Outdoor Activities
Las Canteras Beach is a renowned seaside destination in Gran Canaria, known for its vibrant array of wooden boats adorning the picturesque golden shores. It is a beloved spot for snorkeling enthusiasts, offering ample opportunities to explore the diverse marine life thriving beneath its crystal-clear waters. This popular urban beach extends over three kilometers and boasts an inviting esplanade lined with exceptional dining establishments and bars.
Visited back in February, what a great day. Amazing beach in Las Palmas. I appreciate the good free facilities and services such as toilets, changing rooms, showers. Also was very clean. The beach 🏖️ is very long and you can just relax, or do different sports or activities such as volleyball 🏐, surfing 🌊 or just take a walk 🚶‍♂️along the promenade where you can find lots of shops, bars 🍹,caffee☕ and restaurants 🍜. Wheelchairs accessibility ♿, Everything there can make it a nice experience and a nice holiday spot.

Really beautiful place to visit . The Beach is really amazing i recommend it their is alot of activities you can do
Muaen Sheikh — Google review
Over 20 degrees with sunshine even during Christmas and a 1.6 km long beach filled with yellow sand. Perfect swimming beach if wind is not so strong. directly behind is a pedestrian street where you can buy everything
Jing Ma — Google review
A glorious stretch of sand. The promenade has so many cafes, bars and restaurants too that you will always find something to suit your taste. A great location to people-watch too. We walked up and down the entire length as the temperature rose from 21 to 29C and enjoyed every minute.
John Witchell — Google review
Beautiful place for a walk, with plenty of cafes and restaurants to stop off at
Billy McBain — Google review
On a November morning a stroll along the beach at 26'c was better than a cold damp dreary day in England. Lovely to be in the sun again, couldn't think of a better place
The Gaffer — Google review
Perfect place for sunset pictures. Very calming and refreshing. Definitely worth visiting.
Ale S. — Google review
The beach is excellent. It is sandy with nice water and it is also very long so you can find different interesting spots where to stay. In the northern part the water is calm, in the middle you can find rocks in the water so be careful and in the southern part there are waves suitable for surfing. I would 100% recommend!
Momo — Google review
This beach really took me by surprise. The sand is stunning, so clean and easy to walk on, the sea is clean albeit a little wild, but all in all the whole experience on the beach was fab. So many different activities happening, the pier/broad walk is a great place to chill too but for me, it was towel down on the sand and taking it all in.
G Squared — Google review
Very nice but always crowded. Walk enough through north before you jump in, there is a sea pool there, you can easily swim and be careful where you set your towel, tie can make you wet otherwise all of a sudden
Murat ?nder — Google review
A fantastic place to be. Such a nice and wide beach with it's cool and smooth sand which is fantastic to walk in. There are places to change clothing and the security is high with several life guards along the entire beach. A perfect place for a day on holiday either if you want to swim or just lie down and rest in the sun. Or both.
Fredrik Eriksmo — Google review
Nice beach place with a long walkway next to the beach. A lot of restaurants and cafeterias can be find. Lot of local people at the beach which makes it feel more local than touristic. The beach has different „water areas“. Calm and almost no waves at the very top, waves and rocks in the middle. All in all very good for us (family with 2y old kid).
Stefan Garcia J. — Google review
Wonderful beach area with a beautiful Promenade full of great eateries for all budgets. Shops that are reasonably priced. Beautiful sands and a totally popular place with locals and tourists alike.
Garry Hoppe — Google review
It's amazing beach with wonderful view and lots of surfers! But you should be careful about stones in the water.
Marina Makarenko (Bella Thompson) — Google review
Playa de Las Canteras in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is an enchanting destination that captivates both locals and tourists alike. With its expansive golden sandy beach, turquoise waters, and vibrant promenade, this beach destination has much to offer. The beach itself is clean and well-maintained, perfect for sunbathing and relaxation. The gentle waves also make it ideal for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts. The iconic rock formation known as "La Barra" adds a picturesque element to the view and is an excellent spot for snorkeling. Along the promenade, you'll find numerous restaurants, bars, and shops, allowing you to savor delicious local cuisine and shop for souvenirs. In the evenings, the promenade comes alive with street performers and music, creating a lively atmosphere. It's worth noting that the beach can get quite crowded on weekends, so visiting on weekdays might be a good idea for a quieter experience. Playa de Las Canteras is a perfect destination for both relaxation and entertainment, offering something for everyone. A must-visit location in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria!
Ahmet — Google review
Wonderfully vibrant yet relaxed feel for a bit of October sun. Plenty for everyone with various shops, bars, restaurants and bakeries lining the beachfront and an area for beach volleyball. Our timing seems to have avoided the large crowds as I would imagine this having a different feel during the peak of the Summef
Andy Reade — Google review
We love this place, miles of beach, shops and restaurants. We sat on the edge and had a coffee and watched beach volleyball for a while, walked about halfway. Then laid-out on the beach. 2 loungers was 6 Euros. Had some Sangria and walked around the shops.
Rob Harrison — Google review
Great for city beach.. clean and well maintained.. Just not very private as expected from city beach.. very good amenities along the promenade and generally very pleasant place ot visit
Tatana Gmail — Google review
Beautiful and clean beach, well protected... Many good restaurants along the walkway... 👌👌
Sumesh Payyakkil — Google review
3 kilometer long sandy beach where you can swim and surf. restaurants and grocery stores and other shopping along the entire beach. here you can lie right on the sand or rent a sunbed for €3. possibility for, among other things, volleyball. play equipment for the youngest children.
Reidar Biørn Michelet — Google review
Good beach, quality and space improves as you head towards La isleta. Endless restaurants and bars along the whole beach. There are also showers and tap for washing of feet. Beach is fairly peaceful and we were not disturbed by beach vendors.
M Ade — Google review
Very diverse and enjoyable beach! Plenty of sand :) ranging from normal gold towards Isleta to almost black near the surfing center. Weather is always warmer during the low tide in the first half of the day, rocks in the ocean are visible and all the rainbow fishes are out and easy to watch - they come close to the bay. You can even feed them-great fun for kids. Also this is a good time for snorkeling as waves are low. In the second part of the day there's high tide and waves are huge, mixed with sand. The ocean takes back quickly most of the beach.
Natalija Morozova — Google review
A beautiful beach, fine sand, transparent water. I was there first week of January 2024 and outside temperature was around +25, you can just swim and sunbathe 🌞 🏖
A. Alex — Google review
We were staying on a hotel right on the beach so it was great to just pop out of the room and relax there. The beach is really clean (saw it being cleaned every morning), the waters are really nice and there is enough space for everyone. The promenade around the beach is a nice place to walk around and is filled with bars and restaurants of all sorts. Highly recommended if you are in the area !!

