part of the ruins remained until today. Be mindful that excavations are located in the open space, so it can be very hot in the summer.
Klaudia Malinowska — Google review
Heraion is an interesting archeological site. The ruins were once the Temple devoted to the Greek goddess Hera, wife of Zeus. Sadly, not much is left of the temple. There used to be 1500 columns, now there’s only one left. The female sculptures are copies, the original ones are at the Museum of Antiquity in Vathy. Still, I think it’s worth visiting the site.
Kamila Wojciechowicz-Krauze — Google review
Fantastic place for those who love history and enjoy learning about ancient civilizations. The staff were helpful and the lady checking tickets so kindly explained us few things about the archaeological site. I recommend this place, although remember to take a bottle of water and a hat with you! Especially during the summer.

We didn’t realise but we visited on a national museum day so entrance was free. Really wouldn’t have minded paying as it was certainly worth it. Incredibly well preserved and fascinating to see the size and scale of the ancient Temple or Hera. Definitely worth a visit.
Ibrahim Matar — Google review
It is really amazing to see the huge column standing and imagine how the whole temple was built. We went on a rainy Sunday in the middle of winter and somebody was there to give us tickets. We were the only two visitors. It is worth seeing!

Located on a secluded side street in Samos, Irodion Garden Restaurant is a charming and enchanting eatery. Covered with grapevines, this courtyard-garden restaurant offers a slightly more formal atmosphere compared to others in town. Specializing in home-cooked tavern-style cuisine, it provides an authentic and elegant dining experience. Considered as a landmark of Samos, Irodion has created a warm and romantic environment that caters to all tastes.
The food is so good. One of the best foods in pythagorio. And the athmosphere, what can I say, sitting under the wine leafs. So good
Turbo Holmstr?m — Google review
Away from the main street, Irodion Garden serves as a peaceful getaway from the busier nightlife of Pythagoreio. Delicious food and extremely friendly staff for a very reasonable price as you walk downstairs into the hidden garden. The shareable dishes serve for more than enough. Definitely will return!

Not bad but definitely not the best. Even though I had made a reservation we were given a table at the outer garden, close to exit to the street. The food was ok, but not the best we had on the island.

Lovely staff. Excellent food. Chef will visit you if you have specific needs and in my case will accommodate the meal accordingly. To top it all we got complementary drinks 👌

After being palmed off with some vague "come back at 9 o'clock and we might have a table" comment at a nearby restaurant, we proceeded to walk further around the area before stumbling upon this hidden gem. In what could only be described as a beautifully quaint hidden garden courtyard, we were Instantly greeted by a friendly waiter who told us to pick any table. We started with the Saganaki and I went on to eat the Gyros special which was out of this world. Cheese overload, haha. Amazing and friendly service at a fair priced restaurant serving delicious food. What's not to like?

Elia Restaurant, located at the furthest point of Pythagorion's harbor, offers a stunning vista of the docked boats and yachts. This establishment prides itself on its delightful assortment of meze dishes, which are artfully presented. Guests can pair their meal with one of the many Greek wines available from Elia's extensive selection. Noteworthy specialties here include shrimp saganaki, oven-cooked lamb, and roasted aubergines.
Last year we tried Elia once and this year during our 7 nights stay we dined there 3 times which is already a good sign I guess. It is almost a fine dining experience which is rare in Pythagoreio. Their starters are creative and tasty. Fava with honeyed octopus, cheese croquettes with homemade tomato jam, beef carpaccio, bruschetta, all were nice tasty dishes with creative touches. We also enjoyed main dishes we tried. We tried calamari, grilled shrimp, caramelized pancetta, oven baked lamb in paper. But our favorites were their kadaifi with vanilla ice cream dessert and semisweet rose house wine. I want to also mention the service of Yannis. He always makes sure you enjoy the food and time spent there, plus his recommendations are always to the point.
Gokhan Demirel — Google review
Large portions. Some non typical options on the menu for a Greek restaurant. Bit too much salt in the food to my liking. Average pricing. Professional service.
Robbe Gsm — Google review
Went there for dinner. The food was good but the service was not that much. This is not a typical Greek Tavern, so for basic mezes they made some little changes. Atmosphere was good next to the sea… They have only two types of Ouzo and they don’t have Barbariani and Mini. That was sad for us. But they have home made ouzo it was good as well. The fried zucchini was too much crispy, not tasting like a standart greek fried zucchini, octopus with fava was not that good. Their bread was more than perfect… Greek salad wast standard, tzatziki was a bit different as well more creamy… Service was kind a slow… Not after you order but sometimes 3 waitress is not enough for the place…. We paid 65 Euros, 1 ouzo ordered rest was the food…

