Nature & Wildlife Areas
Phillip Island Wildlife Park is a 60-acre wildlife park located on Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. It features free-range kangaroos and wallabies, as well as koalas, wombats and birds. The park is home to more than 100 different species of native Australian animals, many of which can be seen interacting with visitors.
Worth every penny spend. Lots of friendly wallabies, kangaroos, emus, ducks , birds roaming around freely. Kids really enjoyed feeding them. Recommended to take some drinks as we would need to walk through lots of trails in the park. Would suggest to pick any days without rains to have a better experience. Koalas were exceptionally active😀 Staff were friendly and suggested to us various options to make the visit worthwhile. Must visit for kids and family to enjoy close encounters with few of Australian animals and birds.

This is SO worth finding an hour or so to go see and hand feed especially the kangaroos and emus! It's just a delightful place if you enjoy interacting with wildlife. I'm from the US so this was a very rare experience for me. Parking is easy, entrance fee with pellet food is very reasonable. I laughed so much. The emu are big! I was the brave one to put out a handful of feed and they're aggressive but won't hurt you. I loved it! Great separate area for bigger kids. Plenty of other areas for the little ones, too.

While I have mixed feelings about this place, it's still one of my favourite things to do on Phillip Island. Allow a couple of hours to walk around, but if your time is limited then at least visit the paddock where you can feed the emus and red kangaroos. The emus look intimidating from the outside but you should walk in confidently - once you're in there, it should be worth it. There's also a range of other Australian animals around the park, including koalas and Tasmanian devils. The animals seem generally well cared for. That said, it could all be so much better. The whole park needs serious upgrades and remediation. The wetland/lake area in particular looks unnaturally degraded. It's seemed to get worse over the years, and it can't be good for the wellbeing of the grey kangaroos and wallabies that hang out down there. I also find some of the smaller enclosures, especially for birds and reptiles, quite sad. The signage throughout the park is dated and minimal. I'd love to see the park keep the animal interaction that makes it so great, while also being brought up to modern standards, even if it means a price increase and more focus on the close encounters.

Great day out for all ages. Wildlife are super tame and able to be hand fed. Please don't chase the animals, they're all beautiful. The reserve is bigger than expected. I'd recommend enclosed shoes. Entry cost is roughly $20/adult, includes a bag of feed. Additional bags can be purchased for $0.50 each. Family pass available for $50, 2 adults abs up to 3 children.

Fantastic day out at the Phillip island wildlife park. We had so much fun. It isn't expensive like the others, you pay to go in & you get two free bags of pellets to feed the kangaroos plus you can buy extras for 50 cents. Great place for a family day out. The little gift shop has some really good Aussie souvenirs that are very reasonably priced. The people there are lovely too.

Love this place!!!! I was amazed by nature and setting of the wildlife park which is different from other places I have been before. Kangaroos are super cute and friendly. They are clean and fluffy too! You don't need to learn boxing before go to meet them. Beware of the ghoose, they are a bit scary but you can calm them down by simply put a handful food on the ground for them (don't throw food on the ground since it's difficult for them to find and eat). Thank you Phillip island wildlife park's staff who take care of these animals and create this fantastic nature experience. 100% go back and recommend to others 🥰💚

We have been here a few times and each time we thoroughly enjoy our up close experience with the animals. Highly recommended venue to anyone visiting Phillip Island!

Thrilling experience for a visitor . Vast park with lot of scope to walk around and see , go near , touch and even feed wild animals like EMU , Kangaroo. Several species of birds are in closed enclosures worth watching. As expected Koalas were sleeping. Dingo and Tasmanian Devil were in closed enclosures . It’s Kangaroos all the way , very friendly & plenty

This is a good wildlife park. There are kangaroos, emus koalas, Tasmanian devil etc. if you want to feed grey kangaroos you have to walk down hill you will meet them. Ticket is not expensive and including animal food per person that enough to feed them. Kangaroos is not aggressive it is quite kinds. and you also meet wallabies jump around the park.

We have driven past it countless times in my life and I finally decided to pay them a visit. It was a great day my family spent about 3.30 hours there and loved every minute ,it is a little rundown but all the animals are very well looked after. The relaxed atmosphere there gives you All the time you need and feeding so many different animals is a highlight.bags of food for 50 cents is a bargain.

Loved the place. Was nice and beautiful. Seemed well maintained. Loved feeding the kangaroos, wallabies and emus. Overall good experience, would like to visit again.

An experience of a lifetime and one I will never forget. Watching the animals roam freely is such a beautiful and rare thing. Getting up close and personal with the Kangaroos, feeding them from my hand and petting them was the highlight of my trip to Australia so far - and it only costs $21pp entry plus $1 per bag for the Kangaroo food (you can buy as many bags as you like - we bought 6 bags between the 2 of us!). Not to be missed.
Helen — Google review
This place is amazing. It doesn't do the advertising that the Koala park does, but that's a politics-kind-of-thing, not a reflection on their quality. You can feed and pet kangaroos and wallabies (my personal favourite). Many of the wallabies have Joey's, as well, and you get to see them climbing in and out of their mom's pouch. The cost is very reasonable, and extra bags of food are only one dollar - so, you can feed 'till your heart is content. There are also other cool animals that you get to see (but not pet and feed), such as Tazzy Devils and Dingos. For the bird-fans, there are birds - not really my thing. This is a huge park, and you can easily spend all day here, and I would set aside at least a few hours, and that's if you don't linger too long... you can pretty much spend all day with these guys, if you want.

A natural rustic scenery this park offers an extensive range of Australian Wildlife. Easy to get around. The animals are close and some you can feed by hand and pat. You can walk around with Wallaby, Emu, Swans and Cape Barren Geese and lots more. The park has a large wetlands where you can enjoy watching wildlife in their natural habitat. Plenty of parking. A small gift shop. I highly recommend a visit. You will thoroughly enjoy.