Plaza de Santa Ana

Mentioned on
Historic Sites
Neighborhoods
Plaza de Santa Ana is a charming square situated in the historical Vegueta district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Notably, it features a stunning cathedral, the Santa Ana Cathedral, and two iconic bronze dog sculptures at its entrance. Other notable buildings in the vicinity are the 17th-century Palacio Regental and remnants of the Bishops palace that was devastated by fire. The Museo Diocesano de Arte Sacro also houses an impressive collection of religious art.
It is a lovely square next to the cathedral of Santa Ana in Las Palmas which is surrounded by impressive old buildings . I would recommend visiting the cathedral ,it costs 2€ and you can get on the top and get access to a stunning view of the Plaza de Santa Ana and the city.I'm sure that the elegant architecture and the irresistible energy will make your visit unforgettable. Moreover, there are some nice terrace bars, where you can sit down for anything ranging a glass of wine to a tapa.
Ioanna Oikonomou — Google review
Very nice peaceful clean plaza to hang out in the lovely under-rated Old Town of Las Palmas. Visited during a weekday in early May and very quiet. It was a cloudy day otherwise photos would have been really nice. We visited the cathedral and museum afterwards which is definitely worth the 3 euros.
Sue Vogt-Skard — Google review
I hope that this place lives forever in my memories because it is wonderful. Very charming whether day or night. My favorite moment in this plaza was the warm night before we left the island, stomach full of tapas and Spanish beer, cool wind, flowers in bloom, moon light shining down, and people all around quietly conversing or playing toss with their dogs. Go make some island memories at Plaza de Santa Ana!
Holly Funk — Google review
One of the beautiful squares of Las Palmas located in the old part of the city, which is ideal for evening and morning walks. Great atmosphere of the streets and old buildings. There are many museums nearby that you must see, and remember that this is not a metropolis, it is a wonderful, quiet, not spoiled (yet) city.
Lukasz Taborski — Google review
The old town is beautiful and peaceful. Lovely buildings, nice cafes just a nice place to go for a walk round.
Billy McBain — Google review
Nice plaza some interesting buildings and a cathedral. You cannot see inside the cathedral however for 2 euro you can go up the tower ( by lift) for fantastic views of the area.
Les Lowe — Google review
The cathedral was really something! The old town of Las Palmas is really worth a visit. If you are staying in Canteras area, take a bus, it's 1,40 euros to get to the bus station called Teatro. Walk around, have a coffee or something to eat an enjoy! Lots of museums around if you are interested in.
M M — Google review
Picturesque square located in the old part of Las Palmas. The whole area is worth a visit - narrow cobblestone streets, colourful colonial-style buildings with wooden balconies, and vibrant squares - a perfect place to admire historic architecture while taking a leisurely stroll.
Maxim Smirnoff — Google review
Very nice square in the historic area of Las Palmas. Has lots of benches to sit down on and the church is very impressive there as well.
Tom Parry — Google review
Beautiful walking area. Very quiet today as it was a public holiday. Worth a visit.
Dee Sturgess — Google review
We did the hop on hop off bus and would highly recommend it. This is the old town and the bus gives you great information about the heritage of Las Palmas via headphones.

