Rotunda St. John Baptist Church

Mentioned on
Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Basilica Rotunda St. John Baptist Church, a well-known Catholic church established in 1678, boasts impressive stone architecture and sculpture. Its revered rotunda, paintings, and marble floors are noteworthy attractions. Visitors can take a lift to the roof for a complete view of the island including Comino and Malta at a cost of 3 euros. Climbing to the bells is also an option but not recommended when they are ringing due to its deafening impact.
This church is great place. It is not shown on tourist maps we found it by accident. There is some contribution fee of 3 € for elevator to rooftop terrace where you have panoramic view of the whole Gozo island.
Peter Lamper — Google review
The first time we went here, there was a funeral procession, so we were not allowed to enter. We decided to visit again and the 2nd try was well worth it. Please be sure to take the elevator to the roof - the views are amazing. Architecture delightful inside and out. It was decorated for the holidays so was extra beautiful. Has a small museum in the back area, pretty interesting artifacts!
Theresa St. John — Google review
Nice church. If you want to get look, check the times of service because you can't wander during services. For 3 euros you can take a lift to the clocktower, but be weary only if you don't have a fear lf heights. Great experience
Michael M — Google review
Definitely a must visit church if on Gozo (Xewkija) The church it's an impressive building in the village. The church is actually free. Upon donation of EUR 3 it is allowed to go upstairs on the tower and enjoy the view. Also a toilet is available upstairs.
Carl Andrea — Google review
An amazing place to visit, 3rd largest dome in the world ,very historical and well looked after. One of the stops on the bus your route or use public buses to get to the town. We went up the elevator for 3 euro each person but was worth it as the views were stunning at the top
Matthew Parker — Google review
Amazing stone architecture and sculpture. One thing not to miss is the lift to the roof which offers a compleat view of the island I causing comino and malta. Price for the lift is 3 euro. You can also climb to the bells. Don’t do it when the are ringing them or you will not hear much for a long time.
george saguna — Google review
The church is very well maintained and worth a visit! You van go up to the roof for only a €3 donation. Marvelous view of both Malta and Gozo.
Kristie Micallef — Google review
The church is cool, but much more impressive from a distance. For 3 Euros there is an elevator that takes you to the top where you can also walk around outside. Again, just a little disappointing. The space is not as open as we hoped and there are lots of high walls where you can’t see out at all. When we came to the church there was someone playing an organ. It was nice to have the music playing as we walked around. It added to the atmosphere, although did seem a bit spooky 👻
Ted Eckman — Google review
This place is amazing! The sheer magnitude of this structure and the presence one can feel from a distance. It's beautiful and definitely a must see when you make it to Gozo!
Stephan van Graan — Google review
It's unbelievable how large this church is and how grandesque and magnificent from the inside when you go in. It's free to enter and go up the stairs for a panoramic view of the whole area around it. However you can pay €3 if you want to take the elevator up the dome. You can sit inside quietly and enjoy the architecture and the paintings and sculptures. You will definitely be impressed by its beauty and size.
Konstantinos Lyketsos — Google review
An amazing church well worth a visit if you’re in Gozo. Only €3 to go up to the bell tower which has amazing views, as attached below. The old lady we encountered at the beginning was lovely. The spiral stairs up to the top is a bit of a workout but well worth it if you can, we went on a windy day and it was exhilarating!
Josh Mahon — Google review
Crazy good looking church. Pictures do not give its size justice. Its overwhelming to look at. Sadly when I went it was closed, and the back had construction on it, but the front made it worth the short visit.

