Peaceful and holy place in the middle of Bhavnagar. It's construction at a small hillock adds to its beauty. There was no rush of devotees, but I think it is more popular as a sitting place and enjoying in leisure. There are benches and sitting places around it. Being a Shiva temple, there are wood apple (बेल वृक्ष) trees on the hillock around the temple.

Takhteswar Mahadev is one of the oldest and best hilltop temple of Lord Shiva, the landmark of city in center of Bhavnagar at Takhteshwar Taleti Road. This temple was built by King of Bhavnagar Maharaja Takhatsinhji in 1893 with unique architecture supported on 18 carved pillars with huge hall, magnificent courtyard and three-eyed Lord Shiva idol.

In my young days I was regular reader of news papers in this library. It is 150 years old library, established on 30th September, 1882. And inaugurated by contemporary king Takhtasinhji Gohil. King Takhtsinhji named the library after the name of colonel L. C. Barton (British political agent). It was a Treasury of informations for research ers, intellectuals. Thousands of gujarati books on various subjects are available here. Book lovers were eager to emerge this library to be one of the best library of the country. It is linked with Chhagan prasad Desai library which was established by late diwan Gaurishankar Oza in 1860. It was first of it's kind in kathiyawad region. Firstly it was established in Majiraj kanyashala on Gandhismurti road. Barton library in it's re-establishment of reputation is in lack of fund. Any finance help is tax free u/s 80G. It has also permission for international funds under FR ACT 1976.

Very impressive architecture but sadly library is of no use specially for a non gujarati people. Two untrained retired uncle taking care of library with zero supportive attitude. Trustees of library is unreachable even if you have authorised nation universities request letter. You cannot read the old books also you cannot access the 1st floor where all the old books are kept. disappointment! Total waste of time!

LOCK GATE is great work of German engineering. Constructed in 1961. It keeps vessels floating inside the gate during low tide.

Only two lock gate in india, one is fitted at Bhavnagar new port. purpose of lock gate is to store sea water at jetty while low tide, at high tide time lock gate opens so water comes in up to jetty and before low tide they close lock gate so water can not go outside, it's very unique and built before independence. Though people are not allowed to visit there.

it is the place where there is restricted entry for the people coming without Authority, lock gate is 2nd in no. to be built of it's kind during early time, it cater the need of water holding in basin area of port for cargo handling.

I often eat vadapav here. In Bhavnagar You could enjoy biggest size of vadapav here only, it was delicious in taste, cooked in butter only oil option wasn’t there. One vadapav was about 40 rupees.

This is hands down the best vada pav I've ever had in my life! The vada is perfectly spiced and fried to perfection, and the pav is soft and fresh. The chutneys and fried green chili take it to the next level. Highly recommend!