You can see 8 green metal dogs. They represent the history of the name of Canaries islands. It wasn't from birds that the Canary Islands, known in Spanish as Islas Canarias, got their name, but dogs, or perhaps seals depending on what you believe. The name comes from the Latin word for dog, canaria, and was given by the first Europeans to arrive here
Raimundas Vaisvilas — Google review
Beautiful place, not crowded, free tourist online guard, cheap entrance, amazing view on the city and the sea out of the tower
Renata Stoklasová — Google review
Lovely area. Very impressed. Lots of seating and the cathedral at one end and town hall at the other
Jill Baxter — Google review
This square is very pretty. It was super nice to walk the streets of the old town. There are some benches where you can rest and if you are lucky you can hear some music from some street artists that will make this place even more magical. If you are in Las Palmas it is a must to viait this place. I strongly recommend it.
Momo — Google review
I love the dog sculptures and the place. Took photos there. The night lights gave it drama and beauty.
A D — Google review
Las Palmos. If you want a break from the pool and fancy some clothes shopping it's pretty good, not great but plenty to look round. My 17 year old daughter was happy. Plenty of cafes and the bus station gets you in and out covering most of the island.

Specialty Museums
The Elder Museum of Science and Technology is a contemporary science museum located in Parque Santa Catalina. The museum offers interactive exhibits, including a replica space station, where visitors can explore hands-on displays and experience the excitement of space travel. The museum also features a 3D cinema and planetarium for immersive educational experiences. Additionally, the park surrounding the museum transforms into a vibrant nightlife hub at night, with bars, clubs, and discos bustling with activity.
This is a great place to go with kids over 3. It has a very playful and interactive theme running throughout. The staff are fantastic and the prices are very affordable compared to other attractions in the area. Plenty to see and the tickets are valid all day. Highly recommend.
Rachel Senior — Google review
Great place if you like science and technology. Place was almost empty on a Sunday, around noon. For me biggest problem was the fact that most writing is in Spanish. Some exhibits have translation but not more than 20% I would say. You can use Google translate with the camera but it takes time. Fighter jet is for sure best feature there. 6€ for the ticket is worth paying.
Bojan Kuruc — Google review
It's a great little museum with a 3 story building. And there are lots of things from planetary objects to almost everything. It's amazing how they manage to show so many things in this building. It's a perfect museum for kids. There is a lot to learn at a basic level. There are also 30 minute shows about human life from stone age to till future.
Shoaib Sohail — Google review
Good museum if you are taking kids. Be aware when you visit if exhibitions are not closed - most were when I visited on March 2022. There is some educational information for the little ones, but overall it is a shallow experience. Entrance for foreigners for 6 euros.
Felipe Avila — Google review
Great place to visit visiting! Only down side would be exhibition writing in Spanish. Nice exhibition of fighter jet and you can easily spend hour or hour and half there
Rok Kepa — Google review
:) Still really good. We miss a few exhibits that they used to have - the free / extra gyroscope experience especially - the robot coaster is a really neat alternative and has various levels of speed and rotation you can request beyond average :). You do have an additional charge for the robot coaster. Clean, well presented, staff professional, informative and helpful. We got lucky to have the place almost to ourselves last Sunday afternoon. Of course when the museum is empty it is a lot easier to pass through quickly and you miss the extra experience of watching others learn and explore. Highly recommended, especially for kids. Bonus: Air conditioning throughout :)

Muy entretenido para pasar un buen rato en familia . Interesante para todas las edades. Un precio súper económico con bastantes descuentos . Personal amable . Lo único negativo, en algunas zonas hace algo de calor , pero bastante soportable . (Translated by Google) Very entertaining to have a good time with the family. Interesting for all ages. A super affordable price with plenty of discounts. Friendly staff. The only negative, in some areas it is a little hot, but quite bearable.

One of the best museums I have ever visited. I’ve been through the ones in London and elsewhere in Europe. I’d say the planet rooms here are the best and there’s a lot of fun interactive stuff for kids. Worth the money and the visit .good place for adults too.
Rosana Eats — Google review
This fabulous museum is a whole experience, from its interactive installations, to the engaging planetarium, the 3D cinema, or the different simulators that they have on display. There's just so much to see and do. It's accessible to anyone looking for an entertaining, enlightening experience, with friends or family. Almost every installation is presented both in Spanish and in English. Regarding the staff, they are a group of lovely, professional people whose kindness and predisposition to guide and share facts just make the visit to this museum even better. You can even leave the place and come back on the same day without having to buy a new ticket. No matter how many times I visit this place, I always discover or learn something new. I totally recommend it to everyone.
Starboy Devgan Rhei — Google review
Very interesting museum, much better than we expected for a tourist area. Highly recommend trying the 'walk the plank' virtual reality and sitting in the fighter jet cockpit. Don't miss the slightly hidden entrance to the airliner fuselage. A great day out and a good picnic area in the park outside. Parking is easy, behind the museum and cheap.
simon mitchelmore — Google review
Lots of puzzle games, logic games, great experience, and love the planes 😁 you can actually sit inside the cockpit of a fighter jet and commercial plane and see what it's like as a pilot 😀
H music C — Google review
Good place for children and good price in entrance. A lot of thematics in one mueum: plane, space, dinosaure, biology, volcanic stones, ... Some fun for children. You can spend 2 or 3 hours there, and maybe more, to have a tour. People are very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, everything is in spanish. No other language is available :(
Mounir Bensalah — Google review
Great learnings for adults and kids. There are different subjects from biology to geometry. Very spacious that allows self experimenting. Numerous exhibitions are also there. Both fun and educational. The price is very good in comparison to what they offer. Would have been even better when they add more explanations and subtitles in English.
Family Bergmann — Google review
Fantastic little museum that focuses on interactive displays and activities to get their message across. I thought I would be done in an hour but ended up spending 3 hours there watching 3D films, entering the planetarium and being part of the superb house of the future robot presentation. Lots to see and do for both children and adults alike.
Michael Lees — Google review
Really cool museum, with several floors. Lots for kids to interact with. There’s a VR for exploring Egyptian tombs or walking on a skyscraper. Theres a planetarium dome, that has shows every half hour or so, that last around ten minutes. There are other 3D movies. futuristic life demonstrations showing how the future may look, and loads more. If you’re in the area, especially with kids, then definitely check this place out, they will enjoy it for a few hours. Staff were brilliant too, more than happy to show you around or help with VR etc.. definitely worth it 👍
Se an — Google review
I'm over 65 so entrance was only €2. The museum covers 4 floors with everything from jet engines to dinosaurs. Information plaques are in Spanish but trusty Google Translate makes the experience great. Well worth a visit when in Las Palmas.