This place has a wide range of Australian species, they are all domesticated so they are very friendly and not afraid of humans. One of the best experiences cuz I got the chance to come close to admire, pet, and feed them. The facility in general is clean and well maintained too. Love it ❤️

Excellent place for upfront encounter with animals. Kangaroos, wallabies, swans, wild birds, emus, snakes, reptiles, Eagles, owls, colourful birds, koalas, dingo, wombat, echinda and many more. No food, except for packages items. You get feed as part of your entry fees to feed emus and kangaroos. Children below 4 years don't need entry tickets.

Lovely animals, but RUDE staffs. While my friend enjoyed the acompanies the kangaroos, the animals suddenly started to flee and the birds flew all over the sky for unknown reason. To capture the moment, my friend run to take the videos when the staff stopped him. As much as he apologized and assure not to repeat, he was still asked to leave the park. And the staff used the word “stupid”. Later, we talked to the supervisor, the women at the reception. I don’t think she was open for any constructive discussion. On the contrary, she kept interrupting us and exaggerated our behavior (such as jail). I find her attitude EXTREMELY provoking. My friend’s inappropriate behavior was triggered in a very rare circumstance and not intentional. We normally expected a warning for this, instead of removal for good. Even if the decision cannot be overturn, there could have been better ways of communication, but we didn’t see any from either the staffs. And, we are Asian, not sure if it matters.
Ling0 L — Google review
Such a great place to walk around and see all the native animals. $21 for the entry ticket includes a bag of pellets to feed the kangaroo and emu. Be careful as the emu will try to steal the whole bag of food if they see it, I had to hide it in my pocket and the emu still followed us around for a bit 😂
Luke — Google review
Unfortunately, it was not a great experience at the wildlife park. I was there during high sun, so most animals were burrowed or hiding, but I'm sure some enclosures must have been empty, but no signs to say so. The first impression wasn't so welcoming on the ticket office, and the park has a feel of unkempt. The whole park feels baron, and with animal ID plates faded, hanging sideways or not present, it could do with a reboot. I'd be happy to share more directly with the park, as you can't improve if you're not aware.
Matthew Rose — Google review
I got in early in the morning so the kangaroos and wallabies were hungry and could be easily fed. By around 2pm they had been well fed by the guests and wouldn't eat from your hand anymore
Andrew Sheu — Google review
Thick dense Fog greeted us as we drove towards the island, visibility became low, and felt like being inside a movie scene. So many tourists were there, parking was ok, millions of birds, everywhere, saw penguins 🐧, wallabies, wombats, big birds looking like from dinosaurs world, etc, very exciting 😀

Took my friend from Sydney and her family to Phillip Island Wildlife Park with my family. The place was fantastic. We all had fun and had plenty of interactions with the animals. Our daughters enjoyed chasing after emus and feeding the kangaroos

The Phillip Island Koala Conservation Reserve is a wildlife refuge which offers views of koalas. The reserve is home to many different types of Australian wildlife, including kangaroos, emus, cassowaries and more. Visitors can enjoy walks along boardwalks that traverse the park's native bushland.
My family and I went here today. We saw lots of koalas. They are all very well fed. Many of them were awake which was a great thing to see since they sleep most of the day. Very recommended for family activity and educational purposes! The place was clean and shady.
Winwin Linus — Google review
As the entry fee is reasonable, I don't mind to help conserve Koalas. However most of the Koalas are older. It's hard to see younger ones as they live mostly at the top of the trees. However staff are friendly and I enjoyed the quiet natural beauty as well, though there was only one bench to sit! It was our third visit and first time we heard Koala's bellow! It sounds almost like the sound of a motorbike.
Rita Hasan — Google review
I visited in May and had a wonderful experience! The entry price was reasonable and the reserve well kept. A lot of care and effort went into minimising human interference and maintaining a natural environment. Volunteers were extremely helpful in pointing out the koala which can be hard to spot. The loop takes about 45minutes to walk, but if you are stopping to search for koalas and are busy taking pictures (like me!) then it could easily take 1-1.5hours. Will definitely visit again!
Brian Law — Google review
This was our first stop after a long drive and I actually enjoyed this more than the penguin parade. A nice tranquil walk through the reserve whilst looking out for wallabies, birds and of course koalas. I think we were lucky (or they’re more active closer to dusk) but we counted and saw most of the koalas that were in each area. Several were very close to the boardwalk rather than up in the trees. A few of the wallabies and koalas had babies as well. We drove past a more expensive koala park on the way that looked like it was going for the family theme park with koala vibe so if people have hyperactive kids this may not be for you. Would highly recommend this place and look forward to seeing how they develop with more spaces in the future.
Hayden — Google review
This is a great place to see and learn about koalas. And you can feel at ease knowing that the money you spend here goes to where it is needed. Every morning, rangers go around to find where the koalas are and put up signs around that area so visitors can more easily find them up in the trees. (On sunny days, it’s probably not the easiest to spot them without a bit of help!)
ARBN — Google review
One of the best Koala reserved. Place is so well maintained and you will be able to have close up view with the koalas. Great place to bring along your kids.
Melvin Chang — Google review
This was an unexpected highlight- amazing experience! We got to see 8 koalas in the trees - ranges are on hand to point them out high up in the trees. We were lucky enough to see one koala shimmy down the tree and walk along the walkway wooden railing, giving us a chance to see it up close. So super cute and cuddle (except for those long claws!) This was a so much better experience than seeing them in a cage-enclosure, or purposely placed on a tree stump where you pose next to them for a photo. Highly recommended!
Gustav — Google review
Great experience for me and my family as this was the first sighting of koalas for us. Ticket was $30 per adult which is reasonable and worth. There were 8 koalas and lots of Wallabies and we were fortunate to spot all the koalas. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Chinthaka Godagama — Google review
It was my first time seeing koalas and it was really nice. You can see koalas in their natural habitats. Shady place Each viewing point has a sign with the number of koalas on it. Made us feel like we were playing the game of finding all the koalas. It was really fun, even my parents liked it.
Nattinee Suwannatee — Google review
Great time, guaranteed to see koalas, not guaranteed to see them awake but we were lucky I think as was wet and colder last night so eating this morning. The boardwalks with fresh eucalyptus branches placed close by do encourage the awake ones to be close to visitors instead of high in the trees, so great viewing and photo opportunities.
Andrew F — Google review
Feeling lucky? Then come here to test it out, because one of these cuties literally walked a fashion show in front of us. We were actually every lucky because most of the koalas were awake and quite interactive. Customer service could improve though.

