Trattoria Via Dell'Amore di Viviani Alessandro is located along the famous Via dell'Amore hiking trail in Cinque Terre. This well-maintained path offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding countryside, making it a popular spot for leisurely walks. The trattoria itself is known for its delicious food and friendly service, providing a welcome respite for hikers exploring the area.
Very good food and the pasta with the fish was excellent

We were looking for a reasonably priced restaurant in the Cinque Terre area and found this place recommended by a blogger. We ordered several dishes pasta (trofie) with pesto, anchovies done two ways (cured in lemon with olive oil, deep fried), sea bream roasted with tomatoes and olives. All the dishes were excellent and I would highly recommend this restaurant. So many of the restaurants in the area are overpriced or very poor quality. This place is true gem and you could tell as so many locals were eating there.

This place is a Joke. Don’t understand any English. We order red wine and get white wine. They served us starter bred that was the driest bred we ever tasted. The starter dish tasting nothing. When we said we wanted just to pay, she got angry and asked all the other customers if they were happy about the food. All was awkward and terrible

A short walk away from the busy street of Riomaggiore was a small seafood trattoria with no line and better prices. The service was impeccable and the food was fantastic. The pesto was amazing and the seafood pasta also. Really really good.

My family enjoyed an excellent dinner last Saturday, May 6. We were seated in front of the piano, and my daughter jokingly said the room felt haunted to her, that she expected the piano to play by itself, partly because I am an amateur ghost hunter. Right after paying the bill but before leaving, the power went out for about 30 seconds, and we laughed that maybe the room was haunted. It was a funny moment. I spoke to a lovely lady staff member afterward, thanking her for helping make the evening enjoyable and complimenting her. If I return to the area I will definitely come back to this restaurant for the excellent food and friendly service, and maybe a ghost hunt!

The chef made us an amazing bean soup special on request and we could not be more appreciative. The restaurant is charming and the service so friendly. If we were staying longer we would certainly be back!!

One of the most exciting and delicious restaurants ever! It is literally 10 meters from a train station that is 100 meters away from the sea. The staff is nice and the atmosphere is perfect

Came here for lunch after I couldn't find a restaurant at Vernazza. Ordered the pesto, mixed grilled fish and a brownie. All was good since I was starving 😂 The owner asked where I come from and he seems to know a little bit about Vietnam. High recommend :) Especially since it is right next to the station.
Trung Vo — Google review
This place was absolutely delicious with probably the most reasonable prices in Riomaggiore. Would definitely come back if we’re in the area again. We had the house wine, an appetizer, two pasta dishes, and a main course for under 80 dollars.
Kristin Hlavacek — Google review
The place is located near the train station. Very accessible. Good food, but not so spectacular. The Home-made pasta is not hot/warm. The dessert was delicious. The staff is very friendly.

It's really hard to find a restaurant in Riomaggiore during the off-season and siesta. You can get a frozen pizza or really pricy food. We came along this restaurant which was our last option, and I think it was the best decision. We got lunch during siesta, the waitress was really kind and helpful. I got fish with chips, and we also ordered a house wine. All was delicious. The fish with chips was for 18 euros. They also had great tiramisu.

a very nice man who owns the place! Amazing view from the terrace. The hostel is not in the main street, but a 10 min walk away on a hill. Cozy place. We had a good time!
Liliana Takacs — Google review
Was kinda scared after reading the reviews of this place but we had an overall great experience. The private 3 person room was in a good location with a beautiful view and easy to get to town. It was a bit up in the hills rather than where the office is, but made it so we got a nice breeze that cooled the place down at night.
Gabriel Johnson — Google review
This stay was a bit misleading - but overall I enjoyed my time there. It seems the pictures of the entrance and the location on google is incorrect - the hostel was actually about a 15min walk uphill and via a public elevator - so it wasn't very central in the end. We paid for 2 beds in a dorm and ended up being given a double bed in a dorm - strange set up. The room itself had incredible ocean views and the interior was nice, it felt more like a house than a hostel. The wifi was surprisingly good & there were multiple terrace areas and a lot of greenery (so bring bug spray). there was no aircon but the fan was enough despite the heat. There was no kitchen but there was a fridge in the room & a kettle in the bathroom. We read on our way there that there is a 25yr age limit on staying in dorms (we are 26&27) but in the end they never checked our IDs so it was fine. They only accepted cash but there is an ATM nearby. I would stay again, it would just have been nicer to know this ahead of time. The main issues was just that it was misleading & we didn't get the beds that we had booked - and the bathroom. There was only one bathroom (as in one toilet & shower) between 3 rooms & the shower situation. The shower was quite small with no shower curtain etc so the floor was always soaking wet with no bathmats (there is a mop though hah). It is also handheld so the water just goes everywhere.
Holly O — Google review
Worst place I’ve ever stayed in!! DO NOT BOOK HERE Room was filled with bugs and other critters, even found a spiders nest next to the shower. No ventilation and only one small window, so it was musty and disgusting the entire stay. Only one small fan provided that didn’t work and was full of dust. Room was dirty upon arrival, hair in the sheets and other dirt on the floor and in the toilet. Host is not accessible to you during your stay, so good luck if you have a problem. Unless you want to sleep with spiders and centipedes in your bed, book anywhere else!!
Samantha Hanna — Google review
The worst experience in my life! The place is dirthy and different what is in the pictures. The service is horrible. The owner were so so so rude. It was such a bad dicision to book a place. I do not suggest it anyone!
Vrg T — Google review
When I came to this hostel had some expectations for it. Unfortunately I found that even most of my basic expectations were not met. The 6-room dorm I slept in was really just a 1 room apartment with 6 beds. The top bunk bed didnt even have a ladder up. There was no secure place to keep your belongings-no lockers nothing. The bathroom is pathetically small (cant even crouch down in the shower). The kitchen really stank. Worst of all, the WiFi was so bad- couldnt do anything with it. The beds in the room were sooo close together till there was really 0 privacy. Really disappointed. I think you're honestly better off staying at another place with the price you're paying. I feel the owner is really trying to rip off hostel stayers - really doesnt care much about the condition of his place.
Sean Low — Google review
BEWARE BED BUGS!!! Do not believe reviews on hostelworld. The owner was rude, and rooms/bathrooms were dirty. No lockers. Guests are asked to leave room keys in a bowl outside the rooms. Belongings don't feel safe and secure as anyone can walk in, grab a set of keys, and open the room. Owner makes you pay in cash and then cancels your booking after your stay, which prevents you from leaving a review on hostelworld. I received 30+ bites (in clusters) all over my body. Most likely bed bugs I wish I had read the Google reviews, rather than the reviews on hostelworld prior to my stay.

NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL I arrived at 5:30pm to Riomaggiore and started searching for the hostel I booked at (location Via Colombo 94) it was so hard to find it since the location on google maps shows that the location of the hostel is at the train station itself. After calling more than 10 times the numbers mentioned on their website and on google maps (which are not the same) with no answer at all on all 3 numbers, I started asking for help from people in the area, I searched on their website again and read the visitor’s comments I understood that their office only is at Via Colombo 94 where I am supposed to check-in before 7pm!! With the help of some nice people I could reach their office located at a very steep road with a luggage I could barely carry all the way up. However, when I arrived it was around 9pm and the office was closed with no number written at the door or any info about the dorms location. Then I started asking in the nearby shops and restaurants if they know the location or if they have the hostel’s phone number but no one could help with it and then I tried reading the comments again to find out that the dorm’s location is at via Tracastello 85 which is around 15mins walk from via Colombo 94 with a super steep way that I could not walk and finding a taxi at 10:30pm wasn’t the easiest thing, however I could find a taxi and I went to this location to find out that this is not the location I should be in because there are no dorms there! I found a Canadian family staying at a house rented from the same guy they gave me his number it was around 11:30pm I called him when he understood that I’m here to check-in he hanged up on the phone. It was the worst experience ever specially for a young lady to be in the streets of a new city alone in the middle of the night with nowhere to sleep. I was lucky enough to catch the train and go to another city (La Spezia - 6mins away) because I couldn’t find a last minute availability at the hotels in Riomaggiore at all.
Christina Sfeir — Google review
The worst place hostel I have ever stayed at. the owner keeps the location of the hostel deliberately wrong to make the property seem more attractive, and the most ridiculous part of it all is the price 65 euros for the worst rooms I have ever seen, not that there is anything wrong with bad rooms but usually they are priced accordingly, this is just using the people who had nowhere else to sleep
Ariel Nehmadi — Google review
Avoid this hostel no matter what. The owners were super rude and don't let you know in advance that you have to pay cash. I was lucky that there was a girl leaving who was willing to take out cash for me. She was complaining (rightfully) that her bed was right next to a window you could see from the street and her doors didn't lock so she felt unsafe. The owner screamed at her that she was making it up and that she was crazy (seemingly the only two phrases this guy knew in english). The actual location is a 15 minute uphill walk -- falsely advertised on google and hostelworld. THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK, ANYONE CAN WALK IN!! The shower was broken and the place was disgusting and clearly not cleaned. Better to just sleep in the woods or drop the same amount of cash on a hotel in La Spezia.
Matt Russo — Google review
owner is unprofessional and rude. Was given a room with 1 bed instead of 2. A large boulder protrudes a foot into the bathroom wall and the door is probably 172cm tall with massive cracks that let in mosquitos and could probably fit a mouse. Gets hot at night and the only thing cleaned in the place is the sheets. The younger guide who takes you to the place is friendly and polite.

(Translated by Google) First of all, the location is not correct, the location they indicate is where the check-in takes place, the accommodation is actually a 10-minute walk away, quite far away and uphill. First of all, the place you arrive at is quite small, it is full of things and it is quite overwhelming. The man you serve is rude and unpleasant. He told us to wait 5 minutes for the boy to arrive to take us to the accommodation and he kept us waiting for half an hour on the street because he was lying on the only sofa there was to wait on. We tried to ask him again if we had to wait much longer and since he was talking on the phone he waved his hand at us and didn't even deign to answer... in short, terrible treatment. When the boy finally arrived (this boy was nice) and took us to the accommodation, he had us 10 minutes walking up the streets since the accommodation is quite far away, you have to take an elevator that takes you to the upper part of Riomaggiore. The accommodation, really, very cute, is like an old house, with a very lush garden and some tables and chairs to sit on, but you could tell that the garden was neglected, it needed to be pruned in some areas which made El Paso uncomfortable. The room, small, but nice, a double bed, a closet and a small table with 2 chairs and some decoration. We also had a mosquito net for the bed, but it was of no use since it was for a smaller bed and barely covered it and the truth is, it would have been very necessary since since the garden was so lush there were many bugs, the mosquitoes bothered me. They stung a lot. There was also a very old and dirty fan that hardly gave any air, you had to hold onto it a lot so on hot days, like what happened to us, we were quite hot sleeping. There was also a shared bathroom, but of course, we were like 5 rooms and having just one bathroom was not enough, since there was always someone in the bathroom or showering… The shower, on the other hand, was quite small, it barely had any pressure and the shower head couldn't hold, plus the screen doors didn't close properly and the entire bathroom filled with water... We also miss a kitchen or a similar space to be able to cook or leave food...