Roque Nublo

Mentioned on
Mountain peak
Roque Nublo, a magnificent geological formation, offers breathtaking views and an adventurous experience. Located in Gran Canaria, this impressive volcanic crag attracts nature enthusiasts from all over the world. Travelers seeking excitement can scuba dive amidst vibrant coral reefs or traverse desert dunes on a camel. For those interested in history and culture, walking tours of UNESCO-listed Vegueta and the historical towns of Teror and Arucas provide ample opportunities for exploration.
One of the famous sights to see on the island. You have a great view from the top. Sturdy shoes are recommended. The path up can be slippery so watch your step but the hike is easy in general.
Stephie K. — Google review
Excellent and breathtaking view over the clouds. Water, sun creme, snacks and suitable shoes would be helpful to you during the hiking. If you are in there during the sunset, you will have lovely atmosphere. There is a car park which is very limited so please be aware of it. Also, you can see the grocery/food car in the entrance.
Muge BN — Google review
Definitely definitely worth the walk up. Especially at the evening to watch sunset. It's stunning. Make sure you go right to the top. Beautiful
Aimee roberts — Google review
A scenic place, I think it’s nicer and bigger than on the photos. There are several hiking paths to it, I was hiking from Ayacata. Interesting rock formations along the way.
Balázs Kecskés — Google review
Roque Nublo stands at 1850m and we hiked over 1200m to get there but you can drive further up and only have a short hike of 1.5km which is what most people do. It’s one of the largest natural crags in the world. Wear sturdy shoes as quite rocky and can be a bit slippery near the top but nothing dangerous. We saw a few young kids up there. Amazing views. It was a really clear day when we went up and you can clearly see Mount Teide in Tenerife. Stunning scenery and a really enjoyable easy hike from the car park. Plenty of room to park your car and a nice ice-cream drinks place for a chill after the walk back to your car. There are places you can easily sit down which is nice.
Sue Vogt-Skard — Google review
Breathtaking views. It’s about 3 km out-and-back hike in total. Be ready to do a little bit of climbing. Get a jacket, it gets windy and cold up there. Definitely worth visiting this place.
Zuhra Burkitbayeva — Google review
Decent piece of rock, easily accessible from a nearby parking - just a short walk up there. Great views all over!
Paweł Safian — Google review
A place not to be missed in Gran Canaria. The road up the mountain is difficult, but the scenery is definitely worth it. We took our four-year-old boy with us and he was very excited all the way. Remember to bring a jacket, especially if you set out in the morning as the wind can be strong.
Yumei Ran — Google review
Beautiful hike up to roque Nublo. Not very challenging, would recommend active gear. Great route up and worth the climb. Once up you reach a plain field with a view of rock nublo. Average 30min up, can be done faster.
Adeel Qurashi — Google review
Amazing place with an amazing view over the island! Be aware that parking is only allowed in the parking areas and not on the street - otherwise you might get a ticket.
Oxi Doroshkevich — Google review
The view form the top of the trail is incredible. There is a 360 view and if you are lucky as we where you can see a lot of clouds moving around very fast. The trip to the top is short like 30 minutes form the starting place where you can park your car. There is also a little shop where you can buy refreshments and some food right next to the parking spot.
Momo — Google review
Amazing hiking experience! The trail has some elevation, so bring plenty of water. Be mindful of the high UV index - protection is key. The views and rock formations are unique and a must-see when visiting Gran Canaria. It's popular and crowded with tourists, especially in good weather. Parking is available but fills up quickly. A definite highlight of the island!
Max Flieger — Google review
Roque Nublo in Gran Canaria is simply breathtaking! This iconic natural monument rises majestically above the island, offering unparalleled panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The hike to reach the rock formation is invigorating, with well-maintained trails and awe-inspiring scenery along the way. Standing beside Roque Nublo is a humbling experience, and watching the sunrise or sunset from this vantage point is absolutely magical. It's a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike!
Ioannis Kokkas — Google review
Absolutely spectacular. We are lucky on the day as well that the cloud cover was very high, meaning we got a spectacular view for miles around of the mountains. There is limited parking and it is a sensible walk from the car parks. As others have mentioned, sensible footwear is a must, as it will severely limit your ability to enjoy this spot otherwise. 100% recommend as part of a trip around this part of the island.
Josh Blakey — Google review
It was very windy road going up there but totally worth a visit ! The hike takes around 40mins to 1 hour.
Bing — Google review
Nice short hike (30 minutes up). First part through pine trees, then exposed over rocks. Shoes with grip recommended but doable with sneakers if you're smart about placing them. Views across valley from the plateau
Alex Wauters — Google review
Very beautiful even it is quite overcrowded. You must be lucky to find parking lot as well. But one of the best places I've seen on this 🏝 I recommend good shoes, there were some people in flip flaps. 🤦‍♂️
Zdislav Doleček — Google review
Definitely a must in your list of places to visit in Gran Canaria. The views are spectacular. The trek is fairly easy from the parking lot. Make sure you got proper footwear and extra layer as it is cooler up there. Would have love to see sunset/sunrise from here but maybe in another time.