The main visitor centre provides a lot of interesting information in a visually stimulating and interactive manner. The two koala boardwalks provide an opportunity to get close to the koalas and watch them sleep, eat and sleep a little more. The park is set out in a visitor friendly manner, with lots of space to move around and see the koalas from many different angles. Many opportunities to see other wildlife too, including swamp wallabies. We took our time, 3 adults and 4 children, and did everything the park had to offer in 90-120mins.
Michael Patchell — Google review
I really want to thank all the people who contributed to support this conservation center. Hats off for your effort. Really enjoyed the walk in the park. Sighted so many beautiful things in the visit. Friendly staff and beautifully designed sites for koala and other dwellers. Kids will love to see beautiful and majestic Koala.
Anish Napit — Google review
Pretty good. Well maintained and staff available in the boardwalk area, should you need them. You can see several koalas and would be just about guaranteed to see one. They're fairly difficult to see in detail unless you have a good camera or binoculars but you can see them up in the treetops from below. Some interactive things/craft and colouring zone for kids or koala themed play equipment would improve the place. The potting up of seeds was a cool thing to do and there were interesting displays inside. The gift shop had a few soft toys and gift type items. Toilets were available but there was only one unisex toilet and one disabled toilet. They're located out the front on the deck.
Rebecca — Google review
A great place to get a close encounter with koalas without disrupting them too much. The rescued koalas are grouped into two colonies and some freelancers. The two groups are placed inside their own enclosed area with elevated walking platforms for visitors to see them up close. For the free roaming ones, the centre staff places signs on the ground helping visitors to spot them high up: after all, they are koalas so they will be there for most of the day. Some other animals are also present but we only spotted a wallaby. There are also conservation programs on some sea birds. If you are visiting Phillip Island for better known attractions like the penguin parade, consider visiting this as well.

A great little park, with 2 koala boardwalks, easy walking for kids & the elderly. We saw about 10 koalas. Volunteers and guides are there to give more information and answer questions. I also liked their giftshop, reasonably priced items.
Kyzia Morrison — Google review
An amazing experience, the Koalas 🐨 gorgeous. There are signs around the different walks that tell you that there is a koala nearby. They were quite active when we were there, and 2 had babies! The raised board walks allow you to see the Koalas much more easily.
Angela Ton Ton — Google review
Rachel, who we bought our tickets from, was incredibly helpful answering our questions and sharing her thoughts and suggestions. The koalas there were super cute and you get to see them fairly close up in a space that feels natural and healthy for them. It was a really lovely and serene space with beautiful birds to see as well. It took about 1-2 hours to see everything at a relaxed pace which was really nice. Would recommend The information center was also interesting to learn more about koalas and was a nice experience too.

I had a lovely time here, the staff were friendly and the koalas 🐨 were adorable. My friend and I got to see many native animals here and even got to see a koala eating their eucalyptus leaves! Would love to visit again.

Cowes Beach is a popular spot for picnics and fishing, located on the north shore of Phillip Island. It's frequented by tourists from all over the world, making it the island's main accommodation hub.
Sooooo beautiful… clean white sand and aqua waters, north facing and enough space to be away from anyone or around them all. A grass space between beach and many great dining and cafes… love it

Great front beach. Easy for young children. Had a bonus shallow pool for the kids to play in which was great for my 2yr olds. A few rocks to the far left but otherwise a lovely calm beach. Heaps of shops and restaurants in the main street of Cowes too.

Hey everyone! Cowes Beach at Phillip Island is pretty awesome for a beach day. The sand is super soft, great for sunbathing or a game of frisbee. The water's clear, and it's close to shops and cafes, so you can grab a quick snack whenever. It's super easy to just chill here with friends or family. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5 is because it can get a bit crowded sometimes and parking is a problem, especially during peak season. But hey, that's just because it's a popular spot! Definitely worth a visit if you're on the island. But much better beaches on the island for privacy and a day out.
Maxim Ross — Google review
Lovely beach during the summer! Water is always nice and cold, well worth it during 35+ degree weather! If you are after a little bit of a quieter area, the left side of the pier has a difference beach entrance with more car parking. Seems a little less crowded than the opposite side. Water and waves are calm, only thing to look out for is seaweed in the water otherwise its really nice!
Frankie — Google review
We enjoyed two days at the beach, one day with the weekend market! There are many small rocks and weed but still worthy enough to spend time there and swim at the beach. We personally did not attempt at it, but was nice to see people jumping off from the nearby Cowes Jetty pier. Toilets very close to where we were sitting. But the toilets did not even have dedicated cubicles for changing or even hooks to hang your clothes. Good to see life savers actively involved in their job.

The Penguin Parade at Phillip Island Nature Park is an amazing display of nature in action that visitors can watch from the sea to their burrows. Witness one of Australias largest penguin colonies at this amazing wildlife park.
So amazing to watch the penguins just waddle past. Get the plus package if you're short sighted like me as I think it's well worth it. The Rangers are great and informative and actually enforce the rules. No cameras, keep quiet as not to scare the penguins etc. Bring a beanie and a coat as even in autumn it was quite cold. Get there about 5pm and goes until about 7pm

Amazing experience! You will see penguins exiting the water in the evening and going to feed their kids. Beware: it is forbidden to take photos of them. Also, it is usually dark, so the seeing is not the best. As well, the guards are rather strict, and you should sit quiet all the time. Might be hard for very young children.