Do NOT stay at this hostel! This hostel is so bad that they cancel your booking prior your check out just so you can't leave a review. First of all: the location is not where they put on the map. They put the address as the Main Street of riomagore but that is only their office. You do the checkin and then they walk you to the location of the room. I booked it as hostel but is not. They just put beds in a house and advertise it in many platforms as they can, booking as hostel, airbnb... Also they don't have lockers. And the rude owner says you have to pay in cash only when you arrive.

Perched above the sea, Castello di Riomaggiore is a 13th-century stone castle originally built for defense against pirates and invaders. Over the centuries, it was transformed into a residence for noble families. Today, visitors can explore its well-preserved rooms and halls showcasing the village's history. The castle's terrace offers sweeping views of Riomaggiore and its surroundings. Despite being a bit of a climb to reach, the stunning vistas make it worth the effort.
Beautiful place, the nicest of all 5 towns, in my opinion. A bit too cold and definitely empty because of Covid and winter, of course, but this was the only time we could make it there. We didn’t walk, we took the train. Very clean and fast. Recommended 💯

Old ruined castle above Riomaggiore. There is a lift available just outside the town's station to access. Views are very nice. Be aware there is a walk (hike) between this and the next town of Cinque Terre, called Manarola. Unfortunately this is closed due to a landslide and not expected to be reopening until 2024.

To get the best view of the surrounding area (without hiking) of Riomaggorie you need to spend 2 euros to go inside this castle. And it’s really just to see a view. There is a rotating art gallery in the main room however. The view is great.

The location is beautiful on the top with a lot of trekking on steps and an inclined pathway, carry some water and drinks for the hike. It's a beautiful view and a very calm place. Do not look for the trees beside the cross they are chopped off no more visible on the actual scene.

A small but nice old Castle. High up on the rocks above Riomaggiore. It takes quite a climb to get there but the view is just perfect. For only €2 you can enter the castle, read about some history about the village and enjoy the view. The view is just perfect and you can take magazine like pictures of Riomaggiore.
Gerben Voorsluijs — Google review
At the time of visit, the bastion was under restoration. However, we enjoyed strolling around, including the fabulous views of sea and Riomaggiore village. Established around the 13th century and finished around the 16th century, the Riomagiore fortress had defensive purposes. The edifice is now used as a public building for various cultural events.
Horia Banciu — Google review
Good views but the castle itself is meaningless and nothing special. It's kind of off the tourist path so if you want to have a nice little hike to get away, by all means, do that. But the castle itself charges for entry and there's no reason to go in.

The most scenery hiking trail out of all possible in cinque terre. Start in Riomagiorre but instead of climbing up through a steep stairs which starting on the road to riomagiorre, hike uphill through a forest at the top of Riomagiorre. Google route will bring you there. At some point you ll have amazing views to a vinery hills of Cinque terre. At the end of a trail, you ll arrive to a quiet chilling place with an amazing view over a Cinque terre. At first we didn't recognize a place because the door to a yard was closed, and it looked like a private territory, no sign no anything. After double checking we just push a door and entered, it wasn't locked.

The Church of San Giovanni Battista of Riomaggiore, also known as the Church of Saint John the Baptist, is a stunning example of medieval architecture dating back to the 13th century. This ornate Catholic church boasts Gothic arches, a rose window, and a pipe organ. Renovated over the years, it features a neo-Gothic facade while preserving its original Carrara marble rosette.
Beautiful church in Riomaggiore. Close to the church there is an elevator if you do not want to go on by foot upstairs to the castle.

Built around the mid-14th century (1340) under the patronage of Fieschi noble Genoese family, the church was restored in 1870, gaining its current neo-Gothic facade (typical to 1800 architecture). The 'rosone' (the circular, rose-like window above entrance), black-and-white stripped pillars, and the 3-naves basilica structure are similar to those in Chiesa San Giovanni Battista in Monterosso and typical to 13-14th century Genoan style. Inside, there are several Renaissance religious masterpieces. It's beautiful by its elegance and serenity.

The restaurant Rio Bistrot is a great place to enjoy a meal in the beautiful town of Riomaggiore. The food is delicious, and the staff are attentive and polite. They make sure that you have everything that you need during your meal, and they will even take the time to explain the menu to you if you don't know what something is.
This place exceeded all expectations! My friend and I did the tasting menu for dinner. The calamari was my favorite but each course was fantastic!! literally wanted to lick each plate! The wine list was wonderful too. I had the absolute best Chianti that I’ve ever tasted and I really appreciate how they had the proper glassware for it! At the end of the meal I was shocked by how low cost it all was. I would have paid double. The entire staff was very nice and professional. Great service, great environment, and great value. I spent 9 days in Italy traveling around and this was by far my favorite meal out of all of them. Again very impressed by them especially working in what I consider a small space. Awesome experience. Thank you I won’t forget it!

Besides having a Michelin guide rating, I would not recommend going here. We were curious and wanted to convinces ourselves that, besides reading reviews that stated that this place was overrated,(which in the end resulted to be true) this place was worth eating at. Slow service (which we usually don’t mind) but eating at completely at different time slots than my partner - it was nothing but disappointing. Topically touristic.

Loved it. Went for the Mrs birthday. We had the tasting menu and every course was amazing. Paired with local wine we had a great evening. The staff is very attentive and prepared a dish with fennel since we cannot have eggplant. Doggos are welcome too, but no water drinking bowl is available.

