Glastonbury Tor

Mentioned on
Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Located in Somerset, England, Glastonbury Tor is a popular tourist destination with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. The hill is made up of sandstone and is steeply sloped, making it one of the most difficult hikes in the area. Surrounded by ruins from ancient civilisations, Glastonbury Tor is a must-see for anyone visiting Somerset.
Incredible how an edifice remained standing throughout centuries, impervious to weather and the changing of kingdoms. No wonder it appeals to my mystical cord. Left the motorcycle in town and climbed the hill up to the tor - takes roughly 35 to 40’ but it’s worth the effort. The road takes you up and up through quiet fields, the silence broken by sheep bleating and birds chirping. The view from the tor is vast and very green (after all, this is England), and is good to just sit, relax and maybe embark in some meditation. A good day trip, a nice couple of hours spent walking to a somewhat ethereal place (if you like the concept behind it). Visited in the end of April, near Beltane, and could feel the atmosphere in town and near White Spring [reservoir].

Love the Tor! It’s a steep but short walk (25-35 minutes up) , lots of places to rest on the way up, the views are stunning, dogs welcome, there are normally some sheep doing sheep things, so bear that in mind if you take your pooch.
Barry Curtis — Google review
Stunning views of all around. There's a shuttle bus (fees apply) running from the town centre which is hand as you can't park very near. The walk up starts straight forward but soon gets a little tricky at the end. There are two approaches, one winding path (recommended) and a straight up path on the other side. We went on a very windy day and I've never felt wind like it - at the top I felt like I couldn't been scattered over Somerset - but there was good camaraderie between walkers! There isn't anything to do nor particularly see in itself, but the view is spectacular and it is free to visit.
Gary Fenn — Google review
Toriffic views from up there, upon the mound, which is rumoured to have been built by King Arthur's wife Guinevere in 555AD, as an elaborate plan to hide the Holy Grail.
Ed Barney — Google review
Great walk which ends with very impressive views of the surrounding countryside. The tower at the top is picturesque and a wide area around provides ample room for picnicking. Yhere is a dial on top which points out areas, directions and distances to local points of interest showing a relief to help orientate you. The walk is steep and takes about 30 mins for experienced walkers from Glastonbury. The only downside is parking is limited and expensive in the town.
Colin Owen — Google review
The climb is quiet tough but the view you get on the top is amazing
Patrick Bostoen — Google review
Stunning views are well worth the walk. Even in the rain! (I'd advise choosing a clear sunny day!)
Stuart Carter — Google review
Despite being born in Wiltshire and Somerset isn't that far away I have never gone to Glastonbury tor until today. Well worth the climb the views are amazing I'd love to know how the stone was taken up there very impressive
Adrian Lee — Google review
Lovely views and not too far to walk up (though shame there isn’t more free parking around)
matticace — Google review
If you’re interested in an panoramic incredible view and a great workout- you’ve found the right trek! It wasn’t too bad of a walk once you made it to the base of the tor (only took 15 mins to get to the top). But most start out somewhere in the city- so it took about 30-45 mins to get to the base. Once we got to the top- we loved the sunset we caught! The view from the top is worth the trek!!!! Take a bottle of water and a snack and you’re all set!
Luv2 Travel — Google review
The tower is an amazing piece of architecture. The Tor is steep to climb up but is well worth the effort and will reward you with breathtaking far ranging views over the country side. You can see why this is such a mystical and spiritual place. A must visit in Glastonbury.

What a wonderful place. The views are just out of this world amazing. Definitely well worth a visit.

What a beautiful place and a must visit when in Glastonbury. Yes it is a steep walk up but well worth it when you see the outstanding views of Somerset, and even more beautiful at sunset.
Darren Austin — Google review
Nice walk, there are two paths the one further up the road is less steep however you have to walk up the road but the one near the bottom is a bit of a climb. Beautiful views at the top. Nice for an in prompt picnic.
Chantal Maio — Google review
What a magical place, the view on top was pretty amazing!. Must visit when you are in the South West of England. #🇵🇭
Gregy Leaño — Google review
We visited at the end of December A lovely walk, well worth the climb for views. Steps 80% of the way and concrete paths. With strength and a little determination Sturdy pushchairs can make it to the top! (See last pic) Most steps are quite shallow and wide and there is the option of grass most of the time alongside the steps. Parked in the SRLM carpark and coupled it with a trip to the museum and recharged in the cafe afterwards.
Laura Bright — Google review
It seems that some people are expecting a multi story carpark, an escalator and someone to rub their feet when they arrive here. The place is just barely detached from what’s around it, meaning a 10 minuet brisk walk or a 20 minuet slow paced jaunt from the centre of town. It’s got amazing views and the walk to the top is very peaceful and straightforward for almost anyone, potentially even with a wheelchair. There are 0 facilities because it’s a hill with a shell of an abbot on top. The history and mythology is very interesting you have a very calm, yet energetic feeling when at the top. It seems it was once used as a place of execution. Watch out for the 🐉
Caïna Verrin — Google review
I love this place. Great to visit for a walk. Fantastic view from the top. It was super windy, so we didn’t stay up there long. Such a special place to go.
Rachel Wheeler — Google review
Definitely worth a visit if you're nearby. Even though the wind was cold and the rain kept coming in showers, it was a great place to make the effort to get to. Parking in the road near the town was easy and free. The walk up wasn't too bad. Good path and steps. Fantastic views from the top. Interesting building and lots of info en route.
Paul Morris — Google review
The view from the Tor is absolutely amazing! You can literally see for miles. For seasoned walkers the climb is fairly straightforward, but for more casual walkers (like myself) you'll have to put in a bit of effort! There are a few small benches on the way up where you can rest if you need to. If parking in the town centre it's about a 40-minute walk to the top at a moderate pace. On a warm day this would make a great picnic spot, there's plenty of room around the Tor itself and the grounds. Well worth a visit and a great way to get your steps in.
Gary J — Google review
Well worth the visit. Amazing 360 degree views and a calming feeling. Reasonable walk to get to the top. You'll need to be a bit fit or it's ok to stop. Takes about 15 to 20 mins to get to the top. Calm going up and down but very windy on top when we went so hold your hat! Parking was £3. Take an empty water bottle and fill up at the spring!
Olac Coombs — Google review
Lovely walk up and down to the Tor on a lovely day. A very chilled out place for a couple of hours for a picnic. Great views for photos and a very special place.

