Cafe
Restaurant
When inquiring about dining options, local shopkeepers highly recommended Cafe Bluebell, which proved accommodating to a party of seven. Despite initial concerns about seating availability, the staff willingly rearranged reservations to ensure everyone could dine together. The menu boasted a satisfying variety of dishes that pleased all patrons upon arrival. The portions were generous and the food was freshly prepared. A chicken salad stood out as particularly impressive, as it exceeded expectations and even pleased a typically selective teenager.
Consistently good and friendly service from well mannered and efficient staff. Food always delicious high quality and nicely presented - high standards of cleanliness - comfort and tasteful decor! A family favourite for a wknd treat- Thank you

Great Breakfast, good coffee, filling and hit the spot after getting the ferry from Islay first thing. The Prices were also very reasonable and I'll be back to try a lunch item soon.

When asked about places to eat Café Bluebell was the one all the local shopkeepers recommended. As we were a party of seven we thought they might struggle to accommodate our party. However, they were very accommodating, and moved a reservation to another table to let us all eat together. The menu had a good selection, and we were all pleased with our choice when it arrived. The portions were a good size, and it was all freshly made. I had the chicken salad, and can say that it's the first time I've had one that didn't in some way disappoint. Even the very picky teenager ate all her meal and that doesn't happen often. If I ever visit Campbeltown again, this is where I would definitely go to eat.

Nice welcome by nice people Soup was delicious on a cold day after a long motorcycle ride

Reasonably priced. Fresh food, served in a timely manner by pleasant staff. Very clean but needs background music.
Crowthius — Google review
Food was good, service was good, price was good. We had fish & chips, macaroni cheese decent too, and nachos were all really good. Haddock was massive, nachos toppings was generous.
Adz — Google review
Love this quaint and cozy cafe. And surprisingly, had one of the best chicken curries I’ve ever had. Even better than at Gagan’s… something about it is that’s genuinely authentic, which exemplifies the personality of this place and this town.

Excellent lunch today. Mac n cheese was a great portion and reasonably priced. Toasted sandwiches are great too. Busy when we entered, and thats a good sign.Lovely setting on the waterfront too.
Alistair Ferguson — Google review
Best place to eat in Campbeltown! I had the most delicious fish & chips! The small portion was enough to fill me up for lunch! The service was superb, staff was wonderful, restaurant was really clean. This is definitely the gem at Campbeltown!
Victoria Riddell — Google review
Went in with my family. All happy with the chosen sizes of fish and chips! My chicken curry with rice and chips was amazing. Staff were great. Only drawback was the size of the men's toilets: wouldn't have been able to fit the large fish and chips in to those confined quarters! Good job there was no need with the comfortable window seats that we were given.
John Wilson — Google review
Treated to lunch by a very kind friend. I had new York beef burger and my wife had macaroni. Both were delicious and I was so full I couldn't go for a few pints elsewhere afterwards as was my plan.
David Harvey — Google review
Brilliant value excellent, quality of food I was watching all the meals come from the kitchen and each one I wished I had chosen that instead. I do eat with my eyes. Courteous staff and a very nice atmosphere this is my new regular cafe….
Edward Zubrzycki — Google review
We've ate here a few times. And we're very impressed. It has been very busy at times, but we were seated quickly. Staff have always been very friendly and proficient. Food is very very good, both in taste/ portions and in value. Love this place, a delightful experience!
John Craig — Google review
This has to be the best breakfast I've had in a long long time. Amazing value as you get toast and your tea or coffee along with a full English all for £10.
Karyn Hemphill — Google review
Service was fine. Staff seemed rushed but pleasant. In fairness it was pretty busy. Breakfast was mediocre and my fried egg was brick hard while my wife's was nice and soft. The table we had for 4 couldn't take the 2 kids meals and 2 breakfasts and not because of the portion sizes but because it was tiny. Sausages were done in the deep fat fryer for certain which isn't ever ideal. The place was clean and friendly. Decent views over the harbour. Overall not unpleasant, but could have been nicer.

