The art drawings were incredibly amazing

Nice little museum to learn about the history of okayama. Some were in English. There is a quiet space for you on the same floor which overlooks the okayama Station and areas around it.

Quite expensive, the exhibition was very pretty but also very small. 1300¥ is maybe not worth it

(Translated by Google) 2024.1.27 Visited from outside the prefecture during the "Hoki Museum Masterpieces Exhibition II". It's a very nice museum. The work is not affiliated with this museum, so I cannot evaluate it, but the air conditioning was too hot. It was a fairly cold day outside, but the large number of people and the air conditioning made it difficult to concentrate. There is also a free exhibition room of the Okayama Air Raid, where you can remember the past. (Original) ティラノサウルス展に伺いました。展示の数は多くなかったですが、子供が満喫してくれて楽しめました。無料の岡山空襲の展示室もあり往時を偲ぶことができます。

This ancient temple has a bike road and is a picturesque site to visit at any time of the year with its beautiful floral displays. The 5-story pagoda, which stands tall beside the temple, is an iconic symbol of Soja visible from all directions.
I rate this 5 stars because it’s all I expected it to be, quite, beautiful surrounded by rice field 🌾 it’s like perfectly japan from a magazine. It’s hard to get .. I visit on summer with the free bus from Okayama. It was worth it

Most amazing thing to see , specially in sakura season; just amazing

It was part of our bicycle trail for Kibi plains. Worth a visit if you're nearby :) there's a shop selling ice cream, drinks and some souvenir. It was our first time trying amazake, and it was surprisingly delicious!

I like mainly walking around this temple, as it has very rich history dating back to 7th century. Beautiful walking paths both for walking and cycling

As any old temple in Japan, this is just as beautiful with a bike road.

Kinojo Castle Ruins

Mentioned on
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Kinojo Castle Ruins, located northwest of Kibitsu Shrine in Okayama City, is a centuries-old fortress perched on the 1300 ft summit of Mt Kinojo. The site offers reconstructed buildings, extensive earthworks, and stone walls that provide stunning city views. With a history dating back 1300 years and connections to the legend of Momotaro, this legendary ruin is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
We had a great walk/hike on the clearly marked trails around the castle ruins. Such wonderful views of the entire distant area. Purchased (200 yen) a helpful map at the visitor center. We parked at parking lot 7 in the park below the ruins for an additional 2 mile (each way) walk up the fairly graded road, including thru the side marked side trail. Many small water falls in the running stream. Pics of walk (in April) to visitor center.

The view is very beautiful! Don’t miss it if you like Japanese fairytale. There is no shop in this place, do not forget bringing some water with you!
JK Wu — Google review
The reconstructed gate of the Kinojo ruins is amazing and really needs to be seen. The gate, however, is not the only thing to enjoy here. There is a range of walking trails and great views over Kurashiki. The path to the gate is wheelchair accessible, there is free parking and toilets attached to the information center.
Judy OBrien — Google review
It can treat as a hiking place! It takes you an hour to walk a round! However if you are looking for a castle…it is not but only a reconstructed ruins
Trevy C — Google review
It's apparently the oldest castle/gatehouse in Japan! It has been rebuilt but if you are disappointed hearing that and dont want to go anymore, don't be! Because the views are breathtaking! If you are thinking of hiking up this steep hill then I recommend going early. I managed to hitchhike from the 500m mark as I was never going to reach the top in time for the last train... You walk through a lovely park too before venturing up the slope and vast rice lands from the station.

Nice to come to on a sunny day. For access, visit Soja Station tourism info center, they will give you instructions to purchase a sightseeing pass from the JR ticket office which is good for a 2 hour taxi ride round trip for ¥5500. Taxi driver will drive you up to Kinojo, and wait for you to explore as long as you return with time to get back to Soja station within the 2 hour time limit.
Michael Suzuki — Google review
It has great view around ! beautiful mountain and sky and Setouchi inlnd sea were great combination. The old castle gate is rebuild and its technique are interesting. also the way to create solid grounds are very interesting to learn at visitor centnr.