Glastonbury Abbey

Mentioned on
Abbey
Sights & Landmarks
The remnants of a prosperous monastery, Glastonbury Abbey, possess connections to the legendary King Arthur and Guinevere. The ruins that are visible today include portions of the nave walls, St Mary's chapel remains and crossing arches. During medieval times, this was one of the most influential ecclesiastical seats in England, with vast landholdings around Somerset.
Absolutely amazing chilled out place on a lovely sunny day. Take a picnic if you want or there is a small coffee / snack shop in the grounds. I think entrance fee was about £11 for adults. They had a civil war re-enactment display in the grounds and was well worth the entrance fee. Also, allegedly the burial place of King Arthur!
Matt — Google review
Whilst the majority of the abbey is now in ruins, what remains is stunning. The majority of the site is accessible to all and the museum is very informative. We visited early on a Sunday morning and it did pick up from half 11 onwards so getting there early is recommended to get the whole site to yourself.
Donovan Hand — Google review
Full on history and many ruins and interesting building intacted too. More to see than I thought, like the Monks Kitchen best example in Europe and sweet Chapel and its wall art, as well as King Arthur story. Recommend the free guided tour. Lovely Gardens , ponds to picnic and meditation snd immerse ones self 🙏❤️
Jamie McLatchy — Google review
Fascinating location. The largest abbey ever built still remains impressive today even in ruins. Walk through the ruins and imagine how majestic the sites must have been in their hay days. A must see!
Roberto Buzzi — Google review
Definitely a must when in Glastonbury. I came here not expecting too much but the sheer size of the ruins coupled with the guided tours and museum make this worth the visit. There are a few ponds and fields which make this a lovely place to walk around. Will definitely come back if I am ever in the area again.

Had an absolute blast at this years Glastonbury Medieval Fayre. Was well worth the visit. From sword fighting tutoring to archers trying to bring down the enemy it was wonderful. The highlight being the jousting with a touch of humour from the stunt team. What a day!
Clair Spires — Google review
A wonderful place, made even more special by the great stories, myths, and legends our lovely guide, Goodwife Molly, shared during our guided visit tour (included in the admission ticket). A stunning, spiritual, space, with ruins that speak of great times and still hide many secrets. The museum is also very informative and the old kitchen is quite impressive. There is a special energy on the grounds. A must, if you are in Glastonbury.
Silvana Avram — Google review
Amazing ruins of the old abbey. Gives a sense of the results of Henry VIII suppression of the monasteries. The kitchen is wonderful. Very nice to walk around and see the different pieces left.
Brian Saylor — Google review
Unbelievable site with spectacular history. Glastonbury punches so above its weight in terms of accessible, dramatic history and beauty. The perfect place to both see the sites and learn the stories, but also to just relax on the beautiful lawns and near the fish ponds.
Mark Wiens Vancouver Real Estate — Google review
Beautiful place, with the beautiful ruins and garden and with a good explanation of what it was before. There’s a place for children to draw and play a little, small bookstore where you can donate books and buy them for a small price. Large garden of ruins where you can enter with the dogs, they are welcome.
Luciana C?rtes — Google review
What a wonderful place to visit. Such a lovely place with beautiful views and gardens. When we visited there was a reenactment happening and it was really really brilliant our son even took part. Everyone was so friendly and helpful a brilliant experience on our holiday.

An excellent inner town park. The size of the Abbey is a reminder of Glastonbury's ancient importance. Looking forward to the new piazza is 2024.

Beautiful ruins and massive gardens also the reconstruction of how the abbey kitchens would have looked
angus smith — Google review
Beautiful ruins with a great little museum prior. Staff are helpful and it's worth waiting for a guided tour to take you around (no extra charge) you are free to roam about the abbey as long as it's open once your tickets are sorted. I recommend buying in advance as they are slightly cheaper online than on the gate. Students: bring your student card with you.
Thomas Rixon — Google review
I wasn't expecting that! Stunning setting for these extensive remains of the Abbey. Despite being busy the sense of tranquillity and serenity was everywhere. Absolutely beautiful!! And the shop/museum was packed with many delights - don't miss it!
Mandy Harrington — Google review
Glastonbury is a really cool town with lots to see of its own accord. But the Abbey is a key stop. Pillaged by Henry VIII, the remains have a very eerie and spiritual vibe about them. There were many people doing yoga, picnicking, and meditating on the grounds. We were lucky to have a beautiful day to walk around the ruins. For me, the supposed burial site of King Arthur was a real thrill. I have loved the legend and would love to think that this was a final resting place. Be forewarned, parking is very hard to come by.

An amazing heritage for the town.. it's beautiful to see the locals gathering and keep the holy spirit of the Avalon

Very intriguing site. Loved seeing and reading about the ancient artifacts and buildings. Museum is great. Before our visit of Glastonbury, my wife and I did read the Mary Stewart trilogy of King Arthur and Merlin. You can almost put yourself in the Era. Magical. A must see. Also walked around town, got something to eat and bought souvenirs.

Very pleasant afternoon spent in Glastonbury abbey. Car park available at the back of the abbey grounds. Allowing a stroll through the town centre. The ground are easy to access. Wheelchair access available. Cafe and souvenir also present.

I can't say much as I decided not to go in. But I could see pictures outside and also from the information ℹ️ center I could see part of the ruins. Seem a beautiful place if you are up to pay £12 to go in. I am sure you will have amazing pictures inside.

Nature & Wildlife Tours
The 219 square mile Exmoor National Park is Devon's largest and most diverse national park. It offers unique scenery, including dramatic moorland, woodlands and rolling agricultural land. The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, badgers, foxes and wildcats. There are many well-marked trails for walkers and mountain bikers as well as some great spots to spot whales or dolphins off the coast.
I am very fortunate to live on the edge of this beautiful national park. A ten minute drive and I am up on the top of this wonderful moor. Highly recommend a visit to this very special place taking in the moor and the coast. Lots of historical places to visit and the scenery is spectacular 💖

Easy walk path around, climbing up to the top isn’t too hard as well. The view is great. Plus the parking is free. There could be smell of the mountain goats, but not much.

This is not a park where there’s an entry as such more of a massive area of land . Call Elmore national park. There are few good places to visit near by and enjoy sight seeing including the town. Photos I attached are all about 5miles away from the actual point on google maps

Today, we visited Simonsbath. We parked at the ashcombe car park. There you find a beautiful garden, or actually a garden which was not finished. The owner started it about two hundred years ago, but ran out of money to finish it. Bring your own chair or a rug to sit on it and enjoy the area! After a while we walked to the ruine of a farmer’s cottage at wheal Eliza. What an easy walk with beautiful views on the exmoor country. It reminded us to our trips to Austria, but this area is much easier to enter! Just go yourself and you’ll experience it yourself.

Fabulous place, walks here are challenging, mainly as they go along high cliffs. Wouldn’t recommend for children but great for ramblers!

Amazing park, scenic A39 circular drive, lots to do with beaches, walking trails, Rocky Mountain, castle etc.. makes up for a nice holiday destination. Needs about minimum of 3 nights stay to cover the key spots. Lovely part of the Somerset county.

It's just a stunning place to be, whether walking (with or without a dog) with friends, family, or on your own. Cycling, 🚲 or having a picnic, or just enjoying the wildlife that you come across. Exmoor is a beautiful place to be.

The valley of the rocks is an unusual landscape. There is a cricket pitch in the valley bottom sitting in a natural amphitheatre, stunning location. Be a great venue for cricket or other entertainment IF you could get 10,000 or so fans into the place. Fabulous walk along the cliffs to Lynmouth. The path down at the end is steep and even steeper going up. The venicular railway is an easier option!!!

