Was amazing to see all different types of seafood here. It was a huge market and must see place in Po Hang if you are interested in looking at exotic seafood items. Picked up some crabs and thy steamed for us to take home. There was also areas that you can shop regular grocery items. Honestly everything looked fresh here. It was fantastic experience.

It is one of the traditional markets in South Korea. The crabs are delicious.

I find this place very Korean, full of energy, and quite friendly and genuine. I think it will be a good opportunity to meet Koreans. In my opinion, if you visit Sunday, you will find somewhat energy is low on weekends because many stores are closed. (Additionally, the fish market area can be a bit smelly in foreigners.)
yh JUNG — Google review
It's a very crowded place and that's because it's a very good market for fish, meat and everything else. But you need to know how to bargain otherwise you will not gain anything.

Crab is very famous here. Gwamegi(dried fish) is also famous too.

The market is just awesome……it is sooooooooo huge………the market complex consists of a fruit and vegetable market, home furnishings market, fashion market and sea food market. One can find all types of sea food, alive, frozen, dried……all too fresh. It also has a few pork and other meat shops as well. For vegetarian and vegans also there is a lot to look around, shop and eat…….at regular intervals one find shops selling nick nacks…… Vegetables are fresh and the green vegetables can be bought planted in small pots, which is something I have seen across various big markets in Korea. The place also has ample parking space and they accept cards. The place is also easily accessible by bus. To shop in the market one needs to carry cash, though a few shops accept card also…… The shop owners are all very nice people, as every Korean is…. Overall a very good experience and one of the must visit places in pohang.

Good place to visit, very fresh seafood

Very traditional market. The fish market is super interesting, people keep approaching you "offering" good deals in the restaurants associated. If you buy their fish they will cook it and serve it in the restaurant. Or they will prepare it for take out.
Andreia Carvalho — Google review
Clever idea to have restaurants in the middle of the market to immediately eat fresh seafood if you don't want to otherwise take it home.

I bought some kimchi and fermented jelly fish it was delicious

You should go pass the main parking building area to explore all the alleys. The prices are better outside the parking building area since some walking is required. However, it's totally worth walking around. You will find different sections for different foods, including seaweed, salted fish, dried seafood, etc.
Hyun Kwak — Google review
Open to 10, but at 7 or 8, most stores are closed, leaving the restaurants only. They have the famous Hotteok Jib (House of Korean Pancake) that the president visited years ago. A lot of seafood restaurants sell Pohang signature dishes: the Korean style of sashimi. Nice ambiance overall. Also near the bus stop 👍🏻

Interesting museum about the history of ironworks in Pohang and Korea. Everything is explained in English. Worth a short visit. There is a coffee shop in the area as well.

Interesting to walk around, some interesting exhibits It would be good to combine it with visiting something else if you have gone out there especially. The skywalk is nearby too.

Pohang museum of arts, a.k.a. PoMA, has a wonderful location at Buk-gu, a nothern area of Pohang. Surrounded by Hwanho park, dozens of steel and stone sculptures are exhibited outside musuem. The building itself is also a designed beauty but there are not that many artworks as expected. On thing to note. Most of the visitors are parents with children age below 5 who live nearby but they don't care much of their kids. This is not good. Staffs must regulate this kind of visitors so that other visitors are not distacted by screaming and running children.

Great museum in a lovely park! Cool building with exhibits that change monthly. The park has a lot of statues too and looks especially wonderful during cherry blossom season.

Yeongildae Beach

Mentioned on
One of the best beaches in Korea, live going to the beach. There are plenty of eating options that offer both vegetarian and non vegetarian food. For sea food lovers this place is a paradise. In addition the place offers lot of activities for children and adults both. Beach has ample parking space, space for camping, fishing, light firewood, light firecrackers, is pet friendly, has a walking trail, cycling trail and much more. There are pubs bars that are open till 6 in the morning. In all it is the place where one can spend the entire day chilling.

This is one of my favorite beaches in South Korea, despite the ugly horizon that the steel factories and refineries create on the opposite shore. Granted, at night, the factory lights actually add some camouflage faux charm, but there's no hiding that eyesore in the daylight. That's probably one reason why the beach is not more popular than it is. But still, avert your eyes until sunset and that lower volume of visitors works to your advantage. The attractions are less crowded and it's much more comfortable that way. Don't get me wrong. It's not deserted. At night the place comes alive. There are a plethora of good restaurants and other fun nightlife. People are much friendlier, especially to tourists, than some other places in Korea. I've visited here on numerous occasions before I was married and now my wife agrees that it's her favorite too. So, I recommend that you enjoy it. It's not terribly expensive, in fact quite reasonable including the hotel rates right on the beach. Korea is very travel friendly too. You can get from one side to another in 5 hours or less by car, bus, plane or high-speed train. You'll be happy you did.