It-Tempji tal-Ġgantija

Mentioned on
Archaeological site
Sights & Landmarks
Ġgantija is an archaeological site located in Xaghra, Gozo that features two well-preserved limestone neolithic temples believed to be among the oldest monuments in the world. The name Ġgantija, which means "giantess", reflects the size of the temples as they stand over 6m tall and span over 40m.
The earliest temples known to mankind! These were built 5000 years ago and the population disappeared at 2,500 bce until another population appeared in the bronze age and they used these temples as a house. I felt so happy for visiting a monument older than the pyramids! It is well preserved and a small museum before seeing the real monument turned out to be pretty educative
Globetrot With Mikalys — Google review
Was a nice place to visit whole visiting Gozo. We walked there from the ferry which was no mean feat! The museum was interesting, I particularly like the sculptures of the women. Actually walking through the temples was a bit underwhelming but then my partner loved it and she's the one that's really into that stuff.
Trev Flash — Google review
Very interesting and historically significant place. This attraction is in 2 parts, as you enter you find a museum with relics and information about the temple throughout history and the people who inhabited it. After you have been through a number of museum rooms you head outside and around the natural gardens until you find the monumental temples overlooking from the hillside. You can walk around both temples reading the information on the boards. A really nice day out. Entry is €10 and also gives entry to the historic windmill which is 2 minutes walk away.
Robert Mc — Google review
Very cool to see some prehistoric ruins on Malta! The musuem was excellent with the perfect amount of info to prepare for seeing the ruins! Lots of reading (English translation available), so the kids might get bored. They have worksheets which worked to keep our 8 year olds busy!
K Keen — Google review
One of the awe inspiring places on earth that you can visit. Doesn't take very long, not too difficult to get there but when you do, you'll realize how remarkable it is. Over 5,000 years old and still parts of it standing, just rocks. Incredible!!
George Typaldos — Google review
Wonderfully historic sight to see! The museum was very Informative and had many artifacts to see and even touch! The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s unreal to think these temples are some of the oldest still standing - unfortunately, but of course, they’ve collapsed a bit, but are still a wonder to see for yourself! Would highly recommend if you’re interested in history and in Gozo :)
Themis Thomassin — Google review
We love looking at ruins and I had heard about this place so I wanted to see it. Overall it wasn’t that impressive and had I known, I would have skipped it. Mainly rock walls in poor condition. Some are supported with a scaffolding so you can’t even see the wall. There isn’t really any shaded places and you spend a lot of time walking around in the hot sun. Entry was 10 Euros, which also seemed a bit expensive for the price experience.
Ted Eckman — Google review
This Archaeological site is accessible through visiting the Musem. We've visited it as a group by paying €10 per person (Adult). It's amazing to know that they are able to maintain this structure.
Star Waspi — Google review
Interesting place to visit. It took us an hour to go through the museum and the ruins. Impressive to realise those stones have been standing there for more than 5000 years.
Axel Poyet — Google review
You must have heard of the Stonehenge. Well, this site, next to the island's beautiful beaches, is older than those "stones" in Great Britain. Walking next to what once was a religious temple more than 4,000 year ago is not only a must tourist wise, but also one to realize and remind ourselves that, a long time before us, people were already taking care of the planet and their trascendental search and, because of them, we are here today
Eliel Stofenmacher — Google review
I read a lot about the historic significance of these ruins and it was truly astonishing! There is a small museum before seeing the ruins which was super cute. Highly recommend if you're into history and museums!!!
Spanish with Karen — Google review
If you love historical sites and ruins this is great to visit. You can actually go inside the ruins that are thousands of years old and still better standing than some much more recent ruins you can see in Greece or Italy. The museum is not great but it still gives you bits of information that are useful to have while visiting the site. Now of course if you prefer beautiful renaissance-style churches and are looking to see great architecture it is not the place for you, but if you want to see a still standing structure from the Neolithics it is incredible
Sophie Proust — Google review
I read some of the bad reviews on here so I was a little apprehensive about visiting. I was so amazed at this place. It is jaw dropping. A beautiful piece of antiquity. I would recommend getting the Malta heritage pass, makes more sense to do it that way - also saves you money.
Tessa Ellwood — Google review
Fascinating museum and site, but there were a looooot of tiny flies outside (we had to walk through clouds of them) which made it harder to enjoy ourselves. There's a great gift shop. We took a Bolt from the ferry terminal because it was a bit tricky to get to by bus.
Zanna Kellett — Google review
If you visit Gozo you need visit this temple, its one of oldest temple in the history. Really worth to visit. This is the one of UNESCO world heritage site in Gozo island.
Roshan Pethigala — Google review
Very beautiful location with such interesting history. Of course the site speaks for itself. The interpretation centre was informative, there was also a kids playroom, good and accessible bathrooms. The giftshop contained all the same souvenirs as the other Heritage Malta sites. Recommend visiting, a gorgeous place!
Gabi Gik — Google review
The site was a bit small and the stones were not preserved as nicely as I thought. Also since I’ve been to some other temple sites before, this was kind of similar to all the others (Ofc each site themselves are very different). But since I need to go all the way to Gozo for this I had higher expectations. Still it was interesting visit and I had a nice time.
AA — Google review
Unmissable. This is one of the oldest free standing buildings. It’s a must see when in Gozo. Plan on at least an hour here. The site is relatively small but there’s a museum with a fair bit of background information.
Ian Warner — Google review
Asked for a wheelchair which was promptly provided. Great as I can’t walk very far. The site claims to be wheelchair friendly but around the actual ruins the terrain becomes very rough. I don’t see someone completely wheelchair bound getting through this hurdle. Very interesting site though.
Siebe Wynberg — Google review
Old Temple ruins are kind of nice because it is historic, however, a little bit disappointed. The park is very small, and they have only the temple. In the Netflix documentary about this sight, the ruins and the park look much bigger. Still, it was worth the boat ride from Malta to here, because it is a beautiful ride.

Wineries & Vineyards
There are various vineyards to choose from, but Tal Massar Winery is highly recommended for a tour and tasting. Despite being a small vineyard, they produce exquisite wines. The owners of the vineyard, who are a married couple, welcome visitors and share their passion for their vineyard. Visitors can learn about the grape varieties grown and the challenging climate of Gozo which makes growing seasons harder.
It was an amazing experience. Thank you for the visit and the wine tasting. Anthony is a passionate winemaker with a real love for the land. He shared a lot about his experience of winemaking in Gozo and the history of their winery. The wonderful landscape they have translates into their delicious wines.
Sandra Issa — Google review
Had a lovely wine tasting experience. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about wine and talk you through tasting 5 of their wines. The tasting also comes with a very generous cheese and meat plate and they offer pairing suggestions. Amazing experience in a beautiful setting and some of the most unique wines I’ve ever had. Would recommend to anyone visiting Gozo.
Katheryn Green — Google review
Wonderful experience from start to finish, a vineyard and wine tasting organised by a very dedicated family. Thanks to Anthony (and wife for preparing the food) for giving us an insightful and tasteful understanding of local wine and what to pair it with 😄
Martina Darmanin — Google review
We wandered into their vineyard around closing time, and we didn’t know you had to have a reservation, but they accommodated us anyhow. They provided the whole tasting experience with wine and food. The family are lovely and their wine is just delightful. 10/10 would recommend.
Liz Weaver — Google review
Last Saturday, we visited Tal-Massar Winery together with seven friends from Belgium. Anthony and Marisa were wonderful hosts that immediately made us feel comfortable at their beautiful place. After a very concise and interesting talk by Anthony in the vineyard, we tasted a variety of their wines, accompanied by again a very precise and enlightening explanation by Anthony. We would recommend everyone to go there, to enjoy the hospitality, the scenery of the vineyard and its surroundings, and the very tasty wines.
Brent Geerts — Google review
My wife and I visited the Tal Massar winery in Gozo for a wine tasting experience. Our hosts Marisa and Anthony were welcoming and made us feel at home amid the beautiful surroundings of their vineyards. The excellent wines and the discussions of terroir and the climate with the backdrop of the sun setting over the Mediterranean was memorable. Would love to go back for another visit. Keep up the excellent work!
Arvind A — Google review
What a wonderful experience in wine creation, vineyard maintenance, and the history of Gozo and Malta. Anthony was a most intelligent and knowledgeable guide through the two hour tasting. I, and my companions, appreciated the care that he took to answer questions, the pairings of local foods, and showing inexperienced tasters how to fully taste the wine. This really needs to be on your must do when in Gozo list. Price was €30 for tasting of four wines, snacks, and said drinking of the rest of the bottles. Loved it, you need to book your spot. Thank you Anthony!!