Amazing experience. The little penguins are stunning and these guys make it possible to watch them at arms length. It’s amazing. Super well communicated, great facility, cafe and shop. Short toilet waits even in peak period. Taxidermy display was super compelling and mostly not too weird.

It’s definitely a must visit at Philips Island! The little penguins are so cute and adorable. The guides Pip and Lysa are friendly, knowledgeable and make our tour so memorable. Able to see the penguins popping their heads up from the water, and walking back to their respective homes. The wind makes it so cool, so wearing few layers of clothing and jacket highly recommended to keep you warm. Photo taking is prohibited starting evening to protect the penguin, however there are still a lot of visitors taking photo using mobile phone which is not so good. Maybe the park needs to think of a way to discourage this. We need to play our part to protect the nature. High recommended for this penguin parade! Really time well spent here. 👍🏻

First of all you need to be patient to see the penguins. They arrive after the sunsets. Too cold out there. Make sure u take your jacket, blankets and bunny. The penguins are too adorable. Friendly staffs there. The best part is beautiful atmosphere and amazing view. Specially on the way back the bush looks out of the world with the lights. Apart from penguins u can also see the kangaroos. They are also cute enough to make your day. If you are visiting Phillip Island, u don't miss this exciting event.

The Penguin Parade is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia. The parade takes place every evening at sunset and involves hundreds of little penguins waddling up the beach to their burrows in the sand dunes. The penguins are absolutely adorable, and watching them come in from the ocean in small groups and make their way up the beach is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. It's amazing to see how they navigate the waves and the rocks and make their way home. The Penguin Parade is well-organized, with a large viewing area and a boardwalk that provides a great view of the penguins as they come up the beach. There are also plenty of knowledgeable guides on hand to answer any questions you might have about the penguins and their habitat. Overall, I highly recommend the Penguin Parade of Phillip Island to anyone visiting the area. It's a unique and memorable experience that you won't want to miss!

Nice refurbishments to the centre and great place to visit with family from overseas. My only qualm is that they have one person asking people to sit down in their seats while dozens of people stand in front of your children. It’s a great place to tick off the list for visiting tourists but it’s difficult to visit with children when viewing the penguins on the boardwalk. Adults literally pushing our children out the way while some crawled under our legs to take photos with the flash on.
Drew Bacca — Google review
Very good experience. Fairy penguins flock back to the beach and nest from the sea, extremely cute. But due to the crowd, numerous street lights, and the partition of the boardwalk, they should still be affected by some factors. Because someone forgot to turn off the flash when taking photos, it is prohibited to take photos after sunset, even if you confirm that the flash has been turned off. The siren of the working vehicle are constantly flashing, I don't know if this will affect the eyes of the little penguin. Many staff members on site have been reminding those who take photos and videos to stop. Is there a better policy for taking photos? For example, selling or renting cameras without flash? Because many people do like to take photos as a souvenir.
Lu Liu — Google review
The nightly Penguin Parade is an incredibly special natural event. If you love wildlife and conservation, this is the place for you. The staff is extraordinary and the views are stunning. Take as many photos and videos as you'd like all the way up to sunset. If you're reading this, I hope you have as much fun here as I have! See you all next time :)

Visiting the penguins was an unforgettable experience. It was a little foggy when we were there but incredible to see the little penguins coming up from the oceans and listening and if your lucky getting a chance to reunite with their family. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of the penguins as it is prohibited but doesn’t stop some from shining lights blinding penguins with camera flashes. The staff did a great job at trying to prevent and get people to put them away.

You must book and reserve your tickets during school holiday. For general viewing, do not expect to see thousands of penguins walking up the beach. But regardless, it was a great experience to see and learn about the nature and the animals. The main building is amazingly beautiful. Lots of information, space for kids to play/learn.

The penguins are so cute. They come slowly in batches. The surrounding areas are wildlife nature reserves. You can see many different animals in their habitat such as wallabies, porcupines, geese and all sorts of birds.

Amazing experience. Rangers are extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to answer our questions. Better to go early to catch the best seats. There are 3 types of seats available, book accordingly. Carry a good jacket with a hood and a nice blanket to sit on as it's quite chilly even in spring. If you are lucky, you can catch glimpses of sea lions and other wild life. They provide you with an estimated time of arrival of penguins. Strictly no photos are allowed after sunset as camera flashes can harm penguins' eyes which are sensitive to blue light.

This was a dream come true for most of us. While the drive from Melbourne was far and long, the Penguin plus was amazing. Yes the line up wasn't smooth, but we held our breath for the amazing experience on the other side. Definitely need to sort out ticket scanning!!! E.g have a Penguin plus line

This place is amazing. I never knew that these penguins were the smallest penguins. I saw several times the penguins in TV and some aquatic animal centers like Aqua world in the UK. They are all very, very big. These are almost like small cat. It was told that these penguins go to sea for their food in the morning and come back to their homes (burrows) in this Philip Island. It was amazing how they recognized this place after their hunting for food and going exactly to their homes and serving the food to their kids. Nature is beyond humans' imagination. They are really cute. It was very dark when they arrived, and we were not able to capture them well due to the restrictions over mobile cameras to show to my family members. Of course, we should not interfere with their life. The place is really nice, very windy and super chilling. Besure to have a full winter wear like caps, ear shields, good shoes etc. Drive safe in the dark.

Highly recommended! I booked normal seat ticket ( I didn’t know there is a premium seat), but that was enough because we can see penguins very close when we were on the way to go back to the entrance. No need to buy premium seat tickets. Also, I didn’t take any pictures of penguins because by right they don’t allow us to do so after sunset. However, some tourists were taking picture with flash. I saw so many times and frustrated at them. I think their operation doesn’t work enough to prohibit taking picture of penguins. It could be better. Anyway, that was really fun experience to see small penguins so close.