Stunning part of the country. Plenty to do, an things too see. Great views and wildlife everywhere. Just amazing.
Oli Stringer — Google review
Honestly the most beautiful place!! My 12 year old son can not walk for longer than 15 mins before needing his wheelchair. The fact that we were able to drive around and stop to see so many amazing sights was out of this world. A family trip we will treasure 💖
Samantha Jones — Google review
Exmoor is a beautiful, rugged and peaceful National Park in south west England. Walks can be easy strolls or challenging hikes climbing and descending several hundred feet, several times in a few miles. Within the park are a number of small villages. The notable towns are Minehead, at the eastern edge of the park, Porlock about halfway across the northern side and Lynton & Lynmouth towards the western side. Some of the smaller villages are very picturesque. Driving can be a little challenging in some of the tiny country roads, go slow and watch out for animals (and have good maps or a satnav). On the open moor you'll see the famous Exmoor Ponies - don't approach them, they can be very unpredictable. You'll also see sheep, highland cattle, deer, various birds of prey and numerous small mammals. In the streams and rivers you'll see trout and other fish and may even catch a glimpse of dolphins in the Bristol Channel. Food wise there are some excellent pubs selling superb food sourced locally - along with some great local beers. It's a time to wean yourself off the Carling and Guiness and try an Exmoor Ale, Otter Valley IPA, or whatever they have on tap. There are numerous quaint tea rooms selling the ubiquitous cream teas and you'll find many restaurants and cafes in the towns. To answer questions - there's no entry ticket, no fence around it (lots of fences within it, but it's farmed land), there are swing parks in some of the villages and towns. There is no direct rail link to Exmoor, the closest place is Taunton and get a cab to Bishop's Lydeard where you can get the West Somerset Railway to Minehead. I don't know of any car hire firms in Minehead, but there are some in Taunton. Disabled access? Well anyone can get here, but some areas and premises would be challenging or impossible for disabled persons - some of the buildings are centuries old. Things to do? Hiking is very popular here - the South West Coast Path starts (or ends) in Minehead. You can buy any number of books with excellent routes or circular walks from car parks, etc. Mountain biking is popular, plenty of fishing (coarse or sea), rock climbing and so on - most outdoor pursuits are catered for. Accommodation ranges from static caravans to yurts and shepherd's huts, to manor houses to AirBnB. Plenty of campsites and places to park a campervan. Dogs - welcome almost everywhere, but keep them on a lead where livestock are. Even the most well behaved dog can lose control confronted with sheep and lambs. Be very, very cautious of cows with calves, they can be extremely protective - ideally find another route. All in all it's a beautiful place to visit. But always be prepared for the great British weather and have appropriate waterproofs. If you're planning a walk, a reasonably good pair of boots will be a godsend.

Lovely scenery, and trails that follow a river with waterfalls. Nice picnic area and a refreshment shop. Trails lead to Lynmouth down by the coast and a unique cliff railway that leads to Lynton
Timothy Muskett — Google review
Having hiked the moor 40 years ago and revisiting again this week, I cannot speak more highly of the dramatic location. The wild and untamed heights, the steep valleys, fords, sheep, ponies. Rain, clouds and moody sunshine inspire poetry.
Jeffery Wells — Google review
The park has an exceptional atmosphere. I walked along the path by the river to reach Lynmouth. As you walk you have the opportunity to turn off the road to peek into the villages closer to the park. I had a cheese scone in the Watersmeet house and it was amazing. One of the places to be!

The Roman Baths are a complex of baths, a temple and a museum in the city of Bath, England. The baths were built around 75 BC by the Romans and remain one of the most famous tourist attractions in the city. The hot springs that fed the baths still flow today and are said to have healing properties. There is also a restaurant called Pump Room on site.
What an amazing experience we had in this astonishing place! It is magnificent!! I was totally impressed for the beauty of this complex and the truth is that I did not feel like leaving. You may visit this amazing monument for only £17.50 including the self-guided dispositive in many languages to understand each area. At the end of the tour, you can also drink the springs hot water, and believe me, it is really worth it! I highly recommend you to book your time online.

A historical wonder and testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Romans, the Roman Baths are an absolute must for anyone interested in history, architecture or simply looking for a unique and immersive experience. On my recent visit, I was mesmerized by the grandeur and timeless beauty of this remarkable structure. When I entered the Roman Baths, I was immediately struck by their imposing presence. The massive stone columns and intricate carvings showcased the mastery of Roman craftsmanship and transported me to a bygone era. The attention to detail in every aspect of the architecture was truly astounding. From the imposing entrance hall to the intricate mosaic floors, it was clear that no expense had been spared in creating a truly opulent swimming pool. Exploring the different parts of the Roman Baths was like stepping into a living history book. The highlight, the Great Baths, with its colossal pool of warm, mineral-rich water, was a sight not to be seen. The idea of Romans enjoying a quiet bath, engaging in discussions and social gatherings made me appreciate the importance of this common space in their culture.

The self guided tour was nice to follow along so be sure to purchase that option. Although you could figure things out by reading the placards, the info given in the audio is a much richer experience. But it is amazing to see the old bath ruins and the artifacts uncovered. The educational component is palatable for students and nonstudents. There were a lot of people so be sure to give yourself a few hours to leisurely move through the tour.

Went with my 10yr old daughter. Such a wealth of information and all delivered in a way that's accessible to all ages! Love the different audio options for adults and kids. Absolutely stunning displays and such a wonderful experience to imagine what the Romans would have seen when this was at its height! Tasting the water direct from the spring was great and it's not a flavour you would expect!

I had an amazing time exploring the Roman Baths in Bath city. This historic site is a true gem. The well-preserved ruins, stunning architecture, and informative exhibits took me back in time. Great experience! It was a long tour but worth it! We really enjoyed learning about the history of the bath house. You get a hand held device to help guide you through. There are places to sit occasionally because it is a long tour. There is a gift shop at the end and lots of places to shop. A great tour through history! Thank you, Roman Baths!

Amazing. At first, we were a bit put back at the cost of entry. However, the venue is well worth it. There are so many things to see. A labyrinth to explore. Hand-held device tour, so free to explore at your own pace. Areas had films of Roman citizens who brought each area to life. For example, Roman Gym. There were real life "Roman citizens" that you could talk to. I asked about the pipes "of the day" and was shocked at the answer. Colourful, historical, interesting, informative, well planned.....well worth a visit. Oh...and weekdays are cheaper than weekends.

