Izakaya restaurant
Ebisu Yokocho is a vibrant and well-lit back alley filled with a variety of bars and fast-food restaurants serving local delicacies. Located just 15 minutes south of the bustling Shibuya scramble crossing, it is part of the stylish and trendy neighborhoods of Daikanyama, Nakameguro, and Ebisu. This area offers a laid-back atmosphere with numerous art galleries, local designer shops, coffee roasters, cafes, and restaurants that attract both locals and international visitors.
Love this place! So many spots to have a fantastic culinary tour! Highly recommend the mushroom place and their buttered mushrooms in foil is a must!!

Great selection of food. Noisy but full of atmosphere of good dining.

Nice atmosphere, good food. Service was a bit slow but that was because of how busy it was and nothing to do with the staff. Overall good place to eat
Amir Dakkak — Google review
This time I have visited Ebisu side street 2 times in a week. Always with business partners. Great place to enjoy and feel like a local. Food is excellent, fresh and super tasty. Make sure you find shops where they sell Wagyu meet.

Delicious hidden alley in Shibuya, really interesting place to visit, lots of Japanese izakaya pubs, where you can enjoy a authentic Japanese vibe, tasty food and good beer.

Fun and relaxing vibes. Quite crowded and packed with drinkers. Definitely fit Friday’s vibes

This is one of those places you just have to go in with an open mind and enjoy the food and experience. Grab a bite here and grab a bit there. So many cool izakayas packed into one place. This is always a go-to spot for me when I’m in Tokyo/Ebisu area. It’s a younger crowd, but it gets busy nearly everyday of the week. Get there early if you want to bounce around with little wait. Once the evening crowd starts filling up seats, it gets much harder to get food quickly. Beer everywhere!
Jay Pele — Google review
I love this place! Whenever I have any friends visiting Tokyo, I bring them here. In particular, there is one place that only cooks mushroom dishes, and it might be my favourite place to eat in Tokyo, even though it can get a little pricy. It has a very lively traditional/retro atmosphere here, and there's always some guy playing a guitar somewhere. It can get very crowded so it's best to get there early if you don't want to stand around waiting for a seat.

its a 2-minute walk from the Ebisu station. very easy to spot the shop, it's right after the traffic junction. Just beside 7-11 and a bar. they start their business at 1700, I was there @2300, it was super packed. there are a few shops, ( Every place is independent ). It is an agglomeration of small izakaya style taverns under one roof. The tables are close together and it is very easy to make friends while out drinking. You can also "bar hop" and try different foods or whatever tickles your fancy. I had 1 pint of beer, 1 grilled mushrooms and 2 cups of Japanese sake. I spent about 6000yen. it's a bit pricey but worth the experience. again I'm here alone! solo backpackers like me, don't feel shy! *if you wanna meet a girl (lots of beautiful office ladies) or guy( beware i notice the guys just pull you over, which can be really offensive to many other culture! how ever be it men or women STAY SAFE.) here is a good place!
Human Me — Google review
This place is a collection of izakayas under one roof. It’s such a cool environment, and it’s so easy to jump around from place to place and try different skewers and eat. This is definitely a place to stop in when you’re in Ebisu.
Robert Marmorstein — Google review
My favourite Yokocho in Tokyo. I love this Yokocho because not only is it surrounded by hundreds of bars and places to eat but it, itself is a narrow indoor restaurant street with each vendor adoring the sides. There are a lot of younger people there and the place I chose to eat had two girls working there that were really friendly and offered great service, despite their lack of English and my lack of Japanese. Great place to meet a friend, go solo to strike up conversation, or to just get some good grilled food and beers.

Nearly impossible for non locals to find way to this place but once inside it’s great with everything tastes so good and reasonably priced.

Art Museums
Situated in the Mori Tower within Roppongi Hills Mall, Mori Art Museum offers a captivating experience for art enthusiasts. The museum's location on the 52nd and 53rd floors provides breathtaking views of Tokyo. Showcasing international contemporary artwork through rotating exhibitions, it boasts an impressive collection ranging from Middle Eastern art to cutting-edge video installations. Visitors can also enjoy the panoramic vistas of Tokyo while savoring a drink at the Mado Lounge as the city lights up at night.
Tickets were easy to buy on the day and the staff help to make the process relatively painless. The exhibit features some beautiful art with in-depth explanations of the artists lives as well as more information on some of the pieces. They have a nice range of Artistic Styles, from minimalistic pieces to unique paintings and larger than life sculptures.

