The Kirti Mandir in Porbandar is a museum that showcases the life of the famed nationalist leader who was born there in 1869. The place is good and birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi... Many posters and frames about his life and his key moments ..theres a book store where you get books on him... Washrooms available inside... Vehicle not allowed near by due to small lane .. one has to walk 10 mins from parking ... Rickshaw ply in the lanes ..

The museum displays items used by Gandhi, life size paintings of Kasturba and Gandhiji by Shri Yutt along with some old photographs, and houses a library of books either written by Gandhi or relating to his philosophies. Okay place if you want to put as if you went here. Very informative, just like your grade 5th to 8th history books. Same old pictures and stories. Just few dolls he used to play with. Very hot and unpleasant.
The birthplace of Gandhiji is definitely worth a visit. But few things to keep in mind. This place is in a very dense and crowded market place so parking is very tough to find and also very difficult to navigate here. Please plan in advance or taking a rickshaw is the best option here.

The museum is dark and dusty. There is a memorial to Kasturba Gandhi - the way to it is littered with garbage. Attached pictures will illustrate this. Staff were uninterested and on their phones
The approach to the Mandir is through a congested locality with extremely narrow streets. Walking here is advisable. The approach roads are very very dirty and strewn with garbage.
Can't help but recollect Gandhi's views on cleanliness. He would most certainly be distressed.
Very well maintained historical place. There are so many things to watch and learn.
The place is well maintained from inside and all the information is provided perfectly. But the neighbouring area is hopeless and pathetic and there is horrible smell everywhere. As we were a group of 18 we had to use the auto rickshaw as tempo are not allowed inside. All in all nothing great to visit.
Mahatma Gandhi's birthplace is called 'Kirti Mandir' and is situated in a very busy, narrow and congested road in Porbandar.
The property has been taken over and maintained by archeological department. The place has been developed in to a tourist spot by conjoining a photo gallery and gift shop as a complex combining Gandhiji's birthplace.
Gandhi's ancestral house was one of the biggest houses of his time and his parents used to be very rich. Exact birth place of Gandhiji has been marked by a 'swastik' sign inside his house and a full size portrait of Gandhiji is placed near the swastik mark. Entry is free to this house and photography is also allowed.
The best way to go to this place is by an auto rickshaw since there is NO parking facility available.
The paternal house of Kasturba Gandhi is also nearby Gandhiji's birth place and have been connected by a narrow walkway for the ease of tourists. The distance to Kasturba's house is hardly 200 meters through the walkway from Gandhiji's house. Kasturba's house is even bigger than Gandhiji's house in terms of number of rooms, kitchens and facilities of that time including an Indian toilet. Both the houses are nearly 200 year old.
Amazing Place it was. Such a calm and peaceful place to visit. The collection of Gandhiji's things was wonderful and worth it to see.
It was a pleasant experience to visit this place. The home of Mahatma Gandhi. It is very well maintained. The museum and the book gallery are the main attractions. You get some wonderful works of Mahatma Gandhi at a very discounted price from here. They do have a washroom and drinking water facility in the premises. One should visit this place for sure.

Kirti Mandir is not basically a temple of God as the name suggests but the place of birth of Mahatma Gandhi ji in Porbandar, Gujarat. I visited Kirti Mandir on 10-12-2023. This historic place is located in a very congested & dirty locality. There is no cleanliness at all.
Apart from few historical photographs, pictures, writings etc, the main attraction of this place is the room where Gandhi ji was born.
The toilets located within the premises for tourists are only worth their name. They were absolutely dirty, unusable, filthy and small.

Birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and the memorial structure constructed here is good. The place has a small museum, books, drinking water, restroom facility. Not far from this place there is house of Kasturba ji. The road leading to this place is very congested. So you will have to park your vehicle someplace far and walk this road. Lots of school kids visit during weekdays and weekends.

Huzoor Palace, constructed by the last Maharaja of Porbandar, Rana Natwarsinhji in the early 20th century, is still utilized as a residence for his successors and is not open to the public. The palace showcases European architectural influences with Neoclassical colonnades and a slanting roof. Visitors can admire its grandeur from outside while enjoying views of the Arabian Sea.

Really nice place to visit, closed but you can see the beauty of the palace from outside, there are too many windows and lots of mystery, The prince's family is located in London but they visit once a time in a year, they have maintained area/rooms for stay.

Good old palace to visit near chopati. You can't go inside and only view from outside. Many times in the morning pre wedding shotlots happens outside this palace.