Pico de las Nieves

Mentioned on
Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Pico de las Nieves, the highest peak in Gran Canaria, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the island. A road leads close to the top, providing easy access for visitors via car hire or organized bus tours. Driving towards Pico de las Nieves allows you to explore the diverse and beautiful inland areas of Gran Canaria. Situated in the middle of the island, it is easily reachable from any location on Gran Canaria.
Great view, but we recommend to hike there from Llanos de la pez (a camping site where you can park). You can drive all the way to the top of Pico de las Nieves by car but then you miss out on the great nature of the mountain and the forest around it. The hiking area has many great spots and more beautiful viewpoints and perspectives of the landscape and the roque nublo than you will see from the parking lot. Also the hiking paths will not be as crowdy, the top is not really a quiet place. Our hike took us 2 hours and 43 min in motion and had a distance of 9,78km going from Llanos de la Pez to the top and another route back - all together just a fantastic hike.
concave — Google review
In my opinion the most beautiful place on the island with amazing views and hiking routes, although it is pretty crowded. You can go here by car so expect lousy tourists here, there is a military radar installation near so that is also cool. If you are here during the winter like me, bring long trousers and a jacket, it gets cold and windy at some times.
Alex Green — Google review
Long drive but a stunning view. A must visit when you’re on the island.
Jelle — Google review
Must see. Bear in mind the road is a bit narrow and indefinitely recommended coming earlier, as parking spaces are limited and can get busy really quick.
Ramona Dogaru — Google review
If you are lucky and the weather is good you can see all the way to Teneriffa and the highest mountain of Spain "Teide". You can drive all the way up, parking is possible at the side of the road, can be a bit crowded depending of the time. You really have a great view from the top. Must see when you're on the island.
Stephie K. — Google review
Place of this peak is not good in google map, I tried to chang it but I can't, the right place is near here and named as Parking, . So give you navigation the Parking location. Nice view, the road to get there is nice too. Can be cold, take your coat with yourself, sit somewhere en take deep look for some time, think about it.
Sirwan Azmoon — Google review
One of the best point of the island!! Just try to be there without cloudy weather 😁 there was a f.cking strong wind today and you could freeze there afterwards. Today we're there in 10° but in coast side 28 😁
Engin AKAR — Google review
We chose to get here through a hike and I highly recommend it. This way you can see more beautifull scenery and the hike is not that difficult. The trail is called S-51 and we started it close to Llamo de la Pez camping. It is 2.3km long and it crosses the forrest so you have a lot of natural shade to protect you from the sun and heat. (2h to get up and back)
Momo — Google review
Stunning view. In good weather conditions you can see Tenerife too. Beautiful valley with evergreen trees around, pretty rocks in the distance. There is a military area next to it.
Anna Jánosi — Google review
Impressive views and on a clear day you can see Tenerife and Mount Teide. It was super clear the day we hiked up. If you’re not into hiking you can drive right to the top and park. Apparently it’s always quite busy. We hiked up from Llanos de la Pez and hardly saw anyone on the way up (3.5km) but it’s quite a climb so you need sturdy shoes. There was a van parked at the top where you can buy drinks and snacks.
Sue Vogt-Skard — Google review
One of the best places on the island, if not the best. The view is stunning, you can get to the top by car and there are lots of hiking trails nearby.
Maximilian Both — Google review
Cycled to Pico de Las Nieves yesterday and was a great challenging ride out in the wind and intense heat, but enjoyed the day so much! Would recommend to any keen cyclist of a decent ability as it's a long, long climb all the way to the top. I cycled it from Maspalomas via Fataga, San Bartolome de Tirajana and returned via San Bartolome de Tirajana, Sardine and Doctoral via the GC500. Plenty of café stops available on route but I could only manage coffee and cake at 3 stops.

One of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Go for viewing the sunset there, it is more than worth it!
Christian Str — Google review
Beautiful trail to the top through the forest from the parking Llanos de la Pez (ca. 2 hours to the top). We only met 2 people on our way to top. There is a nice view to Roque Nublo and also to the other side of the island.