Mori Art Museum has come up with a new theme which includes something about effects of tsunami and nuclear power plant explosion and so on. Their idea is really much appreciated but I actually wanted to see the old art which actually made me to visit the Museum but okay not bad but not satisfied, cheers for the work

Wow! First time going to an Art Museum on 52nd floor of a building. Didn’t feel the speed of the lift moving up. There was a special art display depicting artists who wanted to show how Covid19 affected the world for 3 long years. Interesting exhibition.

Interesting and inspiring exhibition which has been thoughtfully curated. My son studying Art at high school found many pieces motivating and inspirational. Highly recommend a visit if interested in contemporary art.
Fatima Masud — Google review
I came to this art museum in 2019. During that time there was an exhibition of contemporary art. Most of it is an installation art or a conceptual design work from students participating in the exhibition. I am impressed with this place due to its excellent arrangement, even on a crowded day, I can still access the exhibition easily. It has a perspective by overlooking the city of Tokyo and also offers a full range of coffee and beverages. which is suitable for relaxing and spending time with family on vacation. Although the museum is located on the top floor of the building (over 50 floors) it is not a problem to access, but it makes for a better atmosphere to walk through these tall buildings.

<Listen to the Sound of the Earth Turning: Our Wellbeing since the Pandemic> was the exhibition when I was there. Glad to be back after the pandemic. This is definitely a gallery that you should visit if you're into arts. I appreciate the artworks a lot here.

Kōshō-ji Temple

Mentioned on
Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Kōshō-ji Temple, established by the Tokugawa family in the 17th century, is a serene and picturesque destination. The temple boasts impressive architecture, including a stunning five-story wooden pagoda completed in 1808. Nestled in woodland on Yagoto Hill, it offers a modern garden and tea house for visitors to explore. Additionally, the temple hosts an annual "1,000-Lantern Festival" during the harvest moon in October.
Serene. Empowering. Beautiful. My limited vocabulary cannot explain the experience of visiting this shrine on an empty weekday afternoon. The entrance is obviously grand, and inviting in its own special way. The big Buddha statue does not disappoint. The forest and paths around the temple are absolutely worth the dérive - you easily lose time, especially if your phone’s switched off because you don’t plan day trips well (: Do walk around the estate and find labelled paths around the monastery area, ritualistic spaces, the eating buddhas, the woods, and the running track.

Kosho-ji is one of my favorite places in Nagoya. I come here 2-3 times a month, for prayer and to just relax. There is a beautiful tea house located behind the main temple. For 500¥ you can relax inside the building and enjoy some matcha and wagashi. While enjoying a nice garden view.

Very great Temple complex. It was bigger than I thought. There is also a path you can walk. You do have to be carefull when it rains since the path can be slippery. Nevertheless I would recommend making a quick viqit. It's free and very beautiful

Beautiful and peaceful place in Yagoto, must visit when you go to Nagoya city. It’s nearly Yagoto station, just take a few minutes walking to there. The temple have a park save the forest inside the city so quite and fresh 🌸❤️

It's a nice temple in Yagoto. Very calm and peaceful place. The temple garden is very big and it's a great place to spend some time. There is also an escalator to go uphill. There are some souvenir shops as well. It's very close to the Yagoto station. When you exit from exit 1 of subway, it's only a 100 m walk.
Chamal Perera — Google review
Travel only 20 minutes from Nagoya City center and, after only few steps into the grounds, the noise of the city becomes but a distant memory. After passing the approach, beyond the Inner Gate, the 26-meter-high Five-storey Pagoda rises into view. The elegant flowing lines of the curved eaves and roofs have stood with a timeless stately presence for more 200 years.
Phúc Dương — Google review
It is a Buddhist Temple which opens its worship hall and allows worshippers and visitors for worship and other religious practices inside the hall. Such an open-door policy is rather rare for the temples or shrines in Japan. Visitors can walk around the courtyard to enjoy pagoda, center Buddha statue and other various statues in the courtyard. The Temple has escalator for visitors who want to visit the bury/ the tomb worship area.
Ben Hsu — Google review
A picturesque and tranquil place in the hustle and bustle of Yagoto. You can reach the temple within a few minutes walk from Yagoto Station. Explore the cafe, main temple and the temple grounds any season.
Linor B — Google review
This temple is very historic, beautiful and clean. The peacefulness of this location is really amazing. It's hard to believe that this temple is in the middle of a busy city. There is a little forest reserve which you have to cross to get to the temple and this walk is very beautiful. If you are visiting Nagoya, especially the Yagoto area, this is a must visit place.

