Pub
Restaurant
The Bears Paw is a charming establishment housed in a historic 17th-century building, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. It serves a variety of traditional pub food from around the world, alongside refreshing draft beers and features live sports broadcasts on TV. During lunchtime, visitors can enjoy quick snacks in a clean and orderly environment. While the outside is well-maintained, some tables inside could use better cleaning. However, the back room provides a pleasant spot to dine with prompt service.
One of the best pubs I've been two! Great food, great selection of drinks and food for that matter too. I also love the atmosphere here, and the staff are great amazing too!

Great pub....great service..... All the staff are super friendly.... Food is typical but very good.... Fish Tacos a must...

Visited today, beer quite expensive at £4.95. Only one Amber beer on sale, 2 other pumps not on. Bar staff denied there was a loyalty card until manager fetched some, not sure if its a training issue

Nice grade 2 listed Frodsham pub that was built in 1632. It's a popular place for a drink and meal. There's indoor and outside seating and a beer garden. It's only a short walk from the railway station, so it's handy if you fancy a few beers.
John Bashford — Google review
Had table booked for 1pm. Was full with people watching football. Got table next to TV - not ideal. Ordered drinks on app. Had to chase after 15 mins - staff confirmed but not printed. Ordered food on app - waited 45 mins! Mixed grills were smaller than typical for price. 1 (tiny - 2in per side, square, <1in thick) "steak" was literally just fat/gristle. See photo. All that's missing from what was there is a bit of flavour. Chicken was dry. Gammon was ok. Best thing was peppercorn sauce which we had to pay extra for. All in all very disappointing visit. Won't be recommending, or visiting again. Staff (2) were friendly enough but seemed over worked for number of customers. One was constant on bar, other switching between serving drinks and food.

Visited for a quick snack over lunch. Outside clean & tidy, inside tidy, though a few tables needed cleaning. Up steps to back room where I had snack, I cleaned my own table as there was food debris on it but was cleanest out of the ones in there. Ordered chicken wrap & latte. Food came prompt, and which I enjoyed. Staff member made latte exactly how I asked for it, perfect. Ordered mini choc brownie which was nice but would have been nicer with a bit of squirty cream as it was quite rich. Had another delicious coffee. All in all happy with service, staff member had good customer service and other staff seemed pleasant. 4 stars, due to tables not being cleaned properly.

Didnt eat here but the beer was great! Lovely beer garden that is very large! Plenty of seating, nice atmosphere in and outside. Good music, they had a DJ on who was very friendly and i think was running the quiz. Bar staff were really nice. Parking nearby. All in all, a nice little evening!

Met a friend here - first time in probably 20 years that I've been here. Staff were a little slow to response and serve, but friendly enough. Nice traditional old pub interior and atmosphere. Food pretty nice.

We went for a nice meal here for my husbands birthday in January. The pub was warm, busy and friendly. Staff were really lovely and service was very quick. Food was amazing and such a variety for a pub!! The outside looks gorgeous and we’re looking forward to being able to enjoy it in the summer £1 donation for parking, proceeds go to MacMillan. As a family affected by cancer it warmed our hearts and we knew it was going to be a fabulous place

If you're planning a trip to Cheshire Oaks, I highly recommend stopping by the charming town of Frodsham to experience the bargain of a Michelin Guide lunch at Restaurant Next Door. For just £32, you can indulge in a delightful three-course meal that includes options like beef shin, pork, and delectable sweet desserts. The establishment itself has an appealing aesthetic and the staff is friendly and attentive.
We went today for lunch. The atmosphere was fantastic. The service was really good. The food tasted wonderful and was so well presented. I would highly recommend trying this place out. The team have done a wonderful job creating a cosy and chilled place to go for a meal.

