Atuh Beach

Mentioned on
Beach
Outdoor Activities
Atuh Beach is a stunning and popular destination located on the south end of Penida island. Unlike some other beaches in the area, Atuh offers amenities such as sunbeds, beanbags, and food and drink shacks. The beach is known for its picturesque setting beneath towering cliffs and features a sandy shore with offshore rock formations. One of the highlights of Atuh Beach is a large rock formation in the ocean that resembles an elephant or stiletto, depending on who you ask.
"Atuh Beach in Nusa Penida, Bali is an absolute gem! The beauty of this beach is simply breathtaking. With its crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand, and majestic cliffs, it's a photographer's paradise. However, it's important to note that reaching the beach requires a challenging climb down. The path can be quite steep and may require some effort. Despite the task, the reward of reaching the beach is well worth it. Just be prepared for the descent and take caution while making your way down. Highly recommended for those seeking a picture-perfect beach experience in Nusa Penida!"

Beautiful beach. Hard to swim though because waves are very active and the bottom is very rocky & you can’t stand up in the water. You have to pay to use the swings. 10k. The walk down is only about 10 minutes.

One of the popular beaches in Penida island. Road was a little bit rough to go on motorbikes in 2019. Stairs are also quite a challenge for me and my friends but not too steep. This beach has a very stunning scenery with lots of gorgeous reefs. Nice place to hang with friends and to sunbathe.

January 2024 Breathtaking views from the top and a hell of a trek to get to the bottom if you dare. We didn’t go to the bottom. Extremely hot. Extremely steep giant sized stairs. Would be beautiful but we had a full program planned and not enough time. Very popular tourist destination.

It is a lot of effort to get to the beach. Make sure you go to the South side of the bay. That is the proper stairs. We went to the other side and this was the pathway that locals use and it is basically a very scary and dangerous goat track down a cliff face! We went down and up very slowly and carefully. The beach has sun beds for hire and bars. The sand is rocky as is the entry into the ocean. The topography also drops very suddenly down in the water. The ocean can be rough so you need to be a strong swimmer. It is beautiful to look at but I’m from Western Australia and therefore spoilt with easy to access, free public amenities, and fab sand and water with lifeguards. So this is just a bit too much work for a swim for my liking.

Atuh Beach is a hidden beach on Nusa Penida that will take your breath away with its clifftop vistas. It’s a little tricky to get to but you won’t regret it. Atuh Beach was one of my favourite and most enjoyable things I have done on Nusa Penida. In fact, it was so relaxing lying on a binbag and taking in the views of the turquoise bay in front of me, that I did not want to leave!

The expression that says it's hard to get is hard to forget, it's true. Not an easy terrain to get to the beach. Need a really fit physical struggle, plus the scorching heat of the sun. But in the end all paid off by the truly stunning natural beauty. Deep Blue sea, Blue sky, swaying Coconut trees, embellished by blooming Plumeria. Thank you so much universe :) Photo captured on 23 May 2016

Atuh Beach in Nusa Penida is a secluded gem worth the journey. The rugged road to get there adds to the adventure. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a stunning white-sand beach, surrounded by towering cliffs. The natural beauty is striking, making it perfect for relaxation and swimming. Snorkeling is a highlight with colorful coral reefs. Keep in mind that facilities are basic, but local warungs offer simple, tasty food. Atuh Beach is a peaceful escape from the crowds, offering a genuine taste of Nusa Penida’s unspoiled charm.

Need extra energy to arrive down to the beach.. once you arrive there... So beautiful n mesmerized to ur mind... amazing sea...waves..skies... It's all heaven in Nusa Penida the blue paradise Island they say..

Really beautiful sunrise! The parking place is the same as for the Dimond Beach, so you can see 2 spots at once. You can not really swim in these beaches so if you really want to enjoy it, go early to see the sunrise. The nice spots will be empty as there are not a lot of tourists at this time.
Guih Vicentini — Google review
Great beach. It has Stones and some corals so you have to be careful when entering to the water. But there is a lot less people that in the west coast of the island and you have more sand. There are also bars. The view is amazing, but the stairs to get here can be a little challenging.

Nice clean beach, not crowded. Its better to enter the beach from Diamond beach side. While entering from Atuh beach steps, locals there charge 50k for two peoples to park, they say parking is free but one has to buy drinks from them. After one buys, another person comes up & says for a small amount of cash they will bring our vehicle to diamond beach side as it will be tiring for visitors to step down to Atuh, go up & down to Diamond, climb back up & down to Atuh beach parking. So better to park near Diamond beach & visit both Diamond & Atuh
GOPALKRISHNA BHAT — Google review
Not for the faint hearted, do not attempt if you have a strong fear of heights. Absolutely stunning beach but the climb down & up had me in tears & on the verge of a panic attack, if you have a fear of heights I'd recommend not going down, the beach is gorgeous but you can't really swim & it's not worth the terrifying climb just to access the beach. If you are fine with heights & are fit (the climb up requires you to be able to pull your body weight via rope) then by all means go for it! The sand "stairs" are very slippery & steep, proceed with extreme caution, one slip could easily be fatal.
Alana — Google review
We spent a nice time in this beach. There are some stairs to go down, so it’s good to wear good shoes as it can be slippery with the sand. We arrived in the morning around 10:30 and the water color was gorgeous, with beautiful light blue shades. When we left around 14:00 the tide was low and we could see all the rocks and the water color was not as turquoise as in the morning. So I’d recommend coming in the morning if you can.
Larissa Terumi Arashiro — Google review
The road was pretty new and in excellent conditions all the way to the parking. You need to pay 20k and then you can go downstairs. The stairs are very slippery and in bad shape, so make sure to go slow and to take with you running shoes. Nice beach with a lot of seller and umbrellas. At low tides water is very very far. Bring you watershoes as there is a lot of rocks. You can also just cross the beach and climb the stairs on the other side to go to diamond viewpoint. theses stairs are in better shapes. By car, diamond is 30 minutes away, as the road is not connecting, so it’s easier to walk.
Tina Boudreault — Google review
Atuh Beach is located beside Diamond Beach. You can see the view of the beach from the top. There aren't many people going Atuh Beach after they visit Diamond Beach. You will need to make a 10 to 15 minutes descent down to the beach. I was too tired, so I didn't make the trip down to see the view of the beach from ground level.
Lea L — Google review
Two fantastic beaches for the price of one. Since Atuh Beach and Diamond Beach are right next to each other, you practically get a double feature here. Diamond Beach, however, is hardly accessible, especially at high tide. You have to decide for yourself if you want to do the descent or if the view from the top is enough (the view is jaw dropping in any case). The descent to Atuh Beach is quite exhausting, but nothing compared to the ascent. You should definitely be aware of this when you set off. The view and the atmosphere are beautiful and unparalleled. The sea, however, is very rough, so swimming is only possible to a limited extent and snorkelling is almost impossible. In addition, there is so little water on the beach at low tide that you can't swim anyway. All the beach beds cost the same, but some offer a discount if you say that you will only be staying for 1-2 hours. If you want to relax on a heavenly beach and enjoy simply lying by the sea and watching the waves break on the rocks, you will definitely get your money's worth.
Oleg Boleg — Google review
Gorgeous beach! We got here early.. around 7 am and basically had the beach all to ourselves. It was lovely. Definitely a trek to get down including holding a rope to rock climb down. I did it in sandals and was fine, but be careful.

