Entsū-ji Temple

Buddhist temple
Entsū-ji Temple, a serene Zen Buddhist temple established in the 1600s, is renowned for its captivating autumn foliage and a garden that perfectly frames the majestic Mt. Hiei. The garden employs the shakkei technique, incorporating the natural mountains as part of its design to create a tranquil atmosphere that captivates visitors. Many find themselves drawn to this hidden gem for its breathtaking views and calming ambiance, making it a favorite spot for many travelers.
Japanese historical perspective. Beautiful rhododendron in April and gorgeous views. The architecture and layout seems quite different to others.

Mindblowing! I cannot express how I miss this place and its serenity. My favorite spot in Japan and perhaps in the world. You can visit Tadao Ando's open exhibition (see Garden of Fine Arts) near the subway in the same area in order to experience the continuity between traditional borrowed scenery and modern Japanese architecture.
Elnurə Hüseynova — Google review
It is a sublime moment to contemplate in front of the garden that frames Mount Hiei in its background. It's one of the best example of 'shakkei' (borrowed scenery) I ever know. It's a bit out of the centre but definitely worth a visit.

Entsuji Temple belongs to Myoshin sect which is a branch of Rinzai sect of Buddhism. It was formerly Hataeda Palace. The temple was built in 1678 by a nun serving a mother of Emperor Gomizuno. When it was built the tenth head of Myoshinji Temple ( in Hanazono ) was appointed to become the first head priest of Entsuji. The temple holds a wooden block with engraved sutra sent from China and a scrool made by Emperor Reigen as its cultural treasure. The temple is known for the beauty of a Karesansui ( dry stone garden ) with a picturesque borrowed landscape of Mt. Hiei in the backdrop. The view of the Mt. Hiei from here has been designated as a national site of scenic beauty. There are about 40 stones in the garden that are arranged by Emperor Gosuio himself. The main object of worship is Seikannon Statue.

I loved to see trees planted in a linear manner. The contrast of trees and Mt. Hiei was so beautiful. Noted on my wonder-tips site.

Walked up there, found it by 4:30pm, when a monk was just closing the gates. He said it closes at 4:00 not 5:00 as it says on google. We begged to be allowed to just look for 5 minutes (we had come such a long way) and he summarily refused. Not very tourist friendly.

Gōshōji Temple, a Buddhist temple established in the 8th century, includes a central hall, sanctuary and botanical garden. The religious site is adorned with intricate architecture and lush greenery. The shrine serves as a place of worship for followers of Buddhism. Visitors can appreciate the serene atmosphere while exploring the tranquil gardens surrounding the temple. This ancient place stands as a symbol of spiritual significance and historical importance for those who seek to connect with Buddhist culture and tradition.
This temple is a nice, quiet place to meditate and pray. There is a lot of natural beauty surrounding the temple. The fragrance of the incense and the beauty of the garden create a kind of feeling that only a Japanese temple can bring.

(Translated by Google) I visited you on a bicycle pilgrimage. It is approximately 8km from Doryuji Temple, the 77th temple, and is a mostly flat route. There is Marugame Castle on the way, so it might be a good idea to stop by. Marugame Castle has the tallest stone wall in Japan and is one of the 12 remaining castle towers. Once you pass the intersection in front of Utazu Station, there will be no "→" signpost on the left, so please be careful. There was a "→" on the sidewalk on the right, probably because pedestrians drive on the right. There are sidewalks on both sides, so am I the only one who thinks it would be nice if there were sidewalks on the left side as well? It is said that Gosho-ji Temple was founded in 725 (Kanki 2nd year) by the Bodhisattva Gyoki as ``Bukkozan Dojo-ji Temple.'' Later, in 815 (Konin 6), Ambassador Kobo visited this place at the age of 42, carved a self-made statue, and made a vow to ward off evil spirits. For this reason, he is worshiped as the ``Utazu Daishi to ward off evil spirits''. In 1288 (first year of Shōō), Ippen Shonin, the founder of the Jishu sect, added the tradition of the Jodo practice method, and it is said that the two teachings of Shingon and Nembutsu were introduced. The temple tower and temple were destroyed by fire during the Tensho War (1576-1585). In the Edo period, it was rebuilt by Yorishige Matsudaira, the lord of the Takamatsu domain. At that time, it was decided that along with the Shingon sect, the Ji sect would also be held in memory of Ippen Shonin, and the name of the temple was changed to Goshoji. It is the only temple in Shikoku that spans both Shingon and Jishu sects. There is a strolling garden with a pond on the grounds, and in spring, azaleas and azaleas bloom and decorate the garden. Beautiful looking building. But if you’re going there to watch the sunset, be aware that they close at 18:00 (6:00PM) on weekdays, making this impossible in the summer months. Really liked the look of the clouds today and was excited to see how they’d look at sunset. Darn. I’ll have to try again in the winter.

Most of the attractions here are for kids because it is a play park. However, on the top 3 floors, there is an observatory that allows you a very pleasant view. Cost per person (adult) for the experience is 1200¥. It is a unique view and is located at an accessible location in Utazu. It’s across from the Shikoku Aquarium and a short walk from the Aeon Mall Utazu.

In addition, the inside of the theater is constantly ventilated using an air conditioning system that meets the standards set forth in the Act on Maintaining a Sanitary Environment in Buildings (Building Management Act) and the Act on Performance Halls. is. There is ample parking space for 1,330 spaces, which is shared with Aeon Town Utazu and other stores on the premises. (Translated by Google) There are fewer movies than Ayagawa, but it is convenient because you can park in the nearby parking lot and go straight to the ticket office and then take the stairs to the theater on the second floor. The toilet is on the first floor, but it's spacious, there are no lines, and it's clean. (Original) 取り扱い映画が綾川よりも少ないですが近くの駐車場に停めて入るとすぐにチケット売場、階段で2階の劇場と着くので便利です。トイレは1階だけど広くて列はなく、清潔。

(Translated by Google) It's not bad, but I wish Ayagawa and Takamatsu would introduce IMAX and DOLBYATMOS. It's tiring to go to Okayama or Matsuyama every time there's a movie I really want to see. (Original) 悪くはないのですが綾川も高松もIMAXやDOLBYATMOSを導入してほしい。ガチで見たい映画がある度に岡山や松山まで行くのはしんどい。