Exquisite cuisine with a great ambient. Place: it is located in the old city of las palmas. Decorated in a colonial style with modern touches. It is cozy and warm. This place is always full so you need to book in advance. Service: they are kind and fast enough. Always Keen to recommend the best items on the menu as well as out of the menu dishes. They could be a bit more attentive tho, things like refiling drinks, or offering more bread makes the difference. Food: they started with homemade walnuts bread. Really soft and sweet inside but with a savoury crust. Some cold cuts, corn bread and tomate with oil. Everything was very tasty. For mains we had. Truffle gnochis: really delicious a must try. Eggs and navajas(seafood): that was a surprise for a dish. Good combination with a running yolk inside the omelette and the seafood on top. Ham croquettes: crunchy outside with a thin crust, creamy and plenty of ham inside. Oxtail with sauce: tasty and tender, perfect 24 hours slow cooked pig: this is another must try. Crunchy outside and extremely tender inside. Desserts Toffee with vainilla and caramel: nice but a bit too sweet Cream of vanilla and berries: original taste a bit sweet and savoury. Natillas: a nice and creamy traditional dessert. This is a very recommended place in Las Palmas both for lunch or dinner.

Great restaurant and fab food the only hiccup was a rather stroppy waiter .. luckily the interaction was at the end of the meal . Great wine list and strongly recommend a visit .. The red tuna tartar with fried egg is an eye opener !! If you have room the cheese cake too .. it brings back memories of what these American specials were all about 😁

Very small place with wonderfully delicious well crafted food.

The Norwegian lobster rice & the nut bread were amazing, but we waited 30min between the staters and the main course. Starters were a bit unbalanced, too much dressing on the asparagus and not enough seasoning on the gnocchis. The desert was pretty good.
Meryem Bennani — Google review
We were a group of five with reservations. For starters, we ordered the asparagus, shrimp in a light red sauce, croquetas, and ensaladilla de atún. Each was beautifully presented, as if specially made for a photo shoot in Bon Appétit magazine, and deliciously dressed; the flavors melded well in the mouth. I cannot say which was my favorite as they were all fabulous. For my main dish, I decided on the Arroz Cremoso con Cigalas. I will say the flavor was wonderful. However, disappointingly, it was only rice in a brown sauce and two small, 5cm, crayfish tail slices. It was not a dish I would order again. Others at the table ordered the cochinillo, the steak tartar, and the roast beef, which by all accounts were marvelous. The head of the table chose a Ribera del Duero, which pleasantly complimented all the plates. For dessert, most of us had the vanilla pudding, which came with a spoon of vanilla ice cream. It was truly magnificent, with flavors of vanilla, and I believe cardamom; it was large enough for four people to fully enjoy. Thank you, Lucas, for introducing me to this amazing restaurant.

Great food, excellent and unintrusive, non pushy waiter and waitress, who know their stuff. Food is very far from generic and quick. Our meal took about 90 minutes, 2 starters, 3 main courses and a dessert between three people. Make no mistake, it's expensive, but in my opinion totally worth it. Beautifully presented food with obviously good quality ingredients. All tastes good. I'd recommend it for couples.

If you're looking for a Mediterranean restaurant with European flair in the sleepy town of Mogan on Gran Canaria, look no further than Restaurante Los Guayres. With its delicious food, attentive waitstaff and beautiful outdoor seating area, this place is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The highchairs are also wheelchair accessible which makes it great for families. And don't forget to enjoy a glass of wine or some Scandinavian cocktails while you dine - they have both!
We enjoyed the tasting menu very much. Such skill on display, unexpected and wonderful flavours and textures. And very reasonably priced for a Michelin starred restaurant. Highly recommended.

The menu is a culinary delight, which offers a fantastic selection of dishes that showcase the best of Canarian cuisine. Each dish is expertly prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients, and the presentation is simply stunning. The flavors are rich and authentic, giving you a true taste of the local culture. The staff at Los Guayres are knowledgeable and passionate about the food they serve, and their attention to detail is truly commendable. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that every guest feels welcome and well taken care of. Overall, Los Guayres restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a top-notch fine dining experience. Los Guayres will leave a lasting impression.

An excellent experience from start to finish. I keep going back to this restaurant and it never disappoints. The decor is classy but not overwhelming, the dishes on the tasting menu are consistently delightful and surprising, and the chef really shows different facets of his craft, as each dish is truly different and there is no “prevailing taste theme” which is the weakness of some Michelin restaurants. The wine pairing is a good mix of local and international wines. The service is flawless. I am looking forward to returning to Los Guayres this Easter with my family.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurante Los Guayres in Playa de Mogán on Gran Canaria, and I must say it was an absolutely fabulous experience. From start to finish, everything about this restaurant was great! Christmas tasting menu, outstanding! The service at Restaurante Los Guayres was exceptional, with knowledgeable and attentive staff who provided excellent recommendations and made me feel welcome and well taken care of. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also lovely, with a cozy and intimate ambiance that made for a truly special dining experience. I would highly recommend Restaurante Los Guayres to anyone looking for exceptional food and service on Gran Canaria. It's an outstanding restaurant that offers an unforgettable dining experience that I will remember for a long time to come!

