Dainkund Peak is a scenic tourist attraction with a temple located at the top, offering magnificent views. The uphill trek of around 1.5 km features some inclines and steps along with straight natural paths. Visitors can experience cold breezes, especially during winter when the fields are covered in snow. During summers, it offers lush greenery with residual snow. The location's picturesque scenery makes it an excellent spot for capturing nature photography.
Amazing experience. Little step climb but good path has been made to reach the top. U will get ice patches on the way. It will be too breezy , so carry proper cold clothing.
Ajay Nadar — Google review
This peak had the best views throughout the trekking. It's a short 2 kms around trek, which is a little steep for 1km and then it gets better. But you will enjoy the lush green views (if you are visiting after monsoon, we visited in September) all the way to the top.
Sheetal Agarwal — Google review
Best trek one must do while visiting Khajjiar/kalatop or else can plan a day to dainkud if visiting to the region. It’s a 3 Km trek and nature gives you beautiful way to heaven.
Aditya Pandey — Google review
Trekking with beautiful scenic views and breezy air makes the trek more beautiful and lovely. It's little bit more for beginners but can surely give a try. The journey and destination both are worth it. Roads and steps are made so it's easy.
Nikita Haria — Google review
Beginner level trekking of approximately 1.5 km with some steps, straight natural path in between with some slopes. Cold breeze will be touching your skins and with high velocity. At the end of the trek there is a temple "Pohlani Mataji" and behind that you can see Mount Kailash peak (As written on the Temple Wall) and other mountain ranges. In winter you will find snow covered field and during Summers you can enjoy greenery with some residual snow. Location is very picturesque and can take some great pictures of nature here.

Worth visiting for having beautiful view of Devdar forest valley, snow covered peaks, nice treki g and Darshan of Goddess in local temple. First half km steep climb then 1 km walking on flat stretch with beautiful view

Wonderful location and it's mist weather. Of you are mountain person then best way to visit Dainkund peak is through the Hill treak and not through concrete pathway.
Suman Das — Google review
It's a must-visit place. At the beginning, you might not be thrilled, but once you reach the top, you'll definitely enjoy this trek. The route to this location offers a very scenic road. We also experienced snow on the track and along the road. We enjoyed the trek overall.

Excellent place; a must visit to trek for those who are not used to trekking. The stone and paved path uphill is full of breathtaking views. You will get amazing view of valley and pine covered mountains. I went in monsoon. The beauty of rain, and clouds dancing on the mountains, and the myst all around, was amazing.
Subhanjan Sengupta — Google review
You will beautiful view to click pictures while trekking. You can spend 3-4 good hours here. I visited it in mid nov, there was no snow at all. You can go upto peak for great pictures.

At a distance of 17 km from Dalhousie Bus Stand, Dainkund Peak, perched at an altitude of 2755 m, is the highest mountain peak in Dalhousie. This is the most important peak and also a very popular place to visit in Dalhousie. Tourists can enjoy 360° view of the entire valley from this peak. Dainkund is also a famous place for short trekking near Dalhousie. The name Dainkund is said to have been derived from Dain - Kund, which means Lake of the Witches. It is believed that in old days this mountain was the residence of witches. The sound of the breeze passing through the trees makes a musical sound, due to which this peak has also acquired the name, the singing hill. This peak has two major attractions; one is the Indian Air Force base and the other is the Pholani Devi temple, which is a temple of great importance. One of the most interesting facts about this temple is that, except a trident there is nothing inside the temple premises. The peak offers a clear view of the flow of the rivers Ravi, Chenab and Beas which flow at the base. Trekking is the most common path to get to the top and is a beautiful experience, with great views and fresh cool mountain air. Being the highest peak, it gets maximum snowfall during the winter season. The ascent to the Dainkund begins after crossing Lakkar Mandi. About 6 km drive from Lakkar Mandi leads to Indian Air Force Barrier, where the cars are parked. From the end of the motor able road to the temple one has to walk around 3 km of which the first km is very steep. However, this steep stretch of walk is quite safe as the path is made of wide concrete steps.