Goa Giri Putri Temple

Mentioned on
Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Goa Giri Putri Temple is a Hindu temple nestled inside a vast limestone cave on the eastern side of Penida. Accessible via a steep staircase and a narrow passage, the cave opens up to an expansive 300-meter-long space with towering rock ceilings. Despite being off the tourist trail, it offers an authentic cultural experience. Visitors should be physically fit to navigate through the cave's entrance and exit.
One of the most impressive temples in Bali. After a long drive to reach it, you park at the base of the temple, rent a Sarong (if you don't have one) then walk up to the temple. You might pass some monkeys on the way, to then pay a donation in order to enter the temple. If you're claustrophobic, maybe pass this one as you enter via a small rock gap. However when it opens up shortly after entering its amazing. A great place to visit in Penida!
Fraser McKnespiey — Google review
🌼 Best thing I did on Penida! A beautiful experience, a gorgeous temple, a steep walk to get up there and a leisurely one on the way out. 10k to rent a sarong, with cheap water for sale there too. The climb in wasn’t as scary as I thought- if you’re of average build with a backpack, you’ll be more than okay. It is, obviously, not accessible by those who have mobility issues or who would struggle to crawl. It’s beautiful inside but you need to be quiet and respectful, so be mindful when bringing children. I was invited to pray with a Balinese family and the blessing and service was incredible. When you walk out, keep going straight, don’t go up the decorated stairs! I went the wrong way as there’s no signs. The walk out has rubbish around it, but this is an undeveloped island with heavy touristic footfall- what else would you expect, unfortunately. 50k entrance is well worth it
Lauren Austin — Google review
This is a sacred place. Please be respectful and follow all the rules like wearing sarong and other required cloths. Did not go up to 7 min to reach the temple at the top.
Budy Wuysang — Google review
An amazing experience of a traditional Hindu Balinese temple in a cave. Since we were Hindus the priest let us pray inside the main worship area and he also taught us their way of worshiping. It was really a great experience! Was also just 2min from our hotel at Nusa Penida. Also you need to rent a sarong before you enter the temple. A must visit place if you are staying at Nusa Penida!
Chandrani Banerjee — Google review
Great cave, and unexpected surprise after a short walk upstairs, accompanied by monkeys. Cave is huge and if you're lucky you may view some praying time. Light is scarse and there is usually some encens smoke but it provides a nice atmosphere. Main issue that cost 1 star (almost 2), is the sarong rental (20k) and the entrance fee (50k), given to people that spend their day on You1ube and insta9ram. Sad.
Flaco Fabian — Google review
The temple is in a cave with quite difficult access, but 100% worth it. Opposite the entrance, you can rent a sarong for a small fee, which is required to enter the temple. There’s also a small, free parking spot. The atmosphere and experience are unforgettable… 🫶🏻 Donation before the entrance.
Dominika — Google review
When you arrive in front of the pathway to the temple, you are required to pay to rent a sarong in order to enter the temple. However, climbing the stairs up to the cave with sarong is not an easy feat. Please be careful. When arriving at the entrance of the cave, you will need to make a donation to enter the cave temple, and they will offer you a cup of disposable water. When entering, please make sure to wear shoes, not slippers. I wore slippers and slipped my way down into the cave temple 😅. Luckily, I wasn't hurt. It's very dark, you can hear the bats making noises. It is huge from the inside. Although they have a lot of space, they didn't have a lot of things placed in the cave. We spotted a few of the temple staff resting in the cave with fan blowing at them 😂. After walking to the end of the cave, you will need to walk down a flight of stairs to ground level. Upon reaching ground level, you will walk down a street at the back of people's houses, filled with trash, to get to the street you came from.
Lea L — Google review
The entrance of the cave is a bit small. But the main area is very wide and amazing!
Dwi Alfia Rizkiyani — Google review
Amazing Hindu temple that’s actually inside a cave! Lots of steps to get to the top. You enter through a hole into the cave. Very humid and warm in side. Also home to a species of long legged crab found only in side the cave.
Andyy Leigh — Google review
An interesting temple, hidden in a huge cave. Only for physically fit people: you will go up the hill, then have a first ceremony, then squeeze down into narrow hole in the cliff and participate in the next 2-3 ceremonies with locals. It was a special spiritual experience 🙏❤️ p.s. It's expected to donate 50 idr p.p. YOU MUST WEAR A SARONG HERE
Julia Julaki — Google review
Ticket minimum 50k, but the temple is different from the others and most interesting I saw so far. To get inside the temple/ cave, you must basically crawl. Definitely worth time and money
Marius Prieskenis — Google review
This magical place is not on the tourist radar. It’s probably the most culturally “pure” site that I’ve been to in the Bali region. You definitely need to be fit to get in and out of the cave though. The cave is also the sole habitat of 2 critically endangered crab species (didn’t see them), oh and small bats too (very cute really). Shame again about the rubbish that the locals live amongst.
Natasha Georgiou — Google review
Nice temple inside the cave. Parking is free. You have to pay 15000 per person to rent Sarong because you cannot enter the temple without it. You find the Sarong rental and some shops for souvenirs, snacks and drinks at the parking and if you don’t see it then they see you and call you up to rent the Sarong😂 You have walk about 60-70 steps to reach the actual temple. It costs 50000 per person for foreign nationals to enter the temple and you also fill out your details in a register. The entrance to the cave is very small through stones but once you enter, the cave is pretty big. It is a Hindu temple. The head priest also blesses you with holy water. If you are lucky, you will also see local people doing their traditional worships. You also find a rare breed of crabs in the temple, very small and only found in this cave in the whole world. It is an endangered species. You can find more details on google. I strongly suggest not to annoy the crabs and people in the temple and behave well. You can reach the temple by scooter. The road is good.
Nishant Kothari — Google review
Quite a cool experience. You start off by climbing 136 steps to be exact. After which, you will be blessed by the temple’s water and you will enter via a small hole. In the cave, there’s nothing much but to just admire the surrounding. At the end of the cave, you will exit via a different route which you have to walk approx 200-300m to where the stairs were initially were.