Stunning! We went last night and had the taster menu with accompanying wine flight. The food was outstanding. The service was impeccable. Definitely a lovely treat and the perfect evening.
L E — Google review
We visited for a celebratory lunch recently. Several of us are serious foodies and we enjoyed the meal. Despite enjoying two courses, the younger couple felt compelled to get a snack immediately after lunch suggesting that the portions, while tasty and beautifully presented, may be a bit meagre.
Dan Benatan — Google review
This place is stunning! We love the cosy atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff and the food is absolutely outstanding. We have been back several times and we will continue to visit!
Catherine Rayner — Google review
Really special food in a relaxed space with friendly and helpful staff. Stunning flavours with clever visual presentation made this a voyage of discovery. Excellent and reasonably priced wine list. Only grump main portions were very marginally on the small size.
Geoff Moffatt — Google review
We went at lunchtime last minute as part of a celebratory week. The first thought on entering is how quaint with open oak beams, but unlike other places these are real. Secondly was how reasonably priced the lunch menu is. It is slightly limited in the choice but frankly it made no difference the food was absolutely stunning as you would expect of Michelin Guide fare. In a rare event SWMBO had the cheese. Overall very happy and we will return to try the taster menu .

Wow, Fantastic. We came for lunch for my 50th and we weren't disappointed. Could not find fault in anything. We'll done everyone.

Truly an amazing experience. We went in on Saturday evening to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We had a tasting menu and one with wine pairing. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgable-especially about wine pairing. Food is a symphony in your mouth. A lot of different flavors. I love the vibe of the whole restaurant. You can see is made by people with passion.

Its a real rare treat to find such an incredible restaurant like this in a small town. The service here was second to none and all the service staff had an intricate understanding of every course. The restaurant is intimate and welcoming and the detail has clearly been considered to an exceptional standard. The food is unrivalled by any restaurant I've eaten at in Cheshire and the quality of the local ingredients and skill of preparation shines throughout. The head chef took time to visit the table to answer a question about one of the dishes too. The team accommodated my wife's allergies and the meal was not degraded in any way. It was an unforgettable meal and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
Simon Daniels — Google review
First class culinary experience. We went for a tasting menu, which was a journey through 7 different flavours, textures, and components. Each meal served on a hand made pottery, different for each meal. It was a memorable evening, good vibes in Next door. True gem on a map of Cheshire restaurants.

BARGAIN ALERT! If you’re taking a trip to Cheshire Oaks any time soon, I would strongly recommend dropping in to a little town called Frodsham for this bargain of a Michelin Guide lunch! 3 courses for £32!!! We had the beef shin 😱 pork 🤤 and both sweet dessert options 🥳 Everything was beautiful, staff were lovely and the place itself is really cute. This is my new must visit for every Cheshire Oaks visit (only 15 mins away)
Emily Lambert — Google review
Amazing food and wonderfully attentive, friendly service. We had the tasting menu with paired wines and cheese course and the whole experience was divine. Relaxing and unhurried. If you are in the vacinity of Frodsham or even if you're miles away, Next Door is somewhere that you definitely have to put on your 'have to visit' list!

The 4-star rating primarily reflects the quality of the food at Netherton Hall. The dishes, such as the delicious Beef and Ale Pie with ample extra gravy, and the Chicken Fajita Linguine with its delightful spicy flavor, were all enjoyable. However, if we were to consider the service separately, it would receive a 3-star rating. Some customers had to wait for seating and were given their table number only after getting their own drinks.
Travelled from Shrewsbury to meet up with family. Lovely clean pub. Good atmosphere. Food was lovely. Served quickly. And was piping hot. Staff very polite and courteous. Will definitely visit again.
Marilyn Howard — Google review
I really liked this place. The staff were all really nice. The pub is clean, well laid out and nicely decorated. Food was really nice - had a steak baguette and a local version of bread pudding. Prices are good considering the quality. I'd very happily go back.

Went for dinner with my niece and we weren't sure as we hadn't been before. We were served our drinks at our table soon after we arrived. Our waiter was Danny and he was amazing. I was surprised to see a scotch egg as a starter on the menu. Danny convinced me that this was no ordinary scotch egg and was served with a runny yoke. He was right! It was the most fantastic scotch egg I have ever eaten (and I have eaten a lot of scotch eggs) I had gammon as a main course and my niece had the steak baguette. The gammon was so juicy and tender. The baguette came with melted stilton which my niece can't eat but we were too busy gabbing and she forgot to ask them to leave it off. She told Danny and he said that it wasn't a problem at all. The new meal arrived within 5 minutes. Love, love, love this place and will definitely be going back there again. In fact we've got family visiting from Devon tomorrow and thinking about dinner there again so soon.

