When I visited in the fall, I missed it, but there were many swans on the lake, which is why it is called Swan Lake. This time I visited in March. The lake is spacious but covered in snow. Having said that, there is something about the magnificent lake that is overwhelming just by looking at it. Due to the deep snow, we were not able to go to the lakeside, but there is a place at the attached roadside station where you can see the lake, so it might be a good idea to climb up there.

In recent years, sand has been flowing rapidly from the sandbar, and due to rising sea levels due to global warming, the sandbar has become narrower year by year, and the sea has been pushing closer to the road. Furthermore, the peninsula itself is sinking at a rate of 1.5 cm per year. Recently, entry has become increasingly prohibited due to weather conditions such as low pressure, earthquakes, and storm surges, and there are concerns that the sandbars and roads will be severed by seawater in the near future, turning the Notsuke Peninsula into an island rather than a peninsula, and the Notsuke Peninsula itself will disappear. ing. (Translated by Google) A unique scenic spot worth visiting at least once. The Notsuke Peninsula is the largest sand spit in Japan facing the Sea of Okhotsk, located in the eastern tip of Hokkaido in the towns of Shibetsu and Betsukai. When you enter the Notsuke Peninsula on Route 950, you will see the sea on both sides of the road (peninsula), except for a few fishing facilities. On the left is the rough waves of the Sea of Okhotsk, while on the right (Notsuke Bay) is the calm shallow water, creating a contrasting landscape. A single road stretches for about 20km on flat terrain, and there are almost no man-made objects in sight, so the sky is wide open. Coupled with the scenery of Todowara (remains of a dead and rotting Sakhalin fir forest) and Narawara (remains of a dead oak forest), a unique landscape often referred to as the ``end of the world'' or ``the end of the world'' spreads out. If you look at it blankly, you'll feel like you're out of the ordinary, like you don't know where you are. The weather was good on the day I visited (October 2020), so this was the last unexplored area! We could also see the Shiretoko Peninsula and Kunashiri Island in the Northern Territories nearby. It also seems to be a popular spot for bird watching, with many waterbirds resting in the shallow waters on the bay side. Furthermore, we saw sika deer here and there (the male one I saw up close in the parking lot was surprisingly large). In terms of access, it is quite difficult to get to from outside Hokkaido, but if you have a chance to go nearby (eastern Hokkaido?), I highly recommend that you take the time to visit. Although there are still some Sakhalin firs left in Narawara, they can only be seen from the road, and because they are so far away, if you want to take photos, you will need a good telephoto lens. From the Nature Center, I took a flower carriage that was operating at that time to Todowara. The scenery of the driftwood-like fir rolling on the desolate land is a masterpiece. It seems that it will disappear someday. I can see it and it's incredible. (Translated by Google) It is a scenic spot where you can see weathered Sakhalin firs that spread out from the middle of Notsuke Peninsula. There is a boardwalk at the far end, and I went around it in about 70-80 minutes. It looks like summer is in full bloom. (Translated by Google) Because I walked with my legs out, I was bitten by horseflies and mosquitoes. Like insect repellent! If you walk for about 20 minutes, you will arrive, but there is almost no Todowara left. It seems to have returned to nature. Well, the shallow sea feels like the farthest (Original)

(Translated by Google) The Notsuke Peninsula is a wonderful place, including this scenery. This vast sand spit terrain was very nice and worth seeing. It looks like the dead firs will be completely gone soon. Even though it was already mid-September, I was bitten by a large number of large mosquitoes, and the itching was extremely painful. According to the locals, the outbreak had subsided considerably a week ago, but it seems to have suddenly flared up again. If you visit when it's warm, it's best to take precautions against mosquitoes.

(Translated by Google) I was looking forward to going there, but there was almost nothing. At the end of the Showa era, the trees were standing and withered, giving an unforgettable sight that felt like the end of the world. This time, if I had read the new information here, I wouldn't have regretted it. There is a promenade, but it takes 20 minutes along a narrow path covered in pampas grass. The tractor costs 1,000 yen round trip to the tour site. Luckily the tide was low on the day I went, but there were no dead trees. A few remaining trees were placed in front of the nature center. If you are planning to visit here, please take a look at the recent pictures. (Translated by Google) 2023/7/26 When I visited 4 years ago, it was evening and the tractor bus was in a rush as it was the last one to arrive. This time, we enjoyed walking on the sidewalk early in the morning while admiring the surrounding scenery. The path is narrow and overgrown with grass, so long pants are recommended. I was getting a little tired of the difficulty of walking, but I was excited to see so many deer⤴️⤴️ Passing through the grass walkway is a walkway over the sea. The sea breeze in the morning felt so good ☺️ I happened to meet a person and talked to him, and he discovered that he had been here since 5am, and the sea surface was completely white with fog! Apparently it was wonderful. The atmosphere and feeling of Todwara was different from last time⋅⋅⋅For better or for worse🤔 The portable toilet has become a regular toilet. But depending on the time, water may not come out. I looked in it out of curiosity and found some water left, and when I tried to flush it out, no water came out. It's someone else's though😅 Will water for the toilets be brought from the facility? Is it still early in the morning? I guess it's a toilet for times of crisis (lol) It took me almost an hour and a half round trip😄 (Original) 2023/7/26 4年前に訪れた時は夕方で、トラクターバスも最終で慌ただしかった💦 今回は早朝、周辺の景色を眺めながら歩道を楽しみました。

(Translated by Google) When I came here three years ago, there were fewer standing and withered Todomatsu trees than in the tourist guide's photos, but this time almost all of them were gone. The sandbar itself is thin and thin, and I don't think there is much time left to enjoy the feeling of being at the very end. I guess it is nature itself that changes its shape from moment to moment. (Translated by Google) Nosuke Peninsula came here specifically because of the influence of YT. There are so many Ezo deer here. People who don’t get tired of deer in Hokkaido can see it here! ! There were herds of deer everywhere...and there were so many of them! Moreover, they were grazing slowly, and some deer were not afraid of people and would even cross the road, which was quite amazing. Although it was not a sunny day and it was windy, it was still worth pursuing, but it was a pity! There are so many mosquitoes here that it's terrifying... As soon as you get off the bus, you will be surrounded by a group of unimaginable numbers... You can kill a few of them casually, so it is recommended to pack tightly before going out, otherwise such ferocious mosquitoes will be very frustrating! It's not an exaggeration...it's really scary in the summer...I almost see everyone waving the air all the time (to swat mosquitoes) (Original)
