Serangan

Laid-back Serangan Island is known for the Turtle Conservation and Education Center, where visitors can adopt a rescued hawksbill or green turtle and release it into the sea. The grounds of centuries-old Hindu temple Pura Dalem Sakenan are dotted with ornate statues. Simple cafes, or warungs, serve nasi goreng, bakso meatballs, and other staples. There are strong surfing waves at Serangan Beach in the east.

Nature & Parks
Bajra Sandhi Monument is a significant landmark in Denpasar, Bali, located in the Lapangan Puputan Margarana park. The monument, designed to resemble a priest's bell, symbolizes Indonesia's Declaration of Independence with its architectural features. The upper floor houses 33 dioramas depicting episodes from Balinese history. Visitors can relax and enjoy the city atmosphere around the monument and engage in activities like jogging, basketball, and football.
Located in the heart of Denpasar, the garden surrounding the moniment is huge. The monument itself consist of 2 main area , diorama area which depicts Bali's history and viewing area in the top from which you can view most of Denpasar city. Staff is friendly and informative, and the collection is well maintained. Would visit again someday

The monument is absolutely huge and amazing! We loved it! You can walk around in the beautiful garden and inside the monument, and there's even an indoor water fountain with a spiral staircase in the middle where you can go up and see the history exhibition about Bali. Wonderful architecture with tragic history. Highly recommend to see!

Constructed 1981-2003. Dedicated to the struggles of the Balinese people. There are 17 steps leading to the main gate, 8 pillars inside and the monument is 45 meters tall, which represents Indonesia's Independence Day on 08/17/1945. You should be able to take awesome pictures from all sides: I suggest a camera over a phone.

Bajra Sandhi is a monument built in 1987 to commemorate the struggles of the Balinese people over the years. It is Bali's largest public park for both locals and tourists to enjoy freely without charge, It is situated in Renon, the island's "main district" long long ago, you can see old architecture and more antiquity the more northern you go in Denpasar. If you're wanting to see Bali's communal beauty and history, visiting this park is a must. It is incredibly ambient and peaceful, you can visit at all times of the day even at noon, since the trees greatly help with providing shade amidst the heat, it is a large park in a not so densely-housed area, there's also a nearby smaller park only 2.5 km (1.4 miles) away. It is less dense and larger then you might thought. It's over 1.5 km (1 Mile) for one walk around the park's perimeter. Today, many still exercise around the park and many children here play soccer and basketball, not the mention it's incredibly safe thanks to the hospitality of the locals, and also considering the fact that this area is near major government & police offices and buildings. there's many restaurants and shops nearby, as well as many crossings in the road. If your still in the park you can find people offering snacks and even cold drinks at local prices.

The location is easy to find. Follow the direction from Google Maps. They have a wide parking space as a lot of tourists on tour or students on a study tour visit here. Entry ticket is IDR 25,000 for locals (usually they charhe higher for foreign visitors). You can find a museum inside the temple-style monument. It is built to commemorate the struggles of the Balinese during the colonial era. It is designed into three levels. On the first and second level you can find pictures and dioramas. On the third level, up the spiral staircase, you can find an empty observatory-like room that oversees the city. Air conditioning available, but it is still quite hot. Toilets available. A lot of people jog here in the morning and evening. Some have picnic at the garden surrounding the location.

I’m so glad I visited this monument dedicated to the past struggles of the Balinese. It’s a very beautiful monument with lovely grounds & a magnificent view from the top. The inside houses a museum with diorama of past wars and the resilience of the Balinese. All in all a very enjoyable experience with very few people.

Nice area. We didn't get to go inside because it was closed but the monument is beautiful from the outside. The park is very alive, with people doing all kind of activities. Its in the center of Denpasar so its worth a visit if you are near by.

Good place to jogging/run and walk here if you visit early in the morning or in the evening. Also, to take wedding photos. Scenery is good
Sadashiv Kamath — Google review
The monument has incredibly beautiful architecture. And not only that, internally there is an illustrative museum about the history of struggle, resistance to colonization and independence of Indonesia. It's worth being seen and known. Contradictions in current discourses receive context in this museum.

Bajra Sandhi left me speechless. The little structure is magnificent. There was almost nobody when I visited, in the middle of the afternoon. I paid the entrance 50k. You can roam around and take as many pictures as needed. There is a little museum inside about the colonized past of Indonesia, with a few pictures and some dioramas which are pretty impressive. There is also some art in the main place. It's a relaxing place for culture lovers. You also have a nice view up there through the windows.

The Bajra Sandhi Monument in Renon Square, Puputan, South Denpasar is a monument that can also be called a museum, containing photos and dioramas commemorating the struggle of the Balinese people against the invaders, as well as the history of Balinese life since the hunting era of 3000 BC. This monument is surrounded by several fields, and the separation between the fields is usually used for walking, jogging in the morning or evening, apart from walking along the beach.