First timer here. Here's what to expect. - 100+ stairs to reach the entrance - free mineral water when you arrive - need to wear 'kamen' before entering - make sure your phone can capure good night picture as lights are quite scarce - no internet connection once you are inside - you will descend into a cave, not good for those with enclosed space phobia - inside you will face with a 'silent hill' vibe - got about 6 places to pray, so bring ample praying supplies - when finished with everything, there will be stairs down, though not as challenging as the first.

One of Balinese sacred hindu temple. Located inside the cave, you'll have to climb up the stairs before you get into the entrance. At the entrance gate, you're going to register yourself to the temple guard and give some donations to the donation box. (Commonly ppl give 20-50k IDR) To enter the temple, the only access is through the small hole and you'll have to crawl approx. 3 meters long. I came on Diwali day so I get a chance to do "Melukat" by a local priest. Very soothing experience ☺

Guyangan Waterfall Nusa Penida: Located on the famous Nusa Penida beach, this waterfall is a popular attraction with stunning ocean views. The waterfall is located on steep stairs that lead down to the waterfalls, making it an easy attraction to visit.
Really amazing unconventionally beautiful temple. The effort of walking down the steps, the isolation, the fresh water spring, the rhythm of the waves, everything makes this experience of contemplation very intense and unique. The guardian at the entrance rents sarongs for 20k IR, which is necessary to enter the temple.
Laurent de Mézerac — Google review
This walk and spot is great, but be prepared for a hefty walk down to the bottom. It took around 30-45 minutes each way down somewhat dangerous stairs and ladders. Flip flops are fine. BRING A SARONG. We paid 15k per rent for one. Some good views down too. The temple was cool for its location but not much of a waterfall.
Fraser McKnespiey — Google review
You need your energy to get here. Its will be a reallu long way down the blue stair but its all worth it after all. At first from the top you can only see a forest surrounding the cliff. But after 3/4 way down you can see the sea and a small island. It really beautifull. And there a sacred temple with sacred water. Down the temple there is small pool you can enjoy right above the sea. And to get here you only need to pay 10.000 rupiah, and the money is for renting a saroong to enter the temple.
Ilham Daradjat — Google review
One of the most amazing places I have ever been! The nature here is incredible. And if you survive the (extremely) steep blue stairs all the way to the bottom you are welcomed by a natural infinity pool with an ocean view. Warning: the stairs are very steep and the infinity pool is very slippery. Take it slow!
Noah — Google review
This walk and place is great but be prepared for quite a walk to the bottom. It took about 20-30 minutes to walk up the somewhat dangerous stairs and ladders. BRING A SARONG. I was paying 15k for rent. Many nice views down there too. The temple was great for its location, but it wasn't much of a waterfall. Below is a small temple and 3 pools with the purest water. The views are amazing all the way down The wild ocean is very close!

Such a great place. Hidden in the cliff, steps are bit steep. Need to be extra careful as the way to pool after the temple is so slippery.

wow it's really amazing with blue stairs, the way is far and a little scary but very beautiful down there and yeah everything need effort. For me this is the most beautiful in Nusa Penida, take a walk and test your adrenaline... but don't forget if you want to enter here, wear a sarong

Brilliant place. Terrifying blue steps, so steep and would be slippery when wet. Take care. Must wear sarong on the way down. Great temple and plunge pools at the cliff bottom. Ricks very slippery. Great views from the stairs.