We recently visited Dainkund peak during our trip to Dalhousie. It's a wonderful place with scenic beauty. We followed the trek from Paloni Mata Mandir to Jot pass. One of the best trek ever. One of the best places near dalhousie. It's a small trek with a climb at the start and beautiful views at the temple at the end. About 1.3 kms long walk to the temple at the end. One could easily spend 4-5 hours enjoying views along the way and the panoramic views from the peak. Way is well marked and paved.

Proper structure of the chapel was built in 1863 before which it was a wooden structure. The idea to build a stone structure for the chapel took place in 1863 when Rev. John H. Pratt arrived at Dalhousie. He inspired the tourist Christian Protestant missionaries to build a permanent church building at this place. The architecture of the church is similar to the Roman Catholic's Church of England; the only difference is that the St. John's Church belongs to the Protestants community.

Situated at Gandhi Chowk ,this church is a reminder of our colonial past. Nice to visit however one has to remove footwear to go inside. The church grounds have really old and majestic pine trees . However plastic and garbage is strewn everywhere and we were surprised to find it unclean as we had visited on Easter Sunday .

St. John's Church, Dalhousie is a historic church located in the hill station of Dalhousie, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is one of the oldest churches in the region and holds significant religious and architectural importance. Constructed in the year 1863, St. John's Church was built during the British colonial period and reflects the colonial architecture of that era. The church is dedicated to St. John, the Baptist, and has been serving as a place of worship for Christians in the area for over a century. The church is known for its beautiful stained glass windows that depict scenes from the Bible. It has a tall bell tower and an impressive facade, with a white exterior and sloping roof. The interiors are adorned with wooden pews, religious artifacts, and a serene atmosphere. St. John's Church is not only a place of worship but also a popular tourist attraction in Dalhousie. Visitors come to admire its architecture, soak in the peaceful ambiance, and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The church is set amidst lush green surroundings, adding to its charm. Apart from its religious significance, St. John's Church also has historical importance. It houses a memorial tablet dedicated to the soldiers of the British Indian Army who served in World War I. The memorial tablet lists the names of the soldiers who lost their lives during the war. If you ever visit Dalhousie, St. John's Church is a place worth exploring. It offers a glimpse into the region's colonial past and provides a serene sanctuary for spiritual contemplation.

This church is one of the famous tourist's attractions in Dalhousie which is just opposite Gandhi chowk. The church was not opened due to heavy snowfall so we managed to get in from the back door. As it was fully occupied by snow it was looking even more beautiful. Definitely, this church is a must-visit place.
Aniket Ankam — Google review
This church is one of the oldest in the region and one can't miss this while visiting Dalhousie town. The Gandhi Chowk location is easily accessible by road. The church building has its own importance because of being an architectural marvel, apart from the religious importance. It is very popular among tourists who usually spend almost an hour or so to enjoy the surroundings as well. We visited this place almost 18 years ago and still it has the charm due to good maintenance and upkeep. Highly recommended.

Located at the altitude of 14800 ft above the sea level Sach Pass is one of the most iconic passes in India. This place is popular amongst people who like to explore the Himalayas. This place is closed most of the time of the year due to heavy snow and there is no way to reach sach pass in winters. It opens usually in April May and closes in late October. Since this place is located in a high altitude area it is advisable to take precautions due to AMS and lack of oxygen. The roads are completely off road no tarmac. So it is definitely one of the most challenging, scary and adventurous destinations. Although conditions were challenging, I personally believe the Kaza Losar Manali route is way more dangerous than this one. When I reached the very top it felt weird in a good way. Although I have been to many higher passes, this pass felt so satisfying and relaxing very similar to Kunzum La (Kunzum Pass)

What a place to visit for adventure lovers... Very much rough and unexplored place... The road to Sach Pass is very much dangerous and kind of off road... But after reaching to the top, you'll love it... But it remains open or accessible for only 3-4months...
Faruque Ibrahim — Google review
One of the deadliest passes of all passes in Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Deadliest why? Because of lack of oxygen and off-roading path all the way. Facts that will discourage you to go there: - 35 KM uphill and 40 km downhill offroad (worst kind of road) -No cellphone network, vehicle mechanical support or stay options on the way. -Weather gets colder and windier as you go up -Some water crossings on the way may be hard to cross and your vehicle may get stuck or lose traction. -Engine will sometime lose torque on uphill climb due to low oxygen. Fact that will encourage you -You can even bring your sedan if you know how to drive and if you know your car well. I did this pass with my swift. Only the underbody cover took hit. - Clean air, beautiful landscape and serene atmosphere -A kind of different experience and achievement -Very quiet and secluded area with only one or two vehicle in sight that too only once in an hour. You can easily have two rounds of physical intercourse in open without anyone seeing you. Please note that only reliable hatchbacks and no nonsense SUVS are preferable. Travelers with sedans and High tech SUVs are to exercise extreme caution.