Hofuku Temple

The Iyama Hofukuji Temple, while not extraordinary in comparison to other temples, currently boasts magnificent maple trees within its premises. These vibrant trees offer a stunning display of autumnal hues, making a visit well worthwhile. Moreover, situated along the Kibiji cycling trail starting from Soja, this temple provides an excellent opportunity for an enjoyable and active day out amidst picturesque surroundings. Appreciating the natural beauty of the temple's surroundings is truly satisfying and contributes to its overall appeal.
Went here yesterday and it was good to see some foliage in its autumn colors.
Sayaka Kondo — Google review
Visited Iyama Hofukuji Temple 2 days ago, famously associated with the Sesshū Toyo’s early development in Buddhism, who eventually became the greatest painter in Japanese history. The popular tale is that as a child, Sesshū was a gifted young painter who spent more time drawing than meditating and as a form of punishment, was tied to a post by the priest causing him to cry. His tears then depicted a mouse which impressed the priest as he thought it was a real mouse because it looked so lifelike, who then allowed Sesshū to continue painting. As such, there are two statues found in the temple depicting him tied up with a rat by his side. Apart from this, the temple is also a popular autumn foliage viewing spot in Okayama prefecture. The temple was actually pretty easy to get to from Soja Station which was only a 30 mins walk. Although it wasn’t as impressive as the other maple viewing sights we’ve been to, Iyama Hofukuji Temple has it’s own charm which still makes for a good place to visit if you’re in the neighbourhood.
Shingo — Google review
The temple itself is pretty run of the mill as temples go but at the moment the maple trees in the grounds are glorious. Well worth a visit. In fact the whole Kibiji cycling trail from Soja makes for a great, active day out.

Noumaru Engei Kibiji Farm

Mentioned on
Farmers' market
Sights & Landmarks
Noumaru Engei Kibiji Farm offers reasonably priced locally grown white peaches and Shine Muscat grapes, which are significantly cheaper than the same fruits sold in other areas of Tokyo. Additionally, the farm provides limited slots for strawberry picking, which requires visitors to arrive early at opening to secure a spot. Strawberry lovers can relish 45 minutes of strawberry picking and eating.
As there are limited slots available for strawberry picking, be sure to arrive early at opening to secure a spot. Thereafter enjoy 45 mins of strawberry picking and eating.

We drove out on a day trip from Kurashiki and arrived after around 45 minutes. The carpark was packed but staff were on hand to guide vehicles into the appropriate lots. The lotus root croquette at the entrance was really tasty and was good value at 130 yen. The salt chicken and flavoured chicken were okay, if a tad dry. There were fruits and vegetables galore, and we bought two packs of strawberries, as well as some mikan or oranges. For plants and flower lovers, this was also a great place and the group ended up buying hydrangeas and Japanese figs plants, as well as sanshos. They have a bakery onsite, as well as a stall selling bento lunches too.

You should go here if you are on kibi road cycling. It is near. The strawberry are big and sweet. Unfortunately there was no condensed milk or any complementary sweets or drinks like the Haru Ichigo Farm in Osaka. And the time limit is only one hour
Leslie Amelia Kosasih — Google review
Very fair prices for locally grown white peaches. Bought a small bunch of shine Muscat grapes which were also delicious. In my later travels around Tokyo, the same fruit was 2-3x the price they are selling here!

(Translated by Google) There were some bargain strawberries. There were plenty of perfectly ripe strawberries on sale for half to 30% off, without any damage at all. I was grateful and bought a box to give as a souvenir for my grandson. There was also a bakery, and I bought some that looked delicious at a reasonable price. The kimchi sold by the lady at the entrance is very delicious and a bit pricey, but I think it's irresistible for kimchi lovers. I also bought some very good vegetable seedlings.

(Translated by Google) A commercial facility loved by many people, with a direct sales store for locally grown fruits and vegetables, a store selling flowers, seedlings, ornamental plants, and gardening supplies, strawberry picking, snacks, cakes, a bakery, a dog run, and even an RV park. I thought it was. It's fun just looking around at the flowers and ornamental plants, or you can relax at a cafe with sweets and coffee, or buy bread, fruits, and vegetables as souvenirs to enjoy at home. Nowadays, many people drive to the roadside station to visit the direct sales office, but since the direct sales office here is large and also has sweets and a bakery, we recommend adding it to your roadside station itinerary.

(Translated by Google) “Nomaru Gardening”, which I visit several times a year It's a large-scale gardening shop that also does strawberry picking. The strawberry parfait is cheap, cost-effective, and delicious♪ I sometimes see it on holidays when I go to the parking lot to sell it. I really like charcoal-grilled red chicken 😋 Because it is a parent chicken, the meat is hard and has a crunchy texture. When you bite into it, the flavor of the meat spreads out. And when you think of Okayama, you think of ``chirashi sushi.'' At this time of year, I put strawberries on top ꉂꉂ(>ᗜ<*) If you look closely, the vinegared rice is red❗️Maybe it's strawberry vinegar❓ When I offered strawberries as usual...I ate one... My wife pushed back saying "I don't need it" ((((;゚Д゚))))))) My wife likes the harmony of chirashi sushi and strawberries. It seems like it wasn't accepted.