The most breathtaking sightseeing in Penida. This place is a must see! You can also cool down in a swimming pool and enjoy the ocean view.
Maria F — Google review
Way towards the waterfall is not easy, it's around 900 stairs it's a dangerous way downwards the cliff, no place for kids. When you reach the temple go little further and you will find the waterfall with small ponds, view is breathtaking
Rohit Jain — Google review
Wow - words will not suitable sum up my experience. A difficult hike down which takes about 15 minutes. A good level of fitness is required. And no fear of heights, oh and look the other way for health and safety. At the bottom awaits a beautiful cliff side temple and rock pool. Waterfall mostly nonexistent but above elements make this a must do during your travels. Arrive 3pm onwards and you’ll likely be the only persons!
Francis Clarke — Google review
The stairs were extreme to say the least but well worth the trek.. The bathing area was awesome and exilerating.. Beware of the cheeky monkeys on the way out.. Don't forget to hire a traditional sarong due to the area being a temple
Jason Bollenhagen — Google review
A really unusual and interesting holy site that is definitely worth visiting if you are adventurous ! But I understand better now what people mean when they say it is a dangerous path : the stairs are not in the best shape and it can be very slippery at the bottom.
Paul Courty — Google review
You have to pay the bike parking 5000 and rent the sarong for 15000 per person to enter this place , its a very hard way down but worth!!! Make sure you have a water bottle and non slippery footwear, at the very bottom theres a natural pool where you can take a dip and there are fishes that give you a free foot spa dont miss it
Mansoor Ali Sayed — Google review
For me, this is definitely the most beautiful spot in Nusa Penida! You need to be quite fit as there will be more than 700 stairs to get down to the temple, however it is really worth it! There are 3 small natural pools with fresh spring water with sea view. If you are lucky you might see the ceremony.
Valy Lamo — Google review
This place is nice but you have a good amount of hike to reach the natural infinity pool. You atleast need 20 mins to 30 mins to get down to the pool. Way is bit risky. It has big stairs, stair of Steel which doesnt have a proper platform to walk. Getting down here with parents is not at all advisable. You have to get here early or else you will be baked while returning back. You have to get a sarong from there it will cost you IDR. 10000/- which is approx. Rs. 50/- (INR). And it smells very bad. You have to wear sarong as it has a temple while getting down to infinity pool. Road to the waterfall is good but google maps gets you the wrong direction as the connectivity over there is very low. We didn't get totally to the pool as the way became very risky after a while. We almost hiked 90% of the way.
Darshan Devale — Google review
Place is slightly dangerous, but amazing. Monks take small fee for 'entry sarong' but you can see effort they went through to make place available. There is a lot of steep stairs build along the cliff. Path is challenging but there is a solid metal rail along. Only at the end stones are slippery when entering pools.
Michal Milkowski — Google review
The trip down the stairs is better than the « waterfall » itself which is not very impressive. Be aware that the stairs do not have no risers and you can see the cliff face below your feet at all times which may be scary for some. Do not recommend if it is raining as could be incredibly dangerous. 15k entrance fee includes sarong.

Tembeling Beach and Forest is a secluded gem nestled in the cliffs on Nusa Penida's western coast. Accessible through a dense forest, this hidden spot boasts natural swimming pools and a small waterfall. One of its highlights is the breathtaking sea cave that offers stunning views of the towering cliffs along the coast. The Tembeling natural pool provides a tranquil setting for visitors to take a refreshing dip and unwind.
Such a beautiful place! Not many tourists compared with other spots on the island. Definitely worth the trip. The road to tembeling beach and forest is quite dangerous though. Highly recommend to let the local drivers take you there.
Shelly Lin — Google review
The beach itself is not for swimming, just for viewing the massive waves, with water blow. The flood about 3 months ago has badly affected many things here, from the local vendors' business spot which is washed away, to the natural pool which is destroyed. From the entry area, you have 2 options: keep going on your motorbike, or park it and get a local motorbike taxi. It costs 50K per person, but the rider waits as long as you wanna stay there, even the whole day. I don't recommend you go down there on your own motorbike if you have a ride friend, it's better your friend gets a motorbike taxi. It's a very bumpy ride, quite challenging and risky. And please support the local economy by buying some stuff from the vendor down there. Previously, there are some, but at this posting, there is only one. Toilet is available, but seems not to be maintained.
Franklin Ocha — Google review
We have been today here and I would want to inform everyone to not believe the locals at the entrance saying that is very dangerous and narrow and you have to pay them as a taxi to drop you off downhill and later take you back up for a 150k. The idea is if you are a scooter driver and exercised for a few days you are good to go there is no danger. Just be aware that it may be steep and you need good breaks. Because presented to us as very dangerous we left the scooter up and went down on foot is a 40 minute hike down to the beach from the first/top parking, same for the way back up. Of course if you think that is dangerous you can at any point just leave the scooter on the side and continue on foot. The view is nice, water is cooling, you can buy drinks on the way down. We went in a dry period but the hike was still nice, green and shady. You have to donate 10k down at the lower parking lot. Enjoy!

Well, this cant be described, you have to experience it. A beautiful jungle by the beach. To get there, you have a choice of riding 3km's on a kind of a bit dangerous dirt road or get a taxi so you can start walking down to beach jungle. When you are down the beach, it's just stunning. Also possible to swim in pool.
Marke Hongisto — Google review
The way down to the beach is extremely steep and bumpy. There are locals waiting at the start of the road to warn you and will offer round-trip transportation in exchange for a fee. Last time we went there we paid a 100k per person. There are 2 natural pools at two levels. The first pool is bit deep and hardly everybody go there. The second one at the bottom of the stairs connects with the beach and offer an astounding view, but will be swamped with people

One of the must visit site. But prepare your stamina to climb down and up. The required motorcycle down path is quite challenging too. The scratch on my back is due to sea lion bite kidding the strong incoming wave while lying down on the sand and drag me to the rock. Will delete dupe photos asap.

An amazing gem, the natural pool is well refreshing and a good reward after the journey you'll make to get there. Beach is only to enjoy the view and the wave. Now, the journey ... we, unfortunately went down with our bike , even though we manage to get there. Our lack of knowledge didn't allows us to get back and we started to roll down on the first hill and had to ask for 2 taxi driver to help us. Definitely recommend to get there either with taxi bike or by walk if you are not an expert of this kind of broken and extreme road. An interesting experience and really what a stunning place overall.

The view is spectacular. It is located at one corner of the cliff. The water of ponds is actually from the forest. After you have done playing at the beach. You can wash yourself in the pond. Tips💡 If you come here with your driver. You can either by foot and it will take an hour or you can pay 100k to the local. They will ride you in and out. The journey is about 10mins. The road to get inside is really scary but it was fun at the same time.

Discover a serene natural pool, a perfect spot to relax while enjoying a breathtaking beach and ocean vista. The crystal-clear water adds to the allure. However, reaching the location demands caution due to steep pathways and some road sections in disrepair. If biking isn't your preference, walking remains an option, albeit time-consuming and energy-draining. Alternatively, local ride-hailing services offer a convenient way to get there.