Perfect for a romantic dinner date! Our hotel helped us with reservations for the terrace. There are only two dinner services and we saw many tourist be denied because of the full reservations. The restaurant sits right outside of the water edge/marina. The atmosphere is romantic, relaxing and yet still exciting as you see all of the tourist pass by. We had the tasting menu and shared a bottle of wine. The staff were all very professional and friendly. The food was delicious and provided a great variety. We are very glad to have tried this lovely location!

This was the best meal either my husband or I have ever eaten, and we are definitive foodies! We opted for the tasting menu. Everything was fresh, inventive, and so, so delicious. The pricing feels very reasonable for the quality, and the staff is friendly with a good sense of humor. The restaurant is pretty tiny but so charming and you can’t beat the view of the Riomaggiore harbor right outside. For sure, a reservation is a good plan so you don’t miss out on this amazing place!

Absolute gem in Cinqueterra. The local wine was incredible with the seafood, and I had the best white fish (sea bass) I have ever had- it came with an amazing light cheese sauce underneath. The duck appetizer was delicious, every flavor went so well together. The deserts were elegant and delicious. Service was great. Some of the best bread we had in Italy too

We had our first meal in Cinque Terre here and it was excellent. We chose the Chef’s degustation menu and the Sommelier chose a great bottle of red wine to pair with the meal. All were seafood courses, all local produce and all delicious. On serving, our excellent waiter described the dish, the ingredients and took time to celebrate the course. He also was very personable and enhanced the dining experience with his wit and genuine celebration of the food. It was a wonderful experience and over the many course we went on a Riomaggiore food journey. Highly recommend if you are looking for a very special meal while in Riomaggiore.

Awful service! Dirt in our water glass, which the server apologized for and brought a new glass. Then, there was dirt in the wine glass - to which our server said - ‘it’s nothing’ even after we showed him the dirt speck. Then he poured the SAME DIRT IN WINE into a different glass. The WORST part was when our duck appetizer arrived it came with PLASTIC (a plastic pull tab from a package/container) and the restaurant’s response was to BLAME THE CUSTOMER. We asked to see the manager and they sent out a server/hostess who first apologized for the plastic in our food, then informed us that the dirt sometimes ‘drops from the ceiling into the glasses’ and asked what they could do to make us happy. When we replied that we would like the rest of our meal dirt and plastic free, the server informed us that they CANNOT do anything to make us happy. We asked to speak with the manager again and the server informed us that the manager was ‘too busy working on the others’ food’. While the duck speck was good until we found PLASTIC IN IT, the bread was cold and stale. We decided to leave and eat street food to be happier than eating the contaminated food Rio Bistrot served without care or repair. So disappointing - especially after booking our reservation months in advance through a local resident and eagerly anticipating a great experience!!!! We wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else expecting a lovely meal at this highly recommended restaurant.

My wife and I both had the tasting menu of the night and had a fantastic meal. We each receive three appetizers and then a 1st and 2nd, and lastly dessert. We were a bit too excited to devour some of the dishes and couldn’t get a photo of each of them. The service was phenomenal and all of the waiting staff took great care of us and made us feel welcome.

Stayed just across the street and our host recommended. This place did not disappoint. It’s a fancier place with smaller portions but I felt the food was very very good and service was above and beyond in terms of welcoming and being friendly. Didn’t feel stuffy / too pretentious. Was lovely overall. A woman when we were there had a slight medical event as well and the staff handled it smoothly for everyone. Was impressed and would go back. Highlight for me was the Bransieno (spelling?) and dessert. Recommend the tasting menu.

I have no idea how this place has such a high rating. We saw the chef cook us Barilla boxed pasta which is insane for €20. Sauces were bland too. I recommend to avoid this place.

This is high quality restaurant, not your typical family owned cheap place. Everthing is fancy and the taste is second to none. It is a local cooking but high end. And we loved it!!!

I really wanted to love this restaurant… but compared to other Michelin plate restaurants, this is a massive let down. I don’t believe it should have Michelin status unfortunately. The service was standard, perhaps worse than standard. We waited about 45 minutes to receive the wine we had ordered. The food was okay, nothing amazing, or even good. They didn’t even ask how we would like to have our beef cooked. Disappointing to say the least. However, the lady that worked there was very friendly- probably the best part of the dinner…

We had an incredible experience here. The food was unique and everything we had was exceptionally delicious. We had a glass of the local the calamari, beef dish, lasagna, a dessert that looks like a cappuccino, and a fluffy amazing moose followed by the dessert wine. We feel grateful for our experience here as it was quite special. Wonderful food, friendly knowledgeable staff, and a lovely atmosphere tucked in the hillside of Cinque Terre.

Had just a delightful meal here - tried the smoke duck appetizer, and had the beef and fish and they were all delicious with exquisite flavours. Waitress recommended a vanilla based dessert and it was fantastic.

Had an exceptional dinner at Rio Bistro. Both, their food and service were excellent! We were celebrating my mom's 60th birthday and staff, especially Eduardo, made us feel so special! Definitely worth the hype!!!

Not sure why this place isn’t 5 stars, full of perfect reviews. My father and I stumbled across this place when it was raining in Riomaggiore. We ended up getting their “special” which is worth the experience and money. The owner Manuel is the real deal and we really enjoyed Eduardo and Ella as well. We went back a second time for the “special” (different dishes as they’re made to order daily depending on the catch/fish availability) before we left because it’s just that good!!!!

Overrated and over priced restaurant. The reviews are misleading . Locals suggested this restaurant and we were excited to check it out . Only to be disappointed by the average quality of food and superficial service. We tried the tasting menu and nothing was great . The fish pasta was terrible , fishy and overpowering . We ordered a separate dessert to try the cheese cake and they served whipped cream with nuts instead. Overall so disappointing after making reservations upfront. Save your money and time by avoiding this place . Many cute restaurants in center area that are much better .