AMAZING historical place to visit! I will say that the tickets are not cheap, £28 for one adult on a weekend, but I definitely found that it was worth it. we spent hours here looking at everything and learning about Roman history, and especially liked the different choices of voices for the audio guide (i recommend following along with character options even if you're not a child, it's just more fun haha).
Lirio Hardy — Google review
The history is great and it's a lovely set of ruins. The audio guides are very useful and available in many languages. Unfortunately it's horrendously over crowded in some parts, to the degree that I would not feel safe if there was an emergency. My review would be higher if not for this. We were there for maybe an hour and a half and found it fascinating. It's easy to get to in the centre of Bath which itself is a lovely city for a visit. Entrance price was over £20 per person so factor this in when you weigh up if it's worth it.
Chris Stretton — Google review
Firstly this is an amazing piece of history which was great to see. It’s got the Roman baths to see and a small museum of artifacts and things found. There’s part of a Roman road there which is so well preserved and remarkably lower then our street level today. All the things here were just incredible and I loved being around history of 2000 years in age. It was just too busy to enjoy it as much as you would had it been quieter. I think that the numbers need to be limited because you can’t see things because of people in the way or you’ve got to wait ages to get a turn. It’s also ridiculously priced at £25 a person! Whilst I appreciate the importance of this place, the price doesn’t need to be that high. Would i recommend this place, well if you like history yes but be prepared for masses of people and an empty wallet. I’d give the artifacts inside five stars but the two stars are for the rip off prices.

A good historical place with lots to see, learn, understand and explore. The audio commentary provided by the ear set was awesome. It's a bit pricy, but" yes" to maintain the standards of the museum it's required. I have personally fallen in love with the city of Bath. Such a magnificent architectural marvel. A very well planned and designed city. One should spend at least 2 whole days exploring the city. Its so nice to see the buildings preserved in its original state. The eateries are just awesome. If anyone is visiting UK as a tourist then I would definitely recommend they should spend some quality at Bath.

One of the best places to ancient bath and hot water procedure from old ages and they have their way to do the spa which is currently counted in one of the most relaxing things. Apart from that the bath town is very famous for circus building and the half moon shaped building called crescent. It was great day to visit the great spa of England.

This heritage represents the old history of Bath and connection with Roman Empire. There was not only a pool but also a lot of information about the building and related history. The pathway was excellently designed. We found everything exciting. The staff were friendly and supportive. We enjoyed there very much.

Buy tickets online and then use your email on the entry. You have a book a time slot. Use the free audio guide which is brilliant, on every part of the walk around you enter a number and someone tells you all about the subject. Highly recommended to anyone visiting bath

Great place to visit and it was a lot bigger than I expected. Audio guides were free to walk round with, and you could choose to listen to the adult or kids version of the tour! There's also info on the walls so you don't have to use the audio guides all the time. I only used them part of the time. It's interesting to walk around. It's a bit pricy at £18 each but it's a lot better than summer prices!

My second visit to the Baths and I would absolutely come back again and again. Reasonably priced and so much history, the free audio tour is excellent, and you can listen to as much or as little as you want. Not particularly crowded when we went at Half 10 on a Sunday and we spent about 2 and a half hours there. The water tasted like drinking a mouthful of pennies but with 43 minerals, it's probably quite good for you 👍
Elizabeth Robertson — Google review
Very well laid out and very informative. A lot of work to maintain obviously. A bit warm and smelly underground but to be expected. Very busy even during winter. Good commentary on self- listening tour. I couldn't bring myself to taste the water but would have loved to experience a cleansing massage and a soak in the healing waters if it were at all possible, but I totally understand why you can't.
Liesl Knott — Google review
It's well worth a visit, although the entry tickets are a bit on the expensive side. The Roman Baths is a UNESCO World Heritage site that demonstrates rituals in Roman times, immersing them in the opulent bathing rituals of antiquity. The well-preserved remains, including the Great Bath, is well preserved while interactive exhibits and audio guides provide informative insights into Roman life. The museum showcases an impressive collection of artifacts, from sculptures to ancient coins, in the 3 levels accessible through the tour. It is a must-visit, although crowds can be a bit distracting especially since we visited on the bank holiday weekend.
Sanka Illangakoon — Google review
I spent just under three hours in this beautiful museum. I recommend you take the audio guide as it makes it more interesting and informative. There is a one way traffic system which is preferred and you must wear your masks. The Roman Baths are so beautiful and picture-worthy. You could see and feel the warmth from the water and while you walk through the museum, you will feel like you're taken back in time. I 100% recommend booking a visit. Be prepared to spend money in the amazing souvenir store!

This is in a great location in the centre and east to find. Reasonably priced, we spent about 2 hours here the morning after an overnight stop in Bath before catching the train home. Very interesting history and educational displays throughout in a well planned route through the baths. Definitely worth a visit.

What an amazing place. To think that all this history has been preserved so well. So much to see and there is even a children's activities area whilst you are going around. It is was a little crowded in some parts. Well worth the visit and the audio comentaty is very informative.

Wonderfully restored Roman Bath house. This was left here for more than a few centuries until they restored, to the extent they could, it for today's visitors. The tour through the Bath is well organized and the self-guided feature was good. One really gets a sense of this Bath when Romans were here.

The price to the museum was around £20. You need to book in advance. Come 5 mins earlier than your slot opens. The museum is quite big and worth the money. They have audio guides with 5 or 6 different languages which is quite convenient. I went to the museum on a weekday, it was not really busy. Definitely recommend it as one of the best historical places in Bath.

Loved the experience! This is the oldest historic place I've been so far. Amazing architecture. We got an audio device for the explanation of each part of Romans bath. One should definitely experience this. We get to taste the hot spring water at the end, which is even more amazing. Toilets are available (well maintained). This place does not have a car park, we parked our car 10 mins away close to Jane Austin centre but cheaper options are available at car park spaces.

Had a great experience, visited the museum at twelve o’clock and finished the whole experience around two hours later. At the entrance we were given these phones full of interesting stories about each section the museum which made the whole experience better. Towards the end you get to have a cup of the bath spring water which tastes funny but has ten times the minerals of any water bottle sold in supermarkets.

Unbelievable piece of history in the centre of Bath. It took me 3 hours to get around and I could have taken longer. An audio tour is included in the price, this tells one everything you need to know, also included are extras about the archeology & some observations by Bill Bryson. Best fact of the day, the baths may be 2000 years old but the water fell as rain 10,000 years ago!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to do this as it was £21.50 entrance, but I am so glad I did! It’s super informative, there’s self controlled audio guides for every attraction, and overall beautiful! They’ve built sections up around the ruins, and you can taste the water at the end too. It was so much more than I was expecting, 3 floors down of things to see! There’s an attached restaurant and gift shop too.
Karla van Rensburg — Google review
Absolutely fantastic experience. We'll worth the money! The audio tour was interesting and informative. The museum exhibit was far more extensive than expected, and of course the baths themselves! Absolutely beautiful, and the idea that you're walking in the footsteps of people thousands of years ago 😀 2 warnings... 1st, Google says to allow 1 1/2 to 2 hours. If you want to make the most of the audio tour and the exhibits I'd allow at least 2 1/2 Hours. ( you really get your money's worth! ) 2nd, as other reviews say..... the water really does taste nasty 🤣

What interesting history. There is so much information in here one could spend hours reading all the details of the artifacts the excavation has found. I found the inscribed lead tablets particularly interesting, both the prayers and the curses. The history of the place is so dense its easy to see how someone could spend a lifetime studying in even a small area like this. Definitely worth a visit. I also really liked the holographic presentations in the rooms that help visualize what life could have been like in the various rooms of the baths.
Nick Combs — Google review
We picked up the free audio guide and could listen to whatever we wanted by punching in the number. I don’t normally care for audio guides, but I did find some spiels engaging enough for my philistine brain. The layout of the museum was thoughtful and kept your interest. Overall, this is a must-do if you’re visiting Bath for the first time, or even if your last visit was some years ago.