This was my first penguin encounter, I had seen a penguin very far away in a cruise ship at Milford sound (NZ), it was just a glimpse.... Also I wanted to see similar penguin parade in omaru (NZ) but the place was at least 3 hours from Christ church and Dunedin, so I couldn't go there at night, also that place was relatively cooler and windy than Melbourne. This penguin parade was the best encounter I had, in the beginning it was too cold, we had to wait till sunset, in general stands, a huge space was reserved near the best visibility spot, but still it was enough room for everyone to sit. In my opinion the second stand is the best place to go and sit to have a nice view. As we reached 5 hours earlier still the special or the VIP view stand was booked out... So I suggest to book the tickets well in advance. As the sun sets, in yellow light neat the stands, penguins start coming in groups of 3, 4 or 5 also they wait for other penguins of their group to come before going to their nests. The nests are in dark with dim lights on the pathway off the penguins. But out of the range of light there were many penguins arriving at the beach they took different pathways to reach their nests, When these penguins are going on the pathway we can have a closed view and can hear the small babies waiting for their parents to come. While sitting on the deck one penguin came really close to me, I also saw two penguins fighting for nest....

It was a memorable experience. Need to wait until it's dark for the penguins to emerge from the ocean. It was adorable seeing them scurrying up to their burrows in groups. We were constantly reminded NOT to use phones cameras or any device from when we were instructed and especially when the penguins appeared. This was for the penguins well being. If you were found using your phone etc you'd be asked to leave. We were at the general viewing and it was fine. Grateful the rain held off. Access to viewing point is wheelchair accessible and seating is plentiful. Some sat on the sand also. Ensure you wear warm clothing as it does get cold!

As of me, it was the first visit. Very creative and informative displays and decoration. I really felt good after seeing the effort done for keeping the habitat of the penguins safe. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing is that you need to have patience to see the penguins. Have some warm jackets or blankets to keep you safe from cold. I would suggest to people who want to visit here, go for the very first row and sit left hand side of the sitting place for better view. I couldn't see from the sitting place due to the crowd standing even though the people were advised to sit. However, I had good sightings when I was returning back from the path walk. I suggest the sitting arrangement must be improved so that everyone can enjoy the penguins coming back from the ocean. Will recommend everyone to visit, especially if you kids.

Penguins swim up onto beach to return to nests after feeding at sea . What's not to love about tiny penguins waddling. No photos or videos are allowed after dark, unfortunately, due to people not following no flash rules . You can see penguins in burrows and take photos before dark . Other animals to see , wallabies, geese . Education centre. Unfortunately, the worst hot chips we have ever had , from the bistro ! Book well in advance, different $ for different experiences.

We booked the Ultimate Adventure Tour and are we glad we did! They took us down to a beach that our group had down to ourselves. We all had night vision goggles as the Little Penguins scurried up the beach within feet from us. We also got a chance to walk through the Little Penguin colony back to the main building. Be sure to book early as the Ultimate Adventure Tour may fill up months early! Of our 18 days in Australia, this made the top 3 on our list of anything we did!

🐧🌊 What an incredible time I had watching the adorable little penguins gracefully swimming in the waves! 😍 Their cautious journey from the water to the bushes was both amusing and delightful. 😄 The struggle they faced was so entertaining! 🤩 The venue offers two types of viewing decks, one with regular tickets and another with premium options available through prior bookings. 🎟️👌 Ample parking is available nearby, and there are convenient amenities like restaurants, cafes, and washrooms on-site. 🚗🍽️☕ Highly recommend making a visit! 🌟

Nice place, there are good amenities like restaurant, coffee shop, store, however it’s very cold so better to wear a proper jacket, walk down between 10-15 min and same to go back when they have finished to arrive at their houses. You can see just 40% of all penguins in the public area parade but we tried to count them and we just saw nearly 50 penguins in almost half hour. You’re not allowed to take photos even without flash (I took some of them without flash before to know that). They should say the specifications to don’t have high expectations about it.

It was definitely a unique experience to watch penguin come on shore and waddle their way back to their nest. We got the general viewing tickets and only able to see the penguins from far. However, once we got over to the boardwalk, we were able to see them up close. As the viewing area is located by the beach, it is highly advised to bring jackets or wear thicker clothing to keep yourselves warm, especially for the elders and children. Also try not to stand up to see when the penguins are up on shore because you’ll be blocking the view of visitors behind you. And also please follow instructions from the staff, no cameras allowed. I saw visitors flashing lights at the penguins…

We visited the penguin parade because our daughter loves penguins, and we hadn't been before. My daughter said it was 'awesome'! You do see some of the groups of little penguins coming out of the ocean. It can be a little hard to spot because it's dark. In saying that, when you walk back along the board walks, there are lots of little penguins to see! It is a worthwhile experience to see at least once in your life!
Heidi Gabrys-Dahaj — Google review
Once in a lifetime experience seeing the smallest penguins of the world. Just a suggestion to reach before time with extra layer of warm clothes as it gets cold in the evening and we have to sit in front of beach for a long duration. Don't take any thing to eat there as sea gulls tend to snatch all of it.

This Rhyll Inlet national reserve is a great place to take in the natural beauty of the area. There are walking paths, a boardwalk, and views of wetlands and mangroves. You can also see some birds, such as parrots and crows, and marine life. The reserve is quiet and relaxing, making it a good spot for walks or rides with family or friends.
Amazing place for a walk! Tracks are done well with couple lookouts and you can run into random wild life animals, rare but safe.
Reshy Singh — Google review
Gorgeous, but the lookout point at the inlet is actually blocked off and closed, and there weren’t any signages at the car parks to indicate that so it felt a bit like a wasted walk 😢

A walk that keeps on walking. It is part of a long easy walk. Take your time to enjoy the different vegetations and landscapes. We met many friendly older couples on the walk, so definitely suitable for family, young and old.