This restaurant is the best we've eaten at in Italy. The food was perfectly cooked and every dish was flavorful and unique. The waiter, Eduardo, was very helpful and friendly. Worth every penny. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.

Amazing food and recommendations with the menu. Top-notch storytelling from the king of the restaurant himself: Eduardo. Thank you for being our host and serving us the best food in town!

Rio Bistrot in Riomaggiore, Italy, exceeded all expectations with their incredible Chef's Choice dinner option. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality, with flowers to celebrate International Women's Day, setting the perfect tone for the evening. Our server, Eduardo, was a true gem, elevating our dining experience with his impeccable wine pairing recommendations. His attention to detail and genuine care made us feel like honored guests throughout the meal. What truly made Rio Bistrot stand out was not just the exquisite food, but the personalized touch that Eduardo added to our experience. His remarkable memory was evident when we bumped into him the next day at a local cafe, where he greeted us by name, further highlighting the exceptional service we received. Rio Bistrot is undoubtedly a hidden gem in Riomaggiore, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of Cinque Terre.

Nessun Dorma is a beautiful and romantic Italian restaurant with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. The food here is local and fresh, and includes dishes like bruschetta and meat & cheese platters. In addition to wine, they also serve cocktails which make for a perfect ending to your trip to Manarola.
Take the pesto class!! So worth it! Simone the owner teaches the class and he's amazing! So personable and will tell you the story of how he started the restaurant. We went to the class on a Monday and there were 6 of us total, but we were a small class. To get to the restaurant you can go around underneath it where the viewpoint of Manarola is and then up some stairs and keep to the right. We were given an apron and the ingredients. Simone taught us all about them and the correct technique for making the best pesto. Our classmates had a glass of wine, and because we don't drink, we were made a special basil lemon sprite cocktail. Delicious! The class ended at noon and we then had lunch at the tables with the best view as the restaurant opened and other people came in. Everything was delicious and this class was a definite highlight of our trip to Italy.

If you're in Manarola, this place is a MUST!!! We went for their pesto class (which I can't recommend enough) and had SO MUCH FUN!! The view is unbeatable, and the staff is all very friendly. They have great drink and snack options. If you're planning to go for drinks and snacks, make sure to make a reservation or understand how their virtual queue works because it gets very busy. It's worth the hype!!

Hands down the best experience I have ever had. We did the Pesto Class! It was more than I could have ever hoped for. Well worth the money and the time. The food is amazing, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful and the view was to die for. Do not wait book this today!

Our experience at Nessun Dorma was hands down one of our favorite parts of our trip to Italy. We stayed in Manarola for three nights, and we went to Nessun Dorma all three days we were there- that’s how great the view, food and staff were. Let’s start with the first thing you need to know: download the app. Yes, there is an app and it is vital you download it in order to not waste your day and to get in. There is no call ahead or reservation system it’s either download the app and see where you are in the queue waiting to get in or get a QR code from the restaurant. I recommend the app because it allows you to keep doing other things without just waiting out front. The towns are so close together you could be out on a hike or doing whatever and make it back when you see you’re closer to the being sat. But I digress. The views from here are breathtaking and will likely be some of your prized photos from your trip to take back home to show friends and family. The photos you get during “the Golden Hour” really showcase how beautiful Manarola is, but it’s really beautiful any time of day. The environment here can’t be beat either. The staff works incredibly hard and does whatever they can to make you feel at home. The menu is mainly drinks and other light bites such as bruschetta. While it’s not your typical dinner food, it’s filling and delicious enough that you won’t miss anything while you’re enjoying the music, view and experience. We also took the pesto making class with Simone and it was an absolute blast. You go in before the restaurant opens and learn about and make pesto (which this area is known for!) all while being on a seaside cliff in Italy- how is this real life? I could go on and on, but if you’re going, just move this to the top of your list- you won’t be disappointed.
Blair Burch — Google review
Amazing food! We went on a recommendation and we are very glad we did. The virtual queue was very easy to navigate in the app. The location is stunning and again the food was really good. We got several dishes and just shared them all together. I highly recommend.
Tony Culletto — Google review
Well beyond expectations: 1. menu is quite basic, dishes are mechanically prepared with no Italian flair - prosciutto slices are thick, bread for bruschetta is rather old and chewy; mozzarella is moderate; cocktails are just ok; 2. service is not attentive at all - I had to change a table from bigger one to a smaller one, and then when I was away for a few mins to take photos, my small table was already assigned to a couple who just entered 🫣 I asked for a cutlery twice - with no reaction; 3. loud italian music is coming from speakers everywhere, no atmosphere at all to enjoy the view; 4. booking application is a good idea but one never knows how much time is left before they will give you a table - notifications are only about a number of tables in front of you; 5. the whole dining experience was just a disappointment - I got the feeling that noone cares for the guests as due to the view Nessun Dorma will continue to be the most instagramable restaurant in Cinque Terre.

A wonderful place in a wonderful city on a wonderful coast )) I highly recommend visiting this place. Great drinks, very fast service and of course an amazing view! One thing, to get there you need to make a reservation in the program of the same name, which can be downloaded.

Yes, of course, this place is insanely advertised. Yes, if you come with no appointment you will have to wait more than two hours. Download the application as indicated everywhere, stay in line calmly walking around the Manarola. This place is definitely worth it. The view pays for everything. Plus very, very fast service. Naturally, it is made at the expense of the fact that you cannot choose from a huge menu. You just choose something from 4 ready-made menus, but serving fast, for 7-10 food and drinks are already on the table. gorgeous Aperol Spritz! Advise: you may take one more with you)

Really nice views... however you can also get the same view walking up the hill. The food was amazing though... so flavourful and delicious. Service was fast. You should download the app to get in line the day you want to go to ensure a spot! Otherwise, you can grab a number to wait in line at the entrance. Prices were also inexpensive, which was surprising for the view.

