Ryugado Cave

Sights & Landmarks
Ryuga Cave is a famous tourist attraction in Kochi Prefecture that offers visitors the experience of exploring a mysterious world unique to caves with the five senses. The cave network has narrow passages and brightly lit rock formations, as well as a small museum and bird park.
Amazing adventure at this cave. Bit narrow and low route may be a challenge to tall and fat people. Need approximate 30 mins to finish whole
Wai Man Cheng — Google review
Absolutely stunning! It's not for someone who doesn't like confined spaces though. Worth every penny if the money goes onto preservation of these wonderful caves. My children loved it. The show at the end had us all mesmerized.
Caroline — Google review
The sightseeing route is already stunning, tall or well-built visitors may find it a bit difficult to pass through some narrow corridors.
Wincy Hung — Google review
We did an extra adventure course. Requires reservation and Japanese speaker but kids loved it. There are two different adventure courses hence we want to try the different one next. And yes there are centipedes and bats 🦇
yomi matsuoka — Google review
Beautiful walk through the cave. Will try the guided adventure course next time! Most shops were under construction in Dec 2022. Bought beautiful Tosa knives closest to the exit. Highly recommend taking a 40-minute taxi ride from the city. The bus+train comes once an hour at most.

Almost cold inside, good exercise 😅 You'll need a helmet though!
Chris Miller — Google review
Really nice cave experience. The main halls aren’t as huge as some of the ones in Okinawa, but the course is probably longer. About 1 km with lots of ups and downs. While the floor is well maintained and built for walking, the passages can have surprisingly low ceilings and/or narrow gaps. You’ll have to work a little going through here! At least there’s an escalator up to the entrance so you won’t be pre-exhausted going in!
Floyd McDaniel II — Google review
Spectacular cave system. Takes 30-40 minutes to walk through.
John Moore — Google review
I'm so amaze inside of the cave! Over size can't fit inside (sorry) So cool inside but you will perspire because of going up and down inside the cave. And this is a huge cave indeed!!!
erlinda ang — Google review
Interesting limestone cave outside of Kochi City. Plenty of parking and a small shopping street on the way up. Probably about an hour if you take your time looking at all the interesting sites on the regular course. There is also an adventure course to see more of the cave but requires a little climbing and wading in water.
Roland C — Google review
a cave with many beautiful rocks. suggest taking a coat + hat since its kinda cold inside, and there are water dripping from the ceiling. also remark that there are very tight gaps, so for those who arent good at bending etc, this place isnt recommended.
o k — Google review
Great day activity. The cave walk takes about 30mins and ends with a nice paved bush walk back down to the bottom. There is free parking on site.
valerie x — Google review
Amazingly large cave where you can walk by yourself, no obilgatory guide. Sometimes narrow, sometimes large halls, much water, just a magical place.
Susan Tielenburg — Google review
It is costly but worth it...a beauty of nature. Warm in winter and cool in summer. Some places are quite narrow and low ceiling. A lot of stairs to reach the cave and inside, too. Pity that the black ugly cables aee running around and visible inside... Just before the end of the route, there is a projection mapping of image of the stone age or something.
zara k-tai — Google review
Absolutely stunning we thought this place is a hidden gem. Not recommended if you don't like confined spaces... climbing steep steps or narrow low areas. Kid's loved it and were fascinated by the light show especially at the end. Highly recommended if you get the chance to visit... avoid carrying bags if you can.

Kami City Takashi Yanase Memorial Hall & Anpanman Museum

Mentioned on
Modern art museum
Museums
Kami City Takashi Yanase Memorial Hall & Anpanman Museum is a contemporary museum suitable for both adults and children, featuring installations and exhibits dedicated to the popular anime character Anpanman. The museum's modern architecture is impressive and showcases the works of the writer and creator of Anpanman. Visitors can also explore huge statues of Anpanman outside, as well as take a free ride on SLman. Although there is no restaurant within the museum, neighboring buildings offer delicious meals.
Children will enjoy looking at all the Anpanman memorabilia. They can also collect stamps at designated areas where they can experience and explore different activities. There is also an area to take a picture with Anpanman characters. After exploring the inside of the museum, kids can also play at the outdoor playground.
Reina Anne Perez — Google review
It was fun and full of posters and little activities. I thought it would be bigger so my rating is biased due to my expectations. It was cute and a wonderful place to bring your kids! You can see the whole thing within an hour and half for sure. The park outside was nice too!
Minae Nemoto — Google review
We went there Friday last week and it was nice. The architecture of the buildings is modern which leaves you in awe. You can learn about the writer or maker of Anpanman through his displayed work at the musuem. There were statues of Anpanman outside which are huge by the way. You can also ride the SLman for free. They don’t have a restaurant and only has a small souvenir shop. The staff are accommodating. My family and I love this place.
Lyzel Quizeo — Google review
Fun for families and fans of Anpanman. I enjoyed the paintings gallery and exploring the place. It was pretty easy to navigate the train and bus to get there and is a beautiful area surrounded by mountains.
Donna Taibossigai — Google review
Not only for kids but adults can enjoy it as well. Tripod can be used extensively outside. Come early in the morning to get around outdoor first then go inside the museum (queueing! ) The ticket is not pricey
v derosya — Google review
Nice Museum for Adult and kids. There is a restaurant in the building beside that provide nice meal

Mt. Miune

Mentioned on
Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Mt. Miune offers stunning panoramic vistas from its summit, accessible via a hiking trail that leads to a small lake and an unstaffed mountain hut for lodging. Unlike the more crowded Mt. Tsurugi, visitors can enjoy the picturesque scenery with relatively fewer people around on weekends. However, caution must be exercised when trekking towards Shiraga as it involves very steep terrain going down from Miune or up towards it if coming from Shiraga.
Absolutely stunning views! And a lot less touristy than Tsurigisan. Favorite hike on Shikoku and one of my favorites in Japan. Make sure to walk the ridge as well!
Ida Sultan — Google review
A fine view from the summit and not nearly as crowded as Mt Tsurugi (on a Saturday, only 6 others there at mid-day). There's a small lake a couple hundred meters below the top that is picture perfect, with a fairly nice/large mountain hut that you can stay in just beside the lake (its unstaffed but free of charge, and no equipment so bring everything). If hiking towards Tenguzuka-san the path is great, but if going towards Shiraga it is very very steep going down off Miune (or very very steep up to Miune if coming from Shiraga). Avoid this route in bad weather.