5 🌟..💯% what a lovely evening to find out some wine history 🍷and of course delicious wine tasting very generous amount off vine our best was the white and the port yes we did buy some to take home .so we can do it all again 👍thanks Anthony and his wife👍👍
Matthew Brooks — Google review
First off, let me start by saying before this tasting I’ve never had a wine i’ve liked even remotely. I just assumed I didn’t like wine because its way too sour and acidic for me. What I learned was I’ve never tasted good wine before, and man, Anthony produces some amazing wine. Even my friends who do drink wine, said it was by far the best they ever had. This was an eye opening experience and I learned a lot about wine! I actually do like it and I even have a nose for it. Anthony is a genuinely amazing guy. He is super knowledgable and is an expert at what he does. I felt like I was being taught by a wine wizard! What made the experience even better was all of the food and cheeses he carefully selected to pair with each wine, which took his already amazing product and transformed it into new dimensions. The best part of all? Anthony was an amazing host! I didn’t expect a wine tasting to be so much fun. He was super nice, funny, and easy to talk to. It felt like we were already friends as soon as we met, and that goes a long way to elevate the experience even further. I couldn’t have been happier!
PearseXI — Google review
Vineyard owners (husband and wife) were welcoming and highly inspired by their own vineyard; learn about the types of grape grown and the harsh climate of Gozo which makes for harder growing seasons. Taste 3 bottles of wine (1 bottle of each per couple), how to view / smell / taste (kiss) wine, with small food board food pairings. Able to take 1 bottle away with you (so make the most of enjoying the wine before you leave). Reasonable price for a passionate vineyard owner and different experience whilst in Malta / Gozo.

Ramla Beach is a must-visit destination for those seeking a relaxing day at the beach. With its reddish-sand shoreline and stunning views of Calypso Cave, it offers an idyllic setting to bask in the sun and enjoy crystal clear waters. The remains of a Roman villa add to the historical significance of this location. For those looking to explore beyond Gozo's shores, sailing trips offer an unforgettable experience with opportunities for swimming and snorkeling along the way.
Good spot to lay in the sun. Large beach and small shops to have a snack, drink or ice-cream

Nice sandy beach! It's wide, and there weren't many people. Must visit Some hiking trails in the area too (and some caves up the hillside, will get good photos ) . There was a snack bar area. parking available, and it seems like sightseeing buses stop by regularly. Best beach in Gozo and possibly the Malta island's. Nice views and a beautiful beach. Clear water even with all the people. Clean beach. Good for swimming. Changing facilities and toilets are available, which were clean.
Soumya soumya l bh — Google review
The beautiful beach is suitable for basking in the sun. The fly in the ointment is that there are too many stones in the water, so you need to wear shoes to swim. It is very convenient to have a toilet here
Manolo Silva — Google review
It is ok, but not spectacular. We liked better the ones close to Golden Bay on the main island. It has sand but also pebbles, as you can see in the picture. There is a bar. There is also parking so it is very accessible. But I guess during the season it is quite packed.
Jaume Ávila Estivill — Google review
Adorable beach with lots of room. Unique sand color. Beware of the jellyfish.

Nice sandy beach! It's wide, and there weren't many people when I visited (March). There are newer restrooms that were mostly clean. Some hiking trails in the area too (and some caves up the hillside). I saw some people camping, but not sure if it's allowed. There was a snack bar area, but it was closed at the time of my visit. A good amount of parking available, and it seems like sightseeing buses stop by regularly. The only bad thing is there was some water that collects (maybe isn't very clean), but luckily some people put rocks as a walking path through it. Definitely worth a visit.

The most beautiful beach I've seen. Few people and a lot of nature. Good accessibility😀.