Delicious and fresh dishes! Make sure to enjoy with a cold drink. Great views as well. Remember to download the app beforehand to ensure you get a seat during the busy summer period.

Best Bruschetta I had ever. It was exceptional. With that view, it was worth the price. Book in advance else you are unlikely to get a table. We didn't book in advance so we had to opt for takeaway. Service was quick. I was disappointed after knowing that they also charged me table charge/service charge despite my order being a take-out. Surely felt like cheated.

I was staying in Riomaggiore and decided to explore nearby. Manarola is beautiful and whilst walking to see the view of the town I noticed a small queue forming up above. So being the nosey girl I am I went and looked. I found the most amazing place!! The food is OUTSTANDING!! The service is OUTSTANDING!! I was served by the lovely Ila, had a lovely chat with her about my visit and she was the cherry on the top of my visit!! If I'm ever in the area I will be visiting again, purely for the food and how amazing this place is!! The view's not too shabby either!! One of the highlights of my travels round Italy.

The Pesto experience was amazing!! Simone is a phenomenal host, storyteller and trainer :) We made delicious pesto using the freshest ingredients and our hard work and energy. His enthusiasm for ensuring a wonderful experience was palpable. His whole team worked hard to ensure the best memories. The experience comes with lunch (meats, breads, cheeses, tomatoes) and wine. And the view!! The best of Manarola!
Julie Horne — Google review
This place doesn’t really need any more excellent Google reviews but yet here I am because they fully deserve it! So many places with a view like this rely on the view alone and put no effort or care into their food or service. Nessun Dorma is the exception. From the host at the main entrance, to every single member of wait staff, the service was 10/10! All so friendly, cheerful, welcoming and efficient. Food was delicious. The Tricolore Bruschetta was divine and three pieces were large and very filling topped with really fresh ingredients. Lots for one person! Aperol Spritz was perfect. Views are incredible, you will know that before visiting, but it’s the staff and standard of food that will make you want to return again and again. I also found the pricing excellent considering the location. Bravo Nessun Dorma! I look forward to your Pesto Experience Class later in the week.

If youre in Manarola, be sure to visit Trattoria dal Billy- known for its amazing seafood and dramatic views of the sea. Theres a bit of a wait to get seated, but it definitely worth it once you're there.
If you have only one day and you want to eat out and make it worth, this is your place. Not only the plage is really good value for money, but everything that we tried was very tasty. It is one of those places that when you look at the menu you wish you were a group of 10 so you could get everything on the menu. We were only 2 but we did pretty well. We did the selection of starters ( easily a selection of 8 tapas style of most of their starters) then we got pasta for 2 and a tuna steak. We struggled but we finished everything, and we accompanied the meal with a nice wine and dessert. We did pay a bit more than £100 so keep that in mind. Its not the cheapest place, but worth every penny. The service was impeccable. The only negative (to mention something) is that if you eat outside they don't have heaters for every table and it might get a bit cold.

As many others have said, this restaurant has incredible views. You do have to go uphill through the town to get there but it is worth it. The food was great, not the best we had in Italy but still very good. The restaurant was quite packed when we arrived for lunch, though we showed up without reservations they were able to seat us and informed us that as long as we finished by 2pm we would be okay. That was plenty of time for us to enjoy the food and view.

We tried the seafood sampler appetizer which was good but not great. Some samplers didn’t need to be there like the puff pastry with smoked salmon, whereas other plates were amazing and interesting to try like raw fish with sweet pickled onions. The pastas are amazing! Especially their signature Billy’s pasta. But the portions are huge! If only the pastas were more delicately plated with smaller portions, we would have loved to try more food but even the pastas were too much after the seafood sampler. Would definitely come back and try other dishes.

Very good restaurant in Manarola. Please reserve in advance. It is unlikely to get a table if you just walk-in. Possibly best location in the village to see the sunset while eating. May be that's why it is bit overpriced compared to portions. Food was very tasty. Staff is friendly and professional. Service was quick. Overall, I would suggest to visit if you don't mind spending some extra for luxurious view. One star less for smaller portions for price.

Idyllic water view, amazingly fresh seafood and wonderful service means a very special occasion for any visitor. Booked the AirBnB just uphill and explored Billy's menu with sheer delight. Be prepared for an exceptionally steep descent on steps down to the restaurant, but it's so worth it! No reservations available, so be first in line to get the best table!

We had a wonderful dinner. The food is tasty, the servings are large and the service was great. We had a table at the terrace with a view of the town and the sea. Its recommended to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

I'm not sure why but the food I had here was really bad compared to expectations. The view is really nice but the food was definitely not good quality. It might have been a different chef than usual, but the pictures of the food look completely different and much better than what we got. Take a look at the pictures of the food we got. The tuna was quite overcooked and the pasta had very little flavor, just salty. This restaurant is probably worth a try but maybe order one thing first to make sure you like it before you order more.

Beautiful setting nestled in the mountain with a sea view table. We did have to hike up to find this but it’s worthwhile. Family friendly. One star down because the lobster pasta we had, I felt had more pasta than lobster (compared to other photos I’ve seen in this review); and there’s only one restroom so there can be a long queue (with not a lot of spaces to queue), so can get a bit messy. But all in all, we had still enjoyed our experience. Waiters can speak so many languages!
Lehmann Family — Google review
One of the best meals we've had in Italy. We ordered the mussels, lobster pasta, and lemon sorbet. They were all very tasty. The lobster pasta is portioned for 2 and the portion is pretty generous. Getting there from the train station and port is quite a hike, a lot of stairs, so not extreme accessible for anyone who has mobility challenges. We arrived right as they opened and was able to get a table with no wait.
Ginny Tan — Google review
This place is located high up in Manarola which lends it to have unique views of the vineyards, town, and sunset. Definitely make a reservation as it's always busy! The food was delicious. I had caprese and octopus starters and the lobster special as the main. All very good. My only downside is that the sun can be strong during sunset, even with their shades. So bring some sunglasses for dinner.