Amazing experience, the food was great, definitely recommend the great tasting menu, the wine pairing was very good, also including local wines from tenerife and gran canaria. The service was great though would have loved a bit more information about the local wines ( where on the island) ( but that is really nitpicking!)

Beautiful meal in beautiful surroundings. Bit of a foodie, and couldn't find a fault. Canapes were especially extraordinary. Staff were professional and non intrusive. Every plate had a bit magic. Would revisit. If I had one criticism it would have been nice to get something a little extra as it was a special birthday. Also would be nice to get a taster menu card as a memento, with a list of the wines we had to match. And maybe meet the head chef? Have had this at other Michelin star restaurants.
Dawn Fozard — Google review
Los Guayres is a lovely restaurant that served a very focussed menu with puristic tendencies that took a bit to get accustomed to. Personally I prefer bold flavours and creative new combinations so my first impression was a bit muted. Chef Álvarez started us off with a magnificent shrimp, maybe the best I ever ate in terms of pure product quality. But the corn-creme was just that. The baby-leek the same. Just the pure flavour, nothing added, no flair, nothing fancy. As the menu progresed, more and more spices and more intense flavours were added though. And as I adjusted to the idea behind the menu I have to admit I got to respect the thought that went into the composition of the menu as a whole. Where many other menus are just single, self-contained dishes this was a thought-through sequence with each menu building on each other. Even the flavours in the amuse bouche made sense in retrospect, foreshadowing flavours and ideas of the later menu. I think I have rarely experienced an entire evening of dishes that were so well composed. One lowpoint has to be noted: the marinated tuna Was overpowered by the added flavour that tasted too much like a herb mix from the average kitchen. Here I wished for a puristic handling of the beautiful fish. However the local cherne (another fish) was impecable and the accompanying beetroot reduction was marvelous. The goat was a triumph of full bodied flavours and the suckling pig with pineapple a succulent marvel. An elegant and wonderfully simple desert of orange and vanilla closed off the menu beautifully. Or would have because there was another, quite heavy composition of basil icecream and cactus-fig-mousse after that that was simply a bit much this far down the road. Overall a very intellectual menu with some great choices although not right down my alley. Big respect. I must also commend the attentive, well schooled and just friendly staff and the beautiful balcony we were seated on, overlooking an artificial little pond and garden of the hotel. It's very nice to enjoy a meal like this outside at sunset. Two notes: We don't drink alcohol and the restaurant was not equipped to offer much in terms of drinks where many others have complete alternative pairings ready to go. The restaurant does not allow to add a tip to the check paid by card. So unless you have cash on hand the staff may go unrewarded. Not a timely policy.

When service, wine and food reach a higher level it's what we experienced here. From the moment we came through the door, all servings, the friendly staff was all there to make us have the best night and we did. Prices are fair compared to similar places. The large menu requires big hunger and we barely managed to eat everything. A place my wife and I will visit again.

Restaurant
Restaurante Casa Romántica Agaete is a charming restaurant located in the Agaete Valley, offering a delightful dining experience. The establishment prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients, including bread from Ingenio, olive oil from Telde, and salt from Salinas de Bocacangrejo. After undergoing extensive refurbishment, the restaurant has reopened with a new menu that sets it apart from typical offerings in the area.
We visited this lovely restaurant twice during our stay in the area in April. The personnel is very friendly and welcoming and the dishes served are not only a treat for the eye but they are really delicious as well. The second time we visited, one of us took the "menue degustacion" which is a variety of small dishes served one by one, allowing one to taste a broad selection of what this restaurant has to offer. This is really fine dining in Agaete, we will visit again when on Gran Canaria again.

An unexpected but great find in the mountains above Agaete. We planned on just getting something small for lunch but ended up eating a three course menu. The food was just so good. The terrace is simple but nice and service is very friendly. All the food was very good with many dishes from the canary islands. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally with many coming from the valley the restaurant lies in. For the quality of the food prices are very adequate. If we ever come back to Gran Canaria we will definitely visit again.

The is the restaurant that has best view, quality of service and taste of foods. My husband and I are foodies so we keep trying Michelin restaurants and high-google-rated restaurants at tourist destinations. We have to say, it is one of the best! Don’t miss it when visiting Gran Canaria. The view of the valley is amazing too.

Everything is perfect there. It is at the extremely beautiful place with the view to mountains. We took tasting menu. Most of the dishes were very flavourful and had interesting taste combination. The service was attentive. The only downside is that they didn't speak good English. You need to reserve a slot to go there. It is nice to combine the visit with seeing coffee plantation, that belongs to the same family

A fabulous meal! I am lucky enough to have enjoyed many tasting menus and wine pairings and this was top notch. Taking price into consideration it was spectacular. We had a fantastic 3 hour lunch with the whole menu plus pairing. The food was lovely. I particularly enjoyed the croquettes, the pickled tomato dish, and the coffee and chocolate dessert. Pairings were great with a nice pour. And service was excellent! Absolutely one of the high points of my Gran Canaria trip and a must visit when on the island.

At Restaurante Grill Cueva Pirata in Gran Canaria, customers can enjoy a variety of steaks and barbecues cooked to perfection. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of Spanish dishes, all perfectly balanced with spices. Whether dining with family or friends, the menu is perfect for children as well.

