Miyajidake Shrine is a stunning Shinto shrine that boasts seasonal blooms such as cherry trees and azaleas. One of its main attractions is the Path of Light, which has been featured in a Japanese commercial. This path offers a breathtaking view of the sunset extending from the shrine's approach, especially during winter and spring. Visitors can also enjoy beautiful scenery along the approach during daytime, weather permitting.
This Shrine is awesome, there's so much to see and pray at The area is very large and spacious. There wasn't a crowd, no waiting and no dress code. Admission is Free. Parking is down the street with a 2 minute walk. Worth visiting if you're looking for good luck, love, family, healthy kids...etc. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed.

I just loved this shrine, was so peaceful, the chill of the air was just right so walking around the shrines was at ease. for those who cant walk the steps there is a few cars spaces at the top, some amazing views also down to the ocean

Chose to walk from the JR station to the shrine (good workout in the early morning sun). Visited in the off-peak season... so there was no crowd. Loved the serenity of the area :)

It's as beautiful as I saw in arashi's cm. The path from the shrine to the shore was great enough to not forget about.

We were there on 27 Dec 2022 a few days before new year, so the place was under preparation. But it cannot block the magnificence of this great temple! I love the peachful feeling of the place when we sit under the tree. So good 😌😌😌

Maybe I visited in a rainy day, not many visitors and shops opened. It has this eerie feeling. The “path of light” becomes the “path of rain”. However, the shrine is awesome, it has the the largest Shimenawa rope in Japan apparently.

The road of light! Note that seats are limited including some paid seats, 5,000 yen or $45. Go in advance well to get seats by joining loooong line. Only in February and October, the sunset event happens. Check their website for exact days and more information.
Kishikawa Tarz — Google review
In October and February, the sun lines up just so and the road leading to the shrine becomes golden upon sunset. This makes the shrine even more popular at this time, so it’s not a bad idea to come early if your goal is to catch the golden road. There are many little shrines along the grounds and a relatively easy hike as well. There are many shrine stamps to choose from.

Amazing temple with a tonne of history attached. The gates lead straight to the ocean which is beautiful even when it’s 2° out. Loved it.

Umihachimangu is a vast Shinto shrine complex that features a spacious concrete entrance gate and abundant camphor trees. The shrine is renowned for supporting the growth and development of children during pregnancy. Visitors can explore numerous shops situated within the complex, which has limited parking space of about 20 spots. The serene atmosphere makes it an excellent destination to attend a Shinto ceremony without crowds typical in popular shrines.
Another great shrine. Many things to do here and this one is know for the growth and child development when pregnant. They have trees that are the size of a 4 story building so it was really cool to see. They also had a lot of shops set up. They did have parking but only about 20 spots that fill fast

It is a beautiful sacred place where you can attend a Shinto ceremony. It is great because it is not as crowdy as other knowm shrines. Must see the big tree in the temple garden. It is over 5 meters wide!!

This is a shrine dedicated to the blessing of giving safe birth to the future children. My wife and I have visited numerous times and of course are set to head back with our own children. At the back of the shrine is a collection of rocks (Koyasu-no-ishi). Prior to giving birth, parents will borrow a rock from this collection, which was put there after the birth of their own child. The rock usually has the name, date of birth and a description of what they hoped for their child. The borrower of this stone uses it like a charm in the hope they too have a safe birth. And once that child arrives, the borrower finds a new rock of their own from anywhere, marks their rock with similar details and returns both rocks to the pile for the whole cycle to continue.

A space that truly feels like a sacred area. It exudes a solemn and divine atmosphere. It has probably been carefully protected since ancient times. In particular, the ``Yuta no Mori'', which is said to be 2,000 years old, is a sight to behold. Looking at its appearance, it makes sense that it could be called a forest even though it is just a single tree. It is said that Empress Jingu stopped here after returning from the Sanhan Conquest and gave birth to her child (the 15th Emperor Ojin). Since then, Umi Hachimangu Shrine has been known as Koyasu's shrine, and many people come to pray for safe childbirth. Umi is said to be the name of the place where Empress Jingu gave birth. A must see museum of Kaiten, the suicide torpedo, developed by the Japanese Navy during the WW2. The museum itself is pretty small but you will get to see in tears the photos and letters of those who took on the no return mission and died hoping to defend their families.

I Wept The kaiten were manned submarines that were used towards the end of the Second World War in order to turn Japanese millitary fortune, and the heavens upside down - hence the name: kai-ten turn heaven. One of the young men who died in training was 23 year old Hiroshi Kuroki, who suggested the name “Kaiten”. His ashes were carried by his friend and Kaiten co-inventor, 21 year old Sekio Nishina when he sank USS Mississinewa on 20th November 1944, killing himself and 50 US sailors on board.

It is not possible to take pictures of suicide notes or personally identifiable exhibits on the ship's exhibits. I have visited Chiran and Mansei in Kagoshima, but I have also wanted to visit the Kaiten Memorial Hall for some time. I learned about the existence of Kaiten from various documents. What particularly left an impression on me was the movie The Sea Without Exit. The stories of Major Hiroshi Kuroki and Major Sekio Nishina are also very sad and memorable. There's something in my heart just remembering both. The main exhibits are the historical background of Kaiten's appearance, its operation, and the notes and photographs of the passengers and others. Needless to say, it's really painful and heartbreaking. We quietly put our hands together and prayed for the souls of everyone under the cherry blossoms that were just beginning to bloom. This long-standing zoo has been operating for many years and continues to offer an enriching experience to those who appreciate the beauty and diversity of our planet's fauna.

Nice lil zoo. It was the closest I had ever been to a tiger or a lion. The kids loved it. Staff was friendly. It is not very big. Took our time and spent about 1hr 30min. There is a splash pad to cool down. Was not crowded at all no lines and plenty of parking which is in the back.

One of the best hanami place. However, the animals were rather ordinary. We were expecting more hands-on experience and a bit disappointed not getting to see the polar bear. The hippo's house was so small and hope that the renovation will make great ease to the lonely hippo.

Small zoo with a few very old animal habitats. It looks like they are in the process of modernizing. The plus side is you get very close to the animals. The downside is the tiny habitats are pretty sad. The price is right though: ¥600 for adults and ¥300 for kids.
Stephen Behnken — Google review
It's a nice zoo for kids I would say. The small size of the zoo makes it hard for me as an adult to look at the animals because some of them look like they're going to go mad all cramped up. Fortunately, it appears the zoo is expanding a bit and renovating. There's a place to eat, a place for some interactive fun with animals and a photo machine that's zoo themed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Zoo is walkable from the station but there's also a cheap bus service.

Most depressing zoo I’ve ever been to. Almost all the animals need to see a vet. Birds feathers aren’t growing, bears are missing teeth, there’s a cage where you throw food at monkeys, all the cages are to small and the water is dirty
