Sights & Landmarks
Guoqing Temple, a Buddhist temple with a brick pagoda dating back to 597 and bronze statues now designated as national treasures, is definitely worth visiting. It is advised to bring a camera and water while being respectful of the strong morals and beliefs still practiced here such as not stepping on doorways. Information boards are available for those interested in learning about the deep history of the temple. Entrance fee is only a few RMB.
the guojing temple is over a millennium old, as it was established during the tang dynasty, which lasted from 618 to 907 ad. this makes the temple more than 1,000 years old (!). as an active buddhist temple, it maintains a community of monks who reside on-site, engage in religious practices, perform rituals, and manage the temple's operations. the monks offer teachings, guidance, and support to visitors and pilgrims who come to the temple seeking spiritual guidance. I saw couple of them today engaged into chores, cleaning and also some who were rushing to have their classes. the temple complex contains numerous historical buildings, statues, and artifacts that reflect the rich cultural heritage of tiantai buddhism and chinese buddhism in general. my favourite part about the temple is the peaceful environment. it is located in the forest, has numerous ancient trees distributed on its premises which offer wonderful setting for spiritual practice, including meditation, chanting, and sutra recitation. in tiantai buddhism, nature is often seen as a manifestation of the buddha's teachings, reflecting the interdependent and impermanent nature of existence. the beauty and tranquility of natural landscapes serve as reminders of the dharma, encouraging contemplation, mindfulness, and a sense of interconnectedness with all living beings.

Amazing temple, in a great location. Don't miss it if you happen to be in the area. Incredible energy still present after 1500 years, highly recomended if you love buddhism, meditation and oriental philosophies. Visited in May 2016 , I would love to go back one day

Absolutely worth a visit. Bring your camera and a bottle water. Be mindful of the morals and beliefs that are still a strong virtue here (such as not stepping on the doorways (step over)). Take your time to read the information boards available to learn deep history. Only a few RMB to enter. If driving, recommend you tell security you are staying at the hotel just up the road and then walk, as opposed to walking all the way up the mountain road (my local contacts did this). In the summer time it is best to go in the morning due to heat.

The Tiantai sect is the first Chinese Buddhist sect to evolve from the original Buddhism after it was spread to China. Its founder, Master Zhizhe, lived on Mount Tiantai in Zhejiang for a long time - hence the name Tiantai sect。 From there, the Tiantai sect of Buddhism spread to both Korea and Japan during the Tang Dynasty 。

(Translated by Google) I must have been to this place four times... I heard that the Five Hundred Arhats here are fighting against the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva on Mount Putuo~ 🤭🤭🤭 Tiantai Mountain Guoqing Temple is a Buddhist temple located at the foothills of Tiantai Mountain in the north of Tiantai County, Taizhou, Zhejiang, China. It was built in the Sui Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,400 years. It is the ancestral hall of the Tiantai Sect of Chinese Buddhism and the Tiantai Sect of Japanese Buddhism. The temple was built in the 18th year of the founding of Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty (598). It was first named Tiantai Temple. Later, it was renamed Guoqing Temple because "if the temple is completed, the country will be clear". The temple covers an area of 73,000 square meters. The existing building was rebuilt by imperial decree in the 12th year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1734). After Master Zhizhe established his teachings in Tiantai Mountain, he stipulated that the Bon Dharma Ceremony be held every year in various temples and nunneries. The time is from the ninth to the fifteenth day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar, a total of seven days. I thought it was a way to repay my parents for their kindness in raising me, and also to extend my life. At that time, believers from home and abroad gathered, numbering in the thousands. During the Dharma Assembly, the leader of the group lectures on the Ullambana Sutra in the Miaofa Hall every morning for about 2 hours. Tiantai Mountain (Tiantai Sect) practices based on the Lotus Sutra ~ The Great Compassion Repentance Ritual and the Fasting Heaven Ritual... were also edited by Master Wise Man (Original)

The 5 yuan ticket has not changed for decades, and in recent years it has even been canceled to free admission. During the epidemic period, you can enter after registering personal information and taking a temperature check with a bright code. Sui Tower and Sui Mei should be the most well-known labels, the only ones in China.

(Translated by Google) The fairy spirit is overwhelming and the landscape is beautiful. One step at a time, perfect for walking and taking photos. It's a pity that the people in Qiang are uncivilized. They either spit or litter everywhere. They pick flowers and plants and explain the names of plants to their children. They think they are educating, but they actually damage the environment.

(Translated by Google) The water in this pool is called Longtan. Scientific researchers have penetrated more than 40 meters into the water and still cannot find the bottom, and there are derived caves. The negative ion content here is also very high. Although I am tired after the climb, I think it is worth it. It is recommended to walk from top to bottom. Because some sections of the road are steep, the car is arranged to connect on the other side.