So we’ve literally tested more or less all restaurants nearby, feeling that not a single one could deliver. We’re so sad that we’ve just found this spot one our finals days at Gran Canaria. This is literally the best meat restaurant ever. You shouldn’t try anything else. You will be so disappointed and you will as we, regret that you didn’t go here first. Will we come back? Of course. Last day tomorrow and we wouldn’t miss such good food again. Too bad that they don’t do breakfast and lunch as well 😂🙏🏻 so yes I highly recommend anyone and everyone to enjoy this awesome restaurant and beyond perfect service.

Great ambiance in the restaurant. Super-helpful staff. Great food. I had a steak that was a tad underdone, but the waiter took it back and when it came back it was perfect. Beatifully tender and juicy. The desserts were rich with large portions, almost too much but so delicious we had to finish them. Great wine suggestion also. Would definately recommend.

We loved the experience the first time and then booked a table for another day straight away. The restaurants dog outside is the cutest ever. I could've played with him for ages. More importantly: The food was freshly made on the bbq and tasted amazing. The staff was super nice, also very friendly to our 1 year old. Recommend this place 100% BUT be aware that your clothes might smell a little cause of the Bbq.

Super place for dinner if you’re anywhere in the vicinity! We went there twice in a week. The team are professional and personable and the whole place has a contemporary vibe that oozes with class and quality. If you’re lucky enough to meet the owner, you can find out about how his grandfather carved out the original Pirate Caves in the 1970s! The underground bar part is currently closed (and has been for some years) but the toilets are down there and worth checking - you can see the individual drill markings that make up this labour of love. What stands above the caves is an excellent restaurant, where the meats (and breads) are cooked over coals taken from a large open fire, the dishes are presented in a contemporary but not fussy way and the wine selection is perfect. You also have views over the bay from up here! This visit, we shared a goat’s cheese salad (full flavoured, vibrant with cheeky sweet accents) and I had the Tenderloin (absolutely charming piece of meat, cooked to a perfect medium rare, all smoky and caramelised with a good oozing cushion of blood…) which came with a cheeky coleslaw and some of the finest Canarian potatoes I’ve had. We had a selection of the traditional red and a vibrant, garlicky green sauces - both gorgeous. The house red was a Ribera del Duero Tempranillo, made with minimal intervention and biodynamic approaches, called AVANOAK It was excellent, we ended up having more than a bottle…

Bar
Bar El Boya, located in El Pajar in Arguineguin, offers delicious and affordable fish dishes. Despite its proximity to a large cement factory, the restaurant's location on a pebble beach adds to its unique charm. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, with dinner available only on Friday and Saturday nights until 23:30, it's a popular spot among locals for its generous portions of seafood at reasonable prices.
By far the best seafood on this side of the island. Really simple local fare without much fuss, and definitely the best "canarian mono sauce" we had on the island (both the orange and the green). Could definitely recommend the grilled calamari, fried octopus, fish cubes, grandmother bread, and the fried baby squids.
Ronak Ganatra — Google review
Best for quality vs price. The bar is in a great location, just right in front of the beach and far enough from the most beaten paths of puerto rico e puerto de mogan. The prices are very generous and the sizes of the portions just appropriate. We ate better here than in many other places, especially looking at how much we spent

The food is excellent - it really is a local place. The paella was the best I ever had. The ambience was a bit noisy and the view is towards the factory. But if you enjoy local easygoing and relaxed moments, its definitelly a place for you, we had a lovely time and will come back

Good food at affordable prices. We had quite a few dishes chocos and fish tacitos were particularly lovely. Minus one star because you don't get a bill when you leave they just tell you the price. So it's a bit strange and I think we were overcharged but didn't have the opportunity to look for ourselves.

Great selection of real Spanish/Canarian Tapas. Frequented by many locals, has been going for 70+ years, so they are definitely doing something right. Extremely busy, but the waiters seem to always be able to find a table and service is really quick and attentive. Not in a touristy area so a little walking involved, but you get to see real Spanish day to day life. Brilliant food!

Interesting experience shell we say… the other restaurant that we’d been recommended was open on Google but closed in actuality… So we ended up here, 2nd choice…You wait in the waiting area and push a bell in theory the waiter comes to collect you… there must’ve been three couples six people in the queue waiting perhaps bell was broken, finally the waiter came after seeing que and said why we hadn’t pushed bell… Great first impression…, then we were seated the restaurant was a third full thankfully we were seated by a waiters station as there appeared to be one taking the orders the other two were clearing tables and serving… so were able to get his attention fairly easily… The menu was quite strange although in multiple languages it was a photographic menu on paper like a tourist menu in particular Asian resorts… Anyway the food wasn’t too bad brought out in different times on sml plates tapas style… I had a local wine which was very nice the only couple of negative things / to point out that one of the fish dishes was frozen cod waiter mentioned and I being from New Zealand had ordered the mussels which were green lipped from New Zealand ( frozen ) not realising when I ordered… so I would say possibly a third of the menu was frozen and certainly not fresh as expected…. Anyway not a bird evening/ experience we suppose depending what u order…