Harbourview Grille is a pleasant eatery located in the heart of Campbeltown, close to the harbor. The waiting staff are friendly and attentive, providing excellent service. The portion sizes are generous, with one must-try dish being the famous Haggis Nachos, although it's advisable to share due to their size. Additionally, the bar offers a good selection of whiskies and local beers.
Food was amazing large portions so was filled up very happy and service was so kind and friendly would recommend

Great restaurant in the heart of Campbeltown! Had the Hot salmon & mussels linguini and my other half had the chicken tenders. Decor is very upmarket & I thought I was dining somewhere much more expensive. Staff were friendly and accommodating, especially as we were a walk-in. Would 100% recommend.
Ellen Walmsley — Google review
Nice place, cousy. At lunch time, I noticed plenty of women sitting while there were not men. The burger was very good but the bun a bit dry.

Food was delicious... very tasty and piping hot. One of our party is coeliac.. and staff talked him through the gluten free options and double checked with the kitchen.... Staff were friendly and courteous. Portions were a decent size..
Liz Arkison — Google review
Nice restaurant in the middle of Campbeltown down by the harbour. Waiting staff were very welcoming and attentive. Huge portion sizes, the World Famous Haggis Nachos are definitely worth an order, although would recommend sharing! Good whisky selection behind the bar, along with local beers.
Nicholas Pearce — Google review
One of the cozier restaurants in Campbeltown with both typical pub grub and a few more creative dishes to change things up. The staff was kind enough, too. The quality of the food was good, but no ‘wow factor’. Many restaurants in hotels in rural Scotland tend to be not very cozy. This restaurant has a nice seating area and stands apart in this aspect.
Pepijn Otte — Google review
Very good restaurant in Campbeltown. Real cotton napkins you get water and complimentary bread and olives. The world famous Haggis Nachos plate is a must to try.
Johan Andersson — Google review
I don't know what happened to this place but the quality of the meals are so low. They using off the shelf ingredients. Tastes really bad. My children can cook better. No quality ingredients are used here. Don't bother

Pub
Restaurant
On a Sunday evening, the atmosphere at The Black Sheep Pub was calm and tranquil in contrast to the bustling restaurant which was fully reserved. I had the opportunity to try their chicken cajun tagliatelle, a dish previously unseen on their menu. I must confess that it was truly delightful, with the perfect blend of warm cajun spices combined with generous portions of succulent chicken, peppers, and onions.
When I was in (a Sunday evening), it was quiet in the bar, but the restaurant was fully booked. I tried the chicken cajun tagliatelle. It's the first time I've seen it on a menu. I must admit, it was delicious. The warmth of the cajun spices, mixed with lots of chicken pieces, peppers, and onions. If you get a chance, try it
James Stewart — Google review
Fabulous food and lovely staff ... would give them 10 stars if I could
Jo F — Google review
I’ve had to rate 1 star for everything as I was not allowed to eat inside with the dog. I understand if the restaurant chooses this but surely the pub attached could have a dog friendly table or two. Very disappointed so walked to the Ardshiel hotel and was welcomed with the dog. Fab food too!
Angie Smith — Google review
I enjoyed this pub. Comfy. Quick service.
Glenn Berntson — Google review
Popped in for lunch whilst exploring the area and thoroughly enjoyed it. Sat outside with the dogs looking over the harbour. The barman was excellent - really courteous and attentive. Food was a very good standard. Definitely recommend.
Elizabeth Mackay — Google review
UNBELIEVABLE "SERVICE"! I entered the pub at 8:15 pm and asked if I could still get some food. The barman said that he will have to check as the kitchen closes at 9!? He then poured 2 beers for some of the 4(!) people sitting at the bar. After 3 minutes with me standing in front of him, he finally called the kitchen and told me that I can get food and handed me the menu. I had a quick look and told him what I wanted to order. He said he would have to finish pouring the beers first and then come back to me. After 5 more minutes (still standing right in front of this person) I left this place.
Dr. Gernot T. Dambacher — Google review
Enjoyed a lovely meal here with my family. The food was so fresh and delicious, the kids menu is also great. The staff are also very friendly and accommodating!
Emma Taylor — Google review
Probably not a great time of day - we visited at 3pm on a Weds. Bar staff was on a word fast. Completely monosyllabic....are you serving food "yes", do you have a menu "yes". Then turned out the pub is not dog friendly- although listed as such (and we were directed there by a cafe who were not dog friendly). Made our apologies and sat outside. Asked for a water bowl for the dog. Then had to ask for water!!! Hard work but the Irn Bru was excellent! Nice interior and clean toilets and I am sure it is much better in the evening.
Claire Deegan — Google review
Nice and friendly. Standard beers and... Haggis Nachos! Well worth a try, even if you haven’t had haggis before. Gets a bit busy most nights, so get in early.