Another very good restaurant. The pasta dishes were generous and the shaded table was welcome cover from the midday sun. The view was also fabulous. You’ll stumble across this unassuming place if you venture away from the main tourist drag. Arrive at noon sharp and you should be ushered to a table without reservation....

This is we’re we enjoyed our last dinner out in Tuscany. Reservation recommended if you want the best tables although most of the tables offer incredible views of Manarola. We enjoyed seafood and pasta along with a great bottle of wine. The service was very good with friendly knowledgeable servers. It is a steep walk up to the restaurant from the water but well worth it. The prices are at the higher end however most of the secondi can be shared.

Great place! We had late dinner reservations so we couldn't enjoy the view (definitely go for lunch or an early dinner!). The house wine was delicious and we got the pesto pasta for an appetizer. It was tasty but nothing showstopping. The seafood pasta was fabulous, though! Our only complaint was a few broken shells we unpleasantly chopped on, but it was nothing we couldn't handle. Overall, we're excited to go here again in the future!

Really lovely service from the team here! We made a booking for 7pm and at no point felt like we were rushed to leave. All the staff were attentive, amazing with their recommendations and took their time to describe each dish. The views at sunset were amazing! The lobster linguine had heaps of lobster and came with tools to crack open. I felt it could have been seasoned a bit better however once we mixed in the sweet tasting lobster meat with the linguine it was perfect! Highly recommend the mixed appetiser platter. Such a good way to experience lots of mini local dishes.

First of all AMAZING VIEW. Definitely worth the trek up. Best aperol spritz we’ve had in Italy so far. The Seafood Spagetti was amazing, as well as the daily special of Swordfish with Truffle Pasta, a bit small, so would suggest an appetizer. We had an incredible experience here, so happy we came. Would recommend getting a reservation a couple weeks beforehand. Cover charge is 3.50euro.

Food was really good here, and the views if you managed to secure a seat by the window is stunning! We ordered two portions of the lobster pasta to share and a side of octopus with potatoes and it was really good, and enough for the 4 of us! The owner seems like a very nice man, and spoke perfect English! The only two things to note is that the cover charge is quite high: €3.50 per person (other places are usually about €1.50 per person) and secondly, this place is situated quite high up and there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to this place! Other than that, I really enjoyed the food and would come back!

Very good dinner! We were so expected to be having seafood after such a long time and the dinner did not disappoint us. Everything is very fresh. I love the seafood pasta as it was so full of the seafood flavour and the grilled potatoes with tomatoes were very good too. Very attentive service and we went without a reservation but didn’t have to wait long (30mins) maybe bcos it’s low season now (my guess).

This is a gem. We really enjoy our dinner. We sat on the lower dinning room at night and it was very quiet and peaceful. Our servers were very friendly. They walked us through the menu and recommended wines. We had the seafood pasta and the spicy pomodoro pasta. They were both handmade and REALLY tasty. We also had the prosciutto and burrata with pesto—it goes well with the bread!

We had this place recommended by the owner of the apartment we rented. The restaurant is very cute with an amazing view. However, the food was not that great, we took the special of the day which was pasta with lobsters. The lobster was not fresh and chewy and the pasta although "fresh pasta" was not up to Italian standards with the sauce smelling fishy and the flavor was not that yummy. It was also very salty. At the end we paid 100 euros for a food that would only worth 10 euro. Very disappointed

We were lucky to get a table during lunch as we didn’t have a reservation. Came just before opening and glad we got a nice table with a view. Food was delicious!! Love the calamari and the squid ink pasta. Portion was too big, we couldn’t finish. The only downside was the waiting time for food.

This is a real gem, worth every step of the uphill trek from the waterfront of Manarola. We had a fantastic baked seabass (expertly and lovingly deboned by Julia - hope I got the name right), tagliatelle and potato salad. Their signature is crab and lobster spaghetti (huge portion, even for two) but it would be too much for us. If you get an outdoor seat, the view of the sea is a real treat.

Cappun Magru is a hidden gem tucked away above the main village of Manarola in the Cinque Terre region of Italy. The wine bar offers wine from all around Italy, as well as seafood and Mediterranean dishes. It's a perfect place to stop for a meal or drinks after exploring the villages nearby.
Wonderful little sandwich and wine shop with gluten-free bread options. The sandwich was fantastic, I was also convinced to have a lemon poppy cake (gluten-free) made by the proprietors mother who is gluten intolerant.

Not bad, but not super impressive either. Staff was really nice. We got the pesto gnocchi per recommendation from the reviews but it wasn't super wowing. Also the pasta was pre-made who knows when and simply microwaved right before serving.

A bit further up the road than the other restaurants, but well worth the hike. Really charming restaurant where everything is locally sourced. The rabbit ravioli is the best meal we've had so far in Italy! Not that large seating area, so if you're a big group it could be difficult to find space.

I stayed in Manarola few days last week, and I was lucky enough to find this cozy bar open. This spot was recommended highly by someone in town and it did not disappoint. The cappun magru dish (also name of this tiny restaurant) was the best meal we had during our stay. Super fresh and presentation was enticing. The owner explained its history and was super friendly. I advise going early for both a table and before they run out of the daily special. Just a few two tops in a tight space outside with a few more inside.