An absolutely stunning spot, with clean natural pools and a very quiet beach. The ride down was indeed quite scary and not for the feint of heart. Make sure your bike has decent brakes as it is quite steep, but we managed with two people on one small scooter. However, once down, it’s a short walk to paradise.

The hidden natural pool and very fresh water. The beach and view very nice. The stones coordinate are very impressive. We are really enjoy our time here. The scooter driver is well known the way to down and up. Bumpy, narrow and adventures. The stairs to go down and up also challenging. On the way back up we stopped by for coffee and chit chat with owner local warung. Always remember to buy something so we can help and keep locals economic survive during this pandemic time. Enjoy the fresh water..

A beach with a natural pool. Very beautiful✨️ You can take a walk to the beach but it takes maybe 30 minutes, but it's gonna be faster if you strong enough to walk. If you don't want to walk there is a transportation called "ojek", they will take you to the beach by motorcycle and it costs maybe 40 thousands rupiah. Overall it's really worth it to hear the sound of waves and viewing the beach. It's calming tho. You need to get here at least once in a lifetime.

A bit of a drive to get there but absolutely worth it. You can go down on a scooter, but the road is difficult and narrow, I recommend you take a motorcycle taxi that will drop you off. A short walk with many steps will take you to the beautiful rock pool. The water is fresh and very clean. There are not many tourists here. The photo opportunities are endless and the location is great. You can swim here both in the fresh water pool and in the sea.

I had a wonderful time at Tembeling Beach on Nusa Penida! The beach is secluded and beautiful, with clear blue water and soft white sand. There are also several natural swimming pools to explore, which are perfect for cooling off on a hot day. The hike down to the beach is a bit steep, but it's worth it for the amazing views. I would definitely recommend Tembeling Beach to anyone looking for a relaxing and scenic day trip on Nusa Penida.

Best place we saw in Nusa Penida. Less tourists. The way down is next level. If you’re not an experienced bike rider or your motorbike doesn’t have a lot of cc’s, then it’s best to take one of the taxi guys down. My husband is experienced but the the way up is no joke. It was quite an adventure! Incredible spot to swim in the pools and enjoy the scenery. The lush green on the way down is incredible.

Beautiful beach and very nice fresh water pool. The ride to the location was a real adventure. At the top there are many people that are trying to sell you a ride down, but if you feel comfortable driving a scooter and take your time, you can easily mange the route yourself.

Amazing place to visit.. the way until there down is rocky and hard to drive a scooter, cars are not allowed to go down.. if you already down make sure you go into the natural pool because it is one lifetime experience🌐☀️🙏
Vuki — Google review
By far the most beautiful little beach and gem hidden below a quite dangerous and stressful road/drive down. It is definitely a must to visit while on the island and be aware of the tide that comes in after a certain time. This was by far the highlight of the island for me, stunning beach and natural pool. The drive down is quite dangerous and I would recommend if you do not have greatly off-road experience on a motorbike or scooter to take the locals offer of driving you up and down. Myself with 5+ years of motorcycle experience found this cliffside, rocky route challenging especially with my friend on the back. Be safe and help the locals, pay for the ride. But not more than 50.000rp for one way ride!

This is a highly secluded place and getting here is difficult. Car cannot reach down there. You need to hike down on a very narrow steep road on a motorbike that goes through dense forest and the ride is quite frightening. There are certain bike rentals on the top that charge you to take you down the sloppy area. I hiked down by myself but if i had known the level of risk earlier i would have hired someone and wouldn't have taken the risk. Once you get down, you have to park the bike and hike down further walking down the steps again through beautiful forest area all the way reaching down to the beach. A must go place in Nusa penida !

Amazing place, worth the trip. I got there at 08.30 and was alone for 1 hour. Saw some monkeys on my way down and then in the beach again. Once it becames crowded they will leave. Parking is free, so if locals come to ask money you can say no. Entrance fee at the bottom of 10k. Locals will say its very dangerous and try to have you pay for the taxi ride down and then up. You can walk the distance but its gonna be around 30 min. The first pool is bigger and deeper but the water doesn't look good so I didn't enter. The second pool, smaller, is amazing. Clear and fresh water just by the ocean. Go early and you'll have it for you for some good time. I left around 10.30 am and there were already 4 or 5 couples there. (On a thursday) The beach is not really suitable to swim. There's thrash in the sand, rocks and stones, and the waves are very strong. The road down is tricky, but if you go slow and be careful its very doable. I did it and I only have 2 weeks of experience on scooters. Just use your brakes and keep your feets out of the bike to support when needed (mainly when it becomes steep). It takes about 10min to get there. I honestly think the way up is worse as if you get traffic its gonna be awkard for 2 scooters side by side in some places. (Some vídeos of the road attached) Overall its very worth for the vibe and scenario and a nice pool to chill for a bit.
Guilherme Passarinho — Google review
Beautiful place. Not very crowded. If you have a scooter you can drive down it's not too difficult, narrow, rocky and steep at parts but manageable if you're not a complete beginner. It would be a 20+minute walk/hike down and even harder back up. (We didn't have to pay anything to enter either) The forest itself is beautiful and there is a pool with lovely fresh water with the view of the ocean, beach, and cliffs. Must visit in Nusa Penida.

If you do day trip here in nusa penida ,please include this into your itinerary. It's far better than broken beach , angel billabong, keliking to spend time with if you are someone who dont like too much crowds . You need to hire motor driver to drive you down .I drove down myself with my wife .it's totally doable if you are very good in handling motorbike and had vast experience in it .the road down to the parking was one of the hardest ride in my life .it's steep ,up and down and very narrow path for motorbike . Once reach the parking need to pay 10k fee per person for entrance and walk downstairs about 10 to 15 min . Any anytime it's less than 20 visitors on site .
Khor CHEE JIAN — Google review
Awesome place, both the pool & beach ! If you don’t feel like going down with your scooter, I would recommend parking at the top and walking down. It’s a pretty nice ~35 min walk in the rainforest, mainly in shade. You can then take a taxi later to go back up ;)

Pura Penataran Ped is a vast Hindu temple compound situated in the east of Toyapakeh, near the beach at Ped. It is renowned for its reputed healing properties and houses a shrine dedicated to Jero Gede Macaling - a demon widely believed to possess black magic powers. Devotees flock here from all over seeking protection from sickness and evil. The sprawling temple complex is an important pilgrimage destination where offerings are made for safe sea voyages from Nusa Penida.

