Costa Calma

Costa Calma is a resort town on the Spanish Canary Island of Fuerteventura, off the coast of northwest Africa. The island is known for shallow-water beaches, like Sotavento Beach, which hosts international water-sports events. Northeast, La Lajita village is home to Oasis Park zoo and its adjacent Botanical Garden. Jandía Natural Park dominates the peninsula to the southwest, with rich birdlife and volcanic peaks.

Tapas bar
El Bar de Marko y Moni is a small, hidden treasure in Costa Calma offering tapas and wine that come highly recommended by satisfied customers. If you're craving a wider variety of European cuisine, Tasca Dos Jotas is the place to go. They serve delicious favorites like filet steaks and an assortment of fresh seafood dishes, along with an impressive selection of wines.
Excellent tapas bar with fantastic views on the sea. The food was excellent, we had the potatoes tortilla (runny in the middle - as it should be), apple meatballs with cheese (these were also quite good and very well balanced! The tapas portion only has 3 though ), and the fried aubergines with palm sugar - which were also good. The service was quick and the lady the brought us food was absolutely lovely!!! Definitely recommend this place!

Wow what an amazing place. The service from Marko was amazing, he made us feel very welcome as if we've just entered his home. The food was extremely reasonable, and delicious! Drinks were great, I recommend going for a litre of Sangria! Highlight of my trip to Costa Calma was enjoying authentic tapas and Sangria at Marko's.

Came for early family dinner. Didn't have a reservation, but they gave us a table. Staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Ordered tapas - squid, shark (spicy Cajun), olives, bread, meatballs, potato, Serrano croquette. Everything was great, crispy when it should, flavoursome, and well presented. Food came quickly. Was good family atmosphere.

So good we returned 2 days later 😁 We were staying about 15 minute walk away and chose to dine here due to the reviews. We returned here for our last night (despite being in an all-inclusive hotel); sooo worth it. First visit was €84 for a LOT of tapas, wine, sangria and soft drinks for 4. Deserts for 2. Second visit we went for more expensive dishes and still only came to €108, but ordered too much in hindsight. The guys serving are so helpful, advising we were over-ordering on both visits. My girls are not normally seafood fans but loved it all, including the shark. The only thing they weren't keen on was the cheese with banana jam but we were stuffed by then anyway. Great food, great staff, who took us into the kitchen to show us one particular special was quite large, hence why they changed the order from medium to small.

Undoubtedly our favourite restaurant in Costa Calma! The whole experience starts with amazing view from the terrace, then great drinks, amazing tapas and delicious desserts and of course great service! Here we had the best chorizo ever. And the grilled local goat cheese with homemade marmalade just nailed it all. We tried similar dish in other places on the island, but it wasn’t as good. Desserts are also very good, especially that Canarian one with tonnes of caramel inside. Loved it all, end-to-end!

The place has a good view as it is on the roof. We went there as it has 4.7 rate!! However the tapes they serve are the worst. It has nothing to do with Spanish tapes. For someone who never understand the quality of food might be no problem. For us it was not worth the money was paid. Relative expansive fir such bad quality. The personal was busy and we had to wit a lot to get the service!! Nie wieder

The olives were great in number but not in quality - a lot had gone off, and been served regardless. The olives came with roasted garlic, one clove of which was half rotten but was cooked and served regardless. The salad was served with "duck ham" which seemed to mean cured duck (like the way you get cures ham) - this was my husbands meal and he is a fan of duck (and ham) and he can pretty much eat whatever is put in front of him, but he couldn't manage the flavour of cured duck (so ate the salad without it). The beef goulash served with chips was fine - the beef was cooked well in as much as it was tender; unfortunately, it was practically flavourless. I added the cooked garlic to add some kind of flavour. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - speaking good English as well as speaking Spanish (obviously, on a Spanish island) and German as well as having menus in all 3 languages. The staff were quick and helpful. The drinks were nice and refreshing; served quickly and cold. The place was full and they had many more options on the menu - mainly a tapas selection, with a variety of fish options (including shark). If it wasn’t for the gone off olives and garlic, and the disappointment with our main meals, it'd be a 5 star rating.

Very nice restaurant. We went there after beach day in Cofete, superb cosy place with a nice view. Smoked cheese was amazing, and prawns were excellent - my partner does not eat seafood, and he loved the prawns, too! :) Server Erly was super helpful and took good care of us :)

We had tapas and it was delicious! Friendly staff and the price is really good. Went back for a second time. For us it was the best food on the Island. We went to El Cotillo and Costa Calma. The special, fried octopus was magical. Make sure to make a reservation if you're going after 6pm as both times all the tables full.

We are vegan and upon our first visit, had wonderful food adapted from the menu. Since we were in the area for a day more Marko and Monica said they would prepare specific dishes for us upon our return. They were super delicious!! The views are amazing and the service impeccable.

Amazing food and service. I’ve only not given a 5* for food as the rice seafood was slightly salty for my personal taste

If you're looking for a stunning dinner spot with great service, then Mirador de Sotavento is definitely worth checking out. The atmosphere is beautiful at sunset, and the food was delicious too – though it would have been nice to see more side dishes on the menu. Definitely worth a visit!
On our way north, we did a stop for dinner this is amazing restaurant. What a great place to have a dinner. Friendly service, tasty and non touristic food, stunning sunset. Definitely recommend it!!

The table service takes some time, but the views and the food are worth it. The portions are very large and you are also served a nice hot bun with some garlic sauce as a bonus. The paella was super tasty, it is also worth asking about a fish of the day. We also loved Polvito, a very sweet dessert made with meringues and some caramel!