This was probably our favourite place we visited in our whole week in Italy. So much so, that we came here three times in four days. We had the cappun magru which was incredible, and tried three different sandwiches, of which the octopus was our favourite. Their pastries, cakes and coffees are also delicious. The staff were all so lovely and welcoming. The guy was also very knowledgeable about wine and gave some good recommendations on what to have with our lunch. It was also really nice to hear how much they focused on supporting small, local produce. A lot of restaurants in Cinque Terre were very much a tourist trap, so it was nice to see that this kind of place still exists.

This place reminds me of a Tuscan agriturismo I ate at once. Homey, cozy, absolutely delicious. I had the baked lemon rabbit special with an anchovies panino and a ginger cookie. Everything was super flavorful. The rabbit special was reheated to a lovely temperature and served with soft multigrain bread. The panino had marvelously toasted buns filled with roasted tomato, onion, and bell peppers that cut the saltiness of the anchovies perfectly. The ginger cookie was everything I've aimed for in my own cookies with small bits of minced ginger and perhaps a nut of some kind. So good. Go here. You won't be disappointed.

This place reopened as of 12/6, and we were lucky to catch it! Everything we tried was so fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy. I would check first if this place is open during the offseason, and if so, don’t go elsewhere!

As everyone else says, it's worth the walk up the hill! They have a daily selection of dishes based on local, seasonal ingredients. I had a dish with fresh anchovies, baked potato & tomato and it was the best thing I've eaten in Italy! There's a nice breeze that comes past the clocktower if you sit outside too.

Restaurant
Dau Cila is a charming, nostalgic establishment with classic fare and an outdoor seating area overlooking the water. The restaurant has a menu of local Ligurian dishes and an extensive wine list. On bad-weather days, it can be very tempting to spend a lazy afternoon here with friends or family. The food is excellent, with mouth-watering seafood options like fresh fish with potatoes and anchovy appetizer.
We didn’t have a reservation but the lady either she’s the owner or the manager greeted us and told us to come back at 7pm (regular dinner time). The food was of course homemade and so so delicious. The same woman was very knowledgeable about each dish and her recommendations were beyond description! We indeed enjoyed our dinner facing the ocean and tasting some local dishes. I definitely recommend this place!

We stayed at an apartment above the restaurant, had a late lunch, service was quick, lunch was great and tasty. Price are slightly more but you would pay for these price anywhere near a stunning location!

The best mussels I've ever had. Very attentive service. Eduardo was our server and took great care of us. I read many reviews stating that if you're a foreign visitor then you'd be mistreated. Not the case at all in our experience and we are so glad to have given this place a try. Service is prompt and top notch. Food is great. And prices very reasonable for a Michelin level restaurant.

Location is great, staff were either frantic or pleasant. It was very quiet thankfully. Over charger. You have to pay to sit there and for table water… there is a free water fountain 3 meters from the store. Pasta was great, tiramisu was average.

The seafood spaghetti was the best I've ever had or will have. I am rating it 5 stars mostly for that dish. So incredibly fresh and delicious. The pesto pasta was also good but too much pesto for me to finish and not nearly as notable as the seafood spaghetti. Quick service, decent house wine, great view and fresh yummy seafood.

I highly recommend eating here if you want a good seafood meal. Definitely make a reservation so you can get a table when they first open for dinner while the sun is setting over the sea. The seafood was fresh and the dishes were well executed, we will return the next time we are in Cinque Terre.

The restaurant has a lovely view over the port, great for lunch. We walked in without a reservation. The food was good. Service was okey. The steak was perfectly cooked. We had delicious lunch but then services started to be slow. We ordered desserts and waited for about 30 minutes. The waiter actually forgot our orders and had no apologize, we had to cancel desserts and asked for coffee instead because there was no time to waste on our one day trip. A bottle of water was charged for 3€ (unlike in France where you can ask for free). The price was reasonable for the restaurant with Michelin guide.

Delicious food in such a pleasant location in town! We came later in the evening on a Friday and had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The pesto was so so good and the tartar super flavourful. Generous portions too for classic local dishes.

The star of this meal was the view and the mixed seafood tapas entre. The meal cost 100 euro for 1 entre shared between 2, two pastas and 2 Aperol spritz, including a 4.5 euro each cover charge and 4 euro for filtered tap water. The view was delightful over Riomaggiore with the sunset, the seafood entre was small but very flavourful and the pasta was ok (although for the price you'd hope for great or better).

Absolutely gorgeous view! Fantastic food. Yes it’s a little pricey but it’s in a very exclusive location. They served us amazing food, very friendly efficient staff, we were a group of 4 (American & Canadian tourists) and they treated us very well. The anchovy appetizer was wonderful, the fresh fish with potatoes was delectable. The fish was delicate and tender and melted in your mouth like butter. Simply prepared pasta with anchovies and tomato was a favorite of our group. We loved it!

Great views and ambience with pretty good food (Michelin acknowledged). We booked a table here a few weeks in advance (it is usually fully booked for dinner). The menu is quite small but well formed. You might struggle for choice if you are vegetarian/vegan. We had the Trofie pasta with a delicious Pomodoro sauce (though pesto is the region's specialty) and the fish with mixed vegetables (type of fish wasn't specified). The fish was not good unfortunately. For dessert we got the Tiramisu (nothing spectacular, but nice) and the green apple sorbet (very delicious and refreshing!) The staff seemed quite rushed during our particular seating, but were overall pleasant. This place would probably be rated better if the food was a bit better honestly. Still a great location to eat dinner and watch the sunset.