Penida Colada Beach Bar is a laid-back beach spot that offers a wide range of international cuisine and refreshing cocktails while providing stunning ocean views. It's known for its inviting atmosphere and picturesque setting, making it a popular choice among visitors to Nusa Penida Island. Whether you're looking for a casual hangout by the beach or craving some delicious food with a view, this beach bar has got you covered.
Superb! Love the place, scenery, the peoples & their menus. My fave Spicy Margarita & grill octopus. Super fresh! Serve from breakfast to dinner. Better to make reservations for dinner. They have live music! Enjoyed dinner & brunch there!
Maria Prapaska (MPrapaska) — Google review
We visited the bar on a recommendation with the scooter. We didn't have a reservation, but just after 3 p.m. that wasn't a problem and we quickly found a seat. The food is delicious and lovingly prepared. The cocktails or smoothies are also very tasty. Definitely try it out :) A heavy rain front had reached us at the time and therefore we had enough time for it. Even a small power outage didn't harm the atmosphere. The service is good, the toilets are clean. Credit cards are also accepted (if the electricity works ^^) So come there, take a seat and enjoy!

This became our favourite place on the island for food and entertainment. We went every day during our five day trip and found new great meals to try. You couldn’t get past the view, service, delicious food, amazing bands and atmosphere. Two for one cocktails during happy hour was the best. Loved this place! The owners and staff were lovely and gave us great travel recommendations.

We saw the rating of this restaurant was really good so decided to go and give it a try before having diving lesson nearby. We went there around 12 and wasn't lots of people on a public holiday. Luckily we got the couch sofa near the beach area for getting some sunshine. The foods come in a good speed, with amazing quality. We had the chicken satay with red rice, the mango smoothie bowl, and a fish tacos. If I have to say something bad about the food, it's just the tacos got too much mayonnaise, but overall, it's reali good. You can also go for a swim which is just ten secs walk from the restaurant. The toilets are reasonably clean as well, with friendly staffs. Highly recommended.

Amazing place to spend your afternoon and evening. The best beach bar in Nusa Penida. You can walk to the beach from the sitting area. Their service is also great. We ordered two cocktails and got two for free. Their chicken avocado burger was awesome.

The place is very pleasant, with excellent service, food, and drinks, and there may be live music (check times). The atmosphere is a bit more energetic when there's a live show. I found it very suitable for anyone looking for a place to eat, drink, or just have fun because it's frequented by foreigners, and there are people in the same vibe looking to share with others. Overall, my experiences at this place have been very good, and I would definitely come back if I visit the island again.

THE BEST PLACE for food and chill on the whole island! If you’re vegan, look no further! Astounding food, attentive staff, & amazing atmosphere! I came here everyday during my 3 day trip in penida. So I tried almost all the vegan dishes. Definitely must try the chickpea curry & crispy cauliflower with peanut sauce! I really loved their coconut milk latte as well. Whenever something went wrong during the trip, I came here to alleviate my mood & heal my soul 😌

One of many beach bars in Penida, the place is not really spacious but cozy, the toilet was super clean, the staff were really helpful and friendly. There are live music every weekend (unfortunately I can enjoy the live music because the electricity was off). The food was good, I loved the strawberry mint smoothies, so refreshing. The price was reasonable. Overall I love this place, I recommended to put this place in you list when you visit Penida island.

I spent here my lunch break between diving in the morning and sightseeing by motorbike in the afternoon: the vibe is lovely, atmosphere and music are nice, furniture and staff also very accommodating. I found the service a bit slow but I think it was just due to the fact that they were quite busy. Food is ok: I ordered some local dishes (satay and migoreng), probably the western options are even better judging from what I saw on other tables. I passed by the place quite often during my stay in Nusa Penida: evening night it’s always busy, with live music and, I am sure, nice cocktails! Very good spot to feel like a beach club vibe in the island!

Came here during happy hour buy 1 get 1 cocktails. They do serve nice cocktails. Very nice atmosphere and beautiful setting overlooking the ocean during sunset. Foods were also delicious, try the grilled fish and octopus. A must visit spot if you're in Nusa Penida area.

Very lovely vibes, great live music, kind staff. 3 dips apetizer seemed a little bit too simple and small for 80k dish. Fried banana desert was heaven. I was surprised for snickers ice cream pop that in restaurant they serve ice cream on sticks. But I was warned before. We would come again to try some other foods because atmosphere was great here.

Live band on Thursday to Sunday from 7pm to 10pm. The band will sing any English songs as per customer request. Amazing place by the sea and under stars. Food are great!!! OMG must visit! Staff service excellent. Love the vibe and a lot of foreigners. Not like other places so empty and doesn’t looks like holidays! Chicken avocado burger 👍🏻with charcoal bun and sweet potatoes fries!

This restaurant was recommended as one of the best on the island and upon arrival we understood why; hospitable service, rustic decor, and a nice menu. The staff were very pleasant and the ambience was very chill. However, I was not happy with the food. I ordered their fish of the day and half way through my meal I realised the centre was raw… that’s fine, it happens (better to find it raw inside than frozen). The staff were apologetic and replaced it with another fillet but although I appreciated this gesture, the second fillet was tough and overcooked.

We had wonderful experience here with our dinner for Valentine’s Day! The staff was super caring and helpful, they nicely added a candle on our table to keep the atmosphere romantic, and also made sure we had everything to feel comfortable! They also suggested to take pictures of us! There was a live music during the dinner time, the band was very nice and had great selection of songs!