Great cosy authentic pub! I can absolutely recommend the Haggis Nachos - DUDE, those were tasty! They were the best Nachos I've ever had. Gotta try out those! Apart from that, good service and an actual coal fire in the fire place warming your back. It's a place to go in Campbeltown!

Very friendly and professional help from the barkeeper, ordered food, was warned that the portions were big, he wasn't lying. He forgot to say that the food was excellent, well done!

Ardshiel Hotel, located in Campbeltown, offers casual rooms with picturesque views of the loch and mountains. Housed in an 1877 building, the hotel provides complimentary breakfast and features a whisky bar for guests to enjoy. Situated in a rural setting, it is within walking distance of Campbeltown Ferry Terminal and Coastal Design. The hotel boasts a restaurant serving lunch and dinner, as well as room service during limited hours.
The staff are so helpful, friendly and accommodating, who made it a fantastic trip for our group. The bar has a fantastic selection of whisky and the kitchen cooked up some lovely meals. Ideal location for walking into town, to the harbour or along the sea front. Very highly recommended and a big thank you to everyone for a memorable stay.
Dan Errington — Google review
We came here for dinner after a local lady reccomended it to us. She did advise us to book, and I definitely agree with her! The hotel dining rooms were packed, even at seven o'clock. As it was so busy, and the meals are prepared from scratch, we did wait a little while, but it was so worth it. I definitely reccomend the Roast Chicken! All food was very delicious, and considering that it was so busy the staff looked after us well, checking in regularly. I think that for what we received (very tasty food) the prices were fair and pretty average. We are especially impressed with the staff, as they kept on top with so many covers. Very nice!
Hermione Gerrard — Google review
Only in for dinner so cannot comment on rooms. Public areas very clean & well presented. Restaurant very busy so service slightly slow but staff really pleasant & food excellent, no issues with waiting.
Alison Hay — Google review
Nice hotel with maybe the best selection of whisky in the area. Great service and good food. Unfortunately the rooms are not that new, see bathrooms. And heating is not working properly especially on the third floor.
Lui42 — Google review
Overall fantastic hotel. Amazing selection of Scotch at the bar at reasonable prices. Breakfast was good and worth the extra charge. Dinner was also very good quality and a good portion. Have a wander around and admire all the wonderful bottles on the wall.

Only ate there but went back as liked it so much first night! FAB menu at excellent prices. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend. Looks much better inside than it might appear from outside...don't be put off

Just popped in for a quick meal and glad we did. Staff were very good and the food was excellent, will defo be back.
Kevin Bates — Google review
Very nicely decorated very friendly staff great choice of whisky. I thought the food was not the best I had the chicken katsu burger Itwas ruined by the overwhelming onion slaw slapped all over it..my friend had the baked ham with pineapple cream sauce the be honest I would not feed this to the dog it didn't look presentable when it arrived and would of been much better with a gravy than a watery sauce
DJ sutherland — Google review
We had a wonderful family room and the staff were lovely, very helpful and great with the children. The whole place was spotless, the breakfasts were great. We used the function room on one of our evenings there, the food was delicious and the service was very good. So many whisky options available!
jennifer arnold — Google review
Rooms are okay, staff friendly and helpful, food was nice. Great selection of whisky 700+ Room was expensive, we asked on speck after having to leave the Dellwood due to it being dirty. But it seems all the local area was, due to location they can charge what they want. Did feel like we were being taken for a ride, Scotland is a very expensive place to visit now compared to our last visit.
Dave Sheridan — Google review
Given that the Ardshiel is an institution in Campbeltown we were excited to stay but other than the whisky bar (incredible selection with very fair pricing) we were underwhelmed by the food, service and especially the rooms (renovated, but to the bare minimum standards with very uncomfortable beds). In the end if we'd gotten some cheer or a smile from at least one staff member that could have helped us to overlook the lackluster food and rooms, but everyone was so stiff and dour that we were relieved to only be staying one night. Summary: amazing whisky selection but recommended to eat and sleep elsewhere.
Jayne Cee — Google review
Exceptional experience all round. Having visited The Ardshiel a few times now, I can honestly say they consistently excel. Warm, charming, and professional service in a well maintained, comfortable, and relaxed environment. The food is both excellent and very good value. The food is fresh, well presented, good sized portions, and always very tasty! It really is a treat to visit The Ardshiel. Can't recommend enough. And applaud the staff and owners, well done!
John Craig — Google review
I visited the Ardshiel as we would normally two or three times a year, and on this occasion we were vastly underwhelmed, the portion sizes have been reduced to a size where it would be more prudent to eat elsewhere. If it were not for the fantastic service, I doubt we would ever eat here again. Fantastic staff and food quality, but miserable portion sizes. Shame on you management. I have also noted that the management rarely responds to less than perfect reviews.
Brodie Watson-Stokes — Google review
A colleaged was booked in to stay and invited me to dine with her. We both had the mac and cheese and the parmesan truffle fries. Thet were wonderful. My colleague told me the room was great and she was very comfortable and well looked after by the very friendly attentive staff