This restaurant is one of the best restaurants at the boulevard in Pythagorion. Good food, fresh and well cooked, good prices and good service. I have been here five times, every time with a large group, everybody was satisfied. Recommended.
Robbie Rulez — Google review
We were a big group of people and tried many of the dishes here. Fried zucchini was on spot, crunchy but not oily. Salmon tartare, octopus fava were delicious. Mousakka was very tasty. Greek salad was okay. We only had two issues with our food. One of the grilled salmons with teriyaki was quite undercooked, almost raw in the middle, they cooked once more. Grilled calamari was overcooked, became a bit chewy and tough. Restaurant was very crowded and I would understand some service errors however this part can be improved easily. I must say the restaurant is a bit too expensive. Interestingly the restaurant is located in a very touristic part of Pythagorion, the food quality is quite good when you compare it to other restaurants close by.
Korhan Dundar — Google review
One of the most unique and refined restaurants of the island with really good prices. So pleasantly surprised from the quality, flavours, settings and freshness of the dishes, the energy from the staff and especially the owner, Yiannis. Highly recommended, and a must visit when in Samos.

Since last year it has become my favorite place. Whatever dish we ordered so far was great quality. This time we got beef carpaccio, cheese croquettes with handmade tomato jam and some caramelized pork pancetta. The croquettes were amazing, one of the best i ever tried, the tomato jam was 10/10 too and the presentation was great also. We arrived at 7, the place was half full but soon got very busy. They were short of 1 waiter that day, yet they tried their best to serve us and keep up the service. i especially appreciated that. Again this place lived up to the expectations. Great prices too. Btw, the house wine is great also. We went back 2 days later. Got bruschetta with cheese and prosciutto, grilled calamari, and also grilled shrimps. All very good. The best part was the dessert we decided to try this time. Kadaifi rolls with vanilla ice cream was out of this world!

Pleasantly surprised by this non-pretentious, mostly sea-food restaurant. Located at the edge of the picturesque port, with unobstructed views to the sea and a gourmet menu, this place will make your visit to Pythagoreio a pleasant one. Friendly and professional staff, tasty dishes, generous portion sizes and a decent wine list add to the experience. Recommended.

We ordered Elia salad, talagani, and shrimp spaghetti, white wine and a dessert. I feel that the dishes were mediocre. Actually I liked the salad except the frozen cucumber or sth like that but it was not sth special. Then the talagani was overcooked (actually the half of it was burned so we for another one and they were willing to replace it) but the new one was good (as any other talagani in Greece). As far as the schrimp spaghetti, the spaghetti was nicely cooked and had a nice flavour of the schrimp but the 4 shrimps on the plate was a really small quantity for me. All in all it was a nice experience but I wouldn't recommend it and I will not visited again as I feel that it is not a value for money restaurant. Hope that the rest of Samos restaurants have more to give as it is our first day on the island! 😁

Four Seasons Restaurant is one of the top ranked restaurants in TripAdvisor in Pythagorio. The restaurant is very crowded. We came in late with no reservations and was lucky to get a table. The food is great, but not necessarily better than many other lower ranked restaurants in the village. Service throughout the meal could be better. Was served complementary dessert (cake) and drinks at the end of the meal which was very appreciated.

And the staff, very nice, friendly and down to earth! We’ll be back! Trust me!

Very pleased with our dinner! I have both gluten- and lactose intolerance so they gave me a lot of options to choose. Staff was very helpful! They had gluten-free pasta! Recommend!

Best food by far! I really recommend eating here. We had the fish that came with fresh vegetables and real oven potatoes. Almost everywhere else you only get fries… Service is excellent, the people love their job and you can feel it. Very attentive and customer oriented. We had a lovely evening. Thanks again!

The best place I have ever tried in Samos. Good location, friendly atmosphere and amazing foods! People are really nice who work here, they offered a dessert to everyone after a meal. What a great hospitality! We really enjoyed to spent a time in here, we went to every day after we got experienced it! Really recommended!

Located on the stunning Remataki Beach, this charming taverna offers a picturesque sea view and is a popular spot for families during the day and couples seeking romance in the evening. With an extensive menu of traditional Greek dishes, including mouthwatering fish options and the renowned moussaka from Samos, there is something to suit every taste. Remataki is a well-established family business, with each member contributing their expertise to ensure an excellent dining experience.
So good food, and the service is so good

Je zit op het strand, kijkend naar het water de haven en in ons geval bijna volle maan. Op de achtergrond vaart een cruiseschip voorbij, wat wil je nog meer. Het eten en de service zijn super. Prijs/kwaliteit is top. Een lekker drankje na afloop. Gewoon de moeite waard. (Foto van vorige week) (Translated by Google) You are sitting on the beach, looking at the water, the harbor and in our case almost full moon. A cruise ship sails past in the background, what more could you want. The food and service are superb. Price/quality is top. A nice drink afterwards. Simply worth it. (Photo from last week)

Super miejsce przy plaży. 🇵🇱Jedzenie bardxo dobre. Ceny przyzwoite. Good for rest and lunch in Pitagorious. U can seat on the sandy beach with full food on the table with good price. Delicious octopus, local fried fish and greek salad with tzatziki of course.