The city of Bath is included in the UNESCO list. The Roman Baths (Bath) are a well-preserved bathhouse in Bath, Somerset, England. Unique architectural monument, interactive museum, audio guide is included in the ticket price. There are many archaeological finds from Roman times. What was most striking was the gilded head of Minerva. It’s incredible that the water is warm and you can see how it bubbles from the inside! We were there on Monday and there were a lot of tourists! It was educational! I recommend! 🥰

Really wish that I am a history lover so that I can enjoy this place more. Nevertheless, it's a good experience coming here. One of the must-visit place at least once if you're coming to Bath. They provide an audio guide for the tour. The main attraction was the hot spring and spa. It was literally hot! You'll learn about some informative things and there's a lot to see. Took about 1.5 hours to finish the tour so take that into account if you're gonna visit here. You can buy the ticket in advance through their website. Overall, it was a lovely experience.

Excellent attraction and very informative with a lot to see. There is a lot more to see inside than you would imagine looking from the outside. I booked a ticket for 10 am when it opened on a week day in January, so it was not busy, so it allowed plenty of time and space to look around. I think during the summer tourist season it gets very busy. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely attraction and very interesting 😊
Stuart Johnson — Google review
Must visit attraction for everyone, no matter if you’re a history buff or not. The state of conservation is astonishing, the place is gorgeous and the audio tour really interesting. I recommend visiting near the closing hours, because the natural light gives a different vibe — super immersive. Allocate about 1 hour, hour and a half for your visit. I can’t recommend this place enough

The Theatre Royal, Bath is one of the oldest and currently functioning theatres in ancient Bath. It's a 4-minute walk from the city centre and features stunningly decorated interiors from the Georgian era. The Theatre Royal offers a variety of performances including theatrical and musical events.
Pretty little theatre with very helpful and friendly staff. Clean facilities. Toilets and refreshments available. Parking nearby. We went to see animal farm and found it to be very entertaining. Would revisit and recommend.

Went to Theatre Royal, Bath tonight to see The Ocean at the end of the Lane (Neil Gaimen) - absolute JOY to watch. The sets and cast were AMAZING, breath-takingly beautiful. And the Theatre itself was a stunning venue - thank you

Beautiful theatre with some disabled access. There are pillars in view of some seats so choose with care. There is a disabled lift in main entrance and another lift down to the stalls. There are bars on most levels but at the top level the bar is not always open if this section isn't busy. There are toilets on most levels. There is a Vaults Bar and Restaurant which is beautiful and luxurious. They sell Marshfield ice cream during the interval at £3.50 a tube. There is a booking fee applicable to every ticket sold.

I watched Sleuth. Great performances particularly from Todd Boyce. As a Singaporean, I can’t say I picked up the dry humour very well but it feels good to watch at a luxurious theatre that is nice and with comfortable leather seats.

We were staying over the road in the Z hotel and saw Gryff Rhys Jones playing “An hour and a half late” so chanced ourselves front row of the circle on their last night. What a lovely quaint theatre it is. The show had me laughing from start to finish even though the stuffy guardian critic gave it 2 stars I was still chuckling at the jokes the next day. Definitely worth seeing a show in this jewel of a theatre.

Wow, awesome, funny, fun performance of Fisherman's Friends the musical. First time visiting this theatre & it's a gem. Intimate, beautifully maintained with original feature but with very good disabled access. The staff could not have been more helpful with my mum & her wheelchair. Thank you

Lovely Victorian theater, small but ample enough room for all to fit in. Wonderful state setup, makes it feel very realistic with a good sound system. Excellent bar with drinks at reasonable rates.

One of the most remarkable theaters I've been to in the UK. The theater is small, and has two levels, hence the echoes and resonances were really nice. It is a nice way to spend the night in Bath.

Nice theatre, not too small, with decent facilities. We saw an interactive children's show and it was great, the back of the stalls has decent view of the stage.

My wife had a little nap during the theatre. We were sitting in the front row in the middle. We had come a very long way travelling and she is insomniac. During the interval a lady approached us asking if we were okay as apparently the production team had noticed that my wife was having a sleep and they were requesting that we moved to the back of the theatre so we could be more comfortable. It was very embarrassing. It was quite aggressive and disturbing and it was strange because there were many people around us having a nap as well as you would think during a production as dark and slow as the one we were watching that well. Quite a lot of people go to the theatre and enjoy a little nap while we were being interrogated during the interval and insulted everybody around us listened and the lady was very lucky that I never made a scene and went and saw the manager I have never been so uncomfortable or been met with such ignorance regardless. Anyway, I will never return to this cinema. It is such a beautiful cinema. I think we should all remember that some people have not come out of the Dark ages yet. There seems to be a lot of that around bath

TR Bath is a lovely theatre, not huge but intimate and very traditional. It’s very well organised with amazing staff on hand everywhere. It’s a must on anyone’s visit to the city I’m so lucky to live near by and be a local. The latest show we saw was Drop The Dead Donkey which was simply superb. One of the best TV shows transformed onto stage in a way only the amazing writers Andy Hamilton & Guy Jenkin could do with the best actors who bring their old characters to life in the world today. Absolutely world class.

The show was so much fun but the dusty seats and lampshades deterred me from wanting to return, sadly. So I hope they add cleaning to this year's budget.

A cheerful welcome awaits you from the enthusiastic staff in this beautiful theatre, which is like returning to a childhood memory. Rows of plush maroon seats - where some mysteriously lack a gangway - and the buzz from the audience only add to the sense of anticipation. An enchanting venue.

One of our local theatres. Georgian theatre beautiful architecture. Was an extremely hot evening, so I'm very glad they had air conditioning. Not the best, but not as clammy if there was none! The stewards were lovely, and the queues in the interval were not too long. We saw 2:22 a ghost story, which was very good. I would recommend that too !

The staff were wonderful in ensuring my parents were comfortable ready for a performance. Dad has Parkinson's and mum also has mobility issues. The tickets they'd been bought were for the centre of a row and they found some others on the end of a row. Darren in particular was really attentive.

The Roth Bar & Grill is an English restaurant located in the heart of Durslade Village. The menu focuses on seasonal food with a contemporary art theme and the restaurant works closely with local farmers, gamekeepers and gardeners to use ethical British produce. The atmosphere is informal and convivial, making it a great place to eat with friends.
Very cool place, great food, funky bar and fantastic service staff.

The high expectations due to the hype were met with a pleasant experience. The staff was excellent, and the food, while decent, offered a variety of great choices. Regrettably, couldn't explore the art this time, but looking forward to it next visit. Definitely considering a return.

The atmosphere was captivating and the staff were welcoming. However, the rib of beef we shared fell short of our expectations, especially for a Michelin-starred establishment. It was dry and just average in taste.