You will find all the species right here at a stone's throw. Very well maintained and heavily protected on the periphery by high walls and gates with very active and co operative guards keeping an eye on our winged immigrants and passage guests alike with our resident birds. This beautiful little aviary caught me by utter surprise! As I entered, I skimmed across all the birds I was documenting for 2 days at the surrounding wetlands of the city. Pat I began my ebird checklist and started adding flamingos, pelicans, stints, gulls, stilts, ibises, spoon bills, cormorants, Sandpiper, herons, egrets, geese, ducks, grebes, shovellers, pintails, terns, gulls, shelducks, shanks, storks and many more. Sighting big flocks of cranes and demoiselles here was a lifer! As it was sunset time, it was a spectacle to witness huge flocks of big birds coming in for roosting. And the tiny swifts, swallows and martens made a pretty sight hovering over the little lake in scattered groups.
Gujarat forest department is leading in bird protection and conservation in the country. No wonder our feathered friends find it so safe to be in the middle of a bustling city, to come in large numbers and spend their warm winters without a worry.
The sanctuary has very well maintained restroom, a gazebo for relaxation, picnicking, workouts or yoga, a watch tower to feast your eyes on the beaked beauties with your binoculars or spotting scopes or photograph them up super close with your lenses.
There's a well maintained walkway along the length of the lake with pictures and names of birds found in the lake to educate visitors.

Spotted atleast 4 different species of birds here. Infra needs upkeep. A lot of trees and branches have come into the walkway after the storms. Was saddened by plastic garbage spread on the brink of the lake.

A small lake amidst the concrete of Jungles , and there plenty of birds in open habitat . Just exhilarating . In Porbandar ,I liked the bird sanctuary the most .there are sufficient places to sit , a watchtower is there to see the beautiful birds . First time in my life , I saw pink flamingo , that also in mid April , and was super excites to spot them . A paradise for not only bird watchers but for every visitor ..

Very nice place a small one not popular is a must visit if u love birds. See it in morning opens at 8AM closes at 6PM no entry cost very calm and serene place. See if u can carry binoculars to get a proper glimpse of birds. Do carry a good camera too.

Tara Mandir, also known as Nehru Planetarium, is a popular tourist attraction in Porbandar, Gujarat. It features a theater that projects celestial bodies of the galaxy, making it an enjoyable destination for visitors of all ages. The planetarium was constructed with the support of Nanjibhai, an Arya Samaji who employed Dalits despite protests by Brahmins.
These people come to visit from other cities, states and countries, this is an exciting feature of Porbandar. It is a place where stars are visible during the day, people who are very interested to see, here the inside is darkened and the stars are shown during the day with the technique.

It's one of the best places to visit in Porbandar district. You can watch the show there between 8.30 to 12.00 and then from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm. And a minimum ofn15 members compulsory. Otherwise we have to wait for others to come or pay for 15 members. No eatables are available there. But the show is very good. Mainly for the children. It's explanation is in Hindi.

It needs to be renovated, The planetarium is way too old now. It needs to improve so it can attract more and more people and educate them about our planet.
The worst experience ever. Waste of time and money. They don't respect and value people who are visiting. They did not start the show saying that it needs 25 people. We were 15 people in total but they made us wait for 01:30 hours to start the show but at the end they said no that they will not start the show anyways and asked us to buy more tickets to complete 25 people. They just want money nothing else. Such bad people and management.😡😡🤬😤
It's not that upto mark.. At once, only 20 ppl are allowed inside.. Per person ticket cost is 8rs.. There's small Mueseum outside which is worth watching.. But I felt, the planetarium is little boring as the person explains things which most of us know.. May be this is good for kids who are beginners in this field
It is one of very old planetarium of India. Small capacity room about 50 persons. Doesn't show much details of the space. The guide will say inform you about the things in Gujarati only. Worth one visit.

They will switch off lights of a domed room and with help of machine create spot with seems like stars in wall.

Place is full of pilgrimage who are on char dham yatra going from dwarka to somnath and want to have break in between in porbandar.

Very nice beach . Amazing beach. Really enjoyed a lot there. I was actually visited porbandar first time so my friends ask to see beach and we went there. It was amazing evening and beach and sea was very very beautiful. I spent Around 1 hour in beach also there was a sitting area and walking trails. So many peoples come for walking . People comesa for sitting and spent time there. Evening was very beautiful. Also there was a swimming coaching classes there . Boats and all . But cleanliness was the best things .i like it

If you are looking for peace and quiet, visit Porbandel Beach. Amazing sunset and sunrise views. This route is perfect for walking or jogging. There is also a shop offering snacks.
There are free toilets on the beach. There are hotels nearby with beach views. You can observe various birds there. It's a great place to visit and there's also a swimming academy here where you can teach swimming.
Most Gujrati come in the evening to walk or run. It's a good place to attract the masses.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at National Restaurant , and it was a meat lover's paradise. This restaurant truly knows how to satisfy your carnivorous cravings. From the moment I walked in, the inviting aroma of grilled meats filled the air, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience
We had chicken briyani here. Half briyani for Rs 150. Taste is good.
Normal water jugs are not properly cleaned. So need cleaning in restaurant.