A beautiful monument in tribute to a beautiful people. During my recent visit to Denpasar, I had the privilege to visit the Bajra Sandhi Monument, an iconic landmark that stands as a silent witness to the rich history and cultural tapestry of Indonesia. As I approached the monument, I was struck by its grandeur and architectural brilliance. The monument, with its towering structure and intricate Balinese design, serves as a proud reminder of Bali's struggle for independence. Its imposing edifice commands respect and reflects the resilience and spirit of the Balinese people. The monument is nestled amidst a lush and well-maintained garden, offering a serene and peaceful environment to ponder upon the historical narratives that it embodies. Inside, the museum offers an enlightening journey through various phases of Balinese history, depicted through a series of dioramas that are both detailed and captivating. The galleries are well-curated, providing a seamless blend of education and visual appeal. Visitors also have the opportunity to ascend to the top of the monument, where they are greeted with a panoramic view of Denpasar. This vantage point offers a picturesque glimpse of the city's evolving skyline, set against the backdrop of the majestic Mount Agung. It is a sight that captures the harmonious blend of the old and the new, a testimony to Bali's continuous growth and development. But what truly sets Bajra Sandhi Monument apart is its role as a space of reflection, where one can pause and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who fought for Bali's freedom. It is a place that evokes a deep sense of pride and reverence, making it a must-visit for anyone keen on understanding the spirit of Bali. I would highly recommend a visit to the Bajra Sandhi Monument for both locals and tourists alike. It not only offers a glimpse into Bali's rich history but also serves as a source of inspiration, a beacon of resilience, unity, and hope. A true gem in the heart of Denpasar! Took me about 20 minutes to walk round the in square a stunning place

A very nice monument, the museum inside tells you about the history of Bali and the Balinese fight for independence. The architecture inside and outside looks amazing. There is a spiral staircase that leads you to the top with a view of the surroundings. Around the monument, there is a huge field for jogging, playing, hanging out, and many street vendors. Needs a little bit of upkeep for the diorama, but definitely recommend.

The Bajra Sandhi monument is a great place to visit if you want to learn about the Balinese people's fight for independence. The complex boasts an extensive collection of replicas, historical archives, and photographs, making it an excellent resource for those interested in Bali's rich history. The atmosphere inside the monument is serene and calm. Additionally, the building's exterior features a lot of Balinese architectural elements, giving it a unique and authentic feel. Bajra Sandhi Monument located in the heart of Denpasar, which makes it easily accessible to visitors. It is around a 40-minute drive from the airport, and there is wide parking space and wide roads to make it easy to navigate. The monument has complete facilities like a library and clean toilets, making it a convenient and comfortable place to visit. However, it is not very accessible for people with disabilities as there are many stairs to climb to reach the main exhibition area. You can find plenty of convenience stores and sellers near the monument, providing ample opportunities for souvenir shopping and snacking. There are plenty of things to do in and around the monument, from learning about Bali's history to enjoying the beautiful surroundings with family and friends. The monument is open every day from morning until 6 pm, and entrance fees range from 15,000 to 50,000 rupiahs, with discounts available for students.

Sanur is a charming resort town on the east coast of Bali, known for its colorful fishing boats, galleries, restaurants, and an old temple. Once a fishing village, it has retained its local charm and friendliness while offering a beach resort atmosphere with hotels, resorts, restaurants, bars, shops, and entertainment venues. Despite not being technically in Denpasar, it's just a 15-minute drive away.
Perfect place to enjoy sunrise. Better visit the beach on 05.00-05.30 in the morning to see sunrise. You could also walking on the beach walk or riding a bike.
Neni Wardana — Google review
Good beach to swim during high tide and to walk around during low tide (you can find starfish). The beach is clean, a lot of restaurants nearby. On the downside, it can be very crowded on sunset
Vitaly Mordan — Google review
It's not the nicest or best beach in Bali. It is nice if you are staying at one of the resorts along the beach. They actually keep it clean and have lounge chairs out. Other than that, walking down this beach is quite annoying. The vendors hassle you repeatedly to buy things. It's a small path shared by bikers and pedestrians. The stray dogs are everywhere. They are all over the beach and sometimes they into fight with each other. The only area that is nicer is near the resorts. The lane is wider and split for bikers and walkers. The sand isn't soft. It's covered in coral shards and rocks. The hotels have workers raking the sand only in the beach area for their guests. Low tide is a weird time. But you can actually walk out pretty far with the water up to your knees. We stayed at one for the resorts for a few nights and another local hotel. We were able to experience the difference in the way beach is on both ends.

I don't know why this beach is not mentioned in the top 5 beaches in Bali. It is long, very clean, without waves, with many cafes and bars, and water sports. I especially like that there are many trees on the beach itself, so it is possible to lie down in the shade on a towel, you don't have to rent deck chairs. A must visit.