We visited this lovely bar and Grill having first looked at their reviews which seemed outrageously insulting. I felt that we had to check it out and I am so glad that we did. The service from both Hugo and Harrison was fabulous. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was buzzing. (including the dam wasps). It is a little expensive but that's the price you pay for quality. The buttermilk dessert was delicious and thank you for swapping the Raspberries for Strawberries (due to an allergy to Raspberries). Will definitely be returning to try their Sunday lunch menu. Thank you both

Selling Picasso’s to publicity shy billionaire art collectors, sounds like such a bit of a cushy number. We can however get a glimpse of the skill sets required in Swiss gallery owners Iwan Wirth and Manuel Hauser’s diversification into the development of a UK based hospitality business. Or to be more accurate, several hospitality businesses. Their recent openings showcase an eclectic mix of wonderful art, honest food, comfortable beds and decent wines. One of them, the Fife Arms, the iconic flagship of the enterprise, encapsulates under its grey tiled roof, everything that is positive about Scottish hospitality, while transforming the provision of informal luxury accommodation into literally an art form. The hospitality experiment started with the acquisition of a farm in the rolling hills and apple orchards (now vineyards) of Somerset, near to the village of Bruton. Farm buildings have been converted into a 6 bed luxury gite (private chef to order), a spacious art gallery, cafe, bar, restaurant, and farm shop. Slightly confusingly, the venture sometimes goes by the name Hauser and Wirth, sometimes Art Farm, Durslade Farm Shop, and Roth Bar and Grill (design of the bar care of the descendants of conceptual artist Dieter Roth). In any event, last year I was fortunate to catch the last day of a magnificent display of works by the late Henry Moore in the farm gallery. If the entirety of the Somerset collection could be conceptualised by Dieter as an Anne Redpath still life, flowers in vases, cups on the farmhouse table, the next development in the portfolio had Frank Auerbach charging into the room, trowel in hand, blending autumnal colour combinations using enough paint to cover the hull of the Royal Yacht Britannia. I visited the Fife Arms in Braemar, a skip and a jump from Balmoral, in 2019 within a year of its opening. Having read the first Fife Arms reviews, as the co-owner of Hotel Les Deux Chèvres, a boutique art hotel in Burgundy, I had a professional excuse to satisfy my art appreciation curiosity. Frank’s bold brush strokes combined dollops of tartan, interspersed with stags heads, a stuffed Queen Victoria, Picasso’s, Freuds, and 1,500 odd other works of interest all under the roof af a magnificently converted 45 bedroom former Victorian coaching inn. For each room there were two staff, estimated conversion costs in excess of £20m, and the same again on the contents (not counting the Picasso and Freud). The integration of a local’s bar serving pies and pints with the 5* luxury ground floor salons, is a design masterpiece in its own right. And so to the latest offering, the re incarnation of a Mayfair pub, into a Mayfair pub, Mount St Restaurant, and rooms for private functions. To be frank, after staying at the Fife Arms, the Audley pub and Mount St restaurant, would need to be an unmitigated disaster, before I would give it a negative review. Of course it is not. The bar is pleasant, the service on a busy evening, good; the choice of beers, excellent. The restsurant, an interesting menu array of modern british, I have not yet sampled. But why The Audley? For profit? Surely not. Had it been renamed the Fife Arms (London), a few stags heads and bucket loads of fine Scottish whiskies and langoustines imported, I would get it. But those are my brand musings, and probably better expressed elsewhere. On the assumption there is a grand plan to the expansion of the Group’s hospitality interests, I await the next installment with interest. And should they consider a French wine village, I have just the opportunity ready and waiting in Gevrey Chambertin! In the meantime, bravo, and thank you very much for the journey so far, Manuela and Iwan.

Great brunch experience at the Roth bar and grill. The portion sizes are not great, so ended up ordering both the muesli and a plate of eggs and tomatoes (which then gets bit pricey as ended up spending about £25+ Each, that’s before coffee :) ) Pros: - enjoy the walk behind the Roth, there is a beautifully laid garden - cross the road and there is a walk way to Bruton. Lovely little village, try incorporating as a walk. As you approach the train station to can get into the woods and open fields. Note: They closed the kitchen at 8:30pm so you need to be early or call and book in advance

We came for dinner, 2 adults 2 kids. Such a beautiful place and warm welcome. If you are walking from Bruton there is a dedicated footpath. Otherwise plenty of parking. We ate under the outdoor marquee as it was a lovely bright evening. Food was so delicious with a really sophisticated menu. Kids well catered for albeit I'd say for veggie kids you may need to go off piste. I ate excellently with the whipped goats curd and beetroot, then polenta. Lovely staff and quick service. Can't recommend more highly.

Chefs do not have an easy life. Few, if any, think of what goes on in the kitchen before their food arrives to table. Every meal, every plate, every day and every service it should and must be perfect. Yes, they slip up sometimes. I reckon it would be impossible not to. We had issues but the problems were sorted and dealt with in a most professional way by the manager ( the very affable man on the desk). I am sure that on another night everything would have been perfect.

Fabulous place. The surrounding farm provides all of the meat that is aged and butchered on site. They have a cocktail bar and large outdoor pavilion. Service is great. The food is excellent. My Sirloin was as good as any steak I’ve had, priced at £30. Able to cater for veggie and GF. It’s a beautiful spot with gardens to enjoy with your drink and is part of the Art gallery which is also worth a look in.

We loved our Sunday lunch at the Roth Bar & Grill. I am a veggie and am regularly underwhelmed by other establishments' vegetarian offering. Not here - the lentil and mushroom loaf was AMAZING! I tried to work out the flavours so that I can have a go at recreating it myself. We thought the portions sizes were huge, and every element of the roast delicious. We would defs recommend! :-)

Roth Bar & Grill was well organised and serves a great selection of grilled food which was really well prepared and cooked. We really enjoy the Angus sirloin, spit grilled chicken, butter milk fried chicken and lamb chops. The Durslade Farm wine was not my cup of tea :-) it was way to sour finish for a Chardonnay blend for my taste. Mojito was perfect for a hot day :-)

Amazing experience. One of the best michelin star meals i've had the pleasure of eating! Amazing to see the walled kitchen gardens and then the produce used in the kitchen to create an innovative, exciting and delicious menu. Great for my gluten free wife too. Professional warm service. Fantastic food. Thanks!

What a wonderful restaurant. Chef Mark and his team prepared amazing food (even the fish course with our usually hated celeriac and fennel was a delight). The honeyed brioche went into my top 10 dishes eaten, so simple but absolute sticky wonderfulness. The front of house staff were very attentive and friendly and made us feel very welcome and well looked after. First time dining with them and such a shame we're unlikely to be back before they close at the end of September. If you're considering eating there (and why else would you be reading this), then get it booked ASAP! I look forward to seeing what's next.

An incredible visit. The food was delicious and I loved how they described where it was sourced. The non alcoholic cocktails were interesting and tasty. They made me feel really welcome and were good for coeliac and gluten allergies. The veggie food was still incredible. Its expensive but worth the money. I would love to go in daylight to see the grounds.