It's a must do ride in one's lifetime. It's damn adventurous but start your ride as early in the morning as possible and calculate distance to your destination at 10kmph speed. We rode 120 kilometres in 13 hours. So better plan well. Don't ride during nights, it's highly dangerous dude to shooting stones and high altitude causing altitude sickness and you wont get any help in the night. We went in September and climate was pleasant. Ride safe!

You will experience the world's most dangerous Road here. And if you go in April Or june you will deliberately ride/drive on black ice. Which is very dangerous and Adventurers at the same time.

Absolutely heaven like place.. literally 4.5 thousand metres above sea level and the road was extremely dangerous.. I was at one point scared to death because of the roads and high peaks without any safety measures but then we reached on top and it was totally worth it. It was literally snow falling when we reached there and extremely cold like seriously.. I have never seen such place in hardcore summer where snow falls like that.. . .
Sakshi Sood — Google review
A great adventure that we have on this trip was drive to Sach pass and beyond. The roads are in very poor condition but that is the main thing that gives your adrenaline some high and low. The whole road was just rocks and glacier water on it. Nothing else. Both side you can see maximum 15feet of glacier and the views are beautiful like you cannot compare the beauty of this place to anything elsewhere. After reaching the top we felt like it's the top of the world.

Really a bad experience. No one was cooperative. They just gave the food and went and didn't ask for anything else. The food quality, taste was also not that good. We had chole chana which was really oily. Oil was dripping. Then we had Hakka noodles which was like boiled noodles. No taste at all. They do not take card payment or gpay. You have to give cash. I thought this restaurant would be nice. If you will see from outside, you will find it really old nice place. But my experience was not that good. I would never recommend this place.

This cafe is situated at Gandhi chawk. This is cozy place. Heritage looks is main attraction of this cafe. We had ordered coffee which was excellent and chicken pizza. Pizza was okay. This is not actual cafe, rather simple multicuisine restaurant. I came here for bakery items but vain hope.
Siddhartha Das — Google review
I wish I could give negative reviews for this cafe. The pizza was a frozen island with its topping sliping away like snow. If you ask me I won't feed this food to my dogs. 300 bucks for a chicken pizza that gives you serious nausea issues? Really? Mild bournvita milk for hot chocolate for 130 buck? Seems like no one really cares about the warmth and comfort that Dalhousie is all about. In my opinion, the restaurant is best described as a walk by photoshoot station rather than a "cafe". Save your bucks for something more worthwhile and flavorful. Stay safe and dont fall sick by eating this food. Cheers!

Cafe Dalhousie is an old school cafe located in Gandhi nagar, mall road. I came here to grab breakfast and ordered an omelette which was better than expected. I visited with my friends in this Cafe.. The cafe looks good from the outside but we were very disappointed. We had ordered multiple things, listing very disappointing experiences 1. Pav (Bread) was very small in size, it seemed they gave 2 pieces of 1 pav. 2. The hakka noodles were overcooked and very sticky 3. We had asked for soups to be given as 2 by 3, and they charged extra for that when asked why the extra charge, the manager said "Idhar aisa hi hota hai" 4. Had ordered a Veg Cheese Grilled Sandwich, in which we got only cheese and no vegetables The overall taste was ok but we were not satisfied with the experience.