So glad I found this place. A lovely setting and high quality food. I had been staying in Costa Calma and had been struggling to find a good place to eat. The octopus was especially delicious. I also had the cheese with honey which was tasty. The area just needs a couple more restaurants like this one!

Stunning place to dine. You need a car to get there. Ambience is lovely , especially at sunset. Staff are charming. The food was good, but so little in the way of side dishes. My fish had three tiny canary potatoes and some pepper and tomato sauce. I came away hungry and it wasn’t cheap. Suggest taking more than just the main course.

B-Side Cafe is a hidden gem located upstairs, offering great seating options both indoors and outdoors. It's perfect for enjoying a cocktail or two at surprisingly affordable prices with friendly staff. The menu boasts a wide variety of food choices, including options for vegetarians. Visitors rave about the delicious pizza and cocktails served quickly. The cafe also offers tasty pasta, lasagna, and burgers along with daily made desserts.
One of my favourite cafes in the whole surrounding! Always friendly staff and a wide variety of food choices with something for everybody, also enough for vegetarians. The pizza here is definitely a favourite and so are the cocktails, not too expensive and served fast.

Super tasty, great mix of vegetarian/vegan options and all the classic Italian specialties. We had the lasagne 😋 and the vegan burgers 😋😋, bruschetta, tiramisu, cheese cake, fries… totally tasty! And very friendly service. not the standard touristy thing - this is a real restaurant with a crazy cross-over of Italian and Caribbean flair… Pizzas served around us looked awesome, will have to come back for that!

Restaurant Mamma Mia, located in Pajara, offers a diverse menu with 24 dishes and beverages. The restaurant is known for its delicious vegetarian options, including vegetarian spaghetti and thin-crust margarita pizza. Additionally, the fresh-baked bread with aioli is a must-try. Despite being an Italian restaurant, it's recommended to try the local fish due to its amazing flavor. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food offered.
This place was our choice for a dinner during our stay at Costa Calma! Always open, staff is very friendly and fast (even when the place is crowded in the evenings) and the food is delicious. Even though the name suggests you that this is an Italian restaurant, I suggest to try local fish, because it's amazing!

We stayed at H10 Tindaya and the buffet was so horrible we ventured out and found this little treasure. The food is incredible!! Everything was delicious and hot. The staff were friendly, spoke English and went above and beyond to make our visit a memorable experience. They even offered us an inside table when one became free so we were away from the smokers as we had our 4 year old with us. We went on a Saturday and it was packed out with locals and tourists. Watching the staff work in sync was amazing. They just didn't stop and they turned a table around in a blink of an eye. We loved it so much we return a few days later for another meal. The prices are so cheap and the portions are massive. I would highly recommend. You will not be disappointed 😁

Delicious vegetarian options. As a pure vegetarian, I don't eat eggs or fish. This restaurant was my go to for my stay in Costa Calma. We had Vegetarian spaghetti, margarita pizza which was thin crust ( super light and delicious). We also tried their fresh baked bread with aioli. The food was really fresh and delicious. Spaghetti was with mixed vegetables including brocolli, onions, tomato. It was juicy but not overloaded with any pre cooked sauce. They serve extra virgin olive oil and vinegar and chilli oil on side with cheese to add as per your taste. You can also add salt and pepper as per taste. The bread was two pieces in one plate order and was warm and fresh. Also had tomato soup which was made fresh with little tomato chunks. It was really creamy and heavy but yummy. They serve cheese on side too if you are vegan.Visited twice during my stay in Costa calma and highly recommended if you are looking for vegetarian options. They also had variety of meat and fish but as a vegetarian I love the dishes.

Restaurante San Borondón is a beachside eatery that offers a variety of small plates, refreshing cocktails served in pitchers, and mouthwatering barbecued meats and fish. Located in Costa Calma, this Western-themed destination provides a complete menu for guests to enjoy. Aside from the delectable food options, visitors can also expect excellent service and reasonable prices. The paella, although not traditional, receives praise for its abundance of fresh seafood.

2023/11 I’d give the paella here a 6.5 out of 10. It’s packed with great seafood, but it’s not your authentic paella—it feels more like a risotto to me. However, the service is excellent, the location is prime right by the beach, and the prices are reasonable.

Lovely traditional restaurant with great food, especially steaks. Interior is bit dark and dated, but it goes with the territory 😁 I appreciate that they have good non-alcoholic beer, and that they have menu also in English and in German.

I had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant San Borondón tonight, opting for their steak, padrón peppers and large olives, and I must say, their steak is nothing short of spectacular. Perfectly cooked and delicious! If you're a steak aficionado or just looking for an exceptional dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend San Borondón. I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal on my return to this beautiful island. The hospitality is amazing too, friendly service with a smile and reasonably priced. Even surprised with a complementary shot on my exit as a goodbye gift. It’s the little touches that makes these experiences even better! Thank you!

So much more than just good food. It was an experience. Best night out all holiday. Thank you! My husband and ate here last night, we have eaten in a few restaurants all over the island, many were good. None were as fantastic as here. We were lucky enough to have a great seat, live Spanish guitar, friendly waiter and waitress and the most delicious food. I had chicken skewers which was seasonal perfectly and my husband had the huge Tbone steak, cooked exactly to his liking. 5 stars!!!!!

Fantastic and authentic Spanish restaurant in the heart of touristville. The barbecued steak was cooked perfectly, they serve the best Spanish white wine (from Lanzarote, Yaiza, try it), and the service was spot on. We were lucky enough to eat here when there were classical guitarists playing. Wow! Don't eat fast food, come here and try the real Spanish experience.