Very special beach. Loved it
mara260766 — Google review
I used to think that this beach was useless because of the huge amount of rocks and stones on the sand. However, lately I discovered that there is actually a small patch which is relatively free from rocks and quiet nice and sandy.
Joe Farrugia — Google review
Ramla meaning sand in arabic, it is a beautiful golden sandy/rocky beach where you cannot find sunbeds and umbrellas. There is also a beach bar, near and toilets, enough parking space but I guess is very crowded during summer. Kids had a lot of fun playing in the sand, the water was very cold tho and it was also very windy !
Vassy T?nde — Google review
Visiting ir-Ramla beach offers an excellent opportunity to relax, enjoy the turquoise water, and experience the natural beauty of Gozo. It is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike! The beach is renowned for its expansive golden sand. The sand is soft and fine, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing, playing (e. g. for beach volleyball) , and unwinding. It is truly a paradise for beach enthusiasts! The surroundings are characterized by gentle hills and fertile fields, providing an idyllic backdrop. The crystal-clear turquoise water invites swimming, snorkeling, and splashing around. After sunbathing, you can visit the nearby cafes and restaurants to indulge in refreshing drinks and delicious Snacks. At the beach, there are facilities such as sun loungers and umbrellas available for rent (I paid €5 for one hour at the end of April)🏖️, as well as public toilets that can be used for free. I wholeheartedly and warmly recommend this beautiful sandy beach! 🤩
VATER DES KAISERS — Google review
Nice clean beach but water was full of big stones so nearly impossible to get into on the windy day we were there. Would not really recommend! The Tal-Mixta Cave nearby is worth a look though, a great view of the bay from a really cool cave!
GD — Google review
We walked to Ramla Bay from Nadur, Gozo, on a perfect day in late December. The views along the way were beautiful. Because I'd never seen a red sand beach before, I was really moved. It was easy to understand why it is rated one of the top beaches on the island. I'd love to go back in warmer weather, when the restaurants are open there and swimming would be a must for me. Next time, for sure!!
Theresa St. John — Google review
A very beautiful beach, not very big but which has a lot of charm. ❤️ The sea is delicious, 🏊‍♀️ the landscape superb. 🤩 During the season, naturally, there are a lot of people, but you always find a place to put your towel. 👙⛱️ There’re several water activities and beach bars. A beach not to be missed when you come to the island of Gozo! 😉
Emma Alex — Google review
Loved it. This beach is not so crowded as the Blue Lagoon, the water is extremely clear, and the red sand is really cool.
Hunter Odri — Google review
Really average beach that doesn't deserve the hype. There's nothing special about it, yeah, the orange sand and that is fairly wide, other than that I didn't find it impressive. On a more positive note I was gladly surprised to see that they care for its cleanliness and maintenance.
Jess Glez — Google review
Lovely Sandy beach but it’s a bit rocky initially for 100metres. But once waddled through, it’s a delightful sandy shallow beach. The timing for this beach is important as it can get slummed with people. But we enjoyed our visit here even though one can’t see the sunset here
Emily Robinson — Google review
The only natural beach on Gozo - therefore the red sand. The place is packed with tourists, parking is tricky and the sand sticks a lot ... But lovely water - children friendly shallow and the grown ups can go further out to get the depth. A fascinating view of the "mystery cave" to the east invites to a trip there (photo of the cave included).
Thomas Augustinus — Google review
I liked this place very much. The water and the sand was relatively clean, in April there was hot enough to sunbathe and there weren’t too big crowd. You can get here by hop on/hop off bus.

Bażilika Tal-Madonna Ta' Pinu Mill Gharb

Mentioned on
Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu is a Roman Catholic religious site with Neo-Romantic architecture that offers stunning sea views. Its origins are based on an alleged vision of the Madonna by a peasant girl, which resulted in numerous cures and financial gain for the basilica. The building itself boasts plain yet beautiful design adorned with carvings and mosaic pictures worth viewing.
Very imposing structure! Nice architecture! The visit is worth it if you like monuments and architecture in general! Also perfect for memorable photos! A bit secluded, but there is a bus station right in front of it so it's not hard to reach it!
Elena Popovici — Google review
How do you rate a place as an atheist when it's entire reason for existing is yet another vision of the Madonna by a peasant girl? It's earned a huge amount of money on the basis of this alleged vision and cures etc granted to those who prayed appropriately. There's a somewhat sad, even worrying exhibition of this. The building is nice, plain and adorned with carvings and mosaic pictures that are worth seeing. There's a big open area in front of the church featuring mosaics too. All in the middle of nowhere because a girl said she had a vision.
John Dersley — Google review
In my opinion probably the best church to see in Malta. It’s very large and impressive and peaceful due to its isolation. Also free to enter! Note you need upper arms and knees or lower covered.
Seb May — Google review
A stunning Basilica in such a beautiful quiet area, the background and history is very interesting as it’s a place of miraculous healings. There are letters and pictures all over the walls from people who have been healed after coming to pray so I would definitely recommend saying a little prayer before you leave.
Ben Morris — Google review
This place is really incredible and so Holly, beautiful and with so much spirit in it : you can feel the strength of the amazing and marvellous spirit and the powerful of Jesus. You can follow The stories of The Saints and a lot of pictures show the healing and the big miracles that happen even today to people that come to pray, and it’s through the prayers and through the Faith in Jesus that those people prayed. It’s an original place very unique very special and very visites : I recommend to visit it !!!
Michael Montero — Google review
Miraculous place of a great miracle. Praised be God and Mary, His greatest servant. The mosaics in front of the Church were the most beautiful depiction of the Lifes of Mary and Jesus I have ever seen. And the depictions of Mary on the way... Oh Holy Mother of God, pray for us!
Wojciech Mrowicki — Google review
To me a special sanctuary. So many miracles have been witnessed here and the place just holds an aura of spirituality. The entrance and the whole story of the walk up the hill on the way of the cross have been very tastefully upgraded and more to come. I am sad that our nation is slowly losing its faith to materialism and seem like Sagan is winning the war of minds and hearts.
Jonathan Bianco — Google review
The most beautiful church on Gozo. Nice view point on the landscape. No entrance fee as there is for touristic churches on Malta. In front of the church are local farmers so you can buy their cheese, olives or sun dried tomatos.
Mihaela Mesari? — Google review
A peaceful place of reflection and tranquility. A must see. Opposite there is a little hiking opportunity: the ways of the cross. Wear sensible shoes for the hike. You cannot enter the basilica in flip flops, very short shorts or bare shoulders.
Bristol Reviews — Google review
It is a beautiful church in the middle of nowhere. The mosaics on the semicircular walls in the forecourt of the church that represent the life of Christ are in poor taste. Also, the last two depictions of Christ, the one burying his mother holding a baby and the next one wearing a wedding ring to a woman really made me wonder. I am not religious nor do I have a particular knowledge of the Gospels, but I have never seen such representations of Christ in another church.
Orestis - — Google review
This Basicalica is lovely, they say if you come in here and make a pray, your prays get answers. The church is beautifully designed inside and out, it is in Gozo. There's plenty of parking available outside. I highly recommend visiting this lovely church.
Hasnain Nurdin (HAS) — Google review
Considering I read it’s the most famous church on Gozo, I don’t think it’s super amazing. It was nice to visit, it’s beautiful… but not something to blow my mind as I expected. I think others in Malta are more ornate. Our visit was very fast, there were few people, entrance is free… we just walked inside a bit and left. They have things to cover yourself in case you’re not “dressed properly”.
Alexandra Pera — Google review
There was an event when I arrived, simply stayed at the front gate and checked the decoration. It is certainly prettier seeing the church from any high ground nearby.
S.R. Wen — Google review
There are some beautiful views around the church. One of the most interesting things my I found was the countless letters and dedications from people who have prayed to the Madonna.