Just wow. The cooking was incredible, fresh and 100% worth the price. We went for the Experience and every dish blew us away. The service was wonderful and the setting stunning. There's a bar on site if you arrive too early like we did! No need to dress up to the nines either, it's a cosy, comfortable place and you'll want to walk around the garden afterwards.

Really enjoyed my visit to the Ethicurean today. The food was all nicely cooked and well flavoured. Fit Christmas there is a set menu including a yummy mulled cider. I particularly enjoyed the duck main course. Service was friendly, and the restaurant is nicely decorated with wonderful views even on a grey day like today.

An excellent epicurean culinary experience at The Ethicurean. We were the lucky first table to try their new menu and dining concept. Suggest to come earlier slots to get a glimpse of the sunset as the lighting and views were spectacular. The service was excellent and the food, most of which grown on site, was a combination of splendid and unique flavours. Duck and Sea Buckthorn were the two favourites It was my parents anniversary so something complementary would have been nice as a gesture. However didn’t take away from the experience.

Somerset based Osip restaurant serves inventive and tasty dishes with a focus on local and hand-grown ingredients. The intimate setting is perfect for a special meal, or to meet friends for lunch. The portions are very small, but the quality of the food makes up for it.
I went for the lunch menu with wine pairings and was not disappointed. The space is very comfortable and bright, and the staff very engaged and communicative. Each course was obviously well-thought out and prepared and I would definitely go back.

My partner and I had a very good experience at Osip. The tasting menu was excellent. We did the 6 course option which was more than enough food for us. We didn’t do the wine pairing as we were driving but we tried their in-house cider that was delicious. The wait staff were charismatic and knowledgeable. The restaurant certainly deserves its Michelin star and I look forward to coming again. The price is also very good.

Outstanding! In our top three tasting menus of all time. Lovely setting and friendly service. All the dishes looked, smelt and tasted superb. They were very accommodating with our request for no nuts, they also offer a vegan and vegetarian tasting menu. Really enjoyed the fact they serve what is in season so the menu is not fixed, and you get a copy at the end. All the dishes are explained really well when they come out. The timing between courses is perfect. There is street parking but it has a 2 hour limit, and as the tasting menu takes around 2 hours to serve, it might be worth looking for a car park that allows more time, as it’s a lovely walk around the venue location. Plus we would have loved a coffee as it smelt like it was excellent quality but had to get back to the car. We will definitely be returning! Thanks Team Osip for a very memorable meal.

I accidentally discovered this place while browsing on Google maps and it instantly caught my interest, so we decided to book a table for lunch. Well, it was definitely worth coming from London and we built our weekend around this occasion which was very enjoyable. We had a 6-course tasting menu and it was amazing - beautifully presented seasonal ingredients perfectly complemented by a selection of fine wines. A special mention must go to the optional (extra charge) cheese course which far exceeded our expectation and was delicious. Nice decor and impeccable service created a wonderful experience. We look forward to returning again in the future.

This was my second time at OSIP and it was perfection again. The Bruton low key place hides some of the finest food I ever had. Particularly a hispi cabbage and caramelized onion dish was intensely flavorful, a bread ice-cream dessert delicious. The chef has an unique flair for making veggies surprising and exciting. A Michelin star gem in a pretty quaint village. The wine pairing was maybe a little too experimental for my taste but still excellent. And it’s worth mentioning that the young staff is incredibly nice and dedicated. Far from London but can’t wait to go back again.

We visited Osip for lunch today after booking last minute this morning. The food was fantastic and the service matched, not over the top fussy which I find a bit off putting but really friendly, took care of everything we asked for, drinks were offered the right amount. I requested no fish and they were very careful to check exactly what I meant by this and very accommodating. If you enjoy a non alcoholic drink the cherry and cacao is wonderful, never had a drink like it. Incredibly glad they had space for us today, would come back again anytime.

We had a near perfect meal! All dishes were delicious but a couple stood out as exceptional, the squash with smoked whey and the final chocolate dish showed a clarity of cooking and confidence that is ver unusual. The wine pairings were also good with all of them hitting the mark and again a couple really enhancing the meal as a whole. Service was immaculate without being sterile and the young team were engaging and warm. Couldn’t recommend this more highly and looking forward to 2.0

Superb innovative mainly been based cooking. Some very clever dishes, all extremely tasty. Only slight criticism is that servings are on the small side. I know it's multi course fine dining, but making the portion sizes a little bigger would make this just about the perfect restaurant!

Lovely relaxed vibe, super calm and nice staff and exquisite food. Nothing rushed and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We only had 2 glasses of wine between us but the wine prices seem very fair. Interestingly there were only 3 meat courses (small amount of eel, scallops and lamb) out of 10 courses - we liked that. Terrific flavours and even the bread was superb. Bravo!
Adam — Google review
For one star I thought it was underwhelming. The service was great but the food was mediocre. All the dishes apart from the “snacks” - raw veggies from the garden, the beetroot taco and the dessert were all a bit too heavily salted. I gave up on the broad bean and pea dish half way because I found it unpleasantly salty. The chilled courgette soup was very fishy because of the the raw lobster bits in it. I thought it would’ve been better without the lobster. The BBQ chicken main course was tasty but again very salty and the BBQ sauce overpowering - I couldn’t taste the small amount of truffles on the chicken. And if I am honest the dark meat of the chicken was a bit chewy. The use of garden herbs was also heavy-handed. Some herbs left a very long-lasting taste on my palate. The only dish I truly enjoyed was the beetroot taco. I thought the taco was fresh and the beetroot was incredibly aromatic and tasty. The seasoning was balanced. Overall considering the ingredients and the execution at £230+ per head (tasting menu + wine pairing) it was not the great value for money.

We had such an amazing dining experience at Osip. I will definitely remember that meal for a long time. We loved everything about the restaurant- the service, the ambience, the simplicity of the place, as well as the artistry in each dish. To say that every dish was absolutely delicious would be an understatement. They also gave us a handwritten card. And to top it all off, they recognised my name as soon as I said it. I didn’t have to spell it out for them which is what I’m used to doing since my name is not very common to say the least. They made us feel like they were really expecting us. It’s definitely in the little things. Amazing service. Amazing food. We’ll definitely go back.
RK Villar — Google review
The food was incredible. We have had a few high end meals and this is the third Michelin star restaurant we've been to and the food at Osip is very different to food we have had elsewhere. We loved that we got to experience dishes and combinations we had never come across before. We particularly loved the black garlic and Jerusalem artichoke, the pumpkin sorbet and the broth that came with the bread course. The interior is beautiful and all the crockery our food came on was 'instagram perfect'. However we felt the service and atmosphere was cold and almost unfriendly. It is the first time I have felt out of place at a high end restaurant and there did not seem to be the same love from the people explaining the dishes and wines as at other places. Such a shame for food and a cost venue that deserves warmth and guests to feel comfortable.