Pleasantly surprised - home cooked simple food. We really enjoyed our late lunch the food was tasty and plentiful. Service was a little rusty which is why only 4 stars. We were told by 1 waitress they only have 1 type of cheese, but when we asked a second waitor, he told us the opposite and kindly fulfilled our request.
PrimaLash Lashes — Google review
The 4 stars is more for the food. Which was lovely. Beef and ale pie lovely and plenty of extra gravy and Chicken Fajita linguine lovely flavour quite spicy. All lovely food. If I could star the service I would go for a 3. Had to wait to be seated (well told of a table number we had to find after getting our own drinks) and the atmosphere was a bit like a wake (it was a Sunday evening). And staff had not a lot of enthusiasm. Lovely food but flat experience. Would give it another go to see if it was just an off day. As every business has them.
Joanne Mackman — Google review
Lovely food, staff were great. The young man who waited on us couldn't do enough. It was mid week, so it was fairly quite, but busy enough to not feel alone.
Andrew Watson — Google review
Had first Sunday lunch at Netherton Hall, staff were really friendly and the service was quick, had only been seated for a few minutes and the drink order was taken and drinks arrived very quickly, food order was taken and after about 10 minutes roast arrived, plenty of meat and vegetables only small criticism is that the roast potatoes could have been a bit more crispy but they tasted good, would I go back ? Most certainly

Great food and service from a friendly team. Eight of us went for after work drinks and food. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food which was served promptly by attentive staff. We will definitely return.

Lovely home cooked food. Was initially disappointed that the duck had sold out but Danny recommended the steak pie. A great recommendation. Excellent. Full of meat and so tasty. Big portion and tasty. My.partner has the chicken stuffed with blue cheese which was equally as good. Service from Danny was excellent, friendly, prompt and efficient. Another young lady was also very good. Definitely be back and would recommend. So refreshing to find a pub which serves proper food backed up with such excellent service.

Nice location, and beautiful view from the garden. Many car spaces and it's free. Outdoor seating area has some cushioned seats and heating. Good value food, fair portions and loads of different options on the menu. We didn't have the dessert but looked very nice. Dog friendly. Great experience in a sunny day like today.

Bar
Kash 22 is an excellent choice for single female travelers seeking a satisfying pint, delicious food, and enjoyable entertainment. Unlike other pubs in the area that fell short, Kash 22 stands out with exceptional customer service, delectable dishes, and great drinks. This establishment provides everything one desires and requires all under one roof. It boasts live music performances alongside offering genuine ale and tasty meals. The beer garden may be slightly worn but remains tidy and includes two unisex restrooms.
Great food. We had a lovely Sunday roast with all the Family, for my husband's birthday. And the nachos are the best. Attentive and friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble. He had a lovely birthday. Thank you to the team at Kash.

We stumbled across this little bar last Saturday night. There was a gig on and it was packed but the atmosphere buzzed. The local artist had a great voice and good range of songs can't wait to go again

Really nice pub! Food was realky tasty. Had a burger and chips. Service was a little slow but only a couple if staff and it was busy. No big deal at all. Staff were very helpful ansd friendly. Decor was amazing, lots of memorabilia and photos. Parking is fine really close by. Decent music too. May have been a little loud but maybe im getting old, lol. Good tunes though, proper music!

Staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. The food was great, didn't wait too long either. The atmosphere was good, nice and chilled out for a Wednesday night but I can imagine on a busier night it has an even better atmosphere.

Yes! YES!! YES!!!! Single female traveller looking for a good pint, some good grub and a little entertainment. I'd tried the other pubs in the area, which were sub-par compared to this place. Kash 22 is the place to go! Everything, customer service, food, drinks were GREAT. I got everything I wanted and needed all in the one spot. If you are in the area, this is the place to go.
B Rotherham — Google review
Me and my wife went for dinner, looked at the new menu and thought 'brilliant new choices' however the burger I had 'kash stack' was like a rubber boot, dry no seasoning bland. Told the waiter 'if you can call him that' did nothing. Got the bill, said I left half the burger but got charged full price, his response was..... (YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR) I didn't want it free just a discount as it was not up usual standard, asked for the manger and he was as useful the rubber burger pointless! Forgot he apologised for the waiters attitude. But still not what we expected. Very disappointed. Won't be eating there again. Shame 😟