Beautiful church. Other than enything that I have ever seen. The entrance is for free. The courtyard in front of the church is also worth to see. There is a gift shop inside. Huge parking on the other side of the road in front of the church.

The Bazilika is loved by both locals and tourists alike. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle surrounded by various fields in the gozitan village of Gharb.

Well worth the journey only a short bus ride for great mosaics and a beautiful church
David Jackson — Google review
An astonishing church, in a remote edge of Gozo. Beautiful and quietly awe inspiring. It exudes a sense of peace and calm. The church is a quietly modern understated take on classic Catholic architecture, with specific Maltese influences. It is simultaneously both ornately beautiful, with a minimalist palette. It has none of the usual gaudy gilt dripped ostentatious decoration of usual Catholic churches. A place worthy of a day pilgrimage in a remote corner of Malta.
Darrin Morgan — Google review
As 20th century churches go it's quite pretty, and its location in the middle of the countryside is striking. But it can't hold a candle to the stunning St George's Basilica in Victoria or the spectacular views from the top of the Rotunda in Xewkija if, like me, you're interested in the architecture and art rather than its religious significance.

Country Terrace is a restaurant located in Gozo, Mgarr, and it serves Mediterranean food. It has outdoor seating and parking available. The restaurant accepts American Express, Mastercard, and Visa. There is also a full bar available.
If only I could I would give it more than 5 stars. The most amazing food I had in years. It was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is also positioned to look over the harbour and has amazing views. The owner and his whole team was incredibly welcoming. Was there as part of a work delegation meeting the Travel council from Gozo and they took us to this restaurant. It is worth going to Malta and visiting Gozo even if just to eat at this restaurant, you won't regret it !! Highly, highly recommend!!!

This restaurant is quite elegant and the terrace has a great view. The "spaghetti con i ricci" were incredibly good, as well as the raw fish. We informed we had only 1h30 minutes for the dinner and the service was incredibly fast. We spent about 35€ each. Dinner was great.

Our lunch was absolutely delicious, starting from fresh bread with olive oil, mini bruschettas, perfectly prepared steaks to our taste and garnish. Thank you chef 🙏🏼 At the time we arrived at the restaurant every table was busy, but the staff did a great job, were very friendly and helpful. Thank you we will be coming back again to taste more meals, enjoy a perfect view and be served with a smile and respect. 👍5*

Recommended to us for a romantic special birthday celebration. The most obvious appeal is the location, with fantastic vista over Mgarr, Comino and Malta. Unfortunately we arrived on an evening with high wind, meaning the terrace was covered for the comfort of the diners. This did not detract from the food, service or atmosphere, which were all excellent. We enjoyed three courses, plus complimentary pre-starters. The fillet beef was cooked to perfection (medium-rare), paired with a Scicillion red. The oysters for starter, and our deserts, were also excellent. They also made a fuss of the birthday boy. Prices were reasonable. And we enjoyed speaking with the owner who was knowledgeable.

We decided to cross to Gozo for my birthday. Once again we visited this restaurant. Yet again it passed with flying colours. The food was delicious and the service and attentiveness was impeccable. Spectacular views overlooking Mgarr Harbour. The food was highly enjoyable and portions were generous. The only room for improvement is the cutlery and crockery were quite dirty and some had to be returned. The restaurant gets full quickly so be sure to book in advance.

Just had a lovely dinner here. The manager and the staff were all so accommodating and the service was top notch! I don't think I have had a service as welcoming as this place in the UK let alone Malta and Gozo! Unfortunately I am not much of a drinker otherwise I'd have sample the many wine listings that they had to offer. The food was exquisite with a blend of class and at affordable prices. My personal recommendation would be the duck dish served with a medley of vegetables. My deepest gratitude for looking after us and serving us such gorgeous food! A solid and well deserved 5/5.

Totally awesome place with beautiful mediterrean atmospehere. Fine dining restaurant with great selection of vines and very reasonable prices. Suitable for vegans as well. Although vegan dish is not on the regular menu, they are able to prepare it on request. Beautiful experience ❤️

The food was all amazing with an incredible bar to supplement our evening. Service was superb and the atmosphere was really nice and relaxing. Parking was not a problem either as there was ample space along the side of the road.