My son and I went here for breakfast on our first day in Nusa Penida. One of the few restaurants on the island that not only serve free filtered water for diners but also encourage you to make use of this service. The food, view and service was fantastic so we decided to head back for dinner with the rest of the family. The atmosphere in the evening is lively with the band. It would have been particularly helpful if the restaurant had standing fans spread across the restaurant to help with the ventilation and heat, especially during dry and still evenings. Our dinner looked delicious. My husband and daughter enjoyed their burger and pasta. My son and my meals weren't quite what we expected. The manger took note of this and made the effort to check on us. He was also kind enough to offer waiving off one of the items from the bill. Whilst we weren't expecting this at all, we were very touched by this kind gesture. A rare hospitality gesture that is extremely hard to find now-a-days. We would love to go back here and would recommend them to others visiting the island.

Absolutely loved this place! We had the three dips starter which was delicious and the chicken avocado burgers were amazing. Also had the blue smoothie and the mint tease cocktails. Everything was very delicious. The ambiance of the place is really nice and we hung out for around three hours and swam. Highly recommend and would come again.

The worst meal we had in Nusa Penida The burger was cold and undercooked, the size of the burger itself was like a meatball Spring rolls oily and smelly Fried seafood noodles oily and not even a sign of seafood AVOID

Product/Service: 4/5 I enjoyed the fried nyat-nyat which appears to be their speciality. The avocado juice/shake is also really good if you like avocados. I could have two of those in one sitting. Location: 5/5 Beachfront location and on the main outer road in Nusa Penida. Price: 4/5 Reasonable prices for good food and atmosphere. Atmosphere: 4/5 Could get hot during the day as can be expected in Bali weather. There were a lot of flies which can be expected in the area, and they could have provided something on the table to keep the flies away from the food but not really a big problem. The restaurant is nice and the beachfront atmosphere is great.

Nice plave to sit down with friends or family, the service is not bad but not great either they need some work at communicating to customers. Food is average i would say, i ordered a grilled and fried fish both is burned to the point that the skin cannot be eaten. The pizza is really thick, not usual for some people, so check if you wabt the pizza to be thick and not crispy.

Apparently one of the best places on the Island according to some maybe because it was somewhat busy and nicely decorated with boat teak tables and furniture. The service was slow and they can't make 1/2 of the drinks on the drink menu which they don't tell you until after the food starting to arrive which was off with timing. The grilled fish was frozen and cooked too dry. The prices were very good but the service sucked and wasn't worth the drive.

Nice atmosphere, high quality, its a bit more for westerner style than i like but a nice pace to enjoy the water, the meal was 530,000 for four people. (This is coming from someone who likes more traditional setup, family run or street food).

Western Food : 5/5 Indonesian Food : 3/5 Asian Food : 4/5 Price : 3/5 (The price are fairly cheap in Nusa Penida, considering the high cost in transporting the ingredients from mainland) Service : 3/5 (They need to improve their English and their attitude towards wild dogs) Vibes : 5/5 (The ornaments are mainly jukung, or a local balinese boat) Parking : 5/5 I will recommend the western and asian food. The indonesian food needs improvement. This place is usually crowded at night. They have live music every friday night.

Cute little cafe. Very authentic! Good food. Yes, it’s very simple, not a fancy cafe. The furniture is cheap, and you don’t have a beautiful view or the kind of atmosphere you get in certain restaurants. But this place has its very own charm. It is family-owned and the food is made with a lot of love by some very kind women! The prices are low compared to most restaurants here. There are many vegan options. I love to come for a vegan banana pancake for 15k and it’s absolutely amazing. In fact, I like it more than in most cafes I tried in Bali. I recommend you try this out! It’s a great low-budget option. Most of all: it’s authentic. Kind people. Support the local community! <3

Last evening,we had pumpkin curry with rice and pesto pasta. And today we had scrambled eggs toast, vegan banana & chocolate pancake and vegan french toast. The portions are very filling and the taste is probably among the best that we have had so far on our 14 day holiday. It is a cute family run outlet. They also sell some locally manufactured products like handmade soaps, coconut oil and dried hibiscus flowers. Special thanks to Komang and the other ladies here for the lovely meals! The place is located in a really great area, and I love the coffee there, especially the latte. You can spend the day on the beach bed and in the sea. People also do snorkeling behind the rocks. There's a swimming pool and a nice view of the sunset. As for the food, I can't say it's as great as it could be. I wish the menu could be slightly improved, perhaps made more casual. It would be nice to have sauce for the fish because it tends to be dry, and maybe they could swap the rice for veggies. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars because there's room for improvement. I recommend visiting while you're in Penida!

What a beautiful spot! Right at the water, cozy chairs, delicious food (combination of western and local food) - such an inviting restaurant. Everything taste fresh, the portions are good and the prices are okay (I guess you're paying also a little bit for the view). The only thing: the Playlist is horrible and the music is definitely too loud. If you're looking for a quiet spot to be on your laptop/get some work done - that's not a place for it. When I ask a waiter to turn the music a bit down they actually did which was really nice.

It quickly became the only place my partner and I trusted for hot, fresh and tasty dishes served by lovely staff who make you feel so welcome. We loved the Secret Burger and the Chicken Burger, as well as the Greek Salad, veggie spring rolls, and the Secret Curry (spicy coconut curry with young jackfruit and tofu) was the best meal I had whilst on Penida. Not to mention that the location is stunning — right on the water and the decor is so cosy, beachy boho vibes. You must visit when in Penida!

Absolutely in love with this place 💕 friendly staff, tasty food and amazing atmosphere. The musician is really talented. No better way to celebrate our anniversary.

Giving 4 star because there were some dishes on the menu which were not available due to some technical issue in the kitchen . Apart from that everything here is 5 star. Mesmerizing views. Humble and friendly staff who always welcomes you with a smile. Beautiful view of the ocean. Nice small pool. There is direct access to the ocean from property.