Been in here before. A live music venue that sells real ale and good food. Paulicarus had a bitter fron Hawkeshead and a Pale Ale from 7 Brothers. Went outside up to the beer garden. A little shabby but clean; incl 2 unisex toilets. Had chicken jerk x 3 and a beef chilli plus chips 3 ways. All good.
MADDOGLEP — Google review
Went for lunch at 12.30 on a sunday. The place was pretty much full by 12.45. We all had burgers and fries and they were all excellent. Superb selection of cask, keg and bottled beers as well as John Smiths smoothflow. Really friendly and attentive staff. Would recommend.
Phil White — Google review
One of my favourite pubs in Frodsham. The food is top quality pub grub. The staff make you feel very welcome and extremely helpful. If you like spicy food, I would recommend you try the hot doggy dog. It will test your taste buds!
Rob McPhee — Google review
Disappointed that the menu has changed and now gives you only two options to eat between either a burger or a hot dog. Doubt I will be coming back as certain items on the old menu were the main reason for me and my family always returning

The Travellers Rest pub offers a delightful dining experience for families. Despite initial concerns about the timing, the service is exceptional. The appetizer of bacon and black pudding stack showcases the quality of the black pudding. Not only is the food outstanding, but the staff's attentiveness and pleasantness leave a lasting impression. The Guinness arrives with a shamrock, adding to the overall experience. The manager goes above and beyond to assist patrons.
So we popped in for Sunday lunch. Brilliant view good price. Staff were brilliant with our daughter next level. The black pudding starter is amazing. Good food good staff nice location.

I love this pub and its views over the Cheshire plain. It’s everything a lovely, family friendly pub should be. The new menu has so many options I wanted to try on my first visit it took me ages to choose. That’s a great start in my book. Elektra the chef and manager is so passionate about what she does. She’s done all of the redecoration and the pub feels much cosier and it was really warm and welcoming. We went for the Quiz on Wednesday night and had dinner beforehand. For those of you who don’t have the time they provide EPIC chip butties in the break at the quiz which disappeared in seconds to help us with our brain power! It clearly worked as we won. It was lots and lots of fun and cheered me and my sister up immensely. Dinner was delicious as you can see from the photos. I’m going back asap with my taller better half to dive into the burger menu and fish options. My sister will be back with her young family as she thinks it a a great place for a family meal as Harry her ten year old loves calamari and you can’t get any in Frodsham. Bella will love the cheese burger or pizza and the adults will have pie.

Ok.really, mushrooms for starters Hmm I'd think rice. Lasagna was nice enough. Not the best Boddingtons I've had. Staff are OK.

Can’t recommend trying out the new menu at The Traveller’s Rest enough! The Vegetabke Penang curry was delicious. But there was so many other dishes we want to try! The tall one and I were spoiled for choice. For starters we had BBQ chicken wings and Prawns - lush. Jackie, Alison, Steve and the rest of the team are doing a fabulous job. Go and try it out! We need to support our local businesses.
Ema Linaker — Google review
Have been here a few times as we like to camp out nearby and have been underwhelmed . On reading that it was now under new ownership and judging by the good reviews we decided to give it one last go. What a transformation. I will start at the bar, a good selection of premium lagers and the old faithfuls plus a couple of cask beers. Couldnt decide whether to chance it on the cask so the Barmaid pulled me a sample of each to test , still slightly apprehensive. I ordered the pale ale with the assurance that if I wasn’t happy with it then just bring it back and she would replace it with a lager of my choosing free of charge. How’s that for service ! Now onto the food. We ordered the salt and pepper chicken skewers as a starter to share , just as well as it would probably constitute as a meal In itself on its own. Delicious. For mains I ordered the steak and guiness pie and the wife ordered the fish and chips. Best fish and chips we have had since Whitby and the pie was as good as I have ever had and believe me I’ve had a few. Staff so attentive without being over intruding . Doing all the right things. A winning formula as far as I am concerned. Highly recommend.