At present, Taj Mahal Tandoori in Campbeltown does not have a menu available. However, they are constantly updating and adding new menus, so it is recommended to check back soon for updates. In the meantime, there are other menus for various establishments within Campbeltown that can be explored.
We had take away from here last weekend and it was honestly one of the best curries I have had in years, taste was great and the consistency of the curry was spot on. I asked if they could do Paneer cheese in the curry instead of vegetables which which they did. Really excellent I will 100% order from the Taj again the next time I am in Campbeltown.
Ross Fraser — Google review
This restaurant is an absolute shambles. 7 of us waited over an hour and a half for any food to reach the table, and even then the food was awful. They were more interested in getting the takeaways out the door than they were of the customers at the tables. One man working front of house, barely understood English, having being asked 3 times for 1 drink I had to point out to him what I was asking for. The service is terrible and the food awful, that is basically the bottom line. Good job it wasn't me paying the bill as I would have told them to take something off due to the appealing service. Never again.
Fiona Macleod — Google review
An absolute honest review... When we arrived at 8.40 pm there was no one in the restaurant. As we entered the waiter could be heard complaining 'I hope that they know we shut at 10.30'. After initially requesting drinks, it took 3 attempts before this was acknowledged. We asked for 14 poppadoms between 7 of us, and the chutney trays that they brought out were virtually empty. They served 2 of our group. Whilst still eating our chutneys the waiter started leaning over members of our party whilst still on appetisers. No 'excuse me', no 'thank you'... Whilst eating mains the waiter kept asking 'are you done yet?'. I went to the toilet in the last 5 minutes of our visit... when I arrived back the waiter had taken my beer and disposed of it. Quite possibly the worst service from an Indian takeaway that I have ever experienced. Reading reviews it would appear that I'm not the first to feel this... Time to boycott the place. They don't appreciate the custom.
N Samuel — Google review
Sorry guys, it was bad. Veggie curry, couldn’t find any veg. Seemed mostly sauce. Popadoms were a bit burnt? Really cheap though. To be fair it is very well priced.
Kenny Marshall — Google review
The curries were very good but the pakora starters didn’t come till after the curries and one was inedible! Despite pointing this out we were still billed for it. It was only after confrontation with management that the bill was reduced by half the cost of the inedible starter. We won’t be back due to VERY poor customer service.
Sandra Green — Google review
We are interested in having an Indian and had already tried the other one in town so gave this one a go. Food was nice, naan was lovely. Atmosphere could be better (place looks a little run down and in need of some tlc). Service was fine, could have been a little quicker getting the bill.

The Reshmi Kabab Starter at Taj Mahal was absolutely delicious. Tender chicken marinated in a perfect blend of spices—simply heavenly.
Rafael Hoffman — Google review
I am not satisfied with this restaurant because front staff misbehaving and talking to me about political issues running in my country. If you pre-order the meal still wasting lots of time that is not worthwhile at all.
sajjad Ali — Google review
We 3 people have some food before and arrive at around 9. We order two dishes, naan and rice. The waiter is disconnected for ordering not enough. We order 1 bottle of beer, come out for 3.And food is small. Charge us GBP45 for 3 people. That’s terrible experience