Great restaurant with hospitable waiters. We tried the pasta and gyros and loved it. There was even a waiter who had learned Turkish who helped us in our dining ☺️

A very nice little restaurant near the beach, good selection of fresh seafood and a friendly welcome.

Not as easygoing as eight years ago. The "home-made bread" was normal toast without taste. Besides, staff's try to flatter by yelling some words of clients mother tongue is annoying.

A nice family owned restaurant with sea view. The portions are very big and I would definitely recommend to stick with the greek cuisine from the menu.

Because of the crowd, waiters were very confused and didn't bring what we order. The food was not very delicious. We ate grilled octopus, saganaki, Greek salad, vine leaves dolma, fried veggies. They were missing flavour. Prices are high when you consider these facts. There were a lot of cats.

One of the best restaurants in town. The owners are personal friendly and love to make a joke once in a while. All the food is great. The taste is good, the portions are good and the whole picture is perfect. I definitly recommend you going there.

We went there due to our Turkish friend's recommendation... Probably the best fish I've eaten for years... Stegorios has really been a good host to us, at a lovely, cozy day in Samos... Lots of stars ✨

Faros Restaurant, located on Remataki Beach in Pythagorion, offers a stunning waterfront view and an elegant ambiance. This beautiful establishment specializes in seafood, offering a fresh catch of the day. With a tempting selection of Samian wines, it is the perfect place to complete your evening. Faros is known for its contemporary Mediterranean bistro style and serves generous bowls of salad along with excellent renditions of traditional Greek dishes.
Such an amazing place with nice and absolutely lovely people. It feels like home from the Frist second we arrived here. Thank you for being so lovely. ❤️

Went to Faros 3 times during my holiday. Mainly for the free sunbeds when you buy something. Had lunch there everyday, it was good and big portions too! The sunbeds are nice and confortable.

Restaurant recommended by locals, run by a warm and attentive local family fully committed to quality products. Make sure to follow the waiter’s daily recommendations as they vary with what is bought and prepared on the day🤗. Very pleasant surprise and will definitely be back!

We came here to be on the beach because Enhorio was full. The waitress immediately told us that we can't be here unless we ordered something from this restaurant, not the next one. Despite this, we had to go inside to the restaurant after an hour to order drinks to the sunbeds. Apparently they don't serve the sunbeds unlike other places. The chicken pita gyros we ordered was very tasty and inexpensive, ~5€ The sunbeds were okay tho not as nice as the next doors. Overall for a beach day it was a good experience, the competition is just quite high in Pythagorion.

Easily our favorite dine-in restaurant on the island. My husband and I stayed in Pythagorio, Samos, for 2 weeks. We ate at Faros 3 times, and each meal was incredible. The atmosphere is light, fun, but classy. My husband likes the pork steak, which would easily feed two people for $18. Best pork steak I’ve ever had. I ate sardines, snapper, and octopus. All very good! A friend came and had the mushroom risotto: “it’s to-die-for.” Faros is a family-run restaurant, they’ve been there for decades. The hostess, Stella, is an artist. Demetri, her brother, is kind and funny. It’s as much fun to get to know them as it is to eat here. Stella is like a mind-reader, and because she’s so good, we coined the phrase “trust the artist.”

We had a great evening. The place is very nice and have an amazing view of the sea. The service was also very nice. The waiters are friendly and communicative. The food was delicious and in large portions. will go there again. I would recommend everyone to check this place. Update: We visited this place after a few days. The hospitality was as usual great. The lady suggested us mixed fish platter for 2 person which we ordered but got only one kind of fish and was also a bit tasteless.

Best Restaurant in Samos (I really mean the whole Island). We stayed here for 15 days and tried everyday a different Restaurant, this was the best! I hope you like fish, because it comes fresh from the see!

Great place to eat by the little beach! Good food, chilled vibe/atmosphere. Was a recommendation and would recommend forward!

The food is not authentic at all. The quality of ingredients are poor. No real fish place would need to “decorate” a grilled fish with such vegetable and sauce. Thats disrespectful to the fish. Also, the fish didnt feel very fresh. The shrimp saganaki is a joke, 3 pieces for 18euros, shrimps were not even properly cleaned. This place proved itself to be a tourist trap for sure. I have been to fish tavernas in Greece, this is not a good fish place in any sense. Very dissapointing and expensive dinner, I do not recommend.

The location right on the beach is lovely, as is the sunset (if you go early). The food is average and there are definite “tourist trap” behaviors such as claiming a broken card machine, placing bread and water on the table (charges if you touch them) and not listing wine prices (a carafe of white is 12 €, very expensive by Greek standard.) Crab salad is fake crab. There are a few more pricey dishes but the kitchen doesn’t deliver. Still worth a visit if you know what you are going for. Remataki a few doors down is better (we preferred Notos on the other side of the strip).