This restaurant has an elegant view. From here you can overlook the port. Enjoy beautiful ocean views. It serves great food. Especially recommend the rack of lamb, served with a wonderful mint sauce. My ribeye was also really good. It was the flavor I was hoping for, and it was delicious with the mushroom sauce. The service was delightful and we sang happy birthday to a customer who had a birthday here. A wonderful evening. 🥰

One80 Kitchen is a harbourside restaurant located in the Mgarr Yacht Marina. It offers stunning views of the ferries and boats as well as the sea from its indoor and outdoor dining areas. The menu includes dishes such as soft shell crab sliders, traditional Gozitan focaccia, and more.
Absolutely the best restaurant On Gozo and one of the best meals I've had in Malta. Gorgeous view over the marina. Staff were brilliant light hearted and professional. As I have a nut allergy they were totally on point with it have a full allergen list and informed the kitchen. If you like fine dining this Is 100% for you.

We had such a wonderful experience at this fantastic restaurant. We booked a table of 6 for my sisters’ birthday lunch. The staff were extremely accommodating and the service was exceptional. They were also really friendly. The cocktails and coffees were amazing and the food was even better. I could not recommend this restaurant enough! We were seated outside and had lovely views of the water. I can’t wait to return one day. Thank you again for such a fabulous day!

Ate here after discovering One80 in Valletta. We're both vegan and wanted some lunch to keep us going when reaching Gozo. There are a handful of plant based options on the menu and all are high quality. The location is very convenient once you step off the ferry to Gozo and the view outside is serene. Please keep adding vegan options, we love trying delicious food when travelling!

There are some lovely views of the Mediterranean from the One80 restaurant. It’s an excellent Maltese restaurant that serve good seafood and other light bites. We ordered the fritto misto, pan fried smoked octopus, the beef slider and mushroom croquettes. Everything was delicious and was served to us quickly by friendly members of the staff. The highlights of our meal were the octopus and the beef slider. The beef slider was fantastic with the juicy piece of beef and soft, fluffy, bread. The octopus, which was deliciously smoked, savoury and tender, was our favourite. Great restaurant!

Great experience. This was the best restaurant we had in Malta. The personnel was caring and listening. The place is clean and nice, and the view on the port charming. We took the one80 plate as seen in with the photos, with some extra dishes it was just perfect. I recommend this restaurant if you want to have a nice diner experience. Price isn’t the cheapest, but remains accessible and worth it

Popped in on a flying visit to Gozo. This place is 1st class, we wanted seafood and they have some of the best and freshest. A platter for 2 of King prawns whitebait and calamari plus was amazing. They also bring you a paper bag with hot bread and tomatoes paste to die for, with the very best olive oil. This is one not to be missed.
Marc Johns — Google review
Lovely restaurant. Attentive and friendly staff. Food was quick and hot and reasonably priced for a high end fish restaurant. The highlight was the starters we think. The smoked octopus was incredible would definitely recommend

Food was great, we ordered grilled octopus, One80 Platter (shown in the picture) and ravioli. The atmosphere was fantastic for winter. They opened at 12h and the place got full in 45 minutes, luckily we were the first ones in. Staff was very attentive, specially Mercy, she took care of all our requests nicely and with a genuine smile. Thank you for the gourmet experience, we will repeat if we come back next holidays.

We came here for my mother’s birthday ! We had an excellent experience overall. I was just disappointed with my pasta ‘orecchiette octopus’. Sauce seemed to had minimal effort and wasn’t blended well to integrate with the orecchiette. Other than that I really loved the fresh gbejniet brought to us complementary at the start of our lunch. Then the small plates which we shared were excellent and full of flavor. See images below :). Overall I highly recommend, since it has a wonderful location and parking is generally not a problem. PS, avoid the orecchiette.

Really stunning food, presentation and service! The waiter went above and beyond after I had left bag in the restaurant and ran after us to return it to me! Such a lovely experience overall , and I would highly recommend 😁.
Christopher Moloney — Google review
The pros : location is very nice, directly on the marina of Mgarr. Food is excellent and very tasty, special mention to the pasta with rabbit ragu, the best we had on the island. Fish and meat were also excellent. The cons : we had opted for the sharing feast menu, and whilst food was excellent, it was long (over 2 1/2 hours). Lastly, parking in this area can be a bit tricky.
Olivier Bernard — Google review
Reserve for the restaurant ahead of time! We didn’t reserve so we ordered some food just in the bar. We could tell all the efforts this restaurant/ bar is putting in preparing food. They really show it in every details. We had calamari fritti and fish and chips, they are the best we have had! Cappuccino is also a lovely surprise. It made our day! Service is great! They are really nice and helpful.

Stunning food. Great plant based options with great service and attentive staff. I had a plant based eggplant Parmigiana which was superb and the dessert of the coconut delice was stunning The wine was delicious and locally sourced and there was a great view over the harbour from the outside terrace Would highly recommend

We had booked this as an end of day treat after our visit to Gozo. Our table was in the enclosed terrace which has lovely views over the marina. The service was attentive and helpful, and the food was excellent. Highly recommend the smoked octopus and the fish tartare. Also glad to see they had some non-alcoholic drinks on offer. We got really lucky with parking, but it can be busy considering the area, so recommend arriving a bit earlier than booked.
Kishen Gajjar — Google review
It was a fantastic experience for a special occasion. Although it was expensive, the food and service were exceptional, making it worthwhile. The local wine was reasonably priced, costing 7 euros less than half a glass. The view was breathtaking, and the staff was attentive to our table.