A fantastic place to bring the family friends or just yourself, great for walks, rides or just to take in the scenery 😀 Quiet relaxing with a few cyclists using the walk/track, you can choose to do a short 2km walk or a 10km walk, boardwalks with plenty of seating along the tracks, lookouts & a toilet situated in one of the car parks along the way. You will see wallabies, echidnas, koalas & wombats along your walk, we were fortunate to see all 4 as we were walking later in the day as the animals tend to come out towards dusk time's, during the warmer months their is a slight smell that comes from the marshes you walk alongside, but not to strong! Beautiful walk either early morning or late afternoon 👌

Rhyll Inlet itself is closed. The walk there is fairly underwhelming and is one-way so walk as far as you want then backtrack. Very isolated and doesn't look like a popular attraction as there isn't designated car parking (just a bunch of grass to park). We walked all the way to the 'inlet' from Mcilwraith Road and took about 1 hour return.

Great! Very nice restaurant. On the night we went was a casual vibe with the setting and locals in a mixture of shirts and board shorts, and some all dressed up. classy experience with nice napkins and very experienced staff. Meals were a step above standard pub fare, and if you're at a Brewery you have to try a beer flight! Would definitely recommend

First time here, waited for 50 minute for a sour serving of 13 chips plus over cooked dry chicken parma. Part of steak can't be bitten in to. Only decent part is the seafood pasta but still a slightly small serving for an adult male. Don't recommend if you're in rush for the penguin parade.

We had delicious meals, somewhere between fine dining and pub which is perfect as you get excellent food, prepared to perfection and don't leave hungry. Prices were on point too. As a beer lover, I have to say great beers, the IPA is good and the Koala Pale is excellent. Staff were attentive and helpful.

I booked and we got there a little early. Not a problem. Ordered drinks straight away, they were promptly served. Our waiter was lovely and he took our order. I had the watermelon and feta salad, it was to die for. Partner had the grilled chicken and he said it was cooked to perfection and the taste was delicious. Beautiful ambience and saw the local produce for purchase. Love that. We will definitely be back. Had a great experience at the Rusty Water Brewery. 😊

The food here is great, especially the beef pie. There’s a great selection of beers (of course), including a sampling tray of four different beers. It’s dog friendly if you eat out on the balcony, which is our preference. The staff are really friendly. Have eaten here a few times, and will be back again in the future.

Great food, dog friendly and lovely staff! Had the barramundi and spaghetti marinara and thoroughly enjoyed both. Only complaint was that we ordered as soon as the kitchen opened at 12 when it was quiet but we still had to wait 40 minutes.

We came on a rainy day whole waiting to go to the penguin parade. Staff were nice. They let us charge our phones. It is a little expensive but all dishes cost between 28$ and 30$ so at least you choose a dish according to your liking and not the price. The Parma and seafood pasta where really good. So in fact a good value for price.

Stumbled across this place on our way into Cowes after 6pm on a Tuesday. We didn’t realised until after checking in at our motel that most places don’t open Mon/Tues so decided to give the Rusty Water a chance….. oh my goodness, I haven’t eaten such amazing fish in quite some time. The service was fast, the food was beautifully cooked and the my husband was raving about the chicken parmigiana! Definitely recommend a visit!

I rarely give a negative review but this place really deserves it. People like Neil ruins everything. Unfortunately, Neil's ruined all the great effort from his lovely staff, despite of the good food, people goes there to have a great time and Neil, with his bad attitude and service, he simply ruins the reputation of his staff and the brand of the place. He is lucky to have good staff that is not like him that hopefully, for his business, will keep the business afloat for a little bit longer. Stay away if you can, unless it is the last option for dinner.

Great place to eat, it was a relaxed but tastefully styled restaurant with amazing food. We were pleasantly surprised as we'd thought about going there for quite a while but felt it may be a bit of a bar type atmosphere that might focus more on beer than food but we were completely wrong... Would highly recommend this lovely restaurant. Friendly staff too.

It's open year-round, and you can rely on its quality and consistency. There's also outdoor seating, wheelchair accessibility, and a full bar.
Very nice place to drop in and have a bite. Staff was very friendly. It does get busy, but we were lucky we got there when it just opened. Food was amazing and staff are friendly. The spot is wonderful, with a great view of the water without paying a premium. The service is good too, the menu interesting enough just the execution of the food was just OK. The mozzarella was a bit tasteless and the potato wedges just didn't have any flavour.

The carbonara was good. The gnocchi was so pillowy, very good. The spaghetti was al dente, great flavor and the seafood tasted fresh. My friend loved the mango creme brulee dessert. The garlic focaccia was baciallt a cheese pizza but good. The crudo was also very good. Recommend. Cute view of the water. Staff was friendly.

Absolutely beautiful food and atmosphere, a lovely spot to sit with a view of the pier. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Kids loved their meals and gelato after, everyone was happy. Look forward to coming back and trying some other things on the menu, good value for the quality of food. For those saying the pasta is uncooked, it’s exactly as it should be - beautifully Al dente.

Ordered Pork scotch, Isola aussie pizza and Rigatoni carbonara. Amazing service by the attentive staff. Pork scotch was beautifully plated and my daughter stole all my chips 😂. The meat was a tad dry and the pork smell was quite strong for my liking. Pizza was fantastic. Thin and crispy. Pasta was average. Would prefer with more sauce. However the view and the service made up for it.

Service is horrible. The guys that tide up his hair is impolite and rather very rude to some customer. If you wish to run an restaurant as a owner or manager pls suck-up your thumbs and change for the good. Food was average. Risotto: this dish is not what I expect.taste ok but nothing near what I had good risotto. Salad: I seriously don’t what kind of salad this is tasteless. The combination in the salad is odd Octopus: This is the arable dish. Taste was ok Lastly. The pizza man behind the counter is rather to commentating over how other customer enjoy their food. Not worth visit unless no options.

I recently visited Isola Di Capri and was thoroughly impressed with the quality of their pizzas. The flavors were bold and the ingredients were fresh and perfectly cooked. However, I was disappointed to find that the pizzas were not sliced well at all and I had difficulty eating them with my hands and it became a shredded mess. Why go to the effort to make great pizzas and then not cut them.