(Translated by Google) Visited on March 18th. It seems to be an old hometown shrine, but it is an incredibly magnificent shrine. There were some reviews saying that the parking lot was difficult to find, but we were able to find it right away. At the awarding office, we received the Goshuin of the moon pilgrimage and the Goshuin of Benzaiten from the shrine in the precincts. The words and attitude of the person in charge were very polite. The whole place was good, but the main shrine in particular was very beautiful.

(Translated by Google) I visited Yamana Hachimangu Shrine. Since it was past 4pm when I visited, I don't know what the shrine office looked like or the stamps, but it's worth visiting just to see the structure of the shrine. The parking lot is in a place that is a little difficult to find, so you will pass by it. If you go only using your car's navigation system, you may not be able to get to the parking lot, so we recommend that you do some research in advance. All posts are my personal opinions (Original)

(Translated by Google) Beyond the beautiful vermilion Ichi-no-Ryobu torii gate, there is an unusual approach that first goes under the Joshin Electric Railway tracks. The second torii gate beyond the Zuishinmon gate is also a red-painted double torii gate, and if you climb the stone steps beyond that, you will reach the worship hall. Although it is an old shrine that was founded a little before the Kamakura period, the precincts are still spacious, bright, and open with a nice atmosphere. The guardian dog standing under the stone steps was quite sturdy and looked strong. The rainbow beams and headpieces of the hall of worship are engraved with intricate carvings that are sure to impress, but in the back is the main shrine, which boasts the largest carvings in the prefecture and is decorated with brilliant colors. The sight of six kinds of colorful divine beasts jutting out from the masu-gumi is certainly a sight to behold, and right behind the main shrine is a carved wooden lion's head as the hidden deity. It is a shrine that is worth seeing in many ways, such as the pure white carp in the Benzaiten pond in the shrine grounds, which gives you a sense of something sacred.

Rengeji Temple

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Renge-ji is a secluded Buddhist temple located in the northern outskirts of the city, accessible only by car or train. The temple is renowned for its beautiful garden surrounding a central pond, which exudes an atmosphere of peacefulness and secrecy. The garden's trees and rocks are meticulously positioned to create a cosy and beautiful setting. Photography is prohibited in certain areas of the temple, marked by green slippers.
To miss this perfect, serene, little temple and garden would be tragic. It’s very quiet which is the perfect antidote to all the over crowded ‘big’ tourist temples in Kyoto. I could happily spend a day watching the koi in the tranquil pond contemplating how life could be… and surely that’s the point? Reasonably easy to get to by train and a short walk. I think ¥500 entry but it didn’t matter. Possibly my favourite place in Kyoto.
Matt Harrison — Google review
This small temple is a bit out of the way but one of the most serene settings I have seen...beautiful! It is distinguished in not only being old which many temples are in Japan but also being both a Buddhist and Shinto temple which is a much, much smaller subset. It's a great place to spend a little time in quiet meditation...time permitting. But, worth a look just the same if you are more rushed.
Richard Krebill — Google review
A beautiful temple to go to during momiji season. I think this is one of the lesser known temples among tourists, so it doesn’t get as crowded as the more popular ones. Nonetheless, it is worth the visit ~
Allen Lemuel Lemence — Google review
Beware of the angry monk there shouting at and scolding the visitors all the time inside and outside. He was shouting at a visitor who kept his hands in his pockets (because he was cold I believe) saying that he should keep his hands out of his pockets to show respect to the god! Very spoiled atmosphere. Can’t believe that it is supposed to be Buddhist temple and he is a monk. It is just another tourist place for viewing autumn leaves (very crowded too usually if not because of COVID) for making money and have no respect to human beings despite the fact it is a temple. No compassion at all.
Zakkuro Forest — Google review
Perfect place to enjoy momiji/fall season, when I failed to enter the famous Rurikoin Temple nearby. The place depicts serenity, peace, and beauty all at once. The entrance fee is 400¥ at the time and it’s worth it. Recommended!

It’s cosy and beautiful. Every tree and rock in the garden is so well placed. Photos taking is not allowed at area where green slippers are put on.

This temple is meant more for genuine meditation and contemplation than mainstream sightseeing. The fare is a bit high given that the premises are not particularly vast, but you can make up for it by sitting in meditation in front of the pond and letting go of your worries for a while. The garden area, including the chapel located within it, cannot be photographed.

You have your peace there. Practically no other tourist. Stunning Zen garden (you need to pay 400-500 yen to visit the garden for a good cause). Really recommend it for a little off-adventure 😁
