I went here without expecting or knowing much about it, but this was one of the most memorable places I've been in Japan. The shrine is a semi-ruin so that the architecture is exposed, like a Japanese Parthenon standing in a forest glen near a farming village. There's also a small museum with impressive Buddhist statues, probably from when there was a temple associated with the shrine. The site was devoid of tourists when I was there, and it was a sublime experience.

Gorgeous big shrine and lots of little ones around it. A great view too. Worth the short drive out of Kitakata.

Great old temple, interesting architecture, is open on all four sides, have many wooden columns to hold the roof. Is famous for a very old and big gingko tree, splendid in late Autumn with his yellow leaves.

(Translated by Google) It just so happens that the temple next to this World Heritage Site is a family temple, so I didn't usually pay much attention to it, but after I moved to Tokyo for a while, I realized once again how good it is. Recently, it has been designated as a national important cultural heritage, and is also said to be a power spot, and has become very famous on Instagram. I didn't go during the best time to see ginkgo trees, such as November, but Golden Week in early summer is also very beautiful. The lush mountains and flowers give you a very beautiful and clear feeling. There aren't many people, so it might be a good place for people who want to feel nature. The place is said to be a platform erected by Minamoto no Yoritomo to call out to the gods, and is quite mysterious. There are always slippers available, so you can even go up. Recommended for those who want to spend a relaxing time. In fact, Manjusri Bodhisattva is enshrined next door, and since he is the god of learning, it is also a place for local students to pray for success. If you would like to pray for learning in this area as well, I think it would be a good idea to come sightseeing.

(Translated by Google) Shingu Kumano Shrine in Kitakata City is famous for its worship hall called Nagatoko, which has been designated as a nationally important cultural property. The worship hall ``Nagatoko'' is a Shinden-zukuri building from the Heian period. There are 44 cylindrical pillars, 1 shaku and 5 sun in diameter, arranged in 5 rows at equal intervals, all of which are open-aired, and slippers are provided so you can go up to the top and admire them. In addition to the long floor, the main hall of the Kumano Sansha Shrine, Monju-do Hall, and Kannon-do Hall remain, giving you a sense of the depth of the times. The large ginkgo tree in front of Nagatoko is 30 meters high and 8.1 meters around the base, and is said to be 600 years old, and is designated as a Kitakata City Natural Monument, but you cannot touch it with your hands. Although I visited in late spring, the fresh greenery was beautiful and I felt the freshness of spring. (Translated by Google) I was very interested in this shrine during my trip to Tohoku, so I decided to visit it. It was around 4pm when I visited, so there was no one there so I was able to visit the shrine very slowly. Especially since it was not the best season to see ginkgo trees, it seemed even more empty. There is an admission fee of 300 yen per adult. There was also a goshuin stamp prepared separately. I also received a sticker as a bonus. For an admission fee, you can also tour the treasure house located a little further away. The ``Wooden Manjusri Bodhisattva Horse and Lion Statue'' in the Treasure Hall will not be visible until April 2020 as it is undergoing restoration work, but the other Buddha statues are also wonderful, so if you visit, please take a look at the Treasure Hall as well. And the long bed, which is a nationally important cultural property, is incredibly spacious! The large ginkgo tree is a designated natural monument of Kitakata City and is said to be about 600 years old. Even when it is not colored, it is beautiful and majestic! It's a very nice big tree 🙌 It's not too big, so you can take a leisurely walk without getting tired! Parking is free and located next to the shrine. There was also a proper toilet. The surroundings were already dark and I didn't know what to do, so I went to the "Kitakata Kura no Yu" area in the back, but there was no parking space. The front was vacant. For the time being, I parked my car near the toilet and headed to Kura no Yu until 20:00. Both the large communal bath and the open-air bath were comfortable. After healing the tiredness at the hot spring, I returned to the car to prepare for a temporary stay in the car, and then took a picture of the starry sky. Cherry blossoms were planted on the bank of Happo Tameike, which is right next to the roadside station, and I enjoyed the cherry blossoms and the starry sky at night. The sky spread from north to east, and I could see the Big Dipper, which had just risen high. The next morning, I got up at 4:25 and enjoyed walking around the farmland and the Oshikiri River and observing wild birds across the Happo Reservoir-National Highway 121. I only use the hot springs and toilets, but I was surrounded by cherry blossoms and enjoyed the nature at night and early in the morning. The toilet was clean and warm, and hot water was available. Visited from mid to late April 2022 (Original)

In addition to the Kitakata ramen restaurant with a wide range of original menu items such as ramen burgers, there is also a soba restaurant within the hot spring facility. Also, at the soft-serve ice cream shop across from the main facility, they also sell a relatively rare chocolate-mint soft-serve ice cream (although Sujata does so). Although it is located close to the border of Fukushima, Niigata, and Yamagata prefectures, the sales space mainly sells Akabeko goods from Fukushima. It was early April, and although there were many cherry blossom trees, they were not about to bloom yet. It would have been beautiful if it was in bloom. I ordered the ``Ramenchi'' that was featured in the information magazine at the restaurant, but unfortunately it was sold out. It wasn't lunch time yet, but I wonder if that would happen (^_^;) Waterfowl were swimming in the nearby pond, and it was a pleasant place. However, the bird's nest under the eaves of the building, which was probably under construction, had been removed, which made me feel a little disappointed.