ALLERGEN REVIEW: COELIAC/GF My partner and I visited last night for food and drinks. My partner made the reservation and the person taking the call asked if they needed to be aware of any allergies. Partner told them I’m coeliac and person on the phone understood that meant I’d need gluten free. This made me feel super safe from the get go as I’m still used to places not understanding coeliac. On arrival we were greeted by Mike and settled in with drinks. I spoke with Mike about the menu and the HUGE range of GF items. I opted for maple and mustard chorizo, beer battered fish and chips (partner had the steak), and to finish: chocolate brownie. I did double check about the “beer-battered” fish being GF and that it was definitely GF beer used. Mike and the chef both confirmed this. I felt very reassured, especially when Mike told me the chef was cleaning everything down to ensure it was free from cross contamination. Then, the little GF sticks and the chef serving me food herself - I was very happy that it was being taken so seriously. The food itself was amazing. The chorizo starter was a perfect starter to share as there was so much! Nice chunky bits with lots of the marinade in the bottom of the pot for dunking. The fish and chips (small!!!) was a great portion size, nice crisp batter and fish that just melted. My partner tried some and he said it was better than some gluten containing fish and chips he’s had 😂 dessert: again big portion size and again, glad we shared as we didn’t really have room for it but I’m a sucker for a brownie! After our meal, we spoke with Mike about how they were new owners and he explained that the chef specialises with allergens and it’s something that they’re proud of - and rightly so. I wouldn’t expect a country pub to be so knowledgeable but I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you so much. We will definitely visit again and recommend to ALL ❤️

Visited with the family on a Saturday evening. Despite thinking the timing would be a detriment, the service was brilliant. I ordered bacon and black pudding stack to start as a change - made me really appreciate black pudding as it was superb. Despite the food being top notch, the attentiveness and pleasantness of the staff sticks with me more. The Guinness came with a shamrock. Result.

Absolutely fabulous food. Service was amazing too. Manager couldn't do enough to help us. Stayed at local glamping site with a short walk to the pub.. I would definitely drive from my home in Liverpool just for one of there gorgeous meals. We went on a Saturday evening and then we loved it that much we booked for Sunday roast.

Another exceptional night at the Travellers! We enjoyed a picturesque stroll through Hobby Woods, barely touching the road, and our furry companions couldn't get enough of it. Coupled with great beer, delicious food, and outstanding service, it was an unforgettable experience under the new management's guidance!

What a remarkable transformation! I recently visited the Traveller's Rest with my family, and I must say, the positive changes are impressive. The new management, despite facing challenges with an outdated kitchen and broken appliances, has turned things around big time. On several occasions since the new owner took over, we’ve enjoyed excellent meals that surpassed our expectations. The trio of sausages meal, in particular, was delicious. The dedication of the new management is evident not only in the food but also in the upgraded selection of fantastic beers! The contrast with the previous management is stark, and it's clear the place is now on a positive trajectory. Kudos to Electra for her hard work and commitment to delivering a great experience. We look forward to our next visit!

We went for Sunday lunch here, I love dogs however it smelt of dogs a little too much which can put you off your food, my roast was nice you got plenty, wasn’t keen on boiled parsnips though, my friend is vegetarian they gave her literally a plate of mostly kale for her roast dinner. Kids menu wasn’t much choice. Prices weren’t too bad luckily, staff were nice

Went for a celebration meal with family. The decor has been upgraded and looks stylish and pleasant. The owner was front of house and greeted us on arrival. We had a good table in the window and the traditional fire burning in the grate was a welcome touch. We had drinks & food, the food was tasty, hot and nicely presented, everyone enjoyed what we had. The owner was pleasant and attentive throughout, taking time to chat wine with older family member. We will be back!

Lovely little country pub with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. The log burning fire adds to the cosy and relaxed feel. More importantly the food was amazing. My partner wanted another steak & ale pie as it was the best he had ever eaten. I highly recommend a visit.

Had heard good things about this place since the new guys took over. Saw the new menu and decided to give it a try, we are so, so pleased we did! From the moment we walked through the door, everyone was so welcoming. There was a fantastic atmosphere. The food is out of this world. All fresh and homemade. We will most definitely be coming back again and again, and we will highly recommend to everyone to try it too!