Very popular place to catch sunrise. The international tourists here are popular because most of them are old age. Not like in canggu which the tourists are mostly millennials. Great place to do morning jogging.

Beautiful beach with clear water. Stayed at the Putri Santrian Hotel, excellent staff and clean room. 4 swimming pools, restaurants with an amazing menu. Definitely will go back if and when I’m in Bali again.

I went to Sanur beach as a day trip from Central Ubud. The beach is beautiful. Shallow water with small little pools of water. There are lots of restaurants along this coastline and hotels. You can rent 2 sun loungers with a table and an umbrella while on the beach. I believe it was for 50,000 rupiah. There are also bathrooms you can use since the restaurants are there. Lots of great shopping, many things to do and cheaper than central Ubud. My friend stood in this town and loved it.

In my opinion, the nicest beach in Bali 😍. White sand, clear blue calm water and very clean. It's also not too busy so you can enjoy a lovely stroll along the well maintained beach walk. There's many restaurants, shops and bars along the beach walk and it's a very chill vibe. If you want a more serene and relaxing beach vibe with lovely food then this is the place to go in Bali ☺️

Sanur is a place of many parts. There is the main road and a minor one both running parallel with the coast. In between are lots of alleys and dead ends where, at times you feel you are in a rural village. Lovely to explore on foot or by bike. Then there is the justly famous Sanur Beach Walk, a 5 mile stretch with the ocean on one side and variously resorts, villa gardens, the Le Mayeur Museum, the turtle project and cafès on the other. The beach has places with private resort sunbeds, beach bars with loungers to hire and plain beach with trees for shade. Take your pick. You need a bike to explore the whole length but you can walk bits of it for a pleasant late afternoon stroll. Finally there is Sanur as jumping off point for day trips. I only did one, snorkelling to Nusa Penida, and frankly I wouldn't do it again. The snorkelling is good to very good but the hassle getting there! From leaving my homestay to getting on the actual snorkelling boat was nearly three hours of chaos, hassle and hanging around. I felt we were on a conveyor belt between the 4 or 5 different companies and agencies involved and all taking their cut. In comparison, snorkelling in Menganjan was far more thrilling and we stepped onto the snorkelling boat straight from the beach after a short taxi ride from Pemuteran. But if you have no other opportunities and more patience than I, the fish are lovely, though we didn't see any Manta Rays

Plenty of shops and restaurants. Lots of accommodation choices for your budget. Quiet yet enough going on for most families not seeking night clubs and the party scene. Certainly recommend to first time travellers to Bali. Nice and close to the airport.

Sanur beach promenade is the perfect place if you love walking and that's the main reason we chose Sanur as our home. The beach is not the most beautiful in Bali but we love it because it's relatively quiet and has some amazing restaurants and warungs along the promenade. Lots of trees so not a problem to find a shady area to relax. The water is not very deep even at high tide. Lots of water sport activities that you can enjoy. In our opinion it's worth a visit. Not sure what it will be like when the new shopping center opens.

A lively quiet beach. No waves. Some fishermen and boats. A lovely spot to watch the sunrise. Lots of restaurants, resorts and bars along the foreshore walk. Even some ladies selling Balinese items of clothing. Outside the Hyatt there are tanks with sea turtles being raised to be released back into the wild

Probably my favourite place in Bali. Much more relaxed in Sanur but still with some great hotels , restaurants, bars and cafes located here.p Still plenty of shopping options too. Sanur has a fantastic beach path which is good for walking , cycling or dining at many of the restaurants located along here. Also a great base to visit many of the islands located in the east. Sanur is less hectic and stressful than other options on the west side. Go to Sanur and relax...

Pura Blanjong, an ancient Balinese Hindu temple situated in south Sanur along Jalan Danau Poso, may not boast the same stunning visuals as other temples in Bali, but its historical significance is captivating. The highlight of this National Heritage Site is the Blanjong pillar, dating back to 914 CE and erected by Sri Kesari Warmadewa, the first king of the Balinese Warmadewa dynasty.
This temple is an unique old local inheritance. The pura is place in a not wide area

Serangan Beach has white sand, has natural sea views and is still a few of visitors. On Serangan Island there is also a conservation area for sea turtle, sea turtles are rare animals whose existence is almost extinct. There is some road have a good view to take photos.

We found this beach to be SO much better than dirty, trash littered Seminyak. Very quiet, long stretch of well maintained boardwalk. Lots of restaurants and lounges as well. We saw lots of small birds, dragonflies and crabs. Family friendly and plenty of activity rentals such biking, electric scooter, canoe & paddle boarding at an affordable cost.

Sanur Beach is one of the most kid-friendly beaches in Bali. Lots of activities that you can do, play on the beach, bike, run (there is a jogging track).