Very nice place to eat with a a nice ocean view, very friendly and careful staff, the food is scrumptious to details. The food is served quickly and nicely. It is close to fine dinning style. The pizza is amazing, the parmigiana and sea food lasagna were exceptionally tasty, the only disadvantage ( the portions were small, more like an entre, than like a main). Definitely recommend! Grazzie!
Natalia Puscasu — Google review
Food was good. Tried the risotto ($35) and kids Bolognese ($13), both nice and good portions. Some may find the mains are priced a bit on the high side, but considering they're one of the very few restaurants next to the water that were really open for Tue lunch (went to another restaurant advertised open yet they were closed), I was happy to help! There's a ramp for prams, however it's easily blocked by other customers due to the way the tables are placed, so I ended up dragging the pram up the couple steps instead, then you'll have to leave your pram at the waiting area to dine. Friendly staff. Excellent location as you'll get nice water views and bright pictures especially if you dined outside. Can't help but want to take a walk along the water after for more wonderful pictures! As of March 2023

I want to preface by saying I spoke to the owner as I paid and tried to explain where they could improve, but got nowhere. Was served with attitude and disdain, while being told that they have been running for 52 years and all the people who dine with them love the place and they ONLY have positive feedback. We went for dinner with the kids on a Sunday night. Didn’t expect the place to be as busy as it was, the issues started as soon as we arrived. The line for a table was out the door. Sign says please wait to be seated. There was no one hosting and we had booked and were running 10mins late. I walked in looking for someone to help with my booking as I asked people in line if they had booked. They said no. I approached the owner and two wait staff who looked the other way when I spoke to them. First mistake. Finally someone came past me (the son I’m guessing) and he said I’ll help you in a minute I’m busy, and walked away. Second mistake. We were seated at a table where they had a group of people just sitting and waiting - for what I wonder? Kicked them off but why allow random people to just sit on another’s table? We ordered food - the waitress we had was lovely and helpful. The only positive of the night. Ordered rib eye at $56 prawns at $48 and pasta and salad. Rib eye came with no sides at all, over salted and looked like it had been stewed. Awful. Prawns stunk and were not fresh. Sauce they served it with was horrible. Minimal broccoli. Pasta carbonara was one of the worst we’ve ever had. Apart from my partner’s steak almost all the food was sent back. We were asked if all ok and said no. There’s better on the island. For $180+ not worth your time or money unless you like horrible food cooked badly.

Visited not too long ago, firstly the restaurant is lovely with attentive and friendly service. Amazing views and the decor is really nice. I was extremely disappointed in the marinara, given the price I would expect a fresh mix of seafood and not a packet mix - terrible. If I was at a cheaper establishment I would accept this with a cheaper price, however not the case here. The sauce was delicious, I loved that but the seafood made me feel that this was another tourist trap which I didn't like.

Walked in with friends and kids, as it seems like a good place with a view.Table was set with a glass with a lipstick stain. Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant with panoramic views of the rugged coastline and Bass Strait, as well as beautiful tableware. Promotes regional Victorian producers with an emphasis on Gippsland wherever possible. Offers breakfast items such as ricotta and buttermilk hotcakes with poached pear, orange curd and vanilla mascarpone, or heirloom beetroot potato rosti with goats cheese and puffed wild rice.
Breathtaking views over the ocean & superb food. Book in advance to avoid missing out. The decor has been kept simple and neutral which allows the ocean views to be the focal point as you enter the bright, spacious and airy room. Service was friendly. Great menu with so many amazing dishes, it was hard to choose! All dishes were beautifully presented, and tasted amazing with a perfect balance of flavour. Grilled prawns were so fresh and succulent, and the baby squid (calamari) tender. The lamb shoulder and the beef fillet were both cooked perfectly and were delicious. The Eton Mess was sensational with the orange curd, but the White Chocolate & passion fruit mousse looked and tasted sublime! Such a beautiful setting and delicious food - highly recommend.

Happy to remove this review, and replace with a glowing 5 star review across the board once the community gets some advice. Pretty unprofessional to just drop out without any timeline to your customers.

We had lunch here to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was a 2 or 3 course set menu but you can choose the entre, main and dessert. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. I also liked the setting, view and atmosphere. It wasn't too posh that it felt suffocating but it was really nice and relaxed.

Top 5 best dining experiences I have ever had in Victoria. This is a place that you must visit. From the food, to the view, to the service. It was truly a faultless experience. Bookings are a must. Mains unfortunately not pictured due to being too excited.

First time here last weekend with my partner. We got the 3 course menu for lunch. Everything was SO delicious!! Good sized portions, attentive wait staff and an incredible view! I’ve already told family and friends they need to check out this place when they come to Phillip Island We will definitely be back again

Amazing experience. Really top quality food and service. You pay a little more than somewhere in town but what do you expect? The views are excellent and well worth a few extra dollars!

Yum a must go in the area Spectacular views and great setting lines a restaurant that is tasty, crowd pleasing. The service was a real standout today, we came at the end of thei lunchtime sitting at 3 and staff were super welcoming attentive and accommodating to two little ones. The food didn't seem too local or refined to what I thought the menu portrayed, either way was too quality and probably the best feed your find on the island. Book ahead and get an outdoor seat of the weather allows.

What a find! Having driven past this location for many years including its predecessor Shearwater Cafe, tucked away off the main highway, on the south side of the island, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast (9:30 sitting) for a party of 13. Staff were lovely, bacon and eggs excellent and the standout was the ricotta hot cake. Incredible views, nice shaded outdoor seating area and all round top experience. Can’t wait to return and looking forward to the new hot springs development under construction, which they say is opening by early 2022

Gorgeous views, I mean, absolutely beautiful. There's an outside seating area and you can walk down right to the cliffs edge. Unfortunately you can't actually get down to that secluded beach, but looking at the cliffside; if you were to get down there's very little chance that you can get back up. However, because of the space, it's also quite loud when there are more than a few tables. The food is good, although the portions are quite small. I got the big breakfast (I mean it's called something more fancy than that, but that's basically what it is), but a few others in the group got one of the more fancy sounding items which really left them wanting. The drinks were good enough, although a few ended up getting more than one coffee to cover their caffeine needs. Would go again but mainly for the view.

