Toll road rest stop
Rest stop
Visitor Centers
Road Station Kawaba Denen Plaza is a convenient and peaceful rest stop along the toll road. It features a farmer's market, various dining options, a water element, and a bridge in tranquil surroundings. This location is especially ideal for families looking to grab lunch or spend half a day exploring. While most shops close by 5 PM, the ample parking and spacious seating area make it an enjoyable pit stop.
Pretty place! Nice to walk since sitrs are nice despite the cold weather. Locals sell their produce here too. And there are several food shops in case hungry.

Beautiful place to stop off at if you're passing through. Good place to buy souvenirs and have lunch. Very scenic with lots of free parking. You can even camp nearby. This place is surrounded by other cool places like Numata park, Bokyo Line, Tambara Lavandar park etc. The only problem with this place is that it's extremely crowded. They also have a pet dog named DEN who from what I can tell is caged up 24/7 and that made me sad.
Kelly Pettit — Google review
Great view with lots of local goods. Will visit again if given a chance.
Jason Teo (???) — Google review
We stopped here for lunch. There was a lot of parking! Wonderful venue! Lots of choices! Dog friendly! We ate at the Noodle restaurant just inside the entrance by the pond. We sat facing the Pond and enjoyed buckwheat soba with vegetable tempura! Oishi!

Beautiful place with little shops to buy omiyage. Good place for cheese and beer also. Very kid friendly are but can get busy.

A wide road side station with plenty of parking. If you like to buy local products, this is the place to stop by.
Antonio Oattono — Google review
This is a very huge area with many kinds of shops and restaurants. Children can enjoy the outdoor playland too.

A great selection of restaurants to enjoy, combined with great produce shops make for a nice experience. Very crowded on weekends.

For being a cash-based society, you'd think they would provide an ATM. Why not provide a means for people to spend money? Not everyone in the world carries cash - especially while travelling.
K H — Google review
Biggest and best roadside station I've ever been to (of about 50). Its more like a food theme park or resort than a roadside station. There are 7 car parks, several eateries, a farmers market, a rest area, outdoor and indoor seating, a nursery, toilets, smoking areas, and a brilliant free play area. Its a very popular spot particularly on weekends, so there are often queues.
Lynda Hogan (InSaitama) — Google review
Very nice spot to stop by especially for family and for lunch. Most of the shops there closes by 17:00, so not a good dinner stop. Though they have large parking, large sitting area with multiple different restaurants and shops. They even got a pond and kids playground. You can easily spend half day there. Really quick drive from Numata town. If you are near by or looking for a cool family camp area then I recommend to stop by this place.
Sayaka S — Google review
A laidback and beautiful rest stop which many locals stop by. Has an infrequent shuttle bus directly from Numata (沼田) station for visitors who don't drive. You won't go hungry here as there are many shops selling really tasty food. Has a decent official website to introduce all the food you should try there. Strongly recommend trying to local made yoghurt from the milk factory and the sanzoku-sho set (山賊焼) from the meat factory. Stamp collectors can get a unique stamp from the visitors' center. Manhole hunters will be pleased to find a cover with a design for Kawaba region near the bus stop. Visited in Jan 2020.

Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort is a small ski area that boasts well-maintained trails and a snowboard park. Visitors can also rent equipment and dine at multiple onsite options. Despite unpredictable weather, the resort remains an enjoyable destination for families with its convenient location near Tokyo and great facilities.
That was a crazy weather but it was awesome anyway. Resort is good. Many tracks, many food places. Went there a few times and I enjoyed it.
Yevhen Fabizhevskyi — Google review
I really love this place a lot, great service with nice facility with nice slopes to cover different level of ski/snowboarder. Highly recommend!
Ryan Fung — Google review
I'm a beginner to skiing and struggled alot even on the beginner routes. If you are a beginner, I recommend buying just 1 ride up the ski lift (500 yen) instead of the Day pass because it could take most of your day to get to the bottom once. Please go for the ski lessons to make the descent easier (I didnt go for any). Also wear waterproof pants if you do not intend to rent theirs. My pants were completely soaked by the time I reached the bottom. It was still pretty fun.

Very nice and beautiful ski resort nearby Gala Yuzawa station. There are so many free shuttle bus to take in every station. You can take the Shinkansen from Tokyo here. Very convenient for transportation. The ski course are so wonderful and huge. People here are not as many as in Gala. And restaurants serves great dishes. So come here and enjoy it!

