Monoimina no Mikoto is said to be a child of Mishima Mikoto of Mishima Shrine in Izu Province. There was nothing written about the shrine's good fortune on the signboard or online, and there didn't seem to be any other shrines in the country that enshrined the same god. Even so, the bonito ritual is said to be the main ritual on Kozushima. The approach to the shrine is a long, fine stone staircase, and it is cool and covered with subtropical trees. The grounds are covered with the same white sand as the foreshore. It is a very historic shrine that is already mentioned in the Shoku Nihon Shoki written in 840 AD. Surrounded by cliffs on three sides, the area around the shrine is quiet even when the wind is strong, and a river of spring water that never dries up flows out from behind the shrine. Once you cross the river that runs through the grounds and cross the red bridge, you will find a rustic shrine building designated as a historic site of Tokyo, which is covered in white sand and is very mysterious. Nagahama Coast This is a very calm and relaxing place. The locals recommended we check out the sunset on this side of the island, and come 18:00 or so, I understood why. The way the sun melts into the sea is absolutely amazing! I think this would be a great place for friends, bf's and/or gf's, and family members to visit. It is too good to miss, so going solo would certainly be wonderful too! It is also located really close to one of the island's more famous shrines (just a five minute walk away from the coast). There was a lot written about this area on the site: kozushima-tokyo.com I think knowing a bit about the place made the experience a lot more fun (just something to keep in mind)!

Mt. Tenjo

Mountains
Mt. Tenjo is a volcanic summit adorned with high-altitude greenery and boasting a central crater. From its peak, one can enjoy stunning vistas of the Izu archipelago, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers. While the ascent is not particularly challenging, visitors should expect to spend approximately four hours exploring and taking in all the breathtaking sights that this mountain has to offer.
This island not only has the ocean and the beach, but also this outstanding mountain to climb! Plus it has a "desert" at the top! (well, sort of!). We were a very active group, so it was wonderful to find activities like a small mountain hike all the way out in the middle of the ocean! Our wonderful guide, Mr. Furuya, was so cheerful and insightful! He seemed to know every single thing related to the mountain as well as the island of course. The view of the town from atop the mountain is wonderful, and the surrounding sea is even more stellar, so you won't wanna miss this while you visit Kozushima. There was so much information that we found on this website: kozushima-tokyo.com. It was SO much more fun knowing what things were before we headed up to the top. Be sure to check out the Omote Desert and Ura Desert at the top of Mt. Tenjo (how unusual it is to have a desert at the top of a mountain, in the middle of the ocean, eh?).

Tenjo (especially in the Ura Desert), but even though it's a low mountain, you'll have to climb the mountain in one go, and the route is full of stones and sand, so it's easy to get lost, so you need to be well prepared. . Also, the summit is dangerous if the wind is strong, and you need to be careful of blowing sand and lower body temperature. As a guide to the course time, it will take 30 to 60 minutes from the Kuroshima trailhead to the 10th station, and there will be some ups and downs if you go via Chiyoike from there, but the time will not change much and you will reach the back desert in about 15 minutes. reach. Another 20 to 30 minutes' walk will take you to Fudo Pond, then about 5 minutes from there will be Tenku no Oka, and about 10 minutes will take you to the top of the mountain. When you look up at Mt. Tenjou again after climbing the mountain, you will be reminded that you have climbed such a place. (The wind was so strong that if I wasn't caught by a rock, I would literally be blown away.) The reason I climbed to the top of this mountain is because it is a place where you can see the sunrise and sunset at the same time. I climbed it at the beginning of the year, but was it only during that time? You can see such a special sight. Despite being exposed to strong winds that I have rarely experienced in my life, the scenery I saw was spectacularly beautiful. (Translated by Google) ◉Calm sea with high transparency. If you're going to Oshima in the summer, definitely check it out! If you go on a sunny day, you can enjoy the spectacular view. You can see how transparent it is just by looking at it from above, but if you can, definitely go snorkeling! You can take a peek into the beautiful world of the sea, including a variety of fish, colorful seaweed, and coral. (I uploaded an underwater video 🐠) The terrain created by lava flowing into the area is shaped like a partition, so there is little influence from the open ocean and the area is very calm, with almost no waves. However, the current can be very fast in some places, so children and people who are not good at swimming should be careful. The small children who couldn't swim by themselves seemed to be having fun catching crabs on the rocks and playing around in the shallows. The scaffolding is on a rugged rocky surface, so as everyone has said, I don't feel comfortable wearing flip-flops. Marine shoes are definitely recommended! There is a parking lot that can park several cars right near the swimming hole, but the road leading to it is quite narrow and sloped, so I don't think it would be easy to come by rental car. We took a taxi to the Toshiki campsite and walked (about 10 minutes) from there. Toshiki Campsite has fairly clean toilets. Maybe it was because it was just July, but there were no toilets at the swimming hole.