Takeout Restaurant
Pino's Trattoria is an Italian restaurant located in Cowes on Phillip Island. The restaurant has a casual vibe and features memorabilia from the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The menu includes dishes such as steaks, pizzas, and classic Roman dishes such as saltimbocca. There is also room for tiramisu or a scoop of gelato from the cart.
One of the best pasta I have eaten. Had lunch there when visiting Phillips Island. Even though the restaurant was almost fully occupied we did not have to wait long to be served with food. Pizza was equally delicious. Will eat here again if visit again.

Excellent Italian food with excellent quality, taste and friendly service. Having arrived on Phillip Island during the winter it is quiet in town but this place is always attracting decent amount of customers. Because it serves amazing food, and I have been very satisfied with the serving size too. The pasta were incredible with just the right amount of bite to them and the pizzas were excellent and freshly made. They didn't overload it with toppings and the base is slightly bready which made it a little hard to cut so just go to town with your hands. I was so happy with the meal that I came back again in the same week. Truly recommended 👌

Arriving late in winter not much was open and we thought we were stuck. The place was nicely lit up and open, friendly staff to invite you in and the food was amazing. Was so very happy with everything and loved our dinner. Will definitely be back.

If you want to try one of the best options in the town to eat Italian food this is your place. The staff, the place and the facilities are incredible. I expend a really good time with my family here.

Had a wonderful dinner before penguin parade. We arrived early before 6, before the crowds came in. The calamari was tender and just lightly-coated, and the pizza was savoury and tasty thought just a bit tad salty on the ham and cheese. Service was fast and allowed us to catch the penguin parade on time.

Typical summer pizzeria, well air-conditioned, bright inside, excellent background music. The tables and bathrooms were clean and fragrant. Very interesting is the idea of contextualizing the restaurant, with the international motorcycle circuit, where it is possible to admire the suits and helmets with the dedications of the great champions on them. As for the pizza, unfortunately, I must note that it is not up to the standard, in fact the dough was not very leavened and also the capricciosa with that ham sticks was neither good nor beautiful to look at, I suggest you review the recipe of your capricciosa.

Amazing pizza. We will happily drive the hour and a half to Phillip Island just to get pizza here on a weekend. The staff are all so friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is lovely. The pizza and pasta are to die for, and their cocktails are expertly crafted. You can't book on weekends anymore, so get in early to avoid disappointment. This place can get extremely busy, especially during the school holidays. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Phillip Island, but also worth the trip out just to have lunch!

Best food I’ve eaten in the longest time. Would genuinely travel again just to eat at this restaurant. Phenomenal. Had the ossobuco and my partner had the scotch fillet, both were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The meat on the ossobuco was falling off the bone and vegetables were cooked perfectly.

Foods are delicious but small portions when compared with prices. Staff are friendly and service minded.

Had an amazing dinner starting with their croquettes that are a die for. The creaminess paired with the nicely fried exterior makes this dish really valued for its slightly higher price point. We also had the chicken parm and a mushroom pizza that we absolutely loved. Our 1.5yo daughter also thoroughly enjoyed little bits of the pizza and the chicken.

Nice and popular Italian restaurant in Cowes with great food and good service. My family of three ordered the salmon croquettes, seafood risotto and lasagne and we enjoyed the food very much. The risotto was flavourful, creamy and the seafood was fresh.

Great food, the garlic cheese pizza was just to die for, as was the carbonara. The others were delicious too, and super fast service.

Amazing Italian restaurant. The interior decoration is gorgeous, and the service was also excellent. We ordered the spaghetti carbonara, which was a little small portion-wise, but tasted delicious. Creamy and cheesy, and the spaghetti was cooked to perfection. The lasagna was pretty good, but it was a little burnt on the sides, which was a little disappointing. We also ordered a pizza to share (half tropical and half meat lovers), and it was amazing. For drinks, we had a white hot chocolate, a vanilla milkshake, and a glass of coke, all really tasty and well-prepared drinks. And for dessert, we had the nutella and ricotta cannoli, which had a crisp shell with a creamy and not-too-sweet filling. Definitely worth a visit when you go to Phillip Island!

Cannot state anymore on how much I enjoyed the pizzas here. I also tried the calamari (5 stars for that). The service staff are very friendly and professional, always with a smile. There was a line waiting to get a table (January 6:30pm) so be prepared. Having said that, the line moved quickly. Parking is plentiful at the back, but you might get lucky finding some on the main road.

We always come here for pizzas whenever we visit Philip Island. We love the pizzas here especially the Fungi pizza. So far the taste have been consistent but the pizza’s size seems to be smaller than before. Basic customer service from servers who don’t seem very interested.

Surprised to find an authentic Italian place on holiday Island. Pizza, Arancini & desserts we had were delicious. Biscotti is simple yet one of the best ever, do try. Just wished rosemary fries taste more herbs, would have save stomach space to try other food. On the day we went not too busy but was hard to get waitress attention even to order food.

Tasty Italian food. A large nice venue with friendly service. A good selection of all the usual Italian dishes available.

Great pizza and pasta surrounded by motorcycling memorabilia. Aside from the leathers hanging around the main room, be sure to check out the glass cabinets on the left full of Rossi memorabilia too.

I reccomend this place for dinner!! Service was 10/10, staff were really lovely and atmosphere was nice as well We ordered arrabiata and it was pretty good! with a generous serving of ham together. Tiramisu and berry pana cotta was delicious, really creamy. But after a while, it became too rich to enjoy, but to be fair they are both largely cream based desserts.