Good place to visit for a walk in the evening as well as during the day.
Konrad Wojda — Google review
It’s a beach, a lot of great art work along the boardwalk and there are tons of sea food restaurants serving fresh (as in it was alive 5 minutes before you ordered it) foods. Besides done in, there are also a lot of grab and go. Fireworks are sold and allowed at night and you can get a hotel close by but not on the strip fairly cheaply. The hotels on the boardwalk were fairly expensive and did not look like they were worth the almost 200$ a night. Parking was an issue and they only have a few entry points due to covid to the beach.

Yeongildae Beach, situated along the coast of South Korea, is a seaside haven that seamlessly marries natural beauty with recreational bliss. With its golden sands stretching along the shoreline, it offers a picturesque setting for sun-seekers and water enthusiasts. The gentle waves of the East Sea provide a soothing soundtrack to the beach experience. Yeongildae's charm extends beyond sunbathing; it's a popular spot for water sports and leisurely strolls along the promenade. The beach's vibrant atmosphere, complemented by nearby amenities, makes it a quintessential coastal retreat for locals and visitors alike, capturing the essence of relaxation and coastal serenity.

My favorite beach close to Daegu. Free parking, bathrooms, showers, food & cafes everywhere. Clean during beach season. Kids love it. Bring your tent and stay all day!! Not clear water, seaweed floating but we really enjoy this beach!!

Had a wonderful day at the beach. The weather was perfect, lots to see and do. Great for a walk and easy to get there by bus or car
Heather Day — Google review
One of the best places in Pohang. I stayed in Pohang for almost 3 months and this place was a short 25-30 mins bus ride from my house. I made a point to visit Yeongildae beach almost twice every week. Has a lot of coffee shops, eating joints, bars and hotels (motels too 😋). The most stunning part about the beach is a long side walk. It stretches to almost one kilometre or even more with a lot of blings and lights on one side and a vast ocean on the other. POSCOs steel plant looks immaculate at night (especially with an amazing light show). For people who would like to stay at the beach and choose from numerous sea facing hotels that would cost anywhere from KRW 40000 to 120000. Do try out fresh sea food at restaurants located on the sea side. While walking around, you can get glimpse of fire Crackers that are being sold on the sea side. Small sky shots fill up the skyline with colours. Definitely a site to visit and enjoy with friends.

One of the best place in pohang, but still in the background the heavy metal industry "posco". Clean & green is a funny speak....not really better as for 10years but not good. The beach looks ok, the sea i will not go in, because heavy industry to closed by. View by night good, much restaurants, coffee shops there.

Oeosa Temple

There was some ongoing construction around the temple when we visited so we had to park a good distance away and walk up the road to the temple. It was a nice day for a walk so it wasn't bad. There's a path around the reservoir that we did not take because of time. There's a second part of the temple that is a steep (think stairs) climb. The views were nice from the top and would have been even better if we had gone a couple weeks later when more leaves had changed for the fall. This temple had a tour guide who spoke English very well. He was kind and helpful.

Lovely place to visit. So quite and peaceful. The view of mountain and the crystal clear lake was mesmerizing. The works of the temples was breathtaking. The white statue of Buddha is very beautiful. I loved every bit of it. I love the rocking bridge but at the same time I was scared as I don't know swimming 😂.

A beautiful place to visit but also to receive for believers. We were not able to do the walk in the forest because of the heat but it looks interesting.

The river was all dried up for some reason but I assume it looks really beautiful when the river is full. The temple takes some walking to reach (about 3km) and there are hiking trails everywhere

It is a small temple but you can see the traditional beauty of Korean old buildings. You can just park your car at the parking lot of the temple so that you do not need to walk.

(Translated by Google) I went to enjoy a day at the beach with my family. It was also my first visit to Pohang. There are not many convenience facilities such as shops or restaurants around the beach, but it is a place where you can enjoy it without any problems if you prepare well in advance. I rented it for 50,000 won and used it well all day. Cooking is possible. The parasol table in front of the table costs 25,000 won, but it is good for 2-4 people without much luggage. If you rent a tube, inflating the tube is also available as a service. Life jackets were also lent to the children as a service, which was a good memory. The sandy beach was quite soft and the water was a bit cold. The sea depth was gentle and the waves were strong, so I had fun enjoying the sea with my children. It was a great beach to go to as a family.

(Translated by Google) Not only the sea but also the beach hiking course on the left has great scenery. The parking lot is spacious and there are restrooms on the beach. However, most clogs are caused by washing sand in the bathroom sink.

(Translated by Google) It's very spacious. very. There are good restrooms and the parking lot is quite spacious. The unique thing is that the waves seem to be a bit rougher than other beaches. When I soaked my feet, they were very cold. (Original) 엄청 넓습니다. 엄청. 화장실 잘 되어있고 주차장도 꽤 널널합니다 특이점은 다른 해변에 비해 파도가 좀 거친듯 합니다. 발을 담그면 많이 시리더군요