What a fantastic place. The restaurant looks amazing and the atmosphere is really welcoming for such a high end restaurant. The staff are young, enthusiastic and really good at explaining the food and drinks. A big thanks to all the chefs and people there for a wonderful evening for my girlfriends birthday. We had the tasting menu and every dish was incredible in terms of vibrant colours, unusual flavours and high quality ingredients - All served by a friendly and knowledgeable team from a tiny kitchen! The chefs were very accommodating to my friends pregnancy dietary requirements and felt like we could still enjoy the same experience without differing the menu too much. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and we loved the serving dishes!

An absolutely delicious dinner. We decided to select own our wines as with a large group it enabled us to enjoy a good variety by the bottle over all the courses. Service was informed, relaxed but tightly delivered. A few minor blips around water, but nothing of concern. Incredible complexity of execution and depth of flavours, presented beautifully make for a very special restaurant… a meal to remember. Interior is minimal with a few books to add to the decor: country modernism in a beautiful old building. If you’re in the area, make sure you go, it’s not to be missed.

The ambiance is casual as patrons dine in a residential area, but the cuisine is exceptional. Matts Kitchen offers a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with a straightforward menu consisting of one daily dish, accompanied by various appetizers and desserts. Reservations are essential since it operates from Matts own home.
Great food, friendly chef, simple concept. Sit in the quirky dining room in Matt's house and enjoy a fixed menu. Bring your own wine, and sparkling water. We had a lovely fermented turmeric hummus atop some toast. Boqurones on toast. A lump of fine local cheddar. A chilled cucumber consomme. Then for main Indonesian chicken and giant couscous (fregola). Dessert was a dark chocolate bomb and a summer berries ice cream.

Had the most amazing 3 course last night. What an experience! Lovely intimate setting and Matt literally opens up his home to welcome a select few. Lovely staff and Matt is a delight to chat to. He spends the time to speak to you on your table, and if your lucky, he might even show you his kitchen. It felt like visiting a friend for a meal, except the friend cooks Michelin star food. If you haven't been, stop thinking about it, just book and go now if you enjoy delicious, well crafted flavours. Looking forward to seeing what's on the menu next month. Don't forget it's BYO, which is great being able to bring along your favourite drink. Keep up the amazing work Matt and the rest of the team. We look forward to coming back soon to support local again in another month or so.

What a wonderful dining experience! The food was excellent, Matt and the waitresses were super friendly and hospitable. Very reasonable and lovely to bring your own alcohol / drinks too! Thank you so much - came on a recommendation and will certainly recommend / come again if in the area.

What a place. A different seasonal menu each month where you get everything listed, and it's BYO 👀 The service and atmosphere was beyond expectations. Matt greeted us at the door and went on to explain each dish as it came out. I emailed prior to the meal to ask if a candle could be put in my husband's dessert for his birthday... Every course featured a candle. Brilliant! The food was of course out of this world. Stunning flavours and all presented beautifully. I cannot recommend Matt's Kitchen enough. The order: £40 per person for everything on the menu Bring your own drinks 👀 📅 Visited in November 2023

Took my girlfriend for a birthday meal and we were wowed by the place. The ambience when you walk is very cosy as you're greeted by Matt. He talks you through the dishes on the set menu as they're served, all of which were delicious. Can't wait to visit again soon! Booking is a must, it was a full house.

My wife, brilliantly, booked Matt's Kitchen to celebrate my 50th birthday. It really was the perfect choice. The dining experience is unique, the welcome warm and the food, well, simply divine. Matt is a superb host, fun, warm and friendly, and his passion for his food is obvious. We had three sublime courses, each introduced with an explanation of what we were about to enjoy. And enjoy we did. Each course was a taste sensation, generous in their portion size and flavours. The atmosphere in the restaurant is friendly, comfortable, unique and original. For the quality of the dishes and the personal service, it really can't be beaten. I cannot recommend Matt's Kitchen enough.

My husband and I enjoyed a childless weekend in Bruton and spent our first evening out to dinner at Matt's Kitchen. Every part of our visit was perfection, from the warm greeting right up to final goodbye from Matt, himself. The food was exquisite, every mouthful was unbelievable. I would have booked us in for the Saturday if Matt hadn't been fully booked. It's a set menu each month but yes, the food was that good that I'd have eaten it all over again the very next day. Matt and his team are the perfect hosts, the restaurant is so warm and comforting. Being able to BYOB gave it that extra feel of relaxation... as though we'd hired a charming personal chef! Do not hesitate to book Matt's Kitchen. We will be returning to Bruton and our first stop will be Matt's Kitchen!

Had the most gorgeous evening with Matt & his lovely team. Can’t recommend his wonderful place more highly. Food made with love & care. attentive service, Fabulous setting, absolutely loved the decor, the artwork & his honouring of the unique character of thimble cottage. Definitely a dining experience to be savoured from a genuine host that truly deserves his reputation. Thank you Matt for sharing your home, you are a legend. We will return. Many Blessings, love & light 🙏🏾

My husband and I went to Matt's Kitchen last night after a long week of work. It was just what the soul ordered. Food was thought out, flavours were fantastic and made with the best ingredient, love! Matt's hosting was lovely and personable, we were late and he was very forgiving! The team he has is also lovely and personable, timely service while letting you sit and and his place has a very relaxed dinner vibe without being ushered out to turn tables over. Beautiful bathroom experience, all the stuff you see there is well thought out and as Matt chatted to us, he has taken his time to hone and has no wastage with food, and has organic hand towels. Lovely hosting, fantastic food, byo drinks. Really lovely Friday night, thanks Matt and team of ladies, you kicked of our weekend beautifully

The Queens Arms is a delightful pub that offers a fantastic alternative for Sunday roast to those with dietary restrictions. The meal is described as lovely and the service is attentive and friendly. It's important to make a reservation in advance due to its popularity, and they are accommodating of dietary requirements. Just lovely. Superb welcome, atmosphere just what a pub should be. Food selection good, Sunday roast excellent. Staff just superb, professional without being too serious. Absolute delight. Am I biased because it was once my home. I think you know me better than that by now. Top spot.

This used to be a great pub, used by many of the local community. The last occupants tried to do something digging but failed badly New tenants are excellent and it looks as if the glory days are comong back. Not tried the food yet but will on next visit.

Such a lovely meal. As a GF vegetarian this was the nicest meal I’ve ever had for a Sunday roast alternative. Our friends enjoyed their meat Sunday roasts and deserts too. The service was attentive and amiable. Booking is important as it’s very popular and let them know your dietary requirements in advance if you have any- I was pleasantly surprised that they had made such an effort to accommodate my requirements. Will definitely be returning.

Just the best as always. Thanks Simon & Clarely. The haloumi salad I had was delicious. It was a starter but made into a main course when I asked. See you soon!

Sunday lunch was gorgeous itself. Starters weren't very inspiring but puddings all looked good. Checked out the weekday menu which looked OK but doesn't really cater to the older person's taste, mainly burgers and curry.

Had a lovely evening meal Saturday night hubby had the gammon I had the chicken curry, both was lovely and good size portions. It was table service and the 2 young ladies were very polite and helpful nothing no trouble for them. They had a good assortment of beers and other drinks, we had popped in the evening before to book a table and called in the nx lunch time for a drink in their beer garden while we were visiting