Family friendly resort. it's great facilities and easy access from Tokyo
Andrew Heff — Google review
Not a huge domain to ski, but it's just fine for a day or 2 at max. Lots of restaurants available too, although the quality and healthiness of the foods are quite low, I advise you bring your own food and eat it there. I was very much surprised by the heated seats in one of the lift, such a great idea.
fiso — Google review
Special place! Views to die for, snow to play in like fluffy pillows! Don't forget the Ferrari seats!
Stuart Mcphie — Google review
Just Amazing! I went there after peak season but around mid march but the place was full of snow and had great time. They have lots of restaurants and and rentals shops there it’s convenient if you need something you can go buy it or rent it.
leon khan — Google review
This year has been great with a lot of snow. Ishiuchi Maruyama usually has a moist, heavy snow and lot of rain, but Jan through mid-Feb was perfect. Powdery snow and great view from the top, where you can see a beautiful white paddy fields. The gondola and lift at the center entrance are very high-tech. The seats on lift is warm and comfy. Definitely recommend lift than gondola. They also run night time ski everyday until end of Feb. During the weekend, they will even re-groom certain slopes. Night skiing has another beautiful view.

It’s been a little over a year since visiting, but this is definitely my favorite spot to hit out of the three resorts (Yuzawa Kogen & GALA). It has long connecting trails with differing features, big park area, and also beginner friendly snaking trails. Will come again when the next opportunity presents itself 👍
Eastie Forscher — Google review
The slope is too sharp. I cant ski down by myself. Maybe need more practice.
Aunshiro Chins — Google review
Better slopes and more variety than nearby Gala. Reasonable prices for lift passes and rental. Good season this year so there was still 2m of snow at the end of March despite the low altitude.
James Du — Google review
3.6 In February 2024, there was little snow and the quality was not very good, but the lift tickets were reasonable and enjoyable for the many courses. It is a good slope with a high-speed gondola, lifts, and many restaurants. It was a weekday, so the lifts were smooth and uncrowded. The restaurants in the ski resort have a variety of prices and tastes, so I recommend you to find a restaurant a little far away from the ski resort because it is inexpensive and has a large amount of food. The night skiing is available until 21:00. I would like to visit in a year when there is a lot of snow.
わたなべけん — Google review
4.5/5 Went there three times this season. The 中央口リフト is out the other day so the line before other lift with smaller capacity is enormous. Waited almost an hour to get to the top. Other than that, great service and good snow. Definitely worth your lift ticket money.
Munar Yesen — Google review
Despite this ski resort is on relatively low ground, it has a good mix of decently long runs if you start off from the top to the bottom. The ski resort has a lot of variations for the different courses. And it is famous for parks. Monster pipe, mini halfpipe, kickers, boxes and rails. For beginners, there is a Hatsuka-ishi area which is perfect for beginners to start learning all the basics.
thongtat ong — Google review
Excellent place to stay. Such courteous staff, well curated rooms and wonderful location. Private onsen a must do.
Dev Chakravorty — Google review
The ski resort is huge and has different lanes for beginners to experts. The weekend I went was packed with people. Making it unpleasant for me as a beginner to practice and worry about not bumping into people. The snowfall this year is little, so in some areas, you can see the mud on the hills.

Nice place to relax. Staff were very friendly. They have some foods, drinks, and omiyage for sell. Kids can paint their own fox mask, and they have other information regarding the fox spirit. If you are around the area, definately recommended to visit this place!

(Translated by Google) I stopped by while staying at Tsugawa Onsen. It is located in the center of Tsugawa, right next to the Tsugawa free parking lot. Admission is free, and you can see exhibits related to the fox's wedding ceremony, as well as try your hand at painting fox masks, making straw crafts, and making bamboo crafts. There's also an observation deck, so you can see the Agano River, and I think you'll have plenty of fun with the restaurants, agricultural products, and souvenir sales. Afterwards, take a walk around the city. A recommended cafe is Okuaga Combily. You can watch a recorded and edited video of the festival for 200 yen, and other exhibits can be enjoyed for free. Of particular note is the attached restaurant, where you can enjoy kitsune udon and yam rice. I ordered Tororo Fox Udon (750 yen). The deep-fried fox is overwhelmingly the biggest in my life. I ate it on the table with different flavors. I felt like the noodles were lacking due to the presence of fox age, but it was a unique experience. I also appreciate the free ancient rice tea. A valuable tourist resource of Tsugawa Town. I hope you will continue to cherish it. The combination of purple hostas and bellflowers and yellow ominaeshi was beautiful.