If you're looking for a restaurant with some of the most impressive seafood on offer in all of Malta, then Tmun is definitely worth a visit. With two Michelin stars to its name, this establishment is sure to impress even the most demanding palates. Not to mention, it's also one of the oldest restaurants in Mgarr Harbour - meaning that it's been around for 10 years and probably won't be going anywhere anytime soon!
Tmun is a “modest” restaurant, hidden in the harbour, which simply blew our minds. The waiters were super friendly and the food was quite tasty and innovative. The starters were fantastic, the main courses delicious, and the deserts f***ing incredible. No wonder why this restaurant was noticed by Michelin and should probably get very soon its, well deserved, first star !
Julia Rodriguez Nello — Google review
The food was delightful. It was a multi-course menu (we went for 9 courses) served one-by-one and everything was incredible. I sent many photos to friends showing how lovely it was. We had a bottle of wine with our meal, which was very tasty and well priced. It was served cooled to room temperature, which I appreciated. Service was, for the most part, attentive. Staff were quick to take plates away and bring fresh food so we weren’t waiting too long between dishes. I dropped a service star because we asked to move to a seat where both chairs could view the sea and were told it was booked, then five minutes later another couple were told they could choose that seat or another, whichever they preferred. Also there was a point where we seemed they seemed to forget about us for 20 minutes and didn’t clear away our plates (which they had done previously) between dishes. Lastly, they seemed like they wanted to take orders deliver the food quickly and quietly and get away from our table as fast as possible. They didn’t ask if we’d like the menu or any dishes explaining, just told us what the fish of the day was. For some this would be good because they were very much “not there” and not in your face. For me, I’d prefer the choice because I’d prefer to talk about the dishes, get some recommendations, etc. However, we had a complimentary pea tart to start, Amaretto and truffle to finish and both were beautiful. Atmosphere was good except I had my back to the sea and wasn’t allowed to move, there was no music, and we were right next to the door and everyone coming in and out. Most of the time I watched the staff serving food. Only these minor things could improve it but it was nice outside, the chairs were comfy, it was lively, and generally was quite nice. Overall it was fantastic and despite some possible improvements, the food was so good for such a reasonable price that I would rate it five stars overall and recommend to anyone.

Impressed by the innovative menu, great service, and mouth watering dishes. A quality dining experience. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They off a varied wine selection too.

Will never get tired of this place and its definitely one of the best restaurants in the Maltese islands, making it a must go if you're in Gozo. Pretty convenient location as its just a short walk from the ferry terminal. Service is great and the atmosphere is nice, being close to boathouses and the port. But the highlight is definitely the food. A relatively small yet very well thought selection of plates with fish and seafood as the main focus. If you're lucky enough to visit during Lampuki season, the 'Torched Lampuki' is a must try.

What a fabulous find on this small island! We were lucky as it was walking distance from our apartment. We look forward to returning! Thanks chef Buttigieg for your fabulous creations it was truly a splendid gourmet experience from start to finish! We had: Mushroom foam Scallop ceviche Foie gras /pork terrine Bbq octopus Asparagus with egg Lobster ravioli Asian calamari We also had pork belly & mango/passion fruit sorbet but forgot to take the photos. Bravo!

Unbelievable evening in Tmun! Jewel of Mgarr harbour. Service. Atmosphere. Everything. It was our engagement celebration the night we dined here. Patrick took extra special care of us. Paolo the chef made some mouth watering complex flavoured dishes that were Michelin grade. We will be back again this trip and every time we're back. It's a must this place. Pictures are of a Fish Duo plate - Hake, grilled calamari and prawn. Tuna steak with ndjuda spread on the side. 10/10 5 Star

It's a Michelin guided restaurant, but I think it deserves Michelin stars. This restaurant has by far the most delicious food I've had in Europe. We had the shared 9 plates from the menu, every course was sophisticated, well presented and every bit was so delicious, after each course we received new warm empty plate for the new course. The entire experience was so enjoyable. Even though the waiting in-between each course was a bit long, we did not mind too much because it was so enjoyable ( we sat down at 8 pm and finished the meal at 10 pm, there were a lot of other customers in the restaurant, so it is understandable that it takes time to prepare for the food).

An exquisite culinary experience every time we visit, Tmun is hands down the best restaurant in Gozo. Every dish is a culinary masterpiece, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and a creative flair. The result is an explosion of flavors and textures that leaves you craving for more. The staff members are always friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant is located in a quiet spot Mgarr near the sea and offers indoor as well as outdoor seating. If you are looking for a restaurant in Gozo that’s guaranteed to be an exceptional experience, make sure you visit Tmun.

This place I highly recommend, I live in Gozo for 3 years and have always heard good things. For sure it did not dissapoint, we shared a 7 plate sharing platter and we left with a real feeling of satisfaction, great service and great food. The plates were well presented and taste to match, the tortellini was amazing and deserves special mention as was the apple tart and ice cream for desert. I dont write so many reviews but these guys deserve a shout out and for sure I will come again.

Very nice service. Plates are very pleasant for the eyes but unfortunately just ok for the palate. Food was good but lacked of a kick and were not up for the price. With all those good Google reviews about this restaurant, I was expecting way much. Definitely not one of the best restaurant in the country.