Seemed to me like the best place in the area. Beautiful decorations, nice vibe to chill, good food. They also serve my favorite Expat coffee and have a bakery corner with croissants

This is a very cute literal beach front cafe. I stayed in the right opposite resort. Hence i have visited this place like 6-7 times over my three days stay. From breakfast to dinner I've literally ordered and had 60-70% of their entire menu. Firstly kudos to their lady staff who are so humble, sweet and kind. They gave the best food and beverage suggestions. This place has a cute plunge pool and a few sunbathing beds. They rent snorkel glass as well if you know to swim you can quickly literally snorkel on the beach in front of the cafe. Now coming to the food, everything I've tasted was mouth watering, delicious and tasty. Couldn't get enough of their food during my stay. It's a must visit cafe if you're in nusa penida.

Amazing beach bar and restaurant that is the best in Penida. This is the chilled, high-class version of the other clubs on this end of the island. The tables on the water are the best and provides the best ambiance and experience. Food is freash and varied with authentic flavors. Great selection of cocktails. The chilled live music is best. Friendly and helpful staff.

Came here in a group of 10 because of the good reviews, my friend said he came but it was better last time. Pros: seaview, service of their waitress (Ms.Dewi) Cons: overall food gets 2 out of 5points, renovation need to be improved, washroom condition as well unclean and smelly

Not a bad place. Very average food. Good service but the view is awesome. Don't sit too close to the water or you will get splashed 100%. We stopped here after a long ferry ride from Bali

This was the best restaurant on this island. We got amazing experience with superior food and great service. Live music in the evening, warm breeze and tasty food made our trip to Penida great. Plus they have some of the best coral reef right in front of the restaurant as a bonus.

Most foods that we tried are good. We particularly love the burgers. We ate here 3 to 4 times while staying here in Nusa Penida for 2 nights and 3 days in its villa. The view is amazing and the service is good.

Amazing food, fresh juices and bowls. Even some gluten free options.

Great vegetarian and vegan options. Coffee with coconut milk was delicious and not sweet (which is great as lots of drinks in Bali are overly sweet). Fresh veggies, great presentation. A bit too noisy because of the location. Will be back to try more from the menu!

ordered the vegan curry the first time dining here which was pretty good! friends ordered pizza which looked good and tempted me to order that for a return visit tried my luck to see if they delivered and lived close enough that they did- which i am super grateful for cause of an injury. ordered pizza and the smoothie cup for delivery twice. pizza is great; smoothie cup is a delicious quick fix if you want some fruits and healthy-ish goodness in you. folks there are friendly and nice. definitely recommend!

The most important thing about this restaurant is: it is clean and all ingredients are fresh! You really don't have to worry to get sick here. The staff is friendly and the decorations fit the overall relaxing vibe. Some people wrote that it might be expensive: it cost a little more than usual but the super clean kitchen and fresh ingredients make it worth the extra 10.000! I will definitely come back to eat here! Also: A super clean toilet!

Great range of vegetarian, vegan or western options. Also some indonesian food and very healthy dishes or juices. Nice place, but a little bit loud as it‘s just next to a busy street. Friendly stuff, quick service!

This place has limited but decent vegan options. The vegan sandwich was hearty and wholesome. I was craving a smoothie bowl so I ordered the strawberry smoothie bowl, which really hit the spot! We got the vegan bowl to share, which was tasty but nothing extremely special. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

Have been there twice in a two night stay in Nusa penida! One of the best place for vegans we could find in the island. Tasty meals and lovely staff. Prices are really good too and location is easy to find.

We accidentally stopped here and it was the best idea of the whole day. The owner of this restaurant is from German, so you can definitelly see the difference. They are not using plastic at all (first restaurant what we saw here after 2 weeks). Even when you want to take something away they give it to you in paper bag😍The kitchen looks so clean and the food was delicious. As member of the vegan movement I highly recommend !!!!!!!

Had Avocado - Banana smoothie here. Great taste and right quantity. Best price (IDR 45,000) given the quantity served. Quick and professional service - When requested the staff to make the smoothie without ice, the staff kept me informed that the smoothie would still be a little cold due to the frozen ingredients. That made me feel they are being concisious of the customers and their requests. I highly recommend this place to try. The catch here is the restaurant is not an air conditiones place. So, it might be a little difficult to keep up with the heat during the peak temperatures.

Definitely the best strawberry smoothie bowl on the island. Prices are expensive for Indo though. Spend 130k on a smoothie bowl and iced coffee, still think it was worth it. Great big tasty bowl and awesome coffee

The pizza had a nuce fill, but not awesome dough. The lemon ice tea was pretty good and free to whoever lets a review 😅 The salad was a good quantity but should have the sauce mixed as the side sauce was not enough A little pricey and there is no option to pay with card

Ice lemon tea was very good. Pizza was good!! Plus points for having fresh pinnaple and the vegan bowl was also very good! Maybe I will put the sauce already in it but overall very tasty!!!

We ordered rice dishes as they are offering red rice. Unfortunately it turned out to be white rice. They dint tell us that the red rice wasn’t available. Taste of the food was average. The food is expensive for the quantity of food they offer.

Absolutely phenomenal food! The flavours, freshness, and quality of ingredients are simply impeccable. We just arrived in Nusa Penida and decided to have lunch here, and it was so delicious! We ordered the Vegan Bowl and the Mie Goreng Pineapple - both dishes were fantastic. Expect nothing but the finest food made with top-notch ingredients here. Fantastic service, highly recommended!

I ordered french fries, pizza, mango-pineapple smoothie. Everything was tasty and fresh. The ambiance is also very calm and soothing. The place is very near to the harbor so can be easily reached at. Also, being a vegetarian it was a cherry on the cake to find a lots of vegetarian and vegan options at a reasonable cost.

We were actually really surprised by how good this food was given how far we were from Italy! Pizza and seafood pasta were both delightful, and portions were really big with lots of seafood in the pasta. Watermelon juice was lovely and also had a glass of the Balinese red wine which i definitely recommend.

We ate here already two times, the pesto spagetti, nasi goreng pineapple and the ciabatta were very delicious. The portions were perfect for lunch. Staff is very friendly.
