Mountains
Mount Aizu-Komagatake is a well-known peak that stands at an elevation of 2,133 m and boasts hiking trails for enthusiasts. The mountain is renowned for its stunning azaleas during the spring season as well as its captivating fall foliage. Additionally, it provides an excellent opportunity for snow hikes in the winter months.
A nice beginner friendly snow mountain that is typically done as a day trip. Access via Hinoemata village where there are a couple of free parking spots.

(Translated by Google) This time I climbed from the Takizawa trailhead. (Late June) Due to the remaining snow during this period, the area near the summit was slippery and it was difficult to climb without crampons. I think it is better not to climb with shoes that you do not want to get dirty because the snowmelt water is flowing on the way and the footing is very bad and the shoes are muddy. (Most of the scaffolding is poor from the middle to the top, and there are many places where the foot is muddy or hollow even where there is residual snow.) It is a wonderful mountain with a nice view when you climb to the open place, but since the foothold on the way is bad at this time, I feel that it is more suitable for mountain climbing in winter, probably after the remaining snow is gone.

The snow was compact and we had a hard time until we passed the summit of Mt. Aizu Komagatake. It looked like I could walk up the ridgeline with my feet, but there were sometimes deep steps, so I put on my wakan. The next day, the snow had compacted and we descended the mountain with crampons. (Translated by Google) Climbed in late October. We stayed the night before at Naniri Sanso and arrived at the parking lot in about 15 minutes by car. We started climbing at 5:45 when it was still dark. At first there is quite a bit of climbing and then you go through a wooded area. The surrounding leaves were at their peak, and the scenery was breathtaking as we climbed. It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach the drinking fountain. There are wooden benches lined up, perfect for taking a break. Once you get to this point, the rest is pretty easy! It's an easy walk as it continues to be a gentle climb. The number of trees decreases and the number of mountain bamboo increases. Halfway through, the view suddenly opened up and we were in a wetland area. Proceed along the wooden path, but it can be slippery when wet, so be especially careful on the way down. It takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach Koma's hut. The hut has cup noodles, coffee, and a paid toilet (100 yen), which is very convenient. It seemed like it was the last business day of the day, so it was being cleaned. From the hut, follow the wooden path, go up the right at the fork, and go up the steep stairs to reach the top in about 15 minutes. Although it is surrounded by trees and has no visibility, it is 2,113m high, making it the second highest mountain in the Tohoku region. If you want to enjoy the view of the plateau wetlands and mountains, please go there as it takes about 40 minutes to get to Naka no Mon. The inner gate itself only goes around the wetland, but there are benches and you can see the Aizu Basin on your left. The trailhead is close to Hinoedagi Village, and the elevation difference is 1200m, and it takes about 3 hours to reach the top, making it a famous 100-famous mountain that is surprisingly easy to climb. Oze National Park is a stunning destination known for its hiking trails that wind through mountain wetlands, offering breathtaking views of spring flowers and fall foliage. In 2000, a wide wooden path was opened in the Oshimizu area near the car parking spot, providing wheelchair access on the north side from Fukushima. The park's vastness makes it challenging to explore entirely, and personal transport is not permitted after Oze Tokura Station.
‘Twas a great experience to trek Ozegahara on the first day and hike Mt. Shibutsu on the second day. Both my 2nd time trekking and hiking.⛰️🎌🗾🥰

It’s a beautiful place but they charge us too much just for parking, round trip bus ride between Oze and the bus stop. 2 ppl with a car for a day trip = 5000 yen. Will probably stay in one of those mountain hunts next time I’m here. Overall, Oze was an incredibly beautiful spot where you can really enjoy the feeling of the nature and feel zen.

We walked 40km for the 2.5 days stayed in the national park. Beautiful and well-preserved nature. Impressed by the fact that everyone really carried back their each single pieces of garbages. You cannot use shampoo, tooth paste nor soap in the park in order to help to preserve water quality, which was the only pain point for the 3 days trip.

Oze national park is as beautiful as the pictures you find online. But remember, it is a very large national park and it is difficult to cover the whole park. Also you are not allowed to use your personal transport after oze tokura station. We talked with one of the local drivers and asked him to wait for us until we returned. We exchanged phone numbers and contacted him. He waited for us until 5:30 (the last listed bus is 4:40).

(Translated by Google) Visited on May 2, 2024 for mountain climbing with remaining snow There was already snow left at the trailhead, so I had to wear light crampons throughout the hike. The path from Ugura to Mt. Hiushigatake was muddy with no remaining snow. Also, the remaining snow on the climb up to Mt. Hitsugatake from there was difficult to climb with light crampons. There were quite a few people in the backcountry, enjoying skiing and snowboarding. It took about 3 hours to reach Mt. Minobuchi and nearly 4 hours to reach Shibayasu. Not to mention the spectacular view from the mountaintop. From the end of the long Choei Shindo, there was a series of superb views! It is a wonderful mountain, and there are 100 famous mountains in Japan! The descent of Hiuchigatake descended in the direction of Ozegahara, but the descent of this Miharu Shindo was extremely difficult! The mud is so bad that I'm walking in the mud for 2 hours, so it's dangerous to get my feet caught in the mud! Be careful here (Original)

On a pleasant and sunny day, I had a panoramic view of this vast Oze from the top of the mountain. The view overlooking Lake Ozenuma, Ozegahara, the surrounding famous peaks, and even Mt. Fuji is a must-see. Mt. Hiuchigatake consists of five peaks, of which three can be climbed: Mt. Shibayasu (2,356m), Mt. This time, I climbed the course from Miike to Hiuchigatake, Choei Shindo, and Numayama Pass, and returned by shuttle bus. On the mountain trail from Miike, where you can do a day trip, the two marshes where the leaves of the grass have started to turn red are wonderful. Of course, when descending to Numayama Pass, you can pass through the Oe Marsh, and the autumn leaves of the grass will be one of the highlights. On this route, we had to go back and forth from the summit of Mt. Shibayasu to Mt. Shibayasu. The view of these two peaks is one in two. A magnificent view of the whole of Oze spreads out before your eyes. Also, if you position yourself well, you can see Lake Okutadami. (Translated by Google) October 3, 2023 I took a day trip up the Nadetsukubo route, down the Miharu Shindo, and walked to Hato Samurai Pass. The autumn leaves had just begun, but the view from the top of Mt. Hiushigatake, including Ozegahara, Ozenuma, and Mt. Nikko Shirane, was spectacular. However, the route selection was poor. Rock climbing until the end of the climb, muddy hell until the end of the descent If you want to climb, I recommend Choei or Oike. In particular, the muddy hell down the Miharashi Shindo road is mentally ill. Dense forest area until the end, no view 😅 (Original)

(Translated by Google) We entered from the Fukushima Prefecture side. Since private cars are prohibited, we take a shuttle bus from Oike to Numayama Pass. We walked through the Oe Wetlands and stayed at the Ozenuma Hutte campsite for 3 days and 2 nights. I only climbed the mountain on the second day. There are about 5 peaks on Mt. Hiushigatake, so I would like to conquer 2 of them. I regretted choosing the scree mountain trail, so I took the regular path down the mountain. It is an intermediate level mountain with no dangerous spots.