This restaurant is located in Victoria, Gozo and specializes in Mediterranean cuisine. The food is carefully prepared and the wine selection is impressive. There are cooking classes available as well as wine-tasting sessions.
This is a real gem of a place. It is away from the main tourist centres. The atmosphere is great, simple music playing in the background so you can have a good conversation with your friends/partner. The food was stunning. Well cooked with simple ingredients bringing out the real taste of the products. Probably one of the best restaurants that I have been to. The service!! Second to none. The senior waitress (owner??) was attentive to our needs without even a word being spoken. Very friendly with good banter- suggest listening to their recommendations on food and drink. I really do look forward to going back here and this is no an equal reason to go back to Gozo than the stunning environment. Well done people.

Really sorry to say, but this restaurant was the worst we have been in Malta since we arrived. I understand it was New Year Menu, but it was overpriced for the quality of the food (small quantities) & the service. The food felt it was cooked days ago, the seafood pasta was far from fresh, sorbete & dessert were too sweet. Some of the staff was nice, but they were taking away the dishes before we were done & bringing the bill before we even ordered the coffee. Honestly not the experience expected to start the year 😢

Absolutely delicious food and delightful service. The portions are very generous and reasonably priced, we had to cancel our mains to make room for dessert, the staff was very kind to accommodate our request. I will recommend this place to anyone visiting Gozo

Very good and friendly service. The food was delicious and the restaurant is authentic Maltese style. We were celebrating my father’s 80th birthday and it was a lovely place to celebrate. The cake we ordered was delicious.

We saw this restaurant on Google and a guide, and we thought that will be good. The place was nice, and the France waiter was very friendly and he recommend to us some dishes. We ate ravioli filled with sheep cheese and with pesto and tomato sauce and a pork steak. The ravioli were good but not too much and the steak wasn't good, was very dry and had little portion. While we are drinking coffee another waiter came to us and said that they need our table and she brought us the bill to pay at the moment. It was a bad ending for a not-good dinner.

I booked a table at Maldonado Bistro on my partner's birthday during our holiday in Gozo. When we arrived, the staff congratulated him and gave us each a free glass of prosecco which was very thoughtful. We had the treacle glazed beetroot as a starter which was fantastic. One of the best starters I have ever eaten. For the main course we had a very delicious aubergine dish which was topped with pomegranate and walnuts and served on top of an onion tahini sauce, with a side of potatoes and seasonal vegetables from their own farm. The kitchen kindly adapted the main to make it vegan for us. For dessert we had sorbet and the blueberry and dark chocolate sorbets I had were excellent and complemented each other well. I also tried a Maltese Merlot wine which was very good. Throughout our evening, the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive and made us feel welcome. We had a great dining experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to others.

Restaurant was very cozy, service was very nice as well, staff was very welcoming and attentive. The bread served at the beginning was the best I have ever had, and after that I think we raised our expectations. The main food was ok, not superb not bad, the portion was very small for the price and it wasn’t like very special. Then we order dessert and another deception, looked very nice but it tasted like nothing…. Other than that, wine was amazing, they recommended a local one and it was good.

It is a lovely place with great service and food. I went there with two friends and we had a great time. Some unusual dishes on the menu. We tried the cactus steak for the first time. The pavlova with peach dessert was just fabulous! We had to re-order it as it was so delicious. 🤩 The staff were very friendly and had also time to make jokes with us. All in all a positive visit.

This recommended restaurant treated my wife and I to some of the most beautiful, bold, and complex Mediterranean flavors in all of Gozo. Thoughtful and intentional, the gifted head chef at Maldonado is an artist who combines fresh local ingredients and seasonal flavors in ways familiar and fascinating. If you are looking for classy yet comfortable dining experience complete with great food, local wine, and superb desserts, all in generous portions, set aside an evening for Maldonado. The kitchen happily accommodated my wife’s gluten free dietary restriction (celiac) and did so without compromising flavor or presentation. If you are lucky, you may be have the warm and wonderful experience of meeting the lead managers, chefs, and staff members—there are not friendlier faces in all of Malta.

A hidden gem in Gozo. The restaurant itself is a small underground place. The waiters were very cheerful and very informative of the food and wine, which definitely added to our experience. They let us try the wine first prior to choosing the bottle, which was very kind of them. The food was very tasty and fragrant, each bite better than the last. I definitely recommend Maldonado and will be coming back again.

Seafood restaurant
Arzella Restaurant is best known for its fresh seafood dishes, such as octopus stew and stuffed calamari. The restaurant enjoys panoramic views across Marsalforn Bay, making it a perfect spot to enjoy an evening or an afternoon by the sea.
The best seafood we’ve had in Malta so far. Very generous portions with amazingly flavourful seafood and pasta that I’ll remember for a long time. The only problem was that the waitress misunderstood our order and served our starter pasta and the main courses at the same time, but everything was so tasty that we happily overlooked the honest mistake. Can definitely recommend trying the food here!

What incredibly good fish. The tip of the day left nothing to be desired. Freshly caught and prepared, the open kitchen allows a view into the heart of the restaurant. Nice and courteous service and a meal for which a visit is really worthwhile. There is nothing negative to complain about. Simply incredibly delicious and good.
Benedikt Christopeit — Google review
We had dinner at Arzella a couple of nights ago. The view is really nice and the staff is friendly, but the food experience was not great. Drinks: The mojito we ordered was incredibly sour, as if it were pure lemon juice and ice. We returned it and asked for an Aperol Spritz instead, which again was just bitter and no spritz (we mixed our table sparkling water to dilute it). Food: The mussels were good and cooked in a nice broth. The pasta all’amatriciana had a blend tomato sauce and the (supposedly) guanciale was not cooked through at all. The tagliatelle with pistachios and shrimps were lumped together and unpleasant to eat. At least in the end the owner was really understanding and gave us one pasta dish on the house.