Great place to have Non Vegetarian food. Very clean and comfortable ambience. The staff are very caring, conscious and polite. The food is very very tasty unlike other places in Saurashtra where the tasteless non veg is available in shanty shacks.

As a traveller only place to visit for Non - veg solace. I ordered fish ( Surmiya & pomfret). Both were excellent. Where as my friends ordered mutton and chicken kabab. They were also good. Egg fried rice was excellent. Also must try is chach(milk product; good for digestion) with gigri( masala)
'National' is one of the very few restaurants in Porbandar where we get non-veg food.
We get almost all types of non-veg items here like, South Indian, North Indian, Punjabi, Chinese etc. It would be a surprising factor that many of the hotels and lodges here, where we find some non-veg dish in their menu, are also supplied food from here.
Rate is comparatively normal and taste of dishes is also good or above average.
There is adequate seating space inside the hotel for family, but car parking is to be done on the crowded main road.
Nice non-veg restaurant for all non-veg guys reaching Porbander for a quick visit. After a quick visit to Kirti Mandir and Sudama Mandir, we went to National Restaurant for our lunch and were treated to some of the best non-veg dishes we had in Gujarat. Thanks a lot for the hospitality. The restaurant has enough place for family as well group of single males. I would recommend this restaurant, especially for Bengalis, who come to Gujarat for a trip and are parched for non-veg options. Both chicken and mutton dishes are available here.
We really enjoyed a good meal of non veg after a long spell of veggie food.. amazing fresh tasty and very palatable highly recommend. The Pomfret was excellent and the mutton recommend there was amazing..

Very good food, just outside of porbandar railway station. I ate gujarati thali at noon consist of 3 vegetables, kadhi, chatni, salad, buttermilk and as much roti and chawal as you need. It cost only 100 rs. The food is tasty.

Food quality was also good and serve hot. It also includes salad. But place is small. But I think this restaurant closed after 2 or 3 pm. This thing is major draw back. Very close to railway junction this is plus point.

superb seafood, great ambience, clean, well air conditioned, nice fine dining. perfect for a date, a family meal, or a highway lunch. probably the only restaurant of its grade in a huge radius so you should definitely not miss this on a long drive! the fish curry was succulent and very different from anything I've had before. if I'm driving by again, I'd plan my journey so that I can stop here at a meal time!

I've been there for few times !! And its good option for families as porbandar don't have much non eg restro options other than this and national ! But this one wins for family dinner lunch ! They served Amazing pomfret fry !! I highly recommend it bcs it was very delicious!! We had three dishes chicken lolipop as a starter and prawns fry and pomfret fry, all of them were pretty fresh and good !! But i didn't like the masala of prawns that much! Other than masala it was good ! If you're ordering anything fried then worry not there'll be lot masala ! It wouldn't be dry for sure !! Service was great too !! I only gave 3 stars on the basis of their ambience and it looked like its closed from outside bcs of simplicity!! I add one more star in review bcs price was pretty decent as pomfret and prawns are pricey but they only cost 350- 370 so it deserve 4 ⭐

At Siddhi Restaurant, we decided to try the Gujarati Thali and were pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality and taste of the food. This cost-effective establishment provided an amazing dining experience that should not be missed if visiting Porbandar. Additionally, their banquet hall proved suitable for hosting engagement ceremonies with a capacity of 150 people.

We had organize engagement ceremony of my sister in banquet hall. It is good enough for 150people gathering. And food was also very nice specially we had ordered dum aloo. It was awesome.
Food was good with its pricing range but the dining area needs to hygienic and restrooms needs to be tidy and not stinking with foul smells.

1) tomato soup: felt soup was mixed with chashni
2) handi biryani: was not a handi biryani but veg biryani with some colour
3) butter kulcha: insted of crispy it was rubbery
4) paneer butter masala: it was the only thing i liked and tasted good
5) butter tawa paratha: was ok ok
6) garlic naan: again rubbery and hard to chew even when it was hot.

This is the best restaurant in Porbandar. It's food is actually very delicious. Every time I visit to Porbandar I surely visit this place. The Aalloo Tikki Chat is my favorite. And actually the taste of food brings you back here again and again. There is this blue Ocean drink which I used to love there.

I asked them to get the glass cleaned for me which they said that the glass is already cleaned and they are operating as per their company policy. They keep the glasses upside down on the mat placed on the table, which was dirty and unhygienic.