I had a truly awful experience at this restaurant. We ordered the lemon chicken, and it was not only the worst I've ever had, but it was also stinky. The dish was inedible. The chicken was overcooked and dry, the lemon sauce was overly sour, and the smell was repulsive. I couldn't even take more than one bite. It's a shame because I was looking forward to a nice meal, but this was a complete disappointment. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. One star is too generous for this experience. Avoid it at all costs

There are lot of Sher-e- punjab around Dalhousie. This one is at Subhash Chowk. Only this one is with himachali kitchen. We had dinner here, wanted to try Himachali thali. Food was really good and unique. We wanted to try non veg Himachali thali but it was not available. So we tried veg one. Service was prompt. Only problem was tha thali quantity should be more as compared to price.
Komal Sazia — Google review
The concept is good and the owner is polite and energetic, however the food itself leaves so much to be desired. The main highlight here should be the Himachal cuisine and it's highlighted in their Himachali Thali..coming to that the veg options in that Thali are quite fresh and flavour is good however the non veg options need a lot of improvement (specially mutton) Coming to amenities they are bare minimum..the wash basin is awkwardly placed near the entrance and the washroom was under renovation at time of visit.
charn singh — Google review
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. I've tried here a local specialty - veg Thali and I wasn't disappointed. It's great for all the Dal lovers, I liked some of the versions very much and all of them had a unique taste. The price was affordable considering the locality (200 INR). After a meal a wanted a dessert, there is a ice cream stall connected with a restaurant. The ice cream is very tasty, but to my surprise I paid 130 INR for a "big" cup - it was pretty small. So be aware of this higher price for an ice cream. The table with exact pricing is missing here.
Jarda Vašák — Google review
Food was very bad Non veg quality was vvvpoor chicken was uncooked, chicken was bleeding with chicken's blood and veg was also not good. Salt was excess with oil floating all over and chapatis were uncooked. Very bad experience as it is also costly and not met the quality we get at that price. Order came 50-60 min late even we were a single family in the whole restaurant.
RAHUL AHUJA — Google review
This place is called Sher e Punjab now. They don't serve Himachali thali anymore because of less crowd these days. But we still wanted to taste something local so we ordered Madhra which is a local rajma dish made in curd gravy. It was fine and very different from our regular rajma sabji. But it had an irritating amount of badi elaichi in it. I got elaichi seeds in each and every bite. I personally don't like a bite on elaichi or badi elaichi (ofcourse I love their flavor). Apart from that service is good and ambience is good and done in Himachali interiors.

This place is in main market of Mcleodganj which is a narrow street from main gandhi chowk.street is not long though. No parking on main chowk but you can park nearby in other streets or a lil away from main chowk.

It sounds odd for Hill Station but you must try fish and chips here. Maximum foods are fresh not frozen. They all taste quite different from Delhi or other north Indian cities.

Kwality Restaurant is a highly recommended North Indian eatery in Dalhousie, known for its great value and straightforward approach. Situated on Mall Road, this restaurant offers an extensive menu with options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. They also provide takeaways and deliveries for added convenience. The food at Kwality Restaurant is delicious, with perfectly cooked spices that leave a lasting impression on your taste buds.
Food taste is great, restaurant is located on Gandhi chowk so easily approachable, you may also have take away or delivery, if required. Our search for good food in Dalhousie ended here. Restaurant owner and waiters ask you for food taste and if we liked the same.

This is the best family restaurant in Dalhousie. It was clean & spacious with comfortable seating. Owner & staff were very sweet & humble. Service was quick. Quality & quantity of food both were outstanding. Firstly we ordered paneer butter masala and mix veg. tastes amazing. Then, we had Kadhai paneer, and butter roti. Spices were balanced. I just loved the taste. Quantity was quite good for 4 of us. Washroom was clean. They gave us lemon bowls to clean up our fingers. Must visit this place.

Undoubtedly the best restaurant in Dalhousie serving some really comforting and soul satisfying food. They have a really limited menu but the quality and quantity of the food served here is really too good. I would recommend you all to try out their tandoori chicken, butter chicken chicken with some hot hot roti/jeera rice. The service of this place is again quite recommendable. Please make sure you go to this place before 8pm for dinner or else you'll end up waiting in a queue for getting a table.

One of the best restaurant of Dalhousie. Mostly all food items are so delicious 😋. I tried both veg and non - veg items both were amazingly prepared, spices were perfectly cooked. Recommendations for non-vegetarian are chicken tikka masala, chilli chicken and chicken masala, for chinese singapuri noodles, garlic chicken fried rice, spring rolls. All food items are in affordable ranges. Located few metres from gandhi chowk. Staff was so humble and ambience was cool. Must visit restaurant.
